Popular Reviews

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo

It's okay, but there's absolutely no reason for this album to be on this list.

Hot Fuss by The Killers

The kind of music you’d hear playing on the radio in a public space and remember absolutely nothing about afterwards cause it blends perfectly into the endless mass of other similar, thoroughly sterile, harmless, modern soft rock bands.

Southern Rock Opera by Drive-By Truckers

Imagine how good this list could be without the ridiculous angloamerican bias.

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten

While I might not give this album a full five stars in general, I'll be doing it here not only as a counter for this being (currently) second to lowest rated album on the whole site, but also because I think this is the kind of album that truly defines what SHOULD be on a "1001 albums you must hear before you die" type of a playlist. It might not be – in a big picture – commercially relevant, but it's a albums like these that truly define a marginal but overly passionate genre of music and is culturally far more relevant than any random mainstream one-hit-wonder or otherwise meaningless trendy thing from a short period of time in the past this list also has. It's albums like these you SHOULD hear at least once in your life to know just what kind of music people in the underground, in the shadows of the mainstream are overly passionate about. I completely understand why people might not like this, as it's clearly not for everyone (and then again what even is?) but I hope it makes at least a couple of people think what might be the idea and inspiration behind something like this. Oh, and it's still a great and pioneering record in its genre regardless, don't forget that.

The Predator by Ice Cube

Nothing too interesting music-wise but I appreciate the antisemitism and misogyny.

Aug 21 2025

I had to listen to his debut earlier and it was basically shite all around, while this one's actually got a lot of genuinely great stuff in it, musicwise. Shame that the lyrical content is still mostly about how he's got a big dick and fucks sluts.

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield

Chore of Enchantment by Giant Sand
Aug 28 2025

Nothing really wrong with it, but will I ever listen to this again? No. Will I even remember that I listened to this album a couple of days from now? No. So in a way an "okay" album that's thoroughly forgettable and unremarkable is a lot worse than an album that's genuinely bad but at least leaves a memory and a mark with its awfulness. This is just lukewarm and irrelevant.

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg

One point for Born To Make You Happy being a bänger despite the extremely corny lyrics.

Roots by Sepultura
Oct 24 2025

Very likely the best album nu-metal ever spawn. Far too long though and as such, it feels more like a collection of songs rather than a coherent album. Which sadly is the case with way too many 90s albums.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Oct 31 2025
Ocean Rain by Echo And The Bunnymen
Nov 05 2025

I've given this band a chance a number of times back in the day, since on paper they should be something I'd enjoy a fair bit. Never "clicked" for me though but since that HAS happened with some bands in the past, I was excited to see if I'd finally "get" this band this time around. Sadly, it still didn't happen. I don't really know what it is. No melodies that'd give me the chills, no grooves or rhythms that'd get me going, singing and lyrics feeling bland too. I'd almost want to like it more, but that just... didn't happen. Such a shame.

Os Mutantes by Os Mutantes
Nov 06 2025

I'll give it an extra point just for being a non-English album on an extremely anglobiased list.

Horses by Patti Smith
Nov 08 2025
Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Nov 15 2025

I can tell this is a fantastic live album. The energy is crazy and you can almost touch the atmosphere. ...but it's still blues. And blues, for me, is boring, no way around it. A brilliant live album that does nothing to me musically? yeah, it's certainly possible.

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Nov 18 2025
Deserter's Songs by Mercury Rev
Nov 20 2025

My first intuition about this album was that it looks like the most 3/5 album ever. And what do you know, the rating for it was 3.01, so I was spot on. And it really is a pretty good 3/5 album too. Some very nice tracks here, some underwhelming ones, you know how it goes. Really liking how 90s it sounds and feels.

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Nov 21 2025

Never had that certain urge to get familiar with The Doors nor had I ever read or heard anything that would've gotten me interested enough. Well, looks like I haven't missed much since this album doesn't really do anything for me. Riders on the Storm is decent.

