no women, no cryyyyyyyyyyy

Freesiä, kun lähinnä kuunnellut Marleyn hittikompilaatioita. Hyvin jaksoi loppuun asti.

Marley is arguably the only reggae legend society has been graced with. While "Natty Dread" lacked the personal impact of "Exodus" lyrically, the vibe and near limitless creativity of Marley to expand reggae's sound despite its recognizable tone and style remains evident here.

Not really my style, but it’s a good one.

6/10 Best Song - Lively up yourself

Great 👍

Can't say I'm in love with the album, but it passes - mostly because it doesn't sound like everything else.

Genre: Roots Reggae 3/5 Bob Marley: a name so ubiquitous and well-known, it’s nearly become diluted. The things this man said, and the music this man made, touched millions. Positivity, unity, and peace were his only motives and messages, all bundled up with that reggae sound many had come to love. For me, the sonic monotony does run its course. Good vibes and good intentions are all great, but this album is pretty fucking boring overall. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, more of a comment, really. The title track and the mega-hit No Woman, No Cry are great tracks, but it doesn’t keep the rest of the album from sounding exactly the same for over 30 minutes. For fans, this is a must listen.

Chilled but wouldn't jump back to it

bara fínt

Yoo de här KAN int vara natty…. De e för swag!!

Groovy

Loved it at the time, not sure it stands up these days.

not the bob Marley album I would have put on this list

yeah cool

A good reggae album, but it kind of one more for the entire album.

I love Bob, but most of his music is same same to me. This album has No Woman, No Cry, which is a banger, but not the famous live version that is so so good.

I prefer the live version of No Woman No Cry which sort of took the place of this studio one as the main version, however, this is top notch feel good reggae from Bob and the Whales

So there IS a studio version of No Woman No Cry! I do like a bit of Bob. This particular album didn't do that much for me at first, though I got into the groove a little more with each listen. Might revisit one day.

Pretty chill, somewhere between a 3 and 4

Oh Bob, you bore me a bit.

Not terrible

Mellow reggae that's well produced. Loved the bass guitar sound. If I'm honest, it was a little sterile and boring to listen to.

Not a bad album, some classics I remember from when I listened to more Bob Marley back in the early 2000’s

For some reason, it makes me feel optimistic. Think it is the fact that I am hearing someone that is singing his heart out…

It was okay… A little slower than Exodus and not as many catchy songs songs. 5/10

Evokes great memories. Love me some Bob Marley.

Disappointingly not as good as I remembered/expected.

"Everything's gonna be alright"

Good album, "No Woman No Cry" a faster version...disliked...Natty Dread and Talkin Blues were good.

Yeah, s’alright.

I'm kind of a best of Bob Marley person. I get his cultural significance but I can't even get through Legend that often because it a) gets a bit samey and, b) often reminds me of some of the worst white boy weed smoking acoustic guitar types in my teens and twenties. Excited to check out the other stuff though, outside of what you expect to hear. Lively Up Yourself and No Woman No Cry are obviously a great lead out (though the version of the latter on Live at the Lyceum is better!) It continues fairly enjoyably, but does seem to stick to a 90bpm, fairly repetitive structure from song to song. Natty Dread switches it up a little bit and gets my interest back. Great horns on it. Then back to a lot of the same. I still think Bob Marley deserves his place in the firmament. His influence on Jamaican politics alone marks him out as a unique figure. I just feel like a lot of people get to him and stop with reggae, and miss Junior Murvin, Lee Perry, Horace Andy and Toots and the Maytals. He wasn't the best, he was important as hell though, but this album gets pretty bland, in spite of a handful of all time classics.

Not the biggest reggae fan, but I do enjoy getting lost in this for an album. Might not have the super hits of Exodus, but I feel like No Woman No Cry and Bend Down Low immediately stuck with more than anything off of that album Saved: No Woman No Cry, Them Belly Full (But We Hungry), Bend Down Low*, Talkin' Blues

Synkkään konttoripäivään sopimaton, mutta jossain palmun alla Changia siemaillen voisi innostaa. 2,5*

Jo vähän parempi genrensä levy, mut ei tälläkään kuuhun menty - 2,5 eli pyöristyksen voimalla

Really interesting to hear the first version of No Woman No Cry and see how much it's evolved over the years with so many covers. Rest of album is decent, but Bob Marley was just one of many great singers/songwriters in Jamaica at the time and has a far greater reputation than this material would warrant.

