Boos mix of styles but kinda just blends into pleasant background music

Creo que mejora si estás fumado. Una pena que no fume.

After chilling for 70 minutes to this, the final track was completely awful. Will not listen again.

like elevator music in a 90's bar

It's a vibe, some nice beats but it lacks on engagement. I forgot I was listening to an album at some points during it.

Atmospheric and relaxed. But also repetitive and, in the end, sort of boring. I could see it as background music to a Sunday hangover, but sitting and listening exclusively just wasn’t interesting.

Not all bad. Some interesting special effects. "Bless My Soul" is cool; same goes for "Rise" and "Dreddoverboard".

This is... fine... Nothing special about it really, it's a tiny bit too jarring to be good background music but doesn't give you enough to warrant your full concentration. Not awful, but we've had much better examples of this kind of thing. 2/5.

So average.

PREFS : Pipes Honor, Stars, Mission Venice, Rise MOINS PREF : Dreddoverboard

Nah mate. Not for me. Music was ok but it’s not my thing.

It's ok background music, but boy some tracks need to be edited down. The same loop for 6+ minutes gets quite stale.

I was expecting something different based on the title. It wasn't very nightmare-y at all. It's also not really my thing. It just made me sleepy.

This was literally just background music. 6/10.

Mood music, but one note

Klinkt zoals ik verwachtte. Maar vooral wat traag en saai

Lo-fi beats to study, chill and research the UK Power sector to. Rating: 2/5 Playlist track: Bless My Soul Date listened: 28/04/23

I forgot all about this even while I was listening to it

Terribly boring, uneventful and uninteresting.

Varför vill jag typ ge en trea. Fast nä, det var väl bra men vem sätter på den här typen av musik egentligen?

Nineties wine bar background music. I imagine if I HAD smoked something it might help me appreciate this a bit more. I didn't mind it, but it also didn't make me want to a) move my body or b) rush out and buy everything they have produced. Not sure if the original release was a double, but I only made it through the first disc.

Video game soundtrack

Good background music but very repetitive.

2/5. Not bad just kind of background music to chill and study to.

Instrumental trip hop. It's smooth after 3 tracks. Nothing stand out, but great ambiance. It's not bad. It's just there. Pleasant background music.

Not great, background music at best

Some cool beats on this but they go on for a long time and listening to the whole album is kind of a drag

Repetitive and dull.

Boring

This could be good setbreak music at concerts, innocuous background music to smoke a spliff to and groove. Does that mean it should be on the list? No not really but I'll round up

Not come across this artist before surprised as he’s been around since we’ll back in the 90s. I was expecting heavy reggae/dub but disappointed to get dub lite background music.

Nowhere near as good as anticipated

In my memory the predecessor of this album is much better than Smokers Delight, which is one of many boring triphop albums that got related at that time.

I guess this requires a certain mood, perhaps on a hot summer evening when you want to chill with this playing in the background. Now it just sounded very slow, repetitive and devoid of any excitement.

I’m pretty sure this album was made entirely using the pre-set beats and kooky sounds on the keyboard synthesizer I used in Mr. Clausen’s 3rd grade music class. the groove and chill vibes were there tho. 2.5 stars for easy listening 🍃🌲✌🏻

DISCLAIMER: I was sober while listening to the first half of this album and wasn’t getting too much out of it. But after lighting up a doobie, I was finally able to partake in that sweet Smoker’s Delight. Then the buzz wore off and I again realized that this music is kinda boring. 2.5/5

Mid 90s UK techno! Fuck this is an over-represented genre in this list. Naturally, the album is over an hour long because it always is. Imagine what these idiots would have done if 75min wasn't the limit. 2/5 and FUCK OFF.

