Kinda repetitive but still good

Definitely some cool fun tunes but they’re all too bloody long. I was loving All My Friends and Us v Them but after a while even though I enjoyed them so much they just felt like they were never going to end. Seriously, cut each of these tracks in about half and they bop, but otherwise for me I’m sorry but they really overstay their welcomes. (2.5 stars)

Sound of silver, more like sound of gold to me

This was an okay listen.

Franchement pas mal la musique de konbini

It was ok - nothing groundbreaking but an interesting listen.

This was quirky and catchy enough to get me to like it a little.

You could probably watch the excitement vanish from my face as the album continued. I was really into it at first but as the track list progressed, it became more and more dull, ending with the most boring track. All in all, I could see myself liking this more if the band kept up the energy instead of using annoying sounds halfway through. Best songs are Time To Get Away and North American Scum. 5/10, so middeling.

👍🏻

8 - LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver - Rating = 3 Get Innocuous definitely sets the tone… slow layer building electro track. Right when it gets a little too same-y, another layer comes in to liven things up… good intro track. Time to Get Away brings the vocal keeping with the building groove, keyboards… they’re good at this building. Nothing American Scum continues the jam… this is okay but just okay, gets long, but thickly layered at the end. Someone Great is a nice change in groove if not totally, but good. All My Friends starts with a repetitive keyboard noodle that goes on by itself for over a minute and is annoying after 30 seconds. The same noodle repeats through the song… it’s annoying. The vocal is nice, but I can’t get past the keyboard. Us v Them gets off to a building jam and has a nice groove evolving, this is a good jam… eight and half minutes is a little long, but I dig it. Watch the Tapes is cool. Good vocal and catchy. Sound of Silver is a driving vocal, bass-y groove underneath, drifts a bit as it goes, a little long at 7+ minutes. New York, I Love You - different vocal piano track… it’s nice and a good ender… definitely different without any electro elements. Overall - this is a good album of the time and groundbreaking in many ways. I like it. I don’t love it, but it’s definitely an important album.

I'm seeing this group in concert this summer and I'm starting to suspect I will be the only person there who never really got LCD Soundsystem. Maybe that will change but this 3 star review will last forever.

I always love LCD for the first half of the song, and then the game becomes figuring out just how patient I am. Ran out of it more often while listening to this album, although of course it still bangs

IT was OK

This music wasn’t for me. I don’t think it was bad. I just don’t think it’s good.

I just liked one or two songs... the rest of it sounds pretty basic to me, sounds like the artic monkeys or any 00's - 10's "alternative" band.

I only know one song!

Great electronic album

Fun indie dance music. North American Scum and All My Friends are highlights. 3.5/5.

Interesting album. Enjoyed but didn’t love

Groovy.

First impressions: well, it’s interesting if nothing else. The actual instrumental, awesome! The vocals? Well, not my favourite. The first track, Get Innocuous, was this almost to a T. I appreciated the vibes, but this was background music to me. I enjoyed Time to Get Away slightly more. It at least felt like it had a reason for every decision made. Following on from this, North American scum was a good time! The lyrics were quite good and it had a nice groove to it. Someone great reminds me of the Terraria soundtrack mixed with Metrics “Now or Never Now”. I genuinely loved All My Friends. Us v Them was really not my thing. I don’t think it’s bad, I just liked it less. Watch the tapes was solid. The title track again, was alright, it just wasn’t my thing. I was not expecting a piano ballad, but New York… gave it to me. I usually love good piano ballad but I couldn’t get into this one. It was also so out of left field for this album. There were bits of it I liked, 3/5 ⭐️ 50/1089

It’s ok

More like sound of midver, got em’!!! Nah but this album I was actually kinda excited for and it wasn’t that great in my opinion. 9 songs 56 minutes is a little bit of a grind!

I like the retro-electronic dance sound, but many of the individual songs get too repetitive. Overall, a good, but not great, album.

I feel pretty much the same as my last LCD Soundsystem review. I find it more interesting that we are seeing more than one album from these 'middle of the road' type bands.

This was a lot better than the other LCD Soundsystem album I've gotten on this list. These actually sounded like songs and had structure. That said, the album is a tad too long. 3.0/5.0: Good

these songs were reminiscent of talking heads, which is to say they were pretty good. the problem is they were all way longer than they needed to be which makes it tough to keep listening

the more i listened the songs i found i liked so a win is a win

And yet again, I'm pleasantly surprised by this band with this album. It's funky, groovy, jammy and with a touch of electronica that doesn't turn me off.

Before Listening: I don't think I've heard of this band before, I've certainly never heard of/seen this album before. Excited to see if I know anything from it and/or to see why it might be on this list. The artist has only about 2 million monthly listeners. "Us V Them" - sounds like they remixed the Home Depot theme song The whole album is giving the vibe of stuff I had to listen to for my Jazz class in college. Not sure I loved that album as a whole. There's some fun stuff on it but it all felt a bit artsy without having a ton of substance. But it wasn't so fun that I was able to overlook the lack of depth.

