Reviews (page 5 of 13)

I kinda liked it a lot. it was very outside of my alley, but it had a slow country summer vibe that was pleasant for my morning routing

Lo-res bob can't hurt you

I'm not an expert in Bob Dylan's catalog, but this seems like a pretty good collection of Dylan songs. I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would.

Didn't appreciate this as a kid when dad used to play it in the car but can get into it now

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this album. Really has an inspired Americana feeling to the instruments. Enjoyable lyricism as well.

I tend to be a fan of earlier Dylan, a bit of rawness to him there, but if your going with later career Dylan, or somewhat later Dylan, this is probably his best album. 8/10

Enjoyed it. Not much to say but I liked it.

Bright Flight Silver Jews

I've never been a fan of Dylan, but for some reason this album is the exception. Idiot Wind is superb.

There's so much emotion in this album. You can tell he was either going through some shit, or was playing it tongue in cheek for some of the songs. All in all, a fantastic singer-songwriter record.

This is the most I have enjoyed Bob Dylan’s music, I admit I’m not usually a fan he’s clearly a talented man this album shows that

Perfect train listening album

I didn't know much about Bob Dylan except that people said he couldn't sing. I think his voice fits the type of music he was playing, though. I can groove to his style of folk music.

There's a moment in the chorus of Simple Twist of Fate, as Dylan vacillates between a full throated wail and his signature mumble, where you can see all of him.

This is the album I think of when I think of bob dylan. Quintessential stuff

twin mention!!! i love mr bob

Acercarme a Bob Dylan

An excellent album centered around a single theme: romantic separation, explored through multiple emotional angles and narrative situations. Each track presents a distinct emotional perspective, giving the album a strong overall cohesion without feeling like pure repetition. The songwriting structure is particularly striking. Bob Dylan favors a continuous narrative style built around verses flowing into one another like successive scenes, rather than relying on a traditional verse/chorus structure. This creates a fluid, almost literary form of storytelling that remains relatively easy to follow while still leaving room for nuance and interpretation. I would not give it a full 5 stars, though. As strong as the album is, the constant focus on the same emotional theme can become slightly repetitive over time. The project remains coherent and extremely well crafted, but perhaps lacks a bit of variety to reach the highest score. ++ : Tangled Up in Blue Simple Twist of Fate Idiot Wind Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts

No. 400/1001 Tangled Up in Blue 4/5 Simple Twist of Fate 5/5 You're A Big Girl Now 4/5 Idiot Wind 4/5 (2x) You're Gonna Make Me 4/5 Meet Me in the Morning 3/5 Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts 4/5 (2x) If you See Her, Say Hello 4/5 Shelter from the Storm 4/5 Buckets of Rain 4/5 Average: 4,0 Enjoyed this quite a bit. One of my favorite Dylan records so far.

Bob Dylan brings the goods as always. Breakup songs don't really do anything for me, but either way, great stuff.

Grateful for this list for introducing me to Bob Dylan, but this album was the weakest of the ones we've heard so far. Still liked it a good bit.

I thought when I started this that I was going to give it 5 stars but some of the songs were way too long. Giving off “this could have been an email” vibes.

An amazing album, with some truly transcendent tracks. Shelter from the storm is in the conversation for the greatest song ever. But a couple clunkers (Jack of Hearts, Big Girl) bring it down a notch. I’d do 4.5 if possible.

Having not listened to much Bob Dylan in my life, I get the hype and this album is fantastic

I enjoyed this one, I haven’t listened to this specific bob Dylan album before but I like his other work

Hot damn, I finally developed a taste for Bob Dylan. Time to revisit the previous albums I got from him.

The strength here is in the writing, and it really holds up. The arrangements stay relatively simple, but the phrasing and emotional detail give it a kind of depth that keeps it engaging. I usually lean toward more structural complexity, but this works because the focus is so sharp and consistent throughout.

8.5 / 10

I don’t know if there’s a Dylan album under 4 stars. This is solid. Not the best but good. Pretty crazy this was his 15th (and only 1976!).

I've listened to very little Bob Dylan in my life - this is good though. Looking forward to more from him on the list.

Man, Bob Dylan is so hit or miss for me. I was so disappointed with Blonde on Blonde, but this album’s a hit! I think it’s because I’m a music guy first, not quite as interested in lyrics, and as a songwriter, Dylan is the opposite. His lyrical writing here is sharp, but the melodies, hooks, and arrangements on Blood On The Tracks are also solid and memorable.

it's early autumn, and you're at the lake with your friends enjoying the last sunny, warmish days where you can go outside. The sun is setting, so the wind is picking up and the veach is almost deserted by now, most of the people having left by now. But you guys have a guitar and good conversation, even thought the pastries you brought are long gone and the mate is cold. The lake looks more like the sea with this much wind, and your cheeks are flushed by the cold and the laughter. The mountains make a beautiful contrast against the pink sky, and you're freezing, hands in your pockets and jacket zipped up to the top. This is what plays in the background.

I liked it, even though I find Dylan's voice grating. Stand out tracks were: "Tangled up in Blue" and "Meet Me in the Morning"

Listened to this last week actually. First Dylan album I have heard from the 70s and it was really good

Pretty good and chill but not like mindblowing or anything.

Lowkey literate.

Bob does well here. It's not perfect, but I like it. 3.9/5

First time listening to a Dylan album all the way through. Enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but he's definitely an acquired taste and some of the songs are way too long. Highlights; Tangled up in blues Meet me in the morning

great!

Quality - not his best in my view, but still excellent - great songwriter and I actually like his voice

better than a lot of other Dylan, pretty good overall and had a nice vibe too it. Lyrics were still entirely incomprehensible but atleast they sounded good. enjoyable listen Best song - tangled up in blue

This is my third Dylan album that I have reviewed, and I keep saying “I’ve never much of a Dylan fan, but…” However, after another four star review (the other being Blonde on Blonde), maybe I am a Dylan fan. His voice can still wear thin on me, but it bothered me less on this record. And I thought this album was really solid, all the way through. I will definitely be listening to it again.

