No idea where I actually land on this one. Things I like, things I don't, so rating right in the middle.

Pleasing listen, and reminds me a lot of Bob Dylan and The War On Drugs.

Little Richard
2/5
I respect the talent and influence this album has, but it's really not for me. A lot of repetition and what feels like filler songs in between the few well known hits. Needed some pancakes with this one because these sounds are synonymous with a 50's diner in my mind.
LCD Soundsystem
4/5
Already very familiar with this album. Didn't know the band much before this came out, but I heard call the police and fell in love. Long album but very good overall. Some of the electronic parts are not my preferred type of music, but the way the band blends these with indie rock and new way stylings really work for me. Album from track 5 on is the best part to me.
Guns N' Roses
4/5
As good as I remember, rock and roll at its finest. Great riffing, killer solos, and Axel's unique vocals make this one a win for sure. Even the less popular tracks rock, and the closer is one of my favorites on the album.
Jane's Addiction
4/5
Another album I knew the singles of but hadn't listened to in full. Solid rock music overall and some fun lyrics. Nothing jumped out at me super hard, and nothing I would deem bad. Fun and funky guitar work, and solid bass lines.
Sonic Youth
5/5
Absolute masterpiece. First time I've heard in full, this sounds like all of my favorites from before and after distilled into a single album. Killer riffs, great lyrics, plenty of changeups to keep you guessing. Could not like this album more.
Pearl Jam
5/5
One of my all time favorite albums. Grew up with this one, and PJ was my favorite from the grunge scene. Hugely influential on my overall music tastes. Album absolutely holds up to this day, and one I listen to regularly. Great instrumentals. Heartfelt and often devastating lyrics that I didn't understand as a kid, but do now. Love Vedders vocal style, inspired a lot of copycats, but none can do it like he does.
Isaac Hayes
3/5
Album is a very solid soundtrack. My biggest complaints are: Isaac doesn't sing enough, and it just makes me want to watch the movie.
Jeff Beck
2/5
A little all over the place. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Hearing sounds that are on display better in other albums that came out this year. Lyrics didn't grab me either unfortunately.
DJ Shadow
5/5
Incredible album, well deserving of the praise it gets. Fun to just listen to on its own, but doubly fun to look up the samples and see what you recognize. Also, extra respect for the Twin Peaks references.
Tom Waits
4/5
Love the way this feels like a live album. Funny and poignant at times. Wish there was a little more musically going on, but at the same time I think this works well.

Very fun album and one I would have loved had it came out 2 years later when I first really got into indie rock. Probably the catchiest album we've had so far. Only real complaint is a couple of the tracks are a bit same-y.
The Pogues
5/5
Meat Loaf

Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Sounds like a distilled album of the music Bruce created up to this point, in a good way. Solid songs that reference the past, but evolve beyond it. Only real complaint is it's a bit long.
Beastie Boys
4/5
Depeche Mode
4/5
Can see why this was their breakout album. Very moody but upbeat at the same time. Reminds me a lot of their contemporaries, but also having a sound and style unique to them.
The Doors
4/5
Aerosmith
1/5
Album did basically nothing to sway my already mostly negative opinion on the band. Also opens with my second most disliked song of theirs.
Kanye West
3/5
Great production and enjoyed many of the features. Interesting takes on the genre scattered throughout. Some of the lyrical content hasn't aged well.
Kate Bush
3/5
Some very pleasing sounds and good song writing, but also some big misses. Odd vocal changeups that sound very off. Appreciate some of the poetry and literary references I found when looking up the album.
Prefab Sprout
4/5
Not a genre of music I often seek out, but when I do it's always a pleasant listen. Never heard of this band before, but thoroughly enjoyed my time discovering them.
Grateful Dead
4/5
Cocteau Twins
5/5
Love this album, sounds great and enjoyable throughout. No real complaints from me.
Supergrass
4/5
Solid listen overall. Can hear where it came from, and what it helped inspire very clearly. A style of rock that is very nostalgic to me, yet I had never heard this album before.
Parliament
5/5
Short and sweet funky ride through space.
The Last Shadow Puppets

3/5
Fun album overall, but very long and a lot of songs about the same subject.

Super Furry Animals
4/5
Just like supergrass, very easy to hear where it came from, and what it helped inspire, which happen to be some of my favorite music in both directions.
David Gray
4/5
Pleasing listen, and reminds me a lot of Bob Dylan and The War On Drugs.
Ramones
4/5
Short and sweet classic punk. Some of the songs blend together a bit, but in this case that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Tears For Fears
4/5
My Bloody Valentine
5/5
Crossing one off the backlog with this listen. Very enjoyable experience, great comeback album that you can easily get lost in. Heavier and more distorted than their earlier efforts, in the best way. The song nothing is was an anomaly - I listened multiple times and just can't wrap my head around it.
Aerosmith
3/5
Much better than anticipated. Some of the bigger hits have worn out their welcome. I like how song styles change pretty frequently to mix things up. Last track kind of soured the overall experience.

Solid debut. The voices still bug me a bit but the songwriting is clever and often funny. Masters of sampling.
Big Star
4/5
Much darker than I anticipated. Solid songs, and their influence can easily be heard from this album, especially with The Replacements.
