All the songs really do sound the same but still a really good album

No puedo bajar de puntuación un disco de AC/DC por debajo del 3, pero aparte de Highway to Hell no he descubierto ninguna canción que me interese.

If you like good ol classic rock its hard to go wrong with AC/DC. The great thing about AC/DC is if you have one of their albums you pretty much have all of their albums. There is a formula there and they are sticking to it. Is this an album you must listen to before you die? God no, you've already heard it a million times or one of their other songs that for better or for worse are pretty much the same. Im clicking 3 stars but honestly its a formulaic 2.67.

Maybe just behind Back in Black as an album, but with the same appealing flair & flavor to it.

Always have been a one-trick parody band.

Overall not a bad album! The first song was certainly my favorite/best on the album.

A classic but not really to my taste

Great riffs, great hooks, but most of the lyrics make me cringe so I’ll balance it in the middle. 5/10 Favorite tracks- “Highway to Hell” “ If You Want Blood”

Acdc found a sound and stuck with it

All about bombastic energy, and they do it well. They have the formula for arena anthems for sure. I found my attention drifting towards the second half of the album. They are classic for a reason, but the dose probably needs to be less than an entire album.

ACDC was never really my thing, so while I appreciate the quality of the music, it's not something that I enjoy listening to.

AC/DC is one that I never really clicked with. I mean I like the music but it’s not exactly like there is a lot to dig into. I enjoyed this album and like a handful of songs but it wasn’t exactly a revelation and my relationship with this band is exactly the same as it was. 3/5

Did not fit todays mood.

ACDC - you know what you're getting. High energy Bluesy rock. All much of a muchness.

A lot of AC/DC lacks variety for me I never get tired of the song "Highway to Hell" but the rest of the album is just, AC/DC. Pleasant if you like them but no other highlight songs for me.

Absolutely straight up AC/DC. No nuance, no nothing. All rawk. I enjoyed it.

It is a classic, what can I say.. a little too repetitive for my taste

It has always been unclear to me what AC/DC are more like - Status Quo, or a shitty Hair Metal band, but without the makeup. What is clear is that they only make very silly formulaic rock. How much mileage you get out of this directly corresponds to how much you dream about fiddling with women. This, and any DC album, is essentially a Carry On movie in musical form. Do you like a solo? Hmm, I have a big one. Matron! I'm an Aussie and I like the bush. Ooh Matron! I bought a nice packet of biscuits, I just need to unsheath them. Matron! Would you like to CUM around and 'ave one? Oooh Matron! Have a little nibble, my dear, or maybe even a suck. OOOOH MATRON! I have made a mess in my pants.

Really loved Brian Johnson’s voice on the first AC/DC album i got on the list, so curious to see how the OG lands… …Well, that is how you start an album. And your last one at that! 😮‍💨 and just the classic AC/DC, 80s rock sound. Fierce, sharp and full of heart and groove. Think I still prefer BiB (should have given it a 4* btw) but still a great sound and record. Get the gist after a while, but still lands well (3.5)

Like the Ramones without any gimmicks and a double dose of sleaze. Overall it makes for pretty fun straight ahead rock and roll. 3/5

Their sixth album. Rock. Brilliant intro and first track. Highway To Hell is a classic Rock song. After that it is all a bit same, same over and over again. However it's a solid Rock album and AC/DC doing their thing. I prefer Back In Black though.

These guys put Australia on the map back in the day but after the kick-ass opening title track this record kinda falls off in my opinion. All I'm saying is if Highway To Hell is on this here 1001 list then Back In Black and maybe even For Those About To Rock both better be on this mother fucker then, too.

While it lacks the massive commercial footprint of Back in Black, Highway to Hell remains peak AC/DC—a masterclass in high-voltage economy. From the instantly recognizable opening riff of the title track to the swampy, blues-drenched finale of 'Night Prowler'—where the lead guitar bleeds out with the soul of a tenor saxophone—the album is a relentless, lusty romp. Between those pillars, the structure is admittedly formulaic, leaning on predictable verse-bridge-chorus transitions and key shifts. Yet, this rigid framework is exactly what allows Bon Scott’s vocals to shine; his whiskey-soaked snarl acts as a third lead instrument, dancing dangerously amidst the swirling Young brothers' guitars and the band’s commanding, metronomic backbeat.

AC/DC is probably too ingrained in my commercial psyche to review adequately. Like Highway to Hell is good, but it’s so culturally built in rock that it’s almost like listening to a windex commercial. It is good for what it’s worth, a bit one punch but to the point with their sound.

the singer is iconic obviously, the rest of the bands music feels alightly elementary, but i understand their success

I’ll probably never listen again but I enjoyed it

Hell yeah, brother

Didn't hate this as much as I thought I would, although I'm 3 or 4 cans deep. Maybe I only like classic rock with a 0.09 BAC. Fell down a mad Wikipedia wormhole while listening to this. Go check out Brian Johnson's website if you want to be transported to a pre-javascript internet

This is so fucking overrated

1 stern

I think with AC/DC you know what you are going to get. Fun but not essential. Great guitar picks. “Highway to hell” and “beating around the bush” were best for me.

Some hype classic rock. It was cool to hear more of their catalog. Every song was so AC/DC, but not in a bad way. Shot Down in Flames and Night Prowler were highlights.

Can't get over the boys voice. Like a parody of what a rock singer should sound like. Great hooks but overrated

Not bad! Sometimes, what a person needs is a hard rocking album with driving guitar and lyrics that are not that deep. The songs do get repetitive and Bon Scott’s voice can get annoying after awhile.

As an album it’s a 3.5 with a few standouts and the being ho-hum tunes. Back in Black is the standout album.

Very good at making very dumb music. I wouldn’t have led with the title track—everything afterwards pales in comparison. "If You Want Blood (You Got It)" was the only other one that really stood out. But it’s decent hard rock and it doesn’t drag too long.

Honestly pure fun. C'mon, it ends with "shazbot, nanu nanu." Such a cool album cover, too. A solid, enjoyable listen.

Synes musikken er kul men litt treg til tider, det er vel sånn den stilen er. Ville nok ikke spilt noen av sangene igjen på nytt. Favorittsang: "Beating around the bush", kanskje? Også likte jeg godt gitarsoloene i "Walk all over you", de var veldig bra, selv om resten av sangen var også litt treg.