20th September 2021 Listened on the living room speaker while working. Quiet day. The whole album is a vibe, marley has a magical ability to transcend his music into a mood.

Not bad, not good. Of course, "No Woman No Cry" is amazing and I really liked "Them Belly Full" but the rest was just ok.

Some really well known songs. I will probably not listen to this album again though

Recognized a few songs. Reggae isn't something I go out of my way for, but it's fun to listen tom

This was a nice and chill album, more so because Marley's voice is really melodic. I grew a bit tired of the similar rhythms by the end but still a nice listen.

oh hell yeah reggae at it's finest and perhaps bravest, I am seducing the bongo with the many million gods, and I am not alone anymore

It was ok. Not my type of music.

Not a huge fan

No woman no cry, but vooral no bob everybody cries. Goeie viiiiibe, Ik mis sfiiiiinks

No woman no cry bop. Liedje met lengte 4:20, toeval? Denk het niet

Interesting album. Felt like a good walking album. Had an interesting feeling like he took parts of the songs and hit them with a hammer and then put them back together again. Like a thin disjointed sound that fit together.

Passable in comparison to exodus. Reliably good songs, just seems boring overall.

Not my vibe but chill

Easy listening. Always a fan of Marley

Good for listening to in the sun. I remember the wailers (sans Bob marley) playing at my local music festival - guilfest - and for their entire set there was just a sea of people bopping in time, even people just walking about not paying attention

Reggae is like ice cream. It's quite enjoyable in the moment, but I don't want it every day.

I hadn't listened to Bob Marley since High School, and it is nice relaxing music when puttering around the house in headphones. Would probably not listen to this on regular, but it is nice.

Decent reggae standard. I like reggae okay and seems to be a decent representation. Overall, not my preferred genre.

Jazzy/funky album. Good vibes.

Not normally my jam but decent enough.

I kind of feel bad about giving this a 3 but it just didn't git right for me today. Was curious about his political messages so I looked up the wiki. Had no idea No Woman No Cry was about childhood friendship...? Quoting the wiki here but probably a reflection on how little of a close listen this was.

Noticed some lyrics that Zach de la Rocha from Rage Against the Machine sampled. Album feels ahead of its time. Chilled, 3 stars.

there are better albums out there for a reggae bath. sadly this was a bit diappointing. i was hoping for something as full of bangers as kaya or exodus but it was a bit lacking.

good stuff, more of a collection of songs than a full album, not all of which grab me

The Man, The legend.

Every song just makes you bop your little head all very chilled out.

Good sunny day listening. Relaxed.

Hey liedje "Jelmen... Jelmen... I hope you like Jelmen too" stond niet op deze CD, jammer

Understand why it's liked. Enjoyed I guess but would not listen to again.

Liked it

Nice Bob Marley album. Very typical of his style with a couple of hits that I like - that said, the vocals on “No Woman No Cry” seemed off - a little high-pitched, but I was listening through some lame earbuds… Strong 3, but just not feeling a 4.

I prefer Legend. His greatest hits album, which is probably all the Bob Marley you need.

Pretty good to hear something other than the greatest hits. Don't like this version on No Woman No Cry

I like this, but it's pretty redundent.

1974, reggae, bob marley, starke 3

Fun record, easy to listen to.

Pretty much the same thoughts as CCR. Love Bob Marley but it's definitely a style and the best songs have risen to the top over the years. Never heard the studio version of No Woman No Cry. That's interesting.

Pretty good, but a little dry compared to other Bob Marley.

good album, not rly my type of music though

Songs: Them Belly Full (But We Hungry), Bend Down Low, Talkin' Blues

Not always my thing but pretty good songs to chill to.

One of bob marleys best

Not for me, but it was fine

3 stars

Bob !!

Good. A couple epic tracks.

not really my thing but still has very smooth vibes, great instrumentals, soothing, calm, jazz like tunes. would be a decent vinyl to have on in the background

It was alright. Nothing too memorable.

Nice relaxing listen to end the new year

Pretty much what I expected from Bob Marley, which is to say, pretty chill music thats fun to listen to.

mildly entertaining background music that doesn't really do anything at all for me except sound nice i guess. no woman no cry is pretty great tho i guess

Sorry, this can't make me love "reggy"

Not my style. Interesting but repetitive.

