Reviews (page 10 of 14)

Chill robot music.

90's synth-pop. Not particularly notable, but pleasant. Pitchfork: 5.6 Rolling Stone: n/a

It's good music, man... It can maybe too mellow for some, but works great for me. Lovely keys textures, really warm and analog. Makes this electronic music has much more heart. Towards the end it might get a bit repetitive but beautiful moment appear throughout the entire thing. It's a high high 3

Bit too "easy listening" for what I'd usually listen too but never heard them other than recognising sexy boy. The last song was the highlight of the album for me but unlikely to be something I seek out again

"All I Need" is een classic. Verder ook lekker rustige muziek

Just another ho-hum 3 star album for me…but I did enjoy it more than I expected.

Enjoyable synth pop.

Nice background music.

Nice and vibey, an enjoyable listen. I really liked You Make It Easy. Not sure I'd revisit, but it was chill for a Monday.

This album sounds more like a soundtrack than their actual soundtrack album.

Not normally my style of music that I actively seek out to listen to, but this album had a nice chill ambiant vibe that I enjoyed.

Tis fine

It was okay, some cool electronic stuff, I liked the intro quite a bit though there was alot of boring stuff

Very laid back, but pretty decent. I like the downtempo electronica vibes. Vocoder use reminds me of Daft Punk, although the songs are a lot more chill-out. 3,7/5

A bit too mellow, but decent as background music.

Heard this before, not really my thing

Was sensation at the time - but hasn’t held up as well.

Another one where I’m not sure why it’s included. Fine but totally mid

It was good, not as good as The Virgin Suicides soundtrack.

Det her overraskede mig positivt. Fint album.

It was aight

It’s ok

7 For sure this one peaks at the first song. Very nice mood though, I’ll give this one another spin some day

The French are really weird with their music. This album has some good stuff on it, and some real head scratchers. "Sexy Boy" sounds like a bad cover of "Stupid Girl" by Garbage, but maybe that's the point? Best song on this album is Ce matin-la. 2.55 / 5 stars

The singles do the heavy lifting. The rest of the album is meh.

Good vintage key sounds. Boring songs.

I forgot this band existed. I used to like it. It's still nice. Back into obscurity.

Perfect soundtrack fodder. I had to google where I knew “Sexy Boy” from. Of course it was “10 things I hate about you” when they are throwing flyers for a party at Bogey Lowenstein’s…. Anyway, It’s decent stuff that fades into the background. No hate from me.

i've definitely listened to this before, so i have a rough idea of what's coming. overall will think i like it. but excited to listen more intentionally - literally air-y, easy listening, groovy I don't have much else to say here. Easy to listen to. Fun, groovy, sexy. Would listen to again, but nothing so mindblowing I need to keep coming back

Really nice ambient stuff. Favorite track: Sexy Boy

A mellow and chill album. It could be mistaken for background music in a film or television show.

Pretty good. Funky. I liked a handful of the songs but could take or leave the rest.

Fun and chill and groovy. Kinda slow in parts but remember, talisman, and you make it easy were interesting and cool

Although I’ve never played this album before, I’m certain I’ve heard it in its entirety just from time spent in hotel lobbies and overpriced bars with floor-to-ceiling windows in years gone by.

Interesting, enjoyed some of it.

Solid 3.5! Really cool sound

The opening track of this album is perfect. From it's groovy bassline to the jazzy keyboard it sets the bar for the record enormously high. Unfortunately the rest of the album then fails to reach that bar. While the closing track is strong is well, most of the middle of the album felt like it was trying to put me to sleep. There were moments that stood out, but overall I found the repetitive vocals weak and most of the instrumentation just became background noise. Overall 3, maybe 3.5. There was enough there I may have to give it a relisten though.

Me gustó, y el anterior también. Muy fresco aunque muy tranqui. Nota: 3.5

Maybe we need more of this kind of chill, atmospheric music these days. It's hard for me to imagine being all in on something like this, but something for the focus and work playlist? Sure.

