Reviews (page 8 of 13)

A far, far better album than it has any right to be. Impeccable songs and performances help a lot of course but a band they weren't.

Not all song available on Spotify

Great chords in the “Carry On” seque, need to use in my own project. “Country Girl” is orchestrated beautifully, love the organ, nice and full. Harmonica in the outro is also nice; paired with the organ reminds me of “Outlaw” by Creo.

Good album with some nice harmonies and well written, layered tracks. Why are you keeping your cats in the yard? :(

Could only get a few tracks on Spotify, but they were pretty great. Will try and find a full version.

I was a C,S&N fan from the get-go. I probably play their debut album more than I play this. Because both sides of that album work for me. Side 1 of DejaVu is stronger than anything C,S&N have ever done, but Side 2 drags a bit for me. Still, that first side is such a winner. Stills’s Carry On is a perfect opener. Crosby’s Almost Cut My Hair is the highlight for me - my freak flag was flying at the time. Neil Young’s Helpless is the great survivor from the album - who hasn’t covered that song? Both Nash’s tracks on the album work for me. Our House was all about living with Joni & she wrote Woodstock, which closes Side 1 & is probably the finest composition on the record. Love Side 1 but the flip is not nearly as thrilling.

Easy listen, Young stands out in a good way

Lots of the songs weren't available on Spotify, but those that were, were good. I knew most of them, I've listened to this album before. It's nice, incredible vocal harmonies and some really nice guitar work.

Typically 70s in every way, and also an obvious leader in the trends. Sounds nostalgic from the first listen, like revisiting memories you never had.

Nothing blew my mind, but just pleasant to listen to

Good album, classic songs

Really enjoyed that. One annoying country song on there (Teach Your Children) that spoiled the start but quickly got better. Nice hearing Young's voice but not have it dominate the entire album. I'd love to give it a few more listens but as with most of the Young albums it's been decimated by Spotify signing alt-right conspiracy theorists up. YouTube is insufferable. Ah well. One to explore more of if it ever comes back. 3.5*

The greatest names of folk rock in one album. What more do you want?

The definition of a supergroup. It’s funny how much internal strife there was juxtaposed against these gorgeous harmonies.

Very good collection of songs, great songwriting and excellent vocal harmonies by Crosby, Still, Nash and Young.

Great album. All the Neil Young tracks are obviously gone from Spotify but this album was so enjoyable I listened to it on amazon. Our House is the stand out, classic song, but the entire thing is good. Mid 4

Highlights: "Country Girl," "Deja Vu," "Teach Your Children," "Woodstock" Seems like a real development from CSN. The arrangements are fuller, and the production improved, and it maintains the strengths of that last album. They know when to linger on a musical idea and how to create new interest as one wears out its welcome. The lyrics tend to be memorable, meaningful, and not too overwrought. And of course the vocal harmonies are iconic. Excellent all around.

Wonderful.

A lot of great songs on this album. The harmonies are really impressive technically and there is an underlying 60s attitude that permeates everything. A couple of the songs were really big let downs and it was sort of jarring to deal with that after hearing a great song. Really close to 5 stars for me though. 4.5 stars

Really enjoyed that. Knew a few that I didn't realise. Was a great morning dug walk album

There is such a rare beauty to these harmonies Our House in particular is just gorgeous and transports me to such a comfortable place The only criticism I’d make is that this feels like a collection of great songs by 4 different song writers, rather than a cohesive whole

This is a very good album - their only good one, in my opinion. The production and arrangements are "fuller" than on their first album, and the addition of Neil Young's songs enhance the quality of the band's performances greatly.

Going back to rate Neil Young albums now that he's back on Spotify. Never listened to a CSN album before but it was kind of what I was expecting. Definitely liked Young's songs the most but a very good album. Fav songs: Helpless, Woodstock, Country Girl

Excellent album. Helpless and Country Girl are standouts for me, but really, every song on here is a classic.

Technically lovely, though nothing jumps out. Some of the best background music I could ask for.

Nice job boys, top notch harmonies

One of the rare examples of a supergroup that really worked. I don't love every track, but there's enough here to make this album memorable.

Great album. Can hear hints of lots of great bands and musical styles.

70 folk rock

A good album full of classic jams.

Enjoyed this more than I'd expected to.

Surprisingly great record. Some of the best harmonies I’ve ever heard with catchy tunes.

Damm I backed myself in a corner on this one . I have their last and more shit album a three so I have to rate this one higher

Nunca había oído hablar de este disco y me ha parecido una auténtica joya. Banda sonora de un viaje en coche en una mañana de primavera.

