Ya know how beck did a pretty good job at meshing genres? Linkin Park kinda just mashes the playdough together until it looks like something. Was this album a staple of the early 2010s for gaming and edgy teens alike? Yes. Is it something to be held to high musical prowess? Not really.

I haven’t heard this in twenty years since I was in high school. My last memory of it was a school anti drug seminar video that displayed anti drug slogans intermingled with snowboarding clips soundtracked by Crawling. This is dangerous music because it has the power to make you never want to listen to again. Music is a beautiful thing that holds an unlimited amount of power. You can feel the power of this music-and the power to make one never listen to music again is a very dangerous power indeed. Putrid, execrable, grotty, vile, repugnant, displeasing music. If I ever hear someone listening to this near me again I’m gonna run away gonna run away.

A tsunami of awfulness. A ghastly melange of bin-water and toenail scrapings masquerading as music. Avoid.

Very formulaic nu-metal. I never understood why they were so big

Holy shit there is not one millisecond of this album I do not genuinely and deeply hate with all my soul. Cure for the Itch is the best song on this album and it laps the rest so hard and fast that im amazed they wasted their time with other songs.

Sad to say but this being not one of my favourite song genre is going to hurt the scoring of this album. I couldn't go paat the 3rd song cuz most of it felt just drums,guitar and shouts with most of the beeps-boops sounding similar. Couldn't ever hear the lyrics over the instrumentals which is funny cuz this is not a shoegaze album.

Was reading a review of this album and the reviewer put into words how this album sounded to me: overproduced. A wall of guitar sounds. The fake rapping and the screaming - it’s the cheap waxy chocolate version of angsty teenage rebellion.

I like almost nothing about this album. I hate the inorganic guitar sound, the faux outrage, and the shitty vocals. It just sound bland, contrived, and inauthentic. I don't care that I'm in the minority here, it's just not very good. 1 star.

Fuck you, 1001 albums generator. It's a fucking Monday. Fuck you. If I actually like this album it's going to be the start of my midlife crisis. The thing is, if I had been 13 in 2000 when this came out, I might have been a Linkin Park fan. This has that undefined trauma melodramatic feel that I might have gone for at that age. But here's the thing - the first My Chemical Romance album came out two years after this and buried it. Same basic emotional palette, but one of them has good songs.

For many people, this was their entry into the music world, so I thought it had to be an interesting listen of some sorts all these years later. But I would have never thought that I would dislike their debut album to the level I do now. Time has done Hybrid Theory no favors. If there's one positive takeaway, I truly respect Chester Bennington's (RIP) effort on vocals giving it his all, even if comes out as forced and rough on the ears. However, I have no respect for Mike Shinoda's amateurish rap verses and the really gnarly metal guitarwork is consistently gross. Rap rock should stay in the past. Like 99% of its brethren, it's bad. But it's not totally unlistenable even if almost all of the songs are indistinguishable from the others.

Overall did not enjoy. I felt like the combination between "metal" vocals and rapping ruined the songs for me. The one song I knew beforehand, "Crawling", was unbearable to listen to, I had to skip it.

I never were especially interested in Linkin Park when I was young, so I don't really have much nostalgic feelings for the act. I will admit that the hook/chorus to In the End is pretty good, but the song is, like everything else on the album, destroyed by the rapping and the atrociously aged production choices.

Not in my edition of the book! 2000. 1.5 star. Shouty white boy rap metal noise. Gets tedious VERY quickly. Shame, as they seem to be adequate musicians. Not essential listening.

It had its time and place... high school

I realized I was old when Linkin Park became a band that everyone loved. Spare me another venture of white suburban rap over heavy bass-y guitar metal riffs. I realize that Chester Copperpot was a big influence over a generation that followed mine and it seems he had a terrible childhood and wrote some amazing poetry. Sure there are some neat effects, and unique sounds in the production of this album. But I witnessed, and even enjoyed RUN DMC / Aerosmith, Public Enemy / Anthrax and the Beasties, but when the popularity of 311 hit, I knew I wasn't the intended audience of the garbage that would follow. Chalk that up to age I suppose, but aside from reggae, this has to be my least favorite genre.

Not my cup of tea. Don't like the vocals...actually, REALLY don't like the vocals. Don't like the crunchy guitar sound and overall production. Don't like the rap / rock hybrid style. Also find it curious that the "hit" In the End really sounds nothing like the rest of the album, vocals toned down, production toned down, find it kind of disingenuous. 1 star
