If I had a nickel for every time I was amazed by a French electronica duo, I'd have two nickels. That's not a lot, but it's still weird that it happened twice.
Booooring….
I feel the same about this as I did when it came out: meh. I never really got the hype when it was released. That being said, listening to it however many years later made me realize it’s kinda become a classic. So the hypers knew what they were talking about.

very cool album! i had only heard sexy boy before this so imagine my surprise to find they had put out a whole bunch of other tracks with it as well! the whole album was a neat foray into electronic music, atmospheric sounds, and some trippy moments. the production was clean and everything came together nicely. i didn't get as much out of the back half of the album but it started super strong. favorites: la femme d'argent, sexy boy, all i need
You know what? I dug this album. Really chill vibes that were lovely to listen to. I won't give it a five because I don't know if I could just sit there and listen to it while doing nothing else, but you could put this on while doing anything and it'd be more relaxed. Overall a good listening experience.
I was pretty excited when this started. I like electronic music and it seemed from the beginning that it might get pretty interesting. It ended up being slower and less interesting than I wanted but because of that it probably an easier listen for most. Not bad by any means but also just not super interesting.
I listened to this one when I first started. Here is my review: Very groovy. Super easy listening, and vibey. Good to have one while working. Not sure when I'll revisit, but I'm happy I'm aware of it. I recognized a lot of the songs. Glad I can put a name to it.
Super chilled first song - la femme d'argent. Nice electronic sounds with a funky bass line. DAMN, as soon as sexy boy came on, i knew it. Absolute belter. i love the melody and keyboard work. The distortion, awesome. I have no idea what the lyrics are but they are very soothing and fitting for the song. Wow, straight into another banger with the track "all i need". love it. What a opening three songs to the album. FAAAARRRRKKKKK, kelly watch the stars, i know you too!! Again, a very bass driven track with some great keyboard work. A very good start to this album i feel. 2nd half of the album was a different beast. More chilled. Really good album. I enjoyed the first half particularly. Rating 4/5.

Brilliant. An immediate hit with me. I hadn't listened to it before. I knew some other chill-out stuff, but these two seem to have had toutes les idées first. Really creative use of all the electronica and some good grooves. Très bon.
I used to love this album but over time I think I just really liked a few songs. Still good.
Electronic music is generally not my favorite, and while I don't plan to re-listen to the album, it was enjoyable. The beats weren't over produced and made the listening easy. The melodies tended to match the beats and weren't completely unhinged (an issue I have with electronic is the random vocals that are just saying random nonsense). Overall a solid album but one that isn't really for me specifically.

It's incredible how boring this album manages to be. I love the basslines an the old school synth sound, but it still just blend into a grey soup of boredom. Absolutely nothing happens.

Finally an electronic album that delivers.
One of my absolute favorite albums and a gem of the downtempo style. Whether you're on a date, falling asleep, or gently floating through space, this is the perfect soundtrack. I bought this album 25 years ago and it's still just as fresh as my first listen.
While I did not enjoy their other appearance on this list, the film score for The Virgin Suicides, I did find this earlier work to be far more interesting and enjoyable. As might be expected from the down tempo genre, it is a very chill album. I can attest that this was the kind of music that was being played in the chill rooms of raves, to ease people back from the chaos of a rave and towards humanity. Top notch production and mixing. For me, the vocoder in "Sexy Boy" was maybe the only seriously jarring thing on the album. It is also clear that while AIR takes their cues from all kinds acts, Yello, Curtis Mayfield and of genres prior to them (bossa nova, lounge jazz, krautrock, 70s era film scores) it is equally clear that this album has influenced the sound of acts since its release by reminding modern acts that smooth jazz from our earlier canon can be reinterpreted in fun and unusual ways, and therefore an album worth having on this list. Having said all that, it is the kind of album that now having heard it, I likely won't put the whole thing on ever again. However I did add a couple of tracks to my regular rotation, which is a step up from their The Virgin Suicides film score album. Another listener on here noted upon this release that the line between relaxing and wondrous and kind of boring is a thin line, indeed it is, and they do cross it at times. I was not a fan of "Sexy Boy", "All I Need", or "You Make It Easy", lest you think I disdain Beth Hirsch, I think she is great, I just didn't feel anything with these tracks. My Favorite tracks were the Curtis Mayfield inspired "La Femme d'argent" aka the Silver Woman, and the smoky acid jazz of "All I Need", the 70s cinema lushness of "Talisman" and "Ce Matin-La" aka "This Morning".
It's not absolutely annoying, but it's far from what I consider a good album that deserves to be included in my own 1001 list of albums to be listened to before I die.
I remember this pair being mentioned sometimes in the late 90s but I never saw any videos on MTV. Eh, wouldn't have liked it then, anyway
I'm only 12 days into this project and pulling this album is exactly what I wanted to get out of doing this generator. I've never heard of Air before and barely ever listen to electronic music as I lean more towards hard rock and heavy metal, but halfway through this album I had already connected with it so much that I went out and bought a concert ticket to see Air performing Moon Safari in full here in London. When an album can sell you on a concert the first time listening that's how you know it's an instant classic. Its the kind of album I feel like I've been missing out on but glad I've found it now. Highlights for me are "La Femme D'Argent", "Talisman", "All I Need" and "Sexy Boy", but honestly the entire album is just dripping cool.