Not for me...

Much more like Foreigner than I’ve ever heard AC/DC sound before , half these riffs ain’t hitting dog.

Fun! Listened on Halloween as well so that was cool. Not my favorite but I can appreciate for what it is. Classic.

Great album but some songs felt really repetitive 6/10

Surprisingly good/ok.

Sorry, inte min grej. Älskar soundet men det är lite för "party rock" för mig. Samma takt och lite för glatt bara

Guess they perfected their sound cause all songs sound pretty much the same. Can't complain too much about pop-rock music, but it doesn't sound like anything groundbreaking. Easy listening, might have been revolutionary if it was written 10 years earlier. 3/5.

this is like, THE AC/DC album, right? I won't be revisiting this album, but i guess I'm glad I listened to it. If you want Blood reminds me of Empire Records. that was the stand-out track for me.

Har ikke det helt store at sige om det her album andet end at det var et sjovt rock album. Ikke ligesom alle de andre synes jeg. Jeg kunne komme igennem det og jeg følte mig underholdt 6-7/10

Well, it's AC/DC, isn't it? TIL that they were originally Australian. Last one with Bon Scott too, how little did I know... Night Prowler was the highlight for me. Great energy on the album in general, but not exactly my style overall. 3.6/5, rounded down.

It's pretty good for what it is. I'd give it 3.5 if I could. It sounds a bit dated, for sure.

Another classic bunch of AC/DC bangers. Hadn’t heard most of the songs on this album before, but of course I had heard them before because they all sound the same. A great if predictable time.

Classic

I have respect for AC/DC but they're not really for me.

Absolutely massive title track and album opener. For an AC/DC novice it's hard to not compare lesser known tracks to the iconic hits. They have a whole vibe on this album that emanates from track one onward. We can talk all day about angus and the purity of the guitar tone, but are we gonna talk about how awesome the drums sound? The groove here is undeniable. Angus is standing on the shoulders of giants and he does so with swagger, but that rhythm section is making the rock possible. I must mention that I am in a band with one of the biggest AC/DC fans in Chicago, who also plays in a tribute band called TNT Chicago. I am primed to either hate or love this, and I fucks with it hard. Pure rock about rocking or being on the way to rock. And rocking can mean two things, rocking or ROCKING. Rocking the bed, rocking your mind, rocking all the time. I'm probably not gonna return to this album all the time and individual songs dont hit like the one and only, but there's nothing bad on here. Fav Tracks: Highway to Hell, Touch Too Much, Beating Around The Bush, Shot Down In Flames, If You Want Blood,

General Thoughts - Had this on CD as a kid, used to play it in my moms car - Already familiar with the bangers on here. Notably the title track, Girls Got Rhythm, and If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It). Blood is easily my favorite, what a fucking banger. One of the only AC/DC songs I’ve listened to on my own time in recent memory. - AC/DC is pretty awesome bc they’re not reinventing the wheel ever, you know exactly what you’re gonna get everytime and I think that’s a feature as opposed to a detractor. I do think Bon Scott has a bit more personality than Brian Johnson. - if I didn’t know this band was from the late 70s and you told me this was a satire band I would’ve probably believed you. The lyrics service the song but are hilarious. - makes me think of old dudes with Peaky Blinder Hats that who call the waitress “honey”. - being the drummer for this band would’ve been a dream job. Dude plays the exact same four on the floor for every song. That being said, the drum production is old school and awesome. That snare pop hits like a Marlboro Red. Track by Track - Highway To Hell: Name one self respecting person that doesn’t know this song, you can’t. - Girls Got Rhythm: headbanger, such a well constructed lead riff for the verse parts. Lyrics made me laugh. - Walk All Over You: angus phoned that solo in. - Touch Too Much: Bon Scott is a horny mf - Beating Around The Bush: interesting intro riff, at least this one sounds different than everything else. Angus is laying the same solo down on these I stg. - Shot Down In Flames: skip bc this is the exact same song I’ve listened to every time. - Get It Hot: skip bc I’m over it - If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It): **JT ACTIVATOR ALERT** Easily best track. Feels like an awesome song for a bar fight. Love Hungry Man: Skip Night Prowler: Skip

Not the biggest AC/DC guy, but better listen than expected. Simple song structure, simple riffs, great guitar tones, and a whole lotta horny lyrics. Hell yeah

Highway to Hell, the titular song on the album is familiar and fun. AC/DC was one of my father's favorites, yet somehow the only song on the album that I truly recognize is the first. I liked Shot Down in Flames. Night Prowler was interesting.

cannae beat a bit of ACDC - Ally McCoist

Lots of bangers, lots of fun. The songs are quite similar and there isn’t too much variation in the album. The quality of the songs and characterful nature are just about enough to justify this. I probably wouldn’t choose to listen to the album as a whole again, as it’s quite samey. But love the energy, vibes, and fun. So much character comes out of the raw set up of essentially guitars, bass, drums & a hell of a voice.

Даже не знаю что и сказать) не воспринимаю всерьез этот альбом, как и ас дс в целом. На всякий случай переслушал - нет, мнение не изменилось

Not their best album but still some bangers sprinkled in

They need Jesus

Yeah it's a slab of classic rock etc etc, but I can take or leave it

Enjoyable if a bit rinse and repeat.

-,-,-,- sainpas kuunneltua. muutama päivä kesti

One of the greats! But not their best.

strange to listen to now only a couple of memorable songs

repetitive beyond belief, but still a decent album.

ok c'est acdc quoi

Best line from this album comes from the 'Onion:' Man Listening To 'Highway To Hell' Actually On Parkway To Waukegan. AC/DC is just all right to me. I know Ohioans love AC/DC; one radio station that did a Memorial Day countdown had soooooo many AC/DC songs. I can have enough--this album is just ok (and the title track is overplayed). Top tracks: "Highway to Hell," "Girls Got Rhythm"

That’s some kickass rock, but better than when it came out. Great twofer to open it up, then the songs get pretty similar. Say goodbye to Bon, no man is irreplaceable. (2.85*s)

AC/DC is not my fave classic rock band but they do have some kick ass tunes. Highway to Hell is not bad but doesn't have any of my top songs. The title track is ok and the rest follow a standard formula...simple guitar riff, screechy lead, and hook in harmony. I didn't know the lead singer was ever a different guy than Brian Johnson. The Angus family is stacked with music legends with members of The Easybeats and Flash & the Pan. Having AC/DC in their legacy is not a bad at all. I expect a few more records from this electric band. I liked this album enough to give it 2.65 stars.

