capsula del tempo

This album will always feel special to me because of high school, when my friends and I bonded over it. It marks a real progression for Led Zeppelin - shifting from hard rock into more folk-inspired sounds, while still showcasing their incredible musicianship. At the time of its release, it actually received mixed reviews, with many critics not knowing what to make of the sudden turn toward acoustic and folk influences. But in hindsight, that change in direction feels crucial. It showed the band’s willingness to evolve, absorb outside influences, and prove that they were more than just volume and riffs. It’s a pivotal moment in their history, reflecting growth, experimentation, and a unified focus as a band. A turning point that expanded what Led Zeppelin could be.

Mi canción favorita es el blues Since I've Been Loving You.

It was just a mediocre led zeppelin album, but from gallows pole on it gets a new dimension that improves it and makes it more unique

3.8 they appropriated the black south as Brits, charming

Songs: Immigrant Song, Tangerine

This rocks hard, Led Zeppelin rocks. Pretty iconic. Maybe wasn't in the best headspace for it, but yeah it rocks.

I had not heard this before. Already acquainted with a couple of the other Zeppelin denim bell bottom bulging crotch heavy blues records, but this seems a detour into some other state of mind. Far be it from me to assess the qualities and characteristics of this legendary collective. That's all, I don't have any pointers for the band or for the listeners. I can imagine the kind of inner journey you might take with this record on vinyl, big antique speakers, and the lights down low. Let the scene of Vikings invading Iceland play out in the theater of your mind.

The MVP of this album is John Paul Jones. It incorporates more acoustic arrangements and folk instruments than I and II. To me it marks a pivot and expansion in Zeppelin's sound from just a great hard rock band into one of the best bands of all time. The songs are creative, more complex, and more daring. But there are still hard rockers, "Immigrant Song" being iconic and "Out on the Tiles" being underrated. "Since I've Been Loving You" is the epic peak of the album. That said, I'm not a fan of "Tangerine" and "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper". The latter especially just kind of annoys me, though I commend them for trying something different.

What can you say. One of he first hard rock icons of our time. Their were other albums from led that had more radio appeal and well known songs, but all creates emotion, musicianship, and creativity.

Very solid album.

A fantastic album! Not perfect, but some damn fine songs. My favorite is Since I’ve Been Loving You, and my favorite thing about that song is hearing the squeaky bass drum pedal. It’s so cool that you can hear something that now a days would be removed by a computer.

Not my favorite Zeppelin album, but it's still a Zeppelin album!

Peak zeppelin.

While making Tomato Jam

Timeless seminal rock album, Dewey Finn and his School of Rock using Immigrant Song to teach the fundamentals of the genre was no accident. I think it can get pretty one note after a while with the length of the tracks and lack of variety in the riffs, but it's still an enjoyable rock rollercoaster that is enjoyable as it is educational.

i enjoyed it

They already could make bluesy rock songs, and here is where they embraced acoustic elements, expanding their sound and moving in new directions

Banger after banger

Awesome, even geen tijd voor uitleg. Moet inkomen na de vakantie

Yep good a staple in classic rock

yes yes YES.

I really enjoyed this. Immigrant Song - a classic. But several others on here I’d never heard which I loved too. Friends, Since I’ve Been Loving You. Second half nowhere near as good but the strength of the first ensures a four from me.

really cool departures from their sound in this while still being so distinctly them. Tangerine is one of my favorites

Without Immigrant Song it would be a 3 star album.

Not much left to say that hasn’t been said before... It’s not the best Led Zep album, it’s not my favorite one either, but it’s still a timeless record with more than a few legendary songs. "Since I've Been Loving You" still sends shivers down my spine. Too bad a couple of other tracks are among their weakest.

Always liked this one less than the other early Zeppelin records due to the lack of heavy riffs and more acoustic parts but I enjoyed it more than I remembered.

It's hard to believe that I got into Zeppelin's entire discography last Fall. It felt so weird to have waited so long to hear the most CLASSIC of all rock bands (these or The Beatles), but thankfully, I've now dabbled in all of their main-line studio albums. Number 3, from months ago, I remember being extremely solid and the surprise runaway #2 favorite in the quad of albums behind the monster that is IV. It starts off extremely familiar with the Immigrant Song, goes into some noticeable waters with the acoustically tinged "Friends" and some head-bopping on "Celebration Day". "Since I've Been Loving You" gets the blues flavor that they were going for on the first album perfectly and even better than before. 7 minutes of runtime and they're all worth it. Then back to the head-bopping on "Out On The Tiles". The first side is just Zeppelin being Zeppelin doing what they do best. Side Two is where they take the more acoustic route and it results in a more unique full record. I think my most surprising take about Zeppelin's discography is that I don't care much for Tangerine which a lot of people seem to enjoy. I'm a bigger fan of That's The Way which I think is very underrated. Seriously, that's one of Zeppelin's best tracks. It's no "Going To California" in terms of acoustic Zeppelin, but man, it hits. This record while I believe is deserving to be recognized for its legacy pales in comparison to what they would do next. The next 3 albums are what turned Led Zeppelin from one of the best rock bands to straight geniuses. It's still pretty good (except the last song, it's pretty weird)(8/10, 4/5 on this scale)

like an intense road trip, has everything

I love Zeppelin, however, I still believe there isn't a perfect full album of theirs. Immigrant Song perfected what their first two albums created, and Since I've Been Loving You might be my favorite Zeppelin track ever. But something is lost on side B and I don't care if it was them experimenting or showing their range, it didn't hold up to the rest.

Мне понравилось сильно больше, наверное, всего, что я у них слушал до этого. Лучшая песня - Immigrant Song.

Not their best album, but still a great one.

I actually don’t love this as much as some other Led Zeppelin albums. Still a great album though.

-1 because there's only so much Robert Plant I can take. I dont want to like them, I want to think its all hype but goddamn they can really play. 4/5

Qué buenoooo.

You will find fewer people who are bigger fans of Zeppelin I & II, and with “Immigrant Song” Zeppelin III starts with some of the same in your face rock n roll from the first 2 albums. Unfortunately for me the album really slows down and gets mellow. Which is not my favorite version of the band. “Gallows Pole” will get your foot stomping again. With all of that said “Tangerine” might be my most favorite song from the band, ever.

I know its not classed as the masterpiece that 4 is, but dad had a copy of this when I was growing up and besides the Remasters - this was my introduction to Led-Zep. Gems have to be Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You and Tangerine for me.

