Isaac Hayes
4/5
Wow this was such a dope first listen. Opening track blew me away and I rode that all the way through the record. Sounds like fucken prog Soul sometimes, I'll have to listen to it again soon to see if I still like it this much.

Definitely not a bad album, is entertaining enough. However there's nothing that really grabs me personally. The southern rock sound can get repetitive. Glad to try out CCR tho.
Fav Tracks:
- Commotion
- Bad Moon Rising
The Cure
4/5
I got this album in the few days before starting the group so hopefully I can rescore this. I gave it a 3, which is wrong this is a 4. The lush instrumentals are gorgeous, even if the lyrics are depressing as hell.
Fav tracks:
- Pictures of You
- Prayers for Rain
- The Same Deep Water as You
- Disintegration
Bob Marley & The Wailers
2/5
This certainly ain't my thing. Doesn't really do anything for me. However it wasn't made for me so I can't say it's bad. Kinda repetitive but the vibes are pretty nice. On a nice sunny day it would be in its prime no doubt.
The Doors
3/5
A solid outting from the Doors, not my fav of theirs but still a strong album. I think the first half is punchy but the second half falls off a lot and lacks some of that energy
Fav Tracks
- Love Her Madly
- L.A. Woman
- The Changeling
Nirvana
5/5
A fucken classic, very few if any skips.
Cream
3/5
A good but ultimately forgettable psych rock experience. Some absolute highlights but equally as many meh songs.
Favs
- Strange Brew
- Sunshine of your love
- SWLABR
Madonna
2/5
I don't really get all the hype behind Madonna tbh. Songs like Like a Prayer are obviously amazing but the other songs on here don't really do anything for me. Also why is every song on here 5 minutes long. I like long songs but fuck me this is crazy. Madonna deserves to be on this list but I'll avoid this album in the future.
Fav songs:
- Like a Prayer
Malcolm McLaren
1/5
Album cover is funny as fuck but what is this? Why is it on the list? Is it bad? No. But it's noisy as hell, makes me feel nothing but desire for it to end. More like a 3/10 but I can't justify putting it with other 2/5s.
Fav tracks:
- .....
Ice T
2/5
This is some aight gangster rap - definitely not my thing, I've never been a rap fan. But this definitely isn't bad, some cool ideas spread throughout but nothing that kept me fully engaged.
Fav songs:
- Body Count
- O.G Original Gangster
Air
3/5
This album is so pretty, creates such a chill atmosphere. Everytime I've listened to it I've felt so calmed after. It's not an album that is particularly exciting but it does well with its doing.
Fav songs
- All I Need
- You Make It Easy
- La femme d'argent
Lightning Bolt
3/5
This shit is awesome. I don't love all of it and it can get painful on the ears but man it rocks. As someone not experienced in noise rock I'm glad I got to hear this one. Not quite a 4 but pretty close I'd say.
Fav songs:
- Assassin
- 2 Towers
- On Fire
- Crown of Storms
T. Rex
3/5
This was impressive for sure. Didn't always capture my attention but there were sections of the album I really enjoyed. Will have to revisit this one later because I can see my rating for it getting higher. Another album that is so close to a 4 but I just can't justify now.
Fav songs:
- Metal Guru
- The Slider
- Rabbit Fighter
- Baby Strange
- Ballrooms of Mars
Snoop Dogg
1/5
Snoop dog is certainly a character. Not a very enjoyable to listen to character but definitely something. Some of the beats are cool, but Jesus I'm fucken bored listening to this. If you're a G or a hustla maybe you'll like it but I'm aight.
Pink Floyd
5/5
I mean it's dark side of the Moon. What more needs to be said about this thing.
Fav songs
- Breathe
- Time
- Great Gig
- Money
- Us & Them
- Any Colour You Like
- Brain Damage
- Eclipse
The Fall
2/5
Live at the witch trials is a decent listen but didn't do anything to really grab me at any point. It's short so inoffensive but I'm not coming back anytime soon
Fav songs
- Two Steps Back
The Monks
2/5
While I don't necessarily dislike this album, I don't really get it either. It may deserve a place on this list based off of influence alone but from a pure enjoyment perspective it was just ok.
Fleet Foxes
3/5
I listened to this not too long ago for the first time. While I respected it I didn't get a ton out of it and was bored half way through. This time around I enjoyed it a lot more. Maybe I was more in the mood for this type of album this time around. Vocals are lovely and is put together very well.
Fav songs
- White Winter Hymnal
- Ragged Wood
- He Doesn't Know Why
- Oliver James
OutKast
4/5
Dam this is a really solid album. As someone who doesn't really listen to a lot of hip hop or rap I can see how people get down to this shit. A few clear stand-outs as well as some fun skits, a great all around listen.
Fav Tracks
- Gasoline Dreams
- Ms Jackson
- BOB
Iggy Pop
3/5
Sleazy as hell but good grooves as well as good production from Mr David Bowie.
Fav Songs
- Nightclubbing
- China Girl
- Dum Dum Boys
The Velvet Underground
3/5
While not my favourite Velvet record, this is a good addition to their discography. Lacks the highs of Nico though which leaves me giving it a 3 instead of a 4.
Fav songs:
- Pale Blue Eyes
Tom Waits
2/5
Surprisingly Tom Waits voice is not the turn-off for this album. I just found the songwriting pretty bland, nothing really grabbed me at any time. His voice is pretty dope tho.
Fav Songs:
- Downtown
Hole
3/5
The title track of course slaps real hard. Some other good tracks spread throughout, but it gets a bit muddled together in sections. Overall a good listen tho
Ramones
3/5
While this is an enjoyable enough of a listen, it does get aggravating after a little while. It's repetitive nature definitely doesn't help with this. Luckily it's short enough that they can get away with it. I can recognise the influence on Punk and this album is important for sure, but I'm not sure I'm going to want to come back to this anytime soon. Despite all that, I still think it's a 3/5.
Fav songs:
- Blitzkrieg Bop
Sister Sledge
3/5
Was not made for me but I still had a fun time. Disco ain't normally my thing but this was enjoyable, albeit repetitive towards the end.
Fav songs
- He's the greatest dancer
- We are family
Simple Minds
3/5
Was hoping Don't You Forget About Me would be on here but hey this album is pretty good without it tbh. For someone listening in 2024 the sound has been played a lot (especially in a house with 2 80's parents) but this was a particularly enjoyable version of that sound. Nothing groundbreaking in my eyes but fun none the less.
Fav songs:
- Someone Somewhere (In Summertime)
- Somebody Up There Likes You
- New Gold Dream
Maxwell
2/5
This album is another case of something just not designed for me. I'm sure in the right setting this would probably be a bit better, but for me I just can't get invested. Is it smooth? Yes. Great production? No doubt. But is there anything making me come back? No, I don't think so. Not to mention I'm not into exaggerated love songs so yeah this ain't it for me.
Queen
3/5
A heavier version of Queen than I'm used to but that's not a negative really. The main negative here for me is the lack of hits. Other than that though it's a solid album, awesome guitar work as always and the drumming was a highlight as well I'd say. Excited to see what else Queen has in this 1001 albums list.
Fav songs:
- Father to Son
- The Loser in the End
- The March of the Black Queen
- Seven Seas of Rhye
Nas
3/5
While this album didn't make me a rap/hip hop lover, I can certainly see why this is a classic of the genre. Lyricism is very very good and there's some great beats in here. It's a 3.5 for me but I've gotta round it down for a couple Songs towards the end that didn't grab me.
Fav songs:
- NY State of Mind
- Life's a bitch
- The world is yours
Bert Jansch
2/5
It is a 60's folk album. Dude with guitar sings and it sounds pretty good. Bad? Nah. Good? Eh. It's simple but does it do anything at the level of a Nick Drake album? No it does naut. I enjoyed the listen but am content with leaving it there.
The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
2/5
He's saying stuff I agree with, in a pretty bland and boring way. He doesn't have the greatest voice either which doesn't help. Plus this thing is longggggg. It's fine.
Isaac Hayes
4/5
