Born-again Bowie ain’t bad.
Some good and bad. Different for it's time, but now just a thing. I could keep some on as background music.
I do like the sound of this album but something about it doesn't make it a 4 for me. If i could I would rate it 3.5 stars. It's definitely fun to listen to
7/10. It has some nice songs on it. Although, it didn't feel too groundbreaking. :)
Nunca entendí de que va LCD Soundsystem, un poco messy pero no tan malo
I made it Al the way through and felt like I needed to take a break and try again in a week. First thoughts: it grew on me as the album went on and by the end I think it was okay. Good soundtrack music- stirred some feelings and sounded cool. But I don’t think I’d put it on again Second thoughts: it may be like Radiohead where the more you listen the more you get and 2 years from now they may be one of my favorite bands.
Couple of good songs but just boring for most of the way.
can be fun if you're in the right mood. other times it can be tedious and boring.
Gotta say I enjoyed this. Triggered the Kraftwerk/Blondie/Giorgio Moroder disco-cheese pleasure centers in my brain. It's a long stretch tho.
liked some songs more than others, got Radiohead vibes somewhere and also there was a song that it seems like the 1975 ripped off for Sex. lol. may keep some songs
Так себе, почему-то ожидал что будет лучше.
Several nice songs, but a couple, e.g., the opener, bring it down.
get innocuous! é uma introdução forte e minha faixa preferida, consequentemente me fez esperar muito mais das seguintes, us v them também se destacou. mistura diversos elementos que curto bastante mas queria ter aproveitado melhor, achei meio cansativo.
Grew on me!
This was a lot better than I was expecting and good to have on in the background.
Wait. I liked this. North American Scum is GREAT. Like add to my playlist great. The rest were good.
Not really my thing but it wasn't too bad.
It’s ok
Pretty nice
"New York, I Love You..." is a gem! Rest is decent
Good and groovy electronica, but the beats are repetitive and the tracks are long. A good listen if it isn't your primary focus, bad if you want something engaging
not so much
Just ok
Nice album actually, would be nice if the kraftwerky start would be embraced more throughout the album.
This feels like something you need to listen to more than once to really dig into. Enjoyed it overall. It’s like Beck, Arcade Fire, and Phillip Glass all rolled into one.
The reviewer who says he made all his jeans into jorts really made me smile because there is a lyric by The Fall that fans of James Murphy "show their bollocks when they eat". Anyway, decent enough indie dance but I've never really got the fuss. If it came out ten years earlier when I was working in pubs I'd have all kinds of good and bad memories attached to it I'm sure.
Pretty cool beats. Would study to
Wasn't the day for it at all.
Some good tunes but too long and monotonous for my tastes
All I could think of was Fatboy Slim this whole album, is that good or bad? I dunno, it makes me realize that you dont hear this kind of music that much anymore. The lead singers voice grated on me as this went on. Not bad, not great.!
Was going to give this 4 stars because I was enjoying how “Beck”ish it was but then the songs started to sound annoying. On a different day it would have been a 4!
Not my thing.
The songs go on for too long. And there's not enough variation for me. I won't come back to this.
First time through I'd have given it 2.25, another listen and a few of the tunes started to grow on me. Still reminds me of early New Order and Book of Love from the 80s - a bit light. 2.75
Love the sound and production. Get Innocuous was my favorite, but overall most songs had to much repitition for me.
Many repeating sounds, songs with a slower tune tend to get quite repetitive. Example New York I love you, lyrics just repeat and repeat Electronic beats are ok, get Innocuous sounds like a Halo soundtrack at parts, many musical layers. North American scum is catchy at times, is a rock song with a good electronic beat More slower electronic beat songs like someone great and sound of silver are irritating and I'm not sure why I'd listen to, I'm not dancing to them and the effects in the background hurt my ears Like more upbeat songs like all my friends
This is a good LCD Soundsystem album. I like their stuff, but none of it blows me away. I usually get into a mood occasionally to listen to one of their albums. My favorite thing that James Murphy has been apart of was the Tim Heidecker movie, The Comedy. North American Scum is my favorite on here.
Ok, this is fun. Groovy, even. But I'm not sensing anything stellar about LCD Soundsystem over what others in the genre have already done. More of the talking songs are reminiscent of Talking Heads ("Us V. Them"), but Talking Heads did it better. There are some actual melodies sung over the thumping pulse in "Someone Great" and "All My Friends," but the Killers did it better. Judi Chicago (from ATL!!!!) threw this same dance party just as well (though 4 months later), and they remain in the obscure club scene, where LCD Soundsystem should be instead of headlining festivals. The line that resonates with me the most, from the title track: "[it] makes you want to feel like a teenager until you remember the feelings of a real-life emotional teenager; then you think again." Not revolutionary, but a good reminder that it's less dramatic on this side of 20. I wish there were more songs like "New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down," easily the best tune on Sounds Of Silver. The Kermit-the-Frog-sings-Ben-Folds seems sincere and honest, placed after a 50 minute in-your-face shake-your-butt-a-thon . It is leaving the club when it closes at 2am, after the dance party has ended and you're back to reality and the consequences of your actions. Like a mediocre movie that ends spectacularly well (looking at you, "The Usual Suspects"), one is left with the overall feeling that the entire experience was great, or at least worth enduring for the payout. Don't let them re-color the past. It's not bad, but it's not the mind-blowing music you read about in the YouTube comments. Maybe if you come from a rave culture, this has more heart and melody, but coming from heart and melody as I do, this is decaf with a beat.
