Reviews (page 6 of 13)

Definitely a classic. Every song is memorable.

The iconic duo's final album is definitely their best. Classic songs, surprisingly varied and dynamic, and excellent songwriting and performances all around. A real treat.

My favorite is The Boxer

Beautiful

I mean this is it man.

Amazing, bringing back memories

Good stuff better than i expected

I am humming the songs even before listening to the album.

It's a 5 star from me. Every song is so beautiful in it's own way. Definitely one of best albums of all time

A tour de force

Opens with an absolute banger, so many songs on this album I didn't realise were them. It's incredible on first listen, will be listening again

I forgot how SHORT this album is. Clocking in at under 40 minutes and that includes a live track. Not to be missed.

listened to it twice! wonderful

Best S&G album and just one of my favorites

ok i've got my nostalgia goggles on for sure but this is great, full of stellar songwriting. this album features some of the best s&g songs period. i never noticed how cool the chords in so long frank lloyd wright are. even though i love it, can't give it a perfect score bc it has some more forgettable tracks and i've always found El Condor Pasa to be a little heavy handed. 9/10

What an album. Excellent pacing, loved how it swapped between silly and poignant. 10

9/10. Had a few very good songs, and then some others that just blended into a pleasant background. I especially liked The Boxer.

Did not expect to get a 5 star album so quick. Happy memories combined with amazing harmonies, songwriting and music.

Who doesn't love a little S&G?

My parents had this album in the house and I have since inherited it. It will always have a place in my rotation.

Clásico brutal.

Gorgeous, heartbreaking, one-of-a-kind...this and Bookends are my favorite S&G works ever!!!

Absolute banger.

Classic

4.5 / 5. Bye, Bye Love is a horrible addition to this album. Everything else is great.

Loved them since I was a kid. Never in life have I gotten tired of listening to Simon & Garfunkel. Bridge Over Troubled Water is one of the best songs in history. Huge fan of The Only Living Boy in NY, The Boxer, and El Condor Pasa. Easy 5 stars for me. If you don't like this album, I can't hang out with you.

What a great album; choc full of songs that have become "standards" The Boxer competes with The Sound of Silence as my favorite S & G song. What always takes me aback is how these guys can ROCK, as they are known as siger-songwriters/folk stars. But to me bands like Wilco and the Shins owe them a huge debt. Favorite tracks; El Condor Passa Celia The Boxer The Only Living Boy in New York ...and of course the title track. 5 🌟

Not only does this album represent the best of Simon & Garfunkel, it also looks ahead to Paul Simon's later work in exploring Latin American and African music. As always, the harmonies are tight, and Simon's lyrics are among the best in the American songbook. On a personal note, Simon & Garfunkel always make me feel nostalgic in a way I can't quite put my finger on. One of the greatest duos of all time.

classic

Absolutely fabulous album from start to finish

Definitely deserves a spot on this list

The piano in bridge over troubled water is beautiful wow. The chords are great. I used to not really like Simon and Garfunkel but I recently listened to bookends and I really loved it. I’m glad I’m listening to another album of theirs. I loved that album.

Well done, S&G

Amazing. So good. The Boxer is one of the GOATs.

A classic

Mellow album with their best songs on it

Echt top album.

Klassieker!

Een voor een allemaal fantastische nummers.

Classic. Search the hard drive of anyone who says otherwise

FUCKING GREAAAAT

Wonderful and calming

Mooie harmonieën. 'The Boxer' is een prachtnummer.

I liked it. I liked it. A lot.

Splendid album.

Beautiful album 😍

Amazing songwriting. Genius.

what a pleasure to listen to this through again. i think there's only 1 song i don't like but even then, just songwriting at it's best. 9/10

Bra album. Vil høre igjen

The end of an era. Dream is over. And the record is brilliant

BAITA ÁLBUM, MÚSICAS TOP

Loved it. One of my dad's favorite albums. I remember him blasting Cecilia from the back of his van. I'm happy to hear it again.

I liked every song on this album, and I think the organization of the album was really good, too.

Amazing that I've been hearing these songs for over forty years and that first one can still make me cry. The percussion and instrumentals on Cecelia are delightful. Each time I order a lager I sing "I'd rather be a lager than an ale" to the tune of El Condor Pasa. The range on this album is impressive as hell. I love how many songs are quiet with only guitar, some have choir backing vocals, some have horns or flutes, and each fit the song perfectly, and the songs flow together in an album so well

All good songs on the album. Favorite Song: The Boxer.

Great one!

They went out on top here.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" es una obra de arte apenas manchada por las exageraciones al final de la canción. Pero además están "The Boxer", "Cecilia", y "Baby Driver" que también rifan. Y me animo a darle las 5 estrellas aunque "El Condor Pasa" no es lo mío, pero incluso en esa el arreglo musical es una chulada.

