Reviews (page 5 of 10)

I definitely liked it. I'm not quite The Dude about it. But it's a lesser work than Hotel California and struggles to find its own identity (which I suppose is pretty normal for a debut album). Fav tracks: Witchy Woman, Take the Devil,

Not a big fan of this band. I really only love two songs of theirs — I Can’t Tell You Why, with a lovely vocal from Timothy B. Schmidt, and Already Gone, a rocker that boogies/swings with great three man guitar work. I bought this album at the same time with another of this ilk in 1972 (Poco, Jackson Browne solo album?). It’s decent enough, and Take it Easy is probably my 3rd favorite track of theirs.

It’s funny how much this band is universally despised in the rock critic world (not you mention by the Dude). See Christgau for good/ eloquent explanations why. By god, they did write some catchy country-rock jingles, though. 4 stars for the tunes here, 2 stars for the baggage liking this band carries.

Thought this might be a 4 star based off the singles alone but I’m not sure - will revisit!

My parents would turn to The Eagles 1976 best of release for their dinner parties. It was a compilation of their 1971-1975 hits which seems kinda strange but it did coincidentally open with the same two tracks. I suppose I have a soft spot for the Eagles because of those memories, it was comforting background music when my parents had friends over and those friends would bring their kids. My Brother and I would hang out with their kids as the adults drank until SNL came on. Take it Easy is still a great track but overall this album is a bit bland. It’s fine though. 3 stars

With the exception of "Take it Easy" (Even though Jackson Browne and I don't always see eye to eye, I generally enjoy this songwriting chops). I can hear why their country rock might appeal to others, but I don't enjoy HOTEL CALIFORNIA (nor Linda Ronstadt for that matter), so there was little chance I was going to dig this. I prefer the solo careers of everyone in The Eagles, especially Don Henley, to the work that they did together. Favorites: "Take it Easy", and occasionally I can bear "Witchy Woman"

I wanted this to be amazing but it was mid

The Eagles are one of those classic rock bands that I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, they were cool to listen to in high school, and are sort of iconic. Yet, on the other hand, they are really pretty cheesy. I’ve always liked Don Henley’s voice, but not so much Glenn Frye. And this dichotomy of like/don’t really like, is kinda how I feel about this record. Take it Easy, and Peaceful Easy Feeling are really great listens, but Chug All Night is kind of a piece of shit.

It’s Father’s Day weekend here in the UK, so boom! Have some Eagles! I enjoyed this probably more than I should have to be fair, but maybe it’s just because it is #dadrock weekend!

Light 3,5

This is just baseline classic rock. Really hard to have strong feelings one way or the other on it for me. 6/10

Not a big Eagles fan but who doesn’t know Hotel California. Got to be one of the most famous rock/pop songs ever. I also recently discovered their album Long Road Out Of Eden having bought it cheap on a punt but was really impressed by the guitar solos particularly the title track. So I was very receptive to giving this a listen and hopefully like Eden learn something new. Unfortunately I didn’t. Their Country roots and influence spoilt it for me. Inoffensive enough but nothing here to suggest that they were capable of the massive albums they were yet to make. If I knew my Eagles history I guess that the transformation from Country came in later albums. So this is only of interest to the most committed Eagles aficionado. 3/5 15/6/26

A few good tracks here, a taste of better things to come

No está mal, take it easy, country music Para la Carretera

Good variety

Take it easy is great and there's a couple other cool songs here but mostly pretty boring

70s rock. Country rock. Very middle of the road.

A little more natural, grounded sounding Eagles. Not as many hefty electric guitar solos or suspenseful ballads, just simplistic country and rock sounds sharpened into pop structures. That being said, this thing doesn’t retain its edge for long. Maybe this was during a time when the eagles were growing tired of their more acoustic, country sound, but some of this seems intentionally lethargic. “Most Of Us Are Sad” and “Train Leaves Here This Morning” being the prime suspects. “Early Bird” had an awesome stylistic changeup. The banjo, the song subject, the unique vocals - needed some more of that. It feels like an actually convicted track bunched between a lot of songs that meddle around a bit too much. 3/5 “Desperado” would’ve saved this, but that was on the album that follows this one.

oh boy i'll leave a quote from the dude here in the comment. everyone will think I am so funny and smart for doing this. Even the other 100 guys that did the same. Internet Fame here I come!

I hate the fuckin eagles man. In all seriousness it’s cheesy but not that bad.

It’s funny that country and rap are really two sides of the same coin, where authenticity matters so much but ironically almost everything is written by someone else. Anyhow, fuck the Eagles.

Eaglesin debyyttilevy tarjoaa kivaa ja rentoa country rockia. En lukeudu bändin vihaajiin, vaikka olenkin nähnyt The Big Lebowskin. Kaksi ensimmäistä biisiä olivat parhaat.

Listened Before? N This is really good considering the time period. Nice rock/country album with some overplayed classics too. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Chug All Night

The Eagles are played ad nauseam on classic rock stations for a reason. They’re good. Songs are well written, they can sing, harmonize, excellent musicians, etc. It’s nice to listen to their songs that don’t make the constant corporate oldies churn, such as “Nightingale” and “Train Leaves Here This Morning.” “Most of Us Are Sad” isn’t my thing, but it’s well crafted. I could have done without the chirping on “Earlybird.” Overall, a solid an album.

Sind paar nice Klassiker dabei, kann man mal anmachen - aber auch einige Songs die dann eher lahm sind.

This ain’t no Hotel California…

The safest rock n roll bet. The banker

Pretty run of the mill stuff but an enjoyable listen nonetheless

The Eagles are such an "I guess this is successful" band. It sounds fine and tight and I can get why people want to listen to it but it doesn't sound like there's much behind any of it. This is a solid debut album and I understand how they took off.

