Go melt
*Meed a “no” star option! No music, just vulgar lyrics
Tento rap tiež nemusím...
Tiresome themes, tiresome sound, tiresome lame rhyming, tiresome profanities.
not my taste
Really not for me. Just can’t appreciate why I would want to listen to this again.
Definitely No.
NWA was dope and that Friday movie was funny but that's about it for this guy. Next!
1 ster.
Fuck ice cube
actually bad
Não gostei não... ouvi a primeira metade do álbum apenas...
rap is not for me
1 Rap de Mierda
Wicked It Was a Good Day Check Yo Self
Didn’t like it all, the language and crudeness were over the top.
Absolute shit throughout!
Jeffrey Epstein.
Guns, murder, sounding tough. 2 decent songs the rest are just noise. The early sign of what was to become of Hip Hop…
i don’t like rap this is so aggressive
Nahhhh
Ok, I tried. I really did. Ice Cube’s two previous albums had been (rightly) criticised for being misogynistic and anti-Semitic. This album was released in the wake of the Rodney King riots, and makes powerful points about racism and police brutality. However, we get to the track Fuck ‘Em which features an excerpt of an interview where he is explicitly asked about calling women “bitches and hoes” and accusations of anti-semitism, and instead of apologising or moving on he just says ‘Fuck ‘em’ and waffles on for a bit. The next track is straight back in with the misogyny. Nope, I’m out.
No thanks!
I had AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted earlier this month. The main lyrical theme of that one was "people hate me, and I wear that as a badge of honour". Which is just the dumbest, most bigheaded message ever. And The Predator seems to continue along the same lines, with gems like Say Hi To The Bad Guy, , and The Predator ("Riots ain't nothing but diets for the system", "I'm meaner than a motherfucking hyena chasing antelope", "Rat-a-tat-tat on your noggin 'cause Ice'll cream your ass like Häagen-Dazs"). Combine that with a healthy Some of the lyrics are pretty harrowing, though, in a good way. When Will They Shoot? has nothing to latch onto musically, and I can't see myself ever listening to it again. But the story it tells is slick, fast, and horrific. I'm glad I didn't live in an American city in the 90s. This record was released right at the crux of the hip-hop "golden age", so you'd think it would showcase some of the best the genre has to offer. It isn't Ice Cube's debut, either, so he's had some time to learn. And yet he still includes interludes that go nothing except act as musically inert ad breaks. If you're putting in a 60-second track, it better as heck have an incredible melody/riff, or else complement the next/previous track excellently. The interludes on this album do neither. I enjoy the secondary vocalist that takes the middle verse in Wicked. The rest of the track is extremely repetitive, but that guy's voice injects some fun into the monotony. In Now I Gotta Wet 'Cha, the brass and bass, despite being pretty repetitive (pretty sure the bass is only two notes) is such a contrast to the four atonal tracks preceding it that it has to be one of my favourites. It Was A Good Day is much the same way. Hopefully Ice Cube realises now that incorporating melody and harmony does wonders for his fans, who very obviously enjoy this kind of music to any of his other work. (1.4 billion streams is, well, a lot of streams.) Dirty Mack does the same thing but with less interesting vocals, and a bizarre baby-sounding vocal harmonising during some parts. Still decent though. Check Yo Self is also strong, and even incorporates some genuine singing for a few seconds. The keyboard part in Don't Trust 'Em is, I suspect, sampled from Steely Dan's Green Earrings. Which is a significantly better track in every way. /5 Key tracks: It Was A Good Day, Dirty Mack, Check Yo Self
Hip Hop, 49 eme album => 1/5
the skill of him to wrap annoying, irritating and boring into 1 album. It hurt my head.
Repetitivo pa carai, gostei não. 2/10
The Predator by Ice Cube is everything I hate about rap. Gangsta rap is dreadful. the lyrics are dated, vile and quite frankly thick! This music just does nothing for me. The music is good throughout on this album but the nature of the lyrics is off putting and not for me. Favourite track: Least favourite track: Album artwork: I dont love it!!
