3 is too low but 4 is too high
"La femme d'argent" and "Talisman" were pretty good, and the rest made good background music. 3.5.
3.75
-never heard of this band -it seems they might be french? -this does sound pretty cool -first song was mostly instrumental and pretty sounds which was nice -sexy boy is a nice sort of chill song -i like the sounds and beth hirshs voice a lot -i do love these quirky sounds -solid 3 star album for me
Really interesting album, cool lounge music, it feels like sitting in a garden, lying in the sun and just chilling. No particular highlight but Beth Hirsch add a lot to the tracks she is on.
Very meh in a lot of ways. I really like the first track La femme d'argent but otherwise not super notable. Too engaging to be ambient music, too mellow to be electronica, not catchy enough for pop.
Very chill, pretty smooth, sometimes aimless, sometimes weird. A nice listen that didn't inspire a lot in me. Best song: You Make It Easy
Started real strong but then got too woobly for me
Quirky lyrics, mostly off-key, and every song was likely plagiarized. It sounds a little too familiar, as if I wrote and recorded it myself back when I was a self-assured six-year-old.
B- La Femme d’argent - 3 Sexy Boy - 3 All I Need - 3 Kelly Watch the Stars - 3 Talisman - 3 Remember - 4 You Make It Easy - 3 Ce Matin-La - 4 New Star In the Sky - 4 Le voyage de Pénélope - 3 Very cool album cover. Nice, soothing music. Not flashy, not familiar, just an all-around 3.
It was alright got bored of it after a while
a precursor for Justice. I liked it, but will probably never revisit. Added a song to a pool vibes playlist. 3/5
Some good vibes. Some weird vibes as well to be fair.
Nice enough. A bit dated
There’s a sexy and cool “air” about this album. It’s easy listening done in the coolest way possible. I was never bored with this and unlike a lot of easy listening I was fully engaged. Within its genre this is clearly something special.
Ibland ja, ibland nej.
It was certainly interesting. If I hadn’t known it was 90s I would have assumed it was from a couple decades earlier.
Im sorta digging this. Didn’t finish it but I’ll get back to it. Good stuff.
Chill. 6-7/10
It's alright.
Not as good as I remember it from when I was younger.
Ich hege den Verdacht, dass Air das softe Nebenprojekt von Daft Punk sind. Das sind doch die gleichen! Platte kenne ich, relativ gut gealtert, gnädige drei Sterne, u.a. wegen Kelly Watch The Stars".
A chiller, more french version of daft punk
Very chill... And creative... Although not 100% my vibe...
Jazzier elevator music. Maybe influential since it most likely laid the groundwork for French house? (E.g. Daft Punk). Vocoder on "Remember" sounds Daft Punk-esque. What's really keeping it from being like them is that the tempo is a lot slower, and the sounds are a bit more drown out, and that there aren't as many vocal tracks.
oui oui je fume des cigarettes et j'aime les petits garçons hon hOn hON
Started off nice but got boring
Muzyka dosyć przyjemna, wręcz relaksująca. Sam album nie jest niczym niezwykłym ani odkrywczym, nie mniej warto go posłuchać.
Trippy instrumental/electronic. Liked some tracks but not overwhelmed.
Yeah, this is nice; not mind-blowing, but I enjoyed it.
It’s a really solid electronic album. It’s got great vibes and still recommended, but not a personal favourite of mine.
Daft punk wannabe
1998 in a bottle, played at every single dinner party I attended that year, but gets a bit boring.
I once saw Air play live. They were the 2nd most tedious band I’ve ever seen It was my great misfortune that night that the most tedious band I’ve ever seen was their support act So, 20 years on from that trauma, how does this hold up? Well, the best thing I can say is that it’s easy to listen to. The worst thing I can say is that it’s easy to not listen to. Kelly watch the stars is wonderful. Sexy Boy, La Femme D’argent, & All I Need are pretty great too The rest is forgettable
Quite chilled
Chill synthetic vibes. Cool to see French folk music through electronica. Beth Hirsch is a really good vocalist.
It was an easy listen...kind of background music for a party with lots of conversation... varied enough to keep it interesting... Kind of spacey. Maybe good for a space launch party...which we have often on the Space Coast of Florida
Heard this a lot at the time and for me it doesn't really hold up. About a 2.5...
som diferente, legalzinho e pa
Kind of peaceful, nice music to work to.
3/5. Bopping beats and the instrumentals were the highlights. Might go up to a 4 later but sticking with 3 because the lyrical songs threw me off. I honestly just wanted more synth.
Pop raro sin letra pero ni tan mal 6/10
Just ok. Im not sure I'd listen to again.
Really neat enjoyable French electronica. It didn’t surprise me that they did work with phoenix
Sounds both very old and new at the same time. If I had to guess I’d say it was a very progressive old album, was surprised it was as recent as 1998. Reminds me of daft punk
Catchy and satisfying "chill" electronica, similar vibe to Saint Etienne. Not groundbreaking but still influential.
