Smokers Delight

I feel unkind classing it as aural wallpaper, but that’s just what it is; background to another activity IMO. Not a smoker so it didn’t delight, but it was pleasant to let it wash over me…

Literal background music, 2 star if actively listening and 4 star on background.

Groovy, trippy. Great chill vibe with old school flourishes. Mostly pretty enjoyable, but some of the songs are overly repetitive. The album would have benefited by removing a few songs. Fave Songs: Wait a Minute/Praying for a Jeepbeat, What I'm Feelin (Good), Nights Introlude, Pipes Honour, Stars, Dreddoverboard

Some slightly lesser-known downtempo stuff. Obviously there was a huge wave of artists in this genre during the 90's, with artists like Boards of Canada, Portishead, and Massive Attack making some of the most memorable stuff. Nightmares On Wax makes fairly unobtrusive downtempo that lingers in the background, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Much of Smokers Delight is riding out a chill beat while occasionally mixing new elements in and out of the song. This album succeeds more in creating an overall vibe rather than asking you to pay attention to every element of it's songs.

Eclectic instrumental

The name, the cover, filled me with dread. This album is, however, a delight. I'm iffy on its inclusion on this list, but didn't mind listening all the way through, though admittedly on background while I worked.

This album attaches itself to the mid-1990s like a limpet to a rock. That isn't a bad thing, by any stretch, because to go into a bar playing Nightmares on Wax during the 90s was about the coolest thing one could do. Sure, it isn't as good an album as Carboot Soul, but it is still really very good. If you imagine yourself chatting to a girl in a hip (probably underground) bar in Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol or London - you'd be talking to her about Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst, or maybe about how tiresome Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Tamara Beckwith were - and this is the soundtrack to that chat-up. You'd buy her a hilariously expensive cocktail and have a g&t for yourself, and you'd feel like you owned the world. Nightmares on Wax are the soundtrack for swish bars, funky hotels and relaxed ambiance. If your chat-up worked, though, when you got her back to yours and picked a CD to put into your B&O BeoSystem, it'd be Kruder & Dorfmeister that you put on while you went down on her. Sorry Nightmares, but you're cool music, not sexytime music.

This is a super chill record but it all blends together. Maybe that's the point. It's not bad but it doesn't really hold your attention at all. It's not something you would sit down and listen to intently, more soemthing you would put on in the background. Like this is what would be playing in the waiting room at a wellness spa in Santa Fe that has lots of incense and natural soaps for sale.

Nice sounds

It’s rare that I listen to a 90’s electronic album from this list and it doesn’t sound dated. Maybe it’s because digital recording was still in its infancy then and more limited than it is today, and as a result, listeners’ expectations were tempered to not expect much variety, but that doesn’t account for a record like DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing, which doesn’t feel dated or overly repetitive and mechanical like this one does. With that said, this is not an awful album, but I think it could use some judicious editing. If you were to Guided by Voices this thing - no songs over three minutes, blend the tracks together like a seamless mix tape - it could be a pretty awesome record.

A surprisingly nice, chill album to listen to on New Year's morning with an upset toddler at 5 am, but ultimately left me questioning its place on this list. It's an hour + of lofi instrumentals that just didn't leave much of an impact on me. There's not much here I can see revisiting, and no real ear worms I might get from a contemporary like Fatboy Slim.

This expansive exploration into the world of chilled-out trip-hop is a delight indeed.

Not bad. I should listen to them in more detail.

Cool vibe…dig it

Smooth if a little boring

Too repetitive and long, couldn't get myself to finish.

Before seeing this cover here, it was somehow familiar. I thought it was a reggae album. As you already know, I was wrong. If something, I could see this work in the Trip Hop vicinity -close to early Massive Attack or DJ Shadow. It is the perfect album to set a smooth mood. To summon deep thoughts. To kiss someone for the very first time. To kiss your partner for the 1,000th time. It is a great album. The only downside is its length. Some ideas seem overextended. If the dub community was the reason behind the total length of 74 minutes, I can tell you, there is a repeat button you can use for that.

