Love it

Metal Rules!

LET THE CARNAGE BEGIN! Baita riff. Planet Caravan não rolou pra mim. Achei chatona.

A classic. Every song is good.

Iconic

All timer. It’s so easy to hear their sound influencing so much music ever since. Rating: 4.8

As a lover of Black Sabbath, this has to be one of their most iconic album. It hits all the notes from the begining. Honestly all of the songs on this album are stand out tracks. I think War pigs, Paranoid and Iron man are my favourites though.

Heard before: Yes Favourites: War pigs, Planet caravan, electric funeral And back to the 5 star albums that I've already heard before. This was probably the easiest 5 star so far.

Brilliant album through and through

War pigs, etc Classic album

Classic

If hard rock/metal music is a spectrum, stuff like Anthrax is on the far left and this is about as far right as you can get. Izzy’s voice fits well, Iommi is a great riff writer. Lot of good and unique stuff on this. Album cover is hilariously ill-fitting of the tunes contained within.

This is one of the best albums ever made. Period, end of story. I'm a bit jealous of anyone who discovers this record through the 1001. I spent a summer listening to this album over and over...

Probably one of my favorite albums. Two absolute bangers, followed by a mellow comedown track, followed by probably one of Black Sabbath's most famous songs. Phenomenal

Hadn’t listened to this all the way through for quite some time but it’s just very good. While the three big singles are the main ones I remember, it’s really consistent front to back, all eight tracks hit perfectly

Fuckin' wow. There's a Jazz solo at the end of the album? Easy 5-star

Rad album. Never listened to hand of doom before. The end was awesome with the dynamics. PUSH THE NEEDLE IN FACE THE SICKLY GRIN HOLES ARE IN YOUR SKIN

The heavy feel of the songs is something I always enjoy. Great listen

Not single bad song on the album. Incredible stuff.

Already loved it. Blues forward Heavy Metal. Drumming is amazing, thonky and groovy.

There's a bit of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, ugh Black Sabbath is the best. Fairies Wear Boots AWESOME. War Pigs and Paranoid, iconic as always. This is definitely one of my favourite albums ever - Black Sabbath, what an amazing band. The basis for most (if not all) heavy metal music today. 10/10

How can this get anything but 5 stars?

Rhyming masses with masses straight out the gate is something I would usually hate, but here it feels like such a power move. What a glorious album.

The apex of metal.

this album art is so sick. First two tracks are two of the best heavy metal tracks ever. and then we get led into the sexy and seductive sounds of Planet Caravan...phenomenal. THEN IRON MAN TOO LOL. this album is STACKED.

CLASSIC

"Paranoid" by Black Sabbath is an undisputed masterpiece of heavy metal and rock music. Released in 1970, it's a landmark album that defined an entire genre and continues to inspire generations of musicians. Tracks like "War Pigs," "Iron Man," and the titular "Paranoid" are not only iconic but also the very foundations upon which heavy metal was built. The album's production, driven by Tony Iommi's crushing guitar riffs, Geezer Butler's thunderous bass, Bill Ward's powerful drumming, and Ozzy Osbourne's haunting vocals, set a new standard for heaviness. "Paranoid" is a flawless album, filled with unforgettable hooks, dark and introspective lyrics, and a raw, unfiltered energy. Its influence on the world of rock and metal music is immeasurable, making it a deserving recipient of a perfect 5/5 rating. This album remains an essential cornerstone of rock history and a must-listen for any music enthusiast.

Shiiit. What can I say? We’ve got MASSIVE timeless hits here that make up an amazing genre-defining album with political themes that are still relevant today. Incredible. Black Sabbath at their best.

Class, can't believe I haven't listened before

Amazing Album that I can now see why helped kick-start one of my favourite genres. Standouts are: Paranoid, Planet Caravan, Hand of Doom, Fairies Wear Boots.

Amazing, 2 songs saved

First time hearing the album fullely. In my opinion the classics are still the biggest highlights of this project but the other songs have some really good Jazz licks wich dosen't really match with the rest of the album but still decent. War Pigs is a really good opener. Although the rest of the album is not as heavy as some of their other projects, it's still a good indicator of how the sound was developping at the time and shows how it's evolved to what the heavy metal sound is today.

Back2back bangers

Like a greatest hits album but better

Awesome album to introduce someone to it. Clear sound for what it does, and it does plenty, not just fast noise.

Gewoon een ultiem goed album! Vette nummers en genrebepalend.

It's fucking banger after banger. Sure, the lyrics are a little silly; but this doom-driven morose metal music makes me so damn dancey and happy. How about that?

5 / 5 going into this one. Best album by one of the greatest metal bands to grace us with their presence. Has two of my favorites -- War Pigs and Fairies Wear Boots -- along with certified classics of the genre: Paranoid and Iron Man. --- War Pigs is such a jam. The drum breakdowns always get me. I'm also a sucker for anything that can span 8 minutes playtime and finish tight. Paranoid is pure energy. One of those songs that just sprints out of the gate and never loses steam. Then there is Planet Caravan, which pulls the rug out into a tripped out psychedelic journey. Ozzy's vocals are buried in effects that make him sound as though he's speaking to us through liquid rainbows while a bass line wanders along with some bongos. Doesn't really go anywhere, but I appreciate the song no less. Iron Man pulls us back out of the stupor that is Planet Caravan by smacking us in the face with one of the nastiest riffs known to man. Song is fire end to end. Lyrics are wild, drums slay, and of course the frets are on fire. There are some songs that you regret defining a band; this is not the case. I love Electric Funeral. Epitome of doom metal. Love the sludginess and how midway through it just breaks apart into what is effectively a jazz-rock interlude. Rat Salad is a short and sweet little instrumental. I'll never be disappointed when a band gives room for the man to hit the cans well. This also sets the stage for Jack the Stripper / Fairies Wear Boots, which is a great outro to an already great album. So much bass to sink your teeth into, and love the way that the song keeps you guessing during the intro and separating sections. Once again, this is more jazz than metal.

Maybe one of the most iconic albums in history. I can't believe they made this whole album in 3 days and the title song Paranoid only took them like 45 minutes. War pigs is such an epic song to lead it off. Iron man probably had one of the most iconic guitar riffs of all time. Ferries wear Boots is such an underrated song and absolutely hilarious song name. I've listened to this album so many times that it is impossible to give it anything else but a 5

ozzy <3

Amazing album, start to finish

Planet Caravan is stunning, nearly lost my mind with everything else.

