Reviews (page 11 of 13)
First impressions just looking at the album cover i thought it was cool just the casualness and it looking like someone’s just walked to a regular day for them. My favourite track of the album had to have been ‘Travelin’ Band’ (3) because it’s insanely catchy but i truly enjoyed all the songs honestly. i noticed that they have a habit of changing tempos mostly shown in track 1 ‘Ramble Tamble’ which i thought was cool. Other ones that stuck out were ‘My baby left me’ and ‘I heard it through the grapevine’ which was a long on but weirdly didn’t even feel painful to get through, and i liked ‘Before you accuse me (take a look at yourself)’ because of the meaning and the angsts. Overall a really good album i enjoyed .
Good album can be a little repetitive but has some good songs on it ‘up around the bend’ and ‘ who’ll stop the rain’ are good songs album sounds like Bob dylans hurricane
It was alright, I won’t be rushing back
Definitely rock history, knew way more songs than I thought I would.
Initial Fav: Travelin' Band (added to my playlist) not my usual genre, but I am rocking with it. OHH IVE HEARD UP AROUND THE BEND - this band is a part of my childhood. who'll stop the rain takes me back to being a kid.
This is on the bluesier end of CCR which is my least favourite CCR. Still, this album has some bangers and the slower numbers are where this album shines, but it just goes on a bit long with too much 12 bar blues stuff.
It's good but i'm probably just to young to understand why this was revolutionary
Incredible, outstanding instrumentals. Fits a specific vibe. Favorite songs were who’ll stop the rain and up around the bend.
A bit of southern (but, not actually southern) ramble tamble. Lots of radio singles coming from this effort, although, interestingly, none are in CCR’s top five most popular. That sums up how I ultimately feel about the record - it’s a steady listen the whole way, but it lacks the “peaks” a classic favourite needs. I don’t find myself waiting for “the best part” on this record. Oddly, two of the covers are what I found most engaging - Accuse Me, and Grapevine.
wel leuk maar niet echt mijn vibe
I was hoping for a bit more here. I know their hits and they're great, he has a cool voice and they play some good riffs, but for the most part this album was alright. The couple that I knew stood out massively. It'll be interesting to hear their other albums and see if I feel they are stronger.
Fela rarely goes wrong in his immense discography. Live! Is a perfect example, and the hypnotic grooves only deepen with the excellent addition of Ginger Baker. Great entry point to fela for the curious.
7/10
More trad blues/rock than I expected. I thought Creedence were psychedelic hippies. Not bad.
Fun? very repetitive, very 70s favourite song definitely who’ll stop the rain
swamp blues still rocks, they were pumping out bangers during this time
Good easy listening tunes
V/rv
There are some very nice parts in this album, but the rock and roll parts are not my thing. However there're some great solos. 3,4/5
It’s fine. A bit dull.
John Fogerty was right. This is the burger of music. Inoffensive, everyone likes it, not usually a lot of passion or deep love put into it.
Interesting album with abolute classics. I could listen again.
i think i have listened to more Creedence Clearwater Revival on this experiment than i ever intended to. Not bad at all, just not me
No private session used for Spotify. Somewhere on CD I have the best of CCR which I enjoyed back There are a lot of tracks on this album that were on that greatest hits album, so it was fun to listen to and be amazed about how a band from California mastered southern fried rock. It's got some great hits on it, but some crap as well which is why I will stick to the best of...I know that makes me not a real fan and I am cool with that.
Um álbum esquecível. Pelo menos foi melhor que o da música eletrônica
A light 3.5
Very cool southern sound. Couple of the songs quite reminiscent of Jailhouse Rock. Favourites: Lookin' Out My Back Door Up Around the Bend Long As I can See The Light
later
Good music but felt to countryish at times.
7/10
Ok. ★★★
I get why people dig this band, but it's not my thing. "Long as I Can See the Light" is the highlight.
Some very good songs but sometimes a bit boring. Songs in Big Lebowski are favourites.
1. Ramble Tamble - 6 Good rock song. Instrumentally it builds really well and is a great sound. The way it slows into the outro is also really good. Very enjoyable for an opening track. 2. Before You Accuse Me (Take A Look At Yourself) - 6 Just a good old rock and roll song with a classic, timeless 60s/70s sound. 3. Travelin' Band - 8 Great short song with an amazing sound and the awesome vocals we've come to know from CCR over the years. Really fun track. 4. Ooby Dooby - 5 Lyrically awful but instrumentally one of the best things on the album. It's so easy to move to the brilliant guitars but the Ooby Dooby makes it seem like a track that hasn't aged well from the Dave Clark Show era. 5. Lookin' Out My Back Door - 6 Lyrically one of the better ones on the album. All around a decent sound and track. 6. Run Through The Jungle - 7 Great track. Love the lyrics on this specifically but the opening sound is so enjoyable and sets the tone so well for the track. 7. Up Around The Bend - 7 Very good song. Enjoyable on all fronts and the guitar rift both to open and between the chorus and verses is definitely the highlight. 8. My Baby Left Me - 5 It's a cookie cutter "love is gone" kind of track. Million of them have been made throughout the decades and there's nothing to separate this from the rest of them. 9. Who'll Stop The Rain - 8 Brilliant track. Love everything about this including the lyrics, how the background vocals come in and out, and how the guitar fades out to end the track. Excellent stuff. 10. I Heard It Through The Grapevine - 10 Heard this a million times via a cover. Hated all of those covers. But this original track is excellent. It's perfect in it's more muted sound and the drums between the chorus and verses are superb and that's just the opening 4 minutes. After that you're treated to just some awesome guitar and drums that provide a billing you can get enjoyably lost in. 11. Long As I Can See The Light - 7 Very good track. Love the saxophone on this track, which was a pleasant surprise. Great way to top off the album. Average Rating: 6.82 Adjusted to 5-Point Scale: 3.41 Rounded Down: 3 Stars
simply a well-made album with no claims to revolutionism or exceptional creativity. your good old laid-back san francisco rock. ideal for lighting one up on the uni stairs and contemplating life.
Meh.
