Reviews (page 12 of 12)

Decent background music to do homework, make out, or read a book by if you’re a cooler than thou 90’s goth. I remembered one song. I know lots of my friends had this album but it wasn’t for me. I do like This Mortal Coil tho …

This doesn't really do anything for me. Too fluffy and flighty. I respect the effort to try and do something new and different back in the 90s. I might have even had a cassette tape off one of their albums. I liked the songs on it more than this one.

It was really good. But not special in any way. Still fun to listen to.

Too dreamy and a bit annoying

Not my favourite but was OK for background music. A bit samey.

This one was meh for me. All of the songs blurred together into one long weird tune. Were they speaking english? Is this an english-only list? I do think this album would be a great soundtrack to a 80’s outer space sci-fi romance movie, or a french film about outdoor rock climbing, but not for leisurely listening

Not my vibe

High-pitched, reedy, thin vocals, not much instrumentation to get excited about - a channel changer.

It’s fine

oh miserable

For an album on this list a bit too boring for me, sorry!

Interesting sound that could have been incorporated into a greater combination of sounds. Having this sound be the primary identification is boring and repetitive.

Großer (Synthesizer-)Klangbreimatsch mit zu vielen Effekten. Kann ich nicht so viel mit anfangen.

It feels like listening to nothing. The album changed over to their next album and I didn't notice for 20 minutes. That being said, it's not bad listening to it, I just forgot I was listening to music. If that makes any sense...

Not for me

Meh. Kind of Danny Elfman like, but not as good.

Meh. 90s at its most boring.

I don't get why it's on that list. It's not bad but it sounds like some generic 90's songs.

interesting, pretty cool.

Was slightly disappointed by this album. Not sure why I just am.

Not my style

If halves were a thing I would have given this a 2.5 but they aren’t. I just can’t fully give it a 3. I liked it though.

Better than I remember, but not really my jam.

This feels very dated. And what are they saying?

Solid effort, not really my jam, but can tell there's talent in there. Love some of the bass lines.

Unimpressive. Muddy, undistinguished sound. Probably well suited to become elevator music or some other background sound track that no one really cares about. It's not objectionable, but I'd give it a "2" just because it's useless.

Didn't enjoy this - couldn't tell what language they were siniging in, and all of the songs were overly surreal sounding and dreamy for my taste. That said, the songs were actually songs and were musical, which ranks this album far higher than many of the albums in this list. Some of which are just random assortments of noises.

Too much phaser, but album has a few decent songs

I had no idea underworld also made music with instruments

I like it when people come out and say what they mean, they don't do this. They use sounds of words, I suppose getting to the crux of music as a language. 2nd halves produce more meaning. This is a sound but not a very full one.

Strange, doesn't sound like english but is. Didn't like too much

The Cure meets Tegan and Sara.

What could be more overwhelmingly pop than an entire album that literally ended with a fade out? It feels poppy as heck, added with some unnecessary elements (which make it "dream pop"). I can dig those elements - the distortions, the drunken vocals, the synths... but it's too easy to overdo those things. A pop album that's not even as catchy as a pop album should.

a little boring

Couldn't get into it. There were too many moments where I just checked out. It's not the worst thing I've heard on here, but it didn't click with me.

feel like if i were depressed and walking around central in the winter this album would have done more for me

Felt like I was listening to ABBA, only not as fun and enjoyable. You know who else is Scottish? The Jesus and Mary Chain. Those guys are good, these folks, not so much. Thankful this album was less than 40 minutes. I was really surprised at the bands that showed up on Spotify, right after this album ended. Velvet, Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain. At least I got to listen to some good music after the album ended. Felt like I was hearing the same song over and over again. Maybe I was but at this point, let's just end this review. Remined me of ABBA, but ABBA is good. No good songs. Will not revisit. Definitely not rock. Slightly better than the swift chick. 2

This sort of dream-pop isn't normally my thing. I often find it repetitive and boring and this album has its moments like that, however there are just as many interesting moments too. I kinda dig the ethereal sound this album has but I really like the vocals. Really beautiful and agile without sounding yodel-y. By the end I was pretty over it though. It does feel longer than its runtime. I'd say I don't hate this but I don't really like it either. I saved a few songs that I might not skip. 2

No idea what she was singing about. It might as well have been in French. It wasn't offensive, but it wasn't very good either.