Take it easy is a solid song. Chug All Night had me so upset on first listen that I put off listening to the rest of the album for 12 hours. 24 hours later on a re-listen I still hate it. The rest of the album has some songs that could even grow on me given time. Like Take the Devil. Anyway I probably won't find the time.

I honestly enjoyed this more than I thought that I would. I knew it would be nostalgic because my late, beloved Dad was a huge fan of Dad/Classic rock including the Eagles. I had never heard the song, Train Leaves Here This Morning, and I thought it was really sweet. I'm under no illusion that the Eagles are some amazingly complex musicians but this album is better than a lot of the absolute trash that made it onto this list, haha! PS- everyone already made The Big Lebowski quote joke, try harder.

Love me some Eagles, very solid album.

Klassískt rokk. Reyndar lítið sem að situr eftir.

I've only heard Take It Easy, Witchy Woman, and Peaceful Easy Feeling before. They're all great. So now I can listen to the rest ... and they're all crap. I guess that's why I haven't heard them before. Well maybe they're not crap. They're safe and boring and a few are mildly annoying. 3.5

A nice album to listen to. Witchy woman and take it easy were standouts. Some of the songs did sound quite samey to me personally. Can definitely tell this is a debut studio album.

Good overall

dad type music. i like 👍

The album is okay. I listened to some of it when I was younger. But it never really got me excited, and it still doesn't. 3/6

I know a lot of people here are saying they don't like Eagles, but it's fine. Pretty generic to me, but I don't mind it too much.

The Eagles are definitely a singles band. Their hits are by far their best songs. The other songs are decent but nothing noteworthy

Glenn Frey: "We just didn't want to make another limp-wristed L.A. country-rock record." Oops! Need some Joe Walsh up in this heezy!

Probably would be more stars if they wouldn't have been so overplayed throughout my childhood.

I actually love the eagles but some of these songs were just a bit boring I guess. However, take it easy and peaceful easy feeling deserve their 4 stars cause they’re amazing

Unlike the Dude, I don't hate the Eagles. But radio has sooooo overplayed their songs -- including three from this album -- so that now it pains me to listen to them anymore.

This album was grand. Not too long and a few good songs to nod one's head to. But nothing I'll remember or that you HAVE TO HEAR. 12 of my last 13 albums including this, have been 3 stars. Is this what I am destined to - a lifetime of mediocre rock, pop and hip hop? Testing my patience, this list is.

a lot of banjo. easy feelin. dad vibes. but i respect it

When to listen: Chilling at a BBQ. I was excited to hear this full album because songs 1 and 2 are total bangers, but the rest just fell flat for me. The Eagles are getting a lot of flack on here, I don't think they're as bad as the rest of y'all, but there was a significant drop in interest post Witchy Woman

goed ma beetje saai

The singles are great songs, but the rest of the album is pretty weak.

Its a historical album that exemplifies the feeling of being in an american biker documentary. Its not bad perse but not good. Its a style love it or hate it.

It is very much an album from the 70s. It also really defines how rock was back in those days, with much more influences still from blues than today. I feel like more than anything it gives the spirit of a certain time, in that it is an interesting and cool album to have listened to.

Highlights: Take It Easy, Witchy Woman, Peaceful Easy Feeling and Tryin’. 3.8

the eagles

A nice, chilled country album. Nothing special and not as good as expected from such a well-known band. But nice nonetheless.

Kinda lost me with Chug All Night, lol. Some of these lyrics are pretty hilarious. Goes down easy but cannot relate to it overall!

Рок

It’s the Eagles!

I, too, have seen The Big Lebowski. The Eagles are okay.

no me volo la cabeza, un par de temas safables

Comfortable relaxing country mediocrity. These guys did Hotel California?

This is a pretty ok album. Some songs are better than others and the hits are the hits for a reason. I never understand the hate the eagles get other than over exposure.

Some of these tracks are timeless and I wouldn’t skip, but I can’t lie they tend to “Take It Easy” a bit too much, leaving this album feeling somewhat lackluster. I keep wanting them to dial it up a bit more but they never do, both in volume and tempo. Maybe I’m just not used to it, but they have the sound of a great rock band with none of the energy. Disappointed!

This was alright

I kinda hate the Eagles. That said, on the whole this was better than I thought it was gonna be. Or less offensively boring. Also Take It Easy and Witchy Woman kinda a great start but Chug It All Night is so bad... I just can't with the Eagles.

Eagles offers solid songwriting and laid-back vibes, but lacks standout moments, making it feel pleasant yet somewhat forgettable across its full runtime.

Nada que destacar

Better than I expected honestly Take it eeeeeeasssyy

I was ready to hate this album. And I actually kind of liked it...what I really found myself enjoying was the deep cuts. Peaceful Easy Feeling, Take It Easy, Witchy Woman...I can do without those, easily. Off the second half of this album, Train Leaves Here This Morning is absolutely fantastic. It's about as pure country as they get, it's great. Take The Devil, awesome. Earlybird, after the stupid bird whistle in the beginning is also really good...that galloping banjo just grooves. The last song, Tryin? Slaps hard. I'm not sure if I'd come back to this album or not. Like I said, I was ready to hate it, but it's somewhere a 3 and a 4 for me.

Don't worry guys, other users have covered the Big Lebowski reference. This is a good album, sorry you're all irony poisioned. Get well soon! Really enjoyed being out on my bike in the sunshine listening to this.

Background Music for me.

Батя-рок. Понравились некоторые минорные номера.

Liked it. Werry chill.

My grandfather had this album on cassette and would let me bring the player down to the pool in my childhood - lots of emotion and nostalgia hearing many of these songs first time in almost 50 years. This is a solid album for the time, well produced, sounds great on APMs. I never noticed the repetition before - Take It Easy and Peaceful Easy Feeling are essentially the same song. 3/5

Barbershop-quartet-rock.

