Reviews (page 12 of 13)
At the beginning it was nice and soothing but then it was very samey and ultimately, I found it a wee bit boring 🥱
Bob Dylan is obviously an incredibly important artist, but the music on this album wasn’t interesting enough to distract me from the things that he often decides to do with his voice while singing. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. Sorry.
On a scale of Bob Dylan this is almost good. Not nearly as whiny and the harmonica is much less prominent. Unfortunately still not very good.
Not his best.
It's not bad, it just all becomes background music so quickly and it doesn't hold my attention at all.
Bob Dylan just has a horrible singing voice. Nothing special about the instrumentals. Harmonica is overused.
Boring
It's a "Nah" from me. I don't enjoy it, but I can see others liking it
Ich meine zu verstehen, wo es herkommt oder warum das super sein soll. Es kommt aber nicht bei mir an.
Schnarch
OK.
I wish I liked his music more.
Yeah, i dont really like bob Dylan.
боб дилан не умеет петь да, музыка хорошая, но это пение всё портит
Just not a Dylan fan
Going against the masses here but I just didn't care for it
My favorite song was “Idiot Wind”
Really slow/ really long songs, not a fan 😔 4/10
Sorry this just fully put me to sleep.. 4 / 10
I respect Bob Dylan and his artistry. His tone and cadence is not my favorite. It doesn't hit me to my core like other music does. I enjoy Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. It is a fun storytelling song. Well it's sad but it's fun to listen to.
dylan isn't my cup of coffee but I do understand the importance of an artist of his magnitude
It's...fine. I flipped through several and the lyrics. Nothing really made me want to listen to them again. It falls in the 'background music' category for me. Things that could be on at a coffee shop and I'd be like, oh that's nice they're playing Dylan and then continue back to the conversation I'm having. This one just doesn't do much for me.
I did not enjoy it bored me and it just didn’t hook me
you’re a big girl now -momewona not for me ra. davigale. mgonia lyrics unda mivyve es xom didi bon dylania. “lily rosemaryze” gamovrte
I... don't think I needed to hear this album before I died? Tangled Up in Blue is a great song. And Shelter from the Storm and Simple Twist of Fate were good, but as someone who only knows the big Dylan songs, the rest of it sounded like an uninteresting Dylan pastiche to me. There's gotta be much better Dylan albums than this... Right?
Man… I just can’t get into Bob Dylan. Great instrumentals, some good lyrics… bUt the WAy he siNgs cOmplETELy throwS Me ofF.
Sometimes I feel like bob Dylan is a prank being played on me by the entire population. This guy’s voice is awful! Really grating. Good guitar, he should have just stuck to that. Specific rating - 2.4 Fav song - meet me in the morning Least fav - buckets of the rain
Didn’t love it. His voice is just not for me - the guitars and stuff were great though.
ehhhh not my taste at all
not really a huge dylan fan
The storytelling is lively but the folk-inflected music is not particularly inventive.
This is the second one (out of 7 for some reason) that I have gotten and I really don't care much for Bobby D
This is my 3rd Dylan album 272 albums in. I enjoyed the "bootleg" more than this. Dylan becomes too meandering and sounds the same to me after 10 minutes or so.
Unfortunately, Bob Dylan is not my cup of tea. He is a great artist but his music is not something I like.
Before listening: I have heard of Bob Dylan but am not familiar with this album, come to think of it I'm not sure I know a Bob Dylan song off the top of my head. The album art has a classical vibe, the maroon and impressionist painting style along with the font adds to the feeling of modern style creating a feeling of timelessness. Listening: Feels really familiar while knowing I've never heard this before. His voice is so familiar. It's giving Dire Straits which i know a few songs of, didn't realize both are of the same time (which sounds silly now that I'm thinking about it(I can also recognize that Dire Straits took influence from Bob Dylan not the other way around)). The rhyming is abrasive. He can sing though. I don't love his harmonica playing, I'm sorry i must be in a bad mood or something. It's something, I think i had high expectations and feel it's a bit rudimentary now that I'm listening through it. His voice has a tang that I'm sure is apart of the reason he is so popular but its not really for me. It's lacking variety for me, maybe i don't like rock music? I haven't really ever thought about it. Men think they are entitled to unconditional love from women, I'm not sure if I'm hearing all the words right but some of this is irritating. After listening: Generally not for me, could come around to some of the songs with some more listening but otherwise a bit one note but pleasant enough. I think my expectations for the top albums ever is impacting my listening. 5/10
yeah, not for me
Don’t really like Dylan much
no l’he pogut acabar, me sona tot igual
this was quite boring and there was an 8 minute song wtf. Idiot Wind though was a good one, and I liked the shortest song on there!
Not really my jam. A couple of songs were ok, but his voice can be a bit whiny, which is grating.
I just don’t like his voice
Přeskakovala, nebyl můj styl
It's ok.... def not my cup of tea or my fav genre but it's not the worst!
Nice
Not a Dylan fan. Whiny voice
While it pains me to give Bob Dylan anything but one star, this felt like he had a little more talent than his usual mess.
Better than blonde on blonde because voice slightly less grating. Lyrics to idiot wind were funny
Enjoyable.
Tapped my toes to the tunes, but Dylan's voice and singing style just completely take me out of it. A problem with him I don't think I can overcome.
I dont really like his voice or the music but I see the appeal. It's all about the lyrics
Пробував слухати Ділана декілька разів. Не зміг викупити. Музика + манера виконання не мої максимально. Текст є хороші, але не настільки щоб витягнути все інше
Музика Ділана - загадка для мене. Не люблю.
