Reviews (page 15 of 16)

I don't really have a lot of say on this one. It's a good album, but I'm not sure if it hits for me. It may need another listen down the road for it to truly sink in. Favorite Track: The Chain

So many hits all on one album. Kinda hard not to rate it high. If I’m going to be critical: The songs I didn’t know really did nothing for me. The hits themselves, are mid at best when it comes to hits.

(έντονο μπάσο, αργοί ρυθμοί και χαμηλές συχνότητες) The Chain

I dont think this album is as amazing as the rest of the world seems to. There are good songs, maybe I have just heard some of them too many times. Enjoy the chain and gold dust woman

As far as fleetwood mac albums go I find this one to leave a lot to be desired its good when its good but its meh when its meh cuts like “oh daddy” and “dont stop” are just boring to me. Not the best showing of fleetwood macs musical prowise would have much prefered their self title or anything from before the buckingham/nicks era.

P good kinda fun

I thought the album was alright it wasn't anything revolutionary. lyricism: 3 General enjoyment: 3 cohesion (between songs): 4 production: 4 overall: 3.5

This is a good album, even a very good album at times, but a lot of it is very safe paint-by-numbers pop. It's not challenging and it wasn't particularly innovative, both of which I think should be imperative for the highest rated album on this site. Finally, the last two tracks are significantly worse than the rest of the record, so the album loses half a star. 3.0/5.0: Good

Good stuff. I think my enjoyment of this would go up by like 20% if I listened to it a few more times and read up on all the interpersonal drama.

Loved Silver Springs, The Chain and Oh Daddy

Great album. Love the band in all it's complexities.

It does have some great songs but really its massively overrated on here.

Ugh. Not a fan of this band, but duty calls. Song 1, I know, but don't care for. 2 & 3 were the same. As was 5. Respect for a band I don't like having this many recognizable songs on one album. 6 was a miss, then 7 another known, dull song. 8 was known, but still not my vibe. Two more misses near the end. I don't like it, but it's definitely good for this list.

Second Hand News 3.8 Dreams 4.0 Never Going Back Again 3.8 Don't Stop 3.6 Go Your Own Way 3.7 Songbird 3.4 --- The Chain 4.1 You Make Loving Fun 4.0 I Don't Want to Know 3.6 Oh Daddy 3.5 Gold Dust Woman 3.5 It's just good radio-friendly 70s pop rock , nothing more , nothing less. Kind of overrated in this site though

The Chain is a 5. Rest of album is 3 for me.

some really good songs on this album and some really boring

Like an unseasoned steak - obviously good though a little boring

The Chain and Dreams are the only good songs on this album, and the funny thing is that both are fucking amazing

wish i was a white american so i could fully enjoy this album

I like this album, full of classics like go your own way, I noticed lots of familiar melodies, a lot of artists must be inspired by this band.

I’ve never even heard of Fleetwood Mac until today yet i knew at least 1 song already. Based on reviews i just assumed this album was being glazed but hey it’s not bad. Don’t usually like music like this but even on the tracks i felt were kinda boring, they weren’t bad they were still listenable and i could appreciate the muscisianship. It was good tracks and then some amazing tracks. Amazing tracks meaning ‘The Chain’ ‘Dreams’ ‘Go Your Own Way’ which are (again i only got this information from the reviews) the hit’s that are already recognized from this album and i see why. I can’t say i don’t see why some people think this is the best album oat, but i also can’t say i don’t see why some think it’s overated, meaning: it’s interchangably a good and great album for me

I’d deliberately ignored this for decades. I was keen to listen when it came up on my list. The song exploder with Lindsey Buckingham discussing go your own way was fantastic. And…. That and The Chain are the only high points for me. The rest was just middle of the road meh…

some great songs, but also lots of filler

ooooo. very campy! love this vibe. Makes me think of summer. Of the woods. Of hot evenings wandering the alleyways of my city. Dirty sneakers. Headphones blasting music. Smiling at passerbies.... make falling in love with a pretty stranger, just for a single song.

In my opinion, there’s no way Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” is the number one album as this site suggests, probably more a sign of the major demographics reviewing albums here. This might not crack my top 50 nor even my 4 star wall. I grew up with a lot of music people, and this was never talked about or that highly regarded aside for being a decent, smooth, 70s pop rock album with a lot of hits…but a little boring and generic, sometimes even the butt of a joke. Nothing ever wowed me here except for maybe “The Chain”. What I will say, though, is this album has some glossy production, especially for 1977…and like I said, hits galore.

Two star album, one extra for the chain

If ABBA ripped into the class As, The Visitors would be Rumours. Quite honestly, I don’t understand the fuss about this album. The lyrics are occasionally snarky, but sonically it’s cohesive and safe. It’s all bark and no bite.

Good album! It's probably a bias since I've heard them a lot more, but I definitely like the radio songs more than the others.

Possibly a bit overrated but still a good album full of hits

I have listened to this album before, but I've always thought that its really overrated and i still do. I just don't see whats so special about it, I think Gold Dust Woman and The Chain are phenomenal songs but they're the only ones worthy of the praise this album gets. You Don't Wanna Know and some others are also good just not the all-time great that it's coveted as. Its not a bad album by any means though

There are a few absolutely stand-out tracks on this album, and they probably warrant inclusion on this list for them alone. As a whole the album is fine, but I could take or leave most of the tracks.