It was nice in the background

This album was a challenge to listen to. The only way I could keep somewhat focused is by putting it on in the background while I worked. The whole album is just slow electronica/trip hop, with random sampling thrown in, and subtle hints of reggae. It wasn't bad for what it was, but it certainly isn't some revolutionary album, in my mind at least. Also, 1hr and 15 minutes of this kind of music is way too long. One song faded into another with this album, making it hard to pick a favourite. The album, if listened to all at once, would easily lull you off to sleep. It may be enjoyable while baked, but sober, it is nothing but trance enducing elevator music. Favourite song: if forced to pick, Dreddoverboard. Pipes Honour wasn't bad as well. Least favourite songs: pretty much the rest of the album. There were a few good songs throughout, but everything blended so bad, I don't know which ones they were 2/5

Notes - trip hop instrumental beat tape from producer “nightmares on wax” - most of the tracks here are 4ish minute midtempo grooves with different samples and textures coming in and out - theyre all quite similar and blend together - the bass is nice and warm in all these tracks, sounds great on headphones - comparing to other albums i’ve gotten so far, not as moody or compelling as dj shadow, not as experimental or unique as talvin singh Fav - mission venice - this was the first one that felt like a change of pace Least Fav - Groove St - found the samples annoying 2/5

1/14, 7%

Lo-fi trip hop that belongs on the soundtrack of a mid tier 90s UK stoner movie.

Sin muchas pretensiones, ritmos tranquilos, música ambiente, todo instrumental, un tanto moderno, chill-out suave. No destaca en nada. De este tipo existen muchos

It's nice background music for a triphop album, but really nothing more. It didn't annoy nor excite me in any way.

An enjoyable elevator ride. What floor was I going to again?

Inoffensive and uninspired.

Don’t know how albums like these get considered on the top 1001 albums to listen to before you die, not much substance to them. Like chill beats but it’s nothing special or nothing I can’t find when I look for a “___ type beat” on YouTube

I usually like stuff from the Warp roster. I think some of the earlier releases from that label have aged gracefully (even if they *do* age). But not this, though. What seemed leftfield or edgy at the time, and supposedly recorded during late-hours, weed-fuelled creative sessions (see that cover) now just sounds like boring background lounge music. Trends catch up with you so quickly for electronic styles, don't they? But even with that in mind, there's here none ot that quirky spirit animating J Dilla or Flying Lotus a decade later (I hear Nightmares On Wax is sometimes compared to them). Heck, even ultra-minimalistic DJ Krush, who operated at the same time for Ninja Tunes in a very close genre, sounds quirkier than that. Besides, and as far as that dubious "trip hop" label is concerned, there's none of the multi-layered melodic fest of Massive Attack or DJ Shadow's early records here, and neither the noir or vintage charm of deeply atmospheric projects such as Portishead or Broadcast. It's a bit bland, really. And overlong. And repetitive just for the sake of it. With or without smoking dope to it. So if you want to trip out to repetitive stuff, dub reggae probably works better thanks to its echoey nature and sense of space and time (there's *more* than a bit of dub in the basslines here, to be fair, but it sounds misplaced, even neutered, in the middle of those other dated sounds...) To put it in a nutshell, this record is more like smokers' *waiting room* than smokers' delight to me. Next, please. Number of albums left to review or just listen to: 823 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory: 95 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 45 (including this one) Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more important): 39 (including this one).

Delightfully smokey.

Smoother than a hog milk dessert, but nothing that stands out

Unforgivably dull.

elevator music

But how much one has to smoke to be delighted?

This is Earth Radio. And now, here's... human music. 2.5/5

So this is the type of music trip hop youtubers ripped their samples off, makes sense for them to steal the work of an already talented musician. It's really diverse, taking samples from funk, reggae, techno, latino, and jazz. I get a lot of nostalgic vibes. It's an inoffensive album, nothing stuck out as awful, but I can't say I enjoyed much of the album. It's a coherent record to relax or study to. Too long, and the songs are also too long, especially so reliant on repetition. Favorites: Night Interlude, Wait a Minute, Bless My Soul, Mission Venice

Dated, Ibiza chill out style, elevator music. A 'no' from me.