The album is well presented and, for those who appreciate songwriter lyrics, storytelling, poetry, and folk music, with a touch of melancholy and nostalgia for experiences never actually lived, this is a high-quality work. The music is original within its genre, and the storytelling is strong. Sadly, Bob Dylan’s music, to my ears, resembles the drunken cries of a hillbilly abandoned by his wife. This album evokes a nostalgia for experiences that were never had and a melancholy that one should not wish to embrace. I would not listen to this album for leisure, only out of interest in its musical relevance. If the intent was to turn self-pity into art, the album clearly achieves what it sets out to do. But this is what makes it, for me, unpleasant to hear. For those who enjoy the genre, it may well merit a 5 out of 5, as it achieves what the but I struggle to see how it can appeal to anyone beyond Dylan’s fans. Therefore, despite its artistic merit, the most generous rating I can give this work is 2 out of 5.
entirely unremarkable to me
Bob Dylan's voice makes my ears bleed. The music is nice though. But man, Bob Dylan screeches.
A great voice for sure, not really my cup of tea 2/5
About what I expected
En oo ikinä ollut mikään Dylan-fani. Hitti biisit tiedän, eikä oo tullut kuunneltua yhtään levyä alusta loppuun ennen tätä. Tältä levyltä oli ainoa tuttu biisi avausraita ”Tangled up in Blue”
meh
This shit was ass I’m not even gonna lie. It’s getting a 2 only because of the last 2 songs. Everything before that was thoroughly disappointing.
Ekki minn tebolli. Sum lögin löng og með mikilli endurtekningu, ekki nógu grípandi fyrir mig.
I didn't take any songs away from this, but I did like it. Good vibe. Not something I'll listen to again, though.
Ok
Альбом краще слухати коли ти чудово знаєш мову,а якщо на то альбома ні про що
I’ve long had a big hole in my musical knowledge; the mousey-haired raconteur, a man that, despite being surrounded by his image my entire life, I’ve managed to retain almost no information about (literally, other than the fact he once played “Karma Chameleon” on an acoustic guitar during an interview with Rolling Stone and that the cover of Freewheelin’ inspires one of Tom Cruise’s falsified memories in Vanilla Sky … I’m left with “he wrote ‘All Along the Watchtower’”). An album of “Tangled up in blue” would have been superb fun; I go on that trip with him, forgive him the cliches on account of the fact he might be the one who popularised them. It sounds wonderful travelling down the coastal road nearby Henderson, pinned between the sun and the sea on a road lined by scrub. But an album of “Tangled up in blue” this wasn’t. And an urgent invitation to jog or entrain my memory this isn’t. Still, not a complete waste of time – a favourite Bob Dylan song feels like an essential thing to have committed to memory should the conversation ever arise. Hasn’t yet, might never.
Not his best work.
Third Dylan album on this list for me (4 more to go, apparently...), and I’m still not convinced. I still dislike his nasal voice and his singing style, and I still have little interest in his stories. I guess I’m simply not receptive to his so-called poetry (I’d rather just read *actual* poetry). I’ll admit I’m biased though, since “singer-songwriters” have always mostly bored me – people droning about their life and heartbreaks in a soft voice just don’t interest me that much. It’s not Dylan’s worst offering, though. The instrumentals are more polished than in some other albums, and at least this one doesn’t constantly assault you with shrill harmonica sounds. As usual, the only songs I really appreciated were the bluesy ones, like Meet Me in the Morning. His folk songs are kind of all right, but they all sound the same to me. So yeah, I didn’t hate it. But I know I’ll have forgotten most of it by tomorrow. 3/10
I still can’t stand Dylan’s half-speaking, half-singing thing and the nasal twists, the fading talk style, all that stuff. But this album shows a less jaded, more alive Dylan than on his folk records. He even gets fired up at times, like on Idiot Wind. For me, it kinda works as background music, nothing more, it’s a bit less unbearable than some of his other stuff.
I had a really hard time getting through this. Just not a Bob Dylan fan.
i got this on my wedding day lol. not a great omen. i like dylan a lot and have listened to all his albums but honestly i've never seen what others see in this record.
Imagine if a man who sang like a harmonica also played the harmonica… I usually complain that albums aren’t long enough but 52 minutes of Mr Harmonica was too long.
3rd Bob Dylan album so far out of 419. It was samey before now its getting old... I like Bob for maybe 3 tracks in a row then its really starts to gnaw on me. This is obviously no different.
I still don't understand why he's got the reputation he has.
Bluh.
List seems insistent on pushing Bob Dylan to me lately, and I'm STILL not onboard. This is quintessential Bob Dylan. Other albums have surprised me some but this one is 100% what I expect when I hear his name.
It’s not really my thing.
That laugh he does when he does a joke he thinks is funny is getting right on my tits
too... Bob
Kinda boring. I guess american folk isn't my thing. Would I revisit this: nah.
I know Bob fans love this one, but I honestly can't understand why. The first track is cool but the rest really got on my nerves. I don't even like his lyrics on this one. Pass.
Jeg er ikke den store Dylan-entusiast. Han er spildt på mig.
Dylan's vocal quality and style is trash and not good. I do not care if it is an important exemplar of the folk singer-songwriter style.
Not as bad as the other stuff I've listened to so far. His voice was a little less "Bob Dylan-y" in this one, and there were a few good songs like Tangled Up In Blue, and Meet Me In The Morning. Still it's Bob Dylan, so I can't see me ranking anything of his over a 3. I'm open to being surprised though
Some good songs, some bad/annoying. Idiot wind was a bit much. Overall I struggled to get through this Bob album. I have heard it a couple times before, and I just think this one is not for me.