I hate Bob Dylan. I’ve had 4 of his albums so far resulting in two 1 stars and two 2 stars and it was very close to being a clean sweep of 1’s. I had a sense of dread when this generated but you know what, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m struggling to figure out a reason not to give this 5 stars, never thought I’d say that about a Dylan album lol. I enjoyed every song on it, there’s a few I would even say were bloody brilliant. The main thing holding it back, great album aside, I still fucking hate Bob Dylan lol. Top Track - Shelter From The Storm

Tangled up in blue is great

Bob Disco playlist incoming

I listened to this album on a warm walk, having finally caught back up on my daily poem writing project. Highway 61 Revisited was a revelation for me upon first listen, as I connected immediately with the folk rock sound of Bob Dylan on that project. While Dylan is still just as incredible of a storyteller on Blood On The Tracks, I find the instrumentation to be a little less compelling and a bit busier. I still absolutely love the promonence of the harmonica throughout though, and the album is by no means a bad time; it's just some more simple, emotional folk music, with a more standard blues rock sound than the electric influences Dylan will go on to incorporate later. Highlights: Tangled up in Blue, Idiot Wind, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, Meet Me in the Morning, Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts, If You See Her, Say Hello, Shelter from the Storm

'Tangled Up In Blue' and 'Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts' are two of my all time favs

Not bad, I liked it.

intimate & raw, let’s you inside bobs mind after the breakup with his wife. the lyrics were on point

Fine, I like Bob Dylan a little

i like shelter from the storm

war gut 3-4

Great breakup/yearning album

I kind of get it now

Have I ever listened to a Bob Dylan album in full before? I don’t think so. It was an experience. This was his FIFTEENTH studio album. FIFTEENTH.

Listening to Dylan spin his tales over this amazing music is mesmerizing. Favorite track: Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts

As ever with a Dylan album you do KIND of wish that it was anyone else in the world actually singing the songs... but I found myself wishing it a little less than usual on this one. I don't know if that means he's growing on me, or if the vocal delivery just works better than usual with this particular set of songs. I guess we'll find out next time I get one of his albums here (I think I've got like three or four of them still to go? God, why so MANY... it's not like this random harmonica guy is the BEATLES or anybody...)

I liked it, never listen to it b4

bob Dylan has such an interesting storytelling style to his music that I adore- also did not know he was still touring!!

Tangled up in Blue

I get some people may not like his voice but Bob’s a grower. It took me a while but with a bit of persistence you can learn to like him too. Lovely pleasant album.

Simple Twist of Fate und Shelter from the Storm zeigen die andere Seite – ruhiger, fast zärtlich, aber nie sentimental.

Classic Dylan.

Much more accessible Bob Dylan than some of his other albums. Agree with many that too much Dylan can get grating, but he lets the melodies do more of the talking on this album. Tangled up in Blue and Shelter from the Storm are great songs. Solid 4, and pretty close to a 5.

Surprising that this record is from 1975 because it feels distinctly 1960s to me. How did this come out the same year as Rumours? Did Dylan return to acoustic because guitar rock was so "in" at the time?

I enjoy the flows of the music and his voice, and the storytelling and often artful lyrics

Clásico, nunca falla

Amazing. Almost no skip

Awesome

Really good folk album, much preferred this to my last Dylan album. Shelter from the Storm was my fav song and first listen and Idiot Wind and Tangled up in Blue were my other highlights

The more and more I listen to him. The more I like him. The movie also helped understand him a bit better.

Good Dylan....old enough you could still understand him.

I have historically not really enjoyed Bob Dylan, but maybe I was just having a good morning or maybe this was actually good? Regardless, I liked it! Well, mostly.

ok now this is some good bob dylan. this album may not be as revered as his 60s classics, but i honestly enjoyed this one a lot more. the stories are well-crafted and told in a way that keeps you engaged. tangled up in blue is probably my favorite song by him ever, and i owe it all to rock band 2. just a solid album all around. favorites: tangled up in blue, simple twist of fate, idiot wind, lily rosemary and the jack of hearts, shelter from the storm, buckets of rain

Muy chill, para estar tranqui

Good album, but Dylan is an acquired taste.

I hadn't heard this Bob Dylan album before, and I really need to listen to more of him

My late husband was a HUGE Dylan fan, while I’ve always been of the opinion that Dylan writes songs for other people to sing better. As I get older, though, I’m gaining a bit more of an appreciation, and I definitely get what the fuss is about here.

This is the second Bob Dylan album I'm gotten on the list. It has confirmed that I am a fan. I understand now what people mean when they say that he is a story teller. His music is really captivating and I find it easy to tune into what he has to say/sing.

Some very good songs on here.

Bob Dylan songs always grow on me very much, so its hard to grasp much on a first listen. Still, there are some clear hits here, surprisingly short folk-y stuff along with the expected very long slightly indulgent folk rock stuff which is great obviously. Really really really good

Some great tracks on this. As always his lyrics are fantastic, although missing his usual humour and cockiness it obviously reflects the current events that were happening in his personal life at the time and those emotions come through.

Tangled up in blue - 5 Simple twist of fate - 4 You're a big girl now - 4 Idiot wind - 4 You're gonna make me lonesome when you go - 3 Meet me in the morning - 4 Lily, rosemary and the jack of hearts - 3 If you see her, say hello - 4 Shelter from the storm - 5 Buckets of rain - 3

Angsty, soon to be divorced Dylan is best Dylan.

easy to work to. Shows what a good songwriter Bob Dylan is. Never been a huge fan of his voice.