Iconic, important, wonderful

It's 50 years old and I could still listen to it anytime.

Classic

Well that was an absolute joy from start to finish. Haven't listened to this album since schooldays and it hasn't aged or waned an iota. Stunningly beautiful.

Lots of great hits, including the title song, "The Boxer", "Cecilia". Love it.

Awesome

I sensed some kind of religious undertone from the jump. That promise was fulfilled, and well, with string arrangements galore and a disarming, beautiful, succinct closer. I've mentioned the striving for a religious experience before; Here the album succeeds at it. The songs are not yet sticky in my brain, but it's the kind of project I can see myself considering perfect.

Love this album, it's been a favorite of mine for years

Solid line up of timeless ones there

Solid Simon & Garfunkel

Track 1 : good opener, solid build in dynamics that keep the song moving in a forward direction, love the mixing on the drums very atmospheric. 6/10 Track 2: very mid-evil vibes, reminds me of Sumer of 1353 by Flight of the Concords, love Paul’s vocal flips on this track, overall solid song. 7/10 Track 3: groovy drums, millennial hope core vibes, definitely would consider this a guilty pleasure. 6/10 Track 4: makes me wanna bob up and down, same vibes as Baby Driver, like the instrumental choices, horns and Wurlitzer are a nice touch. 6/10 Track 5: Idk who Frank Loyd Wright is but he’s a lucky man to have Paul Simon write this beautiful song about him, bossanova drums are soothing, flute might make me transcend. 6/10 Track 6: The best S&G song fight me, perfect harmonies, love the bassoon?, lovely instrumental choices for the bridges, very whimsical but also so fucking depressing, once again the drum mixing is fantastic, the way the ending of Dramamine scared Degnan is the same way the ending of The Boxer scares me. 10/10 Track 7: I’m hopping, I’m bopping, I’m moving, I’m grooving, just a tremendously energetic banger. 9/10 Track 8: solid S&G track, the outro is the best part. 7/10 Track 9: haven’t listened to too much S&G but this is by far the grooviest of their albums that I’ve heard, just your basic mid-late 60s pop song, seems like they were trying to emulate the Beatles Rubber Soul vibes somewhat. 7/10 Track 10: since it’s a live version I will refrain from making any statements on the mix or sound quality, that being said the claps are too loud and annoy me, other than not liking how it sounds it’s a good pop performance from Paul, I do like the slap back in the bass. 5/10 Track 11: like the transition from the last song to this one, like the chord changes, the strings add a lightness that greatly benefits the song, solid album closer. 7/10 Overall: 4/5 Favorite track: The Boxer Least Favorite track: Bye Bye Love

Some great songs on this album.

This was a pleasant Saturday morning listen. Good classic songs that just start the day off right.

Fully appreciate this album and Paul Simon's voice is goated and I love half the songs on this album, but it took some listening and the other half fell a little short for me and including the title track and I was gonna give this a 3 but somehow talked myself into a 4 and don't ask why. 4/5 Top tracks: El Condor Pasa, So Long Frank Lloyd Wright, The Boxer, The Only Living Boy in New York

Yeah good

Compared to the 1 star I gave to Bookends, this one is a revelation. Although I'm not a fan of Simon & Garfunkel's folk, this is an undeniable record.

classic

Some very famous songs on this album, I think it’s definitely the case though that these songs very much overshadowed the other songs on the album, still a very good album but feels really weird listening to it with two massive songs and then others with not much attention given to them

Pretty much what I expected from this duo.

Bridge Over Troubled Water, the song, I always associate with my dog who passed away about 5 years ago. She was very sick and when driving away from the vet where she passed lovingly in my arms this song came on shuffle and cut through me like a knife Miss you Pika.

Classic.

Excellent

Geweldige plaat. Oh.

Didn’t think much of it but I tolerated it. I’m giving this 4 stars.

Great album, beautiful introspective lyricism throughout. The soft yet complicated instrumentation is such a treat to the ears.

Good memories

I like the deepcuts here more than the break out songs. El condor pasa and Baby Driver are my favorites off this album. Simon & Garfunkel have a lot of brilliant stuff, this feels like it’s a bit more 70’s thrift store vibe though. The popular songs on here are a bit overplayed for me at this point.

