Reviews (page 6 of 14)
Do I like Zep? Guys I think I might like Zep. Not every song was a winner for me, but enough were that I plan to revisit this. Who knew!

Great album like acoustics songs the best

The best Led Zep album? I'm surprised not to give it a 5. It's a 4.5. A couple of weak tracks take from the glory of Bron Y Aur stomp, Gallows Pole, Since I've been loving you. We rave about Page's electric guitar prowess, but he's possibly better on acoustic.
Très bon
It’s ight maybe I’m too uncultured to see what the hype is about. So far the immigrant song and tangerine are the only songs that really scratch that itch for me. I think this may be one of those cases that I like the music that was influenced by this album more than I like the album itself.
3.95
I need to listen to more zeppelin
Bon Album. À réécouter pour sélectionner les meilleures musique. 7,5/10

Beautiful album, loved the guitars
Probably my least listened to album of the ‘69-‘75 Led Zeppelin discography. While it was good overall I personally believe it’s a bit weaker than the others perhaps mainly in the ‘banger’ category. Starts off strong with Immigrant song but fails to meet the highs of that imo but the level of quality doesn’t drop massively even after this. Still an amazing album from a generational band but not quite getting over the threshold to push it to a 5 star rating.
Definitely the Zeppelin album I’ve listened to the least previously. It’s not my favourite by then, for sure, but it’s still great. I think there maybe 2/3 that I would give a 5/5, but this just didn’t quite do enough for me.
Lowkey earthy.
Led Zeppelin III walked so that Led Zeppelin IV could run.
I liked it mostly. I particularly the bluesey Since I've been loving you, also gallows pole and Tangerine. Im not massive on Robert plant's vocals but overall this was a worthwhile listen
That falsetto, though.
Great album, but it only has a couple songs that stand out to me, at this point. However, it is very well done, and the remaster sounds great. Definitely another classic, as all those initial Zeppelin albums are.
i mean yh
my new fave led zeppelin! FO!
I’m not sure this album really makes sense but it’s pretty good, I like the more folky songs and there’s some absolute classics on here
Solid
Actually pretty good, nonce though
I've never really gotten into Led Zeppelin which is probably my own fault but whatever. I liked the "chiller" vibe of a lot of these (like Tangerine, That's the Way, etc.). Not really what I expected from Led Zeppelin! Favorites: Gallows Pole, Tangerine, That's the Way
The first five Zep records are canonical, but this has to be my least favorite of the bunch. But that also means this is purely very good instead of excellent. I just don't tend to want to pull this one when I want to listen to them. Maybe a bit too acoustic for my tastes, at least for what I'm looking for out of this band.
Fav- Bron-Y-Aur stomp 4/5
A little more jamming and noodling than I would like, but you can't argue with The Immigrant Song.
это легендарно
Для меня единственная песня - that’s the way. Все остальное мимо. особенно последняя. надо еще в тексты вчитаться. Или не надо.
Sounds so fresh compared to LZ 1. Loved it but some of the songs do outstay their welcome.
Such a great album!
Really strong start and consistent throughout. Found myself enjoying the 12 string and slide guitar parts especially.
It's not their best but there's some great tracks on this one.
It opens with "Immigrant Song," a classic. Everything else on here, I'm encountering for the first time and, while nothing else really wowed me, it's generally pretty good quality. Weak 4-star rating.
Immigrant song. Great track
It’s Zeppelin so cannot go wrong!
Good album. Other than the big ones like Immigrant Song and Tangerine, I didn’t find it overly memorable, and the last track was kind of annoying. But it’s solid.
Led Zeppelin is back. Much to my surprise, the only song I was familiar with was the opener, which in my humble opinion carries this album heavily. Without it, I would actually rate this album a solid 3. As it stands though, much like Jimi Hendrix, even Led Zeppelin songs that I don’t recognize are still great. While my favorite song is undoubtedly “Immigrant Song”, which is a timeless classic, I did also thoroughly enjoy “Since I’ve Been Loving You” and “Tangerine”. I’m actually kind of baffled to not have heard of literally any of these songs before. I’ve been listening to Led Zeppelin my entire life, so to find this many deep cuts was actually a bit surprising to me, especially for one of their numbered albums. On the site, this is the second lowest rated of the Led Zeppelin albums, and yet still one of the highest rated albums on the site in general. For me, so far, I have rolled 3/5 Led Zeppelin albums. My rankings so far would have to be this as my least favorite, followed by Physical Graffiti, and then Led Zeppelin 2. Still to go are 1 and 4, the ladder of which is undoubtedly going to be my favorite. I don’t know man, I just found this one kind of whelming as a whole. Like, I see why 3 isn’t talked about as much as the more praised albums like 4. It definitely paved the way, but it’s not nearly as good. It’s Led Zeppelin, so it is still better than most of the albums I’ve heard so far on the site, but admittedly I’m largely going to forget this one compared to their other albums. I would DEFINITELY not call it disappointing, but it was kind of fillery. As previously stated though, Led Zeppelin filler is still totally killer, even though I don’t think a lot of these songs rank up their with the all time greats. Plus, it gave me a few to add to the frequent rotation. Always a bonus. This one is going to get a 4.2/5 for me. Still outstanding by the standard definition, but a little underwhelming by Led Zeppelin standards.
I was really surprised by this album. It was a lot more atmospheric than I was expecting. Some absolute bangers yes, but a lot of mood pieces.
TANGERINE!TANGERINE!TANGERINE! — me when I saw this (Tangerine is in my top 50 fav songs)
Felt like a space cowboy hehe
I liked how the album started and how it smoothly transitioned into blues. Very interesting work.
Amazing album. Almost perfect. Kind of loses steam at the end for me. But some of Zeppelin’s best tracks of all time are here.
Yay!
Not the biggest LZ fan but I loved this whole album
Very good!
Led Zeppelin III is the third studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released on 5 October 1970. The album showed a progression from straightforward rock towards folk and acoustic music. The album was one of the most anticipated of 1970.
Not my favorite Zep album, but still better than 75% of the albums on this list so far.
That’s Led Zeppelin alright Only song I knew from this one before was Immigrant Song (which still goes hard), so was kinda surprised by the contents of the rest of the album. There’s a lot of cool instrumentation going on (listen to that bass!) and I love some of those transitions. I just don’t know how I feel about the folk/acoustic sound paired with Plant’s vocals. The ones that are more subdued sound pretty good, but I just don’t like how Friends or Hats off sound. This is one where I’ll happily stick to the bangers and probably not listen to the full album again, but man the highs are high
Absolute classic. Only thing keeps this from full 5 stars is the oft-played and seriously overrated Immigrant Song and the brevity of the album. Several tracks from Physical Graffiti were recorded in these sessions, always wondered what could have been... From Friends to Celebration Day, Since I've Been Loving You, Tangerine, That's The Way, and that absolute classic Bron Y Aur Stomp, this comes at you and doesn't stop. When I was younger, it was a mission to find the 45 single Hey Hey What Can I Do, B side to Immigrant Song. Always loved that song, was eventually released in a box set years later. 4 1/2, but I'll go 4.