Fun House by The Stooges
Nov 23 2025

I think calling this merely proto-punk or punk at all doesn't really do it justice, since particularly the latter side of the album goes way beyond what I'd call punk personally. Either way, I went through the album twice today and it's an easy 5/5 for me.

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors
Nov 24 2025

Impressive playing but sounds way too American for me.

Faust IV by Faust
Nov 26 2025

Faust aren't even among my favourite bands in the krautrock-sphere, but I'd say this is their best album and still better than 95% of the music on this list, so I can't help but give it a solid 5/5.

Picture Book by Simply Red
Nov 27 2025

Tämä on tismalleen sellasta musaa, joka soi MTV3:n ohjelmatietojen taustalla tai päivän päätteeksi vuonna 1993. Siitä siis pienet nostalgialisät.

Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry
Dec 03 2025

This is so far-eighties there should be hatecrime laws for it. The lyrics couldn't possibly be more shallow and superficial but sometimes that just is what you're after. A lot of these songs and the production also reminds me of many different Mega Drive games' soundtracks, which is a nice bonus. Overall I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.

1984 by Van Halen
Dec 06 2025
Dec 07 2025

Had a hard time trying to decide whether I’d give this four or five stars. I’m giving it a second listen, having a couple of beers and it’s a nice evening in general so what the hell, sure, let’s round that up to five.

Logical Progression by LTJ Bukem
Dec 11 2025

Coming from rock and metal background, it's always been hard for me to get around to and approach the different culture regarding artists in the more modern electronic music scene. If I hear an interesting I want to know the artist, listen to their albums all the way through and all that, instead of just hearing cool songs on random mixes or playlists and leave it at that. That said, I've been really wanting to get more familiar with the music itself and this compilation definitely is a nice way to get to know at least some, obviously highly praised and legendary material in one of the subgenres. And I'm liking what I heard quite a good bit. Shame, that the issue I mentioned first still exists, but this is probably the best way for me to get to know this type of music. And remember to check the ACTUAL album, not the wrong one this site links to.

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Dec 14 2025

I’ve never cared about yank hardcore that much. I’ll take my punk Finnish or Japanese instead.

Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Dec 22 2025

The songs are actually pretty good, but I can’t stand his voice.

The Visitors by ABBA
Dec 29 2025

The title track took me by a complete surprise. Sounds absolutely like something off a late-70s krautrock album. Easily the best Abba song I’ve heard. Shame that the rest of the album is more of their usual material, which doesn’t really do all that much for me.

Dec 31 2025

I have no reference point for this kind of music as I’ve never barely even heard any before, so it’s surprisingly hard to give an opinion about it. Doesn’t help that I’m listening to it in the middle of the darkest and coldest winter and not while laying on a Senegalese beach. That said, I think this is exactly the kind of music this list SHOULD have more instead of, what, seven Bob Dylan albums. More interesting and remarkable music from every corner of the world, please. I’ll give it a three just for actually being on the list.

Hms Fable by Shack
Jan 04 2026

Well, it's got quite a bunch of good songs even but all of it just sounds so generic that I don't really know why would I listen to this instead of _those_ better britpop bands. So, a solid 3/5, but completely unremarkable and don't really see why it should be on this list.

Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
Jan 18 2026

I quite fancy noisy, experimental and "weird" music in general, but that doesn't mean this wouldn't still be pretty shite. They also have this specifically absurd, yank style of humour that I can't tolerate at all.

Jan 23 2026

This and Can's Tago Mago are the best two albums on this list.

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Jan 28 2026

This album sounds like a Mega Drive game and that makes it feel extremely nostalgic, despite me never actually hearing it before. Musically it's really nothing interesting but I'll give it 3/5 just for the reason stated above.

Connected by Stereo MC's
Jan 30 2026

Far better than I thought it would be. Definitely shouldn't be on this list but it's quite all right nevertheless.