A classic.

tremendo album. canciones favoritas: war pigs, paranoid, iron man, planet caravan, electric funeral. 10/10

This was my first time listening to an entire Black Sabbath album, and Paranoid was fantastic. The songs all manage to stand alone on their own, but they all feel cohesive with the rest of the songs on the album. I really enjoyed that there was such a diversity of sounds on this album; not everything had the tempo of the title track, but not every song had the slow heaviness of "Iron Man" either. Black Sabbath really earns their place as founders and pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock. Instrumentally, the guitars take center stage, but the drumming is tight and compliments the guitars perfectly. Hell, I think Ozzy sounds great on this album too, and I know he's not known as a great vocalist. "War Pigs" is far and away the best track on the album in my opinion. With its great guitar parts and politically charged lyrics, it's the perfect opening track for this album, and does a great job of establishing the tone. I've never been into Black Sabbath very much, so I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this album.

Pinnacle metal. If this doesn't get you into the genre, nothing will.

Masterpiece From the gigantic riffs of Tony Iommi to the iconic vocals from Ozzy, the album keeps you engaged throughout and craving more upon finishing. Genius song crafting. Incredible to think it was released 50+ years ago.

Best thing to come from Brum (other than Brum).

For some reason I had it in my head I wasn't keen on this album. Completely wrong. Will be a regular now. I love the heavy stuff but Planet Caravan is a revelation.

100% a classic. This is a total fucking banger.

Fucking amazing album, been a fav of mine my whole life

Knew about Black Sabbath and this album beforehand, so going into this, i already knew it's gonna be a good time. Easy 5 star for me. Just love the sound of this whole album.

Actually perfect. Love this album so much!!!

Dark and ominous, heavy as a hammer. This is the best Black Sabbath album, hands down, with several of the band's best songs. Sabbath somehow managed to create an entirely unique musical language that no one has truly touched, even as dozens of bands have tried to lift their sound over the years. This isn't just music, it's a world building and genre defining sound that has not lost one bit of its haunting power over time. The dark musical soundscapes of Tony Iomi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler... the pleading, searing vocals of Ozzy Osbourne... the surprising lyrical depth, touching on themes like war, drugs and mental illness. This is a total package of a band playing at the height of their powers and the album is simply perfect. Fave Songs (All songs, from most to least favorite): Paranoid, Iron Man, War Pigs/Luke's Wall, Fairies Wear Boots, Electric Funeral, Hand of Doom, Rat Salad, Planet Caravan

this album is iconic for a reason. although i went into this album with expectations to not like it (im not much of a rock fan, although i do like queen) this album impressed me. it didnt fail to catch my attention, something i struggle with upkeeping while listening to albums. the electric guitar was really good in this album. it went from being loud and harsh to soft and mellow throughout the project. an example of this is the contrast between the guitars of ''Paranoid'' and ''Planet Caravan.'' The vocals of the singer were also pretty good. I will do some more research on the band itself, as i am now interested in exploring their discography. My fav tracks are Planet caravan, electric funeral and war pigs. im glad that im starting to open up to some more genres than just hip hop in an enjoyable way. this album is a 9/10

Highlights: Paranoid, War Pigs Leave Em's: Rat Salad Overall Thoughts: Hard rock executed really well. The album doesn't stretch out for too long and contains some absolute gems in its forty minutes. The group demonstrates their musical prowess with long rifts between lyrics and verses which is unique. This album makes me want to drive in a loud and fast classic muscle car which is an aesthetic that has always appealed to me. Black Sabbath like most of this project is before my time but I imagine they would have been one of my favorites if I grew up in the 1970's. Score Breakdown: 4.125 & 5 -> 4.563

Full of tunes, production is brilliant, captures a 'live' sound perfectly. Flew by. Wouldn't really consider myself a black Sabbath fan but that's two five star albums now so guess I am.

Classic. First two tracks are belters, worth 5 stars alone

No notes. Perfect.

I had forgotten just what an AMAZING album this is, its a 5 star from me. Just so tight, bluesy and every moment of the music feels right. Paranoid the song has a special place in my heart, having listened to it just SO many times when my brothers teenage bad Phantazyz would perform it. Thinking back to Steve Ellis aged 14 singing 'Finished with my woman cos she wouldn't help me with my life' is genuinely hilarious to think back on. I didn't think much of it at the time, but honestly I wonder what the adults though at the various gigs they played. Very sweet though. I loved this album, I couldn't help but swing my head whilst listening to it

Chole's right this is an absolute banger.

The doom, the riffs, the distorted vocals <3

Imagine releasing a genre defining debut album and half a year later think: “Nah, we can do one better.” Paranoid is perfection from start to finish and you can still hear its concepts flowing through the genre to this day.

Magnificent. Full of chips. Even the drum solo doesn't detract from the greatness of this album. Loved it.

Toh, 5 stelle sulla fiducia. War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man! di cosa stiamo parlando?!

easily …. EASILY one of the greatest compositions of all time. not only cohesive as an album, with every track being absolutely killer and complimenting the next, but being so memorable in its writing and so extremely influential. this album paved the way for so many bands. every single note is is absolutely iconic. ozzy’s distinct timbre, tony’s unique riffage, and that goddamn bass that throbs like a fat fucking cock. fucking amazing and if you rate it anything less than five you’re so fucking unbelievably dumb.

Grandfathers of metal in full glory. It's not an album I would listen to, even occasionally, but I guess it has to be appreciated for taking a new direction in music, and all of that in 1970. Easily the place in history books is booked. Also, "Paranoid" main riff will be forever used by all 12 year old metalheads when they will first try the electric guitar (not that it's a bad thing).

If anything this tells us that a man can be turned to steel by a great magnetic field, which makes him iron.

Some of the greatest heavy metal ever in my opinion.war pigs-electric funeral is one of the strongest runs on an album ever.Sure the last three tracks aren’t absolute bangers but they’re still good.Tony’s riffs are so heavy and memorable and Ozzy’s vocals are so harrowing.Just an amazing album.Makes sense it influenced so many musicians after its release.

if I don't rate it a 5/5, Ozzy Osbourne will hunt me in my sleep. am I being paranoid?

