This is a very typical Bob Dylan sound and yes, his voice sounds like sandpaper. This really widens my music repertoire and I'm glad I got to know his work.

You don't often get a divorce album that leaves you 100% on the side of the artist's ex. Just picture Sara Dylan playing "Idiot Wind" at the filing. Every time Bob goes "whoooaaaaaaaaaaa" on "You're a Big Girl Now" I picture him going down a really steep roller coaster. And now you'll hear that every time too.

Blood on the Tracks genuinely moved me in a way other Dylan albums have not. Beautiful, poetic, personal and emotional, you can feel the anguish and longing through Dylan’s expressive singing and sparse arrangements. A marvellous achievement and one to surely offer greater rewards the more life you have lived.

It's Bob Dylan. Which, to me, means that the real star of this album is the lyrics--to absolutely no one's surprise. I listened to this album once without focusing on the lyrics. Then listened again with an ear for the narratives. And suddenly--incredible. Witchcraft! I love Bob Dylan because I'm a lyrics-driven listener but I don't think this is the very finest album Dylan ever produced. That said...it's still an album from one of the greatest songwriters of all time--arguably THE best--so it's still a 4/5 for me. Fave track: Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts

This album is sweeping and lively. It features some of Dylan’s best and most confessional vocals (though Dylan himself would say otherwise). The music itself is textured and warm lending a nostalgic folk rock feel to the album. In the aftermath of the singer songwriter phenomenon on the late sixties early seventies, this album shows that Dylan was still very much his own force, and simply a cut above the rest

Tangled up in Blue. ..this is great Simple Twist of Fate...this is also great Third track...this is not good Fourth track...goes on forever...boring Fifth...yes he is back on track Sixth, seventh and eight...nope this is plain boring Shelter from the storm...this is good Final song...nope The good song are really good, the rest is not so good. His voice can be very annoying, I hate the Hammond organ.

Blood on the Tracks is the 15th album by folk rock singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. The album has been acclaimed as one of Dylan's greatest by both critics and fans. It reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015, and remains one of Dylan's best-selling releases, with a double-platinum rating in the US. The lyrics talk of love affairs and broken hearts, from the beautiful gravelly voice of Dylan. The music backing the lyrics is subdued and fits the vibe of the album nicely. A mature Bob Dylan knew better than to over-produce the sound of this album. This paid off for him, as now this album is seen as one of his best, and is considered a comeback album too. I'm not normally a fan of folk rock or slow singsongy music, but this album complimented the rainy, cold weather I'm experiencing outside the window of my office.

I guess i've mellowed to Bob Dylan. Was much better then i was expecting.

Bob Dylan can just flat out tell a story in his music. I get the people who just "don't like his voice" but I find it interesting and even if it was the worst ever, the stories are still just flat out stellar.

Finally! Only 138 albums in and I finally get some Bob! I’ve waded through so much shit to get here. Anyways… This is a more seasoned Bob, a reflective Bob. We still get plenty of his folksy charm, but there’s more effortless polish on this album. It’s cohesive in tone throughout and it flows beautifully from one track to the next. It’s confessional and self-aware even if Bob insists that it’s not meant to be. He can’t help it, he writes from the very base of his soul. He doesn’t just leave blood on the tracks he leaves his whole heart. It’s at an interesting new place in his life and I dig his perspective on it at this point in his career. It’s impressive and inspiring.

Tangled up in Blue and Simple Twist of Fate are good songs. But not my favorite Dylan album. More classic than Time Out of Mind, IMO.

My “first” Dylan album, and still my favourite. There are, of course, better individual tracks throughout his career, but as a group, these work best. Something different about the sound that is not captured elsewhere

I'm not a fan of Bob Dylan or the acoustic, folky sound. However, this album has grown on me somewhat. It's decent and you can't deny the influence and importance of Dylan's work.

I mean it’s Bob Dylan you can’t really go wrong with it can you?. Such a skilled guitarist and lyrics are just poetry. Just shows again that if you want to create good music just keep it simple.

