Reviews (page 14 of 14)
I wasn’t a fan on Dylan before listening to this, and I’m still not. I can’t get over his terrible singing voice, it really grates on the ears, and all the songs feel like they have about three verses too many. It just goes on and on. I’ll start to enjoy a track, before he opens his mouth, and then by the end of it I’m just fed up with his whining. Sorry Dylan fans but I don’t get it. In the interest of fairness though, meet me in the morning is cool, but it’s sad that it’s the exception rather than the rule.
I dont like it, not the voice, not the vibe, nor for me
Я по прежнему хейчу боба Дилана И мне пох-пох, ах ох
Not a Bob Dylan fan at all…that said, “Idiot Wind” was alright
Yucky. Very not for me. Something about his voice makes me absolutely hate this. The tracks themselves aren't bad but i really can't stand his voice.
if i lose motivation for listening to 1001 albums a Bob Dylan album will be the reason why
Jesus. The best thing I can say about Bob is that he is more poet than musician, though poets might take issue with that.
dislike bob dylans vocals
The first song already made me dislike the album. Very repetitive. The way he sings is very annoying.
Oh boy. More Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan, 3eme album => 1/5
Again, no.
Ugh. Another Dylan album. I am still of the opinion that Bob Dylan should never have sung a single note. That said, this is probably the best BD album I've heard.... And what I mean is that parts of it approach being bearable. But, still, they aren't. And any vocals that approach being not irritating are offset by some pretty grating harmonica. You know what? Until this 1001 albums endeavor, I can't say I've ever actually heard any Dylan song. Like, do they even play then on the radio? I feel like that that's testament to how terrible Bob Dylan is, and how everyone was just duped into believing he was some kind of great artist, but he's not. It's not pleasant to listen to. It's just not. None of it.
I just can't. I tried but I am not a BD fan at all.
I respect his lyrical achievements, but poems/short Stories would Work better instead of music. The Same guitar, sometimes harmonica and the Same Bad singing voice. This probably IS His selling Point, that IS Not for me. Idiot Wind pushed me ober the Edge, the singing is that bad
Another singer-songwriter thing + country.
can't remember hating bob dylan that much
Torturous
What little I've listened to of Bob Dylan in the past has never left me with a good impression of him. As a benchmark of album goodness, I determine whether it has any songs I would like to hear again. I can say with absolute certainty that there isn't a single track on this album where I feel like my life would be diminished were I to never hear it again. The instrumentals are fine, even good in many songs. But every single song would be improved by the removal of Dylan's singing. He sounds like he's drunkenly improvising on every song, constantly throwing in chaotic shifts of volume and emphasis on words. The last hour of karaoke at a Wisconsin bar sounds significantly more polished than anything that comes out of Dylan's mouth. I hate that there are 7 Bob Dylan albums on this list, but I look forward to maybe finding one song that I like from him. Least disliked song: Shelter from the Storm
liked songs: Bob Dylan can't sing and this album proves it. This actually blows. I can't even say that the songwriting is decent, because it's not. 1.5
Hate. it.
I’m sorry, I know the world loves Bob Dylan, but I tried to listen to this album three times ! And I failed miserably. The guy is a great songwriter, no doubt, but he’s not a singer. Chapeau to his ability of producing a ten song album that sound all exactly the same. No hate, just my opinion
Did I just listen to the same song on loop? Perfect background to focus on house chores. 3/10
No. Fuck you, Bob. So sick of this bland music full of superfluous harmonica and clown vocals.
I generally think that Dylan is a good songwriter and a subpar singer. In Blood on the Tracks, he demonstrates his incredible ability to be a subpar songwriter, and godawful singer. I think I would rather bleed out than listen to any of these tracks again.
I couldn't finish it because it got boring after hearing what sounded like the same song 8 times.
KILL
Please no more of this annoying cunt
Oh shit….here we go again! I wanted to rip my ears off when I saw it was Bobby again today, I was pleasantly surprised compared to that sewage waste he spewed out of the wrong orifice yesterday but that’s like saying getting your head blown off by a sniper is a nicer way to go than blown up by a tank, either way you’re dead and happy to never have to listen to bob Dylan again. I will be here all day if I listed all the things I didn’t enjoy so I’ll stick to the pro’s of this album: it wasn’t that long, it wasn’t live so he doesn’t sound as bad and a handful of the songs were quite catchy. I’m still not sure why this guy is revered for his lyrics, perhaps I don’t know music all that well and I’m completely wrong but his lyrics seems fairly average
I tried, I really tried but i could not finish it. Bob Dylan makes music for reluctant cucks, he fucks around and we have to listen unwillingly. You truly cannot trust a man with two first names, and you should absolutely never trust him with a harmonica. Fair play to him though, he’s nailed the name of the album, as it really did make me want to throw myself in-front of a train.
I promised myself I'd go into this album unbiased from his last shit show that was on here. Didn't work. He's absolutely crap and I'll never forgive the generation that allowed him to be considered good, or the fucking spastic hipsters that pretend he's really good. 2 albums, both are pants. That being said, 'Shelter from the Storm' felt like someone had used chatGPT to write a simon and garfunkel style song, and it was quite good. Did the maths though, it's 5 minutes and 1 second. So of a 51 minute album, it still doesn't even warrant the 1 star this thing makes me give it.
I really don't get why Bob Dylan is considered to be so great. Hard pass
This could be the most incredible instrumental music (it isn’t) and it would still be 1 star thanks to Dylan’s utterly execrable voice and singing.
Dnf
rubbish
This may be my first Dylan album. Nice sound, but I don't get the hype. 2*
pau mole da porra
Not for me
How is this man a popular singer? His voice is AWFUL.
