Reviews (page 7 of 14)
This album exists somewhere in the nexus of pop, new wave and punk. It launches with uptempo energy and mostly keeps it going. It’s got its share of hits — and a great disco crossover in “Heart of Glass” — but also some lesser-known quality songs like “Picture This”, “Fade Away and Radiate” and “Sunday Girl” that showcase a band capable of writing compelling, evocative songs.
Good opening salvo - bit played out but still some classic tunes none the less
Classic band, classic album with some classic songs.
The album with most of the songs you know by Blondie - runs out of steam a bit in the last 1/3.
First impression - Blondie are such stalkers! Fade away and Radiate feels resonant for these times, just replace the glow of the TV screen with our phones and social media radiating through our lives.
Is it punk? Idk; but it’s a lot of fun. Hanging on the Telephone goes so hard. Three classics is really impressive for an album. The rest are good if a bit forgettable. To me this is just shy of a 5.
Fun album full of hits that helped pave the wave from punk to more poppy and melodic new wave.
You can hear what a diverse set of influences Blondie had from listening to this album. Reggae, punk, 50s rock, and new wave all have a place here and it all fits. I will say that the first two tracks completely tower over the rest of the album in my opinion. "Hanging on the telephone" is a thrilling start to the album, and "One Way Or Another" is great too, but then it lost momentum for me.

Ok, not that exciting to me. Probably pretty rad for the time.
7/10
A rather eclectic set of songs, with styles ranging from pop rock, punk, new wave, and disco. The writing and production are solid, and the playing is tight, but ultimately the whole thing is orbiting around the force of Debbie Harry’s personality.
Gelungenes fetziges Album im Punk und New Wave Stil in der Wechselzone von 70er und 80er. Es macht Spaß das Album zu hören, dass kaum Längen hat. Zeitlos sind die Songs „One Way Or Another“ & „Heart Of Glass“. Überraschend gut sind aber auch „Fade Away and Radiate“ und „11:59“.
Excellent album by Blondie!
simplesmente blondie bom demais
If you dont answer I’ll just Ring it off the door ! Und one way or another
Blondie - Parralel Lines hanging on the telephone, i recognise this, fun song, poppy, a bit basic, but easy and good to bounce to. i like the singer's voice. one way or another- OH I KNOW THIS!!! this is lodged in my brain from childhood. i can't remember where i know it from, but my god, it is lodged hard. catchy ass song, the drums and bass interact really nicely, i like that Debbie Harry's voice is passionate sounding, like she actually is gonna hunt me down. oh the breakdown yessssssssssss i really like this. OH THE ALARMS!! all the details and the way the intruments sound so bouncy, ahh great song. picture this- slightly boring but it's gonna be hard to follow up one way or another. THE PASSION IN HER VOICE!! YEEAAH. fine song fade away and i radiate- great intro, i love the contrast of the vocals and drums and the little other details happening in the background. after the intro it gets a little slow and sloggy but holy shit it sounds like a 3 course gourmet meal after listening to led zeppelin. i zoned out for a lot of it pretty baby- cute song, kinda boring subject matter of the lyrics. HOWEVER, i did just look at a photo of Debbie Harry and i can say this song might be about herself, god damn, she is realy pretty. sorry i know that's irrelevant to the music. the fade out in this song felt really off, like it was halfway between a fade and a total stop and it couldn't make up it's mind. fun song, bit generic. i know but i don't know- furries rise up aroooooooo <3 instrumental is great, oh shit theres a dude singing. he's there. i suppose. sorry hehe 11:59pm- bit boring, the intrumental is cute though. oh it revs up a bit, nice i would kill myself if today lasted a million years tho will anything happen- sorry i didn't pay much attention and zoned out. it didn't catch my attention at all sunday girl- this makes me want to shimmy my shoulders and it feels very queer which i loooove. like i wanna wear a leather jacket and court a lovely femme to this song. great song heart of glass- WOAH this is deep in my memories. gorgeous song, i love the synths? i think it's synths going wowowowowow. debbie has a really pleasant voice, even when she sings falsetto. i like the man doing bg vocals too, it contrasts in a velvety way. physically impossible to not bop my head to this. i bet it's fun as hell to play the drums in this band. banger i'm gonna love you too- ooo boppy as fuck. good song just go away- GOOO AWAY!!! relatable haha, i like the happy sounding instrumental with the "piss off" lyrics. sounds like another song where the drummer is having heaps of fun. and the bass actually. hell yeah once i had a love aka the disco song- do do dod od oddodododo oh! this must be the demo of heart of glass maybe? the original is better but this is fun too, the guitars are going crazy. the bass sounds great too. i'm actually not sure if the original is better now. this straight up has got me closing my eyes to be enveloped by the music. i wasn't expecting that! wow 3.9
Tolles Pop-Album. Highlights: Heart of Glas, One way or another 4/5
I always thought Blondie were British, but apparently Debbie’s from Miami, which is bonkers to me. Does she live in the UK? Or do I just associate her with Britain because the new wavey punk sound of this album (which I accidentally own twice on vinyl) is what I know them for best? Even owning it twice, I pretty much only knew the singles here. I love that Sunday Girl is basically the Ronettes with electric guitars, and even before I found out I’m Gonna Love You Too was a cover I could hear Chuck Berry- it’s fun that they’re so retro, and even were in the late 70s. Heart of Glass is the kind of disco I could tolerate as a kid, and it’s a banger that sounds like an arcade machine a bit to me, or a slightly dangerous Wurlitzer operated by a drunk woman. Fade Away and Radiate is something a bit different and moody but not really what I’d listen to Blondie for- I think 11:59 is probably my favourite of the tracks I didn’t know properly going into this. A fun listen for sure, but something about listening to such famous songs felt a bit basic- I guess Heart of Glass has been everywhere for so long it feels like a cliché and I can only think about how I know every note without ever having connected with Blondie emotionally. Still, a really solid 4.
Very nice.
Album #10 - 3.5/5 Generally I enjoyed this, but wasn't overall that excited by this album. It's hard to listen to songs that have been a part of popular media for so long, and try to reflect on how unique and impactful it would've been when it came out. "One Way or Another," is obviously a classic that slaps, but it's hard to be exhilarated by a song I've heard a million times in a million different pieces of popular media. Debbie Harry's voice as a lead woman was commanding and powerful, which I loved. Standouts: "Heart of Glass" & "Fade Away and Radiate."
my first thought was why are there so many band members in blondie? second thought was hey this should be a fun album. and it was for a while. i dont think any of the songs were bad but some were definitely better than others. its not a long album but towards the end it was beginning to wear out its welcome
Aw I love Hanging on the Telephone. Such a fan of covers. Every album should have at least one ❤️ Anyway, this album is cool. I kinda wish this is all pop punk ever was. 3.5
Funky album. Would listen again
Very well done pop album, Blondie is always ahead of their time
Some full-on favourites from a by-gone age. Great to re-visit this once-favourite album.