This album meant a lot to me in the early 00s, but barely registers now. It's a lot of style and vibes not backed up by anything terribly sophisticated or complex musically. A whole lot of bands iterated on the same types of sounds Air was playing with and many of them created transcendent work -- my beloved DJ Koze of course, but also Daft Punk, The Knife, and especially Hot Chip. Even some of their contemporaries like Morcheeba, Zero 7, Röyksopp, and Groove Armada were making far more interesting work from similar tools. It still has its moments, but I'm not convinced its remained essential as anything other than background music at hipster dinner parties (though it's got that down in spades.) I far prefer their soundtrack for Sophia Coppola's "The Virgin Suicides," which also appears on this list, and their follow-up, "Talkie Walkie," which doesn't.

Jim Carrey

An odd mix of pop, new age French

Chill nästan lite interlude vibes

Peaceful. It's... fine.

decent

Fun, foamy, a good ambient album. Perhaps not distinct enough considering the current state of ambience. But considering it's nearly 40 years ago, that's influential then, right?

a little weird, but some were fine. might listen again

Not bad

Não curti tanto

What I listened to was enjoyable enough

3.5 for me

Favorites: La femme d'argent, Talisman, Remember. An extended jam - I like it, it's ambient and atmospheric and groove-able, but some of the grooves do overstay their welcome just a tiny bit. But perfectly listenable!

Cool background music.

Easy going and quite magical. Not super duoer mind blowing though.

Sounds 90s, a little boring, not interested

I can't think of a time where I've heard finer elevator music. Every song seemed to be set to the part of a movie where the camera pans over a city scape. Granted another time or mindset and I could enjoy it. But after the gym this is not it

Sexy Boy

More experimental and artsy than genuinely enjoyable, but still intriguing in this artsiness Personally I'll keep Portishead and the world can keep this one

I suppose you could call this chill out music. Sexy Boy is a very famous tune although not necessarily reflective of the rest of the album. Probably a bit slow for me. Four stars for it's quality but three for enjoyment.

This was a good listen and a new band for me. Some of the songs were a bit long, but easy music to throw on.

Electronic, maybe with earphones

This is a pretty good one. I go back to it every once in awhile. It's never been a banger for me but I can see where some folks would love it. A solid 3-star album.

French vibes jazz Again not my style

Was an okay listen just not my thing

Okay I listened to this one like three times just to be sure but for whatever reason, it just was not landing with me very well? It's fine. No real issues with it. Just not really higher for me

As far as instrumental music, this is not a bad album.

I like this. Vivek and chill, cool bass lines.

Sexy boy will always be a banger, but listening to this album I realized why that was the only song I knew from it. The rest feels forgettable. Ok background music. 2.5

Some excellent moments, but a little low key overall

A very smart, sophisticated album with some killer singles which really, really stand out. Its much more relaxed than other downtempo records I'm used to which usually maintain a certain kind of drive all the way through. Air are happy to pull almost everything out of the mix at points and let the listener float.

An ok mix, reminded me of 10 things I hate about you. Some groovy background listening.

Kind of just the 2 singles and then some other listenable but not super impactful tracks. It's a good background album after the first two tracks but I don't know if its worth having on the list

Cool background vibes. That is all.

I chucked on today’s album after a particularly busy day. This was a lovely soundtrack to unwind to. Interesting textures, and well sequenced synths. C’est très bien. Haut 3 ✨

Great background music for working/exercise but nothing too memorable. Maybe I just wasn’t there to know how groundbreaking this was for the time. French electronica is really good tho

Surprisingly, tracks I recognize (Kelly watch the stars, All I need, Sexy boy)

This was my first album, and I had never heard of this group before. There was much to like about this album. I dug a few of the instrumentals with French titles particularly.

I recognise a lot of these. Was atmospheric and enjoyable even if a little repetitive

First of all, "La femme d'argent" is an absolute classic. Sounded very different to anything else in the mainstream at that time. I'd forgotten how many great songs are on this album. Everything sounds quite 70s, even if there's a lot of electronica and vocal effects. The first half of the album has a pretty amazing 6 song run. Unfortunately, the second half is a bit low energy after that. No surprise that I'm less familiar with the songs in the second half - back in the 90s, I probably zoned out or bailed after "Remember". Still a really great album overall that holds up very well.

Need to listen again. 3.5

Loved the vibe of this album. Led to listening to other really good artists. This album was good bgm.

3/5 esta ricio

Really like this electronic and kinda futuristic album Fav song - You Make It Easy 3/5

Very daft punk, atmospheric, not my typical taste but still pleasing to the ear

really good background music

not forefront but not bad

Mellow, maybe I was just in the wrong mood for this. I can see how it is good but today was not the day for it. 3?