Feb 02 2026

Yank shite.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Feb 05 2026

The kind of music you’d hear playing on the radio in a public space and remember absolutely nothing about afterwards cause it blends perfectly into the endless mass of other similar, thoroughly sterile, harmless, modern soft rock bands.

Rocks by Aerosmith
Feb 16 2026
Feb 19 2026

Anything that’s not in English on this list automatically gets an extra point from me. That said, I’m such a music-oriented person that I rarely listen to – or even notice – vocals or lyrics in music. This is true with English rap as well. No matter how I try to concentrate on the lyrics, I quickly notice I’m just vibing to the song itself and forgot to listen to what they’re singing about. Therefore French rap doesn’t really differ all that much from my usual experience with a hip-hop record. In fact, not understanding anything helps me to focus on the rhythm and flow a lot more than I thought. In that sense, this record definitely helped me broaden my understanding of hip-hop and that’s really the best kind of experience you can get out of this list. They really should just put more non-angloamerican music here cause what new is that seventh Bob Dylan record really going to give you?

Exile In Guyville by Liz Phair
Feb 27 2026

I like the cover and the music itself is decent 90s alternative rock that giving me some nice nostalgic chills but I could come up with at least 1001 albums that deserve to be on this list instead of this one. Also not sure why people call this lo-fi, 'cause it sounds rather well produced compared to anything I consider lo-fi.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Feb 28 2026

The worst one of the Ride-Master-Justice trio, in my humble opinion.

I’m a Lonesome Fugitive by Merle Haggard
Mar 02 2026

Life is Prison was kind of a bänger. Otherwise it's the same old country shite that I don't have much tolerance for.

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney
Mar 04 2026

At least the guitar tone is great, as you’d expect from an album with a name like this. Too bad the music itself doesn’t do me much and I absolutely can’t stand the singer’s voice.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Mar 05 2026

One thing this list has proven is that I seem to have never missed anything by not giving The Rolling Stones a listen. Their third album I’ve had to listen to so far and this still does absolutely nothing for me.

Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons
Mar 06 2026

For a brief second, after seeing the cover, I was hopeful this might be prog or – even better – some early 70s synth ambient. Then I checked Wikipedia and saw "country". What an absolute letdown, fucking hell. …and to no one’s surprise, it’s shite. Well, not actual shite; I can tell it’s probably perfectly fine country but since this list – like all criticism in general, in the end – is subjective, I have to give it a mere one star simply because it doesn’t do anything for me and I have very, very low tolerance for country in general.

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Mar 07 2026
At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Mar 10 2026

Biisien puolesta en varmaankaan antaisi kahta tähteä enempää, mutta tällä livellä on niin käsinkoskesteltavan kova meno, että kyllä siitä irtoaa vielä yksi ylimääräkinenkin pinna.

Mar 12 2026

I've only ever really heard nothing but the most overplayed hits from Queen, but people have said their albums as a whole are a lot better. Well, there's a couple of pretty good songs here but otherwise... eh, it's still mostly just what I expected and that's not for me at all.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Mar 15 2026

Might be the best album cover so far. And the music itself isn't bad either. Nothing special, but very decent new wave or whatever yee call it.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Mar 17 2026

Like how hypnotic and repetitive (in a good way) this is but wish it had a less polished production and would just generally get even wilder and into more psychedelic territories. Either way, this is, again, the type of albums I wish this list had more of.

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Mar 18 2026

Fucking hell, that caught me by surprise. Mistook the album name for the artist and the cover definitely looked a tad misleading as well. But how glad am I to be wrong! One of those albums on the list I had no idea about beforehand that turned out to be a five-star one right on the first listen. Giving it a second listen, just to make sure but yeah, this was absolutely brilliant.

Time Out Of Mind by Bob Dylan
Mar 19 2026

Absolutely zero reasons for me to ever listen to this again.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Mar 21 2026

I talk to a somewhat mentally unstable lady online occasionally and mentioned I got this album for today and she said I ”triggered” her ’cause there’s a song about rape or something on it. Anyway, I listened to it while working out at the gym (leg day) and didn’t really remember anything about it afterwards. But nothing really irritated me either, so I guess that’s a basic two stars.