Love it

I’m not a fan of 70

This is just a good album for me. I really like Chains. Beyond that, everything else is fine. Soft rock is not really my thing.

this is definitely an album

It's a cool album,I really liked it,I think I'm starting to like this kind of music,it had sprr of a country vibe

It's the quintessential easy-listening album :\

My little sister claimed this band was my “identity music.” I didn’t understand then, and I still don’t now. I’ve asked her why and she said she can’t remember what the root of the joke even was. So that’s all I think about when I hear this band and album. It’s not a bad album, but I would t describe it as anything approximating my identity. Really like a 2.5.

i liked the album, lots of songs and snippets that i’ve heard on tiktok. for sure, an amazing classic album.

Gotta say I wasn’t impressed by this one. The stature that this album has is actually a bit baffling. Tracks added to playlist: Don’t Stop You Make Loving Fun

Ou "Go Your Own Way", c'est quand même l'ultime chanson de "va te faire foutre" déguisée en tube radio joyeux.

Maybe I’m not white enough to get it

Overrated

some boring some cute i love fleetwood mac

Good stuff couple peak songs

great, well known songs. an alltime classic.

dis nigga’s legendary??

This is widely considered one of the greatest records ever released. While lighter, poppier rock isn't normally my thing, I do recognize how great this record is. It spurned a lot of hits for a reason; because it's a really good record that people love.

This is an album that is extremely hard to review if you were around when it was released. It is a record that has been so over-played in the last few decades that it's hard to be objective. Several of the songs are worn out to many listeners. Many people will rank it on memories of what they were doing in 1977 when the hits were played on the radio, regardless of the album's merits as a whole. Some will rate based on how much the love Stevie Nicks. I was around when this came out and have several of these perspectives. I consider this record to be very important to pop culture. A soundtrack of sorts to millions of lives. That said, it is a very good album. Not a great one, based on musicality and innovation.

Carino dai

Funny this one, my sister had it back in the 70s, far too tame for me, over the years though it grew on me, I do love “Dreams”, listened last night to the whole album

Wanted to enjoy it more

So many great songs. Lindsey Buckingham’s guitar and Stevie Nicks vocals are sooo good. Probably as close to a perfect album as you can get. But I’ve never really liked it that much.

I feel like out of all the records I have listened to this is the one with the most mystification that surrounds it. Not only is it known as one of the best albums of all time its making is seen as one of the most fantastical tales in rock history. I and can acknowledge that all these things are for good reason but I also have to say that all of this may have made the album seem a little underwhelming in my eyes. It is still a good record but I find songs like Songbird and I Don't want to know just some of the uninteresting spots on this record, but there is so much genius in this LP that is hard to say its anything less than good 70's rock music but for me thats all it is Fav tracks: Dreams, The Chain, You make loving fun, and Gold dust woman

Ikkje så dumt

The most popular album on here. I know the singles, that's it. Starts bad. First 2 Buckingham tracks are misses for me. Although Go Your Own Way is the first song to get me tapping along. The Chain rocks for sure but the rest of side 2 is meh. Overall, 3 great tracks does not make the best album ever. 3.5 rounded down Heard before? Some Owned: Yes: 29/108 (26%) Will I get? No

Rumours” (1977) is polished, hooky soft rock built on sharp songwriting and vocal harmonies—far less noisy or dated than many ’60s/’70s classics, and easily one of the few “old” albums I can see myself genuinely enjoying, even if I’ll mostly replay the standout tracks

The good songs suffer from being too overplayed. It was an enjoyable listen, but I didn't feel like this was a true classic on first listen

I've never listened to Fleetwood Mac before. The album is very melodic, pleasant to listen to. A bit too country to my taste. Sometimes it reminded me of The Beatles, sometimes of Sabrina Carpenter. I would listen to this album while driving a car, but I don't think that I'll reach for it again.

A strong 3

This reminds me of my mom. I have heard this album so many times it’s become background music. She was a huge Stevie Nicks fan but I have always preferred Christine Perfect. Dreams, The Chain, and Gold Dust Woman are the standouts. Also Stevie Nicks shot cocaine into her butthole. Allegedly.

