Reviews (page 12 of 13)
This would be fucken excellent at a small bar, immaculate vibes. At home with headphones it's still pretty good tho and I enjoyed it more than the other Creedence album I got on day 2. Fav songs: - Ramble Tamble - Travelin Band - Up Around the Bend - Who'll Stop the Rain
Vietnam War movie: The Album
2.9
Good not great. Very unique voice, of course.
Ooby dooby
Was looking forward to this, but it was much more rock and roll than I was expecting, rather than bluesy..... Was still good, but I much preferred green river. Probably still be back 3.5
Guitar work is bumpin and the piano riffs some flair, but the vocals are VERY uneven. Ooby Dooby is one of the dumbest songs I’ve ever heard, it fucking rocks lol. Back half is stacked with hits. Listened to: walking through prospect park. Favorite tracks: Travelin Band, Lookin Out My Back Door, I Heard it Through the Grapevine
Legalzinho, mas não é o melhor do CCR
I was looking forward to this as I’ve rarely listened to these guys, however, given how hyped they can be this was pretty disappointing. They do have a certain upbeat sass and swagger, but ultimately it’s just a bunch of average country tinged blues rock. I preferred the more ‘jam’ type stuff, so large parts of Ramble Tamble and the Grapevine cover. But stuff like the dreadfully corny honkytonk Ooby Dooby can just dooby do one. Is this really the peak of where they got to after 5 albums? Yeah it’s listenable, but not on my stereo again. Generous 3.
Der er gode blues elementer, og noget der er mere gennemsyret af rockabilly. En virkelig fed udgave af I Heard It Through The Grapewines
Cosmo's Factory was a surprise, overall not too hillbilly in sound and more of a rock vibe. I can see how this would have performed well on debut. There were a few tracks to like overall, just fell apart towards the end for me. Way too indulgent in their use of guitar solos. Best: Travelin' Band Worst: Lookin' Out My Back Door Note: Spotify had the extended version I only listened to the original 11 tracks. 2.5 Stars
Didn't know CCR did a cover of 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine'. It's exactly what I though it would sound like.
Hmm, I had no idea these guys were from San Francisco Bay area. You hear the singer, and you would think they are from the southeast. This is a fun album. Clearly some really great hits on this one, Run Through The Jungle being my favorite. I hear some 50's influence in some of these songs, some Elvis. This is a good, what I would consider southern rock album.
It’s not that bad, but it’s also not that great.
some racist unc probably gettin lit to this rn 3.3/5
Kinda boring
It was fun, however it didn't really pick my attention
Some no non sense, good ol’fashioned rock’n’roll. Nothing fancy, nothing mind blowing, nothing new. Sincere and to the point!
Fantastic raw rock.
Some really good tracks, some really mid tracks.
Everyone with CCR it's the same. First few minutes, oh yeah, these guys are cool, this rocks. 20 mins later, yeah, I'm through with this now.
A couple great songs in here like Ramble Tamble and Who Will Stop the Rain. Unfortunately a lot of it doesn’t really stick out to me, not a bad album at all though. 5/10
Some of the best CCR writing and classic rock melody.
Solid effort... Strong hits backed by decent-solid cuts with only a couple of mediocre efforts. Fogerty's original songs Lookin' Out My Back Door, Up Around The Bend, and Who'll Stop The Rain are outstanding. Ramble Tamble is intriguing if a bit lyrically uninspiring. Bo Diddley cover Before You Accuse Me and Arthur Crudup cover My Baby Left Me are of particular note. All others aren't noteworthy in my opinion, except for mediocre efforts Ooby Dooby and Little Richard rip-off Travelin' Band. 3 stars.
This one didn't hit quite as hard as Green River but the singer is still great and the guitars still sound good. Standout Track: Ramble Tamble
никогда не слушала видимо ккр и вообщееее не так представляла. весёлое кантри какое-то)) я пас)
A few belters but largely standard blues which ain't my jam
Highlights: Ramble Tamble, Run Through the Jungle
Only heard this one a few years ago. One of the classics which I didn't expect to like, which is why I postponed listening to it for so long. Imagine my surprise when this wasn't some dull boomer rock - it's swampy! And cool! And has several overplayed classics which all sound much better in their original versions than the countless boring covers. I should not have doubted the musical education and tastes of one Mr. Lebowski.
A good album
R‘n‘R / R’n’B Gold Standards
A solid album
Bien. Pero no me ha encantado.
not bad but not amazing. good solid vibes.
The hits really hit; no doubt. Some are even all-timers. But, like so many bands of this era, the overwrought white guy blues jams are sour milk.
Classic CCR grooviness. I don’t find there’s a lot of variance in their style, subject matter, and so to some degree I feel like CCR has a general memorableness that doesn’t yield a lot of memorable tunes.
Straightforward rock and roll. Enjoyable
I like the popular songs on this album, the others not so much.