Good album, pretty sure everybody can agree on that. I feel like I was forced to listen to this album a few too many times and that causes just the slightest bit of resentment for this album. I feel like there were the iconic songs that I was just waiting for, and I didn’t really listen to the other songs. Still, good album.
Enjoyed this a lot, not as much as the other LZ albums I've gotten on here though. Loved the folkiness of it.
La primera mitad del album está bien. Luego, simplemente no es mi estilo.
Immigrant Song hits differently in 2026.
Not nearly as good as iv, it's still good but not amazing. I like led zeppelin, but some of the songs here were misses
Always found Led Zeppelin a bit intense, but this album was a gentle introduction to their music.
One absolute banger followed by 10 decent songs. Hard to meet the bar set by Immigrant Song but a totally decent listen, almost to the end.
Refined
I'm not sure I've listened to this entire album, but certainly many of the tracks are familiar. Here's my thing with Led Zeppelin: A lot of my formative years were spent listening to classic rock radio in the late 80s through the 90s. And Led Zeppelin was such a consistent staple of those radio stations, that I just got tired of them. So I've been mostly on a pretty strict "No-Zep" diet for quite a while. In addition, as a guitarist, I love Jimmy Page as a riff-writer, but I hate his playing. He's very sloppy. There aren't any really glaring examples of his sloppiness on this album, so it's got that going for it. So, this is fun to re-visit this album. But I don't think this one is their best.
- really great album - zeppelin has such a unique sound that you can tell by the first verse of one of their songs who’s playing, and this album is no exception - favorite songs: “Tangerine,” “Since I’ve Been Loving You, “Out on the Tiles,” and of course “Immigrant Song”
Led Zeppelin III is pretty solid, but is mostly overshadowed by their other albums, excluding the one single off of this album, "Immigrant Song". It did somewhat fall apart towards the end, becoming pretty repetitive, but I did enjoy "Tangerine" a lot. It has a very nice, warm atmosphere to it. Favorite Song: "Tangerine"
Led Zeppelin is my favourite band/artist of all time yeat this is probably the weakest of their first 6 albums. I very much like this record though and the folky influences on this thing make it quite unique. Friends is a really good songs but also the hard rock stuff here like of course Immigrant Song and Out On The Tiles are among the best on here.
Nobody will understand how excited I was for this, I LOVE Led Zeppelin. So groovy !! I really like the basslines. Fav song is ‘Tangerine’.
First off this cover art is crazy, I've never seen it. I only knew Immigrant Song prior to this listen. I enjoy the varied sounds here, with them going acoustic and folk on a couple tracks, I really liked and was drawn to Gallows Pole.
Listening session: january 28th, while commuting to internship Listened to before: not really Thoughts: the more familiar I get with Led Zeppelin, the more I understand that people compare Greta Van Fleet to them. Btw I really liked this album Favourite tracks: Immigrant Song, That’s The Way & Since I’ve Been Loving You
It's a great album, though probably my least favorite of the first four Led Zeppelin albums. It stands probably right at the middle of all of their releases for me. It's still got a lot of fantastic songs on there like Immigrant Song, Tangerine, and That's the Way, which would all probably be among my favorite songs of Led Zeppelin. The album art is also very eye-catching and dare I say ahead of its time. Overall though, I find below the mark compared to Zeppelin's other album, but it's difficult to compete with perfection.
Can’t go wrong with Lef Zeppelin. Several hits on this album, and the rest were good listening as well. (4)
A solid 4/5. I’ve always liked this album, but it doesn’t work for me nearly as much as the others on this list.
Mostly great. Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Out on the Tiles are all flat out bangers. That's The Way has aged very well and has grown on me over the years. But the ending is such a letdown. Hats Off To (Roy) Harper might be the weakest Zep track in their entire catalogue. So a four will have to suffice here.
4.25/5 Stars Top Songs: Tangerine, Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You
Since I've been loving you fue mi favorita, y en general es un buen álbum.
Many say this is on of Zeppelin’s weaker albums on their amazing 6 album run. I disagree, I prefer this to I and II simply because of the variety on offer here. Plus, Immigrant Song is their best opener and one of the greatest rock songs ever committed to tape.
very good but other led zeppelin albums are my favorites
Not my favorite Led Zep, but still a classic.
One of the best opening tracks and guitar riffs to start an album. ‘Immigrant Song’ is absolutely dope and always will be. I also love ‘Tangerine.’ Overall, it’s a fantastic album.
noice
The Zep shows a softer side. The lyrics are just a little bit cheesier than when I was a high schooler lusting for love and music. But this album still brings it with some roc, some partying and acoustic jams.
Solid album with the exception of the last song Hats off To (Roy) Harper. Favorite songs: Since I've Been Loving You, Tangerine, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, That's the Way
Perhaps the least talked about of their first 4, but really strong all the way through. “Out on the tiles” is top 5 Jimmy Page riff
4.5 Immigrant song, 1st thing Monday morning is a great way to start the week. Ive been listening to a lot of live Zeppelin lately. Unbelievable musicians, but they sure liked to wank alot
Good. Would listen again 4.1/5
mega 8/10 porque no es mi estilo, me gustó salir de mi zona de comfort
I really like this album! I didn't know this album before, but I recognize Immigrant Song from shrek and I'm fascinated lol
Didn’t finish but will
I listened to this album while I was organizing my books; I got into a flow state and couldn't stop bobbing my head. Immigrant Song was way shorter than I was anticipating, I expected it to be the kind of classic rock song that goes on for ages, but it was short and to the point. This album was also way more varied than I had been expecting, with a lot of weird production moments I admired; the strange artificial percussion to start Immigrant Song caught me completely off-guard, and I love how roughly Hats off To (Roy) Harper is mixed. I'm staring to realize that my perceptions of many of these classic bands are solely shaped by their big hits which pervade pop culture, and thus I keep getting surprised when their deeper cuts display a lot more variety and new ideas than I thought they would. Even just the cover of this album threw off my expectations of Led Zeppelin, but it perfectly captured the bright energy throughout this album. A fantastic bit of classic country-tinged rock; turns out there's a reason why so many of these classic bands are so acclaimed, who woulda thunk it? Highlights: Immigrant Song, Celebration Day, Since I've Been Loving You, Out on the Tiles, Gallows Pole, Tangerine, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Hats Off to (Roy) Harper
Pretty good, I knew immigrant song (don't know from where a movie probably) but never asked myself where it was from. Will keep on my phone.
Led Zeppelin III is the worst of the original 4 Led Zeppelin albums, which is like saying something is the worst Kubrick film, a monumental career achievement for anyone else but subpar for the lofty standards put on them. 8/10
Like the rock, like the folk, not fan of the tuning in Tangerine, very good album.
