loved lovedddd this. perfect at work listening. def the type of music i gravitate towards at my desk, grunge-y, rocky, but softish almost shoegaze-y at times i forgot to pick out favourite songs but that just means i’ll need to listen again!
Definitely going on the list of albums I'll listen to while working - strong interstitial songs, chill vibes, a lot to like
THE DRUMS AND GUITAR OPENER REALLY COOL On the track- Quiet same with Disarm I really like the guitar strumming I've never heard of the Smashing Pumpkins lowkey will listen to them more I love the variety in the songs tempos within the album If I could I would rate this 4.5 there's just some parts of the album its way too slow for me
i love smashing pumpkins
This was a good album for Today. It was Sweet Sweet.
Iconic
Man, I wish the smashing pumpkins worked for me just a little more. This is the their best album in my opinion and the singles are incredible. There’s just something not quite bang on about the album tracks. Thankfully shorter than Melancholy and the infinite sadness though
This is another band where I've never listen through a whole album before. I obviously knew a bunch of songs by them, and in fact I saw them at OSH this year, but I hadn't given them a proper listen. I really like this one, it's got a fun punky-rock vibe. I'll have to dedicate more time to their music!
Mi piace! I would like to return to this with my full attention.
The one I’ve been meaning to go back to the most from my pre-joining the group days. Great album! Sometimes 90s rock? alternative music? just sounds the best I already knew and loved Today and Disarm, but they are truly the heart of this album and I’d say easily some of the best songs of the 90s. Disarm is so beautiful and Billy Corgan’s voice (which in some contexts quite an acquired taste) captures the anguish of that song perfectly, and then those strings come in! A song I always want to listen to. Today I remember from seeing the video as a kid and loving that crazy painted ice cream van and thosr little melodies, but also its deceptive emotional heart (what was definitely not the greatest day of their lives). I thought the album as a whole a little long but there were lots of songs that I liked and would revisit (Hummer and Mayonaise off the top of my head). Assuming Melon Collie… might be on this list somewhere and looking forward to delving deeper into that
3,75 stars
I really liked this album. It is probably a 5 star album but I am tired today. Just so many good songs, even the songs I had never heard before rocked.
This one dragged a bit more than the last Pumpkins album I got in this list and that one was longer I believe. Still I’m finding myself surprised by how great the Pumpkins are. I always liked a few songs, but never dug into an album, just the greatest hits. There’s not a bad song on here even if it is a little bloated.
It's not Gish, but it's also not Sadness. The songs that hit still hit. This album may be the Zenith of 90s Alternative Music. It's not the best, but it's certainly a water shed.
Oh, man. With the exception of a few songs, I do not like Smashing Pumpkins. Whoever told Billy Corgan he had a good voice should be in jail. That said, I don’t feel as if I’ll be too biased, bc they’re a genre I like and I do try really, really hard to like their stuff because they’re a band who, on paper, I should love—I just can’t get past those vocals. I don’t even care much about someone having a good voice but man I can’t stand him. The opener, Cherub Rock, has an excellent first thirty seconds that immediately hook you in. When the vocals begin, they aren’t…horrible. If they stay this inoffensive for the rest of the album, it might be an enjoyable listen. The song does begin to get boring at times, but they always swoop in and salvage it with some fun drumming. The distorted ending gives it a little extra flair that makes the transition into Quieter feel natural. Whatever that effect is on Quieter is excellent—and so are the melody and drums. It’s a shame that Billy Corgan has begun to lean into his more reptilian vocals. Also that guitar solo is out of place—it just doesn’t fit naturally into the structure and style of the song. Then there’s Today, which is undeniably fantastic. The lyrical and melodic juxtaposition is executed extremely well, and you can certainly see a lot of how they influenced MCR with this song specifically—the lyrical styles are incredibly similar, though MCR’s is better in my opinion because they use better storytelling and imagery as well as less ego. Hummer has an excellent instrumental intro, moving in and out of distortion and giving the song plenty of time to build. However, Corgan’s vocals are particularly atrocious here. I picture his voice as an exponential graph and its inverse, the former showing what his voice should sound like to maximize the song’s impact, and the latter showing what his voice actually sounds like. It not only sounds demonic, but also like it’s constantly trying to reach an energy level it can’t quite get to. Why couldn’t he stick to playing guitar/drums/bass/this-guy-played-everything and leave the vocals to someone else? He’s obviously a talented musician and songwriter, but god, put down that mic. Ultimately, it doesn’t give me a reason to choose it over similar albums. Nevermind had better vocals and more energy. Even though I’d put Trent Reznor in a similar class as Billy Corgan in terms of how much they annoy me, NIN was much more groundbreaking than SM and has better vocals. Anything by Sonic Youth is more complex and experimental, and—again—better vocals. Same with MBV. But I digress. Disarm has a fantastic arrangement. It’s a beautiful and transcendent song marred by that one point where he goes “Oooh” with more voice cracks than a middle school boy. I greatly appreciate the Brave New World reference in Soma, as Brave New World is my favorite book. It also continues the soft sadness from the last song, making for a good transition into Geek USA—which I strongly believe is the best track on here. The riffs are fantastic. Then there’s Mayonnaise, which has an amazing riff. This one is generally regarded as one of their best songs and I have to agree. Silverf*ck is pretty awesome, the empty sounding part did last a bit too long, but it was saved with a great ending. Sweet Sweet was great—soft, short, and stripped of the MBV-style overload of the rest of the album. Then came Luna, which I was hesitant about because Sweet Sweet seemed like such a good way to close the album. But it really did work out quite well. It might’ve been one of my favorite songs on the album because it was the only song that sorta fit that god awful reptilian voice. This album really just makes me sad. The instrumentals and songwriting are so strong but then Billy McNugget Corgan had to ruin them by speaking Parsletongue. However, the instrumentals are so strong that I can kinda ignore how awful his voice is. Really, the vocals are my only critique of this album—alongside the fact that those noodling guitar bits/solos should’ve been cut because they didn’t fit whatsoever. I could give this album one star. I could give it five. I think I’ll give it four because that’s what I feel it objectively deserves in terms of how my rating system works. I’d recommend it if you’d enjoy hearing a snake hissing over a well-done mix of MBV and Nirvana. This album did make me like Smashing Pumpkins more, but it also made me more annoyed at those dang vocals. Recap: Favorite songs: Today, Disarm, Geek USA, Silverf*ck, Luna Least favorite songs: Quieter Comparisons: Loveless, Nevermind, Dirty, The Downward Spiral Rating: 4/5
veryyyy much enjoyed. depressing, cathartic, emotive.