The music i s great background music and reminds me of the void fish music from TAZ. Love it

Quite good. Not sure I'd buy the record (not today) but I liked what I listened to.

It was okay. Didn't do anything wrong, just wasn't for me. Completely fine to have on in the background

Absolute peak electro vibe.

Not really my deal

It is really good, but the more I listened, the less excited I was by it. Started as a 4 and ended up feeling like a 3.

I didn't expect this album to be great, but it was actually pretty nice. It mainly sounded like background music for movies, but it is some pretty cool movie background music. The other songs sounded like it was just LoFi but slightly different, which wasn't too bad either. Overall, it was a pretty decent experience.

cool but we had crazier albums in the late 90s

More like Soon Mafari, am I right?

Virkelig nogle gode sange på, god vibe. Men ikke unskippable.

The album has some interesting songs on it most of which are really catchy. The album does become monotonous after a while.

I can tell that this album is pretty well produced, I just don't think it is my jam.

fucking classic, but feels a little dated. still important for understanding this genre of beast driven dreamscape sound moments.

Never heard of these guys, but somehow know at least half the tracks on this album. Respect. But also, your band name sucks.

I’m not much for this type of music. Atmospheric. Chill. Just ok.

I enjoyed the songs with no vocals a lot more than the ones with vocals. This was quite pleasant, although at times it did feel like listening to the background music on a video game. In small doses this was excellent, as a full album it wasn't quite as a effective.

Moon Safari is a classic example of downtempo music. It’s light, groovy and rather inventive. I think I read somewhere that this album has music that makes everything seem cooler and more fashionable than it is actually is. Accurate description if I say so myself. However, it’s not the kind of music I find myself returning to often.

love sexy boy

This was a pretty decent album, nothing amazing but it did have a song that I recognized from a movie but I can't remember which one lol

Yet again, I'm not much for instrumentals of any variety. This is more unique, at least, thanks to feeling like a really early entry into electronic instrumental music; as I listened I thought to myself, "This just isn't for me, but I bet that the guys from Daft Punk love this." Which says a lot about the overall quality of what's here. All in all, I didn't hate it and took away a few good songs. Favorite songs: You Make It Easy Remember

"Moon Safari was acclaimed by critics. It is credited with setting the stage for the budding downtempo music style." They should have written some down tempo kill songs.

I…think it’s okay. 3/5

A vibe but nothing too exciting

Better than I expected, but still had to skip a few. I know Sexy Boy from 10 Things I Hate About You, and it felt like it was all over the place. That late 90s, dreamy, hopeless sound. Not keen on many of the rest of the tracks. Le Voyage de Penelope is a nice ender. I'm marking it down a bit as 4 is too high a score; I won't return. Never been on a safari.

The bass in this album is the best part about the entire thing. I am pretty sure the first track (La femme d'argent) is in every heist movie made in the last 20 years. This album takes you on a bit of a journey. Each track is almost a different genre, while still keeping it together. A few tracks with vocals do get a bit too repetitive and can be annoying at times.

Not good, but not bad either — kind of mid.

I wanted to like this more, because I’m vaguely aware of its reputation as a “good” electronic album, and yeah, it’s one of the better ones I’ve heard. But when I’ve been inundated by just the shittiest electronic albums on end for the past 2 years because of this list (I literally got one the day before this album), it just kinda drags this (okay) one down. It’s nice. Pleasant enough. I actually listened to it a couple times to see if it would grow on me - and, not really!

Lovely as background music, but not sure I'd go back to it. A couple of songs with piano parts I'd be keen to get more into

3.5 good cafe music

The first album that's completely new to me! Really intriguing, low-volume electronic music. I like the vibe more than I like the songs themselves, but in places it's very cool. The opening track especially. 3/5.

Pleasant enough but quite backroom music-y. Might be a grower

not that bad

Like a good tarte tatin, this album is all about the layers. Shimmering synths, deep pads, sizzling keys and velvet bass drape themselves over pristine beats. Ready for something else after a few tracks, though! Alors, c'est cinematique!

Chill but average

An elegant pop delivery. Great record!

