Boring, but strangely, it's perfect. 5/5

Outstanding

Weltklasse.

Such fun memories. Love all of it. Can't help but move and tap your foot.

I have always been a fan of ZZ Top. There’s something about a hard rocking, power trio that speaks to me. This is a great album.

Tutumpaa tavaraa taas listalla. 5/5

What a rush! College days flash back. Love this album.

Too biased to rate this objectively. I fucking love this album, despite (and probably a little because of) the greasy, sleazy film dripping off it.

One of the best albums of the decade

I wanna know how many fans from this era were just a couple years earlier protesting disco. I know you’re out there, we see you! Anyways, perfect album for the jump start the eighties.

I have never heard a bad ZZ Top album. Solid rock/blues album, even the songs that didn't get radio play are good.

Also legendary

I think this site is doing that thing where after giving me a really bad album, it gives me a really great one. And this time it's going from Sex Packets to Eliminator. This album is an absolutely great time. I'm aware of some of it's singles due to hearing them on the radio back when i listened to my local classic rock station (before i switched to the alt rock one) but they are still fantastic songs. This album also feels like a major step up from Tres Hombres (most likely due to the fact this album came 10 years later) by sounding a lot less basic and having quite a bit of depth with all the synthy sounds. I really love this album and think that it more than deserves it's spot on this list. Best Song: TV Dinners Worst Song: I Got the Six

Irgendwie sind die an mir vorbeigegangen, aber das war richtig gut!

Solid, easy to get through and great on headphones

ZZ Top goes away from their raw sound, and 80s it up a bit. And, it works! A bunch of hits, MTV hits, and fun stuff to turn up in the car. 43 years later, I still have the CD, still listen to it, and still crank it up. 5.0

"Let's sing about something different, not just the same loved up stuff others are on. What's no-one singing about? TV dinners. Let's write a song about TV dinners."

ZZ Top rips

да епт ток вчера его слушал ну нормальный роцк, качает, люблю ЗЗ топ

Instant 5-star rating! I love this album!!

Pure 80's southern rock!

Great album Great vibe Great songs Would absolutely listen to again 5 9th Of January

Back when men weren’t picky and wrote some shit like “she’s got legs”…

Class! 5 ⭐

Excellent. Some of their best songs

Got me under pressure

Fun album

These bastards get what they’re doing to a tee. Cartoonish yet straightforward corporate blues rock. A non-metal Texan AC/DC and this is their Back in Black.

I loved and love it for ever*`

Bluesy, boogye, rockye, gotta love ZZ

Excellent rock

great stuff!

Hell yeah! I listened to ZZ Top a little bit too late in life. I used to listen to La Grange, love it, and that's it. But then I heard for the first time the first chords from Sharp Dressed Man, playing on the radio some ramdom day, and boy... that 80's atmosphere hitting you like a ton of lead it's something mind blowing. And then I listened to Gimme All Your Lovin on the GTA V radio station (proovin once more that GTA franchising mold the most of my music taste) and then I was the one giving all of my love to this band. I love all of the albuns, 5 stars to any of them.

Tämä on tuttu jo 80-luvulta. Vaikka bändin soundimaailma muutti koneellisempsan suuntaan, tykkään siitä. Todella hyviä biisejä! Täyden vitosen levy!

Fantastic! A classic!

Культовый альбом, один из любимых в 80-е! 8,5 из 10.

I listened to this while in the gym. It was fun, the synth-meets electric/blues licks was quite a lot of fun . The lyrics are a bit bogus, but I feel like ZZtop had other things on their mind. I don't think I quite appreciate Gibbons' guitar playing enough. He plays really well. Tv dinners is a bit crap, and the album is a tad ironic. But it's still a decent find! Not my favourite ZZtop album.. 5 stars though.. just.

A great rock amd roll album. Sometimes doing something simple to a high standard is all that is needed. Bar that TV dinner album, all songs were enjoyable, flowed, and did the job. A great album to just relax to, or drink to, do almost any task to. Plus, she's got legs, a classic

Banger of an album. Pretty sure I've heard this album before, but good to get into it again, since pretty much all ZZ Top's hits are on this one. A little front loaded, since all the big songs are in the first half, but the second half songs certainly aren't filler. Great stuff.

discazo , cada canción eleva la atmosfera del álbum , de la esencia noventera que tiene ,guitarras con el mismo patrón con el buen acompañamiento de voz y canciones que marcan diferencia como legs o mi favorita del disco "I need you tonigh".

One of the best!

It had the car. it had the girls. it HAD the hits. Most of all, it had songs. And they were catchy and ready for primetime. MTV's infancy made this happen. and it happened. GREAT album. Listen to it again for the first time. It's worth it.

Sounds like Grant Seafood Festival music

Classic rock beautifully done

A true Classic! I’ve been listening to this album my whole life. To me this is an UNTOUCHABLE body of work! Grooves for days, strong vocals, piercing guitar riffs, beautiful writing, an all around gem.