If this lead to untrue in any way then it was worth it Weak 2

boring

Good sounding music but waaaay to repetitive. Every song was too long for it’s own good and while the music itself sounded fine the album was not very useful

Erik Satie meets trip hop music. I missed this Leeds based producer who creates a mellow combination of mesmerizing bass and luminal keyboards. Not at all like pointless new age music, great mindscapes.

This is okay. 'In A Space Outta Sound' should be on this list instead.

Just a bunch of weird noises on loop.

Tja, niet vervelend, maar meer iets voor de toilet van een sterren restaurant.

Falls flat at times. Not expecting every second to be captivating, but some of the grooves leave something to be desired.

Did I get stuck in the dental office waiting room? Maybe the first three songs, and then it got slightly funkier. But not much. Nice music to snooze to. Again, why is this on the list?

Not my favorite but heard the Pharcyde sample in the first song (or whatever song pharcyde sampled) so it gets a point there.

Not for me. Not a big fan of heavily sampled music, this lacks personality. A bit like listening to a soundtrack for a movie you don't know.

Nice instrumental background music for working. I can't give it a high rating since I'm not sure why it's on this list.

Didn't make a great impression but wasn't bad by any means, again stuck with a deluxe album so I stopped playing after a bit

Background music, to be expected in a cocktail bar or an up-market hotel lobby.

It became too repetitive at times

the standout track for me was bless my soul - as for the rest of this album, i honestly found it pretty unremarkable. like, it ended and i didn't notice for maybe 4 tracks that we'd moved on to other artists. i also went back just now and re-listened to bless my soul, and feel like standout may be too strong a word. probably, i am not high enough to enjoy this properly. that said, if i were looking for an album to properly enjoy while thoroughly baked, i would have to get through a *lot* of others before i came to this one.

I like this album just fine as a background album, one I can put on while working, or reading. I don't quite understand why it's included in this list.

Some of it was cool but a lot of it was grocery store music

Boring

2/5. Background music only

Its perfectly fine to put this on in the background because of the decent grooves and an okay vibe, but it's a little too mellow and boring for me. 2/5.

It is alright but not really memorable. I probably won't listen to this again.

Not my brand off electronic music

It was background noise, very enjoyable background noise, but that’s all it was

A very dreamy instrumental album, where based on the title could easily see people listening to this on a lazy arvo smoking up a storm. Not really a fan of the album, but it makes ok background music for studying/working Best: Stars Worst: Groove St

chill vibes, feels like a thievery corporation or like a less-dark massive attack. pretty long though, felt done with it about 6 tracks from the end

Lo Fi chill for stoners

hmm första 2 låtarna var goa, sen blev det cancer i huvudet

Cool sound, but no...

It was good for what it was: chill trip hop/acid jazz beats. I just don’t listen to this type of music, so I wasn’t a huge fan.

Fine, very long and samey. I can see how it would be an influential album for its genre, but if you are not interested in that it’s not very attractive

OK background music, but despite its length it fails to rise beyond that.

Not really my thing, but not terrible if you like it

Boring and pointless. I was waiting for something to happen and then, all of a sudden, it didn't.

On first listen, this one is not for me. Lots of samples I recognise but I struggled with it. Not a natural chill album for me.

With a title like 𝘚𝘮𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, I expected something memorable. Instead, I got an album that seems content to coast on the same relaxed grooves for nearly an hour without ever developing them into anything particularly interesting. The atmosphere is there, but atmosphere alone isn’t enough. Track after track drifts by in the same hazy mood, and before long everything begins to sound interchangeable. I kept waiting for a moment that would surprise me or pull me back in, but the album never really gives me one. Maybe it works as background music, but as something I’m supposed to actively listen to, I find it painfully monotonous. More than anything, it leaves me wondering why it’s considered essential listening in the first place.

Electronica is stupid

I don’t think there is any sugar-coating this - it is shit. Boring, repetitive wankmusik, and it goes on for 72 fucking minutes. I’d rather stick thistles up my arse than listen to this again.

