Reviews (page 6 of 14)
I had to think about this one for a while. To me this is some of the greatest guitar tone ever recorded. The highs on this album are so unbelievably high. Mayonnaise, Cherub Rock, Today, and Hummer would all be found somewhere on the list of Joe Begley’s list of 1001 greatest songs ever. With all that said, how does this album not get a 5? This is not a case of the high are high, and the lows are low. This is a case of the highs are high, and the lows are meh. It’s an album that’s been in the rotation for me for well over a decade, and it will be in the rotation for me for the rest of my life. With that said, they just trimmed this thing to 40 minutes it would perfect.
Joe once asked me what I thought the best guitar tone on an album was. I'd never thought about it, but answered with 'Perfect From Now On.' He told me it was this album, and I can't really argue with it. "Cherub Rock" is a truly iconic moment. "Today" and "Hummer" keep the momentum going, but there are some songs in the back half that go on and on but I don't really need all that.
“Alright, this take, don’t give a fuck” studio banter has a 1% chance of not being cringe. This is cringe. This album is great. I think my idea of Billy corgan is almost in the way of enjoying smashing pumpkins. Too much time wondering what he is like as a person. It’d be better just not ever considering that. Such an interesting mix of hard and soft sounds. I did get stuck on his delivery of this - soft line, hard line, angel baby voice, yelling, etc etc
Interesting to get this album back-to-back with Metallica’s Black Album. Rick Rubin had impeccable and perfect sound with Metallica, though seemed to use tempo to suggest any kind of emotional element. Butch Vig creates soundscapes and emotional depth in otherwise whiny melancholy crybaby rock tunes with heavy riffs. It’s an interesting record to be sure and maybe one of the better albums of the early 90s.
love, love , love
a classic alternative album, and as a fan of this genre the album was recommended to me before. Though, im more of a alternative metal fan, so it wasnt really my tempo. I liked today, disarm as it was more theatrical, mayonaise and luna
It's amazingly solid but the Smashing Pumpkins can never escape how irritating Corgan is in a lot of ways. Most of the tracks hit so hard instrumentally that it's easy enough to ignore with this record, but he's ever present nonetheless.

Good album to start this project as I've been wanting to get more into alt rock. I'm sure I've heard them on the radio before, or many bands influenced by them, and though I never liked this type of music as a kid, it makes me nostalgic now. I enjoy the density of sounds punctuated by moments of gentler guitars. Favorite tracks: Today, Disarm
its good! the songs are quite long which isnt necessarily a bad thing. i listened to it at night and the second part of silverfuck scared me i’ll definitely need to re listen to everything tho
It good. Mainly the guitar tones and the energy. Some kickass songs (and a few unmemorable ones). #337.
okay i get it now. love billy corgan's voice despite myself, mayonaise and today are both all time incredible songs, ending of silverfuck is awesome
billy corgan (like kurt) failed to realize there was a third option beyond burning out/fading away: transitioning. anyway let's boogie. it's a classic for a reason. despite all my misgivings (i will say butch vig Knows how to get massive guitar sounds; ur always good in my book gng) about the recording process and the man behind the name. and the instruments. it's basically all just him. everyone else seems like a chiller at the time (despite the struggles). d'arcy i love you. please (can someone take a flash photo of james so he gets out the infinite sadness place) enjoy life and money away from this plonker. speaking of: (related but unrelated) the thing about the fact that we have to listen to the feature length entirety of mellon collie is that like many a 90s double album (or oasis not saving the good b sides) you could've just kept the 10-15 great songs. (actually related) 4-4.5. incredible track runs. geek usa is a stonker. luna Might be an all timer. i'm not gonna argue james' guitar ability is overrated but. clearly you guys aren't listening to those vernon reid solos.
Aww yeah. It's not Mellon Collie but it's so good!
good guitar tones, vocals are annoying
Silverfuck is awesome
Enjoyable trip down memory lane
Solid. Just heard a couple of those songs too many times
Mammoth alternative rock album. Dream pop sensibilities and that guitar sound......
Nice Music - rockig
Still great.
Billy C's just mostly annoying now, but goddamn he and the crew went hard in the early years. Some monster tracks, and Jimmy Chamberlain just drums real clean. Some of the later ones just sound like today redux's - which I guess is cool - classical? operatic?
Didn't finish the whole album but it's great so far is the 4 Star album for me
good. feels very grundgey.
The big hits from this album remain good and the other stuff I hadn't heard before is solid too. Corgan's vocals do grate at times when they veer into ultra whiny but generally I find them, and the album as a whole, to be very agreeable.
fun album
Best album ever!!
This was a solid album overall. Never really explored Smashing Pumpkins outside their hits; they're other songs are quality, but the hits are still the highlight. Favorite Track - Cherub Rock Least Favorite Track - Disarm ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A landmark in 90s alternative but there is something about Billy that holds me back from loving this like Nevermind or Ten. Some great tracks and Jimmy Chamberlain is an awesome drummer.
You hear the guitar and know you’re in for a treat. It’s my favourite part about the Smashing Pumpkins. That guitar tone is sooo yummy and their sound is incredible. Get out the big muff!!! This is a really good album.
Really liked this one. Love the vibes and the tone. Very melancholic but in a good way. Some music doesn't make me feel anything but this does. My favourites were Today, Soma, Geek U.S.A., and Mayonnaise. If I could I'd give this a 4.5. I didnt blown me away or affect me enough to be a 5 however. Out of the albums I haven't already listened to this has been my favourite so far. This gets a high 4.
Very nice Sorry i forgot to write a proper review but i like it a lot
Really big fan of this album's sound. I like the melancholic vibe I fw melancholic rock. I think I would listen to this again it feels like something I would've loved as a teenager so its a shame I've only discovered it now. I think Mayonnaise is my favourite but given a re-listen it might change
Uno de los mejores discos de los 90
Great Pumpkins album from Billy and guys
Made me flash back to sitting in my pot dealer friends place in '94 when he put this on and insisted I stay and listen to the whole thing.
Not me but super vibes
3,7/5
Used to not love The Smashing Pumpkins but I think I get it now — will re-listen.