Air Some cool parts and grooves. A lot of this 90’s electronic stuff sounds like a soundtrack. It’s cool for a while but can get kinda boring melodically and dynamically. I liked the vocal songs a bit more.

This album doesnt feel important or memorable in any way. Its like background music vibes for a lounge or something. Nothing bad about it it just feels really safe and kind of generic. Maybe it hit different when it came out. 2.7?

I thought this was pleasant to listen to but never gonna think about it again

Adequate electronic music.

As a long time listener of the band, hearing this album from start to finish has really emphasized to me what a great album '10 000 Hz Legend' is. Moon Safari is a great debut and features some iconic songs, but it also suffers from the lounge/bossanova sound that everyone was doing at the time. Their second album is where Air really shone as artists.

Ok listen. Nothing to write home about but nice chill music.

Not bad

Buen disco ambiental.

Pretty decent instrumentals, but when I think of 1,000 albums that I have to listen to I'm wondering how this managed to make the cut. It's all right but not world-shattering.

Favorites: Sexy Boy, La femme d’argent, & Le voyage de Pénélope. January 16, 1998. Downtempo/Electronica. French/English. 10 tracks. 43:45 runtime.

Generally pretty chill, tracks were either instrumental or had repetitive lyrics. Kinda funky sound. Best song: You Make It Easy Notable(s): Sexy Boy

Previously rated: Virgin Suicides (3/5) *********************** The music on this album was…it just was. Best: You Make it Easy. Worst: Sexy Boy

This was a good album but it wasn't anything special to me. Good compositions in there but I don't necessarily think I'd pull this one up on my own accord to go through again.

Some stuff better than others

Decent

Pas mal

Decent

The vibe is good. So far it’s reminiscent of the soundtrack to a video game that has both sweet and alarming elements. OH, SEXY BOY! OF COURSE I’VE HEARD THIS! A song I truly believed existed only in the realm of perfume adverts. I like this gentle, pleasant, wistful energy.

Makes for easy listening but it isn’t very mind blowing

a chill, mostly enjoyable ride. the two tracks with earnest love pop vocals are cringe duds (sorry beth) that keep it from a 4. skippers. if you’re going to take me on a magic pillow blanket picnic through sunny skies, don’t bring your trite earthbound treacle.

Another Air album? Really? Fine. I will strap in a take the trip. I wonder where we're going this time...I see - back to 1998 which is to say a random space station circa 2072 via France circa 66-73. French pop of old reimagined less for take off than orbit. And orbit is most certainly achieved. A lot to like but also retreads a few to many tropes done better back in the aforementioned era - especially in the back half. Definitely an album you can listen to on a loop especially the three all times that kick things off. 3.5.

I really loved this album immediately. Like the first to songs were so good that I started looking for copies of the album to buy. The problem is that the album falls off super hard after literally the first two songs. The only other song that I saved was “Ce matin-là” which was a fun song. That’s really my only criticism is that the bulk of the album wasn’t bad or lazy, it just didn’t grab me like the first two tracks did. Still worth listening to for those tracks and a chill vibe.

Some pretty good tracks, catchy bass lines

Solid album. But it’s definitely one of those things where you have to be in the right mood at the right time of day.

Great vibey ambient music and mood setter.

If I was high as a kite, coming home from the club at 3am, sweaty, dehydrated, trying to come down so I could get some sleep as the sun comes up, this might be fantastic. But I’m 48 years old, commuting into my office job, desperately needing more coffee and this is putting me to sleep. But, I love the French horn in Ce Matin-La and that song will make my regular rotation. The songs with Beth Hirsch are also beautiful.

Downtempo and chill, some songs I loved. Others I got bored off but for background listen in my office was super chill. Will add to my cycle

It was good. Reminds me of a lot of things. But I'd rather listen to Daft Punk.

Some beautiful light breezy bangers, some OK stuff. Solid overall!

This entire album sounded like a mix of movie soundtracks, but I was still into it?

First track was a killer, from there music stayed pretty solid while vocals were a mixed bag at best.

French electro-pop is definitely not my genre.

Really fantastic album, enjoyed it a lot. Kind of reminiscent of Portishead in the downtempo instrumentals with the occasional Daft Punk-esque vocoded vocals. Didn't know what to expect going in but it was surprisingly enjoyable. 3.5⭐️

Lounge music which is okay as a background filler. Might be enjoyable to switch between the conversation you have, and the varied basslines (melody and tone) with some upright, some electric, and lots of synth bass everywhere.