I’m finding the more I listen to Paul Simon involved albums on this list the more I respect him as a songwriter, but on this recording I was impressed by the arrangements and production as much as the songwriting. There are just some really inspired, classy touches that I love, like the ghostly super-reverby snare accents in The Boxer. The songwriting and performances are on point too. When all three elements work together as they often do, the result is pretty compelling. As corny as it is, it’s hard to deny how evocative the title track is.

way better than i expected

Great album. The Boxer has always been one of my favorite songs of all time

In retrospect, this album sounds like a fitting capstone to the Simon & Garfunkel juggernaut and a launchpad for the former’s solo career — especially in the variety of styles it mines. “Keep the Customer Satisfied” sounds like something from a 70s variety show, “Baby Driver” echoes the 1950s, while “So Long, FLW” is a pretty sly farewell song to his partner. Good songs enhanced by rich production that brings out the multiple textures of the arrangements. 4.5.

a classic. streaming it for now, but this evening i'll go listen to my cassette. although streaming is a slightly higher fidelity musical experience than my cassette... that's alright i don't think this album insists upon a high fidelity musical experience. song about architect?!?! automatic 5/5! jk the boxer is a classic. el condor pasa too. it's a good album. classic acoustic. i don't think i would say it's *perfect*, but i couldn't pin down what it's missing. i think it's a solid 4/5.

Bridge over Troubled water, hieno biisi, hieno albumi. Helppo ja vahva 4/5

Why on earth have I spent so much time not having listened to this album? This was BEAUTIFUL

Really good. I enjoyed the hell out of this. They have a sound that so easy to listen to. I understand that the discourse is between this and Bookends for their best work…before this week I hadn’t listened to either in full. Both are such easy, enjoyable listens. I think this might win though. This seems fuller, little bit richer, more in bloom or matured songwriting and performing. The whole thing, really good.

Älskar virveln i The boxer!

Fantastic, start to end. 9/10

Simon & Garfunkel are rightfully considered one of the great duos of all time and it's easy to point to Simon's writing ability, which is undoubtedly great. But the way they harmonize has always been the highlight for me and many others. This is certainly true on this album. There are a ton of excellent songs on this. The title track is one of the great songs of all time, but it goes beyond just that timeless classic. Cecilia is great, as is The Boxer. Both really well written songs: one catchy, one more emotional. There's also El Condor Pasa, Baby Driver, The Only Living Boy In New York. Even Bye Bye Love is good on this album, even though it is not a Simon composition. So much to love and appreciate about this record. I know some will not like it because it feels dated, though I love it because it is timeless. A great album. 4 stars.

Very lovely, and I've always enjoyed music like this. "The Boxer" is an absolute fucking slam dunk of a song. I won't say I love every minute on this album, and at times it gets a little too sweetie-pie for me, but overall it's gorgeous and wonderful. Imagine naming your kid "Art Garfunkel". Yikes, man. Surely he got bullied?

The culmination of their career as a duo Some of the best songwriting I’ve heard

First full listen and wow, like I wanted to hate so much. I generally feel like what the world needs now is another folk singer ( on this list circa 65-75) like I need a hole in my head, but this was amazing. Probably 5 worthy 4++

Great album and I can see why it’s so highly regarded.

I love the type of music, makes me feel calm and cozy.

Inoffensive and well written folk songs. 3.5/5

Beautiful and pleasant

I think the title track may be the weakest song on the album.

Their other albums on their list didn't quite do it for me and I dismissed them as a singles band. This one was fantastic, though. They really saved the best for last.

Gode greier.

Sterk firer.

I've heard every track from this album at some point but never listened to it in one sitting.

Awesome

As an album as a whole it slots in somewhere behind Sounds of Silence, but 'The Only Living Boy in New York' is up there in my top three S&G songs

The song made me feel in a magical forest, with the sun in the background. The song certainly had its highs in: bridge over troubled water and the boxer, easily one of the best folk rock songs I've heard. However, the mixing is not the best, the change between fast and slow songs did not please me very much. The lyrics are beautiful and are certainly great for pulling a guitar and humming in a camping fire.

Incredible songwriting and production for its time. Paul Simon in his creative peak. Sounds really dated but still very enjoyable.

This album is one of those contemplative, Sunday afternoons at the park as your consciousness moves from an image, to work, to an itch, to a blank space, to a word, to a color, all seamlessly.

The album's first half is perfect. The quality isn't horrible after that point, but the songs become a little kitschier and less impressive. The closing 2 tracks return to form, especially Song For Asking. 8.5 T3: Cecilia, SLFLW, Song For Asking

The standout tracks on this album are really wonderful songs which are utterly timeless. There's a little too much filler for the album to be perfect, but it's still very good.

Really good

8.0/10 Really solid album.. close to 5 stars

i felt like i was walking through a fantastical forest, really beautiful album. definitely not completely my thing, but it felt really consistent and although the songs themselves weren't the most fun, the album didn't feel like a slog to get through.

