Not my favorite queen album but Freddy is still great

Killer Queen je z tama nejlepší no, Bring back Leroy brown je fajn, jinak to není od Queen to nejlepší album za mě A night at the Opera (kvůli Bohemian Rhapsody😅)možná The Game, ale i tak je queeni jsou spíš singlová záležitost, takový to, že znáte hodně skladeb od nich, ale album spíš ne...Stejně jako třeba u rolling stones

If I could give 4.5 stars I would. This is one of Queen's most underrated albums IMHO. Has some great tracks like Brighton Rock and Lily of the Valley. It was one of the first albums to show Queen's diverse sound.

Queen … you know, I’ve never really done a deep dive into Queen. I know all the hits (and there are so many of those it makes you feel you know Queen!) and I loved the “It’s A Kind Of Magic” album. Used to listen to that loads when it came out and still throw it on every so often today. Some Queen songs rank up their amongst my favourites… but I’ve only ever owned their Greatest Hits album and It’s A Kind of Magic… possibly the Flash Gordon soundtrack at somepoint too… probably heard some of the others round at friends houses though. Starts off so-so with a bit too much guitar twiddling in Brighton Rock but Killer Queen is a fantastic track. Tenement Funster is a good track but surprised me as it’s not how Queen sound like in my head. More Led Zep overtones than Queen. (Ah, because Roger Taylor is singing it) She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos) sung by Brian May is another of my favourites here… which makes me think I’m enjoying their less sounding non-Freddie Mercury “Queen” tracks over Freddies more “playing to type” tracks here (apart from Killer Queen which is really ace). Is it worth 4 stars because I really liked 3 tracks? Not sure. Guess I’ll find out in the morning when I rate it.

not my favorite queen album, but i love stone cold crazy

a full range of songs, some loud rock, pop, piano ballad. A journey through the minds of Queen.

Pretty decent album. Killer Queen, Brighton Rock, Now I’m Here, and Stone Cold Crazy go super hard. This album is the definition of “guitar rock.”

Insane instrumentation and production. The way the songs flow into each really pants a very clear picture and cinematic story. Everything is very intentional. Energy and intention. Great first listen.

My favorite Queen album. However, I've made peace with the thought that Queen was more of a singles-type band than an albums one. A handful of songs from this record really have that "filler" energy.

I believe this is the first Queen record I’ve listened to in its entirety outside of compilation albums, and I was pleasantly surprised by the consistency and layered thickness of the sound, which keeps building from the start and never quite loses momentum. It strikes a perfect balance between classic hard rock riffs, experimentation, and glam, while remaining an easy listen that never drags. The absolute standouts for me are the electrifying “Brighton Rock,” the rebellious anthem that is “Tenement Funster,” and the mysterious vulnerability presented in “In the Lap of the Gods.”. It is well worth a full listen.

Great listen

It’s amazing to see what a change Queen went through inside if the same year, from Queen II to this album. Clear to see that this is where they came into their own.

I had fun with this one. You can see the growth between this and their 2nd album.

Amongst the rest of Queen's discography, I wasn't familiar with this particular album, and it's a pretty solid listen! The band's sound is unmistakable, and "Killer Queen" remains the standout track, though other songs such as the opener "Brighton Rock", "Flick of the Wrist", and "Misfire" are great underappreciated tracks. This is an album I would have no problems revisiting later and listening all the way through!

bring back artists having fun while making good music! unfortunately though i do see how killer queen is the most famous of this album -- the other songs are good but just shy of being as good as

Having owned both Greates Hits albums by Queen, I'm ashamed to say that I've never listened to a full album of theirs. I wouldn't say that I'm the greatest fan of Queen, although I clearly enjoy the hits. Overall, I liked this album and will definitely revisit it again. The best track for me is "Now I'm Here", just a great rock song. "Killer Queen" is a classic of course and instantly recognisable as a song that is one of their most played. "Stone Cold Crazy" is one I know well as it's often credited as a big influence on Thrash Metal, a genre I love. "Tenement Funster" is the song that has had the biggest impact on me as I didn't know Roger Taylor had such a great voice, I mean I know he harmonises in a lot of songs, but this blew me away. It made me realise how talented these guys really are and I already knew they were talented. Don't get me wrong, he's no Freddie, but the man can sing. It made me feel a little guilty that I'd not given their albums a try before as I imagine that there are lots of gems to be unearthed amongst their extensive back catalogue. Overall I'd give it 8/10 will listen again. There are just some elements of Queen that mean I'm not always in the mood for them. It's just a little too upbeat and whimsical for me at times, that's why it's an 8.

ive been trying to get into queen more, and have only listened to their first album so far. im glad i got a chance to listen to this one. it was fun and upbeat. i love all the songs, especially flick of the wrist and killer queen

Absolute joy!

Freddie is niet te ontkennen. Ik dacht een heel Queen album wat veel te vinden maar ik ben blij verrast. 8/10

Colorful and powerful.

This is unironically better than most Black Sabbath albums (except Master of Reality.) I find Sabbath albums are a bit bland apart from a couple songs sadly, can't get too much into the hype of Sabbath. Early Queen albums on the other hand, where I thought they'd be bland apart from the singles. But 1001 albums has taught me they aren't! They have an amazing cohesive feel, Queen II more so (which was my first album in general and on this list.) The album songs have this mix of glam, heavy metal/hard rock, and prog rock, and piano-led rock mostly on the interludes. This one along with Queen II is a strong 4. Highlight Song/s: "Killer Queen", "Flick of the Wrist" and "Stone Cold Crazy"

Queen is tough to put in a genre I think. They're glam rock, but their vocals are more fitting pop and the band is rock. They're just their own thing with their rock and smooth harmonized vocals that no other rock band does. I think i've only heard Killer Queen and Now I'm Here, which of course are awesome songs, but Brighton Rock was great too. This is Queen's breakout album and they blew up from here. I think it's a strong album which has that Queen sound but missing....something...not sure what. Wasn't a fan of the swing song Bring Back That Leroy Brown, but whatever. It's a great album with some great songs that are probably underrated like She Makes Me.

You name your band Queen and you better show up with the bombast and swagger. They sure enough do just that. Really goes hard for the first half but kind of loses energy in the last couple songs.

In general, I don't really vibe with Queen … or so I thought? This was wonderful! I think I enjoyed this differently as a full album with a start and stop time, where I could throw myself into it, rather than a song that pops up here or there.

Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy and Tenement Funster drive this album to the finish line. Solid album.