Third by Soft Machine
Mar 25 2026

Gave it a whole three listens today. Wild, kosmiche-esque music, that's not quite too proggy or jazzy, but does both just the right amount. Brilliant album. Have to give it five stars, no way about it. Nyt tiedän myös, että Notkea Rotta on näemmä sämplännyt Moon in Junea Mielenterveyden timpuri -biisiinsä. Kaikkea sitä.

D by White Denim
Mar 26 2026

This is a tad too American for me. Absolutely cannot stand the singer's voice.

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Mar 28 2026

I've never like The Wall all that much compared to ANY of their previous albums, which I like all of and I've never been able to quite figure out why that is. For a long time I thought maybe it's just Waters' megalomania, but he was always a crucial composer for the band and Animals is, similarly to this album, almost all his work too, so I don't think it's that. Now that I listened to it again, I actually think it's the shorter songs that might be reason for it. I like them whenever they focus on longer songs. That, and the style in general moving further away from the styles they were doing before. Three stars.

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Mar 30 2026
Blur by Blur
Mar 31 2026
All Directions by The Temptations
Apr 02 2026

Saw the cover and the logo and knew instantly this has to be at least a three-star record. I wasn't wrong.

Apr 09 2026

Not only has this list made me realise that The Rolling Stones most certainly aren't for me, it seems like I have to say the same about The Beatles. This sounds interesting to me on paper but in actuality just does very little for me.

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Apr 16 2026
Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Apr 24 2026

I've never really knew all that many Depeche Mode songs outside of the biggest hits but they've been on my get-familiar-with list for aeons at this point. Well, now was the time and fucking hell, this was one of those albums I immediately knew I just had to give a whole five stars to. Played it a total of three times today and yeah, seems like I have a lot of work to do, going through their whole catalogue now.

Be by Common
May 12 2026
Raw Power by The Stooges
May 17 2026

I have no idea why people complain about the production of this album. It's nasty, dirty and filthy, just how I'd expect a proper punk and rock album to sound like. If anything, I wish it'd be even noisier, more similar to Fun House. That's really the only reason why I'm dropping one point from a perfect score.

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
May 20 2026
Electric by The Cult
May 27 2026

Was expecting some proper goth rock or post-punk, but this turned out to just be the most generic, bland and lazy hard rock imaginable. Having a dirty, actual rock’n’roll-like production might’ve done a lot, now it just sounds far too sterile for the kind of music it tries to be. I was going to give this two stars at first but frankly, listening to it pissed me off so much that in the end I decided to drop it down to one.

Remedy by Basement Jaxx

Vivid by Living Colour
Jun 01 2026
Want One by Rufus Wainwright
Jun 02 2026
Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Jun 04 2026

The concept and the album cover were better than the actual music.

Pieces Of The Sky by Emmylou Harris
Jun 08 2026

Such a lovely and promising looking cover and then you realise it's country. Bummer. Luckily, it's not too bad. This kind of "alt-country", as they call it, I can somewhat tolerate. Couple of rather good songs here, even. Most of it doesn't really do much for me though. Shame.

Jun 09 2026

Well, it's entertaining for sure. Sometimes, with albums like these, I wonder whether there are people who actually take this stuff seriously or is it all just overexaggerated nonsense for everyone else too?

I don’t really get the hate. This was a perfectly fine pop-rock album. Nothing spectacular, but like said, perfectly fine.

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Jun 13 2026

I saw someone mention that this is way too 80s or something and that’s just nonsense. Just because there’s some crappy VSTs of old synths here and there doesn’t make it 80s yet. More than anything this sounds like that certain type of quiet and minimalistic pop with whispered vocals that was vastly popular in 2010s, which I've never been much of a fan of. Regardless, it wasn’t too bad. I listened to the French version, of course, because I always prefer, if not the non-English version, at least the version with the singer's native language. And that worked quite nicely here. Pretty for the type of music it is. Won't listen to it again, but I'll give it a good three stars; one extra for not being (solely) in English.

