Reviews (page 9 of 13)

Great album.

Strong 7 - lovely harmonies, Young adds a lot of texture to the album with his guitar skillz

I actually don’t love their harmonies. Too aggressive at times. The Young tracks are the standouts along with Teach Your Children and Our House. For every great track there is a total bummer for me

Only really enjoyed the Neil tracks, the others were forgettable.

Meh it’s overrated. Neil Young is the best.

Deja vu indeed

hippie national anthem

Some classics here. Enjoyable bops

L’équivalent de Steele dan en country/folk C’est quand même doux et joli, je préfère la fin de l’album je crois 7/10 du coup

honestly its pretty good even though i dont like this type of music, impressive

Our House really jumps out of this album. It was otherwise fine, a nice desk listen

It’s got some highlights (mainly “Our House”), but most of this album is pretty boring. Take off “Our House” and it’s probably a 2.

Those harmonies sure do hit. Although this is a group project, Neil sure stands out as the A student.

Our house is a classic , the rest of the album I am not sure on tbh

det er helt ok. kanskje litt kjedelig. country girl var nice

꽤 괜찮은 노래였다. 특별히 좋은 노래는 없었지만 전체적인 곡의 분위기가 좋았던 것 같다. It was a pretty good song. There were no particularly good songs, but I think the overall atmosphere of the song was good.

Country/soft folk rock. There's really not much more to say... Deja Vu has a more proggy feel to it, which I like. Ooh, I know Our House and like it too It ends up a bit eclectic, but I suppose an album with so many songwriters will do that Best track - Helpless, Deja Vu, Our House 3 stars

It's some core boomer rock, and it's okay. It's also like 1/4 a Neil Young album, so that sucks. Idk, this run of the mill dad rock doesn't really do it for me

The first album was all dreamy harmonies and beautiful tunes. Then along comes Neil Young and puts some grit and grunge in. You know lots of these tunes already. It can get a bit summer of love and love is the answer, but that grit does its job. And Helpless really is one of the best songs ever written.

I liked this much more than expected. I've always found "Teach Your Children" to be unbearably cheesy so I didn't have high hopes for this album. Turns out they make significantly better music than that.

Pretty good, a nice collection of songs

Back-to-back Our Houses. Freaky.

Interesting but sounds like every band from the 70s Some greats and mids

Good but not great. Still enjoyed it though.

id give it 3,5 but i cant ;(

Comforting and familiar. Interesting to hear CSN morph into CSNY, as Neil Young steps to the forefront in the later tracks.

Quite a mix. I really liked some songs. Less so many others. I only just realised at the end that the Young is Neil Young.

I like the more raw moments like when the shuffly beat comes in on Carry On and the guitar licks of Woodstock. Great hearing Neil Young. Our House is really sweet, albeit always reminds me of the show Life Goes On, which then makes me a lil' sad. Not really my thing but it's good. I wouldn't put it on again but wouldn't mind if someone else did.

Standout album in the 70's folk/rock genre. There are a few legendary songs, but the album isn't something that I want to listen to repeatedly. Pitchfork: n/a Rolling Stone: Top 500 Albums #220 Best Songs Carry On Teach Your Children Our House

Yeah I didn't listen to this. I'll probably recommend it to a friend

This was okay, but doesn't stand out to me. I like some songs but don’t know if I’ll come back to it. TOP Songs: Helpless, 4+20, Woodstock

I don't get the hype: 80% of the album is OK but pretty boring. Not even the incidental presenc of Neil Young (that I typically appreciate) can make it better. Besides contributing a few guitar parts, he authors one good song (Helpless) and a pretty useless one. The only other genuinely interesting piece is Crosby's Almost Cut My Hair.

TAK TAK

Nice, short and to the point, but a smidge too country to really give it any better than a 3

A very good surprise. I was expecting the worst since I like neither country music nor Neil Young, but this album is more on the blues and psychedelic side, and it totally works. Except for a couple of country and folk-oriented tracks that bored me (like "Teach Your Children"), most of the songs are solid blues-rock offerings with a trippy psych twist. The musicians are competent, and even Neil Young's voice is far more tolerable than usual. He should totally have stayed with that bunch instead of churning out dozens upon dozens of extremely average solo country albums. Not necessarily something I'd come back to, but I'm glad I gave it a try. 6/10

Not as "folk" as I remembered.

I dont know, a lot of the songs sound and feel the same to me. Our House and Country Girl were my stand outs though. 5.6/10.

hostia el estéreo, mucha guitarra, almost cut my hair queee, la acústica de 4 + 20 ufffff

Turns out I know all these songs even though I didn't know the album. Really good harmonies. Couple hidden gems in there that I didn't expect to like. Helpless, by Neil Young.

There are some undeniable classics on here. All the musicians are great, but I still don't really enjoy Young's voice all the time.

Of it's time production-wise but an incredibly easy listen.

A product of its time. Sounds similar to CreedanceCR, The Beatles etc. Not a massive fan of the vocals in my personal tastes, but I am very fond of the drums and especially the guitar in this album. Instrumentally, it’s great.