The entire vibe of the album is sitting on the porch outside the city while holding a beer in hand. I hate beer, but I feel obligated to drink one while listening to this album. Meet Me in the Morning is a great song to just walk to or leave work to, but the following song, Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, is so jarring with how bad it is compared to the previous song. I haven't a damn clue what's going on the entire 8+ minute song is about aside from it being about Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. I may have lost sanity listening to this hot mess because a good minute of the intro is just banjo and harmonica and ends with harmonica. Thank god the album didn't end on this song. Ending with Buckets of Rain...yeah, no. I don't think I will listen to this album again if the only song on this album is Meet Me in the Morning. I'll just listen to that song and vibe.
Fun. Very 60s but forward
It's not /bad/, but it's very... boring and same-y. Many songs are way longer than they should be.
Not as bad as expected
i don't like bob dylan :/
this is shit
Kind of sacrilege but I didn't really enjoy this one very much. I've always viewed Dylan as a much better songwriter than performer but honestly the songwriting on here wasn't blowing my hair back either
Ya know, I really can't get behind Bob Dylan either, his voice is a little off-putting and I don't find the music or the lyrics compelling.
Boring, personally not for me, but a very good sound
Hovmestern fikk endelig tak i katta
Initially, Dylan considered recording Blood on the Tracks with an electric backing group, and contacted Mike Bloomfield. When the two met, Dylan ran through the songs he was planning to record, but he played them too quickly for Bloomfield to learn. Bloomfield later recalled the experience: "They all began to sound the same to me; they were all in the same key; they were all long. It was one of the strangest experiences of my life. He was sort of pissed off that I didn't pick it up." Ta genast munspelet från Dylan! I mångt och mycket ett ändlöst malande. Dylan kan bättre.
I used to love this but found it very boring 15 years later
I still don’t like Bob Dylan, but his voice was less grating on this album so it gets an extra star.
Second Dylan album the generator has served up, and I assume one of the few (only?) that spawned two cover albums (Mary Lee's Corvette and Ryan Adams*). I still dislike Dylan's vocal delivery although possibly a bit less so on this album than the previous one (maybe I'm accidentally conducting exposure therapy). I still dislike his harmonica playing. Meet Me In The Morning had a nice groove I liked. I was not really into much else. 2/5 * I had a quick skip through and of all the versions I think I'd pick Mary Lee's Corvette.
Good stories can only carry that singing so far
the guitars are so pretty, but im torn on the singing. He's a good singer though the way he chooses to sing with that typical folky voice... songwriting didn't hit me as hard
Songs are too long overall, and his voice isn't what I want.
Meh, very happy and positive sounding, good stories but not really doing anything for me musically, not sure ill be a huge bob dylan fan.
A bit pointless with 1 good track Like all Dylan albums, ruined by Dylan
Like mother like son, I just can't stand his voice. Excellent lyrical writing and song design, I wish anybody else would perform it.
Dylan is not for me
Dylan being Dylan in the mid-70s. He is undoubtedly one of the great American songwriters. His singing takes some getting used to and is sometimes more like spoken word poetry slams or something. A great sounding Dylan album - I do like his lyrics and storytelling, but not a fanatic myself.
I have a low attention span with Bob Dylan. I feel that I should be embracing his work, due to my generation and musical upbringing, but I stop listening fairly quickly, mostly out of boredom. It's OK, he's a talent and influential, but I don't care. Heard before ❌️ feels like I have though Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ❌️ Bored ★★☆☆☆
I'd rather hear the covers of Dylan's songs than Dylan himself.
Great lyrics. Not melodic enough for my liking.
I had no problem getting through this album, but I also don't feel a need to listen to it again. Hard to pick a favorite song.
Ughhh another folk/country style album from Dylan. Once again not helping me get into his stuff, I can appreciate it but not something I'd ever choose to listen to.
Eh
Huh, you have to be into that, I guess
Dylan is a great songwriter and I love listening to people cover his songs, but I'm squarely in the camp of hating his vocals. They made this a rough 51 minutes.
I love Dylan but this dragggggggggged.
alright
I think im not a fan of bob dylan
Meu segundo disco do Dylan aqui no projeto. A faixa do Jack of Hearts é bem inconsequente pro álbum, na minha opinião. 2.5/5
6/23/25. Enjoyed the music and songwriting, but just can't vibe with Dylan's voice. Unique and stands out, but not for me I guess. Still overall a solid album.
Hate his voice
I don't like his voice.
I’ve always liked Bob Dylan’s general style, but this one was a bit boring to me. I couldn’t get into it.
Meh
Better than The Freewheeling Bob Dylan by a good bit with the inclusion of actual instruments in the back. The biggest weaknesses here are still Bob Dylan’s vocals and lyrics. There would be times where all the pieces of the song were working well, then he’d remember “oh wait I’m Bob Dylan, I have to sing unbelievably nasally and irritating” — then crank it up and immediately ruin things. Again it just feels like there are better blues artists in every facet to enjoy rather than this.
EEEEEEEEE-EH DEEE UHT WIIIIND What is with this guy's pronunciation? Is it a cover for his horrendous singing voice? Every time I think "hmm I might be making some headway with this guy" he then BLASTS off a screechy awful harmonica solo... There's a song that the guitar isn't even tuned right in. Is he trying to offend us? Awful forced rhymes... nah
I want to like Bob Dylan but every time I listen I am so disappointed
Ovo je ne znam koji album Dylana već, malo sam skeptična oko toga da je baš toliko zaslužio biti tu 🥲 postanem dosta zasićena od njegovih albuma, iako ne mogu baš reći da je kompletno smeće. 2/5, 3/10.
more Bob Dylan???? Does anyone like this guy???
