Reviews (page 4 of 14)
5. No doubt about it. From the first song's scream to the scream of the last song. Everything is perfect in this album.
The length of “Since I’ve been loving you” is the exact amount of time it takes to get from my ex gf’s house to my house, a fact I learned at 4 in the morning in high school after sneaking out
my god this is incredible
Awesome
It's crazy that a British band is able to absolutely nail so many forms of Americana. This album covers blues, rock, folk, and a little bluegrass, and it does them all flawlessly. There are so many singles on this album. But they also work together to produce a nice flow for the album that keeps you engaged the whole time.
5.0
Tangerine has always been one of my favorite songs but for some reason I’ve always neglected this album - top to bottom so so good. I wish I could go back and give their debut album a 4. Other favorites include (but not limited to) out on the tiles, gallows pole, and that’s the way
Top
Since I’ve Been Loving You leading into Out On the Tiles is one of the all time one-two punches in recorded music history.
Awesome for music yet not their best.
I love Led Zep
Classic. Duh
In the grand scheme of this list so far this deserves a 5. Compared to all of the other Zeppelin albums, this might be one of my favorites because it stylistically feels more folk and contry inspired.
I, II, & IV are my favorites of the LZ catalog. Why doesn't III resonate as much? Is it all those mandolins? It's a classic, no doubt, just a different flavor.
One of the best groups for Blues Rock. Only a few radio-play songs here, but that does not diminish its appeal. Great balance of ebb and flow energy, and what a Stomp! I’ll round up.
Great range of styles, sounds, and energy. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp is one of my favorites.
Led Zeppelin is incredible and Robert Plant's voice is one of a kind. This is an album I continue to come back to year after year.
Classic. One of my favorite Zep albums.
Classic. Perfect.
I think led zeppelin are very good I think this because I think the guitar sounded very nice I liked the songs and how it sounded
I want to put the rock and roll emoji here. That is all
Absolute legend. Incredible for 1970.
Every day is a great day to listen to Led Zeppelin. It makes my Friday just that much sweeter to know I got this album.
Fucking so good I love Led Zeppelin. Previous to this I considered IV my favorite but now it might be III.
Timeless classic!!!! Cannot even start describing how special this piece is for me
Not my favourite Zeppelin record but still a fantastic album top to bottom. Plant especially seems really dialled in here. I also feel like there is that feeling on this record that it is a stepping stone to something even greater, like gathering themselves up before taking the next big plunge....

Amazing! Love it.
My favorite Led Zeppelin album is Physical Graffiti, it wasn’t always, but it is at the moment. Really any of their first 6 albums have been a favorite at some point, they’re all just so good. They had three phases each consisting of three albums, I-III, IV-Physical Graffiti, and Presence-In Through the Out Door. I was always the middle phase fan. I was getting tired of hearing “Immigrant Song” but then the opening scene in Thor Ragnorok completely revitalized how I hear that song. It was such a perfect pairing of old and new, still gives me chills when I watch that movie. I’m sure more Zeppelin albums will be on here, I love them all and I don’t really have any cool stories about my life long enjoyment of their music but I’ll try harder when we get to the middle three.
Growing up in 80's New Jersey--around the high school kids and especially in line for rides at Great Adventure (i.e., Six Flags)--I'd see plenty of cool kids wearing band tee-shirts of groups too unsafe for my parents to allow me a listen. By the time my elementary and middle school mind finally heard The Doors, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin, I wasn't ready for it. I didn't get it; it was too far removed in sound and theme from the Sesame Street, Chipmunks, and Smurfs albums I had in my boyhood collection (and still have, and they're great, btw (well, maybe not the Smurfs)). But THAT many people couldn't be wrong, could they? Could they? Instead of doubling down on my initial opinions, I figured it was me; it was something I just didn't understand yet, a greatness that needed time before all will be revealed. Of course, I eventually favored many of these groups, but never fully got around to giving Zep a deep listen. Similarly to Bowie, I started with the wrong album (Coda, because hey, it has a drum solo (and Space Oddity, if yer curious)); similarly, I heard singles I liked but couldn't fully dig in to albums like I wanted. So this is my first complete listen to Led Zeppelin III, continuing their trend of boringly uninspired album titles that offer no hints of the inventiveness within. And kicking it all off with "Immigrant Song" is a surprising knock out blow that hits you hard just as you drop the needle. I took a trip to Iceland in 2016 and this song kept bubbling up to my subconscious, that driving bass-and-bass-drum gallop propelling me through the trip. Like many of the songs I heard in my youth, I often sang along without really considering the lyrics. I realized I was singing "We come from the land of the ice and snow," and as I kept singing "From the midnight Sun where the hot springs blow," I understood why my mind was playing this back to me. Granted I went in January (cold enough???) when there was no midnight Sun as darkness was 18 hours a day (and it seemed like I was always witnessing the sun rise and set throughout the day), but we did experience plenty of hot springs and geysers. A quick search of lyrics and sure enough I see they wrote this about Iceland. Now I could yield this personal mental theme confidently as a weapon like Thor's Hammer as I dominated and conquered this land for the remainder of the trip, looking out a window of a heated tour bus and eating my 'Cool American' Doritos. Regardless . . . what a way to open an album. Wow, I know almost all of these songs; I would imagine a Greatest Hits album would consist of some random singles and almost this entire album, much like Rumours and the greatest hits of Fleetwood Mac. "Since I've Been Loving You" is a prime example of this band's ability to not just hit the right notes, but to make them lyrical, connected, and emotive. How many times have I heard someone play the blues scale, but not PLAY the blues? Led Zeppelin makes every sound sing, cry, strut, or wail. The music breathes. The vocal and guitar performance here moves me in a way most blues does not, both paying homage to the genre and pushing it to new heights. I move and swell along with the band; they take me, and I'm not fighting it. I wouldn't think I'd give any album a 5-star review for only one song, but if ever there was a case for it, "Since I've Been Loving You" would be it. Fortunately, the rest of the album is great, so need for this distinction. If this song showcases Jimmy Page's inspired playing, "Celebration Day" puts John Paul Jones' bass playing on display, climbing all over the bass like it owes him lunch money. Let's not discount his organ and mandolin contributions as well. What an experience. We get hard rock, folk, blues and even the dreamscapes of "Tangerine" and "That's the Way" on this album. None of it sounds out of place, none of it is redundant, and no trace of Tolkien anywhere. It's a win. The only song that doesn't do much for me is "Hats Off to Harper." (Yes, I left out "(Roy)" but it rolls better that way, as I'm sure they're aware, hence the parentheses.) I never even heard Roy Harper, but he's got some kind of hold over the Brits. (Except for The Wall soundtrack) the only non-member of Pink Floyd to sing male lead vocal on a song was Roy Harper on Wish You Were Here's "Have a Cigar." Then I heard of this song title about a month later and thought, "just who all owes this guy some favors?" Anyways, this isn't a bad song, but it is standard 8 bar blues of which I'm not a fan, as it is predictably formulaic. Robert Plant sings it beautifully, though. Again like Bowie, I can finally see what all the fuss is about. Like Bowie, I will add more of their gems to my collection. It's a win.