79/. A good new wave/pop rock record. There are some excellent tracks on this project, but it feels a bit uneven in quality. For me, the record is very front-loaded, with all the best tracks appearing at the beginning.
What a perfect sound. The original pop punk band? Sets a standard on how to blend the punk sensibilities into something mainstream and fun. Beyond that, they are clearly inspired by all the other genres of the day, disco, new wave, etc. And a lot of the songwriting could receive only minor production updates and not sound out of place today. There's a timeless quality to a lot of it. Debbie's voice is so great, doesn't even need harmonies or anything complicated, just enjoyable to listen to.
top 3: - hanging on the telephone - picture this - heart of glass + fade away and radiate
Good stuff
I discovered Blondie as a young child when "Autoamerican" came out. "The Tide Is High" was my favorite song. My appreciatioon of Blondie has spread a lot wider in the decades since.
I was hoping to discover some hidden gems here, but the less familiar songs on this record are pretty missable. Still, it has more than one all-time bop, which I'm going to say meets my criteria for four stars.
A classic. Already owned this but nice to revist.
What's not to like? It's Blondie. At their best.
Fun
I've fallen a bit behind in these reviews and have because of this seen that this album was coming up for the last week. I had really been looking forward to it as I love quite a few Blondie songs. It starts of great with two classic songs. Both "Hanging On The Telephone" and "One Way Or Another" are really great songs, elevated by "Debbie Harry's" great vocals. After that the album just fell off. A mark down in quality with no more songs that I really enjoyed (except of course "Heart Of Glass" which is another classic). I left the whole thing feeling a bit disappointed. Was going in to this thinking this would be a strong 4 or even a 5 judging by the hits on this record. But the hits were the only really good parts. Take the hits leave the rest. Going to settle on a weak 4 because a 3 just feels too harsh an album with such classics.
Great album was classics in it
🎧A new wave treat. Some very good songs: One Way Or Another, Pretty Baby, Sunday Girl, and the magnificent Heart of Glass (one the best songs of the 1970s).
Enjoy Joy
It's a testament to Debbie Harry's enduring relevance and continuing development that I think of her first as an older woman despite her most famous work taking place during her early 30s with Blondie. I always associated her work with Blondie with the cool detachment of heart of glass, but on this album she shows a broad emotional palette as a vocalist and applies it freely: switching in a second between pouting doll; cold robot; disarming friend; wailing poseur; cool fashionista; commanding dominatrix; growling raw animalistic ugliness.
крутота, блонди спасибо за веселье и большое количество хитов на альбоме, но до 5 недотянула крошка
Got an original record of this, would be a 3 but heart of glass brings it up to a 4
4.5 almost flawless
So many quintessential songs on one album. I didn't know Blondie could do this variety of styles either
The one and only Blondie
Great album. Her voice and the guitar riffs just made me lean back end enjoy for an hour. While I recognize some songs every one fit the album in a coherent way really well.
Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, and Heart of Glass earn this a 4. Rest are ok.
It’s hard to judge this album objectively – I’ve never been a Blondie fan, and Heart of Glass ranks among the most annoying, whiny and overplayed songs for me. So I approached the parent album with some bias. That said, it’s actually not bad. Ironically, despite its massive global success, Heart of Glass might just be one of the album’s weaker points.
A quintessential new wave, pop rock album. Switching to producer Mike Chapman did Blondie a lot of good, as they pumped out hit after hit here with the group all sounding at their best at the time. Debbie Harry is an iconic voice to many, showcasing great range with the variety of rock tracks featured throughout "Parallel Lines". The rest of the group also showcases their musical range, with the combination of new wave and power pop-like riffs & hooks. Just a strong album overall and probably Blondie's best work. Favorite tracks: Hanging On The Telephone (just learned that this was a cover!), 11:59, Sunday Girl, Heart of Glass
Fun, punky album
Nummers als One way or another zijn toch fijne powertracks.
Prima 4 sterren-album.
Debbie Harry has a great voice. Musically the album is very consistent. Nothing sound groundbreaking, but the simplicity is so well done, hard to find any flaws with it
What a pleasent surprise to find 'One Way or Another' and 'Heart of Glass' in the same album. I knew about these songs, but I didn't know about the group. This is a very solid album, and it sounds insanely clean for it's time. I was expecting a more noisy sound, but everything sounds fantastic. What I dislike the most of this album is that some songs feel standard. There's a lote of experimentation in this album, but there's also some songs that lack of it, and those I don't like that much. When they do it great, they do it really great, but when they don't, at least is still good.
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and oh my does Blondie make a banging breakfast. I'm still waiting for my lunch and dinner however...
Pop-rock. 2 megahits. Un 4.
хорошие песни и блондиночка секси
I was previously only familiar with Blondie's Greatest Hits. This album is almost like a greatest hits in itself. There are a bunch of really strong tracks on here. Hanging On The Telephone, Heart of Glass, and One Way or Another are all really good. The other tracks are solid as well. It's a worthwhile listen.
Great album 4/5. And I’ve always thought Heart of Glass was the beginning of white-person rap.
I like multiple songs from this album
Pretty good
Any doubts I had that this album would revolve around the stratospheric singles of One Way or Another and Heart of Glass were extinguished by mere seconds into the first track. Parallel Lines delivers constant fun throughout, and it’s very refreshing to see it done so well without compromising on musicality. Heart of Glass does steal the show, but that isn’t to discredit tracks like Fade Away and Radiate which push the ceiling of this album’s effortless enjoyability further. It’s a lot of fun. And you wouldn’t want anything more than that.
Important piece of New Wave. Debbie Harry's vocals has this cutting clarity with a bit of a growl, adding this menacing quality to some vicious lyrics. At other times, her high notes float effortlessly as exemplified in "Heart of Glass". The guitar-driven instrumentals with the punk-style drums create a fun and pulsing atmosphere. Standout tracks: Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, Will Anything Happen, Heart of Glass
I agree with Justin. I kept reminding myself that this was 1978. Listening to this album, I can hear the influence she had on The Bangles, The Go Go’s, and later No Doubt. “One Way or Another” is still my favorite song for the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
Liked it better than I thought I would. I can feel many female artists that I love being influenced by Debbie Harry. Shirley Manson of Garbage, Mazzy Star, Portishead. I can also feel the punk influence on Blondie it's polished pop punk but I can feel it.