Yep that's definitely AC/DC. While I enjoy some of their hits I've never been into the rest of their catalog. They have a formula that they stick to, which mostly works but for some reason just never wowed me. I know they are beloved but I've always considered them just OK. I found myself enjoying Highway to Hell through most of the duration. It's a pretty effective execution of their formula. It's got all their signature hard rock sounds with some good guitar work. Bon Scott is in typical form wrangling lyrics about sex and hell as expected. While I know he is beloved but I've never been big on his vocals (nor really Brian Johnson's for that matter). By the end of the album I was over it and ready to move on. Like I said I enjoy a couple of their hits but I've always found the rest of the catalog to be just OK. Highway to Hell is probably their best album and a good outline of what they bring to the table. It's certainly worth a listen. I get why people like them and they are relevant in rock history but I've always just been lukewarm on them. 2.66 stars

Great music, super juvenile lyrics.

me lembra meu ensino médio, logo, tenho muitas memórias boas quando escuto ac/dc. só não vou dar 4 pq gosto mais do back in black. 3,5.

hmm another 70s hard rock album that doesn't do it for me. 3 Heard before? 1 song Owned: No 16/1001, 16/63 (25%) Will I get? No

It's okay, I'm just not too big a fan of the band.

‘She has … a body of a venus with arms.’ This lot dont get enough discredit for their lyrics.

Solid with some iconic belters, would listen again

6.5/10 Highlights: Touch too much Highway to Hell

Þessi plata er basically Highway to hell tíu sinnum. Síðasta lagið samt smá fínt líka. Highway to hell er samt gott lag þannig að níu svoleiðis eru ekki slæm.

It's AC/DC, so it's going to rock. But it's not nearly as good as Back in Black. I just kinda wished I was listening to that album.

Première moitié de bonne facture, avec beaucoup d'énergie et quelques classiques. Deuxième plus terne, plus redondante aussi – mon éternel problème avec ce groupe.

Not really my type of music tbh. The guitar is insane but it doesn’t sound that complex. Like ik it’s really hard to play it just doesn’t sound that cool 😭 the songs don’t have enough dimension or emotion for me. Fav song: walk all over you

This album is definitely the kind of thing that would be enjoyable on a road trip or something like that, but doesn’t really feel that interesting when you actually listen to it. The guitar riffs are fun, the singing is pretty good, but it all feels kind of empty. Most of the songs feel pretty static and don’t really make up for that with more interesting instrumentation. Standout tracks: Walk All Over You (Honestly the only track I specifically liked) 4/5 deserves to be on this list

Iconic

excellent instrumentation, couple of great songs, most were mid

Every song sounds the same.

6/10 - classic album, just gets to a point where it begins to sound the same to me

3/5 Great album!

It isn't necessarily their best album in my opinion. It still has that raw energy that AC/DC is known for.

This is completely unvarnished, utterly brainless cock-rock. Which should be an automatic thumbs down from me, but for whatever reason I find AC/DC more charming than, like, '80s hair metal or Led Zeppelin—even though it's SO MUCH dumber. (The rapey vibes of "Night Prowler" aren't great though.) I'm pretty sure it's just because I like Angus Young's playing.

Solid AC/DC album. They never really disappoint--AC/DC is anything if not consistent throughout their career. Some people bash them for this, and I get that, but there is something to be said about steadiness, I guess. I don't know a ton of these songs well, even though I'm decently well-versed in the band, other than the title track, obviously. There are a couple other bangers here, sleeper tracks. This is probably heresy for Bon Scott fans as this was his last album before he died, but I like the subsequent Back in Black better than this one. 3/5

I liked the volume. It was hard to hear the vocals at times. 5.5/10

What an opener. The top review comparing this to chocolate ice cream and every bite being the same is spot on. I don't think it deserves a 4 though...it's supermarket branded ice cream. 3/5.

нуу, норм, но я не фанат. (не знал что раньше был другой вокалист)

A bit of harmless fun.

Harness is right. It all sounds the same.

Hope you like the sound of the title track because the rest of the album sounds just like it! It’s a great sound but does tire over an album

Nice album but AC/DC is a one-trick pony.

AC/DC is not my thing

Never listened to a full album before, and I now know why. It´s the same song they play, all the time! It´s a good song though!

2.5 stars

There are very few examples in rock of bands that can really only do one thing, but do it so well it doesn't matter. I'd say that list is The Ramones and AC/DC. AC/DC is a band that I'd probably say isn't really "my thing" and yet I'm always surprised at how much I enjoy listening to them. This is a fun album. Nothing really jumped out at me, but it breezed by. Standout Track(s): Highway to Hell (duh), Shot Down in Flames, Get it Hot

ого... и правда это было скучно

A lot of people claim that all AC/DC albums sound the same, and I don’t think that’s entirely fair, but I do think their albums all more or less go for the same thing. Consequently, I feel like most people really just need to fall in one with one AC/DC album, and brush up on the other singles. My go to is Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, but I am probably due to give the other Bon Scott albums a listen. Honestly, I don’t remember being crazy about Highway To Hell, but I liked it well enough this time, and I feel that it does what a good AC/DC album should. The AC/DC sound kind of feels like a hard rock archetype, and that sound is reflected here. It’s all here: the sleaze, the energy, the muscle. And honestly, I think AC/DC’s best songwriting trick at this time was just how simple a lot of them were. It was kind of like they tapped into the same thing that makes a perfect pop song by writing material so immediately and effectively catchy. This is probably seen clearest on Highway To Hell, which is about as ubiquitous a song as they come. And while I won’t say the songs *quite* sound the same, they all do kind of tap into the same space. If you like some of this album, there’s a good chance you’ll at least get something out of all of it. And I could have some fun the whole time, but honestly, for me, I do still think they have stronger collections of songs. But take my opinion with a grain of salt, this is a favorite for a lot of people.

Good fun that wears a little too thin…

Some great, some shit

As middle of the road as rock music comes.

Ihan ok kaljanjuontirockia, 3/5

3.2 I'll start by saying ACDC are massively overrated. This was more bearable than others though. Angus' vocals just get a bit much after 1 song never mind 10. The songs are too formulaic also, about 6 of these songs could easily blend into 1. Still, some of the solo's are banging, and on a mix tape a few of these would be worthy additions. But I was glad when the album was drawing to a close.