Classic album that contains my favourite ever song, Disarm.
Solid album that I owned in high school and probably enjoyed more this time around. Good sounds, good energy, solid lyrics. A worthy listen for sure.
Amazing album with a variety of different sounds packed into one but all with a continuous sounds. Guitar solos are amazing in addition. Favourite song is 'Disarm'.
very good, and new! perfect for my school trip
Pretty good, I like it. Not the biggest fan of SP nor Billy Corgan’s voice but instrumentals is great.
It’s always been difficult getting into these guys 100%. I’ve never been a fan of what I like to call the overly produced distorted guitar sound that this album is flush with. Their big hits are hits, I’ll give them that. So what do I need to do to be unbiased? This is well produced Everything is heard though the vocals aren’t the clearest. I think the Infinite Sadness album had a better sound. I guess after really giving this a full listen, it’s not that bad at all. I mean, I never thought it was bad but I didn’t really care for it. I wouldn’t voluntarily listen again but that’s more me than the album. I do wish the guitar sounded different like in later albums. Choice cut: Disarm
I'd only even known "Bald Billy Smashing Pumpkins". This earlier work (with bonus hair!) way rocked harder than expected and made me smile politely throughout.
Great album
You can’t have the 90’s without Smashing Pumpkins.
Love her
Freue mich, wenns mal 90er Rock ist, der kein Britpop ist. Paar schöne Lieder dabei.
Fantastic no skip album
14/12/25 It surprised me that I didn't completely dislike this album. Spotify listeners: 13.5 million
Calms and floating
Oh wow haven’t listened in its entirety since the 90s I think. Damn.
yea this is pretty good, though the second half sags in comparison to the first half.
This is one of my development albums. I had a birthday where my friends gave me a bunch of tapes and this was one of them. It is the pinnacle of Smashing Pumpkins for me. I swear I listened to it so much I swear the tape wore out. Sure it was a used tape and who know how many time it was recorded over, but it died on me so I take the blame. It's a good album. I doesn't have the hits but damn it's good.
Classic 90s alternative, not far off from a 5
Another great album by the Pumpkins! It brings back memories of my youth
I really enjoyed listening to this. What excellent songwriting, instrumentation, performance and producing: both on the harder and the ballad travks. This is one of my partner's favorite bands, however I haven't given them a very serious listen and really enjoyed this start to finish.
It's very silly alt-pop-rock in many ways, but damn, it has a powerful guitar sound and great hits. Anyway, I appreciate it more than Nirvana.
This is one of those ’90s albums that stands the test of time and still hits hard. The drumming stands out right off the bat and throughout the entire album, pushing everything with this huge energy. On Cherub Rock it basically feels like a lead instrument. Even on the songs that slow down there’s still a driving force underneath. It’s well known that Billy Corgan was a controlling douche making this album, you can hear how much he obsessed over every layer. Not gonna lie, it paid off. It’s detailed and polished, but still raw and emotional. Just a super strong alternative record that’s held up really well over the years. 4.5 stars.
More than any album on the list thus far this is one you experience moreso than listen to. A true sonic journey with Billy's voice as our guide, the music punctuating his words on beautifully written songs.
Good as it ever was - Not a ton of fat!
Classic album from a classic 90s alternative band. Very enjoyable and easily repeatable. The Smashing Pumpkins really stood out considering the time that they released this album and what other alt-rock/grunge bands were making and, honestly, their music still stands out as unique today.
Great songs played by great musicians, what more could you ask for? A singer that doesn’t sound constipated? You’re asking way too much. 4/5
What a fantastic album. Loved it from start to finish with a lot of great creativity and strong production. I had never listened to them before really besides a few songs popping up here and there in random playlists, but will be coming back to this one. I think my one and only gripe is that it is just a little too long of the same songs. I think if it was a little short like 45 minutes I could justify the 5, but it is probably on the border.
classic. every song on here is solid. standout tracks: cherub rock, today, geek usa
Thanks to years of Brian’s music pop-quizzing, I know it’s Billy Corgan.
Loved it, would listen again
Warm overwhelming rollers and delicate alt rock berceuses. A high point for the Pumpkins 4.4
A great album from start to finish. I grew up with this one, and it still holds up—big guitars, big emotions, and a sound that’s instantly recognizable. Even after all these years, it’s an album I’m always happy to revisit.
I remember buying this at Manchester airport on the way to Greece for a holiday great album awesome sound at the time. even got the bartender in the hotel to play in in the bar a few times . takes me back
really good album. recognize the hits, learned some others I didn't know. a few I didn't like.
This was the most difficult album to review. Like lots of their songs but never actually listened to an album. But I've got friends who absolutely worship this album. I listened. I liked some of it they it didn't already know (Disarm is obviously glorious) but it didn't do much for me. So I listened again. And to the songs others lauded (Soma, Mayonnaise, Cherub Rock). It was fine. But... I don't know if it's the songs, production or what but it didn't do much for me. Problem is I'm about to put the Dead Kenneys into my catch all 3 category for stuff I didn't hate but didn't care that much for and I very much enjoyed this more than them so it seems unfair to put this there. The lowest 4 ever then.
11 years late but Disarm was my soundtrack of summer 2004. the best of times.
There are some incredible riffa on this album and he has a knack of writing vocal lines that really suit his voice. I absolutely loved it. I think I'd found their "mellon collie" album a bit hard to get into, but this one felt a lot more cohesive. I'm tempted to give it a 5, but I think it falls slightly short. It might get there with relistens.
Pre-weirdness Pumpkins. Bought this on CD when it first came out. Still sounds amazing.
Today Billy Corgan is not bald but tomorrow will be much too bald. 8/10
307/1089 - Amazing guitar tone, grating vocals, decent songs.
Not bad
Heard it. good. disarm you with smile.
Has a lot of GREAT tracks. Hit after hit for most of the album. I haven’t listened to some of the songs. “Cherub Rock” is very energetic and has a great buildup. Tracks 3-6 are a great lineup. “Today” is an ironic track that I related to, “Hummer” sounds like a Jane’s Addiction song like from Ritual De Lo Habitual and “Drown” from a couple years earlier, “Rocket” is a great track, and “Disarm” is a good break from the energetic performances of Corgan, Iha, Chamberlin, and Wretzky. “Mayonnaise” is a slow, but energetic track, and I know I listened to “Silverfuck” awhile back, but I don’t remember it that much. I will listen to the full album soon…
Only gets better towards the end, pretty boring and non-captivating, but ok quality. would’ve given this 3.5.