Middle of the road electronic mood music. Not as weird as Stereolab and not even approaching the bombast of Daft Punk, this record is more like a serious Moog Cookbook. Enjoyable enough sounds but nothing you'll go back to again and again.
this album was pretty good. chill electronic vibes. I like the album cover and the song with Hirsch were cool. I'll probably revisit and listen while studying.
perfect background music for a calming day
Weird but cool
Listened to on 3/21/23 3/5 Favorite song: all I need Every song on this album I either enjoyed or wanted to make the random noises stop but all in all it was pretty smooth and easy listening
3 stars
I just can't fully get behind it. A very chill daft punk in my opinion, and not just that they're a French duo- the sound is a simply relaxed version of them. Strong start with la femme and sexy boy, each of which are iconic, but it tails off to a point where I'm guessing and hoping for more. Can see why many people would enjoy it though. Solid 3 overall.
Not my kind of music. It was not bad.
Wasn't bothered by it but also wasn't completely blown away either even tho some bits sound interesting 3.5/5
Reminds me of Wet. Somewhat timeless sound, maybe this was the start? Relaxed, a bit funky, accent of singer is a bit off putting at times.
New to me. First impressions: Liking it a lot. After listening: I enjoyed this album a fair bit - especially the use of moog synths. I would not have guessed this album came out in 1998 - it has bit of an old soul to it but at the same time sounds like it could have came out today and not sounded out of time. Some of the back half of the album is maybe a bit too chill and relaxed for my taste. Not bad, but not music that gets me excited. Will want the record. Not an immediate buy, but one I'll definitely watch for. Standout tracks: La femme d'argent, Talisman, Le voyage de Penelope. Would probably give this a 3/5.
Little hit or miss, as was Peter Gabriel. Favorite tracks were 1, 3, 4.
Confusing vibes but pretty chill
Very vibey I enjoyed this album
50 - 50 on this album. Its starts off with groovy mellow mood, as the album continues it seems to turn into something completely different, You make it easy just does not fit on the album. It then continues to go somewhere else on its own. It left me behind
Cool album. Very atmospheric. Not my taste in music though
Ehh had some cool tracks but found it overall a bit slow. Appreciated the eerily electronic vibes.
Enjoyable mellow tunes, couldn’t say it wowed me though. Just some solid music to work to and chill out. Atmospheric. Never really took hold for me though, but I’d come back to it. Another 3.5.
Not bad overall. I'm such a sucker for a good Rhodes track, so the first song had me hooked right away. They weren't all winners though. I hate the sound of vocoder with only a few exceptions, and track 6 is not one of those exceptions. However, it did win me back with all the theramin and haunting vocals in the back half of the song.
Oh hey, these guys did the Virgin Suicides soundtrack. I love that movie and soundtrack! This is pretty nice too. Not totally my thing, but I like when the strings chime in. C
3.5/5 I was quite pleasantly surprised by this album. I had no idea that I knew one of the songs and really enjoyed the mellowness of it. I actually fell asleep to it. Like I said before, sometimes I just want an album that I had a song that I can send to my beautiful wife, and this delivered. Overall, just really nice.
3.5/5 Really enjoyed some of this but after a while it seemed to trail off in quality, became a bit monotonous and too background musicy for me. May relisten as a chill album but doubt it will become a fave. Gave me "day chilling at the beach vibes" so maybe will revisit in that instance.
Kinda mellow but not the worst thing I've heard
A few excellent songs including one about me so I’ll give it a 3.2/5
3 Another album from our chain-smoking, crepe-eating friends overseas. Really expected this to be heavy electronica club music that I was going to dislike, but it turned out to be more of an instrumental easy listening album with electronic influence. There was actually nothing I disliked, with each song having a distinct sound to it helped set it apart from the others. That being said, I do feel like the quality slowly declines as it goes on, like Air decided to frontload the album with their best work. The first half is amazing at building intricate soundscapes that would be a great backdrop for getting work done, playing video games, or even getting high and vibing. The back half, while still good, doesn’t feel quite as compelling or elaborate, almost like something pulled from a royalty-free music site. It’s also a bit more downtempo, to the point where you can almost feel it slowing down (probably trippy on psychedelics). All in all, a pleasant surprise, and one of the better instrumental-leaning albums I’ve heard. I definitely feel like Daft Punk took some inspiration from these guys.
A really nice sound
Quite funky - not my favourite though.
Don’t really care about downtempo electronic music. Sexy Boy was in 10 Things I Hate About You at least. 6/10
Nice background music, but I didn't really notice when it switched to another artist.
BANCO. un poco nomas pero bien 7.5/10
I knew the two hit singles beforehand. The rest is just filling in my opinion.
