Refreshing
I was so confused listening to this album, I swear that we had heard this music before and then I couldn't find anything on the web that references it being similar so I don't know. Super easy listening though and enjoyable
Wie man sie kennt. 3,3
Pretty unique, good listening for cooking, chilling or walking around. A very high 3 but I can't justify putting it next to some of the other 4s.
good but i don't think i would listen again
I wasn´t sure what to expect from band and album, but with "Sexy Boy", the well known "All I Need" and "Kelly Watch The Stars" I got into the mood. A really nice and chilling listen.
already listened to it, enjoyed. diverse album, goes in a lot of different directions
I remember running home with the CD with excitement when this came out but being left underwhelmed by it. Really I should be loving this - Moog-y and Space-y - but I still feel the same about it - I don't think the Autotune-y treatment of the Vocals helps...
Ambient. Eh. Might be a good beach listen.
The opening tracks very strong, but the rest not really. The opening though!
Interesting. But not that interesting. One of the few where I'm not real sure why its on this list. Gotta educate myself.
come musica ambient ci sta...
A band I’ve absolutely never heard of, but a fairly enjoyable album. Ciara knew the song “Sexy Boy” from a movie soundtrack, but otherwise this was all completely fresh. It was like a 1st draft version of Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ made years earlier, so I can imagine this was very influential and revolutionary for the time it came out. We found it to be chill and easy, nothing particularly groundbreaking and good driving music to just zone out to. “All I Need” was probably the favorite of the bunch and with the vocals it definitely reminded me of what ‘RAM’ would eventually be. A nice mix in the “electro-funk” world and thankfully not too long at 43 minutes.
3.5 Used to listen to this one all the time.
3.9
nästan 4 med sexy boy
It created a pretty chill/dreamy atmosphere but felt a little repetitive at times. Decent background music but not an everyday listen for me.
Light, ephemeral, and catchy.
This is a weird record. I don’t expressly dislike it, in fact, at times I find it quite charming and enjoyable. There’s some really neat vocal melodies throughout, which I think is my favourite aspect of the album. There’s also some very interesting synth work that truly feels ahead of its time. It does at times feel quite disjointed though, as if more of a collection of songs rather than one cohesive unit. I’m not sure if that’s necessarily a bad thing, but I don’t think I care for it. I also do not care for the vocoders on “remember”. Its inclusion feels more abrasive than tasteful. There are some really interesting soundscapes created here, and at times it feels far more atmospheric than it does melody or groove driven. Not something I’m likely to listen to again, but not something I hate either. 3*
Es como un disco instrumental electronizado. Como un daft punk más chill. El disco está muy bueno pero se hace medio largo.
Very interesting experience. It's not something I'll listen to every day but I like the experimental vibe of this album. I don't understand French, but they sound great. I will leave 3 stars today.
pretty cool album, more of Air that is meant for a soundtrack or something.
Eh. Fine but forgettable.
easy listening, nothing really special about it, favourite song: Sexy boy
Never really paid much attention to these when they arrived in the late 90's and only vaguely remember their hit single. Having given it a listen, it’s a nice sounding album and I do like a bit of electronica. I can understand its appeal but it’s a little too safe for me. I could see me enjoying it on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee but beyond that it’s not rocked my world.
Funky music. Not sure about this...
Chilli ja toimiva
Just worse daft punk
This was great background music, but nothing special. Three stars.
Maybe my tastes have just changed, but I loved this when it came out. Still a couple of great tracks (SB & AIN), but the rest just reminds me of TV show atmosphere music and elevators.
I do appreciate this list for making me find new artists like this even if they’re not my absolute favorite.
3.5 actually, loved it
A little electric funk
really nice background music, although the screechy notes can get annoying at times
wasn’t bad, some songs are in a playlist in work with me so i hear them basically all the time, album was okay though, some good tracks
good album
Started of nice but ultimately nothing more than some pretentious background music. The two songs with the vocalist prove why they're mostly instrumental music.
Interesting album. Noticed some songs that I heard somewhere before. It is something that can listen to, but nothing that I would choose to listen to if I had to listen to something I like.
Vibey and words are in English, kinda liked it for background
re chill banco
Chilled out, more electrical style with a mix of male and lovely female vocals. No stand out songs but a nice chill elevator album
funky
Is this cool or just inoffensive?
Fine as "mood music" or something, but not remarkable in any way.
Nice.
I would own an outdoor lounge at a luxury resort just so I could play this album on a loop.