This rating is for the vocals. The tracks get four stars.

Not really for me b

No, couldn't understand a thing at all. I did enjoy the instrumentation and overall sound of this album, but couldn't get over the fact I couldn't understand any of the lyrics at all.

Inoffensive, but largely "meh"

An ok album. certainly not one I need to come back to

an unusual album. heaven or las vegas has a dreamy quality that's unlike anything i've heard. the cocteau twins leaned into their ethereal sound. the whole album contributed to the same float-y, vague ambience. actually, i think it hurt them overall since the songs became a whimsical tangle. the imperceptible vocals weren't much help; a lot of it was mumbling. still, didn't hate this album.

Three people in a band called Cocteau Twins? And none of them are named Cocteau?? What other lies are they telling us

Not horrible.

Nothing spectacular and wouldn’t listen again. No sound or lyric grabbed my attention and felt pretty same same 3/10

"Fotzepolitic" was the most notable track on a listenable, but altogether forgettable, album. It's obvious that these guys listened to nothing but ABBA and just didn't have the chops to pull off the same level of execution.

For the first song I was kind of hopeful this might be a Cocteau Twins album I'd enjoy. Almost felt a little new wavey. But nope, I'm still not a fan.

A decent album that sounded familiar to The Cure, at least from the Disentigration album. Felt like middle of the road rock/pop. Nothing to write home about. I'm now seeing they are a UK band and now it's all making sense.

If you seek to really understand modern popular music, apparently 1/500th (at least) of the work you'll do is Cocteau Twins. This is quite surprising to me, given that practically every song sounds the same. Odd! Title track was cool though

This is fine but pretty inconsequential. I would not listen to this again as it made no impression on me at all.

Has a nice voice, but there's too much going on to my taste. I did enjoy the "Pitch the baby song" tho.

Ei lähtenyt lentoon

Advanced proge-Abba. 2/5

Interesting sound.

Feel bad giving Cocteaus/Liz Frazer just 2 out of 5 stars, but this album just isn't that good. It is even one of worst albums Cocteau's made in my opinion. The tension is gone, it is sweet as icecream. Previous album Treasure e.g. is one of most beautiful albums ever. 5 stars. With band Slowdive Cocteau Twins are the true heroes of dreampop/shoegazer music. And what Liz did with This Mortal Coil (Song to the Siren!) and Massive Attack is unforgettable. But this one: no. Too bad 1001 picked this album with quite forgettable music.

Inoffensive but a bit bland and forgettable

Fairly droning and not very interesting to me, can't see why it's on this list myself.

There wasn't anything particularly bad but it was really forgettable for me. Like I already don't remember anything from the album. Singing voices were nice enough but 0 songs to hook me in

Pretty bland, not really my style

For sure not my thing.

Nothing here did anything for me. Wasn't bad particularly but won't be going back. Big meh

Cool. No idea what they're saying, but cool. That's it. It's inoffensive. Its okay. It's music.

Not sure what to make of this. What genre was it even! Alternative pop? Doubt I will be listening again.

I already forgot I listened to this album yesterday, not memorable at all. At least I didn't remember it sounding bad, so I'm not giving it one star but two

Another unknown Scottish alt rock band. This generator has a slight obsession with them lately apparently. Never heard of Cocteau Twins before. After researching them a bit this morning I learned they are another fucking shoegaze/dream pop band, and are accredited with helping start the dream pop sound. Now, I've been known to hate shoegaze, so I went into this with low expectations. This "dream pop" is different though. It is like that mopey goth rock /shoegaze garbage in song structure, but with a warmer, more upbeat vocal delivery and more jangly guitars. One weird thing about this band is that the vocals are layered so much that you can't understand what she is saying. It sounds like she is singing in a foreign language. As odd as that sounds, the vocal layering adds a etherial aspect to the music. The singer has a beautiful voice, kind of like Enya in some respects. That added beauty is welcome over the backing shoegaze shuffling garbage. It is like goth but with "hope". Overall, a weird listen today. Not terrible, but not really in my wheelhouse. I understand it's place in the grand scheme of music, but I probably won't revisit it again. Favourite songs: Heaven or Las Vegas, Wolf in the Breast, Iceblink Luck, Fotzepolitic Least favourite songs: "Road, River and Rail", Cherry-coloured Funk, Fifty-fifty Clown 2/5