3.5
There are undeniably some banging southern rock going on here. Fogerty's vocal is grainy goodness, it really compliments the guitar. The track length didn't actually bother me too much, I liked getting lost in the soundscape. The riffs really carry it. The big let down is the more basic blues tracks. I don't really know what would fill that void though.
Sounds kind of average at best but it has a unique sounds like America sound to it. I Know some of these songs even if they were from commercials of albums representing the 70s LOL.
Very good.
I always underestimate how much I like CCR until I listen again. Willy and the Poor Boys is my favorite of their albums, but this is probably second or close to it. Considering they were only active for about 4-5 years, their productivity was almost as high as the Beatles or Dylan compared to a similar time period. “Up Around the Bend” and “Who’ll Stop the Rain” are highlights from the album, but a few other tracks surprised me with how much I enjoyed them, like “Travelin’ Band” and the cover of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” which interestingly retained some soul elements while mostly being performed in CCR’s iconic swamp rock style.
Really well made and well written music, but for hicks. This is an unprecedented moment as, vastly familiar as I am with them, it is the first time I can remember listening to CCR intentionally. "Who'll Stop The Rain" rips. Some classics in this bunch that'll always land during a cinema scene needle drop. CCR really cornered the market on 2/3 of the quintessential "Vietnam war movie scene" cuts: "Fortunate Son" (off another album) "Run Through The Jungle" They'll never top Hendrix's "All Along The Watchtower" cover however. I sincerely look forward to never hearing the song "Ooby Dooby" again in my life. "Looking Out My Back Door" sounds like a Muppet jug band. It's mildly comforting but altogether unnecessary. Such is the 11 minute long "Uh Hoiiiyde It Through the Grapevine" cover which is an original and competent take but I'll never be reaching for Fogerty's vocals when Marvin Gaye's version exists. This is good music, I'd never dream to slap it out of anyone's ears. I won't be aching to hear it again however, when I inevitably hear it come on classic rock radio playing on some Uber dashboard in a southern state.
5/10 American Country and Western
The first album I got on this project was Bayou Country which I really enjoyed. The 17th was Green River which is also pretty good. This is the 216th and that's it for CCR. I didn't enjoy this as much - both the others got 4s but strong ones and maybe now I'd go for a 5 for one or both of them. This has less earth and grime to it, which is what I enjoyed about the first two albums. It's still OK - and I enjoyed hearing the couple of tunes that I didn't realise I knew. CCR aren't a band that was played much on the radio on this side of the Atlantic so the hits on this had largely eluded me. I'm not sure the world needs a ten+ minute version of Heard it on the Grapevine though. Certainly not this one. Ultimately this isn't as good as the other two albums I've listened to by the band, In both of those cases I listened multiple times in a day. This time I moved on to other things.
I think I'd like it more if I listened to it more.
Not as good as I hoped
3.5
Solid
I have such mixed feelings about CCR in general. They wrote some absolute bangers that mix cuttingly clear lyrics and basic rock elegantly into songs that have lasted generations. Unfortunately for this record most of those songs are not here. That said, Cosmo's Factory is not a total loss: Who Will Stop the Rain is one of them and both Lookin' Out My Backdoor and Up Around the Bend are awfully close. But this record also has some duds and a cover that I do not need to hear no matter how much they rock out on it. A two star record from a four star band: 3 stars overall?
They've got a great sound, but I get a bit tired of it quickly. They're still a really good group, and even though this album doesn't have any big hits, there's still some great listening on the album.
Jymäkkää rokkia. Välillä ihan perinteistäkin rock n rollia, Elvis tyyppistä. Myös bluesia. Aika monipuolista. Parhaat: Up Around The Bend, Who'll Stop The Rain
Ziemlicher SchrammelRock , uninspiriert geht das Album los. Aber es sind doch ein paar Perlen drauf.
A classic album. Lots of hits. Great sounding audio. But this boomer shit is grating too me.
Pas le meilleur album de CCR que j'ai eu, mais ça reste un groupe toujours agréable à écouter, bonne exécution, l'album coule facilement. 7/10
YEEEHAWWWW...I am slightly more impressed than Violent Femmes. It reminds me of Elvis at times. A little more country... Guess who made me appreciate country music. Talking Heads (which I still prefer) believe it or not. Some occasional nice ambience with the guitars here and there.
Bien. Pero no me ha encantado.
Inte riktigt min stil, men ett bra album överlag. Fin tonsättning och bra sång överlag
It feels as though there is an adventurous energy to the band, especially the guitar, it is an album you would play on a road trip. A very southern feel. Britiney smells!
Gefällt mir.
Enjoyed this.
Good
I like CCR, this album mostly consisted of tracks I had not heard with a few that were familiar from hearing on the radio. Good songs, to be clear, and I'm sure they were hits at the time, but they were lacking the power of the mega hits I associate the band with. But the closing cover of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" was absolutely incredible and elevated the album up a full star for me.
Bien. Pero no me ha encantado.