Bob Dylan reminds me that I am a pretentious asshole when i listen to music. I like the fact that he's different. I don't even know that i like his music. But, he sounds good. He sounds interesting. And me, being the chad music enjoyer i am, i eat it up.

First experience of Dylan, enjoyed it. Great storytelling and really liked the instrumentation, especially the use of the bass in some of the tracks.

I grew up reading both Finnish and English music magazines which in early 2000s were full of all kinds of lists. The one thing those lists had in common was that Bob Dylan (or the Beatles) was usually at the top. I guess I believed what the lists were saying, because I ended up buying a few Bob Dylan albums. When I was in my twenties, I tried to like Bob Dylan, but now that I'm in my forties, I think that I finally actually do. This is no Nashville Skyline, but a solid album nonetheless.

The harmonica mosquito music is a fabulous example of someone with a terrible talent somehow making phenomenal music: Everything is phenomenal until this fella opens his mouth. However, for what he is trying to do, this may be perfection. Dylan would be hard-pressed to outdo this, his mission is accomplished.

A very enjoyable album from a great songwriter.

- Boycotting this misogynist Zio domestic abuser. - This was (see boycotting) my favourite of his albums, by far. A lot of my favourite of his songs here - poetic with quite beautiful melodies. - His voice... I mean, it's not great, but it's distinctive? - Some songs I skip - "You're A Big Girl Now", with his out of tune wailing trying to hit the high note, "Meet Me in the Morning", which feels plodding, and "Jack of Hearts" - I like the story, but the instrumentation is boring, corny, and goes nowhere (for 9 minutes) - it 100% should have been a short story or poem.

good guitar. makes my head tilt while listening to these songs.

I remember the first time I heard Bob Dylan and I angrily exclaimed ‘but he can’t even sing??!’. Anyway, I love Dylan but I don’t listen to him regularly coz I didn’t have a ‘go to’ album. I do now.

A beauty

Painful......sorry I mean full of pain. Good music though

It’s a 4.5, potentially 5 for me. First time listening to bob dylan- not usually one to listen to lyrics but the storytelling pulls you in, and the instrumentals are beautiful w the harmonica/guitar. Nice surprise!

There’s no questioning the songwriting here. The storytelling is vivid, personal, and emotionally sharp in a way that few records ever achieve. Songs like “Tangled Up in Blue” unfold like short stories, shifting perspective and time while still feeling intimate and immediate. At the same time, the musical palette can feel a bit narrow across the album. The stripped-down arrangements keep the focus squarely on the lyrics, but the instrumentation, dynamics, and vocal delivery don’t vary as much as the songs themselves might invite. The writing is rich enough that you can’t help imagining how a more dynamically adventurous band might interpret these tunes. Even so, the strength of the songs carries the record. It’s a masterclass in lyric-driven songwriting—one that rewards attention, even if the musical framework occasionally feels restrained.

While I like this and it had a lot of Dylan’s popular songs. I think I like the earlier albums more.

Meesterlijk. Moet alleen altijd denken aan meme Bob Dylan

Idiot wind is lame but most of the album is classic.

Enjoyed it more than I expected

Tangled up in Blue is one of my favorite Dylan songs. Borrowed the Vinyl from Tom.

It's a good album, but can't compare to the 60s material. Sure, Dylan is still a master of the pen and pencil, but that doesn't mean there should be a 9 minute country epic in the middle of this album. All in all, a 3.5/5

Didn't have high hopes for this to be frank, the start was a bit rough to be frank, but halfway through I found the correct mindset to be in. I'm only used to his mid-60s stuff, this is definitely a more developed sound for sure. Still has the jingle-jangle guitars and god awful singing with solid lyrics. The atmosphere is really sweet, I like how much space there is in the mix, very breathable and refreshing. Highlight Song/s: "You're A Big Girl Now" and "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts"

Album #49: Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan Genre (W): Folk, folk rock Singles: Tangled Up in Blue / If You See Her, Say Hello I have not listened to this album before. Thoughts?: I enjoyed listening to Bob Dylan’s lyrics. He’s a talented songwriter whose strongest perk is his ability to tell stories in his songs. The music is pleasurable, but the lyrics really stand out to me. Favorite songs, Tangled Up in Blue, Idiot Wind, You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, Side Two

Quite country i would say💃✨️

Definitely some Randy Newman vibes in there but less racist. Easy listening for a coffee in the early morning. A lot of good memories with Tangled Up in Blue

It’s no Desire, but it’s still a great album. Favourite track: a lot to choose from, but I’m a sucker for Shelter from the Storm.

Altijd goed, maar niet bobs beste

Simple Twist Of Fate

Don’t know if it’s because it’s a Friday and it is getting warmer out, but really enjoyed the listen. Much better than the other Dylan album. Solid 4

ok, country ish, tom and jerry white mouse with moustache, classic

Probably my favourite of Bob that I’ve listened to so far.

A solid 4 for me, Shelter from the Storm is one of my favourite Dylan tracks

Bob Dylan

Nice, Bobby!

It's no secret that Dylan's voice is an acquired taste for some. It's also no secret his voice has never prevented him from having an incredibly successful career as a folk singer. This album isn't going to change anyone's opinion about Bob Dylan. If you enjoy musing sung-spoken lyrics over simple acoustic guitar chords, then chances are you'll like Blood on the Tracks. If you've always found his voice to be irritating or his songs too boring, then you probably won't enjoy it. I'm personally a sucker for poetic lines like "Flowers on the hillside bloomin' crazy, crickets talkin' back and forth in rhyme", and it's clear a lot of thought went into the lyrics.