This album goes hard asf

ZZ Top is one of those bands I've always been aware of and I've heard some of their hits, but I've never thought about how iconic, different and impactful they were before. They have a very recognizable guitar that I think I might now be able to associate with them correctly. Standouts Gimme All Your Lovin' Sharp Dressed Man 5/5

No mega przyjemne. Mój styl muzyki. 5/5

I had heard of ZZ Top, but never really listened to them closely. It is rocking - this is the intensity and vibe I love. It's horny, it's silly, it's super fun. Honestly, I'm just a sucker for 80's rock and I'm going to start embracing it more. Song specifics: Sharp Dressed Man is SO good. TV Dinners is such an odd topic, is it a metaphor for something I dont understand?

There was some really good tracks on this album. Enjoyed it a lot.

Banging album. Good fun. Every track was a bop - probably very underrated in the grand scheme of things.

Amazing, not overcomplicated rock album. This one just makes me want to drive off in a nice old classic American car into the sunset. However, I think it might be better that I don´t do that, might save me quite a few speeding tickets. 5/5

This album is pretty close to perfect. Front to back these Bearded Wonders put together one of the best rock albums I have had the pleasure listening to.

Fantastic album. This is what guitars are meant to sound like.

Gimme all your loving, Got me Under Pressure, and Sharp Dressed Man is just banger after banger. I Need You Tonight slows things down in a way I don't quite love but picks right back up, hitting another classic Legs and keeps on rocking through the end of the 34 minute album

Absolute classic. Music actually sounds super repetitive but nothing like some ZZ Top to make you feel like you’re slaying ducks and sipping sweet tea, Jack.

Truly hoping “TV Dinners” makes my Spotify wrapped. I listened to the song 5 more times after I finished the album.

i wasn’t expecting a lot from this record, but let me tell ya… i had a rough day delivering senior meals for work. it was horrible. but i popped this album on and magic ensued. such a great rock record!!! the songs are phenomenal, the cheeky witty lyrics for some of the songs are great, and specifically, the musicianship!! 5/5!

Great album. No doubt one of the classics

Great album, I saw these guys live in 2024 and they still sounded just like they do on this album! Consistently great tracklist and performance.

This might be a slightly biased review because ZZ Top is one of my dad’s favorites and, while listening to them, I can’t help but think about how my dad loves this shit. But I can absolutely see why he loves them. Sure, a lot of the lyrics are silly, and most of the songs sound similar. But they all have incredible guitar and cool grooves.

Reminds me of dad

Brilliant, landmark album.

Amazing, classic album. I've heard a lot of the songs before and loved them, but even the one's I'd never heard before were really good.

Iconic album and sound. Standouts: Gimme All Your Lovin', Legs, Sharp Dressed Man, TV Dinners, Got Me Under Pressure. 5/5

The epitome of classic rock

The album is a classic and a fine line successfully straddled between blues rock and synth, proving that Gibson Lee Pauls and MiniMoogs could peacefully coexist on the same record. But my favorite memory associated with this album still remains the incident in 1984 when Black Flag invaded the DJ booth at a club they were playing in London and made the DJ play this album from beginning to end before they’d even go onstage and play.

Needs more love

Fun album. I can dig.

Rockin, if I could only flag her down and bad girl are great.

"Sharp Dressed Man" is better than about 80% of the classic rock songs released in the first half of the 80's and it's still the worst song on this album. Five stars.

It does not get much better. Classic rock guitar playing heroes that will live on forever. ZZ will never be eliminated.

ZZ Top caught lightning in a bottle with Eliminator--multiple top 40 hits, 10 million copies sold in the US, and MTV awards. But it wasn't easy getting there, as it was a breakthrough more than a decade in the making--this was ZZ Top's 8th album in 12 years. They had some prior success with albums and tours and top songs "Just Got Paid," "La Grange" and "Tush," but it was Eliminator and MTV videos that put ZZ Top in front of a broader audience. They experimented with their sound style compared to prior albums, but being together for so long made their sound tight. Eliminator rocks! Full, heavy driving bass & drums, blues-influenced tracks, fun lyrics, grizzled-voice harmonies, and great solos, this album has it all! I never get tired of listening to these tracks. Definitely in my road-trip rotation!

Is there a limited number of riffs? Maybe. Do I care? No, I love this album. It’s a 5 5.0/5.0 Best Song: Legs

Was real good. Think the album has held up through the ages (unlike the Legs video that has not really held up - though was probably super influential at the time).

I lovei it the album, is the kind of musci that I used like

Man this list is very rock heavy so far… I’m hoping for more varied genres further down the line. Anyway, 90s kids like me have 80s pop culture forced down our throats our entire lives, and I, for one, absolutely guzzled it up. This album is so much fun. I love New Wave; it always makes me feel like I’m living in Back To The Future. The opening 2 tracks are my favourite, but the whole thing is so enjoyable and listenable. I have a feeling this will be one I revisit over and over.

Sharp dressed man.

perfect

Hyper varié en fait !