Not my favourite Queen album but I still love Queen

Somehow I have gone through my life without hearing Killer Queen too much, so I still really enjoy the song and it is definitely my favourite on the album. The three following songs, Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist and Lily of the Valley are all standouts too. They have that theatrical sound that Queen does so well. In the Lap of the Gods (and the Revisited version at the end) is another cool tune. The rest of the songs don't stand out to me as much, though the musical skill is obvious.

Solid all the way through, fantastic within the first 5 songs. The way Tenement Fuster links through Flick of the Wrist into Lily of the Valley, is *chefs kiss*. Wish they continued that throughout the album instead of just with these 3 songs. Even though Killer Queen has been overplayed within my life span it still feels fresh and is enjoyable to listen to! Which I find is rare for overplayed rock songs. Each song I did find had its own flavour, however the vocals did not, by the end of the album I was honestly getting a bit tired of the voice effect that always seems to be on Freddies voice, paired with the background harmonies, sometimes I kind of just wished Freddie would sing solo, no voice effects, with changing up his emotional cadence a bit more. I think thats a trap Queen falls into across a lot of the music I've listened to thus far. Each song has a solid idea that differentiates it from the rest but they're pulled back a bit too close together with the operatic vocal patterns. The 2nd half is also not as strong as those first 5 killer songs. I overall enjoyed Night at The Opera more than this one. 8/10

Interesting incorporation of operatic styles in hard rock

it was a really good album. i only knew killer queen before listening to but i really like misfire and stone cold crazy.

I liked it a lot maybe not that much, but it was enjoyable.

I liked it

It's Queen! For me, not their best Album, but definitely 4 Stars!

Fun listen, one of the better Queen albums in my opinion.

Idk it was good. Maybe I should stop writing these cuz I'm not a very good music critic. Favorite Tracks: Killer Queen, Bring Back That Leroy Brown

Amazing

Favorite tracks - Brighton Rock - Killer Queen - Flick of the Wrist - Lily of the Valley - Now I'm Here - Stone Cold Crazy

Yesterday I got "Queen II" as the album of the day, and it's crazy to think about the differences on their sound from one album to the other. I was way more hooked on "Sheer Heart Attack" and loved to see the evolution. Nice!

Who knew they were good??

I’ve always said Freddie Mercury had the best voice in the biz. Queen is so showy and theatrical, but it really works for them. It never comes across as cheesy or forced. Their harmonies are incredible and their songs entertaining and super fun to listen to. Bring back that Leroy Brown was a hoot 😂

My mouth is dry, my legs are weak. You're giving me a heart attack-ack-ack. Saving all your money for a Cadillac-ac-ac-ac. What do Olivia Newton John, Billy Joel and Freddie Mercury have in common? I'll let you think about that for a bit. In the meantime, pop this vinyl masterpiece on your turntable or send the plastic ceedee into its mechanical drawer, drop the needle (or press the button), and suddenly it's 1975. Ingest your Captain Jack and prepare for the ride. I Honestly Love this. Put simply: it's Killer Queen. You're stone cold cray-cray if you don't think so too.

So many great tracks on this album: opening track "Brighton Rock" with it's lengthy guitar solo, the brilliant lyrics (and music) of "Killer Queen", plus the live favourite "Now I'm Here".

1 star alone for killer queen (4.5)

Fun album. Easy listening

Queen is like no other band from this era of rock. Dig in and enjoy!

Some really good heavy metal which I wasn't expecting. The musicians are on great early form here. The OTT vocals, operatic themes and bombastic production Queen use doesn't do anything for me but it's in the minority here.

Loved it!

I liked it quite a bit. A few gems, and interesting to see the development of the complex, layered songs.

fave song is dear friend. an objectively good and well-made album, however, I don’t think a lot of the songs I would listen to on the daily.

it's got killer queen on it araki loved this album

Good album, I'd rate it 7.5/10

wowwww so good

8/10 Octopus’s Garden and Bring Back That Leroy Brown are cut from the same cloth. Otherwise simply excellent, but dragged down by one bat-shit song.

liked it. lily of the valley

Catchy, campy, not quite as good as “A Night at the Opera”

Really enjoyed this one. Killer Queen was the only track I knew prior to my listen, but the album was joyous and engaging.

i’ve heard this before but i had to re-listen and it was even better

Sounds like a Darkness tribute bad to me….. Proof that Queen weren’t just great single writers but could also put to get her a compelling album. Brighton Rock and Stone Cold Crazy hint at their ability to play heavier rock and I’m sure they influenced metal bands to come (Metallica even covered the latter) but their (let’s be fair, Freddie’s) operatic theatrical side also comes through on this album. Proof that early Queen were great before the stadium filling rock to come in the next decade. And they all look superb on the album cover.

Enjoyable pre Bohemian Rhapsody Queen showing an interesting range of work, some of which is quite unlike what you would expect if you only know them as the mega stars. Lily of the Valley is a good example.

You can't go wrong with Queen. Great performances, great production, and great tunes.

Few decent songs ig

Love Queen but never heard this album before - it's great.

I was between 3 and 4 for this album. I think I’ll go four because there are some classic Queen tracks.

Nog nooit eerder een volledig album van Queen geluisterd. Dit was een erg leuk album. Killer Queen natuurlijk als topper

I don't love Queen but this was a great album in terms of musicianship and production quality

A rock album more solid than gold. 4/5

I see Queen, I like. It is that simple. Fave track: Killer Queen

So, that’s where Van Halen got their rock/showtunes approach

Aside from Killer Queen which feels a little out of place, this was quite good. Queen is clearly talented and when they bill themselves as a diet Black Sabbath the music is pretty good.

Pretty great, like I’ve discovered that so many queen albums are. This is great hard, loud, and yet incredibly full of feeling. The flow of the album is great, and it’s a full work as opposed to a mishmash of singles. Lyrically it’s not quite as good as the other queen albums we’ve had but I still liked it. Excellent.

I love the transition they're going through here from harder rock to something more palatable. Not that it was bad before, but Freddie's influence is finally starting to shine through here.

7.5/10

favourite - lily of the valley

Contains some of their last classic heavy metal level songs. A mix stylistically. Has two songs from their Greatest Hits in Killer Queen and Now I'm Here. Has a last song that you'll be singing for hours after, and is a sure fire guarantee to get an arena singing along to.

It's amazing how Queen always sounds like Queen while having so many different sounds.