Favoriten Simple twist of fate Tangled up in Blue
top songs: tangled up in blue, idiot wind great lyrics but the singing...
Frista ikkje til gjentakelse
I don't even hate Dylan, but this is...eh? Like, the opening track and Shelter are classics, but I'm struggling to have an opinion otherwise.
Bob Dylan has to do somthing special for me to get over the Bob Dylan-ness of his stuff, and this isn't it. Tangled Up in Blue has good memories for me from Rock Band 2, but everything else here basically sounded the same as that. Not coming back here I don't think
Folk rock / Singer-songwriter Blood on the Tracks is widely seen as one of Dylan’s masterpieces—and one of the most emotionally raw albums in his discography. Released in 1975 after a period of personal upheaval (including his separation from wife Sara), the album is steeped in themes of heartbreak, memory, regret, and reflection. Though Dylan has denied it’s autobiographical, few albums capture the emotional weight of a dissolving relationship quite like this one. Recorded quickly, with some sessions later re-recorded in Minneapolis, the album walks a tightrope between folk minimalism and country-blues. Mid bob dylan album, his voice sounds different than usual, good songwriting though. 4.0
The first two songs made me think I was about to start loving Bob Dylan from this day on but then the next like 8 songs sounded the exact same, starting getting better towards the end but this album was just the same song for 30 minutes and those 7+ minute songs were just tedious sorry Robert
Very Bob Dylan-ish, to be expected. Sounds okay, but gets boring. As per usual, I'm not gonna try to get what he's signing about, I'm not here for foreigner sang poetry.
nicht high genug für den scheiss
decent, not great 2,5* if i could
Similar to "The Doors" and "Morrison Hotel", this was a bit on the mellow side and didn't really move much away from the template in terms of style. Could see it as maybe a 3 at a stretch, but will receive a 2.
Nope.
I didn't like this much. Was just waiting for it to end, no standout tracks for me
I just don't get the appeal of Bob Dylan. I was switching off all the time listening to this shit - up until the harmonica parts, where I would be jumpscared back into focus. And for those going on about the storytelling and lyrics and all that, if I wanted to story I'd go read a book. It's better than that highway album because I don't think his vocals are as bad on this, and the harmonica, whilst still shite, isn't blaring down my ears so that's nice. Generous 2
Doesn't feel as douchy as his earlier albums, but he ruins my goodwill to him by making every one of these songs longer than they need to be. God he's so annoying.
Not for me
Idk nice but I’m not in the mood!!
The Best thing about bob dylan are bob dylan covers.
It was alright
I enjoy music with a narrative, but its weakness is that songs easily grow repetitive, especially when instrumentation isn't varied across verses. Most of the tracks on Blood on the Tracks suffer from this. I wanted to enjoy Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts, but it drags on and on with the same instrumental accompaniment and walking bass line. Even when the instrumental texture is a bit more interesting, as it is on Tangled up in Blue, the repetition grows tiresome. Simple Twist of Fate, with its lyrics over a sparse acoustic guitar and bass, is a fine example of song*writing*, but the main variation from verse to verse comes from Dylan's vocal expression, which I cannot say is his strength. I'm sure for some, his vocal quality adds a sense of "authenticity" to his songwriting, but I would disagree. He overuses the same method of emphasizing specific words or syllables in a sort of loud, whining whoop throughout the album, and it doesn't contribute to any powerful emotional affect when coupled with the lyrics. For example: (Idiot Wind) Daydreamin' 'bout the way things sometimes ARE / Visions of your chestnut mare / Shoot through my head and are makin' me see STARS (You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go) I've only known careless love / It always has hit me from BELOW etc, etc, throughout the entire album... Overall, I thought the tracks with electric backing were much more enjoyable than the acoustic tracks. The instrumental textures are more interesting, and there is something to focus on other than Dylan's vocals. Despite suffering from nearly all of the issues enumerated above, Shelter From the Storm proved to be my favorite on Blood on the Tracks. At least, it is possibly the only track on the album in which Dylan doesn't use his annoying whoop to overemphasize unimportant words or rhymes. The lyrics are good, and the acoustic accompaniment works well with them in this case. Stephen Stills apparently said of Dylan, "He's a good songwriter ... but he's no musician." There is no better way to sum up my feelings on Dylan's performance in Blood on the Tracks.
2. Not a big fan of Bob Dylan, but I still enjoy the guitar, harmonica and chord progression in the songs in general. The opening of the album is also pretty weak. I think Bob Dylan albums are better when the lyrics aren't so literal. Most of the songs on this album have lyrics that don't have a deeper meaning I guess. I don't know if It's because I dislike Bob Dylan or not but this album was kinda bad, maybe just ok. Favorite Song: Meet me in the Morning Least Favorite Song: Tangled up in Blue Overall Score: 3/10
Meh
Liked the lyricism on this one a lot more but can’t say I love his voice
Great lyrics, boring music.
Music good - I can't stand his singing style though.
Kind of spent the entire time wishing this was country music instead. I’m sure the lyrics are great, blah blah go read a book
Even if it isn't my thing this is closer to the Dylan sound that I associate him with. Blood On The Tracks is probably his most competent album in my eyes. It opens with Tangled Up In Blue which is one of his best songs. From there it's a lot of his signature folk with acoustic guitar, harmonica and simple backing beats. There are a couple of decent tracks in the mix that are worth a listen. Blood On The Tracks is probably the best execution of Dylan's signature formula so I have no issue with it being on this list. This is one of the few examples of a Dylan album that I don't have to suffer through after 15 minutes. Not looking forward to more Dylan but I'll try to go in with an open mind. 1.94
i really wanted to like this album but it just didn't work on me....