Bob Dylan is studied in American literature for a reason. He has a way of telling stories about the forgotten and the everyday that leaves one restless. He embodies the spirit of the vintage American dream(the unattainable kind, the "what really happens to dreamers") I can imagine the impact his music had at the time it was released. It still hits soundly today Listening to this album outside, while doing physical labor. Probably the best way to do it. A decent chunk of his music(and this album) are love poems that never should have been sung(at least by him jfc) but there was enough I put on repeat. Jack of Hearts carried.

dosta dobro! na razini blonde on blonde, dakle jače od ostalih albuma koje sam slušao. najbolja stvar "if you see her, say hello"

Great songwriting. Tangled Up in Blue is forever a bop.

BOB DYLAAAAAN

Best Track - "Tangled Up In Blue"

I've actually really enjoyed the Dylan discoveries on this website. This is another good one, the style and vibe works for me.

Great with a couple bangers.

Very nice

Soft spot for bob dylan Favorite song is simple twist of fate.

I like the steps he's taking to get a fuller, rock sound. Obviously there are some all time greats on this album. too.

Good album it’s very 70s but also timeless. I liked the song idiot wind /if you see her say hello / also lily rosemary and the jack of hearts is a really good song I like the idea of an 8min ballad it’s very traditional I liked it

Blood on the Tracks is the fifteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on January 20, 1975, by Columbia Records. It initially received mixed reviews, but has since been acclaimed by critics and fans as one of Dylan's best albums. It was a commercial success, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart. In 2015, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Ovaj album me lepo ponovo uspavao, a osim toga ništa spec.

It’s a good album but it’s nowhere near his best. Simple Twist of Fate and Shelter From the Storm are the standouts for me, and I’m sorry but I hate Idiot Wind no matter how many times I’ve heard it. I love an idiosyncratic voice, but man it’s like he’s TRYING to be annoying there.

Highlights: Tangled Up in Blue, Simple Twist of Fate, Meet Me in the Morning, If You See Her Say Hello I usually find it hard to stand Mr. Dylan and his vocal style, but here he was a bit more tolerable with a noticeable southern twang. When he does that he borders with country (for instance on Meet Me in the Morning). At certain moments on the record, his vocals can even sounded a bit like SpongeBob. I quite liked the sound and storytelling of Lilly, Rosemary and Jack, but the song got a bit too repetitive since it's so long. Heck, I liked all but two songs but a good number of them had just an issue or two so they didn't become highlights. This is usually a sign that a record will grow on me with a couple of additional plays. Therefore I must say I actually liked this record. As a whole it works and it is worth revisiting. But my view of Dylan as an overrated artist still stands.

Solid!

I’ve always found bob kind of inaccessible to an extent. But to its credit this is a beautiful melodic bitter album. Filled with great little lines that make you ponder and lovely little melodies I could have listened to it on repeat for the day.

I think it’s fair to say that this is a record with some fantastic lyricism, clear themes, and tracks where the listener can even resonate with some of the feelings throughout. Where I lose interest is the fact that if you didn’t concentrate and listen to the lyrics (which I think you have to do sometimes to actually hear what he’s saying), you can imagine yourself walking past a guy with a guitar busking or playing in a tavern wailing about his ex-wife, where you’d probably shrug your shoulders, let out an ‘urgh’ and carry on walking. I think ‘idiot wind’ really brings that side of him actually, and even though I actually think that might be one of my faves throughout I can see how the guys out there who think he can’t sing turn the radio off when that comes on. ‘Tangled up in blue’, ‘Simple twist of fate’ and ‘meet me in the morning’ are personal faves as I feel like those are the tracks where the lyrics express the themes clearly enough without needing the screech of a harmonica or his voice to really hit the point that he’s sad about his marriage home. I’m not going to slate this too much as I feel like I can understand why nerds out there love this, I just feel I can also understand the guys and gals who think it’s overrated. But me personally, I think it’s good.

A classic album, I enjoyed. Good road trip music.

This is our second Bob Dylan album of the challenge, and the first one I was familiar with in advance. And oh, what an album! Every line is a poem of its own, and Bob just keeps delivering them time and time and time again. It's rare for lyrics, storytelling, and songwriting to combine so prodigiously, but Bob manages it, and that's why he's one of the all-time greats.

Bob Dylan is not my usual cup of tea, and yet this first listen left me wanting to revisit and dig deeper into a few of these stories in the future. He's obviously a great storyteller, but in a very uniquely personal and charming way, as if every song is recounting something that happened to him just last week. I was engaged the whole way through! Very pleasantly surprised by this Folk pull! Standouts: Idiot Wind • Meet Me in the Morning • Lily, Rosemary and the Jack Of Hearts • Buckets of Rain

It's a blessing and a curse: My mother thrashed this record when I was a kid. I went through a long phase of finding it incredibly annoying. After growing up I learned of the critical merits of Bob Dylan's music. This (and many of his other records) will always be entwined with my childhood memories; an integral part of my musical upbringing. While that may sound profound, I have a collection of Mondegreens of which "Tiger-loving blues" for Tangled Up In Blue being my favourite. Which, is interesting because the lyrics I think are a huge part of Dylan's critical acclaim; sadly I looked past those as a youngster and can only appreciate them now.

great album. one of the great Dylan Albums. "Tangled Up in Blue" or course is a great tune as well as "Simple Twist of Fate", the long, "Lilly, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts", "Shelter from the Storm", and "Buckets of Rain"

Never expected this but I might be a Bob Dylan convert from this album

Highly enjoyable

Ah, the eternal Dylan conundrum. I guess this is about his best (although I have a soft spot for Desire if that comes up).

Bob Dylan isn’t a vocalist first and foremost, but when creating an album such as this with engaging lyrics and folky melodies, he didn’t need to be.

Not the best Bob Dylan, but even if it was bad (which it isn't), bad Dylan is still pretty good. I had nice time listening to it.

