Reviews (page 12 of 14)
I'm not a fan of Bob Dylan or the acoustic, folky sound. However, this album has grown on me somewhat. It's decent and you can't deny the influence and importance of Dylan's work.
Dylan album #27 is a lot like the others.
levy 1: ihan okei, menee taustamusiikkina mut en kuuntelis oma-alotteisesti uudestaan. muutama biisi liian pitkä ja yksitoikkoinen, mutta ei missään nimessä huono levy. 3/5
There are a couple of songs I like but overall, I am not a Dylan fan. I think I just like easier songs that are not so covered in metaphors. Probably won't listen to this album again. Saying all that, Buckets of Rain is fantastic. Can't believe I had never heard this song. Love it.
Pretty good. Never really listened to Bob Dylan outside of a couple of tracks but quite enjoyed this. Favorite - Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. High 3
Very chill
I wanted to like it more than I did. It had all the right bits, but you go straight into Rambling Bob. I think I wanted a little more foreplay.
Oy. His voice is so nasal, but it’s always been about the lyrics, hasn’t it? A couple of great songs about relationships. I need to listen to it again. Torn between a three (never been a huge fan of him singing his own songs) and a four (the lyrics, right?).
Dylan is Dylan. Hard to get excited about. Rambling, occasionally touching, pretty messy.
Me gusta aunque no lo entienda. Como irle a las Chivas.
I feel like this album showcases Dylan's voice, sometimes to a negative effect. Sometimes he hits highs, and it can be very grating. The instrumentals are standard Dylan, sparse and stripped back. I do enjoy the storytelling aspects. Not my favorite project of his. Favorite tracks: "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts", "Shelter From the Storm"
Solid album - more background music for me than active listening. No doubt an excellent songwriter and an album I've revisited over the years but not a favorite. Some tracks are definite gems but some that are just kinda meh. I’d give 3.5 if I could.
Chill, men mye Dylan-y i samtlige sanger
boring music, for boring people. Facts; besides, a lot of happiness for folk music.
Saturday morning. Southwest style omelette on a milk bun. Bob in the background. I appreciate the song writing. I understand the love. I had a coffee as this isn't my cup. Nuf said.
Not really a Dylan fan. Sorry. Was good to listen to.
It's really a pity that Dylan's voice is so terrible... otherwise this might been a very enjoyable experience.
Wouldn't listen to again apart from maybe the Jack of Hearts song.
Liked it…. Typical BD stuff
Very Dylan - no standout tracks to my ears, a lot of them kind of blur together when listening in the background
Quite enjoyed it, quintessential Dylan. Tangled up in Blue is indeed good, or perhaps just familiar? I guess I should listen to the lyrics more to appreciate it more (that's what everyone says about Dylan, anyway), but to be honest, for music to really grab me the actual music needs to grab me, not just the lyrics.
so so bob, guess i'll never get you
as músicas se juntaram numa só, nenhuma chamou muita atenção é bem o estilo de música que eu escutaria morando no interior dos eua, rock meio country, músicas contando histórias if you see her, say hello tem uma vibe melancólica feliz maneira shelter from the storm também é legal, acabou que algumas chamaram atenção sim
After a few songs my impression is that the songs and the music are very good, but I can't get used to Dylan's singing style.
Pretty good album
Well that was much better than the last one of his albums I listened to. Still kinda lame.
Good
Found this quite charming musically and enjoyable. His voice was tolerable too. Won’t go back tho.
Good!
It's alright. Not a big fan of Bob Dylan.
👍
*nasally voice* Ayu-badu-badu-boobtidy-do! Musically, not the greatest. Can’t deny Dylan’s cultural impact and lyrical prowess - along with his skill in self promotion. Might be hearsay, but I’ll take Neil Young > Dylan any day, if I’m in the mood for folk. 2.5/5
Fav: If you see her, say hello
It was quite refreshing listening to something outside of the genres I'd accustomed myself to. While Bob Dylan wasn't known for his vocal prowess, all his songs had the essence of the finest poetry. Having only listened to Blowing In The Wind and Mr. Tambourine Man previously, I am grateful to have been introduced to Blood On The Tracks so as to understand his music and the era better.
This is an album alternately bitter, sorrowful, regretful, and peaceful, easily the closest he ever came to wearing his emotions on his sleeve. Dylan made albums more influential than this, but he never made one better.
Great album, good songs. Still annoying voice Dylan though.
Tangled up in blue Simple twists of fate Meet me in the morning Shelter from the storm TOP
First full Bob Dylan album I've listened to. He definitely has a style all his own.