Slow start, but built up to become a strong album in the middle and end portions, maybe not a full listen but had its moments

Track 1 - bird chirps nice. like last half. Track 2 - Like. Track 3 - Punky, Like. Track 4 - Atmospheric opener, brill. Track 5 - mid 2000's vibe, not huge on the sound, nostalgic at the very least. Track 6 - alright Track 7 - Like. read all the pamphlets bridge not huge on. Track 8 - for title track, unimpressed Track 9 - sad boy slop

Old new new old skool

Slightly biased because I remember getting one of these songs wrong in a pub quiz. Like the songs where they don’t sing much. Specific rating - 3.5 Fav song - someone great Least fav- New York I love you but you’re bringing me down

Mostly pretty fun and dancey, occasionally slips into annoying. The issue for me is that when a song you don't like comes on (and repeats uninspired lyrics) it does that for like 8 minutes! But the songs that I like I really like. Favourite song: All My Friends Least: Get Innoculous!

Alright is the main word that comes to mind. The mix of electronica and sort of alt-rock was interesting, and there were a few strong tracks but not incredibly consistent.

Funky disco beats and punk singing.

Not as good as Gold.

"wah wah wah this dance music is soooo repetitive". LCD Soundsystem has the misfortune of being a clubby act that got big among indie rock listeners, so now i have to hear people that dont understand what "groove" and "rhythm" mean bitch about how All My Friends is 8 minutes. i oughta drop this 2 stars for that alone... but i won't. because this is still a pretty good album. deserves to be one of the 1001? yes, pretty handily

All three stars are for New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down

Good album! Bit long at times..like LCD soundsystem?, but not sure id put another album on by them. Be class to see live.

Heard this one before or at least songs off it. LCD are getting the nod of approval of me so far

I dunno this one just doesn’t really fully click for me. I think it’s the long songs.

Some really good grooves, and some that fall flat. Favorite track: Get Innocuous!

Okay for a workout

They remind me of “Cake” and also give me flashbacks to working in a restaurant where the prep chef forced us all to listen to shitty techno and repeatedly changed the Bluetooth password to the speaker.

I liked it more when the music was more dancey and less indie/alt-rocky. Not terrible, not great. It was good for background music.

A bit of B-52's and Meatloaf and Nirvana, recast into a more electronic soundscape form, usually dance, but sometimes just melodramatic.

its was fine

Again not really my vibe

Quite enjoyed this. My rating 3.5

For some reason I thought this was Flaming Lips, which I was not excited for. But found it to be good background work music.

The 2000-aughts were kind of a musical wasteland for me in that I didn't really pay attention to what was going on. Part of this was being married to someone who wasn't into following new music, a big part was living in NYC and not driving around listening to the radio (and NYC not really having a good alternative station to begin with, or maybe they did and I just never noticed). Also I stayed real busy playing Guitar Hero. I couldn't pick Interpol or the Hives or Jet or whoever out of a line-up. But LCD Soundsystem feels like the biggest thing I missed out on. And when I hear it, I'm still missing out on it. I don't get it. And that's okay. Oh wait, it's not okay?

Not familiar with this band at all, not a bad listen at all. Thanks.

Some songs sound very electronic while others sound alternative like North American scum. Us V them sounds like something the talking heads would do. Watch the Tapes is the song I like best. Overall this album is not my style and probably won’t make one of my playlists.

Love the disco influence, and New York I love you is a certified twee classic imo

Listened to this while sitting in traffic, lowkey just pissed me off more

Feeling torn on this one. Does it remind me of Talking Heads? Kraftwerk? Or is it just millennial coworker music? Gunna give it a 3 because I'm not sure.

this was that kind of music genre that I listed to in 2020. Not my vibe now, but all it gave me house breakdance vibes

= the Beatles Some of this is so good. Some of it is so boring and bad.

I enjoy electronic rock and listen to it from time to time. While this album hits those notes I just couldn't get in to it. There wasn't anything that pulled me in or made me want to stay and listen more or again. I can't exactly say why since I don't dislike it in any way. It just didn't hit for me.

Ok electronic dance/atmospheric music. I there there is some Talking Heads influence. Fine but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it.

I really never understood the hype around LCD Soundsystem and I still don't. I did not think this album was very good. While the mix between rock and dance music is ambitious, Primal Scream and other groups have done a much better job of this. For instance,"Time to Get Away" sounded liked a Talking Heads knockoff. Also, I didn't like his voice or the reptitiveness of many of these songs. I have no problem with a 7 minute song, but there should be a reason for that length and I didn't feel that these were justified. Positively, I did find "New York I Love You, but You're Freaking Me Out" to be a pretty epic album closer. Althoguh kind of whiny abotu how NYC has changed over time, the lyrics were itneresting and the guitar and piano parts at the end were great.

More electronic than I was expecting. Some of the grooves are really good. Overall, it’s a good album. 3.5/5 Might listen again

A pretty inventive and experimental dance rock album, which I enjoyed more after a few listens.

I do own this, but apart from the big tracks I don't remember much. The first 3 tracks are actually kind of weak. Someone great and all my friends are brilliant. Like it less now, than I did before which is kind of rare. 3.5 rounded down Heard before? Yes Owned: Yes: 43/171(24%) Will I get. Already have

Está bien. Interesante

fifa kinda vibe in whole album, opening song gave a very bad first impression, but then fifa sentiment made it better

Overall Rating 2.83/5 (5.67/10). Solid album. Probably won't listen to it again.