Didn’t listne

An easy album. Easy to listen, easy to like. Not much more, nor less. I like witchy woman, I wish I liked more songs from it, but it is not the case.

Opens with a classic then tails off

first time listening to Eagles, i liked it, peaceful and nice music

Easy listening. Hotel California is the better album so fail to see why you would also include this. 3/5.

Origins of an extraordinary band, really country, and thus kinda strange to my latin ears, but still lovable.

Top Songs: Take It Easy Earlybird

Decent.

A jammy, twangy rock debut. I'm relieved I don't have to listen to dreary Hotel California on this album.

Ощущение от альбома как будто едем с батей на ранчо

Some enjoyable tracks and a few that I disliked.

Country rock, folk rock, rock and roll.

Over here on the same part of the Atlantic Ocean, Eagles are rightfully known as a One Hit Wonders act. Bewildering then that they have one of the biggest selling albums of all time. But we shall be fair; I have never listened to any of their albums and I have hopes that this has some bangers on it. It doesn't. It does have Most Of Us Are Sad which, aside from being one of the worst song titles in history, is quite good. And so, this is as average a rock album as it is possible to be. Certainly not bad enough for me to be like one of the hundred or so super intelligent reviewers here and drop a quote from The Big Lebowski, which stopped being funny after the second guy mentioned it.

There's too much talent here for me to rate this as less than 3, but too much schmaltz to rate it any higher.

The album starts with some of the best two songs of the 70's. Then fizzles with a bunch of filler until the song Best of My Love. Friends of mine loved this record. I couldn't get into it after the first songs. The Eagles would have so many better albums.

Liked the 2nd half of the album far more than the first. Maybe 3.5 overall

Real good coke infused laurel canyon rock n' roll. The songs are good, joe walsh's writing is excellent. But the end product ends up a little lackluster and almost forced. This album fairs with me much more than Hotel California which adds back some lost merit.

I enjoyed listening to this album. I was very familiar with the big singles, Take it Easy, Witchy Woman, and Peaceful Easy Feeling. They are all great tracks. I enjoyed Earlybird as well. This has a quintessentially 1970’s soft rock sound that I really like.

If you’re going to put an Eagles album on the list, this not the one I would include. Hotel California, The Long Run, Hell Freezes Over, etc. are all better albums. Other than the three hits, every other song was pleasant but not really memorable, with the exception of Most of Us Are Sad, which I really liked.

Take it Easy: country rock ci piace. Witchy woman pericolo sessismo ma mi piacciono i cori e le chitarre Chug all night boh sì erano gli anni 70 ok 4 TWA TWANG TWA TWANG letteralmente most of us are sad 5 meglio 6-7 ok 8 cip 9 il ritorno delle chitarre classiche 10 chiusura coerente

The most 3 album ever made.

Fredag: Take It Easy Lørdag: Chug All Night Søndag: Most of Us Are Sad Er Eagles-fan, men syns ikke det er her de fant formen.

Country rock but more palatable, one very good in take it easy but the rest is kind of generic but inoffensive to listen to.

A big part of me wants to rate this as a 2 but it's got its moments. And a lot of stinkers! If nothing else this is strong proof that The Eagles Are Not Yacht Rock.

I liked this quite a bit, but a lot of people seem to be overly harsh on them. It's easy listening rock but chill, with some good riffs. A little amateur but impressive for a debut at the time. Decent country-coded music for a change.

Man these guys are just boring aren’t they? Theres some good stuff on here, but its just hidden behind so much GenericCountry/SoftRock.mp3 that its hard to really get into it. Take The Devil is my highlight off this album, is not as soft-rocky as a lot of other Eagles songs, and it was one of the few that grabbed my attention on this album. Tryin’ was also pretty fun too.

Fine dad rock

yeah, the lebowski joke (he kinda right) Today´s bird: Bald Eagle

Pretty forgettable

Eagles haters obv won't like it but this is total center lane California rock. The three hits are great, but the b sides don't really stand out. Always felt like the eagles were a greatest hits type band.

In my mind, Eagles kind of stand for everything I hate....overly indulgent, excessive music, California guys pretending to be country, ushering in the age of expensive concerts, and now in old age, they are the kinds of grumpy old boomers who have whole teams to make sure no one uses their songs on YouTube. Don Henley and Glenn Frey just seem like huge assholes who sing about easy, simple, peaceful life and I have a mental block about their music. I'd just rather listen to Gram Parsons or Led Zeppelin than try to listen to a pale imitation of a mix of them. Now, having said all that, they are very talented and there is some really fun rockin' music on here ("Witchy Woman"), some really nice harmonies ("Peaceful Easy Feeling"), and some great center-lane "country rock" songs ("Take It Easy", "Nightingale", both written by Jackson Browne). Some of it is as dull and unmemorable as I expected ("Most Of Us Are Sad"). Basically, I am Squidward and Eagles are the krabby patty. When no one else is around, I like at least some of this, but this album kind of confirms my belief that they are just up to par with their contemporaries in my mind.

Ok 3/5

Benign Vanilla American Rock

Pretty much what I expected.

Даже не знаю, что сказать. Earlybird очень понравилась, остальное не запомнил. Надо послушать снова.

Favourite Songs: Witchy Woman

I prefer hard rock. 6.5/10 Best song - Witchy Woman

Not a bad listen, but this is not my favorite Eagles album. Songs like Take it Easy, Witchy Woman, and Peaceful Easy Feeling are familiar, and Nightingale and Early Bird were nice discoveries during this listen. Chug All Night and Most of Us Are Sad were low points for me. Nice harmonies, but lacking some of the punch that makes subsequent albums sound better.