Somehow this album is both derivative and stuffed with classics. 4 of 11 tracks are covers and a 5th sounds like an outright copy. But then there's at least 3 all-time classics of their own--and one of those covers is arguably a classic in its own right. Honestly if they hadn't ripped off Little Richard, and hadn't included the bland "Ooby Dooby", this would be a 4 star album. Fogerty's solo on Ramble Tamble--and his vocals throughout are untouchable, but I never want to hear Ooby Dooby again--and f' 'em for stealing from Little Richard un-credited. Addendum: Apple music played a Chris Stapleton song after playing through this album, which feels about right. Stapleton's output now feels more obviously poppy than CCR, but seeing how many hits CCR covered, I think they were self-consciously pop-driven at the time. 1. "Ramble Tamble": great opening song. 2. "Before You Accuse Me": there's something off, in retrospect, about a bunch of white dudes getting big off of straight-up blues music. 3. "Travelin' Band": Sounds like a Little Richard rip-off. Well-done though. 4. "Ooby Dooby": derivative and forgettable. Oh, just realized it's also a cover. 5. "Lookin' out My Back Door": still a solid, classic song. 6. "Run Through the Jungle": one of my fav CCR songs, the vibe, the vocals and the harmonica, such a solid track. Side 2: 1. "Up Around the Bend": I've never really like this song. Idk, nothing really to it apart from a boring riff and a repetitive chorus. Were the feel right, that can be enough, but in this case the song never goes anywhere, and it just feels like a chorus played on repeat until it was time to fade out. 2. "My Baby Left Me": another cover? 3. "Who'll Stop the Rain" 4. "I Heard It Through the Grapevine": I wasn't sure this needed to be 11 minutes, but Fogerty's version is excellent. 5. "Long as I Can See the Light"
10/10
good album, enjoyable
Nice
Where's Wanda's warehouse?
I feel like I’m missing something… but I did enjoy a lot more than the first CCR album I’ve had on here
Creedence is one of Dad's favorite bands. They feel a little bit too much like an R&B cover band to me, but I'll always have positive associations with this music you know?
Did not anticipate it being so jammy 🌼
Not their best, but ok!
Better than the other CCR album on this list I’ve had already. Good driving music.
* beats rhythm on the car roof with hand and drags on stub of joint, smiling all over
It was a solid album, but it wasn't really groundbreaking for me.
Very classic rock, which doesn't usually float my boat, but some cool ideas and songs here. Favourite tracks: Ramble Tamble, Travelin' Band, Ooby Dooby, Up Around The Bend.
2.5
real funky I like lookin out my back door can imagine a single barley in my mouth while I look after my cattle
Some good ol CCR. Good stuff
The first song was awesome. Really enjoyed that one. Also when CCR does blues rock, thats when they are at their best. I feel like they tried out some more traditional rock styles on this project, and I didn't really vibe with them so much.
i6 is alright
Like all CCR, it has some filler, but much less filler than some of their other albums.
I understand the cultural significance of this album however it didn't really hit with me. I think there's a lot more interesting works within rock even just 3 years after this came out with Pink Floyds Dark Side of The Moon. This album was very safe and enjoyable however it's not something I would personally go back to very often.
Good jams
A classic album. A portent of things to come
A classic. One of my favorites as a kid. TBH half of the blues songs u can kinda throw away. And heard it through the grapevine is way too long. But some of the best contributions to the great American song book lie here. 3.5
I liked this album fine enough, John Fogerty’s vocals wear on me just a little bit when it's not for one song at a time. Best Track: Who’ll Stop the Rain
Fint
It’s a solid album but I think CCR is a greatest hits band overall from what I’ve heard. Good stuff, but nothing on the albums you don’t get from the great hits I think. 3 Is fair.
cowboy
Nice American rocking music with a couple of known, just didn’t resonate with me.
Solid rock album but the middle blurred together.
Good
I’m torn because the music on display is good, the songs are pretty catchy for the most part, and when listening to this album I ran into more songs I was familiar with than any other album I’ve heard so far here. But I can’t stand John Fogerty’s voice.
Folksy. Good for around the bonfire or in a dive bar
2.4
Mixing almost a blues sound with some poppy rock.
This was an ok album but It's tough to explain my criticism with it. I feel like I wouldn't be a surprised if I learned the songs were AI generated, they were executed well but just didn't off much
Ganz guter 60/70s Rock, aber auch nicht mega
I feel like I shouldn’t like this album – pretty much every characteristic of it is borrowed from what came in the decades before (arguably much better) and this is one of my least favorite decades for this kind of rock music (Bob Seger’s "Old Time Rock & Roll" is maybe one of my least favorite hit songs, full stop). And yet… I somehow feel drawn to it at the same time. Maybe it’s John Fogerty’s distinct stanky vocals, maybe it’s the rowdy energy some of these songs bring to the table (see "Travelin’ Band") or maybe I’m just insane. I definitely wouldn’t say I LOVED this album and there were very few true highlights, but I couldn’t bring myself to rate Cosmo’s Factory any lower than three stars. It’s not one I’ll be revisiting actively, but I won’t turn it off if it happens to come on! Highlights: Travelin’ Band, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Long as I Can See the Light
I was overall fairly meh about this but heard it through the grapewine was sooo freaking good, and that's a quarter of the album.
solid album, didnt hit my vibe, was a good listen however.
Great cover. It sounds like fleetwood mac's first album. Is a great blend of 60's and 70's sounds. Howerer, nothing new to my ears and I think other bands are way better than them in this genre. 3/5
A bit boring, but definitely good. Funny how there's a random 11 MINUTES song in it
okay coolish
Half the songs you want to hear from CCR… half a bunch of junk. Evens out to a 3
Cosmo's Factory – Creedence Clearwater Revival – 3/5 It was okay overall—good music but nothing that really grabbed me this time. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood, and I don’t even remember if I had listened to it before.
meh
Decent, no standouts but definitely listenable
Classic rock very 12 bars blues and country vibes Only song I recognised is up around the bend A fair few forgettable songs
very mix and match genre wise. great sound though. i feel they provide the blueprint potentially for future rock, and therefore are not the best themselves
Soms wat te veel rock n roll. Maar ook goede zoals "Who'll stop the rain"
not memorable but alright
Fun album. I liked "before you accuse me", "looking out my back door", and "Up around the bend". Heard a lot about this band, and finally spent some time listening to their album.