I had somehow heard like zero of these songs before, and I kind of understand why. They are not my jam. I have to give it a three on artistic merit, but I wouldn't listen to it again.

Fairly good vibe. I liked Our House that was a good one.

Liked Woodstock and our house, nothing special though

I already love the vibe from the moment the first song starts. It’s so chill! The kind of music to just kick back to.

Pretty boring. It's folk rock but like not in an interesting way.

It was pretty good nothing outstanding.

A solid folk rock album that leans more towards rock. Both the instrumentals and vocals were decent to good. I will say that this album's cover of "Woodstock" is definitely worse than Joni Mitchell's version.

A pleasant listen with a surprise hit I didn't realise was theirs

I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this one. Some tunes I recognised that were either covers or the original.

Listenable hippy rock. Sounded better on the second listen, so 3.5 stars from me.

A fine album. Didnt find myself over the moon but it was a fun listen.

This was good but it was kind of what I expected. Great harmonies though

I actually like that 70s parallel moving harmony stuff when I'm in the right mood. Works on Teach Your Children really well and turns out quite sweet. Some of these are a little dull, I actually think Helpless drags way too hard despite being lyrically evocative. That one's pretty boring while songs like Deja Vu have a decent amount of harmonic intrigue and keep me interested. I think it's somewhat of mixed bag all said, sometimes it's fairly dense musically and lyrically and other times it's dry and passable. I think the good outweighs the average just enough that I'd call this a 3.

Déjà Vu has lovely harmonies, emotional songs, and relaxing atmosphere, making it enjoyable and memorable, although some tracks feel less interesting, causing the album to lose energy occasionally before returning with stronger melodies and performances that show why many listeners still appreciate it so much today overall.

Always liked Our House. The remainder are pleasant enough.

Not completely my genre, but this is a really good album, I confess I have the singles, "Teach Your Children" and "Our House". This is between a 4 and a 3, but it's not 100% my thing, so....

Wildly different quality from track to track, some of them are just more talented than the other 3.5*

me gustó el álbum pero siento q le falta algo q lo haga destacar, es un rock normal y encima al ser corto lo hace sentir un poco simple, pero igual está muy bueno

good relaxing listen. i heard a lot of folk elements combined with the rock-sound. (not my vibe tbh) my fav track was woodstock :)

pretty good, still not enough clear instrumentals but got a song so we chill

Solid album, even though I'm not much of a folk guy it was an enjoyable experience. Not something I'd actively come back to though.

There's way too much mediocre folk from Laurel Canyon on this list, but Neil Young's contribution makes this one of the better examples. It has "Helpless" and "Woodstock", which are great, but also stinkers like "Our house". Well...

Did anyone else recognize Teach Your Children from Bring Your Daughter to Work Day on The Office? I had only heard that song and Our House before. The rest are solid -- great tight vocal harmonies, good guitar playing. I think my favorite is the title track which sounds a little more like prog rock than the rest of the album.

i’d say „carry on” or „almost cut my hair” are the best songs. honorary mention (out of all the rest what i also liked) was „teach your children”, „4+20” and „country girl”. the rest didn’t really get into my music taste, 2/10 songs were lowkey peak, 3/10 were great, and then the rest meh but still good. overall what i’d say is good is „carry on” or „almost cut my hair” (mostly „carry on”)

This was not my vibe unfortunately. The concept is cool though!

This was a nice, bittersweet listen with beautiful harmonies. Never been a big fan of folk, but this is actually really good for the genre. Even though Neil Young has too many albums on this list, this one should not be cut!

Mixed bag, but overall a good bag. The parts where it was just Neil Young on the mic were the best (coz he's obviously got a proper standout voice). Helpless was a standout, alongside Woodstock by Joni which I didn't know was on this. Songs varied in quality but were never awful. Nice!

Super sympa, mix country rock folk des beatles américains pas mal

Meh album. Sounds like queen a little bit

First album of the 1001 Carry On - alright Teach Your Children - corny 70s harmonies Almost Cut My Hair - corny but might be better with more listens, NY guitar solos Helpless - Slower, 4.0, Add Woodstock - boring Deja Vu - interesting intro, 6/8 time signature for the verses, shifting to 7/4 for the chorus, and ending in 4/4. Add, great rolled off treble guitar tone towards the end that goes into a bass solo, realizing it's the titular track, 4.0 Our House - our house is a very very fine house, fine 4 + 20 - great acoustic guitar intro, add Country Girl - Big and swirling, good not great, builds in a weird way, too much 70s harmony, harmonica outro is out of place Everybody I Love You - good but not for me Album score: 3.0

Esta bueno

Adaugat

#3 7th April 2026 I love the vocals, the instrumentals. Solid to listen to track mentions; country girl (the beginning) helpless(something about those vocals)