Quite a run of albums without lyrics in English. I suppose this would be OK as background music, don’t get why it’s on the list.

3.0 Through 1 listen I couldn't recommend a single song, like, "hey check this out" but I could have this album on in the background and enjoy it. I thought for sure by the name of the title and band it was going to be a weed rap album akin to Cypress Hill

Very chill album that straddles the gap between trip hop, electronica, and lofi. I LOVED the follow up album ("Carboot Soul") but never really gave. this one a listen, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to tonight, it was a good soundtrack to my mundane tasks, enough to make me stop and bob my head now and then. Good listening on headphones while you're laying back in the cut.

So I surprisingly have seen this album cover before, but I never listened to it or even remembered the artist. So going in blind... I definitely see the appeal of this album, but it is NOT a go to for me. I think my ears almost fell off my head from all the bass. Definitely guilty of skipping a few songs and jumping around the album. But the style and influence is there, just not for me.

Nothing terribly striking and a bit repetitive, but I like it. Varied and interesting enough. I would probably listen to this if I was a passenger on a long car drive and I wanted to doze off. It's really intended as background music for a Summer afternoon on the back porch while grilling and getting high or buzzed.

super sweet

These songs sound like a mix of the start up menu for an old gran turismo video game and songs played at an Amsterdam "coffee shop"and for that, it gets good reviews from me. Funky, jazz and reggae infused sounds are heard throughout and I found myself bobbing my head during my drive to work. Not sure how "influential" this album is in the grand scheme of things but its a good one to chill to. 3/5

Very nice chill music. I was only vaguely aware of this band, and this hear through was a pleasant surprise.

Chill, man. Probably sounded fresher when new - this sound has been done and done since. Not interesting enough for a four, but not bad at all.

Truly truly truly chill. Trip-hop should thrill in anger at the comparisons, this is relatively flat; Trip-hop defenders at least. Pair with James Joyce typographically, there's even "Pipes Honour" in there to fit the pattern. Never bad exactly, just overlong.

Mellow album. I've listened to this one before and I like it. It's really mellow. If you're at work dealing with a bunch of jagoffs, this is a good album to put on.

Really fun trip-hop album that feels like you're chilling at a jazz club. I was surprised by how long it was that it only dragged in a couple spots. Looking forward to keeping this in rotation.

On its face I find it boring. My way in was when I started appreciating that this music is not about melody and hooks, but about subtle changes - things being added or subtracted slowly over time - that create a mesmerizing, potentially trance inducing soundscape. From that angle I can appreciate it, and I wouldn't mind if it was on somewhere but I am probably not going to put it on myself.

I wouldn't say this is musical wallpaper, or even background music. Some of the samples are a bit too foregrounded for that. It definitely isn't in your face though. Fills a nice musical niche: headphone music to get lost in. Dreamy, headbobbin' stuff.

Kind of a nice vibe, a bit in the background for me but that's how I ended up listening. Not bad, I wouldn't be upset if someone threw it on.

Initial thoughts on seeing album name and band was this is going to be interesting. On hearing first minute, this is going to be very interesting. 25 mins in, ok, its getting a bit tedious now. 45 mins in, actually I'm quite enjoying having this on in the background. On the whole I liked it mid-range 4 kind of liked it. Its an album produced for a reason, and if you can't work out the reason from the title it probably isn't for you. Bit long 1 hour 41 mins long in the extended version on you tube, but hayho, I enjoyed it.

Awful and talentless. I just don’t understand who would buy this and for what occasion? I don’t see any talent in coming up with a 5 second long drum pattern and overlaying it with no more than 3 notes, then looping it endlessly until you lose the will to live. I always read the Wiki reviews on each album to get a deeper understanding of the artist & the album. Having read about this one, I’ve learnt nothing. I just wonder why this obscure artist and album made the 1,001 list. It wasn’t for commercial success (and neither should it just be about that), and it wasn’t for outstanding critical reviews. It doesn’t seem to have inspired other artists and doesn’t seem groundbreaking in any way. I guess the author of the list just likes it. Each to their own.