Some good songs, nice album to listen to.
A nice way to air your dirty laundry publicly
My Kryptonite. Whilst I have enjoyed individual tracks of Dylan's, i have never truly enjoyed an album in full, so this was mostly new to me. The Songwriting is exceptional. Lyrics verging on genius. Yet most of this album doesn't hit home for me. I can appreciate the songs but for me there aren't enough hooks to keep me interested and 52 minutes of more a less the same song makes me a little bored. Actually preferred the album he released last year which was far more interesting. Highlights: Meet me in the Morning, Shelter from the storm 3/5
another bob dylan. some funny songs, wind one. forgettable.
I think I would like this a lot, but I just can't get passed Dylan's voice sounding like he's straining to squeeze out a difficult poo. I am sure it would reward repeated listens, reading lyrics etc. but I don't have the motivation to get stuck into it.
Wouldn't be a fan of Dylan, never really like his voice. But enjoyed this album and can see how he had such an influence, especially on singer/songwriter types. Really liked ' Simple Twist of Fate'
Estilo Dylan.
I tried, I really tried but I find his vocals really annoying. I respect him as a poet but as a musician he just doesn’t do it for me, too much of the same wailing In his songs made this impossible for me to get through.
I try to like Dylan, but I rarely connect. I find I'm never paying attention to it. I appreciate his genius, and cultural significance, and there are some songs that I love, but overall it just doesn't move me.
this one was not bad
Would probably benefit from repeat listens. Not exactly my cup of tea at the moment.
Am I the only one here that thinks he is overrated?
I mean its Bob Dylan isn't it. Exactly what I thought it would be, but less annoying on a whole playthrough that I was anticipating. I don't love it or hate it. Bob Bylan out of 5
I liked it more than I thought I would. I liked two more songs, which I vaguely remembered from my childhood.
A great folk album with wonderful lyrics, but again, not my bag. I appreciate the artistry that went into this - but really only the “commercial sounding” songs appealed to me. STANDOUTS: -Tangled Up in Blue -Idiot Wind -Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts -If You See Her, Say Hello
As a first approach to the entire genre of Folk, Dylan's album surely is a great beginning. I was not entirely in tune with the soundscape of the genre per se but it is a remarkable work of songwriting skills. Favourites: If You See Her, Say Hello; Tangled Up In Blue; Shelter From The Storm
The one song I really like, everything else being slower acoustic and I’m not super into that.
Classic Bob Dylan. Sounded more repetitive and poppy though
Good folky bob dylan. Highlights: Tangled up in blue and lily, rosemary and the jack of hearts
Most tracks are solid 3* at least. Album is 3* and I could see it growing on me more
There were better ones by him
Dylan is fine. I don't get into it. I can see the appeal but meh. Nothing stuck out on this album for me personally.
It's Dylan and he's always good. I'm not much of a fan but it was good. The album totally desrves a higher rating than what I give it but I'm just not a fan of Dylan's style (usually).
His voice stays special. Always nice to hear.
Definitely willll require a second listening bit at first go it was very Dylan and enjoyable
meh it's ok
Self indulgent and can’t sing
mid
I reviewed my recent Dylan albums from this list, and my ratings have been on a downward curve... And this album continues that trend. So, a solid 2.
Honestly it’s just his voice. I’m not the first and I won’t be the last person to say the sound of his voice and that harmonica make Dylan’s music impenetrable to me. It just sounds like shit.
I preferred this to Highway 61 Revisited, but still not quite my jam.
2/5
Another Boring Bob Dylan album. I assume a bunch of Bob albums are on this list and out of the 2 I’ve listened to I did not enjoy them. 5/10 at most.
I just can’t get into this man. Someone’s review mentioned really listening to the lyrics and absorbing them into your own experiences. Sounds like a good idea. But it’s just not musically great so with all the will in the world I just can’t stay focused and it blurs into the background and I end up counting pigeons on my drive to work. Maybe another day
This album is absolutely not for me. It's primary quality is "confessional," which I find to be a pretty boring artistic mode. I have lots of friends who are Dylan enthusiasts, and they all love Blood on the Tracks. But they also acknowledge it's really a lyrics-first style of music and that, if you want the richest possible experience, you need a near-parasocial relationship with Dylan.