It was good. Heard most of the songs before and can see why it would be very influential. The thing I kept coming back to is "surely this isn't from 1978 is it" and then I realized I am old. Good album.
Seems like all their hits are on this album. Personally prefer the more rock/punk tracks to the disco tracks
An eighties album that both serves up his single after his single and doesn't come across as completely manufactured and materialistic. I like that apparently Debbie Harry was still screaming lyrics as the studio engineer was calling her in to sing. Slightly punchy, raucous and tuneful.
Finally listened to this front to back. I knew this would be good based from the songs I know (Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl, One Way or Another) and it really was.
where lots of jittery new wave features vocalists that Succumb To The Neurotic Chaos to varying degrees, debbie harry always feels like the queen of it, channeling and commanding it. the chemistry between the unstoppable confidence of her presence and the eccentric, disorienting, jaggedy music is, among other things, some kind of theoretical Pop Perfection between chaos and order. frank infante's guitar lines go crazy all over here...just such constantly bright music in general, sunshine bent thru a bunch of sculpted prisms. is there anything more punk then being remembered by the superstar producer who orchestrated your """""sellout""""" album as The Worst Band I've Ever Worked With???? and still getting a bunch of immortal hit tracks out of it too...thats the stuff
I love Blondie and some of these songs were ones I had never heard. I love her kind of throaty vocals. A very fun and lively album.
Very solid guitar pop- love hanging on the telephone
Charles Shaar Murray claimed she had no star power. Nope. She’s terrific. They were what talking heads would be if talking heads didn’t take everything so so seriously. Debbie has fun. So does the band. Yes they’re serious artists. And there’s a bit of that. But they are fun. Heart of glass is a banger. So is the other hit single - one day or another I’m gonna getcha. Big dumb fun. And they loved playing with genre*. It’s a shame the heroin curtailed them. But what we have is great. *technically the first rap single was Blondie’s Rapture released just before Rapper’s Delight. History has slightly modified the story to ensure the accolade doesn’t go to a white woman. But the dates remain firm. It is right though that a black group get the credit.
I enjoyed this
Such a great fun album. So many great tracks, so many hits. Fave today: Hanging On The Telephone
Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl, Hanging on the Telephone… I’d never listened to the album but at least half the songs are familiar!
Well, this was a lot of unexpected fun. I knew the singles, but nothing else. It has aged really well.
I was a bit too young for punk back in the day but new wave hit me right in my adolescent wheelhouse. This album combines the exuberance of 50's rock 'n' rollers like the Crickets with the punk energy of The Stooges, as well as a touch of French nouvelle vague cool. Just about every song on this is a banger, but apart from the hits (and there are a lot of them!) the standout is the cheeky cover of Buddy Holly's I'm Gonna Love You Too. Peroxide-tastic!
That was fun. There are the obvious hits, but apart from them, the record in pretty nice, very entertaining and not one second boring.
Done
This is quintessential 80s rock to me. A couple of timeless hits that are immediately recognizable. Great sound. I really enjoyed this whole album.
Already have this. Great album 4/5.
7/10 Album koji je ispljunuo 6 singlova i zavrsio na svim mogucim ljestvicama 1979. godine. Odlican spoj rocka, new wavea i disca, te veliki uspjeh benda. Hanging On The Telephone sam prvi put cuo prije nekih 15ak godina ali u obradi Rijeckog benda Fit.
There are classic rock albums, classic jazz albums, classic blues albums, but classic pop album like this one are very rare. Simply a gem.
Parallel Lines by Blondie is an overall good album. Some of the instrumentals were very unique and impressive, and the singing was decent too. There were several great songs that I really enjoyed, but there were also moments where the album didn’t hit as strongly. Despite a few lows, it’s still a solid listen.
Already knew this Album great production great songs blonde at their best
Fun, poppy album with solid punk guitar. Shades of reggae and surf now and again keep things from getting stale. I found the first half somewhat lacking, but things came around by the end. Favorite song: Heart of Glass.
I love Blondie. A total badass mixing up genres in an edgy, fun way. One of the Barbie doll punks who claimed a spot for herself.
One of the best 1-2 punches in the rock era - hanging on the telephone into one way or another start things off with two bangers. Because of that they can then go anywhere. And they do. Punky. Proggy. 60s girl group. Disco. So many ideas on this album.
This was an easy album to listen to. Even though Parallel Lines came out in 1978, it really started to usher in the early 80s punk-adjacent. Obviously, the standout tracks are One Way Or Another and Heart Of Glass, but there were some other decent songs too. Best Songs: Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, Heart of Glass Worst Songs: I Know But I Don't Know
The sound of my teenage years. Energy, good songs and a charismatic Debbie Harry
What a collection of absolute bangers. This is on a par with Rumours in terms of 80's pop. The hits are all brilliant and the rest holds up. Its 50 years old and still sounds modern, well produced and danceable as fuck.
Another album that teen Kit was keen on, but never dove into. Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, and Heart of Glass are the songs that stayed with me through the years, and I'd largely forgotten the rest. I listened to Telephone while walking home from BART and it was a A+++ walking headphones song. Its as good a power pop song as has ever been recorded. Its fun and catchy, and it r o c k s. I liked the rest of the album, but they never hit the same heights as those 3 songs did for me. Also as Sam and Stijn may remember, I once went as Debbie Harry for Halloween (probably my best costume, except for when I went as a fridge in 4th grade). I spent a long time learning the lyrics to Heart of Glass for that Halloween, even though she definitely sings above my range. Blondie rules, but I didn't love the whole album enough for a 5 star. Album Cover: (A-) Fun and goofy concept executed well. Also Debbie is the archetype for all rock babes, and any cover with her on it gets a bump.
The rare album that gets better as it goes along!
A gem of an album. Infectious attitude and hooks over a cool late 70's American poppy new wave sound. Comes out of the gate strong with Hanging on the Telephone followed by One Way or Another, and then later on side two you get another 1-2 punch with Sunday Girl and Heart of Glass. This band must have been so much fun to see live!