This album annoys. I don’t want to like it (because I know how it was made.) But I do like it. Good album.

Smooth as 80g sandpaper but not offensively

Most excellent! :) I forgot how much fun they ZZ Top are to listen to! :)

What can I say? I like dad rock.

Pants men

The zenith of ZZ Top. They finally merged their 70s guitar sound with some very effective synths. In my opinion, it is the only ZZ Top album that matters. I didn't know at the time that Billy Gibbons was into the sounds of Depeche Mode and Al Jourgensen's Ministry, but it becomes quite clear in hindsight.

Always love ZZ Top. They and Flea were the reason I started playing bass. This is a mature version of an otherwise immature band. They have all the power of arena rockers with all the grit of the Texas Blues sound that built the band. With that said, as I get older and fussier, a full album composed mostly of lechery starts to feel more disgusting to me, so enter at your own risk.

Long ago on VH1 Classic, I watched Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath describe ZZ Top as "Good ol' Texas Boogie" There's something special about hearing those words in a thick Birmingham accent, and it has always stuck with me. But how right he was. ZZ Top is always a good time, and its pretty impressive how well they made the jump from 60's blues rock to 80's synth rock stars. This album is commercial and poppy as hell, but it is undoubtedly some good ol Texas boogie. This album's gotta be one of the best examples of a band clearly aiming for the masses, while staying true to their roots. Also Billy Gibbons is and has long been one of my guitar idols (and remember when he played Angela's dad on Bones?) Album cover: (A+) A better match of sound a visuals is hard to find.

Fantastic

Perfect album to put on and kick back with the old lady.

ZZ Top are obviously legends. But I didn't expect so many great songs on one album. Tough to pick just one for the 1001 best songs playlist but going with "Gimme All Your Lovin'" as it's the most groovable, imo. Not a bad track on the album. ~ 5 Stars

All bangers front to back, I didn't think I would like this one as much as I did.

I really liked this one! I knew a few songs from this album already (Blame my parents during the 1980s :D, but I don't mind.). I didn't really note down my impressions of each song, probably because I was dancing throughout it most of the time, but my favourites were: * Got Me Under Pressure * Sharp-Dressed Man * I Got The Six * Dirty Dog It also HEAVILY reminded me of a few movies I loved watching growing up. I think I need to listen to more ZZ Top, after all. My rating: 9/10.

Loved this, never heard it before

Soft spot: this album sounds like childhood. I probably "ought" to be more critical of it than I am, but... aw hell, Eliminator was released after I was conceived but before my mom figured out she was going to BE a mom, it's in that very distinct Nostalgia Zone for me. It's just a good listen for me. Biased as hell 5 stars.

All killer no filler great album

9/10…southern-blues rock

Very solid album. Amazing that only 3 guys produced all that sound! The album plays like a collection of greatest hits.

Nostalgic listening time! One of the first cassettes I ever owned, and the album as a whole, still doesn’t disappoint. Obviously Legs, Sharp Dressed Man and Gimme All Your Lovin , were all over the radio and MTV but all the other songs on the album are bangers in their own way!

Great rock album start to finish.

Groovy southern rock goodness, didn't realise how much good b side material ZZ top had. Really good listen

Great. Loved the guitar.

Greste Rock n Tolk album.

Such a mood boosting, toe tapping, dance inducing album.

ZZ Top’s Eliminator is a defining album of the 80s, fusing blues rock with slick synthesisers and a radio-friendly edge. Packed with iconic tracks like Sharp Dressed Man and Legs, it’s a fun, stylish, and energetic ride that cemented the band’s place in rock history.

I have this album on vinyl. It's a good listen. The hits from this album cannot be denied. They hit you with an infectious groove right from the start, and it delivers consistently throughout the album

Every song sounds the same but they’re all bops

A masterpiece! Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man and Legs are brilliant! All other tracks are perfect.

Love this album, like earlier ZZ Top but dancier and more upbeat. Love the riffs and the rocky blues sound.

ZZ Top was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. This album made me happy.

A classic album by ZZ Top. The hits are timeless.

Ist es immer das Gleiche? Ja, es ist nicht vielfältig. Aber es klingt einfach geil und es ist lustig

Classic

Is it the best album ever? No. Is it the most technical, well performed album ever? Also no. But what it is is an honest, fun as hell, catchy, and charismatic record that's impossible for me not to smile and nod to

Who cares if it’s all drum machines and synthesizers, it moves and grooves

Two tallboys way up

I listened this in remaster, but I think I'll still give this 5 stars if I listen to the original.

Sort of giving me Bob Seger lyrics. Enjoying this.

ZZ Top acending to the top of their carreer with a mix between blues and rock. This album contains the top hits "Sharp Dressed Man", "Gimme All Your Lovin" and "Legs".

It was good

Это гениальный Альбом! Скорее всего когда я прослушаю все 1001 одну пластинку, эта всё равно останется одной из любимых!!!