Lot of range on here. Our House has always been a forgettable track to me, but Deja Vu is a prog-folk banger. I need to listen to more of this (more Neil Young in general), but the first two listens were quite enjoyable.

Really enjoyed this one. Each song had its own feel, probably because each song was a different writer. Looking into it, one was even by Joni Mitchell. 4/5

I’m definitely more of a solo Neil guy than a CSNY guy, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t have a good time with this too. I prefered the more electric songs over the unplugged hippie jams, and it’s clear that this isn’t Neil’s wheelhouse either- his acoustic stuff works best when he goes full country- but it’s a solid work that gives you a feel for an important part of history. B, would probably give it a plus if there was a version with “Ohio” as a bonus track.

Only part of this album is available unfortunately. Either way, what a great collaboration Saved tracks: Helpless, Woodstock, Our House, 4+20

Classic but top saccarine

The parallel vocal harmonies have always been wonderful. It may just be needing to go to youtube to listen to the tracks Young authored skewing my view, but Nothing truly grabbed me. Still a good listen, would listen again.

crosby, stills, nash and young… the intersection of southern rock and folk. gorgeous harmonies from the band and each of the four takes lead vocal duties on at least one song. the beautifully haunting lead vocals by neil young stand out on the tunes “helpless” and “country girl”. an enjoyable listen. highlights: “almost cut my hair”, “woodstock”, “everybody i love you”.

This was a pretty good album. I'm sorry that's all I really have. I like CSN&Y as a group and individually. This album was that. It didn't blow me away, but I'll definitely listen to it again. Erica: I was surprised by how many songs I knew which may make me biased due to nostalgia factor. I like the harmonies and guitar and a lot of these songs were top notch.

Just good ol’ fashioned folksy California rock. Pretty timeless.

very cool

This was warm and cozy. For some reason, even though "Our House" normally annoys me, it nearly made me weep this time. However, I still don't like "Teach Your Children."

Actually really nice classic rock. Prefer the more acoustic folky numbers like Teach Your Children and Our House

4 - it's hippie music that has a similar vibe to Guess Who. I'm into it. some songs weren't available so i can't give it a 5

Some good old fashioned spin in a circle hippie dance music.

Not their best album, but it is really good. "Teach Your Children", "Helpless", & "Our House" are the top songs on the album. "4 + 20" I like just cause 420. All together a good, but not necessarily great album.

Not the biggest Neil youn fan, but I love CSN. 4 stars

I was close to giving this album a 5. So many great songs plus a few that are filler.

Total classic with so many great songs. I can barely hold on through the Nash tracks though, Teach Your Children and Our House are both icepick to the ear terrible. Neil as usual kills it. Love Country Girl so much.

Essential.

Their best

I really, really loved this.

I always like hearing C.S.N.&Y., but I also find myself wishing a lot of the time that the rest of their stuff was as angry and bitter as "Ohio"

Chill music to listen to when you just want to... Chill

Here we are: the dream team. Sure, Crosby Stills & Nash had a great album as a trio, but it was the addition of Neil Young that would give us gold. Of course it's well-done folk rock. Impeccable songwriting goes a long way and the boys put on their best effort with this album.

Carry On is a great into. Teach Your Children is too twangy. Almost Cut My Hair is okay, nothing spectacular. Helpless is a classic, dripping with emotion and empathy. Woodstock is a jammer. Deja Vu has a very poetic sound and beat. Our House is okay, nothing spectacular.

Spotify doesn't have the Neil and Joni penned songs of course, but no matter, I have this one on vinyl. Neil's songs aren't the best thing here anyway. His guitar certainly adds some nice flavor, but I feel like he was saving his best material for his solo records at this point. Stills, Nash, and even Crosby are in top form though, cranking out some tunes that were very of their times, but which sound timeless.

I enjoyed it. A few meh songs, but overall it's quite pleasant and lovely. A shame half the songs on Spotify can't be played. I enjoyed "Almost Cut My Hair" and "Our House" for the two ends of the spectrum. I think Our House is probably the song I've most heard, but it's kind of a cute little thing that isn't overblown or pretentious, and I can get behind that.

Good. Not all of it was streaming on Spotify, but I enjoyed the songs that were streaming.

Not heard this album but already loved the classics that are 'Our House' & 'Teach Your Children'. Big fan and one I have saved. Great album.