What you would think Bob Marley album would sound like

my first reggae album. I feel you hear the love and soul throughout each song although I don’t think I would be revisiting very often at all. Saved 0/11.

This was an okay album - very chill vibe. I tolerate Reggae by find it to be too repetitive in terms of sound I give this a 2.

Estuvo tranquilo, me quedé dormida tenía sueño.

it was pretty bad imo, it sounded hollow

Not my thing

tbh, it isn't really my style

Not his best work, some of the songs sounding shrill and out of tune.

Feels like Ambient 1: Music for Airports but without stimulating thought

Instrumentals sound a little too whimsical and the vocals sound too relaxed for me to take this seriously.

No woman no cry has to be a contender for the song most outdone by its live version. The rest of the album is likewise pretty flaccid. Feels like corporate reggae or something. 2.5

Not my Cup of tea. Every Song sounds the same. Overall Mood Is nice though. FAVOURITE TRACK: Revolution LEAST FAVOURITE TRACK: Am-A-Do

I just don't get reggae.

As much as how I love reggae, this album was not my favorite. I give it a two mainly because the songs are really weird for me. They are catchy, but they’re not that catchy to listen to and as my first album to walk to and listen to it, I hit about 6K steps look I love Bob Marley, but this album is not a classic to me. I would love to listen more and judge again. Edit I also wanted to add the fact that this album reminds me of Outer Banks season one so at least I vibed a little

Not a fan it’s what I thought it would be

decent album. couple good songs.

i kinda had high expectations for bob marley and this album did not deliver at all. and i'm not sure if it's the reggae or just this album

Yes - it's boring. BM and the Wailers create a vibe and stick with it and stick with it and stick with it and then the song is over. I didn't find this as annoying as the last reggae album. I got from this list, but - it's still pretty bad. I will say that there is quite a bit of variance, by reggae standards, on this record. Some songs include elements from other styles, like rock and Spanish jazz. "So Jah Seh" is my favorite track here; it seems to have more energy than some of the others. Overall, the best I can say for it is that it's the best reggae album I've had to listen to so far! TWO STARS

The first one after Peter and Bunny bail out. He's thinking in terms of melody within the strictures of this genre. And it works to an extent, Lively Up Yourself is terrific, and pretty much represents the best of this approach. The rest of it starts to drag, I think the 60's ska dudes go it right when they upped the tempo and vibe.

1.5/5 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/bob-marley-and-the-wailers/natty-dread/ Okay this might not be a truly fair rating, but whatever; I fucking hate reggae. And still, STILL, even I must admit that sometimes, when I’m paying the least attention and when I am at my weakest, I’m grooving to the stupid ass reggae beat too.

Meh. Surprisingly boring. Even though it's clear to me that that dude is legendary...

I honestly wish I appreciated Reggae more, just doesn't do much for me. I can tell this is good for the genre, and the type of music it is but I just do not care for it.

Not really my type of music but did feel like I was on a beach which is a good thing

I'm too much of a square for this

Early Bob Marley and the Wailers album

2/5 them belly full

Not my jam

First time listening to a full Bob album

Sorry Bob, it's just not for me. 2

excellent. true talent

It was ok but became background music, I only realised it had finished when Police and Thieves came on and that I did enjoy

When I was 18, I spent some time with this older dude who was recording my songs. He told me he’d always put on reggae when he had a girl over because she was more likely to have sex with him. I hate blanket statements like this. But I can’t stand reggae music. It’s the only genre I feel so absolute about. (We should all get exactly one.) I know Bob Marley was capital-I Important and meant so much to so many. Joy as an act of resistance, etc. For me, it’s vibe music, and if you don’t like the vibe, it has nothing else to offer. Instrumentally, lyrically, anything. Unless, like in Nick’s case, you’re just trying to get laid.

I never got the hype.

Classic Bob, but I like most of these songs better live

I like reggae sometimes, the foundations of jungle and drum and bass can be found there, but I didn't vibe with this album

Not for me, but I can understand the appeal.

Not an album I'll reach for again. I love the funky bass work of Revolution and the drums are sick, but my personal hurdle is reggae as a genre: unfortunately I was leaning towards bored. I didn't love the backup singers; lyrics are ever-relevant and blistering.