Aside from their radio hits--and really only "Call me", "One way or another", and "Heart of glass"--I don't know that I've ever really listened to *anything* by Blondie, and certainly not a full album. I can totally see how this album would represent for Blondie-devotees their best album, and I enjoyed discovering that there was more range in their arsenal than the first few songs on the album implied. "I know but I don't know" and to some degree "Will anything happen" even seem to display their NYC underground roots, a nice touch. (I also thought it was funny to have a few retro tracks like "Sunday girl" peppered throughout.) The two highlights for me on this album are the unsettling song (and video) "Picture this", and the Robert-Fripp-accompanied "Fade away and radiate". But I also found I couldn't really get into this album, although I *really* appreciated how snappy the song lengths were. And the Wikipedia entry is a fascinating slow-burn evisceration by the producer Mike Chapman of every aspect of the band, from talent to lyrics to work ethic. By the end you feel badly for the band, but it all rings true to some degree. Regardless, this is clearly the most complete album by the band and an interesting intersection of their past and future, even if it didn't really do a lot for me personally.
Iconic album. The hit songs on this album are songs I like but was always suprised that they are as prolific as they are. The album is really solid and enjoyable, not much else to say.
This is pretty good, I only really know Blondie from their singles and occasionally confusing them for Goldie, who is absolutely not the same style. It's like if Devo was fronted by a woman and was less, well, Devo about things. Fun 80's style pop-rock without any over reliance on 80's staples like synths and drum machines. I thought the opening track, "I know but I don't know" and "11:59" the picks of the rest. It's funny that they're different from the big hits; they're almost like new wave punk songs without any of the grime of the actual punk movement. They're better than the singles in my opinion! I didn't think I'd like this as much as I did. Good time.
I love it. I mean those. I mean her. The disco/rock mashup works well. A toe tapping good time. The singles all survive the passage of time. I might throw on Autoamerican.
debbie
Not quite a five but close. This was a very enjoyable listen. The songs were fun to listen to while still being sonically interesting. Everyone does their part well.
Two really good songs, a few good deep cuts, a couple I could have cared less for, and the rest was relatively okay. So better than like 85% of what this list has to offer.
Pretty cool record, lovely production. Debbie's voice grates on me in certain areas, surprisingly. Favourite tracks: Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, I Know But I Don't Know, Will Anything Happen, Heart Of Glass.
Enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Blondie is an actual new wave band -- not just a disco act. Certainly worth a good, long listen. Unexpected bangers: Fade Away and Radiate, 11:59, Sunday Girl
classic shit
😎
Classic singles, some of the album tracks drag it down though.
Pop Pop Pop Bang Bang Bang

# Album Name: Parallel Lines # Artist: Blondie # Rating: 4/5 # Comments: Great opening tunes to this album. Hanging on the telephone and one way or another are absote bangers. With a capital B. Really enjoyed fade away and radiate. Almost more of a ballard. Sunday girl. great song. love how pop and cheeky it feels. Honestly, i always thought this album was from the 80s. i was genuinely shocked to see the 70s. miles ahead of its time. unbelievable tbh. Heart of glass. Love this song. Great drums, keyboard and vocals. # Top Tunes: Hanging on the telephone / One way... / fade away... / sunday girl / heart of glass # Would I listen to it again? yup! Well ahead of its time.
It’s easy to forget that there wasn’t anything else out there at the time that really sounded like Blondie. Good energy and top song with Heart of Glass!
This was ground breaking album in 1978 when it came out 0 and it still holds up. Give it a listen. There are a few hits you will know and the rest are pretty good.
Way better than I would have guessed -- you can really hear the influence she had on the 80s
Fav: Just Go Away Least Fav: I Know But I Don’t Know Yknow maybe new wave isn’t so bad after all
I love the representation this list has for 80s new wave. It’s an era I abstained from for the longest time, but have grown a real affection for in recent memory. There are just so many great bands. Blondie is one of those many for sure. There is something really interesting about this album. It’s hard for me to pin down exactly what it is, but I know I like it a lot. Truthfully this gets close to being one of those 80s records that is too much for me. But it toes the line between that and being so awesome that you can’t help but like it really well. Except it isn’t an 80s album. But somehow it is, in many ways, the essence of what makes the best of the decade so good. I’ve always appreciated how rooted in punk new wave really is, especially considering its history in bands like Television. And this feels like one of the most glaringly punk inspired records in the genre. Which was definitely a surprise to me, since I was not anticipating something that went so far in the rock and pop direction. And with those punk roots comes an album filled with amazing performances from every member. It is very rare to hear a female voice in punk. Which is what makes Deborah Harry such a memorable icon. She took already great songs like One Way or Another and Heart of Glass and elevated them to a level that allowed them to be considered essential songs. And even if this album is surprisingly punchy at times, the fun and sweet flavor they manage to maintain on top of it makes it accessible to all. It’s not that anything they are doing on these songs is inherently that groundbreaking. But it’s effective, and there is clearly some thought put into it. It excellent bridges the sounds of the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Rating: 8/10
Great album pop punk disco. Heard many times before but good to hear again 8/10
I like it! I could see myself listening to this again but would still not be a go to
I thought this might be an immediate five star album because It evokes. great memories. It certainly in the Bamford archives. Listening to it there were definitely eight great songs out of 12, which is better than average. It did lose me a bit in the middle though so might have to dock it a mark. Still wonderful memories from my childhood though.
I think this the first time I've heard this entire album. I've always loved the radio hits. The production is rough, very '80s, and still inspiring today.
Blondie is awesome. Let's just get that out of the way. In terms of their albums, it always astounds me how the hits, or let's say, the superior material, leaps out of the speakers in a different way than the other tunes. And, while Blondie's B-material is solid, for the most part, it just seems to lack some indefinable spark. The A-material is just killer — great vocal melodies, Clem Burke's under-appreciated drumming, interesting arrangements, propulsive energy, often quirky lyrics. And always, such a distinctive sound, even as they float through a variety of styles along the way. An aside: I have always loved Clem Burke and rate him among my favorite drummers. I say "under-appreciated" because he's rarely listed as one of the greats, but he's just so solid — something like Keith Moon without the mania. Thankfully, this album has a bunch of A-material... but then again, every one of the band's first five albums is rich with great songs. I think any one of those could have picked as "the one" to listen to. Glad I got to spin this one this morning.
For all the hits I've enjoyed from this band, I never bothered to check out any of their albums. I don't know that this is a great album, but I enjoyed it. There's a lot of variety and I liked how weird some of the deeper cuts were even if they didn't strike me as great songs. And of course, the hits are fabulous. Heart of Glass is about as great as a pop song can be. This is really more of a 3.5, but I'm rounding up because I like their moxie and because Clem is such a monster drummer.