Muito bom mas não é muito meu estilo

knew it was gonna be good from the cover alone

As a whole, I thought this album was okay... Nothing special, but a good listen from start to end. I just felt that some of the songs on the album sounded too similar. I understand that the genre of the album isn't really going to change much throughout, but I just think that some of the songs sounded a bit too much like each other, which meant that it took a bit more to make any songs stand out. I think 'Carry On' is a really good opening track; it introduces you to the sound of the album with a really upbeat feel. I really enjoy the stacked vocals/harmonies throughout the entire album; they work really well and aren't ever overused. It is slightly shorter than most albums, but I think, for this, it works well that way; I think much longer, and it would have started to slightly drone on after a while. The songs themselves seemed a good length, with some variation of a couple of longer ones and shorter ones thrown in the mix. I think the way the instrumental worked in 'Deja Vu' was very clever, also. The start of the track consists of a very short, repeating instrumental motif, giving a genuine sense of deja vu. Favourites: Almost Cut My Hair Deja Vu Our House Everybody I Love You

esta muy bueno, es una mezcla entre fleetwood, los beatles y musica country

7/10 Did not think I would like this that much. A couple of iconic songs. Can not add any songs to any playlist however.

Lovely pleasant album with lovely pleasant harmonies. Who knew Kevin Nash could sing like that.

I found this quite unremarkable hippy nonsense. Sick of hearing about woodstock crosby. Until our house. What a lovely song. Gets a 3 just cos of our house.

Very nice. Dont think they all need to sing at the same time. Back off. Sit down Stills. Our House is sublime. 5 for that. 3.5 for the rest.

Some great songs here. Could easily give a 4. Last couple aren’t as strong though.

Me dieron una vibe parecida a los Beatles. Mis canciones fav fueron Country Girl y 4 + 20.

This is a fine album. Nothing wrong with it at all. Three stars.

Very nostalgic to me

Didn’t have high hopes for this but then quite enjoyed Carry On. The rest was whatever but also kinda liked Everybody I Love You

esta okey

It's crazy how good "Our House" is compared to the rest of the album. It carries. Hard.

Not a bad album, it was pretty chill leaving it in the background, and I think that I even recognised one of ths songs. It is a fairly old album, but it was nice just listening to it while I was doing other stuff.

Album #57, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Déjà Vu ⭐⭐⭐ This was a favourite album of mine when I was a teenager, and it’s been a long time since I listened to it. It’s kind of mad that this is the best-selling album in Neil Young’s catalogue, even though he’s only on it in a fairly limited way. Maybe I’ve just grown out of this group over the years, but I think it’s quite a mixed bag now. Funnily enough, the tracks where they come together as a full group are the weakest. “Carry On” is pretentious hippie bullshit to me. “Everybody I Love You” is less pretentious, more of a rocker, but still doesn’t do much. Their harmonies are obviously beautiful, but they can feel glossy and overused, like more of a display of ability than something that actually serves the songs. That’s a strange criticism for a band known for their harmonies, but sometimes it just comes across as a bit over the top. “Woodstock” is another one. Their version doesn’t come close to Joni Mitchell’s spooky original. And the title track “Déjà Vu”, which is the ultimate nonsensical David Crosby song. It has some lovely moments, but overall it just feels like a kind of folky prog thing that doesn’t really land for me. “Country Girl” is a strange Neil Young track, more like his Buffalo Springfield era. Interesting chord progression, but it’s over-arranged and not as direct. A weak Young song in a period where he wrote virtually none. On the positive side, the songs that showcase the individual strengths of the group are stronger. “Helpless” is a beautiful Neil Young track, one of his best.“Our House” is very twee, but it’s also a lovely, catchy English-style pop song from Graham Nash. “4 + 20” is a simple, sombre Stephen Stills track that really suits his voice. And then there’s “Almost Cut My Hair”, which is easily the best David Crosby song. It’s direct, powerful, energetic, soulful, and has great fucking lyrics. All the things that can be missing from his music at times are there. I remember Crosby himself saying those were the most juvenile lyrics he ever wrote. No David, they were the best! That’s kind of the album in a nutshell. Track for track, it’s just a mixed bag. I’d probably take their debut over this. It feels more focused, more tuneful, and the harmonies don’t burden the songs.

I’m not sure why — perhaps its the cloying, simplistic hippie naïveté — but I absolutely cannot stand “Teach Your Children” and “Our House,” the two Graham Nash songs. It’s not like I disagree with the sentiment of “Teach Your Children.” And, sure, I get it: “Our House” is an ode to his wonderful life with Joni. But….ugh. It’s like those terrible love songs written by lovelorn solo McCartney. Those two songs alone bumped this album down a full star. And another thing about CSN&Y for me that I’m not proud of: I just don’t like their harmonies. Which is crazy. I love harmonies in music, and Pandora has proven that to me time and time again. But certain bands — like CSN&Y, America, The Beach Boys — I just don’t care for their particular harmonies.

I'm so sorry , but I find this album a little too inconsistent to consider it "GREAT." Maybe more listens are required. I'M SORRY.

This has got a bit of everything, reflecting, I guess, the disparate personalities of the four protagonists at the time. Didn't know Our House was a Graham Nash song....I know nothing about music!

Pleasant

Our house is rightfully the star track on this album. Neil Young is the dominant voice, some good writing from Joni Mitchell on featured tracks.

Nice!!