It’s weirdly soothing for an album I have never listened to. Now granted I was already familiar with a handful of songs but nonetheless it felt like being home. Is it bad though that I think I might prefer the vamps cover of Cecilia.. Anyways, the harmonies on this album are immaculate, there’s nothing I love more than a good harmony, and it just hits different when two men can harmonise well. I genuinely think this album is a grower for me, like it rated so highly by people so I’m thinking that after a deep dive on the lyrics I may eventually rate this album significantly higher but for now, on first listen it’s a solid score I think, for an album I have yet to fathom anyways. 78/100

Kannte vorher nur einzelne Songs. Stark, Neuentdeckung.

Really really great. Their best, not simons best, but their best together. Very good Boxer, bridge, cecilia, the album tracks Gold Highest of 4s

I can’t rate 5 because Cecilia is giving me stomp-clap-hey flashbacks. Still an amazing album. The Boxer is my favorite and El Condor.

This is a really beautifully written and performed album, and the harmonies throughout are lovely. Their voices mix incredibly well, and the lyrics are emotionally connecting. The only downside, in my opinion, is that the second half of the album just isn't as strong as the first half. The album starts with some really great tracks, before delving into songs that kind of blend into each other if you aren't concentrating. In all, though, a great listen. Favourites: Bridge Over Troubled Water Cecilia The Boxer So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright

I’ve always been a “Greatest Hits” listener to S&G, so it was interesting to add some texture to the songs here I know well. There are several standouts here, but Bridge Over Troubled Water itself is the album’s towering achievement. The vocal performance is Garfunkel’s best, aided by a production that ebbs and flows, swelling into a bombastic finish that’s totally earned. The Boxer and The Only Living Boy in New York are my other personal highlights, with If I Could and Song for the Asking not too far behind. I won’t say the more-upbeat tracks are misses. I do enjoy them, but they’re not on the same level to me. I wasn’t a huge fan of including the live version of Bye Bye Love. Overall, I think the stronger material in the singles separates itself from the filler tracks, but the whole experience was enjoyable and has me wanting to delve into the rest of their catalogue. Might be my strongest 4/5 so far.

This was nice background music :) 3.5

Nice album os this wonderful pair.

Their final and probably most beautiful album together, at least compared to PSR&T and Bookends, which I’ve been served here previously. Some of that production expertise from Bookends was put behind some stunning songs on this collection, namely the title track.

Incredible. Not quite as delightful to me as a plain ol Simon album, but the next best thing!

I don't know. I think I liked it. I liked multiple songs, anyway. Honestly, I need to go through it again because I wasn't in a great mood and it didn't have my full attention. "Cecilia" is such a jam, though. 3.5 Stars

Great album! Some classic S&G songs

I had a discussion recently with a friend about perfect songs. One title I offered was America by Simon and Garfunkel. That song isn't on this album, but I say that to show how highly I regard Paul Simon as a songwriter. I've heard many say that Bridge Over Troubled Water is both Simon and Garfunkel's greatest song AND greatest album. But my hot take is that though these are great, their previous album Bookends is the best. And though the title track here is good, I just don't love it. I can't put my finger on it -- maybe it's that Artie's voice just isn't powerful enough for such a big song... but I definitely prefer other Simon and Garfunkel songs over it. I put The Boxer at the top. Songs that showcase their vocal harmonies like this song really soar. I love the bass harmonica... and that line "a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest" is such a great lyric! Keep the Customer Satisfied is a rollicking tune and I think the only one in Simon and Garfunkel's catalog to feature brass instruments. El Condor Pasa seems to foreshadow Simon's interest in world music that would show up in later solo albums... along with the Boss Nova feel of So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright -- both great songs. And I had a friend in high school who loved Baby Driver -- it's such a fun song that always makes me think of her. This album is almost a five for me -- if I liked the title track better, it probably would be.

Took a little time but did click. This is beautiful and well-executed and on a different way in each track. From the power of the title track, to the harmonies on The Boxer, to the fun on Keep the Customer Satisfied and so much more, this is sweet. 2 listens Favorite Tracks: Keep the Customer Satisfied, Title Track, The Boxer

Expectation: -> Well known title track (and presumably album) but what's with that album cover photo? After listening: -> Did not expect to like this. Almost do not want to like this. But I do. It is just plain good. Comforting melodies and vocals, with some fun upbeat tunes. Interesting use of instruments/sounds. Somewhat reluctantly and unexpectedly, this is a 4. Track ranking: Boxer Condor Bridge Cecilia Boy Bye Satisfied Write Baby FLW Asking

Very enjoyable

Some hits and slow songs. Overall good album

Favorite songs: Bridge over Troubled Water, Cecilia, Keep the Customer Satisfied, So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright, The Boxer, The Only Living Boy in New York