Misleading album cover and title

OK background, not sure I ever needed to hear it outside of hold music

Listen, no judgement to anyone who enjoys getting high to this album but I truly pray that as you make your way through this challenge you find far better albums to light up to than this one.

I just don't care for instrumental music with no lyrics. I tune it out like it's background noise

It started with flashbacks of the smooth jazz my mother subjected me to as a child. It somehow got worse. Incredibly repetitive and worse, it was boring. I kept thinking something might happen in a song but the only thing that happened was my increased indifference. 128 days in and easily the worst album yet.

I hated this. Honestly I didn’t enjoy a second of it. It just seemed to keep going on forever. To give it credit it’s not the worst album I’ve heard on here or anything but it absolutely was not for me.

Songs are way too long and way too repetitive. How can anyone listen to the same one-measure loop for 8 minutes?

“You are currently number 72 in the queue, please continue to hold. One of our representatives will be with you shortly.”

So I guess the concept is “music to get stoned by“? In a world where Pink Floyd exists, I’m not sure why we need to “invent“ a whole new genre for this activity. This album is tedious in the extreme. Almost every track overstays its welcome by several minutes. Which maybe you wouldn’t mind if you were stoned enough…

This is the album that I have liked least by a long shot. At least other electronica stuff I’ve listened to has a danceable beat (Bjork, Fat Boy Slim) or is interesting (Suba). This is just boring and soulless

And I quote “the music your Nintendo Wii plays while it's loading the Weather Channel.” Exactly.

what is this shid

ik kijk nog liever naar alle seizoenen van alle versies van Big Brother van over de hele wereld, onafgebroken na elkaar... dat lijkt me minder vervelend dan naar dit te luisteren

Listening to this made me feel like I was having legitimate nightmares on wax.

I’m sorry but this is elevator music

Boring and forgettable

Shit delight

My god

Not available in my country

Fell asleep whilst listening, dreamt I was stuck in a lift.

Visst, skönt i hissen, men... gjort av AI?

Feels like background music for a restaurant inside a shopping mall at nighttime or something

(1/7) maybe it sounds better if you're stoned?

Pointlessly long and repetitive.

Completely unremarkable

Having listened to a number of DJ-as-musical-artists throughout my time doing the challenge, one thing has become clear: the music they turn out is purely functional. That function might be dancing, or getting high, or doing the horizontal bop, but what this music is *not* designed for is close listening on earbuds. In that context, it becomes readily apparent that there's no meat to any of this, no heart to it at all. Unlike the music of Motown (for example) which was danceable *and* had deep emotional pull, this stuff is hollow and dull.

Album #41 Nightmares on Wax: Smoker's Delight Four Kings Casinos and Slots ass music. There really is no reason for this album to go on as long as it does, without offering anything captivating. I guess that the point is to zone out and smoke to the album, but if that is the intended purpose, then why even include it on this list? Much like the Sabres of Paradise album I got earlier, I either just don’t like 90s techno, or the curator is making some very curious selections. Because, from what I gathe,r neither album seems to be particularly well-received. Either way, I guess this album is a must listen if you are a stoner in the mid-90s who is repulsed by the idea of substance in art. Overall, just painfully boring and unnecessary. Best Tracks: Nights Introlude, Stars, Mission Venica Worst Track: Pipes Honour Score out of 10: 3

Wie schafft es Fahrstuhlmusik für Headshops in diese Liste?

Not my style, found this boring and not musical

Fine, I guess. Until I realized I was only 6 songs in and had over half way to go of just background vibes

Nightmares is right

Bo-Ring!

1⭐️ I am such a lyric/sing-a-long kinda gal, so this album did not do it for me; not my style at all. I tried really hard not to skip through songs.. but some of them I just found to be boring and long (one was 9 mins!) songs I already knew: n/a fave new song(s): me and you

Ends this whole shabang with an absolute dog turd. What a ride it has been though. Realised I like hip hop and dad rock.

Basic beats. Kinda boring honestly.