So good. Loved "Out on the Tiles" "Tangerine" and "That's the Way". The last song wasn't loading so I almost skipped it, but boy I'm glad I didn't. Can hear where Jack White gets some of his inspo from for sure.
Led Zeppelin at their very best - one of my favorite albums
As someone who grew up with streaming, and has pretty much only listened to music like that, something I find really interesting is to listen to an older album from before streaming or even CDs, and figure out where the split between side A and side B is. One of the things I love about this album, is how it almost feels like 2 smaller albums, but still sounds really good as one coherent piece. Side A is just classic Zepplin, and their iconic blues rock sound. And the way they change things so drastically but naturally on side B is amazing, taking a more acoustic borderline folky approach to their music but still remaining true to their signature sound.
Thumbs up
Fantastic album. "Since I've Been Loving You" is an all time favourite.
We come from the land of the ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow The hammer of the gods Will drive our ships to new lands To fight the horde, sing and cry Valhalla, I am coming On we sweep with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore We come from the land of the ice and snow From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow How soft your fields so green Can whisper tales of gore Of how we calmed the tides of war We are your overlords On we sweep with threshing oar Our only goal will be the western shore So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing Yeah, this is a must-hear album if there ever was one. 5/5
The hiss on this is weird, right? Like it was mastered direct to cassette, which was then duped 3-4 generations prior to pressing.
I always feel like III is the black sheep of the first four Zeppelin albums. Much more unplugged and raw. And while I love it for what it is, I do find that this and I are always the two I come back to the least. Need to be in a certain mood to really enjoy the whole album. Still incredible because nothing Zeppelin ever did was short of incredible, but it's never the first record I'm reaching for. Top tracks: Immigrant Song, Tangerine, That's the Way
A great album showed the creativity in the band. So many musical instruments on the album, both acoustic and electric. Great writing and arrangements.
Part of my enjoyment from listening to this album came from having a friend play along with me. It was a real joy to have someone with which to discuss how fire each song here was. Highly recommend.
This one is a classic. Very enjoyable from start to finish
"Led Zeppelin III" is a remarkable departure from the band's earlier work, showcasing a more diverse range of influences and experimentation. While their previous albums leaned heavily on blues and hard rock, this album delves into folk, acoustic, and even hints of country music. Tracks like "Immigrant Song" and "Out on the Tiles" maintain the band's signature energy and intensity, while songs like "Gallows Pole" and "Tangerine" demonstrate their ability to craft intricate, melodic compositions. The acoustic-driven tracks like "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" and "That's the Way" reveal a softer, more introspective side to the band. The album's artwork and packaging, featuring a rotating wheel of images, further emphasize the band's desire to break away from convention and explore new artistic avenues. While some fans may have initially been taken aback by the departure from their established sound, "Led Zeppelin III" has since become recognized as a bold and innovative statement from one of rock's most iconic bands.
I think that this one gets a little left out in the general Led Zep conversation, which is a shame. It’s also seen as their acoustic record, which is understandable, but that doesn’t do justice to the rockers, which are all fucking barnburners, or Since I’ve Been Loving You which is just a masterpiece Blues jam. It’s the ‘essential’ Led Zep album I come back to least, but when I do I remember how much I like it. It’s a high 9
No THIS is my actual favorite Led Zeppelin…until the next one pops up. I love this album. Beautiful guitar and diverse album
Three in a row. The Zeppelin continues down a deeper and darker path that excites and dazzles.
Always a classic
Review can't do the album justice. Just go listen to it.
In full disclosure, I love some Led Zep immediately knee jerk to a high rating. I don’t think III is my favorite of theirs but still great. Solid start with Immigrant Song. Since I’ve been loving you is such a cool jam and page’s guitar is masterful on that song. And I greatly enjoy the pop friendly hook on tangerine.
I'm late to listening to this one and I'm about halfway through. Finally decided to be true to myself and concede that Immigrant Song is one of the best album openers ever and for that alone 5*. 4.75/5
bestes lz album das ich je gehört habe fun & experimental
Led Zeppelin is classic
This is one of my top three favorite Led Zeppelin albums (the other two being "Physical Graffiti" and "Houses of the Holy"). A new direction of the band, "III" shows new influences from outside of American Blues music. The lush, rural, and ancient setting of Bron-Yr-Aur cottage in Wales clearly had an impact on the songwriting. Having once been to the area, I could clearly understand where the lean toward traditional acoustic music came from. The songs that were written at the time, but left off the album reflect this even further (notably "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do", which was released as the B-side to "Immigrant Song"). Four and one-half stars. A half-star is lost because of "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper". That song kinda sucks.
I like it very much! One on the best and my favorite hard rock albums! It is very intense, deep and saturated with a lot of different musical themes and tricks. Masterpiece!
Been a while since I heard this one. It suffers from being between Led Zep II (their best album) and Led Zep IV (the one with Stairway to Heaven on it). Still, despite the comparisons to its flanking albums it is a fantastic composition through and through and deserves its five stars.
One of my favorites with my favorite Zep song -since I’ve been loving you.
Highly experimental and varied album. I find this very hard to rate because the things that worked, worked so well they became cultural icons. However, some of the other stuff didn’t seem to hold up as well. I’m leaning more to crediting the experiments that because mainstream than the experimental stuff that didn’t quite hit.
Very interesting reading the comments on this album. Many laud it as an amazing piece of music (which it is) and a band at the peak of their craft. However they are right to point out it's almost all 200% energy and is quite an exhausting listen. Still, it's good at being what it is and is rightly one of the greatest albums.
It's alright.
Another fantastic Zeppelin album. It’s hard to compare between their other releases which it might be slightly less than for me but still so good. Rating: 4.6
What a great album. It starts with an bang and the complete first side is great. The B side then shows the ability of the band to write great folk songs as well.
Esto es una maravilla
Iconic like the other (I, II, IV) Albums
Oooh yes. Could possibly be my favourite zep album. Written in the Welsh valleys, it shows through in the second half. Since I've been loving you is an all time classic
Led Zeppelin 3 I know this album but I didn’t own it as a kid so I don’t know it as well as others. It was cool coming back to it. Immigrant song- some cool trebly bass with lots of movement I never noticed before Just friends- weird song. I liked it. Celebration day - 70s rock Since I’ve been loving you- their blues tunes were never my favorite tracks on the albums but this might be one of the best ones. I love bonhams drums on here Out on the tiles- so 70’s sounding Gallows- I like their acoustic arrangements Tangerine- classic and such a great chorus love the pedal steel That’s the way- cool vibe love the pedal steel Bronyaur stomp- guitar intro is cool. And i like the spoons Kind of cool to hear an album where the tempos fluctuate a bit and everything is not perfectly tuned. Not my favorite Zeppelin album but a 5 I’m context of this list. My favorite album of theirs is Houses of the Holy and it is somehow not even on this list. Rain Song, the Ocean- how’d they leave that one off?