The acoustic-heavy back half drags this down just a bit but man that first half rocks. Every song from Immigrant Song to Out of The Tiles is killer.
I liked this album. Had heard Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You before but the whole album is interesting and enjoyable experience. Awsome groove and all instruments go together lovely. Hard to choose the best track as they all were great, but on the first listening I enjoyed Gallows Pole the most.
Good, not sure if it is my favourite Led Zeppelin album. Some good tracks, some ok.
Very hard to meet the bar that Immigrant Song set in the first song but I think this album managed to get close a lot afterwards
Of all of Led Zeppelin's first four albums, Led Zeppelin III is probably the weakest. Not weak mind you, just not as full of hit songs you'd recognize. Yes, you'd likely know Immigrant Song, perhaps the slow bluesy Since I've Been Loving You, and maybe Tangerine. Outside of Immigrant Song, though, none are big radio hits. Instead, Led Zeppelin III sees the band leaning into hard rock more. The blues are still there but less prominent. Led Zeppelin II is a transitional album. All the elements of ZOFO/IV are there, just not yet fully formed. Despite the lack of big hits, it's a great album to listen to. Therea re all of these little gems hanging around that perk your ears up.
Appreciate the pivots from hard rock to folky stuff. We contain multides when we get the LED out .
One of my favourite bands, and one of my favourite ever tracks - ‘Since I’ve been loving you’ is one of my Desert Island Disks. Not my favourite Led Zep album though, so I can’t give it a 5. Not sure what will ever get a 5… Total 10 tracks Fave track = #3
Goddamn peak
I thought it was pretty good, better than I expected from a Zeppelin album (I'm not super huge on rock).
yun pala yung immigrant song
Fun album would relisten to
Diary: I feel stressed out about exams. Its snowing a lot which is truly nice tho. I am in contact with Luca atm which has been nice. Classes could go better- good luck future me🗣 + I enjoyed this album most out of all I listen to up until now 🗣🫶🏻
My favourite from the fellas.
Better than I thought! I haven’t listened to much of Led Zeppelin, but I know Jeff Buckley was inspired by them, and I can definitely hear the similarities!
Since I’ve been loving you calls to me the most Veryyyyyy Led Zeppelin…. I do not like 70s rock I’m sooooo sorry 😭😭
Almost perfect Zeppelin album. Favorite track was "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper." The use of folk instruments like mandolin and banjo added to the blues element, harkening back to when blues and bluegrass first began integrating into what we know as rock n' roll today. Classic and relaxing. An example of remarkable instrumentation fused with creative song writing.
It's a great album, not my Led Zeppelin favorite but that's a high bar. A style I like, some of my favorite hits from the band... Pretty much a personal slam dunk.
Vauhtia alussa, blues alkaa lopussa olemaan jo liian vallitseva
#232/1001. I've always liked folky and acoustic zeppelin, and this album is heavily acoustic. III might even be my favourite zep. Somehow there is interesting rawness and experimentation which seems a bit like a step towards unknown since they were already a huge band. The album also gets quite psychedelic at points, which in this case is a merit. Oh, and I love the volvelle rotating album cover which I have in my vinyl version. So some of this review and points come from late 80s nostalgia...
Zepp are one of my biggest blindspots. Listened to S/T and IV years ago and wrote them off as the blueprint for Spinal Tap and not for me. Maybe it's the acoustic guitar and expertly ambling buildups that are piercing my indie rock heart but this was the sliding door from "I respect the craft" to "shit this is REALLY good!" People are talking about much Geese sounds like Radiohead or the Strokes, but I hear a lot more "Celebration Day" and "Gallows Pole" in their new record than anything else.
This was one of those Led Zeppelin albums that didn’t really stick with me as a kid. It’s certainly not as immediate as others in their catalogue, and I wasn’t so interested in the more folksy tendencies. I just wanted to hear some rock n roll, man. I suppose that realizing that this album is actually high quality is part of growing up. Those folksy songs being showcased here are some of the best, including but not limited to Tangerine and That’s the Way. We’ve also still got some blues rock going on with Since I’ve Been Loving You, which is absolutely a top 5 Zep song. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the true star of the show, John Paul Jones. He lays down some incredible bass lines, and his other organ and mandolin contributions actually make the record as incredible as it is. Still not my favorite Zep album, but revisiting it continues to pay off with time.
I think every song I know by Led Zeppelin is from seeing clips of Jack Black. Honestly I was picturing him rocking out through the whole album, which made for a pretty fun listening experience. I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. It’s got a nice mix of styles. I particularly liked the more mellow “Tangerine”. 4/5
I really wasn’t too keen on Physical Graffiti, too long, but this was amazing and helped to solidify my mixed feelings about Led Zeppelin into something more positive. Great opener followed by lots of stomping tracks. My high point was Tangerine, very simple but with an eastern influence. If only it didn’t end with Hats Off to Roy Harper, an out and out blues song that I felt detracted from their own unique blend of complex blues-tinged rock.
What a great way to start this journey. Listening with my 9 month old daughter while at home on a parental leave.
Excellent
Great Album, a little more quiet than the previous records. Fav: Gallows Pole
was expecting an album that was immigrant song for 45 minutes, but i was incredibly pleasantly surprised. this album has crazy range and I enjoyed it a ton.
favorite songs: since i’ve been loving you
Good album
Wow, what an album. Absolutely no skips. The instrumentation is incredible, and you can really tell the band is just having fun and being dynamic with their sound. Robert Plant’s vocals are amazing throughout. This album feels like a true masterpiece. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I can’t get enough of Tangerine and Friends. The first half of the album makes me feel like I’m defeating some beasts and the second half I’m frolicking in grass.
Re-appreciation for this album as I age. Overlooked by I, II, IV and PG this holds a special place as it got my youngest into Zeppelin (he couldn’t grasp Plants voice in Immigrant Song and wanted more). Gallows Pole to Bron-Y-Aur Stomp would make most careers, it’s just an especially lovely selection of songs here.
I like it. I love immigration song. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp too. And the Tiles one.
Great rock band. Great sound, and music. Timeless music.
8.5/10
I like the song Bron-Y-Aur Stomp the most, probably because thats the kind of music I usually listen to. To be honest, I also liked the instrumental parts better than the singing. I just don’t think I’m a big fan of Robert Plants voice, a bit controversial I know.
The beginning and end of the album are an absolute banger! The middle is a bit low, thought. Thus only 4/5. But as there is more LZ on the list we will get there!
Honestly, not my favorite Zeppelin. Immigrant Song, Tangerine and Bron-Y-Aur are standouts, Celebration Day and Since I’ve Been Loving You are great too. I have often thought that Jimmy Page’s true passion is acoustic guitar and he plays electric because that was the industry of his day. I don’t think I can give it less than a 4 but it’s really like a 3.5/5. Not my favorite Zeppelin, the tracks mentioned above are the only ones I care for and the “B-sides” (metaphorically) are almost opposite of typical hard rock Zep and instead have an acoustic blues vibe.