A lot of artists I love are heavily influenced by the Cocteau Twins, so I was excited to finally actually listen to them! Unfortunately I don't like them that much. The instrumentation is so dated to the early 90s, and not in a good way. And I really don't like the singer's voice. It's possible this is intentional, but she's not in tune with the instrumentation a lot (especially bad on the opening track Cherry-coloured Funk). Also, the amount of jangling triangles is out of control...

Not really for me - very shoegaze. I don’t find it exciting or appealing.

Listening to this, I now know what English sounds like to someone who does not speak or understand the language. The music itself was ok but nothing really memorable jumped out at me.

I couldn’t really name anything they had done before listening to this album and still can’t.

Couldn't get thru the whole thing. Wasn't the vibe for the day

It just aint My thing

I said this about the other Cocteau Twins album we had later on, listening out of sync; dream pop and laid-baid electronica doesn't do much for me so Heaven Or Las Vegas gets limited mileage. Objectively fine and easy to have in the background, but I need more from my music. 2.

The best thing about this album is that it was only 37 minutes long. You cannot understand the lyrics. The music itself is just eh. It is not good. No reason to relisten.

A fine enough listen for background music but I'm not sure what I gained musically by its inclusion on this list. The lyrics were indistinguishable and the sound was very similar song to song. A very "I can take it or leave it" album

Pretty boring vocals that faded into background music quickly. No business on this list.

Despite coming out in 1990, this album solidly represents the 80s with that nebulous piano chord driven 2-chord power ballad format.

At least it was short. They get an extra star for that.

Just not my vibe

It was kinda mid

New to me, and not bad, but not my cup of tea.

meh. 2/5

I enjoyed the melodies, but preferred the earlier Cocteaus with the impossible lyrics. It felt like some of the magic and mystique had been removed. This album drifted and passed me by - which was probably the intention.

I can't hear the words clearly enough to understand what they are singing, or even what language it is. It's very un-engaging to my senses, despite trying to listen to the album I just found that I tuned it out. I realized that I had tuned out that I didn't even remember listening to 5 of the tracks.

Slow new wave, songs sounded very similar.

only sound and nonsense <333

Man....I like the IDEA of shoegaze....but I just can't get myself to enjoy it

90's Cocteau Twins? No thank you! I don't even like 80's Cocteau Twins when they were arguably worth listening to. It's just dreary and bland. Pointless really.

Title track is the best one, I think? This was a hard one to rank. I wasn't really hooked or struck by anything, but I didn't *mind* it, per se. I dunno. Wouldn't seek it out, but not offensive.

Nothing special

I didn't really care for this album. I tried to listen to it but found myself zoning out and doing other things instead of listening. The album couldn't keep my attention at all. I went back a little bit later to listen to it but the same thing happened.

All the song sound so similar and I did not enjoy the style 2/5

Decent but not good. Very funky and poppy but nothing memorable

Best Song: Iceblink Luck. Nice groove. Nice rhythm. Worst Song: Wolf in the Breast. At a certain point, this sleepy temp starts to lose its lustre. Overall: Relaxed music that is at times too wispy and ethereal for my tastes. I can understand how some might like this style of music, but I don't.

Not distinct. It’s nice but I don’t understand the inclusion

2.5 / 5 Some good vibes. Need to hear more of it.

Never engaged me. I couldn’t make out the lyrics of any of the songs, and the ethereal tone of the music didn’t move me.