Aw snap this was all over the radio in the nineties but age has not been kind to this arch, too cool for school, soundtrack without a film, future retro bleeps and whistles. A few bright moments but nobody is seriously enjoying this lighter then air offering.
la femme d'argent 3.5/5 sexy boy 5/5 all i need ft beth hirsch 4/5 kelly watch the stars 3/5 talisman 4.5/5 remember 2/5 you make it easy 3/5 ce martin-la 4/5 new star in the sky 3/5 le voyage de penelope 5/5 fav was sexy boy least fav remember i really enjoyed it
Top 3 Songs: 1 - Sexy Boy (2) 2 - All I Need (3) 3 - Le Voyage de Penelope (10)
I've always had an interest in this album, but apparently it's taken 25 years for me to finally listen cover to cover. I was well aware of this album when it came out and had an eye on it for a while. It never quite peaked high enough for me to buy the album though and eventually I forgot about it. Now through the magic of streaming, my budget doesn't prohibit me from listening to almost anything. I appreciate this belated meeting. I really love the first two tracks and the last two tracks. The middle loses my interest a little. I'm really not liking the Beth Hirsch tracks. This album had such a great sound and vibe overall though. It's really timeless in my opinion. 25 years old and it still sounds fresh. If you told me this album came out this year, I'd believe it.
Whoever said Air is a better version of Daft Punk has been of their meds. They’re not terrible, but in no way should they be compared to Daft Punk just because they have “electronica” vibes
Worse than daft punk.
Love the downtempo style, noted as setting the stage for this genre
Nice chill vibes, nothing too exciting but no criticisms either. Great to have on in the background
quite nice listen while working
Belle ambiance
Funky Occasional spooky Good background tunes for casual joy
I quite enjoyed this and from the first track I thought, are these the people behind The Virgin Suicides soundtrack? They are...not as good as that for me, but maybe because I heard that first and have listened to it multiple times due to it being on this list, but a close second. Going 3.5 stars out of 5 on this one.
Tja, weer van die vage Ericmuziek. Luistert wel lekker weg hoor, maar echt raken doet het ook niet. Meer om op de achtergrond op te zetten in een loungebar.
Hier moet een gebruiksaanwijzing bij. Alleen afspelen op een brakke zondagochtend (of eventueel the day after Nederland-Argentinië). En dan is het een prima plaatje. Recept om de dag verder op te starten: Laat de sterke bak en dit plaatje opvolgen door nog zo'n bak en de Propellorheads.
1 love it 2 y'know it 3 also know it and love it. This the shit
what a curious album this is! some vocals use an autotune-like device (back in 1998! 👵), and sometimes vocals are completely absent. regardless, the vocals here are purposeful when they are used; air knows their strengths lay in their instrumentals. air created instrumentals that match their titles perfectly. this album is 100% dream pop, yes, but it's more than that. there's some seventies soul, a little jazz, electronica. it's an easy listen but i still found myself so intrigued so i paid a lot of attention. 3.5
I felt like the electronic aspects of this album were cleverly subdued and underplayed, and I really enjoyed how it was presented. I definitely heard Daft Punk elements in this, as well, which is probably no coincidence considering both groups are French duos. Unlike the last "dream pop" album I heard on this project, this album managed to stay super interesting by having a lot of dynamic tones and bizarre sounds across the tracks -- ultimately, I like it when my dream pop comes with some obscure stuff to break up the ambient monotony, and this album did just that. This was dream pop, but the dream is your life in the form of an artsy and slightly trippy French film. Very chill, very ambient, very classy, but also very uniquely cool and intriguing.
First re listen in years and at first thought it had aged pretty well…. The song remember has the worst auto tune! I was wrong. The tracks with Beth Hirsch are still beautiful however and sexy boy was proper nostalgic. Enjoyed a relistening but would definitely pick and choose which songs I listen too again.
Like a less depressing but also less interesting Portishead. Made we wish I'd rated Adele lower, it probably deserves to be higher as I might actually put this on as background music.
Really love the first three tracks, from there I lost interest a bit. Very pleasant and chilled out background music.
Great low key, retro mood. I preferred the instrumental to the tracks with vocals. Fave Songs: La femme d'argent, Ce matin là, Talisman, Remember, Sexy Boy, You Make It Easy
Very uneven styles. There electro is good. Some good James Bond type of songs. Will keep a few song in my files.
Rentoa ranskalaista electroa, ihan jees
Veel van hetzelfde, All I Need blijft de topper
This was a nice experience. Confidently relaxed, knowing what it is all the way through. I appreciate that. Favorite track: remember.
Pretty nice album, I am not fan of everything and it is a bit on the lowkey side but most of the songs have a good vibe. I would call it ambience music but I like it ! Solid 3.25 / 5
Ok
POV: It's the 90s and you've just moved into a new house, so you put on "Moon Safari." You're making a television program about moving into a new house, so you put "Moon Safari" on the soundtrack. You're having a bath, so you listen to "Moon Safari." You want to imagine what it's like to be stoned, so you put on "Moon Safari." Or you put on "La Femme d'Argent" and "Sexy Boy" and "Kelly Watch The Stars" and skip the rest. When it's good, it's great, but tracks like "You Make it Easy" are hard to like. "10,000 Hz Legend," Air's follow-up, is better, even if it sounded worse at the time.
Funky and chill
A French Massive Attack?
