Reviews (page 13 of 14)

Similar to "The Doors" and "Morrison Hotel", this was a bit on the mellow side and didn't really move much away from the template in terms of style. Could see it as maybe a 3 at a stretch, but will receive a 2.

I didn't like this much. Was just waiting for it to end, no standout tracks for me

I just don't get the appeal of Bob Dylan. I was switching off all the time listening to this shit - up until the harmonica parts, where I would be jumpscared back into focus. And for those going on about the storytelling and lyrics and all that, if I wanted to story I'd go read a book. It's better than that highway album because I don't think his vocals are as bad on this, and the harmonica, whilst still shite, isn't blaring down my ears so that's nice. Generous 2

Doesn't feel as douchy as his earlier albums, but he ruins my goodwill to him by making every one of these songs longer than they need to be. God he's so annoying.

Not for me

Idk nice but I’m not in the mood!!

The Best thing about bob dylan are bob dylan covers.

It was alright

I enjoy music with a narrative, but its weakness is that songs easily grow repetitive, especially when instrumentation isn't varied across verses. Most of the tracks on Blood on the Tracks suffer from this. I wanted to enjoy Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts, but it drags on and on with the same instrumental accompaniment and walking bass line. Even when the instrumental texture is a bit more interesting, as it is on Tangled up in Blue, the repetition grows tiresome. Simple Twist of Fate, with its lyrics over a sparse acoustic guitar and bass, is a fine example of song*writing*, but the main variation from verse to verse comes from Dylan's vocal expression, which I cannot say is his strength. I'm sure for some, his vocal quality adds a sense of "authenticity" to his songwriting, but I would disagree. He overuses the same method of emphasizing specific words or syllables in a sort of loud, whining whoop throughout the album, and it doesn't contribute to any powerful emotional affect when coupled with the lyrics. For example: (Idiot Wind) Daydreamin' 'bout the way things sometimes ARE / Visions of your chestnut mare / Shoot through my head and are makin' me see STARS (You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go) I've only known careless love / It always has hit me from BELOW etc, etc, throughout the entire album... Overall, I thought the tracks with electric backing were much more enjoyable than the acoustic tracks. The instrumental textures are more interesting, and there is something to focus on other than Dylan's vocals. Despite suffering from nearly all of the issues enumerated above, Shelter From the Storm proved to be my favorite on Blood on the Tracks. At least, it is possibly the only track on the album in which Dylan doesn't use his annoying whoop to overemphasize unimportant words or rhymes. The lyrics are good, and the acoustic accompaniment works well with them in this case. Stephen Stills apparently said of Dylan, "He's a good songwriter ... but he's no musician." There is no better way to sum up my feelings on Dylan's performance in Blood on the Tracks.

2. Not a big fan of Bob Dylan, but I still enjoy the guitar, harmonica and chord progression in the songs in general. The opening of the album is also pretty weak. I think Bob Dylan albums are better when the lyrics aren't so literal. Most of the songs on this album have lyrics that don't have a deeper meaning I guess. I don't know if It's because I dislike Bob Dylan or not but this album was kinda bad, maybe just ok. Favorite Song: Meet me in the Morning Least Favorite Song: Tangled up in Blue Overall Score: 3/10

Liked the lyricism on this one a lot more but can’t say I love his voice

Great lyrics, boring music.

Music good - I can't stand his singing style though.

Kind of spent the entire time wishing this was country music instead. I’m sure the lyrics are great, blah blah go read a book

Even if it isn't my thing this is closer to the Dylan sound that I associate him with. Blood On The Tracks is probably his most competent album in my eyes. It opens with Tangled Up In Blue which is one of his best songs. From there it's a lot of his signature folk with acoustic guitar, harmonica and simple backing beats. There are a couple of decent tracks in the mix that are worth a listen. Blood On The Tracks is probably the best execution of Dylan's signature formula so I have no issue with it being on this list. This is one of the few examples of a Dylan album that I don't have to suffer through after 15 minutes. Not looking forward to more Dylan but I'll try to go in with an open mind. 1.94

i really wanted to like this album but it just didn't work on me....

This is another artist whose level of Fame I just don't understand. This genre should be right up by alley. He seems like a great musician and songwriter but the purposeful stylized, dissonant singing absolutely kills me. I really enjoyed the single song in the album where he decided to sing on pitch all the way through: Meet Me in the Morning.

already listened to this in 2024. two out of five.

I feel Bob Dylan you had to be there at the time its just not very interesting and lost my attention quickly.

As far as Dylan goes, this album feels a lot less catchy and a lot more ballady than some of the others. I'm not going to do the thing that everyone does where they say that Dylan's voice sucks, because I actually like his voice on the catchy songs. Ballady songs, however, not so much. Side note: can we just say that putting some form of the word blood into the name of your album makes it 1000% cooler. Example: Rolling stones - Let it bleed RHCP - blood sugar sex magic Slayer- Reign in Blood Mastodon- Blood and Thunder Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

not my thing

This is #day192 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... here we are with the second Bob Dylan album on the list. This one felt different compared to when I got Blonde On Blonde a couple of months ago, which, looking back, is wild because I gave that a 4. I found Blood On The Tracks... annoying, and honestly, sometimes pretty boring. Maybe it's just the mood? The harmonica's almost screeching, and Dylan's nasally, miserable delivery had me turning the volume down a few times. Maybe it's just too much of Dylan that you "must" hear before you die... This is a 3 out of 5, I guess. Looking forward to #day193.