I am not a huge fan of hard rock and many of the themes in more prog-hard rock such as Black Sabbath displayed a bit here. This is a great album though and absolutely must be heard, even if you don't like heavy rock sounds. Planet Caravan's placement has always bothered me though. Feels like the sequencing slows down a bit too much going into "Iron Man," though that could be intentional.

Often seen as one of the greatest metal albums of all-time, and I'd be hard-pressed to argue. Often seen as their best album (though not personally my favourite), I can't deny it holds some of the greatest, simplest, heaviest rock riffs of all-time. Side A alone has "War Pigs", "Paranoid" and "Iron Man". I needn't say more.

Love it. Only song which was not top notch was Electric Funeral.

The definition of the most distinguished subgenres of rock music named Heavy Metal, particularly "dark-gloomy-sounding" side. Fav Track: Iron Man

This rocks. Pure and simple. That damn bass line travels through multiple zip codes!

I was really entertained by this all time classic metal album, got a few absolute bangers. Although it's a bit lacking, so not an outright 5 for me, but looking at this list, I feel like I have to be benevolent in my "close to a 5" ratings and just hand those 5s out.

What can I say about this album that hasn’t been said before? A pillar in which metal music was built on. To this day, Planet Caravan is one of the greatest songs I’ve listened to and still part of my funeral playlist.

Hail satan, listen to Sabbath! The riffs are revolutionary and the rock is unquestionably badass.

Timeless metal. Remains in the zeitgeist for good reason

Amazing. This rocked.

Big fan.

Easiest 5 so far. Prime Sabbath

one of my all time favorite albums

Genius, 5 stars, no notes.

Fantastic album and has aged really well. Heard Planet Caravan for the first time around 10 years ago and opened up new world of music to me. Returning for the full album has not disappointed - there's a great variety here and every instrument has an opportunity to shine, e.g. the drum fills on Fairies Wear Boots. The driving riff on Electric Funeral might be my favourite but it's tough to call.

Incredible riffs in every song, very catchy, I find it so easy to listen to

Black Sabbath! Their first four albums are all straight bangers with no bad songs. This one probably has the most recognizable ones though.

This was a surprise 5. I knew I liked early Sabbath, but listening to this front to back and giving it a critical ear, I found I was head-bobbing and foot-tapping more than I expected. It barely squeaks into 5-star territory, but overall I think it makes it. A really solid record with a lot of great tunes, plus it's historically important.

Great album, classic, again, genre doesn't do much for me, but can't deny that it is a fantastic album.

The perfect metal album.

Few top songs. Not my favorite band but much better than others 4s. Need to check all albums.

Great another UK rock group. Kidding! I don't remember what my birthday album was last year, but this is a pretty great one for this year. Paranoid is an excellent album with some of Sabbath's best on it. War Pigs/Lukes Wall, Paranoid, and Iron Man are all stone cold classics. Generals gather in their masses, just like witches at black masses...what an opening lyric. Listening to this today, and on my bday, I'm falling more in love with this album. Especially the songs I didn't know as well like Hand of Doom and Planet Caravan. While I would still put their debut above this, it’s nipping at its heels.

It's feels like it's been ages since I opened this website and breathed a triumphant sigh of relief. It feels longer than it's actually been, due to so many non-essential duds lately, but not today! This is our third from Sabbath, and not too far after their Vol. 4 that we had, but this is the one Sabbath album that I knew prior to doing this project. Only eight tracks on this album, and the first four are just unbelievable. An insane run, I had to look up the opening run on Nirvana's Nevermind, I know that is a great one too. That's three tracks, this one wins on volume alone, but also variety. Side B doesn't stand a chance against Side A, but there are still some great songs there too. I think I might slightly prefer the debut overall (which I'm shocked to be saying), but this album is exceptional and proves that Black Sabbath is the real deal. GOATED. Not only do I have it on vinyl, I had a second copy and gave it to Alex. Happy birthday with this one, what timing! Favorite tracks: War Pigs, Iron Man, Planet Caravan, Paranoid, Electric Funeral, Hand of Doom, Rat Salad. Album art: Not as scary as the debut, but still kind of terrifying right? Is this one guy or three guys? Some wacked out knight in attack mode, coming at you through a forest of infinite darkness. I love the color contrast. Fun story: one time in college I got high and listened to "Planet Caravan" while watching the iTunes visualizer, and I bore witness to the progression of life in the universe and on earth, up to and including these sword-swinging infantrymen. Core memory. 5/5

This is what you could call the definitive metal album. Certainly the first side of the records is an abundance of classics with a lot of variation in the songs.

8th May 2023 Listened during the morning on Bank Holiday Monday. Rec with Js and boys and back to theirs for tea. Jen with peanuts. Pizza and taskmaster in bed. Love this - relentless pounding and energy, Ozzy's dark wail's soaring over all of it.

🤟🤟🤟🤟

Excellent

Perfect!!!!!

Satan laughing spreads his wings.

brilliant album, not much of a metal person, but this is fantastic

I had never heard this album entirely, but I'm glad I finally did. It didn't really fit my image of heavy metal as I felt a lot of blues/rock in it (which is probably why I liked it so much). Awesome guitar riffs.

So much for a sopohmore slump! This album should come with a warning that you may end up with a fucked up neck from all the headbanging. The first track just blows the doors off and even manages to rhyme "masses" with "masses" and then the album continues to bludgeon you from then on. Riffs for days, weird lyrics and Ozzy's awesome vocal. I love this album. Best Tracks: War Pigs; Iron Man; Fairies Wear Boots

A classic

I really really dig it

A great album that is such an inspiration. While I wouldn’t give it a 10, a good 9 for me goes here, it just does so much musically and personally

It’s fucking Sabbath

Absolute classic. I love Sabbath so much.

absolute classic, hard to argue.