Almost 5, but Billy Corgan is such a douche
Loved the blend of rock, especially the guitar, while still capturing a dreamy vibe. Felt like the album blended well while also having enough diversity to make it feel interesting
Another pumpkins album! This is turning out to be a really good album! A lot of the tracks are quite samey, but I’ve found I don’t really care because I’m enjoying them. Today was such a nice track, and I really enjoyed Disarm as well. The layout of Soma was very pretty. The slow into the more forceful instrumental at the end! Awesome. Geek USA was also a very cool track. I really liked the guitar in Mayonnaise. Spaceboy was quite good and I loved how forceful Silverfuck was, especially when it dropped out for a minute and then came back. Sweet sweet was a cute little interlude, and the closer, Luna, was so serine! I loved it. It was also super cute. 4/5 ⭐️ 102/1089
good
This is an awesome album. Soma and Mayonnaise are standout tracks. Billy Corgan had an awful childhood which I'm sure has shaped his abrasive personality. Regardless of past traumas, its still a personal decision to behave like an absolutely narcasistic twat. That said, he sure knows how to play a bunch of instruments and how to produce an album.
Consistent or samey? Either way, its a pretty solid album!
It's shame this isn't a double album which is 2 hours long and includes 1979
It couldn't have been a better first recommendation.
A little slow in the beginning but the back half of this album fucking rips. Every time I was caught in a headbang they brought me back with the feels. I woulda ran this into the GROUND back in middle school. Highlights: Geek USA, Spaceboy, Luna
there were some songs that really surprised me with how soft the sound was and i throughly enjoyed this album, getting to like a band i already listened to more
Their second album. Grunge / Alt Rock. Overall I like it, the distorted guitars, the drumming, the lyrics and melodies etc. Billy Corgan's vocals do grate on me after a while. An Alt Rock classic though.
Good. Listened at work
One of the best albums from the 90’s. 4.5/5
Time went by really quickly listening to it
somewhere in my heart, this is a perfect record. it certainly was when i was 15, and it has informed so much what i'm looking for in music. from mbv to Neurosis to Albert Ayler, i'm always looking for something with the dynamic range of Siamese Dream - its heart so firmly on its sleeve, the way it is either pummeling or floating, the totally fucking locked-in drums. but now i'm 28, and it's a bit too long, and the dumb-guy riffage on a lot of the back half isn't all that appealing. i also think it's easier to be embarrassed by this record given what Corgan's grown into - i try to not let that faze me, but it's not all that easy. the earnest sweetness still goes down easy for me, the angst not so much still, though. they put fuckin Today on this record! Mayonaise! motherfucking Cherub Rock! at it's best, there's little better. the guitar sound is as exacting as it is loud and smeary and wild, and when Corgan's anger is in check and the band is all rallying around that wall of noise, i couldn't be more thrilled. you could cut this down into a perfect record, but i think i would've bristled against losing some of the sprawl when i was a superfan, and i still would. the mess is part of the album, and it makes the peaks that much higher
Good album from a minor band.
it reminds me of growing up, sharing a bedroom wall with chris.
Qué albumzaso, locooo!!!!!! Espectacular
- i like whatever distortion/effect they have on the guitar at the beginning of cherub rock - all of the guitars are sick actually - acoustic on disarm is cool - the gerard way of it all - maybe i'll finally listen to mellon collie in full now - favorites: rocket, disarm, spaceboy - rating: 3.5/5
Another album where I prefer the songs that weren’t the ones played on the radio non-stop. 1 hour is a bit long for me but it is well done. Drumming hooked me.
Great album, never heard the full album before. I probably would've been obsessed if this had come out in my time. Hits, deep songs, changes of rhythm and very entertaining. Seems like it doesn't want to be categorized in a genre, just making music they feel, and it happens to be very good. You may say what you want about Billy, but this makes me separate the artist from the art and look at it as what it is, a great fucking album. We prayed for times like this. I'm keeping the 5 stars for something mind blowing, but it's a 4.5 really.
Classic 90s alternative.
c'etait cool
Awesome 😎
A good album but always felt too pop oriented for my taste. 4 stars and still worth listening too but not all time great even for the pumpkins.
I understand why this has become slightly elevated above mellon collie and the infinite sadness. It's a little more restrained, a little more consistent, a little rougher around the edges in a good way. Just a perfect blend of shoegaze ideas and grunge tone that perfectly encapsulates a slightly elevated 90s alternative Rock sound. That being said 90s alternative rock is a pretty boring genre of music, but I can't deny this album does rock.
Very good stuff! ★★★★
inlove
I loved this so much. I did not think I would be into the Smashing Pumpkins but this was the perfect album for a grey morning. It's interesting, haunting, beautiful, and complex. Not my usual cup of tea but I think I got it on the most optimal morning to listen to it.
Musicalmente una obra de arte. Según gustó personal rock un poco pesado, no lo escucharía todos los dias pero si tengo ganas de rocksito sería buena opción.
Pretty cool man, definitely worth a listen!
I just love songs with an electric guitar man and the instrumental portions in this album slapped. Will definitely revisit. Goated asf.
Bill Burr sucks now
True story - this album is the only thing I ever stole in my life. I walked into a Walmart in Warrenton, Missouri, stuffed the CD down my pants and walked out. Was terrified for weeks the cops would come knocking on my door at any moment. Anyway, the album is pretty good. It's a lot slower than I remember, it's not really anywhere near other rock band songs at the time. It hits pretty hard with Cherub Rock, but never really gets to that level again. Even the slower songs are good, though, and I think they hold up really well. 3.5 stars.
Somewhere in the intersection of alt rock, heavy metal, and dream pop. America's answer to Swervedriver? Nostalgia wins here.
Such a brilliant album, which could easily rise to a 5 star rating upon re-listening. I listen to 'Today' quite often so I am surprised I had never reached for this album as a whole before, but I'm certainly glad that I was encouraged to today. Rating: 4.5.
This is the album that got me to like the Smashing Pumpkins. They still sounded original and fresh to me. There's some great songs on here.
Not my go to genre, but this slapped. Very dynamic across the album, his voice is super distinct, reminds me a little of Supertramp. Every song feels like it’s the end of the album with a huge build haha Fave songs: Cherub Rock, Hummer 4/5
I like Today and Disarm and cherubs rocks
Right up my alley, should have listened to more Smashing Pumpkins growing up it seems.
Goated for a reason, absolutely love this album. Influenced so many grunge albums and bands in the future, and Mayonnaise will always be an amazing song.