I've listened to this before years ago but had a tough time making it through the tail end of it. I am more used to a polished electronic/dance music sound, whereas this sounds pretty analog for lack of a better word. I liked it better this time around. It sounds like a mix of Kraftwerk ( I think probably all electronic dance music owes Kraftwerk for their innovation) a bit of New Order with either Robert Palmer or Mick Jagger type vocals. I particularly liked 'Someone Great'. I did find some of the sounds, song structure and vocals to be a bit repetitive. Overall a cool album though.
It was decent. Felt repetitive or boring at times but some songs i really liked
What in the modern funk/dance music is this? I don’t love it, but I like it. The songs do seem to get a little repetitive, but overall it’s a good listen and I wouldn’t necessarily skip them if the came up on a playlist.
I had never listened to this album at all and so far, I am liking it! I felt my foot tapping along while it played along in the background while working. I may need to put this on my "work" list for concentrating. I like "Us vs Them" and "sound of silver" and kinda dig most of the songs in their own way. A good listen
It’s ok. I liked a couple of songs.
Funky little album with some nice bass and a healthy dose of cowbell. Only problem is the singer gets obnoxious sometimes, whether it's intentional or not. (New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down being an example.)
Quite good, a bit on the repetitive side as you get through the album though. Nice summer vibes
Pretty good; easy to listen to. Not sure I'd remember it x
Never listened to LCD in the day, so this is my first real listen. It's okay, but I'm wanting more electro... this feels like indie with some loops or plussed up casio beats. It sounds like what an older guy who was into 80s synth pop as a kid would make. It's decent, would listen again, but wanting more. 3.7
I’m sure it’s great but it’s not my thing
3.5
Really enjoyed the electronic beats of this album! 3.5/5
I can definitely understand why this is an all-time favorite for a lot of people. My main issue with this and LCD Soundsystem in general is the talk-singing style and the synths that don’t really change. Still, I liked it and its subject matter is pretty unique. The highlights for me were “All My Friends” and “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”.
LCD I like the repetitive trance like development in the long songs but it might be a bit slow to develop or a might not always be worth it. Least favorites were watch the tapes and New York. The instrumental and electronic elements are more interesting than the vocal I think I would like this more with a different singer. I liked the other album we had better.
What do you even call LCDS? Some fantastical blend of dance-punk; dance-rock; electronica; electronic rock; indie rock(?) Album hooks you with upbeat and irresistible dance elements "North American Scum"", Someone Great" and "All My Friends" are iconic classics
Tbh i like lcd sound system ok but its never been my thing
So so
Vil hellere høre Low
Repetitive. Would have given it a 2 but the New York song bumped it up.
I appreciate this kind of music but it is not my forte.
I really adored some aspects of it, and some of them surprised me in a good way. Maybe it won’t be your kind of album to listen to, because of the length of it and the overspread material in it. Overall, really appreciated this listen 🖤
Enjoyable variations in sound. Pretty good.
"Hi. I'm white but I'm cool. Isn't this great background music. So cool, right? just have a drink or get high or whatevr. Each song has at least a minute where you can just vibe, y'know. Just lots of beats to talk about how rejection is hard. Wait, did you not notice the music? So edgy, right? Wait, where are you going...?" Just the same, All My Friends is a bop and New York I Love You is awesome.
Fine listening, but too long. Boy do I relate to *not wanting to be an emotional teenager*
It’s ok, a little too grating to have as work background music
Very unique use of instruments. Can't say that this is my cup of tea. But good stuff nonetheless
Some nice tracks with nice instrumentals, but the vocals can be hit and miss. Favourite song: All my friends
Decent electronic, overshadowed by other giants of the genre
Yeah i dont know still not my favorites. Loved the first track tho
Je pensais que j’allais aimé ça plus que ça, finalement c’est un peu un Aphex Twin bootleg
Some highs and lows. Gets a little out there for me, and very repetitive in the middle bits. Ends on a high note.