Excellent album, thoroughly enjoyed the addition of Neil even if they didn’t. Possibly the best folk rock band ever and this album is a perfect example why. They blend the two genres seamlessly for a wonderful time. Wish there was a tad more range, but other than that, the singing, instrumentation, lyrics, and production were all spectacular. 4/5

really pleasant actually way better than their other album 4.5

This was very solid, I think it showcased the individual members' creative directions better than some of their other albums (David Crosby popped off on his two songs). If it wasn't so much of a hassle to listen to on Spotify I think I'd want to listen to it again. 8/10

Great album! Didn't keep my attention for long though

Country Girl is fantastic.

At its best, as good as this era of Hippie Rock got. Not perfect: hits or not, My House and Teach Your Children are mawkish pablum I never need to hear again. Woodstock gets more dated every year, though it's still a rocking song. But mostly very good.

Today we have the supergroup comprised of Bing Crosby, Stephen Stills, Kate Nash, and Angus Young. What a power cuatro. Songs I already knew: Our House Favourites: Our House, Teach Your Children This was a really enjoyable album. A real standout was the vocal harmonies throughout which never failed to sound fantastic. The music itself was a blend of folk, rock and country and made for a nice easy listen. It was like an audio version of a thick blanket on a cold night - it sounded cosy. Overall, an easy album to recommend. You may not like it, but I’d be surprised if you hated it. You’ll probably like it.

Definitely my kind of music. I listened to the original version once. Might listen to the 2011 Remastered version next. Really enjoy the music, the atmosphere, and I am excited to dig in to the lyrics as well. 4.0/5

Highlight tracks:Carry On, Almost Cut My Hair Nice folk rock sounds Cool lapsteel use 4/5

good stuff

Amazing combination of songs by obviously an amazing combination of individuals. Every song bought something unique to the album which made it an engaging listen. Shame the full album isn’t on Spotify!

It's a supergroup album, and not one that I can say anything particular about. Young curves the sound his way, which I can appreciate. Other than that, there's a kind of effortless timelessness to the whole thing. And not a weak song.

great musicians, influential. contains some of their hit songs.

Half of it missing - curse you Joe Rogan - but still enough wonderful harmonies, guitar virtuosity and songwriting to earn 4 stars. I'll even give Our House a pass, but not for long

Ended up really enjoying this one. The melodies were amazing, and so was the instrumentation. Can really see why this has influenced so many contemporary artists, especially some of my faves like boygenius.

Some good hits

Kinda fire

Love is coming to us all Я в восторге . Гармония голосов и инструментов просто замечательная. Рай для перфекциониста. Очень понравился трек deja vu и carry on

Pyramids. Teach Your Children, Woodstock, Our House

The production quality is phenomenal. I've listened to Neil Young but I didn't know about Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. I wonder if that's common knowledge you should know about. It's a very pleasant soft rock album with intricate guitar play. I really like David Crosby's vocals and especially on the song "Almost cut my hair". I only recognize "Our house" which surprisingly is one of the weakest songs on the album.

it’s so lovely, there are so many hooks and it’s played so well, such great production - sad that this generation and people like these were responsible for the degradation and collapse of our civilization

I don’t always agree with this list, but this one is indeed one of those albums that everyone should hear. It’s got a bunch of top 10 tracks and it’s incredibly well themed. Its incredibly pure and the heart of the hippy lifestyle. 4/5

Been putting this off for ages cos it wasn't on Spotify but found it on YouTube Music - and loved it. Much more varied and accessible than I expected. Drifts into real-ale-and-beards from time to time but that's OK.

Some songs missing, but an enjoyable listen!

I would’ve loved to give this a bad score to piss off the old grumpy Neil Young extremists that plague this site but this is great 4/5.

The harmonies are a bit too sweet for my taste and the songwriting on the second half a bit safe, but the first half are all absolute bangers.

I like this album a lot. Some songs are a bit boring, but they get saved by some interesting guitar.

Harmonies harmonies harmonies. Can't find much wrong with this album so it's definetly a high 4! Saving the precious five stars but this comes close

Was a nice listen.

Classic. Full, beautiful harmonies.

This website keeps giving me folk and I'm completely fine with that

I forgot Neil Young withdrew his music from Spotify, so in the absence of his four songs on this album, so in their absence I listened to Joe Rogan instead. Did you guys know that women are inferior and COVID isn't real?!? Just playing. Funnily enough, Deja Vu is a terrible name. When last I listened to CSN, I thought it was the blandest, drive time dad rock by very competent musicians. This time round, they've introduced a feeling of doubt and sadness to their music that is the 'secret sauce' that makes this album really good. Even the child like Our House is only sweet if taken entirely at face value. Really good.

Wait, this is actually really good. I wasn't expecting that because I've listened to about 4 Neil Young-related albums so far and disliked all of them. But nah, this album is a load of fun with some big and catchy hits. A cool surprise.