No so horrible...
It’s fine!
Some real bangers but not amazing. 3 1/2.
A favorite from way back. 3/5
Classic rocknroll, good vibe good groove
Never really touched CCR. Not a highlight to me at all, but interesting to listen.
Generally good, but also a surprising amount of filler. Did we really need an 11 minute of ‘Heard It Through The Grapevine’ that’s inferior to the original?
Great CCR compilation
Hey hey, Rock n' Roll!
Some absolutely stellar songs, some fluff mixed in too
up and down bluesy rock with a pretty cheerful tone
Got samey after a few tracks, but the twangy old school rock sound did definitely scratch an itch I didn't know I had.
Its ait some good tunes but blues is a hard genre to stand out in. Some major tunes in here but listening to the album in full gets a little repetitive, having said that credence clearwater manage to have some timeless tracks in this album. Overall i give this album 3.5/5 as there are some bangers but other songs get a little repetive one after another.
Ja, damit bin ich aufgewachsen. Das habe ich zum Teil nachgespielt.
Solid blues rock. Heard a few of the tracks before, but nothing really stood out to me.
It was fine. Some good songs, but I found myself bored for some of the album. It's a low three. My favourite song was Up Around the Bend.
Cheesy but ok
CCR - Here we go! I don’t hate CCR, I think the problem I have with them is because when I was young and interesting, I was in a band and we used to play covers of a lot of their songs so I think I overdosed on them! lol They are a great band and have some absolute bangers, most of which are on this album.
The good songs are really good the rest is a bit generic but obviously a great and important band. John Fogerty has an excellent voice.
5.5/10 highlights: Before you accuse me I heard it through the grapevine Long as I can see the light
Rock clásico musica de duelo de titanes
Yeah, some classics, but nothing I'm particularly interested in or otherwise grabbed by.
Too country for me. 3 out of 5. Favorite song: I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Good Album had also good Song Runs on it. I love prog rock but i heard it through the grapevine didnt need to be 11 minutes long if you ask me tho. Solid Body of work 3.5/5
A lot of classic songs. Enjoy.
Mostly good. A handful of known songs. 3/5
Cool 70‘s sound, I like it!
Not bad. I liked the singles better than the rest of the album. I guess there's a reason that every old man bar band sounds like them though.
not a big fan of old-school rock, but it was nice i guess
Better than I was expecting, but not for me.
rootin tootin
Niet slecht niet bijzonder
Around the Bend’s a classic, the rest didn’t drive me there.
it's always interesting to hear songs you've been listening to your whole life situated within an album. the six (!) singles on this album have structure and polish that the rest of the album did not. i'm not a huge fan of their musical style so the rest of the album didn't add much to my appreciation of their songs but "Looking Out My Back Door" and "Who'll Stop the Rain" are both classic. What is up with John Fogerty's pronunciation of words that rhyme with "burn"? I always assumed "Big wheel keep on toinin' / Proud Mary keep on boinin'" was specific to that song but he does it a bunch in this album too ...
Classic, mostly great outside of extended noodling sessions
someone tell me what genre this even is. update: wikipedia says it's swamp/roots/blues/country/southern/folk rock, so that means something i guess. who'll stop the rain / lookin' out my back door / up around the bend all chart on the "canonical to my childhood soundtrack and therefor i am fond of them" unsurprisingly, rly was vibing to the 11min cover of hoid it thru the grapevine good drivin' music. 3.5
you're listening to Dad Radio, on 99.9fm
There’s an honesty to this album that I can get on board with. The sound of a rock and roll band having a whale of a time. A bunch of guys playing music that they like to listen to. Like a jam session committed to vinyl. I like that. A really good cover of ‘Heard it through the grapevine’. Not Slits good, but pretty damn good. It’s nearly all spoiled by the last track on the album. Nearly. I can see why The Dude liked them.
I have been given a hard time by Wrigglesworth, Jimmy, and Keliko for not liking Creedence more. I probably like them more now than I did as a kid, which is unusual for classic rock bands.
Strong songs but so much sounded like. John Fogerty's voice is amazing and pierces through brilliantly it it all seems a little formulaic. I may have to listen to more CCR.
Quite nice but not my type.
CREEEEDENCE
I can absolutely see why this made it to the list. It’s not something that can work for me. Feels like I’ve already heard it all, a hundred times.
Typical mafia 3 sound, won’t listen in my earbuds
clean instrumentals, hillbilly mood, not a fan of the vocals except on ‘I Heard it Through The Grapevine’ - more chill
For me the album felt mediocre or maybe I'm not ready this album yet.
Took a lot of notes per song then closed the tab without saving. Basically a white band to bring black music to white people. Little richard sounding songs, heard it through the grapevine cover, bluegrass/blues standard sounding stuff. First original sounding song on the album is the one that just started after I zoned out with the unnecessarily long ending of heard it through the grapevine and accidentally closed this tab, long as i can see the light. Pretty cool tune, brass section and piano. travelin band remake, dont need to listen to it twice, this is the most obvious little richard one, the lack of woos is disturbing me. live version of up around the bend. born on the bayou. Cool tune i guess.