For a band called Air this slaps. I like the vibe. A couple of these are kinda dull and a few are just good grooves so even if theyre repeated a thousand times its chill.

good for atmosphere/ambience but hard for my brain to listen to without other stimulus, pretty fun stuff though this is like perfect background music and i mean that in a good way, maybe 3.5?

There’s that one song

A fine album that peaks up top and slowly peters out. Very European.

Good vibes

Didn't blow my mind as much as expected, but really nice atmospheric album. Great production and some very cool textures.

Ranges from pleasant background electronica to inoffensive elevator music. Good for working.

Very cool. I never really knew where the next song would go.

Not quite sure where I would fit this music into my rotation. It is chill electronica pop. Like a softer daft punk. A collection of soft, melodic beats and a mixing of synth and electric instruments. It just doesn’t scratch an itch for me, but if I were waiting on a plane and this was the background music as i found my seat? Perhaps…

pretty okay. nice to have on in the background.

good bit also like it gets kinda boring in the end?

Not bad, sounded the an Oceans movie soundtrack.

Extra half star for ten things.

Too much of a background music feel for me

Melhorou, pegou sal agora. You make it easy - Ui som de maré, o vocal voltou. New star in the Sky - Ai que lenga lenga, vamos acabar? Num gosto de gaita vey. Vontade de passar. Passei, chatona demais. La voyage de Pénélope - Bafo o sintetizador. Luxo. 6/10

Very chill… almost TOO chill.

Title track kinda long. Sexy boy chorus kinda sucks good but kinda bland instrumentals, wasn’t what I was expecting, dunno if that’s good or bad the tone of the music switches a lot

Better than the Virgin Suicides soundtrack, and I think this rightly reflects what is good and strong about the band. Nice vibe and groove for its genre. I hate to admit it, but “Sexy Boy” (single) is a fun track.

Pleasant enough. Meandering. Instrumentals ok. Not really my thing but I get it

Beste låt «All I need».

From memory (hearing it a few times maybe 20 years ago), this was nice background music that wasn’t really worth a proper listen. On reflection, pretty much the same. There’s more going on sonically than I gave it credit for, hence a 3 star review rather than 2, but I wouldn’t go back and listen again.

Started out strong - I like the sound, especially the bass parts. Unfortunately several later tracks are unbearably drippy which caused my opinion to diminish.

As background music goes, so much more satisfying than the Eno.

Not bad when they actually sing a melody

Sounded airy, light and a bit like a science fiction movie soundtrack. Interesting.

Le femme d'argent - 3/4 Sexy Boy - 2/4 All I Need - 3/4 Kelly Watch the Stars - 3/4 Talisman - 3/4 Remember - 3/4 You Make It Easy - 4/4 Ce matin-la - 4/4 New Star in the Sky - 4/4 Le voyage de Penelope - 4/4

Lo-fi, electro, triphop with nothing amazing about it. Kind of the summary of the genre in general. I listen to this kind of stuff for several hours a month while really needing to focus at work. This music has the ability to put me in a great zone, but honestly for no other reason then it is simple rhythmically and nothing that really deviates from the path. This album accomplishes what it sets out to do (in my opinion) of being something you can set in the background a vibe without really knowing there’s music being played. I like this album and will be listening again soon when I need to get in the zone, but this isn’t anything amazing a feels out of place here. I think the Robert Dimery wants the reader to see the best of the best, and game changing albums in as many genres as he deems fit, but this genre isn’t anything “you must hear before you die.” 6.2/10 #39/1001

Really liked this. Had that SBS Chill vibe. Ambient but not simplistic. Listened to this while on a road trip and liked it so much that I played it three times. No real track stood out for me it was the whole vibe. It shaped my mood rather than demanding my attention. Nicely done.

Heard it before. For some reason I didn't remember anything from the album except for Sexy Boy. But oh man, was it worth listening to the album again. I definitely didn't appreciate it enough the first time round 3/5

I think there was a moment where I felt like I was having an out of body experience but for the most part this was remarkably unremarkable. Something about it needed better production. It was too many sounds and not enough music.