Good ol' fun.
Nifty opening track, right out the gate they sound like CCR. Honestly thought this album was just a solid album, but nothing of note. It is indeed CCR and they do indeed hit you with that style the entire way through. Nothing wrong with it, it's just nothing ground breaking. My favorite track was Run Through The Jungle, and I enjoyed all the tracks with a catchy or weird guitar line the most.
From the start this album felt fun. It covers a range of styles that kept me guessing for where it was going to next. Yes, it didn't have a clear sound throughout, but I kind of enjoyed that about it. It made me want to hear more from the band to see where they went next. A high 3.
Mixed feeling on this. I enjoyed : Ramble Tamble, Run Through the Jungle and Who’ll Stop the Rain Ooby Dooby, looking out my back door and My Baby Left Me I did not enjoy one bit Low 3/5
Ramble Tamble is an amazing first track. The vocals have an unhinged craziness to them that the rest of the album lacks - later on I kept wanting him to loosen up a bit more. The cover of I Heard it Through the Grapevine is also fantastic, but similarly, reminded me that the rest of the album had lacked some of the poppier melodic moments that this track brings in spades. Elsewhere there’s a professional mix of blues and rock n roll but not something that sets my world alight.
A high 3 to me, loved the soloing and the jammy tracks, but didnt enjoy everything on offer
Good.
Two inordinately long tracks on an otherwise short album. It's an OK listen, but distinctly what I'd expect to get from a random CCR recommendation. Is "My Baby Left Me" just "That's Alright Mama"?
I’m a fan of CCR but have never given this album a full listen, I was pretty taken back on how many good songs were hidden in this album. Definitely slept on this one right here
kinda generic but not bad very mid in terms of rock
Just okay. Low 3. Not really my kind of music. Fave song: Ramble Tamble Honorable mention: Round the Bend
Its not bad but not amazing either. Feels like the average Californian Dude would love this. Favourite Song: I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Rock bom
I have heard nothing but praise for this group. I expected something more. Maybe if I had zero expectations I would've liked it more.
I thought it was a bit too slow but had some vibey songs.
I really liked the first song, but everything else after that just kinda mellowed along
Long live rock'n roll
They’ve got a great, classic sound. Their songwriting and playing doesn’t excite me as much as that of other rock bands from the same era, though. I think they are overrated as a band, but still nice listening. I could change my mind though, I’ll come back to this one eventually probably
Nice, gonna listen again soon
Yeah
Had Out My Back Door on it. LOVED that songs as a kid.
Pretty good, first full CCR album listen
Cover 6 Great songs. Could've been a great one but I can't stand Ooby Dooby. Ugh. Don't care for My Baby Left Me either.
n me agradou mto, mas é beeem ok
melhor que o último deles que apareceu por aqui ramble tramble tem uma guitarrada legal, mas de resto bem normalzim
This should be a 4 star album because the songs were good. But it loses a star for rambling (tamble) - tracks 1 and 10 I'm looking at you There was no need for their version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine to be 11 mins long. I do love that song but I kept checking and seeing that it was STILL going 3 ⭐️
3.5
Enjoyed this album.
Nice selection of country rock n' roll cuts mostly written by John Fogerty although what possessed CCR to do an 11 minute version of Heard It Through The Grapevine seems a bit off theme, even it is as a fair interpretation. Who'll Stop The Rain, Ramble Table and Up Around The Bend are standouts from Cosmo's Factory. 3/5
Great riffs. Good production. Pretty chill vibe overall. Knew about some of their songs, but I think this might be one of their greatest records. I think I'd give it a 7/10
CCR is growing on me working at Buddy guys just makes it a little hard to get into them. Specially this album everyone of these songs was played if not, three times at least twice a month not Creedence‘s fault. I did put this album on over the weekend and hit better. Shit in the backyard.
My husband loves CCR, but I am not a fan of swamp rock. CCR always makes me think of Emmet Otter's Jug-Band, which creeps me out a bit. I do like John Fogerty's politics for the most part. There's still so much swampy southern country-ness going on in this album, but somehow it's not awful (except for Ooby Dooby). Ramble Tamble is excellent. I like the tempo shift in Lookin Out My Backdoor. Run Through The Jungle is dark and kind of spooky, in a good way. Heard It Through The Grapevine is a decent (but long!) cover of a song I don't particularly like. There are a lot of "best of" songs here. So many of these songs are used in commercials that I feel like I now need to go buy an American-made truck. I'm still not a swamp rock fan, but I'll give this 3 stars and move on with my life.
listened at work, grungy instrumentals, liked it a lot more than I thought I would, something new and a change of pace, 3.5 but leaning towards 3, don't think I'll revisit it but I enjoyed it
die hatten schon was drauf damals
Perhaps it is telling about the imporatance of the band, but almost all of these sangs have been so over played in the backgound of my life that it was really hard for me to enjoy them. It wasn't that I had overly negative opinions of the band, I simply had no desire to seek out their music. After a concerted effort to put previous opinions aside and askin my son for a fresh perspective, it was clearer why this band was so popular. Plenty of solid hooks, backed by a mixture of blues, rock, county, even a little motown. One single after another. Perhaps, in part, due to its popularity the album epitomizes classic rock and in amny ways the music of the 70s. Normally, I will not give an album 3 stars if I have no intent of ever listening again, but that seems too harch in this case. Besides, even today, the idea that I will not be hearing most of these songs again, whether intentional or not, seems absurd.
Reasonably good rock, blues, country blues album. Cover versions are ok. The psyche-rock Ramble Tamble is a highlight.
me están saliendo de momento álbumes muy antiguos, pero bueno está ok. se nota de donde se inspiran los nuevos rockeros y todo me recuerda a Jim Jones JAJJS. otro album para poner de viaje o d fondo.