Love some of the b sides on this, the acoustic vibe and direction of this album is cool, not my fav of led zep but still iconic.
This was fun. My fave was since I’ve been loving you. I like the songs where hes a bit more dynamic with his vocals.
very nice
!!!!
Þegar ég byrjaði að gefa dóma á þessari síðu vissi ég ekki að ég myndi fá nokkarar plötur með sömu hljómsveitinni þannig að ég gaf þeim hæstu mögulegu einkunn af því að ég get endalaust hlustað á Led Zeppelin. Hér erum við komin í aðra plötu og ég held mig bara við nákvæmlega sama. Ég get endalaust hlustað á Led Zeppelin. Hæsta einkunn möguleg. Algjörlega mitt grúv.
A killer album by a killer band
i really like the change they made on this album to folk rock, some really great tracks on this, i don’t have an issue with any tracks, i think this thing is great decent/strong 8
My favorite Zep record since forever.
Definitely not background music. This album demands full attention. Love it.
This was a lot of fun. When it started with the overplayed radio smash, Immigrant Song, I was gearing up for Led Zep rock front start to finish. Then it spun to blues, still holding their theme sound. Then folk. Then something from the Renaissance Fair. It kept changing, kept rocking, and kept sucking me in. Easy 5 stars.
This is my personal fav Zep album.
Strangely, as a person into loud guitar music, this is my first time listening to Zep 3. Immigrant Song is such a hard opener, the riff that launched a thousand ice cold Coors Banquets. Drum tone is insane throughout, I hate that dirtbag classic rock jagoffs in high school made me not want to mess with Led Zeppelin until I was like... in my 30s
Led Zeppelin rocking out before I was born!
Legendarno bato
Excellent
Classic
Nada que añadir
About 10 or so years ago I gave Zeppelin another chance. Never disliked them, just didn’t really care. Maybe because it corresponded with my starting to learn guitar, but I really really dug them. And this album was a particular favorite since it wasn’t full of songs that got played constantly on KGGO. So yeah, I got this one on vinyl. And yeah it’s good.
guh guhguh GUNK guh!! guh guhguh GUNK guh!! guh guhguh GUNK guh!! guh guhguh GUNK guh!! guh guhguh GUNK guh!! guh guhguh GUNK guh!! guh guhguh GUNK guh!! guh guhguh GUNK guh!! AH AH AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH....AAH!! (guh guhguh GUNK guh!!) AH AH AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH....AAH!!
You just can’t beat Zeppelin III. An entirely new sound. This is unlike anything ever created before
I do not like every Led Zeppelin album that much, but this is a great piece of music. No weak songs, a few covers and great original material. This sets a standard for 1970s (hard)rock.
This is my first album review for this project. Does it get any better than this? It's a perfect album. I dare you to name a band with four better players. These guys are geniuses and freakishly good.
A more acoustic sound from Zeppelin than their debut, that remains a Standout.
Fantastic album. Love that they went from hard rock to a more mellow sound on this one.
This is kinda tied with I for my fav Led Zeppelin album. Tangerine and That's the Way. So good :)
My favourite from Led Zeppelin because this album has Since I've been loving you, my favourite song from them.
Awesome!!!
I have loved this album most of my life. Immigrant Song is such a powerful album opener, but there's so many great tracks here. Friends has an amazing melody. Since I've Been Loving You might be my all time favorite Zeppelin song.
Fuck yes. A masterpiece including one of my all time favourite tracks, since I've been loving you, bluesey and phenomenon, wish I could give it 6
Sublime. This album offers a huge variety of musical explorations.
One of the great albums
Great Album, classic
I slept on this album for several years, but it's worth the wake and wait! Hearing 'Since I've Been Loving You' again stirred some special feeling within me.
ליגה אחת מעל הכול
The classical rock!
Falls easily into my list of the top 10 albums. Huge sounds on this album, launching with Immigrant Song, a song that puts your soul into battle mode.
❤️ Yes! Fantastic — the 2nd half is mostly acoustic and really shows just how good of a band they are. Gallows Pole, Tangerine, That’s the Way are three of my favorites!
This may be a tick down in raw power and overall quality from I and II but one has always regarded it more highly and felt a greater emotional attachment to it for reasons having to do with non-obviousness and personal circumstances; to wit, one listened to the “acoustic” side during a stoned afternoon nap in the first few weeks of college and, such were the wondrous dreams one had, awoke a different person — and an even more satisfied Zeppelin customer than one had been during high school (which was already an extremely satisfied customer). The experience also precipitated a classic Dead vs Zeppelin debate that would rage til spring term when one would drop out (a consequence, perhaps, of an excess of stoned naps). “Immigrant Song” is a great hook but it belongs on Physical Graffiti, as probably does the excellent and wildly underrated “Out on the Tiles.”"Friends” is the appropriate spiritual opener and sets the gloriously realized and mellow pastoral bliss of side 2. Never did they do a better blues than “Since I've Been Loving You” and what can one say about “Tangerine” other than one’s never loved a song (or frankly much else, artistic or otherwise, in this, our fallen world) more. It still sounds great and is one of not many things to not be embarrassed about from one’s long ago painful and pure youth, sad and hopeful and stoned as it was. “That’s the Way” seems objectively the better song now, it must be said.
One of the first cassettes that I ever bought. Still one of my favourite albums of all time. If you're looking for a good blues/rock song then Since I've Been Loving You has to be one of the best. Has to be one of the best top 10 albums of all time.
PALABRA MAYOR , CON DOS GRANDES JIMMY PAGE y ROBERT PLANT
One of my favorites - feels like the album where Zeppelin put all the pieces together. Comes out of the gate literally screaming and doesn’t let up.
As my personal favorite of the group’s discography, this one is going to get 5 stars. Not because it’s perfect, but it’s been the Zepp album I go back to the most. Why isn’t it perfect? I dunno, because I already called the other Zeppelin albums on this list perfect I guess? Or because it doesn’t quite have a perfect direction? In a perfect world, I might off one or two tracks here, but then it wouldn’t really be a full length album, sooooo. Then why is it my favorite? Maybe because the acoustic guitar tones Page solicits from tracks like That’s The Way are nostalgic to me in a way I’ve never been able to fully explain. Or how about Plant’s angelic, soaring finale to Since I’ve Been Loving You? Oh, wait, I know. It’s because Immigrant Song is the greatest hard rock song ever written. Don’t make me explain why this album is amazing. Just go listen to it for god’s sake.
Though underappreciated upon its 1970 release, Led Zeppelin III has proven over time to be one of the band's most crucial and inventive records, marking a transitional, masterful fusion of their hard rock roots with emerging folk influences.
My "lightest" 5 stars of their first four albums, but 5 stars nonetheless. 5/5
Rock Classic. The evolution of the Rock genre is in its DNA
Les Zeppelin fait de la bonne musique qu'es ce que tu veux que je te dise?