I genuinely don’t think anything really deserves a one on this list. Maybe this is the Mona Lisa of elevator music and there are people who are really into that. Criminal with this album cover and name that this isn’t reggae or ska. Just what a colossal waste of time for me musically. Nothing about this inspires creativity in me or a desire to make art. 30 minutes after listening to this and I couldn’t hum you back a single thing that happened in this album. It’s not devoid of value, it is probably the best thing in the world for someone specifically craving this, but that’s not me.

Sorry but this is a waste of time. You have to be really high to enjoy this. Smokers Delight if you will...

I'm starting to realise there is quite a lot of bring shite on this list. This is one such album...1 hour and 15 minutes of the same boring beat. Why is this essential?

Musique que je qualifierais d'ascenseur.

I don't get it. More blend than this, you get soup.

Hab mich bei denen schon immer gefragt, was der Hype soll. Das Album machts nicht besser … ungefähr so spannend wie die Demoversion von hip-hop-ejay 4 🐻

Not high, don’t need background music for it.

Oh god sooooooo borrrrrringgggggggg

Elevator music if it was somehow less boring. Snoozzzzze

Another UK embarrassment.

Given the over 1.5 hour runtime, this got two songs.

I suppose there's a miniscule chance that this might be bearable if you're off your tits. I'm not. So it isn't.

not my type of music all the songs were instrumentals I like some instrumentals but it's rare for me to like one let alone 16

Nah. 1.4

I had never heard this before and am fine never listening to it again. It droned on and on and on.

Instrumental, no muy de mi estilo

Tecno should have one, two maybe three albums on this list just to acknowledge it is a kind of music. But I think I have had at least 10. Way to much bad stuff

Kind of okay for background music, but overall pretty disappointing. I don't see actively seeking this out again.

This was boring as fuck

An hour and fifteen minutes of drum-machine diarrhea and soulless lite-jazz noodling for your next Eurotrash cocktail party or late night chill sesh that you really really wish you didn't have to be at.

Okay enough as background noise, but so incredibly boring to sit and listen to. Maybe is more engaging when you're high, but there is so much better music for that too. Entirely skippable

I could name 1001 more albums not on this list that are more essential than this. Just background music really I don't know what else to say.

I hate 80s synth, but I don't think I'll ever hate a sound as much as 90s synth and drum machines. Vaguely new age, sounds like muzak I would hear piped in in a shop where they sell a lot of incense, crystals with healing powers, and "herb grinders". Awful, a true test of endurance to listen to this for an hour and a quarter. Like the music of the band Gong, this album is one of the strongest arguments against marijuana I can imagine.

The same sounds over and over again on repeat for over an hour. Ugh!! So bad!!

Dull, bland and undistinguised - should not be on this list

Zuhause, Heidenheim, Deutschland. Beschissene Loungemusik.

POSTSCRIPT: I wrote the below review after 1 1/2 songs. There was more than an hour to go. This might be worse than Kid Rock. Legitimately. A record you turn on, play on a phone, in another room, where you are not, and then do anything else. Just absolutely pointless. PRESCRIPT This is the blandest, flavorless trip hop I’ve ever heard in my life. There is almost nothing to redeem this utterly boring music. I’d gotten to enjoy some of NOW’s music but this just makes me want to run away. Commits the cardinal sin of being so uninteresting as to be unlistenable, and thats saying something given that Kid Rock is on this list.

mind-numbingly dull

I'm a non-smoker, so this wasn't a delight for me. Each song becomes very repetitive very quickly. The whole thing is too long. Whoever put this forward to make this list must have been a smoker or bribed.

You are currently thirty seventh in the queue. Please hold the line. Your call is important to us and we will be with you shortly.

Did not listen to whole album front to back. It was nice though boring. Good for lobby music or to set a vibe in the background without being distracting.