I think if you took a couple songs off and added Born on the Bayou and Centerfield, we would have a Creedence's best of album. Anyway, I can't call myself a fan, but these guys have a lot of solid tunes and for the most part, this album was no exception. I'm sure Fogerty's vocals will be a big part of most reviewers as either hit or miss. For me and this band, I think it works perfectly. Thought the album was a good listen, just not great. Songs that I thought were good/enjoyable were most of them. I really only had an issue with 2 or 3. Something about Ooby Dooby I found annoying. Before You Accuse Me, just performed by way too many bands and not a big fan of any of the covers. Heard it through the Grapevine is an all time classic, yet they managed to drag it out way too long and made me want the song to end. But to be honest, the good far outweighed the bad and did enjoy my listens. Favorites include, Long As I Can See The Light, Who'll Stop The Rain and Run Through The Jungle. 3.5 - just can't get the 4
The podcast I listen to says Creedence Clearwater Revival is bad luck. Not risking it. Also it's not 1968 and I'm not in Vietnam so listening to this kind of feels like stolen valor. I refuse to explain further. Going with 3 just because.
3 Creedence Clearwater Revival has always been kind of hit or miss for me and, subsequently, this album was as well. I knew like half the songs here going in which probably speaks to the album’s legacy, but most of them are ones that fall in the “miss” category for me (their rendition of “I Heard it Through the Grapevine" is easily the worst out there and about 8 minutes too long). The exception here being Up Around the Bend - fun tune, great hook, and while lyrics are kind of goofy, they’re goofy in an enjoyable way. In particular, the line “You can ponder perpetual motion” is something I’ve always gotten a kick out of. Like, for a song that glamorizes escaping city life for a trip out to the backwoods, one of the biggest benefits highlighted is the ability to have scientific thought? Anyway, re-focusing, the songs I didn’t know were actually the ones I found most enjoyable, with the opener Ramble Tamble probably being the highlight for me. Normally I groan when a 7+ minute jam out track pops up on one of these albums, but this was one of the better ones so far. Ooby Dooby was another fun tune with a 50s rockabilly vibe to it, so learning it was a Roy Orbison cover afterwards made a lot of sense. Not much to say beyond that - While I do really like John Fogerty’s voice, I’ve never felt like CCR is a particularly commentable band. They’re fine classic rock, and so I’d likely rate their career the same as what I’m rating this album here. Fortune Son is great, and I wouldn't complain to hear most anything else, but I don’t think I would be largely impacted with the absence of this group in my life.
Heard some songs before. Oldie but goodie
Cosmo's Factory is a fun rock album that made me want to boogie. Very America-sounding. Would I listen to it again? Probably not.
Really solid album, just nothing stood out as exceptional. Would want to give. 3.5
Quite good but quite dull.
1. ramble tamble - 2.5 2. before you accuze me - 1.5 3. traveling band - 3 4. ooby dooby - 2.5 5. looking out my back door - 2.5 6. run through the jungle - 2.5 7. up around the bend - 2.5 8. my baby left me - 2 9. uuholl ztop the rain - 2.5 10. i heard it through the grapevine - 3 11. long az i can zee the light - 2 12.
Pretty cool except the singing
Thought I would appreciate a full CCR album more, but this album seems to be missing most iconic CCR songs and the ones present here didn't pull me in.
Fav Songs: Ramble Tamble, Lookin’ Out My Back Door, Run Through The Jungle, Who’ll Stop The Rain Least Fav Songs: Ooby Dooby, Up Around The Bend
..
not an album id listen to everyday but was a treat to learn. a few songs sounded familiar which made me happy. downloaded 1,7,8
Another CCR album - more rock / blues, and even some rock 'n' roll. I especially liked "Run Through the Jungle", and the classic "Up Around the Bend"; I also like their cover of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine".
CCR saa aina hymyn huulille. Joku näiden musassa sulattaa kylmimmänkin sydämen. Vahva 3*
Another early 70s rock band. I recognized several songs on this album. Overall good music.
alright
Guf
Nice to hear a few song I’ve never heard before. Some of CCR’S best work.
beautiful music. however. john fogerty is a phony. he wasn’t born on the bayou and didn’t go to West Virginia and he barely got through basic training before bitching out. he certainly knows how to craft a bitching tune and he CERTAINLY knows how to pander. so you gotta give him that. however his phoniness costs him a star. fav tracks: who’ll stop the train and heard it through the grapevine
Liked a couple of songs - good as background music but wouldn't necessarily get obsessed with it
3,75
Cosmo’s Factory is the first full album I’ve heard by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It’s certainly listenable, but outside of a few moments I didn’t find it too gripping. I have a lot of respect for the band, and I like a few of their songs, but I can’t see myself revisiting this album often.