Led Zeppelin III is a masterpiece, we all know that. Some of the prior ‘hard rock’ elements are replaced by acoustic guitars and string arrangements that give the album a much darker sheen than its predecessor. ‘Friends’ and ‘Hats off to Roy Harper’ are especially spooky whilst ‘Tangerine’ and ‘That’s the Way’ feel like great come down music. Plus ‘Immigrant Song’ rocks. My favourite of their imperious first four albums.
Led Zeppelin is the best band ever. 6/5
One of my favorite bands. Many, many nights of listening to their first 6 albums.
Genius rock- blues- jazzband. Genius album.
Legendary
Alot more twangy guitars then I expected. Immigrant Song will always make me think about Nick Long. It was cool. But I think I mostly just like the singles. Would totally listen again. Great album.
For Led Zeppelin this album is a switch from the heavy R&B sound to a more acoustic set. Nevertheless, it's still classic Zeppelin. Great lyrics, vocals, and acoustical guitar work.
Loved the variety of music on this album. Favorites were the folk/acoustic tracks. Least favorite were the heavy blues. Nevertheless a great listen showcasing the wide range of Zeppelin's talents.
Absolute CLASS! Really good Rock Album that lacks shortcomings or bad songs.
It was such a surprise. I was so intimidated by their music growing up it just seemed like it was just was not for me and maybe I have more patience now I don’t know, but I really enjoyed it and it was really interesting and they were trying to do something completely different.
An album that seems a greatest hits from any other band… Not to mention other Led Zeppelin’s albums that could also be a hits collection on their own. They have some many great songs they choose to went with numbers for albums for 4 in a row. It’s not a surprise that a lot of people thought that they had something going on with the man in Red. But what they do not know is that the man in Res loves Led!
Dear god …. Since I’ve Been Loving You, the guitar, Plant’s vocals. It could be the greatest song of all time. That’s not hyperbole. Overall III has a lot of different styles. Immigrant Song is one of the best openers there is, you can literally hear the Vikings coming for you. But really I think the album shines most with it slows down. Gallows Pole, Tangerine are incredible as is That’s the Way and of course the aforementioned Since I’ve Been Loving You. This is Led Zeppelin at their most varied and maybe their best 9.2/10
So different from other LZ albums. Love the focus on acoustic qualities. Almost sounds live. Diversifies their sound.
They sang songs about love, about vikings, about vikings making love ❤️ Greatest rock band ever
Another amazing chapter in the Zeppelin catalog. A nice departure to more acoustic sounds.
Fantastic. Not what I was expecting in the slightest. Way more acoustic than I thought it would be. Listened several times and will put it into my library.
It's like hitting the lottery seeing this album pop up! From hard rock to folk this album hitting it all! Perfection. Favorite songs: Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Gallows Pole, That's The Way, Bron Y-Aur Stomp.
Top
Yep
I’m already biased as Zep is one of my favorite rock bands of all time. It’s just a great album to me.
most people are going to hear bron-yr-aur stomp and just not feel it half as deeply as i do, and that makes me feel a little bit alone. but sometimes you meet someone who gets it, and its nice
I feel like the band really flexes their fantasy/mythology muscles on this album, going beyond normal hard rock themes to slightly proggy realms, but it all still works, top to bottom. It also still rocks, with "Immigrant Song" as an all-time opener. Even "Out on the Tiles", a deep cut that never made it into their boxed set, stands out (for me at least) as a fantastic rocker with a fantastic synced bass/guitar riff and an accompanying novel rhythm.
Favorite tracks: Immigrant Song, Celebration Day, Since I’ve Been Loving You Rating: 5/5
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
After listening to a few Led Zeppelin albums, I can say that I’ve enjoyed them but not really been blown away by them. I do into today’s album with curious optimism. It’s unlikely to be bad from experience, but how good will it be? Let’s listen! Songs I already knew: Immigrant Song Favourites: Immigrant Song, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp This was really quite remarkable. The vocals, the excellent guitar playing, the everything of it all just sounded marvellous. It started familiar with Immigrant Song, with so much variety in each song after that it was impossible to have my mind wonder elsewhere. I’m curious as to how many people first heard Immigrant Song on School Of Rock. I know I did!
Considering this album kicks off with "Immigrant Song", I tend to forget how folky the remainder is, particularly in the latter half. It's a phenomenal listen that really foreshadows sounds that'll be explored in the back half of their catalog, as well as in Plant's solo career. I'm struggling between 4 and 5 stars here, as there are a few songs that I find to be a little more forgettable. But I can't deny how this last listen made me feel.
AAAAAAA AAAA clave
Love
Led Zeppelin has got be one of the greatest bands of all time, you put 4 extremely talented and proficient musicians together, and the result is some of the greatest music every written.
Classic rock album. Such great songs.
Kova, immigrant song parasta!
One of my favourite Led Zeppelin albums, best track Friends
Ten stars for the best group of all times.
Since I’ve Been Loving You and Tangerine surely give it 5 stars already - all 4 members are one of the greatest of their chosen craft, making for an insane amount of talent concentrated in just 45 minutes
Jeg var klar på at kalde den overrated fordi jeg ikke har hørt den i 10+ år men den var fed! Jeg fandt kun 1 filler og det var det sidste nummer
Quick and beautiful. Like the bluesy vibe stuff the most
I might still hold IV a bit higher, but this was great! "Immigrant Song" is such an amazing, rocking opener, and by the end we have Jimmy Page on banjo featured in a great series of folk/acoustic songs. Good stuff!
Some more excellent Led Zeppelin. I won’t complain.
So many great songs here. Immigrant Song, Friends, Celebration Day ("my, my, my, I'm so happy!"), Gallows Pole, That's the Way, Bron-y-aur Stomp. Love love love it.
I have spent my life deficient in knowledge of and exposure to Led Zeppelin. Still, I have known and The Immigrant Song since childhood and it was always my favorite LZ Song. I still love that song and was excited to hear its album of origin. I am surprised a bit. The album surprised me with the great performances of softer songs like The Gallows Pole and That’s the Way. Really lovely. Lots of interesting arrangements make obvious Led Zeppelin’s formidable musicianship.
Those drums...
One of my favourite albums, been listening to it for many years.
classic!
I really liked this one, knew more songs that I thought and found it very listenable.
I mean what is there to say? This is a MASTERPIECE. Some that I didn't know, like Bron-Y-Aur Stomp is a low key jam. No other notes, just excellent.
First time hearing this band, hoping for great things!
Loved it. It was rock and blues and pop and country. And dragons and knights. What’s not to love.
Acoustic Zeppelin hits different for sure. Amazing.
Not my favorite LZ but still pretty rocking.
Iconic
gas album, i loved the loving you song
I forgot that this is actually an blues album. Liked it but missed the complicated stuff
Inte deras bästa, men fortfarande ett fantastiskt album. 4,5 av 5!