I just don't get the fanaticism around him. I can appreciate it for what it is, but I don't really want to listen to it again.

Not the worst of Dylan for me, but I still can't stand it.

Kind of boring? Sometimes annoying? Could do without the country style and the unfortunate voice. 5/10

I'm sure this is someone's jam, but it's really just not my kinda jam. Sorry Bob.

Well we’re getting closer. We’ve ENDURED late 90’s Bob Dylan’s blues camp stinker and now here we inch back towards the glory days with some blood on the tracks. I think the blood is mine. I’m being trailed by an elite RYM user with an anime profile picture. I can hear the wind howl and on that wind what sounds like his wheezing criticism. “Wow you didn’t understand the raw sexuality of Pulp?” “Hmmm I suppose the themes of Aladdin Sane DO elude most ignorami.” I’m scared, alone and only guided by the trainline to my north. Godspeed Bob. I’m afraid I’ll be captured by this unironic U2 enjoyer before the day is out. First of all, I’d like to say, the song is fine. Secondly, I want to say I can’t help but laugh at times when he really leans into his vocal. Some people aren’t meant for the stage. If he gave this song to somebody else, man; it might be a monster. For now, it’s pretty good. Kept my ear. No. I feel like this is a popular one but I just can’t get behind the main melody. The rise in his grating voice is ridiculously awful. FAAAATTTTEEEEE. Gross. Isn’t the draw of this guy the poetry? Not speaking to me yet. Riverboat music. To be fair, the lyrics are far more interesting here, but I can’t get behind these vocals. It’s an impression of a cool folk twang done by a frail tween at a junior high talent show. Could be 3 minutes. Did not need the extra 4. Not a bad one. I won’t be sad to see this album go if it keeps up in this vein, but this song had some charm. Whoa buddy, we’re getting some decent blues. Well. It’s still ASHEN white, but it’s not terrible. Pretty good actually. A nice departure from whatever else we had going here. Whatever this vocal is, this is Bobby’s range. Keep out of the warbling, and stay right here. Alright, alright. This is kind of growing on me. Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts is the best one so far. Interesting off-kilter beginning into a nice, borderline melancholic jaunt. Shanty-esque. I retract the statement as it has run entirely too long. Repetitive to a fault. If you see her, tell her to call the authorities. Bob Dylan wrote her this awful song, there are Caribbean instruments and it’s a whole thing. Lay low, he’ll move on. No sudden moves. Shelter from the Storm is fine. Oh brother, this is dragging. This is not good song. “I’m not a monkey but I know what I like.” Get this man a Pulitzer. Bad ending. Bob Dylan is a complicated figure for me. On one hand he is so highly revered as a musician and lyricist that it feels as though I am devoid of any musical knowledge for criticizing him. While I don’t claim to be an expert, I can say with confidence that his poetry and music on “Blood on the Tracks,” does not “track” with me. This isn’t terrible by any means but at times the vocal performances are. I get this incredibly obnoxious pseudo-intellectual air from this man. It’s almost as if every white college boy with average intelligence who has co-opted the imagined personality of Bob Dylan has ruined the man himself. I feel it seeping through every word. The fact that he couldn’t hand off the vocals to somebody else speaks to delusion as well as the main reason I won’t return to these particular tracks. It seems like he desperately believes his voice is a charming warble where it’s actually a nasal nightmare. Maybe Bob is more listenable when he’s freewheeling, because on these tracks, we’re verging on a train wreck. 1.5-2 HIGHLIGHTS: You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, Meet Me in the Morning

Bob Dylan = teveel mondharmonica

Bobs overrated and he never lived on a boat

Was ok background music. I wasn't blown away by it. Can't say this has made me a Dylan fan.

Not a lyric listener, so Dylan's music doesn't do it for me. I'd prefer if it was written as a poem, less so as a song.

Meh. Dylan says a lot without saying much at all.

Every one of these songs sounds the same to me

Some interesting tunes, but Im clearly not their fan

gonna be honest i wasn’t feeling this one. every song sounded similar to me and i had no idea what was going on in that lily song because the storyline was so long. just isn’t really my thing i guess sorry bob

Ill come back to it abother time trust

I don't really know what to say about this, I just don't like folk that much, I'm an instrumental person way more than I'm a lyrics person. It's funny I got this right after I watched the (fairly good) biopic, but by simple music preference I like Dylan's electric work more.

Dylan is marmite. How can I focus on the lyrics when the voice makes me angry and bored?

genre folk. it was ok. pleasant background music but not super compelling

Sure can write a good song but singing it is another story.

The album cover of Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks is a perplexing visual representation that ultimately fails to capture the essence of the music within. The artwork features a fuzzy, almost ghostly profile of Dylan, which feels disconnected from the clarity and emotional depth of the songs. The combination of a poorly executed pointillist effect and a muted color palette does little to evoke the album's themes, making it seem like a missed opportunity to create something compelling that resonates with Dylan's lyrical brilliance. Overall, this cover serves as a lackluster visual that does not do justice to the powerful music it encapsulates. Album artworks rated: 10/1001 Music's great tho.