1. Brighton Rock - Fun! Very elaborate instrumental breaks are not usually so much "my thing" so I preferred the first half with the singing, although the instrumental part had enough change-ups and interesting stuff to keep me engaged. 2. Killer Queen - Have heard before. Obviously an amazing track. The playful vocals are my favorite part. 3. Tenement Funster - Absolutely love the instrumental at the beginning. 4. Flick of the Wrist - Almost didn't catch the song changing. But this has very cool vibes. Maybe favorite so far..? Added to a playlist 5. Lily of the Valley - Again, the change between songs was so smooth (+ a lot of these songs have so much variation within them) that I almost didn't catch the change. Anyway, sounds very nice. 6. Now I'm Here - Maybe my favorite instrumental, can't really explain why though.. Feel this even stronger in the last half where it ramps up more. Another fun one. 7. In the lap of the gods - Now that's a start of a song that cannot be missed. So far (1st. min.) very different from the rest of the album, but I love the theatrical vibes. Reminiscent of Bohemian Rhapsody. Another fave contender. Except I liked the beginning more than the latter half that gets a bit repetetive. Except x2 the instrumental at the very end is vary fun to me. 8. Stone Cold Crazy - Admittedly the type of rock song that I don't usually enjoy *that much*. Still a nice song. 9. Dear Friends - A very different vibe from the last one. Though at least at the beginning not really my vibe either. Oh, a short one.. 10. Misfire - And again, for a very different vibe, much more upbeat now. Another short one, pretty fun but not that memorable. 11. Bring back that Leroy Brown - Okay, this is the type of unserious type of song that I enjoy quite a lot. Get's a bit repetitive. 12. She makes me - Really liking the sound of this at the beginning. While the sort of high energy rock music heavy on electric guitars and such is fun and impressive and what not, I can see myself listening to this on a more casual basis. Going into fave considerations and added to playlists. 13. In the lap of the gods... revisited - I don't have much to say about this, definitely has the vibes of an end of an album song. Overall thoughts: Very nice to finally listen to a Queen album all the way through. There's a very clear sense of cohesiveness (although some songs still stand out strongly) that I feel like is not that present in a lot of contemporary albums. It makes a nice album listening experience, but it is perhaps a bit harder to distinguish all songs from each other and pick out stand-outs. I think I'll settle on track 12 (she makes me) as my favorite. All in all, an enjoyable listening experience, but I feel like Queen will still remain the kind of band that I'll happily listen to when it's on, but don't go out of my way to seek it out or add to my rotation.

A few bangers as with every Queen album. The rest didn't particularly stand out, but it wasn't bad either because it was still Queen doing Queen stuff

W sumie bardzo fajne. Nie takie bombastic jak inna płyta, której słuchałem, ale dobry rock, którego można często słuchac. 4

Very solid rock record! Not my fav from them but still vibe. 3.5 for me

Slightly biased as Queen was played a bunch by my dad growing up. Not my top album from them, but still love it.

Some high highs. The lows aren't too low but there aren't many highs.

Overall pretty solid 4 star album, I really liked the first 1/2, but I've never been a huge fan of Killer Queen before. I'll probably revisit this as I've enjoyed being reintroduced to Queen for the album challenge.

A mix of known "best of" songs, so hidden gems, and some real dogs. 4 stars.

I'm not a big fan of Queen but I enjoyed this one

Pretty good but not Queen’s best. “Killer queen” is their standout hit on this album and my favorite track.

Fantastic rock pop album. The people saying Queen is the most overrated band or that they have no soul must be hoping someone will pay attention and give them the hug they have been longing for.

Standout Tracks: Brighton Rock Killer Queen Stone Cold Crazy Flick of the Wrist Theatrical and bombastic. A few stand out tracks caught my attention. Tracks flowed well together. Last track dragged on a bit (but did get stuck in my head) and some tracks I wish stayed on a little longer.

Well ive been listening to this album for more than 40 years and there are some top so far on here and ii love the transition from Tenement Funster to Flick of the wrist which us a great song. It narrowly misses a five and we do t round up 3’s and 4’s.

Queen's first two records, 'Queen' and 'Queen II' were largely adventurous, if somewhat unfocused affairs, but 'Sheer Heart Attack' is the first time the flamboyant foursome from western London sounded tight, focused and determined to take popular music by storm. He's not quite going full opera (yet), but Freddie Mercury's vocals and piano soar over the mix like a cygnet ready to grow into an elegant swan, and he's backed by the genius guitar riffs of Brian May, the quiet-yet-commanding bass of John Deacon and the ever-fun drumming of Roger Taylor. Through the one-two punch opener of 'Brighton Rock' and 'Killer Queen', to the soaring 'Now I'm Here', the proto-metal of 'Stone Cold Crazy' and the tenderness of 'Dear Friends', Queen are very much coming into their own on 'Sheer Heart Attack', which supports the claim of many that this is Queen's first truly great album. One thing I've always felt about Queen is that they're one of the rare bands where every member was quite capable of being a front man in their own right, it's just that one of their members, Freddie Mercury, was a once-in-a-generation entertainer few were able to match in terms of vocal chops, charisma, stage presence and the ability to make stadiums full of people feel heard and appreciated. I say this because both Roger Taylor and Brian May both have a go on lead vocals on 'Tenement Funster' and 'She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes)' respectively, and both Taylor and May have perfectly serviceable voices that could front any other band. Another thing I have also felt about Queen, which has always been somewhat of a letdown for me, is that they don't have too many albums of consistently good music. There's the smash hits which any rock band would be proud of, but there's also the filler tracks that are largely forgettable. 'Sheer Heart Attack' is more consistent than some of their other albums to be sure, but there's unfortunately still a select few songs here that kinda march on by without anything really grabbing you. But those songs that grab you REALLY grab you, and 'Sheer Heart Attack' is certainly the calm before the storm that was 'A Night At The Opera', where they would completely change the rock landscape with 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. A highly influential record for both rock and metal music. Best songs: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, Dear Friends

Oh wow this takes me back - loved this, haven’t listened for years. Stands up pretty well

Favorite track(s): Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy Heard before Previous rating: 7/10

It’s never a bad time for Queen

Не фанат такой музыки, но слушать было крайне приятно. Лучшая песня: Killer Queen

Queen is great as usual.

Yas kween

Very surprised. I never really liked Queen but this album has so many great tracks. Only getting a 4 as there are a few skips still and I’m not really the biggest fan of Freddy Mercury’s vocals. However, Brian May’s guitar work is amazing and the highlight of this album. Best songs: Stone Cold Crazy and Brighton Rock

Queen tiene muchos hits y siempre he pensado que muy dispersos en los discos. Este no tiene ningún super hit (solo Killer Queen), pero suena muy bien el disco completo.