3.5 stars album, loved the sensibility behind the songwriting and arrangement

This is inarguably a classic album and seems to have been more or less canonized as such, but I'd never listened to the whole thing at once before. Folk/Folk-rock isn't really my genre but there are certainly exceptions and this album is definitely one. It's extremely well done. The title track remains a lush, supportive track and Art Garfunkel's voice is perfect for it. I do greatly prefer "Cecilia," "The Boxer," and "The Only Living Boy In New York" though, and I think it's because they're slightly more uptempo. Lyrically, Paul Simon does a great job of communicating the feelings of loneliness, poor communication, and mocking Bob Dylan very well...

I've never listened to this cover to cover, a fantastic album that I'll be returning to and looking to add to my vinyl collection.

Great mustache, great sound. Some really amazing songs (e.g. if I could or the boxer). Good to hang out

First of all: can't unsee Garfunkel's magnificent moustache, and that's a good thing. The title track and "The Boxer" are so good and quite breathtaking when listened to at proper volume. The rest of the album was surprisingly diverse musically and also really enjoyable apart from like two boring numbers (and what about that live version near the end? The clapping and cheering was annoying and the song wasn't that good). All in all: 3,5/5 - strong

I quite like it, I think that Cecelia is the obvious winner here because it's so happy, having said that, the boxer is also phenomenal, and hell, the title track alone.

These guys were at the top of their (or anyone's) game here. Just banger after banger after banger.

I'd rather listen to a classic Simon & Garfunkel album than half the mediocre rock on this list. Yes I would. If I could. I surely would.

Finally it isn't dad rock. Still not sure I'll return to listen to it.

A wonderful album right at the intersection of folk and rock.

Fue un buen acompañamiento Rutero

A mix of inspirations in this album, so sometimes I wish it leaned harder to the inspirations I have an affinity towards, but all in all it's an enjoyable listen, if not exceptional, start to finish. With Simon & Garfunkel I always feel that there's a potential there for something more that's not quite realized, maybe if they had stuck together a bit longer we'd see it happen.

I enjoyed most of this, pretty good overall.

Classic

A beautiful album by two great artists who just couldn't get along. It having The Boxer on here ensures a score of 4. Cecilia is probably my second favorite track on the album.

wasn't hyped but there are some straight beautiful songs in this bad boy. favorite song is the title track, or El Condor Pasa (If I Could). strong 4

A really great album.

ripper. Classic. Many ear worms. “Paul Simon finds songs in the wind. The challenge for us ordinary musicians is to think of them before he does” - Some reviewer about Paul Simon i don’t remember the exact quote. He’s the goat

I'm bumping this up mostly for The Only Living Boy in New York which for a while was one of my favourite songs. I forgot how much I like The Boxer too though.

Great album with some of their biggest hits. Only downside is cohesion and a little bit of filler

I thought I'd like this more than I did, but it's okay. It's good stuff! I'm proud of them making stomp-clap-burger music before the millennials had a chance to be born - thank you to Cecilia, which is one of the best songs on here tbh

This is one of those albums that I’d say I enjoy on paper but have a difficult time sitting through. Some of these songs are so ubiquitous, it felt like I was listening to a commercial. Not S&G’s fault of course. Objectively I would say this is still a great album. Quality in a vacuum: 4.5 Enjoyment: 2.5-3

Definitely loved this one more in my younger days but it still holds up even though the title track is a bit schmaltzy.

Still brings a tear to the eye.

Todas as músicas parecem que vão ficar insanas e no fim é tudo meio pau mole

Super classudo!

Just so nice. Very white though isn't it. Favorite Tracks: The Boxer, The Only Living Boy In New York 4.4/5

temazos, re tranqui 8/10

Such serious perfect music. Almost a little solemn,. 3-4 epic all time tunes.....just not exactly lighthearted or fun.

i enjoyed the album, sounds like straight from Inside Lleywn Lewis

goated

Really enjoyed "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright"

This is the kind of thing I typically don't like at all, but you can't deny this is just a good album.

very versatile and diverse. rock folk but has a song that sounds like and argentine folklore. i like hearing different instruments than the ones that i am use to. it gives me the idea of what 70’s america’s music sounds like.

Great harmony with these two, second favorite album for me

Walking bass everywhere, father of modern ballads

bummer, not what I want during work hours tbh. Still an all time great though

If you want singer songwriter music, this is it.