This was nice to have in the background ! Sexy boy is 5*s easy
Pre-listening thoughts: this is my birthday album! While I was secretly hoping for a band or album I already knew/listened to, I guess it’s cool to experience something new WHATEVER. I do think it’s funny that on the album cover next to their band name, it says “French band” as if you need a disclaimer. Did they think we were tuning in because it was just gonna be air noises?? 😭 or did they have to warn people they were French cause honestly valid Post/during listening thoughts: hmmm this is electronica and psychedelic music. The world knows exactly what genres I’m not fond of and gives them to me on my brightest days. Well! It’s not bad though. I just enjoy lyrics and vocals to be prominent features of music (and this is why Beth Hirsch ate) 5.5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no Fav tracks: All I Need, Kelly Watch the Stars Least fav tracks: Talisman
Fine and vibesy and credibly kitschy-retro, but space age nostalgia only goes so far (even if you're French). So this gets sorta dull in the end. The nice/interesting, groovy or relaxing bits (e.g., "Ce'matin la") are rather quickly canceled out by tedious ones (e.g., most of the vocals, "New Star in the Sky"). Its innovations were oversold at the time and the passing decades haven't much improved it.
Meh.
The whole album felt like a compilation of interludes used across various films from various genres. A highlight being ‘La femme d’argent’ for making me feel like a detective in a 1970’s ‘Shaft’ knockoff film. Across other songs, artists like Beck and Tame Impala come to mind who have similar styles especially in some of the earlier songs of the album. The constantly shifting vibe crossed into smooth jazz and Bossa Nova all the way to techno, psychic rock, all of which being unexpected but very much welcome to create an overall pleasant listen with each song as original and interesting as the last.
3 flat
Sexy boy is one hell of a tune. So many memories come back from late teens early 20s when listening to it. The album is easy listening and great in the background. Favourite song: sexy boy Least favourite: There is nothing bad on this at all. Album artwork: cracking cover
Just alright
3/5
Wasn't sure what to think going into this, but I enjoyed it. Some songs, especially La femme d'argent, feel like precursors to lofi music of which I am a big fan of. Good variety for an electric album, lotta chill and psychedelic vibes. My prior experience was mostly EDM and Daft Punk, so this was a nice change of pace. Favs: Kelly Watch the Stars, La femme d'argent
It's a pleasant listen for sure, but to me its sensual aesthetic felt too detached. There was some emotional sincerity in there, but at times the emotion felt undermined by kitsch. I can easily see why people would love an album like this but it's just not for me, I need more substance. I couldn't see anything that the album was trying to say, but maybe they weren't saying anything at all. I wanted to give up and not even finish it.
Decent but not as exciting as the other Air album I had a few weeks ago (Virgin Suicides). Good background music but nothing really special except Sexy Boy. A bit long winded and repetitive. 3
Good vibes. 3/5
The instrumentals on this album are really fun. I actually wasn't as big of a fan of the tracks with vocals.
Like a more boring Daft Punk. If you were in the mood for super-chill, this does offer some great textures and bass lines. It’s certainly a vibe. To me, a perfect 3.
bleeeeeds together but i do like it 3/5
it was alright. chill. would prefer it slow way down and be ambient. good sounds, though. 3 stars
Interesting ambient (?) music - not even really sure what you'd call this genre. Of course I knew 'Sexy Boy' from 10 Things I Hate About You but the rest was new to me. Not an unpleasant listen!
I could easily see these songs soundtracking Adult Swim bumps. Nothing revolutionary, but soothing.
3.5 I love their sound, but knock it down to a 3 for being repetitive electronic music.
The instrumental tracks for this album are really good but the rest is not for me. I don't like the robot voices that much and the lyrics were whatever. Sexy Boy was a song I really didn't like and felt like a dropoff from the strong opener. It was a good album to listen to and worth being on this list, but I wouldn't revisit it.
Intresant I början men blev långtråkigt efter ett tag
Interesting electronic music with some great moments. Use of auto tune not impressive.
It was okay, not bad but not special.
I know of this french band. Only know sexy boy but nothing else. Interested to hear it.
In my early sinful 20s Air became a soundtrack for late nights and experimentation. It was fitting that Talisman was featured on 1999s GO! Soundtrack, a movie about one night, drugs, raves, Katie Holmes, cops, and mayhem. It still remains my favorite track off this album. This is a great debut album for the Frenchmen. The problem I have had with Air is the moody ambience requires a specific mindset to appreciate, otherwise it’s prone to become background music.
This album is the best thing I got from a an otherwise awful ex. But that was years and years ago. I still listen to the album occasionally, but definitely not as much, and listening to it now it all kinda blends in together in a not unpleasant but definitely monotonous kind of way. If I were listening to it for the first time I think I’d give it a 3. I’m tempted by a 4 for the sake of nostalgia, but realistically it’s a 3.