In most cases when I see the electronic genre, I know a headache is soon to follow. Well, surprise here. I fell in love with All My Friends and immediately downloaded during the first listen. I can't say enough about how much I love this song. The music, the lyrics and just the way it makes me feel is right up there with any of my favorites. This is a 5 star song. And after a few more listen to the album, I thought North American Scum was very good and thought Someone Great and Watch the Tape were decent songs as well. Much to my surprise, I found myself grooving in my seat at times and then even let the genre play out today. I can't say I think this is a great album, but I can't tear it apart either. I never imagined I would give a dance/electronica album a solid score, but here we are. Mainly on the back of All My Friends, I'm scoring a 3. Probably even closer to a 3.5. 3
3.5 As someone who has admittedly never done so himself, I don’t think I’ve ever heard an album that seems to sum up the NYC clubbing experience quite as well as this one does (though The Strokes’ debut comes close). Both musically and lyrically, this album feels like the experience of going out, getting a little too crazy, and then sobering up on the walk back to your apartment, just as the sun begins to poke out. That to say, I’m not normally a big fan of club music, but LCD Soundsystem is able to put an alternative rock-inspired spin on the genre that seems to work for me… about half of the time. The few songs I’ve heard by the group prior have been pretty hit or miss, and I felt mostly the same about this album. But man, when these songs hit, they HIT. I really liked Someone Great and North American Scum (don't blame the Canadians), but holy cow, All My Friends is on a totally different level. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve listened to the track since I first heard it (despite its near 8-minute runtime) - there’s just something about the song that really speaks to me. I love the fast-paced piano hook, I love the buildup, and God, I love the lyrics. “You spent the first five years trying to get with the plan And the next five years trying to be with your friends again You're talking 45 turns just as fast as you can Yeah, I know it gets tired, but it's better when we pretend” “Though when we're running out of the drugs And the conversation's winding away I wouldn't trade one stupid decision For another five years of life” I think most importantly, I love nights with my friends, and as someone who is reaching the end of his first five years of trying to get with the plan, this song really strikes a chord with me. Is there really anything better than just a good night with good friends? Fantastic song, but unfortunately, the rest of the album just doesn’t really hold much of a candle to it - each time I re-listened to this thing, I found myself kind of over it after All My Friends. I like the closer, New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down, but other than that, there’s really not much of interest going on in the back half. I like the lyric “Sound of silver, talk to me/Makes you want to feel like a teenager/Until you remember the feelings of/A real-life emotional teenager/Then you think again”, but the song grows repetitive and annoying very quickly. I struggled with my rating a bit on this one given how much I love and appreciate the song All My Friends, but really, the only particularly enjoyable aspect to this album for me is that song and the two before it. So, I think that keeps it out of the 4 territory, but everything else is at least inoffensive enough to keep it from being below a 3, so I’ll allow the greatness of those three songs to earn it the half star. Plus, something about this album makes me think this group would be an absolute blast to see live - I’ll definitely be looking into that.
Get innocuous - cool rhythm but not cool for this long. Don't care for the vocals and the mix is muddy Time to Get Away - we're having fun here. The kooky vocals feel better here, sit better in the mix, which is less dense than the first track North American Scum - Step Brothers! A hit, to be sure. The way he sings Canadians is low key goated Someone Great - intro rocks. lyrics hit. Sounds out of tune to me though at points All my Friends - nope Rest of the album - glad it got made. pretty experimental and the lyrics are interesting. Some of the stuff just doesnt sound good though, hurts my ears. 6/10
2.46 per track
I quite enjoyed this! I liked the first, and last two tracks best. The album worked really well as a soundtrack to a self portrait I was painting. It is not the usual music I would choose whilst painting and I think it contributed to me making a different kind of painting. An enjoyable album.
It's OK, don't get the fuss with this album
Some reasonably good songs. Most of them sound quite repetitive though. Not sure what I was expecting but this wasn't what I thought LCD SoundSystem sounded like. Thought they would be more techno/electronic but some songs actually seemed to have good lyrics. Somewhat easy listening, I think I could enjoy listening to this more than once.
Fun n funky. I'd probably enjoy more listens.
A lot more here that I like than I’d initially anticipate. Multiple songs I should go back to. 3.5/5
All My friends good
There are some fun moments and there are some really repetitive moments.
First listen Saved 4/9 Top track: New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down
Fine, but nothing standing out to me on here. I had this over the weekend so had ample opportunity to listen. I’d already played it twice and was about to listen to it a third time but just could not be arse with it again. Not a good sign.
They were a big band for awhile but for some reason never came across my radar. I knew North American Scum as it was used as the intro song to Ron and Fez when I listened to XM Radio, but nothing else was familiar. It was decent. I can see why it's popular.
New York, I love you but...
I randomly bought this CD a long time ago. I don’t know if I’ve ever listened to it in one sitting. It has its moments
All of my friends have great Musical taste but still they love this album much more than I do.
Sounds ok
I was late to this, but managed to be convinced to give it a listen. It’s such a solid album - but something about it will always be a little off to me. The whole experience is a conundrum.
I'm still not overly impressed by LCD Soundsystem, but I thought this one was okay. It's not my favorite, but it's not bad either. "Watch the Tapes" stands out as my favorite because it's the closest to sounding like an actual song.
I often wonder how recency bias feeds into the whole "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" schtick, because we've come across more than a few 2000s era album that have, unfortunately stank like shit. This one doesn't, thankfully, but it's also nothing close to a must listen, its just a lot of mid 00s angst over mid beats...