Prvi song amazing, drugi ass.

The Bon Dylan in my book doesn’t have the best voice and that was for sure the case in this album (chapter)

please no more

multiple albums of his on this list & I still don't care for his voice. can get thru a couple of songs of his & don't really care to listen to more.

Not for me

molto soft... però non mi sta entusiasmando troppo

Er faktisk mindre imponeret end jeg havde forventet, flowet er lidt weird

Would I listen again: no Best track: Shelter From the Storm Worst track: You’re a Big Girl Now Surprise awesome track: Meet me in the morning Weirdest track: none were standout weird Lyrics: it’s Dylan. Lyrics are solid. No skips?: no. Cover art cool?: no. Kind of lame. Notes: I love Dylan but really haven’t explored his catalogue that in-depth. I am pre Newport folk festival fan mainly not for any reason other than I prefer the man a guitar and a harmonica. This album is good there is nothing bad about it but some of the songs are ehh… you’re a big girl now etc. like it’s fine but I’m not coming back for it. I’m kind of wishing I didn’t listen to this album through because I feel like he is doing the same thing on ever track like with his rhyme scheme like rhyme rhyme rhyme not rhyme into title of song as chorus.

Sick of Robert Dylan. At least the quality of this one was slightly better than the live album... which meant I could hear those incoherent lyrics, whiny harmonica and even whinier voice even better. In fairness, this was more tolerable than the last album on here and has lead me to believe Bob was probably pissed during the live performance. I was quite pleased to just be bored at points during this album, instead of irritated. Hopefully today's music will be Bob turning up at my house to force me to listen to his music even more. Maybe I'll get some form of audial Stockholm syndrome.. or maybe I'll just commit some heinous harmonica related crime. Stay tuned for tomorrow's inevitable Bob Dylan update.

Ok songwriting, Tangled Up In Blue is probably the best example, but also “I ain't no monkey but I know what I like”....are monkeys famously self-realising? Dunno, ask Bob ‘Monkey Whisperer” Dylan. My fillings started coming loose at the shrill combination of harmonica and organ on Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. Underwhelming again, and felt like it went on forever, again.

Oh joy, another Bob Dylan album 🙄

2+ Stars (6/15)

what jake said although I probably liked the music parts with the harmonica a little more maybe 2.51

I appreciate music that tries to tell a story or impart a message, but Bob Dylan only does that, as opposed to incorporating it with song. It feels like an audiobook with some mid folk music in the background. Bob Dylan isn't the greatest singer either, so he's literally just *telling* the story (sometimes his voice is bad as well). When he does lean into the music more, it gets worse. The harmonica sucks. I appreciate what he's trying to do and what he does do, but I wouldn't really come back to this, I don't think. It isn't bad though. 2/5, maybe a 2.5. I can't believe there are 6 more of this guy's albums....

Something about Dylan I just can't do

It's Bob Dylan being Bob Dylan. Meh.

never really liked bob dylan. doesn't do anything for me

Man, the only thing worse than a Bob Dylan day is a Thom Waits day.

not my type of music, folk

Boring

Bob Dylan just isn’t for me

Not really into Dylan and the harmonica

Can't deal with this guy's voice. Super grating.

I appreciate Dylan more than a couple of people in my group, but even I don't understand what theis list gains by including 4* of his albums. So minus 1 star for taking the space thst could probably be used to highlight someone otherwise excluded. This isn't even a very good Dylan album. (*Who am I kidding, I'm sure there's more than 4 of his albums on the list.)

I only had to skip one song, 'Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts.' His pronunciation of 'idiot' in 'Idiot Wind' really proves he's speaking his own dialect. Maybe 2.5 stars if I gave it another listen, but why would I do that?

Not my favorite Bob record. Gets more praise than I think it deserves.

completely unremarkable, to me.

Oh I have only one wish when it comes to Bob Dylan: keep writing music, stop singing! I have seen him live (as an opening act) 3 times and walked out every time. He is a brilliant writer, but can’t sing (or perform) for shit

Difficult to like Dylan's snarling, droning voice.

i still hate the harmonica and hearing more bob dylan has convinced me further that he is the pinnacle of white man mediocrity and i think we should ban people who think they are songwriters from making music because average lyricism doesn’t equate to art i liked Tangled up in Blue and Simple Twist of Fate though 2/5 maybe

My first encounter with Dylan, and it was very boring to listen to. One song blended into the next, and it didn't really spark any emotions as I'd hoped for. Maybe next time.

I am just straight up not a Bob Dylan fan. I do not like his voice whatsoever. It's mostly the intonations more than anything - it sounds like mockery half the time. The instrumentals helps make it tolerable. 'Meet Me in the Morning' and 'Shelter from the Storm' were decent enough. 'Buckets of Rain' angered me the most. It's a beautiful track that's immediately ruined for me with Bob's singing. I've now listened to a few tracks again. His voice wasn't as grating, but the guitar in 'Buckets of Rain' in particular just sounds like a calmer version of 'In the Summertime' and I can't unhear it and am of the opinion he ripped that riff.

