4/10. I didn't really care for this, but a few tracks were kinda nice, such as Selfish.
Pretty boring. Most interesting when it's most personal. Won't listen to this again. One track I think was ok.
Lyrics kinda hidden behind music - oddly hard to parse for lyric focused music. Venom track is pretty good. Overall very monotone and some muzak level backgrounds. Meh.

I've heard far worse hip hop. She has some decent flows and the beats are fine. Not a new favorite, though.

The tracks that leaned more towards the hip hop side I think we're great. The straight up rap wasn't doing much for me. Some great lines here and there but there were definitely a couple songs I wanted to skip.

Even for a shorter runtime this LP can't hold enough interest to be more than background music. Occasionally a memorable bar or beat will slip through, but Simz' doesn't put up nearly enough on the production or lyricism front to warrant a re-listen.
Just... give me the music and cut out ALL the vocals.

I've never heard of Little Sim. All of the music was new to me. This album was not for me. Some okay rhythms, but the content of the lyrics makes this a definite "nope"

The Bad: Till you find out that it’s an acronym… The Ugly: Which stands for Grandma Rapes Everyone’s Yolk… I think that there was 1 song which, for a second, made me actually pay attention… then this forced monologue of big words meaning small things popped being spat out too fast made me lose interest. At my age, its embarrassing to listen to. Its so cringey. Its not that its bad, its that its terrible. The quality is up to yourself, but for me, some of the biggest albums of all time arent on this list and this is little simz.

Utter crap
Not much of a GREY area here. The album is a crap one thanks to the ribbity ribbit kiddiwink rap vocals. Little Simz seems to be the kid bride of Dizzee Rascal except if he was the princess and she was the frog. Not what I would say is belonging to an 'essential albums list' or even a 'best of modern day hip hop collection', her voice is better suited to a Cheestrings Attack-A-Snak advert.

I know this is only day 81 of this challenge but this was by far the least enjoyable thing that I have been served up so far. It even made me hate a British accent. I couldn't wait to hit the 1 minute mark of each song so I could skip past it. Just a horrible miserable anxiety inducing 10 minutes.

Rap. This was a style of rap I don’t really like, where most of the lyrics are said in a rapid fire, nonstop way that doesn’t really give any breaks. Maybe it’s just me but I have a hard time hearing the words, and in rap where increased attention is given on the clever rhymes and wordplay, I really don’t like that.

I wish I didn't have to rate all of these modern inclusions so low, but this album has nothing going on. It's musically uninteresting, and it veers into being obnoxious a couple of times. Never been a hip-hop fan, honestly.

I just can't relate to the lyrics. I also can't get into to the repetitiveness. It's not like EDM where the repetitiveness has a purpose. Just don't dig it.

It's not really my genre. Didn't really get it. I like to swear as much as the next man but there was too much in this album. There is definitely no grey area here for me it's a no thank you.

Some songs sound like straight up rants. What an annoying rapper. I didn't care for most of the samples/instrumentation. There is some decent singing, but not enough to make a difference. Flowers was definitely the best song. Must be because Michael Kiwanuka is on it.

I suppose you should study the lyrics to make any sense of this. She can rap - that's no question - and she has a great sense for rhythm and putting words to rhythm. But for me there is nothing in the music.

It's something when EVERY song has the explicit filter. Guess the kids aren't listening to this then. Fun party game. Switch on the lyrics on your music app of choice and try to read the lyrics faster than she sings/raps them. You'll look like you've got Tourettes. Make it a drinking game, you'll be sozzled before the third song.

Absolutely not for me. Before giving up on it, I spotted that Michael Kiwanuka appears on the last track, so I stuck with it. So much anger in the album, then we arrived at that final track and the gloriously soulful vocal of Kiwanuka. The world was so much better for just dialling down the hatred. A glimpse of what Ms Simz is capable of producing when she takes a more R&B path. Off with that rubbish…I’m off to indulge in Kiwanukas eponymously titled album.

"Selfish" has a nice groove. "Venom" and "101fm" stand out with style. My opinion is that the poor quality and childlike perspective of the lyrics would place this album far outside of the top 1001. This one makes me question the qualifications of the panel of music critics who selected these albums, especially since the selections were "intended to bring attention to gifted songwriters."