I'm a bigger fan of Dylan's earlier works but this one is still really great. The production is stellar and it has some fantastic storytelling.

People love the lyrics more than music I guess. When not reading the lyrics, music is alright to me.

There are a couple of songs I like but overall, I am not a Dylan fan. I think I just like easier songs that are not so covered in metaphors. Probably won't listen to this album again. Saying all that, Buckets of Rain is fantastic. Can't believe I had never heard this song. Love it.

You know how a harmonica sounds really annoying and whiney? Well, on this album Bob emulates a harmonica with his voice and sometimes doubles it with a harmonica too. Just can't get past the worst voice in music. Autotune wouldn't save this either. I'm sure the lyrics are cutting but can't get past the voice.

As a kid, Dylan's voice grated on my nerves. As adult, I figured if I could get used to Tom Perry's and Stevie Nick's voices, I could get used to Bob Dylan's. I was right and now able to concentrate on the music and not the delivery, I really enjoyed this album. Added.

I was already a fan of Tangled Up in Blue and Shelter from the Storm, but I liked this album even more than I thought I would. New songs I like include Simple Twist of Fate.

I wanted to like it more than I did. It had all the right bits, but you go straight into Rambling Bob. I think I wanted a little more foreplay.

Bob Dylan practically invented the narrative 'folk pop' genre, often to great heights. The principal component of 'Blood On The Tracks' is in its storytelling; the lyrics superbly painting his tragic life journey against the emotional backdrop of an acoustic guitar. A number of Bob Dylan's albums definitely need to be listened to before you depart this world - 'Blood On The Tracks' is no exception, with its vulnerable lyricism and musical intricacy epitomizing the divine spirit of music as something to be shared.

Hi: The silence between the tracks. Lo: Tangled Up In Blue, You're a Big Girl Now, Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, pretty much the whole album I don't get it. Every Bob Dylan song is an aimless stream of consciousness that's about 4 verses too long (or until Bob gets bored with it, usually long after everyone else has), and wraps up with about 40 seconds of screeching harmonica and fade to blissful silence. Toward the end, I started not to be able to differentiate between harmonica and tinnitus. It's really unclear to me if this is his "style" or what, but I just don't like it and I don't see what's so appealing about his music.

Bob Dylan is the prototype Singer-Songwriter that so many here in the US have tried to emulate in their own ways across multiple genres since he burst on to the scene in the 1960's. While I'm largely unfamiliar songs that aren't apart of his "Greatest Hits", this album opens with Tangled Up In Blue, a very well known song that is absolutely terrific, and I think sums up everything Bob is about (musically at least) in a nice little package. Whether or not this album is actually about the disintegration of Bob's marriage at the time, you feel a lot of hurt in all of the songs. It's a certainly a heartfelt goodbye to something, and for that, this album absolutely deserves to be on the list.

Oy. His voice is so nasal, but it’s always been about the lyrics, hasn’t it? A couple of great songs about relationships. I need to listen to it again. Torn between a three (never been a huge fan of him singing his own songs) and a four (the lyrics, right?).

Wow. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this album. First, I've seen Dylan in concert twice, both times it was terrible and ruined my opinion of him. Second, this is an era of his I've never listened to before. This album is great. Masterpiece.

I feel like this album showcases Dylan's voice, sometimes to a negative effect. Sometimes he hits highs, and it can be very grating. The instrumentals are standard Dylan, sparse and stripped back. My favourite Dylan album

Solid album - more background music for me than active listening. No doubt an excellent songwriter and an album I've revisited over the years but not a favorite. Some tracks are definite gems but some that are just kinda meh. I’d give 3.5 if I could.

Pretty good; liked the narrative aspects of his songs, guess that's why he received a Nobel Prize. Distinctive voice, simple acoustics

This is not really the kind of album you can just sit back and enjoy. You can with a couple of the songs, but for the most part it takes a little bit of effort on the part of the listener. Some great stuff on this album (Tangled up in Blue is one of the best songs ever written) but it can be exhausting so unless you're in the mood for that it can be hard to enjoy.