Favorite Track: Killer Queen

Great start to the album, especially the guitar riffs. Tenement Funster was new to me and excellent. Lost me a bit in the middle of the album. Misfire got me back on track. Songs are a bit hit or miss. Somewhere between a 3 and 4. I’ll give it 4 to bring up the group rating.

Enjoyed a lot. Love killer queen.

A lot of albums sound better through headphones or decent stereo speakers. With Queen, it’s a whole different experience!

Come for the pomp, stay for the circumstance! I don't think I've every listened to the whole album before. Radio/Best Of releases are great. Rest of the album is solid. Could see my rating increasing w/repeated listenings.

This is the soundtrack to locking myself out of my flat

A Queen album with 1 hit song. At least it’s still a Queen album.

Classic

I've mostly heard Queen's greatest hits, but this album was solid from start to finish. More glam rock but with a touch of their signature arena sound. Great riffs and harmonies as always.

Sheer Heart Attack plays like a high-energy, guitar-driven rock opera. “Brighton Rock” explodes out of the gate, “Killer Queen” is rightfully legendary, and the album barely pauses for breath in between. There are no real throwaways here—Queen is firing on all cylinders. Honestly, it could have ended perfectly with “Dear Friends,” which feels like a natural curtain-closer. It even would’ve echoed the album cover: the band sprawled out, sweaty, exhausted and triumphant after the performance of a lifetime.

Not Queen’s best album, but it definitely still kicks a**. Strong rock beats led by electric guitar and heavy drums and all the while Freddie Mercury’s range is simply ridiculous. Queen seems to have fun with all of their music and this is no exception. There is an artistic quality to their songs in addition to the entertainment each provides. Above average band and entertainers.

(4.5) c’est trop cool!

Stronger than I expected. Worth another listen

great album. milestone. Still not my favorite list

Queen is it's own.

Starting your album off by doing a multi-gendered duet with yourself is such a ballsy move, thats Freddie Mercury for you. This one is a lot of fun, a high octane fusion of precise classic rock with pure musical theater. Doesnt always work for me but when it hits, it really hits. Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, Flick of the Wrist, and the finale here, all terrific tracks. A big improvement on Queen II, they didnt get rid of the bombastic antics but they stopped fighting goblins

Lots of great songs, not many of the big hits I knew of so some nice surprises here

well it has killer queen, one of the best songs ever made so instant credibility for that. the fact that anything else is good is just bonus

Not totally my jam but I can totally see how this was a big deal when it came out.

doesn't quite fit into the silly side of their sound so much but it's pretty fun when it does (Bring Back That Leroy Brown). and Killer Queen is a wonderful song too. definitely uneven but keeps the energy pumping enough to be a good time. deserves to be one of the 1001? more than Queen II i would say, so probably yes

128/1001 :: Queen - Sheer Heart Attack Heard before? ❌ Would I revisit? ✅ Rating: 8 Listen before you die: Yes Fav Tracks: Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy Another great Queen album. I’ve never really spent much time with the albums which begs the question; is this the best Queen album? Because it’s damn good. And an especially stellar output from Brian May. Love his guitar tone here and the riffs. Sometimes Queen gets a little too theatrical for me but all in all this is awesome.

Some of this sounds like The Who. Some of it sounds like ABBA. There’s also a dash of Pink Floyd and maybe some Zeppelin. Either way, it’s all Queen

This is right before Queen goes really experimental and full-blown opera, but still incredibly solid.

Demented from the start. Silly, theatrical, melodramatic and goddamn fabulous. Hard to find fault with this band 4/5

fun to listen to, i likely wouldnt revisit this one other than a song or two. standout track for me would be she makes me.

Some absolute bangers but a fair bit of filler

Wasn’t expecting much but was actually really good. Will listen again

High 3/low 4, stone cold crazy has been a banger since day 1

Good! A bit heavier than some of their later stuff. Hard Rock Harmony. 3.9 stars

enjoyed it WAY more than i expected to, high 3 low 4 but i'll leave it as 4 for now Fav song: Killer Queen (amazing)

Operatic odyssey. Blistering paced - I wasn't ready for the tempo - but that's a me problem

Never knew Queen went so hard.

some absolute bangers and some decent filler. fun listen nonetheless

Killer Queen is the standout! The rest is good, but I’m surprised how much I didn’t really get into it. 3.5

Going a bit against the grain here and ranking it lower than i did the "II" album. Really, my rankings for the Queen albums included on this site are: "A Night at the Opera" "II" "Sheer Heart Attack" But I also adore "The Game" and "The Works", so what do I know?

Not bad

Highlights: killer queen, flick of the wrist, lily of the valley, in the lap of the gods, stone cold crazy Lowlight: Brighton rock, now I’m here I always felt Queen were the biggest example of a band who people know the hits, but the albums weren’t as well known so I was excited to do this one. Off to a bad start with Brighton Rock tho. As much as I can enjoy the last few minutes, the intro is a hard hurdle to jump over, so can see a skip and just start with absolute banger “Killer Queen” is Queen manifest. Felt like it expresses the entire greatness of the band in 3 minutes to have people decide whether they are in, and with how popular they are, it worked. While I’m not a big fan of Ternmsntrment Funster, I’m always down for other member to have at least a song on the album. Flick of the wrist is a sinister almost Saturday morning cartoon rocker/villan song vibe that I’m in, and lily of the valley is a sweet lil number showing off their biggest attribute, Freddie’s voice Now I’m here, I’ll be honest, doesn’t do anything for me. It just feels like background music montage for a movie with a band traveling. Just felt very generic. Lap of the gods slaps I love it. Their experiment with Abstract celestial space rock, trying to fit in with Bowie or other cosmic rockers. Stone cold crazy is all gas and no breaks with protothrssh riffs and just as quick burst of vocals, showing they do more tbh e. Rock the opera. Admittedly, while I did enjoy dear friends and misfire, the remaining tracks just didn’t do anything for me, with bad Leeroy brown getting a bit on the annoying vibe, despite me enjoying music hall Either way, still think that, while the album can be scattered in genres, it’s an overall excellent album that would start the bands ascent to rock legends.