Oh hell yes!! This is 5 stars before I even spin the record today! What an excellent album to get on a Friday. High energy to bring me into the weekend!! I am very familiar with this record! I've listened to it many times before, and can't wait to listen again. This is another of those rare "perfection on tape" albums where literally every track is stellar!! First off, what an amazing band lineup! Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward!! Ozzy's voice was so unique, and at this time was so strong! The band is one of the few accredited with starting the heavy metal genre. These bands used an almost shock rock approach to their sets by having religious imagery on stage while they played what was called "heavy satanic music". Sabbath was known to burn crosses on stage as part of their shtick, plus they dressed in dark colors. All this hype thrust them into the forefront of music that rebelling teenagers gravitated to. Sabbath's sound was also heavier, spookier, and commonly featured the "tri-tone" guitar note, commonly referred to as the "Devils note". Of course, all of these allegations of satanic worship etc were completely unfounded, it was all just an act, and man the things that this started is insane. I absolutely adore this album, and this band! Just a perfect album cover to cover! I was so happy to see this come up today! I will 100% be listening to this album many more times! Favourite songs: Iron Man, War Pigs, Paranoid, Fairies Wear Boots, Electric Funeral, Hand of Doom Least favourite song: if forced to pick, Planet Caravan 5/5

Pioneers of heavy metal and still arguably the GOAT of the genre. This album contains four of Black Sabbath's most iconic tracks (War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man, and Faries Wear Boots), which make up half of the album. The other half of the record accompanies those classics perfectly. Rating: 5/5 Playlist track: Paranoid Date listened: 24/03/23

Haters gonna hate but Sabbath slaps. Is it dated? Yes. Does it matter? No. It slaps front to back.

This album is an easy 5 for me. You can hear the influence on so many bands and artists. The band show their a great metal band yet also show their versatility, like on “planet caravan”. The whole band is great, but I think Bill Ward is the MVP on this album. Metal has changed in so many ways since this album, but there’s a reason it’s still regarded as one of the greats.

GENERALS GATHERED IN THEIR MASSEEEEEEES JACQUELINE KENNEDY ONASSIIIIIIIIIS This album is flawless. Every song bangs, every idea works, no second is wasted. Here's a fun one for the zoomers in the audience: Notice how the song "Rat Salad" sounds like the "Among Us Drip" song. People who know what I'm talking about are now crying into their pillows.

10/10 - Brilliant album, undeniable classic

Classic and great album. Inspiration for many rock & metal songs to come and lots of songs I love. 9/10

Hard to go wrong with some of the most iconic songs in music.

Amazing album! 5/5

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiet I love Black Sabbath. War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man, Electric Funeral, Fairies Wear Boots, what else do I have to say? Also Hand of Doom is up there with Another One Bites The Dust for some of the best bass lines ever.

Killer album with fantastic everything... vocals, percussion, and guitars all come in so crisp. This album has some of their biggest hits of course and it's such a quick and easy list. Easy five stars. 9/10.

First 5-star review. Brilliant. It starts of great and you’re waiting for the quality to take a dip but it just keeps on going, track after track, of awesomeness. Will definitely listen to again.

Great jazz Influence. Great album to strip to

I listened to this album nonstop on vinyl as a kid. Nostalgic, perfection. 5 star

Absolute peak, band has such good energy. Not a single miss on this album and every single riff is absolutely legendary 4.8/5

Classic

No brainer

Zo veel invloed gehad. Planet Caravan is mijn favoriet.

One of the things I love about Sabbath is how well they move together as a band. They understand the power of starting quiet before getting loud, or slowing down before they pick up the pace again. It makes for great drama. They also love changing styles mid-song. They can shift from charging heavy metal to swinging rock and back. “War Pigs” is a top 100 song for me. Absolutely incredible and I love the righteous anger of its anti-war message. “Paranoid” and “Iron Man” are among the best rock songs ever too. Honestly though, there isn’t a bad song on this album. Amazing all around. This has gotta be the worst album cover for a great album though. Just awful haha — what was the concept? (Wikipedia says the cover was designed when the album was going to be titled "War Pigs" but honestly that might even be worse.)

The first heavy metal band. (Actually I think there was one before them that didn't have a lot of recognition?) This album is so wildly good. Man I wasn't sure if this was going to be a 4 or 5 but after remembering the tracks on it it's an easy 5 for me. Monumental songs that have stood the test of time and will continue to stand the test of time. Iron Man might be the most famous heavy metal song of all time (ok, maybe top3-5). It has one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. Paranoid is also one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time, and one of the greatest electric guitar + bass "back and forth"s ever. The bass guitar drives you forward like a drumset double bass, and the guitar riff syncopates itself wonderfully off of the bass. War Pigs is one of the best metal-album openers ever. How great is that guitar solo that starts around 6:30? It's so emotional! Super underrated tracks: Planet Caravan (The jazz guitar solo at 2:30 is really amazing and tasteful. I don't remember being this impressed by this solo. It really shows how the talent and eclecticism.) My metal friend group used to love this song. It was probably the most-listened to post-smoking-weed song for the group. I think Pantera's cover though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5K_gQLENOs ) Electric Funeral (that guitar riff at 2:20 and subsequent guitar soloing is really A+ rock and roll) Hand of Doom (groove. People don't realize how grooving Black Sabbath are) Faeries Wear Boots (listen to the groove in this one!) I just realized I covered every song on this record except for "Rat Salad" which I don't remember too well. That's really no surprise to me, as this is definitely a 5/5 and one of the greatest albums of all time for me. It's a blessing hearing this album through good monitors + headphones again. It's really been decades since I've heard many of these records through anything other than a car radio. Black Sabbath is just so ubiquitous in playlists of metal heads that you listen to them so much and never want to take the time to sit down and experience them in the best listening-setting possible. And to be directed to do that here is just so pleasant and welcomed. My favorite aspect of Black Sabbath is that they write catchy music. Writing heavy metal music is innately very hard in my opinion- there are specifications that you strive to meet to live in that realm but these can also be seen as limitations. To write melodic music in metal is hard, and to write catchy melodies is one of the hardest things to do in music composition. I really need to plug in my electric guitar and sit and listen to this album and just play along.

Ground breaking album.

Very good driving rock with a tiny bit of 60s influence creeping in there. Classic album. War Pigs, Paranoid, Planet Caravan, Hand of Doom all highlights for me but the whole thing is so good.

I currently listen to this album regularly. One of Black Sabbath's best.

Wow! This was genuinely one of my favorite albums we’ve had to date. Maybe it just struck the right nerve, but something about the amazing mastering with the equally amazing playing just made this pretty magical. I just only wish I could have heard this in 1970 when this would feel even more groundbreaking

this is one of the most groundbreaking albums of all time, and i feel like those albums can go two ways — either they sound a bit tired because everyone following copied them, or they sound incredible. this is easily in the latter camp, it holds up amazingly well today. not much else to say. great album 🤘

This album gets 5 stars because it's dope, period. "War Pigs" (which is what the album should have been titled) and "Iron Man" are legitimately two of my all-time favorite songs. Even with those as standouts, the rest of the album is really solid. I don't know how well it works as an *album* - "Rat Salad" and "Jack the Stripper / Fairies Wear Boots" feel kind of tacked on - but knowing that this came just 4 months after their debut album was released it's pretty impressive they were even able to field an album worth of songs at all, let alone some of the GREATEST RIFFS OF ALL TIME. PRAISE IOMMI, HAIL GEEZER!