This is another artist whose level of Fame I just don't understand. This genre should be right up by alley. He seems like a great musician and songwriter but the purposeful stylized, dissonant singing absolutely kills me. I really enjoyed the single song in the album where he decided to sing on pitch all the way through: Meet Me in the Morning.
already listened to this in 2024. two out of five.
I feel Bob Dylan you had to be there at the time its just not very interesting and lost my attention quickly.
As far as Dylan goes, this album feels a lot less catchy and a lot more ballady than some of the others. I'm not going to do the thing that everyone does where they say that Dylan's voice sucks, because I actually like his voice on the catchy songs. Ballady songs, however, not so much. Side note: can we just say that putting some form of the word blood into the name of your album makes it 1000% cooler. Example: Rolling stones - Let it bleed RHCP - blood sugar sex magic Slayer- Reign in Blood Mastodon- Blood and Thunder Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
not my thing
This is #day192 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... here we are with the second Bob Dylan album on the list. This one felt different compared to when I got Blonde On Blonde a couple of months ago, which, looking back, is wild because I gave that a 4. I found Blood On The Tracks... annoying, and honestly, sometimes pretty boring. Maybe it's just the mood? The harmonica's almost screeching, and Dylan's nasally, miserable delivery had me turning the volume down a few times. Maybe it's just too much of Dylan that you "must" hear before you die... This is a 3 out of 5, I guess. Looking forward to #day193.
I just don't get the fanaticism around him. I can appreciate it for what it is, but I don't really want to listen to it again.
Not the worst of Dylan for me, but I still can't stand it.
Kind of boring? Sometimes annoying? Could do without the country style and the unfortunate voice. 5/10
I'm sure this is someone's jam, but it's really just not my kinda jam. Sorry Bob.
2.5
Well we’re getting closer. We’ve ENDURED late 90’s Bob Dylan’s blues camp stinker and now here we inch back towards the glory days with some blood on the tracks. I think the blood is mine. I’m being trailed by an elite RYM user with an anime profile picture. I can hear the wind howl and on that wind what sounds like his wheezing criticism. “Wow you didn’t understand the raw sexuality of Pulp?” “Hmmm I suppose the themes of Aladdin Sane DO elude most ignorami.” I’m scared, alone and only guided by the trainline to my north. Godspeed Bob. I’m afraid I’ll be captured by this unironic U2 enjoyer before the day is out. First of all, I’d like to say, the song is fine. Secondly, I want to say I can’t help but laugh at times when he really leans into his vocal. Some people aren’t meant for the stage. If he gave this song to somebody else, man; it might be a monster. For now, it’s pretty good. Kept my ear. No. I feel like this is a popular one but I just can’t get behind the main melody. The rise in his grating voice is ridiculously awful. FAAAATTTTEEEEE. Gross. Isn’t the draw of this guy the poetry? Not speaking to me yet. Riverboat music. To be fair, the lyrics are far more interesting here, but I can’t get behind these vocals. It’s an impression of a cool folk twang done by a frail tween at a junior high talent show. Could be 3 minutes. Did not need the extra 4. Not a bad one. I won’t be sad to see this album go if it keeps up in this vein, but this song had some charm. Whoa buddy, we’re getting some decent blues. Well. It’s still ASHEN white, but it’s not terrible. Pretty good actually. A nice departure from whatever else we had going here. Whatever this vocal is, this is Bobby’s range. Keep out of the warbling, and stay right here. Alright, alright. This is kind of growing on me. Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts is the best one so far. Interesting off-kilter beginning into a nice, borderline melancholic jaunt. Shanty-esque. I retract the statement as it has run entirely too long. Repetitive to a fault. If you see her, tell her to call the authorities. Bob Dylan wrote her this awful song, there are Caribbean instruments and it’s a whole thing. Lay low, he’ll move on. No sudden moves. Shelter from the Storm is fine. Oh brother, this is dragging. This is not good song. “I’m not a monkey but I know what I like.” Get this man a Pulitzer. Bad ending. Bob Dylan is a complicated figure for me. On one hand he is so highly revered as a musician and lyricist that it feels as though I am devoid of any musical knowledge for criticizing him. While I don’t claim to be an expert, I can say with confidence that his poetry and music on “Blood on the Tracks,” does not “track” with me. This isn’t terrible by any means but at times the vocal performances are. I get this incredibly obnoxious pseudo-intellectual air from this man. It’s almost as if every white college boy with average intelligence who has co-opted the imagined personality of Bob Dylan has ruined the man himself. I feel it seeping through every word. The fact that he couldn’t hand off the vocals to somebody else speaks to delusion as well as the main reason I won’t return to these particular tracks. It seems like he desperately believes his voice is a charming warble where it’s actually a nasal nightmare. Maybe Bob is more listenable when he’s freewheeling, because on these tracks, we’re verging on a train wreck. 1.5-2 HIGHLIGHTS: You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, Meet Me in the Morning
Bob Dylan = teveel mondharmonica
Bobs overrated and he never lived on a boat
Was ok background music. I wasn't blown away by it. Can't say this has made me a Dylan fan.
Not a lyric listener, so Dylan's music doesn't do it for me. I'd prefer if it was written as a poem, less so as a song.
Meh. Dylan says a lot without saying much at all.
Every one of these songs sounds the same to me
Some interesting tunes, but Im clearly not their fan
gonna be honest i wasn’t feeling this one. every song sounded similar to me and i had no idea what was going on in that lily song because the storyline was so long. just isn’t really my thing i guess sorry bob
Ill come back to it abother time trust
I don't really know what to say about this, I just don't like folk that much, I'm an instrumental person way more than I'm a lyrics person. It's funny I got this right after I watched the (fairly good) biopic, but by simple music preference I like Dylan's electric work more.