Kinda needed this today. The mainly instrumental offering was well played, and was not challenging to listen to. I definitely did not need any challenges
Great background music
Got pumpkin David Bowie with a splash of Pink Floyd
Interesting
I quite enjoyed it. It is interesting. Like the love child of Daft Punk and Massive Attack.
The first track off this album is pure bliss. Floating through the ether and magical for 7 minutes, then shit gets weird. The synth vocal sound and shrill tones are over used to the point of being campy and the added textures of sounds becomes noise. Not bad, but not going into my rotation.
Not bad, I liked most of the music. On the border for 4 stars, but not quite there for me.
The low-fi vibes are pretty incredible on this album. I normally really don't like Electronica albums, but this one hits different. A big thing for me usually is the repetitions of the electronics, but here I feel like those repetitions are used more as a backdrop for the more interesting bits. Honestly, just vibey and fun to listen to. Favorite Song(s): La femme d'argent
First listen Saved 4/10 Top track: La femme d'argent
One of those albums that I've apparently listened to 100s of times because it was on rotation at a previous job. So yeah, this is hotel reception music.
im not normally a fan of electronic music but i really like the minimalistic/jazzy vibes this album had! i also really like some of the chord progressions they had in certain of their pieces.
Very chill stuff with a nice variety of sounds and textures.
Me siento como cuando ves una peli que te mamaba de chiquito. Obvio me sigue gustando pero ya no pega igual, lo siento muy predecible y cursi en el mal sentido. Igual está súper cute y me puso de buen humor, pero hasta ahí.
I guess this was ok. I didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. I guess it was better than I was expecting, but then, I don’t know what I was expecting. I might listen to it again, I might not. All that ambivalence is just how it felt, I guess.
Nice, but I might need to listen more to really appreciate it.
Great to listen to while working or reading.
Pretty fun listen. Sexy Boy is in a movie that I can't remember.
Another oddball album. I suppose I would call this synthpop if I had to label it. Not a bad album by any means, but nothing really stands out about it. Kind of devolves into background noise.
Thoughts before listening: Another massive album that I've read about my entire adult life but always assumed wasn't for me. Airy, light ambient soft rock meets electronic music is what I've always thought this would sound like. Review: It's hard for me to rate something like this that is just so much outside of my personal music tastes. I just don't tend to listen to this type of spacey, slow groove based music although I certainly understand that it's objectively good. It's nice when someone like Beck or the Beastie Boys includes this style track in the middle of one of their albums, but I get bored quickly with a full record of that sound. That being said, I added "Sexy Boy" to my playlist and will give this album 3-stars.
I can't put my finger on what doesn't work on this album.
Pretty solid really liked some tunes, some not as much. Loved Beth Hirsch she slayed
Royalty free new age chillout estranged sibling of Daft Punk. Though I found it a bit boring it did grow on me through the back half. Fave Tracks: Sexy Boy, Remember, Ce matin-la 3.4/5
Nice enough to have on in the background. I didn’t even notice that I started or finished the album.
not my bag tbh
Really chill album and I can't say I did not enjoy it. I also can't say I would revisit it again or there is anything in here that I would find compelling enough to include in this book. Air feels like the forbearer to music from bands like Daft Punk and even some of the tropical house music that has been released. So perhaps that merits inclusion. If given the choice, I do prefer this more low-key electronic music and All I Need, Kelly Watch the Stars, You Make it Easy and Le Femme D'argent are all really good songs. If a person is in to electronic music then this album would be worth a listen, though I'm not sure I would recommend it to the average music fan. The music does grow on you a bit after a while, but I would most likely not seek this album out.
Interesting, but only as time/place music.
Really cool atmosphere. Sounded like video game music. Good, video game music. I want a game called Moon Safari and this is the OST 3.5/5
Duas músicas legais, o resto cai na mesmice.
1. la femme d’argent: 6/10 2. sexy boy: 5/10 3. all i need (feat. beth hirsch): 3.5/10 4. kelly watch the stars: 6/10 5. talisman: 6/10 6. remember: 7/10 7. you make it easy: 7/10 8. ce martin-là: 7.5/10 9. new star in the sky: 6.5/10 10. la voyage de pénépole: 5.5/10 overall rating: 6/10
I listened to this twice a couple weeks apart - because after the first listen, it felt like an album that I would enjoy more on second listen. Yet, even after a second listen, I still come away from it feeling like it was fun but forgettable. Might revisit it at some point but for now, it feels kinda meh to me.
It's okay. Not my thing
I’m not generally a fan of electronic music but this is good.
Well, I wasn't familiar with this album at all, though maybe aware of the single Sexy Boy. This is nice enough but a little bland - I prefer things a bit more abrasive.
meh meh meh
I can appreciate it, but not really my thing.
