I wasn’t familiar with this and then I listened and realized I knew several of these songs. Enjoyed this album, it made nice background music for work. 4.25 if we could give partial.

I thought this album was going to be completely new to me, but I do remember Sexy Boy from back in the day. I'm much more receptive to atmospheric music than I was then, so I ended up enjoying the album quite a bit.
I had no prior knowledge of this band, so it was a pleasant surprise to enjoy their music. This album was very relaxing and reminiscent of Daft Punk. The songs flowed together coherently and I felt some semblance of an overarching love story being told.

Maybe it's because of my lack of musical erudition, or because of french synth of the same period of time sounds similar - this sounds exactly like Daft Punk for me. It's not bad, it's just hard for me to take Air as a unique band. I like common idea of such music, it's dzen and psychodelic. But for me it sounds too innatural and electrical. Also I can't recognise any shift in vibe or common idea of album, while listening to this genre, cause every track sounds literally the same :) P.S. Kelly watch the stars!

I’m certain I’ve listened to this before but don’t remember it. Looking forward to revisiting. Starts by sounding like the setting music to a cool crime movie. I’m realizing this is like trip-hop music. Really enjoyed it! I don’t hold it as high as Mezzanine or the first Massive Attack album but it’s very good.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed listening to this. At first I thought it was not for me, but the more I listened, the more I liked it. It certainly was good dance music. My toes were tapping.
I've really liked the Air albums that I've got on this list. I like Virgin Suicides better than this album, but this one works great as well. Their music is very atmospheric, and they play around a lot with the texture of the music to keep it from getting dull. 4/5
While parts became a bit repetitive for my taste on some tracks, it was well interesting enough to hold my attention. My only other prior experience was with the Virgin Suicides soundtrack, which was equally enjoyable. Would definitely be adding this to the queue to throw on while programming. I've always wanted to really like Air, but they just feel a bit flat to me. It's pleasant enough, but I'm never truly engaged.
Engaging from the first to last note. The sound is one minute taking you through space, the next it’s forcing you back down to Earth. There’s not much I would chance on this.
Good, solid album. Sexy Boy specifically really caught my attention.
Really enjoyed this album. Sounds like a fusion of Gorillaz, Daft Punk, Indie, Lofi, triphop, Portishead. 4.85
First half was magical and transporting and gave me a real positive uplift. My interest did wane after Talisman- second side syndrome - but those first five songs are belters.
This was just fine, but hard to get excited by it. I don't know if this set some of the standards or is falling in line with others in its genre, but I heard a lot of stuff that seems to permeate this type of atmospheric electronic music — the lilting bass lines and pads, for one. So, this was pleasant, but I couldn't discern anything that set this apart from others in the genre.
Sexy Boy has long been a favorite and one I play often. The first track is a banger, too. Love their bass tone. The rest of it, though? Meh.
Absolutely love this album. I've loved for a long time...since the days of Napster when I first downloaded some of these songs. While the same chill vibe throughout, each of the songs are pleasantly different that it's such a lovely journey to traverse with Air.
Wallpaper music in my view. Not objectionable like a lot of stuff on here but not memorable on any way. The music just doesn’t engage.
I would have never usually listened to this album, I but it actually surprised me as I recognised some of the music.
Honestly, a bit disappointing. I loved this album in the 90s. It was so different than anything else, and it was difficult to find this kind of music. I was excited to see it pop up on the list, but honestly, it was just OK. It’s still a good album that I would recommend for lovers of a certain type of music, but revisiting it after a long time away, I found it a bit dry.

Et af de albums hvor man kender flere af sangene uden at vide hvorfra eller hvad de hed. Det hele bliver lidt kedeligt og ensformigt for mig.

French af. Took a couple of listens to warm up to, but after it clicked, it really clicked. You Make It Easy and Remember are highlights.
This has got to be up there in terms of a smooth start to an album. The first few minutes of the opening track are entrancing. The second song makes for a good follow up as well. I find that somewhere in the middle I lose my sense of place and my mind has surely wandered. But maybe that's okay on a Moon Safari — it doesn't detract from my impression of the record too much given that it always pulls me back in again on its own. It's both timeless and of its time.
Much more of a vibe than I was anticipating. Electronica simply never does it for me, but I really felt a cohesive project and musical progression, which almost never happens in albums like this for me. Favorite track: Le voyage de Penelope

This sounds like every kinda-indie movie from 2000-2008. Not in a bad way, and there were a couple songs that sort of grabbed me, but it just doesn’t do much for me overall. Tempted to round up to 3 because it’s so funny that the cover says “French Band” on it, which I like.