Listened to this today and even though I'm not an electronic music guy, this was very intriguing. It's something I would play in the background maybe while working or taking a hike. I liked where the music turned and the production seemed very lush.
I've recently been listening to a lot of downtempo electronic and funky music. Khruangbin is on repeat for me. So getting to hear Air for the first time was a welcome surprise. I enjoyed this, would listen again.
hey! i know the first song. I like this song. perfect to listen in the background. although it didnt really get better from there, it was fine.
I guess it's all right
Includes some great songs but they're buried in other very uninteresting songs. Great background music for a Sunday
This Air album has a good groove, but feels like shmalzy jam music at times. I like Air, but this is no Talkie Walkie or Virgin Suicides. Good for background listening and studying. Spacey groove music to liken to Thievery Corporation to. It is not quite TC (thank the lord), but there are moments. Give it a go anyway, even if its a little goofy.
Pretty, great bass lines, good background music to work to.
Kinda boring honestly. But nice to listen to while falling asleep I guess.
Great instrumentals, not my thing
This is a quirky and funky album! Another one of those early electronic type albums that I bet paved the way for some of the great music we have today. Nothing to write home about, except to say we got a fun enough album for the day!
Sets quite the vibe. Can hear it’s influence in modern dream pop like portishead and beach house. Very solid album.
Downloaded the album so I can listen to it more
Skön platta. Bara hört Sexy boy innan.
It was okay
Me ha gustado, pero no creo que me lo pusiese de nuevo. 3.
Air's Moon Safari has a variety of instrumental palettes and some out there experimental jammy cuts, but isn't funky or punchy enough to really stick with me. 6/10
I liked the start of "Kelly Watch The Stars". Oh my gosh this bridge is superb. "Talisman" makes me feel like I'm going on a grand adventure. Ce Matin La is a pretty song. I really enjoy the wind instruments that are used on it. The first couple songs probably could have ended earlier. The last few songs didn't really spark anything for me. 3/5
has some nice chill grooves
Heilt greit, men føle ikkje nåken trang til å hørra da fleire ganga
It's real chill. I dig it.
J’ai écoute cet album souvent il y a une quinzaine d’années. Je l’avais délaissé. Contente de le retrouver, mais ce n’est pas mon préféré. Et certaines paroles sont vraiment quétaines.
This is good electronica with above average songs. It also doesn't fall prey to the am I dance music or am I ambient music dilemma. While that was a novelty 20 plus years ago, others have handled it better since. For me, this is simply average.
It’s was fine. No time for a real review today.
Not my style but solid background music
A bit up and down. Some amazing tunes, some annoying for me, personally.
Never heard of ‘em before now. Let’s enjoy. - La femme d’argent – Nice space rock/electronic instrumental track. Cool bass and percussion groove. Nice airy key and guitar sounds. Didn’t need to be 7 minutes though. The second part is a bit worse than the first. Ending synth solo isn’t my thing. Really a 3:50 great song and 3:10 decent song. The whole effect is definitely a positive one though. - Sexy Boy – More robotic vibes on the intro. Some distorted vocals on this one. Good bass. More repetitive than I like. Synth solo in this one is quite nice though. Also too long. - All I Need – One of a couple tracks featuring Beth Hirsch on vocals. I don’t know who she is, but she has a nice voice. This is nice one. Very chill, doesn’t overstay its welcome, nice vocals, and nice tone. - Kelly Watch the Stars – Bouncier electronic track. Distorted vocals and repetitive beat. Not my favorite. Not bad, but just a throwaway electronica track. - Talisman – Slower track with a dronier sound. I like the violin in this one. Another decent track that I doubt I’ll come back to. - Remember – Don’t like the vocals here but the “remember” refrain is alright. - You Make it Easy – I like this one. The click beat is nice, and the vocals are good. The other Beth Hirsch track, and so far those are my two favorite. No true climax, but a decent vibe. - Ce matin-la – Nice echoey part to open along with chill guitar. Cool trumpet. One of the more restrained and shorter tracks, that’s also among the least repetitive. I like it. Ending solo isn’t may fave though. - New Star in the Sky – Not a fan of the intro on this one. Not sure what instrument that is at the beginning, but I dislike the sound. Bass is nice though. Rest of the song is quite good, actually.. Just the beginning that drags it down. - Le voyage de Penelope – More of a jazz vibe on this one. I dig it. Probably my favorite track on the album, actually. It’s a good instrumental that is concise and has some neat solos. Decent low-key electronic vibes. Nothing that just blows my mind, but it’s cool for chill listening. I doubt I’ll remember it much in the future. Pretty much the definition of a 3/5 for me. Even though there’s not many tracks I’d add for listening later, there’s lots of decent stuff on here, and the album as a whole is definitely a good experience to listen to. A little bit more memorable tracks or fewer weaker sections would bump this up to a 4 easily. Top Tracks: - La femme d’argent – Good instrumental, especially the first half. - All I Need & You Make it Easy – Beth Hirsch’s vocals are great on these! - Le voyage de Penelope – Nice instrumental to finish off.