Helt greit, forglemmelig bakgrunnsmusikk

How the hell did he end up in Winslow, Arizona of all places

Not as good as I had expected. 3 really good songs and the rest is kinda meh to me

Take it easy: mediocre and boring witchy woman: very good chug all night: like the guitar solo at the end but the rest kinda boring Most of us are sad: yeah liking this one a lot Nightingale: I just don’t know Train leaves here tomorrow: good Production overall good.

1/10 bekannt 6,5/10 Beste Songs: take it easy, chug all night, witchy woman

Everyone making Lebowski jokes, but I like the eagles. But I don't think this album is their best

Maybe it's because I'm on holiday but I found this more palatable than the other Eagles album's we've had to listen to. The opening song, "Take It Easy" is a banger. It's gets more generic after that. Fine.

Easy Eagles… MOR at its best..

Op zich fijne liedjes, wel beetje tam en wat gelikt/Amerikaans voor mijn smaak. Prettige stem(men) om naar te luisteren, zou het zo als achtergrondmuziek nog eens opzetten

I’ve tried, I really have, to give this album a chance. It’s the Eagles. I’ve listened to it like 6 times in the last ~month. It’s boring and lifeless. I can’t not like Take It Easy but it feels like a stretch to even give this a 3.

I like the album cover (spelling "eagles" on an eagle, what more could one want) but he way the eagle is slightly off centre bothers me A LOT

I got Hotel California like a week ago, and now I've got their debut. The debut album was definitely a lot better in my opinion. "Hotel California" (the song) was a strong highlight of the same name album, but rest of was meh. Whilst the debut album seems a more steady overall in quality. I found the vocals and production a big step up in quality in the debut than the Hotel California album. Just a bit about some of the songs themselves, I thought the bird noises were in "Earlybird" was kind of annoying, and I thought the closing section in "Take the Devil" was quite sweet. Highlight Song/s: "Take It Easy" and "Take the Devil"

Sometimes Eagles are just birds ig

Good debut album for what eventually became a great group. Part of the Laurel Canyon sound, this one didn't quite kick open the door (a la CSN) but it did open the door and allow a peek of things to come. Take It Easy is a solid Opening Track. We actually visited Winslow. I can still see the look on that poor teenager's face in that Winslow AZ ice cream shoppe... Peaceful Easy Feeling one of their all-time best. The rest were pretty mid, but again this was their debut. Probably 3 1/2, but not a 4. Also disappointed to learn that The Long Run is not on this list. Add this to my list of disappointments about this poll.

Kind of just a mid album, don’t really vibe with it and I can’t find any major flaws in it so I can’t give it under a 3 and I certainly don’t want to give it over a 3. I only know like 1 song by the Eagles and it wasn’t even on this album, so nothing exciting on this album.

Why does every Eagles song sound exactly the same? Why is every song by the Eagles a love or heartbreak song? I mean, it can’t be a coincidence that their best selling album is their greatest hits. And for every memorable track, you have at least two that doesn’t move me in any way That said, it was good, but not great. And it was definitely a hit or miss type of record, with some songs right up my alley and others just so dreadfully boring. They have such a recognisable sound. The Eagles put you into a very sombre mood, shame the sombre mood is always the same thing. Did I need to hear this before I die? No, but I can see why it was put on the list.

This was pretty forgettable besides the songs that were released as singles and Take the Devil. It was by no means bad just forgettable.

Nothing notable.

A familiar sound and album I wanted to like more than I did. Started strong with the well known “Take It Easy’, but felt like it shifted pretty quickly/unexpectedly to ‘Most of Us Are Sad’ and I didn’t really get back on board til ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’. ‘Earlybird’ also rubbed me the wrong way each time it came on with the obnoxious tweeting sounds. Ultimately I appreciated the listen and the band, but don’t plan to revisit again.

Zone out a fair bit. Listened to the 2013 remastered version cuz that's what spotify opened to. It's aight. Fair amount of instrumental parts

Some good familiar tunes, but a lot was pretty boring. 3

I am gonna be so honest, I completely tuned out the album after the first two songs but. Eagle!

this was fun and short yippee! no hotel california though

The Nickleback of the 70s

Really liked the first half, but it got a little repetitive

Listened to this one through while walking over to a friend's apartment for a Super Bowl party. Classic all-American experience, I suppose. Had a much better time doing that than actually watching the football game but as anyone else who tuned in this year can probably attest that's not necessarily saying a whole lot. Still: it was fine; it was nice enough; boredom I get, but I don't really understand how these guys inspire hatred in anybody (I mean, at least musically speaking, anyway)

man eagles are such a vibe.. this track melted my head like butter, which MEANSS—> largely forgettable BUUUUT fun to listen to every second of the shit. coulda been higher if the vocals werent so shit

Eagles albums just drift past me. Pleasant but no surprises

Pulling in different directions, but some fine harmonies and a couple of classics.

Eagles gets a solid 3 from me and I enjoyed it slightly more than their more popular one we’ve already had. I don’t like the hard rock elements but really enjoy the more melodic songs quite a lot

And now yippee 70s rock!!! Yes!!! Just what I wanted!!! 70s fuckin rock yes! I've never heard anything like this before!! I need to hear this before I fuckin die. If this fuckass album doesn't fuckin do me in. Horrific line up recently. Like genuinely. There's nothing special about the way this sounds. It's just an album. What are we doing here?? I'm going home. It's fun it's rock it's 70s it's nothingburger. What tf is going on in this album. Mid Favourite: Witchy Woman Least favourite: Earlybird

The first half is better than the second half. Banger after banger in the beginning. Not my favourite Eagles record but it’s quite enjoyable. If anyone has 4 hours to give to see their documentary, it’s a great watch. It’s insane how talented each member in this band is. Happy I got to see them before Glenn Frey passed away.