hey i didnt hate this one, maybe im one of those people who'd freak out over the electric guitar or whatever
Heard before?:❌️/✔️(not entirely) Will listen again?:❌️ Dylans songs are best when someone else sings them
My theory on why he's so polarizing: If you can listen to recordings and focus on the lyrics, follow the narrative, then he's brilliant. But if, like me, you are incapable of focusing on language when music is playing (because your attention is constantly and uncontrollably drawn back into the song and its elements) then he comes across as, at best, indifferent and, at worst, cynical; and you resent him for it. He has a real gift for melody. But, given that fact, the carefully affected apathy in his atonal bleating and whining, the simplistic rhyming schemes (e.g. fly, cry, dry), the sheer volume of stanzas turning his often beautiful but always simple melodies into monotonous slogs, and the lack of attention to arrangement and orchestration, combine to give the impression that he is either genuinely apathetic about the music or deeply (musically) insecure and trying to hide it in arrogance. Either way, it does not make listening a positive experience.
I couldn't get into the way bob dylan sings
Not a big fan...
5/10 No es malo pero meh. No me termina de llamar o gustar
Mildly depressing and lacking energy
Not really my vibe. I guess the lyrics are carrying this record, and they’re a little too chewy for me.
Absolutely love "Tangled Up in Blue". The rest of this is typical Dylan. Good writing (mostly), but not great performance. As with all the Dylan albums, nothing I would go back and listen to again.
Obectively good tracks not my cup of tea. Very very samey throughout all albulm Harmonica is cool Shelter from the storm is my favourite
Not a fan, he sang Hella wacky on this album. I did enjoy idiot wind to an extent
I think I’m just not a Bob Dylan fan. The songs are beautifully written, the lyrics are very good, I just don’t like his voice.
I’m sick of this man Playlist add: "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts"
well, I didn't hate it, so that's something
i just can't stand his voice im sorry to the oldheads out there
Not really a Dylan fan.
Bob Dylan tried his best to get me to like him with the first track, and I was starting to rethink things. Then the rest of the album happened. I am sure I'll be repeating this for the uncountable number of Bob Dylan albums on this list: write a poem instead Bob.
No fu ni fa, Bob
The best thing about this album is its excellent title. Of course, as it’s Bob Dylan, you feel as if you should be listening with reverence but, to my ears at least, both musically and lyrically, if you ignore the Dylan nametag it’s pretty routine 70s folk-rock.
I'm actually surprised that this is my first Dylan album that's popped up, as I'm guessing there are several on the list. I'm just going to say it... I'm not a Dylan fan. I think he's a brilliant songwriter - especially lyrics - but I find a lot of his music to sound the same and I'm not a fan of his voice. For me personally, his voice makes it tough to listen to any of his stuff. So, this album was new to me. I appreciated the story behind it and the fact that the songs on the album all work together, but it's not an album I'd listen to again.
Not really my preferred style but it has some Spotify's liked songs. I think this album needs more listens because at first it's too much lyrics.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Look, it's Bob Dylan. You already know if you like or don't like Bob Dylan by this point. This album was released in 1975, and it's his 15th studio album. Odds are good you know Bob Dylan songs even if you don't know any Bob Dylan songs. Track one, *Tangled Up in Blue*, is a song you'll be humming along to even if you don't consciously know the words. It's been encoded into your DNA. Your cultural underpinnings came from here. Is it good? Sure. Is it coherent? Not really. It's Bob Dylan. *You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go* is when the harmonica kicks in with a brutal vengeance. If you start listening to the lyrics, you're going to recognize very quickly that there are certain themes that Mr. Dylan likes to treat over and over again. In particular, romantic interludes with women who are unstable in some way and have red hair. They just keep leaving him. It's probably the harmonica's fault. Surprisingly, *Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts* is not just a good song, it's a narrative. You get an eight-minute story about love, betrayal, self-destruction, greed, and a heist. That's a pretty good gig if you can get it. *Shelter from the Storm* starts out strong. You get an implicit narrative between the singer-protagonist and an unnamed woman whose relationship evolves over the course of several poetic manifestations. Then we rapidly take a left-hand turn with some pseudo-Christian/pseudo-Norse imagery, where the singer-protagonist somehow becomes simultaneously Jesus, Judas, and Lucifer. While it's still catchy, it's pretty weird, and then the harmonicas attack. Taken as a whole, I can see how Bob Dylan is an influential player in our cultural musical milieu. But he clearly has some issues with human relationships, also being very nasal.
I'm no fan of the harmonica and unfortunately I heard an awful amount of it in this album. Dylan's voice doesn't help either. An outlier was "Buckets of Rain", though due to the minimal amounts of said instrument.
so boring, i dont really enjoy this album
not my thing, at least he's original
Not bad music, but I can listen to Dylan's voice for too long, it annoys me. Not sure why this album made it on the list, it sounds like every other Dylan album.
his voice was so tough to listen to on this
I’m good on BoB Dylan
Stop trying to make Bob Dylan happen. It's not going to happen!