Harmless chill out music after several joints I'd imagine. But I gave up smoking normal ciggies 2 years ago this month, and gave up joints in the early 90's as always threw up after as they never agreed with me, so never quite reached that the chill out point of cannabis related tranquility, to appreciate a lot of this sort of stuff. But nice background music while I went through old paperwork for chucking out. In other words this album just drifted along and over my head without really entering it, but I'll give it a low 2 for the relaxation. (Glad I didn't listen to the deluxe version or I might have died of a sofa chill out related deep vein thrombosis).

Spotify laat zien hoe vaak iets is afgespeeld. Het eerste nummer een indrukwekkende 11 miljoen keer. De nummers daarna zijn een paar miljoen keer geluisterd en de laatste nummers halen net een half miljoen keer. Kortom: mensen haken één voor één af. Het is gewoon te krachteloos om 75 minuten te luisteren. Eén nummer is voldoende.

Het zet een hele relaxte sfeer neer, maar de nummers duren over het algemeen heel lang en lijken oneindig op repeat te staan. Er komt af en toe wel een belletje of tingeltje bij, maar het is voor mij veel te eentonig en biedt te weinig afwisseling. Ik zie niet echt in wat hier nu de meerwaarde van is voor een 1001-lijst. Ik heb het idee dat ik dit allemaal al 100x eerder heb gehoord, en beter. Slaapverwekkende telefoonwachtmuziek.

A fun, if at times long, electronic album. Glad to see any of these on the list because it's always easy listening. Again, some songs ran too long, others were super short but some of them were great. A welcome UK release.

Very '90s house stuff, is this even house? Is it trance? Wikipedia says "trip hop," which (a) sounds lame as hell, and (b) is probably the vibe that I don't really like. The kind of '90s electronic that doesn't resonate with me all that much. This one's decent though, there are a few tracks I enjoyed, especially the closer which had more flavor than most of the album. I'm sure there was a lot of great techno/house stuff from the '90s that's dated in a fun way, but this one's not quite that fun. Favorite tracks: Gambia Via Vagator Beach, Wait a Minute, Mission Venice. Album art: Based on this cover and the title, I was expecting something reggae, or anything really that was more "weed"-y. Were people getting high listening to this stuff? Probably. Maybe that's the missing piece here, I was sober hearing it. 3/5

A big ol nothing burger

Excellent background with hella bloat in my opinion.

In all honesty, I zoned out while listening to this. Nice instrumental grooves; I'm assuming this is included on the list for either 1) being one of the first successful examples of this style 2) holding an influential status in the music community. It tends to drag a little bit near the end, but a pretty solid listen.

Definitely music to work by. I found myself enjoying the groove but wanted it to be less mellow. All in all a good listen.

This is a great record that I have no problem spinning again, and again, and again. It's complex enough that one can listen to it intently without getting bored, but given it's rhythmic and audibly balanced nature, it can also meld comfortably into the background and still shine. As a fan of music without words, this album has been a staple for many years.

This is like elevator music, but with a beat. It's not bad by any means, but not my jam.

It is beautiful and very enjoyable, as long as I have a need to a total focus moment. I can see myself returning as needed.

Beep boop, bass repeat. I don’t like it. It’s another electronic record that I couldn’t connect with. Is it just me? It’s gotta be my fault. Right? I don’t know? I DO know I don’t care for this in the slightest.

Innocuous, laid-back background music. I really couldn’t tell the difference between most of the songs. But it was good.