Air are Daft Punk’s older, cooler cousins - smoking Gitanes behind the bike sheds and wearing stripy jumpers in a post modern, ironic way. They take the lush soundscapes of 60’s Nouvelle Vague cinema, add bloopy 70s modular synths and classic moogs, and top it off with some banging dance tracks (Sexy Boy and Kelly Watch the Stars being highlights). If you have the means to play it, the Dolby Atmos mix of this sounds immense!
It's not bad but I found it pretty boring. I already knew the album as it was a big hit in France when it was released, and of course some of the titles were huge success. There are nice ideas in the record, there are entertaining bits, I understand what they did with the atmosphere, but it's not my jam, too chill for me. And perhaps it's me but it sounds pretty dated. Based on my own feelings, I'd put 2 stars, but objectively it deserves better.
Well, that's a surprise. I saw the album and thought that I don't know anything. But it seems that I have listened to many of the songs before. Some like "Sexy Boy", "All I need", or "Kelly Watch the Stars" appeared disturbingly familiar to me. I can't explain it, and they are not among my scrobbles …
Very strong opening track, whole album sounds mostly very 90s, but cover design and influence suggest influence from 80s and impact on 2000s. Quite interesting.

The soundtrack for the Virgin Suicides movie was an interesting one. And it was an album I had a difficulty approaching. I knew Moon Safari would show up eventually, and I was prepared to dive into a strange sounding world. But I still don’t think I could have prepared myself fully. This album is otherworldly in its execution. It’s one of those pieces of music that really makes you think, “How could people come together and just create something like this?” While their movie score had a more varied and progressive array of sounds to fit the moods of the different parts of the film, this album is much more consistent in its main ideas. It’s still definitely progressive though. This record sounds liquified. It moves with fluidity, and carries itself like one of those guys riding the clouds in Mario. It’s also incredibly peaceful. It is at no point in your face, or trying to force you to enjoy it. It lets you sit and really familiarize itself with the sounds you are hearing, and just float along with them. Imagine lying on your back in the ocean, but only far enough out on the shore so that the water comes about halfway up the side of your head. And you just sit there. For eternity. Letting the current delicately push you around. Nine times out of ten, this album sounds amazing. And beautiful at the same time. It is a masterfully produced piece of work, and really pushes the boundaries of ambient pop. Just more proof that even if they suck at everything else, French people know how to make great music. Rating: 8/10

I absolutely love La femme d'argent, but have never checked out other stuff by Air. This album was a treat from start to finish. I don't think any of the songs that were new to me were better than La femme d'argent, but they were still great and the album as a whole was a great time.

after I read some reviews I was bracing for yet another electronica album to slog through, but color me surprised I actually enjoyed this one.Maybe its specifically uk based electronica i dont like, but man this was a chill enjoyable album. it lost me here and there, but overall it provided the vibes I wanted.
What a delightful album. Really easy to listen to and I enjoyed how laid back it was.
The organ of ‘La femme d’argent’ gave me ‘The Doors’ vibes. Really cool track. I also like ‘All I Need (feat. Beth Hirsch)’. The rhythm section of ‘You made it easy’ reminds me heavily of Sades ‘Smooth Operator. I probably won’t listen to the full album again.