Dylan is marmite. How can I focus on the lyrics when the voice makes me angry and bored?
genre folk. it was ok. pleasant background music but not super compelling
Sure can write a good song but singing it is another story.
The album cover of Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks is a perplexing visual representation that ultimately fails to capture the essence of the music within. The artwork features a fuzzy, almost ghostly profile of Dylan, which feels disconnected from the clarity and emotional depth of the songs. The combination of a poorly executed pointillist effect and a muted color palette does little to evoke the album's themes, making it seem like a missed opportunity to create something compelling that resonates with Dylan's lyrical brilliance. Overall, this cover serves as a lackluster visual that does not do justice to the powerful music it encapsulates. Album artworks rated: 10/1001 Music's great tho.
Prvi song amazing, drugi ass.
The Bon Dylan in my book doesn’t have the best voice and that was for sure the case in this album (chapter)
please no more
multiple albums of his on this list & I still don't care for his voice. can get thru a couple of songs of his & don't really care to listen to more.
Not for me
molto soft... però non mi sta entusiasmando troppo
Er faktisk mindre imponeret end jeg havde forventet, flowet er lidt weird
Would I listen again: no Best track: Shelter From the Storm Worst track: You’re a Big Girl Now Surprise awesome track: Meet me in the morning Weirdest track: none were standout weird Lyrics: it’s Dylan. Lyrics are solid. No skips?: no. Cover art cool?: no. Kind of lame. Notes: I love Dylan but really haven’t explored his catalogue that in-depth. I am pre Newport folk festival fan mainly not for any reason other than I prefer the man a guitar and a harmonica. This album is good there is nothing bad about it but some of the songs are ehh… you’re a big girl now etc. like it’s fine but I’m not coming back for it. I’m kind of wishing I didn’t listen to this album through because I feel like he is doing the same thing on ever track like with his rhyme scheme like rhyme rhyme rhyme not rhyme into title of song as chorus.
Sick of Robert Dylan. At least the quality of this one was slightly better than the live album... which meant I could hear those incoherent lyrics, whiny harmonica and even whinier voice even better. In fairness, this was more tolerable than the last album on here and has lead me to believe Bob was probably pissed during the live performance. I was quite pleased to just be bored at points during this album, instead of irritated. Hopefully today's music will be Bob turning up at my house to force me to listen to his music even more. Maybe I'll get some form of audial Stockholm syndrome.. or maybe I'll just commit some heinous harmonica related crime. Stay tuned for tomorrow's inevitable Bob Dylan update.
Ok songwriting, Tangled Up In Blue is probably the best example, but also “I ain't no monkey but I know what I like”....are monkeys famously self-realising? Dunno, ask Bob ‘Monkey Whisperer” Dylan. My fillings started coming loose at the shrill combination of harmonica and organ on Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. Underwhelming again, and felt like it went on forever, again.
Oh joy, another Bob Dylan album 🙄
2+ Stars (6/15)
what jake said although I probably liked the music parts with the harmonica a little more maybe 2.51
I appreciate music that tries to tell a story or impart a message, but Bob Dylan only does that, as opposed to incorporating it with song. It feels like an audiobook with some mid folk music in the background. Bob Dylan isn't the greatest singer either, so he's literally just *telling* the story (sometimes his voice is bad as well). When he does lean into the music more, it gets worse. The harmonica sucks. I appreciate what he's trying to do and what he does do, but I wouldn't really come back to this, I don't think. It isn't bad though. 2/5, maybe a 2.5. I can't believe there are 6 more of this guy's albums....
Something about Dylan I just can't do
It's Bob Dylan being Bob Dylan. Meh.
never really liked bob dylan. doesn't do anything for me
Man, the only thing worse than a Bob Dylan day is a Thom Waits day.
not my type of music, folk
Boring
..
Bob Dylan just isn’t for me
Not really into Dylan and the harmonica
Can't deal with this guy's voice. Super grating.
I appreciate Dylan more than a couple of people in my group, but even I don't understand what theis list gains by including 4* of his albums. So minus 1 star for taking the space thst could probably be used to highlight someone otherwise excluded. This isn't even a very good Dylan album. (*Who am I kidding, I'm sure there's more than 4 of his albums on the list.)
I only had to skip one song, 'Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts.' His pronunciation of 'idiot' in 'Idiot Wind' really proves he's speaking his own dialect. Maybe 2.5 stars if I gave it another listen, but why would I do that?
Not my favorite Bob record. Gets more praise than I think it deserves.
completely unremarkable, to me.
Oh I have only one wish when it comes to Bob Dylan: keep writing music, stop singing! I have seen him live (as an opening act) 3 times and walked out every time. He is a brilliant writer, but can’t sing (or perform) for shit
Difficult to like Dylan's snarling, droning voice.
Mid
Meh
i still hate the harmonica and hearing more bob dylan has convinced me further that he is the pinnacle of white man mediocrity and i think we should ban people who think they are songwriters from making music because average lyricism doesn’t equate to art i liked Tangled up in Blue and Simple Twist of Fate though 2/5 maybe
My first encounter with Dylan, and it was very boring to listen to. One song blended into the next, and it didn't really spark any emotions as I'd hoped for. Maybe next time.
I am just straight up not a Bob Dylan fan. I do not like his voice whatsoever. It's mostly the intonations more than anything - it sounds like mockery half the time. The instrumentals helps make it tolerable. 'Meet Me in the Morning' and 'Shelter from the Storm' were decent enough. 'Buckets of Rain' angered me the most. It's a beautiful track that's immediately ruined for me with Bob's singing. I've now listened to a few tracks again. His voice wasn't as grating, but the guitar in 'Buckets of Rain' in particular just sounds like a calmer version of 'In the Summertime' and I can't unhear it and am of the opinion he ripped that riff.