This album goes so unbelievably hard. Badass lyrics, beautiful instrumentation, great singing, production, structure, it’s all fantastic. I have no critiques, therefore I must give it a. 5/5

I’ve already this album, it’s one of my favorites

Kaveri haluu aina laittaa autossa.... paskaaa paskaa paskaa paskaa... En ole kuuntelemassa uudestaan.. aina samat mainstream.. biisit.. noh... vitosta.. uskomaton albumi..

I really like this album! I can definitely see why it's one of the best rated albums of all time. I don't really get why Paranoid is the most revered song on here though, but it's pretty common for me to like the most populair song on any given album the least

Start of doom, heavy and stoner metal, this album. It’s still awesome, still utterly mesmerising and listenable.

This one's got everything! Love Iron Man, and the drum groove in Electric Funeral is unreal.

A record full of classics, most of which I could hear over and over. The album tracks are fantastic. A little less sludgy than the self titled, which I prefer.

The birth of metal.

Absolute beast of an album, hard to believe this came out in 1970, feels so ahead of it’s time, a heavy metal masterpiece and Sabbaths best album in my opinion.

I honestly can't think of a metal album that can top Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid'. It is perfection from start to finish. The intro of 'War Pigs' sets the stage. The distortion growls ominously as feedback lurks on the edges, threatening to collapse in at any moment. The bassline dances into the song, muffled but solid, and sort of bounces and lurches around as the guitars snarl on. Then the feedback fuses into growing sirens, all three parts now building to a crescendo. And with two synchronized strums, it all crashes to a silent stop. And that is how the entire album continues. The songs are crafted and molded and shaped into movements that tell a story on multiple levels. Everything working in unison and in harmony, even if the parts are distorted (always) and dissonant (at times). This album honestly changed my understanding of what music was capable of and I completely agree that it is an album that everyone should here at least once in their life!

One of the top rated albums and i'm helping to keep it where it belongs. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 to the band and the album that were there at the beginning. It's like feasting on the finest banquet and drinking a glass of Chateau Lafite. Every track, every note in perfect harmony. Perfection.

Amazing. Like blew my mind amazing!

One of my all times. So happy to revisit.

Fuck yeah

This is obviously an amazing album

What a surprise - I absolutely loved this! It's pretty tame as metal goes these days and I was only 10 so didn't appreciate it, but I imagine it must have caused a real stir at the time.

Essential for anyone, even if you listen or no rock, it's a classic band for anybody.

Love this album

Legendary album, from one of my favorite bands. Extremely groovy.

god i loved it. the sounds, the cohesiveness everything. should listen to it more, only knew the title track.

Mastapiece. Obviously this is just a perfect record, not a lot to be said otherwise. Personally, I find it interesting how little it feels like Ozzy is on this thing. His vocals and lyrics barely registered whereas the true genius in the record is the play between Tony Iommi on guitar and Bill Ward on drums. Phenomenal worth though.

Rating: 9/10 Best songs: War pigs, Paramoid, Iron man, Electric funeral, Hand of doom

97/100

This album is classic. Better than I remembered.

I had previously never listened to Black Sabbath, but from this album I can see why they are a inspiration for many of the newer bands.

Paranoid is possibly the most important metal/hard rock album of all time. From the beginning of ‘War Pigs’ to the end of ‘Fairies Wear Boots’ the listener is treated to music that feels ready to burst out. The songs are carefully structured but the virtuosic elements feel loose and wild. All in all this album feels untamed, fiery, and genre defining.

Idk man!! This album fucking rules!!!! I've heard Paranoid, War Pigs, and Iron Man (obviously) but I've never listened to whole thing. It's awesome.

C’mon. This is one of the best albums ever.

Another one of those albums that can only be a 5/5. Honestly though I'd not heard this album in its entirety, just the usual suspects like Paranoid and Iron Man. Amazing from beginning to end though, and a rightful metal classic. Favourite: Paranoid

How could I not give this classic album 5 stars when it opens with War Pigs and Paranoid? Foundational for so many genres including metal, grunge and stoner rock.

5.0 + Classic. Amazing how the sonics hold up. I love how they overdubbed the guitar lines to make them extra beefy. On “Paranoid”, the dueling guitars add scratchiness to the voicing. The synth sound on “Planet Caravan” gives a strange water element to a dark and plodding atmosphere.

One of the best of all-time. Best track: War Pigs

This has to be the absolute best album of 1970, and just sounds fantastic 52+ years later. It’s an album that I enjoyed at 12 as a foundational rock album, and even sounds more satisfying 30 years later on this listen.

C'est très bon

Incredible album, one of black sabbath besr

I’m gonna get this albums cover tattooed on my body I mean yea it’s real good

I have mixed feelings here. This album is highly influential and enjoyable. It's got "certified bangers" that have stood the test of time. I feel it's somehow a bit overrated though. I'd take the self titled and Master of Reality over it. Plus, I never ever need to hear Iron Man again in my life. Great song, but its been played and parodied to death. I almost want to give it less than a 5, but I can't. Sabbath rules.

Classic , dark and brooding , part of the fine run of excellent albums Sabbath did in this period that didn’t really sip in quality until maybe after Sabbath bloody sabbath

undying classic

It's Black Sabbath.. First 6 albums are all 5 stars. No other band has been an influence on metal and various subgenres for as long as this band.

I forget just how much jamming is in here. I mean it’s heavy, but some of this is pretty bluesy with an occasional dip into… jazz? Or at least in the neighborhood of jazz. The part of the neighborhood where you lock the car doors and go through the stop signs, sure. But nobody sings like Ozzy. And paired with Iomi’s heavy guitar it’s a match made in, well, you know where.

Great to finally hear the whole album. It felt good to hear music that didn't sound like engine noise.

Not my usual vibe but I absolutely loved this album!!

