boring sorry…there’s something about the constant snare+brush sound undercutting every song that instantly pushes it into schmaltz territory for me…can we please get any other kind of percussion up in here…. honestly with this kind of traditional (?) white people jazz i feel like i can only really appreciate it if i’m watching it being performed live, so i can see the musicians playing their instruments in real time. without that it just sounds like background music. as per usual the only parts that really grabbed me were the bass, and even that was kinda whatever.
Easy listening jazz. Someone needs to have a talk with the bass player tho
Turns out I don’t like listening to this much jazz in a row
Background jazz :(
Das Bassspiel in „My Men‘s Gone Now“ sowie „Alice in Wonderland (Take 1)“ sind für Jazz-Verhältnisse ausdrucksstark. Insegesamt gelingt es aber auch dieser Platte nicht, mich für das Genre zu begeistern.
This is the kind of jazz I don't understand. I'm sure it's great by jazz standards but it didn't do anything for me.
Very jazzy
Jazz. First Listen 2/5 Again? 2/5
I go into jazz already thinking I’m gonna hate it. There’s nothing bad about it: I just find it boring no matter what. It was pretty sounding though, and I can see why it’s on this list.
Jazz all sounds the same to me. Except Dave Brubek. I hope he’s on here.
Pretty good
It's not bad to have on in the background but it still just sounds like endless jazz noodling. Not much here to make me want to throw this on again. 4.5/10 (2.25/5)
The first time I listened to this album, it was ok. But in the second time I realized that it is a bit boring. For me, it is like background music, something you listen when you do anything else without paying too much attention, because when you do, you don't get anything out of it. But at least it isn't a punishing record. Also, jazz is not a genre that I'm familiar with, so maybe I need more experience to understand this one.
Welcome to Jazz Club…nice!
The first one was a vibe. Otherwise, okay background music but nothing I'll return to a whole lot.
worst melatonin ever
Too jazzy for me. Obviously skilled but to busy to relax and enjoy cocktails.
SMOOTH JAZZ OTL...
To be honest I didn't notice that this had finished and started again from the beginning. I don't dislike Jazz but I did feel a little bit Vince Noir at times.
definitely one hour of uninterrupted jazz highlights: Idk i zoned out
It sounds nice, but I still dont quite get jazz.
Not sure what Bruce likes about this so much. Too much noodling!
A little - goes a long way. Although I like this type of music, I like it in smaller doses, I guess. This was way too much, for way too long.
This would be cool to have been present for but ultimately the songs all blended together and nothing was vibrant enough to stand out as vital. The story is more interesting than the music, unfortunately. Still, not bad by any means.
Took a second to realize this was 6 songs but there were multiple takes of some. I mean it’s not awful to listen to but I will not be returning to listen to the ol Bill Evans trio anytime soon. Maybe when I’m 80.
I'm really sorry. I really want to like freeform jazz, but I think my brain just isn't programmed for it
A reminder that I just am not a jazz person
Not my style
It is jazz
This might be nice to listen to while fine dining but it’s not my thing
Background Jazz at a cafe, for listening with Attention it fades into boringness.
How jazzy! This was kind of boring, but it was fun to have a non-rock/hip hop/pop album, which are few and far between on this list.
Not my sort of thing, but I can appreciate the musicianship of the members. I'm sure dedicated jazz heads would love this.
I can't lie, I struggled. Was the bassist given the wrong sheet music? Not for me. Second star given for the live glass clink sounds.
It felt like a nice background music at first, but then got boring
Kahvilamusiikkka, hyviä ja huonoja kohtia. Vähä tämmöstä pimputtelua. Välillä rassaa ihan vitusti kuunnella
Was the bass player being paid by the note?
Soft jazz like you'd hear in a fancy restaurant, however it doesn't really go anywhere and I found myself being bored of it pretty quickly.
As much as I love a good jazz record, Sunday at the Village Vanguard is meandering and loses the bead quite a bit.