Kind of cool in places and I think it's probably someone's gold dust - but it really isn't mine

Frou Frou was really the only song I liked but there was nothing offensive so it gets a two

Quite a quick listen, one which passed without much notice. Not that I didn't like it, but just not my type of music. Some good songs but an overall repetative sound which I wasnt too keen on. Can see how others really like this kind of music.

Twee twiddlee twaddlee - too lightweight for me

p634. 1990. 2 stars Instantly recognisable, lovely sound and production but... it's all a bit samey. Becomes background noise very quickly and there are no real standout tunes. Perfectly unremarkable 90's cocktail bar music. Not on the replay list.

I think this is what they call "dream pop" - vaguely shoegazey, a bit trite, all sounds the same. Even at 37 minutes I got bored. 2/5.

Clearly a defining album of dream pop and shoegaze. I get a little tired of it for a while album, but the individual songs are pristine. It's really good, but it's also rare I want to listen to this kind of music.

Listened 4 times throughout the day. Not exactly odious, but a bit flat for me. FT: Frou-frou Foxes in Midsummer Fires Cherry-coloured Funk

Just OK. Probably wouldn't listen again

Listened before?N Unintelligible and nonsensical lyrics do nothing for me.

Hearing a lot of Lush and Siouxsie, but it's not my jam.

Las Vegas is a city in Nevada, USA, at 36.1699° N, 115.1398° W. It has an average July high temperature of 104°F. The city also is known as a destination for those seeking legalized gambling, prostitution, and marijuana, and has been nicknamed "Sin City." So apparently these Scottish lasses got understandably confused. Heaven, being a common religious cosmological or transcendent supernatural place where beings such as gods, angels, souls, saints, or venerated ancestors are said to originate, be enthroned, or reside, is often paired with its antithesis, hell. As in "heaven or hell." I'm not sure if the Cocteau Twins had been to Las Vegas when they wrote this album. The city, and I guess much of Nevada, can appear a bit hellish, but I don't believe the "Entertainment Capital of the World" the actual underworld. But anyway, the Cocteau Twins' "Treasure" was the 17th album we received. Now 153 albums later, I get to wonder why they have two albums on the list. Though actually, I don't totally hate this one. Except I do hate the way it sounds. Which is weird. I think a lot of the song structures have potential. But I don't like their singing, and don't like some of the instrumentation within the arrangements (this probably makes no actual music sense). I think what would be really interesting is to have another band cover these songs. A better band.

This band isn't my styl.

This is probably someone's favourite album. But not mine. Not exactly unpleasant, but a bit too wishy-washy for me.

Not my thing. All of the songs sounded the same to me. I would listen to it if someone else put it on but I was relieved when it ended.

Eh? A bunch of the same non-descript soft alt rock. Nothing really memorable or engaging at all. Not really "bad" to sit through (it was short) but also nothing redeeming either

Why is this a must listen? It's not awful, but I can think of many synth-pop albums that could be on a list of must listen, this would not be one.

Nothing remarkable about it. I listened on Friday and now (Monday), thinking about what to write about the album, the only word is forgettable. Not totally bad, just forgettable!

Good vibes but needed more 2.4

female singer psychedelic-y slowish can't tell the songs much apart

Treasure was heaps better

This one just didn't stick. Dream pop is not a genre I spend a lot of time with, but I really liked the synth and bass sound of this record. While it definitely sounds dated, you can tell the music is a precursor to a lot of the sounds we hear from indie pop today. Unfortunately, that's where the fun stops for me because I just couldn't understand a damn word the singer was trying to get through. I get that this was probably intentional and that the sounds of her voice were probably more important, and it sounds like she is a really great vocalist, but it added absolutely nothing to the experience for me. The only word that I could use to summarize is "puzzled".

Meh. Didn't hate them. Probably wouldn't listen again.

The best thing about the Cocteau Twins is that their brand of dream pop laid the groundwork for better bands like Lush and My Bloody Valentine, (whether Kevin Shields admits it or not). Actually, Heaven Or Las Vegas isn't awful, exactly. The band manages some interesting textures, the singing ain't bad, the melodies could be worse, etc., but there's zero grit to balance out all of the cotton candy, and too much cotton candy will make you sick. The drum machines don't help either.