Not great. There were some parts that were pretty good, but there was a lot of weird, repetitive, or boring parts. Admittedly, I’ve never liked experimental music, so take this as you will.

3,5. Interesting and original

The album had some great beats.

A bit repetitive but funky and a good listen. I liked some songs much better than others. Loved that vibes and genres change throughout the whole album

Interesting album

I really like "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" but hadn't heard anything else on this album, most of which was quite different. It was okay, but a lot of it was a bit repetitive, and all of the tracks were too long.

This album starts kinda rough. "Get Innocuous!" kicks this off like a full Daft Punk-esque electronic album, before "Time to Get Away" settles into a slightly airier EDM-meets-00's-indie-rock sound. Despite the insistence that this is a whole band, most of the album sounds like one guy(James Murphy) using computers in place of actual studio musicians. The artist bio (+pictures) on Spotify also give a strong impression that this is a solo project and you really have to dig deeper to realize that's not true. That impression makes songs like "North American Scum", "All My Friends" and "Us V Them" feel kinda aspirational... Who is "us"/"we"? What friends? All that aside, this is a solid record with a unique combination of danceable electronic music and indie rock that feels purpose built for the zeitgeist in 2007. This feels like one of those acts that will have another album on the list, so I won't spoil that experience by listening ahead in their discography (I don't care that much).

This record is celebrated for perfecting the dance-punk genre by balancing cynical, intellectual humor with genuine emotional vulnerability and infectious grooves. James Murphy dedicated the album to New York City, crafting a sonic landscape that pays heavy tribute to his heroes like David Bowie, Brian Eno, and Talking Heads. The centerpiece track, "All My Friends," builds a relentless, repetitive piano riff into a euphoric crescendo, widely considered one of the defining anthems of the 2000s about aging and friendship. "Someone Great" stands out as a profound electronic meditation on grief and loss, stripping away the band's signature irony for a stark, minimalist production style.

funky beats, good vibe

Middle of the road indie

It was ok, a few songs I quite liked but the rest was nothing spectacular

Good sounds, but very repetitive and very little dynamics. Feels tedious to me.

I wish this band had a different front man, or, better put, a different lyricist. "Someone Great" was a banger for me for a long time. That's a 5 even if the lyrics aren't perfect.

I was dating the quintessential "indie" girl my Jr year of college and this album was the official theme of these dance parties she would drag me to. Never really could get i to LCD but have a ton of crazy memories ties to it.

Hated the first track, but the rest of the album was pretty decent. Fun album.

There’s something in this album that makes me wistful, or maybe that’s because I just wrote this after the last track. Can’t remember much else of it.

This was a very interesting album but it's not my style at all. I really appreciate the experimental and sticky melodies, but the lyrics are very repetitive and the songs are pretty long. However I don't think it's a bad album at all, it definitely makes you wanna dance, but I probably wouldn't listen again.

alright. never heard of this.

Synth repeating. Is this EDM? Who made the list of "is this like?" I hear Bono and Bowie influences: and then even, can't believe I am saying this, Prince like vocals on the first track Get Innocuous! Us V Them did NOT, I repeat, did NOT need more cowbell ffs. Sound of Silver lyrics- the same 29 words repeat repeat ad nauseum for 7 min 7 sec. New York, I Love You wins the album for me because the synth beat is wonderfully missing on this track. Listened before? N Saved some tracks? Y Favorite track? New York, I Love You ⭐⭐⭐ Liked it. Saved some tracks.

I enjoy the consistent rythym. I did like the buildup in the beginning and started enjoying the album. Then Someone Great started playing and I felt as if someone was trying to electro-stimulate my brain in a nurocognitive laboratory (aka unpleasant and a tiny bit painful). Overall I enjoyed the Talking Headness of the album but I guess I prefer to stick to Byrne.

This album was always on repeat at my parent’s house growing up.

Very much noise music obviously Is it impressive? Yes, but not for everyday listening EXCEPT THE LAST SONG APPARENTLY Best = New York Skip = All my friends

over and over and over again.......

A band I have always wrestled over, there are times when they are fun and engrossing and other times they are incredibly derivative and annoying. This album walks that tightrope and has some highs like All My Friends but then gets more workmanlike and boring on Watch the Tapes and the title track towards the end of the album.

Well, I got bored of the 2-minute-long intro to the first song—too repetitive. Time To Get Away was catchy—it had me moving (albeit awkwardly). You could even say I *liked* it. North American Scum—okay, this is catchy too. The line “but in the end we make the same mistakes again” is quite timely. The next few songs got a bit repetitive to me—but they made for good house-cleaning tunes.

Sound of Silver – LCD Soundsystem – 3.2/5 Good music with nice vibes and a cool groove throughout. I think this was my first time hearing it, and overall it was an enjoyable listen.

This album has elements of Talking Heads, which I like. But there are lots of electro/dance elements that I don’t. A rare rounding up from 2.5*.