Ok, so this makes me feel like a musical ignoramus because I know that they are really good musicians and the improvisation aspect is amazingly skilful. I also see this is fairly highly rated on here. But it just does nothing for me. It sort of wibbles on and I caring the occasional snippet of the tune it’s based on. Why am I almost ashamed of not getting it? I imagine it as background music in a bistro
Cocktail party Jazz
Seemed okay - almost classic jazz (is that a thing?) Easy to appreciate the quality of the music but just not really my thing.
cool enough but irregular tune not really my thing
Not a jazz fan, but since this is a journey, let's see how good is this... I've always said it takes a special kind of people to enjoy this genre, it's so technical but at the same time, so chaotic, I insist on this, jazz is not for the faint of heart or somebody that will not try to experiment something new
The epitome of ‘you had to be there’
Yet another great (I’m sure) jazz album I lack understanding of. Good background music when you’re tending to something else.
In a nutshell: there is a lot seriously lacking. Well, this was disappointing. This album makes jazz sound boring, ordinary and pedestrian. In reality, jazz is nothing of the sort. Where is the virtuosity and flair? It feels like Bill Evans and Scott LaFaro were on separate wavelengths. I’ll check out Bill Evans other work, I won’t be going back to this album. Overall: 3/10
I can confidently say that this is an album of jazz music. Behold how astute I am.
"Ya like jazz?" "No"
Didn’t really get it
Cafe music
Sounds like jazz alright. I’m sure the musicianship is top class and the chemistry is telepathic and yada yada, but I just couldn’t help but zone out while listening to this. I like that you can hear the audience chattering away mid-track, reinforcing my suspicion that a lot of jazz is primarily intended to be background music…
This project is helping my figure out what type of jazz is for me. This was fine, but doesn’t impress me as much as some others I’ve heard from this list.
Honestly, don't want to listen to this type of music right now. 2/5
Nice piano but jazz is just not that interesting to me
I hate to judge a jazz album by its cover but this is as dull and loungey as it looks. I know it's great for people who like jazz but it just felt like background restaurant music and went on far too long. Looking more closely at the tracklisting, most tracks are played twice? But I couldn't have told you that. Not for me.
Not for me
Pleasant background jazz.
The jazz was pretty solid, but between being a live album and half of the album being repeat songs, it got old fairly fast.
Can't stand Jazz. There's nothing wrong with it except it's boring. this is probably a gcood example but I couldn't get to the end of the album it was so pointless
I'm fairly new to jazz being honest and haven't listened to much outside Miles Davis. This Album has some lovely piano melodies but my God that bass just drive me mad to the extent that I had to stop listening to the album a couple of times, maybe it's just not my thing.
This just didn't have the oomph that Hugh Masekela delivered with his album. Bill is reduced to background dinner party duty
I just can't with jazz, I'm sorry
Not really my jam but those cats were cookin
This is good music for a dinner party or if you’re having a wine at the bar. Otherwise it was forgettable and boring. 2/5.
Good players. Not my thing. Background music at best.
All. Instrumental. It’s like being on hold for an hour
Lot of Jazz music kind of melting into one, I'm happy to hear at least another side to mid-century America but if we could leave it for a bit that would be grand
Can't stand jazz it seems
Best song: Vibes: Mr. Tipples lounge
Standard restaurant music.
sounds just like every other jazz record!!!!!!!!
Not for me
Another instrumental album. As much as I would really live to enjoy these but I just find them really boring you know. I don't doubt that the music is fantastically well made and I would probably quite enjoy it in the background at a fancy restaurant. However, it's a no for general listening. Admittedly, I didn't listen to the whole album, and it becomes I nearly feel asleep. I apologise deeply to Bill Evans Trio as I'm probably not a deserving listener of their music.
Nice background music, bit of a toe tapper.
I tried. Not happening for me. So happy for the Trio though!
Sunday At The Village Vanguard is about as typical jazz album as typical jazz albums get and that means another elevator album. There is nothing inherently wrong about this album but it is very uninteresting. The songs, while sounding fine and were pretty well recorded, all were generally very similar sounding and didn't really have identities of their own. I can't even think of a single song that stands out as particularly good or bad. I do not hate this album but it failed to interest me in any way. Best Song: Jade Visions Worst Song: Alice In Wonderland
Doesn't do much for me, not bad for background noise that about it
Piano Jazz. Ok okay
Nice but forgettable
A nice reminder of how boring jazz can be. It's a live album but you can barely hear the audience in it. It's probably because they all fell asleep.
I don't want to judge too harshly because I really know nothing about jazz, and I'm sure this was an influential album and probably very nuanced and ect. But strictly based on the criteria of do I want to hear this album again, no I do not. Just not my taste.