There was a time probably 20 or so years ago that someone quoted a line from a skit or comedian. I can't remember what it was originally but it was something like "this is an impression, 'I'm Bob Dylan falling down a WEEEELLL'". I didn't know too many of his songs but I was aware enough to know kind of what is required to do a cartoonish impression of Bob Dylan. Listening to this album made me straight up laugh out loud alone in my car. Hearing 'Simple Twist of Fate', there's a few words in each verse that he shouts so much louder than the rest. Mixed with a little reverb it does seem like a man just continuously falling down into holes. The part that made me laugh so much though is then not but a few minutes later on 'You're A Big Girl Now' he does it again. The first like, half of the album is Bob Dylan sounding like he's falling down in a well. I wonder if that is where the impression comes from. There's a few Bob Dylan songs that I think are just some of humanities greatest examples of music like Hard Rains Gonna Fall. This album just doesn't have anything for me I don't think. Some of the lyrics in Idiot Wind were great but it's the way the song is performed that is off putting. It's a shame that way
not my fav
im sorry but I hate his voice its so annoying
274/1089 bob dylan album 2 of 7 on this list… ooh i don’t love his voice on this first track, the style and intonation are not it for me Idiot Wind is making it clear to me that this album has definitely caught me on the wrong day. His singing in this song especially is REALLY putting me on edge. I wouldn’t love it much more on a better day tbf but still… it’s very rare for me to hear a harmonica section that i like and i haven’t found one here yet. Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts is easily my fave, i quite liked that one actually despite it starting with that rough harmonica bit Shelter from the Storm is nice too and then it has to have a noisy harmonica section of course! Buckets of Rain was a cute send off too overall, i could of course be missing a specific cultural impact/relevance of this album but this is my 2nd place of the 2 Dylan albums I’ve heard and i feel like since he has 6 other albums on this project, this one could have been skipped? (i thought freewheelin’ deserved its spot even if i didn’t love all the songs) i can see the appeal in the storytelling of his songs but as music the delivery/execution doesn’t resonate with me 23/100
Struggling with it. Can see what people like about him but it’s not something I’d reach for again
No es mi estilo
Meh
DNF
Still not a fan
overrated
sorry
Zzzz
Sehr ruhig und melodisch Durchgehört ohne zu skippen, aber Stimme fand ich phasenweise anstrengend Who hurt you Bob? Mir schon fast zu traurig Fav: shelter from the storm
My first album of Bob, Only Tangled in Blue & Shelter from the storm really transported me.
Better than the previous Bob Dylan album but still not my favorite
Whenever I'm looking for nonsensical and depressing storytelling, I'll come to this album. But I'm not holding my breath
Can't get into Bob, sorry Bob
Mature, well written, self-assured, richly produced - but lacks the edge and urgency that makes other Dylan works great.
Sleeeepy. Never been a Dylan fan, and this didn't change that.
I don't know, man...
Again, not a fan.
Actually surprised I liked some songs on here as I’m no Dylan fan at all. I was somewhat entertained and there were a few songs winning me over until he decides to pull out a nasal note or weird cadence, not for me
Another Dylan? I don't have the energy.
Obviously strong album start (“Tangled Up in Blue”) but still have trouble “getting into” Dylan’s strange vocal stylings throughout.
Love it when he sings the melodies, hate it when he shouts every line.
Favourite Songs: Simple Twist Of Fate Idiot Wind
I like Dylan. But this album is lame af
I’m not a Dylan fan but know the esteem this is held in.
I don’t like the songwriting
Please bob dylan spare me. Really not my thing and if you bring out that harmonica one more time so help me
Good album. Felt like I was listening to a story.
i don't like Bob Dylan and his stupid harmonica.
Album 54 Top 3 "favorites" off the album: Tangled Up In Blue, Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts; Idiot Wind It's Bob Dylan, but he kind of almost carries a tune in some spots sometimes. If he weren't the one singing it, I think I could appreciate it more because the lyrics are decent, he tells a fine story in some places. But it is Bob Dylan singing it. And the lyrics are just decent. And the day has come when I now must say that the harmonica... was a bit much. I know. I know. This hurts me so much more than it hurts you. How much more Bob Dylan is there on this list???
Not for me
I was impressed this was slightly tolerable.