An album I have heard before but don't really remember. Thought I'd hate it, actually pretty great. From the time before Billy Corgan's voice got super-whiny, and most of the songs are very enjoyable. Could do with being a bit shorter. Probably a 3.5, so I'll give a generous 4.
guzel de suan basım agrıdı amk ya 4/10
Corgans voice is annoying to me after listening for a little bit, but it’s very solid album with a couple of really great songs.
Against all odds, I think I have become a Smashing Pumpkins fan. That was fun and creepy and weird and rocked really hard.
I really liked it! I give it a 8/10 I liked how it’d go from mellow to rockier music. I didn’t exactly really listen to the words per say because of what time in the morning it is and the fact I was doing other things but heavily mess with it
Good one
I used to dislike almost all 90's alt rock. But I think through this list I'm learning the fine line between the stuff I can't stand (R.E.M.) vs. the sounds that I actually enjoy (Smashing Pumpkins).
I had no real exposure to The Smashing Pumpkins prior to this (surprisingly). I'm a huge fan of shoegaze so this was an instant hit for me. There's a lot of angst here, but not as much as other grunge bands of the time. Cool guitar effects create a dreamy atmosphere that isn't always wine and roses, perhaps warm beer and ivy.
This album was a constant for me in the mid-90s. There are a lot of great songs - "Hummer" and "Mayonnaise" are standouts. But there is also some filler.
Classic and formative! Not as enamored as I think I used to be with some of the longer tracks, but lots of bangers.
I was very into the Smashing Pumpkins at one point, so I was intrigued to see what I thought a few years removed. I still enjoyed it, but probably dragged a bit this time. The start is great, with Cherub Rock, Today, and Disarm the highlights. But by the end, it’s dragging on, with songs overly long or repetitive style. A 40-45 minute version might have been closer to 5*.
If we only rate on guitar and drums, this is a 5/5. If we consider Billy Corgan’s singing and lyrics, less. Thank god his personality isn’t part of the rating.
Best smashing pumpkings album. Best songs: 1. Today 2. Spaceboy 3. Mayonaise
Day 206 For me, this doesn’t quite hit the heights of Melon Collie… but it’s not far behind, fantastic album. Highlights Cherub Rock Disarm Mayonnaise
Wow! I like this band but not listening to them as much as I wanted. Cherub rock is a heavy, dense rock with such a distorted guitar.
"Quiet" - min 2:03 Epic
Super album avec des sons deep Mais j’ai quand même un peu de mal avec certain son un peu trop saturé à mon goût
Really good alt music.
When Corgan isnt being super whiny, kind of rocks. And thankfully in this album he rocks more than he whines.
I dug this, even the noisy rock parts. Billy Corgan is very emo, but I don't think we were calling music emo yet. The Smashing Pumpkins were a band I never really got in to, it wasn't the kind of music I was listening to in the 90s. I always liked their radio and MTV hits, so I've been looking forward to properly diving in to their discography as an adult.
I was there, and yes...it was cool. This record still kinda rips. Are there any bands doing this these days? Today — what a song — still plucks at my forgotten heartstrings. It's kind of ... "clean" for grunge...? The drummer was ON. Great teen angst / nihilist music.
Надеюсь при записи альбома ни одна тыква не пострадала
cherub rock...
Classic
This is like the definitive alternative rock album of the 90s. A little bit grungey, a lit bit shoegazey. Perfectly encapsulates the scene. Favorite track: Disarm 4.5/5
Album #27, The Smashing Pumpkins, Siamese Dream ⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of my all-time favourite albums from my teens. Suitably so, as this is the band at their most angsty. I hadn’t listened to it front to back in a long time, only the odd track here and there, which I always enjoy. In my head, I held this in very high esteem. So it was revealing to go back to it. The good stuff: they’re a huge-sounding band. Smart alternative rock. Super dynamic. They earn the massive solos and instrumental breaks because they build in moments of quiet and beauty. You turn it up when it’s soft and get blasted when it explodes. It’s really well produced. Billy Corgan is really interesting because he gets away with complete and utter schmaltz. Take “Disarm”. He’s singing about being a little boy over all these fucking church bells and maudlin strings. On paper, I should be saying, “Fuck off, Billy. That’s bullshit.” But it somehow works. It’s genuinely moving. And I’ll be damned if “Spaceboy” isn’t still my favourite song on the album. However, that overwrought sensitivity doesn’t always land for me. “Mayonaise” is a fan favourite, but I find it cheesy. Very pre-emo, and emo isn’t really my thing. The reason it’s not a five anymore is the length. It drags. I wouldn’t call anything filler, but some tracks feel unnecessary. You don’t need “Rocket” when you have “Hummer”. You don’t need “Sweet Sweet” when you have “Luna”. It slows the momentum. You can already sense Corgan’s tendency toward excess and a future in rock operas. The arrangements can be a bit much. But they’re an intelligent band. “Soma” and even something as wild as “Silverfuck” are carefully constructed. So it’s a four now. I was surprised, and a bit disappointed, but I can’t give it five anymore. I still think it’s one of the most important albums of the 90s, and absolutely one of the 1001 you should hear. Still a massive fan. And yes, the bloat only gets worse from here with Mellon Collie and future releases. But that’s for another day!
Never made it through a full Smashing Pumpkins album, but it clicked this time!
Lekkere afwisselingen tussen de verschillende nummers. Wel veel van hetzelfde zware gitaargeluid, wat alleen in Cherub Rock en Mayonaisse wat duidelijker een onderschijdt krijgt
These guys sound like the 90s but also UNIQUE and GOOD??? Definitely an uphill battle against my biases. I like this more than Melon Collie on first listen. Highlights: "Cherub Rock", "Today", "Soma", "Silverfuck"
Kinda hard to listening at first Maybe because my mood at first
Handful of great 90s alt-rock songs. Rating this higher than Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness because it's shorter. 3.5/5. Raising to a 4.
One word: Mayonnaise
Song ratings in no particular order(DNF): Disarm- I love the natural phrasing of the guitar, it sets the rhythm from the start. Solid vocals. Was very surprised that it was rock/punk like. Love the percussion. Strings are amazing. Love the orchestral feel. I felt this piece in my soul. 5/5 Mayonnaise- a different vibe; more calming. Love the little guitar riffs. The electric guitar and percussion come in in the perfect way and shake up the vibe. Is very tasteful. Was able to keep the nice and interesting vibe throughout. Guitar solos are good. I love how it strips back the musical texture to just vocals and acoustic. I like vocals in this song better than last. Flow of song is great. 5/5 Quit- I found the start annoying. Drums saved it. Feels unique in a good way. Guitars pretty cool too. 4/5
really liked Soma and Mayonaise
liked the heavier stuff much more unsurprisingly!