More Jazz ... So much Jazz
This would be good music to play in a hotel lobby or similar situation but just not going to be something I go searching out.
Cute
Not my thing but was pleasant
Don’t get it
Jazz is okay, but I prefer music. Top Tip: if listening with ear buds, take the left one out to enjoy the piano and drums without the bass rattling away at random like a fly trying to find a path through a pane of glass.
This is restaurant background music. Another example of an album that I probably would have loved live (and would be fine with playing while I work), but will never remember.
Leuk maar ik krijg er hoofdpijn van
A little too jazzy for me. It was all over the place the whole time. The bassist is a madman, I could have used a lot less of him
Just not my cup of tea. Extra star for being able to play instruments well
Jazz piano music
-gloria's step: sounds like pizzeria music -my man's gone now: better than gloria's step. -solar: not my vibe. r all the song's on this album the same? tf. a skip. -alice in wonderland: had high hopes. again, thoroughly disappointed. this genre is terrible. -all of you: this is listenable. nvm. it's shit. overall: this whole album is a skip. i get the vibe he was going for, it j didn't pull through. i want to know who let this man cook.
Alright with it at first but got tired of it fast. All the songs started to sound the same.
I'm sure it's really good music, I just don't know any situation I would listen to it.. I'll try again in a few years 🙈
It’s jazz, which I’m not particularly into.
Lounge music that incorporates too much of a freeform style to be enjoyable. It’s like they took the mid parts of the Vince giraldi trio’s Charlie Brown Christmas album and made an entire record out of it.
This album is well crafted and musically very nice to listen to- but it is not my style and I did not enjoy it as much as someone should
Didn’t even bother, just another hour of jazz
It took so long to get through this. I learned that jazz with no horns is easy to ignore. 2.4 stars
It sure is a jazz album.
Pretty chill and mellow for my tastes but generally fine. Decent background music but nothing to get excited about.
I'm gonna rate this before finishing the album because I feel like I already know the vibes. Not bad jazz piano but not my genre
I can't do jazz. I have tried, but I need some order I guess.
Best Song: Gloria's Step / Take 2. Probably just because the album was new and I was ready for jazz. Worst Song: Jade Visions / Take 1. I had now grown tired of this whole jazz thing. Overall: I feel too ignorant to truly rate this album. I don't know enough about jazz. I don't know why there were two takes of each track. I don't even know if the two tracks were nearly identical or radically different because I can't even hold the idea of the jazz constant in my head. That isn't to say it's bad, but for me it's just good enough to leave on in the background while I cook.
I’m a jazz pleb; I like some of it, but it has to be pretty immediately memorable. This just sounds like… jazz to me 2.4
I don't really like jazz. They're good I suppose, but it needs something. Like a chello or a saxophone. Never quite gets there for me.
I want to give this a 3 so bad but it’s not fully there. I appreciate this as a fantastic jazz album it’s just not for me
not a fan of the structure of the album and the repeated tracks/performances. It’s ok jazz, not super interesting
I couldn't get through this album. It's good jazz but not my cup of tea
I just really don't like jazz
Had it’s moments but mostly meandering
The kind of music you expect to play in the background at a swanky club. Unfortunately that doesn't do all that much for me.
More jazz. A nice enough listen, but didn't get going in the same way that Miles Davis did. It's a live album, but you can barely notice it (which I guess says good things about the recording and bad things about the audience). 2/5, won't listen again.
A friend put it well - they’re not playing for the audience, but for themselves. That’s admirable but I get lost in the fray.
It sounded like 2 people clapping at the end of each live recording. 2 very bored stars.
Jazz
Rollo patatero.
20 years ago, I took a history of jazz class. When I learned from that, was that I don't like jazz. 20 years later I still don't.
I put it on while working as background. It was fine. Not my vibe. I just am not a jazz person. At least it didn’t give me anxiety like most jazz.
pleasant but not really gonna draw me back. could i write poetry to it? no
It's jazzy! Yeah, my ear is too untrained to tell good and bad jazz, but this is enjoyable background music. So, like, a 2* for me? It was aight.
Obviously great musicianship, but not my cup of tea. I looked into the backstory of this album and the bass player died not long after it was recorded, which is a shame; what an amazing talent.