3.5/5 Favorite songs: Carry on Woodstock Our House

NICE ALBUM

Not my cup of tea...

So I learned that I like Crosby, stills, and Nash way more than I like Crosby, stills, Nash, and young. Cool

Really enjoyed Our House a lot. Not so much into country rock but these guys seem pretty alright to meet my tastes.

I can see why this album is so popular. The harmonies are tight and it’s musically interesting. Neil Young ruins it for me. What a tool.

A nice mix of blues & rock

Prettttty gooood

Liked this a little more than the CS&N album I had the day before. On a relisten this might just nudge into a 4, but for now it's a high 3

Couldn't decide on 3 or 4, so a harsh 3.

From barbershop quartet to yeehaw pedal steel to Southern rock to pure pop, this is a diverse albums. Great songwriters come together and put out a raggle taggle album with some genuine gems

Um bom albums, nada excepicional

Good, but I’m just not a Neil Young guy (can’t stand Helpless). Highlights for me are Carry On, Woodstock, and Our House. Also liked 4 + 20 and Teach Your Children

Another album that deserves a spot in the 1001 project, yet I'm giving it 3 stars. I like it, but it's a little too polished for me. Outside of the Eagles, few bands have stacked this many distinct lead voices in rock. While CSNY had the chops to pull it off, it sort of works a little too well: it's too pretty and polished. Good, and worth listening to, but 3 stars.

Heard Before? Certainly feels like it. Notes: - more variety than I expected, despite having heard all these songs before. - multiple vocalists are always the key to my heart. - rough-edged production suits the material. arrangements are unremarkable but make sense. - in general I find this easy to admire but hard to love. it's truly great but I just don't care. - the organ on "Country Girl" grabbed me. Verdict: Hippy dippy baloney with cheese. Listen Again? Like so many in this list, I don't really need to, despite the obvious quality.

4 + 20 = 420 brah.

Very 70’s. Not a big fan. But did not skip any songs….

This had some unexpected moments for me that I really enjoyed. I can see how it would be considered important / groundbreaking / controversial...but now it's just kind of ...classic folk.

Some good tracks on this one. Total classics.

I was never the biggest CSN (and/or Y) fan, but parts of this album are pretty fantastic. "Helpless" reminds me a lot of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door."

Agradable. Buen sonido.

Sunday Morning listening

Post beatles seems like the most appropriate word I'd use to describe this album. Personally I prefer the real deal.

Recognised a few of these songs and enjoyed the whole listening experience. Not better than their first album (Neil Young I'm looking at you) but overall good

Fine, good vibe.

It’s fine. A little sleepy for my tastes and outside of Helpless it didn’t really move me. I’d also appreciate a lil more creativity with the band name.

This album was more interesting that I thought it was going to be. Neil Young's voice did not grate on my nerves. The writing and production of this album was solid.

* i would go back to the album, so sorry if my current review is not good. feel free to criticize. iam not that good at eng, so i would prop annoy you at some point. -Those uncles look at us in the cover, i initially expected some heavy-topics songs, like darkness or war, whatever, after a listen or two, those uncles looks just relaxing to me. + Carry On: I...may be i don't catch the right feeling for it; but the harmony is so good and that tiny guitar sound is vibey. "Carry on, love is coming, love is coming to us all" is so great. + Teach Your Children: it's so satisfying to listen to, um, simple lyrics, the song's idea is interesting, i just love it. + Almost Cut My Hair: those guitar sound is so cool, like 'hit it!" I;D + Helpless: this song is so lovely, it brings me calmness, i want to sing this song so bad. + Woodstock: it would not impress me with those riff that much, i feel like the song is a bit long, idk, i feel sorry. may be i would love to listen to it some other day + Déjà Vu: it's something about deja vu, i cannt get the idea behind it but the song's just strange. + Our House: as you expected, i love this song, it leads me imagine about a little cute house + 4+20: um... it is alright + Country Girl: it's good + Everybody I Love You: a great closing track => um... i think the whole experience is worth it

Sounds like the type of music that would play on the radio in a movie where a character's driving in the middle of nowhere

As expected. Reliable and calm, a little homesick too

The first song is great. The rest I guess is in background music.

A solid album, containing good music.

Not their best album, but still good.

First listen

It was good, and I didint know they wrote “our house”

This band sits at a cross section of genres which looks like it would be right in my wheelhouse, but the album itself sits around a 3 for me - a few songs I actively like, a few (Teach Your Children, Our House) that I'm not really that keen on - over exposure through Building Society ads, and the handful of others are just... meh. A bit repetative. I probably wouldn't choose to put this on again, hence the 3. Highlights for me are the opening track: 1: Carry On, 3: Almost Cut My Hair and 6: Deja Vu - the compositional structure of which had a go at describing the feeling of Deja Vu musically. Total number of tracks: 10 Fave Track: 3: Almost Cut My Hair 13/02/26

Easy listening No ear grinders Triple hitter

Such a mixed bag. You have some genuinely good songs on this, but they're instantly ruined by the several bad songs. Like, where's the consistency???

bon! 3.5/5

Yeah it was alright!