its almost like it was a greatest hits record

3 This is one of those albums that you knew was going to show up on this list sooner or later, and there are certainly no arguments from me on its inclusion… but at the same time, I’d be lying if I said that it’s a personal favorite of my own. Don’t get me wrong, having four megahits the size of these contained all on one release is an incredibly impressive feat, but I just can’t say they’re songs that I love personally - with the exception, of course, being Go Your Own Way. I know this whole album is about the clusterf**** going on behind the scenes surrounding the band members’ romantic relationships with each other, but Go Your Own Way has always been the one track that’s really spoken to me about relationships. Like, if you’ve never shed a tear while listening to the song after having your heart broken, have you really lived? For me, it’s undoubtedly one of the two best songs by the group, the other being Landslide (not on this album, unfortunately). But as for Dreams, Don’t Stop, and The Chain… I think they’re fine songs, and certainly not flawed in any way, but they’re also not something I would go out of my way to listen to. And if I’m being petty, the “thunder only happens when it's raining” lyric on Dreams has always kind of bugged me. Like, I know artistic license and yada yada, but it’s not a true statement in the slightest. As for the rest of this album… blah. Once again, there’s nothing bad to be found, but it did make me question if the four megahits are doing all the heavy lifting regarding the acclaim surrounding this album. I felt nothing about most, though I did raise an eyebrow at Oh Daddy, and You Make Loving Fun reminded me a bit of Trampled Under Foot - a song I would consider like C-tier Led Zeppelin, so do with that what you will. Through and through, this album is fine, and I have no real complaints. I do think you would have to be out of your gourd to say it’s objectionably bad, but it’s just not a piece of art that speaks strongly to me for the most part. Go Your Own Way is doing some heavy lifting on my 3 rating here.

Amazing

Like a bit of Fleetwood.

This was the first time I ever listened to this album. I never had the urge to check it out before. It's very good, but something keeps me from really liking it. I don't know what. You can almost SMELL the cocaine on this one, can't you?

The songs I know are great, the album tracks I didn't are... not as good.

when its good its good, but for a classic album thats less than 40 mins theres a lot of filler lol Fav song: I Don't Want to Know

I think its just me. It's almost definitely just me. But Rumours doesn't do much for me. I appreciate it, it's good, but I can't feel anything for it. I prefer Fleetwood Mac as a blues band with Peter Green. Give me The Green Manalishi over this, any day.

Catchy, but not overly exciting for me. Prefer other albums in their discography

funky. Liked.

Solid album, no complaints here.

I think this album is far and away the one I have listening to the most solely for the purpose of trying to experience the praise everyone sings. I must have listened to Rumours straight through half a dozen times to try and fall in love with every track here, and I'm sorry to say it still hasn't happened with this listen. It does suck because I want to love every track on here as much as I love Dreams, The Chain, and sort of Gold Dust Woman (just like everyone does). But the rest of the album just doesn't click for me. The songs aren't bad at all, nothing here is bad; I just wouldn't ever go out of my way to willingly listen to the remaining nine songs here.

This album is like the time you dated that crazy bird despite all the warnings people have. When it was good, boy was it good. But when it was bad, it was bad. Not much consistency and you never knew what was next. You'd think you were done and over it, but then the next bang(er) would have you wanting more and suddenly you'd be thinking you could listen to this album for the rest of your life and be happy. Next thing you know you have 3 kids, a mortgage and a job you don't really enjoy at the BluRay factory. You come home from work tired one day and forget to wipe up the milk you spilt while making your regular 5.30 pm cup of tea, and your wife looses it. You realise you should have listened to everyone all along. Especially Dave "2 step" Taylor, your oldest friend, who had been saying all along you'd been blinded by the hits. But know you don't know what to do. You blew your life savings investing in your crazy wides homeopathy buisness. That promotion you applied for at the BluRay is looking unlikely due to the rise of streaming services. Divorce will be expensive and the recent mortgage rate rise was the last thing you needed. Some days you even look at your 3 kids and all you can see are the traits of your wife that your come to despise. You wonder what kind of man can fall out of love with his own children. Any way where was I. Some good, some bad. 3 stars.

The music you would hear while trying on some jeans for your mom at a shopping center. Pretty mid

Obviously less foundational for me than for others

The only thing that prevents me from enjoying this album as it should is the fact that I heard this record every single weekend front to back my entire childhood. It's great, sure, but I'm sick to death of it. Is that fair? I don't care, life ain't fair buddy whatareyagonnado I'm sure they'll be okay

Great musical ability but not my cup of tea

Overrated

The singles are amazing, but the rest is just ok. Glad I have the full album to listen to, but not sure I'll revisit this one.

I guess the reason this one is so highly rated is that there is nothing much to hate about it. It is inoffensive and full of songs everyone knows. However, to me it is very bland. At times the songwriting, music and vocals are good but they never kick on, never explode with energy, never veer from the middle lane. Go Your Own Way and The Chain were the highlights.

Big disappointment (given it’s high 1001 rating), it’s just all a bit hackneyed and plodding isn’t it. The harmonies seem straight out of the CSN playbook, and then most of it feels like middle of the road blues Clapton rock mixed with some Fairport’y style early 70s folk stylings. Not feeling much originality. Other than The Chain, there’s not anything to get the pulse racing. Think I liked the last minute or so of the album best as, a) it was a bit different mood wise and nice guitar work, and b) it was coming to an end and I could put something better on.

Easy listening with good vibes, it’s not only « dreams » it’s all about that atmosphere and ambiance in their music

One of the highest-rated albums on the list and, on paper, an anormous and influential success. Yet I’m totally missing the whole Fleetwood Mac hype (kind of like with the Eagles or Greatful dead). That said, Rumours is much better to me than their previous album we tackled, thanks to the presence of a few classic rock staples. It goes down easy enough, with emotion and some solid melodies.