If I were forced to listen to dance music I might listen to this: raw, garage-style.

3.5* If I wanted to listen to dance music all the time, I think it would be 4+ stars. But since I don't, I think I'll round down. Enjoyable, enough, though.

Hatar ej. Mycket är till och med direkt fräckt. Rak 3a. Hade dansat.

Kul, lekfullt, bra stämning, men tycker sången drar ner lite.

heute nicht...c

It was alright.

1. Really vibing with this song. It was mostly instrumental but this one fucks. I was bopping and grooving around my bedroom. 2. I kinda forgot this one already. 3. WE ARE NORTH AMERICAN SCUM. 4. Scratched my ears somehow. Nice. 5. To be fair, I wasn’t really paying attention to this one, sorry. 6. Definitely a bop. I liked bobbing my head to this one. 7. I liked the lyrics and vibe of this one! 8. Okay! I’m listening to the last two songs with one earbud in which may be affecting my experience and this one is a bit underwhelming as the title song. 9. Obviously the stand out song on the album. This is the only song I ever knew from LCD Soundsystem before hearing the album and, I’ll be honest, it does feel a bit out of place on this album. Overall, some of the songs fit well together sonically (from my limited understanding of music) but mostly they seem kind of disjointed to me. I did like it overall and it’s very fun to vibe to, but it just didn’t do it for me as a whole. I may try and listen to it again at another time. 6.5/10.

I thought i'd hate this, the mainstream electro, dance rock of the early 2000s didn't do a lot for me! It wasn't as bad as feared though, even catchy in moments, but there wasn't enough here for me to want to revisit it.

It took me a while to get into this album but the style did grow on me throughout. I'm not usually a fan of the repetition that can come with electronic groups - but I'll admit there were a few tracks at the end that grabbed me like Us V Them, Watch the Tapes, and a great final track in New York, I Love You.

LCD Soundsystem is a playlist band. If one of their songs come up in a playlist its fun and find but I never actively seek them out. 6/10

Apart from a few songs, not for me.

Boring

Interesting sound I know this is something I could listen to, but it would take a little more time with this album and a few more listens. It’s a three right out of the box though.

This is such a hypnotic album. I found myself drifting between tracks, not really paying too much attention as one track ended and another begins. It's all so hypnotic. All My Friends is clearly a banger. There's a cult like feeling to the whole album, with mantras sucking you in. Rather joyous.

Oh man, huge blank spot for me, I was very much in the music listening mode in 2007 but LCD Soundsystem completely missed me. Maybe I was too old? I had a kid already. Not exactly a clubber Anyway this is not bad, but it's just something I don't get, like it's just build after build after build? I can see how it would be enjoyed by others, but it just washes right over me.

Really cool album. Some great tracks on here. Some of the songs are a little repetitive, but over all pretty good

Interesting. Makes you want to move, but gets a little repetitive. Good though for electronic dance music.

There were some earworms, but they were a bit annoying. Highlights were North American Scum and New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down.

It was alright. Not my genre I suppose, thought I do enjoy other tracks from them (e.g. Daft Punk Is Playing at My House). I mostly just remember being irritated by some sound choices, but its all otherwise passable.

Pretty cool

All songs make a more or less slow start with a few interesting instrumental transitions. A few songs you can actually listen to for those 5+ minutes of length and bop your head to. The overall tone of the songs does not vary very much. Not bad, but not outstanding.

This feels like it belongs on the soundtrack of a Gran Turismo or Burnout or something, which is great for me because I loved those soundtracks. This isn't entirely my normal genre but I definitely enjoyed myself (though I can see how some aspects of it might be very grating to others, or even to me on a different day). I can definitely see the disco influence in this pretty much from the get-go. I feel like they'd have been well served by doing what disco artists used to do - trimming 2-3 minutes out of the album versions of their tracks and then releasing the full things for DJs to use. The repetition doesn't do too much for me and there's not enough variation in the repeats to really keep my interest. Also, somebody please steal their cowbell.

I had their newest album and I liked it much more than I liked this one. This felt more functional... as in the purpose of this is to dance. Which I'm sure it's great at, but I'm not currently dancing, and it's not a hobby that I have (maybe I should). But, I didn't love it as an album of music to listen to.

Heard it before. It's quite alright but I guess it probably hit harder back in 2007. I'm just wondering why there are 3 whole meh songs on this album that have more streams than my favourite one (North American Scum) 3/5

I thought it was OK. No melodies really jumped out at me, nor was I ever deeply immersed into the music. But it was enjoyable. The most popular track "Someone Great," I found pretty annoying and repetitive.

6/10 I thought I would like this more than I do. 11-24-2025

Okay-ish record. I do like this band but they feel redundant after a while

Like it. Favourite track is Get Innocuous 3/5

Solsbury Hill goes hard

One of the greatest indie-electronic songs of all time, two or three decent jangly tunes, the rest irritating, bland and forgettable.

highs are high and the lows are low

It has a couple of cool grooves. Made me think of Talking Heads sometimes. Absolutely didn't like "All My Friends", the same background chords for 8min was a bit much. It was alright.