Every Bob Dylan song sounds the same to me. Almost like his entire body of work is one long novel written by an author that doesn't know what story he is telling. I never know what the fuck he is talking about. See "Idiot Wind" Not my vibe.

This is not the best Dylan for me, but I should say that the Wikipedia article on the page helped me to understand a little bit more of the importance of this album. Being the "most" personal of Dylan's work, it's increasing my evaluation of it. Musically, it's too much country for me, but it's still Bob Dylan and it counts!

Might be my favourite Dylan album and possibly emotionally the polar opposite of another favourite, Blonde on Blonde. Accessible and really good songs. Yes, it's about heartbreak, but good music just gets you.

Thank god he turned down the volume of the harmonica from Blonde On Blonde, that could get very hard to listen to. Ok nevermind "you're gonna make me lonesome when you go" fucking killed my ears holy shit. The lyrics are really great and all, but none of the songs really hit me very hard. I think Bob Dylans music is a bit overrated, felt the same with Blonde On Blonde, except for "I Want You", that song is fucking exceptional. Some songs though, like "Lilly, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts makes me physically cringe because the intro is so horrible to listen to. And then of course a song like "If You See Her, Say Hello" comes and fucking breaks the mold. Fuck man. a 4 for that actually And "Shelter From the Storm" is quite good too. Was ready to hear a 5 but I just don't see it. An album of 3 but, If you see her, gets it to a 4 to me.

There are some artists that should only be songwriters, NOT singer-songwriters. I'm sorry to say, but Bob Dylan is one of those artists. The man CAN NOT sing! I'll bury myself even deeper by adding that Bruce Springsteen is in the same boat, IMO.

Pleasantly surprised. I'm always a bit wary of Dylan and his earnestness. Already knew Tangled Up In Blue, probably my favourite BD song, but bafflingly had never given the whole record a chance. Sonically, it's archetypal 70s folk rock; lyrically rich and it's understandable why it's held in such regard. Have moved this record into semi-regular rotation, having barely touched it since buying it 20 years ago.

Wouldn't listen to again apart from maybe the Jack of Hearts song.

Welcome back Bobby! Another classic smattering of nonsense that somehow sounds fantastic and nostalgic all at the same time. My favorite on the album was a simple twist of fate because it had all my favorite Dylanisms. Wild nonsense lyrics with wailing endings. Just reminded me of my impressions of Dylan. Overall, this was a great album. Cool album cover too, looks like a comic strip or something.

The acclaim surrounding this album is a bit intimidating. Not only is it regarded as one of Dylan's best, but as one of the best ever. I've always preferred '60s Dylan to anything newer; the true folk style suits him best. But this album has enough of that to keep me satisfied. There are few that didn't hit for me, but I was surprised by how many tracks I did enjoy. Especially "Shelter from the Storm," which I knew before hearing this. Plenty of vintage Bob Dylan on here. I totally understand the acclaim, even if it's not quite a five-star classic for me. I'd give that rating to a couple older Dylan albums. Favorite tracks: Shelter from the Storm, Simple Twist of Fate, Idiot Wind, Meet Me in the Morning. Album art: Definitely iconic in the sense that I recognize it immediately, but it's not all that special. Blurry picture, photo or painting I can't tell. The sidebar and text is nice but again, nothing special. Pretty unassuming overall. 4.5/5

Quite enjoyed it, quintessential Dylan. Tangled up in Blue is indeed good, or perhaps just familiar? I guess I should listen to the lyrics more to appreciate it more (that's what everyone says about Dylan, anyway), but to be honest, for music to really grab me the actual music needs to grab me, not just the lyrics.

Has never been my goto BD album - one really needs to be in a good mood to tolerate the singing - this appears much less of a problem with his 60s albums. But of course Blood on the Tracks is solid and contains quite a few classic Bob Dylan songs. And it is not possible to give an album with Tangled Blue and Idiot Wind anything less than 4 stars, so 4 stars it is.

After a few songs my impression is that the songs and the music are very good, but I can't get used to Dylan's singing style.

bob dylan has always been pretty hit or miss for me, and this record is no exception. except in this case the hits greatly out way the misses, tangled up in blue and shelter from the storm are now some of my favorite dylan songs. this record is my favorite dylan album, and my favorite folk album as a whole.