I really enjoyed listening to this album. There isn’t one type of song on it, there’s all kinds, for a plethora of different emotions. Loved it!

a good 7.5/10

I give it a 3.5 stars out of 5

Good, but too folky for me

Bridge Over Troubled Waters // The Boxer //

Obviously a classic. Fav song: Only Living Boy in New York

The album cover photo is kind of telling as Simon's solo career would soon near completely eclipse Garfunkel's. Nevertheless, AG has his finest moment singing lead on the title track. The Boxer is outstanding as well. Definitely a classic. 4/5

Perfect album!

Mijn favoriet nummer: keep the customer satisfied, Maar 'bridge over troubled water', 'Cecilia' en 'el condor pasa' (if I would) komen dichtbij.

A stellar product of its time, with inciteful and cutting analysis of social and spiritual shit.

So lovely. Clarified some frustrations with Baby Driver (the movie)

i find it so badass when people release their best album as their last album... logically you'd really want to capitalize off of a hugely critically acclaimed album right? these guys were like whatever fuck it. and just for the record im team art fuck paul simon.

slow, chill, good for background at work.

The whole album is fine, the song The boxer is a WOW.

I have never listened to this album before, but I was familiar with over half of the tracks - this thing is just full of hits. I can't say I'm overly keen on the title track actually, but nonetheless it's a brilliant album, and is deserved of its reputation. Favourites: Cecilia So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright The Only Living Boy in New York

After a run of some albums that I really didn’t enjoy, we move on to this album which I have never listened to fully before. Yes I’ve heard a few of the tracks here and there. But this was a very welcome change. There’s something about the title track that just has to be played loud when listening through headphones. The build up of the piano. The final note being held. Chills. Literal chills. This was an enjoyable listen and I will definitely revisit again in the future a solid four stars here, starting the week strong. Standout tracks - The Boxer and The Only Living Boy in New York

the instrumentals are awesome a very nice folk rock vibe kind of wistful

Very good album. Not a big fan of "El condor pasa" or the "Bye, bye love" cover. But I really liked The Boxer, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, or The Only Living Boy in New York.

Favorite tracks: Bridge Over Troubled Water, El condor pasa, The Boxer, Baby Driver, The Only Living Boy in New York

Favourite Songs: Keep The Customer Satisfied

All time classic with some all time great songs. Never listened to them a lot growing up but some of these songs are part of culture.

Parts of this are incredible 10/10 but sometimes the lullaby quality tips over a bit too far. Will absolutely be listening again tho.

This was pretty good, hey! Who would’ve thought? Recognised more than I expected to, which is always a pleasant surprise

As a collection of songs, this is probably Simon and Garfunkel’s most complete and strongest selection. The Boxer is their best song by a country mile. Only Living Boy in New York would be any other bands best song. Sometimes this steers too far into ‘cheese’. Bridge Over Troubled Water is too cheesy for its own good and doesn’t register as one or Paul Simon’s best to me. Maybe when Elvis turns it into a completely camp, smoking mess, but not when ol’ Art here is singing with as much sincerity as he can muster.

I remember hearing this one when younger

Heartfelt and not trying to be too cool.

Pretty great

I listened to half so far need to hear rest but pretty good

Was glad to hear “condor” cus played it in violin concert. Cosy playlist. Discovered that “sound of silence” is their

3 amazing songs on it

Bridge Over Troubled Water is a beautiful album. Coming in, I expected a quieter album due to the ones I knew already being quiet, but there were livelier numbers along with the softer ones. The power of their voices is undeniable!

The title track and the boxer have aged beautifully. the quieter tracks are graceful and the melodies are consistently lovely. some of the more jaunty numbers feel a bit stale but still wield a refreshing mix of styles, including jazz, r&b, soft rock, country and folk. a rewarding listen overall and one i wish to return to.

Beautifull album, some filler imo, but has some great highs. 1. Cecilia 2. The only living boy in New York 3. Bridge over troubled water

Rating 7/10. Best Song - Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Great album

Todella loistava levy. 4,25/5.

A masterpiece by the New York City duo, it is packed with hits and is such a beautiful and enjoyable listen. 9/10 [KEEP]

When this showed up on my list I was going to skip it. But I am glad I didn't. I really enjoyed the album, other than So Long Frank Loyd Wright, which I couldn't get into.

Viele bekannten Lieder alle auf diesen Album. Kann man hören. Aber wird kein Favorit. Keine Überraschung dabei. Die nicht bekannten Lieder sind halt ok.

An album cover we all know. I really liked this album, it was clever, easy to listen to and warming

More varied than I remember. Some really great songs, one or two just okay ones. Not much more to say other than a very good album overall.

With its blending of styles and tight harmonies, it's clear why this is a classic. It's impossible not to feel emotions hearing Art Garfunkel's solo on the title track. The whole album evokes comfort and warmth.

They hit every time. It's sweet, it's nice, it's filled with misery.