Aja by Steely Dan
Jun 14 2026
The Madcap Laughs by Syd Barrett
Jun 17 2026

I quite like the Barrett-era Floyd albums and have given these solo albums a go several times throughout the years but they just... don't really do anything for me.

Jun 20 2026

This must've hit you so hard if you were on the "right side" of things during the peak woke. Okay, provocations aside, it's not really that bad of an album but I feel it's destined to be forgotten simply due to having nothing that special besides the then-current commentary.

Immigrés by Youssou N'Dour
Jun 22 2026

Fucking hell, that's one fat bass drum you got there mate. Jokes aside, I liked this a lot more than I was expecting. Lots of great grooves, wild percussions that I always like and some cool polyrhythmic stuff happening as well. Very interesting, indeed.

Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves
Jun 25 2026

Not quite as country as I was fearing. Just the most inoffensive, blandest, marketable American pop music targeted for teenage girls one could possibly imagine. But, you know what, the songs really weren't all THAT bad. And for a 2018 album, this somehow made me feel very nostalgic about all the early-00s pop music of this kind that I had to listen to because my family didn't have a computer nor internet yet back then and I had to watch every possible music programme on the telly in hopes of seeing and hearing something decent. So it a surprisingly nice experience in the end. Odd, but nice. I'd want to give it three stars, but let's be honest, all that nonsense above aside, this album is pretty shite and has no reason to be on this list. I can't possibly give it more than two actual stars, but I'll give it a spiritual third star for that lovely little experience I described.

Goo by Sonic Youth
Jun 27 2026
The Stranger by Billy Joel
Jun 28 2026

I was going to give this two stars for being, you know, quite okay music, particularly by today's standards but once I got to Only the Good Die Young, my noticing sense started tickling and was convinced this guy HAS to be jewish. And what do you know, after a brief peek at the early life section, I was entirely right. So sadly I have to drop it down to just one star.

Closer by Joy Division
Jun 29 2026
A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Jul 01 2026

Well-produced but extremely generic early-00s R'n'B that has absolutely zero reasons to be on this list.

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
Jul 03 2026

Perhaps leaning a tad too much to the indie side of things to my taste but eh, I know they love their krautrock and that they do very well. Enjoyed this album greatly in any case and think I couldn't give it anything but full five stars, especially in the context of this list. Brilliant.

Giant Steps by The Boo Radleys
Jul 04 2026

Wikipedia's genre listing made this sound far more interesting than it actually is.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses

Still a bit traumatised due having to watch approximately a thousand shitty teenager bands trying to sounds like Guns n' Roses on youth centre gigs during the glamrock revival boom back in the mid-00s. Luckily I'm mostly over it and can say that this is one bloody good rock'n'roll record. Being a non-native speaker you don't really care all that much what the lyrics actually say, particularly when it's music like this but fucking hell, are they awful at times now that I actually listened to them. Oh well, that's part of the thing, I reckon. Three stars feels a bit too low so I guess I'll have to go with four.

Right from the get-go I expected this to be one of those albums that are quite okay when I listen to them and then forgot everything about completely the very next day. And it definitely seems that my prediction was correct. It's lukewarmly good, as in there's absolutely nothing to remember or go back to afterwards.

American Pie by Don McLean

I always thought that Madonna’s cover was actually really good.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Jul 14 2026

Far more into his later, wilder and more experimental material, but this, of course, is still good all the same.

So far this list has proven that I haven’t lost much avoiding The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin for most of my life. On the contrary, it does seem I’ve missed quite a bit by neglecting Brian Eno. The one with David Byrne and his albums with Roxy Music have all surprised me rather positively and this one is no exception. Absolutely love the title track and Baby’s on Fire particularly. I’ve always felt Robert Fripp was bit of a pompous brick but his solo on the latter definitely makes me think I might have to reconsider my thoughts about him. Fantastic record.