This album came out white I was in high school so there is definitely some nostalgia listening to it. Not the kind of music I'd listen to all the time but i enjoyed it today!
Cool, funky, but didn’t save any.
La femme d'argent-The vibes are great, song kinda gets in a groove and works had to keep it fresh. Sexy Boy - Vocal sounds like a drugged out Brigitte Bardot. It gets old pretty fast. All I Need - The mouth sounds are disgusting. The French accent is distracting. Why not sing in French? Kelly Watch the Stars- It is a song Talisman - Nice strings Remember - Snare sound is great. Robot is sad. "Foréveur" You Make It Easy - Again with the mouth noises and the heavy accent Ce matin-la - Favorite track. Has a nostalgic feel without feeling too cliché. The ooohs at the end are a bit out of tune though. New Star In The Sky - Again with the robot voices...We don't hear the lyrics... Le voyage de Pénélope - It *Scritch* encap*Scritch*sulates *Scritch* the *Scritch* vibe *Scritch* of *Scritch* the *Scritch* album. Overall: -Production is great, sounds open(HDR) -Smooth grooves, feels like background music -The album is quickly boring if you are listening actively -Most songs feel like they never start. -Would I listen to it again: No
Was okay, not really music I usually listen to but not bad as background music
Not bad, not a classic IMO though.
3, PEACEFUL
Good chill vibes
i think i get it. but it didn't really move me
Sitting on a sandy beach after a night spent clubbing, not sure whether it's tomorrow yet or still yesterday, a breeze cooling your skin as you watch the sun rise with the single-serving soulmate you met hours ago is the perfect time to listen to this album. It's lovely, gentle, and warm, but doesn't work nearly as well on a rainy autumn evening in England. It needs the right setting to be properly enjoyed. I'd re-listen more often if I had a beach.
maybe the first electronic album ive enjoyed
Good office music. Mellow, relaxing vibes all the way through. This album would be great for road tripping as well, very daydream-y and great to drift away into. 3.5/5 for me.
recommended for: seducing french astronauts. vive le french touch. This is good chillout music. I've listened to a bunch of these songs but never really registered the artist or gone deeper. Sexy Boy is a personal favorite. I don't really like the songs with Beth Hirsch. I struggle with electronica with whispy vocals (Enya vibes). Didn't really go much deeper on Air than the hits after listening to this, but I did go and listen to the `French Touch` spotify playlist. leaning 3 - good.
It was really good, probably ahead of its time, but too mellow throughout for me. 3/5
My second album by air, much more enjoyable gab the first and recognised a few songs from it. Good chilled dance album.
Starts out funky af. Solid background groove music that I could chill to at a low key party.
some of it sounded like elevator music but some of was really great! my faves were Sexy Boy, Kelly Watch the Stars, and New Star in the Sky!
Couple cool songs. Album is all vibes
bu
Background music with some highlights here and there, but not enough to make me want to actively listen to this again.
Fun enjoyable listen
lambent l'ambient
A good, solid album. Enjoyed it, but didn't adore it. They're one of those bands where you think "oh I don't think I've heard of them." But then you hear "Sexy Boy" (my fave track, which delights in its own campiness) and you're like "Oh, duh. Yeah, they're the ones who did "Sexy Boy." THAT'S why they sound familiar." Anyway, I would recommend anyone give this a listen but not a re-listen. The song production here is very stylized and it sounds pretty dated now. But it's not a bad album. I get the appeal.
It’s pretty vibey and downbeat. I really liked that aspect of it, but the vocals tended to rub me the wrong way. I didn’t really enjoy how tacked on and upbeat they felt compared to the rest of the songs. Although, barring that, every song is good. I still think they lack some type of oomph like other electronic albums, but otherwise this album was a nice experience. Favorite track: Ce Matin-la
I appreciate it as a vibey album with a pretty wide soundscape, but it's a combination of sounds that fails to keep my interest for its runtime. I accept its place on this list and the things the album offers though I don't see myself coming back to it. Highlights: 1, 3, and 7.
Fine, but I like my electronic music to have more edge
Overall, this was a good album for focus. Not excellent by any means, but it does the job (while you do your job). I didn't really have any moments of "wow, this is really nice!" but felt fine the whole time so it's getting a 3. The most 3-ish of the 3s I've given, I think.
Airy
Airy
I think I had a few Air songs back on my iPod, back in the day. I first three songs on this album are great! But I'm not a fan of the remainder of the album. Still, it's not bad.
These blokes love keyboards
Started out great but the end of it kind of fizzled out.
3/5 niceish
I loved this when it came out, now though, it sounds a bit bland.
More than just background music. I enjoy this album more and more the more I hear it. I think it is very strong for its genre. 3.5/5
Tja, het heeft we iets, en die bekende nummers zijn echt wel tof, maar het geheel is ook wel wat saai en zweverig.
Not familiar with Air, but I enjoyed most of the album.
Goed voor op de achtergrond
Meh. Uninteresting electronic music.