Some could argue this is their best record. I really like how one half of the record is heavier and the other half is softer and more acoustic based. Strong songwriting throughout. Amazing artistry as well. And that cover art! Just consistently good.
Didn't realize how short the Immigrant song was. Songs after feel like going through tough feelings. Sounds great. I guess I never realized how how much twang is happening with their music. Nice and mellow.
Maybe should be a 10. I was listening while working in the lab, so I didn't pay close attention to lyrics. I should have listened through this one a long time ago. Great music, there's a good sample of the folky side of Led Zeppelin. I learn to play some of these songs.
Superb
Zep adds acoustic guitars. Magic happens.
maybe the best LZ album.
Now I finally get where a bunch of my favourite bands got their sound from.
Killer, I think their best early work. Going from Since I've been Loving You, with an incredible vocal performance from Plant, to the groove and riff of Out On The Tiles. Hat's off to Roy Harper is the weak point on the album, would be better not as the final track.
One of my favorite albums ever. Immigrant Song might be the greatest rock song under 3 minutes ever written. Although the rest of the album does have a decidedly different feel, songs like Friends, Celebration Day, and Out on the Tiles complement each other perfectly. Since I’ve Been Loving You is simply a masterpiece. I love every song on the album except for That’s the Way. Can we be real here? What’s the deal with so many people saying it’s their favorite LZ song? I contend that if THAT is your favorite song, you don’t really like Led Zeppelin. You just like that song. Please listen to it again. Really listen to it. It’s SUPER boring. Nothing happens. It’s 5 1/2 minutes of the same thing. Plus: “kissing tiny flowers”, ugh. I skip it almost every time. Other than that though, this album is a monster!
Another banger from Led Zeppelin. Perhaps not their best one, but it's crazy how consistent they are. Even their "bad" albums are better than some artists could ever dream of creating. Perhaps this one doesn't contain their most famous songs, but all songs are just really good, where 'Immigrant Song' probably sits on the throne as the most recognized one.
Still awesome.
I am very familiar with the work of Led Zeppelin, they were my favorite band from middle school up through college. I think this is sort of the "cool" pick for peoples' favorite Led Zeppelin album, but it's not mine. It's still good, though. I appreciate it's more country/folk feel as compared to some of their other albums, but I still feel like the track listing ends up being a bit weighed down by "That's the Way" and "Hats off to (Roy) Harper". That being said, it is still a great album.
Spent a lot of time trying to make the heads of Robert, Jimmy, John Paul, and John appear all at the same time through the small punched holes of that cover (never succeeded, tough). Those of you who have the original design for said cover--either on vinyl or on deluxe CD editions--know of what I'm talking about here. As they know how frigging good Led Zeppelin's first real explorations into English folk and quieter-yet-somber moods are. As adventurous as *III* is, the unmistakable blues/hard-rock feel is still there on the first side of this record--with a bunch of intense bangers on side one, the most incredible of them being of course opener "Immigrant Song" and its relentless groove. Yet Led Zeppelin then quickly makes a great 180-degree turn with "Friends", an acoustic cut whose minor string section/mellotron/ synth arrangement brings strong cinematic flavours to the whole thing. Back to a rock banger with "Celebration Day", and then to an iconic power blues highlight with "Since I've Been Loving You". That emotional middle section/bridge towards the end of the song is the stuff of legend. And then "Out On The Tiles" closes side one with a strong cut as well--catchy chorus and frantic guitar riffing included. As suggested earlier, side two is a more pastoral affair, but it has its share of highlights as well, including country-tinged, pre-"Stairway To Heaven" number "Tangerine", and *Astral Weeks*-like meditative and melancholic cut "That's the Way". Jimmy Page's "borrowing" of riffs and melodies now extended from ripping off bluesmen to reproducing traditional folk harmonies as well--never forget how much of a cunning thieving fox Page was during Led Zeppelin's heyday. But what a brilliant fox he was! And no matter where *III*'s music really came from, everything sounds super duper tight in it anyway. As tight as a "volvelle" inside an album cover can be. 5/5. Number of albums left to review: 441 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 262 (including this one) Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 133 Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more essential to me): 168
So good, a dlassic
One of Led Zeppelin's weaker albums and still better than 950 of the offerings here...
4.5-5
Exceptional
Musical dna. And my favourite zep album. Yes, this is a must listen. One of the great opening tracks. aaa AA aaaaa AA. Down down down de down down… There’s a few bands where you have to hear their place over a few albums. Beatles, stones, zep. Springsteen. Queen. Dylan. The band. Maybe a couple more. Zeppelin definitely. Tangerine, the glory of gallows pole. Mah mah ma, I’m so happy, I’m gonna join a baaaand. … celebration day. John Paul Jones is the secret sauce. Listen to gallows pole. Mandolin, banjo. A great bassist. Of course Bonzo is great and page and plant … mwah. 2 stars taken off for since I’ve been loving you. 12 stars.
I was 21 when I saw Led Zeppelin’s only ever Sydney concert, at the old Showground in February ‘72. Their most famous album, Led Zep 4, had been released 3 months before. The band played 4 songs from that album. But 6 of the 17 songs they played that day were from Led Zeppelin III, which demonstrates how fond of this album the band were. I have to admit that when III was to be released, I just wanted more Whole Lotta Love. What we got was quite a surprise, and it took me a while to embrace it. But I soon did. The acoustic aspect to it still sounds fresh today. I hadn’t played it for a while. They were such a talented band. Such great songwriters. No filler here.
When I first moved out of home in the very early 1990s, the share houses I lived in were pretty musical in tone. We listened to a lot of contemporary alternative of various flavours, but also a lot of what we referred to as "ancestor metal". Deep Purple, Sabbath, Led Zep, et hoc genus omnes. Dave C. was never an official flatmate, but he spent a lot of time hanging out in our lounge room, and he loved this record, so we played it a lot. Personally, Led Zep II was my favourite, but this is still a pretty great record, and I find it hard to critique. I am reminded of Jon Brion's distinction between songs and performance pieces (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_RsLDMeRj4 for an excerpt, or Sound Opinions episode #32, 2006, for the full interview). He cites Led Zeppelin as the best example of performances pieces: it's all about that specific performance by those specific musicians. And they are amazing musicians playing fantastic performances, but the songs are either simplistic (e.g. Immigrant Song), generic (e.g. Since I've Been Loving You) or loosely plagiarized (e.g. Hats Off to Roy Harper). But it is hard to imagine anyone else playing them in way that is nearly as powerful or compelling as these performances. Brion points that out that there are very few satisfying covers of Led Zeppelin songs (with the notably exception of Dread Zeppelin). I mean, have you ever heard anyone try to cover Immigrant Song in a way that didn't make you just shrug and think to yourself "the original version is much better"? Led Zep are a cornerstone band for me, and I will happily listen to any of their first five albums any day of the week. I know the critiques (bombastic, stupid lyrics, sexist, plagiarized), but I really enjoy listening to them. Five stars for awesomeness and classic status.