Fantastic album, Iomis guitarwork is incredible, the entire album is revolutionary

Yup that’s a 5. Such a great album.

classic

Having listened to this album hundreds of times and them being one of my favorite heavy metal bands, I knew going in that I would give this album a 5. They are one of the forerunners of heavy metal music and their influence on music is vast and innumerable. Crazy riffs, interesting lyrics, a powerful voice, great drumming, this album and band has it all. \m/

Alusta loppuun taattua Sabattilastua

Aikamoinen startti tälle listalle. 8 hemmetin hyvää biisiä, eikä juuri mitään ylimäärästä. On ne saakelin kovia ukkoja Paras biisi: War pigs Huonoin biisi: Planet Caravan: Ei ollu mun mielestä yhtään selkeesti huonoa biisiä.

Goose like it

You can see all the ingredients and where they came from to make this new perfect thing.

This album is amazing. It was amazing then and always will be. It hits right off the rip and never lets up. Complete classic.

Reading a bit about drummer Bill Ward on Wikipedia: “According to Tony Iommi, he and the band would often set Ward's beard on fire and perform other harmful pranks on him. On one occasion, Ward even received third-degree burns.” “Ward almost died after a prank-gone-wrong during recording of Vol. 4 in 1972. The band were renting a Bel Air mansion belonging to John DuPont of the DuPont chemical company. The band found several spray cans of gold DuPont paint in a room of the house; finding Ward naked and unconscious after a night of heavy drinking, they thought it would be funny to cover the drummer from head to toe in gold paint. Ward soon became violently ill and had a seizure and an ambulance had to be called. The paint had blocked all of Ward's pores, which his bandmates were subsequently informed can be fatal.”

Loved this. Even better than the last Black Sabbath album I got that was on this list.

- Already listened to this before - Certified classic - Not a huge metal fan, but this album is fantastic - WAR PIGS is one of the greatest openers of all time - Fav songs: WAR PIGS, IRON MAN, ELECTRIC FUNERAL

"You can only trust yourself and the first six Sabbath albums" - Henry Rollins Black Sabbath invented heavy metal. Sure, there were precursor examples of heavy metal, but Black Sabbath embraced the sound and made it what it is today. And while their debut album was a good start, it was always the follow-up Paranoid that cemented their legacy. Every track belongs. They're heavy, well-written, and flow nicely. Even with outlier Planet Caravan, it feels like a natural fit in between the noisier sections, giving a sort of dynamic shift to let the sound breathe. Every metal band pays tribute to this band and this album in some way. They have to, because it's the cornerstone and foundation for metal as a genre. There's no denying it.

Where their first album felt more experimental and raw, Paranoid really takes the band forward with a riff-centric approach and a more polished sound. Metal before metal, each song is a jam.

Absolutely xlassix

Ongelofelijk.

Simply brilliant! Liked the long led zep-like tracks. Great solos, great voice too. Brilliant. The inspiring birth of genre. 5/5

Awesome! Exactly what we needed today.

Another awesome album cover War Pigs, Iron Man, and Paranoid are all bangers Iconic guitar riffs through the whole thing Geezer Butler must've had a vision of the apocalypse or something Each instrument is competing to be the lead and they're all winning There's a ballad written straight from Hell Feels like a complete piece of art

This is my second listen of this album. I enjoyed it the first listen but it hit even harder this time. War pigs, paranoid, and iron man are just rock classics. Planet caravan and hand of doom banged. Ozzy sounds fantastic on this. 9/10

It’s dumb and incredible. The second side is better than I remember, more classics

5 stars for paranoid alone

Amazing how it still stands after 40 years, still hits just as hard can't help but headbang

Discazo

Invented a genre

Black Sabbath with their absolute classic album, seriously heavyweight with iconic tracks War Pigs, Paranoid and the thumping Iron Man. The sound is big, the metal is heavy and far from being some dark satan worshiping amorality, Ozzy pleas for peace and humanity. Amazing the scare this album gave people when truthfully, here was a call for acceptance.

Such an amazing album. Loved it all but there’s a clear big 3 that are pretty well known. War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man. I can’t imagine listening to Iron Man in 1970 when it dropped, had to be crazy.

Classic.

Top 5 album. Amazing heavy metal album.

What an album!

Loved it, listened to it while mountain biking. Have listened to this one before as it is a classic but good to get the jams going again.

It's impossible to rate it with less than five stars. Simply one of the most influential albums in music history and essential to creating my taste for music. Nowadays, I'm much more eclectic in my music preferences, but heavy metal is in my veins, and this album is the main reason for it!

4.5 stars. One of the seminal, early metal albums for a reason. Standouts "War Pigs", "Iron Man", "Paranoid".

Much as I hate agreeing with general consensus, this album is fantastic. Can't fault it, and it's always an enjoyable listen. Sabbath tends to be overrated by metalheads and classic rock guys, and the rest of their Ozzy catalogue would only be 3s or 4s (Heaven and Hell will get a 5 if it's here), but Paranoid is just THAT good. 5/5.

This was the first Sabbath album I ever listened to and where metal really clicked for me for the first time. I may prefer "Master of Reality" by a smidge, but this is definitely their most iconic album, and a major breakthrough in the creation of heavy metal as a genre. I absolutely love how derpy the album cover is too.

Actually may like their debut more, but this album is too influential to give anything less than a 5. Really don't think there's a bad song here.

War Pigs AND Iron Man? Hell yes!

Embarrassed to say this was the first time I have listened to a whole Sabbath album. Forgive me, for I have sinned!

What the fuck is Planet Caravan?? I had to make sure I didn't somehow skip to the wrong album or something. Did not see that coming... Continuing, 3 of the songs on this record are flawless. If you like any rock bands from the from the 90s, these tracks are probably their inspiration. 3 of the most iconic songs of a generation. As an added bonus, you get Hand of Doom which is pretty great too. Then Rat Salad kicks your ass after that. Look, here are songs that were topping the charts in 1970: "Bridge Over Troubled Water" "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" "Let It Be" Going over to your stoner buddy's house and hearing him put this on was probably like getting plowed in the ear by jesus and satan at the same time. I can imagine why it would be lifechanging.

Hell yea

I mean. This is one of the greatest albums of all time. Just so fucking good.

