Reviews (page 11 of 13)
Some nice jazz.
I like this more than some of the other samba stuff I've heard. I think the jazzier elements of it put it a bit more in my wheelhouse. Love the sax in particular.
Lässig, ein paar Klassiker dabei. Etwas zu südamerikalastig für mehr Punkte.
Eher ruhig und chillig
Mimics the original
It was an ok listen, I am not familiar with jazz so it is hard to rate honestly.
Long live jazz.
Good listen if slicing vegetables or washing pots, will definitely come back here again. Stan Getz a three
Sounds like the Monsters inc theme
Jazz Samba is not my style but if you like it, this is well done.
Very chill and relaxing, would listen again...7/10
What lovely hotel lobby music we have here. 6/10
Sounds like driving down the Italian coast in a 60's movie.
Listened in the background, enjoyable
High 3. Good, smooth jazz. Easy listening.
Stan Getz + Brazilian Music should always be awesome but I enjoy Getz / Gilberto significantly more Best song: Desafinado Worst song: N/A
Pleasing to the ears
A nice jazz album
Pleasant enough. Restaurant or concentration background music.
Rare to find Samba that doesn't melt into itself after 2/3 tracks. Great album. High 3.
Good
Very cool vibe. Feels like a sunken living room on a leather couch drinking some Johnnie Black. Great musicianship. Cool to explore different genres. Would rate like 3.75 or so
big surprise....I liked it
Needs more Gilberto.
this is either better than the other samba album, or i'm just in a better mood. i think the sax helps tho. 2.5
I enjoyed this but it was just background music and not particularly interesting. I listened to this while shopping, but didn't even notice it was over until like 20 mins after it ended
Do ya like... Jazz?
Nogal hysterische jazz
I've never really listened to Jazz before so it's hard for me to compare this to other Jazz albums. With that being said, I did enjoy a majority of the songs on this album. I don't think I'm going to listen to more jazz on my own though.
ya like jazz?
Not my genre but still quite audible
This wouldn't be my daily music, but I would like it on occasion. Out for a walk paired with this one nicely. Will I listen to again: 30%
Decent music, but each song is pretty much indistinguishable from any other.
ja isch scho jazz. nöd schlecht, us minere sicht au nöd unglaublich. stereo hani nödmal so schlimm gfunde wie ichs befürchtet han aber jo
calming, groovy jazz, would be good to do work to. no lyrics. enjoyable!
Good background music
Great musicians but bossa nova ain't boss. Two Americans do a great job but they aren't the Brazilian masters. Cool for dinner prep or a cocktail.
I didn't know what to expect from this, but I enjoyed it more than I expected. Glad it wasn't any longer but it was very atmospheric and emotion evoking, despite being instrumental. Bass, piano and sax is a great combination. Really nice background music, but not much more than that. Would give it a 2.5 if possible
Sin ser yo nada aficionada al jazz, este me ha gustado bastante porque es muy 'ordenadito', supongo que porque va sin demasiada improvisación.
Posiblemente un gran álbum, pero el jazz no es mi música preferida
This was funky! Really enjoyed the vibe of this album and it’s definitely not what I’d normally listen to. I got a bit over the sound after a full album. Would probably only revisit individual songs rather than a full album next time.
Silky smooth
Solid.
Smooth jazz album
Nic classic jazz album. Definitely one to listen to again. Upbeat grooves with a great tenor sax and guitar.
the bossa nova - classic hotel-lobby vibes
Very jazz club-y. Soulful, smooth sax.
If you gotta listen to jazz, might as well be this. Pretty damn good.
Jazz isn't normally my thing, but this is really good and glad I got a chance to enjoy it which I wouldn't have done without this coming up on the list.
I forgot I was listening to this and ended up staring stupidly at my phone thinking I was on hold. I shouldn't be drinking when I do these reviews. The next day when I was sober I discovered a cool, chill album. It's more the sort of thing you would put on as background noise than actively listen to though.
I really enjoyed it!
Cool. Not really my jam
The last time we had a jazz album I said I wanted some sax, so here we are. Bossa Nova isn't really what I had in mind but it's enjoyable. I gave the last one a 3, this gets a 3 too, but if there's any more granularity this goes above it.
Jazz
I've had this in my collection for many years. Not a bad album, bit 'loungey' for my taste.
Just a standard jazz album...