Made me fall asleep
4/10
Boring
Maybe this was more appealing to 70s hippies than me, but I don't find it anything great. Good background listening though
2,5
Didn't manage to get through the whole thing. I am not sure why but I personally couldn't vibe with the music. Just couldn't find anything I could latch onto.
Fine I guess
Engaging storytelling within the lyrics, but the overall genre isn’t really my thing. It’s not awful, not at all, it definitely has merit. Highlights: You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go
I want to know what the average Bob Dylan fan is like. Is he a shitpost from the 70s? Did he shape music in a significant way? I'll never know because I couldn't finish the album. Dylan sounds like he's constantly surprised by the world around him and it's really strange after one whole track. More than that is overkill, imo.
Too whiny for me. Pass.
Started up rather well, but after the first 3 songs it's raller meh experience, except "Lily, Rosemary and Jack of hearts" ... But the first songs gives it the extra star
1. blue - 1 2. fate - 1 3. big girl - 1 4. uuind - 1 5. lonezome - 1 6. morning - 1.5 7. rozemary - 1.5 8. hello - 2 9. ztorm - 2 10. rain - 1.5
All else aside, I just don't think I can get past his voice. There was a lot here that I enjoyed, but that's always going to be a barrier.
I did not enjoy this album :( 2/5
I feel like I enjoy bob dylan's songs when performed by other artists. I didn't have high hopes going into this album, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. That said, ending every verse with the jack of hearts really got under my skin.
I have always been pretty neutral on Bobby D. Listenable but not necessarily enjoyable from my seat.
Not my vibe.
Boring
I was desperate for it to end. The harmonica is the most disgustingly abrasive instrument ever created. I simply can’t see what the appeal is with this guy. It’s like a big joke I don’t get. I predict in 10/20 years he will have started falling out the collective agreement of who is considered a legendary artist.
Been listening to Bob Dylan for decades, and I still have not acquired his disease. There are only a handful of tracks of his that truly enjoy., and only one of them, "Shelter from the Storm", is from this album. The rest of the songs on here are just more of the same old tired Bob Dylan tropes. His narratives are not enough to lift tired, boring instrumental choices and arrangements for 1974-75. That's right, I did not enjoy "Tangled Up in Blue". Another Bob Dylan album that doesn't belong on this list.
Bob Dylan was Taylor Swift in the 60's and 70's. With his very descriptive lyrics and storytelling. The one big difference tho, is that Taylor can sing and her voice doesn't annoy me after 3 songs. Sorry Bob, I've tried.
Idk what’s going on. Just not my thing.
Decent enough.
I’ve never listed to Bob Dylan before. Definitely not an artist of genre that I’d reach for but his music sounds like a it would be great for a film score. Not 100% sure I’ve I’d revisit but it’s great to expand my palette.
Bob Dylan’s Blood On The Tracks is a snooze fest for me. It feels country like, and I have clear bias against country. Even still, there’s a couple of songs from the genre that I can actually listen to regular, but none of these tracks can hold up to that standard. Everything felt boring, lackluster, and lifeless. My favorite two were Tangled Up in Blue and If You See Her, Say Hello, just because of a nice little bridge in the two songs. That’s pretty much it. All in all, Blood On the Tracks is a bad album. Best Song: If You See Her, Say Hello Worst Song: You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go
I already listened to this one.... I previously said: I'm just not a huge Bob fan. His singing voice style sounds forced and unnatural. Sorry Bob. I stand by it.
“Blood On The Tracks” is perhaps the most popular and best album by the masterful singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. Overlaying more upbeat background rhythms, Dylan paints elaborate scenes throughout this album.
I don’t love Bob Dylan.
Three Bob Dylan albums…I’m so tired.
Partly tolerable
ну норм, но я не понял, извините
Heretical opinion: I don't really like this album. Probably his last truly great album, and beloved by many and it has some classic songs on it, but I find this musically stodgy. I can see how this would make just about any list of Top 5 Divorce Albums Of All Time, I don't really dig divorce albums. They are often full of maudlin navel gazing, and I am always worried about the one-sidedness of the way the story is told, typically being told from the point of view of a man with a soapbox and a bullhorn. I always wonder what _her_ side of the story might be... And this this album is the archetypal version of that, with a side dish of "well, it isn't really autobiographical anyway" credible deniability, which makes it even harder for the ex to complain about having her privacy invaded, because he just says "well, it isn't even really about you, babe (wink)". So there you go. I don't really like Blood On The Tracks.
Not a fan of Bob Dylan and this album didn't convince me he's anything special.
Tangled Up in Blue is my favorite Bob Dylan song. I'd give that song a 4/5, but the rest of the album doesn't resonate with me.
Didn't hate it, but not a big fan of his vocals.
It’s very annoying, having one’s irrational dislikes challenged. I didn’t really warm to this album, mind; but I can understand why people might…
There are plenty of good singers with a narrow vocal range, but for some reason Bob Dylan just shouts whenever a note gets too high for him. The result is very jarring and frustrating to sing along with. I liked the harmonica parts though.
Too much Bob Dylan. If you’re not already a fan, this man is exhausting. Halfway through the first song, I need a break. He’s relentless. Like, I get that he’s popular, but the author has been too self-indulgent. It’s too much. To the point that I just don’t even want to try anymore. So, so exhausting.
Nope, I don’t get it. Dylan’s influence is everywhere. I wish it wasn’t.