Great classic album

It's a very very very fine house

I light the fire, you place the flowers in the vase that you bought today

Side one is classic. Never spent too much time on side two.

Very nice

Classic rock is good rock. Half the album wasn't on Spotify though

Incredible harmonies! These guys can groove together incredibly well. Talented musicians, singer's, songwriters. Easy to listen to and just groove. Like if Beatles we're southern rock.

very good

Maybe it’s three stars, maybe it’s five. I couldn’t tell because my new headphones are a crock

Lovely fun. Best of this clean lyric folk rock style i have seen

Had heard a lot of these before, obviously love Our House. "Almost Cut My Hair" was catchiest surprise to me.

Ma da, njih sam znao dost puta ovako samo pustit, bez da razmišljam o pjesmama, o tekstu, o glazbi, pasalo je. Ugodan folk-rock album pun topline, mira i ritma. Čak bi reko da mi više paše na ljeto ono vruće, ali nije loš bome ni za jesen.

Lyrically pretty cringe, but musically a lot of fun. Gotta love some interweaving guitar solos, and I love that fuzzy solo tone.

I love the music and the vocals and harmonies are wonderful. My dad listened to a lot of CSNY when I was growing up so the nostalgia is pretty strong for this one.

Pretty good.

\beautiful how their voices sound together and several classicvs, of which Helpless my favourite

I enjoy some songs on this (although the 4 Way Street versions are wayyy better) but because I like many of the live versions, the album version pale in comparison.

I can definitely see how this album made the list. It is full of classics: Teach Your Children, Helpless, Woodstock, Deja Vu, Our House.... the other songs I don't know as well, but they still "feel" like they are part of something special. Deja vu is great. I feel like I've heard it before... Deja vu.... 4/5

For sure will come back to this. The harmonies, and relaxed acoustic vibe set the tone of feeling like you’re at Woodstock.

Ljúf og falleg tónlist, harmóníurnar flawless. Mikið uppáhald.

Not all available on Spotify?

Most of the album is not available on Spotify but I like what I’ve heard at least. Very old school rock folk

хорош

Legend for a reason. Great songs with great voices bringing them.

One of those bands and albums I never listened to growing up intentionally and felt I rarely had to due to the amount of airplay they would get.... only a few I have never heard before and one, Teach Your Children, I did not care for, but the rest of this album is excellent. and the first time I ever heard Our House was on Cheers... and still remember it to this day because of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkES9UuZyRo

Hey boys

I used to really love this album, and it’s got some good tracks but Neil young and CSN is somehow less than the individual parts combined. Good, but neither of their best work

Our House is an absolute classic, and this was a good album overall. My next favorite was probably Almost Cut My Hair, with its wailing guitar solos.

highlights: helpless our house 4+20

this was really good

3.5 stars. Really solid album, good guitarwork. Love the continuity yet unique vocals. Standouts "Carry On", "Woodstock", "Everybody I Love You".

me lembra um fleetwood mac mais pitoresco. os vocais principalmente são muito bons

It definitely deserves a place on the list

first listen great songwriting

Really decent album. Smooth, easy-listening folk rock with really nice vocals and guitars. Almost Cut My Hair and Our House are definite favourites. 8/10

Standout Tracks: Carry On, Déjà Vu, 4 + 20

Filled with beautiful harmonies, yet the instrumentals don’t really hit for me

What a joy to listen to well known artists and their famous album, but for the first time without knowing much about the LP. A huge surprise to finally discover that the very famous Our House is a Graham Nash CSN+Y song. Great harmonies, good catchy pop songs (thank you again Mr Hollies), country rock and straight up rock (thank you Neil). Superb collection and justifies its reputation. I’m already looking forward to listening again.

Genre: Folk Rock 4/5 And in other news obvious to everyone, Crosby, Stills & Nash (as well as this iteration's addition of Young) still rules. A total Folk Rock gem, Déjà Vu is one of the group's best, and certainly one of the genre's best. Full of tight vocal harmonies, and led by simple and effective acoustic and electric guitar arrangements, CSNY crafts a well-written and very well-produced album. While it's nothing groundbreaking in terms of sonic events, it's an exercise in pretty, and it's all executed wonderfully. The first 5 tracks, aka the first side of the LP, is a full-blown essential folk rock experience, full of all the wonders people love to hear in this kind of music. From Carry On thru Woodstock, each member leaves their mark, especially new band member Neil Young, whose song Helpless is one of the best tracks on the whole album. My personal fav though is Crosby's composition, the title track Déjà Vu, with its triplet folk rhythm swirling throughout the entire song in an almost mesmerizing way. Our House, another one of the group's most popular tracks, is a sweetly sung folk song that should be rewarding for any general listener. This is happy music made by great musicians, and any generation should enjoy CSNY's knack for melody.