Fun but in one ear out the other

After days and days of dark, somewhat weird music, I was excited to get some simple fun in the way of AC/DC. While it's not an album I'd listen to regularly, it was definitely a blast to listen to, and something I will probably go back to when I'm in the specific mood for something that just plain rocks. Even the less hype songs still have a lot of energy, and really pumped me up!! I'm going to give this a 3/5--not a masterpiece, but still really solid, with no bad songs or moments.

I wouldn’t call it good, but it’s fun

не совсем мое, но приятные воспоминания из детства. подойдёт для мальчишника или фильма с адам сэндлером, или ехать в грузовике. альбом крутой но ваще не мой вайб

Title track is way overplayed. Touch Too Much and Shot Down in Flames are the best songs here. I do prefer Bon Scott over Brian Johnson but Powerage would have been my choice for AC/DC albums.

High three great classic rock album

Classic rock radio ruined ACDC for me. It's rudimentary, boring rock and roll. They created a blueprint that a lot of other bands expanded on. And they definitely have their place in rock history. But I almost never intentionally listen to ACDC anymore. I don't listen to this just like I don't eat vanilla ice cream on purpose. Why do that when there are so many good flavors and toppings out there? I mean, I'd rather vanilla over nothing. Just like I'm not going to hate ACDC. But it's basically my last choice.

Best leuk hoor, vooral de titeltrack natuurlijk, maar het klinkt allemaal hetzelfde. Echt elk nummer.

It’s actually incredible how much they manage to do with such a narrow palette

Fine, carried by Highway to Hell

Classic

It's a fun album to air-guitar to.

Why has the guy furthest to the left on the album cover got such a big head?

I really like a lot of AC/DC but other than the title track here, this album is not their best stuff.

Years ago, I had a dream I was riding a golf buggy on the motorway and blasting ‘Highway to Hell.’ Can confirm I’d like to do that in real life too.

Fande bei "Walk all over you" die Gitarren Parts ganz cool. Insgesammt so 3/5 Sternen. Man kann es mal hören aber ich würde es nicht auf meine Playlist packen.

My first time listening to an entire AC/DC album. Yep, it sounded like AC/DC. They have a sound and they stuck with it. It's fun and energetic and definitely has its place.

*Strong album, but everything kinda sounds the same. *Didn't realize ac/dc is Australian. RATING - 7/10

Hey, another album I’ve listened to before. I only need to hear this album once instead of my usual twice. If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure this is the second Australian album to reach my ears. I’ve always liked that my country is home to one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, though there’s a little bit of a complication: I don’t like hard rock. As an avid music lover this has, naturally and understandably, instilled within me a crippling sense of malaise and existential dread. In any case, I’m always down to give this album another go. Yeah. I mean, it’s AC/DC. Highway to Hell is a good track – very iconic. I can’t think of another song which is more emblematic of the hard rock genre. It may or may not be sacrilege, but I view Touch Too Much as the best song of the album. I enjoy the punchiness that the songwriting and vocals have, as well as the many kickass guitar riffs. Good song. Beating Around the Bush is a solid follow-up. Again, the punchy guitar hooks make for a nice listen, and I especially enjoy how the vocals harmonise with one another around the chorus. If You Want Blood does well to revitalise an (admittedly) weaker second half, and Night Prowler is a solid send-off with a sweet guitar solo. There’s nothing like an album closer being the longest track on the album, which works especially well here with how the song continually ups the ante. I came away with a dramatically improved opinion of this album, which is quite surprising. I guess trying to articulate my thoughts forces me to view these albums in a more favourable light. I’m gonna read the book entry for this album cus I love my country. Breakthrough album. An influence on metal. That’s about it, really. All things considered this is a solid pick. Massively successful and a representative of its genre. What else could you want from this list, really?

On s'tanne vite hein? Rendu à Touch Too Much c'est pas mal comme ça que j'me sentais. 2.5 étoiles

Highway to Hell is obviously a classic track … but not enough here to push it to a 4. Back in Black is better.

this is just kind of .... solid. every song is the same but not in a bad way?? idk.

This band is like Taco Bell: Same 4 ingredients, dozen different combinations. Instead of tortillas, cheese, beans and meat, AC/DC works in a medium of parties, fighting, booze, and chicks. You have to admire a band that knows their strength and stays in their lane. No, they’re not going to win a Michelin star anytime soon, but hell, sometimes a quesadilla and a burrito really hit the spot.

3.25 / 5 While I prefer Back in Black, I think this album has some great jams and the guitar work is always fun to listen to. I think you could play this at a summer party with old dudes (myself included) and it would probably be a safe bet that people would enjoy it.

This get a little tiring after a while

Highway to Hell was fun. The rest of it was similarly high energy, but nothing else really stood out. This one is a high 3 star.

Nae that bad

I used to like this album when I was in middle school, but I haven't enjoyed ACDC since a guy from college I hated made me play the drinking game "Thunderstruck" where you drink every time they say Thunder. Anyway, I came in planning to pan it since I've always considered AC DC to be the Bud Light of rock, but look, there's some aspects of the album that are good. The production is clean. The music is simple but driving. The lyrics are pretty dumb, but Bon Scott can sell. It's still Bud Light, but a beer is a beer. Still not a fan, but I can't give this lower than a three in good conscience.

Highway to Hell a classic and easily enjoyable. The rest all sound pretty similar. Totally fine

It’s a classic of the genre but I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen

I was surprised to only really know one or two actual songs but since they all sound the same it didn’t make a difference. I’ve never been a huge ac/dc fan even though it was often played in locker rooms before practices. It was fine.

Sounds really cliché and slow now, hard to imagine what it would be like listening to it originally but must have made an impact

Classic album. Repetitive after awhile. It’s good to listen to individual songs but not all together.

A lot of the songs on this album sounded the same. I got bored halfway through.

Pretty good, title track carries album hard though.

A couple of classics, but I never realized how much the rest of AC/DC's catalog sounds pretty much identical to each other. They're not bad, but they're not great. As an album, OK.

Pas pire. Pas pire écoeuré du gros rock itou.