I have constantly been putting off this album. And I've found out why. Every time I start playing it, I almost immediately turn it off. I also hate how I'm talking more in my notes about albums I don't like as opposed to albums I do, but I gotta speak my mind on this. Smokers Delight is an absolute snooze-fest. It will provide you some boring repetitive ideas played over and over for 8 minutes straight, then it will change into something that sounds interesting but go absolutely nowhere. You're in this constant limbo of being teased of sometihng potentially great that never comes. This wouldn't even pass as a decent rap insturmental album. Don't get me wrong, it's not unlistenably bad, just a boring one. I've yet to find something truly repulsive from this website, but it's getting closer everyday. If I need to be blazed to enjoy this album, then it's truly not worth the listen. And I've had a few drinks tonight and it's still doing feck all. Go listen to some J Dilla or something else, this really isn't worth the run time. This album is the defecto marijuana album that absolutely no one asked for.

Breakbeats, lounge, trip hop - this is a 90s album as you like it. It's the best background music. Nightmares On Wax crafted better tracks though.

I think this one has some potential, and I will give it a re-listen. There aren't many purely symphonic albums on the list and I can appreciate no singing/lyrics and just getting lost in the music.

“Nights Introlude” was one of those staple songs of the mid-nineties trip-hop & downtempo scene. It got a boost in popularity when he (Nightmares on Wax) repackaged the song as “Les Nuit” and released it on his next album 4 years later. In comparison to fellow trip hop pioneers, Portishead or Massive Attack, NoW was just a turntablist and as a result, everything is created from looping found sounds and a drum machine, which can be pretty limiting – though Mission Venice and Man Tha Journey are decent. He’s playing at Velvet Underground in 2 weeks: $46.64

One of my all time fav trip-hop songs is Les Nuits from NMOW's debut, Carboot Soul. Here on their second album, they've re-hashed that song into Nights Introlude, but it's still a killer track. I also love Mission Venice and those two songs have been on high rotation for me for many years. Unfortunately the rest of this album isn't at the same level and its very repetitive. Interestingly they also rebooted Nights Introlude on a later album and called it Nights Interlude, its very similar sounding and also very slick, I guess if it ain't broken.... Unfortunately Smokers Delight has 20 songs and clocks in at over an hour so no matter how good Nights Introlude and Mission Venice are, they just can't hold up an entire album of filler.

Some nice mid 90’s nostalgia from my teenage years. Hypnotic, smooth and languid, with nice beats and layered production. Yes, it’s probably too long, but ‘Smokers Delight’ still holds up really well today. This is a strong 4.

Relaxing ambient background music that was enjoyable, but not an essential listen. Not the type of music I would sit down and listen to intently, as it's repetition got a bit tiresome after a while. I must have been listening to the deluxe digital version, because it seemed too long.

I think the name smokers delight is prefers to describe this record. It’s such a chill, tropical, and fun instrumental record. I was a little tempted on a 5 but I think it drags a little too hard. Had this been a 50 or even 40 min record of the best material here and you’re looking at a 10. Even with that gripe I think this record is easily one of the better instrumental records I’ve heard can’t wait to listen to it on a good sunny day with a nice joint, maybe then It’d be a 10 but for now we’ll settle on a mid - strong 8, solid record give it a listen 👍

I wasn’t a huge fan of this album overall but by the end I was wondering why I liked selected ambient works so much but not this. I think it’s because that aphex twin album has a perfectly soothing quality that this record lacks. There were definitely some decent tracks on here but nothing stood out a lot except for the first track that had a bit that sounded like a sample I’d heard somewhere before. Maybe if I only listened to it as long as I needed instead of in its entirety, like I did with aphex twin, I’d have liked it more.

Pleasantly surprised with this one. Thought I would absolutely hate it based on the cover art alone. Incredibly chill. But why one earth would one end on “Gambia Via Vagator Beach”? Dreadful move.

Pretty good trip-hop album that I've never heard before. So a casual look at the details reveals it's from the author(s) favorite genre: 90s UK music that hasn't been heard by the rest of the world. Like I said, good album. But given the fact that it's little known outside the UK and there are pleeeeeenty of relevant and better albums from the genre, I'm just more convinced that Demery really needs to get out more. 3/5.