Jazz
Nicht ganz mein Geschmack, aber professionell gespielt.
Schön anzuhören.
It is a good rainy day album. Kinda slow, kinda reflective. Not my favorite Coldplay record. 4/5...really 3.5/5, but rounding.
Finally an album I had no knowledge of! A bit soft for me on first listen, though the latin vibes did make me want to drive an open top Cadillac along a Cuban coast road... or something. Need to listen more... at some point.
Yeah this was nice. Good background noise, chill album
One of those albums on here that's a pleasure to be introduced to. It's never going to be my jam, but I'm glad to have listened to it.
Much preferred the previous Getz record that cropped up on here. This is decent, nice background music, but didnt grip me like the other one. Nice enough, but I’ll stick with what I know on this one
Didn't enjoy this quite as much as the last getz album, the lack of singing detracting from the beach side cocktail drinking atmosphere. It was still pleasant, wouldn't mind it on in the background, but i couldn't recall any specifics now.
Very jazzy, very samba. I didn't realise quite how influential Brazilian music is - other than the titles, The Girl from Ipanema and One Note Samba are (for me) Sinatra hits, however both had their origins in South America. This album was punchy and lively. Unlike the other Getz album, it is less background, laid-back jazz at a hotel: more like foreground jazz at a relaxed café.
Just like his previous album I quite liked this, it's fairly relaxing and nice in the background. Easy listening jazzy samba style (which I've now found is called Bossa Nova) that doesn't overstay its welcome.
ja ganz chillig
it's a 3
I guess it's good background music. Wanted a bit more samba and a bit less jazz.
Great jazz album. I have no business judging these
Decent. Rating: 3.2
Nice easy listening, love the percussion
did not expect to like that, but it was a nice calming bit of trumpet
Good background music but didn't have anything to grab me
I didn’t hate this, which is massive for me. Jazz gets right under my skin. It’s lovely to have to listen to the kinds of things I’d avoid though because I could get along with this. A bit.
I understand why people would want to listen to this. The saxophone gives the songs so much life and emotion, and the sound is dampening but the same time jumpy and lively. Even though it was great, I did not care for it much, and I probably wouldn't listen to it again. Also I thought the songs were missing a little substance.
Nice. I was going to give this a 4 guessing what I'd think about it if I heard it as a more jazz-sympathetic teen. I cannot give an album with a track called "Samba Dees Days" more than 3. music: appreciated. (⌐□_□)
I listened to this and thought “dang Stan Getz sounds cool” so I texted my father in law (jazz guy) and he recommended a bunch more Stan Getz for me to check out. Gonna become a jazz guy now
I Don’t listen to jazz but this was nice. Liked tracks: Samba De Uma Nota So
I'm suddenly craving a sangria.
Solid jazz
I guess bossa nova was all the rage when this album came out. Maybe because this album came out. Either way, I don't get the craze. The album is fine, fairly smooth, but it's just not overly inspiring or distinctive for me. I it on a few times and had no idea when it was over and other songs had crept onto my playlist. So there's not really anything that stands out to me and says "this is what these guys do that others don't." Once again it probably shows how naive I am about jazz.
love the album artwork already, so let’s hope i like it, i do love a bit of jazz anyways. i did indeed like this album, was just nice to have on in the background in my cosy room with the rain outside. i also feel like i really recognised the 5th song from somewhere, just not sure where. easy listening i guess and would listen again.
Elevator music but kinda spicy
The constant brushes keep it so constant it can become mindless, but it does sounds pleasant
Haven't listened to much jazz but this was kinda nice
3.5/5 - I will round down for this one since I foresee a lot of these songs getting skipped on my playlist, however when I am in the mood, they will be delightful. Desafinado - Starts off really strong, w/ a shy but flirty cadence. found myself dipping my shoulders with the entire song. Samba Dees Days - Its ok. Would be cool to set to a Rube-Goldberg machine that primarily consists of hot-wheel tracks. Ok so I stopped checking into individual songs after the second and just let myself get lost a bit. A gray area in music, sometimes that means the piece wasn't captivating enough for me, other times it is a mood matcher that can keep and even set pace for the ramblings of mind. Latter is true for Jazz Samba. This is actually the first one that I listened to twice in a row. Now that may be because I was working and it felt like great productivity music - but hey I only see that as a plus.