Great album! Love getting the Led out! Lol but this is definitely a classic
Zeppelin shows they can play acoustic while hitting hard with immigrant song, celebration day, and since I've been loving you.
Great album for cook/bake/cleaning.
Always great. This one is just a small notch down from some of their others. But they set the bar so high. 4.5
Always been my least favorite of the Led Zeppelin quadrilogy but still has it's moments. Favorite track: Since I've Been Loving You 3.5/5
começa mto forte com immigrant song e tem umas outras bem daora tipo tangerine mas meio inconsistente
* fave song - immigrant song (hm that’s the way & out on the tiles) * truly such an amazing album, loved how the first half was more rock heavy while the other half is more folksy. it was so hard to pick a favorite track because this album barely had any skips. would 100% listen again. however i didn’t LOVE the last track.
Great record. A real mix of sounds, but Zeppelin has better records, and I want to leave room to differentiate.
Being from the original punk generation, where The Clash's first album was Year Zero and everything that came before it needed sweeping away, I've always had a downer on Led Zep. One of those bands that the irritating, arrogant, know-it-all older kids at school all liked (see also: Rush, Yes and Genesis). Therefore, they must be shit. Hence, I've never listened to a Led Zep album before. But do you know what? I didn't hate this! There are some godawful tracks on here that deserve my punky disdain, but it's impossible to dislike Immigrant Song, Bron-yr-aur Stomp and Hats Off... (which is the best Robert Johnson pastiche I've ever heard apart from early White Stripes)! Overall, not terrible, although a lot of bands that copied them are.
Every Led Zeppelin album is the same to me
Album No. 0098 on my list. My second Led Zeppelin album already! (The first one being “Physical Graffiti”) This will probably never by my favorite Led Zeppelin album, but I can definitely appreciate why this has been an important album for the musical development of the band. The album is much more folk-influenced than its predecessors. I don’t like that necessarily, but I definitely can see why these folk influences shaped the future work of the band. What definitely strikes out is what an incredible accumulation of musical talent Led Zeppelin were, even on their somewhat less famous songs. They were really an outstanding group of musicians. I’ll add “Immigrant Song” (obviously), “Celebration Day”, “Since I’ve Been Loving You”, and “Tangerine” to my playlist. 4/5 stars!
very very solid
8/10 Favorite: Tangerine
Good.
Since I've Been Loving You in such a good song that this album is bumped up to a 4
A great deal of ass kicking… but does get a bit exhaustive after a while. I dig it, though.
-super groovy, head bopping. - the vocal range is crazy - really good introduction and strong start for an album -- dont know about a standalone track though - different to other rock bands/heavy rock from the era - a folk feel on the second track, really fun - like I said, so much head bopping - the almost middle eastern string part really sets an atmosphere where it comes it - the vocals stand out, as if they're layered on top and the music is sort of happening behind it - the next song is much more traditional rock - Robert Plants voice throughout takes a different tone! Again so versatile - Again the production style is very unique but also reflective of the time, vocals can feel separate to the instruments at time - instrumentation reminds me a bit of velvet underground - slows down for the next song, really impressed with the diversity on this album - Since I've Been Loving You is such a beautiful song meaning aside -- the guitar part especially feels so intimate - the song also expresses frustration and stress so well, a lot of resemblance to Janis Joplin - the rhythm section provides such good backing for an amazing guitar solo/part throughout, keeping the whole thing funky and, well, rhythmical! - didn't even realise the song was 7 minutes, does meddle on a bit but not noticably - like most 7 minute songs it has a very unique structure - my fav so far - added to the playlist - this song is much more riff driven then the past and more structured - time signature changes keep it interesting - being more structured also makes it more catchy than the last song, - throughout the rhythm section is so strong, especially the drumming and it stands out in this song with all the fills. John Bonham is truly exceptional - otherwise not a standout - back to a more acoustic sound again - although it's simple, the bass really adds something here as the song builds up - it gets faster slowly creating a feeling of anticipation or running -- matching the lyrics - got a bit repetitive after a while Tangerine - got genuinely confused when this song stopped for a second... - this song is a lot more pulled back than the others, and so sound sounding! - i really like this - added to the playlist - WHEN THE BASS COMES IN - almost makes me feel a bit nostalgic That's The Way - overall the songs are getting slower now, Tangerine and now this one - not particularly a stand out but the lyrics are beautiful - the ending sold me though - the ending is instrumentally beautiful and that moment of layered vocals!! - added to playlist just for vocals Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp - another folk/country sound - fun bop - astounded by how unique every song on this album is - the finger picking acoustic guitar style is v cool/impressive Hats Off To (Roy) Harper - the vocal effects is not very easily listenable too, sounds like its mocking a black womans voice/ a caricature - the lyrics... i know its a reference but still - repetitive - an unfortunately weak ending to an otherwise strong album (the last song was also not as compelling as the rest) 9/10 I think 9.5 but the ending kinda brought it down, will have to revisit my rating
Going to keep this short and sweet because once again my review did not save. Immigrant song is a classic, great opener. Friends and celebration day are perfect examples of why people think zeppelin is one of the goat rock bands. Incredible guitar and drums, mixed in with great background tracks and vocals. Since I’ve been loving you is just fine. Out on the tiles is forgettable but still a good song. Gallows pole is incredible. Best song on the album so far. Banjo mixed with electric guitar is awesome. Just keeps going in the best way. Never want it to end. Tangerine is a little goofy, not my fave. With that being said the guitar solo is super cool. That’s the way is very well written. Absolute ballad. Another great song. Guitar right off the bat on bron-y-aur 🔥🔥. The lyrics/harmony just go so well with it as well. Can’t help but tap my foot along. Sign of a great song. Never heard a guitar like the one on hats off. First half is A little too disorganized for me. Back half is really cool and a great outro for the album. This was an incredible album that I will be listening to again. Top to bottom great music. 4.3 stars
I love Led Zeppelin. They have a really distinct cool sound a great song writing. It's not my favorite album of there's but I'd still listen to it again. Big fan of their more folk-y mandolin songs
LFG AAAAAIAAAAAH AHHHHH Definitely some really good stuff in here. Classic rock, blues, real nice. Can’t believe I’ve never really listened to Since I’ve Been Loving You. Might have been my fave song on here. I was asked last week what the best led zeppelin album was and I said IV. This one is pretty damn good too though. Was super easy listening throughout the whole album. I love this band. Last song I could’ve done without though. Weak ending to an overall very solid album.
A real neat, pretty creatively dynamic and texturally raw album. This is the first led zep album I’ve listened through fully. Definitely not my wheelhouse. Was preparing for some dive bar dad rock, but was pleasantly surprised at the musical range and creativity from songwriting down to mix. Enjoyed the second half of the album the most. ‘Tangerine’ is a bop. And the way the second half dips in energy and ends with an exceptionally creative mix and energetic song was neato. Good stuff.