Overall: 8/10 Classic Dylan. I think some of his best lyrics are on this album. His voice sounds pretty great here too. Fav Song: Shelter from the Storm

First time fully listening to Bob Dylan. Love it!

neljä

This was an easy album to listen to, each song tells a story in his characteristic voice and melody; definitely a one worth relistening as well, some real gems could be found there 💎

I'm not particularly well versed in Dylan but this feels to me like a very confessional album and one where a focus on the lyrics will really open it up. I'm sure that one listen of it won't do it justice but it's certainly hooked me in enough to come back to it. In some ways it sounds like classic Dylan with that folk storytelling but there's elements of honesty and emotional vulnerability here that feed in to and surely influenced more modern singer-songwriters.

Uneven on the whole but those first two tracks...

Was reading the Wiki notes - how was this already his 15th album. People really did churn out the music "back in the day" huh. Dylan will always be forever linked with the old man (thanks Dad!) so enjoyed this greatly. I'm not sure I enjoy it as much as, say, Highway or Blonde, but at least you can still *vaguely* hear what he's trying to sing.

Good but not my favorite Dylan

This was one of the best from Dylan.

For the longest time I just didn’t get Bob Dylan. Blood on the tracks was the first time I could finally see what everyone was banging on about. He’s still a better songwriter than a singer, but this album was when I could see beyond the awful singing and somehow it all clicked for me. Worth it for Tangled Up In Blue alone. Rest of the album just gets better with repeated listening. Solid 4

It’s bookended by bops and I do appreciate the quality of the lyrics and melodies throughout. Might be one I boost to a 5 upon re-listening.

Not terrible, which is as much of a compliment as I can typically muster for Dylan.

tangled up in blue 1975 united states folk, folk rock

Buckets of Rain. Listened to on vinyl at G&K's place. No better way.

This is my fourth Bob Dylan album on the list and its my favorite of the four. I don't really have a concrete reason why, it just matches up with what I enjoy most.

I enjoy the instrumentals however sometimes the lyrics do not link with the instrumentals

Oddly enjoyed 3.5

Banger Bob Dylan uden det bliver for Scooby Dooby Doo’sk

This was really good. Obvious standouts are the opening track, Jack of Hearts, and Shelter from the storm. Great songwriting and flow. Classic Bob. Nuff said.

I was never a huge Dylan fan, but his abilities as a songwriter and lyricist have to be acknowledged. And that definitely shines brighter on this record than some of the others. The songs have more maturity and structure, and the production definitely helps with this being one of the more listenable from front to back in his catalog. I’ve always liked Shelter From The Storm, but If You See Her, Say Hello was also a nice surprise. Overall an enjoyable listen.

Love this one. Though not among my top few favorite Dylan albums, this one is super listenable, and Shelter From the Storm is one of my fave Dylan songs. Can’t go all the way because I think it’s second tier for him, but still great.

Better than most of his albums I have heard.

Pretty solid album by dylan, need to pay more attention to the story telling but a great album to listen on a chill day to relax too.

Very fun listen. I get the hype.

I never got Dylan, not for decades but I do now. Everything is well crafted, the tumble of words, the music and yes his voice. The album has some wonderful musicianship and just a real sense of a group of musicians at their peak

I’ve never really listened to Bob Dylan all that much so I was excited to see this pop up, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The first time I’ve added a song to my future rotation since my first album, which is good because I was getting scared I didn’t actually like music for a bit.

I really like this one from Dylan.

Never really checked out Bob Dylan before, I kinda get it now

Quite a good album

Album #31 Bob Dylan: Blood on the Tracks There isn’t much that I can say about Bob Dylan that hasn’t been said already, and anything I do come up with certainly wouldn’t be of any particular note. I try not to idolize any other person, as I am quite cynical when it comes to talent; often believing that luck and circumstance are the primary facilitators of success. I do find it easier, however, to appreciate the greatness of those whose prime I did not have to live through, since it’s easier for me to think less of them as a person and more as a general figure that is attached to their accomplishments. But if I were to have grown up alongside the generation of good old Robert Zimmerman, I truly hope that I would have been unbiased enough to see him for what he is: a once-in-a-generation artist. It is impossible to accuse Dylan of having no talent or ingenuity since he simply exists within his own realm. Nobody else was writing the way Dylan wrote, singing the way Dylan sang, or conducting themselves the way Dylan did. Every single one of Dylan’s songs would be the greatest story a lesser artist would have ever written. The experience of listening to his work is unlike listening to any other form of music; he truly elevated the art of music into its purest form. As someone who greatly appreciates lyricism, even over melody at times, it’s hard for me not to glaze Dylan, but I will try to refrain from this point on. Every song on Blood on the Tracks is brilliant to the point that it doesn’t require explanation, and I won’t even bother. What I will talk about is the meta nature of the album, perhaps being the most famous breakup album, Blood on the Tracks, is essentially just Dylan putting out his couple therapy sessions after his divorce. The album covers all the aspects of divorce: heartbreak, anger, sadness, and in my favourite track, “If You See Her, Say Hello,” Dylan presents the eventual acceptance after the divorce. All of the themes throughout the album are apparent to me, and I appreciate them, yet I am reluctant to give this album a 10 due to the simple fact that I haven’t actually experienced much of them myself. I think that I understand what this album has to offer, yet I know that I am not even able to connect to it on a level that so many others can. So, though it is a masterpiece, and no doubt a worthy five stars, for me to give it that rating would be stolen valour in a sense. So until I go through a messy divorce and lose custody of the children, and listen to this album while sipping back a Coors Light and speeding through town in my Honda Civic, or whatever it is divorced people do, I will refrain from giving it the perfect score Best Tracks: If You See Her, Say Hello, Idiot Wind, Tangled Up in Blue Worst Track: Meet Me in the Morning Score out of 10:9.5.

I’m not a bob Dylan guy. This is a great album. The first 4 songs are amazing lyrically and put together in a very sincere way.