Weak 3, but pleasant
Creedence has a killer sound but their records do blend together
Man, this album just flows. You’ve got that blazing opener “Ramble Tamble” that starts off chill, then explodes into this jam that somehow works, and from there it’s just hit after hit. “Travelin’ Band,” “Up Around the Bend,” “Lookin’ Out My Back Door”… they all sound so effortless. Fogerty’s voice has that kind of scratchy, soulful energy that cuts through anything, and the guitars? Pure swampy rock and roll. It’s not overproduced, it’s not trying to be deep or flashy, it’s just solid, honest music that feels alive. Even the long cover of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” doesn’t drag like you’d think. They stretch it out, yeah, but it stays interesting. You can hear the band having fun with it. I wouldn’t say it reinvents anything, but it doesn’t need to. It’s just a group of guys locked in, playing tight, catchy tunes without filler. Every song’s got its own vibe, but the whole thing still fits together like a real album, not just a bunch of singles.
Ok Pojezdzilbym autem do tego w stanach
Love John Fogerty’s voice.
The shitty blues projects this list has given us so far may have put me off this kind of music for life, but this just about draws from enough sources & avoids the tropes of the genre enough for me to enjoy. Tracks like Who'll Stop the Rain show that its possible for this kind of music to be overtly political without feeling debased and unpoetic, and Long as I Can See The Light show how broad a range of influences the band is working with. It's not perfect. I Heard It Through The Grapevine didn't need to be that long and I think CCR knew it. Ooby Dooby is what I brace for when I'm about to hear a blues record, & that same 'doo-doo-do-doooo' scat rears its head throughout this. And of course, it's blues, so there's gotta be a track called 'My Baby Left Me'. But this all sounds good to me. Solid 3.
The album started with a couple really good rock/bluesy songs. But once you get into the more known southern bayou rock songs it's not as good. If they did more blues rock they would be awesome.
liked songs: Ramble Tamble, Up Around The Bend, Who'll Stop The Rain Pretty good 3.5
Me lo he pasado muy bien escuchando este álbum, muy Rock And Roll de los años 70 Nota:8/10 Canción favorita: Travelin' Band
Not bad.
I don't care to admit that up until the age of 18, I thought 'Creedence Clearwater Revival' were a cover band for another called 'Creedence Clearwater' 💀. This album had nothing that I disliked, but nothing I liked either. Feels like something you'd put on in the background playing pool.
This might be their silliest album - Ramble Tamble, Ooby Dooby - it was fun, but I can't say the lyrics are very powerful.
A little CCR goes a long ways.
Éste le conozco casi todos los temas por mi viejo. Lo que no conocía no me hizo nada. Pero aun así, muy fuerte, lleno de hitazos. Nota: 3.0
Good old fashioned blues rock. Straight down the middle delivery. When i spotted a cover of heard ot through the grapevine, i thought this could be good/interesting and i was right, it could have been, had they kept it tight and not stretched it out to over 11 minutes. Nothing wrong (if you ignore the extension to grapevine) with it but nothing to excite either.
I hovered between giving this 3* or 4* - it’s a decent album, with the standout obviously being “Up Around the Bend”, but some of it was just a bit middle of the road. Out of the covers on the album, I preferred “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” over the Roy Orbison cover, but it didn’t need to be over 10mins long.
I have a major issue where I expect every CCR song to at some point morph into Bad Moon Rising, and on this album at least it never happened. They certainly have "a sound". That's mostly due to that guy's voice, which a definitive rock and roll voice. I enjoyed this album, particularly Run Through The Jungle and Up Around The Bend which I already knew. I think this gets a 3 because I enjoyed it and would happily rap my foot to it if I heard it in the wild, but I can't see me choosing to put it on. 3/5
Niet mijn genre maar wel lekker albumpie.
idk
A great collection of songs but not a cohesive album
- ganz stimmiges, kurzweiliges Album - ein paar Lieder haben auch hervorgestochen "Run Through The Jungle", "Up Around the Bend" und noch ein paar mehr 3-4/5
This album was just ok for me; There were a couple of songs on the project that were overall enjoyable. '70s rock is an interesting area because I have very little perspective on it, but this seems to be a gauge of that era of music. So, for now, I'll give it a 3/5 and possibly change in the future as I gain more background.
This album was actually pretty good. Had a crazy 3 Track run with: “Lookin Out My Back Door” “Run Through The Jungle” “Up Around The Bend” Favorite Track: I Heard It Through The Grapevine (Shoutout Marvin Gaye)
I’m pretty sure “Up Around the Bend” is in Talladega Nights. That itched something in my brain.
The kings of swamp rock dropped an album with iconic tracks that have stood the test of time and are forever a part of American culture. Great mix of Blues, rock and R&B. 3.5/5
A dimly remembered album from the past but one which is not as good as I half remembered, done good tracks but some really standard rock and blues feel about it. Maybe I’m missing something I used to know?
kinda honky tonk
Apparently I’m not a big CCR fan. I respect them and what they brought to rock/rockabilly/country, but not something I’m going to choose to listen to often.
Not usually a CCR fan but this one was fun. 3.5/5 Favorites: Ramble Tamble, Up Around the Bend, Who'll Stop The Rain, I Heard It Through The Grapevine
+ Noen bra sanger
Noooo. But I knew it was coming; CCR are legit famous and also right in this project's wheelhouse. This album cover is moderately compelling and nicely symmetric. These guys sure like reduplication ('ramble tamble', 'ooby dooby'). They are one of the least objectionable bands in this style, I just really don't enjoy the style. But if you do, then you must love this! Lots of hits. Highlight: 'Up Around The Bend' (I didn't realise that's what they were saying until now!)