So a very famous man (a guy I knew only as ‘This is Anfield’) once told me that you have to GET Bobby D. I’ve listened to Highway 61 and the Best Of to try to GET Bobby D and I was like “well nah”. Listened to this and I WISH someone had given me this as an intro to Dylan! Brilliant album, great music, great lyrics and his voice isn’t so nasally you start thinking of midges in your lug! Brilliant! Have I finally GOT Bobby D? Time will tell, but this is a great place to start! Loved it!

A near flawless album, this is Dylan stripped back, raw and intimate. Tangled up in Blue, Idiot Wind and shelter from the storm among the highlights, but I must admit I don’t love this album the way I do bringing it all back home or Highway 61. Just misses out on 5 stars

Two rules, every line must rhyme no matter how nonsensical and every track must end in a harmonica solo. Only slightly better than the live double album that I was forced to skip.

Found this quite charming musically and enjoyable. His voice was tolerable too. Won’t go back tho.

En nuestro tercer Dylan (porque el en vivo realmente no lo cuento)... Blonde on Blonde me pareció como si fuera un excelente buffet que muestra la versatilidad y todo lo que puede hacer Dylan, aunque un poco exagerado y algo abotagado en el resultado final (aparte de lo cansado de lo exagerado del maullido), Freewheelin lo mostró en un plan totalmente mostrando sus inicios y la canción de protesta, su habilidad lírica e incluso en un marco más... "inocente" diría. Este disco... creo que excepto que saliera alguno otro de sorpresa será mi disco favorito de Bob Dylan. Es un disco con canciones llenas de peso y que se siente personal; se siente una persona que ya tiene tiempo pero te demuestra que no se le ha acabado la gasolina. Durante mucho del disco se siente, incluso sin la necesidad de leer la historia del disco, la forma en que habla de su divorcio, la mirada nostálgica a romances pasados y en general el hilo que une a todo el disco creo es el dolor de los amores que ya no están. Es un Dylan mucho más fuerte, musicalmente en forma perfecta y, a riesgo de sonar cínico, ese pesimismo y grado de miseria le viene muy bien. A pesar de lo anterior y de todo lo bueno que tiene en esos sentidos creo que la joya de todo el disco es Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. Si alguien duda o pregunta a qué se refieren sobre la maestría de Dylan para contar una historia solo tienen que escuchar esta canción. Literalmente podrían hacer una película sobre la historia e incluso la ambigüedad del final me deja con ganas de que existiera una segunda parte para saber la continuación de la historia. Con esa simple canción el disco sería excelente, con el resto creo que encontré mi disco favorito de Bob Dylan.

Aquí no noté mucho sus maullidos de gato sureño y creo que por eso me gustó más este disco. Se nota una madurez y sentimientos aunque lo niegue y si te transporta a las historias que te cuenta en cada canción. Merecido 4 por no tener canciones rojillas

3.5 que hoy no redondea a 4. Este disco tiene dos de mis favoritas de Bob: Tangled Up In The Blue y Simple Twist of Faith. Pero también tiene un sonido distinto, mucho mucho más producido y decorado que el sonido de otros discos (como Blonde on Blonde) y eso no me termina de encantar. Siento que está a punto de dar el salto al Dylan eléctrico, pero le falta el último cachito y mientras tanto, en este disco, sobran capas de pedal guitars y arpas o salterios o algún otro instrumento. Finalmente, tras haber oído ya varios discos de Dylan, me pregunto si, recibiéndolos en otro orden, valoraría este un poco mejor o igual es claro que me gustan más otros.

A beautiful Album - One of my faves

Another one that has gotten me one or two steps closer to understanding the enigma that is the Dyl man. I think I said this about the last one but this one is my new fav. This is where he starts making sense. Highly emotive, not too abstract and very engaging storytelling.