I can see this album climbing to a 5 in the future. The songs on this album feel so cosy and familiar. Bob Dylan’s storytelling is a real standout for me and the stripped back instrumentals accompany the songs perfectly. My favourite tracks were “Tangled Up in Blue”, “Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts” and “If You See Her, Say Hello”

I'm slowly learning how to appreciate Dylan. And with this, I'm learning that he really makes music that demands to be visited and revisited, again and again. Which kind of makes his stuff difficult for a project like this (for me at least). And I say this even though I've heard a lot of this album before, more than once too (with various levels of success). But after really sitting with it, it's clicking more and more. And I'm starting to see the rare magic that occurs in his best songs in the space between his immaculate, winding poetry, simplistic songs, and organic, almost sloppy execution. I'm realizing what I've long suspected, that his "controversial" delivery is as essential to his songs as his incredible pen. And Blood On The Tracks sees Dylan in a unique place. This is often cited as his breakup album, and it manages to capture, at various points, the warmth of love, the bitterness of the break-up, and the maturity in his ability to see his own flaws. Even if I haven't gotten *quite* to the bottom of this album, it's clear that it's pretty amazing. I will say, I think this album is at it's best in the first four songs. The full emotional spectrum is laid bare here: from Tangled Up In Blue, which sounds wistful to me, to Idiot Wind, which sounds *furious*. Although, I would also like to shout out Lily, Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts, which is a fascinating, sprawling narrative. That being said, I do like a lot of the other material here, but I've not quite gotten all the way there, at least not yet. I will say that while checking this out, I re-listened to Highway 61 and realized that it's *probably* a 5. And I can see myself returning here. Blood On The Tracks is complex and beautiful and remarkable, and even if I'm still giving it time, I can tell it's remarkable.

Really enjoy this album. Idiot wind stood out to me as I’ve never heard it before and it feels really topical to the political climate and anger after the ICE murder that just took place. Bob can write diss tracks all day.

My first memory of this album is that my mom had the vinyl record that I listened to in my 20s. My dog Eddie chewed it up when he was a puppy and I now need a replacement. This is a great full album listen. I love the guitar sound on this record, and it’s full of great songs.

Better than expected

This album seemed like a return to Dylan's beginnings with most songs having a folksy sound to them and relating a story through the lyrics. I liked the album on the whole, I just wished someone else was singing as I'm not really a fan of Dylan's voice, plus I still think many of the songs were too long.

I listened to this whilst working and given Dylan’s songwriting ability perhaps I needed to listen to the lyrics more. It was an easy listen. Many songs sounded the same and I didn’t realise when one finished and another started but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I may revisit if I have time to consider lyrics.

So far, the only Bob Dylan album where I enjoyed most of it.

3.75/5 Love the clear influence of blues, soul, and rock. Classic riffs. Production maintains a nice level of grunge and rasp without getting muddy. Is Unknown Brother automatically a Christmas song because it features sleigh bells? Didn’t feel any personal connection to it though, nor did anything still out as particularly exceptional.

One I know and love already. It was good to give it a closer listen. In the context of the other albums on this list, it stands out for having relatively simple arrangements, with the emphasis very much on the lyrics and songwriting.

Yeah Bob Dylan's good at what he does. Who knew!

Took a couple listens for his voice to stop being annoying and for me to be in the right mood to properly listen to the lyrics without getting distracted by anything else. But it was worth the endurance to hear the gorgeous stories told beautifully... mostly- maybe I need to endure a little more because he crept back into annoying on a couple songs, especially when the harmonica came out... Favourite song: Simple Twist of Fate Least: Buckets of Rain

Just started listening to the album. Kinda like the vibe of the songs, kinda country vibes but nice.

I’ve never fully listened to folk music so this was a nice journey to discovering an artist that branches from folk music

very calm and classy

loved this, favorite track was “idiot wind”

The times they are eh chaning

Perfect start to this journey. Don't love folk acoustic traditionally. Forced myself to listen to lyrics first and foremost. And yeah. He's Dylan.

I’m finding that there are singular talents whose output just has something special. Dylan, to my shock, is one for me. On a first listen, I didn’t connect deeply with most of the songs, and was feeling a 3, and yet the poetry, the storytelling… it’s just hard to imagine a Dylan, at least of what I’ve heard thus far, getting less than a (low) 4, as here.

i honestly really like it, every song was a banger

My first album, my first Dylan album. Lit Lines I like: She studied the lines on my face I must admit, I felt a little uneasy When she bent down to tie the laces Of my shoe Tangled up in blue People tell me it's a sin To know and feel too much within Bird on the horizon, sitting on a fence He's singing his song for me at his own expense And I'm just like that bird, oh, oh Singing just for you I hope that you can hear Blowing through the buttons of our coats Blowing through the letters that we wrote I’ve seen love go by my door It’s never been this close before /Flowers on the hillside blooming crazy Crickets talking back and forth in rhyme Blue river running slow and lazy I could stay with you forever and never realize the time And I've never gotten used to it, I've just learned to turn it off Either I'm too sensitive or else I'm gettin' soft /Sundown, yellow moon, I replay the past I know every scene by heart, they all went by so fast Yay

I enjoyed it. The lyrics were storytelling and poetic. The general style of music is a bit generic in my mind, but it’s also of its time in that regard. I also do get why people say Bob Dylan can’t sing … but I think the overall musical and lyrical quality compensates for that.

Bob Dylan can sure paint a picture. These tracks are all lyrically rich, even if they aren't all my favorite tracks of his. Favorite song: "Meet Me in the Morning" stood out to me on this listen, if for no other reason than I hadn't heard it before.

My third Dylan record in just the past min. This one’s pretty good.

Dylan at his best

My knowledge of Bob Dylan is, at best, patchy. I don't think I've listened to this album in its entirety until now, and what a great album it is. I like the rootsy folk sound and melodies. I read a couple of reviews which provided some context for the heartfelt, angry lyrics.