It was OK

interesting and etherial not a bad listen.

Good and calming nice Record. Will definetely get a spin on a warm summer evening. (3.5/5.0)

Good, did not blow my socks off but solid. Works as good background music. Not sure where the elite albums are but this did not feel like a must listen. 6.3/10

Nice atmosphere created here. Certainly not for every occasion, but it's definitely an enjoyable vibe. The single "Sexy Boy" is still the best song, but it's a good record to have in one's collection.

An album I already knew. Some nice songs. Added a couple to my regular playlist.

Is this the soundtrack to Oceans 11? Are Danny Ocean and the boys about to rob a casino? That was my first reaction when I started Moon Safari by Air. (I liked the Oceans’ movies, by the way) Speaking of movies, I feel like I heard Sexy Boy in one but can’t place it right now. That’s gonna bug me. I’ve got to look it up. Hold on. *playing Air for hold music* (See what I did there? I know, it’s not that clever) It was 10 Things I Hate About You! That’s where I heard Sexy Boy! Glad I cleared that up. Anyway… Moon Safari is a decent album. It was a fine listen. I don’t mind some downtempo electronica, but, at best, this is probably just background music. Maybe a late night hang out vibe? I could see that. I will add this to my library for just such an occasion. And if I’m being honest, I could see this album growing on me more over time. It does have that potential. For the here and now though, Moon Safari by Air will get a 3 rating from me. I have the sudden urge for a crepe. 3/5

Not my usual style, ambiant music doesn't resinate with me too much. But I could stick this on to concentrate.

I actually enjoyed this a lot! This is the first electronic album I kind of connected with. Still not super replayable to me but I enjoyed it.

Omalla tavallaan retro fiilistelylevy. 3/5

A lot of fun, reminds me of zero 7

fun background noise. idk that i'd listen again though

Background music but nothing more for me.

Pretty laid back chill vibes, nothing thrilling or two wild, can imagine this being a nice instrumental to have on in the background of a laidback party or something.

I always get nervous when something is categorized as "electronica", but his had some actual music on it. Pleasantly surprised.

its fine

It was okay. The first track seemed like something out of Ocean's 11. 3/5

Good background music. I probably wouldn't choose to listen to it though.

Day 14 Nice sound enjoyed the album #musicsky #albumsky 3/5

Not my cup of tea, but still interesting.

This wasn't really my thing. A couple of OK songs but lyrics like "Sexy boy" or "Kelly watch the stars" repeated 50 times aren't lyrics.

Appreciate it for what it is...just not my thing.

It reminds me of a album you would play in a cocktail lounge. Easy Space Pop Lounge listening with 60s Chamber Pop influences. Will listen again! 3.5/5

Some good songs, some not quite so good songs.

C'mon 1001 Albums, gurl give me nothing!!! If someone took a spy movie's soundtrack and turned it into LoFi or/instrumental music this would be the result. I love boring music though.

La femme d'argent - 5 - Fantastic elevator music Sexy Boy - 1 - Awful everything else was a 3 or a 4 So the rating average = 3

Not something I would normally listen to but it works well as background music. 3 stars or C-.

Not something I'd normally listen to, but I enjoyed it! That being said, I wouldn't rush to go back to it

Not my usual thing, but it's not bad. Very light for lack of a better term. Hard for me to really get into, but provides a nice tranquil background vibe.

Via La France! Completely surprised by how much I enjoyed this album. Always heard them in bits and pieces. This would’ve been a great CD in the car in the 90s

Weird but not bad - 3

This is one of those albums that has been suggested to me many times but streaming services because it's adjacent to other groups I like. However I never seem to quite fully get into it. It is close enough to other things I like that it feels like I should like it for sure but yet...I almost want to say it's too light? Still though I like the overall genre and appreciate the sound so still a 3 star for me.

nice enough

Not my favorite but I defintely appreciate the artistry

Doors are great quintessential Doors. Favorite song is on here but prefer Morrison hotel more. The music defined an era in a lot of ways. One of them being a white artist garnering the fame over his black contemporaries.

meh. a few good tracks

Groupe inconnu.

Heilt greit, men føle ikkje nåken trang til å hørra da fleire ganga

Very funky, kind of psychedelic. Listened to it while cleaning and it was the perfect vibe for that. Enjoyed listening to this a lot!

smooth chill vibes. Could be very soothing in the right context, but not so much my thing.