I liked my experience with the album. Had a lot of fun listening to Us V. Them and Watch the Tapes. Overall I wouldn't seek this out again but I can't say I would turn it off if someone else put it on.

Bit middle of the road but two good songs, #5 and #9

Favoriten Time to get away All my Friends New York, I love you but youre bringing me down

Super groovy but gets repetitive. I love this type of irreverent house music.

I actually really enjoyed this album. Not usually a fan of electronic music, but this was really good. My favorite was North American Scum. So good!

not my type of record all my friends is nice song good as work background music you can get focused on

decent Album

It was OK, unsure how much I truly enjoyed it. Harmless but not particularly thrilling. 3.5 stars.

Rating: 2.6 I have had my experience of this album ruined by already having listened to This is Happening before in my life. That album just makes this album feel like a tech demo in comparison.

Kind of mellow for dance punk. Mostly enjoyable to listen to but nothing stood out.

Unique sound and a couple standouts, but many songs drag on too long.

"All My Friends" is a decent enough song, but not really above a 3 here for this album so far

Trying really hard to be a updated talking heads. I wanted to like it but it gets repetitive and annoying

It's like these guys made songs 8x as long as a normal song with 25% of a great song idea. I appreciate the concepts on this album, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Actually, cut these down to like 3.5 minutes, and a lot of my gripes go away leaving basically only my "overly repetitive" complaint ⭐⭐⭐, I guess? I feel like that's too high and 2 is too low

3/5 Like a couple of songs, mostly misses, and the songs are long. Very modular. I like the drums a lot throughout the project.

Cool ig

I didn't mind this album. It was interesting to hear LCD Soundsystem's take on electronic rock music: I liked the builds and the repetition of motifs like electronic dance tracks. I think the vocals lacked quite a bit: it felt more like talking, and I found it kind of hard to sing along. Highlights include Someone Great and All My Friends. 3 out of 5 stars.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem: an album where James Murphy sings about being tired and disappointed, but somehow you’re supposed to dance through it. It’s upbeat enough to make you move, depressing enough to make you question why you’re moving. Perfect soundtrack for feeling slightly miserable in a cool way.

Pleasant

Not bad

Interesting in parts

I feel like the music that inspired LCD Soundsystem is all my favorite stuff but when it is synthesized this way it leaves something to be desired. I don't know what it is that doesn't land for me.

Gets repetitive but the last track is great. The middle is eh.

Brakowało mi spójności i jakiejś sensownej koncepcji. 6/10

Syltynn 3er

Kind of feels like a prototype of music that I like more...but not quite fully baked.

I liked this more than I thought I would. It starts out very electronic, but definitely drifts towards ending rock for most of it.

What if David Bowie and Prince had a baby at a dance club? Why you'd get this of course. Hooky if derivative, this is a bit too dance forward to be my cup of tea. But its got several strong songs ("North American Scum", "Someone Great", "All My Friends"), even if they sometimes stretch on a hair too long. If you wanna rage, this is the album for you.

Hailed as the DJ to the coolest dance party that you weren’t invited to, LCD Soundsystem were another band that I heard of, but never actually heard. So I was excited to hear this album. And it is good, it really is. If I’m miraculously at the party & wouldn’t be mad at the music I was hearing. But, it feels like there’s something missing, something I can’t quite explain. All I know is, I listened to it once, if it was on somewhere else I’d listen to it again, but I’m not going to seek it out anytime soon.

great album!!

Perfectly listenable indie / dance music, and enjoyable for a while, or as background music in the car. Does feel a bit all surface little substance. Can see why the critics love it. Reminds me of acts like Klaxons or Pendulum. Not the type of band that is easy to 'love'. I wouldn't turn it off if it came on the radio.

I want to give these guys more as I love all my friends but the album is mixed.

It was pretty repetitive and I found myself waiting for the songs to end. Some of the beats were great, but overdone and repeated throughout the whole song, and many songs were like that on the album. Best song was 'New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down' by far, which imo is 8/10

Danceable. 1-2 hits short of a 4 for me though

This album was interesting but not in a bad way. Not what I expected and I liked it.

The initial song, Get Innocuous!, lead me to believe this was going to be more interesting than the album ended up being. I liked All My Friends (I think I'd heard it before). Someone Great was OK. 👍Get Innocuous!, All My Friends

Tried this before because it’s seen as an essential indie album and didn’t like it. I warmed up to it this time but it still wasn’t amazing or anything.

Never got into the back in the day. That genre wasn't my thing. I did like this one

I'd heard this before when it was new. Its too cerebral for dance music but too dancy for pop music, so hard to know exactly what to make of it.

This one was a solid 3 stars. I don’t really have anything to say about it. Was pretty rockeyish and I’m lazy rn so that’s all

It’s fine.

The whole time I was listening to this I could not help but be reminded of those late 2000s era hipsters in Logan Square. Those dudes who walked around in tight jean shorts and a tank top with cheap plastic sunglasses. Probably a mustache and sockless canvas shoes. Maybe even a sweatband if they were trying too hard. I don't know if this was the band for them, but it made me think of them. I never really got into this band. The music is good; some nice beats. Vocals/lyrics were a little bit annoying at times. I won't add it to my library, but there's a decent chance I'll listen to this again sometime when I'm making a big salad. 2.95 stars.