Rap opera sounded somewhat interesting as a concept so I was ready to give this a chance. But fucking hell, this really is on a different level of terrible. All the worst things about the early noughties on one single album. Edit: have to come back several hours after listening to this just to say that I still cannot fathom such an album exists and is on this list of all things. I'm genuinely baffled.

Eternally Yours by The Saints
Jul 17 2026

It’s very basic punk rock with nothing special or fancy to it. It’s been done to absolute death since then but this of course was when it was still new and fresh so I do quite like this actually. Obviously the production is far better than anything most modern bands do for this style of music. At first I also thought they sounded surprisingly good for an American band just to realise halfway through that they’re actually Australians, which explains everything. In short, nothing special, just some basic punk rock, but done just the way it should be done.

Our Aim Is To Satisfy by Red Snapper
Jul 19 2026

Well, it's perfectly fine electronic whatever. But that's the whole issue; this is just about as lukewarmly okay 90s electronic music as possible. Apparently not even influential in any way, since I'm not the only who's never heard even the name before. Therefore, I'll say it's a perfectly okay album that shouldn't be on this list.

Is This It by The Strokes
Jul 21 2026

I remember hearing Last Nite a lot thee apparatus of mass communication, television, back in the day and finding it somewhat intriguing, but being a young metal teen just about to dive into the world of black metal more deeply at the time, I couldn't really let myself like or look into it too much back then. I've never come across this band ever since until now and this album's pretty alright actually. I guess they were going for a natural, "dirty" production with the album but listening to it today, it still sounds very Pro Toolsy, even though I get what they're after. This makes the album sound somewhat flat though, which sadly was a bit of a curse of all albums at the time. Had this been an actual analog recording with some proper dynamics, it would've only benefitted the album. Now it's just an alright album to me.

Treasure by Cocteau Twins

I've known this band by name for at least 20 years by now and used to see them mentioned a lot back when I was getting into shoegaze, dreampop and whatnot. But somehow I never really "got" them and had no longer recollection of what they sounded like. So I was, honestly, pretty excited to see if I'd find a new great band to listen to now. But weirdly, I still don't get it. It's just something about the melodies that simply does nothing for me. The exact same thing happened with Echo and the Bunnymen when I got their album earlier on this list. I can see why people like them but their thing just isn't on the same wavelength with me. It's perfectly okay, but nothing I really feel like I'd need to come back to. Maybe I'll give them another after another 20 years and see how it feels then.

Actually by Pet Shop Boys
Jul 30 2026

Got another Pet Shop Boys album less than a week ago and was pleasantly surprised. Well, I got another one now and this one's even better. Gave Behaviour 4/5 so I guess I have to give this a 5/5 then. Played it twice today and I think it definitely deserves it though.

There are only two versions of this album on streaming, both with a ton of bonus tracks so I ultimately decided that nah, I’m just gonna listen to the songs that were on the original LP and call it a day. But what I heard was quite good indeed. Production-wise, this is just about as good as a live rock album can sound like while still sounding authentic and real, I'd say. The songs are, honestly, nothing that special to me, but I love when bands just jam away and let the songs live a bit live. It really is the kind of thing you see less and less these days, even in the more marginal corners of music, which is a shame.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners

One of those albums that are probably just fine (wouldn’t be on this list if they weren’t, surely?) but which I personally get absolutely nothing out of and have no reasons to ever return to.

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Aug 07 2026

Given that this album doesn’t even have its own Wikipedia page, its importance to be on this list could obviously be considered questionable. BUT: we’re not here to rate an album’s importance, we’re here to rate how good they are. And this one definitely took me by surprise. I’m quite a big enjoyer of the so-called krautrock and know a good amount of newer bands in the similar style, which I sometimes like to call neo-krautrock (Circle, Minami Deutsch, Motor!k, to name a few examples) and this album seems to lean a good bit on that same style. Not remarkably better than any of the bands mentioned and certainly nowhere near as good as the originators though. BUT, another but, when it comes to modern music, this is still better than the vast majority of everything else that comes out these days. Listened it through three times today and have to give it a solid 5/5, no way about it. This was brilliant. Definitely one of the best new finds I've gotten off this list so far.