Fun!
I mean. It’s a classic. One of the greatest pop punk albums ever! I don’t love every song, but I love most. And the ones I don’t love have great production. It’s an easy record to listen to.
This was pretty enjoyable! Lots of different, interesting songs on here. Surprise to be sure.
Great album, fund to listen to.
# 326 : Great album, I liked it. Almost the perfect pop rock album. This might be one of the best albums ever created. I forget how great this stuff is, Not a bad track in the bunch. It's not until you sit and pay attention that you realise how awesome it is. Favourite Track : One Way Or Another
ziemlich hohe bangerdichte
Several good and recognizable songs. Enjoyed this one today
The hits are iconic. It would be mean to say the rest are filler ... but they're not in the same stratosphere. It's all very cool, though.
Bangers on bangers on bangers near perfect album
Do you like songs that are catchy? Then Parallel lines by Blondie might be the album for you! I personally like this album even though I don't listen to this type of music on the daily. I liked it because in the song \"One way or another\" in some parts of the song the guitar follows the vocals (vocals go deeper = guitar player plays deeper chords or does a string bend downwards) They also have very catchy lyrics. In conclusion in you like songs in which they have catchy lyrics and have a good instrumental then Parallel Lines by Blondie might be the perfect album for you. I really recommend this album to anyone.
album one way or another have you ever watched an add and heard this music well I'm going to be giving my opinion about it now i think that this is good because it reminds me all of the adds I watched and it kinda made them more memorable and is kinda catchy and it gets stuck in my head whenever I listen to it its also got like this happy feeling because it reminds me of my past and adds I used to watch with the music on it I think that this album is good because it reminds me of the adds I watched that had this music in it I recommend listening to this album because maybe you get the same type of feeling I had or a positive feeling about it.
Do you like this album? I do! I like the song one way or another, but the other songs are pretty good too. One reason I like their music is because it is cachy, and it is up beat and cheery. Another reason is because she has a very good voice. Lastly it also has a good beat, and a good background. So that is why I'm recommending this album to anyone who likes a good beat.
Do you like to dance? well this album is for you. I liked the lyrics and the instrumentals. I didn't like the third song because of the instrumentals but the rest of the songs were great. In conclusion I can see why it was #1 in the UK. I do recomend this album because it is catchy. 7/10 album
Catchy, propulsive, just plain enjoyable.
I love that the album starts with a telephone ring ICONIC. Just a banger of an album; 'hanging on the telephone' 'one way or another' 'heart of glass' and 'I'm gonna love you too' all on the same album?? It's also such a good sing-a-long album so many weird vocal flourishes to try and match. The middle was a little slower for me but still good music to dance to -and the beginning and end are supreme.
Solid album with some real classic tracks.
This one was tons of fun! Very poppy, and super catchy. Even most of the album tracks had me tapping my toes. A couple skips in the middle, otherwise a fantastic album.
Every Blondie song you know and love all on the same album ... Great for us, probably not so much for her. But one way or another, you are going to like this album.
Hit after hit of high energy new wave. Holds up well after all these years.
All the Blondie hits except for Call Me.
Y'know, for most of my time listening to this album, I was all ready to give it an "Eh, it's fine" 3 and move on. 'Course, that's 'cuz I spun side one twice before I got to side two. And side one... I mean, it's good, but... Eh, I'unno? I was just expecting to have my mind more blown by "the album with 'Heart Of Glass'," and nothing on side one was really clicking into that. Even "One Way Or Another", although that might be because I'm so more familiar with it as "the Swiffer commercial song" than I am with it as a Blondie song. Then I slapped on side two... Oh, wow, "11:59". Now **that**'s an amazing tune. It aligns so much with the kind of energy and tone I normally enjoy that, g'y'ah, I hope it's the fan favorite deep cut, 'cuz it's sure mine. I'd put it with Elton John's "Have Mercy On The Criminal" on my "list of amazing side two openers that I can think of/remember as I'm typing this." And wouldn't y'know, the rest of the side kept pretty well around the bar "11:59" set—and "Heart Of Glass"goes without saying, naturally. So, that's a 3 for the first side, a 5 for the second side (I was at a 4 'til I heard the "WOW" leading into the guitar solo on "I'm Gonna Love You Too")... Well, hey, that's an 8/10. And I'll have you know, I woulda still rounded it up to that even if I gave side two a 4. Good that it all evens out for you either way, eh, Blondie? (Also, next time I'll listen to the two record sides closer together, promise.)
Some pretty kickass pop rock from one of the queens of music. Solid 4 for me.
Electric. When I listen to it I can imagine myself driving a car on a sunny day with the windows down. My favorite song: Fade away and radiate.
One of those albums that's just present in the community unconscious. It's nice to hear one of the early new wave albums, where you can clearly hear the surf rock influence. The songwriting is sharp and inspired, a la the tempo change in "Heart of Glass" or the bridge in "One Way Or Another". Favorite tracks: "One Way Or Another", "Heart Of Glass", "Sunday Girl"

Lot of great songs in this one album! Think I knew 2 of these but all were good. In my head I thought Blondie sounded more disco, guess I was remembering it differently. 4/5
surprisingly fun album. also, didnt realize I'd heard so many blondie songs I knew
Really pleasantly suprised with this one, thought they were a singles band but the whole album is great
Peak blondie
I had never noticed how much of this album is a tribute to 50's doo wop... Couple of classic tracks bumps it up to a 4.
Upbeat with some classic top 40 hits
Very fun album. A couple of mediocre songs in the middle pull the overall rating down, but it had a couple of gems I'd never heard before along with the hits that are all great. 4.5 stars
-damn i love this, it’s so fun. One Way Or Another is of course an instant classic and a standout on this album, but there are some other really good songs here too. feels a bit ahead of its time even -Favorites are Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, 11:59, and Heart Of Glass
This was really good. I don’t think I had ever listened to the entire album straight through.
Pop, Rock, 1978 -> 4
I love Blondie but have never listened to an album in its entirety. Was not disappointed!
Really good.
This blonde woman and her army of imperfect clones of Jerry Seinfeld, they know how to cook up a tune. Their lines were truly parallel on this one. I say it every time and I'll say it again, women are better at punk than men.
Loved this album.
Beautiful foundation for 80’s synth pop! Full of energy.
Great Blondie sound with the cool avant-garde musicality I expect. Wonderful album, if a little short. Four stars.