Was alright
never been into CCR but its ok
normal music
Some of it okay, middle tracks a bit bluegrass for me. Last track Long As I Can See The Light is good
I've stated on a few different reviews that I am not really a fan of the 12 bar blues, which i think this album does verge in to at times. I think the album itself is OK, but it's not really my thing. Highlights include Who'll Stop The Rain & Long As I Can See The Light. Who'll Stop the Rain is by far the standout song on the record. When I was I Heard It Through the Grapevine my interest did peak, I think I was expecting a sludgy rock version of it, but it ended up being a fairly similar version to the Marvin Gaye version, with an interesting guitar solo, although it did last for a long long time. It's obviously not as good as Marvin, so it seems a very strange addition to the album. Overall, I'm between a TWO and a THREE and i guess that will depend on how generous i feel tomorrow morning. If i look at comparisons to other THREEs I've given, i prefer it to some, and think its no where near as good as others, so like George Clooney, the score is Up in the Air
first time listening have heard up around the bend
Lekker hor! Ik houd wel van deze sound!
3.5
big hits, pretty good overall
pasado el apogeo, las canciones siguen siendo sólidas, la guitarra sigue siendo utilitaria y la banda sigue siendo competente.
För många rockrökare för att funka som album. Annars flera riktigt fina bitar.
Bien. Pero no me ha encantado. 3
It was ok. I think if you like the sound of CCR you will like most of what they do.
Some crazy good classic rock hits. But didn’t really vibe with the whole thing.
It has a few fun bops on it, and a few bland ones. I hadn't heard of the band before this list, and I'm a little surprised they have so many albums on here
p194. 1970. 3 stars. Definitive evidence that Creedence were a great singles band and made so-so albums. There are classics on here, all released as singles - but there is a LOT of filler, mostly redundant covers of Before You Accuse Me, Ooby Dooby, My Baby Left Me and the abomination that is I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Don't get me wrong, when this is good it's excellent, but when you have a songwriter as good as John Fogerty on top form there really is no excuse for this amount of lazy filler.
Proper classic, bluesy country rock - no doubt influential in its time but I can’t help but feel it’s a bit of a musical Seinfeld - so foundational to a genre that it sounds rote and stale. Some good tunes - Lookin’ Out My Back Door gets a mention as a chugging country number, and I Heard It Through The Grapevine is easily recognised - but overall, not doing an awful lot for me…
solid album. cool country vibes. not my cup of tea but enjoyable 3.5
A rocking good album with a couple of great tracks.3*
It was OK. It didn't connect with me as I was expecting it to.
Appreciate the musicianship and the so-so-hard-rock-kinda singing voice of John Fogerty, but that's all I can say about this very acclaimed album from a very acclaimed swamp rock band. To be honest, I have almost no empathetic feeling toward the highly influential 62-71 "rock" music era, only got of those about 10 favorite albums, 'cause they're the kind that share "mutuality" to me, probably. Thus, the highest rank is 3 stars. If 4 or 5 is dropped down, It surely has thing(s) beyond rationalities to be my favorite (like, "It touched my heart" and Co.) Fav Track: Lookin' out My Back Door
Ah ok CCR. High expectations for this, but I only know the hits. After the great first track (love the middle section) though there were a few meh tracks I could take or leave, and a creeping sense of disappointment began to grow. Then you hit the triumvirate of Looking out my back door (I hate the Eagles), Run through the jungle and Up Around the Bend and all is well again. I think you just have to give yourself up to CCR.
Solid departure from their bayou rock
Home of 'heard it through the grapevine' solid album, but not a huge amount to get excited about other than that.
Travelin Band and Ramble and Tamble are bops. COB covered Looking Out My Back Door!
CCR have a cool style and the Heard It Through the Grapevine cover was pretty solid but, in the end, it's not my favorite style of rock
Was alright dont think this 60s ,70s slow rock is really my taste. 6/10.
got tired of it after a few plays. Pretty good in limited quantities.
It’s alright. No need for a 10 minute cover of heard it through the grapevine.I don’t think I dig ccr that much.no bangers but nothing super bad or grating.perfectly mediocre.
pas super fan du côté blues / rockabilly comme indiqué sur mon profil
Mid
This album is fun, upbeat, improves the mood. Several of the songs have become radio standards and thus CCR has withstood the test of time. I enjoyed listening to some songs that I was not familiar with but I must admit that I can only stand the lead singer's voice for so long. It is just so intense! When I was a little kid, way back in the 1960s, my dad had this album in his collection and I spent time pondering the cover and wondering why this guy was riding his bike inside a building. I wondered which of these men was the owner of the rough gravely voice and I figured it was the biker because he is the obvious focal point of the cover and one would also imagine that he is the rebel.
Like panning for gold. There’s a nugget or two.