Decent for studying. Gives a very retro vibe.
Very airy ambient pleasant noise
While this isn't really my style, I do really like the vibe going on. Really nice simple compositions that are pleasant. Fairly predictable. It's like listening to macaroni and cheese.
chill background music
Interesting. Feels like the precursor to Daft Punk. Less refined, but certainly glimpses in there.
Not super good but still enjoyable. Very chill. Favourites: la femme d'argent, ce matin-là. Good instrumentals but a little too long also I'm not a fan of french "people". 3/5
3/5
Great instrumentals
I think I enjoyed this. I had never hear of them before. This definitely feels like a late night, dark bar kind of album. That’s not when I listened to it and my listening was cut up at different times of the days so I don’t feel like I have a true judgement. I will probably try this at another time.
3.3/5 listened 2x.
Very instrumental, felt like a chill, vibey feeling. Jazzy feeling pretty good.
Beautiful ambient chilled beats with breathy whispered vocals by this French duo. This Album was pretty big back in the late 90s with Sexy Boy & Kelly Watch The Stars the big hits and best tracks on this release. It's good and brought back some good teenage memories for me but the album is a bit repetitive.
Good mood music with some catchy tracks. Not hating this at all.
Ooooo, this is quite cool and trippy. A world of stars, rainbows and odd flowers abound. Raindrops the colour of swirling words - each one a tiny mirror. Trees with feathers for leaves. That kind of thing! I really enjoyed Sexy Boy, despite the odd title. And All I Need is so pretty, and absorbing. All in all, quite cool. I think some tracks go on a bit too long and the spell is broken. But maybe this is an album to listen to at night - through headphones. I listened in the morning - still connected with the essence of it though. A shiny sound - like A New Star in the Sky.
first track .was expecting some words ngl. second track "sexy boy" wait why do i feel like i know this. or just the beat. pink floyd type shit. idk man. not my type of shit
I like the chill vibe. It's very musical, unlike some trap/house stuff I've heard. ASMR types would love it. I can see where it would have its place for a lot of people. I'm not impressed enough to listen again though. Love the trombone sound in the final song of the album. Really thought it was a trombone, but I looked it up. Nope
Good. Remember it being much better, but solid easy listening.
No. 184/1001 La femme d'argent 3/5 Sexy Boy 3/5 All I Need 3/5 Kelly Watch the Stars 3/5 Talisman 3/5 Remember 3/5 You Make It Easy 4/5 Ce Martin-la 4/5 New Star In The Sky 3/5 La voyage de Penelope 3/5 Average: 3,2 Pretty enjoyable, but I would categorize it as background music.
I'd have to go with "good studying music". Just something nice to have on in the background.
Just chilling
Interesting album. Electronic music isn't my thing but this was relaxing, relatively enjoyable and quite weird.
Very pleasant
I feel the same about this as I did when it came out: meh. I never really got the hype when it was released. That being said, listening to it however many years later made me realize it’s kinda become a classic. So the hypers knew what they were talking about.
Mjög ljúf og flott tónlist, mjög þægileg vinnutónlist. Frábærir tónlistarmenn en aðeins of settlegt samt fyrir minn smekk. 3,5
I was pretty excited when this started. I like electronic music and it seemed from the beginning that it might get pretty interesting. It ended up being slower and less interesting than I wanted but because of that it probably an easier listen for most. Not bad by any means but also just not super interesting.
I listened to this one when I first started. Here is my review: Very groovy. Super easy listening, and vibey. Good to have one while working. Not sure when I'll revisit, but I'm happy I'm aware of it. I recognized a lot of the songs. Glad I can put a name to it.
Not really my type of deal idk i liked sexy boy that was the only one i really thought was interesting what is wrong with you people???
I can dig it. I think they over reached trying to put out ten tunes. Would have been a better album without 1 or two tracks. Remember should have been forgotten)
Electronic music is generally not my favorite, and while I don't plan to re-listen to the album, it was enjoyable. The beats weren't over produced and made the listening easy. The melodies tended to match the beats and weren't completely unhinged (an issue I have with electronic is the random vocals that are just saying random nonsense). Overall a solid album but one that isn't really for me specifically.