Wow this was such a dope first listen. Opening track blew me away and I rode that all the way through the record. Sounds like fucken prog Soul sometimes, I'll have to listen to it again soon to see if I still like it this much.
Fav songs:
- Walk on by
- One Woman
- By the time I get to phoenix
The The
4/5
The The might have to be the greatest name of all time. Soul Mining has been in my rotation for a little while but never heard this album. Doesn't live up to Soul Mining for me but is certainly very very good. First four tracks were all amazing. I think it falls off a little after that but still maintains some solid quality.
Fav songs:
- Infected
- Out of the Blue
- Heartland
- Angels of Deception
Lorde
4/5
YAYYY A BANGERRRRR. A staple of my vinyl collection, such a good dam album. Very close to being a 5 but this listen I found some of the lyrics to be a little bit cringier than I'd like them to be. Apart from that though it's dope.
Fav songs:
- Green Light
- Sober
- The Louvre
- Writer in the Dark
- Supercut
- Perfect Places
Aretha Franklin
4/5
An absolute classic soul album, sung by possibly the best to ever do it. Respect is a brilliant way to start and A Change is Gonna Come ends it very well. Not every song hits hard but the ones that do are sensational.
Fav songs:
- Respect
- I Never Loved a Man
- Baby, Baby, Baby
- Dr. Feelgood
- A Change is Gonna Come
Baaba Maal
3/5
yo what the fuck this is sick. Was not expecting this type of thing to be on here. Based off of vibes this thing is awesome. Very hard for me to dislike, despite obviously not knowing a word of what is being said.
Fav songs:
- Hamady Boiro
ABBA
3/5
Wasn't what I expected from an Abba album but it definitely wasn't bad. Some good tracks but probably a bit long for me.
Fav tracks:
- Head over heels
Soft Machine
2/5
Man, I can usually get around longer Tracks but this album is one big exception. There are some parts of this that I like, but for something that's so long I need lots of elements to click for me.
Bob Dylan
3/5
A good listen beside my pool on a nice Sunday evening. Not my favourite of Dylan's Albums but there's some really nice stuff on here.
Fav songs:
- Love Minus Zero
- Mr Tamborine Man
- It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
Minor Threat
3/5
Short sharp and shiny, just how I like it. I've not really heard much hard-core punk but this kinda did it for me. High energy that doesn't ever get the chance to become tiring with the 21 minute run time.
Fav songs:
- Out of Step
- Cashing In
Roxy Music
3/5
I was very much hooked at the start but after a while I wanted a bit more from it. I Love the art rock genre generally and this is still a very good album, just not as good as I thought it was going to be after a few tracks.
Fav tracks:
- The Thrill of it all
- All I want is you
- Out of the Blue
3/5
A fun little album. Bonus points for Australia (straya)
Fav tracks
- Victoria
- Australia
Morrissey
3/5
Morrissey being a pretentious dickhead definitely hurts a record that could have actually been really enjoyable. The music itself is quite strong, but the lyrics and concepts lack any nuance making it bland and downright annoying at times. All that being said I still enjoyed it more than I expected to.
The Mothers Of Invention
1/5
I'm sure Frank and the gang had a great time making this but I for one didn't enjoy listening to it at all. I'm all for experimentation and weirdness but I'd at least like the music to not be shit. You can have weird stuff in a song or album but an album of weird shit and noises just isn't enjoyable.
Elvis Presley
3/5
Like him or not, Elvis is pretty good. Listening with modern ears it's refreshing but doesn't do anything for me to push it above a 3. I did enjoy my listen tho
Fav songs
- Fever
- Soldier boy
Prince
2/5
Goddam why does this have to be 80 minutes long. While there aren't any particular tracks I disliked, none of them created an atmosphere that can have me engaged for that long. I want to like Prince but for some reason I just don't really get it.
Fav songs:
- Sign O' The Times
- Housequake
Faust
3/5
I'm very unfamiliar with Krautrock, but this was a dope first go. Very atmospheric and I really enjoyed the ambient elements. Weird asf at times but that's quite charming.
Fav songs:
- Krautrock
- Just a Second
- Picnic on a Frozen River
- Lauft...
Beck
2/5
Wow this really did nothing for me. People say it jumps from genre to genre. Sure? It leaves nothing of quality wherever it goes. It's not outrageously bad but christ I was happy to hear it end. It can have a pity 2.
Fav songs:
- Devils Haircut
Lou Reed
4/5
Yeah there are some bangers on here. Lou Reed is a wacky character and I'm all there for it. The end of Satellite of Love is dope.
Fav songs:
- Vicious
- Perfect Day
- Hangin Round
- Walk on the Wild Side
- Satellite of Love
Morrissey
3/5
Bro wtf why is this my second solo morrissey record already in only like 50 albums. Once again it's not bad at all, I find that it sounds decent, just a bit dull when all packaged together.
Fav songs:
- Billy Bud
- The More You Ignore Me
Parliament
3/5
Definitely a fun record, funkalicious stuff. Not something I'm wanting to return to but undeniably enjoyable and well crafted.
Fav songs:
- P-Funk
- Give Up the Funk
Joy Division
4/5
Honestly a tough listen at times but in the best way. They managed to create such a dark, depressing, moody atmosphere and it is incredible. I actually feel haunted after listening to it and I can't tell if that's good or bad. Also, probs one of the best covers of all time.
Fav songs:
- Disorder
- Insight
- New Dawn Fades
- Shadowplay
Oasis
4/5
A sick debut album, not as good as the follow up in my opinion but a classic none the less. Live forever is an all time great.
Fav songs:
- Live Forever
- Supersonic
- Bring It On Down
- Cigarettes and Alcohol
- Digsys Diner
Pixies
4/5
A fun, noisy and influential album. The 90s sounds so different without Pixies. Where is my mind is obviously a stand out but there are other great tracks throughout. The first half is stronger but there are still great moments in the second half.
Fav songs
- Bone Machine
- Something Against You
- Gigantic
- Where is my Mind
Neil Young
2/5
Certainly not my favourite album, but something I'm glad I listened to. The slower, more folkier songs from the later end of the album I actually preferred over some of the earlier tracks.
Fav songs:
- Motion Pictures
- Ambulance Blues
R.E.M.
2/5
Man I wish I got REM. Lots of people rave about this band but I just don't get it. There's nothing wrong with this album but somethings not clicking with me. Maybe one day I'll know :/
Fav songs
- Get Up
- Hairshirt
The Strokes
5/5
ASSSSSSS ALBUM!!!
Fav songs:
- Is This It
- The Modern Age
- Barely Legal
- Someday
- Last Nite
- Hard to Explain
Steely Dan
3/5
I've heard some bad things about Steely Dan but this was actually quite enjoyable. Didn't do anything to wow me but I was grooving. I like the jazz elements and such.
Fav songs:
- Bodhisattva
- Your Old Teeth
- My Old School
Goldfrapp
4/5
Was not expecting something this cool. The dark ambience created a great atmosphere as I was walking home from work. Will have to Revisit this again sometime.
Fav songs:
- Lovely Head
- Pilots
- Deer Stop
- Utopia
Coldplay
4/5
Man people hate Coldplay. Honestly it's pretty funny cause y'all hating for hatings sake. Stay mad, this album is dope. Their new stuff isn't for me but the older stuff is so pleasant and vibey.
Fav songs:
- Shiver
- Sparks
- Yellow
- Trouble
- We Never Change
Supergrass
3/5
Was really enjoying the first half of this album, but I think it got a little stale in the second half. Still it had some fun songs.
Fav songs:
- In It For the Money
- Richard III
- Sun Hits the Sky
Madonna
2/5
Man did I really not enjoy this. Never been a big fan of Madonna but christ I found this one to be pretty uninteresting, over produced and bland.
Fav songs:
- Music
Herbie Hancock
3/5
This is a very fun album, groove is off the charts. I don't know enough about jazz to critique is properly but I certainly enjoyed it. Album cover is awesome.
Fav songs:
- Chameleon
- Watermelon Man
David Crosby
2/5
Big meh from me. Maybe it was influential for its time but to my ears there's nothing interesting going on lyrically or sonically. The first couple songs had my attention but after that I lost interest.