It’s ok

Fleetwood Mac Take Two. Although it proved to be a mega hit of an album, to me it was a weak and middle of the road kinda follow up from the original band with classics such as Oh Well and Albatross. Not afraid to let their music speak for itself. So I probably resented the addition of not one but 2 vocalists. I bought the cassette tape of Rumours in Singapore in 1979 before parallel imports became a thing. I don't mind it though and even like some songs (the Chain).

Like most of Fleetwood Mac this is a fine listen but works best as background music.

Dreams and The Chain are definitely my favorite songs from the album. I really like the instrumentals of this album and it all sounds beautifully cohesive, but I’d only listen to about half of these songs again. Still hard to give it anything below a low 7/10.

known album

Boomers don't want you to know it is middling at best.

This is obviously an important album, good tracks but I just don’t like Fleetwood Mac that much

Fleetwood Mac are alright, not a massive fan but this has some good hits on it

Some enjoyable tracks such as Dreams. The other tracks didn't really stand out to me. It was good to hear this album as I can hear the influence in other albums later on.

i like looking at the overall stats on this site so i know that this album is in the top 10 highest rated. and i don’t get it at all. there are a couple good songs. Dreams and The Chain stand out. but the rest of them are pretty forgettable in my opinion. Go Your Own Way obviously isn’t forgettable but i just don’t particularly care for it. i’m not a huge Fleetwood Mac hater but i certainly don’t understand what most people feel when they hear this stuff. just very bland overall.

while acknowledging this album is damn near perfect - impeccable production, quintessential 70s beachwood canyon vibes… I just don’t like Fleetwood Mac songs. the chain and dreams are the tunes that do it for me.

Banger, but too overplayed

Never got the fascination with this one.

My favorite thing about this album was the scene in Flight of the Conchords: Murray: When you're in a band, you don't get with your bandmate's girlfriend - past or present. Jemaine: Yes, well thanks for that. Murray: You get a love triangle - you know? Fleetwood Mac situation. Murray: Well there there was four of them, so more of a love square. But you know, no one gets on. Jemaine: Okay, I see. Murray: Mind you, they did make some of their best music back then. Bret: Rumours. Murray: No, that's all true.

At least it’s better than Tusk.

Wild how many hits are on this one. I'm a sucker for the tracks with harmonized vocals. Came away liking the lesser known tracks. I get the hype but don't expect to return to it.

Some great tracks. Cohesive, but too many skips for me to give a higher score.

It was pretty good, nothing grabbed me hella though. I also didn't pay attention the most so don't listen to me.

This album feels like there are too many filler songs, for the most part I do like it and it has many classic songs I do like a lot. I love Stevie Nicks' voice.

my goal in life is to be perceived as whimsical and ethereal as stevie nicks 3,5/5 🌬️

I have been familiar with this album for most of my life and never listened to it in its entirety. I enjoyed it.

Incredibly overrated. The Chain was fantastic and some others were decent, but also a few dull tracks.

86/1089 - The drummer in this band stole my Dad's socks at the gym. Anyways on to the review: It's okay. Some good songwriting here and there but some very homogeneous sounds throughout.

Take one part personal drama. Add a boatload of cocaine. Multiply that with huge egos and you get one of the most overrated albums in music history. It doesn't mean it's bad. It's fine. There are good songs on here. But to call it one of the greatest albums ever made isn't accurate in my books. Certainly not terrible. Just fine. That's all. Oh and cocaine. Lots and lots of cocaine.

It has several cool songs. "Dreams", "Never going back again", "Don't stop.." , "Go your own way" ..

Harmillisesti muutamia kohokohtia lukuun ottamatta en tästä paljoa innostunut. Arvosanaksi 2 tai 3, mennään kolmella nyt vaikka.

I never really clicked with this band (apart from the Chain)

The P-51 Mustang combined a British engine with an American aeroplane. I do not like the Mustang as much as when you've got the same engine in a Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito, Lancaster or Barracuda. Half of this album is worth the hype, half has just always been schmalzy soft rock to my ears. I love the bits I love and can't stand the rest of it - but can at least respect how well they pulled it off/the fact that they pulled it off at all. Favourite tracks: Dreams, The Chain, Go Your Own Way, Gold Dust Woman. Honourable mention to the final chorus of Silver Springs, a song which it seems no discussion of this album can escape without!

Pretty good. It’s a classic so I guess hearing was essential. Probably won’t have a repeat listen.

I've tried cocaine twice and I've dabbled in cheating so I think that's enough background to understand this album it was alright

I can see the appeal of this album, but I'm not in love with it. There are a few songs here I'm already familiar with thanks to radio play, though I maybe didn't realize they're all from the same band until now. The songs are well composed and inoffensive to listen to, there's just not much here that speaks to me personally. Which is fine. It's nothing I'll go out of my way to listen to again, but if someone else wanted to put it on to listen to I wouldn't be mad about it.

Some of these are alright. Some even pretty good. I'm just a hater of the way people sing in 1900's rock. Never going back again best song

This album is very overrated in my opinion, but it's still okay with some good songs.