Fantastic album. Start to finish. Very tight. A little samey but that's OK.

No skips.

So many jams. I know ZZ top from the *absolutely wild* stuff my dad would listen to while working on his motorcycles, so I honestly had no idea he had songs that were not completely from outerspace. Every single song on this record is a banger.

great album, shaking ass

I want to make a smoothie now.

Best three opening songs on an album, ever? Yeah I think so.

Great! 5/5

Splendid stuff

Great album. I love ZZ top and their gritty gasoline fuelled ruggedy rock. It's packed with energy and sounds good, even though the lyrics might not be much haha. All I can think of is blue jeans, hot rods, and the open road.

Finally something I can get my ear holes stuck into! This is the kind of thing I’ve been waiting for. Some iconic songs and lovely sounding guitar. Love that Frank Beard made a living out of playing the exact same drum beat in every single song, and also love that he was the only member not to have a beard. It’s a big fat succulent 5 stars from me, putting ZZ Top of my rankings.

One of my parents favorites, and I can understand why. Killer tunes and great fun.

It’s very good I already knew I liked it before

You know how I said Highway to Hell was some perfectly serviceable classic rock? Well, to paraphrase a great thinker of our time, finally, some good fucking classic rock. I can't remember when I last would have listened to this as an album, if ever (I sure as hell don't remember ever hearing Thug before), but this is just bangers all the way down - taut, propulsive, riff-driven country rock, cocky without being pretentious, and just straight-up good fun.

What can I say, it's a stone cold classic of the genre - I know I grew up with this and nostalgia may be playing a heavy part in this rating, but each song hits just right - solos are great but don't outset their welcome, songs tend to be just as long as they need to be, and it's just generally amazing! I took apart ACDC for their incessant talking about sex and women, but here there's at least a self-deprecating current running underneath it all that shows that ZZ Top aren't taking themselves too seriously - the songs end up with them being snubbed by or scared of women, eating meals alone and wondering what to do next, which gives the whole album a playful side that I honestly really enjoy. Easy five stars. Faves: Got Me Under Pressure, Sharp Dressed Man, Thug (that slap bass line!)

80s at its finest.

Goddamn this makes me want to get drunk.

Loved it!

If you grew up in the 1980’s ZZ were on Top of the World and you couldn’t hide from them. Most of their “Best of…” came off this album. One of the favorite songs (…I admit it’s misogynistic but compared to their earlier work this is church ready…) “Legs” combined Frank Beards’ steady drive behind the set with Billy Gibson’s Texas-blue-eyed blues riffing and vocal scratch and Dusty Hills rhythmic bass with synthesized backings. It’s one of those songs that makes you want to run a marathon (I think I did use this for the Bolder Boulder playlist). But the hits don’t stop there! Other songs include Got Me Under Pressure, Gimme All Your Lovin’ , Sharp Dressed Man, and six more just for fun. Honestly, fair weather ZZTop fans can get a way with two albums: Eliminator and Tres Hombres, which are exactly ten years apart. So strap on your beard and let’s roll boys! This is a classic!

This was for me, peak ZZTop. Just the icing on the cake-pinnacle of their catalogue.

While a bit inconsistent this is a true classic with some truly amazing songs.

Добротный альбом, хард-рок с налётом 80-ых, есть прекрасные баллады.

Just a great album to listen to from start to finish.

Really good

I didn’t realize I knew this band until the Silk Suit Black Tie song from Duck Dynasty. Really enjoyed it!

5 STARS!!!!

Oh... My.,.. Goodness! I feel guilty even starting a review on this. They're not my all time favorite band (though Dusty Hill was one of my influences as a bassist), but I don't believe I've ever heard a ZZ Top song I've objected to. This release in particular has 11 tracks, five of which were at least minor hits; Gimme All Your Lovin', Got Me Under Pressure, Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, and TV Dinners. There's not a single slouch among the remaining six tunes either. The entire release is heavily doused with what I've come to refer to as "ZZ Top Cool." They're laid back, rockin', cool, humorous, seem like they have a good time playing - and why wouldn't they! Just throw this on - even in the background - and I promise you'll be satisfied. Obviously when Dusty Hill died it left a void. You don't lose something that's been an integral part of you for 50 years and not notice it. But at Dustys' request, his bass tech Elwood Francis took over and they still sound really good. Elwood IS really good, even though he looks a little like a psychotic, grey haired werewolf running around the stage, he's much more than just a sufficient fill-in.

Discazo, me encantó. Creo que nunca había escuchado un álbum completo de ZZ Top y me sorprendió lo mucho que conecté y me prendió. Todo lo que me gusta de estas bandas y épocas lo tienen estos barbudos. Genial.

One of the best in its category. Very effective. 4.51

10/10. I am a sucker for this kind of hard rock music. It featured great songs after great songs. I felt a lot of really good vibrations while listening to it. I should check out more of ZZ Top's work. This was sick! :)

Surprised by how much I liked this one! The singles were ubiquitous in the early 80s, and seemed like a bit of a cliché, but that’s not giving them enough credit for the virtuosity with which they were played. And the album tracks are arguably even better! Just straightforward American rock, very clear in its intentions.