I cant understand why americans like this piece of shit! American rap is irrelevant outside the US. A shit like this on this list is rubbish. dog shitt nigga you know what i mean nigga...im need a pussy and a have a shootgun, my car is beautiful and i am criminals, careful with me in the midnight bro
Early 90s rap was different, not a fan of this album
Nope. Not my kind of music. I can appreciate that it has important social commentary but I’m well beyond listening to hard core rap.
0/5
Mer rap. Såå tråkigt.
Not a fan of ice cube.
The beat is catchy but a polished turd is still a turd
I’ve very much reached old school gangsta rap fatigue with this challenge. The socio-political issues are still relevant, and I’m sure this album was important for its time. But the medium of the message is just really not appealing to me. It Was a Good Day sounds like it should be a chill good time if you don’t listen too closely to the lyrics. Check Yo Self - same sample as Shoop? I’d rather just listen to Salt-n-Pepa.
Abhorrent. Nearly got me arrested.
I guess this album is on the list to remind everybody that there are a lot of terrible and horrible music out there which can only be feared.
I love hois acting but his music is too dark for me, sorry
Another nope from me. I need to hear something musically interesting to engage me. This is low grade music with all the emphasis on the lyrical content - which is fine for most people. Not me.
The guy from Boyz n the hood, Barbershop 2 and XXX: Return of Xander Cage made music? All kidding aside Ice cube has done a lot of good songs throughout his career. I have problems separating the artist from the art though and the shit he has done since 2020 leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I’ve heard worse.
The Predator by Ice Cube is a disappointing album. The music is repetitive and lacks creativity, while the lyrics are filled with violent and offensive language. The overall experience is unpleasant and fails to engage or entertain.
ma bbooona
Hip Hip. That is and remains a kind of unmusic. Listened to three tracks, the usual shouting. Only "It Was a Good Day" seemed to contain melody. But then I didn't feel like it anymore. 1/5
I recognize the significance of this album and the talent of Ice Cube and his producers, but really found most of this album off-putting and too violent.
Shieeet... overdeveloped, underdeveloped, a bad song's a bad song
Fuck this noise. Just an angry black man.
Ice Cube is ja mal richtig schlecht…
Rap, again? Nope 1/5. NOT music. At best, spoken word or poetry. Wannabe actors, one and all.
I wanted to turn this off after the first song but had to stick with the promise to listen to every album back to back at least once before rating. Still had to leave out the last 3 tracks, because I still like my sanity intact, thank you very much. This whole thing is just rambling over a backing track, which sounds like a bunch of banging noises thrown at a wall but no one gives a shit what sticks. I suppose people often praise rap/hip hop stuff for their lyrics, but there were just too much cuss words and violent imagery and misogynistic lines for me to want to pay attention anymore. If I could give any rating lower than 1 I would. I would even take Morrissey's whining than whatever this is, and everyone knows I hate that lad. It was, unironically, not a good day.
just not for me at all, struggled to get through this 1/5
No me gusto
Rap? Nein!
Nope, absolutely not. This album personifies not only everything wrong with a genre, but with the culture that supports it.
I must have missed this one in 92. Pretty terrible still. I had to wait until everyone was out of the house to play it.
are we there yet?
Just not my kind of music 1/5
Waaay to rude songs... I don't want to be angry. Rap really just isn't for me. Especially "gangsta rap". I struggle to call it music. It was not a good day
Fuori contesto
The issues are important, but I can't listen to explicit lyrics over and over.
no thank you.
1.5 I’m sure there’s probably some very important lyrics on this album but as always lyrics don’t mean that much to me. The music matters so much more and it’s awful on this album. Every song is literally a 2 measure beat that loops for the entirety of the song
Las letras me han parecido horrorosas
I knew that I wasn't going to like this album so I decided to have fun with it. I stopped listening to a song when a profanity, the "N" word or any word that degraded women appeared in the lyrics and/or title. That album went by REALLY fast!
Another crappy rap album. N bombs and f bombs galore.
unbekannt
Swearing, listened for 5 seconds
Lord, have mercy on my soul. Sorry.
Interesting insight into a different culture. Hip Hop is still not for me though. Music sounds like lofi style but in hifi.
Schlimmer Rap
Spotify would not play because of \"explicit lyrics\" for which reason it should receive a 1/2 star at best
old school rough all explicit
It was a good day 5/5 kitaratausta.