4/5 Another lovely Simon & Garfunkel album that made me feel melancholy. It's a good one.

A classic with some big hits.

Sweet, cute tunes, love Celia. Feels like a treat.

Important album with some amazing songs however not one of my favourites.

Fabulous.

Perfectly good album. I enjoy the harmonies and the acoustic vibes from it. The Boxer is my favorite track.

Not a fan of the mix. Some of the ancillary sounds are way too up front. The songs are great for the most part but become overdone suddenly.

Enjoyed the folky 60s instrumentation. Probably controversial, however I find the Simon and Garfunkels singing/harmonising too cloying or precious. It does suit their music but its not for me. I really didn't get the reverence people have for Cecelia. I don't mind BOTW even if it is a bit sappy (prefer covers), and I have always liked The Boxer. I don't quite see this come together as an album, and beginning with BOTW is a curious decision. Overall very conflicted on rating this betwen a 3 and 4

the album shares a chill vibe and i think it is perfect for moments when you are on your own company. Feels like cooking pasta for one and enjoying the plate with the satisfaction of having yourself back again.

Good one.

Wouldn't haven thought to like this album so much. So many well known songs, that I never really listened to. A lot more complex/interesting things going than I thought

Album that manages to hide a lot of complexity under a very pop surface, effortlessly integrating influences from other genres. Highlight: So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright

Clearly a historically very important album. Maybe because it was so influential, it just sounded a bit tired to me. Some songs did stand out: The Boxer and Cecilia. I will listen to those again, for sure.

Very nearly perfect - songs like bridges themselves, sung etween friends, between childhood and adulthood. Transcendent, innocent, incredible. High 4 (can't stand bye bye love)

Definitely a nostalgiafest. Also beautiful.

Short, sweet, and packed with jams!

Helluva an opener, and at least four tracks on here that are absolute classics. Overall album length is spot on too.

Used to crank this. I do have a kind of magnetic repulsion / attraction to the folk scene in general, sometimes I'm super into it and other times I cringe. This record's got some bangers tho, and I became familiar with it during an impressionable time in my life. Simon and Garfunkel at their best. Art Garfunkel is such a cool name, what happened to him? My impression is that he kinda fell off whereas Paul Simon went big...? The crowd clapping along in Bye Bye Love annoys me. Shaddap.

Over expectations

Listening session: february 15th, while going for a walk Listened to before: listened to a few songs before Thoughts: the more harmonies, the better in my opinion Favourite tracks: Bridge Over Troubled Water, So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright & The Boxer

Excellent album.

It was good! I loved the songs with the folk vibe more than the songs with an early The Beatles vibe ngl but the album was very solid

Gotta reserve the fifth star for Bookends.

Song(s) added to my 1001 Bangers playlist: Bridge Over Troubled Water, Cecilia, The Boxer, The Only Living Boy In New York

Only contains a good handful of the most iconic songs ever written!

Their best album

Classic love the production on the boxer. And baby driver is an underrated song.

Tämä on kaikin puolin helevetin hyvä levy

When going through a bunch of Folk classics I skipped one of the most important entries, Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water. I know I have gushed about songwriting a lot throughout these classic album dives but man does this project really show how much of a powerhouse this duo were at what I would argue to be their musical peak. It really doesn't shock me this was at one time considered the greatest selling album of all time as there is a little bit here for everyone that was still stuck in the 60s. It can be very cheery with Keep the Customer Satisfied and soul crushing with The Boxer. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel's voices carry so much emotion with them and can be a spectrum across this project, which is something I found very fascinating and enjoyable for the most part. It is a very sweet yet way to short finale to one of the most iconic Folk duos of all time.

Some brilliant tracks which still sound as good as when they first came out. A couple of songs short of a full 5 for me.

i don't think i've actually listened to this album in its entirety, and i'm glad to have done so finally. what i've learned is that the s/t song is the weakest on the album, even though it becomes pretty awesome during the last 2ish minutes when the strings and rumbly bass come in. "cecilia" is still fun and "the boxer" is still the best "famous" song from the album. "baby driver" is a pretty good song though easy enough for me to forget it. "the only living boy in new york" is still my favorite s&g song. just remarkable from beginning to end, and "why don't you write me" is a damn good follow-up to it. "bye bye love" is needless. why is it here? "song for the asking" is a solid ender but still a little forgettable. perhaps album-enders are there because many stop listening by that point? i don't really know for sure

There’s a playfulness in this album that captures life’s simple pleasures alongside a few hard truths, all wrapped in that wistful vibe of Americana folk that can turn a spilt ice cream cone into a piece lovable art. They have a one of a kind sound and I still have a forever crush on The Only Living Boy in New York.