Complete guilty pleasure of an album. It’s just fun straight up bluesy rock and roll. ‘I Need You Tonight’ is just incredible. Everything just powers along with such driving rhythm. Can’t help but turn it up. The cheesy videos were iconic and of that golden MTV age. Love it all.

It may be an album about 69ing and eating Chinese takeaway but there wasn't a second of this I didn't enjoy!! For a morning painting the back door I frankly don't care how shallow it is. I had a blast

This is such a tight album. A fantastic blend of blues and rock, all while mixing in a more modern (of the time) feel.

What else do you need from an 80s blues album than innuendo and blues? Nothing. Perfect album

Liked it. Cool, uplifting.

These white boys were cooking for real

Love it.

Is it the best ZZ Top album? Depends on who you ask. It is full of great tunes that dominated the radio and MTV in the mid-1980s. Gimme All Your Lovin', Legs, and Sharp Dresed Man were all major hits and helped revive blues-oriented rock from its coma. Without Eliminator, you don't have Stevie Ray Vaughn's commercial success. The thing is, it was a popular album and watered down the Texas blues that ZZ Top was known for. It made them mainstream famous but for previous fans of albums like Tres Hombres, it seemed like a bit of a sellout. Overall, it's a great album, maybe not one for the purists, but for the rest of us.

I can't help but love cheesy 80s rock. Hardly cerebral (TV Dinners lmao) but a fun listen the whole way through. Stand outs: Gimme All Your Lovin', I Need You Tonight, Dirty Dog (when I look past the blatant misogyny in the lyrics), and Bad Girl.

Very easy to dismiss as a beardy novelty band, but holy crap ZZ Top were ahead of their time. I guess it was like Dylan going electric, but the simple addition of synths gives every track such a malevolent, hard edge. Did Nirvana use synths? Did Guns 'n Roses? Oasis? No! THEY CAN ALL DO ONE.

Excellent

No notes

Unstoppable

One of the greats

Straight off 5 ⭐ So musically pure and simple, with brilliant riffs. For such a brilliant album, it's next to impossible to pick a "best track". But, I'll give it a shot - for me, it's "got me under pressure"

They come runnin' just as fast as they can 'Cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man- ZZ Top

This isn't so much a "Fuck it, it's a 5" so much as it is a "I don't give a fuck what anybody else thinks, it's a 5."

A behemoth of a record. inspired by Billy digging Depeche Mode and Ministry.

YESSs also btw give bjorks album another listen. debut

Legendary

Vers good

uh, YES.

Really fun album - Texas fried boogie blues. Eliminator contains a bunch of classic ZZ Top songs. With the long beards and fuzzy guitars it is really easy to overlook how solid a band they were and how good a guitarist Billy Gibbons is.

To me, ZZ Top is the American AC/DC because they have the same basic guitar and driving beat in pretty much all their songs, yet they are SUPER FUN to always listen to. This album is pretty much the one that put ZZ Top on the map. It’s essentially a greatest hits (of their popular radio stuff anyway). I know they have other bluesy stuff, but this is the album to dive in on. Not exactly a no skipper, but a great listen nonetheless.

Classic guitar squealing rock....love it.

Heavy, tight, awesome. Favorite track: Gimme All Your Lovin'

Simple lyrics but AMAZING music. GOATS for a reason. M

Some of the cleanest guitar of the 80s. Every song is basically a satisfying delicious ear worm.

Great album across the board

my dad would beat me if I didn't rate this album a five - he likes it that much.

Rock del lento, rock rápido, rock del bueno, eso es este disco.

Fun energetic album. The solos are poems in the air!!

אחלה של רוק! לא כל המוזיקה מהאייטיז לא משהו

HEAVYYYY blues. I love it. What a fun album. Favorite track: Bad Girl

Brilliant ❤️

Amazing!

About time that we got a real banger again. My last 5 star rating was 26 albums ago. ZZ Top just rock, that's all there is to it, but that can be quite a lot in itself. My main criticism of the previous ZZ Top album we've had was that some of the arrangements sounded a bit too sparse. The modest synth accompaniments and added tightness in percussion through the drum machine really pull their weight in solving the sparseness issue. My other criticism of the other ZZ Top album was that the quality difference between the highs and lows was pretty big. This one is pretty much straight fire throughout. If the low-point is something like the unremarkable (but still solid) Thug, that's a straight A in my book. Great album. More like it, please. Song highlight: Sharp Dressed Man

Really enjoyed this album

Pure rock start to finish. Not a bad song on the album. RIP Dusty. Standout tracks: Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man, I Need Your Tonight, Legs

Wow this album is good. Only heard the popular ones from this like Sharp Dressed Man and Gimme all your lovin. I love the theme and the sound that goes with the album. The cover fits it a lot. ZZ Top's guitar is legendary as ever

It has legs. Great band.

silly music, awesome

Great album. Good fast paced rock. Lots of popular songs.