I absolutely love the lyricism bob dylan shows throughout each song. He deals a lot with relationship issues in such a poetic way. Pair that with folk production it's an incredible experience. This is my first project with bob dylan I am excited to dive into his discography

9 years after Blonde on Blonde, Dylan returns to his crown as one of the greatest songwriters out there by looking back at his roots. Despite what he says, this is 100% influenced by his relationship with Sara and you can feel that in his voice and in his words in many of the tracks, especially the lengthy "Idiot Wind". "Tangled Up in Blue" is a masterpiece of a song, and it's on my playlist of what to show aliens. "Simple Twist of Fate" and "If You See Her, Say Hello" are other favorites of mine. Each song pulls the audience into the singer's introspection as he responds to life's problems with mature responses.

Oh hey! Some Bob Dylan. Maybe I’ll listen to this and reeeeally like Bob Dylan now! This is my way in. Idiot wind, that’s a great track. I know that one. Okay let’s go!! Oh yeah, it’s Bob Dylan...right, yeah, no, I’ve actually listened to him before. Quite a lot actually. Yeah it’s pretty good isn’t it. Nice one. I’ll probably just leave it there though.

This album kinda feels like a late summer's evening. Sun is going down, sitting on a porch or driving with the window open. A bit nostalgic et mélancolique. Bit too country for me (might be the harmonica), just not my thing.

Confession time: I’ve never listened to a Bob Dylan album before. Couldn’t tell you why. He seemed, I suppose, too much of a Goliath to tackle; I’d missed my window, surely - where would I start? But here we are. My window opened, and I leapt through. I listened to this album three times yesterday, and will surely have to listen more, and more intimately to unravel all the rambling tales and hidden crooked melodies, and its deceptively simple-not-easy instrumentation. I will always feel like I’m not getting something when it comes to Dylan, and like I’m playing catch up, such is the weight of mythology that comes with such an artist. But I’m pleased to have finally broken the seal.

Folk rock foundation

Perhaps because I was looking forward to it all day, or it’s been a while since I last listened, or what I look for from Dylan has changed, or I’ve changed, or I’ve never ‘got it’ before, but in the ten years and many listens since I first spun Blood on the Tracks this is the first time it’s sounded like a 5. And I don’t doubt that change for a second. I’d rather luxuriate in the delicious tangibility of growing with an album – surely one of music listening’s greatest and mysterious pleasures. So, what am I hearing differently? First, Dylan’s writing, which is equal to (no higher praise) Hank Williams in the way he uses the hook – often just one line: “shelter from the storm”, “a simple twist of fate”, “tangled up in blue”, “the Jack of hearts” – like a recurring dream or deadly obsession that pulls him back no matter how far he strays. Second, melodies and arrangements that are somehow both gentle and played with a muscular, sometimes even virulent, intensity and exactness, hoarily putting me in mind of a master painter – let’s say Turner out of laziness, though that’s probably a good comparison for delicacy qua intensity. And last, something extraordinary about the limitations of what he’s saying, or rather feeling. By which I mean that (to paraphrase something I read recently on the interwebs) these songs are about romance not love and, however gorgeously complex, are confined to one man’s limited and very solipsistic experience of those romance. Somehow, the narrower parameters improve the overall effect. Don’t ask me how. I’ll only say, “That’s art.”

It was quite refreshing listening to something outside of the genres I'd accustomed myself to. While Bob Dylan wasn't known for his vocal prowess, all his songs had the essence of the finest poetry. Having only listened to Blowing In The Wind and Mr. Tambourine Man previously, I am grateful to have been introduced to Blood On The Tracks so as to understand his music and the era better.

Personal feelings aside, this album is a gem. Every track is solid even if there isn’t the biggest flow between them. It also has some of the most underrated “Breakup” songs and amazing lyrics.

This is an album alternately bitter, sorrowful, regretful, and peaceful, easily the closest he ever came to wearing his emotions on his sleeve. Dylan made albums more influential than this, but he never made one better.