Pretty neat, picks up towards the end with sober good tunes. Not very melodic at times but heavy.

We start off with "Get Innocuous!" which was a bit that. Probably a minute too long. There were only a few songs that I thought "this one is a bit too long." Which is a plus, as ormally this kinda stuff does tend to go on. The shorter songs worked a lot better for me (ones that were shorter than... 7 minutes?!) Probably the best song of the bunch for me was the last one: "New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down". Ultimately I feel like this was the better of the two albums on the list, but it still is middle of the road for me. Top tracks: "Time To Get Away," "North American Scum," "Us V Them," "Watch The Tapes"

LCD Soundsystem’s Sound of Silver is clever, tightly constructed, and undeniably influential — I respect it more than I love it. The grooves are solid and Murphy’s lyrical wit is sharp, but it never fully pulls me in on a personal level. Glad I heard it, but I don’t see myself returning often. For me, this lands at a solid 3 stars, with a nod to its cultural weight.

Generally speaking, I enjoyed the music on the album. It almost felt like I was listening to 2000s alternative radio - I got a Strokes song, The Killers, a David Bowie song thrown in, a little Fat Boy Slim, is that Talking Heads song? I'd enjoy hearing songs from this album on the radio or as part of a mix. A whole album of it, however, did end up feeling a bit much. The music within each song is quite repetitive, and so...many...sixteenth notes. By the end it sort of felt like I'd spent an hour in a club. I don't mean to be too critical - the songs were fun, it just wasn't the best album-listening experience.

Some good, some bad, but mostly just meh

Hadn't listened to it in a while, nowhere near as good as their debut. Feels very sparse, forgot how just how "electronic" (in a bad way) it was, and not much soul to it which is weird because they're amazing with a full live band.

yeah it was ok

2.5 RYM

LCD Soundsystem's "american dream" was my 10th album here and my impression of kit-bash eclecticism is unchanged: "Sound of Silver" is the same confidently and well applied new coat of paint onto music from 20+ years before. What has changed is that, close to 500 albums later, I'm now also equipped with an impression of all the Talking Heads, Bowies, Televisions, PILs, Japans etc. and thus with the insight that 'art rock for discotheques' is just not my jam.

Good album.

There is no reason for any of these songs to be seven or eight minutes long. What could have been an ok album just turns into chore. 2.5/ 5

For so many reasons, I want to dislike this album, but there's something about it that amuses me.

Better than I anticipated. Started off a bit me but the later songs were relaxing and enjoyable. Or it grew on me..

Classic album that I’ve never been able to get that into. I always love LCD in small portions, but a whole album gets monotonous to me.

-This album was not what i was expecting, i thought it would be more synthy, while it did have that it was more soft -though this album isnt really my cup of tea id still say it was pretty good -there was a lot of stand outs but some just faded into the background

A bit of fun. Not too bad

Good beats for work, aproved. Definitely has that 2000s NY sound like the strokes. And even NY you're letting me down sounds a little Broadway. Funny lyrics in North American Scum. Thanks for including Canada! Was it too edgy to make a song called American Scum??

This is the closest I've come to liking an LCD album. The composition of sounds is really nice, but it does get a bit stale, I can't quite get into the guys voice, and the quality is mostly at the start. I'll give those first few tracks another spin though, there's hope yet.

pretty decent

Solid listen. A great album for long drives. Sometimes I thought it would be better if I did not know English, like the North American Scum song, just didn’t dig the lyrics much.

All My Friends still hits me in the feels, great memories flooding through listening to this album this morning

some good songs some bad

Lobotomy: The Album. A few decent tracks, a few terrible tracks. Nothing special. I like the first and the last track the most, also the one where they yell north america. 3/5

Kinda dumb. Voice is rough. Interesting tho.

i didn't think there was much inherently wrong with this album, it just didn't excite me very much. i thoroughly enjoyed 'all my friends' but apart from that i wouldn't be able to tell one track from another - they just weren't very memorable. i do enjoy this genre and there were moments/songs that i would give 4/5* to but as an album as a whole it just felt quite repetitive. i thought it was going to be far more gripping and inspiring than it was and was slightly disappointed when most of the tracks had little depth to them.

I had expectations for this album. I feel the album has a great concept but it gets a bit repetitive. I'm also not the biggest fan of how much Electronica is in this album.

It was ok. Catchy in parts but overall a bit long and repetitive 3 ⭐️

Not my type of music but the last song on the album really brought up my rating of this

LCD Soundsystem is one of those groups where the highs are undeniable - when they land, the hits are fun, smart, and instantly memorable. But outside of those peaks, a lot of their catalogue drifts into repetition and tedium for me. Sound of Silver is a perfect example: it contains some truly great tracks that capture their clever mix of dance-punk and art-rock, but the rest can feel like filler if you’re not fully on board with their style. It’s not really my genre, but I’ll admit, their best songs are a blast.

I appreciate that LCD Soundsystem has a sound that's unmistakably LCD Soundsystem. I'm not always in the mood for them but when I am, this album is the one.