Clearly a classic. Tons of songs that I recognize and were played on the kinds of radio stations that called themselves "soft rock" which is a lot of what my mom listened to in my formative years. That being said, I don't really like it beyond the hits I recognized. I'm probably too disillusioned with the 60s/70s hippie style to really enjoy this.

This is not bad, a quite enjoyable album for sure, but also not the best album of all time. I am also kind of getting tired of the amount of Neil Young I have gotten over the past weeks. Surely there's more on this list than just Neil Young?

I have heard a lot this one before, but obviously much easier to compare the individual contributions when played in one go. Pretty inconsistent album. Young and Stills seem the best. 3.5 rounded down Heard before? Yes most Owned: No 48/201 (23%) Will I get: Probably

ok, nothing special. Beatles vibes after the Beatles

Not bad!

Again, I’m not American enough for this shit. I fucking hate their folk and folk rock and country and whatever other genre this album has. It’s soooooo boring. It's not the worst thing ever, better than Neil Young solo albums. But it's just eh. It's alright.

I can appreciate this is a good and well designed album with some meaningful tones but I just don’t love any of it; it’s palatable but not sensational.

It’s no highwaymen. But the first listen I enjoyed some aspects but wasn’t fully sold, second listen it all made sense and I enjoyed a lot of it. Neil young is the stand out for me, again I like him so probably bias. The gritty, more rocky hinted songs draw me in the most, I think that’s what they should aim more for. a lot of it is abit dreary, slow and whiney. Harmonies are something else mind, and the musical talent is all on show. Hate to compare some of the stuff to the beetles, because I hate the beetles but, there is some influence. (Hate the beetles, how can you, I just don’t get the hype I think there were so may artists around in that era doing better things, and paul McCartney is a dinger) But overall, it’s ok, struggling to get past middle of the road. )

You've got Crosby, Stills and Nash, who are great at harmonies, but perhaps a little bit too shiny and precise. And then you've got Neil Young, who is on an entirely different level. Put them together, and you get an album which has a few standout tracks (mainly the ones Young plays on), and the rest is okay. This was the first collaboration between the four of them, and personally I don't think it shows the best they have, so only three and half stars from me.

Decent Fave track: Our house

Great guitars, good singing, Our House is a bop.

Solid old school fun

Listened to this bad boy on a snowy Saturday morning at Heine Bros. while completing Chapter 6 for Stats class. Must say, it most certainly met the vibe I was going for while being tested on my knowledge of distribution functions and probabilities. Our House is my favorite on this work, which isn't surprising since it is the only one I knew beforehand!

Slow folk rock. There are some nice guitar riffs and I liked a few of the songs like Woodstock and Country Girl, but it was mostly a bit too slow for me.

In a lot of ways I feel like this album is the antithesis of The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monae (lack of genre parallels aside, hear me out). This album is ALL execution, and lacks any major ambition to branch out and bring new trappings to the genre it exists in. While it's musically very well done, I personally feel that CSNY's signature vocal harmonies are even done better by other acts of the era and feel deeply indebted to a handful of late 60's acts doing pretty much the same thing. I actually feel that a lot of the highlights of the album are things that stray from this signature style, like the emotive blues rock of "Almost Cut My Hair" and more rooted acoustic songwriting of " 4 + 20". The sole exception to this is "Our House" which is almost all vocal harmony and harpsichord laced Beach Boys-esque pop, but I found to be a heartwarming and sweet track that reached me in a way a lot of the others didn't. Favorite Tracks: "Almost Cut My Hair", "Our House", "4 + 20" Least Favorite Track: "Teach Your Children"

Solid but kinda overrated? The highs are high... "Helpless" is beautiful, "Our House" is a great song, and those harmonies never disappoint. But it feels more like four solo artists sharing a cover than a real band album. "Almost Cut My Hair" goes on forever, and some tracks just drift without landing. Good vibes, great talent, but not quite the masterpiece its reputation suggests.

I was recommended this a few years back and on first listen l enjoyed but instead of it growing on me it started to grate. So when it popped up today I was not looking forward to sitting through it again, however I really enjoyed it. The songs alone are all on point but now I think I know what started to turn me off. It’s them god awful harmonies, sounds like one of them weird church groups. Oh and Neil Young is a self indulgent prick

Neil Young fits right in, otherwise it's fairly typical 70s folk-rock, not much else to add.

Some amazing guitar work and harmonization, everything else is sorta mid.

I like this album more than I thought I would, but I don't love the album.

Favourite Songs: Carry On Almost Cut My Hair Country Girl

Hämmentävä sekotus prog rockia ja folk rockia, ihan niinku olis ollu neljän eri ukon kirjottamia veisuja (hehe). Paikoitellen bängereitä, paikoitellen lame-o renkutusta. Nostona herkullinen ison kuulonen 9. raita, hell yeh. Kyllä tän uudestaankin kuuntelis, ei ehkä vakiokiertoon

Huge fan of Neil Young but hadn't listened to this before. Helpless is a cool song, but not taken by anything else really.