The slow songs are the best on the album
Iconic album with a true 90s spirit
4.5⭐️/5 02.17.2026
This is awesome! Love the sound and I know people said the singers voice sounds whiny but I like what it adds to the music! Good stuff! Whiny is part of it and its not like it sounds bad, it makes the music unique. I had a good time with this one
все молодцы.
A really good album.
Normally not a Pumpkins fan, but I found most of the song here fun enough to listen to
Pretty good albulm a lot of songs sound the same though
Hard rock. Very cool. Not annoying at all.
I enjoyed this album a lot. Has a few songs that I did not realize were written by Smashing Pumpkins. I would go back and listen to this a lot. A solid grunge and rock album.
It took me a long time to warm up to Smashing Pumpkins, but I’d been meaning to spend some time with this one since picking out Cherub Rock as a favorite several years ago. I think there are several more great moments on this record — I particularly enjoyed Soma and Mayonaise. Some of the louder moments like Geek USA work less well. By the time Silverfuck was halfway over, I was feeling a little checked out and kinda surprised it wasn’t the final track. The highlights are great, and despite being a little overlong I liked the album and would probably try it again sometime.
Better than I remembered.
The sound of the '90s, yet so original and unique, Siamese Dream pulls influences from all over the zeitgeist but still manages to sound so much like The Smashing Pumpkins. 'Cherub Rock' is a fantastic opener with some of the best sounding guitars you'll hear on any album. 'Today' is a force of nature. Billy Corgan's voice connects with something guttural within - powerful and angelic.
Nice, grungey rock
dunno what happens at the end of this album but for like 40minutes its peak
This album sits fairly adjacent to the 90s alt-rock and grunge scene. Its very much an evolved version of what the Pixies did, or certainly building on the things that they started. With headphones on, I find it quite difficult to listen to. The songs are intentionally overlayered, creating a strange sense of closeness almost a claustrophobic feeling which I'm not sure I enjoy. On speakers in a room, however, the songs have a bit more space, making them easier to listen to. Brilliant album although I've always kept the Smashing Pumpkins at a bit of an arm's length, since Billy Corgan has always felt a bit like a pretentious prick, but I’ll probably chalk that up to just being an edgy, underground twenty-something. He seems to be pretty sound these days.
oohhhh yeeeeaaaahhhh
i tried to listen to this album in full and review it properly but i ended up just listening to Mayonaise 13 times in a row so i don’t have much to add to the discussion
Pretty cool
I thought it was pretty good, got a little bit meh at the end but overall pretty good
- smashing pumpkins on leezendary kyl, cherub rock upee biisi - hyviä saundeja on tällä levyllä, toimittelee - miks en oo aiemmin kuunnellu tätä levyä, nääkin biisit mitä on jääny kuulematta on hyywiä - albumitaide on kyl kans tosi kiva tästä tulee aina hyvä mieli
Like all Pumpkins albums it's both a well put together album and also bombastic and over stuffed
8.9/10 minus some of the vocals, a great rock album. I low-key wanted the album to end early bc it got a repetitive feeling. feels like a relic of 90s rock with all the guitar layers and drums highlights- cherub rock, quiet, Luna, soma, disarm, today, hummer
Me, listening and smiling politely
Some time last year Mellon Collie came up on the generator. I was dreading listening to it, partially because of its length but mainly due to my then dislike of Smashing Pumpkins. I'd always found Billy Corgan's voice irritating. After a few songs of that album I began to really get into it, and ended really enjoying it. My experience today was different, as I now had higher expectations. I knew I could tolerate those vocals, and I knew I liked their style of music. And I knew that this was half the length of MC. I am very happy to say that I enjoyed listening to Siamese Dream even more than Mellon Collie. The standouts for me were Today and Disarm, which were better on the album than they ever were as singles IMO, but also Soma and Luna. There were no songs I didn't like and I really got into the musicianship of the band too. This is a 4.5 album and I'll have to decide which way it goes.
I don't have anything insightful to add about this album. I was 24 when I blew my chance with an amazing woman but I she still dropped this gem onto me and I'm forever grateful.
Saved? ✅ Would listen again? ✅ Would recommend to anyone? 🤔 Would buy on Vinyl? ✅
tongiht and disarm go hard but not my fave
Better than melon collie. Never really listened to these guys growing up yet somehow it made me feel like middle and high school summers.
Great album
Very good stuff. Very nostalgic. All the feels. Love.
Their best album imo, banger.
This is a 4.5+ for me.
I love smashing pumpkins.
Not quite my thing, but still a very good album.
The kind of rock I enjoy, not too heavy, nice sound overall
Another solid Pumpkins album, probably helped by being picked so close to Mellon Collie. This just edges that as an album
I actually like this pretty well. Very vibey, very cool. slay
Probably a 3 and a half but the good songs are great
A fuzzy classic! ★★★★½
I'm ashamed that I haven't really listened to a lot of them but I they're definitely good.
Craig: good Courtney: excellent album. Good ebb and flow.
Smashing Pumpkins, Siamese Dream in particular, satisfy such a particular niche when it comes to Alt-Rock. Every now and then you just need something that draws lines through every adjacent genre, satisfying pop sensibilities, rock punch, dreamy atmospheres, and artful introspection. Siamese Dream is that record for me, bundling up all the things I love about alternative music into a single studio-length album. Does the album do everything perfectly? No, it has so major flaws, mostly that the worst tracks linger waaay longer than they should (ahem... Silverfuck). Billy Corgan is also not the most versatile vocalist; when a track can utilize him properly you get the masterpiece that is Mayonaise, but in other cases you get a weird whiny man who desperately needs to blow his nose. Criticism aside, the rest of this album is on another level, and I think a lot of that boils down to just how amazing the choruses are. Sure, the other sections of songs certainly contribute to the overall effect each song has, but the choruses on these tracks are absolutely mind-blowing. It's nearly impossible to not have Today stuck in your head for hours after hearing it. On top of being masterfully-written, the guitar tones turn great melodies into earth-shattering transitions into pure bliss. It's a shame more musicians (including Smashing Pumpkins themselves) haven't been able to capture the same magic of these perfectly noisy yet dreamy guitar tones that define this record in particular. As a whole I do think Siamese Dream deserves its place among the Alt-Rock greats. The atmosphere the record creates is unlike any other project, period. Such a beautifully warm and luscious sound that tickles your brain and makes you feel like you're floating while simultaneously banging your head. I couldn't tell you a single thing that Billy Corgan is singing, but the album's legacy transcends words and creates a language of its own.