Jamaica Strandbeschallung. "No Woman No Cry" ist ein absoluter Klassiker. Gibt aber bessere Versionen von dem Song.

Not good

Только за No woman no cry - 2 звезды

Not my cup of tea.

It was OK.

Disappointing, with a dreadful rendition of No woman no cry. I will stick with the Greatest Hit album when listening to Bob Marley ✌️

Never been a huge reggae guy. This is fine but tends to all blend together at a point, like reggae tends to do for me. Nice vibes though and I like the politically charged tunes.

Mickey Mouse Marley, musically sub par

Bob Marley has never floated my boat and this is not helping 😐

I do not like reggae

Well I’ll start by saying that I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would going into it. Of course I’ve suffered the obligatory but brief fascination with Bob Marley’s Legend album that seems to possess many a young white man when they discover weed. Otherwise I find the reggae to be pretty generally bereft of ideas and rather childish. This album shows a surprising amount of range within the genre and the songs seem fresh and fun. It’s an album to be enjoyed under an umbrella on a beach with an adult beverage. Unfortunately though I’m not much for the beach…or reggae for that matter.

I don't really like reggae, even the whitewashed stuff, so rip

Some tracks will have a niche place in my playlist, but overall this isn't really my style. I do recognise the tones of voice and instrumentals proper to reggae, but getting familiar with it isn't enough to make me like it constantly for now...

Reggae is one of those genres where every single song sounds the same unless you're a turbo-autist fan. I could chill to this while smoking a blunt in a Jamaican beach bar, but not in my shitty bedroom.

Stand-out tracks: So Jah S'eh - one of the few tracks I wasn't tired of by the end Most of the album is quite annoying to me to be quite honest. I think reggae just isn't a genre of music I would listen to because those repeating back vocals get really tiring to me (like how many times can you repeat Natty Dread in the span of 3 mins...). The instrumentals can be sometimes nice, but it all just gets so tiring, especially when the track is over 4 mins long and then literally repeats itself. Feels like I would listen to this only if I turned my brain off and just vibe with it I guess, although this really isn't my vibe.

It’s alright, I’m not really a reggae kind of person, although I highly respect Bob Marley. The one that stood out the most to be (the only one I actually liked) was Rebel O Clock.

Not as fun as his other albums but still a good vibe.

Was excited to listen to this but didn't like it. And I like Bob Marley from what I've heard. Legend, of course, is an all-time classic greatest hits album....Exodus is a great album, too. This just wasn't that enjoyable, not even as background music while I was doing some work. There's a reason the live version of No Woman No Cry is the definitive version...the studio cut here just isn't nearly as good. Best thing I can say is that for some reason Apple Music suggested Jimi Hendrix after for some reason and started playing Purple Haze.

Not the vibe I need on a friday. Also reggae is not really my thing but gotta give it to the man’s legacy

Not as good as the other album I reviewed of his. This one sort of sounds weirdly bad. There’s a really dated organ and it’s just more reggae.

cool. groovy

The ballads of weed. 2/5

Pretty boring and repetitive. No woman no cry, lively up yourself and talkin' blues are okay. Would make good background music in the summer but I won't listen again otherwise.

I'm not reggae fan and, looking at the other reviews, I'm not alone. Looks like there is a lot of us in that camp, eh? We say things like "I know it's the great Bob Marley, but..." and "it's a little bit boring and repetitive". That's me. I say that. Maybe reggae is for people who have chill. I have no chill.

Unfortunately was a bit bored with this one, but otherwise nice to experience some less popular Bob Marley tracks.

it's not bad, but the songs are very similar, not a big fan of that, plus while listening because of the almost same melody i got bored fast. not a very exciting to listen to album honestly

Good messages and beats but it's not something I would listen. I don't really like reggae but the lyrics are good, maybe a little too repetitive

It was meh. Generally liked the lyrics but not my favorite music scene.

No Woman, No Cry is the standout track here.

2 stars I like reggae. But I’ll acknowledge that a lot of it blends together. I don’t know that I’ve listened to a full reggae album- just compilations like Bob Marley Legend and The Harder They Come soundtrack. Natty Dread did not change my opinion. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t stand out. The one song I knew before, “No Woman No Cry,” is more well known for its live version on Legend. And the live version is better, even if this one isn’t bad. Overall this is decent background music but it wouldn’t say it did anything for me that made me want to listen again other than have a feeling like surprise it was over and I didn’t remember it.