Decent two catchy songs bookending rocky, country sounding stuff.

I know some of their hits and I’ve never listened to an actual album by them but this was a good listen. Once again it’s great to listen to music from this era as the recordings sound so warm. Even though I’ve heard that first track before I couldn’t believe there was a banjo on it! Those vocal harmonies sound great as well! In a way a lot of this sounds a bit like stock country rock but it is a solid album overall. Definitely looking forward to listening to some more albums by them.

This album is their first and has a slightly different band line-up than Hotel California which is also on this list - there's no Joe Walsh to add some edge to their guitar attack, but the songs are just fine anyway. The big thing that set them apart from other similar bands at the time are the multipart harmonies. Most people have heard their big hits from the compilation discs. All of the hits are pretty well spread out between all the albums, so unless you're a big fan of the band or enjoy the non-single album tracks, the greatest hits discs are probably all that you need. 2.5 stars, not as good as Hotel California.

Terceira tentativa de gostar deste disco. Para quem gosta de cantoria de rancho e blues rock sem expectativas por sons elaborados é uma boa dica. Não é meu caso.

Beyond the few hits, this was nothing especially special, but it passed by blessedly quickly, so it balances out to a nice 7/10.

Unfortunately I think the Eagles are a greatest hits band. This falls off significantly after the first two tracks (though I did enjoy the last two!)

The most plainly American 70s pop rock record I’ve ever heard. Time really hasn’t done it any favours, but I'm feeling like it's not entirely their fault in this case. Sure, the album all sounds a bit generic hearing it fresh today, but there are glimmers of experimentation here and there that still feel novel and charming, like the band's actually trying to bring something new to the rock scene -- no matter how silly those ideas may seem now (I'm looking at you, loud-ass tweety bird). Standouts: Witchy Woman • Most of Us Are Sad • Earlybird

6/10 - not a bad indie rock album, cold be from the 90s

I only thought they wrote hits. This shows that they do write boring songs too.

Standouts Take it Easy Witchy Woman Train Leaves Here This Morning Earlybird

Exactly what I'd listen to if I was an American trucker. I'm not an American, nor a trucker.

2.8/5 Some really good songs on this album but also just some average ones.

el interludio de Witchy Woman 10/10

Take it easy. Nice to put on in the car up to MA, but was with Lily and wasn’t listening to hard. I think I fell asleep at some point. Will listen again!

Well the opening track was the first thing in my mind when I saw this. Let’s have some jean wearing dad rock. Feels a little middle of the road and unimpactful. It knows what it is and does it well, but not such a big hit for me, personally. Think I get a little harsher with scoring as this challenge goes on. No time for “okay” 😂

This album seemed to be one of five that my dad had on 8-track, so it makes me think of road trips. It’s the embodiment of a classic rock album. On some days that’s good, but most of the time I’ll pass. 3⭐️

Decent...got a bit bored halfway through. 3/5

Its Eagles

It’s fine. About as spicy as mayonnaise.

3/5 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/eagles/eagles/ So inoffensive that it completely lost my attention quite soon after the banjo stopped. Nothing bad, nothing great. At the time it was probably quite cool? Now, not so much anymore.

true classic

Witchy feeling and take it easy are like 4.5 but too many 2.5-3.5 to be a 4

I find it hard to have strong feelings about this album. It’s pleasant, easy going and well produced, profoundly unsurprising and also therefore quite uninspiring. That is the 2026 view but it probably felt quite fresh and fun back in 1972. Commendable but maybe not recommendable - apart from an American road trip playlist maybe.

I have always rated Eagles for their smooth rock blend. Its a unique style. Annoyingly listening to their albums in full has taken the shine off it for me. Overly polished and actually most of their best songs are the minority. I prefer a little more grit and has a damp energy for the most part. I cant slam it as its easy going and well compiled album but knowing what they can do almost frustrates. It directs them into the mainstream fodder category for me.

Eagles were played a lot in my house growing up so I thought this might be like Born to Run where I vaguely recognized a part of most songs. I really only recognized the singles and after hearing the rest of the tracks I can see why.

Three songs take it from a 2 to a 3, and you know which ones they are.

Some good tunes but nothing amazing

This is a total trip through the best and worst of that 70s California sound. On one hand, you've got these impeccable vibes and vocal harmonies that are smooth as all hell, making hits like "Take It Easy" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" feel like the ultimate, polished country rock template. But man, the second you step away from the big singles, the whole thing starts to feel pretty boring... It's remarkably competent but lacks any real soul or grit, and I've found the Eagles are best in a Greatest Hits compilation listen.

It's an easy, feel-good listen for me. Nothing extraordinary or revolutionary, but it's alright. I tried to understand why so many people hate the Eagles, but I don't feel it. Also, I was born way after they were on the top of their career, so maybe that's why.

witchy woman fuckin BANGS other than that and earlybird.. ehh

Classic

Neither loved nor hated it, it was fine

Not terrible, but largely forgettable

Good start but the rest was just ok/middle of the road music.

Good opener, then they decided to take it easy

Pretty average 70s rock. Some good tunes and nice grooves. I think I prefer Hotel California over this. Eagles is pretty average, a bit on the forgettable side outside of the couple hits present. Goddamn bird sounds on "Earlybird" pissed me off. Standouts on this listen are "Take It Easy" "Nightingale" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling." A solid 3/5. I dont have anything against the Eagles like a lot of people seem to do.

hmm ja ene lied beter dan andere haha. eerste paar vond ik beetje saaiig, dus doe 3 sterren

After the first two songs I was very optimistic for the rest of the album, but it was disappointing. It's just so boring. So I think the lesson I've learned here is that the Eagles are fine in small increments, good even. However, any more than that and it all sounds like boring nothing noise. Three stars. (Favorite track: Take It Easy.)