I've replayed this multiple times and I really can't remember much. Even while I'm listening, I'm thinking it has nice hooks and that it has familiar melodies. But I can't connect it to anything in memory. Highlights: -
Great iconic 70's rock. A few album fillers/covers (rock 'n roll standards) but made up by the hits.
Buen album. No es mi estilo. Rock de los 70.
Swampy rock by the band that are better than the Byrds but I still have no idea why so many of their albums are in this list. Purely Best Of band if I've ever heard one as when the songs are great, they're really great and when they're not... Best Tracks: Lookin' Out My Back Door; Run Through The Jungle; Up Around The Bend
Pretty lovely - I didn’t even mind the covers. I actually loved the guitars on ‘Grapevine’. This is a solid record and their tunes have lasted. I’d say a decent 3.5.
This album is ok. It felt like very generic dad rock to me, like I was at a barbeque and this was playing in the background just so there's some noise to fill in the silence. It's not bad, but just rock. Also one song is literally 1/4 of the album, like I liked the beginning of "I heard it through the grapevine", but then I realized I wasn't even 1/3 of the way through the song. Favorite song: Up around the bend Worst song: I heard it through the grapevine
Nice
some good covers on here. Good album i would likely listen to again
Ah, Swamp Rock. I like it. This album makes me think of ‘Nam. Or at least movies about it. There are a few songs on here that have, I think, seeped into the collective consciousness of a few generations, both the John Fogerty-penned songs and the covers.
When they stick to their originals, they're great, but their covers are pointless. And although they're an incredible singles band, they are boring jam band. That "Grapevine" cover doesn't need to exist in the first place, let alone 11 minutes of it. I enjoyed the beginning and end of Ramble Tamble, but that whole middle section is a yawn-fest. But damn, those other originals are fantastic. This was my first time listening to a whole CCR album. I think you're better off sticking to that Chronicle collection.
A new one for me, didn't light my fire
Ramble Tamble rocks. There are some other good tracks, some played to death and a few duds. And I love the cover, especially the dude on the bike!
I'm split on this, a lot of classic songs but also some clunkers. Ooby dooby was poor. And some of the a side had some solid blues rock.
Didn't know them. My bad. Solid solid album.
This was so interesting. Only knew three of their songs before listening to the album (Bad Moon Rising, Susie Q, Have You Ever Seen The Rain) and really didn't expect all the rock'n'roll/blues - what a range! "Travelin' Band" was the first song that made me go "....Elvis?". Then came "Ooby Dooby", which is just a worse "Tutti Frutti" (which I know as an Elvis song, sorry Little Richard). Followed by "My Baby Left Me", an Elvis cover (okay so Elvis's version was also a cover, but come on. It's an Elvis song). "I Heard it Through The Grapevine" is another cover on the album. Sorry, but The Slits' version is so much better. Marvin Gaye's too. So fun to see it on here though! Really enjoyed "Who'll Stop The Rain" and "Run Through The Jungle".
good not great
Not bad
Much like the Ramones, a couple of great tunes but I wanted more
Definitely enjoyed this one. Never listened all the way through a CCR album before, but found myself tapping my toe more than once.
Its CCR!....
Very close to rating this a 4*. So many bangers including Up Around The Bend and Who'll Stop The Rain (my personal favourite). Cool cover of I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Bluesy rock n roll without being jammy and wanky. Highlights: Who'll Stop The Rain, Up Around The Bend, Lookin' Out My Back Door
I was slightly concerned by some of the tracklist times - 11 minutes of a Grapevine cover?! But actually, most tracks are super short apart from the cover and the opening song and even they whizzed by. Not really my cup of tea but this was very enjoyable 60s blues rock
Very old-fashioned, melody sounds good though.
I liked this more than I expected to. Pretty jammy in a good way. Had no idea I Heard It Through The Grapevine was an 11 minute song.
Very Bluesy stuff, interesting songs based on the 12-bar blues
Decent, changes in tempo were interesting
3.5/5 solid classic rock
Pretty good rock album.
My favorite track is probably Ramble Table. Other songs were pretty okay, maybe a bit too much country for my taste.
CCR managed to always give the Southern fried rock served up without the racism. This album is a solid one packed full of the hits that defined the band and got radio play for decades. Liked it, even if the sound is becoming a bit tired and dated. Lots to be nostalgic for and a good tight album with many important songs.
It still stands after all these years. It could have been an album by a alternative band playing Lowlands. Only the voice of the singer is giving away that it's half a century old. We don't have voices like that anymore. Do I like it? I don't hate it, I can even enjoy some songs. It would not list it as a favorite.
Was good and reminded of Elvis 80s but not quote my Taste.
I was first introduced to ‘CCR’ when Up Around The Bend appeared on Guitar Hero 4. I did not care for it. The first four tracks on Cosmo’s Factory only reinforced the sense of ‘meh’ I felt towards this band. Singer’s got a great voice though, and the softer numbers like Who’ll Stop The Rain and Lookin’ Out My Back Door are very nice. The latter even references generator legend Buck Owens and that alone is enough for me to round up from a 2.5.