It's not Led Zeppelin IV is it. Still hard to argue with an album with Immigrant Song, Out on the Tiles, Gallows Pole, and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp on it.

yet another opening track i recognise from the first notes (but not the title) Tangerine>>>> Bron-Y-Aur Stomp is also great really enjoyed listening to this actually! some nice blues-y rock, and the bits that didn’t stand out per se were still great bg listening

Another really solid album from them. Immigrant Song in particular is one of my favorites. Lots of just straight rock bangers.

A good album. And this was 1970! Only mixing complaint I have is that vocals are back and not very intelligible. What is that last song? Album definitely has some hits, and it's a pleasant listen except for that. 4.

If I purchased a record in 1970 as a child that opened with Immigrant Song I think I’d shit my pants immediately. Wild how much depth and variety they bring to this album. The cover is a perfect representation of what you’re about to experience. I prefer the rock-heavier Zeppelin sound but it’s still a great album that I listened through three times. Unfortunately, due to the final track, my left ear gives this album a 5, yet the right a 3.

Refreshingly original and inimitable, this deserves a 5 (until that last song, what were they thinking? save that for a b side)

Except for a few tracks, this album is a more mellow Led Zeppelin, which according to the internet was by design. Other than Immigrant Song, I don’t recall hearing the other songs before. Somewhat blues-y and better than expected.

I wasn't fully sold, but could see how its influenced later artists & interested enough to come back & listen more in the future

First half was brilliant, dropped off a bit in the second half

sounds mysterious

First album in the list I actually enjoyed. Not my favorite Zeppelin album, though.

No need for a re-listen. 4.

First impression pre listen: Led Zeppelin huh? Suprised I've not gotten them sooner to be honest. This isn't the album from them I'm most familar with, but their music is usually pretty approachable so I'll at least have a decent listening experience, even if there might be some "borrowed" songs on here. Got pretty high expectations going into this. Individual track notes: Immigrant Song Starting off with an absolute classic. An iconic piece of rock music that's still relevant to this day. Probably in the top 10 for most recognizable intros. That riff is lightning in a bottle. Captures the viking imagery so well. Fantastic. 5/5 Friends I really like how heavy and impactful the acoustic guitar sounds. Great strings. Feels almost mystical and fairytale-like. Sweet lyrics. Has a bit of a pyschedelic edge to it, feels really large and hypnotic. Great. 4.5/5 Celebration Day Great transition. Magnificent bass. Decent solo. Smokey and raw atmosphere. Ends on a great groove. Great. 4.5/5 Since I've Been Loving You Very bluesy and slow. Builds up very well. The keys is a magnetic driving force which keeps the song sounding large and dynamic. Solid guitar solo, if not a bit too long. The final few minutes are really cinematic and impactful. Fantastic. 5/5 Out on the Tiles Has a weak start. The riff is a bit of a miss for me. Really don't like the general sound of the guitar. Unremarkable chorus. Kinda middle of the road throughout. The drumming saves it from being totally average. Fine. 3/5 Gallows Pole Thematically a bit basic for a rock song of this era. Has good energy. I like the banjo picking in the background and the fun drum tempo. Has some stellar bass playing as well. Ends on a really satisfying climax. Good. 4/5 Tangerine Really pleasant. Great guitar solo. Lovely bassline. Just an allround solid tune. Good. 4/5 That's the Way The steel guitar in the background is really distinct. Psychedlic atmosphere with the repetitive acoustic guitars and the dulcimer. Interesting arrangement. Great. 4.5/5 Bron-Y-Aur Stomp Really folky. I like the traditional dancy drum beat. The guitar is great. The song doesn't completely capture me, but it's still a good time. Decent. 3.5/5 Hats off To (Roy) Harper Strange effects. Not exactly pleasant to listen to. Just really weird to be honest, especially through a headset. The experiment is at least thoroughly executed. Fine. 3/5 Final review: While the quality of the album came as no suprise, what didn't meet my expectations was the overall sound of the album. It's folky and a bit maximalist at the same time. It's loud, it's impactful and it can completely rock your socks off. At the same time it's weird, psychedelic and even cinematic. The drums are heavy, the guitars blazing and the bass eclectic. Also love how atmospheric the keys get at times. This adds up to a dense wave of instrumentation which intensly roars ahead. Add some true rock star vocals to that and you'll have yourself an exhausting, but satisfying time. I really enjoy this direction for their sound. There are times where it even sounds traditional. Maybe not their most iconic album, but still a solid additon to their discography. 4/5

i mean it's led zeppelin 🙂‍↕️ they manage to blend in many different elements seamlessly, a greaatt album overall but not my favourite from them, that's why it gets a 4 from me. (in other senses it's a 5 tho 🌚)

It rips, it feels, it smacks. Honestly just a classic, not perfect, but a pleasure to listen to.

Led Zeppelin can be a touch overwrought for me but they’re still great.

Pretty good overall. Some songs might take a few more listens to get used to. 4/5

Need a bigger spread of stars for rating... Shaded by LZ2 but still gets 4 stars

Better than 2 worse than 4.

Oh wow, I can rock out AND bliss out to this one - varied, passionate, my fave LZ so far. "Tangerine" gives me goosebumps.

Classic rock is great

Docked a star for all the left

I feel like Led Zeppelin is always a good time, this one is no exception. Some really heavy hitters on this one too. Something about That's the Way just got to me.

Four stars just for Immigrant Song.

Excellence. What more is there to say

It's a classic

An album I've listened to multiple times already. I would have given it 5 stars a decade ago, but now I'm more aware of the cultural theft that's worth a star of acknowledgement.

massively talented (you need to like his voice though)

Ayah-ah, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Ayah-ah, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! All downhill from there of course, but that's a minimum 4 stars for the opening 18 seconds of the album

Great rigs

Classic!

Can't NOT like a Led Zep album. This one is a little more folksy, but still enjoyable

Very good but overall weaker than II and IIII

It's Led Zep, what's not to like?

It's not my favorite Zep album, but it ain't something I ever put down. The best tracks are legendary Jimmy Page or JPJ songwriting.

Their third album. Rock / Blues / Folk. Immigrant Song - Track one, Boom !Vocals, rock guitar and bass licks, great drums. Great song. Celebration Day is another good track. Out On The Tiles - A very cool sound. Again John Bonham's drums are great. A solid album but this band are so good they have better.

SCHOOL OF ROCK BABYYYYYY! I’m having a hoot. You can really hear how influential this was. The cover is great. Trying not to dance while I’m cleaning toilets. Found myself wanting more when it ended, which hasn’t happened often. I’m going to listen again to see how I feel.

Inmigrant song sets the bar high, but the rest does not keep up. Good album anyways

Led Zeppelin is already an iconic, canonized band. Listening to this album is not any different. Some bands there is little to say about. They set the stage, we mere mortals just watch the spectacle. I would say the only way to really rate a band like this is to pit them against themselves. I would not say this is their best album, but it is still laughably good. And that is the thing about great legendary bands: If someone hears this one first and thinks "this is NOT their best album? What the heck IS then?!" And so it goes with Led Zeppelin: legend for a reason.