While there are so many Dylan songs I don’t know, I thought I knew Dylan's capabilities.  Simple Twist of Fate showed me a part of Dylan I didn’t know. He actually has a vocal range! Shocking. Tangled up in Blue is fairly upbeat especially considering it's a sad song. As I was listening I was thinking how cool Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts was. All the  folk types venture to the Country   and this is an excellent country song.  When I went to Spotify to get the name of the song, I  noticed that, of songs on  that album,  it has the fewest number of listens on Spotify. This is a very good album of Dylan tunes and one I didn't know. He just turned 80 so there may not be too many more to come. At least I still have many more to discover.

Hadn’t listened to a Dylan album in full for years. Some great songs although you have to be in the right mood for the voice!

First full Bob Dylan album I've listened to. He definitely has a style all his own.

Musically this album is pretty average (on the Bob Dylan scale), but the lyrics are amazing. Tangled Up in Blue is a master class in storytelling. This is one of his finer efforts.

Following on the heels of an album where he repudiated his past with his greatest backing band, Blood on the Tracks finds Bob Dylan, in a way, retreating to the past, recording a largely quiet, acoustic-based album. But this is hardly nostalgia -- this is the sound of an artist returning to his strengths, what feels most familiar, as he accepts a traumatic situation, namely the breakdown of his marriage. This is an album alternately bitter, sorrowful, regretful, and peaceful, easily the closest he ever came to wearing his emotions on his sleeve. That's not to say that it's an explicitly confessional record, since many songs are riddles or allegories, yet the warmth of the music makes it feel that way. The original version of the album was even quieter -- first takes of "Idiot Wind" and "Tangled Up in Blue," available on The Bootleg Series, Vols. 1-3, are hushed and quiet (excised verses are quoted in the liner notes, but not heard on the record) -- but Blood on the Tracks remains an intimate, revealing affair since these harsher takes let his anger surface the way his sadness does elsewhere. As such, it's an affecting, unbearably poignant record, not because it's a glimpse into his soul, but because the songs are remarkably clear-eyed and sentimental, lovely and melancholy at once. And, in a way, it's best that he was backed with studio musicians here, since the professional, understated backing lets the songs and emotion stand at the forefront. Dylan made albums more influential than this, but he never made one better.

I think I get the boomer hype, the songwriting is so good. i wish he was a better vocalist but what can you do. 9/10

A nice way to air your dirty laundry publicly

My Kryptonite. Whilst I have enjoyed individual tracks of Dylan's, i have never truly enjoyed an album in full, so this was mostly new to me. The Songwriting is exceptional. Lyrics verging on genius. Yet most of this album doesn't hit home for me. I can appreciate the songs but for me there aren't enough hooks to keep me interested and 52 minutes of more a less the same song makes me a little bored. Actually preferred the album he released last year which was far more interesting. Highlights: Meet me in the Morning, Shelter from the storm 3/5

I think I would like this a lot, but I just can't get passed Dylan's voice sounding like he's straining to squeeze out a difficult poo. I am sure it would reward repeated listens, reading lyrics etc. but I don't have the motivation to get stuck into it.

I really love Bob Dylan's songwriting, and particularly the more narrative songs. It does a lot to offset a very samey singing/musical style that starts to drag on for such a long album. Gets a 9/10 because it still has a good number of strong songs on it, but I probably wouldn't listen to it straight through again.

I listened to this on cassette in my car when I was a teenager. I remember liking the lyrics, the funny turns of phrase, the obscure things he'd say to make something rhyme. I like them even more now, especially since they're Nobel Prize material. I find myself listening intensely to every song to find out how it’s going to end. So many songs about relationships that stopped and started again! Unlike much of the 70s folk music we’ve been sent, every song here seems to have its own personality. My co-judge says “Jack of Hearts” is her favourite, but I find the cast of characters hard to keep track of. “Idiot Wind” is mine. With Jacques Brel, I felt I was missing a lot by not speaking French. Today I’m happy to speak English.