A lot of it sounds very similar, but it is good fun. A couple of the songs shake it up a little. Highway to Hell is a classic. Struggling to choose a rating as I did enjoy it, but I think I would get bored very quickly with how similar it is. Settling for a 3 because while the energy is good, I can't see myself putting the album on again. Fav song: Highway to Hell Least fav: Love Hungry Man

A lot of it sounded pretty much the same to me, not necessarily bad just the same. Favourite: Highway to Hell Least: Walk All Over You

I stopped drinking and smoking then my interest in ac/dc waned. Think there’s a connection?

High energy. Don’t love the womanizing undertone of some of the lyrics but definitely surprised me that I liked it better than I thought I would.

10 or whatever times the same song.

Is this band consistent, or one idea run into the ground? Either way, I guess this is the one to hear. I was not expecting a Mork from Ork reference at the end of Night Stalker. That did not age well.

This was a 2 but then my son started dancing loads to it and it was lovely so it gets an extra one.

I feel about this album as I feel about Back in Black. Namely, some deceptively simple yet iconic hooks, with a great stadium sound, great rock vocal, but the occasional tendency to drop into the formulaic rock n roll riffing of ZZ Top, despite an evident lack of pretension. I am not particularly interested in coming back to this album, the way I might Back in Black. Title track sure, and 'Love Hungry Man's is a treat. The rest is very proficient, and they have hit upon a sound that they could exploit for several more years.

Not as beloved for me as High Voltage, but still fun. Got pulled over for speeding once while blasting Highway to Hell, so I’ll always giggle at that memory.

Higway to hell is pretty good atleast, don't like ACDC tho. bon scott much cooler than brian Will I listen to again: 19%

I always found AC/DC an interesting phenomenon. On the one side, they can be fun, real fun. On the other side they are repetitive and boring like hell. If there is one group on the planet that is repetitive, then those hard rock minimalists. Highway to hell is no exemption. Individual songs are fun, the record as a whole never gets full rotation. It took me years to finally have listened to all songs and simply use it as a repository for one or the other song if I am to listen to them. It is their best outing, imho, but nonetheless....

Not something I would ever listen to again but I can respect it

Eh… not my fav AC/DC album. This is last with Bon Scott, first produced by Mutt Lange, but I don’t really love most of these songs. 3 great songs: 1. Night Prowler 2. If You Want Blood 3. Maybe Shot Down in Flames In general, I live AC/DC. If I was at a live show I could listen to them play this album back to back to back. As a singular listening experience these days… it’s a touch too much.

Title track is always fun. Girls Got Rhythm is not bad but his terrible voice was distracting. It sounds like he's trying to sound hard but not quite getting it? Same on Walk All Over You. The rest of the songs are fun - nothing crazy standout. Sidenote - had NO idea they were from Australia so that blew my mind!

There are some bangers on this album, but it is also pretty repetitive. I might return to this someday, but that also depends on my mood and the occasion.

This is a pretty solid album. Maybe not their best, but definitely not their worst.

It is a classic but don't feel like listening to the entirety of it ever again

6/10/ Sure why not lol

Some big hits but sounds too much the same.

Good, but not up to the standards of back in black

Not for me, but i will maybe play it one more time

Not the biggest AC/DC fan this was fine though

Well, it sounds like AC/DC alright. Ten big dumb slabs of ‘classic rock’, some of which are fun and irresistibly sing-along-able, and some of which are neither but somehow sound like the ones that are anyway. Definitely not as many bangers as Back In Black.

I feel like AC/DC figured out how to write one song well, so they did it over and over again changing almost nothing. By the end of this album I was definitely ready for something different but do have to give them credit for defining the sound that is undeniably theirs.

I had this before joining the group and my thoughts remain the same now, so I’ll just copy and paste them below: I don’t always listen to generic hard rock, but when I do, I want to listen to the legends of generic hard rock Editing this because I wanted to add some more thoughts. I feel like I have done a disservice to some bands by only knowing their greatest hits. The best example of this is David Bowie for me. Going into this project I only knew Ziggy Stardust and his greatest hits, but I did a deep dive into his back catalogue after listening to Blackstar and he's now one of my favourite artists with Blackstar being my favourite album from the project thus far. I can't believe the music I had missed out on! However, I don't feel the same about AC/DC. They're a perfect candidate for a greatest hits album. All the tracks sound pretty similar, so just give me the best of the best; you're really not missing much by only listening to the greatest hits. Favourite tracks: Highway to Hell, Beating Around the Bush, Night Prowler

It’s fine. Not a lot of hits. I knew what I was in for. Went exactly as expected.

came in expecting to be a hater but i quite enjoyed it

It's AC/DC. What more do I have to say. ⭐⭐⭐1/2

Good, but not my favorite AC/DC

You know how sometimes you hear a great song and think, wow, I sure hope the rest of the album is just like this! but it's usually not, because the band wants to explore styles or have a bit of variety. Not so with Highway to Hell - AC/DC knows what they're about and that's exactly what they're serving up for 41 minutes straight!

Look, they have like 2, super maybe 3, different songs. The most common is really good. The other on is really bad. But the ratio of good to bad is like 10:1. Two duds on this album (the last 2). But the really good aren't great, so in the end, it's a 3.

Listening to AC/DC always makes me feel like its 1984 and I'm 20 years old partying at my friend's parents' lake house. And I love that for me.

Good record, even though I only know of one song. Still, a good one.

Die Songs sind sich schon sehr ähnlich. Aber es war nicht schlimm.

There's a lot to like here with the overall sound, but it comes off a bit repetitive to me.

I think my hottest music take is that I think AC/DC is probably the most overrated rock band ever. Let me be clear: I don’t hate them. I like some of their songs and they can be very catchy at their best. But they are repetitive as hell. Every song consist of some verses and a chorus that consists of repeating the title over and over again. And the songs will always be about rocking, fucking, and rocking while fucking. And every dad loves it and every granddad loves it and every classic rock station will play AC/DC a hundred times a day. It’s tiring. I give AC/DC this though; this is one of their best albums and it is the swan song of Bon Scott before his death. But I mainly mean that about Side A and Love Hungry Man on Side B. Those are songs that have the best energy and kick the most ass, which it was the band strives for. The other songs are the typical AC/DC stuff: repetitive and samey. Like I said, I don’t despise AC/DC. It’s just not for me and I’d rather listen to a majority of other rock bands from the seventies. But this is an iconic album for most people and it is worthy of at least a listen, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Or not. I’m just some rando on the internet. Don’t take me too seriously please. Favorite track: Highway to Hell (it’s catchy) Other hits: Girls Got Rhythm, Touch Too Much, Walk All Over You, Beat Around the Bush, Love Hungry Man

Some iconic anthems... mixed with some tolerable tracks. But still AC/DC deserves there flowers, nonetheless.