Throughout high school, Zeppelin was constantly on. Non-stop, and not played by me--in cars, on radio, everywhere. So it is hard to hear these songs anew, but I tried. I think III is my favourite Zeppelin album, but I will say, what I used to think was trippy acoustic art, now I think the last two songs are meh. But some killers on here.

Spun vinyl for this one. A well worn record that is very good!

I was always reluctant with Led Zeppelin. I was wrong

Immigrant song almost made me give a 5

Powerful and fun - lighter than Led Zeppelin 1, but still a lot of the soul, energy, and beauty of it.

Yeh it's alright

Classic album

4 out of 5 only because overall it's not as good as Zeppelin II or IV

Nice to get the Led out from time to time.

Really like the rock elements and surprisingly I don't mind the folk songs. Favourite song is definitely since I've been loving you. Album falls off on the last two tracks tho. I've got no idea about what happened with that last track. Overall a good 7.5/10.

Some faves, some skips, but overall pretty fantastic.

Such an underrated Led Zeppelin album. The folk guitar here is much stronger than most of Jimmy Page's other stuff, Since I've Been Loving you basically sounds like a blues standard and it's just generally very musically interesting and beautiful

Awesome! Not my favorite songs of theirs but hard t find a flaw.

so cool

Jack Whites father

While I've heard a lot of their hits, this is the first Led Zeppelin album I've ever listened to in its entirety. I enjoyed it for the most part. Jimmy Page shows of both his acoustic and electric guitar talents here. Favorite tracks: Immigrant Song, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

Favorite Songs: Immigrant Song / Tangerine

Not sure I’ve ever listened to a LZ album through but really enjoyable. Started hot and tailed off a bit

Very, very bluesy! Did not expect this to be so heavily influenced by Robert Johnson and the other 1930s blues legends. Immediately I now want to listen to “King of the Delta Blues”. There were some slightly weaker moments, especially the slightly cringy “Tangerine”, but I really liked the vast majority of this record. The closer goes full on with the wavy blues guitaring, and Immigration Song, Friends, Celebration Day, and Since I’ve Been Loving You open this record on such a high.

Álbum clássico de rock. muito bom. QoA Adonis New.

Un grand album, dommage qu'ils aient enregistré Robert Plant dans sa salle de bain sur la moitié du disque.

I can see why this is a classic, great instrumentals, vocals are unique and enjoyable. 3.7

Don’t want name recognition to cloud bias but this was a solid album.

As someone who only knows the top hits from zeppelin, I really enjoyed the other songs I didn’t know because of how almost experimental they sounded. Killer album.

School of rock!

Great start to the album with Immigrant Song. Rest of album in very good, and shows their versatility.

Another wonderful listening experience. Can’t give it a 5 because it’s not quite on the level of IV but it’s damn close

Since I've been loving you is fantastic.

Very nice!

23/05/2025 Twas good that.

Tangerine is one of my top favorite songs of all time. 4

In some ways this is the most accessible Zeppelin album. Less blues/rock and more acoustic/folk sounds but that doesn’t diminish the sound in any way. Not my favorite by them but a very solid offering nonetheless.

There's a reason these guys have a lasting foothold in the music industry and culture as a whole. I'd never heard this all the way through, but wow it was great. I really enjoyed this.

Enjoyed this

Its a 4 from me, very listenable

Need to listen to more of them

Not my favourite Led Zep, but its still pretty solid. I reckon you can cut this one from the 1001, despite how good Immigrant Song is - that's definitely a 1001 songs you have to hear song. Fave Tracks: Immigrant Song, Tangerine 3.6/5

Since I’ve Been Loving You is one of the all-time (we should) break up songs, with Let Her Cry and Can’t You See. Loved the folk bent in the second half of the album, too.

Zero preamble into The Immigrant Song is so mesmerizing as an intro. Got me pumped.

Definitely in the running for best opening track of all time.

I mean, it's zeppelin. I'd give it 4 stars if it was just Bonham's drum stems. Maybe 5 stars in that case.

Not a bad album! I liked mix of Blues, English Folk, and Hard Rock. Plant, Jones, and Bonham really nicely together. It just some of the slow songs dragged a bit.

Took me by surprise. Tangerine is a tune

Many bangers

So epic.

The sheer size, legend and faux mysticism of Led Zeppelin's sound can make it easy to overlook just how amazingly ludicrous so much of their stuff really is. Who could fail to love the storming 'Immigrant Song', a song that is the result of when this bunch of (very) English plebs decided to pretend to be Vikings for the day. "Valhalla, I am coming" indeed.

Second of what I'm guessing is quite a few Zep albums on this list. Of course it's part of the classic first 4 releases, and might be my second favorite next to IV. The band seems like they're really starting to branch out from the early heavy blues sound to try out some new textures. A Megadeth cover of "Out on the Tiles" years back tuned me into how great of a song that one was, it had kind of hidden itself from me compared to tracks like "Immigrant Song", "Celebration Day", "Tangerine", etc. Definitely loses a bit of steam on the second half, but overall a really solid album from their classic early era with teases of some more variety to come in future albums.

Sounds great but when paying attention I thought there was not so much substance

i loved this album! there are so many fantastic songs on it, but my absolute favorite is "tangerine". this song is BEAUTIFUL! i also love the duality of the album, with some intense heavy rock songs like "immigrant song" but then zeppelin has the ability to create beautiful ballads like "tangerine". i was going to say that this could be the best zeppelin album, but i had forgotten about their album that they released one year after this (led zeppelin IV) which is definitely my favorite.

Not my cuppa

Side A is great. Side B sadly doesn't live up. It's still good, I guess. It's just a little uninteresting. 'Immigrant Song' might be the coolest song on the face of the planet, though.

Really great album. Loved it

A very enjoyable listen. Not quite what I was expecting with it being much more toned down than I was anticipating. But no less of an album for that with some very good songs.

I love the immigrant song and whilst the rest of the album doesn’t live up to that, it is still a great listen with a great mix of styles. Look forward to hearing more from them.

Spectacular as always when it comes to Led Zeppelin. That bluesy hard rock feel they got is just immaculate. For me I wouldn't say that this record is perfect but their discography is extensive with so many bangers it's hard to find fault in many of the songs on here (besides their closer). Great record and a great listen. Top 5: Since I've Been Loving You(Best), Out of The Tiles (The drums on this are so fucking fire), Immigrant Song(close second), Gallows Pole, and Tangerine No bad songs (there's an argument to be made for Hats off To (Roy) Harper but it isn't bad however it 100% felt like filler) 4.25-4.50/5

Not my favorite Led Zeppelin album, but very good nonetheless. 4/5 Album 48/1001

Growing up I always preferred I and IV, and I think I stand by that opinion. But this is a great album, despite how weird Hats Off to (Roy) Harper is. I'm tempted to give this 5*, but I think I'm going to leave it at a high 4*.