I had a hard time getting into this album but, strangely, I wanted to like it. I like her voice. The frustrating part was that I couldn't understand the words she was singing. I still wanted to like this album so I looked up the lyrics. Unfortunately, finding the lyrics did not help my understanding of the lyrics one inch. The music sounds like it's being played on a cloud and reading the lyrics made me feel like my brain was a cloud.

Nice enough but essentially background music

A pleasant enough listen. Couldn't make out much in the way of lyrics, but understand that may be deliberate. Acceptable background music, but not much more than that. Got a bit of a Lightning Seeds vibe in places.

"Heaven or Las Vegas" or "Iceblink Luck"

Prescindible. Ni molesta ni divierte. Olvidable.

Felt like the 90s all over again.

Growing on me and becoming familiar after a few listens over the weekend. Fotzepolitic and I Wear Your Ring are favs. Liked when it went acoustic

the album finished playing and I didn't notice ahha

This is like if some aliens sang 80s songs in an alien language. It's kind of magical, but I don't know that I ever need to hear it again.

pollege, leggera.. ma non rimane

Soft, repetitive & poppy. Not for me

people were not listening to this in the 90s

Not my usual listening. Not offensive but would only prob have as background music

One hit album

This is apparently highly critically regarded, which tells you all you really need to know about music critics.

Such a whimsical band, lovely vibey music. Fav song is ‘Heaven or Las Vegas’.

I kept waiting for this to get better but it never did. Boring and repetitive.

1.3/5 The music was ok but I love listening to the lyrics and since they weren't all in English I found it hard to connect too.

una verga

Open tracks don't hit for me. Too synth with high vocals. The words and music are blurry together. Four songs in, nothing to like. Not horrible, but not worth listening to. I want to skip a lot. Even the "hit" which is also th title track is blah.

😟 again?!?!?!?

Not my thing. I don't real like her vocals and the whole thing was very flat for me

It’s ok

Defined a sound, never heard of any of there songs. Sometimes being the first doesn't mean being the best

No es fue de mi gusto. No me termino de convencer.

10 canciones, solo me gustó: - heaven or las vegas No me gustó para nada

Maybe just not my taste but I thought it was awful from beginning to end.

Not my jam at all!

??? oh weh was war das denn shiegaze...c

Not good. Not good at all. Fucking same 3-4 song just changed everything so slightly with different lyrics. They should feel bad. O.75/10. %

I won’t understand the person who listens to this album for fun. This is the album you put on when you light candles all over the bathroom, draw a hot bath and get in with a bottle of wine and a belly full of Prozac because you bullied your dads new girlfriend in high school and now he won’t let you go on the ski trip in Switzerland and now your best friend is definitely going to fuck your boyfriend. There is better Cocteau Twins albums

This was awful in every way

Cocteau...like the French playwright? Another skippable album from the list for me here. The author really likes Morrissey and the Scots for some unknown reason. These entries are not worthy. Heaven or Las Vegas (Hell?) is nothing special and it's the 6th album from the band; not sure what lands it on the list. I guess it is not the worst but I have zero to report...1.25 stars.

Fine, not my thing

Fuck this person for not being able to come up with anything better than albums like this.

What a strange album. Ethereal and a very alternative sound, even for the 90s. Something I've experienced once, and will leave at one experience. It's not bad, but it's definitely not my cup of tea. 3/10

Sorry, but just boring

Not my favorite! Mellow, feels psychedelic. I did add 1 to my liked songs. 1/5 ⭐️

Intensely thin and top-end emphasis on the overall sound, which I found very distressing. The music is not really to my taste either, but the horrible plasticky treble boost feels like fingernails on a chalkboard in my ears. Tried listening with regular stereo setup, with DAC + headphones (Fiio K5 Pro + Beyerdynamic DT-990 250ohm) and even laptop speakers; the last was the most inoffensive, but also horribly flat. Didn't make it through this album.

I found it to just be boring bland pop. With a voice so high I couldn't make out a lot of words. I didn't hate it, but to me it was absolutely not memorable in any way. It shouldn't even be rated.