Made me fall asleep

Boring

Maybe this was more appealing to 70s hippies than me, but I don't find it anything great. Good background listening though

Didn't manage to get through the whole thing. I am not sure why but I personally couldn't vibe with the music. Just couldn't find anything I could latch onto.

Fine I guess

Engaging storytelling within the lyrics, but the overall genre isn’t really my thing. It’s not awful, not at all, it definitely has merit. Highlights: You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go

I want to know what the average Bob Dylan fan is like. Is he a shitpost from the 70s? Did he shape music in a significant way? I'll never know because I couldn't finish the album. Dylan sounds like he's constantly surprised by the world around him and it's really strange after one whole track. More than that is overkill, imo.

Too whiny for me. Pass.

Started up rather well, but after the first 3 songs it's raller meh experience, except "Lily, Rosemary and Jack of hearts" ... But the first songs gives it the extra star

1. blue - 1 2. fate - 1 3. big girl - 1 4. uuind - 1 5. lonezome - 1 6. morning - 1.5 7. rozemary - 1.5 8. hello - 2 9. ztorm - 2 10. rain - 1.5

All else aside, I just don't think I can get past his voice. There was a lot here that I enjoyed, but that's always going to be a barrier.

I did not enjoy this album :( 2/5

I feel like I enjoy bob dylan's songs when performed by other artists. I didn't have high hopes going into this album, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. That said, ending every verse with the jack of hearts really got under my skin.

I have always been pretty neutral on Bobby D. Listenable but not necessarily enjoyable from my seat.

Not my vibe.

Boring

I was desperate for it to end. The harmonica is the most disgustingly abrasive instrument ever created. I simply can’t see what the appeal is with this guy. It’s like a big joke I don’t get. I predict in 10/20 years he will have started falling out the collective agreement of who is considered a legendary artist.

Been listening to Bob Dylan for decades, and I still have not acquired his disease. There are only a handful of tracks of his that truly enjoy., and only one of them, "Shelter from the Storm", is from this album. The rest of the songs on here are just more of the same old tired Bob Dylan tropes. His narratives are not enough to lift tired, boring instrumental choices and arrangements for 1974-75. That's right, I did not enjoy "Tangled Up in Blue". Another Bob Dylan album that doesn't belong on this list.

Bob Dylan was Taylor Swift in the 60's and 70's. With his very descriptive lyrics and storytelling. The one big difference tho, is that Taylor can sing and her voice doesn't annoy me after 3 songs. Sorry Bob, I've tried.

Idk what’s going on. Just not my thing.

Decent enough.

I’ve never listed to Bob Dylan before. Definitely not an artist of genre that I’d reach for but his music sounds like a it would be great for a film score. Not 100% sure I’ve I’d revisit but it’s great to expand my palette.

Bob Dylan’s Blood On The Tracks is a snooze fest for me. It feels country like, and I have clear bias against country. Even still, there’s a couple of songs from the genre that I can actually listen to regular, but none of these tracks can hold up to that standard. Everything felt boring, lackluster, and lifeless. My favorite two were Tangled Up in Blue and If You See Her, Say Hello, just because of a nice little bridge in the two songs. That’s pretty much it. All in all, Blood On the Tracks is a bad album. Best Song: If You See Her, Say Hello Worst Song: You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go

I already listened to this one.... I previously said: I'm just not a huge Bob fan. His singing voice style sounds forced and unnatural. Sorry Bob. I stand by it.

“Blood On The Tracks” is perhaps the most popular and best album by the masterful singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. Overlaying more upbeat background rhythms, Dylan paints elaborate scenes throughout this album.

I don’t love Bob Dylan.

Three Bob Dylan albums…I’m so tired.

Partly tolerable

ну норм, но я не понял, извините

Heretical opinion: I don't really like this album. Probably his last truly great album, and beloved by many and it has some classic songs on it, but I find this musically stodgy. I can see how this would make just about any list of Top 5 Divorce Albums Of All Time, I don't really dig divorce albums. They are often full of maudlin navel gazing, and I am always worried about the one-sidedness of the way the story is told, typically being told from the point of view of a man with a soapbox and a bullhorn. I always wonder what _her_ side of the story might be... And this this album is the archetypal version of that, with a side dish of "well, it isn't really autobiographical anyway" credible deniability, which makes it even harder for the ex to complain about having her privacy invaded, because he just says "well, it isn't even really about you, babe (wink)". So there you go. I don't really like Blood On The Tracks.

Not a fan of Bob Dylan and this album didn't convince me he's anything special.

Tangled Up in Blue is my favorite Bob Dylan song. I'd give that song a 4/5, but the rest of the album doesn't resonate with me.

Didn't hate it, but not a big fan of his vocals.

It’s very annoying, having one’s irrational dislikes challenged. I didn’t really warm to this album, mind; but I can understand why people might…

There are plenty of good singers with a narrow vocal range, but for some reason Bob Dylan just shouts whenever a note gets too high for him. The result is very jarring and frustrating to sing along with. I liked the harmonica parts though.

Too much Bob Dylan. If you’re not already a fan, this man is exhausting. Halfway through the first song, I need a break. He’s relentless. Like, I get that he’s popular, but the author has been too self-indulgent. It’s too much. To the point that I just don’t even want to try anymore. So, so exhausting.

Nope, I don’t get it. Dylan’s influence is everywhere. I wish it wasn’t.