Has this been setbreak music? It could be setbreak music. Decent chill background stuff so it's okay
Relaxing and pleasant, but I feel it's missing "something" to really stand out
While I did not enjoy their other appearance on this list, the film score for The Virgin Suicides, I did find this earlier work to be far more interesting and enjoyable. As might be expected from the down tempo genre, it is a very chill album. I can attest that this was the kind of music that was being played in the chill rooms of raves, to ease people back from the chaos of a rave and towards humanity. Top notch production and mixing. For me, the vocoder in "Sexy Boy" was maybe the only seriously jarring thing on the album. It is also clear that while AIR takes their cues from all kinds acts, Yello, Curtis Mayfield and of genres prior to them (bossa nova, lounge jazz, krautrock, 70s era film scores) it is equally clear that this album has influenced the sound of acts since its release by reminding modern acts that smooth jazz from our earlier canon can be reinterpreted in fun and unusual ways, and therefore an album worth having on this list. Having said all that, it is the kind of album that now having heard it, I likely won't put the whole thing on ever again. However I did add a couple of tracks to my regular rotation, which is a step up from their The Virgin Suicides film score album. Another listener on here noted upon this release that the line between relaxing and wondrous and kind of boring is a thin line, indeed it is, and they do cross it at times. I was not a fan of "Sexy Boy", "All I Need", or "You Make It Easy", lest you think I disdain Beth Hirsch, I think she is great, I just didn't feel anything with these tracks. My Favorite tracks were the Curtis Mayfield inspired "La Femme d'argent" aka the Silver Woman, and the smoky acid jazz of "All I Need", the 70s cinema lushness of "Talisman" and "Ce Matin-La" aka "This Morning".
I remember this pair being mentioned sometimes in the late 90s but I never saw any videos on MTV. Eh, wouldn't have liked it then, anyway
Nice background sounds but wouldn't listen again
Fucking good
Good, not great. I can see in '98 that it was pretty amazing.
Too artsy fartsy bruv 3/5
It's not bad but I found it pretty boring. I already knew the album as it was a big hit in France when it was released, and of course some of the titles were huge success. There are nice ideas in the record, there are entertaining bits, I understand what they did with the atmosphere, but it's not my jam, too chill for me. And perhaps it's me but it sounds pretty dated. Based on my own feelings, I'd put 2 stars, but objectively it deserves better.
Well, that's a surprise. I saw the album and thought that I don't know anything. But it seems that I have listened to many of the songs before. Some like "Sexy Boy", "All I need", or "Kelly Watch the Stars" appeared disturbingly familiar to me. I can't explain it, and they are not among my scrobbles …
Very strong opening track, whole album sounds mostly very 90s, but cover design and influence suggest influence from 80s and impact on 2000s. Quite interesting.
Not really my kind of music, but not bad.
OK. not very exciting I even recognized one song but couldn't have told you who Air was....
Not bad but my gen z child called it "elevator music" 🤣
Good listen!
after I read some reviews I was bracing for yet another electronica album to slog through, but color me surprised I actually enjoyed this one.Maybe its specifically uk based electronica i dont like, but man this was a chill enjoyable album. it lost me here and there, but overall it provided the vibes I wanted.
The organ of ‘La femme d’argent’ gave me ‘The Doors’ vibes. Really cool track. I also like ‘All I Need (feat. Beth Hirsch)’. The rhythm section of ‘You made it easy’ reminds me heavily of Sades ‘Smooth Operator. I probably won’t listen to the full album again.
3 and 1/2 stars
This is one of those albums you can say is good but you can’t explain why. It’s pleasant to listen to is the best I can come up with. Sexy Boy does stand out head and shoulders above the rest. I don’t think I can explain my passing grade for this album. It’s a middle of the road compilation of songs that don’t make me feel emotions at all and I like that. Choice Cut: Sexy Boy
Perfect rainy day music. Didn't realize they were so intricately tied to Sofia Coppola and her work. Favorite tracks: Ce Matin-la, All I Need
Some of it was ok, kinda reminded me of Portishead. But overall not really my jam.
Normally, I’m not a fan of this type of music, but this album was a fairly pleasant surprise. After the first few tunes, I was thinking a 4, but ultimately, it overstayed its welcome.
I actually own two different Air albums ("Talkie-Walkie" and "Pocket Symphony"), so it's hard for me *not* to enjoy listening to their debut album (although it makes me wonder all over again why debut albums get so much attention in this collection, since they're rarely the best for each band/artist). I'll admit that what appeals to me about Air's style is that it's great background music, which I'm sure makes any artist cringe, and certainly isn't fair to them (or anyone). But I still enjoy listening to them in all sorts of environments, and I enjoyed this album too, knowing that I was missing out on whatever the lyrics meant, at least when they were in French. I also thought this album was actually more in the foreground than the other two are, which is an interesting aspect. (A little annoying that the YouTube Music version of the album had a few substitutions on the versions of some songs, but that's not Air's fault.) A solid album, although nothing exciting in the context of this 1001 albums project.
Found this to be pretty enjoyable. I do question which came first: Fatboy Slim's Praise You or Air's Kelly Watch the Stars.