Hard to find fault with a classic like this but I'll still say that for my ears, it sounded a bit bland. Now don't get me wrong, it's actually an almost perfect pop/rock record with catchy melodies and feel good song writing. It's just that there is nothing interesting or experimental here. If I grew up in the 70s, it would've been a great nostalgia trip for me listening to it now. But for my modern sensibilities, it's just a good pop album. Nothing more. Loved the songs "Dreams", "Go Your Own Way", "The Chain", "Gold Dust Woman"(the heaviest song of the record).

The hits of this album are a 4, maybe even a 5. Songs like Dreams, The Chain, Go Your Own Way (shoutout to that amazing guitar solo at the end of it. I liked the ending track too. The rest of the songs on the album let them down. Too mellow, too soft, too uneventful. Not enough passion in the "filler" songs. Is it a good album? At times yes, but not consistently Does it deserve to be the highest rated album on this website? Absolutely not

[6/10] Trying not to be a heretic but it’s just not for me

Yeah, it's perfectly fine, whatever.

Not my thing.

I know this album gets a lot of love, and I guess I just don't "get" it. "Dreams" is good and so is "The Chain," but nothing about the rest has ever really impressed me. In fact, I don't think these versions of those two songs are even my favorite performances. That's not to say I dislike this album - for me it's just good, not great.

Some pretty good songs but kind of didn't like the rest so much

This album excels in every musical aspect—compositions, vocals, instrumentation, and production. It’s impeccable. However, it fails to captivate me. At all. I prefer music that is at least a little perplexing, a little strange, and this softrock album doesn’t deliver that. Another point of critique is the lyrics. They read like confession-porn. The artists' expressed mutual love and sorrow don’t resonate with me at all. It’s a prime example of melodrama. I know one must tread carefully when discussing sensitive topics like this album, with the high rating it has. Rumours (and Fleetwood Mac) are just not my thing.

I never liked Fleetwood Mac, but I knew about this album, and as I thought, I don't really like it. Besides 'Dreams' and 'The Chain', which I already knew, I like 'Oh Daddy'. Overall, it's a good album, but not for me. When I was listening, I picture myself in a field, like a knight.

The Chain

Second Hand News 3 Dreams 3.6 Never Going Back Again 3.1 Don't Stop 3.4 Go Your Own Way 3.5 Songbird 3 The Chain 3.5 You Make Loving Fun 3.3 I Don't Want to Know 3.1 Oh Daddy 3.2 Gold Dust Woman 3.3 Score: 3.272727273

Good, particularly enjoyed Never Going Back Again and The Chain.

Some super iconic songs, and a bunch of filler.

I love two songs, but the rest LITTLE BIT boring

The Chain - классика, имба.

Considering the whole band were at war with one another, fighting & divorcing it’s remarkable that this album ever got to launch, but it did & is often considered the greatest album of all time. It’s not in my top 10 buts it’s a great listen, The Chain & Dreams are the stand out tracks for me & make up many of my playlist, even though extensive commercial air play over the decades! Would I listen to this album again in its entirety? Probably not but it’s a solid 3 for me.

I dont feel for this band the way a lot of people do, and i feel like the radio growing up abused this album. so its hard to hear with new ears, but if i had never heard of them id probably like it more im afraid.

I read the reviews before listening to this album and was really excited to dig into it. The first song started and I thought that this was something I could really like. But then song 2 and 3 happened, and with the exception of "Go Your Own Way" no other songs made me think "Yeah, this is good!". None of the songs are bad, but there's really not much to be excited about.

Was pretty good

Three or four albums from 1977 that I’d put above this. Even within slick soft-rock, I prefer Steely Dan’s Aja. Nothing wrong with it, nice tunes, excellent production, top 5 of 1977 for me, rather than top 5 of every album ever made.

The Chain восторг

I've never understood how so many people think of this as the greatest album of all times. They are a bunch of mostly decent songs but the over saturation of them in TV, Movies, presidential campaigns etc etc make me dislike them even more. That being said The Chain is a pretty fucking amazing song which gets this album to 3 stars despite me not really caring for the rest of the album.

Surprisingly mid

Not good, not terrible.

lotta hits

Another artist that I have learned to appreciate through my daughter’s tastes. I knew Fleetwood Mac but I never really gave them very much attention. There are definitely some great songs on here, I’m actually surprised how many songs I know.

It’s that song w/ the skateboarding dude drinking cranberry cocktail. Some fun songs, but not something that I'll be coming back to over and over again.

Not as good as I remembered it. Weird ass band

Good but not excellent

Some lovely moments but a BIT on the bland side.

Just a bit ‘meh’

This album is currently the second highest in the global stats. It's not even the second highest in my last 2 weeks of rating! It's good, but not that good! Boomer nostalgia at work.

Catchy tunes about breakups and heartache. Your mom probably loves this.

As much as I've always disliked they type of people that love Fleetwood Mac and the younger generations that think they've discovered them for the first time, it is a well-made album and some songs I don't mind.

I've heard the hits from this album on the radio my whole life it seems. I'm not a huge Fleetwood Mac fan but there are some stand-outs on this one. Lindsay Buckingham's guitar work on "Never Going Back Again" is nothing short of magical. I don't think I ever need to hear "Don’t Stop" or "Go Your Own Way " ever again.