3.5/5
As the name suggest jazz, upbeat easy listening, it is nice but still not what I’d sit and listen too
I feel like Stan Gets drove the popularity of samba almost singlehandedly. This was pleasant, non threatening. Not experimental jazz, something that has a time and place in the early 60s. I think Gilberto/Getz is better though
Jazz, low-key vibes. Good for a casual dinner party, but it sometimes gets a little crazy with the sax (which I've learned is the whole point of this album). Big fan of track 6, E Luxo So I was going to make a note that I liked the album more and more and it went on, but then I realized this album ended and I was listening to other jazz artists.
Can't say anything other than i love this jazz too!
Desafinado and Samba Tristie were clear favourite - Samba Tristie I can imagine warm summer nice dancing on the street.
Chill
Fine. A couple strong tracks. Another album that makes me think of a brunch at a museum restaurant primarily attended by older people.
It's light. Can't feel strongly about it but it was alright. One of the few albums that I'd like to be longer
The importance of this album implicitly understood, and the modern wet rag impact is explicitly felt. There's a reason this was followed by an encore album with an actual bossa nova player --- current fans will say it was to meet demand, sane listeners will recognize it was to capitalize on a short trend that has outlived its welcome. Every track is as creative (for its day and audience) as it is challenging (for its day and audience). I keep using A/B comparisons because there is nothing here that has an engaging place in the modern scene. It belongs in a museum for the best and worst reasons.
Not my cup of tea but good elevator music
Not my typical pick of music but a nice 30 minutes of relaxing jazz tunes.
Good Jazz, Stan Getz tends to have solid variety in his sound while not giving "Tom and Jerry" vibes
Nice easy listening. Track 2 was my favorite.
Samba, bossa nova, bit of jazz influence. It's a nice album for a song or two, and then the constant drum rhythm just drills a hole in your head and you're not able to hear anything. Listen in small doses and you will enjoy it.
Simple, charming, elevatoresque.
Good album, nice vibe, musicianship was great, but felt like mostly it just came and went, no real standout moments or memorability. Would definitely put it on for something to have in the background.
Not a huge jazz fan but this had some impressive instrumentations and was soothing nonetheless.
jazz
Sweet, gentle instrumentals. a little repetitive in the middle but picks up in the end. Great introduction to jazz. 5-6/10
Very good. The first track is one that I have heard a thousand times but never knew where it was from. Now I do. Cool.
not big on jazz but it sounds good
Agradable para escuchar en un ascensor, o sala de espera, o de compras ... música de fondo.
Good chill jazz album for a Sunday working at a coffee shop, but not generally my vibe. Maybe 3 stars?
Great listen on rainy day drive to work.
I liked it overall. It can sound like elevator music at times. The saxophone and guitar play really well off of each other.
There were moments but not enough
Nice and smoooth!
Two minutes in, I thought this was going to be boring, dated, past its prime. but then I ended up repeating two-thirds of the songs to give them another listen. This guy's tone is smoother than I can remember ever hearing out of a sax. It's like he has no tongue.
Hintergrund Musik für ne Cocktailparty
Lovely, smooth, unchallenging and smile provoking. Loungey I'd say, lazy. Perfectly listenable. What do you want?
Very chill and relaxing background music. Was very surprised how much I enjoyed having this on in the background in my office.
Bossa nova. Much respect.
I'm not super into jazz, but this is a nice one. It makes for excellent background music for a conversation or working.
I'm not musically gifted enough to appreciate this.
Smooth as
I listened to this on Friday, now it's Monday and I don't really remember anything about it
This is reminiscent of the music from 'The Sims'.
2.5 - not bad; just not my cup of tea
It's pleasing, but never goes that far beyond being a pleasant sensation.
Half of this is sublime, the other half sounds like a Benny Hill soundtrack.
Good background music I guess
Bahia - Khruangbin could cover this. Overall pretty solid background jazzy bossa nova album.
Pretty nice pleasant record. 7/10
S'écoutait très bien, mais ça fait vraiment musique de café fancyu ou lounge à cocktails fancys. Un bon album à réécouter, mais plus pour faire une ambiance tranquille de soirée plus que pour activement écouter. 6/10
Chillin and enjoyable
3.5. Good Jazz.
This was decent. I liked it even though it didn't really hold my attention. Probably the combination of my enjoyment of the playing but not being a huge fan of samba.