Probably Led Zep's most consistent album. I and IV probably contain better songs but each have their weak points. This just starts an inch from the top and cruises on from there. Perfect.
This one isn’t usually my go to zeppelin album but still is a great album and is a clear step forward in their progression as a band. Immigrant song is the best hard rock song ever in my opinion so it starts off with a banger. Celebration day and out on the tiles are two that I haven’t heard much but we’re kinda fire too. Since I’ve been loving you is another Led Zeppelin staple and highlights how good the band is at making dynamic solos and not just blistering fast shredding. I wish they didn’t split the album into a mainly electric front half and acoustic back half cuz I like all of the back half but definitely prefer the energy of the first. I do like the folky-ness if the acoustic ones though and they only get better on the next album.
The "acoustic" record. The pivot from their first two records was noticeable with amazing results. So many classics on this record. A classic.
A true classic!
This might be my favorite Zeppelin record. That's a tough call with the size of their catalog, but Out On the Tiles has long been one of my favorite Zeppelin songs, as has Friends with its haunting dissonant strings. Tangerine was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar and is one of the songs responsible for my love of lap steel playing. I think the only song I'm not in love with is Gallows Pole, and that's mostly just from memories of how much the video of the Zeppeling Unledded version of this was overplayed in the 90's. 4.5/5
Zeppelin were one of the first bands I ever fell in love with, and while I don’t listen to them that often anymore, sometimes nothing sounds better than their style of rock music. And it’s still pretty cool how they shook things up by unplugging for a lot of this album, but doubled down on their bluesy roots. I mulled it over, and I’m going to give it an A and 5 stars. Page may be a creep and sloppy guitarist, but the music endures for a reason.
This is my first listen to this album, and it’s as good as any by Led Zeppelin. When I was little, I thought ‘Immigrant Song’ was like the coolest song ever, and it’s not like I don’t see why I would think that now. My favorite song on this album ended up being the blues dirge ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’; I don’t know why, but I just really enjoyed it. Anyway, I’m praying that I get their second album next, so I can get them in descending order.
Legendary
An all time classic. In my to 3 favourite Zep albums.
🎶 Tangerine, Tangerine, living reflection from a dream I was her love, she was my queen, and now a thousand years between 🎵 Perfection.
Probably my least favourite LZ album and yet it’s amazing.
Personally, I prefer this over Led Zeppelin IV.
Well this is a five right off the bat! Fucking love Led Zeppelin! Funny a girl at the coffee shop here was wearing a LZ shirt. It was good to see that. And I guess this was meant to be! ❤️ I had a song on this album hearted "Since I've Been Loving You" such a good song! Slow and bluesy.
This record is an absolute classic!
It's probably not my favorite Zeppelin record, but it's pretty fantastic. It just showcases what the band does best so well. Robert Plant's vocals are definitely the highlight of this album.
No explanation necessary.
Brilliant album!
The best Led Zep album in my opinion. It is possibly the most diverse collection of songs (other than Physical Graffiti, which was a double album) but kicks off with some great driving, riffing numbers in Immigrant Song, Friends and Celebration Day. Some of Jimmy Page's most dexterous and imaginative soloing is evident on the bluesy Since I've Been Loving You and the beautiful Tangerine. The acoustic numbers on side two are the perfect counter to lazy stereotypes about Zep just being rock behemoths. Highly recommended
What a revelation! The only song I recall hearing before is “Immigrant Song.” It’s like hearing a whole undiscovered masterpiece. I know the acoustic songs didn’t please all the fans, but it’s still Led Zeppelin at their peak. And it hasn’t been played to death my whole life. Love it!
Good
Vad ska man säga? Begåvade gossar.
Absolutely class, love this album
A looser and more experimental album than the two masterpieces of hard rock that precede it, "Led Zeppelin III" is more eccentric than other albums of theirs and has more folk and country-influenced tracks on it, particularly in the second half. Blues was always at the core of their style but previously they’d played it in the style of hard psychedelic rock and heavy metal. Here, they play with acoustic guitars more. The obvious outlier of course is the opener, "Immigrant Song," which sounds like no other hard rock song ever recorded. Just an insane thundering rhythm with that wild scream as a hook. "Since I've Been Loving You" is a stunner too. Amazing slow burn with some terrific vocal riffing from Robert Plant near the end. I was also drawn to "Tangerine" today in a way I never was before. It's beautiful. The highlights combined with the album's unique personality put this in classic territory for me.
Led Zeppelin makes the best hard rock music and this is one of their best albums. They expand their sound into more folk compared to their first 2 albums. Highlight: Since I’ve Been Loving You
Marvellous
NICEEEEEEEEEEEE
A fantastic album without a bad song to be heard, beautifully melancholic in places which just enhances the variety in both mood and instrument selection and shows the growing skill of this amazing band.
Básicamente: mi disco favorito hoy día.
One of my favourite albums, my Dad has this album on vinyl, originally purchased on release. It was the rotating cover edition and it was the first vinyl I ever played, sooooo good. Immigrant Song is amazing then followed by Friends, Celebration Day, That's The Way, and Out on the Tiles, just a great listen. 6/5!!
I mean, what more could I even say that hasn't already been said? Great album from start to finish with some classic Zeppelin hits.
This is my favourite LZ album and one of the best albums that I know. Side 1 has two of the greatest songs ever recorded, Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You (Jimmy doing his Janis homage), but it's side two that really gets me going. It's such a journey.
Immigrant song Utter masterpiece Friends Meh Celebration Day Mmkay Since I've been loving you Nice. This was a jam. How have I not heard this one before? Erica: I love this song, it's one of their more underrated songs. (Of course she knows it, I think I really need this music discovery journey we're on) Out on the tiles Also a jam. Gallows pole You know, this may be one of the greatest rock bands in history! Tangerine Meh That's the way This is nice. I like this. Bron-y-aur stomp I don't, as a rule, like stomp songs. Rules are made to be broken. This is good. Hats off to (Roy) Harper Not a great ender
I really enjoy listening to Led Zeppelin and this is one of their best. Loved the energy of immigrant song live performance.
Banger
I had not seen Led Zeppelin I or II so I was completely lost and had no idea what was going on
Led Zep III, iconic folk blues rock from 1970
I used to think of Led Zeppelin as these untouchably cool figures. Now I know that they’re actually huge nerds. Their devotion to the folk music canon with the flavors of hard rock makes for really interesting and timeless music. There’s a lot packed into this relatively short album
i feel like i’ve always liked zeppelin but as i’ve gotten more experience listening to music i’ve appreciated them even more. this is a great album
6/10, 60%
Led Zeppelin is one of those rare legacy bands that really had a run of perfect albums. With a greater emphasis on "acoustic" songs, III is a fantastic sonic exploration.
It's just magnificent.
Amostra definitiva do rock como arte transcendental, uma obra-prima. Clássico no sentido de materializar a genialidade e criatividade nas melodias e execução vocal e instrumental.