Æ vende tilbake til min sedvanlige: det hørtes ut som forventa og va aldeles ikke så verst, men æ høre neppe på det igjen.
Vibes: 4/5 Instruments: 4/5 Production: 3/5 Emotional Value: 3/5 Storytelling: 4/5 Stand Outs: Soma, Spaceboy Overall Rating: 3.6
I didn’t really take to the Pumpkins right away. My life was busy, and I was exploring other kinds of music at the time, anyway. But as the years passed, and the radio play endured, songs like “Today” and, especially, the essential “Disarm” seeped deep into my consciousness. Now I think that’s what 1993 and 1994 sounded like. The killer in me is the killer in you, y’know?
Very good rock music. Definitely didn't get bored
Not a lot of the tracks stood out that much to me but this was an enjoyable listen and there's a few songs I'll likely go back to later.
Fun and engaging! Nothing life-changing but all around a good listen.
This album for me somewhat defines the sound of the 90s. Disarm is the definite stand out but I really enjoyed listening to this again.
Wonderful album. Flows beautifully from epic anthemic tracks to softer moody ones. Beginning and ending tracks are superb.
I knew of the Smashing Pumpkins, and apparently I also knew at least three of their songs; three bangers, to be exact. For some reason I always thought they were older, but when I heard them I clearly heard that early 90s sound, with noisy guitar riffs. Not sure why I never listened more to them; this is definitely right up my alley. This album just feels like the early-90s; fuzzy guitars everywhere, that warm but slightly gritty sound, and vocals that are almost a little creepy. Everything flows so well, like it never really stops to breathe but somehow doesn’t feel overwhelming either – just wall after wall of sound, and it works. "Cherub Rock" and "Today" are obvious standouts, songs I knew before, and would definitely have been among the 25 songs that would fit on my MP3 player back in the day, if I'd known about them back then. "Disarm" is the third one I heard before, which is great too, but much less so. But one I didn't hear before, may be my favorite "Mayonaise" builds up much more nicely, creamy flavor, slowly drowning my fries - delicious, disgusting. This is a 4/5. But I said nothing negative, so why? I think it just lacks some of uniqueness that other bands of the era did have; Nirvana's human imperfection, Pearl Jams powerful vocals and great classic-rock base, just makes them feel more solid to me. This music just makes me feel a little sad, but perhaps I'm just sad that I slept on this one for so long.
Cherub rock best album opener ever? Guitars are huge and fuzzy but also weirdly contained and "neat" - it's not muddy at all. Billy Corgan vocals are one-of-a-kind and obviously iconic. Lead guitar often does a fun call-and-response or pairing with the vocals. Bells and strings in "Disarm"! Insane production quality. *Cherub rock, oh my god *Solo midway through "Quiet" *Hummer
Alt rock/grunge with a tinge of shoegaze, whats not to love. Mayonnaise is a classic turbo rager
Threw this one on while at the gym and it was a great pump inducer. Already knew a few of these songs but I just love the heavy Smashing Pumpkins sound. They have their own lil trademark and that's evident on all of the songs on this album. Great listen and excited for more
Absolutely Fantastic and so appropriate getting this right after Halloween. There will definitely be some Smashing Pumpkins of every kind!
i like melan collie and the infinite sadness, I just couldn't stand the 2 hour runtime. great album, just wasn't into it enough to warrant the gargantuan length. this is more of the same, just shorter and I like it a lot. good shit
‘Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness’ and ‘Siamese Dream’ are two albums I consider life changing and worthy of a list like this. Every song is a fucking kicker on this one. No skips, as the youth might say. Minus one star for Billy Corgan.
Really enjoyed this. Dense and guitar driven but still manages to weave melody into the songs.
It it weren't for Mellon Collie, this would probably be a 5. It definitely is one of the finest alt-rock albums ever, and it feels their sound is maturing here. I forgot that "Silverfuck" existed and that it rocks so hard, and thankfully this experience has reminded me. It's a 4.5 that I may revisit into a 5!
Genre: Alternative Rock Man, if I had been born maybe 10-15 years earlier I’d see this easily becoming one of my all-time favs. This is Smashing Pumpkins at their rockin’ best. Almost grunge-y, shoegaze-y at times, this is a great album that I’m sure in 1993 sounded about as fresh as anything could ever sound. It’s dated a bit, but the overall production and energy on this album is really great. Cherub Rock, Today, Mayonnaise, all absolute bangers, and the rest of the tracklist is pretty darn good, too. 4/5
8.15 - pretty solid. Nice and mellow but still rocky. Best were Disarm, Mayonaise, & Spaceboy (7.1). Worst were Cherub Rock and Quiet (7.1).
There are seasons in a person's life. Seasons where you deeply relate to lyrics about the world not understanding you, and seasons where that feels silly. Seasons where RIFFS have you pumping your fist, and seasons where you're looking for more subtlety. "Disarm" seasons and times for Geek U.S.A. Today, right now, 30 years after hearing this for the first time, it fucken RIPS. Hell yeah, brother. Riffs all day.
better than I remember. "today" just isn't it for me though
not as good as mellon collie but i like the hits more i think
Enjoyed this, some great tracks that will forever stand the test of tome
my introduction to smashing pumpkins
- Some great songs on here! The musicianship and songwriting are definitely there, imo. - I could use a bit less distortion and understand how people don’t love Billy Corgan’s voice, but it doesn’t really bother me (I don’t, like, love it, but I think it goes with the music). - The first half of the album is a lot better than the second half (except Quiet, which I find boring); after Disarm, I only really like Mayonaise and Sweet Sweet. Soma’s nice, but goes on too long. I’d rate the album higher if it was a lot shorter. - Corgan kind of seems like an ass, though.
This album shaped most of my teenage experience...
In this album Billy Corgan pours his troubles, whether they are childhood related ones, depression from wanting to be more popular. The album starts angry and ends up in a happy place, but I feel like after Silverfuck the album loses steam. 4/5 Big Muff intensifies
Fantastic album open to close
Rightly a classic of 90s rock. The band manages to draw some surprising melodiousness out of a wall of distorted guitars. Front loads the louder stuff, but the back half of this album has a bittersweet melancholy that I think really suits Corgan's vocals.
This seems to have settled into being the consensus pick for best SP and that’s a-ok with me. No one’s ever done teen angst quite like Billy. Way more play in my 90s middle school for this than any of their contemporaries. Those big muffs buzzing away all those fools who just don’t understand.