La primera escucha no dejó mucho impacto, pero a la segunda todo encajó.

I feel like I’ve heard this one before. It bounces a songster shyly into the spotlight. A good combo/mix of voices and writing styles

Good record, enjoyed it.

Muy bueno

The Young songs are the best ones, but the whole thing is pretty solid folk rock.

folk can be such a nice, relaxing listen. folk is a great medium for telling stories or political/protest songs, too. and this album is so evidently rock from that guitar! it's charming how much to a T this album is folk rock. i was surprised by my enjoyment of this album! i wouldn't call myself a fan of folk, or even folk rock, but this was a wonderful listen! "country girl" grabbed me--boy do i love it when multiple songs are crammed into one. but also "teach your children," that is a song that's relevant in 1970 and 2022. "helpless" hits me right in my gut. that being said, some songs were just okay for me. still, an enjoyable and soothing listen on a friday. 3.5.

I have become pretty familiar with all of these songs individually, to some degree or another, over the years, but have never heard the album from front to back. These songs are outstanding as individual tracks and in a whole album format. I just love the vocal harmony among these four; Young adds something special here and I like the band's sound better with him (which is ironic, since I'm not a solo Young fan). While dominantly folk, this album touches several different genres and does so masterfully.

A smooth cracker.

Enjoyed this album lots! :D

I had this earlier last summer and I couldn’t muster any commentary, and gave it a “meh, 2”. But I’m wondering if I was in a nasty mood, or listened to the wrong album. Because this is so good. Earnest useful lyrics, creative and skilled instruments, economical writing. This could go on anytime.

good band of the '70s. Folk-rock like themes.

60’s rock like this is butter on my bread. Such a gorgeous, clean sound. David Crosby’s vocals on “Almost Cut My Hair” are stunning. I guess I’ve never heard him before. A real showstopper of a song! Other favorite tracks: “Carry On,” “Woodstock,” “Everybody I Love You”

Pros: - origin of "let your freak flag fly" - it's a dope classic rock album - it's the best selling album of all members' careers. - Super-group bands I think often have weird dynamics. It's weird but also probably inherently hard to avoid right? These guys don't really have that issue in this act I think. It all gels well. A good example is going from "Teach your children" which is a beautiful, heartfelt song, into "Almost cut my hair" (David Crosby singing) which is very funny and silly, and then finally into "Helpless" (Neil Young singing), which centers around Neil's very soft and distinctly different voice and ambiguous lyrics. You would think that these sounds and sentiments in 3 consecutive songs wouldn't work that well but they really do! - The title track, Deja Vu, is very cool and experimental for them. Starts with an almost-scat part, has some weird chords in there (Gab and i found a GSus4 chord into Emsus2 chord (I think that's how its' written?) and they SING these! That's very experimental! Hard to sing! Lots of tension! It's at 2:37) - "Our House" is way ahead of it's time to me. It's like a modern indie pop song in instrumentation arrangement, even the hook is very modern yet also somehow Beatles-esque. Cons: Misc: - It's tight all around. I've heard this album many times throughout my life but by isolated radio plays of the tracks, and never full through in one sitting. I really like how the album doesn't just start hot, play some hits, and then fades off; it keeps energy throughout the album and keeps the diversity throughout.

notable songs. Enjoy the song Woodstock quite a bit.

4.0 - Some pretty and familiar songs on here - "Teach Your Children" and "Our House." Beautiful arrangements throughout. A sunny day, hassle-free listen, good for a barbecue or by the pool.

Easy liste

Pretty good. Bunch of babies though, so just a 4

A pretty good jam! Dad rock but still excellent. Shows its folk roots as well

Pretty nice album on the first listen, enjoyable and entertaining. I didn't get to listen to all of it because some songs aren't on stream services. Good songs with good rythm and good lyrics, my favorite parts of the songs were the chorus and all the different instruments that they used. Favorite songs: Carry on and Deja Vu.

Great album!

The Elephant's Graveyard of the Laurel Canyon sound.

Good for doing work.

Lovely short and sweet and some great songs

Ok! Country, it's nice and i could knew other artists

Nice and chill. I don't know much about Neil Young's history so it was fun to think 'hey, that's neil young!' when he first sang on this album

Great album with a number of hits on it. Never realized these all came from the same album. On a 10 point scale, I would give this a 9.