So very repetitive

6/10 It’s a solid album. I like AC/DC alright never been too too into them. This is a fine album with obviously a generational banger. Not much beyond that for me though

"Hold on, hold on, Bon, you know in Shot Down in Flames you start by singing "Out on the town - lookin' for a woman"" "Yeah, what are you getting at?" "Wel,l in the next song on the album, Get it Hot, the first line is "Goin' out on the town - just a me and you." "That's right." "Well maybe people will think we're a one trick pony if we're just yapping on about going out on the town over some head bopping blues rock riffs." "Nah mate, in the first one I don't have a woman YET, but in the other one I've already got the woman, so it's completely different." "Whatever, roll the tape..."

Ok. Great title track single, rest of it I can take or leave as I can with most of their output.

It was ok. Couple of nostalgic songs for me but feels a bit repetitive

I used to love AC/DC when I was a kid, but I feel like that's definitely faded in time. Still, there was something nostalgic about these riffs and Bon Scott's scratchy wails.

When I’m listening to this during work, every song sounds like Thunderstruck and I get college PTSD - in this instance it’s a 2/5 I’ll give this the benefit of the doubt: If I were cruising my honda civic with the windows down on a sunny day it would be much better. Hypothetically I would give it a 3 or maybe 4 depending on where I’m driving. That being said this album does nothing to move me in any way and I will not revisit! I like the lame ass ZZ Top album better as a replacement 2.5 rounding up to 3 for Highway to Hell

I really do see how this was bad ass and cool when it came out. This album was “life changing” for my dad, just doesn’t hit the same anymore. Great guitar, great attitude, great songs, just heavily out classed by like 62 other bands that came decades later. Love highway to hell and beatin round the bush. Beatin round the bush is like if Van Halen was a good band. Lots of “didn’t I already hear this one?” to the point where the autoplay at the end of the album ran 3 more songs of theirs before I realized the album was already over.

This album reaffirmed my thoughts on AC/DC. Not good. I guess I can understand how they would have been hype back in the day, but they are just super boring to me. I've never really been excited when any of their songs comes on. The ONLY time I was excited to hear AC/DC was when Thunderstruck would come on in college and it gave me an excuse to guzzle alcohol faster than I was already doing. That song isn't even on this album. I'm giving this a weak 3 just because of their influence and popularity.

I think I'm just going to give hair and glam metal a standing 3/5 from now on. Yeah, yeah, AC/DC aren't hair metal, but AC/DC->NWOBHM->Def Leppard->sunset dtrip bullshit->Motley Crue, the lineage is there. Anyway 3/5 it rocks but in one specific way that doesn't get very interesting after the killer opener. Shazbot Nanu Nanu.

Decent album, expected more from it’s legendary status. By the end of the album the songs do begin to sound very samey unfortunately, and I would peg this down to the lack of melodic creativity. The energy is good, but I feel it lacks the fullness of what came to follow. Happy however to have finally listened to the full album front to back!

It's AC/DC alright. Never did like the lead singers voice, but the music bops. Thought Night Prowler was a good tune then Wikipedia said it was the "Night Stalkers" favorite tune and now I wonder what that says about me. All in all it's an ok album. Not my favorite from them though.

One friend said it's like 45m of the same song. I'd have to largely agree about all AC/DC albums. Some classics in here of course, but overall nothing thrilling to me.

This album rocks. But it would made a better soundtrack than it would an album to listen through straight. Go on a road trip, pick the track to match the setting, and you've turned your life into a rock and roll music video. A classic that sets the tone just right.

ACDC has the groove and the feeling, an awesome album but man those solos are almost all the same

Stereotypical heavy metal music. Very smooth sound. Sounds exactly like you expect it to sound. I enjoyed listening to it (on headphones) but it was nothing special.

3/5 all the songs sound similar, but it's a catchy rock and roll sound

Highway to Hell is a brilliant song. Rest are ok 3/5

Not as good as Back in Black, but a classic

Better than Coldplay

Not AC/DC fan at all. A lot of their songs are repetitive and IMO boring. But I can't lie their sound is distinguishable and you know what you're going to get when you listen to them. Their influence on so many other bands is huge.

I liked the girl's got rhythm. I wasn't really paying attention to the latter half, but I don't think the album made a huge impression on me overall. I do, however, understand how it's a classic for so many rock fans.

It was ok. Highway to Hell is an an obvious classic. I found the album all a bit samey. The one note is a good one, but one note nonetheless. I could probably reach across the entire AC/DC discography and compile one truly kick ass record...maybe a double even. I guess those are called greatest hits records, aren't they.

Just not for me. I get the artistry, the solos are sick, production dialed in. Can't quite get past the vocals and the subject matter I guess. I'm all for agressive music, i listen to a ton of it. It's just that this specific album is seemingly all sex lust and violence towards women as objects, which is a turnoff for me personally and doesn't make any of these an anthem for me. had no idea about their history and the loss of the lead singer

One of the best & original ACDC albums.

Pretty good. I enjoy the lead vocalists tone a lot, it feels in harmony with the band (similar energy, range, etc.) Also in regards to my criticism of the stevie wonder project having a massively popular song tucked in the middle of it, this project starting with a song that I'm already familiar with help to set the tone for the project which stayed largely consistent throughout. Still not exactly my genre of music, but as far as rock goes for me there is a lot here for me to enjoy.

First listen. One great title song and the rest is pretty standard fare. Just not varied enough for my tastes. An ok listen.

I don’t always listen to generic hard rock, but when I do, I want to listen to the legends of generic hard rock Favourite tracks: Highway to Hell, Beating Around the Bush, Night Prowler

Again, nice but highway is a bit overwhelming for my life at the moment. Music is a bit of a magical escape but rock is making the paradise look rather fiery. Alt rock seems ok tho

Screamy vocals are never going to be appealing to me, but I have to admit- this was super catchy! 🥲 I think I get why the AC/DC are so popular! Album rating: ⭐⭐⭐1/2

Never was much of an AC/DC fan, but at least you know what you're getting. This didn't disappoint.