Fav songs:
- Cowboy Movie
Gil Scott-Heron
3/5
A pleasant enough album, clearly made with a lot of love and care but talented musicians. Not something I'm really going to be coming back to but I'm glad I heard it.
Miles Davis
3/5
Yep this is definitely jazz.
Metallica
3/5
Not my favourite Metallica record but it definitely bangs. A bit bloated but obviously has some of their biggest hits.
Fav songs:
- Enter Sandman
- Nothing Else Matters
Morrissey
3/5
HOLY SHIT HOW MUCH MORRISSEY IS ON THIS LIST FUCK ME. 69 ALBUMS IN AND 3 (FUCKING 3) MORRISSEY ALBUMS.
And it's fine, it's a decent album.
Fav songs:
- You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side
- Glamorous Glue
Queens of the Stone Age
4/5
I'm a pretty big QOTSA fan but have only ever listened to their first album once. On second listen I enjoyed it so much more. Full of bangers.
Fav songs:
- Regular John
- Avon
- If Only
- The Bronze
- Mexicola
- Give the Mule What He Wants
Janelle Monáe
3/5
OK so I can definitely see how this is a great album. I can see the potential and maybe later I will be able to fully appreciate it. Until then it is a strong 3.
Fav songs:
- Cold War
- Mushrooms and Roses
- Tightrope
- Tightrope
Beatles
5/5
Yeah there's some stinky stuff on here but that is more than made up for by the excess of all time bangers.
Top 5 songs:
- Back in the USSR
- Dear Prudence
- While My Guitar Gently Weeps
- Happiness is a Warm Gun
- Helter Skelter
Bonnie "Prince" Billy
3/5
A beautiful album, not always 100% engaging but it's definitely beautifully sad all throughout.
Fav songs:
- I See A Darkness
- Death To Everyone
Arcade Fire
4/5
Such a pretty album. At times it feels like it's giving you a warm hug. And wake up is a gorgeous anthem of a song.
Fav songs:
- all the neighbourhoods
- Wake Up
Jerry Lee Lewis
2/5
Man this guy was a feral little gremlin creature, so much so it's hard not to mention it when discussing his music. This live album is definitely not shit by any means, it's got an awesome energy and some fun songs, but nothing that I think really lingers in my 2024 brain however.
Iron Maiden
3/5
I really wanted to like this one more, and hopefully in time I'll gain a greater appreciation for it. It's still a solid album with some awesome performances but overall it doesn't do enough for me to give it a higher rating.
Fav songs:
-Prowler
- Phantom of the Opera
Ash
5/5
Dayum, this has been one of my favourite first listens of an album so far. This shit slaps. There's so much energy in the drums and guitar playing it keeps me engaged which a lot of other records can't do.
Fav songs:
- Lose Control
- Goldfinger
- I'd Give You Anything
- Gone the Dream
- Innocent Smile
- Angel Interceptor
Wilco
3/5
Not sure really what to say about this one. I think it might take a few goes around to really get it, but for now I definitely enjoy and respect it - just not enough to blow its score very high. The alt/indie pop with electronic and folky elements is cool.
Fav songs:
- War on War
- Jesus, Etc.
- Heavy Metal Drummer
Ice Cube
2/5
An enjoyable listen for a genre I don't always enjoy - I find a lot of the songs blend together, which funnily enough makes songs like It Was A Good Day stand out even more as great songs.
Fav songs:
- It Was A Good Day
Joanna Newsom
2/5
Yeah I should not have listened to this before bed. The remaining minutes of this album keep me from slumber but yet I am trapped here for what feels like eternity. This album sounds like the song a modern Disney character would sing before they're cut off. Or did I just make up a film trope to cope? Hey that rhymes. As you can see I'm finding it very hard to focus on this music at all. A 16 minute mostly harp + poetry song will do that to a tired creature.
This thing isn't dreadful, it sounds fine. If you like this, more power to you. I, however, will not be back.
fav songz:
- The Shortest One
The War On Drugs
3/5
Well crafted, albeit a bit forgettable. I enjoyed particular parts of songs, but never the entirety of them. I guess that's bound to happen with the longer songs.
Fav songs:
- Red Eyes
David Bowie
3/5
While it's not his best work, Bowie still manages to create a cohesive and engaging project in a genre which he wasn't known for. One of his many explorations and a good one at that.
Fav songs:
- Young Americans
- Win
- Fascination
- Somebody Up There Likes Me
-
Scott Walker
3/5
This surprised me, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Simplistic I feel but kept me interested. I ain't got too much more to say tbh.
Fav songs:
-The Seventh Seal
- The Old Man's Back Again
- Duchess
David Holmes
1/5
"Cause, if you can't dance, can't release - This energy!"
If by this energy you mean soulless, bland, boring noise, yeah you right then. I would love to hear someone attempt to justfiy this albums placement in a list of 1001 albums you MUST hear before you die. If you like this, that's dope. But how can it be on this list?
Fav songs:
- Don't Die Just Yet
Taylor Swift
3/5
I love how polarised people are towards this album and Tay Tay in general. You either think she's the queen of pop or think she's the reaper of happiness and artistic talent. Well guess what? This album is neither amazing, nor shit. It's fun, it's catchy, it's danceable. But it doesn't do much more.
Fav songs:
- Blank Space
- Style
- Out of the Woods
- Shake it Off
- All You Had to Do Was Stay
The Human League
2/5
Ok so each song on this album tiptoes the line between pretty good and downright irritating. For me I think that comes from the vocals mostly, but sometimes the synths can get on my nerves too - which for a synth pop album is a bit worrying. It has some fun moments though and I can't say I didn't enjoy a bit of it.
Fav songs:
- The Things That Dreams Are Made Of
- Seconds
- Don't You Want Me
The Beach Boys
2/5
While I respect the beach boys and a lot of the things they did, I have to look at this album outside of that. If I didn't know it was by them, would I like it very much? No, no I would not. It's not bad by any means, especially for something made in 1965, but I don't really get much out of it. It sounds mostly the same, similar lyrics in most songs. Easy to listen to but that's it for me. Wake me up when we get to Pet Sounds.
Fav songs:
- Do You Wanna Dance
Donovan
3/5
This album is fairly pleasant. Nothing particularly special from my ears but I can see why some would like it.
Fav songs:
- Sunshine Superman
- Season of the Witch
Van Halen
2/5
While not sonically bad, I'm just not a big fan of a lot these songs. We have so many interesting perspectives on this list, why do we need a dude in his late 20s talking about wanting to bone his teacher?? I dunno, it's fine.
Fav songs:
- Jump
- House of Pain
LL Cool J
2/5
This is okay. I feel like Artists in this genre at this time need to have something special for me to appreciate or enjoy it, and this doesn't have it for me.
Fav songs:
- Mama said knock you out
Pink Floyd
4/5
Another Pink Floyd banger, who would've guessed? 26 songs but it doesn't drag, propped up by a compelling narrative and dope as hell concepts. While I only listen to like 5 of the 26 outside of the context of the album, the other songs work so well within the album that they don't need to be playlisted.
Fav songs:
- In The Flesh?
- Another Brick in the Wall Pt2
- Young Lust
- Hey You
- Comfortably Numb
The Beach Boys
4/5
I'm kinda torn on this one. A classic album from a classic group. Do I like a lot of it? Yes. Do I think it does enough for me to give it the score it usually receives? I'm not sure. Fuck it, I'll give it a light 4.
Fav songs:
- Wouldn't It Be Nice
- Waiting for the day
- Sloop John B
- God Only Knows
- I Know there's an answer
Fiona Apple
3/5
This was a bit better than what I remembered it being!! I still don't love it but can definitely appreciate several songs and Fiona a lot more.
Fav songs:
- I want you to love me
- Shameika
- Rack of His
Todd Rundgren
4/5
Todd Rundgren does the White Album. This succeeds and fails under those same principles. A bunch of dope awesome tracks, surrounded by some more mediocre work. Not to mention it's colossal run time which means it lacks a bit of identity after all that time. I did thoroughly enjoy it however.
Fav songs:
- I Saw The Light
- Wolfman Jack
- Black Maria
- Little Red Lights
- Hello it's Me