This was ok. I didn't really have any strong feelings either way. If this was on, I wouldn't change it, but there's nothing here making me want to relisten either. 3/5
Easy listening
Maybe good background music, but nothing I'd normally play
Had to look up what bossa nova is and then realized it's basically just lounge music. And for a lounge music album this was quite enjoyable. Might add it to my work music playlist
Snoturt og þægilegt. 3,5
Smooth
Chill vibes on my sunny train ride.. I’ll save this for background music at a party.
Desafinado, Samba Triste
Important and great album, but most likely not ending up on any of my playlists.
It was raining quite heavily both times I listened to this album and it seemed to fit quite nicely. Although I could imagine this on a sunny tropical beach too. No particular favourite track, nice dreamy listen overall.
Very well done Jazz Record, but Jazz isn’t my top pick for music, I do enjoy it, so I’d give it a 7/10 solidly
Never been a ‘sit back and appreciate the musical complexities of jazz’ kinda guy. However, I do sometimes enjoy it as background. I’m sure jazz musicians really appreciate when their art is referred to as background music. But, everything has its purpose. This album Getz me in the mood to sit at a coffee shop and pretend to do important work.
I enjoyed this, it made for an interesting stroll. I felt cheeky walking around the neighborhood
Oh boy, jazz. Jazz is totally cool in small doses, but it is a genre I have a hard time listening to full albums of on repeat. The bossa nova flavour of this jazz is quite nice, lending a structure and fun to the music that other jazz can be sorely lacking. With that structure and fun comes the distinct feel of "interlude music" however, and you can find yourself being transported to a waiting room, or a lobby, or an elevator, or a montage scene in a movie where the main character spends several hours cleaning their house or something. As is typical for jazz, the instrumentation is the highlight here. The bass, guitar and drums were all fantastic, and zoning in on any of them was a pleasure on every track. The soloist is there to provide melody for people to center their listening on, but it really isn't the stand out track to me on any of these numbers. I probably won't revisit this, but I won't be upset if a similar album pops up once every couple months.
3, pretty chill
Jazzy
good, bit boring but great instrumental music
Fine I guess, but nothing I’d return to or really enjoyed.
Ridiculo, que pra americano gostar da genialidade brasileira da bossa nova, eles precisam escutar sem as letras Brasileiras
This would be lovely aural accompaniment to sipping a cocktail and watching the sun go down in a beach bar. Rating: 3/5 Playlist track: Desafinado Date listened: 16/03/23
I listened to this while working and it was pleasant. Makes for good background music. I don't have strong feelings otherwise, it's not something I really see myself going back to. Favorite track: Bahia
- Pretty cool reminds me of Brazil
Elevator music but very pleasing elevator music. Would make for a great piece of score during a sunny montage in a film. Will work well on my study playlist. Best: Desafinado, O Pato Worst: just the forgettable ones
More of the same, if the samba wasn't in the title, I doubt I would've noticed. Still, pretty good jazz. A decent record.
It was fine. I was expecting it to like it more than I did.
A perfectly nice bossa-nova/jazz album that got me grooving a bit in my seat at work. Whilst not my favourite genre, I can appreciate that in the right setting, would be a great listen. Best: Desafinado Worst: Samba Triste
Мило, приятно звучит. Но особенным не запомнилось
Скоро уже будет передоз джазом. Коротко: интересно и приятно Забавный кек: самба Диз дэйс отослала мое подсознание к "ночи" Губина и "соседу" Пьехе :)
First album, not my style but felt nice
JAAAAAZZZZ!
Well performed music here, but not my preferred style of jazz. Favorite track: Samba De Uma Nota So
Very smooth. I like the saxophone and the rhythm guitar. I don't like the lead guitar as much. Favorite song: One Note Samba.
Não aguento mais jazz.
you like jazz
Fun
Inoffensive background music. I can imagine this record playing at a 1960s cocktail party.
absolutely jammin jazz record. great vibes 3/5 very good
Caribbean cruise ship jazz, fine, not my thing
Solid bossa nova record. Man that sax just glides across the instrumental set by the other instruments.
Is this guy's name Marsh because this fellow sure is mellow, groovy bossa nova sound eagerly pulls you on a smooth journey with a smile on your face the whole time, The album will now sit in my must listens for jazz. Favourite tracks Desafinado and One note samba
I kinda dug this. In fact, listening to some solo Charlie Byrd right now because I liked the guitar playing so much. Guitar and sax? I assumed that was a duo best left in the 1980s (and maybe it is), but I quite liked the pairing in the context of the jazz-anova tunes. And hey you know what's missing from this Charlie Byrd solo record so far? Sax. It's not as good without it. Whoulda thunk?