It starts off strong with Take It Easy and has a few other good moments, like Peaceful Easy Feeling. But otherwise pretty bland.

This particular subgenre of rock (soft rock, I think?) is fine, but also a little boring. Is it listenable? Sure. Am I excited by it? Meh.

Not too bad. Had some nice ones. A few that stood out. Classic sound.

mi è piaciuto, però average bello niente di che

Un buon album country, nulla di eccezionale però ci sono alcuni pezzi degni di nota, ad esempio Most of Us Are Sad, molto molto bella

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Quite enjoyed the songs that I didn't know already. Especially the one about all the chugging.

Super solid

good vibe nothing crazy, some hits tho

Some hits and some ok songs. 3.5 stars

it was a pretty good album had some charm but overall just felt like a really safe standard rock album which definitely have their place but it just felt like it missed something. Good guitar and vocals and some good tracks such as "take it easy", "train leaves here this morning" and "early bird" maybe I need to listen to it more and eagles in general but personally I this album and even the band just don't really excite me or engage me much

Quite inoffensive but I'm not excited by it

Defs a classic but kinda boring to me. I know the story behind this album cover and it is a good one.

3 major classics here, the rest is filler. Not their best album but it was a preview of the greatness to come.

The singles are good, the rest is very meh. I just can't really get into The Eagles.

3.5 - Solid classic rock.

The non singles from this album (not on greatest hits v1) are all new to me. Glenn Frey makes this a tough listen and confirmed I’d rather hear a Jackson Browne version of the Eagles singing those songs. The rest of the album sounded like a band holding tryouts for writing and lead vocals. Solid but not special.

Did not mess with the first couple songs tbh After a while really started to enjoy the soundscape created. Not really the music I would think about listening too. Fav songs: Most of Us Are Sad - what a tune Overall it's cool 6/10

Nice at times but can't imagine ever listening to it again

I enjoyed this more than Hotel California. Part of that could be because the album states its thesis very clearly - Take It Easy, with the banjo, nice harmonies, laid back vibes. And the rest of the album follows that for the most part, with a track from left field, Most of Us Are Sad snuck in there, and ending with a song about Tryin' (though yeah, take it easy mostly).

This was infinity better than i expected partially because the last eagles album was SOOO BAD!!. This album generally wasn't as offensive as the last, but I wouldn't really want to listen again either.

Nice easy listening with some good tracks. Not much more than that. Favorite Tracks: Witchy Woman, Earlybird

Couple of good tracks, but a bit too country for my taste.

Good album, nothing crazy stood out to me but enjoyable to listen to!

High 3

kinda slow. songs lowkey all sound the same. decent album tho

Fav song: Witchy Women Least fav song: Peaceful Easy Feeling Overall ranking:2.5/5 -> Round up to 3 I quite liked this album but it got harder to listen to as the album went on, idk if its cuz its late and im tired or if its just bcs it was just a bit underwhelming compared to the first few songs?? Individual Song Rankings: Take it easy - "I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me" - I'm loving the guitar in the background and for once the music and vocals match🙏🙏🙏 3/5 Witchy Woman - "She got the moon in her eyes" Before the song starts, just know i have high expectations of this😛 I quite like this songg and the instrumentalss!!! 4/5 Chug all night - "High on a pleasure wheel; No devil ever cast a voodoo" - Loving the instrumentals at the start, but i fear the vocals don't seem to fit with it?? 2/5 Most of us are sad - Kind of mediocre compared to the other ones and like the potential this had??? None of the lyrics necessarily stand out to me. 2/5 Nightingale - "And let the floods return, we will prevail" - Nightingale was the superior house (No the fuck it was not, we sucked icl). I'm loving the musicc but idk what's going on 2.5/5 Train leaves here this morning - "Might have been that it was getting time to leave" 3/5 Take the Devil - "Oh, how could you be so blind?" This is such an experience with headphones, the intro kinda is weird like i cant hear anything except the beat in my right ear and idk how to feel abt it but i quite like the drums 2/5 Early bird - ".. Wil' wake one day; to find his life has gone" 2.5/5 Peaceful easy Feeling 2/5 Tryin' 2/5

I liked this, but thought I was going to love it

theres actually some really nice songs on this, train leave here this morning is great

It’s nothing groundbreaking but it’s good enough to not get bored. That said, Peaceful Easy Feeling remains one of my favourite songs ever.

Eagles are at their best when they harmonize and rock out, which is on full display in this record. That said it's a far cry from ground breaking music but it's okay

It's good... if you're driving for hours in a car. It doesn't mean it's bad, only means that when the trip ends, you will forget those musics and move on.

The Big Lebowski did a lot to harm the Eagles reputation, but it's honestly just fine. Background music for harmless alcoholics who don't like music but want something to be playing. Top-tier mid.

I was scared I would have to out myself again as a committed dad rock enjoyer but fortunately the middle of the album was a bit of a slog so I can just give this a 3. Classic singles but theres a lot of detritus as well.

easy listening, dad fishing music

Had fun listening to this! Nothing particularly outstanding or jarring. Just the Eagles baby Song added to playlist: - Take It Easy

not usually my style of rocked but enjoyed

algunas me gustan, pero no sorprenden mucho

Vibe is oke, maar ik herinner me echt niks meer. 6/10 ofzo

I like a few things from this record, but overall it's very weak. The only plus is that you can listen to it in the background without any strain.

I think the first 2 tracks are the strongest, but on the whole the album is pretty easy listening. I'm gonna give it a 3, but that could go up if i revisit.

Great Songs: Take It Easy, Take the Devil, Peaceful Easy Feeling Good Songs: Witchy Woman, Train Leaves Here This Morning, Earlybird, Tryin' Mid Songs: Chug All Night, Most of Us Are Sad, Nightingale Bad Songs:

Solid 3. Some good tracks for sure.