I discovered this album after seeing the movie The Virgin Suicides and falling in love with Air’s soundtrack. When I saw this in the record store I bought it and loved it even more. This is one of those groups that managed to create a masterpiece of a first album. I was transfixed on the first listen, and tonight after what is probably 100s of listens I still am in love with this. I put this on and am a much cooler person in a much cooler place. It’s smooth, mesmerizing, and manages to be both soothing and energizing at the same time. A marvel of electronic music!
This is one of those albums you can say is good but you can’t explain why. It’s pleasant to listen to is the best I can come up with. Sexy Boy does stand out head and shoulders above the rest. I don’t think I can explain my passing grade for this album. It’s a middle of the road compilation of songs that don’t make me feel emotions at all and I like that. Choice Cut: Sexy Boy

I mean give my instrumental electronica any day and I'll be pretty happy. Throw in some pretty simple lyrics on top and you've got a winner. I was just discovering this style of music when a friend introduced me to Air back in college. Back then I didn't have access to Spotify so only had a couple of tracks that he had shared with me, but man did it slap. I'm really happy to come across them again on this list and get a deeper dive. The crunchy bass on this is truly excellent and really elevates Moon Safari to the next level. Sexy Boy and All I Need are classics of course, but there's a lot to love on pretty much every track.
Slowed down Lo-Fi Electro with groovy bass lines. Good vocals on a couple tracks. Almost sounds like a movie soundtrack.

Ah, those heady pre-911 days, before the world lost its mind, and chill rooms were actually possible and not just something to ridicule. I've been tryna think of some kind of big through-line; some essay-style framework to write this review around, but nah, man. This is just some good-ass chill music. **Really** good-ass chill music. Like, within the first 30 seconds, I dug it so hard. Absolutely something I'm gonna put on in the future to kick back to. Hell, if my sleep schedule still meant I'd get up in the morning, I'd put it alongside FRIENDS by The Beach Boys and MOTHER EARTH'S PLANTASIA as a great "wake up, start the day" album. I mean, I don't even know what to say about the album specifically; it's just vibes too hard for that, and I'm all for it. And big shout-out, too, for the fact that The Moog Cookbook, a group I **really** like, remixed one of the songs on here. That's a damn cherry on top, and I don't even like cherries.

It’s a 3.5 that I’ll round up to a 4. I think about half of this album just didn’t fully click for me, but maybe it’s because I was still in a sort of “analyst” mode as opposed to just listening and feeling the vibe. We’ve had a lot of vibe albums lately, but this is very much a vibes album. What’s here sounds excellent; there’s not a single bad track on here, and in terms of super relaxing electronica, this is an album you can both study to and fall asleep to on a dime. For my tastes, some of the songs felt a bit too empty at times or a bit too long, and I was still expecting at least one sort of Daft Punk-esque energy-filled song given the genre, but like… that’s an unfair expectation. This is a good listen, it’s well-recommended, and I’m perfectly ok with a 4 here. Good soundscapes, great vibes.

Most 90s electronica sounds dated to me but this still sounds fresh. Never heard of this band before but thoroughly enjoyed the laid back vibes.
I actually own two different Air albums ("Talkie-Walkie" and "Pocket Symphony"), so it's hard for me *not* to enjoy listening to their debut album (although it makes me wonder all over again why debut albums get so much attention in this collection, since they're rarely the best for each band/artist). I'll admit that what appeals to me about Air's style is that it's great background music, which I'm sure makes any artist cringe, and certainly isn't fair to them (or anyone). But I still enjoy listening to them in all sorts of environments, and I enjoyed this album too, knowing that I was missing out on whatever the lyrics meant, at least when they were in French. I also thought this album was actually more in the foreground than the other two are, which is an interesting aspect. (A little annoying that the YouTube Music version of the album had a few substitutions on the versions of some songs, but that's not Air's fault.) A solid album, although nothing exciting in the context of this 1001 albums project.

I LOVE this. I was raised in USA. The French scene there, especially back in the day, was very niche and not largely present. I heard this music on college radio and loved it, but had no idea who it was, where it came from, nada. So now all these years latter have a name with a face with music I love! Great!

Music, which can server as background music somewhere where you don't concentrate on the music itself. Some of the melodies are ok, but there is nothing emotionally capturing in this work.
I've heard this album a few times in the past, and can't say it was an immediate favorite, but I've grown to like it quite a bit. It is quite synthy and chill, and feels like taking a walk late at night. 90's electronic often wears on me, but this is the rare kind that somehow makes the coldness of the genre feel warm.