Maybe it's because of that one bastard from school times who looked like him and was an arsehole, but I have a hard time with Bob Dylan. I don't want to diminish his accomplishments as a musician and lyricist. Still, there's always something incredibly annoying of how Dylan delivers his song. "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" is something I always have to skip when I hear it. It's all so off. He has great tracks, but this albums (the one with the tracks, you know?!) I have to skip or listen to only some songs of it.

And to finish a rum old week of folky poo, with the king of folky poo. I just don't like Bob Dylan, he's just a dirty looking trampy busker. Does he play the drums with his feet and knees? I've no idea, and don't really care. However, this album drifts along in its own not so merry way, apparently its about his with his wife. I'm amazed she stuck with him so long, maybe that is why it seems quite up tempo. It's really not poo enough for a 1, so I'm going to be nice and give it a 2.

Zzz What I expected from Bob Dylan. Guess you had to be there

He’s a great songwriter but I’m distracted by his weird vocalizing when he sings.

i mean,, i can see why it's good. genre just isnt my vibe, really...

I liked this Dylan Album the most yet but I dont get along with his music still. Love the Songwriting tho. Maybe I catch up sometime but yet its still not really enjoyable for me personally...

Never really get on with Dylan's music. He's an amazing songwriter apparently but I don't have the attention span to bother to get past his voice and listen and I wasn't any good at english lit anyway so can't make out some deep meaning from poetry several layers deep in imagery.

Pas 1 car je comprends qu'on puisse aimer mais ça ne me touche pas du tout...

2 - This album felt like it dragged on and on. I was this close to giving it a 1.5. Perhaps I would if I had to listen to it again. I don't remember anything about it except for how bored it made me.

Very Bob Dylany sounding, nice songs and sound but he never super appeals to me

Bob Dylan is ok is small doses, but I can’t make it through a whole album.

Didn't listen to the lyrics but whatever he says is not true, he got dumped because of his singing

my average Bob Dylan rating has increased by 25% given this great 4th addition to the collection of wonderful albums of his I've listened to

Don't really vibe with Dylan, don't really like his voice or his lyrics. Beats are the most interesting thing to me in this album, appreciate the drums hitting on off beats.

I'm just not a huge Bob fan. His singing voice style sounds forced and unnatural. Sorry Bob.

Not my taste

Not my particular cup of tea

This is slightly better than any of the other dozen or so Dylan albums on this list as it seems a bit less self-indulgent, but his voice is still pretty off-putting and there is still too much harmonica.

another iconic folk rock artist that unfortunately didn’t do much for me, but i could potentially blame that on trying to listen whilst driving and being in an open plan office. if i had to pick my favourite song would be idiot wind (mostly for the title)

kind of not very interesting

Not my type of music.

Not much a of a Dylan fan. Definitely not a folk fan. Subjectively not for me. Pleasant mixing. Meet me in the Morning stands out as most enjoyable to me. I really dig the groove of the instrumentals. Idiot Wind lyrics are quite amusing.

Acoustic 60's but quite boring, not really the hooks, quite dated

solo lo escuche un poco de fondo

I don’t know man there’s something about his voice that I just can’t get get into. I know I know unpopular opinion I’m sure. And don’t you think he looks like fucking Adam Sandler?? 2 stars

Old boy wanking on. Couple songs okay but don't enjoy that thing he's doing with his voice

While I can appreciate that he does good music, I never was much of a Bob Dylan fan, that being said, I still feel a bit guilty rating this album (which might actually be his last best album) this low

Not enough of a Bob Dylan fan to enjoy anything beyond the "best of" collections. The album was fine. Nothing interesting or exciting.

God, I cannot stand his voice. This album had some great songwriting and decent instrumentation, but it was ruined by his complete lack of singing ability.

Why are there so many Bob Dylan albums in this list when there is so much other music out there that hasn't even been considered?

Meh. Didnt click. Never got the hype.

Once you've heard one Bob Dylan song you've heard em all. Ok maybe not, but his pervasive whining is so hard to get past it's hard to appreciate anything behind it. As a music consumer who doesn't pay great attention to lyrics I'm sure I'm missing the bulk of what people love him for, but he just don't do it for me. Every line felt telegraphed with corny rhymes. Fav track: Meet me in the morning 2

Not my thing

My problem with this album is it was unlistenable. It’s not his voice, but the rapid fire words that have no melody to draw you in. I was in the middle of a project and had to stop was I was doing to turn it off because it was annoying me so profusely.

More zzz Bob zzz Dylan zzz... This man's music ain't for me at all. "He's a great songwriter" they all say, but I personally don't get anything from his lyrics. They're fine as poetry, sure, but they don't work well in a musical context as opposed to similar songwriters like Nick Drake or Johnny Cash. Jesus Christ Bob, just write a book or something. I'm not in the mood to hear the fable of the Three Brave Piglets on a Tuesday afternoon. 50 minute yapping session. 2/5, yawn.

Everything sounds the same and just melts together...