I found this lovely! Smooth relaxing jazz which reminds me of a very cool cocktail bar in the 60s... Not the most exciting but very sophisticated and relaxing...
This was very pleasant indeed! I have to say I have no major thoughts other than that. What I was impressed with was how well mixed this was, the guitar was picked up beautifully like you were just there with it.
So that's what it's like to be stuck inside a lift....
Love a bit of jazz and this fits the bill perfectly.
This is cocktail jazz. I can do cocktail jazz. There's nothing that I retained, but I can respect all the talent that goes into it.
I'm torn on this one. Introducing bossa nova to the world was an important event and many pop music listeners would have suddenly become " jazz fans " as a result of this LP. The Bossa Nova/Samba genre got a second life in the 90s with help from the acid jazz movement. I like the Jobim compositions the best and "One Note Samba" has been covered or remixed many times since. On the minus side I would think that jazz fans would have found this a bit soft and some of Stan Getz solos pretty simple. It's interesting that he would have already been a recording musician for 20 years by the time this was released.
Sure, Byrd and Getz ripped off Carlos Jobin and other Brazilian artists and repackaged samba into a new genre. But this album, probably more than any other, put bossa nova into the living rooms of jazz neophytes all over the world, so credit must be given for that. Desifinado (and later, The Girl from Ipanema) are classic bossa nova tracks that still sound pretty fresh today. Samba de Uma nato so is also a nice song that went on to chart well. This album doesn't try to push the envelope at all, the vibe is insouciant and carefree - perfect for a casual sunday afternoon brunch, and there ain't nothing wrong with that.
Another nice instrumental album as background music for my morning routine. But I would never seek it out on my own.
Jazz hands. Very smooth jazz. Felt a little tropical.
Ik vind het heel leuke saxofoon muziek. Niet iets wat ik zelf snel zou opzetten, dus een welkome verrassing. ***
A solid jazz album by Getz. This one I have not heard before but upon first listen I instantly enjoyed the smooth best and mild tempo. The whole album stayed in a pretty relaxed range but the technical skill made it enjoyable. A good jazz album to revisit. 7.5/10
A respectable collection of songs that live up to the cohesion of genres represented here and the blueprint for what became the bossa nova craze. Favorites: Desafinado, Samba Triste, Samba de Uma Nota Só, Bahia.
I don’t know.
Navnet siger det hele, sgu egentlig leget lækkert, afslappende og ledende på samme tid
This is the first jazz album on here that I've actually enjoyed. The others seem to get too wild and get off track too much. This one doesn't get too crazy. Very chill music that is great to have in the background. I think I'm coming to the conclusion that Jazz music=background music. Chill 6/10
You know not every album has to stop you in your tracks. This one sidles up beside you and starts stroking your hand. As the Fast Show would say 'noice'.
I like the songs O Pato, Samba Triste, and One Note Samba. That said, these are not my favorite versions. Nothing offensive here, but jazz is broadly speaking not my favorite. I do appreciate that there are no insanely long random solos.
veldig nrk jazzkanalen, bra heimekontormusikk
Not the biggest samba fan, but this was a nice chilled listen.
beautiful bossa nova album
Not my kind of music, but it was okay
3.5
Wasn’t my thing as much, but didn’t hate this!! Was nice to do my homework to, kept it on so long it went to the album’s radio, she meant well,,
Wel lekker, maar repetitief
Some nice tunes. But I didn't really notice we already listened to the album 5 times. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing.
A bit too smooth
Nice chill jazzy vibes with some lovely acoustic bass work in particular
Hard to tell how I would be listening to this without the wave of American Bossa Nova followed by Muzak and other easy listening enterprises flattening an acoustic inventory and group of genres into elevator music. This makes it to my ears – and ironically – harder to listen to. Some cool guitar runs though
really nice, cant really pick a favourite or least favourite song
Cool cover art.
Very Enjoyable
Nice! Grrrreat!
bom mas porra instrumental vsf
Pleasant
Smooth Latin jazz. Makes me want to dance with my wife after a candle lit dinner.
Fine.