I like this, there's some good tracks. Not a fan of CCR and I think I prefer "Bayou Country" than this.
some classics but not worth saving
Before: I really like the CCR songs that I know! One of my favorite groups from that late 60’s-early 70’s era, even though I’m not as familiar as I would like to be. I think that Up Around the Bend is the only one I know from this album. Standout tracks: Ramble Tamble Up Around The Bend Weakest tracks: Ooby Dooby Before You Accuse Me (Take A Look At Yourself) Standout lyrics: “There’s garbage on the sidewalk, highways in the backyard, police on the corner” - Ramble Tamble “They’re sellin’ independence, actors in the White House, acid indigestion, mortgage on my life” - Ramble Tamble “I went down Virginia, seekin’ shelter from the storm. Caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow. Five Year Plans and New Deals, wrapped in Golden Chains, and I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the rain?” - Who’ll Stop The Rain During/after: WOOOO CCR knows how to write a protest song. Ramble Tamble is a great intro full of amazing, borderline psychedelic guitars and powerful, withstanding lyrics and messaging about capitalism and corporate greed in politics. The track demonstrates a further descent into a capitalist hellscape with each verse, separated by the “down the road I go” line and illustrated quite well by the steadily increasing tempo, up until the very ending and the final chord, which felt like a neatly tied bow. GREAT stuff. Before You Accuse Me (Take A Look At Yourself) was a disappointing song to transition into. We went from an impactful protest song to a schlocky, swingy song about a toxic relationship. I wasn’t a fan. Travelin’ Band was similar, but I liked it better. It felt very honky tonk and had some robust, gravelly vocals and fun sax. It felt a bit generic but was just a good time and was very Americana in a way that I love. Moving on to Ooby Dooby though… yikes. So goofy and SO annoying. It sounded like one of the cheesy early-mid 20th century dance songs (think Jitterbug), but like one that didn’t catch on because it just wasn’t enjoyable. Not good, I fear. I think I’ve heard Lookin’ Out My Back Door! The “doo doo doo” portions made my ears perk up a bit, because I definitely recognized it. I liked this one! It was (unless I’m just dumb lol) a fun representation of an experience with psychedelics (“look at all the happy creatures dancin’ on the lawn”). We’re back into the more classic, Americana rock with some neat guitar effects on Run Through The Jungle. It embodies the classic rock sounds of the time and was a solid, driving track overall. But thennn we got hit with UP AROUND THE BEND <3. I love this song so much lol. That guitar riff at the beginning makes my soul leave my body and enter a plane where it is instead fishing with my family in northern Michigan in July. It’s just a good, iconic song, full stop. My Baby Left Me is… fine. It wasn’t bad but felt like a filler song. One thing about CCR, they’re GONNA have questions about the rain. First it was if you’ve ever seen it, and now it’s who’ll stop it! Who’ll Stop The Rain is another politically-charged song (which I love), touching on similar themes to Ramble Tamble. It asks the same question that we are constantly pondering in 2022 - who WILL stop the bullshit that’s going on? The rain is still falling and no one has stopped it. Sonically this track is great too. There are some great chords and vocal harmonies. There’s something about the percussion I’m not digging, but there are some good mini guitar riffs, and this is an awesome song overall. I Heard It Through The Grapevine is LONG, clocking in at over 11 minutes. It kind of glazed over my ear a bit, but I liked it. It fit in well with the rest of the album and had impressive instrumentals. I loved Long As I Can See The Light as an ending. It was a mellower track that just felt like a good wrap-up and continued the lyrical themes that had been present throughout the rest of the record. The saxophone fit in perfectly and it was a beautiful song. This was a good record overall! I was a bit disappointed with the lack of political messaging that I thought I would get throughout the album based on the first track’s lyrics, but it was still fun overall. There were a few tracks that really brought the rating down, unfortunately - namely, Ooby Dooby (grrr) and Before You Accuse Me (Take A Look At Yourself). These bring a solid 4 star record down to a 3. I appreciated the themes of constant movement, travel, and getting away, as those are ones that I always like to hear in lyrics. Lookin’ Out My Back Door and Up Around The Bend were major standouts and made the record. I was really enjoying the air of Americana and the strong representation of that era of rock music. I love CCR but was hoping for some greater consistency in quality here. 3/5.
good, not really my thing but there is consistency and it’s good
Why so many CCR records? Eye roll
I consider myself a CCR fan, but I don't feel like time was kind to this album, which I don't fault the band for. There's classics here but the bluesy songs feel ruined by bad dive bar bands over time. "Ooby Dooby" is just plain annoying. And "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" doesn't earn it's 11 minute runtime.
gostei do clima do álbum, da atmosfera e dos devaneios de jams que eles fazem. tem muita musica boa, mas é repetitivo e, citando peter griffin: it insists upon itself
Did not enjoy the vocals but it was groovy and interesting.
gilti pležur bend, ipak prvi put slušam ovaj album u cijelosti. solidno, iako je otprilike polovica pjesama bezveze, lako se zaborave. koliko se sjećam, prethodni mi je album (willy and the poor boys) trunku bolji
It's Creedence. It's a party. Great fun. Favourite tracks: Ramble Tamble, Run Through The Jungle, Heard It Through The Grapevine
A bit too honky tonk. 6.5/10
I wasn’t in love with this album but appreciated its obvious influence on future music.
knew more songs than i thought...it's still crazy to me that they're not from louisiana or something. not something i could listen to all the time i would prob have to be on a roadtrip or wtv and even then i would prob get bored after a few tracks cuz they all start to sound the same. but i respect them...
Pretty solid!
Nice rock, great for background walk.
I felt almost nothing while listening to this even though I didn't dislike it
It brings me back to my roots. The songs sound like they have a southern drawl...stretched out, taking their time. Who'll Stop the Rain, Up Around The Band, Lookin' Out My Back Door...a lot of classics.

3.2 Coming a day after L.A Woman by the Doors it had a good recent benchmark. This was much better. The 50s throwback tracks let it down a bit but the blues bits were good. First track was great. Enjoyed the 11 minute rendition of Grapevine.
Half classic singles and half meh filler tracks. I truly think I’m going to lose my mind if I have to hear one more boring 12-bar blues song on a classic rock album, and this album has 4 of them! “Travelin Band” gets a pass because it’s badass, but “Before You Accuse Me”, “Ooby Dooby” and “My Baby Left Me” are about as low effort as it gets. But, an album that has Travelin Band, Lookin Out My Back Door, Run Through the Jungle, Up Around the Bend, Who’ll Stop the Rain, and Heard It Through the Grapevine literally ain’t half bad.
A solid album with some timeless classics. More of a 3.5 to me.