Haven’t listened to the SP for a long, long time. And yeah this holds up. Enjoyable day trip to a past forgot I had, don’t think I need to live there. 4 Star all the same.
Really good, never listened to the album in it's entirety before and there are some really high highs. A whole hour of Corgan's vocals can start to grate
Better than I expected
Best-today 4/5 Why is it 2hr long??? Didn't have time to finish but a solid start to the album 😁
Classic 90s alt/grunge. I love Cherub Rock from Guitar Hero (lol). The rest of the album holds up and production sounds great. Interesting reading the backstory behind it, Corgan really is a piece of work. But you can't argue with the results.
Disarm on ihan hemmetin kova biisi.
I’m always sucked in by Cherub Rock as an opening track. And I still love their fuzzy guitar sound on lots of the songs like Rocket, Geek U.S.A. and Soma. If I never listened to Today or Disarm again, though, I’d be fine.
it was good background music, but it didn’t really stand out. i did like Greek USA and Mayonnaise
Best band imo of the big 4 1990's grunge/alt rock movement. Great album, can get a little bit "samey" at times, but nothing too negative for me to say besides that. 4.5/5
A definite classic, but doesn’t reach the full potential that smashing pumpkins will reach in mellon collie. Almost every song on here was a hit but the real star of the album for me was Silverfuck the over 8.5 minute long 11th track from this classic album
Conflicted about this one. Every song sounds pretty much the same to me, but that sound that they all emulate is sick. 3.5 stars, rounding up because I’m feeling nice today
you might think i wasn’t gonna like this… WRONG
This rocks. Jimmy Chamberlin goes off.
I went in with low expectations. I haven’t liked Smashing Pumpkins every time I’ve tried to listen to them. I was blown away at how much I enjoyed this album! The guitar parts specifically took me right back to my days of isolation.
Loved this. The distorted guitar paired with the soft but screamy vocals is a cool combo. Don't know why I haven't listened to more smashing pumpkins. Cherub Rock and Hummer were two of my faves - Today is also great.
Growing up, I remember disliking Billy Corgan's voice to the point that I pretty much wrote off all of The Smashing Pumpkins (except for Zero -- always loved that one). Over time that distaste has softened and, while I still don't love his voice, I think it holds a place as one of the more distinctive vocal styles of the 90s. Certainly, I no longer find it distracting enough to discount their entire discography. This album from their early catalog contains several of the mega-hits that permeated my youth. Opener Cherub Rock is fantastic in the lead off spot and is a certified jam. Today treads a line between grunge and shoegaze and has grown on me over the years. Disarm is probably my least favorite of these hits -- feels a bit pretentious to me with the bells and orchestral flourishes (eh). Outside of the hits, this album is very solid. Hummer is surprisingly jammy with some unexpectedly bright guitar through the outro. Soma is (appropriately) blissful in tone. Mayonaise has a delightfully grungy trudge to it -- sounds familiar. Silverfuck is another solid jammy sprawl. And closer Luna wraps around you like a warm sweater. For me this is in solid 4 territory.
This was a weird album with the changing back and forth between the heavy grungy songs and the slower songs. I never knew what was going to come next. I liked a lot of both types of songs, but disliked some of both as well. I have never really jived with the singers voice but the instrumentals are pretty sweet on this album. This is a 4 because I couldn't possibly give this album a 3, but it is a quite low 4
Cherub Rock, Today, and Disarm are huge classics for me. All the other songs are very solid. I listened to this on a walk so wasn't able to take many notes, but this is an insanely good 90's album.
Not my favorite album by them but it’s still dope
I did like it before
Yeah this space rock genre is great.
It's a classic
A classic for a reason
fajne podobało mi się
The whiniest voice of grunge... but somehow these songs work
The top songs off the album are pretty great, like "Today." "Disarm" has this driving strumming that gives it a sense of desperation and longing. The vocalist's semi-moaning style doesn't do it for me but the instrumentals are pretty epic.
Big Muff - the album! Huge riffs, huge songs, landmark vibes and a satisfying mix of earnest emotion and crunching grooves. Favourite tracks: Cherub Rock, Disarm, Mayonnaise, Spaceboy
Excellent stuff. My only gripe is that the quiet interludes go on too long.
4.5 - already knew I loved this album with my favourites including Luna, Hammer, and Disarm.
I'm already a fan of Smashing Pumpkins so this was a very easy listen for me. Not my fave by them but a great album none the less. Billy Morgan's voice is Wonderfull and has the right amount of tenderness to create depth. This album sounds like Halloween.
Better than Coldplay
classic grunge. Era defining with some stand-out tracks. some of the album does blend into one however.
loved lovedddd this. perfect at work listening. def the type of music i gravitate towards at my desk, grunge-y, rocky, but softish almost shoegaze-y at times i forgot to pick out favourite songs but that just means i’ll need to listen again!
Definitely going on the list of albums I'll listen to while working - strong interstitial songs, chill vibes, a lot to like
THE DRUMS AND GUITAR OPENER REALLY COOL On the track- Quiet same with Disarm I really like the guitar strumming I've never heard of the Smashing Pumpkins lowkey will listen to them more I love the variety in the songs tempos within the album If I could I would rate this 4.5 there's just some parts of the album its way too slow for me
i love smashing pumpkins
This was a good album for Today. It was Sweet Sweet.
Iconic
Man, I wish the smashing pumpkins worked for me just a little more. This is the their best album in my opinion and the singles are incredible. There’s just something not quite bang on about the album tracks. Thankfully shorter than Melancholy and the infinite sadness though
This is another band where I've never listen through a whole album before. I obviously knew a bunch of songs by them, and in fact I saw them at OSH this year, but I hadn't given them a proper listen. I really like this one, it's got a fun punky-rock vibe. I'll have to dedicate more time to their music!
Mi piace! I would like to return to this with my full attention.