Good album. Many songs we enjoyed listening to. Like the rhythm and blues music.

1983 - I was 16. Definitely in my Top 20 from High School!

Classic

Who doesn't love ZZ Top!

Love it. The best ZZ Top album

Familiar with ZZTop and this was a great album choice.

Another one from my vinyl collection. You are 2/2 out of the gate. Either I have really good taste in albums or you folks at 1001 need to dig deeper and work harder to stimulate our brains! Like look at this discovery I made…https://open.spotify.com/artist/75HUyKKqjQufaWM2aJ1Ba4?si=I4Ydjxu8RxGNIMHep-kUdQ

big fun. will relisten

Apparently I'm a ZZ Top fan. Who knew?

Not gonna lie. I know the lyrics are pretty superficial and simple, but this album was really fun to listen to. One of the better hard rock, poppy, blues albums from this time period. I liked every track in this album even "TV Dinner" (even though it was pretty whack, lyric-wise). I will definitely listen to this again! Favorite Song(s): "Gimme All Your Lovin'", "Sharp Dressed Man", "I Need You Tonight"

What a great album. If you didn’t know already ZZ Top can bring it.

Can I go more than 5. This was my first ZZ Top album as a kid. So this wins due to nostalgia.

who don't love ZZTOP?

This band and Billy Gibbons are favourites. The opening 3 tracks are all classic. This one was overplayed back then. I still enjoy all their albums. There are a couple of clunkers but the strong tunes make it a 5 star classic.

It’s good

Fuckin’ A

How just 3 guys can have such a big sound is amazing.

Lovely Album

good rock

Sharp dressed man!

Regretfully this is 5 stars for me. Regretfully because it brings back memories of being confused about dating and desire, confused about how loud to play music in one's home, how to drive a car and stay within the speed limit - I copped so many speeding fines with this album. Regretfully I still enjoy it and regretfully, I cannot play it in my car still because it generates speeding fines. It's a bad album, it's so good.

Top Beards!

Classic

So goos. Classic rock at its best

👌🏼

Flashback to MTV

ZZ Top's "Eliminator" is nothing short of a timeless masterpiece that continues to captivate music enthusiasts and rock aficionados alike, decades after its initial release in 1983. This album not only defined an era but also transcended it, showcasing ZZ Top's unparalleled talent and their ability to seamlessly blend rock, blues, and a dash of electronic experimentation. The album kicks off with the iconic track "Gimme All Your Lovin'," instantly grabbing your attention with its catchy guitar riffs and irresistible groove. Billy Gibbons' signature raspy vocals perfectly complement the bluesy undertones, setting the tone for what's to come. The album's production quality was ahead of its time, incorporating synth-driven elements that give it a unique and enduring sound. "Sharp Dressed Man" follows, boasting one of the most recognizable guitar hooks in rock history. The song's slick lyrics and swaggering rhythm make it an anthem for those who appreciate the art of dressing well. ZZ Top's tongue-in-cheek lyricism and playful approach to songwriting shine throughout the album, adding a layer of charm that makes the music even more enjoyable. Tracks like "Legs" and "TV Dinners" showcase the band's playful and sometimes satirical take on contemporary culture. They blend bluesy guitar work with the electronic influences of the time, resulting in a sound that feels both innovative and timeless. "Eliminator" doesn't just rely on hit singles to make its mark; it's a well-rounded album with deep cuts like "I Need You Tonight" and "Thug." These tracks demonstrate ZZ Top's ability to deliver soulful, bluesy rock with lyrical depth and musical intricacy. One of the standout aspects of "Eliminator" is its versatility. It seamlessly transitions between tracks with different tempos and moods while maintaining a consistent sonic identity. Whether you're in the mood for energetic rockers or introspective blues, this album delivers on all fronts. The closing track, "Bad Girl," provides a fitting conclusion to the album, with its gritty guitar solos and Gibbons' soulful vocals. It leaves you yearning for more, a testament to the album's enduring appeal. "Eliminator" is more than just an album; it's a cultural phenomenon that has left an indelible mark on the world of rock music. Its influence can be heard in countless bands that followed in ZZ Top's footsteps. The combination of classic bluesy rock, innovative synth elements, and clever lyricism makes it a must-listen for music enthusiasts of all generations. In summary, ZZ Top's "Eliminator" is a landmark album that has stood the test of time, and it continues to delight listeners with its infectious energy and enduring charm. It remains an essential addition to any music collection and a testament to the timeless genius of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard.