Very smooth and melodic, easy listening, no particularly testing jazz. Very pleasant, but perhaps a little too tame.
Great playing. Lacks the danger of Miles or Coltrane, but they’re not setting out to do that.
There nothing here that stands out in the way of Oh I have heard this before, or oh how memorable...but it is insanely easy listening and great background comfort music while you work, relax or just want something nice to break up the sounds of life.
It was alright but probably wouldn't revisit it much again.
smooth dinner music
jazz 3.5
Relaxing, intricate, entertaining, (too) smooth… my mind would wonder, and I’d have to work to bring it back to the music. A great album while cooking up a meal
Samba
Cool :)
cool jazz samba album as the title implies, just chill vibes
Ну-с, очаровательно, но очень по 70тски, не совсем моё, но даёт ощущение будущего, что замечательно))) 1. очень мило и весело 2. чувак пытался сотворить рок, но что-то пошло не так 3.its giving me freedom vibes 4. up up up 5. погрустить? 6. ооой, irish_ типикал позитивненкие песни 70-х, труба в конце -- огонь(или это волынка? да простит меня Эвтерпа) 7.типично "печальные" 80-е 8. Smoooooooth
jazz stuff. i listened to the whole album but can't really remember what happened so it can't have been the bad or good.
A very pleasant listen
This album is pleasing to the ear but a bit boring. Nice to relax to with a great samba sound, but more saxophone than I care to hear.
Interesting, challenging, different to anything I generally listen to, not my kind of thing, but could be. Keeping it in mind for future listening 3 🌟
I like the bossa stuff, and this is a good one.
Beautiful album that was over before I even knew it. That was a good thing and a bad thing - I was having a great conversation with someone when I started this album and it kept me vibing and energized while in the discussion, but it also didn't have one track that really stood out.
almost too chill bossa nova lounge music. some muddled bass interrupts an overall good flow
I mean. I could listen to it all day. Its just a bit bland and eeeezy listening. Lovely sax tone. A lot of maracas shaking. Its twee and its tuneful and a bit forgetful. Its hard to rate so I'm gonna give it a 3. Mellow man.
While it's definitely composed of the jazz ingredients I like most (standard combo + no vocals), I'm also lukewarm about bossa nova. It's either not dramatic or mysterious enough for me - something about the rhythm is just unexciting. So the album didn't stand a chance. :D Kidding - mostly - it's still great playing and absolutely fine-to-mildly enjoyable to have on as background music for me; it just doesn't hit me the same way others in the same era (Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Charlie Parker, etc) have. Would rarely if ever turn this off, but just as unlikely to reach for it by choice. 7/10 3 stars.
Love the cover. Easy listening. Not bad
Cheeelin
Nice but not especially interesting to me. 3 stars.
Made me think of Ron Burgundy playing the flute.
Jazz Samba just feel "comfortable" to me. I enjoyed listening to it and even though none of the songs are anything I have heard before, the entire album felt familiar, safe and enjoyable. There are a few albums that I will put in a playlist of stuff to listen to when I want to relax. This is certainly going into that playlist. 3.5 / 5.
Honestly I’m just surprised by how many ambient jazz albums there are on this list. This was one of the better ones though
Good but after a few songs just became background noise.
Ohhh this jazz is quite nice. I want to sit in a fancy lounge and enjoy a cocktail while having a ~sophisticated~ conversation with friends
Possibly the best jazz we’ve had so far.
Jazz. Nice.
Nice
This was relaxing and very easy to listen to. It was smooth and warm all throughout. I really enjoyed the tracks that had Latin vibes! Also, considering the year, I felt like the production on this album was really top notch.
Can't complain at all! Extremely pleasant and lots of creative melodies and progressions
Relaxing background music.
Very enjoyable jazz, nothing out of the extraordinary, but the perfect soundtrack for a romantic diner with a little dance as a bonus. I can't give it a full 4 though, because it ain't PROG, ya know
Samba, not just a time signature on a Casio keyboard.
That is some smooth samba.
I do indeed like Jazz.
Favorite Track - Samba Triste Where I was - Office How I listened - Amazon music on Headphones Listen Again? - No
I love the tone of Stan Getz. This is something I would play on a Saturday night (not the whole thing however) I love music you don't have to think too much about.