Hell yeah! I have never heard Queen sound so rock-y. I got a taste of it with their other album on this list, A Night at the Opera, but this really showcased their genre versatility. I was shocked to hear such heavy guitar and instrumentation with a band that I primarily know as being theatrical and whimsical, but I thought it suited them well. I was a bigger fan of the first half of the album compared to the second half, but I enjoyed this overall. I would listen to it again :)

Dynamite With A Laser Beam 1001 Albums Generator 143 (10/20/2025) Sheer Heart Attack is Queen's third album and is kind of a transition between their more pure hard rock of their first 2 albums and the theatrics that would define the rest of their career. It is also probably the closest that Queen ever got to metal and it certainly isn't surprising that Metallica covered a song from this album. With the exception of Bring Back That Leroy Brown, which almost sounds more like a parody of music hall than the genuine attempts at it that would be on Queen's next album, the rest of Sheer Heart Attack is pretty much glam-y and/or heavy rock. I love that this album doesn't overstay its welcome, but even some of the sub-2 minute songs, like Lily of the Valley and Misfire, are really fucking good. Of course, the star of the show is Killer Queen, which is one of Queen's biggest and most acclaimed songs. Brighton Rock is also really good and energetic, but the guitar solo overstays its welcome a bit. I'm not crazy about Tenement Funster, but the next three songs, especially the huge Flick Of The Wrist, are all fantastic. While I'm not a huge fan of In The Lap Of The Gods, the "Revisited" version of the song that closes out the album is a favorite of mine. The group vocals are so powerful and catchy. It's surprising that this wasn't a bigger song. The second half of Sheer Heart Attack is surely not as strong as the first, but this album is a solid 4/5. Favs: Killer Queen Stone Cold Crazy In The Lap Of The Gods... Revisited Least Fav: Tenement Funster

I've never listened to this album before! This was excellent,

The first time I heard this record was Dream Theater's fault, they published some inspiring covers and had the Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist, Lily of the Valley medley as a single prog rock piece. All these years later and I can now understand how this was a step in pop direction. Killer Queen was never my favorite single but it explains it better. This was made for mass appeal, and if something was gonna feel progressive, they'd officially cut it so it feels like a separate piece of work. All kinds of genius on this project. 3.9/5

Queen’s only good album, and perhaps the most straightforward. The one where they give us what they’re really good at, 13 tracks of pure glam rock. Tons of killer riffs and relentless energy that you can just jam to. Also if you told me this was a The Who album I would’ve believed it. Favorite tracks: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Now I’m Here, Stone Cold Crazy, She Makes Me

Love queen but not all songs on this alb

Meni je ovo možda bolje od a night in the opera

Great album

probably their best one Will I listen to again: 90%

Gotta give em their props. Great album.

it was a vibe but i understand why killer queen is the only huge hit from this album

Operatic/multi instrumental rock/glam. Nice guitar work/solo on Brighton Rock. Generally hard rock (like Zep) but with psych folksy/vocal harmony parts Eastern influence on Flick of the Wrist Nice rock riffs in general Stone Cold Crazy nice metal riffs. Actually a decent variety and well-executed. Best track - Flick of the Wrist, Stone Cold Crazy 4 stars

Queen's third album is the one that, for me, sounds the heaviest. It's so energetic and raw, sometimes you forget you're listening to Queen. Specially with tracks like Brighton Rock and Stone Cold Crazy, makes you think this is a metal album. Overall very good, good pace and song selection for its time.

Would buy

Solid album, where Queen started to become Queen.

Good stuff. "Killer Queen" was always pretty much my favorite Queen song, and the rest of this album follows suit. It takes the theatricality Queen is known for and mostly keeps it contained in these tight hard rock songs with absolutely killer (heh) guitar work by Brian May. Good, fun time. Must-listen #225.

Corto, con algunos buenos tracks, pero no es A night at the Opera.

What a fantastic record!

Before the anthemic combo of We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions, Queen often wrapped their live sets with In The Lap Of The Gods Revisited. Overlooked now, but an outstanding climatic sing along that works well in both formats. (How about that Roger Taylor A5 note in the album’s earlier rendition of the song as well!). Queen pack so many ideas into Sheer Heart attack. Perhaps at its most creative with Killer Queen. But there’s also a real heaviness in some of these tracks that people don’t usually associate with the band. Stone Cold Crazy, and the excellent Brighton Rock where May is at his strongest on guitar. There’s an early lull starting with the Taylor driven Tenement Funster (surprise, surprise). But you have to admire the way those three tracks flow seamlessly into one another up until things pick up again with Now I’m Here. It’s not my favourite Queen album (or even my third or fourth!) but it may well be early Queen at their all time peak. Before their sound got a bit more refined and they figured out what was working best for both them and their listeners. A solid 4! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Love Queen but had only heard of Killer Queen on this album. Hard to give Freddie Mercury anything less than 4 stars. He kills it on every song.

Niektórzy uważają, że Queen jest przereklamowany. Nie zgadzam się. Dla mnie jest melodyjny, radosny, szalony, odważny. Dobrze jest posłuchać ich w formie albumowej, a nie kompilacji największych hitów. Mocne 8/10. Killer Queen na zawsze w moim sercu.

Great fun, big glam/hard rock energy. This is where Queen really properly started becoming Queen, paving the way for the incredible A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races. This album was great, and showcases a Queen that are finding their sound.

While not as solid as the follow-up ("A Night at the Opera") this is still a fantastic Queen record. Killer Queen, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy...lots of classics.

I'd say it's a solid 3.5-4/5

Amazing album. Smooth transitions between the songs, difficult song structures with long composed instrumental sections that carry the song to other direction… very fresh and original melodies, left me very surprised. The guitar playing is amazing too.

No surprise I have a soft spot for Queen. This isn't A Night at the Opera, but has some gems. The good ones are really good, but they aren't all so. Freddie is just a treasure.

I really like this era of Queen and I like listening to an album instead of just the super popular hits. There are so many bangers on this album. Operatic and kind of Monty Python-esque zany at times. I’m always amazed by the sheer talent in this band.

Not as good as 'A Night at the Opera' but still solid.

I didn’t know about Queen until 1979, when “AOBtD” went smash. Hey, I was ten, I didn’t know shit! But the Q-Boys were ripping shit up for YEARS before then, and this album is fast, snarly and more punk than the operatic tone they’d evolve toward. It kicks ass.

Right back to Queen - I'm excited since Killer Queen is on this album. Curious to see what I think. Brighton Rock def has some of that "hair music" vibe. Pleasantly surprised to hear Roger Taylor on Tenement Funster. Definitely a wide range of music, but really enjoyable.

Not quite a heart attack, but my heart skipped a few beats listening to Freddie Mercury again. This contains some of their lesser known songs, but you can't go wrong with Queen. Favorite Track: "Killer Queen".