I really like albums like this. Complete changeups from a band's normal archetype--it feels like they're doing it specifically to prove how talented they are. I can't speak for their motivation here, but I can speak for Led Zeppelin's talent. To change up the style so much for this album while maintaining their unique vibe is probably the hardest thing you can possibly do as a band. Favorite track (besides Immigrant Song): Out on the Tiles
It's Led Zeppelin, and I am a lifelong fan of the band, so as one might expect, I really do love this album. As the Wikipedia article notes, on this, their third album, the band starts to get into a wider range of styles and portends things to come in the albums that follow. Also, on this album, we see more from John Paul Jones, long underrated and underappreciated as a multi-instrumentalist and superbly talented musician, both as a composer and a performer. Superb.
Ahhh, the album just before perfect IV. And it is, almost perfect. This is one of my all time favorites, a great album cover to cover. This album shows Led Zeppelin's sounds transitioning without letting go of their roots.
Even a bad led zeppelin album is a great album, and this is far from a bad one. I got into Led Zeppelin from my dad, and this album has both his favourite and my favourite Led Zeppelin song in Gallows Pole and Tangerine. Also this managed to avoid any of the weirder songs they did when they sing about battles vs elves and shit.
This is a very strong album by Led Zeppelin, following two other strong albums, all within two years. I grew up really loving Zeppelin and so many of these songs are the reason why. Solid, 5/5. Also, unrelated to the great music, I've always loved this album cover. Standout Tracks: Immigrant Song, Friends, Celebration Day, Gallows Pole, Tangerine, That's the Way, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
Immigrant Song is such an awesome opening song for an album! While the next few songs coast solidly by, the last 4-5 songs bring it skyhigh again. I love the folk/blue style rock, the vocals style, the variety, and masterful instrumentals!
This album is SO GOOD until the last song which I hated :\. BUT- an album of comprehensive genius. Out On the Tiles just became one of my favorite songs of theirs ever. They combined blues, rock, metal all together to make a brilliant record
Awesome
Holy shit what an album! A wonderful mix of metal, blues and folk. I was invested in this one for pretty much the entire album. Only song off here I really knew was Immigrant Song but I think I just found a new favourite song of this album. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp just has a wonderful energy and went straight into one of my playlists on first listen. Great album through and through. Favourite: Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
7.5/10
Un classique pour moi, c'Est vraiment ou Led Zeppelin commence à exploser leur style et à faire des trucs vraiment unique. C'est un de mes albums préférés . 5
In my top 10 favorite albums of all time
Classic
Heavy, blues, acoustic, folk. Has it all.
Best Zepp album? Maybe so maybe not, House's and Physical graffiti may be better but this is a good one! There's no way Matt can't give this a 5
Zeppelin RULES
Every song is amazing. Favorites: Since I been loving you, Gallows pole, Tangerine, Bron-y-aur stomp
Great
Since I’ve been loving you in a masterpiece
masterpiece
Great album start to finish.
It's brilliant
Doesn't quite achieve the greatness of their best, but that's a really, really high bar. This is incredible. Best track: Immigrant Song
das antiga já
I won't call II their underrated or underappreciated album because it is highly regarded. But for me it's a bit the forgotten album as I & II and even Zoso, get most of my attention but III is every bit as good and in some ways the superior of the four albums. This is the album where they expand their musical pallette from straight ahead blues rock to incorporate elements of British folk and country-rock and do so beautifully on songs like Tangerine and and Galows Pole and especially Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. Every song on this album deserves classic or at least near-classic status and among the four classic Zeppelin albums it is the most rich and rewarding and varied listen. 5 stars
This album is sex, drugs, & rock n roll. It's a juggernaut & will forever be one of the best albums in history. If I'm ranking this album out of 1001, it's gotta be top ten.
Huippuhyvä ja monipuolinen! Suosikkeja Immigrant Song, Since I've Been Loving You, Out on the Tiles ja Tangerine. Erityisesti kappaleessa Since I've Been Loving You on upea kitara, vaikka muut kappaleet ovat kyllä erittäin hyvän kuuloisia myöskin. Taidokasta soittoa ja laulua kaikilta bändin jäseniltä! :)
“Since I’ve been loving you” is so freakin good. It was a favorite of mine when I first heard it 35 years ago. Tangerine is unique. “That’s the way” is great and, as most zeppelin albums, has a clean recording quality that shines the finger plucking on good gear.
This one comes off the ropes swinging with "Immigrant Song" and doesn't stop slapping. Even when it slows down, it feels like it's just trying to lull you into a false sense of security so it can catch you off guard and sucker punch you in the eye.
Wonderful
Weakest of the 4 triology! Still a classic
Five stars for the opening track alone! It's cliché to say this is the best album, but there's a reason folks love it. Solid, dragged a tiny bit in the middle, finished strong. Great album.
Love this album. It's long but it's fantastic. May be my favorite partially because I don't think they stole any of the music for this one.
Not the best album Led Zeppelin made, but it holds a special place in my heart.
Great mix of electric and acoustic. Perfect playing by all involved. Guitar heavy in a perfect way. First four albums really show them developing and improving on their influences.
One of my favorites!
With this album they employed a new artistic strategy called "writing your own songs"
Just a classic.
5/5
twee laatste nummers zeker zijn een eye-opener. staan bij de favorieten
Schlechte fünf Sterne.
wow ! very enjoyable
It's quite hard to think that, when this came out, the detractors came through with full force. Two albums of tectonic plate shifting, blues-indebted rock and roll could have enabled Led Zeppelin to head down that route forever, with no changes to be expect. Instead, they decided to hunker down and seek new sounds. And all the better for it. What was a good indication of the same ol' same ol' later turns into a tapestry of often wonderous tunes that leaves one wondering how they'd become capable of making such music. Without this, we probably wouldn't have had IV or Houses of the Holy or any other Zeppelin albums that came after it. Loving Led Zeppelin III? Well, that's the way.
Solid album. About as close to the best American band of all time as I have ever found. Greatest musical regret is not seeing them live. Gallow's Pole, Tangerine, it's hard to pick a favorite. Maybe That's the Way is the one. Hats Off to Roy is the weakest track and it's still pretty good based on originality alone. Easy 5 for me.
Immigrant song is so overplayed. It's good, but really, the best song on this album is "Since I've Been Loving You." Led Zeppelin III has a lot of the lesser played songs, but it still cooks. Fifty years later, Plant and Page just cannot be paralleled. Not their best, but still an amazing album. Tons of energy and great guitar riffs.
It may be the weakest Led Zeppelin album of the three we have listened to. But it is still an easy 5. Because it's still Led Zeppelin.
I feel like I should give this only 4 stars just to differentiate it from the Zeppelin albums we have had on this list so far...but I can't. Their whole sound is just so iconic and while often imitated, it has never been duplicated. It is to be expected that the third album they put out in the span of less than 2 years will have some weaker material, and it doesn't matter because they are at such a high level that those differences are meaningless.