The instruments sounds mysterious, fit for a running away scene on a show LOL. The harmonization is also good, it really adds to its whimsy in a way. Liked songs: Carry On Almost Cut My Hair Woodstock Jan. 23, 2026 - 7:18PM

A few great tracks. A few others that were just too too gentle to be interesting

Carry on, deja vu. 컨트리나 블루스가 느껴지는 로큰롤.

why does he sound like that?

fine, i guess. this seems to be an important album but you just can't make me care about these guys and their boring-ass old folks music. at least neil young is significantly less annoying when there are three other guys singing with him. favorites: carry on, almost cut my hair, our house

Some bangers on here, really like Woodstock, Our House Deja Vu. Epic guitar bits too! Made me feel kinda nostalgique even though I wasn't alive in 1970

Quite nice (Al)

50/50 with it. a few songs i like. the rest not rlly my type. our house is v nostalgic tho

Good album for a genre of music I'm not too fond of.

A mystery this one. I like most of Neil Youngs work including vocals on this album. But overall underwhelming against my expectations. 3/5

Our House is, indeed, a very very very fine house. And this is a very very very fine classic rock album.

slow, chill, need to be in the mood for it, but OK

Rock de hippie, plutôt sympa et varié

Sympa, normal

I have had a lot of Neil Young already on this list. I believe this is my 4th or 5th album of his, in addition to one each from Crosby and Stills. While I like this more than the majority of the Young records, this is still a style of music that wears thin with me after the ubiquitous singles that I have heard on rock radio and as needle drops in movies my entire life. But this is well done and does not overstay its welcome as it is only 38 minutes long.

Some pretty great songs, but a lot of forgettable ones too. Still enjoyed my experience, but I don't think most of their stuff is for me. Favorite Songs: Almost Cut My Hair, Helpless, Deja Vu Least Favorite Song: Everybody I Love You Mid 3.

I like Young, I could leave Crosby, Stills, and Nash. This is solid, but I just don't love all the lead vocals.

Pretty decent

Pretty much what I expected from this, nice harmonies but fairly tepid stuff. Did like the inclusion of Neil young mind, he's grown on me a lot. Sometimes I'm completely on board but its hard to stick with that feeling with music like this. Feel like I'm giving out 3s for everything recently but this is another one.

What ever happened to young

our house is the best on this album tbh 6/10

This album is the epitome of what I think 70s music is. Amazing harmonies, folky, kind of meandering. 3/5

Nice but ultimately did not stick with me enough to know what to say about it now.

Leuk. Comfortabel. 1 liedje kende ik.

Sometimes I feel that this list is based around the premise that this genre, and possibly even this album, is the pinnacle of all music. It’s fine and good and all, but it’s interesting that over the last decade or so that the boomer rock genre has completely lost all cultural relevance after what was effectively a four decade monoculture.

Some good stuff, some okay stuff. Not hitting with me today, but I feel if I gave this more time it probably would.

“Our house” is a fun song. I liked the vibes!

Fine. Few goods songs here but not fantastic except for our house

189/1001 Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - Déjà Vu Heard before? ❎ Revisit? ✅ I had a pleasant time with this, the harmonisation works well and there are a couple of really great tracks, with one dud. This absolutely flew by at 36 minutes.

old folky vibe. like i don’t really fw old slow songs, so i was lowkey falling asleep el oh el. but lyrics and messages are nice, and everyone knows “Our House”

I listened to this album while making pancakes. Nice chill vibe to the album, I enjoyed the guitar parts, especially in the first few songs. I would listen to this again, it would be nice to put on during a road trip in the summer or on a lazy day at home. Definitely feels like the band is leaning into the changing of the decade with songs titled "Almost Cut My Hair" and "Woodstock". Welcome to the 70's! Good album, giving it a three because no songs really stuck with me on first listen around, though I still enjoyed it.

The photo is very creepy. But the songs are not :)

It's chill

This is a Neil Young Orbital project, and like most Neil Young Orbital projects, it's a pretty decent album with like three or four amazing songs. Here, my favorites are Almost Cut My Hair, Helpless, Deja Vu, and Country Girl, although I would like to give some flowers to Carry On too. Although, I would like to note that Helpless and Country Girl kind of got a free pass: Young is my favorite of the four songwriters here, and he's my favorite vocalist of the group. Although, I would like to note the attention to detail in the arrangements and performances here from all of the members. Even the songs I'm not into are very intricately assembled, and I do admire it. But, as I said, despite the handful of really great songs here, and the high level of execution, the full picture is just "pretty good". In folk and roots rock, there really isn't getting around it if there are songs I'm not really into, and there are a good few here. That being said, if you enjoy any of the music that this project is connected too, probably give this at least one listen.

Mijn favo is 'Our House' 6.5/10

3.5 - pretty good album

i wish i could enjoy this one the same way others do, maybe if i listen more that will change. who knows

Am I the only person that has no idea who Stiills and Nash are?