Sweet little album Comforting Nostalgic Very good

Light, airy, folky, and quite enjoyable

Very easy to listen to

VERY GOOD BERY GOOD!

Eery but really tickles something within. The version of El condor pasa is amazing.

Occasionally haunting vocals, which are warmly combatted by quick folky guitars and gentle harmonies

Simon & Garfunkel's magnum opus.

Might have been a fiver if I listened to this in a better mood. But cranky I was, and Bridge and Frank Lloyd Wright both quite taxing listens

Cecilia makes it all worth it. I know most of these songs, unsure from where. Enjoyable

If I had to pick one album that involved Paul Simon to be on this list it would be this one. It is pretty close to no-skips and has some straight-up classics on it like El Condor Pasa.

Variety, lovely voices and jaunty in a fun way

I really enjoyed this album. Cecelia and Bridge Over Troubled water have been favorites of mine since high school. Simon and Garfunkel are a warm cup of coffee on a cold day.

I’m not sure I’d quite say this is a guilty pleasure but it gets close. I love the energy many of these songs create through the stripped back percussion and instrumental elements and I’m a sucker for the big hits (this is probably the guilty pleasure part - Bridge over Troubled Water, Cecilia, The Boxer). That series of songs rarely fails to get me in a good mood so for that I’m unashamed to give it a 4.

Now this was the kind of music I was waiting to discover. It's produced so well, the lyrics are amazing, and they sing well. You don't find a lot of that with the generator. I am very grateful to have this album bestowed upon me. These guys are amazing so are their songs. Give it a listen.

sat with this one for a while started off trying to listen at work via phone speaker but the title track really calls for some nice headphones and it is really lovely isnt it just el condor pasa - thought this was the intro for tango in the night on first listen, a great little spanish guitar flourish leading into a calming yet driving heel stomp beat accompanied by flute? panpipes? I'd also rather be a forest than a street. cecilia - probably heard this a hundred times via cultural osmosis, the clap track keeps it interesting but lyrically weak and melodically does nothing for me keep the customer satisfied - ironically this didn't satisfy me at all! weakest track imo so long, frank lloyd wright - musically, really well put together, the vocal track taking a slight backseat here, obviously still taking over the mix but the instrumentation really shines though - strings, bongos (?), flute, a lovely guitar effect, really gorgeous stuff the boxer - the harmonies! the HARMONIES! the effect on the SNARE! (borrowing from a review of White Ceder - The Mountain Goats "the snare feels triumphant") there's some woodwind (? maybe brass) on this that feels really out of place for me initially but the strings & the build from 3.20 onwards is so beautiful it doesn't really matter. lie-la-lie indeed Simon & Garfunkel. baby driver - whatever the only living boy in new york - really picks up halfway through, the latter half overshadows the first why don't you write me - got a bit of shuffle to it, there's a cheeky little horn section, it's a good song but feels a little out of place on this album? bye bye love (live) - people can't be trusted to clap on the snare in time, clapping along to the beat should be discouraged at every turn, live tracks on an album are stupid and i hate them, thanks for coming to my TED talk song for the asking - a very nice closer, has a waltz quality to it, short considering overarching feeling is the highs are fantastic, but there's some clangers on here that drag it down for me personally, a respectable 3.75

Whimsical folk

One of those where it gets a good rating in spite of its stylings, and not because of them. I'm not a huge fan of Simon or Garfunkel as performers, but some of the songs on here are undeniable. I can't imagine what it was like to hear BOTW for the first time. Only Living Boy and Cecilia are interesting choices that work in terms of arrangement. Even a song I don't like - Frank Lloyd Wright, for example - I at least appreciate the attempt to do something different. I don't think I can honestly give it a 5 because I didn't enjoy it all. It's quite smug in places, but it works well enough in enough places to get a 4.

Sounds very folksy and I liked when all the instruments came together like one big happy family at the end of some songs. I never really listened to Simon and Garfunkel but this is how I imagined they would sound and its pretty good. 6.9/10

This was a Bridge Over Troubled Water.

FUUUUCK THE TITLE SONG IS SOOO ETHEREAL I didn't expect a folk album to be that good cause the other albums of the genre never caught my attention before. But this one is great, although there are couple of songs that I enjoyed way less than the others, they sound kinda boring to me. That's why 4/5

This was so beautiful. Need to re-listen on a cold, rainy day fr

8 Top 10 emotional Hamish teenager albums all time it’s a masterpiece

It was a very good experience and music. I feel as though I've heard the name but haven't listen to them. It's very emotional I think I could cry or smile listening to this. I definitely can see many of the songs being in the background of movies during the climax. I think my favorite song was Bridge Over Troubled Water
