Struggled to get on board with this one. I appreciate the creative — and varied — approaches across the board, but there wasn’t much I particularly enjoyed outside of disparate elements here and there. Vocals range from passable to downright awful. DNF. Listened to: walking to BBG. Favorite tracks: I Bleed
Don't like this, didn't finish the album
Tame is way too screamy throughout. Most of the songs had a bit of this, as well as redundancy and more sing-talking (not strong singing) - I did not enjoy this album overall.

I want to like the pixies. Trust me I have tried, but their sound just irks me. I wouldn't return to a single track on this album
I see Pixies and I think of Project Mayhem. Makes me wanna put the film on. But that song wasn't on this album, the whole thing was shit. Disappointed.

Not really excited about this band. I'm not a fan of the vocals for sure. I've heard "Here Comes Your Man" before and didn't realize that was the Pixies.

I understand the punk significance of the Pixies… but this was just meh for me. I did enjoy La La Love You.

Found this album to be very sub par, the music almost sounds muted and lacks energy which is weird because it sounds like they are going for it

Not good. Kind of a mashup of punk, grunge and rockabilly, it was a mess.
Weird mix between The Smiths, The Shins (even though it's before them), also made me think of Franz Ferdinand and some hispanic rock bands from the 80s. Not my style necessarily, but quite a new sound for music in english for 1989. Parts of some songs have that usual 90s distortions, in the guitar and in the voice. The singer is quite charismatic, but it's not something I'd listen to in purpose.

I have heard so much good about this album, and cannot figure out why. I find it really bad.
Idk what this is... Tame is especially grating to the ear, Here Comes Your man was the highest point.

NOT FAB AT ALL DISTASTEFULL
Doe mij maar 100 keer liever Depeche mode of Frank Boeijen dan het zoveelste jaren tachtig-garagebandje, want hier is er weer eentje. Het muzikale equivalent van een hanenkam en een piercing: dingen expres lelijk maken vanuit een soort cynisch nihilisme. En dan moeten we het nog serieus nemen ook.

Touted as one of the most influential bands of the 80s and... I only liked 1 song from this album. Most of the songs don't have a lot of views and rightfully so.

Doesn't work for me
Noisy and teenage frustration bing bang
Decent instrumentals and playing (for the most part, some beats were real real awful) but I just could not get past the singing/vocals. Honestly grating
Can't say this is the weirdest album I've listened to but its up there. I actually like the voice cracks in the singing but the lyrics are too confusing for me.
If asked, I would describe this ad 'shouty punk', bordering on tbrash metal vocal styke. Horrible - hate it.

Ok Jesus Christ I came from an album that already bored me so hard (I listened to 2 this day) and I wantrd to go out but I force myself to listen to this. It's so chaotic to the degree I don't like it. There goes my gun is cool doe, and the last track. 1/5
I really don’t like the singer which I couldn’t get passed. I found the vocals unlistenable at times, particularly in “Tame.” I liked “Here comes your man” but I already knew that one and think it sounded pretty different than everything else I heard on the album. There were a few others I liked, like “Hey” and “Mr. grieves” but overall was not a fan and wouldn’t choose to listen to this album again

It's telling that Here's Comes Your Man is the most popular song from this album. It's catchy, melodic and has a great hook. It's the only song on this album I care for. There are a few others that showed promise in the first few bars, but then the strident guitars, angry vocals and discordant noise kicked in and they lost me. It's just not my kind of music.

The vocals were pretty hard to understand. But I guess that's the style. I thought the best section of the album was Mr. Grieves, Crackity Jones.
Never really like 'punk' music, or anything that was considered grunge. This was really no exception. I enjoyed the backend of the album with Hey being probably my favorite song.