The one I’ve been meaning to go back to the most from my pre-joining the group days. Great album! Sometimes 90s rock? alternative music? just sounds the best I already knew and loved Today and Disarm, but they are truly the heart of this album and I’d say easily some of the best songs of the 90s. Disarm is so beautiful and Billy Corgan’s voice (which in some contexts quite an acquired taste) captures the anguish of that song perfectly, and then those strings come in! A song I always want to listen to. Today I remember from seeing the video as a kid and loving that crazy painted ice cream van and thosr little melodies, but also its deceptive emotional heart (what was definitely not the greatest day of their lives). I thought the album as a whole a little long but there were lots of songs that I liked and would revisit (Hummer and Mayonaise off the top of my head). Assuming Melon Collie… might be on this list somewhere and looking forward to delving deeper into that
3,75 stars
I really liked this album. It is probably a 5 star album but I am tired today. Just so many good songs, even the songs I had never heard before rocked.
This one dragged a bit more than the last Pumpkins album I got in this list and that one was longer I believe. Still I’m finding myself surprised by how great the Pumpkins are. I always liked a few songs, but never dug into an album, just the greatest hits. There’s not a bad song on here even if it is a little bloated.
It's not Gish, but it's also not Sadness. The songs that hit still hit. This album may be the Zenith of 90s Alternative Music. It's not the best, but it's certainly a water shed.
Oh, man. With the exception of a few songs, I do not like Smashing Pumpkins. Whoever told Billy Corgan he had a good voice should be in jail. That said, I don’t feel as if I’ll be too biased, bc they’re a genre I like and I do try really, really hard to like their stuff because they’re a band who, on paper, I should love—I just can’t get past those vocals. I don’t even care much about someone having a good voice but man I can’t stand him. The opener, Cherub Rock, has an excellent first thirty seconds that immediately hook you in. When the vocals begin, they aren’t…horrible. If they stay this inoffensive for the rest of the album, it might be an enjoyable listen. The song does begin to get boring at times, but they always swoop in and salvage it with some fun drumming. The distorted ending gives it a little extra flair that makes the transition into Quieter feel natural. Whatever that effect is on Quieter is excellent—and so are the melody and drums. It’s a shame that Billy Corgan has begun to lean into his more reptilian vocals. Also that guitar solo is out of place—it just doesn’t fit naturally into the structure and style of the song. Then there’s Today, which is undeniably fantastic. The lyrical and melodic juxtaposition is executed extremely well, and you can certainly see a lot of how they influenced MCR with this song specifically—the lyrical styles are incredibly similar, though MCR’s is better in my opinion because they use better storytelling and imagery as well as less ego. Hummer has an excellent instrumental intro, moving in and out of distortion and giving the song plenty of time to build. However, Corgan’s vocals are particularly atrocious here. I picture his voice as an exponential graph and its inverse, the former showing what his voice should sound like to maximize the song’s impact, and the latter showing what his voice actually sounds like. It not only sounds demonic, but also like it’s constantly trying to reach an energy level it can’t quite get to. Why couldn’t he stick to playing guitar/drums/bass/this-guy-played-everything and leave the vocals to someone else? He’s obviously a talented musician and songwriter, but god, put down that mic. Ultimately, it doesn’t give me a reason to choose it over similar albums. Nevermind had better vocals and more energy. Even though I’d put Trent Reznor in a similar class as Billy Corgan in terms of how much they annoy me, NIN was much more groundbreaking than SM and has better vocals. Anything by Sonic Youth is more complex and experimental, and—again—better vocals. Same with MBV. But I digress. Disarm has a fantastic arrangement. It’s a beautiful and transcendent song marred by that one point where he goes “Oooh” with more voice cracks than a middle school boy. I greatly appreciate the Brave New World reference in Soma, as Brave New World is my favorite book. It also continues the soft sadness from the last song, making for a good transition into Geek USA—which I strongly believe is the best track on here. The riffs are fantastic. Then there’s Mayonnaise, which has an amazing riff. This one is generally regarded as one of their best songs and I have to agree. Silverf*ck is pretty awesome, the empty sounding part did last a bit too long, but it was saved with a great ending. Sweet Sweet was great—soft, short, and stripped of the MBV-style overload of the rest of the album. Then came Luna, which I was hesitant about because Sweet Sweet seemed like such a good way to close the album. But it really did work out quite well. It might’ve been one of my favorite songs on the album because it was the only song that sorta fit that god awful reptilian voice. This album really just makes me sad. The instrumentals and songwriting are so strong but then Billy McNugget Corgan had to ruin them by speaking Parsletongue. However, the instrumentals are so strong that I can kinda ignore how awful his voice is. Really, the vocals are my only critique of this album—alongside the fact that those noodling guitar bits/solos should’ve been cut because they didn’t fit whatsoever. I could give this album one star. I could give it five. I think I’ll give it four because that’s what I feel it objectively deserves in terms of how my rating system works. I’d recommend it if you’d enjoy hearing a snake hissing over a well-done mix of MBV and Nirvana. This album did make me like Smashing Pumpkins more, but it also made me more annoyed at those dang vocals. Recap: Favorite songs: Today, Disarm, Geek USA, Silverf*ck, Luna Least favorite songs: Quieter Comparisons: Loveless, Nevermind, Dirty, The Downward Spiral Rating: 4/5
veryyyy much enjoyed. depressing, cathartic, emotive.
Classic album that contains my favourite ever song, Disarm.
Solid album that I owned in high school and probably enjoyed more this time around. Good sounds, good energy, solid lyrics. A worthy listen for sure.
Amazing album with a variety of different sounds packed into one but all with a continuous sounds. Guitar solos are amazing in addition. Favourite song is 'Disarm'.
very good, and new! perfect for my school trip
Pretty good, I like it. Not the biggest fan of SP nor Billy Corgan’s voice but instrumentals is great.
It’s always been difficult getting into these guys 100%. I’ve never been a fan of what I like to call the overly produced distorted guitar sound that this album is flush with. Their big hits are hits, I’ll give them that. So what do I need to do to be unbiased? This is well produced Everything is heard though the vocals aren’t the clearest. I think the Infinite Sadness album had a better sound. I guess after really giving this a full listen, it’s not that bad at all. I mean, I never thought it was bad but I didn’t really care for it. I wouldn’t voluntarily listen again but that’s more me than the album. I do wish the guitar sounded different like in later albums. Choice cut: Disarm
I'd only even known "Bald Billy Smashing Pumpkins". This earlier work (with bonus hair!) way rocked harder than expected and made me smile politely throughout.
Great album
You can’t have the 90’s without Smashing Pumpkins.
Love her
Freue mich, wenns mal 90er Rock ist, der kein Britpop ist. Paar schöne Lieder dabei.