Not terrible overall, I enjoyed the tone of a few of the songs. You’re a big girl now, Idiot wind, and Meet me in the morning were ones I liked. I don’t like how long some of the songs are because hearing his voice for so long can be a bit grating.
My wife hasn't left me and my dog hasn't died, so I have no need of this album
At the beginning it was nice and soothing but then it was very samey and ultimately, I found it a wee bit boring 🥱
Bob Dylan is obviously an incredibly important artist, but the music on this album wasn’t interesting enough to distract me from the things that he often decides to do with his voice while singing. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. Sorry.
On a scale of Bob Dylan this is almost good. Not nearly as whiny and the harmonica is much less prominent. Unfortunately still not very good.
Not his best.
It's not bad, it just all becomes background music so quickly and it doesn't hold my attention at all.
Bob Dylan just has a horrible singing voice. Nothing special about the instrumentals. Harmonica is overused.
Boring
It's a "Nah" from me. I don't enjoy it, but I can see others liking it
Schnarch
OK.
I wish I liked his music more.
Yeah, i dont really like bob Dylan.
Just not a Dylan fan
Going against the masses here but I just didn't care for it
My favorite song was “Idiot Wind”
Really slow/ really long songs, not a fan 😔 4/10
Sorry this just fully put me to sleep.. 4 / 10
I respect Bob Dylan and his artistry. His tone and cadence is not my favorite. It doesn't hit me to my core like other music does. I enjoy Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. It is a fun storytelling song. Well it's sad but it's fun to listen to.
dylan isn't my cup of coffee but I do understand the importance of an artist of his magnitude
It's...fine. I flipped through several and the lyrics. Nothing really made me want to listen to them again. It falls in the 'background music' category for me. Things that could be on at a coffee shop and I'd be like, oh that's nice they're playing Dylan and then continue back to the conversation I'm having. This one just doesn't do much for me.
I did not enjoy it bored me and it just didn’t hook me
you’re a big girl now -momewona not for me ra. davigale. mgonia lyrics unda mivyve es xom didi bon dylania. “lily rosemaryze” gamovrte
I... don't think I needed to hear this album before I died? Tangled Up in Blue is a great song. And Shelter from the Storm and Simple Twist of Fate were good, but as someone who only knows the big Dylan songs, the rest of it sounded like an uninteresting Dylan pastiche to me. There's gotta be much better Dylan albums than this... Right?
Man… I just can’t get into Bob Dylan. Great instrumentals, some good lyrics… bUt the WAy he siNgs cOmplETELy throwS Me ofF.
Sometimes I feel like bob Dylan is a prank being played on me by the entire population. This guy’s voice is awful! Really grating. Good guitar, he should have just stuck to that. Specific rating - 2.4 Fav song - meet me in the morning Least fav - buckets of the rain
Didn’t love it. His voice is just not for me - the guitars and stuff were great though.
ehhhh not my taste at all
not really a huge dylan fan
The storytelling is lively but the folk-inflected music is not particularly inventive.
This is the second one (out of 7 for some reason) that I have gotten and I really don't care much for Bobby D
This is my 3rd Dylan album 272 albums in. I enjoyed the "bootleg" more than this. Dylan becomes too meandering and sounds the same to me after 10 minutes or so.
Unfortunately, Bob Dylan is not my cup of tea. He is a great artist but his music is not something I like.
Before listening: I have heard of Bob Dylan but am not familiar with this album, come to think of it I'm not sure I know a Bob Dylan song off the top of my head. The album art has a classical vibe, the maroon and impressionist painting style along with the font adds to the feeling of modern style creating a feeling of timelessness. Listening: Feels really familiar while knowing I've never heard this before. His voice is so familiar. It's giving Dire Straits which i know a few songs of, didn't realize both are of the same time (which sounds silly now that I'm thinking about it(I can also recognize that Dire Straits took influence from Bob Dylan not the other way around)). The rhyming is abrasive. He can sing though. I don't love his harmonica playing, I'm sorry i must be in a bad mood or something. It's something, I think i had high expectations and feel it's a bit rudimentary now that I'm listening through it. His voice has a tang that I'm sure is apart of the reason he is so popular but its not really for me. It's lacking variety for me, maybe i don't like rock music? I haven't really ever thought about it. Men think they are entitled to unconditional love from women, I'm not sure if I'm hearing all the words right but some of this is irritating. After listening: Generally not for me, could come around to some of the songs with some more listening but otherwise a bit one note but pleasant enough. I think my expectations for the top albums ever is impacting my listening. 5/10
yeah, not for me
Don’t really like Dylan much
no l’he pogut acabar, me sona tot igual
this was quite boring and there was an 8 minute song wtf. Idiot Wind though was a good one, and I liked the shortest song on there!