5 étoiles juste pour le chien

Les 1001 albums américains à écouter avant de clamser Prefs: Carry On, Our House, Country Girl Moins pref: 4+20

Basis album, gevarieerd met vele invloeden en waar veel uit ontstaan is

Enjoyed quite a bit. A great, easy listening album

The idealism. The nostalgia. Joni Mitchell's track is the best. Can't quite figure out the harmonies the group is using, but it is very distinctive.

Fantastic album, love the collaboration of these four spectacular artists! Even though there wasn't much cohesion between them during the recording process, the end result sounds like they had remarkable recording chemistry throughout. Helpless is a beautiful song, and Our House has been a favourite of mine for many years. Woodstock is quintessential classic rock, it does not get any more classic or any more rock than that song. What a killer start to the week, bloody good album!

I dislike Neil Young. That being said, this album is one of the most delightful things music wise from that period.

Some of these sounds sound fresh and shine as influences for Songs: Ohio and similar Secretly Canadian bands.

Pretty damn good, cant beat harmonies like that. It could be a five and probably should be, but a high 4

Some really fantastic tracks on here

Worth another listen

Pretty good

A short album. Another classic 70s sound… I’m starting to tire of noodley guitars and harmony and tambourines. But it’s the sound of a generation for sure.

Lovely album that my dad used to enjoy. Listening to now it's patchy, but great harmonies and good songs. Can't really knock it.

Very solid, obviously a classic

For an album of the 1970s very good sound quality

Folk-rock setentero. Un pelín por encima del 3...

Agradable. 4

Sounds like a more folksy version of Dark Side of the Moon.

Great vocal harmonies, wonderful varying instrumentation (piano, guitar, drums, harmonica, voice as instrument, organ etc.) - some dramatic moments, not quite enough punch for 5 Stars

There's some of that folksy twang, but the way their voices blend together is just relaxing.

Interesting sound, but not quite my style.

Our house was my favourite, with teach your children coming in at a close second. Lovely album.

I wasn't terribly excited about getting this album today, since I've been pretty lukewarm on previous albums by Crosby (The Byrds) and Neil Young that showed up on this list, but this is a really stellar album. It does a great job of showcasing the strengths of the group, including their harmonies and songwriting, and manages to remain both interesting and consistent all the way through 4/5

A bit short, whole album very enjoyable, no skips

Great album - love the parallel harmonies on the title track, and Our House could pass for a Beatles track. The missing Oxford comma is really throwing me off though.

There's a bit of talent in this lineup. I've heard much of this but never listened to the album through. Our House is just such a lovely song. And a few of the others are very great. Like this one.

Still hangs together great - an absolute classic

Some lovely tunes on here and a lot of songs that I didn’t know they had done, however some twee as well

Enjoyable.

kæmpe champs alle sammen, lidt countrisk

I really feel like this is a 3.5 for me, but I am going to be generous and round up. I enjoyed listening to it in full, even though ive heard these songs my whole life, still, I would not consider myself a fan.

Some good ones here.

Bluesy, rocky, harmonization, southern rock. Hippie bent

Classic country rock album by some real heavy-weights. Beautiful harmonies and searing guitar solos - shame they could never keep it together for very long. Best Tracks: Carry On; Helpless; Country Girl

Our house is certified. Een zeer mooi rustig rock album

Our house. Underwhelming.

The harmonies always blow me away. Sometimes the song writing veers too far into a country sound I don’t enjoy as much.

A decent mix of classic rock and folk

Didn’t expect to love it, but expected to like it. Beat my expectations for sure.

This is a nice album to sit back with a chilled whiskey in a nice chair and have a good listen. Favorite Tracks: "Woodstock" "Our House" "Teach Your Children"

Great album….great tunes…. Great harmony…. Awesome !!!!

Oh no, they've metastasized. What was once three folk men has become six, doubling like the heads of the Hydra. This is really great though, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Again, great vocal harmonies, and some notably impressive instrumental performances, especially in the guitar and bass. Favorite tracks: Our House, Carry On, Teach Your Children, Almost Cut My Hair. Album art: Very rustic. As noted above, the boys have doubled and gained a dog. This is starting to look like the plot of THE THING. 4/5

There's a lot more to this album than I thought there was going to be... I expected it to be straight down the line country folk, and there's definitely bits of that here like on Teach Your Children. But a lot of the album grooves and rocks; Woodstock is a rock n roll banger, Almost Cut My Hair and Carry On are heavy and groovy, and Our House is whimsical and fun... Deju Vu is the highlight though. It's almost jazzy in its acapella verse vocals and epicly psychedelic on the slowed down, mellowed out choruses. Easily the best supergroup album I've listened to through this website.