Good but not entirely my style. Favorites: disarm, rocket, spaceboy
Chaos fueled for perfection Cherub rock Today Disarm
Liked it
One of the best albums of the 90's
Great moody vibes. Another one where I knew twice as many songs as I expected from the song titles alone
Silverfuck silver fucks
I had already listened to many songs here. Some of them are some of the best i've ever listened to. I wasn't expecting to like this so much it's amazing. The guitar sound on this album is perfect and unmatched.
A very grunge-esque 90s alt rock album, Siamese Dream has one of the greatest guitar tones I have ever heard. Very fuzzy and distorted guitars with atmospheric elements. I personally enjoy Billy Corgan's voice quite a bit. While the songs are very same-y, I quite enjoy the entire album's sound enough to where every single song is quite a highlight. On this album they aren't so focused on songwriting as they were on their next album, Mellon Collie, and more just focused on the overall style and sound. This seems like a landmark in the 90s alt rock scene to me. Some parts kind of feel dreamy, sort of influenced by shoegaze in the way it builds an atmosphere with distortion yet it is more interesting than almost anything in the genre. My favorite song on this album is Mayonaise.
The highest 4 you can get without being a 5. There's just a bit too much filler. The killers really do kill though.
Loved it! Great band, great album. I like their unique tone, they're a band with character. Fav lyrics: Disarm Fav music: Cherub rock Fav song: Today
I knew a couple ones, never got the opportunity to hear this in full, so I appreciated it
I was expecting just another loud alternative rock album, but I was surprised by this album. There’s still a lot of guitar heavy songs, however there’s also a lot of different songs throughout. Some songs like Hummer and Soma start in one mood and transform and shift to another. Really solid listen.
Poignant with some great tunes
Good album have some of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs
Not perfect but great songs and epic from the era
Listened while studying but it was definitely good from what I heard. Very acoustic. Rock. Good calm rock music. I liked it, it's the type of stuff I'd listen to during a late night drive.
The best Pumpkins album. Helped me understand the hype. Alt rock classics on this one. Feels 90s in an incredible way.
legendealbum
This was a solid album! Very easy listening.
A nice album, some bits sounded like Bon Jovi a little bit, others were a lot heavier. Nothing stood out to me as amazing on a first listen but think if I went back I'd actually come around on quite a few of the songs.
Front heavy, last few songs start to drag, but super solid overall
was so 90s and edgy!
Good
Two of my favorite SMashing Pumpkins songs are on this album
Probably one of the tightest Smashing Pumpkins albums. While I don't think it has the highest highs, bar Today, it's definitely consistently great all throughout.
makes me think that 90s alt rock really was important and magical, if only for a little bit. deserves to be one of the 1001? yesss
4.5 stars Perhaps if I was there at the time I’d get it. I mean I was but I was like 3. I wasn’t aware of the smashing pumpkins until Adore came out, although I knew their songs from the radio. Anyway… This album is up my alley. Fuzzy distorted guitar is my jam. But it’s a little overlong. It’s a little much. I like it. I listened to it twice all the way through. But it starts to feel like a chore for that last quarter. That being said, instrumentally it’s brilliant. I never appreciated the drums in their music as much as I did listening to this, and I used to jam to “Cherub Rock” during a brief stint with drums in high school (I clearly didn’t do it justice). It’s a great record. But the length and bloatedness might keep me from repeating it as much as I otherwise would.
Great album, still holds up today.
As much as I love their big tracks I hadn't really listened to their albums. Very Radiohead-like quality to their music but heavier. I must admit it was really enjoyable.
Was only familiar with the singles. Great record.
1001 Albums Challenge (6/1001) 1. Cherub Rock (4/5) 2. Quiet (4/5) 3. Today (5/5) 4. Hummer (4/5) 5. Rocket (4/5) 6. Disarm (5/5) 7. Soma (4/5) 8. Geek U.S.A. (5/5) 9. Mayonnaise (4/5) 10. Spaceboy (4/5) 11. Silverfuck (5/5) 12. Sweet Sweet (5/5) 13. Luna (5/5) Total (4/5)
I really liked this!
Alle sangene høres like ut, men er jo noen kule også. Throwback til Guitar Hero 3
Yea love it Screams 90s comfort in anger. I need to actually go though the album and better understand.
I liked most of it
4 out of 5 This was epic when it came out. Pumpkins were so different from all the grunge that was out there. Edgier and sharper - classic 90s angst captured well.
Enjoyed it a lot as an album but none of the individual tracks stood out to me that much. Don’t know if I was just not in the right mood, cos it sounded like my sort of thing. Will probably come back to this because I did enjoy and felt like I wasn’t giving it the best chance. Fav song: Disarm Least fav: Hummer
Really liked some of these sounds but the whole album was a tad samey. Billy corrigan has a great distinctive voice and also a great joke on the Simpsons Specific rating- 4.2 Fav song- today Least fav- disarm
Pretty good.
Great album
80
I really like the Smashing Pumpkins. This isn’t my favorite album of theirs though. I love the song Today, and I really like the songs Cherub Rock and Disarm.
Wow very good album I will listen to it in the future for sure
This is the 14th album i've listen to. I really like this type of music I think this album is great, like all around great. Nothing completely extradoinary in my opinion that carries the album i just think the entire thing is great. 85/100
There's something special about guitars that go Wraagh Rooaw! Solid project, but his voice can get a bit annoying at times. Best song: Mayonaise Worst song: Silverfuck Cover check: Nostalgic and innocence. The cover doesn’t look like the music, but it feels like it
I got this CD when it came out and always loved it. A lot of their shit I can take or leave but this is definitely an amazing record
gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber eigentlich OK. eher pompöse arrangements.
It is probably more a matter of taste that sees this not quite a 5 for me. I can’t quite fault it and I think it’s a great album, but it didn’t grab me in the same way that other 5s did. It is however, effortlessly cool, full of excellent guitar and has a distinctive sound it remains true to throughout. The potential lack of variety can be excused through just how good each track is. I just don’t have the same visceral reaction as I have had for other 5s maybe.
Great album and listen. What a time period in history!