The influence Jazz Samba had is indefinable however I have to confess it didn't really grab me. Where later Stan Getz albums perfected the art of Bossa Nova, this one just misses the mark, playing it too safe. While not with its moments, this album is more like something you would chuck on in background of a dinner party rather than feel in your heart
It's jazz. It's samba. Jazz can be brilliant, samba is fine in small doses...
Klassikko lattarijazzii! 3/5
This was pretty good. Jazz ain’t my thing but this was enjoyable!
I listen to a lot of jazz (probably more than any other genre these days), so I'm familiar with Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd, and love a lot of their work. Their considerable talents are on full display in this album. I just don't happen to enjoy samba and bossa nova all that much. Can't explain why, but that particular corner of jazz is one of the spots in which I spend very little time. But, dang, these folks are incredible musicians. Even in this subgenre that I don't like very much, I can hear beautiful melody lines and superb comping.
Nothing notable, but standard chill jazz
3.5/5 I actually enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Very chill vibes throughout, like something I’d enjoy it while being at an outdoor bar near a beach on a warm night. Not something I’ll probably listen to on a regular rotation but I can’t say much bad about it.
Has it's place. Definitely easy listening. I am really not a fan of that old-fashioned brush sound on the drums; just not my thing. But it does keep a steady backing for the sax and guitar fronts. Will I queue this album back up? Probably not. But it was a nice intro to my day.
Easy listening. Rather enjoyable in mono, though I couldn't stand listening to it in stereo because of the sound balancing.
Another cheerful (sounding) record that got me moving, albeit more sensually. Haha. Stan Getz. I had literally heard the name before. Nothing more. This is definitely one of the artists that I clicked "follow" on Spotify when I was a couple songs in. I think "O Pato" is what sealed the deal. It's the Flamenco/nylon string guitar. It shuffles. It sorta sounds like something that would be in a Mario Bros. video game. I love this one too. A strong 3.
Enjoyable easy listening. Great background noise
Cool sound. I enjoyed this. It was chill and stimulating at the same time.
I little too elevator music for me.
Brazil seventies fashion
I have never listened to this album. I have made a note of it and will try to do so in the future.
Just a solid jazz album no complaints honestly. Favorite track is Desafinado
3/5, elevator music, but a good one
Very good, but not an album for this particular moment in my life. Awesome music.
Good as background music. Favorites: "Desafinado", "O Pato", "Samba De Uma Nota So"
mmmm. nice.
BOSSanova
A little to old for my taste
Interesting, challenging, different to anything I generally listen to, not my kind of thing, but could be. Keeping it in mind for future listening
Jazz has never really been my thing but it was nice to have in the background whilst doing my uni work.
El jazz es demasiado pretencioso. Igual no es malo.
Sounds nice. Not my style.
Pleasant jazz album. Nice guitar work.
Not Bad. BIIIIG coffeehouse jazz vibes
Great variety of sounds, as with most Jazz. Good date night tunes.
A second day in a row of jazz. What really stands out is how good this sounds, everything is so clear. That fade in on the first track is also unexpected. Nice.
Smooooooth. Prototypical lounge music now, it's pretty remarkable that this was knocked out in a Unitarian church and became the go-to definition of samba for people not actually from Brazil. Amazing tones, still. Getz is a monster player, here accompanied by more than able foils.
Smooth jazz. Good
Me gusta
oh no it's jazz :( these songs all sound the same to me, but it's not bad. kind of romantic
its jazz...
Was wat meer mellow dan verwacht, en nogal veel van hetzelfde. Een half uurtje liftmuziek. Niet m'n ding, maar wel rustgevend

Inoffensive cocktail jazz. (Also: I have a thing about melodies that were originally sung, being played on an instrument. I find that that very rarely works. Here too, in Desafinado, for instance, you hear the saxophone doing melodic/rhythmic phrases that are there because of the lyrics and that just sounds awkward to me. Like the sax is trying to speak which I find quite unsettling). 5/10
Solid jazz album, appreciated the inclusion of some Spanish influences here and there.
Really like encountering jazz in different contexts. I knew of latin jazz, but was not well-versed in it. The album was skillful, but the second half receded into the background of my attention. My favorite track turned out to be a "silly" song about a duck. I liked the way the melody seemed intricate and playful. Favorite tracks: O Pato, Samba Triste
Meh, not a big jazz fan, it was alright.
Ok
pretty alright :)) good easy listening
It is kind of chill, but not my cup of tea