This is quite a nice chilled out listen but doesn't hit the heights I want from this style of music and that came along afterwards. I lean more towards the trance side of chillout music really.

Instrumental okay

Some chill downtempo electronica. Nothing fast-paced or frantic, just an hour and fourteen minutes of smooth-as-butter trip-hop perfection. Beautiful music to just chill to on this hot summer's day. It's background music for sure but I'm totally okay with that. Maybe there would be some days where I wouldn't be so into something so slow and mellowed out, but this just works too perfectly today. Favourite: Dreddoverboard

I'm normally not a fan of the largely-instrumental tracks but I found myself enjoying this. This definitely will be great to hear on vinyl and seems perfect for any somewhat-upscale gathering. Seems like great studying music too.

passed me by this one. i've been reliably informed its for drug induced insomnia which really sells it to you for normal life.

A really gentle skull fucking that left me weeping and gasping for air. The culmination of the tantric head sex made me commit a bad, bad crime which I can't quite remember.

It's the grandaddy of chill out albums. They were well ahead of the game on that whole Ibiza chill trend thing. It must have come out at least 3 or 4 years before Moon Safari. Actually The Orb are the grandaddys of chill out aren’t they? Nightmares On Wax can be the daddys. Perfect music for noncing round a castle with a ginger child

I was expecting something different based on the title. It wasn't very nightmare-y at all. It's also not really my thing. It just made me sleepy.

This was literally just background music. 6/10.

I enjoy most of the trip hop recommendations on this list.

Not only could I not finish it, I could barely even start it.

Decent groove, but ultimately immemorable - this album has no business being on this list. Yet another mid-90's entry of dance-floor stuff, lost amid artists doing it way better (Massive attack, Trans Global Underground, Moodswings, etc.) The author's bias towards the 90's is beginning to wear.

Groovy and funky, though the only think stopping this from being a 5 star album is length, both of the songs and the albums, I think if alot of the songs were a little bit shorter, and therefore the album was shorter, this would be an easy 5, but as is it drags a tiny bit

BL: know this album and have 2 songs already saved from it - “nightmares introlude” and “dreddoverboard”, look forward to listening to the rest of the album. AL: I liked it. Listened to the digital deluxe version which had some bonus tracks too. Overall while I liked it, it did feel quite samey. I know why this album exists, for the sole purpose of zoning out to whilst your “hazed” so sober its not quite the same. If this album was 45 minutes it would be brilliant but the extra content makes it a slightly overstayed welcome. FT: “pipes honour”, “stars”, “Rise (Reprise)” 4/5

Terribly boring, uneventful and uninteresting.

Why?

It was extremely long and boring. It is at this point that we realize that the author of 1001 is a die-hard fan of downtempo... To a point where I can no longer follow.

Hahaha when I first read the title (it rang a bell but haven't specifically listened to this before or any Nightmares on Wax) I thought of classic tobacco smoking not weed and was like ooh what kind of music would that be and then I thought of when I used to smoke and what different kinds of music I used to like listening to haha! But this makes a lot more sense and it's wonderful. Very nice and relaxing to listen to and nice to actually work to, good jazzy sections. DJing is a skill which seems really abstract to me as I know basically nothing about it so it seems extremely impressive. I kind of group it with the parts of song-writing where some people have this incredible vision for what will sound amazing and how to build the layers of sound to something great. Again a hard skill to master which is really big in DJing unless you literally just throw everything together until it sounds great. Long story short, I like it and I'm impressed.

Nineties wine bar background music. I imagine if I HAD smoked something it might help me appreciate this a bit more. I didn't mind it, but it also didn't make me want to a) move my body or b) rush out and buy everything they have produced. Not sure if the original release was a double, but I only made it through the first disc.