Not as good as Christina Aguilera's classic debut album, featuring "Genie in a Bottle". ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was really excited to see this album and to listen to it for the first time. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Many of the songs sounded very similar. Personal enjoyment: 4/5 Relevance to this list: 5/5
Siamese Dream is an amazing record. Probably their best. Only couple of filler and a lot of killer.
the millennial’s classic rock
I knew most of the more popular songs, but enjoyed the ones I didn’t know as well! The slower, chiller songs were my favorites (sweet sweet was great)
It's hard to separate nostalgia from preference here, but both Today and Cherub Rock are deeply rooted in the psyche. Good album and I could for sure see myself going back to it.
Solid!
Siamese Dream was released between my first and second year at the University of Kansas. Though, I do not think I was aware of Smashing Pumpkins until watching the Today video. At that time, my alt rock allegiance was with Nirvana. In Utero came out the week after Today was released as a single. Apart from that, I was listening to a lot of Bob Dylan and Velvet Underground and being depressed. So that's where my mind was at, but this album would have been right up my alley. I did buy Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness when it came out (spoilers: it's a 4 too), but this is the first time listening to this album in its entirety. I had only heard the singles before. I have always liked Today and I was reminded how much I like Disarm. I suppose Billy Corgan's singing voice has been something of an acquired taste. But I give him the benefit of the doubt for coming out of Chicago at the same time my mom lived there and for citing The Cure as an influence. Hell, the Pumpkins even covered Syd Barrett. They, and this album, are fine by me.
so, to kick this review off, i was initially listening to the 2011 remastered version of this album on spotify. i got through the first two songs - okay, right, this is the smashing pumpkins - but then i get to "today." the one smashing pumpkins song i know (because i played rock band 2 as a youngin), and i'm flabbergasted. why does this sound like DOO DOO?? did i hallucinate that "today" was a good song?? corgan's vocals sounded distant, the guitars nonexistent, and the drums were WEIRD. switched to youtube music and it sounded more like how i remembered it (like, good????). i don't know what's up with the mixing, but i'm glad i switched because otherwise these tracks were seriously lacking and were not being done justice. anyway, on to why this is a 1 (jk) - i don't care for crogans vocals. like, really really don't care for them. IN SPITE OF THAT, this album rocks. hard to say yet if i like this or i REALLY like this, but this album is sitting at a 3.5 so we can round up to 4. highlights - cherub rock, today, hummer, silverfuck, sweet sweet
Powerful album, I love Billy Corgan's voice, maybe a tad too long? 89/100
Great
This was good, definitely enjoyed. (4/5)
Certainly a strong album from Billy Corgan, where he expanded on the ideas from his debut, but his best work was still ahead.
Couldn't stand these guys at the time but they grew on me over the years. Still don't love but this gets a 3.5 rounding up
This one held up really well. Just a great album. The composition, instrumentation, and lyrics are all on point. I know a lot of folks hate on Corgan's voice but it's never bothered me and it matches the lyrics and feel of these songs so well. Just really great. 4.5⭐️
I managed to bypass The Smashing Pumpkins throughout my formative years. They were there the whole time, but I did not prefer the sound of the lead singer's voice, Billy Corgan. Giving this album a chance, after all these decades, granted me an opportunity I didn't realize I needed. After the close of the album, there were 5 total tracks that I considered remarkable. Hummer, an early track on the record, was the first song on this album that gave me pause. The patience they show in building a song shines through. Trancelike guitar riffs into a pop rock banger that migrates over to metal and jazz. Immediately following is Rocket, a single that felt like the perfect call to rock after Hummer. That transition is very well done. After a few tracks in that alt-rock era, we hit Geek U.S.A. Great rock and metal clash on this track. The next track, Mayonnaise, is their best slow rock jam on the album imo. And leading into Spaceboy was a solid transition. The last track that grabbed my attention was Silverf***. Rock intro into the melody on the lead guitar, and then a drum solo in a conga style is cool. Makes the hits into the chorus hit harder. Overall solid album, had a blast listening to it. Will definitely add to my list of keepers.
Bello
jeugdsentiment... maar toch met enkele stinkers
For about a year Siamese Dream was EVERYWHERE. The video for Today was on regular repeat on MTV and was getting ever increasing play on a more and more radio stations. Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm and Rocket stand out but for me The Smashing Pumpkins songs start to sound the same after awhile.
Most of the time, alt-rock of the '90s-00s makes me space out. I blame growing up with this sound constantly around. Now, unless I concentrate hard on what I'm hearing, it all blends into the background. For whatever reason, Smashing Pumpkins were never quite popular in my friend circle; I couldn't even recall if I'd heard them until the *1001* project recommended Mellon Collie to me. And yet, Siamese Dream sounds about like everything else I remember from those years (or, probably, it's the other way around). So, this is my second try with the band, and I'm happy to say that, unlike Mellon Collie, I don't hate the vocals here. Corgan's delivery is very different (and much less painful). Too bad it's an earlier album. The reason I can't help but focus on the vocals and lyrics even more than usual is that the music itself is so familiar, it needs an extra "umph" factor to leave a deep impression. The tracklist could do without a few fillers but has a good flow. Closer to the end, the songs start to sound a bit samey. 15-year-old me would have dug this.
Open my ears to the world of Alternative rock. Loved this album, even though my mom would not let me buy it when I was a kid.
bem rockzao, mas interessante. tem músicas muito boas! silverfuck é ótima
I understand if you can't stand Billy Corgan's voice. But it fits so well with the music. This is a pretty damn good album with some all-time classics and no bad songs.
Brilliant album
For anyone who grew up in the 90s, this album sounds like the generic soundtrack of the decade. It’s been imitated so many times that its originality has now been diluted in the giant pool of pop-rock ; but in the mid-90s, every band tried to sound like Smashing Pumpkins (or like Nirvana), and every wannabe singer tried to emulate Corgan’s very peculiar vocal style. The whining voice and the distorted riffs have been done a zillion times by now, but Smashing Pumpkins were indeed the ones to start the trend (or at least introduce it to the mainstream – I still think they sound like a more presentable, radio-friendly version of Sonic Youth). Anyway, it’s hard not to acknowledge that this is a solid rock album with a few fantastic tracks (like Disarm or Soma), and that it had a great impact on its time, However, I’m still not a fan of the lead singer’s whiny voice. It annoyed me back then, and it still annoys me now. I had a hard time listening to the entire album without pause - I’m probably too old to ingest such a huge portion of raw teenage angst in one serving. After a while all tracks just start to sound the same, with the same gimmicks and the same tortured tremolos. I'll still give it a 4* for creativity and influence, and I totally understand people who worshiped this album back in the days. But let’s be honest, I probably won’t listen to it again ; it feels like travelling back in time, it’s fun, but the emotion just isn’t there for me.