I can't believe Air and Daft Punk were contemporaries? If you played me Remember and said it was a Daft Punk song I would believe it. Why was France churning out duos like this in the 90s I have heard part of this album before, but primarily I know the song Sexy Boy from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, in the scene where the party fliers for Bogey Lowenstein's party are being dropped down the stairwell This album is just super cool. Chill without being sleepy. There's a touch of sameyness to the songs but it all fits together amazingly as an album. The songs all cohere and blend. It just makes you want to float. Pleasant electrónica music
Fuck yeah. Easy buttery atmospheric jazzy early synthy electronica. They keep their melodies groovy and cohesive and tight, which i's appreciates. I like that this album is a tidy soundscape package - all songs have the a similar color & mood that makes me believe they belong together.
This is great for zoning out during commutes! I listened while driving to work this morning--it enhanced those dumb little moments...you know when you're passing a truck or changing lanes. Some tracks make driving feel like sailing.

James: Ethereal jazz vibes. Airy. Mary: Reminds me of Pink Floyd (not the vocals). Spacey vibes. Moon Safari feels like a very appropriate title ... James: Yeah, for this exploration into the vast and wide open sound that takes you on a hypnotic tour of sonic vibrations.

I only knew of Air from "Alone in Kyoto" being played on Blonded Radio back in the day. Good album that doesn't do anything crazy and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
I rather enjoyed this, after not expecting to. I take all the points people make about it being a bit AI and so on, but it's also got a bit of funk and style about it. And has lots of interesting bits and pieces. It'll do for me.

A band like Air are the NFT salesmen of the music industry. Con artists slapping together lazy, worthless music and packaging it as a valuable commodity. They use a couple of instruments on each song, play a simple chord/note progression ad nauseam, and spice it up with reverb or some other shit to mask the monotony. Random Sci-Fi effects are then added to each track that sounds like they've been sourced off a Windows 95 soundboard. There's no artistry involved; it's gimmicky bollocks. These clowns don't even bother with vocals, they just pick a word or meaningless phrase and barf it up repeatedly. Any singing that does appear on this record is heavily distorted to ensure not a hint of talent could possibly seep through. This album is as soulless and vapid as any AI-generated art you'll see online today. It's the Bored Ape of music production. They're TikTokers cosplaying like they're Martin Scorsese. "Moon Safari" sounds the way Mark Zuckerberg's face looks. I fucking hate this shit. 👎👎
Iconic bass lines and such a cool laid back energy. Faves: La femme -bass line kills! especially at timestamp 4:00 Talisman -the mix of synth, bass, and strings is epic. Very 007

I really liked this! Definitely something to put on when I can't fully pay attention to what I'm hearing but I think that's ok. Just a nice listen that fills the room with good vibes. What's not to like?

I find that quite a lot of electronic albums can get a bit samey or overstay their welcome whereas this is diverse, always exciting, and leaves me wanting more
This is some of the coolest instrumental work I've heard, it really does feel like a Moon Safari. Incredible atmosphere, the sweeping futuristic sounds mixed with the guitary piano soloing is awesome

Such a great ambient, atmospheric electronic record. The only electronic music I’ve really vibed with is Daft Punk and this also scratched my itch. It’s not dance house but I loved the layering of multiple instruments as each layer was interesting and soothing. A really great album to chill to.
This one is so nostalgic. I have heard of Air before but never knew that I knew their songs so well. The first three songs on this album just take me straight back to sitting in my parents car on a long car journey, it's getting kinda late, watching raindrops fall down my window and listening to this via the vibration in the car door. Musically it's very solid but personally nostalgia takes over my opinion on this. Great album.

This may be the epitome of a "kick back," "take a load off," "chill out" albums ever recorded. I have to admit I was introduced to two of these songs about 12 years ago and loved them. Listening to the entire album makes me now love the album. It's almost perfect to my ears minus a few tracks. And the two best tracks bookend the album IMO. Smooth, sexy, and relaxing...this albums sets the mood. Favorite tracks: La femme d'argent, Sexy Boy, Kelly Watch the Stars, Talisman, Ce matin la, New Star in the Sky, Le voyage de Penelope.