I think people sleep on this record. Out on the tiles, celebration day and tangerine are some of my favorites. Can’t wait to listen to this again - I already know it’s a 4. Let’s give John Paul Jones his due - feels like he is the forgotten member of led zep but what a talent he is.

This was a new one! I know Led Zeppelin II and Led Zeppelin IV like the back of my hand, but never really listened to III. Although I know a few of the songs on here it was a great find :) Tangerine is awesome!!

I didn't want to like this one as much as I did. I've always been a Led Zeppelin fan, but for various reasons I've never really *liked* being a Led Zeppelin fan. Either way, listening to one of their albums again reminds me that even though there's a lot of reasons the band kinda sucks, they're still pretty damn good.

Good jams on a classic album.

4 only thanks to Hallowed

4 stars

In between listens I always remember liking this album more than I actually do. It's got some really good stuff but the misses are big, and Immigrant Song is quite possibly the worst thing they ever did, although I imagine The Crunge would maybe like a word about that. It's a strong enough album but when you're Led Zeppelin, that's just not good enough.

Ein paar echte klassiker, aber auch ein paar low points

Definitely a classic with the unique Led Zep sound. Many outstanding songs and but also a few mediocre ones as well. Fav Track: Since I've Been Loving You.

Full of big rock songs

great summer Roadtrip Album

Este es el álbum que toda persona que creía que un disco de Led Zeppelin eran sólo solos de guitarra interminables con una voz que casi no se escucha. O tal vez solo era yo. Como sea 8/10 damn

Zeppelin absolutely rules. But I think this one rules just a bit less than IV. A couple of songs here just don't do it for me, even if the ones that work are incredible.

Don’t think I’ve intentionally listened to Led Zeppelin before, certainly not a whole album at once. I truly enjoyed this and was surprised by the versatility, the range of instrumentals, and how, well, interesting it was the whole way through. Absolutely loved Since I’ve Been Loving You. Other standouts were Immigrant Song, Gallows Pole, and That’s the Way. Could have done without Hats Off to (Roy) Harper. Otherwise a really solid record I’ll probably come back to.

It’s blues! It’s just the blues! Led Zeppelin is a blues band! Just really loud blues! I feel like I’m going crazy!

9.6/10 ★★★★½

I don't like the way the electric and acoustic tracks are divided on the two different sides of the album, but although I am not a big fan of Plant's vocals, this is better than most Zeppelin I have heard. 4 stars

Not my favourite Led Zep album, but an influential bridge between the early albums and what was to come. A4 for the Immigrant Song alone.

Way more eclectic than I was expecting! I have never been interested in Led Zeppelin so I now know this was a somewhat divisive disappointment for fans. It will be interesting to see if I like their earlier albums!

Such a good album. I don’t even love this music, but still think it’s a great album.

immigrant song is pretty classic worldwide, i think this is the most interesting album yet. the transition from friends to celebration day is amazing. the acoustic switchup is pretty noticable and I think that they pull it off well.

Interesting

A classic. Much jazzier than I expected

Starts strong with Immigrant Song. Feels ahead of its time. Very cool, creative rock.

Very homosexual music, also the early stereo songs with instruments in one ear and vocals in the other are really annoying, this was quite good though.

felt good. fits summer well

Led Zeppelin is kind of ambient. It's just sort of always there. I like it. But it was always hard for me to be really intentional about liking it since it was just sort of always there playing on classic rock radio or at my uncle's house or something like that. I know there are people who are big fans. I had to listen to this album a couple of times because it was really hard for me to pay attention to it. That's not anything against the album. It's just how I show up to Led Zeppelin. On one of the listens the song Tangerine finally broke through. Sweet little song rhymes dream with tangerine and then… is that a steel guitar? I love the country sound that sneaks in. I don't know that I've ever heard that song before but I'm going to listen to it again! Immigrant song obviously great and I’ve always loved that’s the way. Love me some forlorn Led Zeppelin songs. One of the things I appreciate about this project is forcing an active listen of an album like this. Ok so how to rate it. I have no idea how this stacks up against other Zeppelin albums. Is this their best one? Are we going to listen to II 500 albums later? Feel like I’ve got to reserve my 5s since I don’t know what else is out there so strong 4

Cam and I spoke about how fun it is to have a dedicated Led Zeppeling listen. Their music is so omnipresent, it's easy for it to settle into the background. It melts into the space its playing it. CELEBRATION DAY riff is dirty album cover has middle school binder lisa frank nrg No matter what I do I have trouble giving this record undivided attention. I can't explain it. It's great, but it doesn't grab a hold of me. solid 4.

Starts with the hard hitting "Immigrant Song" and doesn't really rise back to that level, "Since You've Been Gone" and "Gallows Pole" are signs of life on an otherwise off album for this band.

Immigrant Song is good for a star, innit?

The one where it was clear that there was going to be way more than blues rock. It's a largely acoustic affair with the mandolin alongside guitars, and with short, snappy songs and a traditional folk tune in Gallows Pole. Best known track Since I've Been Loving You sounds a bit of a throwback to the first two albums. Though a transitional album, as they'd bring all their influences and musical ideas together in one album next time out. But still a great listen.

The weird cousin in the Zeppelin family, a few familiar family traits and a pile of weird new ones. A very cool album with lots of new ideas and fun deviations from the blues rock style that helped them become household names. The brilliance of John Paul Jones really pulls the whole album together.

A lot of folk and blues on this one with the exception of Immigrant Song and Since Ive Been loving you. Interesting that this was seen as a disappointment at the time. It's no IV but it's still great

7. Great album, immigrant song is such a banger. Led Zeppelin has always been a great band. Honestly I like how Led Zeppelin has a weirder kind of sound, I don't know how to describe but their sound is just weird and I like it. The songs overall are very nice, I don't listen to this album much but when I do, it seems to bring new sound to my ears every time. Favorite Song: Immigrant Song Least Favorite Song: Friends Overall Score: 8/10

I like this album and own it on vinyl, but don’t love it. For me the highlights are Immigrant Song, Tangerine, That’s the Way, and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. The flip side to the 45 single Immigrant Song was Hey, Hey, What Can I Do…which is one of my favorites. I wonder why it wasn’t on this album? Anyway this one is about a 3.5 for me, so I will call it a 4.0.

class simple as that

"Immigrant song", and you can see a possessed Jack Black at the wheel of his van...preaching rock to kids ! Hilarious ! Usually my go to Led Zeppelin album is the II. The III is less straightforward and goes into blues and folk: it's great, songs like "friends" or "Since I've been loving you" are gems. A bunch of the songs made the bulk of the mid-90's Page and Plant come back album "No quarter" which is a great listen too !