I really enjoyed this after a batshit work day. It was just what I needed to declutter my mind. The tunes and no lyrics had a calming effect. It was a little too sparse in places. I bet it makes more sense if listened to through the prism of the album title. Aye

It's music that would be good when you're stoned, but its not necessarily good music that's good when you're stoned. It's a little bit too polite and 'late 90s vegan wholefood cafe in a run down goods shed' music.

Interessante, eu gosto desse estilo lo fi trap chill hop like e não sei se esse artista foi um dos precursores do estilo mas se não, realmente não vejo motivo para estar nessa lista, visto que existem outros artistas que merecem estar na lista muito mais, like Nujabes. Mesmo sabendo como o estilo funciona, ainda assim achei a batida um tanto repetitiva, sem muitas alterações durantes músicas tão grandes quanto 9 minutos. Poderia até voltar a escutar mas acredito que não vai acontecer, não por ter achado ruim, mas por conhecer coisas muito melhores dentro do mesmo estilo, visto que nenhuma música me surpreendeu.

"Smokers Delight" is the second studio album by the English band Nightmares on Wax. Nightmares on Wax is essentially DJ George Evelyn. The musical genres are classified as trip hop, techno and downtempo. Gathering more familiarity with these styles, I'd classify this as more trip hop. This is mostly an instrumental album with slight variations between songs. The album begins with "Nights Interlude." It's chill and dreamy and has jazzy keyboards and a slow beat. More of a funky bass is added to "Wait a Minute/Praying for a Jeepboat." "Groove It" throws in weird sounds and tribal drums. There'd be more tribal drums throughout the remainder of the album. A 60's pop melody with keyboards and horns highlight "Mission Venice." The chill melody remains in "Rise" and an orchestral sound and congo-type beat are added. "Gambia Via Vagator Beach" ends the album with a percussion heavy song. Overall, I always felt these ambient, chill type albums are good background music. It's repetitive with its loops. Slight variations in the beats and melodies keep things fairly interesting. If you're into the trip hop and downtempo style, you'll probably like this album.

I didn't get all the way through this on my first round of listening but was very much enjoying the music as such that when I was making dinner I put Nightmares On Wax on and very much enjoyed some of their other tracks. Faves on this release would be Groove St., and Rise. Looking forward to spending more time with these guys.

I quite like the 2000 +/- 5 years downtempo chillout oeuvre, and this is a fairly solid example. Nice background listening. Fine to work to. Fave track - "Nights Interlude" - apparently there are two other versions of this track on two of their other albums, and lord knows how many remixes. I'm sure I've heard it many times on interchangeable compilations with titles like "Ibiza Chillout Session" and "Clubbed Out 2000"

As an active listening experience, this was rubbish. BUT, as background music for getting stuff done, it's fantastic. That averages out to a solid 3-stars, I think. It does beg the question, though: why the hell is this on the list? Why quality made someone think, "this incredibly repetitive, hook-less album is a must-hear!" Utterly mystifying.

I was very pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting to like it at all, lol. But it was very chill. Each song had its own theme/sound so it wasn't repetitive like some. 7/10, which is pretty good for me not really liking this genre.

Loved it. Very diverse sounds across the whole album, feels ahead of it's time. I'd love to hear modern remixes/sampling with most of the songs. I added 3 or 4 while listening and will definitely be back soon. I'd be interested to hear the live set from Freestyle '18 as well. Overall a great early entry in the field of downtempo. 8.5/10

Basic restaurant music

Started off really feeling this one. NoW comes out with some proper D-Boy sounding beats and they're immediately infectious. However, as I bumped through the album that flavour got increasingly stale. It wasn't that I disliked the vibe or the music overall, more that it all got a bit two dimensonal. The production is catchy but gets less interesting as it goes on. It seems like NoW has his loops set up and moves through them steadily, and that's kind of it. If this was an album from the seventies I would understand that, but because it's not more is needed. In that sense this record reminds me of Lemonjelly who were also big around then. It's that sort of nice and bouncy, easy listening style of beats and - in this case - it's at risk of sounding like the background soundtrack for Babestation. I don't hate it, but can't back it either.