Used to be my favourite Led Zeppelin album growing up. Loved the shift to the pyschedilic weird folky sound of this record, Friends being my favourite off this and my favourite all time LZ song. Gallows Pole, Immigrant Song, Since I’ve Been Loving You, all belters. Been about 15/20 year since I last heard this but I still love it
5/5
I know it's not most people's favorite Led Zeppelin album, but man is it still so good. Starts with 'Immigrant Song,' which is just catchy and fun and iconic. Most people's favorite Led Zeppelin song is 'Stairway to Heaven,' and for good reason, but 'Immigrant Song' is mine. Then we move into something new and the pace slows down a bit with 'Friends.' It's acoustic, it's different, but that doesn't stop it from being a great song with a sweet message. 'Since I've Been Loving You' is bluesy and powerful and really hits home that you're not going to get the same ol' Zeppelin throughout this album. They play with different styles and it makes for a colorful and unique experience. This felt like Led Zeppelin knowing they were at the top of their game and doing what made them happy, and it comes across through the music. It's not the fastest pace Led Zeppelin has ever been, nor the hardest rock, but to me it's some of the best music they've put out there.
5+ Uskomatonta, jokaisessa biisissä on erilaisia kiinnostavia elementtejä, kaikissa hyvät lyriikat. Biisit soivat paremmin albumissa kuin erikseen. Albumin ulkopuolella soisi parheiten "Tangerine" ja "Immigrant song" ja "Since I've been loving you". Ne ovat albumin erikoisimmat kappaleet, myös ilmeisesti suosituimmat. Akustista kitaraa esiintyy albumilla aika paljon, varsinkin sen loppupuolella.
Even their 4th or 5th best album is five stars from me.
Led Zeppelin is timeless and perfect. Could not make this album if you tried.
Really enjoyed
My first favorite album. So amazing and timeless.
Classic, used to be one of my least favorite Zeppelin albums, but loved it this time.
You can't go wrong with the epic scream from Immigrant Song, a still frequently played classic. The album is a good mix of different sound mixes and different tempos. Nice.
asd
Great
Incredible innovation with such unique sounds. Guitar skills out of this world.
When I think of Zeppelin I think of my dad. I feel as if they almost belong to him, and I can’t listen to them because they aren’t mine. I’ve only ever heard the hits, of course I’ve heard Immigrant Song about a million times in every movie. Listening to a full album feels like a real treat. Celebration Day to me cements this album in its time, the 70s, where every other song feels timeless. Perhaps that’s why quite a few of their albums are in this list- it showed music doesn’t have to be a product of the era it was made in. In my naivety I thought that like most other bands, Plant’s vocals would soar above the supporting instruments, but this album shows me that all members were equal and cherished pillars that made Zeppelin what it was. Jones’ bass in Gallows Pole and Tangerine, Plant’s vocals in Immigrant Song and Hats off to (Roy) Harper, Bonham’s legendary skills on Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Page’s guitar on Tangerine and Gallows Pole, make each and every song it’s own masterpiece while simultaneously being a cohesive album where each song is a part of a seamless puzzle. I had previously thought of Zeppelin as an ominous group with dark lyrics, but this album left me with a strange positive feeling. I’m excited to dive into the rest of their discography! My favorites: Since I’ve Been Loving You, Gallows Pole, Friends, Tangerine
🤟
This album is godly, probably my 2nd favorite Led Zep album. Music literally does not get more based than Led Zeppelin. Immigrant Song: One of the coolest songs of all time. No question. There was this really cool ascending bass line during the “on we sweep” bit that I hadn’t noticed before. Friends: SO cool. Love the weird main riff that has both the sharp fourth and the flat third. The strings add this fantastically foreboding, ominous energy. Celebration Day: Weirdly funky, great underrated tune. There’s a cool nimble bassline during the chorus here too. Since I’ve Been Loving You: Dear God this is the SEXIEST song of all time. It is dripping with tension and passion. I LOVE this song. I wish the electric organ was louder in the mix. Out on the Tiles: AMAZING drum groove. I like the parts during the verses when he throws in these awesome polyrhythms. I love drummers who don’t just keep time, but change up what they’re doing constantly and add intricacy. Some dull people think that less is more, but they are so so wrong. Love Bonzo’s interesting grooves. Gallows Pole: Amazing. I love, love the folksy sound on this one, and when the drums come in it is impossible not to get excited. Led Zeppelin wasn’t even a folk band, but they do folk better and more fun than virtually every folk band of their time. Tangerine: I like the guitar tone on this one. This song feels nostalgic to me. That’s The Way: Again, Led Zep’s acoustic songs are top tier. I adore when a heavy rock band can write a good acoustic song. Bronyaur Stomp: So fun! The guitar-playing is very interesting on this one. Hats off to Roy Harper: cool sliding bluesy guitar. Nice lyrics lol
Probably the Led Zeppelin album I've listen to the most, perhaps because outside of Immigrant Song the songs haven't been overplayed to death. Some of my favorite songs on here, Tangerine, Since I be loving you and That's the Way. Always fun to listen to this.
Great album from top to bottom and it all works. Some hard rock, some folk, some acoustic. I think the first 4 of Zeppelin's albums are probably going to get 5s from me.
Love this album!
This is a no-brainer 5 album. One of the greatest albums from one of the greatest bands of all-time. Immigrant Song is such an amazing tune. We used to play it in HS marching band during HS and I loved hearing the crowd sing the "AAAAAHHHHH" part. So bluesy, so heavy, so soft at times. Just an all-around fantastic album. I listened to this one on my original vinyl pressing that I've had in my collection for 25+ years.
Classic Led Zeppelin album, immigrant song, that's the way, bron-yr-aur stomp. Great songs great album
Can't go wrong with some Zeppelin
Classic
Oh Zeppelin..you were my love for ages. How can I pick a favorite album.
very cool
III isn’t necessarily one of the first albums I think of when I think of Led Zeppelin, but it's an outstanding album. It's interesting in that song for song, it probably has fewer classic rock staples on it than any other Zeppelin album, except for Presence. But as deep cuts go, the songs on this album are fantastic. Stylistically, III is more diverse than Zeppelin's first two albums, which is what makes it so exciting to listen to. The introduction of more acoustic, folk-based influences reveals so much more depth in the band's abilities. They don't have to be so heavy or hit you over the head with their sound. But man, when they want to be heavy, look out. You want bombast, here's "Immigrant Song." Need some cool pedal steel guitar, try "Tangerine." Looking for a lovely pastoral sounding acoustic number, here's "That's the Way." You want a slow burning blues odyssey, go for "Since I've Been Loving You." Practically every song is an excursion into a different musical territory, but everything comes together so organically. Nothing feels out of place. You can also tell the band is having a blast making this album. I absolutely love it. Fave Songs (All songs, from most to least favorite): Since I've Been Loving You, That's the Way, Friends, Immigrant Song, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Tangerine, Gallows Pole, Hats Off to (Roy) Harper, Celebration Day, Out on the Tiles
I had a solid Led Zeppelin phase in high school. They are still great. Not every song is a winner, but the ones that are are awesome.