Langweilig, monoton, emotionsloses Gedudel
Couldn't bear this whiney bullshit
Literally a guy talking over a guitar
How the hell is this rated 3.68 average to this date? What's wrong with you people? Way too high. 3rd Bob Dylan album I got. My least favorite so far. 4 more to go. The songs are boring and it doesn't help he's a terrible singer.
Can't stand bob dylan
I'd sooner peel of my skin than listen to Dylan's whining
Boring, whiny voiced and overrated.
Hot take...Bob Dylan is okay, but I feel like a lot of a songs just sound the same. It's listenable but to sit down and hear a full album of his songs back to back would not be my first choice.
Although he's a classic, not my cup of tea
Nah
Awful. If nails on a chalkboard were transformed into a person, that person would have the voice of Bob Dylan. Writing poems and then screeching them doesn't make for good music, even if they were good poems (though in the case of this particular album none of the lyrics moved me or seemed particularly artful, so even from that angle I was left wanting)
I am not sure I can even say why, but Dylan does nothing for me. Lyrics that seem willfully obscure, the harmonica huffing and puffing, and that whiny voice. Chuck a load of folk in there, and actually, I can see why he's not for me.
i dont like bob dylan Significant 37/117 Liked 17/117 Added 4/117 NNN
Kind of boring to me. Background music that wouldn't be my go-to. With Dylan I prefer a best of album. Had me looking to see how many songs are left
He sounds like a rambling drunk
Not a fan of this one, won't be listening to it again 1/5
Booooo
Not a fan mostly because I don't really like Dylan's voice
Cannot stand his voice.
N/A
Not my style of music.
Langweilig und aus der Zeit gefallen, positiv: give me shelter from the storm
How can there be so much Bob Dylan yet only Tangled Up In Blue is good
Didn’t listen
Oh, Bob. A woman on my team at work complained about his voice just last week. I have to agree with her. He sounds like he’s wailing. Through his nose. I gave up by the third track.
I tried to like this album but I just couldn't get into it. I guess Bob Dylan just isn't for me.
how does it FEEEEELL? to sound real BAADDDD, with your NOOOOSEEEE, your NASALLY noooOOOSee
I’ve never understood why people like Bob Dylan - I don’t get it. The annoyingness of the harmonica as an instrument is only surpassed by how annoying Dylan’s voice is. What a whiny arsehole. No more Dylan thanks. I do have a funny story to tell about one of his songs which will no doubt pop up later in this challenge but that can wait, and hopefully a long wait - my poor ears need a rest. Fave track: none - it was enough to scrape my way through the album
Definitely not my type of music.
Zzzzz
I hate him idk why but i do
I feel like every Bob Dyaln song is done better by a different artist
I have always had the assumption that Bob Dylan makes boring Music, has a flat Voice and in general is just unbearable listening to. This album proved to me that i was right, and the Music is heavily overrated by boomers.
snore
No. Did not enjoy
I'll preface this with the comment that I hate Bob Dylan. His music is atrocious and I don't understand why people give him money to make it, let alone why they continue to do so or how anyone could like the music he comes out with. We'll see if this album changes my mind. I think I've figured it out. Bob Dylan lets people who are tone deaf and can't carry a note believe that they too might be able to get paid to make music. I can't make it through this album. This is torture.
Just can’t get on with Dylan
Just can't stand his vocals.
I have to state outright I dislike Bob Dylan music. But, I was cautiously optimistic with the first two songs as they were quite reasonable. Then the full Dylan whine kicked in and now I’m in music hell trying to make it through this album 1.5/10
Not available on Spotify.
This is the second Dylan album in 30 records that have come out so far and that's enough. The songs are typical of the author, telling a story based on a melody and rhythmic structure that is repeated in each verse, in a long and boring 8-minute song with an unpleasant harmonica at the end. If the lyrics are important, better read a book than listen to a record
YOU ARE SO BORINH!!!!!!!
Garbage. Pure garbage. Guy can’t sing, and should stick to writing songs for others.
10-51 Not a fan of this one. No variety with the instrumentals, making every song sound the same. Despite Bob Dylan's great songwriting, his vocals don't stand out to me and are a drag. (DON'T COME BACK TO)
Nope, don't dig bob Dylan
51 minutes is far too long when it comes to Bob Dylan. Tangled up in Blue was okay, but even this was two minutes too long. The struggle is that Bob Dylan is a strong lyricist, but lacking in vocal prowess. I know he’s seen as a folk hero for so many, so this review might rub some the wrong way. But I just don’t get his music unfortunately.
I understand that you like Bob Dylan but did you have to put all the fucking discography? Seriously?
Nee. Nicht mein Genre, nicht meine Musik.
I just don't get it. Too many words, a weird cadence most of the time.
Aw hell no. Dylan can get in the goddamn sea.
Hi: The silence between the tracks. Lo: Tangled Up In Blue, You're a Big Girl Now, Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, pretty much the whole album I don't get it. Every Bob Dylan song is an aimless stream of consciousness that's about 4 verses too long (or until Bob gets bored with it, usually long after everyone else has), and wraps up with about 40 seconds of screeching harmonica and fade to blissful silence. Toward the end, I started not to be able to differentiate between harmonica and tinnitus. It's really unclear to me if this is his "style" or what, but I just don't like it and I don't see what's so appealing about his music.
Just don't understand why he shows up twice
I don’t do Dylan...no matter how many albums are ridiculously included in this list. 1 Star!
Dislike
Not his best collection in my opinion but was eh
not for me
i do not like his voice.
earnest talk singing many songs sound like they could resolve just like tangled up in blue?