Lynyrd Skynyrd
3/5
FREEEEEE BIRDDDDD YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Depeche Mode
4/5
This was my first time listening to Depeche Mode, and I definitely enjoyed it!! It did blend together a bit but apart from that it was a great listen. The synth work was amazing and the arrangements and hooks made it hang around in my brain for a while.
Fav songs:
- World In My Eyes
- Enjoy the Silence
- Policy of Truth
Elliott Smith
3/5
Not as good as I remember it but still pretty darn solid. A nice album to sit and ponder listening to. It does blend together, but that's not too bad because the base is really quite good
Fav songs:
- Ballad of Big Nothing
- Between the Bars
- Angeles
- Cupids Trick
George Jones
2/5
A million times better than what I expected but I expected misery and tears. It's actually just okay. Nice in parts but nothing particularly special to my ears.
Fav songs:
- The Grand Tour
GZA
3/5
Some pretty cool experimental hip hop from one of the Wu Tang members. Some sick samples and beats, but hasn't stuck in my mind really. Still dope tho.
Fav songs:
- Liquid Swords
- Duel of the Iron Mic
- 4th Chamber
- Shadowboxing
The Beau Brummels
1/5
I wish I had died before listening to this album. The only good thing about this is 28 minutes was long enough for me to locate and load a gun but not long enough for me to pull the trigger. Bland instrumentals and boring vocals with a repetitive structure :/. A couple of okay songs at the end weren't enough.
Fav songs:
- The Wolf Of Velvet Fortune
- Old Kentucky Home
Frank Sinatra
2/5
I mean yeah it's a Frank Sinatra swing album. It's nice, good vocals and shit but in 2024 is this really something I'm loving? Nah.
Fav songs:
- You Make Me Feel So Young
- Love Here is to Stay
The Only Ones
4/5
Wow what a dope surprise this was, did not expect it to be this enjoyable. While the lead vocalists voice is really nasally, it works for me. I'm a simple guy, gimme a great guitar tone and I'm set.
Fav songs:
- The Whole of the Law
- Another Girl, Another Planet
- Breaking Down
- City of Fun
- Creature of Doom
- No Peace for the Wicked
Big Brother & The Holding Company
4/5
Janis Joplin is fucking awesome, and the first four tracks on this album go so hard. I do think it falls off a bit for me, it loses its charm a bit. But still a very strong psych blues album.
Fav songs:
- Combination of the two
- Summertime
- Piece of my Heart
- Ball and Chain
Red Hot Chili Peppers
3/5
The first half has a bunch of fun, oldhead radio hits which is a good listen. If only it could've stopped there. No, instead we have like 8 songs in a row which don't really excite me all that much. If they had cut the fat from this, maybe had 12 songs instead of 15 I could've invested myself in the deep cuts.
Fav songs:
- Around the World
- Scar Tissue
- Otherside
- Californication
Happy Mondays
2/5
I might like this in an alternate universe. There are qualities of it I think are solid but I just can't get invested. I think maybe there's not enough there instrumentally to get me excited. It's not bad at all tho.
Fav songs:
- Kinky Afro
Nick Drake
4/5
What a beautiful, sad, emotional album from Nick Drake. Some of these songs really resonated with me and had me thinking of myself and where I'm at, not too many albums have me doing that.
Fav songs:
- Hazey Jane II
- At The Chime of a City Clock
- One of These Things First
- Hazey Jane I
- Northern Sky
Tom Tom Club
3/5
Whack whack whackity whack is how I would describe this weird ass album. Somehow they've managed to make something that feels all over the place very catchy. It's excellent for background vibes, not sure I'd want to be sitting with just this though.
Fav tracks:
- Genius of Love
- On, On, On, On....
ZZ Top
2/5
Man I didn't really like this. Just feels so formulaic and repetitive, similar grooves in every song. The hits are OK. Feels like Van Halen and that type of thing which I also don't like :/.
Fav songs:
- Gimme all your loving
- Sharp dressed man
Jane's Addiction
2/5
Another album that I just didn't fuck with. Not a fan of the vocals at all, too screechy. Some of the instrumentals just seemed to go nowhere. I didn't hate it but I ain't coming back.
Fav songs:
- Three Days
R.E.M.
3/5
I still just can't get into REM. They're a talented group but nothing they do grabs me at all. Maybe they just lack some good hooks? Idk, I still respect something like this but I don't feel the need to come back to it anytime soon.
Fav song:
- Everybody Hurts
Elvis Costello
2/5
Yeah this is okay. I think it probably needs to do a bit more to justify its place on this list but on its own its fine. For a late 70s album it just doesn't provide much, it probably would've been better in the 50s.
Fav songs:
- Mystery Dance
Love
2/5
Ya know I didn't even hate the 19 minute long jam sesh, it was fine. But I didn't like the first half enough to really justify it. None of these songs enticed me at all. Props for being experimental but apart from that, not something I'm coming back for.
Fav songs:
- None really :/
Thin Lizzy
3/5
I'm not a big fan of live albums being on lists like this, however I'm glad I listened to this. I was dreading it but I ended up enjoying it quite a lot. High energy rock show.
Fav songs:
- Jailbreak
- Still in Love with you
- Cowboy Song
- The boys are back in town
Bad Brains
3/5
This had some awesome moments but the overall experience just didn't do it for me. The more metal it got the more I liked it. But the slower Songs not so much.
Fav songs:
- I Against I
- House of Suffering
- Let me help
Stevie Wonder
3/5
My first Stevie Wonder album, a good listen for sure. I much prefered the more funk based songs, as opposed to the occasional ballad. Its ALMOST, a four, but I think a 3 is fine for now. Looking forward to more from this lad.
Fav songs:
- Smile Please
- Heaven is 10 Zillion Light Years Away
- You Haven't Done Nothin
Portishead
4/5
Atmosphere, yummy sounds, cool tones, this album is sick. Not everyone's cup of tea and not something I'd listen to all the time but for a first listen this is dope.
Fav songs:
- Silence
- Hunter
- The Rip
- Machine Gun
Fatboy Slim
2/5
All I could think listening to this is how much better it would be live. But as I am in bed, listening to this by myself, I can't do anything but pray for it to end. But again, if it was in a better setting, it would probably be fun, so 2 stars it is.
Fav songs:
- Right Here Right Now
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
2/5
Album cover is neat, the actual music is listenable. It's aight. I'm never listening to it again, but I've survived the experience. There were some moments I thought it was gonna do something sick, then it just went back to doing something boring, bland or similar to what it's already been doing.
Fav songs:
- Man Out of Time
Simon & Garfunkel
3/5
This doesn't do as much for me as a lot of their later stuff. Still a pleasant listen though, just not really any individual songs that I want to listen to really. I'm excited to get more of their other stuff on here.
Fav songs:
- Homeward Bound
Wu-Tang Clan
4/5
Another classic hip-hop album, it's got the energy and performances you'd want for something like this. Some big hits and not a lot of boring songs, I'd say the main weakness is just the length for me. I did listen to the expanded edition that the link took me to, so maybe the shorter version is more my speed.
Fav songs:
- Bring Da Ruckus
- Wu-Tang Ain't Nothin ta F' Wit
- C.R.E.A.M
3/5
This is a real fun little Punk record. It didn't blow me away but the guitar work was really good and they kept me going through what is a pretty repetitive album.
Fav songs:
- The once over twice
- Universal corner
TV On The Radio
2/5
I respect this album, I bet the people who made it are pretty cool. But fuck I did not like listening to it. It's overall sound just did nothing for me. No individual track stood out either. I got nothing :/
Fav songs:
- none
Bill Callahan
3/5
Ah this is nice.
Fav songs
- Jim Cain
- all the songs are a similar quality so there ain't many particular standouts.
The Who
3/5
Ahhhh its okay. It's ambitious which I respect but I can't say I particularly enjoy listening to it. Some fun little songs but the sound is tiring for me.
Fav songs:
- The acid queen
- Pinball Wizard
Gary Numan
3/5
Ok so this is an okay album, that got quite annoying after a while. I think every song seperated could be considered pretty good, but when they're all stacked up for 50 minutes it just didn't help for me.
Fav songs:
- M.E
- Cars
The Who
2/5
Ahhhhhh I don't really like it. The Who made some good stuff later but I can't get into this shit. I can see for miles is pretty good but the rest really bores me I'm sorry. It's just another whacky 60s Album with a weird but not enjoyable concept.
Fav songs:
- I can see for miles
Beck
2/5
I don't think I really like Beck. I just get nothing out of it. There's clearly some artistry here but I'll pass personally.
Fav songs:
- E-Pro
- Girl
a-ha
3/5
Take on Me is undoubtedly a fun track, despite being overplayed. The sun always shines on TV is also a good song. Apart from that tho this album is just okay.
Fav songs:
- Take on Me
- The sun always shines on TV
The Police
3/5
Not sure what to feel about this one. I don't really like reggae, so white reggae ain't necassarily in my wheelhouse either. A couple of good tracks but most of it was pretty skippable for me.
Fav songs:
- Message in a Bottle
- The Bed's Too Big Without You
ABBA
3/5
I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would, but it's still a solid album from a classic group. It does feel like a few hits surrounded by some filler, but the filler isn't bad enough to make me zone out. But the bangers bang. Except I don't like Money money money which surprised me, I thought I liked that song? Apparently not.
Fav songs:
- Dancing Queen
- Fernando
- Knowing Me, Knowing You
Rage Against The Machine
4/5
Fuck yeah, this album is a classic. The coolest blend of metal and political hip hop. RATM definitely deserve to have this album on the list.
Fav songs:
- Bombtrack
- Killing in the Name Of
- Wake Up
- Fistful of Steel
George Michael
2/5
I'm sorry this is just a bit too horny for me. And the songs don't need to be 5+ minutes long. Why is it that faith, the best song on the album, is fucking 3 minutes long when I want your sex is 9 minutes long!!!!
Fav songs:
- Faith
- One more try
Fats Domino
4/5
Really infectious and fun, a great all around listen. Obviously it's aged by now, but Fats has a great voice and a fantastic energy in his Nola jazz performance.
Fav songs:
- Blueberry Hill
- Blue Monday
Al Green
5/5
HELL YEAH THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME. What a great first listen, didn't know what to expect but was loving this all the way through. Al Greens voice is lovely and the production on this is brilliant. Had me in the feels, making me wanna feel about someone the way Al does, God dayum.
Fav songs:
- Lets Stay together
- What is this feeling
- Old time lovin
- How can you mend a broken heart
- Judy
- it ain't no fun to me
The Chemical Brothers
3/5
This was pretty solid. It blended all together for me and ended up sounding like a big wall of white noise but it was cool sounding white noise.
Supergrass
3/5
This was a weird album for me. I enjoyed the pace of it but I'm not sure I loved the overall sound? I think on repeat listens I could grow to really love it or dislike it.
Fav songs:
- Alright
- I'd Like to Know
- Caught by the Fuzz
- Lenny
Saint Etienne
3/5
Not what I expected. I think the dreamy elements of the album were broken a bit with the hip hop inspired drums, but it was still a good listen.
Fav songs:
- Only love can break your heart
- nothing can stop us
Duke Ellington
3/5
Going in I only knew Duke Ellington as the dude in the attic from Big Mouth. And I fucking hate Big Mouth. So this is a lot better than that thankfully. It's still very very long and I got bored after a while but the playing is obviously very very good.
Fav songs:
- Diminuendo in Blue
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
3/5
Almost a four, it's very close. I really liked the more rocking songs as opposed to the folkier ones. The guitar work in those songs is brilliant and I'll be returning to those tracks I'm sure.
Fav songs:
- Carry On
- Teach Your Children
- Almost Cut My Hair
- Everybody I Love You
Baaba Maal
3/5
Ok, hard to rate an album like this. On one hand, it's really long and really repetitive. But on the other hand, it's pleasant enough and I'm clearly not accustomed to listening to things like this. So, how do I rate it? Here's a 3 and we can move on.
Paul Simon
4/5
This album is just such a nice listen, so pleasant in every way. The South African influence enhances and inspires an already brilliant base to create something you just don't ever really want to end. I could listen to this for hours, I am at peace.
Fav songs:
- Graceland
- Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes
- You Can Call Me Al
- Under African Skies
- Homeless
- Crazy Love Vol II
Johnny Cash
4/5
What an emotional rollercoaster of an album. So many beautiful and sad songs!!! I haven't heard this before so I was unaware how many covers there would be, but they add a lot in my eyes. Johnny Cash covered these in the last years of his life, and as an old man brings a different perspective to them than the original writers who were young. Glad I listened to this, it was dope.
Fav songs:
- Hurt
- Give My Love to Rose
- I Hung My Head
- In My Life
- Tear Stained Letter
- We'll Meet Again
Neil Young
3/5
I know Neil Young gets a lot of hate here, and I can see why people are annoyed he has so many albums on the list. However, he's not that bad. I don't think he's brilliant either but this is a solid record with some nice songs and a good atmosphere. Not a huge fan of his voice but apart from that it's solid.
Fav songs:
- Tell Me Why
- Only Love Can Break Your Heart
Fairport Convention
3/5
The start of this had me very worried. I wasn't grabbed at all. But as it went on I started to like it more and more, until the last few tracks which I really liked. In particular Who Knows Where the Time Goes? which was so fucken good.
Fav songs:
- Who Knows Where the Time Goes?
- Autopsy
- Percy's Song
Eagles
3/5
Well of course Hotel California (the song) is a classic. Dope guitar solo yada yada etc it's a classic song. The next few tracks also stand out to me, I like them quite a lot. But after Wasted Time I sort of lost interest a little. But overall a good album, would listen to again.
Fav songs:
- Hotel California
- New Kid in Town
- Life in the Fast Lane
- Wasted Time
The United States Of America
2/5
OK so I just saw that there's only 10 songs (not 20 like there is on YouTube). That's a W for my time, however this album wasn't too bad. A mixed bag with some interesting Psychedelic ideas and hard rock aspects, but then some stuff that's a bit far.
Fav songs:
The first couple of tracks
The Pharcyde
3/5
One of the more pure fun albums I've heard in the hip-hop genre, you can tell these guys had so much fun making this. They've got really good flow too, they've just got a bunch of goofy ass bars.
Fav songs:
- Oh Shit
- Passin' Me By
Pearl Jam
3/5
A cool grunge record, a classic of sorts. It's got a few songs on the first side which I'd say are really good but I think as we move into the second side it loses speed. If I bought it I'd only play the first and then move on.
Fav songs:
- Even Flow
- Alive
- Black
Funkadelic
4/5
Fuck yeah this album is so cool, oozes so much fun and excitement. Funk and rock fusion is delicious and this is it. I do think the last 2 songs didn't get me as much as the first ones but who cares, this album good. Maggot Brain (song) is amazing as well, 10 minutes of guitar porn.
Fav songs:
- Maggot Brain
- Can You Get to That
- Hit it and Quit It
- You and Your Folks
- Super Stupid
Gotan Project
3/5
Cool enough in the background, not sure I'd ever want to listen to it in isolation tho. I wish it was a little bit shorter too.
Fav songs:
- El Capitalismo Foráneo
Solange
4/5
Production on this album is so clean man sheesh. Powerful themes and lyrics to go along with that and we've got a pretty good modern RNB pop album. I think it got a bit samesy as we go, but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt with a 4.
Fav songs:
- Cranes in the Sky
- Mad
- Don't Touch My Hair
Supertramp
3/5
This is a hard one for me. On one hand, most of the record was decent but not amazing, but then there are some moments where I thought it was really really good. But that quality just never seems to seep into a whole song. Oh well, maybe on other listens I'll be able to enjoy the rest of the songs.
Fav songs:
- Asylum
- Dreamer
N.W.A.
3/5
My kindergarten class absolutely loved this!!!
Fav songs:
- Straight Outta Compton
- Fuck Tha Police
- Express Yourself
Charles Mingus
5/5
I know nothing about jazz (or music in general tbh), which normally means I give its albums a 3 as it always feels a bit distant to me. Not this though, it doesn't matter if I dunno what's going on, I can't help but groove and enjoy it.
Fav tracks:
- All
The Stooges
4/5
Awesome album. Energy is high, guitar work is brilliant and Ignacious Pop and the gang but together some fucken bangers.
Fav songs:
- Search and Destroy
- Gimme Danger
- Your pretty face is going to hell
- Raw Power
- I need somebody
Harry Nilsson
2/5
It's inoffensive and decent, good performances all around really. But barely any of it hooked me at all. I can't hate it or even dislike it but I'm just very unaffected by it.
Fav songs:
- Without You
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
Hey it's the song from Shark Tale...
Fav songs:
- Natural Mystic
- Three Little Birds
- One Love/People Get Ready
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
3/5
This is a weird fucken album. A bit long but I did actually enjoy it a bit. Good synth-work and some hits I can't hate it.
Fav songs:
- Relax
- War
- Born to Run
- The Power of Love
Eminem
1/5
OOOOOOO its soooooo edgyyyy. I don't care, it might be satire or he might be playing a character but Eminem cannot convince me that he's not stuck in a 13 year old middleschooler mind. This shit is not funny at all. I haven't skipped a song so far in this challenge but I haven't been closer than when listening to Kim, something that genuinely had me feeling ill. It also baffles me how he makes something like this which is clearly aimed at young impressionable people, and then is shocked when one of these kids does something he says in his songs. Stan and The Real Slim Shady are cool songs I guess but the other hour + of cringe tryhard gangster bullshit I wish I hadn't had to sit through.
Black Sabbath
3/5
This album is good, its Sabbath, so obviously really good. But it's not great and it's not as good as their previous 3 albums. So while I'm glad I listened to it and I enjoyed it a fair amount, I don't really see why we needed this one on the list (assuming the self titled, Paranoid and Master of Reality are already on the list). Other artists have 1 or no albums on here but yet this makes at least (probably) four sabbath albums. Whatever, cool album anyway.
Fav songs:
- Wheels of Confusion
- Changes
- Snowblind
- Under the Sun
Brian Eno
3/5
I prefer Eno as a producer personally but I definitely enjoy moments of this one. The earlier rock-ish stuff is pretty good and the ambient stuff later is chill asf. Can't imagine I'll be coming back soon but glad I know a little more about a highly influential donnie in the music world.
Fav songs:
- Backwater
- Here He Comes
- By This River
- Spider and I
Radiohead
5/5
Ok yeah this album is pretty fucking brilliant. I heard for the first time last year and didn't really get hooked. But this time I get it, fuck me it's good. I'd argue every song is at least great, with an amazing soundscape and themes. What more is there to say about one of the highest rated albums ever really?
Fav songs:
- Pretty much all of them
The Cramps
3/5
It's okay, a decent debut but there's not a lot to grab onto really. Their energy is good, but I didn't love all of the performances. But it was solid, I can't hate on it really.
Fav songs:
- Garbageman
- I Was A Teenage Werewolf
Fatboy Slim
2/5
Man I really didn't need another fatboy slim album on here. It's not even that bad but I just didn't need to hear it.
Fav songs:
- Song for Lindy
- Santa Cruz
Aerosmith
3/5
I mean it's pretty simple but fun, a few good songs. A solid listen, idk not much more to say tbh. A couple songs I didn't know were Aerosmith songs so that was cool.
Fav songs:
- Young Lust
- Going Down/Love in an Elevator
- Water Song/Janies Got a Gun
The Black Keys
3/5
Fuck sake some of the sounds here are really cool but it's just so repetitive and kinda formulaic. Not to mention there's 15 songs here, which is just way too many for a modern bluesy album. It's not bad, Lime I said there are some cool sounding parts but just all together I was getting sick of it slowly and slowly as I went.
Fav songs:
- Everlasting Light
- Howlin For You
- Black Mud
Suzanne Vega
3/5
I don't really get anything out of this one. It's very simple which is pretty pleasant but not particularly moving for me. By the looks of some of these reviews I need to look at the lyrics more, so maybe I'll do that eventually. For now I think a 3 is fair.
Big Star
3/5
While I didn't love it, this album is definitely an interesting one. It has this weird feeling about it, maybe that's just me hearing the things it influenced (Take Care feels kind of like a Beach House I reckon). Some songs I found to be pretty boring and skippable though.
Fav songs:
-Kizza Me
- Thank You Friends
- Holocaust
-Nightime
- Take Care
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
FUCK YES JIMI THIS IS WHAT WEVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!! This album is a classic, so many incredible bangers from the master of the guitar himself. Not to mention all the other performances, particularly the drumming, are also amazing. Yes it's quite long but who can complain with this one?
Fav songs:
- Pretty much everything
The Fall
3/5
MAN, this was a weird listen. I kinda liked it, but I didn't at the same time ya know. It was interesting and had some cool elements to it, but it felt so out of reach for pretty much the whole run time. I was trying to connect to any of it but I just couldn't. Whatever, a 3 it is.
Fav songs:
- Bombast
- Barmy
- Paintwork
Liz Phair
4/5
This is a pretty cool album, I see the vision. I can understand why people would love this, and while it isn't fully my thing I can 100% appreciate it. I'm tossing and turning on whether to give it a 3 or a 4, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt with a 4
Stephen Stills
2/5
Look, I didn't dislike this as much as I thought I would. But I feel it doesn't bring anything new to this genre, I feel like I've heard it be done before but better. Not to mention it's incredibly bloated, 21 tracks is absolutely absurd.
Fav songs:
- Song of Love
- Both of Us
- Johnny's Garden
Public Enemy
3/5
Some good political 90s rap here. I don't find this one in particular to be all that brilliant but there are some good moments throughout.
Fav songs:
- Brothers gonna work it out
- Fight the Power
Richard Hawley
3/5
Okay this album is chill as fuck, perfect for my walk home in the winter. His voice is perfect for the mood and the guitar work at times was amazing. I don't think it'll have much lasting effect and it blended together at times, but still a very solid listen.
3/5
High energy and some cool ideas but ultimately not enough for me to stay interested all throughout. I can see how it was influential for Punk tho.
Fav songs:
- Ramblin Rose
- Kick Out the Jams
Nine Inch Nails
3/5
It's pretty fucking miserable. It's good, but miserable. And a bit too edgy at times, I actually found it to be a bit cringey occassionally. But yeah it's very well made, it all sounds pretty dope.
Fav songs:
- Heresy
- Closer
- Ruiner
- Hurt