Decent. Lots of old hits

i dont like this one as much as most people do. Its alright. Ill skip the listen today!

Ok so I have to start by saying I hate Stevie Nicks. Always have. And I don't know why, I'm usually a sucker for a female singer in a rock band. I liked Fleetwood Mac a lot more when they were a bluesy psychedelic band with Peter Green. Stevie Nicks sort of ruined them a little bit for me. That said, I do like this album. I think this is one of those albums that every likes because you're told it's good all the time. It is a good album but not one that I would really ever pick to listen to. Maybe once every few years. One of the best albums of all time? Not for me. But it definitely should be on this list. I'm sort of conflicted as to what rating to give. It's better than 3 but it doesn't make it to 4 for me. Do I round up for the general acceptance of the album as being great or do I round down based on my personal liking of the record and the silly, childish cover?

Probably the album that I listen to the most from them

I liked a few songs, in particular "Never Going Back Again"

Enjoyable but nothing amazing. Would listen just to hang out.

I like the sounds on this - super clean, with zero reverb on everything but vocals. Can only imagine how much cocaine it took to produce. To me, the songwriting peters out about 1/3 of the way through. Also, it is very, very hard for me to pretend to listen to this fresh, as if the singles off this haven't been played to death already, but that's to the artists' credit, I suppose.

the chain is great but the whole album is just ok

i know this is a deeply unpopular opinion but i don’t care for this album. it has its moments. wrap it up.

Iconic album. Weird hanging belt.

7/10 heard a lot about this album before but never actually checked it out before

Very well paced album, but I don't find the music itself very compelling. It all feels a little bland and I don't care for any of the vocals. Or any of the tracks really. Besides The Chain. I do not understand how this album is considered one of the greatest of all time.

I like individual songs more than the album as a whole. Stevie Nick's voice does nothing for me I'm afraid and the band as a whole always felt a bit lite. Still 10 million + sold when people actually had to make a physical effort too get their hands on a copy is rather impressive.

Good album. Signature Fleetwood Mac. Doesn't have any of my hits

twangy, country but rock enough.

This is another classic album that I haven’t listened to all the way through before, although I knew most of the tracks especially *that* bit from The Chain which is the theme tune for F1 racing in the UK for some reason. The back story to this album is interesting too, with most of the band going through drug problems and divorces, and somehow still managing to produce a whole load of optimistic love songs. My highlight was Songbird, one that was new to me

I knew them by name and now I know I would have been happy if it stayed that way. It's actually pretty boring to listen too. It's well arranged, they can sing, but I'm bored to death and it's far too mellow for me. I was about to rate it with 2 stars, but it was saved by the Chain that is rather entertaining, and by the end of the last track that builds nicely some tension.

Hard to choose between 2 or 3. I think subjectively it's a 2 but I gotta be nice sometimes I guess

Objectively this is probably a 4/5, but I’ve been rating subjectively since I started this so for me it’s a 3/5. There are songs I love and listen to somewhat regularly (dreams, never going back again, the chain). There are songs I can tell are good but I have never cared for them (don’t stop, go your own way). There are some good songs that just didn’t really do anything for me. And there are a few duds. So overall it’s a good album but not one that I’ll be returning to in full.

I could never really get into this album except maybe the hits, so I really wanted to listen to the lyrics this time listening to it. Instead I ended up having a fight with my husband over the phone in the middle of listening to it which seems pretty apt. Still don't quite get the album but. I think I get the essence now.

It’s okay. Maybe it’ll grow on me one day, maybe not

Good Album.

It was alright, just not my style.

Overhyped.

I liked "Second Hand News" better when I thought he was singing, "I'm just sittin' here nude." Another cultural touchstone. You don't have to like it, but you have to be aware of it.

Expertly recorded. Like, I'm no audio engineer, but even I can tell this is masterful studio work.

The classics are just that. The fillers are just that.

kinda nice but idk, not for me

There is a lot of hype about this album and with so many hits packed into it I had high expectations, but I wasn’t all that into it and my opinion even decreased on the second playthrough. If I was going through a break-up it would be perfect, but as it stands it was a bit twangy/country for me. Listens: 2 Fave Track: Go Your Own Way Rating: 3

Well, I like three songs: Dreams, Chain and Go Your Own Way. The rest doesn’t work for me. I can’t get why this album is so adored and acclaimed by people.

Good pop-music.

Fun-some songs short but many iconic ones. Would listen again 3.5/5

Not many comments on this. Listened to it split over many sessions and not in a good headspace. Knew several songs and overall felt it was an album I would enjoy listening to.

A classic. I don't like the guy's voice as much as Stevie Nicks. Some bangers.

“Go your own way” is pretty cool the rest is okay

Stevie nicks cuts are great but the rest is okay

I'm not a big fan of Fleetwood Mac and I've listened to this album a few times now without really enjoying it much. I like some of the big hits a little, particularly The Chain, but the other tracks don't really stand out in any particular way. It's essentially an album of rather drab, safe, beige music that is inoffensive but ultimately a bit dull. I can't give this higher than a 3 star rating, as it's middle of the road.