Despite this coming out as my hipsterdom was an its ascendence, I never got into this band. I think I was too into hardcore or something. Anyway, because this missed me, the disco dancing stuff kinda misses me. As electronic music, it feels anemic. As neo-dance, it feels one note. As dance punk, it feels more like a movie soundtrack. As post-punk, well, it's probably there, but the way it sneers feels a little, uh, on the nose? That seems pretty post-punky. Anyway, this is all to say that there are some good sounds here but not having been ripping PBRs on my fixie to this, I don't keep the good feelings around.

North American Scum belong in an early 2000s coming of age story montage (not negative) i like when the instruments :)

Electronica I like Drum machines & synthesizers Disco fiesta Kinda repetitive nothing crazy

Definitely sounds like 2007. Not really for me but North America Sun was good in Step Brothers. Us v. Them and Time to Get Away were other good ones. The whole album had a uniform and solid sound but the whole thing just felt too long. The themes were overplayed and repetitive. 56 minutes divided by nine songs equals over six minutes each. Those are long songs. The shortest song is almost four minutes, which is about the right length for an average song.

2.5?? Maybe still 3? I have mixed feelings about this. I listened to this whole album while folding laundry and i definitely locked in and felt like i was in a fever dream but not a bad one? It kind of faded into good background music at times. Sometimes funky? Sometimes i was just ready for the next song? Idk if i would go out of my way to listen to it again but yet i appreciate the time and layering of sounds it took.

Was cool. I liked the back story.

I enjoyed this album a lot. A bit of Techno dance music. It was listenable.

Would not buy

more fun than expected

in the perfect set/setting this is still a 5 for me. but i’d probably be yapping over it with all my friends on the dance floor

almost want to give this a 2. I just really didn’t enjoy it all that much, even though I don’t find the sound bad or offensive. I like some other LCD soundsystem songs, but listening to an entire album was just pretty boring to me

Not bad. Would like to hear more. The first track was cool

No me dijo mucho.

Not something I would have chosen, but I enjoyed enough of this to feel it needs revisiting in future

I don’t mind this, but I don’t enjoy it. I’m glad I heard it.

I first heard of LCD Soundsystem from the This Is Happening album, so I dived into the older stuff after really enjoying that album. This album is good, but I don't think it's as good as This Is Happening. 2.86/5 stars = 3 stars. Good tunes: North American Scum Someone Great All My Friends

Always heard of the band, never actually heard them. They are cooler than I imagined in my head. Doesn't set the world alight, but cool. Favourite tracks: Get Innocuous!, Time to Get Away, North American Scum, New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down.

Could have been shorter.

Solid. Sound of Silver is the Song

Kuunneltava. Jopa jamitti vähän

Vähän oli taas erikoista ”rokkia”

High energy music for sure. Not quite sure how to listen to it without my mind racing from espresso. I think I get the appeal but I could also live without it

This isn’t typically my style of music, but for some reason I really got into the vibe for a while. I’m surprised this is classified as “rock” (feels more like modern funk). Some of the songs did drag on for far too long and by the end of the album I found my mind drifting away again, but it was very nice while it lasted.

Some great grooves that were a lot of fun, but the repetitiveness of the lyrics over an hour really takes away from the rating. I would potentially rate this higher if there was less singing.

Beep boop boop bop

Equal parts interesting and irritating.

I did not expect Sound of Silver on this list. Not that its not good, but their first album is probably way more influential as a modernized Devo electronica/art rock sound. This album still has some of that, but loses some of the charm for more indie rock sound which is probably more generally approachable. Loved the unique synths and bass used throughout. Album could use a radio cut version where each track is 3-5min instead of averaging at 7min as I feel like the unique sounds are better in bursts. - mitona

Cool arrangements, if a little monotone and repetitive at times. Easy to put on in the background.

Fun as hell even though it’s repetitive, and definitely shines a light on a sound a lot of people really wanna hear

Folks, I am not a dancer. I am a nerd through and through, not blessed with rhythm, and to add to that I listened to this album while on a two-hour drive. As such, I am not the type of person and was not in the situation to enjoy this type of music. It was okay--as with most dance music, it overstays its welcome fairly frequently (Us V Them could so easily be far shorter and would be a lot better for it; I feel like the repetition of "over and over again" just had to be self-aware), but the beats were catchy and distinct from song to song. "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" is quite a good song, and coincidentally the least dancy on the album. Overall, it isn't quite my thing, but there's a whole lot worse out there.

I liked it better than I thought I would.

I didn’t hate it as much as the last LCD Soundsystem I got on here. Some parts were pretty good and catchy, overall though still not my jam.

Loved "North American Scum". The sound of LCD Soundsystem is definitely adjacent to Talking Heads.

Electro and rock with vocals that are rock. Very unique sound and well crafted

Thisbis myb4th album, and aftee almost 150 albums I am rating it. Well, happy I took this time tbh because I needed Talking Heads fresh in my ear to pick the refefences. The album is ok, I get that it's experimental but apart from "New York, I love You" and "North American Scum" , I got bored by the eletronic sounds and the repetition. Also, Harry Styles kinda reminded me I needed to listen to this album because "aperture" is a total ripp off frm the band and this era. I see the impact clearly now of tthe band, but still kinda meh for me. 3/5

Bee loves them so much

Das New york i love you but your are bringing me down

Possibly my latent frame of mind and that I'm feeling a bit under the weather, but this was anxiety inducing.