Smokers Delight by Nightmares On Wax was a completely new listen for me, as I’d never heard of the artist or the album before. Unfortunately, it didn’t win me over. The opener, Nights Introlude, genuinely sounds like the template for phone hold music — I honestly felt like I was on the line to HSBC. Things do improve slightly after that, but not by much. The record settles firmly into background music territory: nothing really grabs your attention, and nothing feels particularly memorable. At 16 tracks, it drags on far too long, and overall it felt rather pointless. I won’t be coming back to this one. Favourite track: If I had to pick, Bless My Soul stood out a little, but only just. Least favourite track: Nights Introlude — an awful start. Album artwork: A chaotic, messy cover with far too much going on. Not for me.

"It's not the yellow curtains. Nor curtain rings. Nor is it bran... Heidegger suggests that "Nothing nothings" - a calm sensible idea with which Sarte, among others, disagrees. (What Heidegger thinks about nothings is not nothing.) Heidegger points us toward dread. Having borrowed a cup of dread from Kierkegaard, he spills it, and in the spreading stain he finds (like a tea-leaf reader) Nothing. And it is not the yellow curtains behind which fauns and astronauts embrace, behind which flesh crawls in all directions and flickertail squirrels fall upward into the trees. And death is not nothing and the cheering sections of consciousness ("Do not go gentle into that good night") are not nothing nor are holders of the contrary view... Put it on the list." Nothing: A Preliminary Account,Donald Barthelme I'm no expert on nothing, but Mr. Barthleme may want to turn his attention to Smokers Delight. 0 Nightmares on Wax here set out to conduct a noble experiment to answer a question that has surely troubled many a listener: is Rap Music better when you take away all the rapping? The answer is, disappointingly, that it makes no difference. I am awarding a half point, however, for the fluent trolling, over an hour in, in immediately following ‘Rise’ with ‘Rise (Reprise)’. Classic mischief. 0.5/5

No thanks, not my jam

Long running length and very repetitive, down tempo hip hop with jazz elements. Just too long at 78 minutes

The opening track kind of sets the tone for the whole of the album really - very mid-90s trip-hop, lightly funky... Promises so much but then just drifts by without ever really going anywhere interesting at all. All the hallmarks of the era and the genre, but devoid if personality and charm. Doesn't hit the spot for me, I'm afraid - no grit, no balls, no hooks, just a pointless style-workout.

Incredibly boring and unnecessarily long

Do people pay to get on this list or something? Lame.

This isn't an album you listen to. You just put it on in the background for noise. Granted, this isn't horrible, there are a couple (which isn't a lot on such a long album) great tracks, but fuck was this boring as hell. I really don't see the appeal because every song lasts for fucking ever and there isn't much interesting going on

okay seeeehr uf chillo de sound. uuultra tüüfe dubby bass. bi dreddoverboard findi die 808 cowbell eaasy nervig aber s gsangssample isch no geil. pipes honour seeehr cooli gitarre. find etz alles eeeehner lame? aber zum teil no interessanti sache. so d keys töned no nice. he finds insane langwilig kei ahnig. jo okay da isch etz uhuere langwilig gsi git e 1??

load of shite

Not my thing. Definitvely not a smoking weed album. Too loud and busy not relaxing at all. This is NOT ever a top 1,000

Nope. Junior Jazz.

Absolutely not for me. I’ve never listened to electronica and now I’m sure I’ve not been missing anything. Couldn’t have had a worse choice for the first of my 1001 albums

Bad Chill-Out. While chilled at first it soon gets boring and repetitive more like being on hold to the customer service helpline for an hour and a quarter. It gets repetitive mostly cause it's loop based, sequenced, time stretched, processed (even the "solos") to the point of being predictable.

Absolutely disposable, background music for pret-a-porter store :-(

Haven't heard of this before. Nothingburger 1/5

Really blank and uninspiring

Surely already heard in the afternoon or evening, at some rooftop or beach bar, somewhere. Wouldn’t even make the cut for my elevator if I had one.

DJ music is not really my thing. It’s fine to have in the background but to listen to on its own, imo, is boring. This album doesn’t break that mold for me.