I sorta am over this band after the 90s reunion tour, but I guess it's been 25 years so maybe I'm ok with it now. I can't get Mick Fleetwood's oh face out of my head while he drums though. 3/5

Second Hand News - 2 Dreams - 4 Never Going Back Again - 3 Don't Stop - 5 Go Your Own Way - 4 Songbird - 2 The Chain - 5 You Make Loving Fun - 3 I Don't Want to Know - 3 Oh Daddy - 3 Gold Dust Woman - 3

Solid album, music is catchy and the harmony of the voices work well. Favorite song is The Chain. Go Your Own Way and Dreams are familiar and it’s easy to see why they are the hits from the album.

Honestly don't get why it's so beloved. It's good some great songs, but not front to back killers.

I found it pleasant to listen to.

Easy listening. I knew some of the songs.

I had no idea that I would know like 9 of these songs. Would have told you I don't know any Fleetwood Mac songs. So recognizable 3.9

Really? This is the second highest rated album on the whole site? I mean, it's certainly okay, I wouldn't be giving it a three otherwise, but there are so many albums on this list I would not only say are better, but FAR better than this one that are struggling to even get a 3.5, or even worse, are lagging behind this one by a whole point. I just don't get it, it's certainly decent soft rock, but what else does this album do other than have hits on it everyone knows? Is that it? It's recognizable and therefore, safe? Bleh, makes me want to give it a two just for the annoyance of it, but it's not the albums fault, so I'll be fair. I have nothing to say about the music itself, save for impressive bass playing on some songs, and the Chain deserves its fame. The other hits? Not so much...

Second Hand News - 8/10 Dreams - 7.5/10 Never Going Back Again - 7.5/10 Don't Stop - 8/10 Go Your Own Way - 8.5/10 Songbird - 8/10 The Chain - 9/10 You Make Loving Fun - 7.5/10 I Don't Want to Know - 7.5/10 Oh Daddy - 7/10 Gold Dust Woman -7.5 /10 TOTAL - 86/110

Musically dull. Musically brilliant. Overrated. Underrated. I don’t know what to think. Both positions are tenable. The hits are two chords, maybe three. The album tracks occasionally hit four. Yet the arrangements are, from a professional musical view, superb. The follow up, Tusk, is easily five stars. This is both a five star album and a one star. 2.5

Not really a fan, but also didn't hate this.

Dreams, you make loving fun, you can go your own way Second hand news sounds like baby shark. Nice songs but sounds like a product of its era. Some classics but nothing I’ll be coming back to

I understand that people love this but It sounds pretty routine to me.

A few solid classics in this one. I just don't Stan on FM like many do.

Great album. Lots of songs I recognize that I didn't know were Fleetwood

Um it's fine. Like, The Chain, Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, all amazing 9/10 songs. You Make Loving Fun is decent, Don't Stop and Go Your Own Way are annoying to me, album tracks are mid to fine. Would be a 6/10 if the best songs here weren't so strong. 3.5/5

This band merits an almost The Eagles-level of hatred from me, but this is definitely their best record. Maybe that's easy to say because it's also their most popular. I can listen to some of these cuts once a year or so, which is high praise from me.

It’s good. But not my favorite. I have to be in a specific mood to thoroughly enjoy it.

If you sold this to me as a Greatest Hits album, I’d buy it. But to describe this as possibly the greatest album of all time is blasphemous. The infighting and hatred amongst band members is palpable and the album has no cohesion because of that. Songs were written separately and were quickly recorded together right before they all stabbed each other. Are the songs great? Of course, I’m not an idiot. But in terms of putting together an album that follows a theme and a style and invokes any specific message, this is a fringe 4 that deserves a 3 simply due to being overhyped. Lindsay and Stevie are amazing artists and would have succeeded in any band. Instead they made their own lives hell for the sake of global fame. Also I’ve never heard a man call this his favorite album ever, but I know dozens of women who will say this is their favorite. Is that a coincidence or is there something to that statement? The world may never know.

Didn’t listen, but I heard it before. Twas a solid album from what I remember. Not quite my preferred type of music though. Dreams is the clear highlight.

Nothing really stood out to me.

5 - it reminds me of someone being the best. Yet also 1 - reminds me of same someone being inexplicably shitty. It's got to be a 3.

Nice, but not a genre that I’m crazy about. There were some songs that are well known that I didn’t know were this artist’s.

relatively tired at this point, but still quality.

Most overrated album in history? Could be. It is still fine, sometimes good. Probably closer to a 4 but I round down.

gosto de fleetwood mac, mas achei esse album meio chatinho destaque do album vai pra the chain, a melhor o resto é uma vibe meio abba, não me apetece tanto quanto os primeiros albums, em especial then play on

I watched the tik tok video and enjoyed myself. 3/5

Bought this when it was first released and it sent me backwards in time to some fantastic music. It remains a guilty pleasure.