Can’t complain. Classic.

An undoubtedly strong album from the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young era (probably the strongest from this line-up) that shows classic harmonizing vocals and soft-hearted lyrics. This album is the ideal short and sweet listen.

These guys are good

Mellow, great in the sunshine. Harmonies shine some good lyrics and some twee ones.

Great stuff

Been a while since I've listened to this one, but still holds up.

A key album in the West Coast genre - part hippie, part psychedelic, part singer-songwriter. Includes the gorgeous Helpless.

Thoroughly enjoyed

Enjoyable Folk Rock with a touch of psychadelic.

Hippy shit. Also, #1 road trip album.

Bello! Pezzi che m'hanno colpito: Carry On Deja Vu Our house 4 + 20 Country Girl

Although perhaps not as great as some of the other efforts (both together and apart) put out by the folk rock Gods, this album shows even at the most contentious moments between them, they are still light years ahead of anyone else. Favorite Song: Almost Cut My Hair

Really enjoyed this one. Lots I didn't know were their songs.

Incrível.

Teach your children well... to listen to this CSNY album.

Приятная, расслабляющая музыка. Запомнилась песня Helpless

My parents played this album all the time when I was a kid. This literally feels like my childhood. While listening to it I'm starting to realize how much my parents wanted to be hippies and how having us probably harshed their mellow. I do hate lap steel guitar though. Our house feels so good to listen to. This is a great album though. Just different enough but just the same enough. The Harmonies are mind blowing. The guitar sounds are incredible.

Some gems on there.

A brilliant album from start to finish. Wonderful songwriting and musicianship.

I enjoyed revisiting this album. It's been a few years. 4 star

Jammy.

I would listen to this again and I will check out their other albums.

Absolutely gorgeous, I especially liked the song about Neil Youngs hair. A strong 4, close to a 5.

Very good. I find some of the singing a tad annoying but it doesn't stop me liking this a lot. A vinyl pick up, without question.

Excellent

An Americana classic, though some of the single vocals have not aged well.

Stills grooves. Neil mopes. Crosby psychs. My man Nash agape loves. Perfect record except Country Girl, which for some reason gets a dramatic dirge/organ treatment. I love that Crosby has turned into a notorious shit-talker in his old age. That there's a massive feud among legendary classic rock musicians that 50 years later is still burning hot and completely irrelevant. Neil Young: "Crosby should write an introspective book: ‘Why People Won’t Talk to Me Anymore.’ He made a lot of great music for a long time. I don’t know what happened with David. I got nothing to say. I love Stephen. I love Graham. If a reunion happens, it would be a surprise. I won’t close the door on anything. I can hold a grudge with the best of them but only if there’s a reason for it.” Graham Nash: “I don’t like David Crosby right now. He’s been awful for me the last two years, just fucking awful. I’ve been there and saved his fucking ass for 45 years, and he treated me like shit. You can’t do that to me. You can do it for a day or so, until I think you’re going to come around. When it goes on longer, and I keep getting nasty emails from him, I’m done. Fuck you. David has ripped the heart out of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.” David Crosby: "Kanye you disgusting piece of shit for doing that to Laura Nyros music and then spewing your incredibly dumb trash talk over it". Mellow out fellas. Listen to your own records from 50 years ago. A

Gewoon fijne muziek om op de achtergrond te hebben. Fijne stemmen en instrumenten.

Really good album

Harmonies excellent! Musically very good album, sit around with mates in a park as the sun sets style

Really enjoyed this and will listen again

This album has a "sixties anthems" feel to it. The glittering harmonies remind me of their Woodstock performance. It's a very different style and no one has sounded like that before or since. The fact that there are 4 songwriters guarantees variety. I really like the Neil Young contributions (and Joni's). The title track wanders a bit and "Almost Cut My Hair" shouldn't have made the cut, so to speak

Classic

Loved it!

Folk pop muy bueno. Le pongo 4 estrellas en lugar de 5 porque resulta un poco monótono.

Love it, Carry On packs a punch to kick this album off. Great harmonies. Great musicians.

Harmonious to the core. Very enjoyable for a Sunday morning listen. The dog is the only one on the album cover not named!

This was a difficult one to rate for me. I recognize the huge historical significance that this early super group has wrought, but some songs with the Glorious Harmonies, in particular Carry on just grate on me. There are a lot of standout songs though like Almost cut my hair and all the Neil Young songs that pull it way up.

Never listened to a full CSNY album before and I really enjoyed it.