I just can't be objective as far as Led Zep is concerned. Yet I only give a 4 on this one because of the 3 or even 4 other albums that deserve a 5. The direction here is more folk. Yet I still regard "Since I been loving" you a masterpiece solo (slow) blues, and oh just to follow "Out on the tiles"! Well it' still a great album with these 4 guys always contributing equally a great deal.

When Led Zep tones down the epic stuff just a little, it’s still nothing short of phenomenal. Some songs here perfectly embodies their roots and the direction taken : a direct link in between blues and hard rock. A blues which stays heavy thanks to John Bonham - you don’t just hold back the man, you can bring out all your acoustic side, he’ll still lay down rock-solid grooves on top of it. Just 4 stars only because Led Zeppelin managed to top this on a handful of other albums.

Immigrant song is a banger. The album as a whole felt somewhat incoherent.

The generator has been cooking recently Despite previously having a bit of a go at folk, I like some of the folkier influences that Led Zeppelin played with here that are found on tracks like Friends, Tangerine and That's The Way. They utilise it well and it gives this album character and it stands out in their discography because of that There are also other styles that give the album variety. Celebration Day has a pretty wacky riff that is very memorable, sounds like something Primus might even have come up with. The guitar playing on the bluesy Since I've Been Loving You is very David Gilmour-esque, and the organs are reminiscent of Deep Purple. Immigrant Song is a bit overplayed but I still like it too Bron-Y-Aur Stomp unfortunately reminds me of that tragic stomp clap trend from 10 or so years ago. Not their fault but I can't help but hear it and that spoils the song for me. I don't think I can give this a 5 because of that Highlights: Celebration Day, Since I've Been Loving You, Friends, Out on the Tiles

Very unique album by a very popular and successful band. Lots of classics on this one. Any rating less than 4/5 is a sin

This was an easy listen. Faves were Immigrant Song and Tangerine. Think maybe I’ve heard this album before but not sure.

Immigrant Song alone would net this album 4 stars, it helps the rest of the album also rocks.

I never really went through a Led Zeppelin phase like a lot of my friends did in Junior High and High School, but there is still enough connective tissue between them and a lot of grunge that I get their appeal and genuinely like quite a few of their songs.

After the shrieking of two AC/DC albums last week, I was dreading this one - but (words my stepdad would be shocked to hear) Led Zeppelin is easily a much better band. We've only had 1 other album by these guys, and while this is apparently the acoustic, chill version of the band, it still feels like 1) there's some relentless, amazing rock music (Immigrant Song, Out on the Tiles), and 2) bluesy, wailing-on-the-floor songs that aren't really my thing but are still pretty compelling (Since I've been Loving You). Yes, there were some quieter songs (I only really liked 'Tangerine') but this still felt very much like a Led Zeppelin album (distinctive vocals, relentless, compelling guitars, catchy songs.) Like Van Halen and Guns'n'Roses, I might not really come back to this in the future but I get why they and their music have the reputation they have.

Fine stuff from the rockers

A lot less silly than some of their other albums. And Immigrant Song is a top 10 rock and roll song. Hard not to like. Even though it is essentially more music to play Dungeons and Dragons to.

Classic

Excellent overall

Great album, shows the evolution of the band.

loved this. fun folksy tunes abound

- Once again, I find myself not being totally onboard with Zeppelin, but just as much realizing that I have to respect their sound. I find their whole vibe somewhat dire (in a good, pulse-pounding way), which is interesting given how bright some of these lyrics are. It ended up giving a lot of the album an underlying irony in my mind. - Plant's vocals are so well-suited to rock. I do not think they jive as well with the softer second half of this album, but the first half is very solid. - Thought about giving this only 3 stars, but "Immigrant Song" may be the best rock song ever written? So that alone bumps it up.

I wasn't familiar with any song on this album outside of Immigrant Song. I really enjoyed this record. The production was great and I loved the fusion of genres with the hints of like country/folk and acoustic stuff. I loved the variety.

This is a great record! I’ve honestly never really listened to this. It’s a really solid blues album. Maybe not my favorite Zeppelin album, but the bangers are bangers. I had never heard Gallows and it kind of blew my mind.

Three standout songs, Immigrant Sont, Since I've Been Loving You, and Tangerine, with not so great songs between. 3.5/5

A real classic. Love the folk influences

some great songs, some not-as-great, but all packaged in a tight 43 minute experience. Its cool to sit with these classic rock albums and listen to them front to back instead of picking out singles like I used to, anytime I hear music from this era it always transports me to my dads vinyl collection, hearing him blast songs on his old stereo system. Immigrant Song is so good, but it sets a high bar. while the rest of the album doesnt quite reach it, its pretty consistently good! Still a fantastic entry by Led Zeppelin.

Some dizzying highs (Immigrant Song, Out on the Tiles, Gallows Pole, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp) and some pretty mediocre middles (Hats off to Roy Harper, Since I’ve Been Loving You, Friends) make this album pretty split up the middle. But the good stuff bumps it up from a 3 star to a 4. Not their best album, that’ll be LZ4 but certainly not their worst!

Solid. But not their greatest!

What am I gonna say? That I don’t like Led Zeppelin III? Like an insane person? This album has more of a bluesy/bluegrass feel to it than maybe their other stuff. Lots of great guitar stuff going on. And Robert Plant is Robert Plant. New finds/Standouts: Since I’ve Been Loving You Celebration Day Tangerine (duh) I’m glad this was the first one because I really do love Zep and I’ve been meaning to listen through their full discography.

really enjoyed listening to this one

amazing 9 out of 10

As a fan, it’s nice to be reminded of how far they came with each new album. That being said, not my fave. Immigrant is fantastic then the rest is kind of a letdown. Since I know what came next, it’s not as disappointing. 🙂

Favorit: Tangerine.

Not the best Zep, but still solid. I would put this as maybe my 4th or 5th favorite album, but certainly better than II. 4/5

This might be my favourite Led Zeppelin.

I like when Zeppelin goes folksy. Ar one point in college I was chatting with someone and I asked if what he was reading at the time was any good and he shrugged and went "I mean, it's Hemingway" and honestly that's how I feel about Led Zeppelin. You know what you're getting into when you start it, there aren't really any surprises, but it's solid music and not the worst way to spend 45 minutes.