Decent album, not really my bag. I can see how this band/album was so influential in early electronica. Less canned, more actual music. I did find myself enjoying most of the basslines, especially on "La femme d'argent."
Fairly general French electro pop. Decent for ambiance.
Love this bit of French Electronica history, some superb tunes on here, the Jazz influenced opening track, "The Femme D'Argent" and of course the hugely popular "Sexy Boy" and "Le Voyage De Penelope" a good example of the music that shaped the late 90's and the Noughties. I am not an electronica aficionado but i do like this. Not in my collection, can see it's merits for this list.
Inconsecuente.
This is the 2nd album by Air I've heard and honestly.. it wasn't that great. Just fine. Nothing to write home about. The other one I enjoyed much more than this. 2.5/5.
Interesting and enjoyable.
Wasn't the best thing ever but was an easy listen. A few gems in there and those that are not are still easy listening. I didn't hate it but will most likely never listen to again.
La femme d'argent: Very nice and smooth. Gets your head moving. Baseline is very very nice. Key riffs and jazzy chords nice. Really 'nostalgically futuristic' feel to it. Probably a bit too long, though the synth line at 6:00 is good. 3/5 ------ Sexy Boy: Too much going on, but in its sparser points it makes for nice listening. Has that similar futuristic feel as the opening track. Keys at 2:30 are okay. 2.5/5 ------ All I Need (feat. Beth Hirsch): Interesting vocals if not the greatest lyrics (very sampleable). The keys are again very nice, as are the chords. Vocoder/bass synth? at 3:08 is very nice - a lot less overbearing than the bass of Sexy Boy. 3/5 ------ Kelly Watch the Stars: Bass pretty nice. A bit samey. Vocals are somewhat annoying. Slightly cheesy even. 2.5/5 ------ Talisman: Really nice chords and bassline. A serious level up from the previous tracks. Drums also nice. Pads are nice. Very dreamy and spacey. Strings maybe a bit much. 3.5/5 ------ Remember: Vocals not so annoying, but again too much going on. 2.5/5 ------ You Make It Easy: Nice drums. Beth Hirsch is good. Guitar is nice. Chords okay. Too much going on after 3:00. 2.5/5 ------ Ce matin-la - From "L'uomo in più": Makes for a soft and pleasant listen. The wah-wah organ stabs are the unnecessary addition here, but not unpleasant. The vocal backing is nice. Very nice track. 3.75/5 ------ New Star in the Sky: Easy listening. Second longest track on the album but manages not to be boring where shorter songs failed. 3/5 ------ Le Voyage de Penelope: Synth line is beautiful. Chords very nice. Clearly left the best to last. Very nice bass guitar and pads. Really really nice. 4/5 ------ Overall: The tracks have a tendency to step a few steps too many over the line of cheesiness. Though not overly long generally speaking, all of the songs get to a point where you're actively waiting for them to end. Some very nice production and instrumentation but often overshadowed by the amount of stuff going on in each given track. The album is at its strongest with 'Talisman', 'Ce-matin la', 'New Star in the Sky' and 'Le voyage de Penolope' - those being the most minimal and jazzy tracks. 3/5
Ihan miellyttävää taustamusaa, mut Airilla on parempiakin kipaleita.
Best Song: All I Need. The female vocals were a nice addition. Really chill track. Worst Song: Remember. The reverb on the snare doesn't sound great. Overall: A good chill album to have on in the background. Sunday morning coffee type music.
Meh
quite good
I kinda dig it, not really for me though
Nice, but it’s not my kinda music
Pleasant, and a little more interesting than I thought it would be
Electronic music isn't really my thing, but this was alright. A bit easy-listening-ish for me, but some of the tracks that were more reminiscent of Alan Parsons Project or Pink Floyd were pretty cool. Kinda liked the one that sounded like ELO too. Funny anecdote - when I listened the first time I had some playback issue and the last 3 minutes of the first song were just silence. I though, "what a strange way to start an album." But I went back and re-listened and figured out what happened. 3 stars.
Surprisingly decent electronic album with enjoyable melodies and also some vocal songs
I dunno how I felt about this. It made me feel uneasy but in a good way. It had an atmosphere but it was magical
A great album for chill, delightful to hear them channeling their inner Serge Gainsbourg.
Chill and dreamlike.
The standout songs were with a singer, and there was one with an interesting MOOG sound. Overall it was ok, maybe innovative for the time but doesn’t hold up too well to me.
I was expecting more Big Beat era dance music but it was very chill. Maybe too chill for me.
It's very pretty. And I could see putting it on if i was in the right mood, but it's not going to get a lot of playtime.
I don't love this, but I do like it. There are just enough good choices here to keep me listening.
The background music to a tastefully-lit European sex party. Pretty good.
Cool enough. I'd still rather be listening to Portishead.
Oh man. I remember when this album came out, and I pretended to love it, but really only loved the opening track. But they're French! Honestly, it was all just to swoopy and chill. Well, sadly, 23 years later I'm old enough to find this to be great background music while I work. Apparently you have to be old to really dig this.