Heaux Tales by Jazmine Sullivan
Aug 09 2026

Album with a cover like this, released during the peak of whatever people call "woke era" and 14 songs in 32 minutes. Yeah, can’t help it, I admit I’m a bit prejudiced. But maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised, who knows? Nah, I wasn't. This is dreadful, absolutely horrible. Is this what American mainstream music is like these days? No wonder they're out of their fucking minds.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Aug 10 2026

Well, it's perfectly fine alternative-ish pop-rock something. Nothing more, nothing less.

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Aug 11 2026

Well, that was bland and dull. Nothing really wrong about it, but there’s really no reason for you to ever listen to this album. Pointless run-of-the-mill music, that I will have no recollection of ever even hearing after this one time, to put it bluntly.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Aug 12 2026

I can see why this album, along the others usual suspects, felt identity-changing as a teen, after the gradiose of the 80s. I, however, am a millennial so to me these were just some pretty good songs you'd hear on MTV Nordic's Superrock or 90s nostalgia programs. So yeah, pretty good (better than I thought AIC is, to be frank), but that's about it.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Aug 13 2026

Killed and smeared by the jews. Such sadness.

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Aug 14 2026

NOTE: At least on Apple Music, this album isn't available as a stand-alone release but all the tracks are – rather unconveniently – on "The Virgin Years 1974-1978" collection instead. While this isn't necessarily my favourite Tangerine Dream album (Rubycon and Ricochet that followed this one are), this was the first one I heard from them somewhere around 2007 or so and it basically changed, if not my whole life, than at least largely how I listened to music. There's just something about those Moog sequencers that I simply never get tired of. In vacuum, I might not give this full five stars but since it's their only album on the list and it was, nevertheless, hugely influential for me personally, I can't give it anything lower either. If you like this, go give Rubycon and Ricochet a listen as well.

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Aug 16 2026

Taking drugs to make music to take drugs to. I’ve tried to get into Spacemen 3 before but the only album I’ve ever really listened to more is the aforementioned bootleg-turned-into-an-official-demo-collection-I-guess. Some great moments on this album, some far less interesting ones. It's okay.

Aug 17 2026

Right at the start I thought this sounded quite good, but then the singer came in a ruined my mood instantly. Well, it’s not THAT bad, just has that 00s indie sound to him – I know you know what I mean – that I have a very hard time tolerating. I don’t really get the comparisons to Coldplay myself. I feel like this is far more experimental (and therefore more interesting) than Coldplay, who to me sound very conservative instrument-wise. You can definitely tell this is from the naughties by just about everything in it; from the production to the aforementioned singing style and the overall melancholic compositions. Hnece it makes me quite nostalgic, but sadly in a bit of a negative way. I used to listen to some sad and melancholic indie in my late teens back then too (Mew’s Frengers, for example, is an excellent album) and the mood on this album instantly bring back that troubled, depressed state of mind a kid who in actuality has nothing to worry about in his life. So in short, it kind of gives some lovely shivers of nostalgia, but the things it reminds me of are absolute bollocks. A very loose, tangentical thought I got off of that is that I personally really enjoy the very old-school style and mood of this site. None of the horseshit that plague every modern website and the reviews in general feel that way too. Thus, I’m not even going to proofread what I’ve written in this review and let it go through as is. I’m gonna give this a solid 3 stars. Made me feel things more than I expected, probably because I was listening to this while cycling around my hometown in the dead of night, which tends to be when I’m in my most nostalgia-receptive mood. But yeah, not really anything I’d want to listen to again after this one time.