Pleasant electrónica music
Starts with some total bangers that are rightly classics. But album quickly falls off towards boring
Ikke super spændende, men ikke dårligt
I only knew of Air from "Alone in Kyoto" being played on Blonded Radio back in the day. Good album that doesn't do anything crazy and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
Mix of lush and goofy. Like a weak Daft Punk
Pretty good
nice. smooth
Kinda boring but has some good moments. Very peaceful and calming vibe.
I was a bit scared by the lack of lyrics but actually a fairly pleasant listen. I wouldn’t necessarily go back to it but it wasn’t offensive. 6.5/10
French
Enjoyable grooving background music
Okokokoko, långa låter men groovy
Airy chill-out music with French style.
Les trois premières chansons sont parfaites, mais le reste de l'album n'est qu'assez bon. C'est très français et très cool, mais je ne l'ai pas tellement apprécié. Trois chansons classiques, trois étoiles
Understand why it is on the list. It is not something I would listen to as an album regularly.
Space age electronica fit for Stanley Kubrick
Neat
la femme d'argent- 6 sexy boy- ? 6 all i need- 3 or 4 kelly watch the stars- 4 talisman- 3 remember- 5 you make it easy- 3 ce matin la- 4 or 5 new star in the sky- 3 le voyage de penelope- 4
While I'm not really into electronic music, this had some good moments musically. I van see why people enjoy this group.
Unique, sexy and captivating. What a wildcard of a banger. This album was a very easy listen, I would probably say it’s more so background/gaming music but it’s definitely out of the norm for me and I’m happy to enjoy it. Another album where if you told me it came out this decade, I would believe you. Fav tracks: Sexy Boy All I Need
We had some bossanova easy listening albums on the list, albums I totally hated, pure nothingness. This is also easy listening, but tolerable and sometimes even fun. Still more music for the background, like in the soundtrack they did or at background in some fancy coffee bar where a frappucino costs you 10 euro, not music I would listen too at home.
Quite OK electronic Album, liked it a little but nothing to listen to repeatedly
Very pleasant and unique, loved the ethereal vibes. [0154/1001]
Good vibes.
оказывается ля фам даржан это первый трек дебютного альбома! люблю её. в стальном мило но как будто всё уже слышала… странно) меньше нравятся треки с вокалом, хм
Enjoyed! Had a few songs from this album already on my playlists
I imagine this was more impactful when it first released but I still find it enjoyable. The album floats along without pushing too many boundaries, with it's chilled out, light atmosphere (with a dash of irony), probably always being the point. To be fair, Moon Safari accomplishes what it sets out to do, creating a mood that is more inward and immersive. Personally, this is occasional listening, whereas an album I teeter between positive or neutral. Fun Fact: Dave Depper of Death Cab recorded a nearly 1:1 recreation of this album worth checking out, which I think I like a bit more. As a guitarist, he adds a bit more edge.
Pretty chill, kinda boring. If I was just dopin around it’d be the perfect vibe
I kinda liked it actually
Relaxing French vibes
A chiller for sure
Nice & chilly
the album is nice but hits a stride late with Ce Matin and everything after that is pretty good before that its a bit like noodling and rather vague lyrics.
Fajne elektoriczne plumkanie w tle
Great background and soundtrack music
I really enjoyed this album, but when it ended and Spotify expanded to similar stuff, I fell in love with this sound.
Apart from La femme d’argent not really my style but enjoyed listening to a different style with few lyrics and electronic instrument effects. Ok for back ground music.
I've tried getting into this album for years and it's just kind of bland and boring. 2.5 stars
Def a 3 quality background music but nothing thats amazing outstanding still good tho
This album is so pretty, creates such a chill atmosphere. Everytime I've listened to it I've felt so calmed after. It's not an album that is particularly exciting but it does well with its doing. Fav songs - All I Need - You Make It Easy - La femme d'argent
enjoyable and good "background" music for work.
Too ethereal for me.
good.
shit was cool as hell to listen to while studying. very atmospheric. not really too much else i have to say, not spectacular, but not bad either.
3.4/5 Best Track: All I Need (feat. Beth Hirsch)
Really pleasant listen. first track is amazing! Somehow a very sophisticated, smooth sound throughout. Great background music as I was getting some work done. Got a little fatiguing after a few listens, maybe it was the vocals? 3/5 for a very pleasant time.
Ok, nice for drive home from work
I had no prior knowledge of this band, so it was a pleasant surprise to enjoy their music. This album was very relaxing and reminiscent of Daft Punk. The songs flowed together coherently and I felt some semblance of an overarching love story being told.
nice. Like the song without vocals best.