Very mellow electronic sounds

This is a classic of nineties chill ambient electronica. Definitely not my kind of music, but I listened to this before because it was very popular. The music washes over you with various electronic and acoustic soundscapes. Sometimes some soft vocals, and a persistent muted beat in the background. Some songs try to add some variation but it’s still pretty minimal. It all sounds like a movie soundtrack. Thing is with a movie soundtrack there’s the movie to keep you interested and here there’s nothing like that. It’s all very relaxing but kinda boring. Giving it three stars since it’s good for the genre and I think it's considered an important work and not actively offensive. I just don’t like the genre.

Interesting! Some very cool tracks in here, but also some real boring duds. Never heard of these guys.

Mellow, moody - nice background music

This record is effectively laidback but I find myself wishing it was more off to no good than it is. The synth takes away from the treble and the vocals diminish what could otherwise be a powerful and urgent experience. 'Air' and 'Moon' are apt descriptors of an album that is too spaced out, too ungrounded, too up in the air, and too over the moon. The production is certainly inventive, and while I admire the coherence of the project as a whole, its suave sensibility, exacerbated by Beth Hirsch's singing, serener and even more full of it than Beth Gibbons's, is not one I naturally gravitate to. Perhaps that's just it - I don't want to gravitate - I want to be pushed and pulled and then made whole again. With this, I only hover, or is it drift?

Hauskahkoa.. Kevyttä... air... downte.po... eri asia kuk chilli g and wibing..

I have this album but bought it by mistake. Thought I was buying Moonmadness by Camel which is a classic unlike this. But it’s inoffensive and when playing in the background is fine. 3/5 6/2/25

There are a couple tracks that I do enjoy and already have on playlists, but the Beth Hirsch tracks are awful and boring. I think the Virgin Suicides soundtrack by Air is a much better listen.

Listened to it 3-4 times during the day. Nice, easy going album, with a perfect title. While listening to this, you feel as if you were crusing through space, exploring the surroundings. The album takes you on a journey into the future. There are nice lead lines and riffs throughout the album. The atmosphere is created by nice arrangements and background noise. Being an electronica album, this is really not that repetitive and keeps the listener engaged. Would give it 3.5 if I could.

I was pretty fond of their sound at the beginning, but it kind of lost me as it went on. Still above average for an electronic album

Aw yeah. Just chill. Not an active listen for me but good background.

i wanted to like this more, but it was a pleasant enough listen

Smooth, didn't mind it

Nice to listen while relaxing.

It's this weird, synth-y, acoustic, blues, techno, Enrico Morricone, lo-fi thing. I have never heard anything like it.

Very nice and never heard of the Duo. The Bass is very present over the whole album and gives it a unique groove. The synth sounds are also well crafted and the compositions don't get boring

Better at that star but decent

It's a light, chill electronic album. I liked the sound, even if there wasn't too much to dig into.

I liked this album better than the other album of theirs we listened to. It was soothing and had some good rhythms.

Somewhat interesting

since I had very low expectations on this.....it was better than I expected. not a fan of electronica, but this wasn't bad. had it on while cleaning, so made some nice background music. would I seek it out to listen to again-no, but if it was on I would not object to it

Really chill :)

some good fun. nothing crazy, but it was entertaining and had some head bobs every once in a while.

Unlike yesterday's "faux French electronica", this is actual French electronica, or perhaps dream pop. Super down tempo, kinda chill music. I had their album "The Virgin Suicides" before, which was a score they wrote for the movie of the same name. As electronica goes it's fine. Nothing too spectacular, but much better than most electronica acts. Favourite songs: Sexy Boy, La Femme D'Argent, Ce Matin-la, You Make It Easy Least favourite songs: Le Voyage De Penelope 3/5

Daft punkish. Great background.

Moody in a late '90s way, I dig it although it’s not something I will return to

This album gets significantly better when they don't use the vocoder vocals. "New Star in the Sky" gets a pass because of those strings and guitar chords, but good lord do they take a song from good to alright. I would 100% listen to "You Make It Easy" again. It reminds me of "Sketch For Summer" by The Durutti Collection if it was produced by Everything But The Girl. Actually, whenever Bitch Hirsch makes an appearance, the whole vibe turns very EBTG. Which I'm not super mad at, just an observation. All the songs after this one will probably get played again.