I thought this was going to be pretty relaxing music which was in danger of being bland, but it wasn't bland and simultaneously lived up to its name It started off a 2 Then a 2.5 Then a 3 Then a 3.5 Could it go further? No. No it can't. Still good though, and Bless My Soul is going to be played on repeat for the few days. 3.5

I do love me some instrumental hip-hop, and this album delivered the goods. This was bumping in the whip when lo-fi girl was still in diapers. If there’s anything I’ve learned about Nightmares on Wax, it’s that he loves the use of (brackets). Also thought there were strong Nicolas Jaar vibes on Groove St.

Another unnecessary beats album that is supposedly as must hear as the hundred others on the list.

It seemed a touch dull at first but after multiple listens and in the right frame of mind I began to see the light. It is a beautifully uplifting and relaxing album with irresistibly catchy phrases throughout. Perfect for a ride home on a night bus. 4+/5

Not unlistenable as I anticipated it may be based on the name of the group, the name of the album and the cover art. The album was good background music and better than I anticipated, as it was all instrumentals. I probably would not re-visit this album and struggle a bit to see why it was added to this book as a "must" listen.

Not come across this artist before surprised as he’s been around since we’ll back in the 90s. I was expecting heavy reggae/dub but disappointed to get dub lite background music.

Not my favourite

This is the third album in a row that hits the 70-80 minute mark - really hoping for a 20 min punk banger tomorrow to counterbalance it. Of the three this is the least deserving of the runtime, but it wasn't as painful as it could have been. There are some hypnotic grooves to get lost in here and there with some nice developments and interpolations. Things started dragging a bit by Bless My Soul but picked up again for the more left-field closing tracks

Holiday hotel smaltz

Awesome chill background album. It is great for background work type of stuff. However, as an album by itself, it does not really stand up, as the music is not, in my opinion, interesting enough to listen on its own. That's why it will get only 4 stars.

I thought this was going to be really annoying music for people who have no personality outside of talking about weed non-stop. Instead it was pretty relaxing. It actually lulled me to sleep and I had to go back and finish it. What a pleasant surprise that this wasn't "4/20! blaze it,bro!" bullshit that I was expecting. I mean, it probably would be a nice album to get stoned to. That's the way to enjoy the herb, friends: with a good album, grooving, and not annoying the shit out of others (me) with buffoonery

Sometimes i felt it, but mostly nice background music for a beachclub in the summer.

In my memory the predecessor of this album is much better than Smokers Delight, which is one of many boring triphop albums that got related at that time.

I guess this requires a certain mood, perhaps on a hot summer evening when you want to chill with this playing in the background. Now it just sounded very slow, repetitive and devoid of any excitement.

Tis groovy. Panny says that he likes that it is subdued, predictable, and safe, and I agree. Like a stress ball for your ears. It’s pretty long... Definitely more of a background soundtrack for when you’re smoking doinks with chums or throwing a Ham Party.

First few tracks I found kind of boring? But as it progressed I found myself grooving more and more. There are tons of ear wormy sounds that start to tickle your brain as the album progresses. I think I need to relisten under the blissful influence of an edible to fully appreciate it.

I’m pretty sure this album was made entirely using the pre-set beats and kooky sounds on the keyboard synthesizer I used in Mr. Clausen’s 3rd grade music class. the groove and chill vibes were there tho. 2.5 stars for easy listening 🍃🌲✌🏻

Mid 90s UK techno! Fuck this is an over-represented genre in this list. Naturally, the album is over an hour long because it always is. Imagine what these idiots would have done if 75min wasn't the limit. 2/5 and FUCK OFF.

It was pretty good, but sort of like new age music where it's nice to have on in the background but doesn't really make a big impact. A little edgier than new age but same sort of vibe. 3 stars.