4.5 stars
What an album, It has all the Blondie staples and then great tunes to discover like Picture this and pretty baby. Blondie has a great sound and Debbie Harry has an iconic voice. I rediscovered Sunday Girl and 11:59, so thank you to this challenge. Favourite song: Heart of glass, one way or another or hanging on the telephone Least favourite: Fade away and radiate Album artwork: Really cool cover
Very high energy and optimistic, this album was a really enjoyable listen.
Classic. These are the kinds of albums I want.
The album open straight up with "Hanging on the Telephone" wich is a cover but wonderfully executed by Blondie (the riff, the chorus and Debby's voice just perfect). And then it goes on to "One way or Another" wich is a way more punk rock song, with Debby's voice being more rauching. I enjoy it Other good song included: Pretty Baby, Picture This, Sunday Girl and Just go away. Finally the most well known song is probably the disco influenced "Heart of Glass". Once again the music in ultra groovy and wonderfull but once again Debby Harry's voice is over the top great. The song was a #1 hit in the US and probaly contributed to place New wave into the mainstream. This album proove that Blondie will be nothing witouth Debby Harry, the ultimate frontwoman. So the album is still pretty close to their root in the New York downtown Punk Sceen, but they were never categorised as ounk, but as New Wave, wich is Punk music that could go on the radio and its probably a reason why this album was such a sucess.
I never really listened to blondie. They remind me of a punk Fleetwood Mac. I felt uninspired by a lot of the tracks, but there are a couple standouts. 11:59, will anything happen. Positive feel good vibes
Blondie, what's not to like!
Pretty good
Edgy but polished, grimy but pristine, Blondie somehow straddles two worlds in late 70s pop and pulls it off. A fun listen with some depth. Best song: Heart of Glass
Great vocals with catchy tunes. I feel like all of the big hits from Blondie are on this one album. 4.1 stars
Classic Blondie 4.5
Great 70s rock album!!
Really good pop album! Not all songs bang as much as Blondie’s biggest hits off this record, therefore 4/5.
This was a bit of a hit factory and the songs I didn't know were a nice time too.
Solid overall
Hrikalega módern plata. Rock solid þéttleikinn og virkilega gott sound. Lögin eru létt en ekki of poppuð. Mjög skemmtileg synthavinna. Heart of glass er disco legend, one way or another er bylgjurokk af bestu gerð. Sunday Girl fer á playlista rosalega þægilegt, líka á frönsku!
Frábær plata, sem stenst ótrúlega vel tímans tönn. Smellirnir geggjaðir en restin líka bara mjög fín. Debbie æðisleg söngkona.
One way or another, and heart of glass are the classic tracks off this album. But it is pretty good overall. Sunday girl, and I'm gonna love you too, are also good. Overall this is a great example of early 80s, pop, new wave music
A near to perfect pop R’n’R album. Eleonore Friedberger must have listened to it very often.
pleasantly surprised here. really enjoyed this one.
A classic new wave record that pulls more from pop rock than synthpop. Blondie bursts out of the gate with an incredible one-two punch of Hanging on the Telephone and One Way or Another. From here, I find the album goes into a bit of an autopilot until the incredible Heart of Glass, perhaps one of the finest new wave songs ever penned. After that, the album just sort of ends. Listen, I like Parallel Lines a lot, but it is undoubtedly held up by three or four great songs and a bunch that are just fine.
Millions of Debbnie's fans can't be wrong - 4
Favourite song - One way or another
Good fun pop music
An eclectic collection of tunes. Some sound like they could have come straight out of the 60’s. Mixed with songs like Radiate and the huge rocking hits like Call Me and Heart of Glass.
Excellent album showing a bands definitely in its prime and willing to push into new places. Yes it is 70s but also you can hear so many things influencing others. Radiate was a great deep cut.
Hresst og skemmtilegt. Fílidda.
So overall this is an enjoyable album, it has some high highs and some mid songs but nothing bad. I'm unsure on it's replay value. The lead singer is fantastic but at the same time her style of singing feels a bit dated and something I would likely get bored of. If I could give half votes I would give this 3.5 but since I can't I'll round up.
pretty fun
Top notch vibes (one way or another my beloved)
Would you look at that? Another iconic album! Blondie's Parallel Lines is not only a very interesting album, it's also very good. I really like it. The sound is very fun and enjoyable. Debbie Harry's vocals are very unique and I like it. The instrumental sound is quite varied between the songs. And yet, despite that, the album still feels focused and consistent in tone despite the different influences and tones between songs. The writing is solid. The genre blend is very commendable. I can't really say that there's a bad song in the bunch. Obviously, the big hits like "Heart of Glass" and "One Way or Another" are great songs, but even the lesser known songs like "11:59" and "Fade Away and Radiate" are very good in my opinion. This is just a great album right here that may grow on me even more with time. High 4/5.
I only knew a couple of the songs but they were classics and such good ones. Over album was good very 80s sound to me.
Several classics on one album, but the bonus for me was hearing new tracks I’d never heard before. With a lot of these albums, I always think “time and place”. If I bought this on vinyl in 1978, I would have definitely listened to it for a week straight. It’s an album that should be consumed as album. Sometimes we’re reminded the 80s shift to singles wasn’t all positive for music. I should have known more of these already.
Really strong album packed full of memorable hits.
++: One Way Or Another, Fade Away And Radiate, I Know But I Don't know, Heart Of Glass +: Hanging On The Telephone, Will Anything Happen, Just Go Away +-:Picture This, Pretty Baby, 11:59, Sunday Girl, I'm Gonna Love You Too 7,6/10
Blonde has always been on my periphery. They fall in this weird spot where they always felt like a pop band, but a 70’s pop band that I might actually like with people playing real instruments and lead singer who can really sing. But they’re so close to being 80’s that I just never encountered them. I’m really glad I finally have. This was such a fun and creative album. It’s goofy, it’s silly, and never takes itself seriously. The lyrics are funny, the riffs are at worst well thought out and well intended and at best are damn catchy and amazing, and the band just has this charm about them. It’s a very easy and inviting album, one that I’m tempted to spin again right now. I know this makes it sound like I’m giving it five stars. But I’m not. It can be all those things I just said but not be what I think is their best. I’m convinced they can do better than this. I want them to. I want more. So this gets four stars. I’m hoping I get another chance through this project to see what became of them. Standout Tracks: Fade Away and Radiate, 11:59, Heart of Glass, I’m Gonna Love You Too
Catchy, driving songs especially the hits. But for me this falls in the liminal space between the Talking Heads, real punk, and 80s pop. It doesn't quite go all in or represent any of them fully.