Second Ice Cube album served to me here offers more of the things I couldn’t stand in the previous one.
Too many cuss words for me.
Too vulgar for my virgin ears
Not for me
My rating says it all. Scale: 5 - My absolute favorites. 4 - Albums I like. 3 - It was ok to listen to but I wouldn't seek it out. 2 - Didn't like. 1 - Absolute shit.
Blegh
Yes. I listened to this whole thing. Well, okay… at least the first 45 seconds of every track. So I can confidently say that I tried, but this just wasn't for me.
p697. 1992. 1 star. The usual foul mouthed tedious (c)rap. Sample lyrics: fuck, nigga, motherfucker, shit, bitch, whore. No thanks.
Not my thing
It's just not my style of music.
Ugh.
Mediokrer Gangster Rap
super predator
Not important enough to be on this list. Many people will say this is important due to societal topics being mentioned. Yet... this type music creates more societial ills. Such as the embrace of violence, misogynistic language, and helping popularizing racially explicit terms to a wider non-african american audience. Such attitudes can only cause divisions between people and lessen the percieved value of human life. He could have used his voice to help overcome many issue in his community and America in general. Concerning the music... Wicked is nothing but another example of the overused funky worm sample. Good Day is a hip-hop classic of course. Check Yo Self sampled "I'm Blue" by The Sweet Inspirations... that sample was later popularized with the the song Shoop by Salt-N-Pepa. Das EFX is always a treat to hear even though their popularity was short lived. Who's Got the Camera is a clever song about police brutality. Honestly when this was released I wasn't impressed and thought it was Cube's weakest release at that point. I'm still not impressed.
Too obscene for me, I’m aftaid to say!
Not for me.
seriously
beurk
One decent song. Otherwise: i can’t get into this type of rap. Just not good music imo. He’s just an angry man yelling into the mic. Don’t like this shit at all.
This list has taught me I really don’t like Ice Cube. Better actor than rapper? Food for thought….
This was an alright album. "Good Day" was the best song and others didn't come close. I don't rate the more politically charged albums based on the politics or subject matter in which they are performing, but I felt the beats and flow were lacking in a lot of songs. It has a strong message that's worth sharing, especially based on the Rodney King Riots, but in my opinion it's just not good musically.
That's not music.
"Gangsta" rap and Hip-Hop trash. 1/5
It Was A Good Day is nice, the rest is trash
Nope
Fuck off 1
It was a Good Day is a 5 star song on an album full of noise. Gangster Rap is a headache waiting to happen. I did find the intro interesting. Ice Cube is one of the biggest hypocrites out there. He does have another good song out there, You Can Do It. Other than that, F that clown and turn in your gangster card Mr. Hollywood.
I get the point of the album. But the misogyny, the violence, the language: it's all waaay too much. And I just don't like the macho persona. As far as the music is concerned, it's boring and repetitious.
Nej tack!
Nup
Don’t get it, but ok, never really got captured by hip-hop music. Not my kind of music
Not my jam
I hate this rubbish. I've heard this message without all the vileness.
Awfully music…
Varför terroriseras jag av sånt här skit. Schas!
Pure shite
Boring rap music.
I don't like this band.
Not a rap fan. Some songs had what sounded like newscaster or interview audio playing over the beat, that was sorta interesting
I can't take Ice Cube seriously anymore
No!! Just no, and really fail to understand how it made the list
Wanker^
Ooh, I’m a gangsta futha mucker! Yawn.
I'm not an old head. It's not for me. I always have preferred the jazz style rap from this time. Sure, it's technically proficient, but I still really don't care. Highlight: 2.
Hip hop is not my jam and the lyrics really turned me off in this one.
shit and boring and reptitive
Nah
Gangsta rap
Aggressively shout foul, violent lyrics to a catchy beat, keep going for 3-4 minutes & repeat 16 times.
Nope
🤮
Utter rubbish
All I want to say about this album is...there are way superior sounding Ice Cube lp’s in my opinion. Therefore I cannot rate this one high. As matter of fact, I probably rank this album lower than all of his others. Therefore I give it 1 Star!
RAP a todo tRAPo. No es para mi
not my music