A couple tracks that everybody ever probably knows, a couple dogs, and some musically fine but ultimately forgettable filler. Not gonna knock The Eagles too much for this one, but the boomer's hero worship of these guys has poisoned the well somewhat for this listener, and best I can do is give this one a passing grade.

The pinnacle of old white man music, an absolute classic

Honestly don’t know much about the eagles, so I’m going into this essentially blind. Take it easy- 6/10 easily mid Witchy woman- 5.5/10 not much to say really Chug all night- 6.5/10 best one so far Most of us are sad- 5/10 Nightingale- 7/10 first banger (added to playlist) Train leaves here this morning- 7/10 also a banger that’s been added to the playlist Take the devil- 6/10 not a bad song at all, just not for me Early bird- 6.5/10 pretty good and unique song, not sure if it’ll make it into the playlist though Peaceful easy feeling- 7/10 I like this Tryin’- 7/10 also a banger ( prob my favourite) Tryin and nightingale are defo bangers, but apart from that just a mediocre album for me. I can’t deny it’s good music, perhaps just not for me.

That was another middle-of-the-road album. Decent, but nothing special.

Seventies as hell. This one is kinda par for the course. I've been watching a lot of '70's movies recently so this is nice to hear what was gaining popularity in the time. Other than that pretty boilerplate. The thing is it isn't bad, but 50 years on, it has been duplicated, replicated, mimicked, mocked, surpassed. Dare I say left behind. I say all this to point out that "Witchy Woman" still kicks ass. I can't hear the second half of that song as anything but regressive, but sometimes that's what ya want.

Absolutely meh. 3.5⭐

This album is easily a classic. Not necessarily an album I would choose to listen to on just any day, but a solid debut album and objectively good. My favorite track was probably Take It Easy. I love the roadtrip vibes of it. Definitely not my favorite Eagles album, but a solid contender.

"Take It Easy" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" are really the only two tracks that stand out to me. Have never liked "Witchy Woman".

”Take the devil” hade varit 10 ggr bättre med hans lena stämma vid micken.

Gubbrock! Lustig start, läppar alltid åt "Well I'm a-running down the road trying to loosen my load I've got seven women on my mind." Rätt nice men inte mer. Ganska svag trea.

* Lots of country vibes 3,5/5

this album reminds me of easy rider. it’s def giving motorcycle music. the rest of the album was pretty chill. nothing remarkable but it’s easy to listen to. it’s def an album I’d listen to outside or if im driving with the windows down. i noticed they had a few encouraging messages which was nice. id prob give 2 1/2 stars but i cant

The upbeat tracks standout the most but once they slow that tempo down it’s a snooze fest.

generally love the eagles but the singles are definitely the best part of this debut album fav : take it easy, witchy woman, nightingale

Oh, Witch-AY Woman.

Chug All Night stood out. Go through these reviews and try not to find a Big Lebowski quote on the f'n Eagles, man. 3/5

Mysigt, men inte så mycket mer än det :p Soft-rock är liksom lite mesigt för mig, och inte tillräckligt många snygga stämmor :')

The hits hit, but the misses also miss.

Overall: 6/10 I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man. Not really, but it's impossible to listen to them without thinking about The Dude. Although, this is my first time listening to a full album instead of the three songs I always knew and had a slight fondness for. What I've learned from listening to this album is that I'm mostly indifferent to it. If this is the best they have to offer then I can understand why The Dude would loathe them so much. I like the southern feel of the album but it doesn't have the power of Lynyrd Skynyrd or the epicness of the Allman Brothers Band. The harmonies are nice but the vocals don't seem to have a lot of power overall. I'll probably add a couple of those songs to some playlists but overall it's just "okay". Fav Song: Train Leaves Here This Morning

Fairly generic dad rock. Not great, not terrible

It's mid.

Not my favorite of the Eagles. Started strong with the first two songs but then followed by 5 mediocre songs.

Solid output. Not as many stand out tracks but still a decent listen. Great debut.

Not the greatest Eagles album; the other I rated higher I am sure.

take it easy is insane and then it kinda fizzles

I love The Eagles, but this album isn’t it. Outside of the three hits off of this, there isn’t much here that I enjoyed. It’s their debut album and they haven’t quite found their footing yet, and it’s criminal that Don Henley is only singing two songs.

A classic rock album. A few of the tracks are timeless and the rest of the album is easy listening. The Eagles do a wonderful job of sounding like a band versus one guy singing while everyone else plays instruments. A variety of instruments and varying vocals give the tracks depth while the descriptive lyrics help draw a mental image of whatever it is they are singing about. Excellent use of 36 mins

Congrats to everyone here. You've all seen The Big Lebowski. And based on that movie alone you hate the Eagles. Man. However, this freshman album from a band that would only get better and bigger who were only motivated to do this came from Linda Rondstadt herself deserves a real listen. Listent to what the status of 'Country Rock' was and where it would go. Now listen to how these mere novices arranged it to put out three massive singles that are still relevant today. 3/5

Good listen but no favorite

Not super interesting. The hits are all pretty great though. And there was one song ("Nightingale") which sounded exactly like a Kiss song lol

Take it Easy is a brilliant pop/rock song--hear that banjo! But I feel the dominant vibe veers too much toward easy listening. I'd have preferred the more rocky Chug and am skipping over a lot of the rest except Peaceful Easy Feeling. Listen to the great guitar in Tryin', not the sophomoric lyrics.

Bit hit and miss - very easy but mostly innocuous.

It's like white bread; good, but not something I'd ever call my favorite.