Fantastic no skip album
14/12/25 It surprised me that I didn't completely dislike this album. Spotify listeners: 13.5 million
Calms and floating
Oh wow haven’t listened in its entirety since the 90s I think. Damn.
yea this is pretty good, though the second half sags in comparison to the first half.
This is one of my development albums. I had a birthday where my friends gave me a bunch of tapes and this was one of them. It is the pinnacle of Smashing Pumpkins for me. I swear I listened to it so much I swear the tape wore out. Sure it was a used tape and who know how many time it was recorded over, but it died on me so I take the blame. It's a good album. I doesn't have the hits but damn it's good.
Classic 90s alternative, not far off from a 5
Another great album by the Pumpkins! It brings back memories of my youth
I really enjoyed listening to this. What excellent songwriting, instrumentation, performance and producing: both on the harder and the ballad travks. This is one of my partner's favorite bands, however I haven't given them a very serious listen and really enjoyed this start to finish.
It's very silly alt-pop-rock in many ways, but damn, it has a powerful guitar sound and great hits. Anyway, I appreciate it more than Nirvana.
This is one of those ’90s albums that stands the test of time and still hits hard. The drumming stands out right off the bat and throughout the entire album, pushing everything with this huge energy. On Cherub Rock it basically feels like a lead instrument. Even on the songs that slow down there’s still a driving force underneath. It’s well known that Billy Corgan was a controlling douche making this album, you can hear how much he obsessed over every layer. Not gonna lie, it paid off. It’s detailed and polished, but still raw and emotional. Just a super strong alternative record that’s held up really well over the years. 4.5 stars.
More than any album on the list thus far this is one you experience moreso than listen to. A true sonic journey with Billy's voice as our guide, the music punctuating his words on beautifully written songs.
Good as it ever was - Not a ton of fat!
Classic album from a classic 90s alternative band. Very enjoyable and easily repeatable. The Smashing Pumpkins really stood out considering the time that they released this album and what other alt-rock/grunge bands were making and, honestly, their music still stands out as unique today.
Great songs played by great musicians, what more could you ask for? A singer that doesn’t sound constipated? You’re asking way too much. 4/5
What a fantastic album. Loved it from start to finish with a lot of great creativity and strong production. I had never listened to them before really besides a few songs popping up here and there in random playlists, but will be coming back to this one. I think my one and only gripe is that it is just a little too long of the same songs. I think if it was a little short like 45 minutes I could justify the 5, but it is probably on the border.
classic. every song on here is solid. standout tracks: cherub rock, today, geek usa
Thanks to years of Brian’s music pop-quizzing, I know it’s Billy Corgan.
Loved it, would listen again
Warm overwhelming rollers and delicate alt rock berceuses. A high point for the Pumpkins 4.4
A great album from start to finish. I grew up with this one, and it still holds up—big guitars, big emotions, and a sound that’s instantly recognizable. Even after all these years, it’s an album I’m always happy to revisit.
I remember buying this at Manchester airport on the way to Greece for a holiday great album awesome sound at the time. even got the bartender in the hotel to play in in the bar a few times . takes me back
really good album. recognize the hits, learned some others I didn't know. a few I didn't like.
This was the most difficult album to review. Like lots of their songs but never actually listened to an album. But I've got friends who absolutely worship this album. I listened. I liked some of it they it didn't already know (Disarm is obviously glorious) but it didn't do much for me. So I listened again. And to the songs others lauded (Soma, Mayonnaise, Cherub Rock). It was fine. But... I don't know if it's the songs, production or what but it didn't do much for me. Problem is I'm about to put the Dead Kenneys into my catch all 3 category for stuff I didn't hate but didn't care that much for and I very much enjoyed this more than them so it seems unfair to put this there. The lowest 4 ever then.
11 years late but Disarm was my soundtrack of summer 2004. the best of times.
There are some incredible riffa on this album and he has a knack of writing vocal lines that really suit his voice. I absolutely loved it. I think I'd found their "mellon collie" album a bit hard to get into, but this one felt a lot more cohesive. I'm tempted to give it a 5, but I think it falls slightly short. It might get there with relistens.
Pre-weirdness Pumpkins. Bought this on CD when it first came out. Still sounds amazing.
Today Billy Corgan is not bald but tomorrow will be much too bald. 8/10
307/1089 - Amazing guitar tone, grating vocals, decent songs.
Not bad
Heard it. good. disarm you with smile.
Has a lot of GREAT tracks. Hit after hit for most of the album. I haven’t listened to some of the songs. “Cherub Rock” is very energetic and has a great buildup. Tracks 3-6 are a great lineup. “Today” is an ironic track that I related to, “Hummer” sounds like a Jane’s Addiction song like from Ritual De Lo Habitual and “Drown” from a couple years earlier, “Rocket” is a great track, and “Disarm” is a good break from the energetic performances of Corgan, Iha, Chamberlin, and Wretzky. “Mayonnaise” is a slow, but energetic track, and I know I listened to “Silverfuck” awhile back, but I don’t remember it that much. I will listen to the full album soon…
Only gets better towards the end, pretty boring and non-captivating, but ok quality. would’ve given this 3.5.
Æ vende tilbake til min sedvanlige: det hørtes ut som forventa og va aldeles ikke så verst, men æ høre neppe på det igjen.
Vibes: 4/5 Instruments: 4/5 Production: 3/5 Emotional Value: 3/5 Storytelling: 4/5 Stand Outs: Soma, Spaceboy Overall Rating: 3.6
I didn’t really take to the Pumpkins right away. My life was busy, and I was exploring other kinds of music at the time, anyway. But as the years passed, and the radio play endured, songs like “Today” and, especially, the essential “Disarm” seeped deep into my consciousness. Now I think that’s what 1993 and 1994 sounded like. The killer in me is the killer in you, y’know?
Very good rock music. Definitely didn't get bored
Not a lot of the tracks stood out that much to me but this was an enjoyable listen and there's a few songs I'll likely go back to later.
Fun and engaging! Nothing life-changing but all around a good listen.
This album for me somewhat defines the sound of the 90s. Disarm is the definite stand out but I really enjoyed listening to this again.
Wonderful album. Flows beautifully from epic anthemic tracks to softer moody ones. Beginning and ending tracks are superb.