Dusssss, wel echt heel Nice, maar het stond vooral aan op de achtergrond. Ik zou het 4 sterren geven als er echt een beuker the tussen had gezeten.
Liked it. Perpetual Groove-like.
Enjoyable low key listen
Thought it would be an absolute techno banger based on the first song. Then nothing else really hit for me.
The opening bass line...is so hypnotic and demanding.
Not bad, but repetitive. I wouldn’t mind it for background music while I do other things.
Maybe it's because of my lack of musical erudition, or because of french synth of the same period of time sounds similar - this sounds exactly like Daft Punk for me. It's not bad, it's just hard for me to take Air as a unique band. I like common idea of such music, it's dzen and psychodelic. But for me it sounds too innatural and electrical. Also I can't recognise any shift in vibe or common idea of album, while listening to this genre, cause every track sounds literally the same :) P.S. Kelly watch the stars!
Never heard of these guys. Found it interesting and listened a few times. It had a decent ambient quality to it
space-age sounding
I was surprised how much I enjoyed listening to this. At first I thought it was not for me, but the more I listened, the more I liked it. It certainly was good dance music. My toes were tapping.
I've always wanted to really like Air, but they just feel a bit flat to me. It's pleasant enough, but I'm never truly engaged.
This was just fine, but hard to get excited by it. I don't know if this set some of the standards or is falling in line with others in its genre, but I heard a lot of stuff that seems to permeate this type of atmospheric electronic music — the lilting bass lines and pads, for one. So, this was pleasant, but I couldn't discern anything that set this apart from others in the genre.
I would have never usually listened to this album, I but it actually surprised me as I recognised some of the music.
Honestly, a bit disappointing. I loved this album in the 90s. It was so different than anything else, and it was difficult to find this kind of music. I was excited to see it pop up on the list, but honestly, it was just OK. It’s still a good album that I would recommend for lovers of a certain type of music, but revisiting it after a long time away, I found it a bit dry.
meh
Quite good background music, not distracting. Stand-out: Ce Matin-Là
3 outstanding tunes
Surprised me that I didn't mind this. Easy going daft punk.
It was fine.
Tällaista musiikkia Ranskassa osataan tehdä. Kivoja tuokiokuvia, eivät jää pelkästään taustamusiikiksi. Klassikkolevy tosiaan: esim. Sexy boyta ei voi ohittaa, oikein hyvä kappale vaikka snadisti junnaa (kuuluu kyllä koko levyn tyyliin). Hyvin sulavaa
Har en virkelig good time når den her plade er på, men den forsvinder osse lidt ind i baggrunden.
Background music.
Much more of a vibe than I was anticipating. Electronica simply never does it for me, but I really felt a cohesive project and musical progression, which almost never happens in albums like this for me. Favorite track: Le voyage de Penelope
Cool textures on this, I guess French band? I liked it
Some good songs here.
1. La femme - 3 2. Sexy boy - 4 3. All I need - 4 4. Kelly watch - 3 5. Talisman - 3 6. Remember - 3 7. You make it easy - 3 8. Ce Matin- 3 9. New star - 3 10. Le voyage - 4 3.3
Air's music seems perfectly pitched to trigger no emotions at all. It's like lounge music for cybermen.
Liked the album, just not as upbeat of a dance record as I would want. 3/5 Might listen again
I was already familiar with this album, like it, and would listen to it in the right headspace, but its not the most compelling music.
Don’t know anything about this album. It was pleasant to listen to but not very sticky to me
Good stuff. Solid 3.
First song is a little long, but I like it Don’t like the voice in remember Last song is very nice On repeat I like the first few songs
Features a few surprise "Hits" that are well known and good, but not good enough to merit more than 3 stars.
Ambient music, not bad
Strange album but a few well know songs. Enjoyed it on the whole but a couple of songs that were forgettable.
Feels like I should like this more than I do.
Nice album but not in my top tier.
This was better than I expected, pleasant if background music.
Meh
Pleasant. Calm. Nice soundscapes. But a bit boring.
Possibly good when high
the album starts very strong but drags towards the end. That Sexy Boy track is a stone cold classic
For being almost 30 years old, it sounds surprisingly fresh. Definitely an interesting listen, although it didn't blow me away.
Moon Safari was an okay, if uninteresting album. The songs were pleasant enough to listen to but they didn't really have too much distinction and enough to really set them apart and allow for a more unique listening experience like i would have wished. This is another 2.5 that I'm adjusting to a 3 for this site. Best Song: La femme d'argent Worst Song: All I Need
Rating: ** 3 ** Notes: Don't really have a opinion on this one. Songs which stood out in no particular order (credits to Uncle Gue for the idea): "Kelly Watch the Stars" ------------------------------------------------------------- Rating Scale: 1- very bad 2- bad 3- neutral 4-good 5-very good additonaly -/+ sign if necessary
Super zum nebenbei Hören. Die instrumentalen Songs und auch die mit Gesang finde ich entspannent. Höre ich bestimmt wieder! 6.6/10
Early chillout
This album is totally different that music that I listen to, but this is the whole idea of this app, right? There's some decent stuff on this album but, I wouldn't seek it out again, though.