Really enjoyed listening to this album. I sort of like having music like that to listen to when I am heading to bed…but also when I’ve got busy work….I will definitely listen to this one again.
Understand why it is on the list. It is not something I would listen to as an album regularly.

Epic. Kinda Alanis Morisette meets psychedelic industrial factory vibe but without all of the stomach pumping. Will listen to again and again.
While I'm not really into electronic music, this had some good moments musically. I van see why people enjoy this group.

We've listened to this three times through now because we keep forgetting to rate it, then listening to it again to remind ourselves. The second the album starts it is a groove: sensual and rhythmic. A very good album that has taken us by surprise and one we will very listening to again. (Somehow the album name doesn't fit with the vibe, which is why I think we keep forgetting it.)

Unique, sexy and captivating. What a wildcard of a banger. This album was a very easy listen, I would probably say it’s more so background/gaming music but it’s definitely out of the norm for me and I’m happy to enjoy it. Another album where if you told me it came out this decade, I would believe you. Fav tracks: Sexy Boy All I Need
THE FRENCH MAKE THE BEST ELECTRONIC IN THE WORLD. I REMEMBER FINDING THIS ALBUM RANDOMLY AFTER CRAVING MORE DAFT PUNK AND AHHHHH SO MANY GREAT MOMENTS. SO SPACEY. Remember was one of the highlights for my early college life just walking around campus not knowing what I wanted just pretending to know what they were saying in French. GOD IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL THIS IS WHAT LIFE SHOULD SOUND LIKE ALL THE TIME. LIFE IS SO HARD MAN AND ALBUMS LIKE THIS MAKE IT EASIER KEEP EM COMING
Sounds like Daft Punk, but compositions are WAY more interesting. Production value is incredibly high, if there’s not a lot of live instrumentation, then it definitely has me fooled. Side one had hits, but I enjoyed side two more, very introspective and deep.

We had some bossanova easy listening albums on the list, albums I totally hated, pure nothingness. This is also easy listening, but tolerable and sometimes even fun. Still more music for the background, like in the soundtrack they did or at background in some fancy coffee bar where a frappucino costs you 10 euro, not music I would listen too at home.

Never heard of these guys before. Pretty much easy listening jazz, as far as I can tell. Nightclub elevator muzak, haha sigh.... It's not hard to listen to but it's to blase for me. 2 stars.
This was gorgeous. Ahead of it's time and a pioneer of the downbeat movement that followed. Music for the weary drive home after a weekend festival full of various festival style chemical enhancements. 9/10

Really really interesting music from Air - first time listening and I enjoyed it thoroughly. This album took me on a trip and genuinely made me feel like I was in a movie. Loved the vibe all throughout and will definitely add this to my library.
WO, c'est comme du Daft Punk Lo-Fi, j'adore
I've always liked this album a lot; it's a strange mixture of psychedelia and 90s indie sounds with a bit of Trip Hop thrown in. If I had to think of similar artists it would surprisingly include Hawkwind - a few of the tracks seem like almost direct lifts of Hawkwind. For example, "La femme d'argent" is basically "Golden Void" with a different tune. The indie elements are reminiscent of bands like Garbage and there's a bit of Portishead here and there, even a bit of Lemon Jelly now and again. It's not an album I return to often, more of a late night/ early morning chillout vibe that fits a particular situation. The first four tracks are the best and then it settles into a chilled out groove that slowly winds down until the end comes. It feels wrong awarding only 4 stars, but it's a very strong 4.
Very pleasant for background music and peaceful
What an album. Playing it over and over trying (and failing) to appear smart and sophisticated and it still completely hits the spot to this day. Easily in my personal Top 50 I reckon.
Up to this, I'd been quite unimpressed by the electronic offerings from 1001 albums. This one finally felt worthy of inclusion on this list. Air does a great job of setting up and layering each track. I've been extremely impressed with the structure they utilize. New Star in the Sky was a particular delight. The chord structure was unexpected and really enjoyable.