I think this barely makes it over the hump to a 5 Holy hell what an opening! - Gimme all your lovin - under pressure - sharp dressed man Good god! Actually track #4 Need You Tonight is a bit of a sleeper and pretty wicked also. Def there is some 80s cheddar here but the guitar work almost always makes up for it IMHO Everything after Legs is kind of forgettable but still extremely enjoyable

Tres Hombres is the best ZZ top album (10/10), followed by Eliminator (9/10). Presumably everyone knows this album. In the Netherlands Gimme All Your Lovin' was the big hit, followed by Sharp Dressed Man. Everywhere else in the world it was Legs. These are 5-star songs on Eliminator, just like Got Me Under Pressure and I Need You Tonight, so practically the first half of the album. The fourth single, TV Dinners, is 5-star too. The other songs are almost consistently 4-star. Together with the 80s' top production and the sound (I like the synths a lot!) you get a 5-star album, easily.

Espectacular ya no se toca la.guitarra asi

What a fun listen. This album really makes you feel like you're eating a TV dinner

Always pleasure listening to the beard

I love me some ZZ Top, and I love this album. The only album of theirs that's better than this one is Afterburner. This record is definately front end stacked. This album was ZZ Top's 8th studio record, and their first to feature synthesizers and sequencers. They were keeping up with the sound of the day (that 120 bpm new wave electric sound) while maintaining their blues rock, Texas boogie-woogie style. They had the beards, they had the look (old 1933 Ford coupe, women, fuzzy guitars, swag), they had the music videos, these guys had it all. They were showing no signs of slowing down. The hits on this record are all phenomenal (Gimmie All Your Lovin', Legs, Sharp Dressed Man). Overall, a beauty of a record. Every song on it is gold. Dusty Hill's performance on I Got The Six is fantastic! Also, Dusty's slap bass in Thug is phenomenal. The band is so tight on this record, it's awesome!! Favourite songs: Gimmie All Your Lovin', Legs, Sharp Dressed Man, I Got The Six, Got Me Under Pressure, Bad Girl, Thug, Dirty Dog, If I Could Only Flag Her Down Least favourite song: if forced to pick, I Need You Tonight 5/5

Oh man. As the population songs when I was a teenager in the 80s played, I was transported back to MTV abs their iconic videos. I loved them and the power I felt as a girl watching them. Also tye music is great. One of my favorite albums by them for sure.

Album 52 of 1001 ZZ Top - Eliminator Favorite Track : Sharped Dressed Man Rating : 5 / 5 I was all prepared to suggest that ZZ Top's hits are awesome but what was left is just mediocre. Boy, was I wrong. That is what happens when one lets what they've heard or read affect their opinion before experiencing something themselves. Good stuff all the way through. Fun album. May not really match up with some of the classics out there, but this serves its purpose quite effectively.

I love this album, so much. I remember liking it when I was younger and I like it even more now. Its just fun hit after fun hit. If this had la Grange on it would a perfect fun album. It's simple fun, makes me deeply happy. Just dudes being dudes

This is the first album I ever bought on cassette, so it's going to get 5 from me. Man, it's a good thing the notes didn't include lyrics ... Probably the tightest ZZ Top album.

I grew up listening to this one and own it on vinyl.

Really enjoyed the album from top to bottom

Some absolute worldies on here.

A master class in cool. If you're not tapping or singing along you're likely dead.

Classic. Earlier stuff is better, but this has the 80s hits.

excelent

So classic. A really unique sound and energy that is instantly recognizable.

Big part of my music growing up.

Baller. This was a huge album in my high school years.

I actually loved this album. So fully of energy from start to finish with two big hits in "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Legs", the latter my personal favorite ZZ Top song. I do wish it was a bit stronger in the last few songs but great nevertheless. 9/10.

This is an outstanding bluesy rock album. Much more than the big radio hits.

Really good album, lots of great rock classics. Favourite: Sharp Dressed Man

Nice blues-rock album. Has some really great songs. The guitar solos and the music itself are not very complicated and quite basic from a technical perspective, but are very well executed. The flow/rhythm/energy in this album is great!

My favourite ZZ album, great rock/blues 80s vibe, sharp dressed man is a jukebox killer.

yeahhh....

One of my favorite albums. Dusty and Frank driving the rhythm under Billy's melodic blues guitar and vocals. Very formula based and gets a lot of criticism for sounding the same. Billy's guitar tone and vocal growl make all the difference. The song "Thug" shows they can get out of their formulaic comfort zone with effects and Dusty popping a syncopated rhythm. Not the best song but just proof that they aren't a one trick pony. It really doesn't matter as I can easily pass the time grooving along to every sing on this album, and suddenly it's over. Great music for long drives and just chilling with friends. This is the blues power trio not prog rock (another favorite genre of mine.) I'll gladly listen to this album over and over, just to discover something new and a renewed appreciation for the group.

good, really good

Great album! Few big hits, strong b-sides, gotta love ZZ Top

Classic. This belongs on the list.

Dang, what a cool album. Metal, synthy, with a cool industrial beat. It’s fun and a great album to get pumped up to. Makes me want to go real fast in my car haha. A ton of great singles but a very cohesive album overall

Love it. Always have.

Rock solid all the way through. I was quite familiar with all the singles, and have listened to the album completely several times in the past, and as usual it sneaks up on me just how good it is. Great balance between polished production and the fuzz and grunge of the distorted guitar. Memorable guitar work, catchy choruses. Everything that rock 'n' roll should be.