This band is overrated & bland. I'm comfounded as to how they are so revered to fans & critics. 3 NOW FOR WHAT YOU REALLY WANT!!! A REVIEW OF THE BIG LEBOWSKI!!! The Coen Brothers have done it again with Jeff Bridges owning the role of constantly stoned, Creedence Lovin' slacker, Jeffery "The Dude" Lebowski. When the Dude's rug gets stolen by Nillists in a case of misidentification because another Jeffery Lebowski, a multimillionaire, is in hot water when his hot wife is kidnapped & put up for ransom. His butler (Phillip Seymour Hoffman kills this small but important role) enlists the Dude to help with the dropoff. When his bowling buddies Walter & Donny are skeptical of this ransom & Walter attempts to double cross Lebowski by switching the cash with his dirty socks. The whole thing gets botched & the Dude has to figure out what the fuck is going on. This insanely quotable, often times weird mystery is one of my favorite movies. You have John Goldman steal the movie with Walter, the weird, delusional Vietnam vet & the delightful Steve Buscemi as Donny I Am The Walrus. There's so many memorable scenes in this movie. One that involves the Eagles. After getting into a cab with the Eagles playing on the radio the Dude laments "I've had a rough night. I HATE THE FUCKING EAGLES" The cab driver promptly drags him outta his cab in a case of extreme overreaction. There's also the infamous scene which has the funniest TV edit in history. When Walter confronts the teen, Larry, with questions about where the ransom money is. He becomes frustrated with his interrogation, so he goes outside & begins to smash the kid's brand new car screaming "This is What happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass." Although it ain't the kid's car. In the TV edit he screams: THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS!! FEED SCRAMBLED EGGS TO A STRANGER!! It's just such a ridiculous way of censorship. Love the movie. The Dude is totally validated in his hatred of the Eagles. Joe Walsh is cool though but not on this record. Boo.

I’ll always have a soft spot for “Witchy Woman,” but aside from that, I didn’t think this album was that great. Not bad, just disappointingly mediocre. Some tracks sounded a bit like a less-good Neil Young. Favorites: Witchy Woman; Most Of Us Are Sad

A bit too much Country Rock for my taste, but endurable. Besides Take It Easy., there's nothing really outstanding on this album.

Like the Dude said: "I fucking hate the Eagles, man". Well I don't however this was quite a boring experience, enjoyable, but boring nevertheless. I guess this is just the middle of the road for me, not to terrible but nothing to write home about. Probably 3 stars.

A polished and easygoing debut that helped define the California country-rock sound of the 1970s. 𝘛𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘐𝘵 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘺 is the clear standout — one of those songs everyone has heard at least once, even if they didn’t realize it was by the Eagles. The rest of the album is pleasant and well-played, but it rarely rises above that; everything sounds smooth and competent, yet nothing truly surprises.

The singles from this album are amazing, iconic even….the rest not so much (or at all really). Earlybirds in particular was very odd and I didn’t care for that one at all. Overall decent, but not great.

Classicly 70s rock, it was OK but not overly exciting

One’s operative theory of the Eagles is that they were hugely lucky, “happened to be in right time at right place” recipients of a force, a vibe, that was so large and momentous that it could elevate such middlebrow blandness to stardom, when the Byrds, Burritos, etc. etc. were more deserving of the fame, of the fortune. They are something like CSNY-light, in other words. Not that this terrible – the bookended songs are easy to like, especially, as peaceful (and easy) listening music for taking it easy times. There are also the cooing harmonies (see CSNY-light) on “Most of Us Are Sad.” But there’s also plenty of vintage bad and greasy-licked 70s party rock – “Chug All Night,” which is Thin Lizzy with country choruses, basically, and the dreck-y, middlin, tight-t-shirt, winged hair and moustaciohed rock of “Tryin.’” Never truly transcends blandness and rounding down as they’ve always seemed pretty outrageously overrated.

It started off promisingly and I thought that it was going to be really good. It was quite good. At least that effing song wasn't here and it's cool to have listened to so many Eagles songs without hearing that one. It's got a groove. 3 or 4? 3, I guess. But a close 4

Its a decent album. Country pop rock but well writen and the songs all compliment each other making sense which although not for me I can say its a great album. Maybe a bit too repetitiveish but probably their best album Ive heard so far

Inoffensive airport rock

The hits are great, but a bit dull after that.

I liked them better when Linda Ronstadt was the lead singer.

This was pleasant enough. But let me use this space to insist you track down the 2013 documentary, "History of the Eagles." *chef's kiss*

Some classics, but it's the Eagles - for good or ill.

Blah. Better than hotel California I guess.

*Insert quote from The Big Lebowski about hating the fucking Eagles here* Its fine. Nothing really to write home about. "Take it Easy" is a bop.

Not much to say really just kinda average

Back in the mid 90s, I worked at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), which was an apitheater in upstate NY (really great place). The Eagles came one summer and I distinctly remember them being the first act ever to charge over $100 for tickets inside the ampitheater (seats on the lawn were less). Then they proclaimed they wouldn't take the stage until all of the ampitheater seats were filled, even though it was their fault that they weren't since they were charging so much. The SPAC staff was literally going to people on the lawn to give them tickets to go into the ampitheater seating. So while they might be a really talented band, it's safe to say their egos bother me. What follows might have a bit of bias, no doubt, as a result. This album is fine. Cool that they had a couple of big hits from this record, especially when they were just starting out. But it's far from a mindblowing album, especially when you hear songs like Chug All Night or others that are mediocre at best. The fact is they have written a ton of great songs over the years (Hotel California, I Can't Tell You Why, Life In The Fast Lane), but this album contains only a few songs that are worth listening to, and really only one that is great in Take It Easy. It might have been a vital album after the challenging 60s, but it doesn't sound like it has stood the test of time for me. Pretty average.

I got a peaceful easy feeling listening to this album!

Eagles for beagles.

Surprisingly hella chill

Gullbylgjan.