Different
Funky, and really french. Really enjoyed it :)
Electronic French duo 'Air' successfully executes atmospheric downtempo music, albeit lacking much flair. The minimalist approach to both arrangement and production lay the groundwork for an effective laid-back record, which 'Moon Safari' definitely encapsulates. Perfect for disconnecting from the world with its unsophisticated musical backdrop, the record remains polished despite weaknesses stemming from its hermetic nature.
Very solid ambient. Would listen again.
Very chill stuff.
Surreal moments with pop undertones with an after taste of anxiety.
6/10
The first song was relaxing to listen to. The rest are alright, lot of electronic stuff, aligned to the period this came out in. 6/10.
I have definitely heard "La femme d'argent" and a few others in a movie or something. Would not have listened to this on my own and don't think I would have found it either. After giving it a full listen you can definitely hear it's influence on songs released today. #1 New Star in the Sky #2 La femme d'argent #3 Sexy Boy #4 Talisman
meh
Good, yet not strong feelings regarding this album. Tomorrow I won’t remember anything about it. A pleasant enough spin. 3.5.
Nice stuff
What Daft Punk could be if they didn't suck. Best track: Talisman
Enjoyable
forgettable
Good study music.
Very chill album, not really my style but still nice
basslines for dayyyyys Brain eno esque
It's fine, not my cup of tea.
“Sexy Boy” has aged better than a lot of other singles of its era. Air picks a lane and stays there, which makes for a coherent record, even if I don’t see myself revisiting it.
not my personal taste but it wasn't bad
First track best Sexy Boy artist Potential but pretty flat Don't like female singer
Really liked it pretty groovy would definitely have done homework to this music wish there were half stars 3.5
Good album. Reminds me of elevator music but in a good way. I usually don’t like this type of music but this was interesting. 3/5
Interesting electronic synth-wave tracks.
Unlike most electronica producers, Air had musical ideas that stretched beyond samplers or keyboards, and Moon Safari found those ideas wrapped up in music that was engaging, warm, and irresistible.
Air does a great job here presenting a group of well-crafted electronic pop songs. The duo presents Moon Safair as a playground of synths, but with some buoys of organic and familiar samples floating along the surface to not get lost. Fav tracks: Kelly Watch the Stars and Remember
Based on my prior encounters with Air in several soundtracks, I was surprised how eclectic and varied their style is from track-to-track. Not all of it clicks for me, but there's a handful of excellent lite electronic pop songs. That sample of "Do It Again" on "Remember" came out of nowhere! The duo's attention to detail and arrangement choices are consistently intriguing and tasteful, as well, which pushes it up a notch for me. Rating: 3.5/5 Favourite tracks: "La femme d'argent", "Kelly Watch the Stars", "Remember"
Definitely interesting. It's really 'close' to the style of music I am into, but it didn't fully capture my fancy. I don't think it was bad at all, it's just so casual groove it was hard for me to be into it.
Más electrónica, no puede ser 🙃, pero está si me gustó xD
I'm probably one of the few folks who does not know this album, but its chilled, repetitive loungecore had me happy to listen to the entire record. I will again.
Enjoyed this, it brought back a lot of 90s nostalgia.
Some lovely sounds, slightly diminished by over-exposure over the years. A bit of filler at the end.
Quite like this. It’s like a more interesting daft punk. 3/5
Estilo reposado. Mezcla de sonidos chillout y música electrónica. Fácil y relajado de escuchar. Sin sobresaltos. Variadamente instrumental
Chill
Interesante disco de música electrónica. No es mi estilo, pero se deja oir
Lo-Fi daft punk?
Good one to chill to.
Sexy Boy sounds like a song I've heard before. I def love this song. All I Need - Sounds like Ani DiFranco singing with them, but it's Beth Hirsch. Who I will now have to seek out and listen to. I'm into her voice!
I like this a lot. Music sounds familiar and I swear I’ve heard this album before, good to listen to again!
Very smooth and some cool-sounding electronic stuff. Not usually my speed but I enjoyed it.
Super chill French
I’d heard a few Air songs before, so I knew what I was in store for. Very synthy. Not really catchy, but enjoyable nonetheless.
It was something. Not my something though.
Good sound, but it was a bit repetitive.
Nice
Nice but dim
Didn‘t know this band before but I quite enjoy their music. It‘s nice background music while working.
I've heard some of this album before and didn't know it was Air. I don't need to hear some of that album again though so it's fine
Indflydelsesrig elektronisk musik, soundtrack-agtigt, meget stemningsfyldt, atmosfærisk, synthesizer
New scaling now
5/10
Great for a soundtrack, not for trying to stay awake at work on a Tuesday morning
This definitely want as bad some other electronic music I've heard. This is much more mellow and does have the annoying sounds you hear in a lot of them and is more musical and melodic. Though still just not a fan of electronic music.
I know “Sexy Boy” from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. The rest of the album wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be, still just background music to me.