Very decent bluesy rock & roll. I wouldn't call this metal (despite the squeaky vocals). I don't think this aims at being the climax of musical creativity, but it's fun and good at what it is.

good album but the songs are all very similar

Ensformigt

Sounded like phil collins on one song. Does the album end with someone saying "nanu nanu?

Fun like all AC/DC songs but I think one of their albums would be enough for this list.

It has a couple of classic songs: "Highway to Hell" and "Girls Got Rhythm". The rest of the album is OK. Interesting that this was Bon Scott's last album, and our other AC/DC album this week (Back in Black) was the first album with Brian Johnson, and also that their voices are kind of similar. Also interesting to read how Brian got the gig: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClassicRock/comments/17nwv3o/the_story_of_how_brian_johnson_became_the/

Liked highway to hell. Others were ok

Just ok.

It’s not bad but they repeated this sound for 50 years now. So it’s nothing special anymore.

if it was 1979 and i heard this freak's voice singing about being on the highway to hell, i would understand why people caused the satanic panic

No Back in Black but i love the trade mark sound of ACDC the stops the riffs. I even like later albums rock or bust for example.

It’s AC/DC; you know what you’re going to get. They do it well.

I have outgrown this type of music

I enjoyed this

it’s AC/DC you get what you expect, it’s fun for a couple of songs and those songs are great but it runs out of ideas pretty quickly.

To be sure, all the songs give the same vibe as highway to hell so it’s a good vibe, but I had a hard time picking any out cause of that. definitely an album I’d have to listen to again to find my favs

as soon as you hear the title track you know exactly what you’re letting yourself in for. A non-stop attack on the heavy brain cells not my cup of tea but definitely worth a listen.

This is seriously impressive how they managed to make every song sound identical. Something with the mixing of rock in this era makes everything mushy to me. It's okay. Not sure how Highway to Hell was picked as the hit over any of the other songs here.

I listened to this a couple times so I could pick out my favorite songs, but they all kind of start to sound the same. Wailing guitar, screeching vocals. This music almost feels like a caricature of itself now, but this was the OG, the real shit. I actually enjoy it though. I’d put this album on in the Summer by the lake when I’m trying to make friends and score free beers from the Gen X bros next to me.

Ight - few good songs but otherwise just kinda the routine rock album.

This is the AC/DC said father listens to (see S&M by Metallica Review) while drinking in the garage at 10am on a Saturday as the kids watch the Incredibles inside. I still love the title track, mainly because it annoys my Mum. Besides this, I don't understand how you can enjoy this kind of music once you give it more than 43% of your attention. There was better rock music available at the time, and better has come out since. I also think AkkaDakka didn't cram anything else in this album to be well known for. In other words, this is one of the AC/DC albums ever. Like I say, some people shop for music like they're buying a new car or house, others shop for it like they're buying a new kitchen spray & wipe.

The title track carries the first side, if not for musical merit then for the fact that every Australian has this song burned into their neural pathways. On a genuine musical assessment of this album, it is okay/good. Touch Too Much is really the only other song here I would go out of my way to listen to. On a cultural assessment, the impact that this band and album have had on Australian rock scene really can't be understated. Were it not for this album, Supercheap Autos around the country will fall silent. Jokes aside, it is a good album but you're really here for the title track. The rest of the album blends together in a samey, but enjoyable mash of noise. Highlights: Highway to Hell, Touch Too Much

AC/DC was my favorite band when I was about 9. I listened to a few of their albums, but this wasn't one of them. It's alright

Solid rock album that doesn't try to invent the wheel, at times it's really good(The title track), but there's not enough variation to keep me engaged on it. 5/10

I’ve never cared for AC/DC, and honestly, I still don’t. They write infectious hits, sure, but quite frankly, they’ve always struck me as a very boring band. Highway to Hell is often hailed as one of their best, a rock ‘n’ roll staple that helped define the genre, but to me, it’s a pretty bland and uninspiring listen. Let’s start with the positives. The title track is undeniably a banger. Straightforward, punchy, and designed to get stuck in your head whether you like it or not. The production is clean, the riffs are tight, and Bon Scott’s vocals have that raw, rebellious edge that fits the music perfectly. Tracks like Shot Down in Flames and If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It) carry a fun, devil-may-care energy that makes them easy to throw on in the background. I can see why people love it. It’s built for stadiums, built for blasting at full volume, and built to be simple, effective rock music. But that’s just it. It’s too simple. Once you’ve heard one song, you’ve pretty much heard them all. The formula doesn’t change: big riff, basic drum beat, Scott’s raspy voice delivering lyrics about women, drinking, and rock ‘n’ roll. Rinse and repeat. There’s no real dynamism, no depth, nothing that really grabs me beyond the initial “Oh yeah, that riff’s kinda cool” reaction. By the time Love Hungry Man and Night Prowler roll around, I’m honestly just waiting for it to be over. I get the appeal. If you love straight-up, no-frills rock, this is a classic. But for me, Highway to Hell is just another AC/DC album: functional, predictable, and ultimately forgettable. 3/5.

6/10 Killer lead single and a serviceable Hard Rock album the rest of the way through I guess. Would work much better if you were drinking and smoking at a bar in the 80s but I’m too lazy to build a time machine. RIP Bon Scott, sucks you had to jinx yourself like that like I would’ve written a song about winning the lottery or something instead but fuck it bro its your life

Confesión: fuera de Highway to hell, se me hizo súper aburrido, cosa que ni de lejos me esperaba.

Run of the mill AC/DC

3/5 classic

👌🏻

harte kost, dieser hard rock. aber mit dem eröffnungsklassiker Highway To Hell und dem AC/DC-typischen sound geht die zeit im nu. nicht so mein geschmack.

I really liked it as a teen, but I’m totally over it now

The title track is a generational banger, and I like it as much as I did the first time I heard it. However, the other songs here are kind of more of the same but have less energy, less memorable lyrics, slightly worse riffs, and slightly worse solos. It's a really fun first listen, but the tracks just blend together—not a lot of replayability here. 7/10

ну одна песня ничо и все

Forty-one minutes of pure joy (except maybe for the creepy last song). A perfect antidote to the shitty weather and shitty news. I'm so used to hearing only the hits on the radio, so it was nice to listen to the entire album.