Tangerine is one of my favorite songs ever so this is going to get a high score on that alone
Quite good but not my vibe, i did enjoy the beat of all the songs
Fun album to listen to in its entirety. I've never listened to a full led zeppelin before. I understand the hype. Late 60s is a fun time for music.
...hence my journey of listening to all led zep s/t albums ends here. 4/5
I mean yeah like of course. Led Zeppelin. 3 might honestly be my least favorite of their catalogue but you won’t catch me complaining at all.
After the propulsive blast of “Immigrant Song,” Led Zeppelin III reveals a very different band from their first two albums. The blues influence is still strong—right through the unusual closing track—but it’s joined by a newfound embrace of acoustic, folk, and country sounds. Page and Bonham each shine on their respective showcases, while banjo, mandolin and steel guitar broaden the group’s range. The result is an album that expands Zeppelin’s scope beyond hard rock and paves the way for the masterpiece of Led Zeppelin IV.
Cool album! Anything that opens with immigration song is a win
love it - Robert Plant vocal masterclass !!!! Aged like a fine wine
A timeless classic, im always in awe of the amount of nuanced detail and mastery of musicality and instrumentalism led zeppelin are. The medieval origins shine through apparent and the fantastical element to there spmgwriting is continually in the foreground, which is no bad thing. Bonzos drumming is impeccable as always but still not fully realised, in contrast however, Plants vocals are at an absoloite pinnacle on this album. Loved it.
szczerze underrated, przeze mnie również; chociaż o wiele bardziej wolę pierwsze dwa albumy to - immigrant song, since i've been loving you, tangerine, bron y aur stomp są absolutnie świetne, ale też friends i celebration day mi się podobały :3 jakoś tak powoli zaczynam lubić bardziej akustyczne, folkowe nawet klimaty; więc 4,5 jeśli można to oceniać wgl, bo jest iconic, nawet jeśli mniej niż I, II i IV oo i to chyba jakieś przeznaczenie, że akurat led zeppelin za pierwszym dniem :D
Immigrant Song is awesome and a classic, the rest of the album was decent but not legendary and I kinda disliked the final track. Overall 4/5
Nothing like starting a Tuesday morning with “Immigrant Song”. Zep really is the quintessential rock band. Zep III seems to be more subdued than their previous albums notwithstanding the first track (possibly the hardest track in their discography). Celebration Day and Tangerine being my two favorite.
Tangerine and Since I’ve Been Loving You are arguably the only perfect songs on the album. Not a no skips album. 4/5.
Adding in the acoustics. Good album. Not my favorite Zep but has one of the all time rockers, Immigrant Song.
awesome album. i still prefer led zeppelin IV over III as a whole, but id probably also put this over II. standout tracks: since ive been loving you, gallows pole, tangerine
Great sound legendary album
Fantastic! Never heard this Zep album before but I will be returning, Immigrant song is a fantastic opener, and then slowing it down with Friends was a great transition. Vocals are amazing of course, really love the strings on Friends.
Wish it would've kept going. Really liked both the first and second half. Didn't think I have ever heard the type of sound they made like folk rock almost the second half, really liked Tangerine and Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp specifically.
lz folk, immigrant song + bron yr aum stomp
Not their best, but such a damn good album. Songs I've heard but didn't know the names of. 8/10
Seemed a little more bluesy than the others I’ve recently listened to. Very good.
a mix of really good songs and some that are more mediocre
really good
“We come from the land of the ice and snow from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow” In my opinion the most underrated entry in Led-Zeppelin’s discography. Led-Zeppelin III has two distinct halves. The opening half contains the kind of rip-roaring electric British Invasion tracks that the band were more known for at the time of the album’s release (albeit with a hefty folk influence which sets the tracks apart from Led-Zeppelin and Led-Zeppelin II). The back end of the record is far softer and takes a more acoustic turn. III opens on arguably Led-Zeppelin’s most famous track, Immigrant Song. Which I would argue more would recognise on just hearing it than they would Stairway to Heaven. It is likely the best classic rock album opener ever if not the best album opener full stop. The two sides are reflected perfectly in my personal favourite track Gallows Pole. It opens with typically softly sung lyrics from Robert Plant accompanied by gentle guitar strummings from Jimmy Page. I’ve always found that Led-Zeppelin in particular had a stunning ability to conjure images in my brain through their lyrics. This quality is ever-present throughout III and Gallows Pole achieves that as effectively as any of their other songs. As the song progresses the tempo gradually increases. We hear the introduction of a banjo supporting the guitar at an increasing pace. This eventually gives rise to electric guitar lines guiding Gallows Pole through its crescendo, which sounds more like something you would hear on the first half of the album. Beyond Gallows Pole there is a clear shift in energy as Zeppelin wind down into the quieter folkier back half but the songwriting and musicianship remain just as captivating. Tangerine is a beautiful and relaxing tune whilst Bron-Y-Aur Stomp picks up the pace slightly before closing things out with Hats Off to (Roy) Harper. Led-Zeppelin III holds your attention firmly throughout, features some of Page’s best playing on Since I’ve Been Loving You, and was the first of their albums to put their folk influences at the forefront of the songwriting. It was a crucial step on the journey to the next album, which I consider to be their masterpiece. Without the artistic leap taken here we may have gone without some of the greatest rock music of the 1970s. Led-Zeppelin III should be considered one of the most important albums of all time if only for this.
Probably a 5, but feel like it wasn’t as good as LZ IV, so I’ve gone done one. Simpsons: Yes
Although it's not my favorite Led Zeppelin album, the dudes still created magic through most of these 43 minutes.
Only one song I was aware of before. I liked this album, but it wasn't incredible
Classic Zeppelin sound. A lot of track I hadn’t heard before, which is somewhat embarrassing. Solid album.
Immigrant song, Fire
Unexpected to hear Led Zeppelin have a folky sound, but I kinda dug it. I was surprised at the soul behind some of the songs.
Swingin' On The Gallows Pole 1001 Albums Generator 171 (11/27/2025) The black sheep of Led Zeppelin's 4 self-titled albums, Led Zeppelin III is certainly the one that I have spent the least time with. Although it opens with one of their most famous songs, the hard rockin' Immigrant Song, this is not representative of what much of the rest of the album has in store. You see, LZ3, especially its second half, is Led Zeppelin's "folk rock" album, which has mixed results. Gallow's Pole and Tangerine are up there with my favorite Zeppelin songs, but Friends and Hats Off To (Roy) Harper are really not great. The latter especially has some experimenting that just falls flat unfortunately. Meanwhile, we've got a few other lesser known hard rock songs here that are overall pretty good. Celebration Day and Out On The Tiles are really great deep cuts and Since I've Been Loving You is really soulful and honestly, quite beautiful. In general, the second half of the album is just weaker and is probably the weakest side of any of LZ's first 4 albums, but it still has some great tracks. Led Zeppelin III deserves its reputation as the worst of the first four albums, but it should not be overlooked; there is a lot of quality here. 3.5/5, rounded up to a 4. Favs: Immigrant Song Since I've Been Loving You Gallows Pole Least Fav: Hats Off To (Roy) Harper
Immigrant Song carries a lot of this album, but the rest was still pretty enjoyable to listen to.