Very good, but I don't like all of it. Too much folk influence. The singing is annoying at times. The good parts are great. Favorite song: immigrant song.

Some of their best songs on here!

Songs I liked a lot: immigrant song, tangerine, that’s the way, bron-y-aur stomp. Loved the blue eyed Merle reference as a lover of Aussie shepherds

Fun album.

Immigrant Song Friends Celebration Day Since I've Been Loving You Gallows Pole Tangerine That's the Way Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

The third part of their legendary self-titled run. After nonstop touring, the band escaped to the cottage at Bron-Yr-Aur in Wales. That break changed everything. Instead of another loud, heavy blues-rock record, they turned toward something more acoustic and earthy: folk rock mixed with their usual power and blues roots. The result feels calmer on the surface, but still huge and emotional underneath. A lot of these songs were written on acoustic guitars, and that’s where the magic comes from. The record feels like retreating from the noise, thinking about yourself, nature, myths, and distance from the world. Opens with “Immigrant Song,” which is an absolute banger, one of their most iconic tracks ever. Pure energy. The highlights are ridiculous. “Since I’ve Been Loving You” might be the best blues-rock song ever recorded. the slow build, the emotion, the guitar work… it’s a 7-minute monster. “Friends” brings this strange, tense atmosphere that sticks with you. “Tangerine” is beautiful, nostalgic, and quietly heartbreaking. People sometimes call this album underrated, and I kind of get it. It may not always show up in the Top 5 Zeppelin albums lists, but that’s only because their catalog is insanely strong. For me, this one is special, unique in their discography, personal, and full of character. My only real complaint is the ending. The closing part doesn’t hit as hard as the rest, it could’ve been stronger. But still for most bands, something this good would be their best record ever.

Immigrant Song is amazing. Tangerine is great. The rest...pretty good. It even got a bit bluegrassy at one point. Zepplin kicks ass.

"Don't tell me you never got the Led out!" Zeppelin have so much talent. Immigrant song is a classic. There's a lot to love in this album, although it's not quite at their top level all the way through.

A Mount Rushmore of rock bands? Maybe

Better than I expected.

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III While not as impactful as Physical Graffiti or the other 3 self-titled albums, this still has more substance and value than what you would think. This still has it's own highs, while unfortunately in the end it does have some of the lowest low's I've heard from the band. Even with that being said, overall, this is pretty good! 1.- Immigrant Song = 10/10 2.- Friends = 10/10 3.- Celebration Day = 8/10 4.- Since I've Been Loving You = 10/10 5.- Out on the Tiles = 8/10 6.- Gallows Pole = 8/10 7.- Tangerine = 9/10 8.- That's the Way = 9/10 9.- Bron-Y-Aur Stomp = 6/10 10.- Hats off To (Roy) Harper = 5/10 FINAL SCORE: 8.3/10

3.5 stars.

Yet another album I have never heard in its entirety but am glad to have had the chance. What an opening with "Immigrant Song"! Rating a four just for that!

4 because Zep 1 deserves 5

Das letzte Lied hat fünf Sterne ruiniert :(

First of all, listening to Immigrant Song alone in my car instead of with a bunch of middle aged white men yelling along was a weird experience. It was overall more enjoyable than I expected. Lots and lots of drawn out, somewhat uninteresting, drum and guitar instrumentals in the first half of the album but what’s to be expected from classic hard rock. But then Tangerine hit and I forgot I was listening to the same album. From there the rest of the album was great in my opinion and I still liked somethings from the first part of the album but I wouldn’t go back to it because it wasn’t really interesting to me.

My golly did this album have some bangers. Also was not expecting the album to turn folk all of the sudden there?? But I lowkey loved it. Score could def become a five with more listens, I liked this way more than I was expecting

1. Immigration song 2. Since i've been loving you 3. Tangerine One of the best opening tracks of any album. Aaaaaaaa aaaa!

What a sick fucking album, can you imagine hearing this for the first time in 1970? "In the ghetto" by Elvis is a top 20 hit (admittedly there are some great rock bands on that list but nothing as heavy as LZ), and all of the sudden you hear Immigrant Song for the first time?! It must have been a complete mind fuck. Even now, 55 years later, this album made me feel like the coolest and strongest guy at the gym. It just gets you pumped the fuck up. Out on the Tiles is my favorite from this album.

I'm pretty burned out on most "classic rock" bands due to oversaturation, and Led Zeppelin is no exception. However... Immigration Song, Celebration Song, Since I've Been Living You and Out on the Tiles.. are just incredible rock and roll songs. Tangerine and That's the Way are beautiful, especially back to back. And then the album ends with two acoustic blues songs that are also really good, if not out of left field. The only skip for me is Friends, which isn't a bad song either It's hard to argue against Jimmy Page's talent. And Robert Plant's voice is about as recognizable as Brian Johnson's. There are many imitators. But only one RP (unless you count his female counterpart Janis Joplin). I honestly didn't expect to like this album as much as I do. The sequencing is a little weird, but that's a pretty small complaint.

Zep were untouchable from 69-73. This album is the black sheep/dark horse of the group but i rank it pretty high in my LZ stable. As much as i love hearing these guys rock their balls off (“Immigrant Song”, the incredible singing in “Since I’ve Been Loving You”, the funky-ass drumming Bonham has going on in “Out On the Tiles”), I like how the second side simmers down into acoustic beauties. The only real notes quibble I have here is they should have thrown “Hats Off to Harper” into the nearest dumpster and replaced it with “Hey Hey What Can I Do”, a song that was cut from this album that is better than a good half of it. And I won’t pretend “Celebration Day” and “Out On the Tiles” are up to the standards of their best work. Oh well, they still appropriately ROCK

I’ve actually only ever heard Immigrant Song off this album, pretty sure. I’ve listened to other Zepp albums but not this one. Not as many bangers as Zeppelin II but lots of great stuff on here.

I really liked Tangerina and Friends, incredible album

out of all of the albums ive listened to so far, this is a bit more my usual style (for the most part). overall i enjoyed this quite a bit

It’s Led Zeppelin, you know what you’re going to get. 55 year old album but doesn’t feel dated. Since I’ve been loving you is a great example of the masterful guitar work of this band. 8/10

These guys sound like Greta Van Fleet

favorite - since i've been loving you. one of led zeppelin's most compelling pieces of work 4/5 almost perfect for me

Immigrant song is forever tainted for me because of that one guy who would get up, sing & dance along to it whenever it played during a screening of Thor Ragnarok I was at in the dominion. 4 songs added to my playlist, 6 added to the 1001 playlist.