Really enjoyed listening to this while working, nice to be introduced to mostly instrumental music that isn't what I'm used to (jazz/classical) and is also relaxing compared to something like house or DnB
I imagine this was more impactful when it first released but I still find it enjoyable. The album floats along without pushing too many boundaries, with it's chilled out, light atmosphere (with a dash of irony), probably always being the point. To be fair, Moon Safari accomplishes what it sets out to do, creating a mood that is more inward and immersive. Personally, this is occasional listening, whereas an album I teeter between positive or neutral. Fun Fact: Dave Depper of Death Cab recorded a nearly 1:1 recreation of this album worth checking out, which I think I like a bit more. As a guitarist, he adds a bit more edge.
The album kicks off well, with an interesting song, "La femme d'argent". Great groove, nice electric piano. Kind of Deodato meets Brian Auger and a dash of Kraftwerk. At its best, there's a smooth, jazz fusion feel. The longest song on the album, at just over 7 minutes. It takes a notable step down for "Sexy Boy", with a decidedly inorganic sound, and useless vocals which mostly repeat the title over and over and over and over. Not a bad groove, though. "All I Need" rebounds. When they use "real' bass it groves so much better, and the vocals this time are carrying actual vocals. It seems to bounce around between the two levels, really good, and OK. "Talisman" is great, "Remember " is meh.... etc. But there's a charm here, and I overall enjoyed this album. Overall, I'd probably go 7/10 or 7.5/10. But this is a 5 point scale, and integers only. I'm rounding up today, because this is really interesting, and several of the songs are solidly good. So that's 4/5

Owned this album and always liked several songs on it. After The Virgin Suicides, liked this band even more. Enjoyed listening to it again today. A relaxing, calming vibe drifts out from it and its damn near impossible not to relax while enjoying this.

Not normally my cup o’ tea, but as electronic music goes Moon Safari is about as good as it gets. Sexy Boy is the standout track. This record is all-time.

Lovely stuff. Dreamy, French pop with loads of detail in the background. Beautiful synths and base lines, actual hooks and lots to focus in on. But zoom out and let the beauty wash over you.

The songs in this album were relaxing and expectedly faded into the background. A few of them had late 90s/early 00s sounds to them. I was getting reminded of transitions or club scenes from some dramas of that era
Fleeting yet significant for the trajectory of Air, Moon Safari captures exquisitely the essence of the music for films aura that permeates through this. It is no surprise that, afterwards, they actually went on to score soundtracks so maybe this is the calm before the storm. Chansons agréables pour passer le temps! Favorites: La femme d'argent, Sexy Boy, Kelly Watch the Stars, Talisman, Remember, You Make It Easy, Ce matin-là.

The first side of this LP alone warrants a place for Air in this list. Smooth and retro-sounding instrumentals "La Femme d'Argent" and "Talisman" take the best of the flavors once explored by the likes of Burt Bacharach, Serge Gainsbourg and seventies Italian movie soundtracks. "All I Need" (featuring Beth Hirsch on vocals) is admittedly an understated ballad, but its central hook can illuminate the grimmest heart. And "Sexy Boy" and "Kelly Watch The Stars" are timeless bangers drawing from disco, 70s soft-rock and 90s 'French Touch' electro in a particularly catchy and idiosyncratic fashion, with hypnotic-yet-lively basslines, and equally hypnotic vocal lines on vocoder. The second side is also quite good, even if a little hit-or-miss sometimes: "Remember" goes to the same soundscapes explored in side one, but comes off a little short in comparison--both because of its tiny length and predictable contents. The acid-jazz/lounge undertones of ballad "You Make It Easy" (also featuring Beth Hirsch) sound "dated" in a way that's less elegant than in other parts of the LP, in spite of some impressive arragements towards its conclusion. "Ce matin-là" fares far better, as if it was a classic cut once composed by Ennio Morricone for a police procedural during his seventies heyday (what a memorable melody on the trumpet!). And so does "New Star In The Sky", even if's a touch too long and drowsy at times. Excellent piano-and-vocoder bridge, though, and nice subtle orchestral flourishes in its second part. As for "Le voyage de Pénélope", it's an apt closer displaying a fascinating jazzy synth line à la Vangelis, and it sums up all the different moods in the record. It's another short track, but it manages to be both relaxing and enticing, both "funky" and oneiric. Not so easy to pull off, all things considered. *Moon Safari* is a textbook 4/5-star album for this app (translating to a 9/10 grade for more general purposes). It never tries to impress you *a lot*, because it's too busy having fun first. And those records are often the most endearing ones for a lot of listeners. So it's nice that *some of them* find their way in such a list.