C'était ben le fun.
I liked it but I did skip a few songs because of the repetitiveness. I would rate it a 3.5 but I don't think I like it enough to push it up to a 4.
Meh it’s a good album just not my cup of tea
Fine for background music while concentrating on something else.
Some really great musical ideas here but I can't get over the singing
Got some pretty funky beats and vocals at first. Got a little too repetitive for my tastes.
Would give it 3.5 if i could. Wiuld be a 4 it it wasn’t as repetitive. New York I Love You is worth 5 stars in it self.
I’m really partial to New York I Love You. Overall, a really nice album. I don’t find it the most interesting all the way through, but I think the singles are worth it.
Repetitive, high pitch bells are annoying
Definitely makes you want to get up and dance.
A little hit and miss for me but I enjoyed North American Scum and All My Friends
Started off enjoying the album, but it became quite repetitive.
Bit of a mixed bag this one. It often sounds very 80's synth-poppy. It's like they were trying to emulate Soft Cell or Human League, but 20 years too late. And they do sound very English, which no doubt prompted "North American Scum", which I quite enjoyed.
At points thought this could be a 4 but quite repetitive in the end with some dull notes. 65/100
Pretty solid. Was playing Super Auto Pets to this. - 6/10
Not a bad album, but I am ambivalent about some aspects like the repetition, lyrics, off-key singing, and song lengths. The production was great though. Overall, there were a few songs I liked, the rest didn't hit.
I already knew the good ones
a little repetitive for me
It was fine but not many memorable tracks. Think I was hoping for more given how much I've enjoyed some of their recent collaborations and remixes.
driving rhythms but found it quite samey
So much fun and so so good. There is so much amazing music!
A few good songs
Dnf. Not bad, just boring
I didn't know what to expect with this one but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a mix of Daft Punk, Postal Service, and The Strokes? Dancy, indie-rocky, personal, and human. Some songs dragged on just a bit too long, but there were plenty of songs to enjoy here. I would give it a 7/10, but I'll round down to a 3/5 just because I probably wouldn't revisit that much. Favorite Songs: Get Innocuous!, Someone Great, All My Friends, Watch the Tapes, Least Favorites: North American Scum,
Wel geinig, sound of silver is wel grappig, verder niet heel bijzonder
Mostly not for me.
Total 80s groove! I could hear some Bill Nelson, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen.... and a smidge of White Stripes. Great driving music! You'd be boppin in your seat and miles be flyin by! Makes you feel like a teenager..... a real life emotional teenager..... 🎶
This album surprised me. I don't usually enjoy super-repetitive electronica rock (with a few exceptions) but there were some really enjoyable tracks on this.
Not bad. Listened while at work and it blended in with the background....so nothing really stood out. It was a worthy listen.
I liked it, not enough for a 4
klassiker aber umghaut hats mi nit
First time hearing this album. It had some good songs with great basslines.
Well this was a pleasant surprise! I was a little deflated when this came up, the band name suggesting to me a purely electronic/dance act. However, what I got was a combination of synthesised beats supplemented - crucially - by scratchy guitar, real drums and impressive bass guitar. It reminded me of an updated iteration of New Order. I really quite enjoyed the first 5 tracks, with opener 'Get Innocuous' and 'Someone Great' being particular standouts for me. However, at 55 minutes, it did outstay its welcome somewhat. So, not a total convert but quietly impressed. The question is, though, will I be tempted to relisten?
B- Get Innocuous! 3 Time To Get Away 3 North American Scum 3 Someone Great 3 All My Friends 3 Us V Them 4 Watch The Tapes 3 Sound Of Silver 3 New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down 4 Better than the other one.
decent EDM Album Som bangers some are way to long of tracks
Modern New Wave Sound. Not bad. Don’t turn it off when it comes on. May listen to more of their stuff in the but don’t think I’ll seek it out. They probably put on a heck of a live show though.
Mezcla de canciones con ritmo, algo de electrónica, estilo pop. Ritmos tranquilos. Un tanto mediocre
Most song lyrics not relatable for me. Too repetitive rhythm. Ok for workouts and dance party.
Really really enjoyed this and cant wait to relisten 3.5
Irregular disc, but includes the marvelous: North America Scum. So it gains another star
It's coffee shop or local record store music, and I mean that in the best way. The only song I was familiar with before listening to the whole album was New York I Love You because of the music video with Kermit and the mashup with Miles Davis.
I really didn’t like it at first but it grew on me. I think I get it.
This album got better as it went on. Starts at a 2 star, and finishes at a 3. The last song was a little week, but not bad.
could i write poetry to this? n
Fun! Talking Heads, B-52s, Devo...
I can see why people love this, but can also see why people hate this. Which means, yup, I’m right in the middle.
Pleasing sound, overall good variety. Small but fitting changes in rhythm. Over the duration of the album sadly a bit repetetive, but there are some great songs. 2.5/5
I am very familiar with this band and although I only listen to them when KEXP plays them, the songs sound great cranked on the car stereo.