I just cannot get on with Dylan

Uhhhhh yuk

I don't have the attention span for this

After my 1 star review of Blonde on Blonde, I was absolutely not happy about getting another Dylan album so soon after suffering through that terrible, terrible experience. But you know what? I didn't HATE this album! It's clear that after 10 years even Bob himself got sick of his stupid OooOoooO voice. The songs I already knew on this record were a welcomed high-note, and overall I feel like the songwriting conventions of the 70s helped shape this into a much more listenable piece of music from my modern perspective - again, unlike that trash that was Blonde on Blonde. I'm pleasantly surprised, but also can't help but think that listening to basically back to back Dylan albums is going to convince my Spotify I'm the biggest Dylan fan and start recommending me live versions of these songs from geriatric 2023 Bob.

Jako że w piosenkach szukam melodii, to ciężko mi docenić kolesia który jest jakimś lirycznym bogiem, bo melodycznie średnio idzie tego słuchać. Ale spróbuję.

It’s aight. 4/10

The Bob Dylan song structure: Bob sing talks two sentences at a time. They always rhyme. Background music that really doesn’t matter. You are distracted by his chitter chatter. The lyrics do not repeat. He is telling a story, very neat. Sometimes he yells out. Sometimes it’s a shout. Harmonica solo to end the song. Thanks for listening along. Next song starts. Bob Dylan farts. 3/10

It was fine. Nothing really stayed with me afterwards. It was just something that was on while I worked for a bit.

Too slow

Thought this was a fine album. When I listen to music lyricism comes second to composition so thats why I gave this album a 2. There are a few standout tracks, but overall the songs are very repetitive in their style * Tangled up in blue - meh kind of long, a little too repetitive * Simple Twist of Fate - liked, simple yet sweet * Youre a big girl now - nice very sweet - little similar to the track before Album has a very uniform style, but it is getting a little tedious * Idiot Wind - not super distinct from prev two songs. very easy listening * You’re gonna make me lonesome - a little distinct, kind of meh * Meet Me in the Morning - blues track, like it * Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts - jaunty, upbeat story is kind of fun * If You See her, Say Hello - meh

Some good tracks. Classic Dylan, but Im not a huge fan really.

I'm sure it's very good, but I just can't stand his *heyeeeaaahdiot wind* voice

I know Bob Dylan is supposed to be the best songwriter ever or something but to be honest I really just can't stand his singing.

This was okay. Easily the most listenable of Dylan’s albums I’ve heard thus far. Kinda bored by the end though. There are definitely songs I’ll listen to again. 2

It was okay. I don't think I'm a huge fan of Bob Dylan.

I like a lot of contemporary bands with folk influences and I always found it embarrassing that I never listened to a whole album by Bob Dylan for that reason. But unfortunately this is a no for me :/

I just don't like Bob Dylan.

This my first time listening to Bob Dylan. I hear his name all the time, but never gave it a shot lol. Definitely a cool listen. Love the flow-y airy type sound paired with his poetry. Can’t say I like folk music, but I can get down with this.

dylan’s songwriting is incredible, otherworldly. his sound is literally unlistenable for me. he’s either yelling over a grating harmonica or just tonelessly speak singing through every track. i couldn’t actually listen to this album. i’m just gonna sit down and read it someday. no one should’ve ever given this man a guitar, stick to poetry sweetie.

Eh, not my thing

I wanted to like it but…

Great song writer -- cannot love his voice.

Some lyrics are better without the music...

just not my jam really, didn't leave me thinking anything at all, but wasn't unbearable or smn either

Jeg er nok ikke den største Bob Dylan fan.

no lo volvería a escuchar, quizás una o dos canciones si pero no es mi estilo.

I think I get it now. While I dislike folk rock in general, I'll enjoy one with a good, intimate instrumental works and a nice voice. Dylan has none of them here.

Despite my well-established hatred of the harmonica, I'm a casual Dylan fan. I like most of the songs from Freewheelin' Bob Dylan through the Blonde on Blonde record. From that era onward it's maybe just a song or two here and there but without exploring his catalogue at all. What does this mean? Why do we care? It means that I've never heard this record as a record. I haven't paid it that kind of attention and I don't know what I'll have to say about it after I give it a listen. The first three songs: Tangled up in Blue, Simple Twist of Fate, & You're a Big Girl Now make me wonder "Is this the sound of easy listening Bob Dylan?" At least, Idiot Wind sounds like Dylan woke up for it. He might not be as angry as he was elsewhere, but it has some grit. Truth be told, I lost interest around the song Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts — song number 7 of 10. Actively started to dislike If You See Her, Say Hello on repeat listen. But Shelter from the Storm is alright. I am friends with a Bob Dylan scholar, please don't tell him about my rating here: two stars.

I enjoyed Meet me in the Morning but the rest kinda fell flat. Didn’t like them, didn’t dislike them, just mhe.

I'm not a Bob Dylan fan so I didn't really enjoy this one. The low point was "You're A Big Girl Now." The only two songs I enjoyed were "Meet Me in the Morning" and "Shelter From The Storm," and it was more for the lyrical content than the music itself.

Taustamusarallattelua. Ei oikeastaan aiheuttanut mitään tuntemuksia.

Supposed to hear some great stories here. But the chord changes are ciclical the songs just run on forever. I can't focus because everything going on is bad. I just can't catch this. This is only 55 minutes, but it feels like two hours. In a bad way.