Gotta admit that while I'm familiar with the album's three most popular songs ("War Pigs," "Paranoid," and "Iron Man," obviously), I wasn't familiar with the album as a whole. Now that I've listened to it in its entirety, I can confidently say that it's about as solid as a rock album gets. It's hard to beat Ozzie's vocals and Iommi's guitar-playing prowess (and Butler and Ward aren't exactly slouches, either). If I'd heard someone say, "Yeah, we're starting the album with an 8:00-minute-long song," I'd have thought they were crazy. Don't you usually throw something that long into the back end of the album to make sure you don't lose people right off the bat (huh-huh)? Not if you're Sabbath, and not if that song rocks as hard as "War Pigs" does. And then immediately following that up with "Paranoid," and "Iron Man" two songs after that? Fuggedaboudit. Those three tracks alone make this album well worth the price of admission. "Rat Salad" is a throw-away track as far as I'm concerned, but the rest is top-notch, especially "Electric Funeral" and "Hands of Doom" (the latter of which I've officially fallen in love with). Old school metal doesn't really get better than this.

I only went as far as the first six albums of Black Sabbath, but the first four of those are already stone-cold masterpieces for me. The thing is, out of those four masterpieces, *Paranoid* is probably my least favorite as a whole album, in spite of its reputation. Because apart from "Planet Caravan" and its hazy atmosphere, this record is maybe a little too one-note and "basic-sounding" for me. *Masters Of The Universe* and *Vol.4* have far more dynamic tracklistings, which makes them an even more enjoyable experience for my specific ears. That being said, *Paranoid* is also a historical record, marking the true birth of the whole metal genre. I love the eponymous debut, but the latter is still hard rock, basically, i.e. blues played and processed though overdriven guitar. In comparison, it's clear that *Paranoid* goes beyond all that. And inside that historical album, "War Pigs", "Iron Man" and the title track are rightly considered as timeless anthems. So I guess I can't give this one anything less than 5 stars. Number of albums left to review or just listen to: 858 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory: 78 (including this one) Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 35 Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more important): 30

Perfect

A literal life changer. The kind of album that sets you on a musical road forever. It is chock full of iconic tunes. Black Sabbath created like three genres on this one.

Five stars

Amazing And just plain kicks ass.

Crazy good. Would love to have been around when this came out. I’m sure it blew people away.

In sold already. No need to serve up more Sabbath.

Loved this. I don't know much of Black Sabbath other than the rock radio hits. The guitar riffs all over this album fucking RULE.

Wow. What an a-side - so good that an actually amazing b-side gets lost - but if you start an album with War Pigs, followed by Paranoid - Planet Caravan and Iron Man - it’s hard to follow. But a perfectly packed punch of an album - definitely worth the score.

Wegweisend

Has everything you could possibly ask for. 8 songs in just a little over 40 minutes. Incredibly heavy riffs - fast, energetic, sometimes suddenly powerful - propelled the heavy metal genre influence in a new direction, serving as the primary influence of the creation of thrash and doom metal many years later. It's accessible, not just because its top hits have been cemented in pop culture, but because the riffs are simple and catchy, the vocals are clear, and the lyrics cover easy-to-understand, engaging topics of apocalypse and destruction. Production and mixing are well done: everyone can be distinguished and sounds good. Drumming gets their shine in the last two tracks.

If War Pigs, Paranoid and Iron Man are all on the same album, it's five stars.

What a great album, timeless, and still rocks hard. Planet Caravan is great, just wish it was 3 minutes longer.

It might have a much stronger first half than second half, but that's still a five from me. The first 4 tracks are bostin'. Fave track - "Planet Caravan" is a chillout track of epic proportions! "War Pigs" for the more standard metallic fare....

Every song* has at least 2 legendary riffs. Great understated drummer, great bassist, Ozzy Osbourne. It’s a testament to how great the seventies were that one of it’s best albums was released so early and it still didn’t slow down. *not Planet Caravan. Still a great track

Absolute perfection. No ifs, ands, or buts. If smoking and tripping is all that you do, look no further.

Izvrstan izvrstan album

Ne smim ja dat prva četiri albuma black Sabbath manje od pet jer ću ostat bez kuće😄

Bless this album, bless this band.

Featuring some of the most memorable riffs and drum fills in heavy metal history, Paranoid is nothing more than a relentless, balls to the wall masterwork. And to believe that this is Black Sabbath's second record! They continued to define and refine what would be the heaviest and most impactful genre in rock and influence many bands in their wake.

Clearly Side B doesn't keep up with Side A, but that's hard to do when you're trying to keep up with War Pigs / Paranoid / Iron Man. This is a 4.5 for me, rounding up today.

Black Sabbath's diamond among a pile of precious gems. Has some of their greatest hits as well as so many fantastic deep cuts, and was instrumental in bringing the idea of heavy metal to the minds of the world. Amazing.

Keep it going Sabbath. An album with the most popular songs still hits all the features of the group that I love.

\m/ Fuck yes. I've loved this whole album since I bought it from a BMG catalog when I was maybe 13. Had no knowledge of who Sabbath was or how influential they were. Just thought it sounded cool based on the description. So much of what I love now wouldn't exist if it weren't for this band. Goddamn they are so good

An all-time kickass classic. This album takes other albums out behind the shed and kicks their asses, and they give thanks that Black Sabbath paid them attention.

The singles are of course top tier but everything else rocks just as hard. Electric Funeral and Rat Salad especially were great.

I love this album! It is the coolest.

Gostei.