Influential record at the time. I still dig the gigantic guitar sound and the propelling drums, but not the vocals... Memories: this cassette tape was playing in the car going to the high school checking our grade for the college
Definitely not my first time hearing it, and not my favorite of one of my favorites genres Sad White Men With Weird Voices Who Sound Like They Need A Friend, but overall a solid 90s alt album. The softer songs are much weaker compared to the heavier ones.
4.5 stars. Breakthrough alt rock record, nice blend of grunge and mainstream. Leadoff "Cherub Rock" with it's intro riff is an all-timer. Other hits are great too ("Today", "Disarm") with "Silverfuck" being the other standout. Other than "Hummer" and "Mayonnaise" the rest is a bit meh which knocks the rating down a little for me.
It feels good to give an high score again. I’ve always had a soft spot for The Smashing Pumpkins — shoutout to Jelli Radio for the consistent airtime — and this was the perfect album to get over the weekend. I’m bias to their biggest hits on this that I’ve known for a long time, but there aren’t really any skips here. Favorite tracks: - Cherub Rock - Today - Disarm - Mayonaise
A very solid album from note one. A brilliant follow-up to ‘Gish’, this was actually my proper introduction to the band, largely on the strength of ‘Today,’ and from there I spent endless hours delving into the various musical and lyrical aspects of the different tracks. Excellent. stars.
This is a great album, top to bottom. You can really see the shell of the stuff that came later here, but on this album everything is much more raw and without the polish of the later stuff. It’s a good thing, feels young and reckless.
I love this album so much! You can rock out to some tracks (Cherub Rock, Disarm) and relax to others (Soma, Mayonaise). I like that the Smashing Pumpkins' sound is so different from anyone else's, too. Several of these songs were popular, mainstream hits, and I find myself smiling and turning up the radio when they come on even now, many years after the album's release. Even if Billy Corrigan's voice or the whole band's style is not your thing, there's no denying that the Smashing Pumpkins made a big mark on 90s alternative for good reason.
Very very good, would vote 4.5 if possible. Not my favorite band, but always enjoy listening when I do.
Favorites: Today, Hummer, Disarm (Album Favorite), Luna Great album, though I think I like Melon Collie a little more. Disarm is such a great song, gives me tonight, tonight vibes. [4 Stars]
Good album. Cherub Rock is still their best song and they come out of hte gate strong with it.
Confession : as a kid, Billy Corgan’s nasally whine and messiah complex sent me running. Adult me? Eating my hat. The guy was hurting, and Siamese Dream is a howl through the static — suicidal depression and all. Butch Vig’s fingerprints are all over it (Nevermind says hi), and Jimmy Chamberlin’s drumming? Like a jazz-trained war machine on a heroin timer. Songs! Songs! Songs! ‘Today’ is the sunniest song about feeling like ending it all you’ll ever hear, ‘Disarm’ is a gut-punch wrapped in strings, and ‘Mayonaise’? 🤌🏻 This album is guitars on guitars on guitars — shimmering, suffocating, sweet and searing all at once. “The next Nirvana,” they said. Nah. This was its own monster: ornate, ambitious, and still capable of levelling you 30 years later.
pretty good. reminds me of deftones if they were less horny and sounded more nasally. solid instrumentals, not a big fan of how repetitive the vocals were. “today” is popular but like it’s good so. no other standouts. would still probably rate 4/5.
4/5
Would/will Listen again 28/07/2025
Esta guay, pero totes les cançons son bastant semblants. hauria d'escoltarles sueltes per gaudir-les més individualment.
Bättre än jag mindes! Toppenskiva faktiskt
Tufft!
J - 4/5 Best Track - "Today" F - 3/5
Great album!
Bosh
The good songs are great. The others fairly forgettable. The pumpkins sound is unique though.
Saved 4 songs to playlists. Enjoyed the melodic nature of several songs. Billy Corgan's voice didn't bug me like I thought it would.
aw man i kinda really liked that…it’s NAWT GOOD but i liked it anyway. embarrassing. it’s strange because in my mind, smashing pumpkins of course occupy a prime spot in the annals of 1990s american alternative rock but more on the pavement/sonic youth side than the pearl jam side—that is to say, more sensitive (?), cooler (??), with more substance and aesthetic value. for some reason. but in reality they’re wayyy more aligned with that crappy hard grunge bullshit which i generally loathe, or at least their monotonous revving guitar sound is...and their lyrics aren't that good either. so i don't knowwwww. this album makes me feel like i’m in a teen TV show from the late 1990s—i swear i recognize every other song from a movie soundtrack somewhere in my subconscious. so actually maybe that’s why i like it. bro last night (listening to siamese dream for my 1001 albums project alone in my room while eating pistachios) was a movie… fav tracks: geek USA; mayonaise; luna
A classic even on its release, sounding unique among its contemporaries
This album was the trebuchet that smashed all the pumpkins.
Loved it
Listened in the truck via YouTube music. I definitely didn’t pay attention as much as I should but all of the songs I’ve heard before and half of them are classics that are played all the time. It’s a great album.
This is my favorite smashing pumpkins album. It is the essence of 90s music.
The album has a few of their classics on it- Disarm, Today, Cherub rock. Hummer and Soma are also really great. The album just sorta creeps up on you then clobbers you over the head. Probably enjoyed this album more than I expected.
The instruments are all spectacular but the Billy's voice is really can't stand
Solid 4. I hadn’t intentionally listened to much Smashing Pumpkins before this and liked it a lot more than I anticipated.
My two ton twin pumpkins bouncing around dreamily
Favorites: Cherub Rock; Today, Luna (+) (Need to listen to disc 2) 4/5 (?)
Highlight Song/s: Today, Rocket and Soma This album is sweet mix of alternative rock, grunge and shoegaze. Some good riffs (such as Cherub Rock) and some pretty cool sounding melody parts (Today, Rocket.) What I love the most about the album is that constant noise coming from the rhythm guitar. Some things I like from some of the songs: That rhythm guitar in 'Today' is just amazing, I love that chugging sound. I am a fan of the shoegaze elements on 'Hummer' I thought that false ending in 'Rocket' was pretty cool where the wall of guitars faded out it sounded like a goddamn orchestra, then it actually ends and it ended up sounding like it once again. I liked that sweet sounding interlude-like track 'Sweet Sweet'.
Det er et rigtig godt album som lyder af nostalgi. Det klikker dog ikke helt for mig i denne omgang.