Not my type of music, but has a nice vibe

Not really my style, but i really enjoyed the beats and melodies. My favorite song after my first listen is talking blues. Bob Marley has such a great voice. The last three songs are by far my favorite from this album.

eh not for me kinda lame but in the right place and time these songs can be bangers i would think

It was just okay. Classic Bob Marley style

Not my thing. All his songs sound the same.

Everything sounds the same? It’s nice as background music, but i wouldn’t voluntarily put it on.

Not my type of music at all.

Enjoyable.

Still can't shake the feeling that reggae isn't for me. I listen to John Peel radio broadcasts every once in a while and I appreciate the dub and reggae tracks that play, I like them in conversation with the other genres that I like more. On an album, it all just kind of runs together. Sounds good, is interesting, not really my bag.

I wanted to love this. I don’t. Kind of boring. I don’t like the music or words. Maybe in context this would have some meaning to me. I like lively up yourself

Nicht so meins, sogar No Woman, No Cry klang schlechter, als ich es in Erinnerung hatte.

I just……………………. I just love so many genres of music, I’ll listen to nearly anything, but I just………………. I just don’t like reggae.

A little boring. 5/10

While Bob Marley is talented, he created one of the worst fanbases of all time

2.3 I really don't like Reggae, and every time one comes up on here I'm reminded of why. Nothing about it appeals to me. The worst side of stonerism imo.

Saaier dan Catch A Fire. Heel eentoning

Maybe I actually like Peter Tosh and not Bob Marley

Not one my favourites. Generally I prefer other recordings of these songs.

Not super big on reggae. Liked the vibe sometimes but don’t think I’d listen again

I get it. I got in 9 songs ago and I still get it.

Reggae isn’t my fav genre and this isn’t one of my fav from Marley in particular.

Favourite Track: Lively up Yourself

Bob Marley is really hit and miss for me and this missed.

honestly wanted to like this a lot more! but didn't get too into it. i acknowledge that it was good, but nothing notable within the album itself. this might be an unpopular score!

I’ll never get the appeal.

Interesting in parts. Have always found marley to be mood music. Hard to get too enthused about this. Its just ok, it meanders along at its own sedate pace. Meh.

Not bad

"Lively Up Yourself" is such a calming track and I think sets the tone for the album very well. "No Woman, No Cry" is also very calming. The moving bass line is very interesting, and I believe there is a Wurlitzer? Overall, I feel this a great album for having on in the background or to relax too.

Bob Marley's sound is cool and there probably is a lot I am missing but the sounds of reggae are just not for me. I'm here for the messaging mostly but it also makes me sleepy and forget to listen to the lyrics.

Bob is unfortunately not beating the “Legend is the only record you need” allegations. There’s not a single song of distinction here, though it does sound great. It feels like this is still on the cusp of Bob finding his real stride as a songwriter so it’s odd that it’s even on the list. There is an element of “not for me” in reggae that will never make it a favorite, but this album in particular doesn’t have enough oomph to even clear that bar.

Legend is just so good...and this was just...okay. But it's Bob Marley and was a pleasant surprise for a Monday listen.

In This Great Future, You Can't Forget Your Past 1001 Albums Generator 123 (09/22/2025) Having never heard the song, I always assumed the punctuation of No Woman No Cry would be "No Woman, No Cry". I thought it would be a song about how women make Mr. Bob Marley cry, and without them, he is able to be happy. Instead, it would appear that the correct punctuation is something like "No, woman! No cry!", telling a woman in his life that it will be okay and that everything will turn out fine. The importance of punctuation strikes again, folks! Anyway, Natty Dread is a totally fine reggae album, but unfortunately, I do not really like reggae. I wish I did, because it can really be quite fun at times and, as opposed to Marcus Garvey, Natty Dread really leans into this positivity. Additionally, some of the rhythm here is much more interesting than the stereotypical upbeat guitar strums that are often associated with reggae. The opener, Lively Up Yourself, actually has a really difficult downbeat to my ears. Also, Rebel Music has a sort of psychedelic sound to it that I really enjoy. However, Natty Dread has the same problems as every reggae album that I have heard, which is that I just find it boring. Call it personal preference, but I just don't get it man. Maybe I haven't smoked enough weed to. Also, listening to this album, I can't help but remember when I was in Aswan, Egypt, and they had a random restaurant on the Nile that was named Bob Marley and was Jamaican themed. Weird times. 2.5/5 rounded down to a 2. Favs: Lively Up Yourself Rebel Music (3 O'Clock Roadblock) Revolution Least Fav: Talkin' Blues

Whole album sounds like one song.