Banger
Listened to it like, 3 times, and honestly, it's really good pop rock. Outside of the obvious couple of mega hits, the rest of the album stands on its own.
I like Blondie.
High energy, 70’s beat. A lot of fun and an easy album to enjoy
Enjoyed it! All for Blondie going down the pop path wholeheartedly, though it’s far removed from their punk, CBGB origins. Heart of Glass is a classic, but some nice deep cuts here too.
Really good, solid album!! Had not listened to this album in full previously. Several hits from this album and the others songs are pretty good. Some are better than others, but overall a great album.
epic for its time
The somewhat rare album with a few standout, very famous singles, that still has a bunch of non-famous songs that are also great. Really enjoyed myself with this one.
Dig it.
This album has some timeless records on it & I feel like when you create music that transcends generations, then that elevates the status of the album. Sound wise, I think they did what they do very well (what does that even mean?) which makes the album an easy listen.
This was a pretty great album, I knew about Blondie but never really listened to her. This was a great listen Top tracks: Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, Heart Of Glass
Already Listened.
Fantastic stuff.
The mark of a great pop album where almost all of the tracks could be singles, and the record company had a good go at this. Credit to the producer for keeping the songs tight and getting a consistently high vocal performance from DH.
Very enjoyable pop-rock piece by a band with an incredible singer that's easily distinguishable just by the tone of her voice. The album had a couple of fillers but nothing that bored me too much. It falls somewhere in the 3.5 stars category for me, but I'm rounding it up to 4 because it contains a couple of incredible, timeless bangers like 'Heart of glass' or 'One way or another'. 4 stars
Enjoyable but not best of the best
A surprising number of song I knew. It’s a solid album throughout, and doesn’t include Rapture, mercifully.
Great pop rock album, I liked all songs but two. Debbie's voice is amazing, idk who that guy singer is that ruins the 6th song. Stand-out: Picture This, Heart of Glass
Five stonewall classic 5 star tracks Seven forgetable filler 2-3 star tracks.
Not bad
- this is a really really good album - her voice is incredible - awesome variety of sounds - rivals ABBA in my opinion -4.5
I am a sucker for punk rock foundations. One way or the other, heart of glass: undeniable classics. Theres something about the energy of Debbie Harrys vocals that is still impressive and i just wanted to sing along.
Some classics on this album
Debbie's voice 🫶 Starts off with a banger at #1, sets the mood. #2 is one of their most famous songs. #3 Picture This - That's a definite keeper. #4 brings the mood to chill, nice little break. There's some nice songs after that but maybe a second listen will help appreciate them more. Number 10 is kinda taking up all the anticipation for me 👀 And there it is, the only disco track no one will bitch at 🥲 Didn't know the lyrics included the Spanish word Mucho, in mucho mistrust. Also that the original line at 2:55 was pain in the ass 😂
I own this album and unfortunately never scratched deep enough to discover it’s true wonder.
Really, really liked this one. A couple big hits (Heart of Glass the most well-known) but I enjoyed the other tracks as well.
Never would have listened to this one, it's pretty good though Will I listen to again: 75%
i love blonde women
FAVO: Hanging on the telephone, One way or another, 11:59, Will anything happen, Heart of Glass
What a great album. Several banging tunes and the perfect pop song (Heart of Glass)
Blondie, like the Talking Heads, are often mentioned as progenitors of punk rock even though they sound nothing like conventional punk music. But their attitude and creativity are both very punk rock rock. Do it yourself and do it outside of the system. I wish more bands like this existed today. And listening to this album really helps you realize how connected they are to everything from funk to new wave. To punk and everything in between. They even get mentioned as influential to hip-hop sometimes thanks to “Rapture.” But honestly Debbie Harry can call herself whatever she wants.
I've always liked Blondie's singles, but was aware the band's lustre didn't seem to last that long, and I'd heard rumours about them not actually being all that good. And, reading the Wiki write-up, it made it sound like recording this was a triumph of production in the face of poor musicianship and the band being a bit, well, rock n roll in their attitude. Well, pah. As far as I'm concerned, this is a collection of really good songs and the playing sounds fine to me. As for the overall sound, whoever was ultimately responsible for it, it encapsulates all the good things about pop in 1978 - edgy guitars, fun, dark enough, synths creeping in there. I'd actually forgotten how much I really, really like Debbie Harry's voice. A properly good album with loads to enjoy, and several classics that people will be singing along to forever.
Good to hear the whole album, which I never had. The singles are sublime and I enjoyed an hour of the nostalgia her voice will always evoke.
Very cool and poppy, just a lot of fun to listen to
Simultaneously in four eras at once, this album has a retro 50s/60s doowop digested through punk thing, a mid 70s disco thing that puts the beat first and insists that rock should be fun to dance to, all of the elements of the 80s new wave thing, all of which would be canonized in a billion 90s teen movies. There are so many currents running through this (power pop hooks and harmonies, arena rock guitars and huge drums, post-punk scenester cool that's somehow not just affectation, synth pop instrumentation, even some heartland rock organs and earnestness) but they're all synthesized in a coherent purposive whole. Amazing fun top to bottom that peaks with Heart of Glass, one of the coolest songs on the 70s.
Super solid album and it's easy to see why this put them on the map. Heart of Glass is obviously the most popular song and deservedly so, it's hard to not feel that beat when it is on. I can see myself coming back to this album, not too long, good, and easy to listen to.
Interesting and energetic album. Some really great and catch tracks. Worth another listen.
I don’t know that I have ever listened to this front to back, and it’s a fun ride. I was familiar with what got radio play, and from the band in general I was more familiar with 1980’s Autoamerican. This album as a whole was stronger in its components and unique style than I remembered/expected. Blondie always stuck out as going against the grain and Harry’s signature vocals remain unique and timeless.
With so many hit singles, and with such a unique mix of punk/rock/synth pop, this record helped set the stage and usher in the new wave. Ironically it would be the disco leaning Heart Of Glass that would help squash the disco movement for good, signaling a drastic change in the music world just around the corner. Debbie Harry’s voice is both strong and sexy and arguably one of the most immediately identifiable. While Clem Burke as one of my top 5 drummers is unmatched in his delivery and style. An overall solid listen.
This was fun. 3.75/5
I’m exactly the right age to totally get this album. Really catchy pop/new wave/rock and roll album with lots of classics on it. The cover of I’m Gonna Love You Too was unexpected but really enjoyable. A really nice listen and one I’ll come back to every now again. Exactly the right length as well. Good stuff
5 certifiable classics and not much filler. Not quite 5 star but 4.5 certainly.