The whole ethereal electronica thing has never intrigued me, neither does this album. Air does get bonus points for originality and musicality. 3/5.
Weird, fun, electronica. Some bad vocals. Sometimes very repetitive. Good beat though. And a few really good songs along with other bad ones and some with just good moments. Glad I got to hear this. One song seems like it was used in a bunch of commercials :)
No idea. Not quite impressive but acceptable.
I think I was already familiar with about half of this album as it's been used in adverts and various forms of media over the last couple of decades. It's solid, good at times, although it does drift into "background music" territory a touch too often.
Not bad background music
Enjoyed this more than I expected, given the genre. Makes me feel like I’m in Oceans 11.
French
This was a great album for background noise but i won’t save any songs pretty chill
Initial Thoughts: A band (duo?) I've never heard of but 2m monthly listeners on Spotify? Let's see what's up. Final Thoughts: Mom can we have Daft Punk? No, we have Daft Punk at home. Daft Punk at home: Good album, wished it was more catchy (see meme above). I feel like this album is that "safe zone" in a video game before you fight a boss. A place to save, heal up, and ready for the end of the game.
Not bad but not really my thing. Very spacey.
I found it a bit boring, to be honest. Like they took all the fun and exciting elements of electronic music, removed them, and made an album of what was left.. I still kind of liked it, but probably won't listen again.
The songs are a bit long and drawn out but I enjoyed parts of it
I remember sexy boy. I enjoyed all of the tracks up until Talisman. Then I wasn't a fan of the second half. Decent music for studying or while I mark.
twas a bit weird
Lazy background music with just a touch of personality.
It was good, not great
Very repetitive and mindless
Moon Safari is the debut album by French electronic music duo Air. This critically acclaimed album is credited with initializing the growth of the downtempo genre. Other genres for this album are space/dream pop, electronica, chill-out, and psychedelia. Moon Safari performed well commercially and has been certified double platinum in Denmark and the UK, in addition to being gold or platinum in many other European countries and Australia. This album is a mesmerizing experience of sounds that swirl around the listener and embrace them with a warm, laid back attitude. I loved its inventive nature and unique sophisticated version of electronica music.
I was hearing Daft Punk in some of these songs. I liked it a lot!
Awesome atmospheric rock. Vocals are ethereal but hard to understand. Good background music. Repetitive.
sensual, overall nice as background music but not necessarily something I'd listen to with intention save for a few songs. I didn't like the songs with the female vocalist. I heard some Mort Garson vibes for sure
A little too ambient but very fun to listen to!
Easy listening, put on and chill , good for a bedtime listen. Stand out tracks for me is la femme d'argent & all I need
Oh man I expect this to be all the feelings Mostly the feeling was boredom haha.
Good! My kind of thing for background/dinner party type lists.
Pretty good ambient electronica. I don’t know, nothing to say.
Pretty chill. Two or three bangers
Good background music. A few recognisable songs. A little bit boring
Not bad!
Decent stuff. Always love Sexy Boy and Kelly Watch the Stars.
Some interesting concepts and sounds. Doesn't stand out for me though.
Well I did recognise and enjoy quite a lot of this but it didn't blow me away as such! Like I appreciated what is was and felt like it was good music. Maybe a commute isn't the right time. Wish I could give 3.5
This album is very famous among my UK and European pals and I know some of the songs well, but I’ve never listened to the whole thing in a shot. I really like it. I can sense how it would have been in everyone’s speakers that summer and beyond, but I can’t totally find my heart in it.
I have no doubt that this is a music genre that many people love, however it's not a genre that I care for so I can't coment.
heavy influence from 70s but so iconically late 90s it felt like college. not my favorite tho… i feel like it’s roughly Sterolab but a bit sleepier. i wonder who came first? took me until Ce Matin-la before i remembered hearing this album before
I loved Remember back when this album came out. 5 stars for that song. Album on the whole an enjoyable 3.
Un usage de notre belle langue française à très mauvais escient, comme bien souvent.
Ils ont pas bientôt fini de se prendre pour Daft Punk les deux cons ??
Gloomy and ethereal, but still pleasant. 3.5
Classic chill album...but one that you 100% have to be in the right mood for. All vibes. 3.5/5