Love it

This album was a lot of fun. A lot of songs I hadn’t heard before plus Killer Queen which I love. A couple of the songs were a little forgettable but it didn’t stop me from loving the album as a whole. Fav song: Killer Queen - also loved Flick Of The Wrist, Lily Of The Valley and Stone Cold Crazy Least fav: She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos)

Really enjoyed this album actually. Pretty feel good and some catchy catchy tunes. Specific rating - 4.3 Fav song- tenement funster Least fav- dear friends

So varied but all stays super fun. Obviously have heard Killer Queen before and while I didn't prefer any of the other songs to it a lot of them came close (probably Now I'm Here or Misfire coming the closest). Favourite song: Killer Queen Least: Flick of the Wrist

I love Queen. Killer Queen, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy all added to Liked Songs.

Not my favorite queen album, but overall its still super good. 4/5.

It's a solid fun rock album

Happy to get another Queen album, and the one that came before A Night at the Opera. This album doesn’t not have the same grandeur as the one that comes next, but it no doubt has its hits and was good insight into the evolution of the band and their rise to fame.

Good but not their best.

This album was great. I love how coherent it was. This may be my favorite Queen album. Super solid. Liked Songs: "Brighton Rock" , "Killer Queen" , "Flick Of The Wrist" , "Lily Of The Valley" , "Now I'm Here" , "Stone Cold Crazy" , "Dear Friends" , "Misfire" , "Bring Back That Leroy Brown"

I was curious about the albums from Queen outside of A Night at the Opera (which I've heard before). Generally the vibe I've gotten is that Queen is a singles band outside Opera. But listening to Sheer Heart Attack, I don't agree with that at all. It's generally a good album all the way through. It does drop off a bit at the end starting at Misfire, but before that is consistently great, with the singles leading the way (Killer Queen, Flickr of the Wrist, Stone Cold Crazy). Tenement Funster is a great track too. So yeah. Great album. Don't agree at all with the "singles band" criticism. Get the feeling that's just people's dislike for their goofier, showtunes-y songs.

So glad I listened to this. I know the hits and a few other cuts. But this record is the result of virtuosos coming together and playing what the song needs. Guitar tones are amazing. It’s very midrange but it all works.

This album feels like witnessing the birth of the mega band that Queen became. Killer Queen is the obvious stand out track but this has so many less known moments that signal their signature style

Yeah, this is pretty fantastic, you can hear them developing the sounds that became prominent in their next few albums. There are some songs on here that stand up to anything else they did too. Killer queen is flawless, stone cold is incredible, lap of the gods and now I'm here are unbelievable too. If I'm being picky I'm not a fan of Freddie's vocal tunes on Brighton rock and it's a little frustrating that's how the album starts. But it's very evident that they were 4 incredible musicians.

I've never been big on Queen but this one actually struck my fancy, I liked how it was a little less theatrical and leaned more into somewhat in your face hard rock.

Didn't expect to like it this much, already want to re-listen, cool to hear the difference in a Freddie Mercury song and a Brian May song, more rock forward than their other over-the-top glitzy stuff later on which I appreciate, but also not too hard

If not for a few inevitable Queen mid-album duds, this would be a 10/10

Freddie, my love. — They’ve never let me down.

Nice chill queensies.

Killer Queen, niet hun beste album

Sounds more like Queen throughout the album, despite being varied. I can imagine different songs growing to be favourites for different moods, a lot on offer.

Sheer Heart Attack is my favourite Queen album so far … comfortably. It’s the least silly. And on tracks like Brighton Rock they sound like a proper rock band. Brian May proving he could have been amazing in virtually any band of the day. Lyrics are way better also - no warrior elves on this one - which means I get to actually enjoy Freddie’s brilliant voice. Leave it in the lap of the gods is almost pink Floyd esque in the second half. This album flirts on tracks like Stone Cold Crazy with a much heavier sound. Bring Back That Leroy Brown is the only weak track. Low 4/5 (which I did not expect)

At their best, and focused on harder rock elements. Now I'm Here a favourite.

Solid 4 from me for Sheer Heart Attack - the pop bangers bang much harder than LP 1&2, the prog bits are more direct and effective, the camp humour comes through to better effect, the blend makes something completely unique (to my ears anyway) and the vocals and guitars are absolutely insistent the whole way through. Also the ballads are beautiful.

I dig hard rock a little too much

Killer

Favorite tracks: Killer Queen, Flick of the Wrist, In the Lap of the Gods ...Revisited

A queen album I haven't listened to before. Good stuff

It’s no Queen II or Night at the Opera but it’s still full of certified bangers.

sono i queen, cos'altro c'è da dire

Bellissimo album, potrei essere di parte ma la loro musica è fantastica

83% Best: Brighton Rock; Flick Of The Wrist; Now I'm Here; Stone Cold Crazy Must-Hear? Sure. I don't understand why people say this is their favorite Queen album, though. Sorry, but II is more interesting to me.

Very solid album, not too many huge standout songs though

pretty good hard rock album

- Zèker de muute weerd - 1 nummer toegevoegd aan MMMM

Cover 4 Like most glam rock albums, whatever the lyrics, they barely mean it. In other words, there's not much import or...soul? It's pure entertainment. And that's OK, if you set your expectations, you're less likely to be disappointed. This is a fun, entertaining album but not perfect (can't stand Bring Back That Leroy Brown).

It is one of the big Queen albums with great songs you know and love. Good are also those who are not radio-friendly or the best of playlist stuff. Here the song structure feels more diverse than people expect of Queen with the typical May solo after 2:59. All in all, it's great, but I can't give it 5 stars for some reason because for me there's some special, all-encompassing effect I'd need for that.

Loved it, huge queen fan. Gave it four out of five stars because there are fewer tracks I'd return to on here compared to other Queen albums.

I mean it's Queen so it's going to be good obviously, but how good? Honestly it's pretty good. So many people, including myself, truly only know their biggest hits, which isn't a bad thing because they have so many, so listening to a full album can make you hear their deep cuts, and the deep cuts on this album, most of them are pretty good, much better than I expected honestly. Long story short, the album is good and it's nice to have a deep dive on a good band to learn their deep cuts and it's rewarding their deep cuts are good too

По характеру звука — наиболее родной моему сердцу альбом Квинов. Шумно, буйно, с зажигательным характером.

Killer queen always good. And overall good stuff. I liked the live versions on disc 2 of the version I listened to. Solid.

Loved this album. These guys were ready to play arena rock in 74. So much fun.

A bombastic entry into Queen's glam rock era, this album has such a solid composition it is incredible. Multiple times I was caught off guard by how well songs flowed directly into another, despite having wildly different styles to them. Just an overall damn good album Favorites: Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, Misfire Flops: N/A

Powerful rockers by a band overflowing with talent.

Gotta love that Freddie Mercury falsetto and theatricality!

Shockingly good. A variety of styles and themes.