The backbeat could use a few more change ups every now and again, but Angus rips and Bon was giving it his all.

This album starts strong and rocks pretty solidly the whole way though, though the end hits different given my penchant for true crime.

I get why somebody would like this, it’s just not my jam.

Way better than Back in Black - it's still turn your brain off pub rock, but is far more adventurous

First listen. My father was fan of these people. I have only really listen to Back in Black, although I have heard the title track (of course). Not bad, not amazing.

Yeah unfortch jane was right. Pretty mid rock and roll, with a classic sound though. But none of the songs are particularly memorable besides title track.

Of course know Highway to Hell! However the rest of the album sounds similar to me to appreciate the album as a whole.

I get why this was such a big deal, but it's a bit tedious

The songwriting is a bit Spinal Tap...

I know a handful of the famous AC/DC songs. "Highway to Hell," "It's a Long Way to the Top," "Thunderstruck," "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Back in Black," "Hells Bells." You get the idea. So when this album came up, I thought I'd be in for a trip down a track list like that one. I wouldn't say that ended up being true. I actually felt like I have the same kind of gripes with this album that I have with a lot of metal albums - it's too high energy for too much of the time. More than that though, I feel like AC/DC was kind of a one trick pony in some ways. Searing vocals from either Bon Scott or Brian Johnson, sick guitar riffs and solos from Angus Young, and a pretty standard song structure. The lyrics are never anything to dig into, but if you're coming to AC/DC for the lyrics, you're in the wrong place. The songs, I'll admit, blend together after a while. They all kind of sound the same. And that's disappointing. I said they're a one trick pony, but that one trick is pretty good. How they made a career off of it isn't really surprising to me - the music is far from bad, and it's entertaining and fun to listen to. I can't imagine what a concert was like in their heyday. But as a musical experience, it's repetitive and simplistic. But I still had a great time and it deserves three stars for the musicianship alone. Standout Tracks: Highway to Hell, Girls Got Rhythm, Night Prowler

Most well known song of this Hard Rock album is "Highway to Hell". Unfortunately the rst of the album basically sounds the same.

Great riffs. Somehow not hitting the same heights as Back in Black for me

7/10 not something I usually go for, probs wouldn't add any to a playlist or to my liked but can appreciate that they're all pretty solid songs ! no massive weaknesses, maybe slightly repetitive/hard to differentiate but that might just be me not being familiar with the genre

More historically significant than sonically interesting at this point, but not a bad listen at all. Just a bit samey.

echt nicht so schlecht Alles klingt zwar irgendwie gleich aber es ist halt nicht langweilig (No BOP tho)

Straight forward, classic AC/DC. Night Prowler reconnected the album to blues roots, was a nice way to end it

I genuinely think this is the first time I’ve listened to one of their albums. Largely as I’ve never been very excited by them (Thunderstruck intro aside). Same applies to this album. On paper it’s a slam dunk, they have some great riffs, a decent vocalist and bags of positive energy. Yeah they’re ‘heavy’, however, somehow it just always seems a bit lightweight to me. Maybe it’s the staccato nature of the guitar, or the fact the drums and bass always seems a bit basic and secondary to lead and vocals. It’s also one of those one paced albums, and Nightcrawler is quite a blessed relief of a slower song at the end. It’s just all feels simplistic and not meaty, yeah that’s it, it just lacks any great nuance and is decidedly unmeaty. Mystery solved, but I’m sure it’s better experience live and pissed up.

I'm not sure what it says that I cannot pick up on the difference between Bon Scott and the next guy's voice. Now I've had back in black and this so I should be able to right? Or can everyone just kinda sing like taht in Oz if they want? Anyway, ignorant fun rock. Good riffs from big Malcolm the true wizard of this band. Interesting story of them hating Eddie Kramer and getting on with Mutt Lange two names you see all over classic rock. Also interesting connections between them and the easybeats, a truly legendary aussie band.

I like AC/DC but his voice is so unique and so is their style that to me their songs kinda blend into each other.

Really fun album with a great sound but it all sounds very similar

AC/DC falls in the same category as other bands from the late 70s to the early 90s for me. I call them 3F bands, because all their songs are about one of three things: fightin', fuckin', or foolin'. That said, I tend to enjoy riff-based music over masturbatory shredding, so Malcom & Angus' style of songwriting resonates with me way more than say, Van Halen's. This is a classic album, but it does get a little samey (like all AC/DC offerings). Easily a solid 3 stars, probably a 4 just for the classic title track. Impossible not to at least slightly bob your head to this music as you are driving to your office job in an SUV drinking coffee from a thermos.

One trick pony but it’s a decent trick

Not really my bag! But I can respect it.

Great artist; wrong album

Man oh man is the title track a towering banger. AC/DC is good for that. Unfussy and raucous hard rock. Listening to 'Back in Black' a while ago primed me to enjoy this previous album more. I still don't capital-L Love it, but I did have fun. Maybe I just like Bon Scott's voice more? Rest easy.

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would, the songs did get a bit repetitive after a while though.

Überraschend gut

I’m not in the mood to list clichés about AC/DC. In my opinion, the album is good, though quite monotonous. Then again, so is the whole band. Their musical formula is undeniably simple and repetitive, but at the same time, it’s their trademark – the riffs, the rhythm, and the voice of Bon Scott (for me, Bon Scott has always been the real one).

AC/DC is kind of stupid, but kind of cleverly so. Four to the floor and riffs and licks that all sound vaguely the same - and are immediately identifiable as AC/DC. Oh, and they're making sure to hammer home the chorus. Again. And again. Touch too much (which I'm assuming is about premature ejaculation) being the one that really stuck with me here - half the song was just that phrase repeated. I've turned off other stupid rock shite and given 1 star for it, but somehow I never felt like turning this off, although I'll never listen to this whole album ever again. Because... Why would I? Still... Better than KISS by several light years.

Feels like I'm listening to the same song over and over again.

Right from the beginning you could tell this was an AC/DC album, not only from the first track, which it's probably their most famous song, but because throughout the album the songs have that AC/DC sound. I don't typically listen to rock but this is the kind of rock that I find enjoyable.

Solid classic rock album but just too damn overplayed.

I don't think I can, in good conscience, give any AC/DC album more than 3 stars, even though no one has done what they do better than them.

sounds like ACDC to me