3/5
Ok ok this is some really chill shit. She has an absolutely gorgeous voice its so dam good. It's pretty simple but that doesn't hurt it too much for me. It's not outstanding but I did really enjoy it.
Fav songs:
- Save Me
- Wash Me Clean
- Season of Hollow Soul
- Constant Craving
New Order
3/5
This actually reminded me a lot of The Cure (mainly Disintegration) in some parts. Obviously not all of it but I'd say a few of the earlier tracks definitely had a similar sound. But yeah this album is pretty dam solid.
Fav songs:
- Love Vigilantes
- Sunrise
- Elegia
Michael Jackson
4/5
A very fun album, such great grooves and funky beats and obviously an excellent performance from MJ. He might have touched some kids but he can make some solid tunes. All that being said, I still am not as obsessed as others, and I personally prefer other sounds over this.
Fav songs:
- Rock With You
- Workin Day and Night
- Get on the Floor
- Off the Wall
Beatles
5/5
It's good.
Elliott Smith
4/5
Wow okay I liked Either/Or but I think this is quite a bit better. I think that there's a bit more variety here so it doesn't get stale as quickly. The songs that have more instrumentals are actually my favs really. I do think it's a bit bloated though, but still very much enjoyed it.
Fav songs:
- Son of Sam
- Somebody That I Used to Know
- Everything Means Nothing to Me
- L.A.
- Stupidity Tries
- Better Be Quiet Now
PJ Harvey
3/5
Honestly wish this more noisy, I think in the moments it went all out it was a lot stronger. Still a compelling and engaging album for most of its runtime.
Fav songs:
- Missed
- Legs
- Rub Til It Bleeds
The Avalanches
3/5
This is not what I was expecting at all. I'm not usually a fan of electronic albums that much, but this one I actually liked a bit. It's a bit longer than I'd like personally but there are a few cool tracks on here.
Fav songs:
- Since I Left You
- Two Hearts in 3/4 Time
Megadeth
5/5
Thrash metal classic and I can see why, it all just hits so fucking hard. The musicianship and energy are so dam infectious from the first to the last track.