Enjoyed it for sure. They don't all hit, but there are enough that do. Fav track: North American Scum

I liked this album better than I thought I would.

Much, much better than I expected from the electronica genre label. More of a fusion with alt-rock, and I thought it was pretty enjoyable.

Some good stuff here but every song is just a little too long.

Good, fun, energetic mix of electronic music and rock.

It was...okay. It reminded me of a lot of other bands, and also of late-80s video games. Probably won't listen again if I'm honest, but not rushing to turn it off either.

I like the vibes, very funky Fav song - North American Scum 3/5

RADIO BROKER

Not too bad

The songs are so repetitive and annoying that they almost become addictive but maybe that was the plan. 3 stars or C-.

Kind of monotonous. Maybe all the songs just need to be shorter? I really can't listen to them without hearing all their influences (I was getting a lot of Spoon today) but I'm sure they'd sound better to fresher ears.

I’ve listened to a little LCD Soundsystem before but never quite clicked with them. While the entirety of this album didn’t blow me away the album was pretty solid with All My Friends, Watch The Tapes, and New York, I love You but You’re Bringing Me Down, being true standouts.

3 stars

First listen

Pretty good album for the background. Not much to say on this one

It's a vibe. A good vibe. But a repetitive vibe.

Good record, really liked the sound. Somewhere between the strokes and daft punk. Energizing, and a total vibe.

This is another one that I'd call "fun"- I think making fun music is something LCD really excels at. It seems like their songs always take a while to get to the payoff, but somehow it doesn't feel like it's as long as it is, and you don't mind the wait because it's a fun ride. The tracks on Sound of Silver pretty much all were in that mold. In particular, the grooves were good and the music experience was enjoyable. The lyrics and vocals are probably the least attractive part of the mix on most of the songs, but they serve their purpose well. If you consider them as instruments instead of the lead focus of the composition, they work a lot better. The album flowed, even though each song had a fairly distinct feel. It did start to get a bit tedious toward the end for me, though, and I felt like it should've been a bit shorter. All considered, there's just nothing really here to make it great. Most of the songs are good, though a few fell below that. It probably would've been better overall if there was one fewer song on it. North American Scum and All My Friends were the best tracks on the album to me, but they still weren't better than pretty good. Definitely not strong enough to carry the rest of the album higher. It's solid, but not more than that. Overall: 3.25/5

It was good but I didn’t feel a lot of the songs, felt a bit generic.

3 stars I’m not beholden to this album for nostalgia reasons. While this was the kind of music I listened to at the time I did not listen to it until years later. It’s good, with some solid tracks. But the tracks are a bit overlong and not all of them have as much replay value. Still a mostly great listen.

There's something about this album that's never quite clicked with me. I do like it, but it just doesn't resonate with me like some of their other work.

dali rade

I like LCD Soundsystem, but I don't think I've heard a consistent album from them yet. Having said that, I do like a lot of their individual songs. Liked Songs Added: North American Scum Someone Great New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down

Nota: 2.7

Fun, funky, quirky, cool.

Sometimes it got too repetitive, but I like the vibe and the style.

I wasn't vibing with this at work, but I played it a second time as I headed home. It started raining and was getting cloudy, and because of it, I was vibing with the music. Maybe it had something to do with the mood, how certain music sounds better depending on your environment.

Typisk britisk, ikke helt min kopp te. Grei bakgrunnsstøy, ikke mer.

Second half shines brighter

Had never really listened to LCD Soundsystem so interesting to have the chance. One song - Someone Great - I loved, the rest didn't really do it for me, but I can sort of see the appeal. More accessible than Daft Punk.

i didn’t love this album overall but the last song was super good

I enjoyed this, but it didn't captivate me. I kept finding myself in the other room doing something else by track 6. I'm going to see them live soon. Hopefully I'll stay more focussed on them then.

Some songs are too repetitive I like the last song and the 2nd song

Album 760 of 1089 LCD Soundsystem -Sound of Silver (2007) Rating : 3/ 5 Genre bending. From New Wave to Disco...a little dance-punk...a little electronic. Probably the highest rating I've give to an album that is partially described as electronica. Good lyrics, well produced, good writing. Glad to have ran across this one.

This one is hard to rank. Ive always been on the fence about LCD Soundsystem- they do a lot that I want to enjoy and definitely have a unique spund/style, but I find a lot of their songs to be long & repetitive. Overall- I liked some parts. Probably a 2.5 - 3 / 5

Some songs are longer than necessary, but other than that it was pretty good

I liked this better than I'd anticipated, but it's not really my taste. There are some decent songs on it and a handful I didn't care for at all. I first heard album closer "New York..." last year when English Teacher covered it, and they're not crazy different but I'm content to stick with their version. I also recognized a few times where other bands have been inspired by this and borrowed from it, so clearly it's made an impact that makes it worth checking out. I doubt I'll sit through it again, but not mad this project brought me to it.