Took all the retro synthy sounds that were bouncing around the clubs and being sampled and wrung within an inch of their lives by djs, and rammed them through a Serge Gainesbourg strainer and used actual music skill to make songs both instrumental and with lyrics. Took all of the spastic insanity out of the stuff too. It's very chill. Recently I was subjected to a Spiritualized album that tried to take two or occasionally three chords and a bunch of reverb and bludgeon me into a trance, or possibly coma, state. "Moon Safari" allows you to stay awake and go about your business. I could do without tracks 3 and 7, which make me want to turn off the record and put on Portishead instead, and without track 8 which mistakenly allows a french horn to play a solo. If you like track 9, go check out the High Llamas, it's quite a bit like them (Hawaii or Gideon Gaye). This is cool, fluffy stuff, easy to listen to, but not easy to produce.

It was fine. I enjoyed most of it and it was a very different style of electronic music from what I'm used to.

If James Bond met Daft Punk for a French electronica adventure, this would be the resulting album. Unique and interesting vibe.

french daft punk, lol. that one animal crossing sounding ass song is pretty good

for a french band they don't speak much french

enjoying my fuzzy french ambience

und wieso genau isch das Album luut Apple Music em Genre „Dance“ zuezordne? de ersti Song sehr vielversprechend, gfallt mer guet. Sexy Boy isch denn allerdings bereits biz plump. und denn wirds schnell mal zum langwiirige Breittrete vo semi-gmüetlicher Slow-Dance-Elektronik. biz Credit wetti em Album aber ge, ich has no kuul gfunde zum lose:) teilwiis sehr ähnlichi Gsangs- oder Synthesizer-Kläng wie bi L‘Impératrice, v.a. im letzte Song ischs mer ufgfalle, de Synthie tönt eis zu eis wie i eim vo irne Songs (ich glaub es isch Épilogue).

For me this hits the uncanny valley between pretty and interesting. It has too many harsh tones to simply be beautiful, but not enough experimentation to fascinate the ear and mind. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. It did grow on me some with a second listen.

P good

The Beth Hirsch songs! So beautiful. But they're not all winners. Not especially compelling or more than background noise. I did skip Kelly Watch the Stars as it wasn’t working for me.

One was right in the sweet spot for this, but it never took back in day and still won't or doesn't ... one's tried so c'est la vie, eh? (though maybe one means comme ci, comme ca). At any rate, the effort to make pace-age lounge music cool again is commendable, but it gets pretty dull pretty fast. And like a lot of kitschy, borderline novelty acts, it has not aged well

I liked this album much more than The Virgin Suicides, I will say that. There were a few songs that were a bit repetitive (looking at you, "Sexy Boy" and "Remember"). But the instrumentals were pretty good. "All I Need" sounded a bit like Madonna singing (yes, I know it wasn't her). More of the instrumentals, less of the vocals stuff for me, please. Top tracks: "Le Voyage de Pénélope", "Ce matin là,", "All I Need"

It's fine and all, not my thing. Air is a good name for this band because their sound is certainly breezy. I'd say I most enjoyed the songs with Beth Hirsch lending guest vocals - All I Need and You Make it Easy. Ce matin-la was maybe my favorite instrumental piece. Talisman was good too. Not sure I cared for all the voice effects in the synth heavy songs, including on their big single Sexy Boy (which I've never heard before). I'll give it an average rating but I'm ready to move on.

First 2-3 Songs nice the rest not so my taste

Nice and chill music great background music 3/5

Atmospheric and stylish. I could work to this or throw it on at a party; might not be for me for close, repeated listening.

I think this just isn't my taste. I find it to just make me wish I was listening to something else.... but I guess it's good?????? If you like this sort of thing??

Geht bisschen in Richtung Jazz. 3/5

Random album generator is really playing with me by giving me back-to-back, like, "dense sounds put together" music. I think I liked this more than Animal Collective because it's a little grittier, but it was still just a lot of sounds. This review is basically me impersonating my friend in my group who feels like some songs have "a lot of singing" in them, which is like a ??? concept to me, until now, because this has a lot of sounds in it ok

Legalzinho

Very easy listen, very generic. Not good, not bad