Another Queen album that I was pleasantly surprised by. We are so used to the bombastic Queen that can be heard on the radio all the time. This had a more straightforward rock feel to me, even a harder edge at times in numerous songs, and I much prefer this version of Queen. Killer Queen is an excellent song, but there’s a lot more on this record that is worth staying for. Brighton Rock is a cool opener, though I much prefer the guitar solo in the middle of this tune than any of the vocal parts. Tenement Funster is more of a traditional rock song too from the band. Liked this one as well. To be sure, there’s plenty in the “this is what we are used to” category for Queen. The two In The Lap Of The Gods songs are good examples of this. Very rock opera-ish and fun listens. I really enjoyed Misfire. This reminded me a lot of Don’t Treat Me Bad by Firehouse for some reason. Just a bunch of different styles throughout this record. Really good.

Álbum clássico e muito bom. TRN VX PRO+.

Great album, but it’s not their best

Another classic Queen album, and the 2nd album of theirs in the past week. This was a lot of fun, but probably my least favorite of the 3 or 4 albums I’ve gotten of theirs so far.

This is not my favorite Queen album but even a 2nd tier album from Queen is better than most other albums. This album is operatic, complex, played and recorded really well, a little weird at times. It's exactly what you would expect from Queen. 4/5

This is peak early queen - vestiges of their prog-rock origins remain but have been streamlined and tightened, the operatic pop song craft is there in its early nascent form, and the killer crunching guitar riffs as on “Now I’m Here” are present throughout. Queen would go on to produce more acclaimed albums, but none that rocked quite like this one.

Fist time listen. Even if I know Queen 20+ years (mostly greatest hits and two big live concerts, and first album). Wow, more rocky than latter queen, but we already have the signature in a few songs, some beautiful melodies there. 3.5 but in the mood, I wnjoyed it a lot (listened two times)

Yeah, this is great! Never listened to anything but the Greatest Hits, I think? Lot of gems on this one, loads of weird rock and roll, I like this a lot.

Brighton Rock // Killer Queen // Flick Of The Wrist // In The Lap Of The Gods // 3.5/5

A damn fine album with some killer tracks. But once again we must ask if this is truly the definitive "must-listen" album from their catalog. And, once again, the Author has chosen an album from a transitional period for the band. In any case, it was nice to revisit this one and hear some tunes that I had skipped while going for Queen's more vital work.

Bueno, es queen así que es bueno pero no aamo la vrd. Solo por temas de gustos y xq estoy cansada

It’s Queen, of course I’m gonna love it. Not my favourite album by them but still SO GOOD!!! My favs were Killer Queen, Tenement Funster, Lily Of The Valley and In The Lap Of The Gods… Revisited.

Enjoyed more than other queen albums ive heard

EN: Sheer Heart Attack has been one of my dearest albums for a while, contaning some of my favorite Queen tracks, such as In the Lap of the Gods (both), but being great for its consistancy, creativity and uniqueness. It's hard to compare it to A Night at the Opera, which is my personal favorite, but it's up there with it. PT-BR: Sheer Heart Attack é um dos meus álbuns mais queridos há algum tempo, contendo algumas das minhas faixas favoritas do Queen, como In the Lap of the Gods (ambas), mas sendo ótimo por sua consistência, criatividade e singularidade. É difícil compará-lo a A Night at the Opera, que é o meu favorito, mas está no mesmo nível. 8/10

Not my favourite of theirs, but still a lot of great tracks

Bør høre mer på Queen.

A fantastic album that showcases Queen's incredible range and creativity. From the explosive energy of "Stone Cold Crazy" to the iconic "Killer Queen," every track is a delight. The blend of rock, pop, and theatricality is executed brilliantly, making it a memorable listen.

I mean how can you NOT give this album a high rating? It's Queen. They're known around the world for a reason. Freddie Mercury's vocals are unmatched, and Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor are some of the most talented musicians of their time. I will say this album did not contain many of their hits, mostly hidden gems. If you listen to Queen casually, you'll likely only know Killer Queen. I do feel like it's not their best album, but it's still head and shoulders above many other albums on this generator. A "pretty good" Queen album is still a phenomenal album, and I'm looking forward to more Queen albums down the road!

78/100. Sheer Heart Attack is a vital early Queen record, showing them in full creative bloom. It's a mix of glam, prog, metal, and pop instincts, all delivered with charisma and technical skill. The highs are genuinely iconic, and the rest, while uneven, is never boring.

would rate 4.5 / 5 but cant click that in the rating system. Feels very pre-peak queen, high energy, lots of interesting production work (Fades, playing with stereo channel, etc.). very fun listen

My biggest problem with Queen is their greatest hits album is too good. For most people born after like 1965, the greatest hits album is their introduction to Queen which sets some very high expectations. On this album It feels like they found their sound, more hard rock less prog. Killer Queen and Now I'm Here are immediately recognizable as Queen songs. Stone Cold Crazy was interesting in that it almost sounds like a punk song. This is a very good album by a transcendent group.

Pretty good, has a couple of classic tunes in it.

This album cover is something else! Aside from that, excellent Queen, as always.

Театральщина такая хорошая

killer queen is one of the best songs they wrote but bring back Leroy brown is a close second just for the iconic banjo uke solo

Æ vet ikke om æ synes Queen e et band som treng mer enn ett album på en liste som det her, men det høres ut som Queen, det skal dem ha.

Been a long time since I've listened to any Queen records but I remember this one being one of their better ones. Actually this probably is the best Queen album. I have to relisten to "A Night At The Opera" before I can say for sure but yea this is pretty great. Favorite track: Killer Queen

Addressing the elephant in the room, the album cover alone stops this from being 5 stars for me. 3/4 of the people on the cover don't look human and it's just uncomfortable to stare at for 39 minutes. Anyways, the actual album is great. Lots of Freddie Mercury's trademarked theatrical singing, and even some good vocal moments from the guitarist. The highs on this album were incredibly high, but much like all Queen albums to my knowledge, this one has some extreme standouts. On this one it's Brighton Rock, Flick of the Wrist, and In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited (imo). The rest of the album was good, but nowhere near those 3 songs.

Classic Queen stuff, good rock mixed with opera style vocals. As a whole album it's a bit much, but there were some gems in there

Great early rock album. Excellent guitar riffs. A touch of punk on Stone Cold Crazy.

Classic artists that exceed the hype list: Queen, Prince, Johnny Cash

Great album some tunes i never would have thought were queen's style - much harder.