8.5/10
Individually a lot of songs are amazing, although when listening to the entire album his voice gets a bit jarring. 3.75/5 for the entire album as a whole 4.25/5 if you were to just listen to one song at a time
listened to again its a classic
I never really gave the Pumpkins much of a chance, but this is another fine record. The front half is better than the second but overall it’s really good.
some very iconic songs with others being about average
A solid 90s album. I used to listen to Mayonaise on repeat as a kid. Great lyrics, overall. Guessing people either love or hate Billy Corgan’s voice. I’m in the love camp
Today is the best and Disarm is amazing as well. The rest was pretty good. All in all a very fun album.
Lots of great songs with catchy riffs and melodies. A tad overlong and a bit whiny vocally, but generally this is well done grunge. 4.0/5.0: Great
overall pretty enjoyable. theres a few really great tracks on here but for the most part everything kind of blended together which started to get repetitive toward the end of the runtime.
Really really good Far too long Disarm is incredibly good 4 maybe
I'm impressed by how cinematic this album is. Obviously I've heard all the singles (and probably more) over the years, but this is the first time I've sat with the whole thing. And considering the musical landscape of 1993, I can't help but be even more impressed. Certainly compared to Nirvana's In Utero (also 1993), this record is going a completely different direction. Where Nirvana doubled down on their bread&butter grunge sound, The Smashing Pumpkins are leaning into a much more expansive sound. Listening back to Gish (1991), I can hear elements that hint at an enhanced grunge sound, but Siamese Dream moves that sound out of grunge's shadow. I’m not sure I need to revisit this whole album, but it’s certainly deepens my respect for the band.
This was super fun! really surprised that i liked it, i thought i didn’t mess with billy corgan’s voice but clearly i was mistaken! good fun and really strong songwriting
Already a fan of the smashing pumpkins. I think bill corgan's vocals were a unique and the group created some great alt rock. This was a good album to use as an intro to the band.
90s alt rock in a nutshell (not that I was there) I enjoyed this quite a lot, the only reason why I'm not rating this a 5 is down to the likelihood of me relistening to this entire album
Geek USA Today soma
Love this album. Probably my favourite Pumpkins album and have played it regularly since 93. The album is so intense and tortured, and Billy Corgan pours so much emotion into everything. The production on it is lush and the sounds are deep and fat. Absolutely adore this album.
Listens: Probably a dozen or more. Standout tracks: Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm, Spaceboy Added to Library: TRUE I have a controversial confession to make: While I enjoy the Smashing Pumpkins early work, especially certain tracks across their first 5 or so albums, my real enjoyment comes from their later works starting with Zeitgeist, Oceania (especially), Monuments To An Elegy, SHINY AND O SO BRIGHT, and Cyr. They have completely transformed from being a prolific 90s post/grunge band to a more mellowed out equally prolific (in my opinion) alternative rock band. I hope at least one of those albums comes up on the 1001 list, but I'd wager a bet it's more likely to be Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. With that out of the way, this album is great. Cherub Rock is a fucking amazing starter, and it really gets you in the mindset of of what you're about to listen to. There's also a good mix of hard rocker songs and ballads, well spaced out throughout the album to keep things from getting too monotonous. I can't give this a 5 since I prefer some of their other albums over this, but it still gets high marks. 4
Love it
This had me quietly rocking out. Something indefinable missing to rate as 5* Top track: Today
So close to a 5, well balanced album
There was a lot to enjoy in this record. While it was solid instrumentally, I didn't like the gritty vocals in the more upbeat tracks. The vocals did shine in the mellow tracks. Favourite Track(s): Today, Sweet Sweet Least Favourite Track(s): Mayonaise
Nice album.
Никогда особенно не слушал группу, но всегда была на слуху. Альбом классный. Обсудил бы его с тем, кого уже нет...
I never listened to the Pumpkins when I was a teenager. I missed out on this album. I really like it!
Many good songs, thoroughly enjoyed. May not listen to repeatedly though.
This album is spectacular, the best rock album in history. I'm enchanted by Billy Corgan's dreamy, nostalgic, transcendental voice. 4/5
Remember when you'd stay over at your girlfriend's house, because it was one of those share houses where there was always someone hanging around, and there were parties on the weekend, and the weekend used to go for 4 days, and while you were day drinking in the afternoon because you were waiting for the party to start, you'd wander over to the CD player (there were so many cool CDs) and you'd choose something to listen to while you were just sitting around chatting and staying to build a vibe. No one would complain if you put this album on. (Notice no one ever put Morrissey on?) I can put this on today and still no one complains. And, like many great albums, especially pre-streaming, a well sequenced album full of angst and relief, loud and quiet, light and shade. Bangers like Cherub Rock share the highlights reel with Disarm and Mayonnaise. I really forgot how much I liked this album, before Billy got too angst-ridden. Four stars.
I really like this. still hits just right and I like the deep nostalgia of it. not something I'll necessarily seek out but I like listening to it when I encounter it
If someone put a gun to my head and asked me to name my favourite Pumpkins album, I would blame Billy Corgan.
Great songwriting. Solid 90s grunge/glam sound. Vocals a bit grating throughout.
Throw back to middle school. Great album
Very cool album, angry songs and killer guitar Really like the lead singer too
they’re WHATing pumpkins?? 📸🤨
Ian and Anthony really knocked it out of the park with this one Fav track: Mayonnaise (maybe? loved most of them aside from Disarm which I was lukewarm on)
I liked it but also didn't?
Heard this one a bunch. 4.5/5
Very good
Just a really good rock album.
Never got super into the Smashing Pumpkins but I think this album really rocks!! A great listen, excited to listen to it more and familiarize myself with the grooves!
Really quite good! I've always been an SP fan
wait... this was extremely epic
Seine Stimme ist an Stellen echt nervig. Aber die Musik ist gut. Damit könnte man richtig warm werden. 3 1/2, weiß nicht, ob ich aufrunden soll. Ah komm. Ja.
First thought before listening: I don't really think about this band any more. Should it really be on the just? While listening: this is richer and fuller than I remembered, a fine example of 90s alt-rock. They deserve to be here.
Classic. Still love it. Been a while since I listened to it end to end. Not quite as perfect as I remember. Why can’t we give half stars? 4.5 would be ideal
I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn’t something this dynamic and engaging. Cool genre, almost sounds like a less fuzzy my bloody valentine
fuck yes.