Solid 4 - the hits are so awesome but comes out at the front way too fast. the rest blends together, so I didn’t find the album worked well in a “story telling way” when I typically give my 5 ⭐️
i love you debbie harry
Charming melodies and sometimes there's a really nice guitar sound like on Just Go Away
Blondie har mange bangers
This has just the right amount of everything I love; a little bit of punk, rock, disco.. it's started off really well.. but tapered off.. still giving a high rating cos of one way or another
Hanging On The Telephone // One Way Or Another // Heart of Glass //
Fun listen! I've always liked some of Blondie songs, but never delved into them until now. Favourite tracks: One Way Or Another, Picture This, Fade Away and Radiate, I Know But I Don't Know, Sunday Girl, Heart Of Glass.
Off the bat, liking the sound compared to many 80s albums on here. Wait, this is late 70s, even better. I'm vibing with this on a Monday morning. Very clean, inclined to 3.5* rounded up. Love her voice, fits very well. Highlights: one way or another (a classic), heart of glass
Classics. 4.
Honeslty, I think Bondie was a gap in my knowledge. I knew some hits, but I underrated how good the rest was.
It was nice to listen to the album again after a long time. There really are a lot of hits on it. 4/5
Boomer Carly Rae Jepsen [extremely complimentary]
started strong, ended strong. the middle was fine! it was good! i was bopping along to it at my desk.
Day92 - a really good album with two monster hits on it.
The singer's vocal range/power kicks ass overall good jams.
Some classics mixed in with some new ones. I would say this one is a solid 4 star offering from blondie. I don't know if I'd go back to it all the time, but definitely a good one.
It's easy, after decades of semi-constant Classic Rock play, club play, hanging with gay friends play, college radio play of "Heart of Glass" or "One Way or Another", to forget there is a whole album of good stuff here, indebted to garage rock and girl groups, very much a downtown NYC band rather than the product of AOR "New Wave" marketing and all that shit. So check out "Pretty Baby" and "Fade Away and Radiate" are a potent 1-2 punch. "Hanging on the Telephone" is a helluva opener. And within the context of such solid tunes, the single/classics become even more emphatic, dare I say, even more classic. A fun record, back to front.
really nice overall, most of the album doesn't reach the heights of the "One Way or Another" and "Heart of Glass", vocals remain iconic
Man, Blondie is just so much fun. 4/5
This is so fun -- great pop rock? I think thats what i'd call it
I have not heard Blondie for around 20 years - the album is much better than expected. Cool stuff and it works for me today quite well
4.1 Really shows the bridging of the 70s and 80s. Faves: hanging on the telephone, one way or another
Has some pretty great hits from start to finish. This was a good listen.
Good
The sound of Parallel Lines is simultaneously classic and ahead of its time. There were many riffs and melodies that sounded straight out of today. There’s no denying Blondie rocked!
This was fun to listen to. Most of the Blondie songs that I'm familiar with were on this album. 4/5
Great album. Awesome album cover.
Solid album. The songs are upbeat and energetic.
Some great songs, enjoyable listen
New wave/pop rock. Love the energy through most of this album. I already loved the big hits from this album but was pleasantly surprised at the rest of the songs. Tons of fun melodies and really tight composition made for a great experience. It does kind of feel like "just a collection good songs" than like a cohesive experience as a full album but sometimes you just wanna listen to great pop songs. Starting to see the issue with claiming these albums classic because they're considered essential for a reason. Anyways it's a true classic. Will revisit but probably just certain songs. 4/5
Enjoyable listen. Felt ahead of its time.
postively surprised, liked it
Blondie is a good listen, they’re so iconic. That would’ve been a great time to be a young adult, and surprised any of them made it out of there alive.
ONE WAY OR ANTOEHR
Full of classic radio hits. I haven't listened to this in a while.
Really great album all around, not a single bad song. Debbie Harry’s voice is also so good
Has that late 70s/early 80s cheese to it, similar to the Springsteen album I listened to, but with singers who sound pleasant. It was gonna get a 3 but I really like Sundays girl, One way or another, and of course Heart of Glass.
Very fun album. I like it quite a lot
Fantastic Album.
Some classic in there amidst some average pop tracks. Very enjoyable insight into one of the 80s finest bands.
3.7
Keyifli, hoş ve enerjik bir albüm.
Wild at times to consider how post punk and nu wave are basically siblings. The album is a bit cloying at times but it never lacks style or substance. The high points out weigh the low points and honestly the biggest flaw of this album is that Dreaming is not on the album.
Enjoyable through and through, great energy and consistently good songs. Fun!
Great album
fun 70s vibes, gets my body movin and groovin.
rlly good sorry i'm sick and working through a bunch of these i missed. favorites are probably pretty baby and will anything happen? might need another listen to settle on it
Really surprising! Almost prog rock in places?
Really tight pop rock album. Not pop perfection, but really solid. Heart of Glass, One Way or Another. Difficult to go wrong. Just heard the drums on the intro for "I Know, But I Don't Know." Love that. I dunno. Strong album. Apparently it's the one that brought fame to the band. That's cool. I dig it. It's just, there's a bunch of filler, but it's not bad filler -- just not all that memorable on the whole. Really *listenable* though.
3.5 - struggling to rate. I really like some tracks but others felt very filler
Some heavy hitters here, and I do think the singles are the standouts. Heart of Glass another example for me of a song that I don't actively listen to because I think I've heard it a million times, but it sounds so good hearing it with a keener ear. Most of all the other tracks just filler for me, but I think the singles carry this one quite a long way. Fave Tracks: Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, Heart of Glass 3.5/5
A very good album. It was repetitive to a degree, but it was a very important and good album for people, especially since the lead singer of every song was by a woman. A good listen for anyone
I kinda hate not giving this a 5. It generally deserves it mainly due to Harry’s singing, she is New Wave and Pop pushed together so she sounds beautiful and aggressively new wave at the same time. That gives the music an edge and the good songs are unforgettable. I still think there are some that are not great although musicianship is always very good.
On first listen, I was pretty lukewarm on this album, and I felt like little about it really stood out beyond the hits I already knew. I'm skimming through it a second time and finding a lot more to enjoy. I'm picking up on more of the punk elements the second time, and I think that gives it a new flavor that adds a lot. I don't love everything about it, but it's generally well-made, diverse, and doesn't overstay. 8/10.