Not really my thing. Not a big Marley fan. It's fine just find it a bit boring

I get the vibe, I see the vibe, i get why people would like the vibe, but it aint my vibe.

shed off all the good talent, but whatevz. i don't love Bob, but its fine. this version of No Woman is terrible IMO. the whole thing has as real clean feel to it, in a bad way. 7 albums deep is impressive, tho. not having peter and bunny in the line up is obvious. if it were anyone else besides the Wailers, this would be fine. the polish does make it feel more personal with Marley taking the spotlight. 2 outta 5 just for that

good background music while we have dinner

It’s a reggae loop album and the only song that remains to me is the worldwide famous “ no woman no cry »

2/5 Best Track - "Natty Dread"

Surprised this made the cut to be honest. I can’t imagine this was him in full stride. Surely there are better Bob Marley albums.

Whenever I hear reggae I find myself wondering how inebriated does one have to be to enjoy this? That said, this album is better than most in the genre.

The No Woman, No Cry version in this album is alright but it's not the one you recognize the song for. The rest of the album is just fine, but not my thing.

I respect the hell out of Bob Marley and really like some of his songs, but this album as a whole didn't do a lot for me. Maybe it's just that I only really enjoy reggae in smaller doses? Everything sounds so similar after a while. The vibes are nice though and it's a cool listen. It's weird how "small" Marley's vocals sound on some tracks, almost tinny and far away. Would have liked more substance to the recording. Standouts were "Lively Up Yourself" "Bend Down Low" and "Talkin' Blues" Overall, this one is a 2/5 for me, it was pretty decent but dragged on a bit for my taste and I wasn't really into it as I'd hoped to be.

No woman no cry

Not my most favorite Marley songs. It was just fine

You know what? I hate Reggae. It's pretty irrational but it gets on my nerves. Its way too slow and it grinds my gears.

Well, it's better than UB40...

Favorite: No Woman No Cry Never have been a huge reggae fan unfortunately. I did really like the guitar on No Woman No Cry. It felt a little yacht rocky and gave me Steely Dan vibes. Can definitely see the vision for this album, just isn't my thing. [2.5 Stars]

Ok. I dig some reggae. I'm a fan of the vibe that a great reggae tune sets off. But to spend extended time with it, I tend to not get a lot out of what I hear. On this record, the first 2 songs are great. They Belly Full is ok but Rebel Music comes out to be my favorite song. The rest of it was mostly forgettable for me and I feel bad because Marley is a legend in this field. However, I ultimately have to give my honest opinion on the music at hand: it's fine. Some of it is cool, others are less notable (6/10, 3/5 on this scale) (Update: It hurts, but I'm bringing this down to a 2. This album just wasn't for me. I guess I was trying to respect the legend that is Bob Marley, but I have to be more honest with my ratings. After all, it's about the album and not the person)

Well intentioned, groovy music that I found pretty repetitive. Is Bob Marley a singles artist? Is Babylon the only historical touchpoint that reggae artists recognize? Should I turn this off and play Madden? Just some of the questions running through my mind as I listened to this.

At a certain point, a lot of this just becomes ‘reggae music’ to me. It might be the length? I might just not have the patience to sit through more than 30 minutes of reggae at a time. I really enjoyed the tight runtime of Exodus when it arrived on this list, but I found the connection lacking here. Even the beloved No Woman No Cry - it’s good, but it’s also in the conversation for being the clearest case where a live recording of a song is vastly superior to the original. ⭐️⭐️

I dunno what the fuss is about Marley. Or any other reggae, for that matter. Maybe if you're stoned, it'd be good, but it certainly does nothing for me.

Supposed to be an important album. I'd like to like it more. But I don't. Sorry Bob.

Didn’t really like it but my good friend loves him so she must be on to something.

