The best of her day! All other interpreters of Gershwin songbook that follow try to live up to Ella!
Great Collaborator! Love Stan Getz & this LP is excellent! A great way to start your day!
Wow! How did I miss this? I was already out of the retail music industry when this came out in 1994. I’ve got Glory Box on repeat now. Moody, beat driven tunes some more accessible than others. I’m glad it came up in my feed!
This is in my collection from my wife Alison who had a couple of copies!
I’m glad I listened to this LP but it didn’t do much for me. I found the vocals to be pretty bland and not great melodies throughout. Not sure why this is included in 1001 Albums to listen to before you die!
One of the Greatest LP’s of all time definitely!!!
Moody, Atmospheric chopped up! Some of it was ok.
It was just ok
My mama taught me that use of the “n” word was a sin so I find it difficult to listen to “music” laced with that word! I prefer my music with a melody. Powerful lyrics contained within this Lp however and I totally respect the cultural differences.
Wow! Loved this record! Listened to it twice. Will add to my collection.
Sold the crap out of this lp back in the day but have never been a big fan
Not a fan of rap! But thanks
Beatles at the height of their creativity! Wonderful work
Great Record! Bang a Gong
Original Jam Band! Liked it a lot, haven’t heard it in a long time!
Too repetitive and non melodic for me!
Great funky took me right back to the 70’s!
I’ve been a fan of his producing but never listened to his individual albums now nice work
It kinda all sounds the same?
Mostly obnoxious screaming
Hard to find a stream for this lp! What I heard was dance music not a fan
Cabaret nothing special
Excellent!
Great record
Great! How do I not have this in my collection???
Great American Rock and Roll but many are better
Great
Great
I’ve never cared for Morrissey’s vocals!
Great 70’s Rock n Roll! Progenitors of Heavy Metal!
Greatest Girl Band ever
Incredible!
Good music for what it is but not something I would choose to listen to repeatedly
Although I liked the Psychadelic music era and Pink Floyd, this album really didn’t do much for me, not sure why it was selected???
Pure genius
One of this century’s greatest voices
I don’t get this album at all! Not very good in my humble opinion
All time country great!! I’m sure there will be more of his albums on this list!
Great guitars and beats, lyrics leave a lot to be desired
Incredible debut to a megastar band
Loved it
Boring!
Queen of Soul
I have a hard time listening to the “N” word as it was drilled into me as a child that it was wrong. This band seems to have staked their fame as cover artists
Nothing special
Good tunes weak vocals
Why do you need 6 albums by Elvis Costello in this list? This is certainly not one of his best.....
Great songs and instrumentation
Great Grooves!
I had heard of the Cowboy Junkies but had not heard them before! Nice record but the selections just seemed to plod along…
I understand this was a pivotal moment in music history but I’m not a fan!
The beginning of metal!
Great Classic Songs by an incredible Band. I'm just not a fan
I know he is a UK National treasure but it all sounds the same to me!
Didn’t like even a little bit
Great old Instrumental Jazz!!!
I’m sorry but it was painful listening to this guys voice and the horrible repetitiveness of this album!
Loved it!
Sounds like ABBA?
Great profane fascinating concept album. Loved it!
Nice reminder of the Psychedelic 60’s
Great Punk Rock
One of the all time great albums! The Who are the world’s greatest rock and roll band ever!
Great Rock and Roll
Great hip hop record just not my thing
Not a rap fan
Beautiful voice!
Great composer and guitarist!!!
Awesome Rock And Roll!
So so
Sweet and melodic but can’t understand the lyrics
Very interesting album redolent of the music of its time. I’m not sure I would call it proto-punk but I liked it!
Unbelievably Dickey Betts passed away yesterday on the day this showed up in my feed! At Fillmore East is one of the best Live albums ever made showcasing Allman Brothers jams!
Great Rock and Roll!
How can anybody listen to this crap?
Great Record!
Great early Beatles that started it all!!!
Excellent! Marvin at his best!
Too much Dennis de Young sounding for me although music wasn’t horrible
Love Ry Cooder
Great rock and roll but not my favorite Alice album
Nothing exceptional here!
One of the greatest R&R lps ever
The lyrics are mostly unintelligible and the singing is problematic for me at times but the musicianship and music are great!
I couldn’t finish listening to this record as there were too many n words f words p words
Can’t stand axl roses singing voice
I am loving the diversity of this journey!
At least this was melodically listenable for the most part
New found appreciation for Morrissey after hearing this record
Damn near perfect record!
One of the all time Greatest Records ever made!
The greatest live rock and roll album ever!
Peter just beginning to find his voice as a solo artist! One of my top lp’s of all time!
Love me some Yes!
I couldn’t listen but to the first couple of tracks! How can anyone call that Music?
Johnny Cash is a Legend and his sparse interpretations of these songs show what a master he is!
Horrible! How did this album make the cut!
One of the Best LP's of All-Time!
Original Prog Rock LP that helped define a music genre! A Band that continued to define Progressive Rock for decades!
Wow! This is great garage band punk!
Very dated flashback to the 60’s man! Doesn’t hold up as well as other artists of their era like The Who or Rolling Stones
I just can’t listen to Music featuring the “N” word!
I wore that record out! One of the few in my collection on Discogs rated in Fair condition!
I was a young Record Store Manager When this LP came out and we hosted an In-Store appearance by the band before their concert that evening! They were just a bunch of rowdy kids having a great time! What fun! I’ve got photos and autographs to prove it! This is a great Rock n Roll record!
Debut LP was much better!
I liked the music very much but not the vocalist so much
Not my favorite Alice lp
I can’t listen to music filled with “N” words
Beautiful Voice! Not really a big fan of 60’s Folk Music
Ni**a, Mutha F##ker, Dick these guys have a serious vocabulary deficiency! I suffered through this lp even though it’s very difficult for me to hear the N word in any context. The music was better than most other rap albums I’ve been exposed to but spoiled by the foul language and misogyny of the lyrics. I hope these guys have all reformed themselves and don’t get caught up in the P-Diddy horrifics!
Great record when it came out! Amazing artistic accomplishment playing all the parts himself. Todd at the peak of his ability crushed it with this album! Lots of fond memories of many songs from this record.
I acknowledge that people feel that Prince is a musical genius / prodigy and I concede that he is without a doubt an amazing guitarist! He may also have some great party / dance tunes. However, none of his music has ever made me “feel” anything.
Too much profanity and N-Words
Life-long Who fan but this is my least favorite record
One of the best Rock n Roll albums ever! Great songs, the band is super tight and NOBODY screams as good as Ian Gillian! Who doesn’t know the riff from Smoke on the Water? I own this record and have worn it out! Definitely a 5!!! So Good I listened to it TWICE today!
Great album by a great band! Loved it then, love it now!
There are much better Elvis Costello albums than this one!
This would be a 10 if I could! Such a formative record for me on my lifelong WHO fandom! Heading to Philly Wednesday to see their final North American Tour!
One of the Greatest Prog-Rock albums of all time! I have owned it since its release and loved every note! All of the Band’s members have excelled in following works and careers!
This was one of those Gems of an album that comes up through this project! Having never heard of this band before I was joyfully reminded that there are many talented musicians out there that I still haven’t heard!
So many Great memories from my teenage years surrounding this amazing LP!
Boring so Boring! Attended back to back nights by the Dead in ATL 1973 and fell asleep both nights! Still feel the same way about them!
Soundtrack from my teen years! Worlds Greatest Rock Band does it again!
Couldn’t listen to much f and n words