A bit of an inconsistent album to me. A lot of different styles, but not all of them work equally well. Also makes the album feel a bit disjointed at times. "Our House" is an obvious favourite, but "4+20" and "Woodstock" are also strong songs. "Helpless" is easily my least favourite song on the project, and feels like it just goes... nowhere. Overall a solid listen, but not one of my favourites

I feel like this album just builds up to Our House - which is a bop - I'm honestly just enjoying this experiment of listening to a new album every day. It's reconnecting me with so many classics and new things I didn't know existed.

Teach your children, Woodstock, Our House, Everybody I love you sont mes préférées. Overall cool mais un peu overwhelming. Des guitares top du top du top !!

Non male, si sentono gli stili diversi

Overall well produced and enjoyable album. Just not the type of music I’d listen to willingly ;)

really liked the sound

I liked this one quite a bit, it was different, but had a nice feel. All songs feel like they had a lot put into them. I won't take away any of these, but wouldn't be opposed to listening to the album again.

80s vibe

It's aight. I can see the good ingredients here, but nothing really grabbed me.

Hmmm. Not sure. I mean this album is iconic, but when you listen to it it feels like they could do more. This is a group of super talented musicians who bust out amazing vocal harmonies for breakfast, so why are the songs all so humdrum? Three stars I guess.

Heard some songs from it before. My second album from the CSNY cinematic universe and honestly I really like it. I think I need to start listening to them more 3/5

Best Track - "Teach Your Children"

A mixture for me, it got off to a great start, but some songs did drag a bit and I'm rounding down to a 3 notwithstanding the obvious skill and artistry.

Great vibes, always fun to get surprised by a song you know already. That was “Our House,” on this one for me

2/3. Felt like more of the same from the previous Crosby, Stills & Nash album. A couple of good songs on here and generally good performances, it just doesn't grab me that much. Wish they leaned into some of the heavier sound a bit more often, but I will say that 4+20 was probably my favorite track and that was a totally different vibe than anything else on here or CSN.

Good songs. Whiney voices 🙉

Noen kjedelige, noen flotte

Not so bad

I quite liked this

Best = Deja Vu Skip = Teach your children

Not my normal style of song, but surprisingly I did enjoy it and wold listen again in the future 👍

Couple of bangers could be better

Pretty good

Pretty enjoyable album

Usually like to listen in the mornings but got busy. Have this one on vinyl so going to use the record player around late afternoon early evening. Started playing around 3, first song I think of when looking at the vinyl before it started is ‘my house’ and maybe ‘helpless’ too, but I don’t remember ‘Almost Cut My Hair’ being that… simple? Not sure if that’s the right word but it was a very fun song just didn’t meet my expectations of cool harmonies typical in CSN. On Woodstock right now, sounding good, having fun. Oh shit ‘Country Girl’! How could I have forgotten—so good. Feels like the songs in between the ones that I know well are not growing on me huge Finished it, going to listen to a few of these a once over or two before rating bc I’m still not remembering a few of them too well, but maybe that’s just a sign they’re not that good, will report back. 2am, good album with some hits but it’s 36 minutes long only. Would probably give it a 7 or 7.5 if I could but I’m not giving it a 4/5 because there’s definitely better albums that are only a 4 so it needs buffer.

Decent

Revisit

The sound of America as I wish it would be. A bit too clean and perfect, though! Favourite tracks: Cut My Hair, Helpless, Country Girl

Felt very average

I was reading about Buena Vista Social Club and how it didn't do too well in Havana/Cuba generally bc it came across as too "old school." I think I feel similarly about this album. Much like BVSC, I do enjoy it quite a bit, but there's just something not fully there for me.

Aside from a couple of songs, I don't find it memorable.

La primera vez que lo escuché no me generó nada. La segunda vez, mirando incluso la fecha, caí en que era bueno. 6/10

We love Neil, but this isn’t my favourite.

I liked this more than I thought I would, as I thought it was going to be more country influenced. I liked the longing lyrics of almost cut my hair, and how beautiful helpless was.

Had more fun with this than I expected. Some decent songs here. Boygenius for Woodstock Dads.

lotta guys here. Highlight: "Our House"

Nice but forgettable. 3/5 Highlights: Carry On Teach Your Children Our House

I didn't love this as much as I expected to, but it had some pleasant folk songs on it.

Fuck this Young guy get him out of here

Aight. Lots of different vocalists.

This was alright

Najveći problem ovog albuma je za mene značajna oscilacija u kvaliteti pjesama, ide od nečeg nalik na ne-progresivni Yes do folka koji već provjereno mrzim. Prijatno je za slušati, pa čak i u gorim trenucima.

It’s a classic sound (that I grew up hearing) but Neil Young sounds like a yowling cat

I don't know.....I like these songwriters individually but it's still shocking to me that Neil young would do this cheesy harmony stuff. Our House is iconic, but I can't say I like much else

Good album. A good mix of style. Favourite song was Woodstock

Feel like I’m just giving the same review once again, pretty mid again, 1 or 2 that are good but just not my thang

Quite liked this despite thinking country and folk are the Devils work.

Got a feeling I’ve listened to this before. Nice listen

A very nice album. A little twee but I still loved Our House and it’s been stuck in my head for days

There's really nothing wrong with this, but it's just become generic overplayed classic folk rock. I'm exactly as old as this album, so I've been hearing it literally my entire life. I don't want to listen to it anymore. The only thing that keeps the sound fresh at all is Neil Young's guitar.