I have not heard this before. None of these songs sound familiar which is surprising since this record came out when I was in college, I guess no one in my orbit was into this at the time and neither were the radio or MTV. I guess MTV had pretty much stopped playing music by this time. This starts off good with some nice downbeat with some funk keyboards, but it kinda stagnates halfway through and begins to sound more like easy listening and it ends on a dud. I think this could have been a better album if a few songs were cut, or if the entire back half was cut and it was released as an EP.
Interesting
Kind of ok but not my style
Kinda sounds like bad TV show music. Remember is a cool track tho
Moon safari by Air wasn't amazing and was background music at best, I very easily zoned out while listening
(PRE-LISTEN) I have a lot of work to do today, so for once I am kind of glad to see an electronic album pop up. That's about as kind as I can be. (LISTENING) This music makes my ears glaze over. I had good friends who listened to this stuff back in the day and it made me want to spend less time around them.
seems to me like slightly elevated quality of elevator music or very high quality XXX movie soundtrack... I had never heard of them before and probably wont again... Objectively its very nice sounding and great production value. You can tell they spent days just playing around with sounds, effects and mic placements. I respect if they influenced others but its hard for me to fully appreciate. "Sexy boy" was very enjoyable though.
vibe decente, mas nao vai nda pra playlist. uma experiencia legal e diferente como album, mas nao vou revisitar. nota 3,6
If you're in need of something supremely innocuous and sleep inducing, this is for you. Pleasant and soothing but hardly challenging, innovative or seminal in any way.
Mellow, reptitive. Otherworldly/farout vibe. Several odd instruments. Nothing particularly noteworthy.
An album that was so chill that I forgot it was playing multiple times while I was supposed to be listening. This wasn't devoid of talent, but there was nothing to latch onto. It's completely ignorable, which in a way is worse than being bad.
All I Need is pretty good due to the vocals but I don't really need the rest. Fine as background music.
I couldn't even finish it
Aburrido.
Es buena música para tener de fondo, pero no es más que eso. ↑: La femme d'argent, You Make It Easy, Le voyage de Pénélope ↓: –
As a prog rock fan, I am no stranger to long songs. I'm not feeling the need for a track to get in and get out so to speak. As a fan of instrumental and electronic music I'm no stranger to repeating motifs, and find them really cool and helpful sometimes. There is nothing interesting enough in this album for each song to be clocking in at 5-6 minutes. The same 15 second loop with minor variations repeating a dozen times holds very little interest for me. A couple tracks were better than the others, but ultimately nothing here really begs me to listen to it again, and I'm sure I'll have already forgotten what it sounds like in a couple days.
Rarísimo, solo conozco la canción que sale en "10 cosas que odio de ti".
Mitäänsanomaton. Katoin että oli huomattava määrä kuunteluja mutta en kyllä saanut ideasta kiinni
Not for me
"Le voyage de Penelope" favorite track of album
90s equivalent of lofi beats to study to and painfully fucking boring lounge jazz. Another piece of evidence to add to my “most 90s music is boring and toothless” file
“You Make It Easy” is a great song but I felt pretty bored to the rest of the album. I would give this a 5/10 at most…
I can see how some people would like it, it's personally not my cup of tea. It's very creative I'm sure, to my ears though it just sounds like a whole lot of pretentious noise.
I almost finished this, and while I didn't dislike it, I didn't like it much either 2 stars
not really my genre, but i think some of the songs are good, for example “all i need” is very nice, it feels like being suspended in the atmosphere
You'd think I'd like this based off my passionate undying love for Daft Punk, but Air in comparison comes up thin. I'm not too into the whole chill-out lounge thing. It's like the music is trying to seduce me. That might be a weird way of putting it, though there are moments where I can respect a sound here or there. The horns on Ce Matin La remind me much of Sgt Pepper's and who doesn't like that? I'll say this: As much as I love it, Something About Us isn't the reason I love Discovery. Therefore, an entire album of that vibe does not inspire. I MEAN it's ALRIGHT like...(5/10, 2/5 on this scale)
After the first song they all sounded the same. Way too digital with too little of the human touch.
Eh…
Fun, not sure I'll go back to it, but it was a good time
Not for me. But if course the number everyone knows is quite catchy.
forgetfull. not my music
I must not have been high enough to appreciate this one
It was all right. I thought I would end up liking it a lot more after the first two songs, but in reality, all you really needed to do was listen to the first two songs. It's all pretty much the same, it had some interesting parts but overall just kind of boring
Duller than I wanted it to be. A couple of good tunes don't save it from being like something conjured up on an app as "focus music"
No es de mis favoritos, aunque para la epoca supongo que fue un hit
Escuchable
Ehh. The Beth Hirsch songs were nice because of the vocals but the rest of the album was pretty droning with robotic vocals that didn't do much for me. Seems like Daft Punk without the funky/catchy hooks and sampling.
Not really my cup of tea, there is not a lot more that I can say
4.5/10
If I were the sort of person who liked mood music, I might be into this
meh, dont like it
full instrumental frances, tiene sus cositas pero 2/5
Es muy soundtrack