Funky little number. Liked it.
This is like a best-off album of CCR, but to me, it's all the lesser hits. It misses the power and conviction of some of their earlier work. And I know I'm almost alone in this opinion, judging by the average votes
I've been noticing just how many rock-'n'-roll / blues / country rock albums this site has been giving me and how much of it has not been my cup of tea. While I will say CCR mostly doesn't do it for me, I think Cosmo's Factory is wonderfully straightforward and performed really well. "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" didn't even bother me as much as it should have for an 11 minute song. Nice job making it a breezy experience, CCR.
They are good at what they do, but I’ve never been into it.
I’ve heard most of these songs before. Ramble Tamble is great opener that’d I’d never heard before
I'll keep this in my back pocket for the next time I want to sit on the back porch drinking cheap beer. Not that I ever do that, but it's nice to have the option.
Pretty fun, lots of singles
really enjoyed listening!
Oh, dit wel lekker vrolijke muziek. Ik houd er wel van. Het swingt de pan uit! ***
I'll always think if Bad Moon Rising whenever I hear Creedance Clearwater Revival on account of watching American Werewolf in London as a kid, and being terrified (I still get a bit twitchy in fields at night, and in Tottenham Court Road tube station). This album has a great mix of their massive hits, and some other surprises - Heard (or 'Huyd' as prnounced on the CCR version) it Through the Grapevine being a perfect example.
Demonstra a importância com o fechamento dos três hits no final.
I've said it before, but I do love a bit of CCR
fav track: who'll stop the rain
Ooby dooby. Ooby dooby. Ooby dooby. ooby dooby. Ooby dooby ooby dooby ooby dooby.
Green River > Cosmo's Factory, jebiga.
Good old boys playing good old rock n roll.
Lots of great classics on this. Certiainly a good album overall.
Entirely OK.
Bien. Pero no me ha encantado. 3
The music they played before my little league games.
3.5/5 that was somewhat interesting. I'll have to relisten
Never overly liked CCD that much but they had some good songs on here. Ramble Tamble had a great middle instrumental bit, Up Around The Bend is a nice rocker, Who'll Stop The Rain is a welcomed slower pacer, and despite being 11 minutes, I Heard It Through The Grapevine was the best song on here with lots of room to breathe for some fantastic soloing and jamming. Just couldn't stand some of the other shorter songs with the old Country Rock vibe and John Fogerty's vocals at times.
American music, made by Americans for Americans!
It is puzzling that a band from California gets to be called swamp rock.
👍
A bonus point for the Grapevine cover
alveg ok
Ok blues. Couple of really good tracks, but Grapevine can fuck off. Some strange pronunciation on here too.
Swamp rock, isn't it? It's fun as a listen, it's full of jams and grooves. I can see why many love this band. It explores blues, rock, and country. And the bluesy tracks are the best imo.
Wasn't bad, but not my favorite. All of it sounds the same and it starts to drone after a bit.
This had it's up and downs but was mainly pretty good! Ramble Tamble was a really impactful opener, Up Around the Bend was great, and there were some really fun grooves and a lot of amazing guitar playing across the record The cover of Grapevine dragged on a bit, but not as much as I expected I saw it was eleven entire minutes, so that's something On the other hand, it was peppered with a lot of quite generic blues/rockabilly stuff that just lacked any character, and Ooby Dooby was woefully shite
Ooby dooby
I actually quite enjoyed this album; I recognized a few songs but I really liked them all.
Classic hits
some decent bluesy rock tunes, their more popular songs on other albums are better though
CCR in a bottle! Their vocals are so distinctive, I think I'd know them anywhere. I enjoyed this one, and 'Run Through The Jungle' is my top pick (I also quite like 'Who'll Stop The Rain'. This is more of a 3.5 but it's not my normal vibe or distinctive enough really.
Knew more of these than I realised.
Enjoyed it, didn't star any tracks though
Some of the more lively tunes from CCR's discography on this one, though after 3 of these LPs everything does tend to run together.
Best Song: Travelin' Band. Short and high tempo. Worst Song: Ooby Dooby. Because the chorus is "Ooby Dooby". Overall: More blues-y than I expected. Several songs that overstayed their welcome.
hahaha asså grapevine covern va ju katastrof! Men! Det är ju tyvärrrrrr så gosigt
Det var bra
Jag tycker detta var förvånandsvärt bra.
Cosmo’s Hit Factory more like, wot wot.
A simple blues rock record that's formulaic for the most part. Predictable bars with comforting chord arrangements make up a tidy musical presentation that manages to avoid being anemic. Its simplicity still gives it life through natural delivery of rock and roll - a largely cheerful listen.
Well, it's just good grimy fun isn't it? It's nice to have some albums that aren't too SERIOUS in this list and this is one of those. Up Around the Bend, Oobie Doobie and the covers of Grapevine and Before You Accuse me are all great fun. Lookin out My Back Door is alarmingly close to skiffle - and I'm there for it.