Great lyrics and a simple but wonderful sound

The stories in each song was really compelling and had me invested in his love story or sm shi

Really solid album, I’m definitely going to be more of a Bob Dylan fan every day. I liked damn you’re ever tracked on this album, but it’s not something I see myself actively going back to, even though it’s great. I’ll give it four stars, it’s close to a five.

Listened to this before. But very good!

This was my second Bob Dylan record and I really enjoyed it. The first half of the album stood out to me and the tracks I like the most were on the first half. A simple twist of faith and idiot wind stood out to me the most. The second half was much more lyrically dense so I will have to read the lyrics and listen again to really appreciate it. Overall a pleasent experience

Bob Dylan has some amazing songwriting that I do not think I have ever seen before. This album paints beautiful stories that have me sitting on the edge of my seat like a movie. What happens to Rosemary? Jack and Lily? I know half of the songs I did not get will eventually hit me in the head an hour from now and my love for this album will only grow. He also writes such beautiful love songs. My trouble with older albums is I find them less relatable and hard to grasp, but the more I listen the less of a problem that becomes. I'm not that big into this genre but it is so catchy. It feels so freeing to listen to this album and similar ones. I feel like everything will turn out just fine.

A funky and classic folk rock album, this is the second Bob Dylan album i’ve listened to. You’re a Big Girl now, Idiot Wind and If you see her say hello, were my favourites. I’m definitely in my folk era now. Looking forward to tomorrow’s album. -GEMV (13.12.2025) Rating: 4/5

Mellow, nice background. surprising.

Some similarities to big thief and bright eyes obviously Dylan is the OG but still I have trouble accepting the old adage if it wasn't for Dylan we wouldn't have etc. also it's out of context who he was and how he reached people and I'll admit I'm not all there are keen on such cultural relevant aspects of our society.

Good album. Some classic songs on this album.

Incredible album--not sure if I'm a Dylan fan yet, but this opened my eyes to the possibilities. A lot of respins.

Men noe skjedde. Han roper: Tangled up in blue, og hveser for full hals: Idiot wind. Mens den mystiske Dylanen jeg liker hvisker: But she breaks just like a little girl, og selv når han synger høyt, så kommer det så langt nedenifra at han praktisk talt hvisker høyt: The silver saxophones say I should refuse you. Unntaket er Shelter from the Storm.

First time listening to Bob Dylan (yeah yeah I know). I can't tell if he's great or if he's an alien that has only read the Wikipedia page for 'singing' and doesn't realise you don't need to sing every word in 7 different pitches. I /think/ I'm quite enjoying it. Music that you really need to chew on to get the full impact of the storytelling in the lyrics - and this is one of the few times - out of hundreds of albums I've listened to - I can say it really feels like a guy telling you a story over the top of a guitar. I don't think it's quite my thing, which is why it's only a 4/5 not a 5/5, but it's a very solid 4.

Ma ei oska nii hästi sõnu kuulata. Bob Dylan on ju siiski jutuvestja, ma peaksin suutma sealt mingi süžee välja võluda. 4/5.

Dylan returns to form after a 10 year slump.

A good album, I liked Tangled Up In Blue the most.

*first time listening* Acoustic niceness from good ol Dyl. Emotional yet chirpy

Liked a lot more than Blonde on Blonde. More chill, less "Bob Dylan doing weird shit with his voice" maybe?

One of the best Bob Dylan albums IMO.

Ooh this is cool

Beautiful, an album that tells a story. Timeless

i loved some songs, but most of them sounded a bit the same

Great album, but I prefer a few other Bob Dylan albums more than this one.

I'm not going to tell you this is his quintessential album. He's got more iconic albums for sure. But it's a damn good folk album worth listening to over and over again.

Second favorite Bob album... Favorite track: Tangled up in Blue 4.5/5

It’s so SAD

8 - GOOD

Listened in the car, walking around a greenhouse. I like this era of Dylan a lot. Some amazing grooves. I haven't looked at the wiki for this record but whoever is playing with him on this sounds amazing. Will certainly revisit this, dive deeper.

There's a couple tracks on here not for me (tangled up in blue esp.) but mostly i wanna live in this record. The space is so great for Dylan. The reverb-y vocal is nice throughout. Favs: Simple Twist of Fate, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome, Buckets of Rain

Great Album, but not Dylan's best!

I tweak this .5 for Bob Dylan voice. His most emotional album, it also feels the most relatable.

i’m not fully inclined in bob dylan but i thought this was one of the best ones i heard from him (i also really like blonde on blonde) i found it had really good songwriting, he is difficult to get into though but i feel im getting there

I really struggle getting into Dylan's music but this album is the best I've heard so far. And kind of my most prized possession but that's a story for another day

This is a great album and Bob Dylan is a fantastic lyricist... but I don't know if I would listen to it again.

I was pretty harsh on the first Bob Dylan album I got a few weeks ago, Blonde on Blonde. I said some fairly strong things about the album and about Dylan based on that album (that I stand by). Now that I'm on a second Dylan album, I'm quite pleased to say that Blood On The Tracks defies my previous assessment. It's really good! Everything on here is poetic and beautiful, the singing and performance are fantastic and not once did I feel I had to press on to get through it. Even the 9 minute long "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" managed to hold me - and might actually be my favourite on the album. If I ever find myself needing to listen to Bob Dylan, this (so far) is the album I'm picking by a mile. Really great stuff, and a pleasant surprise! Nice to know I don't hate Bob Dylan after all.

This had me Tangled Up In Blue.

Not really much to say other than its a great album. Some of the songs are a tad long for my tastes, but thats an extremely minor gripe. It's been a minute since I listened to Freewheelin', but I think I slightly prefer that one? I'll have to relisten sometime.