I actually just think punk makes me tired. I'm not sure why but it just sort of drains me. I can respect it and I don't hate it, but something about it just doesn't click with me. And this album is really no exception. There are some fun little moments with these short songs but I just don't find the energy to be all there.
Fav songs:

HAHAHHAHA THIS IS A JOKE RIGHT.
This actually sounds like what an AI would make if you asked it to make a boring country album. The moment it started I knew I was in trouble.
Miles Davis
4/5
I'm starting to come around to this jazz thing. That's 2 of them in a row that I've quite liked. This one has a cool atmosphere and of course it has excellent performances all throughout. There's only 2 songs so no fav songs from me, they're both real good.
Paul Revere & The Raiders
3/5
A bit of fun, nothing particularly remarkable but a very easy listen. A couple of stronger tracks but nothing that really sticks for me. I like it tho.
Fav songs:
- Kicks
- Get it On
- Melody for an Unknown Girl
Echo And The Bunnymen
2/5
This type of album really makes me want to stop reviewing every album I listen to here. I genuinely have no idea what to say, it was so remarkably unremarkable to me. About 15 minutes in I started to get bored and from then on I was kinda just waiting for it to end. There are other post Punk groups that do Way more for me.
Fav songs:
- The cutter
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
This would be fucken excellent at a small bar, immaculate vibes. At home with headphones it's still pretty good tho and I enjoyed it more than the other Creedence album I got on day 2.
Fav songs:
- Ramble Tamble
- Travelin Band
- Up Around the Bend
- Who'll Stop the Rain
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
This is the easiest album of all time to listen to. Every song is at least good, with a number of amazing standouts. I need to get into the lore with their relationships in the band because that sounds funny as fuck. Peak pettyness.
Fav songs:
- Second Hand News
- Dreams
- Don't Stop
- Go your own way
- The chain
- you make loving fun
- I don't want to know