I think it’s good, it’s just not for me. It’s so mellow and that’s just not who I am. I kinda prefer this version of No Woman No Cry

Not really for me

It's fine I guess. I really only need to hear reggae music when I'm on a beach or a small island nation. Even then I only need to hear 1 song every 90 mins: limit 5. And even still, I don't want to hear any of these songs. Gimme most of Legend or anything from Peter Tosh - Legalize It. I guess I take it back. It's not fine. I'm not into this album at all

It's ok, just not into Reggae much.

Not bad. It's fun for sure and it's something different, but how much of this do I need? No Woman No Cry obviously. I really liked the ending of Them Belly Full (But We Hungry), but yeah. 2.5/5 stars.

This was fine. Not a huge reggae guy and this album does not have any of Marley's most famous songs.

This isn't for me. Reggae just isn't my thing.

Just not my vibe.

It's fine. Reggae. Not my scene. Third Marley album I've encountered here and it really is a case of... They all sound EXACTLY the same to me. Fine. But... Absolutely identical.

I feel bad not rating this higher when everybody pretends to like Bob Marley but it was just ok. I don’t think I like reggae all that much. I loved the drums. Would probably enjoy it more if I was able to pay attention to the lyrics but this project has taught me I’m not very good at that.

let's just say reggae is not my genre

Not really for me

it was cool, but i wouldn’t say it was my favorite. it was nice being able to discover bob marley more.

nothing im really gonna revisit on this tbh. Marley is a legend but whatever

I'm not the biggest reggae fan but it was nice!

it's fine.

Not for me

I don't click with Bob.

I feel like I'm saying this for many of these albums, but this album just isn't for me. I don't judge anyone for loving Bob Marley and Reggae, but it's just not my thing.

I just can't get into Reggae music. Caribbean Polka music is all it is.

Was good, couldn't really get into it

It probably doesn’t help that I had another Bob Marley album this week, but reggae just isn’t for me.

Ugh. This better be the last of these. I think this might be the best? It feels a lot more of the moment and less trying to be something more than it is. I also didn't realize that Eric Clapton probably wouldn't have a solo career of it wasn't for the fact that he just t stole this sound which makes me hate him even more. Otherwise not interested.

Like at Them Belly Full, Rebel Music, Talkin' Blues og Revelution har samme intro. Halve albumet jo

One friend said yesterday that he wants to like reggae but no success. I fit to same category. All cool but infact too cool and slow.

Although it’s time to celebrate — this is the 100th album I’ve listened to from the list — reggae has always been a tough one for me. I’d really like to enjoy it, but for some reason, it tends to fade into the background for me, and I just don’t have the stamina to get through a full album with full focus. That was the case again today with this one. It’s not bad at all, but maybe reggae just isn’t for me… 901 to go.

Not a huge fan of reggae, but Marley is fine for the most part. I just get bored of listening to it very easy. And live I've said in the past, lyrics are not that important part of music for me. I find most reggae lacking in layers musically and exceeding my personal levels for positivity multifold. There are exceptions.

I did not use a private session for this one, though I really should have. I don't like reggae and Spotify probably thinks I do now. It's repetitive, all the songs seem the same to me. It's fine for background music when you are on a vacation, but other than that, it's just lost on me.

This was alright. It felt a bit one-note, and I didn't love the No Woman, No Cry version -- was way too fast and sounded so cheesy with the cheap synth beat. Took me almost two full days to get through it. Two stars.

point9.

riascoltarlo non mi aiuta

I think I just don't like reggae

I dont like raggae

Rastafari! 5,5/10 Highlights -

Album number five. Aiming to streamline my reviews rather than rambling on as I have done thus far. Reggae is something of a music of contradictions for me - musically tight but with an irresistibly loose, laidback feel, and while politically, spiritually and socially preoccupied lyrically, the songs are often uplifting and danceable by contrast. Bob Marley, whether you rate him or not as a musical force, can, if nothing else, be recognised as a true figurehead for reggae and Jamaican culture, bringing them to a worldwide audience. Here, the music perhaps falls a little flat by lacking the contribution from his original Wailers, but is still as groovy and politically charged as you would expect. Admittedly not an album I would choose to listen to from start to finish often (I have listened to all Marley's albums sporadically in the past), Natty Dread comes into it's own as the soundtrack to any summer evening spent having fun in the sun. That's not to relegate Marley to mere background music, but he has produced better, more melodically interesting long-players than this - reggae fatigue sets in for this listener four or so tracks in. Only a two from me, but it's a high two.