Yeah. It's alright, I suppose.
objektian toteutuminen keskiarvo menetelmä
Above standard album that features almost every type of "Rock" style oft the time. However, it also mixes in country (which I think is a detriment) and feels a little bloated overall. 3.5/5
3.5
first track is an absolute banger and i'm thrilled to add it to my rotation. the rest of it is normal CCR
Just gonna straight up quote another review cause I agree with it “ok it seems like a four-worthy album to be honest but i really don't have the urge to listen to any of these songs again and its not” my type of music so three it is.” My thoughts exactly
Great sound, needed a few more songs
MOOOOOOOVEEEEEEE... DOWN THE ROAD I GO. Chill ass dad rock. Gets better on every listen. Big fan of Ramble Tamble.
Blind album, know the artist and the hits. The hits were clearly hits for a reason and the rest of the album does not compare.
This is the 3.5 just under 4 zone for me. Love most of the music, but at times I was a little bored
The 70s before the 70s even began. Not bad for Boomer rock
Full of classic songs, but admittedly some of these songs do drag on, while others feel too short. Favorites: Looking Out My Back Door, Up Around The Bend Rating: 3 1/2 out of 5
Some very popular songs
Just fine. Don't feel I need to return to it anytime soon.
Already listened
That's Credence alright, only one band that sounds like Credence right? Right?
Who’ll stop the rain(на удивление спокойная, философская и очень красивая песня) и I heard it through the grapevine(11-минутная песня с захватывающим ритмом и интересными вокальными фишками) залетели в мой плейлист как родные.
Good, but about what you’d expect.
Not my favorite CCR album
way better than lot of other albums from this time period. who'll stop the rain best track on album. solid 3.5
This is the second CCR album I've had so far on this list, and I think by this album their creative juices were fading. There's a bit to much chugging along in some tracks.
Zweimal hintereinander und Fazit bleibt fast das Gleiche. Sicher auf der besseren Seite der 70er.
Buen disco, con la estupenda "Who'll stop the rain"
I don’t dislike this at all but I don’t think I have ever in my life thought “gee I’d really like to listen to CCR right now.” Sorry mom.
Totdat...: Die verschrikkelijke Heard it through the grapevine cover. Jammer joh. FAVO: Ramble Tamble, Up Around the Bend, Long as I can see the light
CCT. Great band, great music. 70’s classic band.
It's consistently good blues rock but I don't really feel much more than that. Up Around The Bend is the second song in about a week to give me Guitar Hero flashbacks and I learned today that Eric Clapton didn't write 'Before You Accuse Me'. In fact I then learned that CCR didn't write it either. So there you go. Three times through but nothing that blew me away.
Another album from the early 70s or late 60s with a cover to really rewrite the books of history? Oh, no, it didn't.
OK
John Fogerty is very talented and the driving force behind Creedence. Too bad the boys couldn’t get along. He wrote some great songs, but I never felt compelled to buy any of their music. It was/is Ho hum to me.
Creedence har alltid känts bra vid en genomläsning för att sen bli tråkiga och förutsägbara.jag antar att det är samma nu. Trea.
Another great intro track on a 70s album - maybe that was a 'thing'? Ramble Tamble is 7 mins and I Heard It Through The Grapevine sits at 11, and everything else barely makes 3 minutes. These are the most progressive rock pieces, and that probably is why I like them most. I already knew and liked Up Around the Bend too. Good, old school rock. Alt-J's 'Left Hand Free' was probably trying to capture this vibe.
Probably actually 4-stars, but didn't hit as much as I thought it would.
Just Classic Rock.
Good fun blues. Decent.
Never listed before really good album
Des pièces aux forts accents blues et marquées par l'imaginaire musical et lyrique des États-Unis. Entraînant, mais sans plus d'intérêt pour moi
John Fogerty is one of the hardest-working and most painfully exploited stars of the 1960s. What Fantasy Records did to him is nothing short of criminal. Nevertheless, before he realized what a mess he had gotten himself into, he and the band poured themselves into recording and performing live for an intense and brief period, and honestly, as a result, I have a hard time distinguishing one record from the next. They had a sound, they refined it, and they played the mother-loving bejesus out of it. So 5 stars for the work ethic, but 1 star for country-rock-blues.
As much as I want to like CCR, I just can't. The "bayou blues" sound just is painful to my ears. Obviously, they had a lot of talent, and there is a lot to the songwriting, and their influence and impact was huge, so I'm bumping this up to a 3. However, I just can't go higher than that based on my own personal (lack of) enjoyment and the fact that many bands I like most were not the ones influenced by them.
I had Led Zeppelin IV the other day. It stressed me out because it was too intense and there’s too much weird shit going on. Here we have the polar opposite. Straight down the middle, simple blues rock. I got a little bored because it’s got no balls and there’s not enough weird shit going on. There must be a happy medium?
some recognizable songs
It wasn't as good as the last album by CCR I reviewed. There were no original tracks I could recognise. The songs were better than Paul Weller's "Wild Woods". "Cosmo's Factory" is a brilliant title for an album. It's nearly been a year since I started reviewing albums. 3 stars for "Cosmo's Factory".
better than their other one but still not particularly my cup of tea 3.5 (7 out of 10)
Funky! Was over before I knew it. Good stuff, but nothing mind-blowing.
This is my second CCR album on here, after Green River, which came out just over a year earlier, albeit with an album in between. I wasn't a huge fan of it. I was pleased to find this one better. As "Ramble Tamble" started, my expectations weren't high, but it goes into this ethereal, markedly un-bluesy instrumental in the middle. Love it. Even their bluesier songs, which I didn't enjoy on Green River, are better here. "Travelin' Band" has some great sax. Of course, there's "Run Through the Jungle", which transports you straight to Vietnam. There's even a cover of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" with an extended jam. So, while still largely being something I wouldn't put on to listen to, I quite enjoyed it. More variety. Exceeded expectations. Fav tracks: Ramble Tamble, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Run Through the Jungle, Up Around the Bend, I Heard It Through the Grapevine
Yeah, okay. Some classics, a little dated though.
dad rock that somehow everything sounds incredibly familiar also they were first to sign on to Woodstock sot hats cool
2.8 - J 2.5 - S
Seconds half was stronger than the first. Tracks 1-5 are a 2* for me and 4* for the rest. Really nice long version of Grapevine.