Sharp sounding album

Under pressure is so nearly a classic - the riff is sublime but the verses and lyrics ruin it - a real shame. With a little adjustment it could have been a massive hit. Same with I got the six. When they manage to match verse & lyrics to a riff, the result is spectacular - hence 3 huge singles on the album. Guitar is utterly magnificent all through the album. Billy Gibbons is an awesome riff machine and fab guitarist. The album has a distinctive sound which tore through 1983.

Amazing

Very nice

There's something irresistible about ZZ Top, and this album exemplifies that special something.

I just love it

Brilliant. But Deguello is the one for me

Rockend, maar toch zeer dansbaar! De mannen van ZZ-top weten hoen ze bluesrock moeten maken. topalbum

One of the first records I ever bought with my own money. All killer No filler.

It's very good!

Just a straight up fun album with lots of energy and some great musicianship! What's not to love about ZZ Top? This album also has some of their biggest hits! Put it on and enjoy from start to finish! Oh mercy!

Texan rock and roll, and childhood memories. Love it. I think the is the best ZZ Top album

Gimme all your lovin

02/04/2022 A CLASSIC! Will never get old. Easiest 5-star yet.

This is such a fun album, definitely more of a "pop" outing for ZZ Top than they're more bluesy stuff but it's a bop from front to back. Lots of classics in here, opening with Gimme All Your Lovin and just riding that wave through to the end.

This is ultimate ZZ Top. As my dad puts it, “ The great Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill along with Frank Beard….Created a great Blues-Rock fusion unparalleled in modern rock. Turn it up, open a cold beer and ENJOY!!!!” This is so true. Of course you have 3 of their biggest hits on this album (Sharp Dressed Man, Gimme All Your Lovin, and Legs” but “I Got the Six” and “Bad Girl” are so fun.

Give Me All Your Loving is a great boogying tune. Its not just the singles that have this deep and abiding sense of groove. What a kickass album.

Really good rock. I like this better than Tres Hombres.

-"Gimme All Your Lovin'" is such a catchy tune and the riff after the chorus is awesome -"Got Me Under Pressure" is such an awesome song and I'm surprised it isn't a bigger bit. Something about it is just so awesome. The guitar riff grooves, and the pattern of the lyrics makes it super catchy. Although, I do prefer the live version where the lyrics have a bit more oomph -"Sharp Dressed Man" is a ZZ Top Classic. Great riff, and I personally love the "...black tie (black tie)" bit. -"I Got the Six" is a totally rad song. The drum riff thing in the choruses is great, and the drumming just keeps an awesome beat behind the slick guitar work throughout. Some of these sound pretentious but it's cuz I would just be repeating myself for half these songs. Also the scream after like the second chorus is pretty crazy -"Legs" is a total classic, and the synth riff is pretty sweet, with plenty of "live" work over the top -"Thug" was actually the first song I heard from ZZ Top after knowing "Sharp Dressed Man" and "Cheap Sunglasses" for years. The syncopated slap bass stuff is so cool, it's like catchy and unpredictable. -"TV Dinners," "Dirty Dog," "If Only I Could Flag Her Down," and "Bad Girl" are all solid, but don't have some big standout feature -Overall super solid and grooving album

This album’s got Legs and I love to listen to it while eating my TV Dinners. BTW, its also got Gimme All Your Lovin, Got Me Under Pressure and Sharp Dressed Man. This is the album where they broke into a more mainstream sound from their blues band past. My favorite ZZ Top album. 5

If you don't like this, then frankly, there's no help for you. Absolutely rattles along with dirty funky riffs galore.

Still love it.

glad i listened - almost didn't - but now i know that one montage song from 30 rock when tracy and jenna go shopping, and that is priceless

One word Wednesday: Dusty And I have to add that this album is better than most give it credit. Almost 40 years of several tracks being overplayed and several retrospectively-Uber-cheesy videos don’t help either. Also some great tunes that seldom hit the radio - “ I Got the Six” & “TV Dinners” 4.5 stars, but I’m rounding up in memory of recently departed Bass player Dusty Hill. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Listworthy = 👍

great album for southern rock noodling. Knew lot of ZZ top but only actually recognized a few from this one. Love how an album can be so unabashedly horny, and still devote a song to tv dinners.

What a great album. It's nothing but jam after jam that manage to just barely avoid being cheesy and, instead, come off as truly iconic. Just a really fun album.

Letztens die Doku gesehen. Tolle Band, besonderes Album!

Great album, start to finish. Even enjoyed hearing a song about TV dinners.

Car driving music!

Classic blues guitar rock. Reminds of a dingy bar filled with smoke.

Love this album. One of the first vinyls I had in high school.

Damn. This is a quality album that clearly shows off ZZ Top’s iconic style. A lot of great hits and a great overall album.

Awesome

Classic, high energy, all around good time.