Black Sabbath is such a misunderstood band. While a ‘Black Sabbath’ is indeed a satanic reference, the band was never really about satan. There’s only a couple of references to satan on 'Paranoid,' and even then, it’s certainly not celebrated or glorified as 21st century Black Metal bands do on their recordings. Shame the band wasn’t more appropriately named Black Doom or Monsters Of Destruction, or something of that nature. OK, now that that’s out of the way… I have been listening to 'Paranoid' ever since it was released in 1970, my first introduction at the impressionistic young age of eleven. Even then, I immediately knew the opening track was concerning the evil nature of the ‘war machine.’ I furthermore surmised this not be a critique of war, per se, but the profiteers of war, particularly at the expense of the poor who are treated ‘just like pawns at chess.’ It’s a great image. And when satan does make his appearance at the end, ‘laughing, spread(ing) his wings,’ it is to enact God’s merciless judgment on the war pigs. As this scenario is completely void of grace, I don’t think it’s particularly good theology; still, at least they got the satan/God relationship right. The hasatan in the Hebrew Scriptures was not a forename, like Anton, but a title (‘adversary,’ ‘accuser’) indicating his role as the heavenly prosecuting attorney arguing, in this case, for the conviction and sentencing of the war pigs. God is the judge (this is not a jury trial), and therefore passes the final judgment. This idea is found throughout both testaments, both Hebrew and Christian. Again, it’s not the complete picture, but it is an accurate representation of the book of Job, for example. I wonder if the Christian religious right ever really read Black Sabbath’s lyrics? The rest, and vast majority, of the lyrical themes on Paranoid cover the kind of things one would expect on a 1970 LP: the Vietnam war (‘War Pigs’), the dangers of drug abuse, which vocalist Ozzy Osbourne unfortunately became all too familiar with himself (‘Hand Of Doom’), global destruction from atomic bomb radiation fallout (‘Electric Funeral’), even modern psychiatry (‘Paranoid.’) And some wonderful sci-fi songs like ‘Planet Caravan,’ and ‘Iron Man.’ By the way, who exactly was Iron Man anyway, and what put him in the grave in the first place, and how was he resurrected, and why was his sole purpose to wreak vengeful havoc upon the people ‘he once saved’? He sounds an awful lot like Jesus’ evil twin. Or, I guess if you’re a Monty Python fan, Jesus and Brian’s sibling triplet who went terribly rogue. Finally, ‘Fairies Wear Boots’ isn’t so much in the fantasy literary genre so much as it is an LSD inspired vision, as the last verse reveals. My point is that its quite a range of subject matter, and again, you will not find a one of them praising evil. Quite the contrary. 'Paranoid' seems to be about cautioning youth about the deadly nature and consequences of dancing with the devil. Which, of course, is the very stuff of sermons and liturgical prayers one may find in a worship gathering on the Christian Sabbath. Now lets’ talk music for a moment. I don’t think I’ve ever previously considered that these blokes were every bit as talented on their respective instruments as the members of fellow hard rockers Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix and the Experience, Cream, The Who, Rush. I mean it. Guitarist Tony Iommi is a rock god, just blazing away on super sonic lead solos on almost every song, even delving into a bit of tasty jazz guitar (accompanied by piano and congas… on a metal album!) on ‘Planet Caravan.’ Of course, he’s mostly known for one of classic rock’s all time most famous riffs- ‘Iron Man’ – his signature heavy, heavy power chords. (Every kid I knew, including myself, learned this and Deep Purple’s ‘Smoke On The Water’ immediately upon learning how to tune our guitar strings.) Geezer Butler gets this uniquely crunchy(?) kind of sound on his bass- he must have been playing with a pick- and meanders up and down and sideways and around that fret bar like a kid on a swing set trying to arc up and over the top bar. And drummer Bill Ward with his relentless driving drums of doom. Most of these songs were birthed from improvisational jams which is clearly heard in every song. Then, for the cherry on top of the hot fudge sundae, the infamous Ozzy Osbourne. His sneering vocals are a perfect fit for the head banging thunder his mates hurl down. How can you not love this guy when he sings in a particularly nasty manner on ‘Electric Funeral’: ‘Turns people into clay, radiation minds decay!’ This is a kid you would love to be friends with on the school playground but loathe to be the teacher of in the classroom. Sabbath ain’t what you think. Unless you think their mighty damn awesome. And then you’d be right.

So do I write a review with hindsight or do I write the review I would have written as a 12/13 year old, nearly 50 years ago. Because I remember hearing this the first time. War Pigs was like nothing I'd ever heard before, and the rest of the album kept me enthralled. It still does. Some of the lyrics are trite, but it's a sonic masterpiece.

It's THE classic metal album, definitive. Always in rotation in my house.

Vraiment trop hot cet album. Ca donne le gout de rocker 5

All six first Sabbath albums are absolute classics in my book.

Masterpiece of stoner rock, nothing less. Keep 'em coming!

Classic Rock, no doubt it's in the book.

To produce instant classics like Paranoid, War Pigs and Iron Man on one and only album is a miracle, or is it genius? Tony Iommi absolutely deserves the "riff master" title after this one. Every second of this masterpiece is worth it. Black Sabbath will always be one of the best metal act ever.

Amazing metal album

A classic, takes me back to being an angsty teen. Ozzy's vocals and iommi's guitar is a truly legendary mix

👹👹👹

PERFECTION! This is the only way to describe this album. I've lost count of how many times I listened to this already. Favorite tracks: * Literally all of them, but if I need to choose three: * War Pigs * Electric Funeral * Paranoid

perfeito

Amazing. Full of hits

This was a great album. I've listened to a few albums on this list that lost a star or two because they added too many songs. This one is a little short but at least there's no filler garbage. (Turns out the title song was actually written as "filler" but it is far from garbage)

Listened on February 26th 2022. Absurdly relevant to this crazy Russian invasion of Ukraine times were living in. Fucking meaty. Pure anger. Love this album

It doesn’t get better, heavy metal peaked here

Amazing. I was blown away by how good this record was. This album has been on my list for a while, and I’m glad that I listened to it. Will be buying this if I see it at my record store.

Early Ozzy !!! Iommi blazing the guitar on "War Pigs". Geezer's base just cranking out on Paranoid. Beautiful, soothing guitar picking and congos on "Planet Caravan". Raw raw power of "Iron Man". Song just does not give up; increasing in intensity all the way to the end. And "Hand of Doom". Just a great, driving song in every way. Sad lyrics, but that goes with the times (Vietnam, heroine). Simply a masterpiece. Hands down my favorite song on this album. "Rat Salad" devotes time to Bill Ward. His drumming is perfectly adequate, but this one just does not excite. Wrapping it up with "Fairies wear boots" ... "cause smoking and tripping is all that you do". hoo-rah. Absolutely classic album.

As good as it was decades ago.

Great rock and roll album with many classic songs. Some filler but does not disturb the flow.

Classic. War pigs, paranoid, and iron man are right up there with the best rock songs. Amazing to think it was only a few months since their debut.

A masterpiece. You can hear the future of metal in this.

Hugely influential epic doom. Not their best album but still awesome and crushing.

This album is absolute insane

Awesome. Further comment superfluous.

the perfect early metal album, almost flawless except it feels too slow in places. paranoid was the second song i ever learned on guitar so it has a special place in my heart. favorite tracks - war pigs, paranoid, iron man, planet caravan least favorite tracks - hand of doom

Amazing album from to back.