This album is amazing. If Air just would have released La femme d'argent alone and did nothing else - they would still be remembered. Instead, we were blessed with the rest of this album. Highlights include La femme, All I Need, Kelly Watch the Stars, Ce matin-la and Le voyage de Penelope.

Day two. I got really excited for a moment there. I thought it was recommending an album by Moon Safari that I had never heard. But no, this is an album named Moon Safari, by Air. Okay. I've heard of this, but its a new listen for me. Its a very relaxing electronic album. Very chill vibes. Every song has had a cool bass groove. I can dig the dreamy vibe here, and it sounds great through the headphones, blocking out the silliness going on around me. But, its just kind of generic in the end. I've heard many similar albums that were just better. In the end, it just got me more excited for the new album by Moon Safari that is coming out this week. Himlabacken Vol. 2. Swedish prog rock with incredible vocal harmonies.
This has a really good Jazz vibe to it that I want expecting. When I saw French electronic music, I was anticipating more of a rave or dance vibe. It's been a pleasant morning listen.
I loved this album, it was full of cool synth parts, and has great vocals and cohesion. reminds me a lot of portishead and mort garson’s plantasia.

Incredible album - Been a favourite for years. Combining electronica/trip-hop. Many memorable and interesting songs. Would’ve rated 5/5, but in retrospect there are some slightly ‘duller moments’ in the middle of the album. Albums from massive attack/portishead just beat out. 4.2/5.

For being almost 30 years old, it sounds surprisingly fresh. Definitely an interesting listen, although it didn't blow me away.
Moon Safari was an okay, if uninteresting album. The songs were pleasant enough to listen to but they didn't really have too much distinction and enough to really set them apart and allow for a more unique listening experience like i would have wished. Early chillout
Great start with "La femme d'argent" and "Sexy Boy". I didn't really enjoy "All I Need" and "You Make It Easy". However, "Talisman" was another highlight for me. All in all, I really enjoyed listening to to the album.
I like the idea of a moon safari more than the music. But I also just really like the idea of a moon safari.
This album is totally different that music that I listen to, but this is the whole idea of this app, right? There's some decent stuff on this album but, I wouldn't seek it out again, though.

This album is right at the edge of synthetic and electronic, but it also has two almost acoustic track. They give a lot of the same energy as daft punk but ... worse? Less? The whole thing was just a little forgettable. Favorite track was Kelly watch the stars.

Weird, fun, electronica. Some bad vocals. Sometimes very repetitive. Good beat though. And a few really good songs along with other bad ones and some with just good moments. Glad I got to hear this. One song seems like it was used in a bunch of commercials :)
Another album I already know! I’ve always thought of this album as being sort of an onomatopoeia: it sounds exactly like what a band named Air would write. The breathy vocals, the buoyant synths, the gentle arrangements. “Kelly Watch The Stars” was my introduction to Air, and remains my favorite song of theirs. “Sexy Boy” is also a bang up track. Overall, a great album, but Air will only ever be my second favorite French electronic music duo from the 90s.
I LOVED this album. A solid 4.5/5 for me but I’m gonna bump it upwards because it was such a surprise. This is what I wanted Royksopp’s album to be. A down tempo, chill album that forays into other genres. As a huge fan of Daft Punk, Justice, DJ Mehdi and other 90s French Electro artists, I can see a lot of influence from this album in their later works. Hell, Discovery by Daft Punk seems like it took a lot of its down tempo inspiration from this album. Really solid. This is going on the rotation for sure

I think I was already familiar with about half of this album as it's been used in adverts and various forms of media over the last couple of decades. It's solid, good at times, although it does drift into "background music" territory a touch too often.

Not bad background music
I wasn't familiar with Air before but this album is really fun. I am interested in checking out their other albums now. They're a nice complement to Daft Punk, the only other French electronic act I know from the modern era.
Still sounds really good. I don’t like the two songs with Beth Hirsch as much as I used to— her vocals give me strong ‘generic late ‘90s female guest singer’ vibes. I think I’d still like those two songs with a different lead singer. Someone with breathier vocals like Francoise Hardy, who sang on one of the b-sides of the Sexy Boy single. Anyway, Sexy Boy is still great. I’ve had it, along with Remember and Kelly Watch the Stars, stuck in my head on a loop for the past several days. Several of the instrumentals deserve mention as well, providing some of the strongest material on the album. I’m glad this still sounds good. I really liked Air’s material up through Talkie Walkie, after which there seemed to be a sharp decline in Air quality. I’d probably give this a 4.5. Some days I round up and some days I round down. I’m feeling generous today.
I think I first heard about Air from my friend Mike in 2004 when Talkie Walkie released, and initially resisted them based on hearing that album's three singles over and over. I've since grown to love Air. I like this album start to finish and it's a rare album I wouldn't skip a track on. Fantastic use of the Fender Rhodes and just excellently mixed. 5 stars and that's not just because Robert Dimery has been giving us a lot of stinkers recently.