Lovely. I’ve only gotten in to them recently, and I enjoyed this thoroughly.

Makes all the right classic rock sounds of the era, but it’s a boring plodder compared to the best of that era.

gör inget för mig men inte dåligt

This was OK - some stuff I knew before and I like this sort of music in general. A bit of an odd mix of stuff, and I can't quite decide if that's a good or a bad thing. Perhaps one I need to come back to and listen a bit more to to really get in to.

Pretty solid outing if a bit overhyped. Some great tracks (Helpless and Our House are my favorite). But some filler too.

I'm sure it's technically good and all but just couldn't get into it

pretty good, bit of country / singer songwriter. Very good guitar playing but overall a bit too mellow for me

A solid album through and through even despite Neil Young's inclusion. I've said it previously in my CSN album review but as much as I love CSN and Neil Young separately (and as much fun as those four dudes had smoking pot and making music), I truly believe his voice and style really don't complement the CSN asthetic. I mean, CSN has perfect three-part harmonies on top of well-blended folk rock and psychedelia, but oh wait here comes country bumpkin Neil coming in with his scratch cat vocals and fumbling thumb solos to mess it all up. I love me some Southern Man, Rockin in the Free World, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere et al as much as the next man, but a value add he is not. Still, this album sports all-time tracks in Carry On, Woodstock and Deja Vu, as well as hippie favorites Teach Your Children and Our House. Though I will add that a couple of hippies singing about cats and owning property makes me angrily jealous of boomers and Teach Your Children just unlocked a childhood memory of my hippy dippy 2nd grade teacher making us since that song in class. Was also waiting on harmonies to kick in on 4+20 to elevate it past little more than a demo. In all, this is a fine album but not what I want from CSN.

Always leaves me helpless ✅ Almost Cut My Hair ✅✅✅✅✅ Helpless ✅✅ Deja Vu ✅✅✅ Our House

Liked it, but didn't love it. Maybe I'm not a CSNY person. I feel like they are always teetering on the edge of something really interesting and unique without ever making it there.

I think I’ve listened to it before. I thought it was solid. Probably won’t revisited it though

Solidly OK.

Nice folk album, 3+

First listen. I don't have a ton to say about this one. It's just good. Great songwriting, although the instrumentals are maybe a bit too of their time for my taste. I just don't connect with it too much at the moment, which I do find a bit surprising since I love (what I've heard of) Neil Young's solo work. In fact, I found the tracks where he sang to be the most captivating, perhaps only due to some sense of familiarity. Country Girl in particular was excellent; I found its instrumentation, vocals, and especially harmony to be a bit more interesting than the rest of the record. I think this one might grow on me over time. It doesn't feel very immediate. But, it was still a very enjoyable listen! Fav. Track: Country Girl

*1970. *Some good songs here. RATING - 7/10

A legendary band, with good reason. A legendary album that, for some reason just didn't connect with me as much as I thought it would. There were a few tracks that I really liked ("Teach Your Children", "Carry On"), and one that really didn't ("Our House" - can't help it, I've never liked that one). The rest were okay.

The hits are pretty classic. The non hits ... not so classic!

It features great harmonies and solid songwriting, but it falls short of expectations. "Our House" is a highlight, but many tracks feel uneven and drag on.

I feel like this is the genre I usually love, but this just didn't quite do it for me

I'm from a town in north Ontario so I can't help but like this album. Neil Young and Steve Nash are two of my favourite Canadians, but Stills, why would they sing songs with Bill Crosby after what he was accused of?

meh. i know it's a good album, but i think i've listened to it enough before this one that i'm kinda over the group. neil young's whiny voice is growing unbearable.

La homónima la mejor y las que vienen después de esa

So good

Difficulty one. Produced well, but a majority of the tracks just didn't click with me. Opening track, "Carry On", and "Woodstock" were good. "Deja Vu" wasn't bad either. That was it though for me.

It was okay, but none of the songs stuck with me. Despite 3 of the songs being among the band's top 5 hits.

It was kind of a struggle for me. Not bad, but not great.

Fun, simple listen. Had me nodding along for the first half, but then loses some steam as it wears on. Solid 3.5/5, leaning 3.

Sounds like driving through the US desert in 1970. The harmonies got a bit old after some tracks and a bit too folky/country for me at times. Tracks i liked: Almost cut my hair, Woodstock, carry on.

not a bad record, I love Neil Young but always thought that CSNY was pretentious folk-wank. I enjoyed it and would listen again. Our House and Helpless were my gems.

Not bad at all enjoyed it quite a bit! Thought the vocals and general sound was very enjoyable.

Good background music, better than expected.

3.5 for me. Bluescooter’s app skipped the rating on him. He rates it a 5 in absentia.

I feel like they’re better without Young, and him without them. (3.5)

I liked this one more than Rumours. It's closer to my taste. Still prefer David Crosby's first solo album to anything CSN or CSNY, though.