Very 80's alternative sounding, repetitive
Schizophrenic ass album. Pick a lane. Just kidding. You do you.
It starts off great and continues to be the same throughout so not bad but a bit repetitive. Low 3.
Okay. Wouldn't listen again. It's interesting, but repetitive and too much of an 80s sound for my liking
I wish all the songs were like “Get Innocuous” and “Sound of Silver”
These guys are kind of meh for me. This was a more enjoyable listen than their 2017 American Dream, also on this list for some reason. I would like a half star since this is better than average, but not "make me sit up and listen".
Meh, probably the roots of "electronic alternative"
Decent: not much to say about this album tbh. I have heard a lot about LCD Soundsystem and they were as I expected. I can see why people like this music. The lyrics were solid and some decent beats but nothing to make my head turn.
не так горячо как те песни которые я знаю, можно лучше!
Didn't feel like LCD Soundsystem's best.
This was a really decent listen that turned into a bop. Will definitely come back to it another time
Surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Good lyrics, interesting electronica. Will give this another listen, 3/5!
Not bad. Not brilliant. A bit more than mediocre. Nothing to write home about. I liked the second or third track.
Decent but not earth-shattering.
On paper this is something i should love and given how many good things ive heard of lcd soundsystem i expected to like this more. Theres a lot of cool stuff ab it but tbh i have to agree with a common sentiment in the reviews that finds this repetitive. Normally i like repetitive music (see: daft punk) but something about this one was kinda boring me halfway through. Will still give other works of his a shot but left a bit underwhelmed
Not my favorite genre, but I was able to listen to the whole album. So not bad.
Surprisingly okay
The music was really cool, but just not my style!
"Get Innocuous" and" Time to Get away" are not the greatest songs to start the album with. 2/5 But "North American Scum" and "Someone Great" are excellent follows. 4/5 "All My Friends" is clearly the highlight in my opinion. 5/5 It gets worse again from there, but not too bad. 2-3/5 "New York, I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down" the only song I already knew and love. 5/5 Overall 3.16. Seems like an unfair score for an album from which I really enjoyed about half of the songs and actually saved one of them for repeated listening.
Håpte detta skulle vær midt i blinken for meg, men den gang ei
Un album plutôt nuancé pour du dance.
The pop/synch sound that they bring is very unique. A little bit uneven at times, but it carries well overall
Music and lyrics are interesting, but the vocals don't quite hit for me. They are pretty flat and non-melodic, which extends frequently to the chorus as well. This works a bit better for bands like the Strokes, but here I don't really get into it. Overall it is decent in smaller doses, but I'm tired of the voice by the end of the hour.
IDK why, but this album makes me sad and anxious. Reminds me of a party I went to at Robin's house in about 2009 where I stood still for ages so that the timelapse someone was filming would just have me stood there for ages. Makes me feel old.
Toe tappers of the modern day
Every song could have been half the length but some absolute bangers
It’s like listening to Talking Heads but just a little less goofy. It’s missing that “I’LL TELL YA LATER!” energy, but I was really impressed with this album. Probably will listen again!
already heard this
Un disco muy dinámico. Muy del nuevo milenio. Sus canciones es muy repetitivas con notas y reminiscencias de Talking Head
“Electronic dance music.”
eeeeeh except for NY I love you
It grew on me more than I thought. The lyrics were fun and surprisingly thoughtful tbh. And the bass hit especially.
Honestly, it was a little boring for my taste. I like my electronic music to be more bombastic and this just wasn’t it. Not to say it’s bad as it was still good, but it didn’t make too big of an impact on me.
Well someone is a fan of Talking heads. There were a couple of track, the first one included that definitely had that vibe. After that it drifted into modern American pop, came back a bit later but drifted off again. I suppose variety is a good thing but not particularly me. Might just scrape a 3.
That’s not normally the sort of music I listen to. If that was the sort of music I listen to, I’d probably listen to this. If that makes sense. Better than I thought it would be. Had a little snooze half way through but it didn’t induce nightmares, and when I woke up it was still bobbing along quite nicely.
Not a band I listen to often, I’m more into something like The Avalanches, MGMT, Daft Punk etc. But it still is quite an enjoyable album! 6,5 out of 10
Cool sound, I liked this album will probs check out more from them
I’ve tried lcd a couple times pretty solid but never hits just right for me, last song was a BAANGER tho! Could see it hitting if you listened to it a couple times.
I love LCD soundsystem but damn this album wasn't doin it for me for some reason
Unique sound pretty good ended on a banger. 3.5
Solid album to fill out your general erection ballot thats due the next day. Gotta do my civic duty 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Please please please go listen to their next album “This Is Happening” It’s iconic it should be on this list so I can give it 5 stars Why is this album on here instead? >:(
This is happening is better but this was p good
Some songs are pretty solid neo disco jams and the rest are just wailing over meandering beats. Its like a 2.5 but I'll round up to 3 because it's much better than that godawful James Taylor album.