Not really my jam. A couple of songs were ok, but his voice can be a bit whiny, which is grating.
I just don’t like his voice
Přeskakovala, nebyl můj styl
It's ok.... def not my cup of tea or my fav genre but it's not the worst!
Nice
Not a Dylan fan. Whiny voice
While it pains me to give Bob Dylan anything but one star, this felt like he had a little more talent than his usual mess.
Better than blonde on blonde because voice slightly less grating. Lyrics to idiot wind were funny
Enjoyable.
Tapped my toes to the tunes, but Dylan's voice and singing style just completely take me out of it. A problem with him I don't think I can overcome.
I dont really like his voice or the music but I see the appeal. It's all about the lyrics
The album is well presented and, for those who appreciate songwriter lyrics, storytelling, poetry, and folk music, with a touch of melancholy and nostalgia for experiences never actually lived, this is a high-quality work. The music is original within its genre, and the storytelling is strong. Sadly, Bob Dylan’s music, to my ears, resembles the drunken cries of a hillbilly abandoned by his wife. This album evokes a nostalgia for experiences that were never had and a melancholy that one should not wish to embrace. I would not listen to this album for leisure, only out of interest in its musical relevance. If the intent was to turn self-pity into art, the album clearly achieves what it sets out to do. But this is what makes it, for me, unpleasant to hear. For those who enjoy the genre, it may well merit a 5 out of 5, as it achieves what the but I struggle to see how it can appeal to anyone beyond Dylan’s fans. Therefore, despite its artistic merit, the most generous rating I can give this work is 2 out of 5.
entirely unremarkable to me
Bob Dylan's voice makes my ears bleed. The music is nice though. But man, Bob Dylan screeches.
A great voice for sure, not really my cup of tea 2/5
About what I expected
En oo ikinä ollut mikään Dylan-fani. Hitti biisit tiedän, eikä oo tullut kuunneltua yhtään levyä alusta loppuun ennen tätä. Tältä levyltä oli ainoa tuttu biisi avausraita ”Tangled up in Blue”
meh
The instrumentation was nice.
This shit was ass I’m not even gonna lie. It’s getting a 2 only because of the last 2 songs. Everything before that was thoroughly disappointing.
Ekki minn tebolli. Sum lögin löng og með mikilli endurtekningu, ekki nógu grípandi fyrir mig.
I didn't take any songs away from this, but I did like it. Good vibe. Not something I'll listen to again, though.
Ok
I’ve long had a big hole in my musical knowledge; the mousey-haired raconteur, a man that, despite being surrounded by his image my entire life, I’ve managed to retain almost no information about (literally, other than the fact he once played “Karma Chameleon” on an acoustic guitar during an interview with Rolling Stone and that the cover of Freewheelin’ inspires one of Tom Cruise’s falsified memories in Vanilla Sky … I’m left with “he wrote ‘All Along the Watchtower’”). An album of “Tangled up in blue” would have been superb fun; I go on that trip with him, forgive him the cliches on account of the fact he might be the one who popularised them. It sounds wonderful travelling down the coastal road nearby Henderson, pinned between the sun and the sea on a road lined by scrub. But an album of “Tangled up in blue” this wasn’t. And an urgent invitation to jog or entrain my memory this isn’t. Still, not a complete waste of time – a favourite Bob Dylan song feels like an essential thing to have committed to memory should the conversation ever arise. Hasn’t yet, might never.
Not his best work.
Third Dylan album on this list for me (4 more to go, apparently...), and I’m still not convinced. I still dislike his nasal voice and his singing style, and I still have little interest in his stories. I guess I’m simply not receptive to his so-called poetry (I’d rather just read *actual* poetry). I’ll admit I’m biased though, since “singer-songwriters” have always mostly bored me – people droning about their life and heartbreaks in a soft voice just don’t interest me that much. It’s not Dylan’s worst offering, though. The instrumentals are more polished than in some other albums, and at least this one doesn’t constantly assault you with shrill harmonica sounds. As usual, the only songs I really appreciated were the bluesy ones, like Meet Me in the Morning. His folk songs are kind of all right, but they all sound the same to me. So yeah, I didn’t hate it. But I know I’ll have forgotten most of it by tomorrow. 3/10
I still can’t stand Dylan’s half-speaking, half-singing thing and the nasal twists, the fading talk style, all that stuff. But this album shows a less jaded, more alive Dylan than on his folk records. He even gets fired up at times, like on Idiot Wind. For me, it kinda works as background music, nothing more, it’s a bit less unbearable than some of his other stuff.