Onbegrijpelijke vrouw

No thanks

At least it was only 37 minutes long.

It is a shame that of all the music in the world that could have made the list I keep having to listen to crap.

This album is suitable for playing to your rabbits in their hutches to calm them down. I can’t think of any more suitable times when you might want to put the 35 mins into listening. There is no best track as it all sounded like one long song which lasted 35 mins Sorry Cocteau twins it’s not for me I enjoyed Leibach’s album Opus Dei more than this and that’s saying something.

I remember listening to some of their stuff back in the day, but can't say I remember much of it. I like the song "Pitch the Baby" more than "Cherry-coloured Funk". Really can go forever without hearing the first track again. It wasn't awful in a "ugh this is terrible" way, but I just did not like it. However, based on just these 2 tracks, I'm thinking one listen is all I will ever need of this album. "Iceblink Luck" is worse than track 1. I'm trying real hard not to skip it, but I may fail. Not sure I'll make it through all 10 tracks. I did make it through all 10 tracks. They range from okay to nope and overall, forgetable.

1, not my thing

It's not even a real language. Just random noises over a dreamy airy track. The songs are pretty much nothing. Best song: Wolf In The Breast

Album 904 of 1089 Cocteau Twins - Heaven Or Las Vegas (1990) Rating : 1 / 5 I’ve tried with this band before, and once again I just can’t find my way into their sound. Shoegaze/dream pop simply isn’t my genre, and the most apt word I can use for it is “boring.” It has a lazy, drifting feel that never really connects with me. I know this album is considered a classic within its style, and I can appreciate the layered soundscapes and Elizabeth Fraser’s ethereal vocals for what they are. But personally, it just isn’t something I enjoy. Sorry to the shoegaze fans out there — this one missed me completely.

weichgespültes Nichts

Not for me

I had no idea what anyone was saying through a good chunk of this album. I like paying attention to lyrics, so it would be lovely to be able to hear them. They aren't even on Genius because it turns out someone (the band?) got grumpy they were incorrect. You know how you fix that, Cocteau Twins? Enunciate! The vocals annoyed me so much, this is getting a 1, even though it would probably have got a mid-table obscurity 2 or 3 otherwise.

Very dream like, heavy on the synth, with a slight dash of pop. Can't really say any of the tracks stood out for me though, and I don't think I'll be listening again.

I didn’t enjoy this album. I vocals are very low in the mix. I could barely understand the lyrics and at times I couldn’t even understand what language it was in

not feeling it

Ni fu ni fa

This album was not for me. I just couldn't connect with it.

Sorry, just noises. Completely hollow of any meaning or hook or interest

Not quite rock, in the conventional sense

Musically very sound, and kinda catchy. But holy crap …. Charlie Browns teacher is easier to understand. If I could just understand them without having Apple Music lyrics on the screen ….

it´s not my kind of music

Not 4 m3

'Dream pop'? Nightmare more like. If this is indeed "their most accessible album" I sincerely hope there aren't any more of them on this list.

At least these songs have actual words so it's better than the last album which had some songs with gibberish lyrics. Back to the gibberish lyrics. The 80s gave rise to some really bad music. There are no lyrics available on Spotify....shocking. This is like if The Cure decided to replace Robert Smith with a woman and make mouth sounds instead of actual words. It's Cure adjacent, but it's worse, I'm sure they love the Cure though.

No words

It was very hard to get all the way through this one.

Not into this unfortunately, dream pop is not for me

1. cherry - 2 2. baby - 1 3. luck - 1.5 4. clouun - 1 5. heaven - 1.5 6. ring - 1.5 7. politic - 1 8. uuolf - 1.5 9. road - 1 10. fozez - 1.5

I found this boring and depressing. Not really my thing.

Miserable listen

I have tried to 'get' this album several times in my life. I don't think there will be another.

Not for me. 1/5

Listened to a couple tunes. Not my thing

Eh. This pushed my limits and I didn’t really care for it at all.

Ruined my good streak, fuck

Note sure how this made the list. Had to turn it off - awful

I get why people love it, musically it is fantastic, but honestly not my jam at all. Should you listen to it at least once in your life? Yes.