Not bad at all. Worth another listen although there were some I don’t like. Overall positive.
Much like Green River, I enjoy the high points on this album very much. There's a couple songs, covers mostly, that don't excite me so much. John Fogerty is such a great singer that he really makes even the lesser songs have some appeal. My only other gripe is that while "Grapevine" is a great song, 11 minutes is a bit much. 7/10
CCR is good.
I think I get why they get on these kind of lists. I like the musicianship, but it somehow lacks personality (maybe I just don't like the singing). I couldn't connect. It feels like a few songs thrown together on an album. Highlight: Run Through The Jungle
Enjoyable. Reminds me of my parents and being on the Murray River
Great roots/blues. Fun with the instrumentals. Genuine analog. I don't enjoy John Fogerty's vocals though.
Nothing ground-breaking but good solid southern rock start to finish.
Somewhat dated.
Surprised at the tunes I recognised. 3.5.
I really liked Ramble Tamble.
vibe bem praiana tipo surfer rock up around the bend clássica
My last review of CCR (Green River) was: "Pleasant, functional, American rock'n'roll album. Not massively interesting, but enjoyable." Exactly the same applies here. This is a bit more varied and I enjoyed it more, but no more than a competent 3/5, as for Green River.
This is my second time hearing this album (switched to a group after about 30 albums generated). I'm actually glad to get another opportunity to rate this album, because I believe I rated it too high the first time. It's a decent album, but 3 stars for me (rated it 4 the first time).
Great guitar tone. We have this record and listening piqued my interest again. I can't disassociate Fogherty's voice with "Put me in Coach" and that's too bad. But it is also associated with "Lookin' Out MY Back Door" which is such a great song. So it all balances out. Once thing I noticed this time listening is how proficient John Fogherty is on guitar (sorry Tom, not you, and you left the band after this record anyway). CCR has always seemed charmingly sloppy but they're actually really a tight and proficient band - a loose groove. Always amazed when bands can do that. Highlights: "Lookin' Out My Back Door" might be my favorite single. And, I'm sorry, but their version of "Grapevine" might be my favorite ever. Everything else just sort of sits together and doesn't stand out, almost as if it is by design.
Had 2 CCR albums back to back, and this one is less impressive to me than Green River. That being said, I’m a sucker for 90% of albums from the late 60s/early 70s with any form of guitar in it.
Heeft een paar leuke nummers maar het stelt voor mij niet zo veel voor
Has some more traditional straight-ahead rock 'n' roll numbers, but the sprouts of something truly special are evident too.
3/5 It interesting music, it doesn’t catch me.
feel good songs, but can't take too much of it
Felt like a blend of 50’s sounds and classic rock, really liked it overall. Could see people dancing their butts off to this 60 years ago
dla kowbojow spoko
Some good songs, some less interesting.
A great album full of classic hits. Easy listening in the best way.
Solid rock and roll with a great guitar tone.

Set guitars to 'chooglin'' and plot a course for the bayou, Mr Fogerty
Not horrible, but it doesn't say much to mee
Groovy 70s rock and roll with a bit of country styling. I didn't care for it enough that I'm planning to ever come back to it again, but there are enough interesting moments to make it an enjoyable listen instead of an album I had to suffer through.
I wasn't sure if I was in the general mood to listen to this, but gave it a shot anyway. Not bad! A good, enjoyable listen of its time and era. Liked the fact that it's rhythmically varied, it's not all just run-of-the-mill blues-rock. It's got rock'n'roll, it's got soul, it's got R&B. That's how you do it.
Not bad but not something I'd listen to regularly
Chill, typical CCR
A few big hits. Feels like a jam band album
Couple awesome tracks, just don't like the cover songs.
I like this rock'n roll band. Some rough edges. But nice instumental sound to the special souding voice.
Happy folky music. Quite nice to hear it again.
Not bad. Old school country rock.
i know its supposed to be oldie goodie but not up my alley...
Great album. Some absolute classics on this album. Great guitar, just a great album
2.5
It was okay, they all kind of sounded the same.
It's okay, comfortable, expected, not their best stuff, but listenable. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible.
Here's another group that is hit or miss for me, and mostly miss. This one, however, due to the diversity of the sound and musical stylings, resonated pretty well. I don't feel it enough to give it 4 stars, but it's a really solid 3 for me. Would listen again, but wouldn't seek it out.
Good old Rock‘n‘Roll
Like CCR
I'm not a fan of Have You Ever Seen The Rain, but I do like Who'll Stop The Rain, which appears to have been released first? On another note, I don't get why they capitalise The in their titles.
Nice classic rock, exploring with very different subgenres of rock during the record
1.6, rounds to 2. I knew I didn’t like CCR, but I was still surprised at just how much getting through this album was a chore
Nice and bluesy, forgettable though in my opinion.
odio la roba country