I had a really hard time getting through this. Just not a Bob Dylan fan.
i got this on my wedding day lol. not a great omen. i like dylan a lot and have listened to all his albums but honestly i've never seen what others see in this record.
Imagine if a man who sang like a harmonica also played the harmonica… I usually complain that albums aren’t long enough but 52 minutes of Mr Harmonica was too long.
3rd Bob Dylan album so far out of 419. It was samey before now its getting old... I like Bob for maybe 3 tracks in a row then its really starts to gnaw on me. This is obviously no different.
I still don't understand why he's got the reputation he has.
Bluh.
List seems insistent on pushing Bob Dylan to me lately, and I'm STILL not onboard. This is quintessential Bob Dylan. Other albums have surprised me some but this one is 100% what I expect when I hear his name.
It’s not really my thing.
That laugh he does when he does a joke he thinks is funny is getting right on my tits
too... Bob
Kinda boring. I guess american folk isn't my thing. Would I revisit this: nah.
I know Bob fans love this one, but I honestly can't understand why. The first track is cool but the rest really got on my nerves. I don't even like his lyrics on this one. Pass.
Jeg er ikke den store Dylan-entusiast. Han er spildt på mig.
Dylan's vocal quality and style is trash and not good. I do not care if it is an important exemplar of the folk singer-songwriter style.
Not as bad as the other stuff I've listened to so far. His voice was a little less "Bob Dylan-y" in this one, and there were a few good songs like Tangled Up In Blue, and Meet Me In The Morning. Still it's Bob Dylan, so I can't see me ranking anything of his over a 3. I'm open to being surprised though
Some good songs, some bad/annoying. Idiot wind was a bit much. Overall I struggled to get through this Bob album. I have heard it a couple times before, and I just think this one is not for me.
The entire vibe of the album is sitting on the porch outside the city while holding a beer in hand. I hate beer, but I feel obligated to drink one while listening to this album. Meet Me in the Morning is a great song to just walk to or leave work to, but the following song, Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, is so jarring with how bad it is compared to the previous song. I haven't a damn clue what's going on the entire 8+ minute song is about aside from it being about Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. I may have lost sanity listening to this hot mess because a good minute of the intro is just banjo and harmonica and ends with harmonica. Thank god the album didn't end on this song. Ending with Buckets of Rain...yeah, no. I don't think I will listen to this album again if the only song on this album is Meet Me in the Morning. I'll just listen to that song and vibe.
Fun. Very 60s but forward
It's not /bad/, but it's very... boring and same-y. Many songs are way longer than they should be.
Not as bad as expected
i don't like bob dylan :/
this is shit
Kind of sacrilege but I didn't really enjoy this one very much. I've always viewed Dylan as a much better songwriter than performer but honestly the songwriting on here wasn't blowing my hair back either
Ya know, I really can't get behind Bob Dylan either, his voice is a little off-putting and I don't find the music or the lyrics compelling.
Boring, personally not for me, but a very good sound
Hovmestern fikk endelig tak i katta
Initially, Dylan considered recording Blood on the Tracks with an electric backing group, and contacted Mike Bloomfield. When the two met, Dylan ran through the songs he was planning to record, but he played them too quickly for Bloomfield to learn. Bloomfield later recalled the experience: "They all began to sound the same to me; they were all in the same key; they were all long. It was one of the strangest experiences of my life. He was sort of pissed off that I didn't pick it up." Ta genast munspelet från Dylan! I mångt och mycket ett ändlöst malande. Dylan kan bättre.
I used to love this but found it very boring 15 years later
I still don’t like Bob Dylan, but his voice was less grating on this album so it gets an extra star.
Second Dylan album the generator has served up, and I assume one of the few (only?) that spawned two cover albums (Mary Lee's Corvette and Ryan Adams*). I still dislike Dylan's vocal delivery although possibly a bit less so on this album than the previous one (maybe I'm accidentally conducting exposure therapy). I still dislike his harmonica playing. Meet Me In The Morning had a nice groove I liked. I was not really into much else. 2/5 * I had a quick skip through and of all the versions I think I'd pick Mary Lee's Corvette.
Good stories can only carry that singing so far
the guitars are so pretty, but im torn on the singing. He's a good singer though the way he chooses to sing with that typical folky voice... songwriting didn't hit me as hard
Songs are too long overall, and his voice isn't what I want.