Led Zeppelin is always a good listen. This isn't my favorite of their albums, but it is still great.
Better than anticipated! Has immigrant song, and an eclectic track list
3.5
Listened to this along with a few other Zepp albums about a month ago and I must say that my rating for this one has vastly improved from that time to this. I have finally trounced my Led Zeppelin apathy! There was a time they were my favorite band and I cherished the fact that I knew every single one of their studio recordings well. Once I went to college and started listening to more contemporary music than classic rock, I fell out of love with this band hard.
The drums deserve a good remaster.
i really like the music and it’s construction but honestly sometimes the lyrics just don’t do it for me
Qué banda, lpm. 8/10
Feels good rock in the most classical sense. It’s not exactly my kind of music, but I really can’t think of too much rock music that I’ve liked more from a holistic stand point. Very solid album.
Very good, huge improvement
4 de 5
Great album, solid and classic throughout.
Classic, but only really remembered one good number, should be a 3.5 for me
Not my favourite Led Zep album, but still top stuff. Does feel like the transitionary album between II and what follows. Tangerine and That's the Way were my highlights.
The Folk Album:) The rest of the album is a great follow up to The Immigrant Song
Zep gonna Zep, which means lay down absolutely undeniable riffs, gorgeous guitar work, and display an obscene amount of talent in Plant’s voice. A couple of tracks on here don’t stand out so it’s knocked down a peg.
Love the eclectic nature of the album. Hidden gem in the LZ catalogue
Absolutely incredible album from Led Zeppelin, as all of their first 4 albums are. Starts powerfully with Immigrant Song, and powers through some absolutely killer tracks. They shift the pace a couple of times to good effect on this album too, Since I’ve Been Loving You being the first indication of a slightly different approach to their first and second albums. The acoustic numbers are great too. Soooo close to a 5/5, but just marginally short in standard compared to I, II and IV in my opinion. 9/10 it is.
One of the great album openers. But one of zeppelin's weaker albums imo.
Moins aimé que II et IV, je trouve c'est plus un album de jam que de tounes bien construites. Même Since I’ve been loving you m'accroche pas pour le moment... J'ai aimé le genre de Sea shanty Gallows Pole. Ce que j'aime par-dessus tout de Led Zep c'est le côté "live" des enregistrements, et le musicianship.
much more varied than its reputation deserves - some gentler vibes, but all with swing and drive
Not my favorite Zeppelin, but, it IS Zeppelin.
11/11/25. Happy Veteran's Day! Glad I got to revisit this one, some lesser-known songs (to me) that include great gutar work by Jimmy Page. I'll have to pick up my guitar and learn a few of these. The acoustic tracks are my favorite!
Classic, prime zep
Pretty class. First time listing to it. Couple duds in there though
Gallows Pole was very good and rest was also soothing to my massive brain
Amazing guitar playing and some great tunes. Classic songs like ‘Immigrant song’ and ‘Since I’ve been loving you’.
Really enjoyed - mix of rocky/bluesy tunes. Some naughty guitar riffs.
Very nice, but probably not my fav LZ
Loved the opener - their trademark driving heavy Rock bluesy styie which I think they do better than anyone - and the slightly more psychedelic song following it. The rest of side 1 was more perfunctory but I thought the folkier side two was excellent, it's Wild just how much Jack White channelled this vocally and thematically. Thats the Way had nice almost Pink Floyd touches and twangs.
Not necessarily the most fond of this album, like other Zeppelin records. However, their standard of greatness is as high as any of the greatest bands ever, which objectively, I believe they deserve to be in that conversation. So a less than stellar Zeppelin record, is still a damn good record. Yes, 1,2,4 are in my opinion, better, which seems to be a popular opinion, but that's for a reason. Those 3 are peak Rock music. This lags just behind. 4/5
Not much to say about this album other than it's underrated in Led Zeppelin's discography. Is it essential, though? Not for me to decide I guess.
Another great Zeppelin record, and an awesome album overall. Gret song, now classics, and a show of mastery of the craft. Not a lot to add, I really really liked this one. Context: I know of better LZ albums, imo. This is saying a lot, because only LZ could make a better LZ album. That being said, I am comparing them to themselves against my taste, And there are other LZ albums i prefer.
I'm somewhat ashamed to say in my life of 40+ years, I've never fully explored Zeppelin's discography until this project came along (yet another reason why I love this project). This record is an incredible journey through music. So many moods, unique sounds, instrumentation, vocals, ambiance, all of it. I recognize Zeppelin has stolen a good bit of their music from other artists over their tenure, and that's something that happens in music. This album captures such creative and passionate spirit with respect to music-making and it inspires a lot in me. Can't wait to listen to this again.
Least favourite Zeppelin album
Led Zeppelin. Great music, weird lyrics. This is a great album for good reason, but it feels a little incoherent. The bits between the tracks. Is this an attempt at a tip of the hat towards a concept record, or are they standalone moments of sound art? The filow of the songs is odd and nonsensical? Is that intentional or not? Maybe these things can be explained by the lore behind this LP, which I have no interest in uncovering.
Contains multiple indispensable songs from the Led Zeppelin canon: "Immigrant Song", "Friends", "Since I've Been Loving You", "Gallows Pole", "Tangerine" But even the lesser offerings, such as "Out on the Tiles" and "That's The Way" are great. Except for "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper)" which I don't really care for. This album tends to fall between the cracks of their discography, since it's surrounded by albums that weigh heavier in the cultural context. However, I appreciate the more folk-focused offerings. This album feels like it's secretly Jack White's main inspiration for The White Stripes more than other LZ albums. I own this on vinyl, but I listened to the hi-fi version on Tidal. Standout tracks on this listen: Tangerine, Gallows Pole, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
This album was a lull between the raw energy of Zeppelin albums 1 & 2 and the absolute banger that was Zeppelin 4. Although not as accomplished as the other 3 albums it still contains classic tracks. It goes to show how brilliant Led Zeppelin were that this album could be seen as a dip in form, it’s still a bloody good album.
The best Zeppelin album? Definitely the best of the numbered albums. This album sounds a lot darker and angrier than a lot of their other stuff and I’m all for it. Since I’ve Been Loving You is probably my favourite Zeppelin song, and I could easily listen to a 20 minute version of it. Solid stuff.
Not their best work but still very enjoyable
Loved it. 4/5
Damn good album. A little over the top and self-indulgent at times, which I guess is typical for Zep.