It was okay

I originally hated it, but then it actually became somewhat okay background music. Then I disliked it again when I managed to tune back into it. Anyways, this is just hold/background music from a place you don’t want to be. Or maybe the Weather Channel? 1 star for the bongos I guess.

Bastard's hung up....... Polymath

So long... so repetitive... I came in with doubts, was a bit hopeful in the beginning, and no just waiting for it to end. Sorry for everyone involved, but I just don't find anything in here. It is boring to me, but worse- it feels like no one made it. No human touch at all. So fucking sad when I think about it now. Ps........ Just yesterday I wrote here that the streak of albums generated to me was good. This one was a reminder why I quit my previous 50 album streak. IT'S A WASTE OF TIME I have music to listen to. Don't throw shit albums here. It's so fucking annoying. I hope for better ones soon because I want to get to 100 before I take another brake.

DNF-bad started boring, got increasingly worse as it went on somehow sounds more dated than albums way older than it i’m not the biggest electronic music person but i can appreciate the good stuff—this ain’t it chief, especially right after the DJ Shadow record

Helt fint at lytte til når man venter på at komme igennem til forsikringsselskabet, meget at lytte til i 60+ minutter frivilligt. Navnet trækker yderligere ned, vildledende markedsføring

Boring experience. This isn't my smoking music...

Inoffensive lounge music. For uninspired swingers.

Languid and spiritless.

я не понимаю прикола, в чем кайф слушать ебучий постный инструментал 70 блядских минут, 1/5

Background music idk I’m not feeling well today so it could be that but I didn’t make it through this one. I was listening to it under ideal circumstances in that I was just sort of mindlessly scrolling but eh.

Torturous elevator to hell music. Just why?

Had never heard of this band. Not a genre I typically listen to. The sound of this record is good but after a while it was boring.

More like, "Pleasant Slumbers on Wax" Pre: Oh this is going to be an ICP or Kottonmouth Kings knockoff band (wasn't looking forward to that either) Post: I was really able to concentrate on my work today, almost like I didn't have any music on at all. Geez. Let me suggest two other albums to listen to instead: "The Anomaly" by DJ Logic and "Endtroducing" by DJ Shadow

Trip Hop is such a good genre of music but this isn’t that. It’s a lazy boring set of one idea songs. Just the same four bar repeat in each song and nothing happening. Maybe it passed for innovation in the 90s but it’s day one of playing with a DAW in the 2020s. Music can be this bland but it isn’t worth it.

This has the same problem every electronic kind of music has in that it gets so repetitive without going anywhere. Nothing seemed to build up to anything which is just annoying to me. 1.5/5

I assumed I would fancy this but not. Plain boring.

p754. 1995. 1 star. Music for hipster elevators. Once heard, immediately forgotten.

Too much EDM and DJ albums on this list. I'm tired of them.

There is just so much English trip hop a guy must hear before he dies eh

As one of the global reviews said, it was like being on hold for an hour and a quarter. That will do, not worth the effort of original thoughts.

Ermüdende Monotonie.

Started out nice, but oh my god will it ever end feels like I’ve been listening to it for hours

Just really boring

Nope. That's a waste of my life.

Nah, this is a bit boring. I suspect you probably have to be stoned to appreciate this one. It was so tedious that I didn't quite manage to get to the end.

Maybe I just don't get 90s electronic music, but this just sounds like the same boring background music for over an hour to me

Why is a collection of royalty free hotel lobby music on here?

Completely boring

I can almost hear a b-tier video game producer say "that sounds like something I shouldn't have to pay for." Use it for the menu screen.

Nicht meine Richtung

i really appreciate the restraint they showed in keeping this to a brisk, mind numbing 75 minutes

This album sucks. I'm sorry, but it's boring and I don't care for it at all. I never get what this sort of album is going for. I guess it's like listening to a movie soundtrack for a movie that doesn't exist? I dunno, but it's too repeaty and this mfer is 72 minutes long. 1/5

>looking for a new album >ask the 1001 albums guy if his album is actually good or just british >he doesn't understand |>pull out illustrated diagram explaining what is good and what is british >he laughs and says "it's a good album sir" >listen to the album >it's british

I had to stop 30 minutes in. I feel like I could create this (today), if you could lock me in a room and give me a couple of days with Garage Band. This music reminds me of that Friends episode when Ross rediscovers that he can play keyboard. At the end of each sound effect laden song, he would hold up a finger as if to say, "Wait for it..." and then the song would end with an explosion sound effect. In fact, one song on this album actually ended with an explosion! Yikes.