Not too fan of jazz, especially when having to listen to 2 versions of the same one. I'm not proficient enough in "understanding jazz" to appreciate it.
Piano jazz - I’m sure they’re good, just not my thing
Jazz is not really my genre
I usually like jazz but this really didn’t do it for me unfortunately
I just can't get behind jazz, objectively good album but I fell asleep to it on the train
nice but live jazz album was never going to be for me
Not my speed, but an impressive recording
Dude can play some piano and they got some good jazz but it aint for me
Kinda jazzy but drums too loud for my taste
I know some people actually like straight Jazz, but I. Am. Bored. My ADHD can not handle this. It's very pretty background music for a sleepy coffee shop. That's it.
I'm not really a jazz guy. I don't get what makes this good. Sorry, jazz heads. This is just boring to me. It's fine background music but it's hard to believe that anyone would want to actively listen to this.
Not my kind of jazz this one. A lot of the songs made me feel like I needed to go wee.
I know nothing about Jazz, but this felt like it wasn't a very easy listen. I struggle with Jazz with no blatant clear melody which is returned to at some point, and if there was one in these songs, I didn't really notice it. The bass felt way too loud in the mix, Maybe my hearing is just better on my left and the bass seemed to be pushed to far left, and the piano far right. This meant I often listened to the bass over the piano, and as this is a Bill Evans album I guess I should be listened to the piano more...? Didn't really enjoy it, but not so much I didn't listen to the whole thing
Rollo patatero.
I don’t know. It’s a jazz album. I played the version with additional tracks so heard some songs again but didn’t notice. Lovely but not attaching to my mind
Jazz and all that jazz, i tried and failed.
Mmm. Pretty complex stuff made to sound effortless. Interesting, but sounds very grown up and sophisticated so not really for me.
I thought I was going to really enjoy this, but it was all just a bit limp. They need a person up front giving it some.
Jazz instrumental album. Pretty boring for me
Jazz
Wallpaper Jazz!
Good jazz album.
Jazzy piano music. No lyrics. Good for background music. Songs sound similar, not much meaning/feeling is conveyed.
The clink of plates or silverware in the background really threw me at first. Had to double check if the noise cancelling was working on my headphones. Good background jazz. The bass lines were kind of frantic and odd. The piano is really nice and attention grabbing. Repeating the takes in a row was a strange choice IMO.
Jazz, nice Not my cup of tea though
God, jazz is pointless
I don’t deserve to be blown away by this album. “Sunday at the Village Vanguard” is a classic live jazz recording, sitting comfortably on dozens of “all-time-best” lists. Evans on piano, Scott LaFaro on bass, Paul Motion on drums… and that’s it. Three musicians at the top of their game, fitting together with effortless skill and panache. And yet it leaves me cold, and I’ve had to reconcile the objective brilliance of these musicians with my utter ambivalence to the art they’re making. Because in truth… it just isn’t horn-y enough for me. Sorry, Mr. Evans, but the brass and wind sections are always what I enjoy the most in jazz. Without them, I struggle to find something to latch onto. Of course, the performances we are left with are all superb: in particular, LaFaro plays bass like no one I’ve ever heard. Eleven days after recording this, he was killed in a car accident at the age of 25, which is a tragedy for jazz as we know it. Evans and Motion are excellent too, lighting up the record with technically brilliant performances… but it all just blends into one continuous cocktail party I can’t escape. It feels useless for me to try and single out particular moments I liked or didn’t like, or analyse just one particular theme. This plays as an album of atmosphere, to be swallowed whole in one sitting, enjoyed as the crowd heard in the background clearly are doing. So please understand that these two stars are not a mark against the trio’s skills, the recording quality, the standard of music. They are simply me admitting defeat, sheepishly holding up my hands to say “I don’t get it”. Yet.
Firstly, jazz is not exactly my cup of tea, and even then, this is a live session which I am also not a fan of
Rollo patatero.
It’s all a blur to me. No catchy hooks, hardly any dynamics, songs are way too long. If you play as many extra notes in a chord, every chord sounds the same. Pointless.
Alright. Miles Davis is more interesting.