Bin leider kein großer Reggae-Fan.

It was very boring and repetitive. Except for No Woman No Cry which we love.

I liked this less than I had thought I would.

Reggae definitely has its place in the world but maybe just not in mine. Not to say I would have any strong feelings against this playing in any place I found myself in but I also think that's the most I can say about it; that it's decent background music. Bob Marley Is obviously a very important artist and for that reason, I'm glad he exists for those who are a fan. This album features some important political insights about the state of Jamiaca at the time but unfortunately my own ignorance on the topic stopped me from appreciating it fully. A lot of the songs sounded similar and the album became monotonous after a while. Not to mention, it was difficult to separate the stereotype from the sound. I kept imagining Jeremy’s bedroom from Peep Show. I don't think I would intentionally listen to it again but I wouldn't be opposed if someone else put it on, I guess.

Was alright, didn't feel like I was paying attention when listening during work

Lively Up Yourself - pretty good, pretty samey No Woman No Cry - sweeter and better than I remember Them Belly Full (But We Hungry) - not bad Rebel Music - like the country aspect of this, and spooky Nick Cave feel So Jah S'eh - love the jazzy feel Natty Dread - pretty good Bend Down Low - pretty good Talkin' Blues - prettyyyyy dull Revolution - I like the edge to this one Am-A-Do - Not bad Overally I wouldn't return for anything except No Woman No Cry but I did enjoy the album more than I thought I would.

With true respect to Bob Marley, this is good background music

I...have never seen the appeal of reggae. It has always seemed like a slow, repetitive genre that doesn't offer much to dance to, much message to hang on to, and much intrigue when it comes to arrangements or instrumentation. Obviously, Bob Marley is known for being a powerful lyricist, one that delivers messages of social change through his words of peace and love. I was ready for this album to prove me wrong, to be the one that finally made me get reggae. Who better than the man everyone praises as the best to ever do it? Well... All it did was confirm my feelings about it. Sure, Marley does have good messaging in his songs, albeit pretty simple and surface level messaging. It wasn't enough to get me excited. Nothing about this album was. I will get hate for this, but I just do not and have never seen the appeal of reggae. Somebody please explain it to me. Do I need to be high? It seemed like all the stoners I knew in college loved Marley. Is that what I'm missing? I could see that being what I'm missing. I'm not even joking. Anyway, sorry to do this to the man himself but, two stars. Standout Tracks: Lively Up Yourself, No Woman No Cry, Them Belly Full (But We Hungry), Talkin' Blues

Reggae isn't for me

Not a big reggae fan

I’ve always found reggae quite samey and quite dull.

Of all the Bob Marley albums on this list, this is the weakest one. Aside from "No Woman No Cry" none of the songs really stand out. Nothing about it is particularly exciting in any way, musically or lyrically. I've been generally pleasantly surprised by the other Bob Marley albums on this list, as I tend to not be a huge fan of reggae, but this reminds me of all the things I dislike about the genre. "No Woman No Cry" is an elite song, but that's really the only bright spot on this album.

Didn’t like this a bit. Hard to listen to it all when it kept putting me to sleep.

I thought I'd love this, but I didn't really

Not for me

Liked Song No Woman No Cry

Fundamentally I don't like Reggae, I think it's boring, I think it's musically it's pretty uninspired, and I think it's really repetitive. I can appreciate that Bob is the best to ever do it, I can appreciate that there was some extra musicality to it, but even all of that can't get me to like it. Even the extra instruments get repetitive. I get the feeling that people really only like this for the aesthetic. It's the college freshmen who put this poster on their wall because they want to let everyone know how "cool" they are and that they're not a narc. I just get the feeling that people aren't honest with themselves when it comes to Bob.

I was never a big Bob Marley fan. I get the appeal, but it just come across as very sappy and also all Reggae songs kinda sound the same to me. Key tracks: No Woman, No Cry

My mother told me if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Just kinda slow and same.

Not for me.

While I enjoy an occasional reggae song…..I would never choose to listen to it. I knew one song from this album which I enjoyed - No Woman No Cry. The rest all sounded very similar. While I appreciate what Bob Marley did for this genre and what a disruptor he was, reggae is not my jam.