4.1/some real classics and i like the country twang
Yet another familiar and well listened album. I've had it in my collection for about 30 years now, not the most listened to album, but well loved. I've got nothing new to say about this album, except that I like it, for the most part a lot. Only the bluesy slow songs are not my thing, even those sometimes grow into bangers towards the end of the song.
led zeppelins foray into folk-esk rock, but still heavy in a zeppelin kind of way.
Great album. Enjoyed listening to it front to back. Recognized some of the songs that were in movies. You can never go wrong with led zeppelin.
I was pleasantly surprised by this album. It had a good mix of genres. That's the Way was the best song IMO but Hats off to (Roy) would have won out if the audio didn't only come out of one side! Still it was a good album
Great album! I like Zeppelin's mix of rock and roll and southern. Good inclusions of banjo and classic rock song.
i've heard this toooo and i like it. Led zeppelin means a lot to me like memories and as a great musical discovery, and this album is one of the best from discography i think. Not my favourite, but i really like "since i've been loving you" and other songs from this. Honestly i didn't single this album out for the first time i listened to it, but today i listened to it again to refresh the memory and remembered how it's good actually. Clearly 9/10, not 10 because for me 10/10 it's led zeppelin I
This is a favorite band of mine, so it's nice to get their albums.
Each Led Zeppelin album I've heard has had a great opening tune or two and a rather mediocre rest of the album. This had a great opening tune, but the rest of the album was pretty decent too.
definitely one of the greatest, but not my number 1 go from Zep
Classic Led Zeppelin, one of my favourites, would be an all time classic but the final track let's it down.
On Led Zeppelin III, the band shifted away from the bombastic blues-based hard rock of their first two albums and explored folk and quieter sounds, forever diversifying their sound from that point forward and laying the path for its most interesting work. It’s my favorite Zeppelin album along with Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti. “Out on the Tiles” is the only slight weak link, an uptempo rocker that doesn’t fit with the rest and sounds especially jarring coming after the heavy pathos of “Since I’ve Been Loving You,” a blues rocker I will forever associate with a painful episode in high school.
What needs to be said?
Oh Led Zepplin III, what an odd project you are. I have always had pretty mixed feelings about Led Zepplin II and III but I feel on this relisten I have actually gained much more appreciation for this album as a whole. It may not be as exciting or energetic as I or II, but damn it does this album slowly build up on you and really hit you with some killer compositions and song structures that have you on a whole other level. The writing really gets to shine here as I would say Led Zepplin III has some of the band's best written songs from what I can remember about their discography. I mean come on, just listen to Tangerine and tell me that song isn't gorgeous on every level you can think of. I know not a lot of people enjoy the final track Hats Off to (Roy) Harper, but y'know what I actually found that track to be quite fascinating even with it being the obvious black sheep of the album. Much like the rest of this album, it is a departure from what we knew Led Zepplin could do while also keeping a lot of the core elements of the band we all know and love. Led Zepplin III is a risk in nearly every way you could imagine, and I can see that still being shown in the overall reception of this album. The ratings are all over the place and my own rating will add to the sporadic nature of this album's reception. I implore you all to give this album another shot as I originally thought this was the weakest of the tetralogy but now may just happen to find this to be the best one of the 4. I will have to see how much I enjoy Led Zepplin IV, but what I can confidently say now is that I will surely be returning to this album much more than I did before as I now see this as quite the spectacle I never appreciated fully before.
Shockingly I've never really listened to Led Zeppelin. Yes, I know Immigrant Song and Stairway to Heaven. Enjoyed this one. Varied styles, interesting instrumentation. Looks like there's more opportunities to get to know them in this list.
top
Ganske bra! Står mellom 3 og 4 da jeg syntes dette er det dårligste av de 4 første, men velger å runde opp her.
I liked it, just not quite as much as the first two
I was surprised by the folk-y sound of the back half of this album. For my personal taste it opened strong and got weaker toward the back of the album. Standouts were “Friends” and “Tangerine”
Listened Before? N Wow, this is a really solid album. I much prefer this to Zeppelin II, and it is nearly as good as IV. LOVE Since I've Been Loving You. New favorite zep song for now. All-around good sound - lots of bluesy stuff mixed with actual hard rocking songs. A+ Added to Library? Y Songs added to playlist: Since I've Been Loving You
I enjoyed this but I thought led zep ll > lll. Hoping IV pops up soon.
The most varied of Zeppelin's early work, with an ambitious breadth not matched until Physical Graffiti. Careens noisily around for a side, then settles and chills out up by slate mine in Gwynedd for the other side. Best bass tone on a Zeppelin album? Favourite tracks: Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Gallow's Pole, Tangerine,
8/10 Favourite: Since I've Been Loving You Least Favourite: Friends
I’m torn between a 3 and 4 tbh. There are some forgettable songs on here and some that don’t work for me. But I mean, Since I’ve Been Loving You and Tangerine might push it over. I really think Zeppelin is at their best on those softer tracks
Great album although not as good as I remember. 4 but probably only because it's led Zeppelin. The bangers are amazing though
This album is a little "hit and miss" for me, but undeniably good
Fantastic, great classic rock album. Since I've Been Loving You is so monumental!
Not my favorite Les Zeppelin album, but that’s like saying strawberry isn’t my favorite ice cream - there are no bad Zeppelin albums. I do love “Bron-Y-Aur stomp”, “Tangerine” and “Immigrant song” (am I wrong or that song sampled everywhere?), and groove to the rest even if they’re not as melodically captivating.
Pretty great album. First 2 songs are the best imo and the song later on with lots of slide.
No bias, totally. But still not their best album
Not Led Z's best album, but it has some of their best songs (Immigrant Song, Tangerine, Since I've Been Loving You). Absolute classic.
I’m a fan. I do prefer their heavier, even proggier stuff and this is not among my favorite of their releases. Hard to dispute that the opener “Immigrant Song” isn’t among their best. “Since I’ve Been Loving You” is straight-up blues, but it’s a good one. The rest of the album is very folky, and fades a bit for me.
Little to say about this one , it’s just really good
Good album, started strong, ended a bit weak
3.5 stars I was going to give this one 3 stars. Because my recollection of it was that it was a 3 star album, propped up by the megastar tracks “Immigrant Song” and “Since I’ve Been Loving You”. The first side has a lot of filler. The melodies on “Celebration Day” and “Out on the Tiles” (aka the intro to “Black Dog” on How the West Was Won) are just not great. However, just how good the 2nd half had slipped my recollection. Everything but “Hats Off” is phenomenal. I thought the album was slight, but those lighter songs carry a load. The filler weighs it down, but this album still hits.
первая песня сразу бомбаааа, дальше ну обычно. но в целом норм прикольно
The less popular songs really lean into the blues huh. Still, I was tapping my toes
The final Led Zeppelin album of the 4 self titled, and the first I won't be giving a 5 to. I really don't think there's much on here that screams "MUST LISTEN" outside of Immigrant Song. This is still a good listen and probably a requirement when perusing their discography, but this record really is carried by its lead single. Led Zeppelin were such a groundbreaking band even to the point that what I consider as one of their worst albums is still getting a 4. Pretty good stuff.