Simply amazes me how the four come together as one. It’s a shame that as a millennial, I can never truly appreciate the cultural impact they had at that time.

Chunky and divine, if a little too "pure".

Déjà Vu is the second studio album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, and their first as a quartet with Neil Young. Fun album!

great stuff.

i have no idea why i like "almost cut my hair" so much... maybe it is the "let my freak flag fly" lyric. though it is a bit dated, there is enough strong songs on the album, and no outright misses that make this an enjoyable listen.

A classic I haven't heard in full. Definitely something my mom and dad would love

This one was pleasant. I liked it pretty well, but I don’t feel a need to download it.

Their rock songs are definitely better than their country ones. Almost Cut My Hair is a frightening prospect.

I remember this one from my childhood. Brings back fond memories

Classic

Overblown. Oversold. Boomer BS. Our House is classic and the best song on the album.

It was a delightful blend of classic rock and folk...I hadn't heard of them before but will defo listen again.

Pretty good. What the Fleet Foxes are trying to sound like on some tracks.

Some weak tracks but also some classics

Enjoyed this WAY more than I thought I would

Great album - a throwback to the 1970's with a Woodstock vibe. Includes a tribute(?) to Joni Mitchell (Our House).

Yeah really good

Great through my headphones. Preferred some songs to others- some were slightly too country for me

Good vibes. Nice and simple. Liked the sound

Favorites: Teach Your Children, Helpless Carry on: great “Wah” guitar tone - 0.75 Teach Your Children: perfect folksy/country vibe - 1 Almost Cut My Hair: premise stupid, great guitar - 0.5 Helpless: Guitar seems to sing along with Neil Young. Beautiful. - 1 Woodstock: feels like I’m right there back in the 70’s - 0.75 Deja Vu: intro is annoying. Start to like it at the 1 min mark - 0.5 Our House: Piano coupled with the harmonies is beautiful - 1 4 + 20: Wish it was longer - 1 Country Girl: too much going on, here - 0.25 Everybody I Love You: Epic conclusion - 0.75 Rating - Composite of each individual song score - 7.5/10

Good album but would have preferred more songs of them all together like the last two songs of the album

Embarrassingly only knew of 'Our House' from this album, which is far from the best track. The whole album is so sweet. Instantly a new favourite from the era.

Good folk music

I love most of this album, but I freaking hate Neil Young

Dude could sing!

Gets sappy at times (Teach Your Children) and the addition of Neil Young isn't always strictly a positive (Helpless), but they're legends for a reason, and they pulled out some great ones for this collaboration. Of course, their best offering comes courtesy of Joni Mitchell. Best track: Woodstock

Connor: I thought it was OK, it felt cool in a hippie way but not a genre I'm super familiar with

heard at least half of this album constantly on classic rock stations lmao. bizarre to finally hear it again. its weird i feel like for a lot of the 60s and 70s the most acclaimed stuff tended to be rly popular too. this albums pretty good but a little inconsistent. some more good early 70s folky shit. carry on never hit me that hard. our house might be my fav song here i was a little suprised people dont like it as much. amazing song the rest of the songs that got played a ton are good too. not huge on some of the deep cuts since i heard so much of this already and the songs kinda burned in and out of my conscious mind i guess i got .... deja vu .... listening to this album. eh? ehhhh?????????????????????

Just ok. Slightly annoying vocal harmonies.

Got really good at the end but weak start

When David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash decided to form a supergroup, they named it after their last names so that if one member left the band, the band would no longer exist. It all seemed logical. Only the musicians didn't consider that another member might join the group, which would require a new name. As you can see on the cover, two more session members are listed there — a drummer and a bassist — but adding them to the band name would have been too much. While I found the debut album by Crosby, Stills & Nash quite boring, this album is a bit better: traditional acoustic folk is diluted with an electric blues sound. You'd think Neil Young had something to do with it, but no, he's the one whining, true to his work of the same era. The album is considered an immortal classic in the US, but I again found nothing special in it.

It reminds me of Yes on some parts, making the experience really nice for roughly half of the album. The other half... Didn't really stick much to me.

What do I have to do to get leas Crosby and Stills- hell at least I got Young. Neil’s dirtiness is the entire key and none of these guy should have made music without him- except maybe Nash.

Vrm nice on dirait bcp the doors c’est cool

Rock/country clássico bem semelhante a Creedence, bem legal e nostálgico.

I hadn't realized how many of the CSNY songs I know are on the same album. I like the trio without Neil Young, but they rock when they're with him. Woodstock, for instance, has an energy that I don't find in any of the CSN songs. I like that I can tell the four voices apart, but that they still blend well.

63/100