It’s fun, I enjoyed it - bounced between scores as it went, but in the end, I think it was a little too repetitive to warrant more than a 3. Listened on the way home from Silver City, which feels appropriate. Highlights: - Get Innocuous - New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down
good stuff?
Didn’t like this sound
It was a bit boring.
Alright.
All My Friends is an amazing song. Still not sure if I really like Sounds of Silver or if it's annoying. Rest of the album is forgettable.
Treeees sympa !
Easy listening, was a good album whilst I was working but no memorable tracks for me
Two songs good. All my friends. New York ….
Really like the slow build on the first track. Overall I like the sound but not the singing.
I liked it but not as good as some of thwir other stuff
Unique sound
ok
Sounds like some Jacob music Kinda fire
decent
Not my favorite but not a bad album. Baby’s first house music.
Didnt expect that
Honestly never really got the hype for LCD Soundsystem, even though by rights they should be something I really like (I love a lot of other indie/dance hybrid shit, I'm the right age, etc). But yeah, this to me is a couple great songs and some pretty good ones. In other words, solid 3.5 material. Pretty good, but I can name like 5 other indie dance bands I prefer.
A few.bangers in the middle.
Elsket denne da den kom, men har ikke stått seg like godt :-(
I was excited to listen to this album, but as I did, I wasn't the biggest fan. There were flashes of things I liked but a lot of the choices that were made just didn't work for me. Strange sounds at certain moments. It didn't make it a bad album, I just wanted it to be better.
I believe this is number two from LCD Soundsystem, a band I went and saw with Andrew and Alden without knowing their music at all. They've got some serious jams on here, no denying that. I always assumed they were a band from decades ago, but this one's pretty recent. Still not quite a "fan" of LCD like that, but both albums we've had have been good, I think they're worth a nod on here. Favorite tracks: North American Scum, Someone Great, Us v. Them. Album art: I've seen this one a lot, but I'm not a big fan. Some kind of light or something set up on the ground, and the whole image is rotated. I don't know, it just doesn't do anything for me. 3.5/5
Not my style, a bit too repetitive; that being said, “where the buildings are old and you might have lots of mimes” is an all-time great lyric. Favorite song: North American Scum. 6/10
Es bueno, pero no mindblowing
Reminds me of the Chemical Brothers
Bit electronic for my taste
Great background album. I will probably listen to again
My favorite part of this album was the sound design. There are a lot of really juicy and rich synth parts which are a joy to hear, on a par with those of Daft Punk. The first track is kind of the odd one out and is very reminiscent of Kraftwerk. The rest seems to have more influence from the David Bowie/Brian Eno Berlin era. I can't comment much on the songwriting as it is rather minimal and dancy. I have never been the biggest fan of LCD Soundsystems vocals but revisiting them this time I found them more tolerable, especially noticing the clear Bowie influence.
Solid electronic beats Fits the "mid 2000s" vibe North American Scum was a bop Someone Great felt like it could be a Postal Service song All My Friends sounds like it was sampled for Time To Dance Sound of Silver deserves headphones I knew "New York, I love you" already!
Builds in energy and relatability with each track. Likable, up beat, a little repetitive.
Nice vibe, not totally my time but it grew on me, good instrumentation and overall a chill listening experience.. 6/10
Not my thing at all. Think slowed down rave, with carefully layered electronic soundscapes. All very well done, but it left me absolutely cold. This is what I would expect a good set of music generating algorithms to produce. The drum rhythms are absolutely mechanical, the bass lines follow predictable structures and then a 'correct' melody is layered on top. The lyrics seem to be more concerned with the sound than the meaning. Then on the final track they transform into a mediocre lounge band!! I guess they had a message they wanted to deliver, but what it was is not at all clear.
I didn’t think I would like it but once I got past the first song I got into it. Pretty good feel good music.
Surprisingly funky beats, eg, on North American Scum. Someone Great is pretty. Fun sounds on the title track.
I love the song North American Scum. I wanted to gouge out my ear drums on All My Friends.
So, when this hits, it hits hard, and there are a few tracks that land. But when it doesn't it just seems lifeless, or at least not super engaging, and that's when the repetitive groove gets tired for me. Heard a bunch of Bowie-inspired sounds and melodies, which in my book ain't a bad thing. But, taken as a whole, this is an album that doesn't merit the bump to a 4. We have this record in our CD collection (Marianne's contribution), so I was familiar with it, and my sentiments here reflect what I thought when I first listened to it. Good tunes for a party mix if you get to select the winners.
This was actually pretty good. Probably my favorite EDM album I've listened to.
Best song is New york, I love you. Other than that the songs were decent but nothing worthy of noting. Would need to listen to it again to fully appreciate it
downloaded song 3 it was ok
Been waiting for this one. Almost as interedting as I expected, but not quite as good. New York I Love You did not set the average quality of the album. 3
Several bangers but several borers as well
A bit dull
Y'a du electro/dance music intéressant là-dedans, rien de trop gossant. Me donne des vibes de Fatboy Slim, style intéressant.