My dad has always been a huge Dylan fan, but untill this listen, he has never really done it for me. However, intentionally listening to the whole album all the way through, I'm starting to get why my Dad loves him! Maybe it's also an age thing now that I'm in my 40s!!

Takin' it back to his folk roots a bit on this album. It has about 5 all time great Dylan hits and some of my personal favorites, Tangled Up in Blue, Simple Twist of Fate, Meet Me in the Morning... Maybe 2 songs that aren't quite as good but still a no skip album for me

Great album. I think it might be my favorite Dylan. "If You See Her, Say Hello" is the best.

Decent, will explore more bob dylan in future

Prod chill. J'aime le drum. 3.75 étoiles

'll admit, I know of Bob Dylan and what he's known for, but I haven’t really chosen to listen to him. Still, the first song instantly gives that unmistakable Bob Dylan feeling - similar to the ones I have heard, even though it’s not one of the classics. The first song is also the clear winner for me, where the lyrics use very little words to express a lot of meaning. Most of his songs seem to emphasize a single element, which unsurprisingly is often contained in the title of the song. I haven't decided if that is a good or a bad thing, but it definitely creates a strong anchor. It’s clear that he’s a master of lyrics; he combines vivid metaphors with (somewhat) clear narratives. The music perfectly supports the lyrical content, drawing you into his world. However, to me, the music is also the weakness. I’m not very fond of his musical style, and while it’s clearly deliberate, it feels repetitive to me - likely because it just isn’t something I currently enjoy. That puts it at a 4 out of 5 for me. I say currently because I do want to dive deeper into his music, and I’m sure I’ll find more of him that resonates with me later on.

Almost gave it only one listen; but, because of the second, I found the middle songs more interesting than at first.

Very nice, the kind of record I’d put on when people are over to accompany our conversations and coffee

A decent Bob

THE Bob Dylan album. He really mastered the art of storytelling on this album. It's his most personal, dealing with mostly Love and Loss of his wife. On songs like If You See Her Say Hello he captures this sentiment in such a touching way where it's really easy to feel his words. I also like how the writing is easy enough to understand but still full of methaphors and beautiful lyrics. Shelter From the Storm is such a cute song, can't help but love it. Another interesting sentiment is the passing of time, which is expressed very well on Tangled Up in Blue, the trademark song from this album. I believe this is his best album and will probably just keep getting better with more listens.

A very pleasant listening experience and calming background music on a grey autumn day.

Really like this album and this time period of Dylan

Ég fíla bob

Bob Dylan, goddamn you. It's no secret that I hate this man's stupid, music-less, grating voice. But I really tried this time around to listen to his lyrics, to push past the pain and appreciate why everyone seems to love him. And unfortunately it worked. When you really tune in to the stories he weaves in his songs, it makes you hyper aware of just how shitty most other lyrics are. His work really is deep and thoughtful, and this album in particular ties that to some pretty pleasant music underneath it. So, it works for me. I still hate your voice. I still hate the way you play that fucking harmonica. I now hate that you've made me realize how banal regular song lyrics are. But I have to hand this one to you. Cheers, Bobby.

Actually quite solid, will check out more of his stuff

This man writes stories into music like his last name is Hemingway.

always a nice journey listening to Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan is an excellent songwriter, but also not often the best deliverer of his work. Solid songs, but a little much to listen to in one sitting. Lily, Rosemary... is amazing though

need to re-listen

Didn't really get Bob Dylan before this. Great example of good folk music, with unique story-telling through some original yet comfy lyrics, and Dylan's special take on folk music to accompany them.

banger. always dug this stuff.

Maybe more of a 3.8 out of 5. Such a brilliant album though

Some stellar songs and some are meh

I had to grow older to appreciate Dylan. There was always a handful of songs that were great, but so many more never listen to. Get past his voice, but it only gives him charm and who else could it be when you hear him. The words of a singing in poet. The words would have been enough, but in the end he's so much more.

My first Dylan album, if you can believe it. I think I do get the mystique that he's known for. There is an interesting mix of vulnerability and "what the hell is he talking about?" on top of some really sublime folk-rock instrumentals. I don't know if I would necessarily come back to this album too much (maybe on a rainy day with some whiskey) but I can certainly appreciate what it's about.

Imagine how good this would be if he could sing. 3.8.

Not sure if being "written off" was the added impetus alongside break up but this was a return to form for Dylan and while it may not have had the influence of is 60's period it is still an emotional album that works. Maybe the not most upbeat but it is a must listen.

One of the best songwriters and folk musicians of the era, which is some pretty stiff competition.

I enjoyed it. Very storytelling like, musically it's quite pleasant to listen to, very folky and bluesy, but in a charming way and not one were crazy solos go on forever. Shelter from the storm is still a stand out track, although the live version still is one of my favourite songs ever. Buckets of Rain is good as well, really enjoyed that. A very good Bob record, have to say.

Put on a little Dylan - "sittin on a fence" I said that line is great, you asked me what he meant by - "said I shot a man in gray, took his wife to Italy, she inherit a million bucks and when she died, gave it to me - I can't help it if I'm lucky" I only wanna be with you and I'm "tangled up in Blue" I only wanna be with you Ain't Bobby so cool? Yes. Yes he is.

This was a good album, Bob Dylan always has such creative songs with interesting lyrics.

3.8 2x couple of classics on here

now THIS deserved a Liner Notes episode. 4/5

Delicious listen. Not a huge fan and really enjoyed this one.

Really strong, and very consistent. I don't listen to a ton of Dylan but it was really fun. Favorites: You're a Big Girl Now, "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts," "If You See Her, Say Hello"

First Bob Dylan album listen, enjoyed a lot

Not much of a Bod Bylan fan, but there's something here.

Another great album by Bob! I've heard some of it but never really listened to the whole album, but I enjoyed it!