Pre: 2007, Christmas time, my brother got Mothership by Led Zepplin for CD and I remember him almost discarding it aside (this was peak kerrang and emo at this time), but it led to me absorbing everything there. I fully believe the opening to Good Times Bad Times (the album opener too) led to me drumming a few years later. It's still hard to think of drummers competing for best drummer with Bonzo. It was really my gateway into Rock I think, or at least Classic Rock. A couple Black Sabbath CDs, some Blue Oyster Cult and Machine Head by Deep Purple and pre-teenage me was locked into 70s rocks for years to come. 2007 also had Guitar Hero 3 and I don't think any year before or since has affected me as much as that Christmas. Anyway some years down the line Spotify happened, and whether that helped or hindered musicians as a whole aside, I got to go back and revisit all the artists I learned from Games, films and Best-Of albums I knew front to back. Annoyingly this is my least favourite of the numbered Led Zepplins but still I haven't dug into it as much as the others so I'm excited nonetheless. There's a few songs here that I've listened to so much that they've detached from the Album completely so it'll be good to see them more in context, not that Zep albums have every really prioritised cohesion of songs. Post: John Paul Jones man. I think I overlistened to Immigrant Song for too long that I started skipping it. I can't believe I missed the bass on that. It's interesting how orchestral Friends is, it really feels like the precursor to the later highs of Kashmir and No Quarter. Bonham on Since I've Been Loving You feels held back in a way that really helps propel that song. His drumming feels so much more deliberate and it really helps being a good sense of unity from the group as it builds and builds. Out of the Tiles is not a held back Bonham and it too is glorious. Yet another album that trends from one genre to another so I guess I was wrong about Zep albums then! The latter half really goes more blues until it's the only thing left. Hard not to think about the creditation of the songs at this point but that's a whole other matter! On the whole though I liked this better on this listen than past times. It's not Zep IV or II but I'll come back to this more than I used to. Highlight: Since I've Been Loving You

Weaker than I, II and IV. A low 4/5

Good rocking. No further notes needed.

Zeppelin is one of my favorite classic rock bands of all time, so it's pretty hard not to give this 5 stars. However, I feel like this one doesn't have hit after hit like some other Zeppelin albums have. All my favorites - like Immigrant Song (straight jam), Since I've Been Loving You, and Tangerine - are kind of spaced out. The other songs in between are deeper cuts that I'm not as familiar with. I agree with everyone that I'd put this one on the 2nd tier of Zeppelin albums. Strong 4.

I love Led Zeppelin and I don't care who knows it. I think this is my 2nd or 3rd favorite of theirs, but an awesome and fun listen Best Song: Maps Rating: 7.5/10 4 Stars

Bright & Well-textured. Great guitar solos and Robert Plant vocals, as always. Standout tracks are “Since I’ve Been Loving You and “Hats off To (Roy) Harper”

Really enjoyable and enjoyed the acoustic guitar on some of the songs. However I think this is probably ranks 4th album in their catalog.

Nice one.

Thor and Bob Dylan

1st Side - Fantastic 2nd Side - "Hey guys, check out these cool open tunings"

As with a lot of Zeppelin albums, this is a mix of some of the greatest, most totemic songs in all of the rock canon, mixed in with songs so forgettable that they always seem new to me.

Classic mix of electric and acoustic songs. Almost perfect

This is definitely a classic album. I grew up listening to this album. Immigrant song has so much amazing energy behind, but on the flip side it’s a little misleading because no other song on the album really matched that level of energy. Either way, these guys were amazing musicians.

Huh, two Led Zep in a week, that’s interesting. Anyway, this is a better album than IV. It has more variations in texture and mood, and it has some gentility and mysticism that is very appealing. Every song is interesting in some way. Must-listen #62

High 3 or low 4. I've gone generous because I will be back despite not being a fan of Since I've Been Loving You. This is clearly the track the album is built around and "real music" fans seem to love it. I'm a plastic princess and I got bored. It might be a song that requires talent but so is juggling and that's shite as well. Rest of the album is grand

Some classic Zep. Solid through and through, but not my favorite entry in their catalog. Solid 4 / 5 territory. Immigrant Song is such a great album opener. Love that they left the subtle count-in on the recording. I've talked about songs evoking motion before, but this is among the best in that category. Propulsive and infectious. Since I've Been Loving You is among my favorite Zeppelin songs. Love the slow bluesy nature of it and how much emotion they pour into it. Out on the Tiles is a solid follow-on with a deeply sunken bass-riff and some fantastic grooves/fills from Bonham. Have to say, I really love Bonham's style and how they mic'd his kit in recordings -- not always flashy, but so satisfying. Love the build-up on Gallows Pole. Just a solidly written song... Tangerine is a plodding / thick sounding song with some country twang to the guitar -- once again, a solid song. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp > Hats off are both eclectic songs to end the record. The former has more classic appeal, while the latter is ghostly with the use of vibrato.

Probably my least favorite Led Zeppelin so far on this list, but it was still awesome. Guitars shred.

This one from Led Zeppelin seems like their most stripped down and raw album of the 1-4 but in a great way. Just seems like these were songs written and recorded so quickly but it works so well. Something I really like about this album is that you can hear a lot of the live recordings in the background at the beginning and ends of songs. Makes it sound like it was all done in 1 take from front to back. In my second tier of Zepellin albums, but still a great one to throw on every so often

Honestly so easy to give every Zeppelin release a 5. All chock full of mf'in jams. This one has one of my favorite Zeppelin tunes of all time in Since I've Been Loving You. Pretty much every song on here is at least above average too. Some good ol gettin the Led out. High 4.

Immigrant Song!

I know this album well so I didn't have to listen to it this morning, but did so anyway. :) It's not my favorite Zeppelin work though it contains one of my favorite blues songs, "Since I've Been Loving You". I understand that Page got so mad when it was criticized that he withdrew and wouldn't speak to the press for over a year. Thankfully the next album made up for it. :)

Starts out with a bang on Immigrant Song, but the rest of the album is not up to the standards of LZ's other albums. That's probably an unfair benchmark, but it's hard not to judge this one on the basis of those. Still, a solid album regardless.

Perhaps not their most inspired work, but still good - they wanted to explore a creative direction but found a bit of a dead end. Kudos for trying tho

Listen-worthy for Since I've Been Loving You alone. Led Zeppelin is heavily prominent on this list because they've changed so much from album to album. They cram a lot of styles into this album that showcases the variety, skill and talent from this ragamuffin collection of studio musicians. 4/5

As they're not all classic rock radio staples, I don't really know many of these. Still an entertaining listen. I like the folkiness in some/mos(?) of the songs, specifically "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp." "Since I've Been Loving You" is probably the top track....it's gonna be hard for me to rate any Led Zep less than four.