Pretty cool record. No stand-out tracks or hooks but I think I would listen to this again as an ambient album. It has a weird 80s vibe for something from the early-2000s.
This has a lot in common with Krautrock - repetitive beats and synths, with minimal variation. I want to dislike it, but actually quite like it.
Better than I thought. Huge british savoir fair and Incredibly well mixed and nice mix of new and old sounds. Lcd Soundsystem definitely knows what he is doing.
pretty decent album, unique in its style but not that outstanding to me
Mwah, thee are doing there best, heavy bassist and so on, sound nice
funky! very mid 2000s indie got good beep boops I like this!!
Yea it’s fine
This is alright alternative music. It reminds me a lot of The Killers in the way the lead sings/sounds. This was alright. Some songs were better than others; was thinking a light 4, but there were more "ok" songs than anything else. A strong 3/5
muy entretenido. más creativo que el típico edm. linda producción.
pretty cool genre fusions, wouldn't say it sounds of silver but that doesn't make it any worse
Not as good as the 2005 album. 3½
Better than the other noise shit albums. Better than expected. Too long. Make it 38 minutes and ez 4. Every album like this wants to be 60-70 minutes long and I disavow that.
bad length. I would have loved this 10 years ago. strong 3 someone great
Some great songs but too long and repetitive 3.5
- Boppy electionic sounds are a good addition - A very fun listen but doesn't pack too much of a punch - Very quirky - All My Friends is an incredible song
Instrumentals are killer, vocals are okay, lyrics are a mix between nonsense and absurd. The songs are all much longer than I'd prefer. Many of the songs sound sort of samey to the ones that come before or after it. Overall, I can appreciate it but there's only, at most, a single song I'd come back and listen to; that being "Time to get away" specifically.
when do i get elliott smith
Before today I'd never heard of LCD Soundsystem. They are a 00's electronica/indie rock band. Not sure how I feel about that mash up of genres, but we will see. The first few songs on this album didn't impress me much, but once North American Scum rolled around, I really started warming up to their style of music. It is indeed generic indie rock with a good beat. Overall, impressed with how much I enjoyed today's album. Thought I would hate it, but it was fine. Nothing astounding, but a decent album all the same. Favourite songs: North American Scum, All My Friends, Us V Them (MORE COWBELL!!), Watch The Tapes, Someone Great Least favourite songs: "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" 3/5
Really loved like 3 of the songs, didn’t care much for the others.
definitely a strange one, an easy listen though- reminded me of the 1990s techno type music i.e., depeche mode
You can really hear the influences on this album, and they almost dip into imitation. The vocals and lyrics on certain tracks were distracting at times and the loops got exhaustingly repetitive. I feel the same way about Daft Punk though, but I do still quite enjoy them and I know the music is mostly designed to be danced to while entranced. Catchy enough to bop my head, mediocre enough not to listen to again on purpose.
Started bad, but got more interesting. Almost a 3.5.
Trochę za duży nacisk na perkusje.
Better than I expected but I didn't expect much. Something always seemed unappealing about LCD Soundsystem to me. It always seemed to be for someone else, someone kinda boring. It's a perfectly satisfying album but if you like the cadence, beat or whatever then just listen to talking heads who did the same thing better decades before.
Like the Eletronica sound this album has so far, some of the songs do go for awhile and can feel like they repeat themselves a lot. The second half of the album has been more enjoyable.
Ok. I went through a phase of liking LCD soundsystem, but found I never wanted to listen to them very often. This sounds like more of the same. It's ok, but wouldn't go mad for it.
Of all the electronic, arty farty 2000’s indie rock I’ve listened to so far, this is the least offensive. It actually borders on enjoyable some of the time. The track Someone Great reminds me of a friend who played it constantly for a while in 2012. I didn’t hate this but I didn’t swoon over it either like I remember so many people did. It’s fine, it has its place. But I’m not going to seek it out.
denna var nice!!
Highlights: Someone Great, New York, I Love You..., Watch the Tapes Leave Em's: Sound of Silver, Us V Them Overall Thoughts: There seems to be a degree of nostalgia associated with this album that I can't relate with. Basing my feelings solely off the music, I found that many of the songs were much too long and would have been much more enjoyable if delivered in half the time, while maintaining the layering of the song. I am not a huge fan of the album as a whole and am likely not going out of my way to play specific songs but it is easily comprehensible that this album could be cherished. Score Breakdown: 3.16 & 3 -> 3.080
LCD Soundsystem should have been my perfect band: edgy, self-deprecating dance/rock. But somehow we never clicked, and I understand why. Every song is the same, build-up of elements, which is initially impressive, but soon becomes tiring. They also sound like they were made on someone's bedroom PC. And I feel like the singer is trying too hard to be hip and missing a genuine emotional connection as a result. That said, I liked it when he sang about people thinking he was English.