To me, Bob Dylan is a poet. Every time one of his albums comes up, I'm never in the mood for it. I blame my secondary school for making poetry boring. Also, the harmonica didn't help matters.

Bonus point for Tangled Up In Blue.

Alles op dit album draait om de stem van Bob. Muzikaal knap om daarmee de juiste balans te vinden. Enige punt. Die stem is verschrikkelijk. Niet naar te luisteren. Met uitzondering van de nummers met countrybasis. Daar lijkt de stem van Bob voor te bestaan. Doe de rest maar gewoon niet .

5,5/10

redondant

Not a fan mate

никак не могу понять Боба

Good shit but that harmonica cut my eardrums in car speakers

Tried but I’m not a Bob Dylan fan.

“blood on the tracks” is an excellent album title, to start. my reviews for other dylan albums find him very average. he’s too folky for me and his voice isn’t enticing. this album was better than the others and i believe it was due to the presence of rock and more instruments than just dylan’s guitar and harmonica. and he didn’t sound as nasally as he usually does! but it was still just an okay album. i am finding dylan’s progression interesting, as a positive note.

This made for the third Dylan album I've received on this project, and I was pleased to hear that this was the least nasal-y album I've heard yet.

Dope: Tangled Up in Blue is undeniable. Nope: Bob Dylan. Sorry bro, just not into you. Songs like You're a Big Girl Now are just droning on and on with your wailing and your bullshit lol. Vibe: I'm just bored here. If you subtract his well known hits, I've never heard a single lesser known song of his that really touched me or resonated in any way. At least when HE performed them. His talent as a writer is prolific, but I find his music just a chore to slog through.

Can not stand this guy’s whining nasal tone. Thankfully he’s dialled back the harmonica on this one, couple of vaguely pleasant tracks.

It's hard to separate Dylan from all the douchebags I went to high school with. All those dudes would throw down if you insulted their godhero Bob Dylan. Which, if I might say, was a lot of fun watching them get animated after slinging the three words 'Bob Dylan sucks' their way. Oh! And...! And! ...and they used to pull all the ladies too! Evidently, my pickup lines such as 'let's go find a dark room and listen to The Cure' didn't hold a candle to Dylan aficionado poetry and Birkenstocks. Who's still living in high school ... ? Me? Whaaah? Nah. Sure, there's some good stuff on this and perhaps I would've uncovered with multiple listens. Shelter from the Storm and Tangled are familiar and great, but not enough to catapult this into three territory for me.

For me, Bob Dylan is one of those "You had to be there to understand" musicians. The problem I have with Dylan is on display as early as the very first song - Dylan can't sing for the life of him. Rather than carrying a tune, it's more speaking interspersed with some very embarrasing shouting. Some of the songs are alright, but there is much too much folk and harmonica. That's how his fans like him. I don't. 2/5

Etter mange forsøk så er eg fortsatt ikkje overbevist

E fortsatt ikkje heilt solgt på detta dylangreiene, men da va ikkje direkte ille heller

Frista ikkje til gjentakelse

His voice is just so terrible, how do people not just listen to it but love it so much? Truly dont get it, need a Dylan fan to enlighten me I guess

My dad does an absolutely over-the-top, sidesplitting parody of Bob Dylan and that's all I can really think about as poor Bob slurs his way through one repetitive chorus after another on this one.

Ihan tämmöstä kivaa tunnelmointi-taustamusaa. Mut unohdettavaa.

Tangled up in Blue is decent. So is Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, though it kind of reminds me of the awkward studio recording scene from the movie Inside Llewyn Davis. The rest is just fine, so overall the album is a solid meh/5.

None of this is particularly interesting. Dylan's singing is toned down from the incredibly overwrought inflections he had a decade earlier, but his phrasing still feels really odd at times. Not a fan of the more country-esque twang that permeates a lot of these songs The songs all sound kind of the same. Not bad, I would listen to this if someone put it on, but I won't go looking to listen to it myself again.

Blood on the Tracks is the 15th album by folk rock singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. The album has been acclaimed as one of Dylan's greatest by both critics and fans. It reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015, and remains one of Dylan's best-selling releases, with a double-platinum rating in the US. The lyrics talk of love affairs and broken hearts, from the beautiful gravelly voice of Dylan. The music backing the lyrics is subdued and fits the vibe of the album nicely. A mature Bob Dylan knew better than to over-produce the sound of this album. This paid off for him, as now this album is seen as one of his best, and is considered a comeback album too. I'm not normally a fan of folk rock or slow singsongy music, but this album complimented the rainy, cold weather I'm experiencing outside the window of my office.

Non lo so, il folk non riesco proprio a farmelo piacere... Cioè se anche sono belle le storie e i testi, sono proprio le canzoni a non dire nulla. **

I just don't "get" Bob Dylan at all, and tbh I find him more than a little annoying. I'd give this a 1 out of spite but it didn't actively disgust me. 2/5.

Problematic gaurarnir eru at it again. Þokkaleg plata en ég get ekki notið hennar.

whinin' and moanin' gettin' pretty ooooold

Bob Dylan's legendary status notwithstanding, it's just not my jam Also his vocal style has been so lampooned I have to constantly remember that it's actully him and not just someone taking the piss Stand out song: You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go

Every Bob Dylan song sounds the same to me. Almost like his entire body of work is one long novel written by an author that doesn't know what story he is telling. I never know what the fuck he is talking about. See "Idiot Wind" Not my vibe.