Brighton Rock - Very strong as an opener, nice shuffle drum beat, Hendrix esque guitar. Killer Queen - Typical piano intro for Queen, dramatic, one of my favourite Queen songs. Tenement Funster - Doesn't sound like Queen, keys hit all the cues perfectly, drums used simple but effective fills. Flick of the Wrist - Darker themed, vocals hit different, flows well. Lily of the Valley - Short and sweet, the build-ups are cool. Now I'm Here - Toms are used creatively, Vocals are a bit too pitchy for me. In the Lap of Gods - Could tell a story without lyrics, very impressed off of first listen. Stone Cold Crazy - Momentum switch from previous song, Auxiliary is used perfectly, cutoffs are outstanding. Dear Friends - Lovely solo from Freddie Mercury, Backup vocals have a very good tone. Misfire - Acoustic is nice, electric supports well, lovely cowbell hit. Bring Back That Leroy Brown - Reminds me of a 50's swing song, interesting mix of instruments (banjo ukelele, and bass voice), Could use more guitar. She Makes Me (Stormtrooper In Stilettos) - Vocals aren't really the greatest in this one, Bring the bass out more.

Stone Cold Crazy

extra star for killer queen

some variety of songs but most of them are really catchy or unique but none overstay their welcome

A relatively short album with a lot of musical variety. Creative lyrics. Killer Queen and In the Lap of The Gods are the standout tracks. Would relisten

Beautifully done. Even back then, Queen was nothing short of epic, even if some tracks were a bit rough around the edges.

Quintessential Queen

By far the best album I’ve listened to so far. Nice short songs. I love Queen. I only knew Killer Queen, but that’s one of my favorite Queen songs.

Gillade medley med Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist och Lily of the Valley

Hearty

The first “Great” Queen albums I think but better ones followed…

It’s an epic. They really are the like conceptual opera kings, queens if you will, of this era and maybe of all time. Not my favorite album from them but I had a great time when I wasn’t rolling my eyes at the lyrics (only because the like opera epic isn’t my thing, not because they’re bad). I’ll shoot them a 4 for this, looking forward to their better albums. Agree with other reviews that killer queen sticks out weirdly on this album and might be my least favorite in the context but best outside of it. Side two (stone cold on) definitely leaves the epic and dear friend sort of came out of left field. Did not like the stormtrooper song.

Very good but not a huge Queen fan. I can really enjoy 1-2 songs consecutively, but it starts to fade. Over all, this is a very strong album, but I think other Queen records are stronger. Biased weak 4

Good album!

Je connaissais quelques sons iconiques mais je pensais pas qu’ils s’inséraient dans un album aussi bien construit. Une bonne surprise !

Happy to say I liked this one, after not really liking Queen II, the previous album. It was just better in all ways. Was interesting to hear a song not sung by Freddie on here too. 3.5/5

Big fun times; better than expected!

Wen album

J - 4/5 Best Track - "Killer Queen" F - 4/5

Ruddy excellent! :)

One of queens best, worth it for Brighton Rock alone.

Great rock album, I tend to forget about how good they were before the 80s.

Pretty good rock album, not their best though

Favorite Track: Now I'm Here

Classic. Fun, epic.

Queen is nowhere near as good as their success make them to be, but I still love this akbum and think it's their best by far

Outside from the classics song from Queen, this sounds more "natural". I quite enjoyed it. 4/5

Can’t really complain when it’s Queen. Very good, but not quite a 5.

YAS QUEEN! The start of this album is killer (pun intended). Brighton Rock would probably not sound like a usual Queen song without Freddy's singing, but I love the riffing on the guitars in this song and the frenetic pace. Killer Queen might be a top-5 Queen song for me. It has everything I think of when I think of Queen: quirky lyrics, opera-style background singing, catchy chorus, great production/instrumentals. You can tell Freddy Mercury had fun recording it. I'm not super familiar with the rest of the songs, but enjoyed Flick Of The Wrist, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy, and In The Laps Of The Gods (Revisited version). I love the mix of hard rock songs with the more opera-style rock they eventually evolved into. This gets a pretty high 4 for me, but don't think I can sneak it into 5-status.

I think of the Queen albums I've heard this is top 3 and a bit of an outlier in their musical entries. Brighton Rock is a wonderfully loose opener on which Brian May's fretwork shines through a crusty production. Taylor's drum work also stands out here to me as it keeps you on your toes. Killer Queen is a top song that plays to Queen's style and strengths wonderfully. Quirky and playful with some solid rock guitar that never gets old. Now I'm Here is another great one from their catalog. Love the play on stereo here during the build up. In the Lap of the Gods is a new one to me -- at least I don't remember it -- solid jam with overt glam tendencies. Honestly wish they made more songs like Stone Cold Crazy. Straight ripper that is incredibly fun straight through. This one does it for me. Borderline 5 (like a low 9), but giving this a 4 because I don't think I could pull it off and listen at any time.

Would never have guessed any of these songs were Queen besides Killer Queen. A good mix of rock opera and heavy metal. A lot heavier than expected.

Very surprising that this is the first Queen album to come up knowing that the creator of this list absolutely nuts his britches for British pop/rock. Didn't know that Queen had the shreding of Brighton Rock in their catalog that song was great. Followed by Killer Queen, these were the best 2 songs. Rest of the album just sounded like pretty typical Queen. Still really enjoyed enough for a low 4

I've never really dug into Queen a whole lot outside of the hits, but I really enjoyed this. Very different sounding songs and the guitar shredded.

really solid rock, very fun, not the best queen, but good queen

Pre-listening thoughts: I love Queen's hits but man Queen II was kind of a let down compared to what I know from them. Really hoping this will be better Post/during listening thoughts: you know what, this was good! Reminded me of Boston at certain points but with Queen's whimsy. Nobody stacks harmonies like Queen. Shoutout Roger Taylor's crazy high notes. Overall this was closer to what I expected from a full Queen album. 7.5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: nah Fav tracks: Brighton Rock, Killer Queen, Misfire, Bring Back That Leroy Brown Least fav tracks: Tenement Funster

This album has possibly my favourite Queen song in Killer Queen and the rest of the album is solid too. Queen are an iconic band for a reason, and whilst this probably isn’t their best album, it’s still good.

Glitzy and theatrical, this album also rocks pretty hard. I'd say the back half is weaker than the first. Brighton Rock, Tenement Funster, and Stone Cold Crazy were highlights for me.

Is Queen underrated??

Loved it! Best played loud!

Really strong all the way through.

Could be a 4 but coming after Queen II it's a big downgrade

Freddie Mercury has never made anything worth less than four stars.

This was way way better than I thought. Great Queen album and great rock n roll album overall.