Kind of boring and ultra repetitive

Nah bruh

Can't remember, but I did not like it

Some hippie delusional style music... Not the good kind of out of this world music but.

Fell asleep during that shit! Sounded like French music...

who is this for? certainly not me. i've listened to background music more captivating than this.

Snore fest

I have never "got" The Cocteau Twins and after listening to what is supposedly their most accessible album, I still don't get this Dream-pop sound. The entire album is just 37 minutes of distorted guitars, drum machines, echo boxes and tape loops with Elizabeth Fraser's operatic vocals that are barely recognisable as language.

This album wasn’t for me, didn’t like it at all

Great background music

Naaah this ain't it. 1.4

Not for me

Too Pop-Electronica for me. No interest. 1/5

Stick a fork in my eye and get me out of here.

Not my thing. Really didn't enjoy the sound of the singer's voice. I won't go as far as calling it "grating" but it nearly was. Almost couldn't finish the album.

Two Cocteau Twins albums in the first 200? What did I do to deserve this????

Not very melodic

It’s ok. Chill music

Boring. Felt like white noise.

💤💤💤

I don't think this is English. I like lyrics too much.

Not my thing

Felt like a soundtrack to a drug film

Not my thing at all

Not for me. But would be an easy listening category.

Didn't like

Pleasant enough.

I did not particularly enjoy this. Good singing I guess? Boring overall.

Bland and forgettable. Not sure why it’s on this list

Other reviews say airy and ephemeral which is true But also boring, hard to tell what they're saying, and sometimes just noisy

Didn’t click with me

Not my style

i dont like this gender so much

Not my thing

I powered through this album just so I could give it an honest review. It’s terrible. Every song sounds like it’s a foreign cover. Listen again: no Purchase for my collection: no Favourite Song: no

Quickly became background noise and interest faded away.

Uninspiring warble

Generic late 80s/early 90s dross, sounded vaguely like a mish mash of loads of other bands. Sounded tinny af as well, like it was designed to be played out of a car radio. I know I say it about every band I don't like but all their songs genuinely sounded the same!

A bit of a low for the list. Forgettable and generic, and difficult to understand.

The album has a very psychedelic and dream like sound which I was not a fan of. I really struggled to get through all of the tracks. I'm sure it was intentional but I hated the production/mixing because at times it felt like they were singing in another language.

What even is this trash?

Two Cocteau Twins albums that you must listen to before you die. If you plan to die of confused boredom, that is.

Nietszeggende zuurstokmuziek.

This album should not be on this list.

i really did not like that genre

Ballbag. Totally boring and can't understand what they are singing half the time!

I think I liked it? Like I liked how the music sounded in my ears, but I don’t know if I would ever listen again.

not going to lie, didn't give this one much of a chance. With that said, I don't give much of a chance to any album that sounds like it was made on the 1988 casio yardsale keyboard of my youth. Maybe when some other artist covers one, or all of the songs in a different context, I can come to appreciate the songwriting, but until then, it's a no for me dawg.

Not my thing, could not connect with the vocals

I listened to this in an airport and it was decent background music while waiting to board the plane. It actually ended right as they announced that the boarding process would start - so that’s cool. Otherwise, I didn’t care.

This sounds like background music at a store. With the rest of the albums on the list, I can at least see that the artist is trying to do a thing.

They literally all sound the same to me.

Sometimes you have to accept that something is just not for you. People who like Cocteau Twins really like them, almost religiously. I am not one of those people. I don't get it, any of it. Nothing stands out as particularly good or bad. It's just there, like traffic noise in the background.

No thank you

Not my thing, didn’t make it past the first track. Sorry to say.

Nah...not my cup o tea.

Zeurderig ninetees album, totaal niet fijn

Ethereal, mellow

I have listened to this already! Its one of my faves ever ^^

Boring. Repetitive. I don't see the appeal.

🌺🔥

Excellent album, beautiful singing and fine musicianship, especially love the bass work.

Hola me parece muy bueno

Funky. Liked the 2nd track a lot.