Pretty good

Fleetwood Mid Prefs: Second Hand News, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, Gold Dust Woman Moins pref: Never Going Back Again

It's a decent album, but a couple of tracks stand out way more. I can't divorce this, as a work, from the stories that go with it. I think that had it not been such source of speculation, rumour and newspaper inches it wouldn't be as highly rated as it is. Shortly after the release of this album, Stevie Nicks was approached by Bill Shatner, who proposed marriage. Looking at the Star Trek money, Stevie considered it briefly before realising that she didn't want to be called Stevie Shatner-Nicks for the rest of her life.

Several well known radio songs. Okay

Eh it was alright

Most of the songs are catchy, fast, and to the point. I cannot, however, get over my dislike of the southern/countryish sound or feel of the music. So there isn't a ton wrong with this album per se, but the style of music is not for me.

Simple, enjoyable, flowing 70s music. Nostalgic for a time I wasn't part of.

Can kind of understand why it's rated so highly, but I just didn't gel with this one as an album mostly Couple of standout cuts though, especially The Chain

It's part of my upbringing. It's a fine album but I don't own a copy (which says something) and I'd never listen to it by choice.

kinda boring (lame)

Liked 1 song the rest was only ok

As a first time listen, it's pretty chill and vibey. I'm surprised how much of it I already knew from exposure alone. Can't say I'm a massive fan of Fleetwood Mac but I'm sure it'll grow on me.

It's good! It's fine! Sounds more modern like all of Fleetwood Mac to be honest.

It was fine. Wasn't exciting.

What a big album, what a distinct sound. It's an absolute soft rock behemoth, hugely influential. In parts it also feels - well - a little superficial. The sound is immaculate but I never feel like I can get lost in the music. The surface level is beautiful, but I'm not sure there's a whole lot underneath. Good, very good in places, with moments of genius. Yet I don't feel massively compelled to give Rumours another spin anytime soon.

"The Chain" mastered the art of suspense, verse, chorus, tappy drums... is it now, no! Then the same, same results. Then 3rd time round... boom, the F1 music starts. Loved it. The rest is remarkably unremarkable consider how well regarded this album is.

3.5 but more 3 than 4 so 3.

music to race motor cars to

I was waiting for this album because everybody hyped it up and i thought it's very good. It's kinda boring, just good quality dad rock. I don't know how it got the title of "one of the greatest albums of all time" but ok, still pretty decent.

Ah. This is the famous Fleetwood Mac album. Honestly, I've never really gone out of my way to listen to these guys. Sure, if their playing on the radio or a music channel but album wise..not really my band. If it wasn't for the commonly played tracks I properly would've rated this lower.

If you asked 1000 people to name one song off this album and made a histogram of the results, 99% of the answers would involve 'Dreams,' 'Go Your Own Way,' or 'The Chain.' This isn't a knock on the LP, but it definitely depends on a few anthemic tracks that have stood the test of time for most of its impact. The other songs are pleasant, but lack the absolute verve that these 3 powerhouses incorporate (as well as feeling a little dated... Wurlitzer much?), and it's hard not to feel as if they're filler around absolute killer in an album that dominates vinyl sales even today. The additional reliance on fadeouts for the end of every track gives the album an almost unfinished feel as well.

I thought I’d like this album more. Maybe had too high of expectations.

Rock, pop

Overrated but still good. Dreams and The Chain are top notch. There rest ranges from average to pretty good, but not truly great. Don't Stop borders on being annoying. If you took the lesser songs off this album and combined the strong songs here with the best cuts of the self titled album you'd have a 5 star masterpiece. More Stevie would've helped too. More Stevie is always good. This is probably a 3.5 or 4. I'm giving it a 3 because my lord is it overrated.

Solid album, bunch of classics 3+

Practically every song is a super-hit of the 70s / early 80s. Definitely feels like you're watching a movie from the era. The nostalgia factor is there and I could definitely see adding several of these songs to a dinner party playlist. In general, though, it's not something I'd listen to regularly

Baby in the hot tub, baby in the hot tub la la la la, la la la la.

I liked it but it's not like I haven't heard this before both literally and metaphorically

Bonne ambiance

Never listened to this in full. Mostly familiar with the hits, sounded very clean and would be good to play along with. Filler tracks very meh

Familiar with a few songs, like dreams and the chain. Some others I've heard before. Pretty good music, but not one of my favorites. Liked silver springs

Good band. NOt exactly my musical preference, but not bad.

I guess you had to be there to get it. 'Chains' earns it a lot of goodwill, though. Ok, the second half of chains. The ‘Top Gear’ bit. And that skateboard song too. Laidback and fuck. But otherwise, the album is largely caterwauling for a live studio audience.

Fleetwood mac e mid… ändra min åsikt…

Very decent with some great songs. I'm also a fan Lindsey Buckingham's voice.

Very catchy but many of the songs feel a bit undercooked.

Banger after banger after banger! Incredible

A bunch of spiteful and heartbroken musicians came together to make a very pleasant sounding pop album, though I think it is quite far from being one of the best. While Dreams, Go Your Own Way, The Chain sound hauntingly beautiful, I find that the rest sounds too sappy and dumb. Maybe I need a few more years on me to understand the feelings communicated here. Untill then, this is a solid 3/5.