Anticipate and cherish the moments when you say to yourself, “I never thought of it that way before.” You’ll find life expanding within you. And if you find Dylan’s vocals unbearable, start with “Tangled Up in Blue” and “Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts”. Listen to the creative variations in the synchronization between the poetic rhythms and the musical rhythms. You may not ‘get’ all the obscure references, but you’ll feel the feeling. Then you might be ready to embrace the passion of a man who sings to his estranged wife at the end of a failed marriage (in “Idiot Wind”): You’re an idiot, babe It’s a wonder that you still know how to breathe. . . . We’re idiots, babe It’s a wonder we can even feed ourselves. Try to put words to the development from the first two lines to the last two lines. This is not music for dancing, partying, getting stoned, lifting one up, easing one down, or background while one works. This merely culture-causing music fit for a serious listen. But if this album is over the heads of pop music consumers with three-minute attention spans, they should feel free to move on. I’ll stay awhile. Shelter from the storm. 5/5

I tried, I really tried but I find his vocals really annoying. I respect him as a poet but as a musician he just doesn’t do it for me, too much of the same wailing In his songs made this impossible for me to get through.

I try to like Dylan, but I rarely connect. I find I'm never paying attention to it. I appreciate his genius, and cultural significance, and there are some songs that I love, but overall it just doesn't move me.

I liked it more than I thought I would. I liked two more songs, which I vaguely remembered from my childhood.

Never been a huge fan of Dylan's voice, but this one wasn't bad. My favorite song was Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, which is also the longest track on the album. I enjoyed this album one a lot.

It's Dylan. I swear I hear a completely different thing than everybody else who listens to him, because I can't get into him at all. His albums are too long, the songs all sound the same, and his legendary (Nobel prize winning!) songwriting just does not speak to me at all.

As a first approach to the entire genre of Folk, Dylan's album surely is a great beginning. I was not entirely in tune with the soundscape of the genre per se but it is a remarkable work of songwriting skills. Favourites: If You See Her, Say Hello; Tangled Up In Blue; Shelter From The Storm

I have not been a Bob Dylan fan but I have slowly warmed to him over the years. This album certainly pushes me toward fandom. It is easy to hear all the influence he has had on subsequent musicians listening to these songs. The lyrics are so interesting, and make me want to listen again. I was driving down to Rochester to get my vaccine for part of the album, and it's the perfect soundtrack for driving through the vast landscape.

I really can’t stand Dylan’s way of singing.

To me, this is his last 5 star masterpiece album. Me and my friends were practically Dylan cultists back in high school so this one is burned into me. Probably the most personal Dylan ever got and perhaps the greatest breakup album of all time.

Dylan is fine. I don't get into it. I can see the appeal but meh. Nothing stuck out on this album for me personally.

It's Dylan and he's always good. I'm not much of a fan but it was good. The album totally desrves a higher rating than what I give it but I'm just not a fan of Dylan's style (usually).

Tangled up in Blue, the first track is a great example of amazing storytelling and song writing. The instrumentation is also really good with the 12 string guitar shining throughout the whole song. Idiot Wind, contains some great songwriting. The song seems autobiographical but Dylan has denied it. Regardless, it conveys bitterness or anger and in another version that I found online I hear a bit of sadness as well. The chorus contains a little of Dylan's humor and the harmonica solo at the end is a blistering exclamation point on it all. "A lot of people tell me they enjoy that album. It's hard for me to relate to that. I mean... people enjoying that type of pain, you know?" - Dylan 1975 You're gonna make Me Lonesome when You Go is a nice western style country rock that throws in a bit of blues.

Never heard this album all the way through. Loved it.

tangled up in blue is a classic, rest is pretty much nondescript except vocals that rise up into a weird falsetto. Great song writing but otherwise not sure why Bob Dylan is so popular.

I guess now is the time to confess that I don't really get Bob Dylan. I like several of his songs, I've seen him live, I've listened to multiple albums multiple times; it's not as if I hate Bob Dylan. I just don't really get him. Like, why do people revere him so much? He's good, but I've never understood why he's great. That being said, this was probably the most I've ever liked a Bob Dylan album. It's got a nice feel to it, and it's consistent without being too samey. Starts out very strong with Tangled Up in Blue, and finishes strong as well. His poetry is great throughout and is highly accessible as well. Maybe I just hate harmonicas? 4/5
