Reviews (page 13 of 13)

Not a fan, too repetetive for my liking.

They started in 71, and I think they are still playing the first guitar solo... An hour and 18 minutes of the same exact guitar tone, same key, and same bpm for over 90% of it. This is trash. No matter how much you want to figure them for being a jam band. This is utter trash. Just a guitar player jerking it in front of hippies.

Only live songs

Just not for me

It's an old live album, so the quality was not good, the playing was interesting though

I was not vibing with this at all

Don’t like Live albums

I just don't get the appeal of these washed-out blues jams. Blues for people who hate The Blues? Seven songs, over an hour? I skipped through to You Don't Love Me. And they were right – I don't. I gave up completely after about two minutes of that particular track.

This album is criminally boring. Anything interesting is buried in 20 minute songs that do nothing for most of their duration. This probably would have been a 2 if it wasn't 70 minutes long. I don't get it. Also, the end of the album was very anticlimactic. I guess my favourite song was Stormy Monday, but I don't want to listen to any of these again.

Me aburrió

I'll be honest, I put this on while I was playing Diablo because I just knew I wasn't going to want to sit and do nothing but listen to this album. There are certainly worse things in the world to listen to, but I honestly just have zero interest in this. I really don't think any of these songs were good enough to justify extending them to be 19, 13, or 23 minutes long. Like, maybe it was a different atmosphere at the performance and that would have been neat? I don't know. But sitting here listening to this it felt like eternity and I was just waiting for it to end. At Fillmore East? 1/5 Diablo 4? 5/5

Maybe because I haven't had access to my Spotify for 4 days now and I'm cranky. Trying to listen on Youtube through my work computer doesn't help either. Have a cousin who insisted I would love these guys when we talk southern fried rock. Tried a few songs awhile back, now listened to this and I'll have to say, I just couldn't get into these guys. Sounded like just a bunch of guys jamming out. Nothing stood out and really have no interest in relistening when I do get my Spotify in order. Maybe my frustration is clouding my thoughts, but this is a pass for me. 1

I haven’t heard much by the Allman Brothers Band before. I know Jessica (thanks to Guitar Hero) which is great, but that won’t be found on this album. It’s a live album too - I worry that you already need to be a fan of a band most of the time to enjoy a live album. But let’s listen and find out! Songs I already knew: none Favourites: none I did finish this album, but it was irritating to listen to. It reminded me of when I went to see the Black Crowes and they’d extend a sound by a good 15 minutes to have a long, drawn out guitar solo. This is very much the vibe of this album. There are only seven songs, but the album is 80 minutes long thanks to the overlong guitar solos. I’ll never listen to this again. I don’t see any appeal to this.

I like the Allman Brothers. Can’t remember if we had a studio album of theirs yet but if not I’ll look forward to that one as being the first Allman brothers album I listen to on this list.

Tedious.

I'm glad they seemed to be having a good time

So boring - possibly the most boring album so far....I can't stand this pointless blues noodling

I'm sorry. The music starts fine, but the soloing/noodling quickly gets tired. I was just going to with a don't really like it rating, but the longer it droned on, the more distasteful and annoying it got. It was a real struggle to get through all this.

Folky, groovy

Live generic blues, is it? CBA

oh god its a live blues rock album. It's actually surprisingly tolerable if you just go ahead and ignore it, which is pretty easy to do. God I wish this stupid guitar solo would stop. Dear lord, its me. I am trapped in this neverending blues extravaganza. Down here, a Hammond organ and the blandest overdriven guitars do basic pentatonic solos with occassional blues notes follwed by 1 4 5 4 progressions. There is no color. There is respite. There is no where to hide. Only the blues. This was like 15 mins of music stretched out to almost 2 and a half hours.

Not a fan of live albums

Boring. This was my first impression more than 20 years ago when I heard it for the first and only time up to now. Three tracks in and that first impression is confirmed. Will bear patiently with it until the end, but I don't see my point being changed anytime soon. Verdict: A master-bating exercise in fake blues.

I listened to enough of this growing up that I feel like my 50% is like other’s 200% in this case. I have such a predisposition against southern rock that makes it hard to get around that.

One of these songs is 19 minutes and I enjoyed six seconds of it, it's just sort of background noise I cannot connect to.

This would be so much better if there wasn't so many longer songs. I don't know if that's supposed to add anything sentimental to the album, but it doesn't do it for me. They are genuinely very good, the songs are just so long.

I didn’t hate it but I wouldn’t listen to it again. 2.5 / 5 stars