3.3 Actually a lot better than I was expecting?? The first song I didn't rlly like too much but it picked up from there so. Fave songs: All My Friends, North American Scum
Ultimately, the album presents a mix of highs and lows, with moments of brilliance that make it worth exploring. While it may not satisfy listeners seeking a consistently exceptional experience, "Sounds of Silver" showcases LCD Soundsystem's creativity and musicality, with "North American Scum" shining as a standout track within the album. All of My Friends is also pretty good. Reminds me of early Killers.
ta cagao
Not LCD Soundsystem's best showing. It's not bad it just isn't great.
Probably my favourite LCD Soundsystem album, mostly due to the notoriety of North American Scum (and, other than being easy to identify with, it being a very catchy track). However, as an album, I always find I lose interest somewhere along the way due to the repetitive nature of affairs.
ok but repetitive
Cool electronic indie Chill and enjoyable. Aphex twin with vocals. Kinda repetitive at times but the repetitive bits were still fairly interesting
Very Talking Heads-Like
Great lyrics. Nice grooves. I like it
All my friends on erinomainen kappale, josta pidän aina. Levy on kovin samanhenkinen kuin se, mikä on kivaa, kokonaisuus siis.
i'm typically not a fan of electronica on this list, but lcd soundsystem's sound of silver was enjoyable at times for me. the repetitive nature of electronica can weigh me down, but outside of that, i recognize that the dance aspect of electronica set this album apart. dare i say some disco elements were used? if i were in a club (and not judging this album solely as part of this project), i would dig these songs! i would be dancing.
Not bad for focus / work.
Sound of Silver was excellent but the rest of the album was kind of meh.
Sommige nummers top, sommige nummers irritant
A little uneven
Not bad
Fun album, lits of strong beats, but not really my kinda flavour.
I'm on the fence with this. I can hear the musicianship in places, but why is every song incredibly long? Or at least, the repetitive nature lends itself to making most songs feel like a drag. I'd give it maybe 1 more star if it was shorter. Although, maybe not, it really isn't my kind of thing. North American Scum is of course pretty great, I know it from Top Spin 4, the tennis game. No big "Love" from me for this one.
Thought it was an alright album, had an interesting rock/electronic mix to the tracks. However, having most of the album be 5+ min tracks felt fatiguing with the repetitive beats. Sound of Silver being the most egregious of them all. Highlights: North American Scum All My Friends
I’m not 100%, but I think I’ve heard something by LCD Soundsystem in a shop at some point, and remember being quite blown away and needing to find out what the song was. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name so I can’t say I’d it’s on this album. Songs I already knew: None Favourites: North American Scum, All My Friends Ok so it turns out that I was mixing up LCD Soundsystem and Motion City Soundtrack in my preamble above. I was expecting rock music and received electronica! But that’s entirely down to my own confusion. I did enjoy this album today despite the mix up. For me, it was pleasant music to have on in the background while doing other things. It didn’t wow me enough to want to focus and actively listen to it, but it was still enjoyable in its own way. I’m not sure if I’ll be returning to listen to this again, but I’m still glad to be able to say that I’ve heard it.
Don't have much to say about this one, it wasn't bad but nothing really hooked me.
Good
Quand meme bon mais quand meme long, la derniere tiune est super . 3.85
I think this album was interesting for what it was. I may not be in the best listening space right now for this kind of electronic sort of talking instead of singing sort of music. But I thought this was refreshing. I do think this is the kind of music that blends into the background and can be easily ignored. Good or bad, that's how I feel about it. 20/20 bananas. That is to say around 3/5 stars.
That drum sound is very LCD Soundsystem
Its aight
Excited to listen tomorrow 7/10 Favorite tracks - Get Innocuous! - Someone great March 1st 2023
American version of the French Touch
It was an okay album
So this sounded very meh - like talking heads with more repetition and less energy. But All My Friends stood out before NY I love You blew me away at the end. Wish the rest of the album had held by attention like those 2 tracks Initially gave this a 2 but have edited it up to a 3 based on those tracks alone
Hearing quite a Talking Heads vibe in parts of them Album too long. At least 3 tracks should have been cut
HL: “North American Scum”, “Someone Great”, title track 3.5 February 3, 2023
Interesting mix of electronic music with vocals. The song I recognized was "north American scum", that was definitely played a lot when this album came out. I think the hidden gem was "new York I love you, but you're bringing me down", it was a good ending to the album
I wanted to hate it but it was pretty good
I had hoped I would like this album more than I did. Musically, LCD Soundsystem is pretty tight. They have a lot of musical influences that align with my interests, and their stuff can be pretty fun. But something in the mix hits me as grating. Ultimately it's a dead-hearted copy of the music it tries to emulate, even if it's well done. Fave Songs: Get Innocuous! Sound of Silver, Someone Great, Time to Get Away
Not my favourite album by them.
hmm
It's okay, can be quite interesting at times. 3/5
6,5/10