Not entirely to my taste but still some good tracks on here. Overall a good album but for me not a classic
A 1970 album that sounds like ’50s Rock, Blues and Country, and somehow less progressive. I guess it was a nostalgic throwback. Decently enjoyable still (the second half might be stronger, which rarely happens), thought I’m unlikely to revisit any of this material.
Decent record I liked the vibe they were going for overall. Like the grapevine cover thought it was unique. Just think some of the songs could have had a bit more punch too them like previous CCR albums but still solid listen. 7.5/10
ramble tamble isch suuper geil. sehr lang aber ich lieb wies ufbaut und so. before you accuse me mega en bluesklassiker glaub und jo ich ha gern ich mag blues jo guilty. travelin band easy langwilig, aso s tönt immerno wie ccr und da heisst guet aber laangwilig. dasselbe gilt für ooby dooby. würkli en filler-song. lookin out my back door baaanger uff yes. meh country hammer. run through the jungle isch cool, geils riff en uhuere vibe. around the bend und my baby left me sind etz nöd soo spannend. wholl stip the rain isch nice aber au kei meisterwerk. grapevine isch halt nöd de marvin? de song isch insaaaane aber marvin version zu guet. was 11 minute lang?? okaay? z lang, hett chöne vier minuten sii. long as i can see the light het mega schös rhodes/wurli? seehr geil spielt.
Liked it, lots of familiar songs here.
I liked the intro but all in all it all felt quite jangly and hard to distinguish one song from another.
Fine album. Country/rock.
Contains at least 40% of the songs I know from the radio on one album. That’s worth something I’m sure.
Who doesn’t get down to CCR?
67/100. While undeniably iconic, this album didn’t quite hit the mark in terms of satisfaction for me. It’s an alright listen. Decent, but not dazzling.
recently poked fun at some gen-z folk singer on tiktok for doing CCR-esque vocal affectations in some pass at maturity as if fogerty himself didn't record the prime shit when he was (checks notes) 24 years old this is, in all likelihood, a 4 but it is straight up just not my jam. grapevine cover goes hard tho
Some great songs on here but never cracks into a 4 for me, unfortunately.
I like Creedence and this was pretty good, but I’m knocking a point off for the cover of I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Nowhere near as good as Marvin Gaye’s
Again, another solid album from them. Weirdly, I had never heard of 'Ooby Dooby' until yesterday when it was used in a film I was watching. Favourite song was ' Run through the jungle'
It was fine, didn’t really stand out but quite enjoyed it as background music.
Look the album is good but there was just something missing for me. Typically many genres on the album are my vibe. I enjoyed the blended genres and their take on some covers - I really enjoyed Heard It rendition despite it being 11 minutes. But it also felt slightly disingenuous in some songs. I think this is one I’d need to listen to again, and maybe I’d want to revisit the rating (if I could) after spending more time with it.
che figata, mi sembrava di essere dentro un film americano ambientato in campagna nella Bayou. alcune canzoni però sono veramente troppo, TROPPO, lunghe
overall a good album
Better than I expected. More genre range than I thought CCR had, which was surprising.
Sometimes you just want an album of good old fashioned swampy blues and southern fried rock ‘n’ roll to stomp along to. Creedence Clearwater Revival might not be the world’s greatest band, but they really sound like they’re enjoying themselves on this and it’s infectious. Does this earn them a place in this list? Yes, if only for their audacious eleven minute cover version of ‘Heard it through the Grapevine’ which is a whole lot of fun. Bayoutastic!
Enjoyed it if a bit hokey in places, good ol’ boys!
Favorite songs: Run Through The Jungle, Who’ll Stop The Rain, I Heard It Through The Grapevine
it has a lot of the singles you may know from CCR. its a good album. some of it comes of as derivative blues rock ripped from the originators, but they do a pretty good job of delineating themselves in a densely packed genre. they meander into some whimsical jam forays. not my favorite. but it has its moments. rock for people that dont want to try to hard or feel any unease.
кантри 4/10
Its not bad its just not rly my jam
would listen again
This was a good partner to the Muddy Waters record because it was similar but the added variety made me enjoy it more.
listened before
5 songs in - feels like a 2.5 but good enough for 3, reminds me too much of year 7/8 prom dancing enjoyed 6 through 10, bumps it up to a solid 3 now.
From the first track, I thought this might get as high as a 4* rating, but around “Ooby Dooby,” it started to lose me. This was my favorite of the CCR albums I’ve listened to so far, and probably between a 3 and 4. Favorite track: Ramble Tamble
A few hits that are obviously well known and great but the album overall didn't appeal to me.
More blues-y rock than I expected from Creedence Clearwater Revival. Good stuff.
While I acknowledge the legacy and influence these gentlemen gave to American Rock, it's mostly not for me. That being said, Who'll Stop The Rain and Around The Bend are pretty good tunes.
Started off very strongly with Ramble Tamble but the rest of the album didn’t quite live up to that opener. Some good songs, some not quite so good.
The fifth record by CCR sounds promising to begin with - the title alludes to space rock and 'Ramble Tamble' has some cool psychedelic elements. But Cosmo's Factory quickly digresses into familiar CCR territory with catchy, but ultimately quite uninteresting rock compositions. With 11 tracks, one could easily have omitted two of the rock 'n' roll covers and still ended up with a solid record. 'Run Through the Jungle', 'Up Around the Bend' and 'Heard It Through The Grapevine' are great, but they are not enough on their own to really make the album shine.
A mixed bag, this one. Some nice songs (incl. the opening track) but half of the songs are quite boring 12-bar blues or classical Rock and Roll, which survive mostly because because of John Fogerty's recognisable voice which is the main asset of the album for me.
There are many hit songs on here and the guitar work is exceptional - but I never really liked the Caly Bayou sound of Credence. Listenable, but not exciting.
Maybe 15% of this album was good. But most was just repetitive and for too long as well. I got bored. I didn't mind it, but I probably wouldn't listen to it again. Heard it Through The Grapevine was good. Just 3 stars from me.