4/5
Okay so I'm hit or miss on post Punk but this is definitely a hit for me. Started out cool but once we got to tracks 4-6 I was hooked. An infectious energy and very danceable instrumentals had me excited throughout the whole thing. I think it'll grow on me too
Fav songs:
- Definitive Gaze
- Shot by Both Sides
- Recoil
- Burst
- Motorcade

Arcade Fire
3/5
While it's not my favourite Arcade Fire album I definitely respect and enjoy this entry in their catalogue. Some nice songs in here and an overall really nice tone but I think it's a little bloated, probs didn't need 16 songs but that's just me.
Fav songs:
- The Suburbs
- Ready to Start
- Modern Man
- Sprawl II
The Flaming Lips
5/5
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!! Very much a comfort listen for me, so many cool songs and Do You Realize is a fucken masterpiece of a song. I've been tryna find it on vinyl but it's not where to be found 😭😭😭

Dire Straits
3/5
A pretty groovy classic album by Dire Straits. It has some amazing songs (Sultans of Swing, Down to the Waterline) but for me the other songs don't do THAT much. None of them are bad, but none are good enough to stand out to me. Very dad rock
Fav songs:
- Down to the Waterline
- Sultans of Swing
Beck
3/5
Geez more Beck. This is probably my favourite of his so far. Do I think he needs this many here, fuck no. But hey this is a pleasantly sad listen, some emotional tracks. Too long and follows a similar format all throughout tho.
Fav songs:
- The Golden Age
- Lonesome Tears
- Lost Cause
50 Cent
2/5
I actually liked the idea of this one, with some sung vocals and poppy production. I think it fails a bit in execution, mainly because 50 doesn't really sell his performances and I don't find him to be a great singer/rapper or lyricist.
Fav songs:
- What Up Gangsta
- In Da Club
Christina Aguilera
3/5
I would've been able to give a shorter version of this album a pretty positive score. But as is it's way too fucking long. We do NOT need 20 songs here. Once I hit Beautiful I was ready for it to end, only to realise I was only half way. The hits are good, and there's some quality but the lack of fat trimming really pushes this down for me.
Fav songs:
- Can't Hold Us Down
- Walk Away
- Fighter
- Beautiful
Kraftwerk

Elton John
4/5
Ok so historically I've not been a fan of this one, just cause it has a lot of songs. But in the environment that I heard it this time I didn't mind the extra filler songs. They actually ain't THAT mid, there's a few decent ones in there. And the bangers BANG
Fav songs:
- Funeral for a Friend
- Candle in the Wind
- Bennie and the Jets
- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
- I've Seen That Movie Too
- Saturday Night's Alright
Brian Wilson
3/5
This is such a hard album to rate. On one hand, I don't love the way it sounds, it's not bad but it's nothing spectacular. I'm not a lover of the beach boys sound in general so hearing a more modern version of it is a bit jarring to me. But the history of this album is interesting and makes me want to rate it higher. So we'll stick in the middle with a 3.
Fav songs:
- Heroes and Villains
- On a Holiday
- Wind Chimes
- Blue Hawaii
- Good Vibrations
Pink Floyd
4/5
This album is just Syd and the gang throwing some weird shit at the wall and not even caring if it sticks. And I can't help but respect it for that, even if a lot of it definitely does not stick. Pink Floyd go on to make some of the greatest albums of all time after this, and they leave this wacky stuff behind them, but it's still interesting to look back and think about what a Syd Barrett led group would have looked like long-term.
Fav songs:
- Astronomy Domine
- Lucifer Sam
- Pow R. Toc. H
- Interstellar Overdrive

Sly & The Family Stone
3/5
What a fun soul/funk/blues fusion album. It doesn't always work for me, but when it does I like it quite a bit. Energy is high and in songs like Sex Machine they are clearly having so much fun. It's almost a four but I'm leaving it in 3
Fav songs:
- Stand!
- Everyday People
- Sex Machine
- You Can Make it if You Try
The Byrds

What a jangly boring piece of shit. Sorry ya'll but I honestly couldn't stand this one. I tried but I couldn't grab onto anything here.
Fav songs:

2/5
Look my complaints about this are kinda unfair, because of course it's robotic and repetitive and kinda lifeless to me, it's techno. But I didn't like it really and it's fucking long. Parts get the brain tickle I guess.
The Flaming Lips
5/5
Shitttt i got Flaming Lips again LETS GOOOO. that's 2 in like 3 weeks. This album is amazing, tracks 2-4 aren't my favourite but they are still solid, but once What is the Light? starts playing I'm hooked again. Not to mention that Race for the Prize is brilliant and Feeling Yourself Disintegrate is a masterpiece. The live version is even better.
Fav songs:
- Race for the Prize

- What is the Light?
- The Observer
- Waitin' For a Superman
- Suddenly Everything Has Changed
- The Gash

Used to be my favourite Radiohead, not so sure anymore but this album is still incredible. Brilliant atmosphere above all, unsettling and sad from the moment it starts all the way through.

- Treefingers
- In Limbo

Ahhh albums like this are so hard to rate. Because no, I didn't really enjoy the listen but was I ever going to when it's aimed at people on the other side of the world? It's fun in parts so I'll give it a 3, even if it's way too fucken long
The Smiths

4/5
The definition of a four out of five. There are a number of awesome tracks, a few mid tracks but nothing too terrible. Hard to ignore how good the first and last two tracks are but the middle seems to be pretty whatever.

Despite the fact that I tend to find reggae pretty repetitive, this one I actually enjoyed a good amount. I think it had a good amount of Soul and rock influences which helps me a lot in a genre I'm not fully familiar with.

Man the first few songs are so good that it makes the rest just not stand out very much. The later songs aren't even bad they just dont pack the punch of those openers. But anyway this is a solid album, and a classic for fathers everywhere :)

Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Is this album good? Yeah kinda, it's not bad. Is this essential listening?? Nah man not even close. Bruce Springsteen is a brilliant artist and in his prime in the late 70s and 80s he made some dope records. And while this is good it doesn't really come close to those. So why not give another artist an entry instead?
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

So this was the hardest album to get through so far. Holy fuck was this difficult. 2 whole goddam hours of country. I'm sure it means a lot for some buy for a 20 year old Australian cunt I'd get more out of watching paint dry.