Voto 4-
The songs I knew, I enjoyed. I don’t think I was missing much in the ones I didn’t.
shi solid once again
This was solid, very 90s, very smashing pumpkins. I only recognized the radio songs, but I enjoyed it more than I expected, knowing I wasn't a huge fan of his voice. Lots of songs feel big and I love the guitar tone. Mid 4's for me!
Classic 90’s album right here. Haven’t heard this one all the way through in years. Still holds up 4.5 ⭐️
I knew and liked a few Smashing Pumpkins songs before listening to this album, but listening to this one really helped me to appreciate them more. There was so much depth to this album. It was definitely overall a rock album with their characteristic guitar but there were also songs that had deeper instrumentation that was lovely. I learned this album is on the Rolling Stones top 500 and I can definitely see why.
In the context of 1993 Smashing Pumpkins were absolutely elite at crafting grunge music. So much so that Nirvana couldn't even follow up the dynamic vision of this album. Plum full with noise, angsty and HEAVY drums. I've always appreciated this album because my siblings are 90's kids and I'm a ought's kid so it was so easy to share this music with me. And though the relevancy of this album has died and more angsty and grunge exsists in other genres, this album is and was special for that time period.
I was starting to think this would be a difficult re-listen but once I got into the “hits” and settled in it was a pleasing experience.
Mostly for Disarm
A 90s alt-rock standard. Still holds up, IMO.
Strong 4.5
Dang. This is pretty good. I was never into this band in high school but I knew a couple people that were really into them. Legend has it SP played a show at a tiny club here in town a few days after this album’s release but before they became huge.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good. I remember when Smashing Pumpkins came through town a few months ago and I made no effort to see them. No regrets. As much as I like them and Green Day (Which is to say, I like them OK and they were big bands in my formative years), I don’t think I need to.
Been trying to put my finger on why I could never give Smash Pizkit a 5 and I've got it. It's the voice. Billy is always either drop dead boring, or sounds like he's squeezing out a big angsty poo. Bet you're not smiling politely now. Them drums do go hard as nails however.
7/10
Amazing stuff, I am consistently wowed by the ability to produce a sound that feels both heavy and light at the same time, while also maintaining an anchoring melody in what feels like a chaotic orchestration. I always feel elevated when they add strings to their songs as well. Their second album, finding their sound and style, they've released a few of my favorites here. Cherub rock, Mayonaise, Today Billy's voice was never perfectly beautiful, but it captures a raw emotion perfectly.
++: Cherub Rock, Hummer, Rocket, Soma, Geek U.S.A., Spaceboy, Silverfuck, Sweet Sweet, Luna +: Today, Mayonaise +-: Quiet, Disarm 7,9/10
Nice return. Always a pleasure!
Fornøyelig
ouhhh i already listened to this album!! but not fully i guess. cant wait to see if there are any hidden gems. my initial favs were mayonaise and luna. edit: i listened to some parts of it . so far i rlly like soma
might change to 5 in future. Very strong.
Was not familiar with the Pumpkins game, dudes rock pretty hard
Today, Hummer, Rocket, Disarm
Silverfuck is an amazing track. Love the vibe of the record
Fantastic album, and I'm not really a Smashing Pumpkins fan. Would've been 5 stars except for Disarm.
Cherub Rock // Quiet // Today // Mayonaise // Silverfuck //
this takes me back.
Smashing Pumpkins is another 90s alt/grunge band I really should have listened to prior to this. This was really solid stuff, I love the guitar throughout most of this album and Billy Corgan sounds great! I’ll also forever like the Smashing Pumpkins for the Simpsons moment where Homer meets Billy Corgan. “Hi Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins.” “Homer Simpson, smiling politely.”
Ok, I’m finally inspired to make it through all of Mellon collie and the infinite sadness. Lots of interesting sounds throughout, but still very cohesive as an album. Even tho I don’t think I ever heard this album as a kid, it feels nostalgic like something my dad definitely listened to.
5 minutes for your opening song is wild lol mostly I dig it, I like the combination of heavier instrumentals and soft vocals. the killer in me is the killer in you!!
I really enjoyed this album. Will be listening to more smashing pumpkins.
I mean what do you wnat from me?
Ganska bra, stundtals väldigt bra. Förtjänar fler lyssningar. Fyra
I was going to give this a blind 5 - objectivity out the window. But then I was like, no. I need to listen to this intentionally and critically. I think I'm at a 4.5. Side A is a 5 without at doubt, but I feel like the B side falls off a bit and lands me in the 4 range if I have to pick whole stars.
Pretty good. Heard these songs a million times on the radio, so it was nice to hear them in context.
Great album. Feels ahead of its time, and also simply better than a lot of the alt rock bands that copied this sound. Billy Corgan vocals are good (even if he sadly turned out to be kind of a jackass)
Back half of the album - starting with disarm - is where this really gets going for me. I like this album mostly because you can hear the beginnings of what you get in later albums like mellon collie
Cherub rock - my first intro to this one was guitar hero 3, lol I like the energy in the instrumentation, the songs have a lot of dynamic range and a lot of texture. I think this stands out above a lot of other rock bands from the 90's. Billy Corgan's vocals really aren't my jam though tbh I feel like they somehow picked the worst songs on the album to be singles Favorite tracks - Disarm, Silverfuck
really impressed by the whole album. seems like a really big influence on the indie scene of the 2000s
Good nostalgia listen, but Billy Corgan is still a giant asshole.
Classic
Good heavy metal album. Reminds me of Dirt because of the grunge influence. Pretty groovy. Favorites: Disarm, Today
Pretty good album Total unexpected as I was not a fan of smashing pumpkins before this album Really liked the riffs in some of the songs Honestly, I expected some shoegaze type feel but to me, this album is more of a rock/metal feel
Liker, litt repeterende
Genuinely surprised at the depth but it does sound a little too samey. Will need a few more plays.
Great rock album if that’s what the mood takes. First ten songs (bar one) are all great. A couple of tracks will be added to my playlist cherub rock, today (the best), hummer
Good 90s rock. Disarm and Today are classics. As always, the Pumpkins veer from aggression to dreamy. Love it.
Another album that i've listened to several times in the past. If you don't like the singer you're gonna have issues with this album. He's definitely an acquired taste. The songs Cherub Rock, Silverfuck and Geek USA are my faves, but i'm a rocker. The one off, mellow song that really stands out to me is Mayonaise.
Good listen
Faves: mayonnaise and Luna
Bien rock bien teenage movie 1990/2000 mais en même temps bien destroy /shoegaze. M'y bloody nirvana