Has some nice riffs and moments i very much enjoyed, but other than in 'heard it through the grapevine' the songs seemed to either waffle too much, or just to degenerate into a kind of bluegrass american south thing i could just as easily get from Cash.
Bueno
A pretty listenable CCR album.
It definitely gave a boost on my Friday afternoon at work!
Fun songs with a couple standout tracks (Who'll Stop the Rain). I enjoyed it, but I likely won't listen again
- surprisingly good production for its time. - vocal melodies stolen??!! - a lot of short n sweet songs, mixed with longer progressive songs. - goofy ah album cover - tempo ramps... nice. - maybe the best album to play at a bar. - drum sound is great and very similar to the other ccr albums. - cool guitar tones, specially during solos and licks. - LOVE Fogerty's voice - mix is a little too basic. - "I Heard Through The Grapevine" has a little too much filler on it. compared to "Ramble Tamble" it lacks interesting and unique song structure. inspired licks, solos and riffs, and for the most part just lacks meaning on the record. Im feeling a high 3.
Loro suonano per le intro dei film adolescenziali anni 80
John Fogertys voice is iconic. What I would listen to if I was a Vietnam draftee. The songs definitely stand out individually, but most didn't draw me in outside of the first. A great energy/mood. Fun. Fav Tracks: Ramble Tamble Least Fav Tracks: Before You Accuse Me Ratings: Personal 3/5 Critical 5/5
It was okay.
Fun summer dad rock album, a few familiar tunes.
Mostly boring.
Always turned my nose up on CWD, may need to reconsider
who knew all these hits were on the same album
Не сильно в меня попало
Pretty good
Cool 70-s record. Reminds me of the times I loved The Doors and others.
What can I say other than it was a good time
I can see why a lot of people like this, but I don't. I love John Forgerty's voice, I love the rhythm playing on this album, I love the interesting sound choices on some of the songs, but I only added 4 songs from this album to my playlist and out of those 4, I liked 2 50/50.
Tight and compact, but mired in mediocrity. Perhaps slightly more ambitious in terms of having a few longer songs (though duration is not a fully relevant metric), and while there’s thankfully slightly less of the faux-swampiness, there’s limited experimentation and very little reaching. There are distinct, if faint, echoes of jumping the shark – how much more could be wrung from the tired formula of okay hooks and inoffensive grooves? “Travelin’ Band” and “Ooby Dooby” and “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” (should rightfully be entitled “Doo, doo, doo”) are all just annoying. Is the world a better place for their rendition of “Grapevine”, with a six-minute instrumental close-out with nary a surprising turn? "Long As I Can See the Light" gets over the not-terrible bar, but most of the rest is just stock, commoditized musical product. That they released albums at the pace of Minutemen songs seems more interesting than the songs themselves, which tells you why and how this record is imminently skippable and utterly forgettable, if a fully traceable artifact of one era’s mainstream tastes. In younger days, friends with iffy tastes overvalued the Chronicle compilation because they recognized all the tunes and thought there were no bad songs (like so many annoying albums of the time); efficiency of Greatest Hits over quality, they seemed to prefer, liking the comfort of the known more than the potentially dizzier pleasures of the new; they knew what they liked and wanted nothing more. Today, we call CCR content producers.
CCR is such a big name I really felt like I should've known what to expect, but I really didn't know this band well. The music was much more traditional 60s/70s rock than I thought, and I guess that's just not my favorite genre. Although the whole album was fine, with a few songs I really quite liked (*Lookin out my back door* and *Who'll stop the rain*), it was a surprisingly long 42 minutes and 38 seconds, especially with a start of a 7 minute song. I guess not all songs can be Bad Moon Rising.
No shortage of hits on this one. Probably their most complete album. I do like their version of I Heard It On The Grapevine but I do understand why many others don't like it. Too dad rock at times but still listenable.
Most mornings, when my album pops up, I'll send a screenshot to my wife. This morning I sent a screenshot of this album with a crying emoji and a puke gif. Because I do not tend to like 50s and 70s music, and since this project seems to LOVE those two decades I feel like I have a constant onslaught of 60s and 70s albums. To say I was not excited is an understatement. But I have to tell you, it was much better than I expected. The first three songs were terrific! it loses a bit of steam after that, but there isn't really a "bad" song in the bunch. This is a solid 3 trending to 3.5.
Standard rock fare
8/19/24. Didn't expect a complete blues album by CCR, but enjoyed this one! Mostly tracks I've never heard of by the band.
ramble tamble- if a song is 7 minutes or longer it needs to be damn good. 6 before you accuse me- 5 travelin band- 5 ooby dooby- .... you mean tutti frutti? 4 looking out my backdoor- 6 or 7 run through the jungle- 5 up around the bend- his voice sounds like someone doing an impression of him. 5 my baby left me- 4 wholl stop the rain- 6 i heard it through the grapevine- spotify wont stop pausing and glitching the song and i just dont want to bother long as i can see the light- 4 i really dont think this was an album i had to hear before i died. i think i couldve done something else with my time. fav track- looking out my back door
Ultimately it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. The albums openers are incredible! They were much more musically/conceptually ambitious than I thought a CCR record could be. Unfortunately it started to taper for me in the middle of the project. There are some bangers but there are also some real bad “CCR does Little Richard” vibes on here as well! The music is fun and hard to hate but it’s not a lot to chew on.
It’s fine. I know people love it, but it’s beer tent background music to me.
I liked every part right up until the last two songs; they just didn’t grab my attention.
What am I missing here? I think that this is a perfectly enjoyable album, but I don't think it's anything too special, just feels like a pretty standard 70s dad rock album to me.
Comercial Rockabilly Success.
In an alternate universe, every song on this album sounds like "Ramble Tamble". In that alternate universe, this is in my top 10 albums of all time. CCR have zero relevance in my part of the world. I have never heard any of these songs in my life, which seems insane, because some of them have the most Spotify streams I've ever seen outside of modern pop.
3.5/5
I can confidently say this is the best album by a band I really don’t care for. Fogerty’s false identity in the band’s music just never sat quite right with me. I’m not upset by it or even bothered, just something about it feels inauthentic. But the hits don’t lie. This album is stacked.