Not a fan of this one. Hated the constant double bass solos. Didn’t keep my interest.
standard jazz album
I was convinced that the Good Friday offering was going to have something to do with bunnies, chicks, eggs, or Jesus. I racked my brains, placing bets against myself on which album it would be. How wrong was I? The only connection being that there is a white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. This is not my type of music, but what I did marvel at was that I could hear each instrument distinctly and how they wove together effortlessly. I especially loved the drums. I can understand why this album is so revered. But I wouldn’t choose to listen to it again voluntarily.
OK, so I just read that the bassist in this trio died 10 days after this was recorded, which is eerie and sad, and makes me feel bad for wanting to mandate a limit as to how many bass solos any one album is allowed. There were like eight too many on this album. And I expect jazz is supposed to soothe and relax the listener... maybe not, what the hell do I know? All I can say is this did the opposite for me. I was agitated and uncomfortable while this was playing. It was a chore. This just isn't for me.
It’s not bad, but it’s hard to listen to jazz when I want something that has words and stuff. I’m sorry.
never really got into this type of music and not really a fan of instrumentals. i prefer vocals with my songs. the songs sound like they are the music in charlie brown cartoons or perhaps what you hear in the background at a golden corral.
Two songs in and I had to turn it off before it put me to sleep. This is not my jam.
Sleepy jazz club stuff.
Too boring for me. Maybe i neee to give it another listen and find the intricacies.
Nice, but faded into the background after a while.
Lift music. 2.5
One long song it seemed like but not horrid
Noodly nurdly proper jazz - nice enough but aural wallpaper really
I really feel like an asshole saying it, and I wish I had gone into more in-depth thoughts when I said it for Miles Davis' "Birth Of The Cool", but all this does is remind me of Olive Garden. It certainly is easy listening, and the bass has some really impressive moments, but otherwise this is dreadfully boring background music. Perhaps if I were actually there it would be one thing, but otherwise this is just long and repetitive, only saved by it having its enjoyable moments peak out.
Im sure it's really good if you like that kind of thing.
A high 2 - was the perfect music for a miserable day at work.
Lounge Jazz. It's an interesting sound that's to be sure. I feel like I need to be in a bar in the 40s, cigarette in hand...
Lounge jazz, neat but not my thing
Jazz is not my jam. So this was a lot for me.
Jazzy
Nah, not for me. Probably good if you're into that sort of thing, but I'm not
This sounds good but it makes me sad. And not the good kind of sad when listening to a real heavy album. Can't explain it
Better than expected, so rounding way up.
Geeze, I didn't know jazz could get this boring. I mean, I'm sure they're great players and all but what a waste of time and talent. Pure elevator, no backbone.
Eh
I guess I just don't have the ear for this kind of music. Had fun listening on headphones while studying though, it put me on a concentration and ethereal mood. But I can't even remember which songs pleased me or even when one was finished and a new one was starting.
I know far too little about jazz to know if this is good jazz or not, I assume it is? Again, maybe because I’m completely ignorant to this music I just think of it as background music that I can’t really distinguish from much other jazz music. 2/5
2/5. Great musicianship with bland music. Hard to dig for long periods of time.
It was not flowy enough at times which made it hard to listen.
..
Mwah, supposedly the best album of Bill Evans ever but I found it a bit boring
I just don’t want another free flow jazz live album, would be good for parties or video games, bad for on your own
It's some very classic jazz. Easy to listen to, but a little too easy. There really wasn't anything interesting about it to me.
Sounds like elevator music in a fancy-pants shopping mall. Not really into jazz.
So many things I didn’t enjoy. It’s a live album which doesn’t add to the album, I just hear people in the background every once in a while and it’s distracting. It’s jazz which I don’t hate, I love when it’s integrated into other music but by it self it’s just boring to me. It needs more. The music is good just not for me at all.
Needs some brass.
Three albums in a row over 75 minutes. And ALL were too long. This sounds like something that would be on in the background of a hipster movie theater. One that doesn’t play Marvel Movies, only independent films (well they existed when I was a teenager at least) It’s not offensive, but it’s super not interesting, either.
I'm not sure I understand jazz. I can appreciate where it comes from, and I like some of the more exciting "musical" forms, or the more explosive improv face-melters. But something like this just sounds like a bland mess. A lot of bass solo-ing, which is just a comedy of futility in my eyes. At times it does pick up and I enjoy it when the team is in sync. Nothing really catches on first listen. On second listen I enjoyed My Man's gone Now. Would not buy, would not listen after today most likely.