Beautiful album to relax and chill to. The synths, pads and other instrumentation just all weave together so well to create an ethereal and transcendental piece of art that manages to be extremely soothing and relaxing, but still does enough to never become old or stale. It's one of the highlights of the Downtempo genre for sure. While it's certainly not one for driving or working to, this is absolutely the kind of thing I can just chill with. I think this'd make for a good one to get on vinyl. Favourite: All I Need

Initial Thoughts: A band (duo?) I've never heard of but 2m monthly listeners on Spotify? Let's see what's up. Final Thoughts: Mom can we have Daft Punk? No, we have Daft Punk at home. Daft Punk at home: Good album, wished it was more catchy (see meme above). I feel like this album is that "safe zone" in a video game before you fight a boss. A place to save, heal up, and ready for the end of the game.

I found it a bit boring, to be honest. Like they took all the fun and exciting elements of electronic music, removed them, and made an album of what was left.. I still kind of liked it, but probably won't listen again.

I remember sexy boy. I enjoyed all of the tracks up until Talisman. Then I wasn't a fan of the second half. Decent music for studying or while I mark.
Boring and repetitive
Brilliant album from start to finish. I picked up this album from a record store in NYC back during spring break in 2005. I fell in love with this album immediately and long to savor it for the first time again.

Dreamy, spacey electronic music. Some of the sounds are a little dated but overall it’s not a bad album. Easy to listen to and not repetitive like some songs on similar albums.

Have you ever been out drinking with a few friends and it gets to that late hour where you can either go home or get weird? Your friend says he got a text from an acquaintance that is having a gathering across town. You put up a fake fight but inevitably will go because you don't want to be drunk alone at home. You all share a cab and with every block you drive you notice you're getting farther and farther from home. When you do arrive, the building as some jerryrigged lock system that you've been given vague instructions to and the four of you struggle for 10 minutes before a stranger just let's you in. You get up to the apartment and knock - the door is opened by a white guy with dreads...he hugs your friend and welcomes everyone in. It smells of incents, weed, and definitely a hint of cats. You look around and there are a few people there and they are all zonked out on the couch. You're told there's beer in the fridge and you go get the least offensive IPA of the bunch. You are then offered some sort of powder by your friend. Is it H? Is it K? Is it even possibly Coke? It's dark so who knows. So you say why not and take a line. I was definitely not cocaine. You go into a paranoid spiral about getting hooked on H because of this and get dizzy and try to find a place to sit. Your fucked up brain says - go to the bathroom and lay your face on the cold floor. So you do that...wondering when someone will walk in and freak out. You get up the energy to get out of there...you bolt to your friend and say you gotta go. You fly down the stairs and get in the first cab you see, knowing it's gonna be super expensive...but if I start OD-ing there's a person to help. You get home after dozing in the cab...knowing the cabby was judging you. You climb up your stairs to your apartment. Drink a little water and lay down fully clothed, thinking of nonsense until you eventually fall asleep. That's what this album sounds like
sensual, overall nice as background music but not necessarily something I'd listen to with intention save for a few songs. I didn't like the songs with the female vocalist. I heard some Mort Garson vibes for sure

I remember owning this album on CD and relisting to it, it still holds up. Let's face it, Air had so much influence in the downtempo genre and this is just an iconic album. Sure, I originally bought this album because Sexy Boy was in the 10 Things I Hate About You movie, but it did become a key album to help me expand out of my CCM childhood and my main focus towards alternative rock/metal.

Well I did recognise and enjoy quite a lot of this but it didn't blow me away as such! Like I appreciated what is was and felt like it was good music. Maybe a commute isn't the right time. Wish I could give 3.5
Good stuff, like it. I don't know why but Sexy Boy gives me a vivid memory of being in Fopp in Leamington with my Dad. No idea why, it must have just be playing one time and for some reason that memory stuck with me. Isn't the universe weird. FOUR STARS

This album is very famous among my UK and European pals and I know some of the songs well, but I’ve never listened to the whole thing in a shot. I really like it. I can sense how it would have been in everyone’s speakers that summer and beyond, but I can’t totally find my heart in it.
I have no doubt that this is a music genre that many people love, however it's not a genre that I care for so I can't coment.
Instant transport to 1998, and it stands up pretty well, if of its time. Loved it back then. As an album now, there are more longueurs than I remembered, but still enjoyable. 3.5
heavy influence from 70s but so iconically late 90s it felt like college. not my favorite tho… i feel like it’s roughly Sterolab but a bit sleepier. i wonder who came first? took me until Ce Matin-la before i remembered hearing this album before