Not my cup of tea

Pretty bland fare...

One of the most boring listens I've had so far. This album goes nowhere. Some of the grooves are nice, but then they drag on for long and lose any of the impact they really had. Elevator music for stoners.

Aha, das ist Trip-Hop... nichts für mich

terrible. could not finish.

sometimes it sounded like there wasn't anything playing at all

Got bored 3 songs in and there was still over an hour left. Painful.

Unlistenable.

I do not understand why so many of these background music electronic albums are on this list. When the album finished, I didn't even notice that the music had stopped.

Nightmare is right. This is horrid.

Boredom On Wax would be a more apt name for this band. This thing is something worse than a snooze.

Good background album. The less I actively listen to it the more I like it to just chill to while I work. If it was on in a coffee shop or some kind of lobby I'd probably think it's a cool place. Not sure why it's on this list.

Canned and uninspired

Too repetitive and long, couldn't get myself to finish.

Tästä en saa yhtään mitään irti enkä ymmärrä, miksi mun pitäisi kuunnella tämä. Joo ihan kivat instrumentaalit, mutta ne ei ”puhu” mulle mitään

andy warhol

DNF. My first DNF and probably not my last. There's just nothing for me here.

tfw ur kept on hold for 74 minutes straight

Meh. I see no point in releasing this album. It went absolutely nowhere.

Waste of time

Not sure what this is doing on the list.

I almost liked the first 2 songs, but after more than 1 hour, I realized it was annoying, and that is it.

Not only could I not finish it, I could barely even start it.

couldnt listen all the way extremely bland and long

Music for a hip dentist’s office.

Yeah, sip your Chardonnay, watch the sunset, order the salad, listen to this album and fuck off.

meh not my thing

Not my favourite

Holiday hotel smaltz

Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?: not at all, it just isn’t my taste at all really Favourite song: didn’t have one

2 I just don't think this would make my high any better. The worst about being high is when you're tired, I need some energetic music or at least something grander. Ok this is a 1

Just a load of noise.

Ok, dat was saai. Maria vroeg na 2 nummers al "hoe lang duurt dit nog?"

This sounds like the menu screen music on a video game. This is a nope from me.

I want my time back

The best song was Pipes Honour, because it was a good groove. But even than felt like background music that deserved to be sampled or built upon. The whole album feels like something you should take as a base and create on top of. A 1 star in my eyes not for being bad, but for not being what it could be.

Background music

Some of these loops… fuck, by about minute 4 I’ve had enough and I’m just angry.

Wtf is this?

I'd like to say that I enjoyed this because I was stoned... but sadly, I was not.

Dogshit.

Ridiculous. Why is this on the list? It's just muzak.

Faut pas se foutre de ma gueule non plus

Very boring. I couldn’t even make it half way through.

Faaaaaaaahrstuuuuuuuhl… Tut nicht weh, hat hier aber nicht viel verloren, da nix zu melden Slow music to buy fast Fashion 1.2

Bunch of casual beats which is great if you’re in a video game or high given the albums name. Not my type of music. 2/10

Bias: nog niet begonnen en ik zie 74 minuten --> slecht gaan Ik voel hem niet, achtergrond album maar.. nop. geen must listen IMO

Shit and boring; at one point my phone alarm went off and I didn't even realize the music had changed. 5.7/10

Not good

Otro disco insustancial

These instrumentals are just not for me.

What a generic heap of crap. Uninspired from start to finish, and so repetitive. Maybe I'm just hungry, but I did not enjoy this...

not for me