Does it sound nice? Yes. It it boring? Also, yes.
Jazz är tråkigt.
Bit different.
A perfectly fine jazz album, another one to pop in a chill background music playlist. Nothing particularly offensive but perhaps a little too mellow for my taste - it definitely feels off the cuff, but in the most practiced way. Best: Solar: Live At The Village Vanguard Worst: All Of You: Live At The Village Vanguard
This sort of thing will only ever be background music, and the sort that I would personally never play.
Piano jazz. It's fine
My previous album was "Back At The Chicken Shack" by Jimmy Smith, and in comparison, this album has all the features that I dislike in a lot of jazz music. It feels directionless and impersonal. Your typical track has a piano solo, a standing bass solo, and some fun interactions between the instruments but no overall theme. It is relaxing, though.
Yeah kind of okay. Like nice relaxing jazz rather than chaotic stressful jazz which I def prefer. However, it's definitely missing a bit of spice for my liking as well on the other hand. It's maybe a bit to close to the dull end of the scale for my liking as well. Haha I'm quite specific with which jazz I like!
Well it was okay, wasn't offensive or anything but not my cup of macha. Every song sounds like the piano in 'have yourself a merry little Christmas'
Eh, not really my thing. I'm sure they're super talented fellas, but it just sounds like pointless meandering to me. 2 stars.
Wasn't feeling it today. Its nice background music and would be good for uni work, but wouldn't listen to for pure pleasure sake.
Not much of anything really, can't work out how it made the list.
A bit of jazz with a bit of swing. Goes off into free form sometimes which doesn’t go well with my brain. My brain likes patterns.
Having listened to what is “routinely ranked as one of the best live jazz recordings of all time”, I think I can safely say I don’t like jazz.
I wish I liked jazz :(
It did not help that I was listening to this in the late afternoon when I was already tired but this is sooooo low energy.
This gets an extra star because, while I wasn’t in a swanky bar in the 80s wearing a slinky dress and very red lipstick while I was listening to it, someday I might be.
Rollo patatero.
za zaspat u liftu, 2
Standout - Alice in Wonderland - Take 2 It was nice-sounding jazz, but it didn't capture my attention (or I didn't give it my full attention)
Smooth sounds, bass seem strained in the mix. Would sound better recorded today I'd think. But not my sort of thing.
Easy listening
As a fan of rhythm section jazz, the Bill Evans Trio has been a favorite since I first sought them out after hearing Bill's work on Kind of Blue. That said, the band seems to meander through this set without much direction. It doesn't set the tone as well as on Waltz for Debbie and the playing seems to lack conviction. Not an unpleasant listen, but it fell into the background too easily.
Whilst I can tell that the musicianship is exceptional, jazz just does nothing for me at all.
Head was rocking on a few parts, but overall did not enjoy the album. More not a jazz fan than a Bill Evans Trio fan.
Not very interesting or particularly groundbreaking Jazz. Well played and nice enough music to be on hold to. 2/5
OK to paint to.
it's Jazz
Jazz meh
Like the relaxing jazz, although it is to long for my liking 2/5
Easy listening jazz noodling. I'm sure if you like that kind of thing it's very good, but it just reminds me of being on hold.
For me, jazz is performance art. I enjoy it so much more in person than over a recording.
no
No entiendo el jazz
Not really into that type of jazz
This is a complete personal opinion but I just did not vibe with this album. I understand the complexity of the musicianship but I prefer jazz to be a little higher-tempo. Easy listen but won't return most likely unless I need to background music to study to.
Jazz. Not bad. Nice restaurant vibes.
My Man's Gone Now: almeno questa c'ha un accenno tematico che non sia solo cazzeggio modale. Almeno all'inizio...
v comfy but my brain isn’t intellectual enough i need lyrics pretty good just not my thing gloria’s step and alice in wonderland were cute doe
Not a jazz guy. Good musicianship though
Good music to vibe to sometimes, but not to just listen to
nice. smooth. i always think one day i'll start listening to jazz, but at the moment i just don't understand whats going on. if someone could explain what i'm supposed to do with it that would be helpful. Alright background music.
Not a jazz person - but this was a nice album.