Gear: Meze 109 PRO Artwork: 🎨✈️💥 Production (Remaster): 😐🙂👌 Music: 🎸🏔️🌲 Rating: ✈️✈️✈️(✈️)/5

Not my favourite Led Zeppelin album, especially when compared with II and IV, but does contain some standout tracks; the Blues Rock "Since I've Been Loving You" and the Folk Rock "Gallows Pole".

Love Bonham's drumming always but the production sounds crummy - as it does on all of Led Zeppelin's studio recordings. Why?

Early Led Zeppelin can simply do no wrong. On this one, they deliver all the punches from their first two albums, but now with more folk and less blues rock - a great win for me, someone who really quite likes folk and really quite dislikes blues rock.

What a voice and so many bangers!

One of my favorite albums from the 70s.

Since I've Been Loving You es un temazo y uno de mis favoritos.

I like Led Zeppelin but I must admit it is difficult to listened to Robert Plant's high-pitched scream for half an hour.

I liked it! Immigrant song is haunting. The rest of the album was upbeat and rock.

Tremendous band. Powerful stuff.

It's interesting how this is listed as a "metal" album. Page plays a lot of (brilliant) acoustic here, which is the opposite of metal. No mention of Blues? That is a truly psychedelic cover, complete with what looks like a bagel spread with cream cheese on it! There are some great riffs on III. I like this album, but it's not consistent enough for me to give it a 5. It's still pretty darn good. Liked Songs Added: Immigrant Song Since I've Been Loving You Out On The Tiles That's The Way Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

Noisier than I remember… getting old

The worst of the first four Zep albums, still slaps

Some outstanding tracks on this album. The guitar solo alone on since I’ve been loving you is probably worth 5 stars. Some of the later acoustic tracks aren’t at that level though. Probably 3.5 stars but rounded up. I think they’ll have better albums to come in this list.

Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You are two miear perfect songs. Favourite Songs: Immigrant Song, Friends, Since I've Been Loving You, Tangerine, That's the Way. Least Favourite Songs: Hats Off to (Roy) Harper.

Immigrants

Had this album on repeat along with The Doors - ST and LA Woman in my early 20s. Good times, good times. Absolute banger

powerful and furious album. love it.

Led Zeppelin are a band that I like but don't listen to very often so I've liked coming back to their (many) albums on this list. This one isn't my favourite but is still very very good. Kind of suffers by starting with Immigrant Song because nothing else on it comes close. Fav tracks: Immigrant Song, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

i always go into zeppelin albums thinking/hoping that i’m gonna LOVE it. and i just don’t really. i do like it and immigrant song is one of the best album openers maybe ever - but overall there’s just something missing for me to truly love them

Lourd, dramatique, juste assez malpropre ; innovateur sur le plan rythmique sur une base plus traditionnelle de blues et de folk

What more can you say about Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin III that hasn't already been said a million times. If you like Zep and their music you will like this one. Page's playing is pretty amazing. Another great album by an amazing band.

what a GREAT album opener

Immigrant song deffo slaps but also feels diff to the rest of the album Other songs i liked are Gallows pole, since ive been loving you and Friends

Whereas I really like Led Zeppelin despite never really listening to them…

tempting to call this the best led zep album because of since ive been loving you and friends. both are the band at their best but something like immigrant song is them at their worst - riff, screaming, section a into section b, the nerdiest lamest lyrics from guys trying to look oh so cool. an important step in their discography as they showed they weren't afraid to go acoustic/soft - imo this is where their strength really lies, on IV going to california is miles better than rock and roll.

Classic rock album. Can't go wrong with some Zep.

Very solid

Okay, I'm a Led Zep fan now, does that mean I have to get a Zoso shirt? This album is really good, not quite Physical Graffiti, but good!

An underrated Zeppelin classic which sees the band venture into more blissful, folkish sonic pastures. It doesn't have as high of peaks as Led Zeppelin I or IV, but it's a consistently beautiful record that features some of the band's most interesting and unusual songs such as Friends and Gallows Pole, some of the most beautiful in the form of Since I've Been Loving You and That's the Way, and some straight-up rockers in Immigrant Song and Out on the Tiles. Certainly the prettiest and most pleasant Led Zeppelin ever got and maybe the album that has the strongest aesthetic identity in their catalogue alongside the debut. After some time of not listening to Led Zeppelin consistently I always forget how great they are at songwriting - it's one of those classic bands that one almost starts underrating and overlooking as times goes on because of their status, yet every time I come back to their music I get pleasantly surprised without a fail. This is an album that I myself don't appreciate enough because their bigger records take the attention, but I adore the deeper cuts such as this that always remain fresh and make you look at the band with a new set of eyes every time you rediscover them. Not one of my absolute favorites but a stellar record nonetheless.

my favorite zeppelin album ^_^ i listened to this soooo much as a teenager so my fondness for it is a little clouded by nostalgia but i do think it's a great record and frankly underrated in the zeppelin canon. i just looked at the wikipedia article and i was surprised to see it described as folky but i guess that IS why it appeals to me—i like the gentler, lighter sound, the acoustic guitars and the mandolin. robert plant’s crazy ass voice contrasts well with the acoustic-ness. i think “tangerine” and “that's the way” are two of the most beautiful songs in the world… FUN FACT: “bron-y-aur stomp” is about robert plant’s dog who was named strider after aragorn in lord of the rings. fav tracks: tangerine; that's the way; gallows pole; celebration day

That was cool but I’m bummed I didn’t find any tracks on here that I love as much as Immigrant Song. I think this skewed a little too folk/blues for me and I kind of like their usual harder sound actually, but I did enjoy hearing those influences in their music because it felt like connecting the dots between blues and rock and roll in a way I don’t usually hear. Fav tracks: Immigrant Song, Tangerine

Me gusta mucho este álbum, melódico, suave, plus las vocales de Plant me encantan.

very cool guitar and drum fills and just overall great music

Listened to it before. Pretty good, not their best. 7/10

++*: Friends ++: Immigrant Song, Celebration Day, Since I've Been Loving You, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Hats Off to (Roy) Harper +: Out on the Tiles, Tangerine, That's the Way 9,1/10

Always good to hear. (And always a tiny bit disappointing on side 2)

The acoustic leanings stand out. A gentle departure from the usual chaos, but not entirely. Shades of Pentangle meet the weight of rock. There’s a playful looseness here. It’s raw but deliberate.

Immigrant Song 4.3 Friends 3.7 Celebration Day 4 Since I've Been Loving You 4.1 Out on the Tiles 4 Gallows Pole 3.8 Tangerine 3.5 That's the Way 3.2 Bron-Y-Aur Stomp 3.4 Hats Off to (Roy) Harper 3.5 Score: 3.75