Meh, very happy and positive sounding, good stories but not really doing anything for me musically, not sure ill be a huge bob dylan fan.
A bit pointless with 1 good track Like all Dylan albums, ruined by Dylan
Like mother like son, I just can't stand his voice. Excellent lyrical writing and song design, I wish anybody else would perform it.
Dylan is not for me
Dylan being Dylan in the mid-70s. He is undoubtedly one of the great American songwriters. His singing takes some getting used to and is sometimes more like spoken word poetry slams or something. A great sounding Dylan album - I do like his lyrics and storytelling, but not a fanatic myself.
I have a low attention span with Bob Dylan. I feel that I should be embracing his work, due to my generation and musical upbringing, but I stop listening fairly quickly, mostly out of boredom. It's OK, he's a talent and influential, but I don't care. Heard before ❌️ feels like I have though Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ❌️ Bored ★★☆☆☆
I'd rather hear the covers of Dylan's songs than Dylan himself.
Great lyrics. Not melodic enough for my liking.
I had no problem getting through this album, but I also don't feel a need to listen to it again. Hard to pick a favorite song.
Ughhh another folk/country style album from Dylan. Once again not helping me get into his stuff, I can appreciate it but not something I'd ever choose to listen to.
Eh
Huh, you have to be into that, I guess
Dylan is a great songwriter and I love listening to people cover his songs, but I'm squarely in the camp of hating his vocals. They made this a rough 51 minutes.
I love Dylan but this dragggggggggged.
alright
I think im not a fan of bob dylan
Meu segundo disco do Dylan aqui no projeto. A faixa do Jack of Hearts é bem inconsequente pro álbum, na minha opinião. 2.5/5
6/23/25. Enjoyed the music and songwriting, but just can't vibe with Dylan's voice. Unique and stands out, but not for me I guess. Still overall a solid album.
Hate his voice
I don't like his voice.
I’ve always liked Bob Dylan’s general style, but this one was a bit boring to me. I couldn’t get into it.
Meh
Better than The Freewheeling Bob Dylan by a good bit with the inclusion of actual instruments in the back. The biggest weaknesses here are still Bob Dylan’s vocals and lyrics. There would be times where all the pieces of the song were working well, then he’d remember “oh wait I’m Bob Dylan, I have to sing unbelievably nasally and irritating” — then crank it up and immediately ruin things. Again it just feels like there are better blues artists in every facet to enjoy rather than this.
EEEEEEEEE-EH DEEE UHT WIIIIND What is with this guy's pronunciation? Is it a cover for his horrendous singing voice? Every time I think "hmm I might be making some headway with this guy" he then BLASTS off a screechy awful harmonica solo... There's a song that the guitar isn't even tuned right in. Is he trying to offend us? Awful forced rhymes... nah
I want to like Bob Dylan but every time I listen I am so disappointed
more Bob Dylan???? Does anyone like this guy???
Favoriten Simple twist of fate Tangled up in Blue
top songs: tangled up in blue, idiot wind great lyrics but the singing...
Frista ikkje til gjentakelse
I don't even hate Dylan, but this is...eh? Like, the opening track and Shelter are classics, but I'm struggling to have an opinion otherwise.
Bob Dylan has to do somthing special for me to get over the Bob Dylan-ness of his stuff, and this isn't it. Tangled Up in Blue has good memories for me from Rock Band 2, but everything else here basically sounded the same as that. Not coming back here I don't think
Folk rock / Singer-songwriter Blood on the Tracks is widely seen as one of Dylan’s masterpieces—and one of the most emotionally raw albums in his discography. Released in 1975 after a period of personal upheaval (including his separation from wife Sara), the album is steeped in themes of heartbreak, memory, regret, and reflection. Though Dylan has denied it’s autobiographical, few albums capture the emotional weight of a dissolving relationship quite like this one. Recorded quickly, with some sessions later re-recorded in Minneapolis, the album walks a tightrope between folk minimalism and country-blues. Mid bob dylan album, his voice sounds different than usual, good songwriting though. 4.0
The first two songs made me think I was about to start loving Bob Dylan from this day on but then the next like 8 songs sounded the exact same, starting getting better towards the end but this album was just the same song for 30 minutes and those 7+ minute songs were just tedious sorry Robert
Very Bob Dylan-ish, to be expected. Sounds okay, but gets boring. As per usual, I'm not gonna try to get what he's signing about, I'm not here for foreigner sang poetry.
nicht high genug für den scheiss
decent, not great 2,5* if i could