This was quite melodic and country so good background music but I am not a Dylan fan so I wouldn’t listen again. 2*

Hörbar, aber auch nicht mehr

Insufferable and over rated. Move over and make way for something newer and original.

Not his best.

Not bad but not my favorite. Definitely a little slower then what I am into I think

This album kinda feels like a late summer's evening. Sun is going down, sitting on a porch or driving with the window open. A bit nostalgic et mélancolique. Bit too country for me (might be the harmonica), just not my thing.

Hmm. Nope.

this was okay i guess

doesn't do it for me

Not great.

Ein Dylan-Klassiker also. Ich fand“s durchwachsen. Die Mundharmonika möchte man (also: ich) ihm aus der Hand schlagen, sobald er damit anfängt.

Better than the previous two but not that great. Slowly sorting out the rating system. Hope for a good album soon

Not his finest work for me!

not my thing at all

#453 / 1089 Heard before? ❌ Revisit? ❌ Yeah, no. Nope. Nein. Nej. Ei. 1/5

This is the SIXTH Bob Dylan album I've gotten on this list... I get it... but also I don't... 1/5

I can't, I just can't with this anymore.

Still not a fan.

Oh my goodness, another Bob Dylan… please I hope this is over soon. I cannot get behind his music. 😭😭😭

1.5 STARS*** Respectfully, how is this on the list. Double it and give it to the next person.

The closest I came to liking a song on this album was Meet Me in the Morning. But I did not. Too much harmonica and really dull. I don't like his voice.

really just not for me. i've tried multiple times to listen to bob dylan, and cannot.

there is no way you can convince me that a guy lipfucking an harmonica and singing cheesy stories through his nose for way too long is considered one of the greatest musicians in the world

wasnt for me

Js finished. Ts is not for me :/

Meh. Not great. Annoying rhytyms, annoying vocals, and his wheezing voice are all frustratingly difficult to enjoy.

not for me.

Not a fan of Bob Dylan, sorry to big fans of him.

I did not like this.

Such a talented singer and lyricist. Fav song is ‘Tangled up in Blue’.

Bob Dylan really sucks. Bad.

ahh this is just hard to listen to

Couldn’t get through the first song

a man .... again !!

fuck you.

Ah shit, not more Dylan 🙄 I can't honestly say I'll be arsed to listen to this - sorry not sorry 🤣 Nope, 1 track in, cba.

I didnt like it in my opinion, wasn’t my type of music.

Yeah. OK. Never understood the popularity of Dylan among music fans. Most of these song, this guy is (poorly) kinda-singing songs with barely audible guitar

Stop giving me bob dylan albums holy shit he’s obviously good but the point of this project is to listen to different artists every day.

I like folk rock, but this was boring in my opinion. Bob Dylan’s way of singing also didn’t convince me

More Dylan-falling-off-a-cliff vocals than you can shake a stick at.

i hate this

Yoh ha.a

3/23 Boring. I don't like Bob Dylan's voice

I’m not listening given my feelings on the last Bob Dylan album.

Yeeeeeehaaaaawww I'm a cowboy and I like moonshine yeeheeee

Not one original idea in sight

Just "NO"

i hate bob dylan

Not sure why I need to listen to a traditional country bob dylan album before I die

lyrics don't matter when your songwriting sucks

I actually do find his voice a little grating. I'm sorry.

Музыка только для этого и придумывалась, чтобы Боб Дилан мог повыть под губную гармонику. 0 из 1000, всем рекомендую

Лучшая песня: Tangled up in blue Худшая: If you see her, say hello.

First - I do not like Bob Dylan. One of the worst (maybe worst) concert I have ever seen. Opening song is sort of nice until he starts crooning half-way through and I'm reminded his voice is not for me. Second song... okay... but the harmonica is so Dylan-esque... no. Acoustic jangle into his whiney singning... absolutely not. More Dylan crooning... I just so do not like his voice.. can't do it. I'm skimming the other songs but I have no intention of hearing anything on this record again - this is a no for me.

I tried. Listen the album twice. But no, I DON'T LIKE Bob Dylan !

I can't stand how Bob sings

I'm adding folk to THE LIST of genres

Both the Dylan quota for this experience and my tolerance for harmonica have been exceeded.

Didn't do much to sway my opinion that his lyrics are bland and his voice was unamusing even before the accident. Not saying he was _terrible_, but I'm having a hard time understanding how his name became so popular. Bob's songs are _okay_ at best.

I get that he’s an important songwriter but his voice just drives me crazy. This was a tough hang

Not for me. 1/5

Nie podobał mi się, nie mój vibe. Nie lubię gadanych piosenek, brzmienie tez takie średnie

Eh, shoulda been Blood on the Dance Floor.

The best Bob Dylan on the list

not the biggest fan :p i liked youll make me lonesome when you go but that was about it...

Just as I was beginning to think this album might be the tiniest bit bearable, Idiot Wind starts and godddddd what an absolute slog of a song. The rest of the album followed suit.

good, not for me. added 0/10 to liked songs

I just couldnt get into this album. This is a good musician though

Normally I like bob Dylan but not here