I knew of the Smashing Pumpkins, and apparently I also knew at least three of their songs; three bangers, to be exact. For some reason I always thought they were older, but when I heard them I clearly heard that early 90s sound, with noisy guitar riffs. Not sure why I never listened more to them; this is definitely right up my alley. This album just feels like the early-90s; fuzzy guitars everywhere, that warm but slightly gritty sound, and vocals that are almost a little creepy. Everything flows so well, like it never really stops to breathe but somehow doesn’t feel overwhelming either – just wall after wall of sound, and it works. "Cherub Rock" and "Today" are obvious standouts, songs I knew before, and would definitely have been among the 25 songs that would fit on my MP3 player back in the day, if I'd known about them back then. "Disarm" is the third one I heard before, which is great too, but much less so. But one I didn't hear before, may be my favorite "Mayonaise" builds up much more nicely, creamy flavor, slowly drowning my fries - delicious, disgusting. This is a 4/5. But I said nothing negative, so why? I think it just lacks some of uniqueness that other bands of the era did have; Nirvana's human imperfection, Pearl Jams powerful vocals and great classic-rock base, just makes them feel more solid to me. This music just makes me feel a little sad, but perhaps I'm just sad that I slept on this one for so long.
Cherub rock best album opener ever? Guitars are huge and fuzzy but also weirdly contained and "neat" - it's not muddy at all. Billy Corgan vocals are one-of-a-kind and obviously iconic. Lead guitar often does a fun call-and-response or pairing with the vocals. Bells and strings in "Disarm"! Insane production quality. *Cherub rock, oh my god *Solo midway through "Quiet" *Hummer
Alt rock/grunge with a tinge of shoegaze, whats not to love. Mayonnaise is a classic turbo rager
Threw this one on while at the gym and it was a great pump inducer. Already knew a few of these songs but I just love the heavy Smashing Pumpkins sound. They have their own lil trademark and that's evident on all of the songs on this album. Great listen and excited for more
Absolutely Fantastic and so appropriate getting this right after Halloween. There will definitely be some Smashing Pumpkins of every kind!
i like melan collie and the infinite sadness, I just couldn't stand the 2 hour runtime. great album, just wasn't into it enough to warrant the gargantuan length. this is more of the same, just shorter and I like it a lot. good shit
‘Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness’ and ‘Siamese Dream’ are two albums I consider life changing and worthy of a list like this. Every song is a fucking kicker on this one. No skips, as the youth might say. Minus one star for Billy Corgan.
Really enjoyed this. Dense and guitar driven but still manages to weave melody into the songs.
It it weren't for Mellon Collie, this would probably be a 5. It definitely is one of the finest alt-rock albums ever, and it feels their sound is maturing here. I forgot that "Silverfuck" existed and that it rocks so hard, and thankfully this experience has reminded me. It's a 4.5 that I may revisit into a 5!
Genre: Alternative Rock Man, if I had been born maybe 10-15 years earlier I’d see this easily becoming one of my all-time favs. This is Smashing Pumpkins at their rockin’ best. Almost grunge-y, shoegaze-y at times, this is a great album that I’m sure in 1993 sounded about as fresh as anything could ever sound. It’s dated a bit, but the overall production and energy on this album is really great. Cherub Rock, Today, Mayonnaise, all absolute bangers, and the rest of the tracklist is pretty darn good, too. 4/5
8.15 - pretty solid. Nice and mellow but still rocky. Best were Disarm, Mayonaise, & Spaceboy (7.1). Worst were Cherub Rock and Quiet (7.1).
There are seasons in a person's life. Seasons where you deeply relate to lyrics about the world not understanding you, and seasons where that feels silly. Seasons where RIFFS have you pumping your fist, and seasons where you're looking for more subtlety. "Disarm" seasons and times for Geek U.S.A. Today, right now, 30 years after hearing this for the first time, it fucken RIPS. Hell yeah, brother. Riffs all day.
better than I remember. "today" just isn't it for me though
not as good as mellon collie but i like the hits more i think
Enjoyed this, some great tracks that will forever stand the test of tome
my introduction to smashing pumpkins
- Some great songs on here! The musicianship and songwriting are definitely there, imo. - I could use a bit less distortion and understand how people don’t love Billy Corgan’s voice, but it doesn’t really bother me (I don’t, like, love it, but I think it goes with the music). - The first half of the album is a lot better than the second half (except Quiet, which I find boring); after Disarm, I only really like Mayonaise and Sweet Sweet. Soma’s nice, but goes on too long. I’d rate the album higher if it was a lot shorter. - Corgan kind of seems like an ass, though.
This album shaped most of my teenage experience...
In this album Billy Corgan pours his troubles, whether they are childhood related ones, depression from wanting to be more popular. The album starts angry and ends up in a happy place, but I feel like after Silverfuck the album loses steam. 4/5 Big Muff intensifies
Fantastic album open to close
Rightly a classic of 90s rock. The band manages to draw some surprising melodiousness out of a wall of distorted guitars. Front loads the louder stuff, but the back half of this album has a bittersweet melancholy that I think really suits Corgan's vocals.
This seems to have settled into being the consensus pick for best SP and that’s a-ok with me. No one’s ever done teen angst quite like Billy. Way more play in my 90s middle school for this than any of their contemporaries. Those big muffs buzzing away all those fools who just don’t understand.
Good but not entirely my style. Favorites: disarm, rocket, spaceboy
Chaos fueled for perfection Cherub rock Today Disarm
Liked it
One of the best albums of the 90's
Great moody vibes. Another one where I knew twice as many songs as I expected from the song titles alone
Silverfuck silver fucks
I had already listened to many songs here. Some of them are some of the best i've ever listened to. I wasn't expecting to like this so much it's amazing. The guitar sound on this album is perfect and unmatched.
A very grunge-esque 90s alt rock album, Siamese Dream has one of the greatest guitar tones I have ever heard. Very fuzzy and distorted guitars with atmospheric elements. I personally enjoy Billy Corgan's voice quite a bit. While the songs are very same-y, I quite enjoy the entire album's sound enough to where every single song is quite a highlight. On this album they aren't so focused on songwriting as they were on their next album, Mellon Collie, and more just focused on the overall style and sound. This seems like a landmark in the 90s alt rock scene to me. Some parts kind of feel dreamy, sort of influenced by shoegaze in the way it builds an atmosphere with distortion yet it is more interesting than almost anything in the genre. My favorite song on this album is Mayonaise.
The highest 4 you can get without being a 5. There's just a bit too much filler. The killers really do kill though.