Maybe it's because of that one bastard from school times who looked like him and was an arsehole, but I have a hard time with Bob Dylan. I don't want to diminish his accomplishments as a musician and lyricist. Still, there's always something incredibly annoying of how Dylan delivers his song. "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" is something I always have to skip when I hear it. It's all so off. He has great tracks, but this albums (the one with the tracks, you know?!) I have to skip or listen to only some songs of it.
And to finish a rum old week of folky poo, with the king of folky poo. I just don't like Bob Dylan, he's just a dirty looking trampy busker. Does he play the drums with his feet and knees? I've no idea, and don't really care. However, this album drifts along in its own not so merry way, apparently its about his with his wife. I'm amazed she stuck with him so long, maybe that is why it seems quite up tempo. It's really not poo enough for a 1, so I'm going to be nice and give it a 2.
Zzz What I expected from Bob Dylan. Guess you had to be there
He’s a great songwriter but I’m distracted by his weird vocalizing when he sings.
i mean,, i can see why it's good. genre just isnt my vibe, really...
I liked this Dylan Album the most yet but I dont get along with his music still. Love the Songwriting tho. Maybe I catch up sometime but yet its still not really enjoyable for me personally...
Never really get on with Dylan's music. He's an amazing songwriter apparently but I don't have the attention span to bother to get past his voice and listen and I wasn't any good at english lit anyway so can't make out some deep meaning from poetry several layers deep in imagery.
Pas 1 car je comprends qu'on puisse aimer mais ça ne me touche pas du tout...
2 - This album felt like it dragged on and on. I was this close to giving it a 1.5. Perhaps I would if I had to listen to it again. I don't remember anything about it except for how bored it made me.
Very Bob Dylany sounding, nice songs and sound but he never super appeals to me
Bob Dylan is ok is small doses, but I can’t make it through a whole album.
Didn't listen to the lyrics but whatever he says is not true, he got dumped because of his singing
my average Bob Dylan rating has increased by 25% given this great 4th addition to the collection of wonderful albums of his I've listened to
Don't really vibe with Dylan, don't really like his voice or his lyrics. Beats are the most interesting thing to me in this album, appreciate the drums hitting on off beats.
I'm just not a huge Bob fan. His singing voice style sounds forced and unnatural. Sorry Bob.
Not my taste
Not my particular cup of tea
This is slightly better than any of the other dozen or so Dylan albums on this list as it seems a bit less self-indulgent, but his voice is still pretty off-putting and there is still too much harmonica.
another iconic folk rock artist that unfortunately didn’t do much for me, but i could potentially blame that on trying to listen whilst driving and being in an open plan office. if i had to pick my favourite song would be idiot wind (mostly for the title)
kind of not very interesting
Not my type of music.
Not much a of a Dylan fan. Definitely not a folk fan. Subjectively not for me. Pleasant mixing. Meet me in the Morning stands out as most enjoyable to me. I really dig the groove of the instrumentals. Idiot Wind lyrics are quite amusing.
Acoustic 60's but quite boring, not really the hooks, quite dated
solo lo escuche un poco de fondo
I don’t know man there’s something about his voice that I just can’t get get into. I know I know unpopular opinion I’m sure. And don’t you think he looks like fucking Adam Sandler?? 2 stars
Old boy wanking on. Couple songs okay but don't enjoy that thing he's doing with his voice
While I can appreciate that he does good music, I never was much of a Bob Dylan fan, that being said, I still feel a bit guilty rating this album (which might actually be his last best album) this low
Not enough of a Bob Dylan fan to enjoy anything beyond the "best of" collections. The album was fine. Nothing interesting or exciting.
God, I cannot stand his voice. This album had some great songwriting and decent instrumentation, but it was ruined by his complete lack of singing ability.
Why are there so many Bob Dylan albums in this list when there is so much other music out there that hasn't even been considered?
Meh. Didnt click. Never got the hype.
Once you've heard one Bob Dylan song you've heard em all. Ok maybe not, but his pervasive whining is so hard to get past it's hard to appreciate anything behind it. As a music consumer who doesn't pay great attention to lyrics I'm sure I'm missing the bulk of what people love him for, but he just don't do it for me. Every line felt telegraphed with corny rhymes. Fav track: Meet me in the morning 2
Tangled Up - 3 Simple Twist - 2 You're a Big Girl - 2 Idiot Wind - 2 You're Gonna Make - 2 Meet Me - 3.5 Lily, Rosemary - 2 If You See Her - 2 Shelter From the Storm - 2 Buckets of Rain - 2
1. Tangled up in blue - 3 2. Simple twist - 2 3. Blood on the tracks - 2 4. You're a big girl now - 2 5. Idiot wind - 1 6. You're gonna make - 2 7. Meet me - 2 8. Lily, rosemary - 2 9. If you see her - 1 10. Shelter - 2 11. Buckets - 1 Better than his live performance, but still garb 1.9

Not my thing
My problem with this album is it was unlistenable. It’s not his voice, but the rapid fire words that have no melody to draw you in. I was in the middle of a project and had to stop was I was doing to turn it off because it was annoying me so profusely.
More zzz Bob zzz Dylan zzz... This man's music ain't for me at all. "He's a great songwriter" they all say, but I personally don't get anything from his lyrics. They're fine as poetry, sure, but they don't work well in a musical context as opposed to similar songwriters like Nick Drake or Johnny Cash. Jesus Christ Bob, just write a book or something. I'm not in the mood to hear the fable of the Three Brave Piglets on a Tuesday afternoon. 50 minute yapping session. 2/5, yawn.
Everything sounds the same and just melts together...
I just cannot get on with Dylan
Uhhhhh yuk