OOoooOoooOoo mamamamamama YEAAaaaaaaeeeeaa YEA YEA YEA ooooOooOo little girl I wanna OOOoooo little girl I wanna YAEEAYYEAAYYEAA hepebophiliah isn’t the same thiYEAAHHAA weoooOooooOoOoo
Phenomenal album with no skips but since ive been loving you is such a masterpiece that it puts the album into perspective and nothing else really holds a candle 9/10
Immigrant Song brings this score up tremendously
not my favorite Zepplin album, but they are icons and I can hear a lot of later music that they definitely influenced with this album
It's a great album. I slept on Led Zeppelin for a long time. The instrumentation is fantastic. But I don't come back to it again and again. 4 stars.
What’s not to like. Classic sound from an iconic band.
i meannnn it’s led zeppelin, it’s got tangerine and immigrant song on it which are brilliant. reserving my 5’s for absolute favourites but it would be a 4.5
"Immigrant Song" is, of course, awesome, and there are lots of hints at what's coming in IV, but this stands on its own really well with great energy and range.
Zoso and Houses of the Holy fully triggered something in my adolescent brain which eventually led me to grab each Zeppelin album as it popped up in our local used CD store (Weird Harolds represent!) What they start here will fuel all of their best music moving forward, but of all of the pantheon albums, I find III to be the most uneven and least essential. "Friends" and "Celebration Day" are bonafide staples, but they've never clicked for me, which more or less stops the whole project from ever being something I ever listen to front and back since they're tracks two and three. There are a dozen songs in their catalog that sound like "Out on the Tiles," and all of them are more inspired. "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper" benefits from hearing "Shake Em On Down" (the version I found was by RL Burnside) but the stereo separation and vibrato amplifier are unsettling. I could see it messing with someone on the wrong substances. If they'd swapped any of those out for "Hey Hey What Can I Do," a b-side to "Immigrant Song," I would approve. All that said, it contains some of the very best Zeppelin: "Immigrant Song" which always seems like it's too overplayed, too over-the-top, but then it kicks into gear and kicks a$$ all over again; "Since I've Been Loving You" swelters into a groove that I imagine pairs well with the *right* substances; "Gallows Pole" and "Tangerine" are Robert Plant at his best; "That's the Way" never mattered to me until it was situated with the right visuals in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous (and now matters to me a great deal.) I'll save my most effusive praise for "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp," possibly the single Zeppelin song I most look forward to running into all these years later, after the call to head banging has faded and there is no one to simply drive around with listening to music with the windows down. Page's guitar is so propulsive and Robert Plant's vocals are so sly. The breakdown in the second half of the song is absolute dynamite. It's enough to wish they had a full collection of all of their songs performed acoustically. Three stars + an extra star for "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" sounds about right.
Very good
more interesting than the first two albums, because they don't rely on the bombastic guitar riffs and drum parts as much. However what brings most of their material down is that the feeling of groundbeaking music wears off more and more.
So many bangers on this album, specially "Since I've Been Loving You" <3
Highlight Song/s: Immigrant Song, Out on the Tiles and That's the Way I previously heard the first four (separate from 1001) back in June-July of this year for the first time, hearing songs here and there before that. The one that stood out the most to me was definitely III. Most likely as this one lacks the excessive banshee wailing that infected the first two. And perhaps musically it isn't nearly as frantic as the first two. I particularly enjoy the second half of the album (except for Hats Off.) I also enjoy that the lyrics got a lot more intelligent, instead of just sex this and sex that, love me baby and all that crap; just exceptionally lazy writing. And they seemed to continue to mature with the songwriting after releasing this album, which is great.
I like how western-y some of the guitars are?? I was not expecting that at all
still very good (vinyl)
найс.
Immigrant song and since I've been loving you are a couple of my favorite songs. Album was outstanding!
Varierat! Akustiska låtarna bättre än jag minns
Flera riktigt härliga låtar utöver Immigrant Song som är en av deras bästa låtar nånsin!
Inte riiktigt min grej egentligen. Så att det ändå blir en fyra säger mycket!
Not my go-to for a Zep record if I’m throwing one on, but there’s good stuff here either way.
III is a great album, but probably my least favorite of the Zeppelin records on this list. You can’t really start stronger than “Immigrant Song,” yet the album never brings that same energy back. Not that the other songs are bad, but when you lift me up that high right out of the gate, it’s tough to sustain. That said, “Tangerine” is, and always was, their best song.
I'm finding it really difficult deciding whether to give a 3 or 4. Immigrant Song is a brilliant opener, and though the album is certainly a good listen overall, nothing on else on the album comes close to touching track one - and I don't think that's coming from my previous bias of being way more familiar with Immigrant Song than the rest of the album. I definitely enjoyed Led Zeppelin III more than Dusty in Memphis, which I gave a 3, but as an entire album, I thought Radiohead - Okay Computer was a better overall listen than this, so scored it a 4. Is the strength of one song enough to push it up to a 4 is my question? Will listen to again. Think I will bump up to a 4 because I do like this album and Immigrant Song is just brilliant even if the overall album is maybe a 3 for me.
Great album. Starts out great with Immigrant song. Overall enjoyable.
i love led have such a soft spot for it!! never listened to this album fully through was a great experience i def wanna do again
With 𝘓𝘦𝘥 𝘡𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯 𝘐𝘐𝘐 , the band pivoted from pure hard rock into a daring mix of thunderous riffs and folk-psychedelic textures. The opener 𝘐𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨 is pure power, but much of the album finds Zeppelin exploring acoustic guitars, mandolins, and trippy atmospheres on songs like 𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘦 and 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘯-𝘠-𝘈𝘶𝘳 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘱. It’s not flawless, yet the blend of weight and whimsy makes this one of their most adventurous and rewarding records.
I’m not the biggest fan of Immigrant Song even though it’s one of their most popular, so I admit I wasn’t loving the start. But then the fourth song I really liked and I felt like the rest of the album was pretty strong. Still not my favorite Led Zeppelin album but liked it a lot more than I thought I would at the start
7.25/10 first half was better, more country towards the end than rock
Hieno levy, ja yhden kappaleen päässyt kuulemaan livenäkin alkuperäisen laulajan esittämänä.
Kyllä rokkaa! 😎Ei niin kova kuin IV.
An enjoyable sub-plot of this is me turning this project into 'How I Learned to Stop Worrying And Love Dad Rock' because this was great? The folk influences really enjoyable. Immigrant Song an all-timer.
Immegrant is one hell of an opening track. An album of good ol' fashion blues-tinged rock. The sound makes all members of the band feel like leading men, the bass doesn't play under the guitar and the drums aren't just for rhytm, it's part of the song. They even find time for a rockversion of a traditional. They turn down the tempo on the B side, for a reasonably rocking experience.
Acoustic and tinges of country show they could play any style, not the hits Immigrant song Since I've been loving you