I don't listen to a lot of jazz. I played in a jazz band in high school, and I do really like Ornette Coleman, but this didn't speak to me. It was 60 minutes of bass solos. Very, very good bass solos, but bass solos.

Not my cup of tea at all. **
Fairly uninspiring jazz. Sunday afternoon BBC mystery soundtrack.
just generic jazz on first listen.
jazzzzzzzzzzz
Jazz isn't really for me. Like black licorice, I can appreciate it exists and others like it, but I probably never will.
There was nothing wrong with the album per se. All of the songs were ok but I wouldn't be excited if any of them came up while on shuffle.
It was plinky plonky in the background.
Not for me
The weird thing about jazz is that I enjoy it in a live setting, but it loses a lot of it's luster when I'm listening on Spotify or whatever. Just not the same.
Not my cup of tea, even though it's very good from a technical point of view.
really not my style

Jazz without a horn = music to fall asleep to. I respect the skill, but it's not for me. Best track: Jade Visions
No
Not my cup of tea.
So many jazz albums. They all kind of sound the same and are fine in the background, but I will not be listening to this again.
Jazz, innit. Twinkling, tootling, hi hatting, plinking and pootling. Pish.
Didn’t make it through the first track. Please stop sending me jazz Favourite track: the first one
I still don't like jazz.
this was excruciating… god i hate jazz
Not my thing
Ya like jazz? No.
Elevator jazz.

200+ albums into this project and this one was the one that finally broke my resolve to listen all the way through every album. It feels like every second album lately is either jazz or hip hop, neither of which I enjoy, and it’s just not worth punishing myself when it becomes clear I actively dislike the music being reviewed and can’t wait for it to be over.
0.6/5 I have to say that jazz musicians are excellent at their instruments. With that being said, this just sounds like background jazz music that I could hear anywhere to me. I'm sure if you love jazz then this would be up your alley. I sometimes listen to jazz in the background when I'm trying to concentrate so I could see myself putting some more Bill Evans on, but I'd never intentionally listen to this again.
I had to stop 3 songs in, the bass solos/noodling are just awful.
Im missing something. Sounds like 3 people who have never met playing different pieces of music. Maybe that the point. It's live and people talking in the background no wonder. Not nearly as bad as Miles Davis it was twice the length. However far from enjoyable. Safe to say jazz not my thing. I'm dreading the prog albums.
I quite like jazz, but this is a bit too experimental for me...
Ok I don't know why but my review was deleted. Basically, this is just a bunch of guys playing at once. I once said I'd give any jazz album a 5 even though I don't know anything about anything but come one. You gotta be able to hang your hat on something. I do not believe there is a person on this planet that could identify which song a random ten second snippet of this record is from. This is what people who hate jazz think of when they think of jazz. Even the audience seemed uninterested, as you can hear them chatting throughout.
Not a fan of contemporary jazz

Put this on and then put the kitchenaid on to make a cake to help get through it. I don’t want to reiterate all of my same recycled complaints from the past but I really didn’t enjoy this
I don’t listen to instrumental music whatsoever so this ends up being boring to me.
Improvisational jazz + live albums= poop
Jazz noodling. Nope. Why could they have not taken the best of the takes and just said "ok, these are good, put these on the album"? No. They had to put three takes of some songs on here. I don't care how much of a musical genius you are, that's bad planning. Fuck off with this shit. My rating: 1/5
If hotel lobby jazz had a pinnacle, this might be it. The whole album feels like you’ve walked into a polite murmur of clinking glasses and tasteful noodling. At least it didn’t sound like a cat wandering drunkenly across the piano keys… but honestly, I kept thinking I’d hit repeat by accident. Skipped most of the tracks because they all blended into one polite, brush‑heavy blur. I know it’s a stone‑cold classic for jazz fans, but for anyone who hates jazz? Yeah… this is peak “I hate jazz.”
Not for me
2/10
booooooorriiiiiiıiiiiiiiiiiiiinggggggggggggggggggggggg im boutta delete my acc stop w these recs omg
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure this is a great jazz album, but couldn’t get into it. I like my jazz with some sax
I listen to jazz only occasionally when I'm in a good mode. Saved this for later.
There is like no structure or form to these songs, I'm amazed they're even 'covers' at all. This is just mindless noodling, which I really dislike.
Very odd like solos pointless that are pointless
