Reviews (page 12 of 13)

Not sure about this one. Maybe if I'd discovered it in college, but now I just find it annoying

I've never been able to enjoy Thom Yorke as a singer. There's something I despise about how he doesn't properly enunciate any consonants ever, so he just endlessly wails indecipherable vowels. It's a style of singing that seems to have gained popularity in recent years. I just cannot stand that high-pitched yowl of his. The album is otherwise ok. Some interesting electronic sounds sputter along. Endlessly vague lyrics. The occasional burst of energy in the otherwise withdrawn and limp songs. Yorke continues his irritating whine whilst I continue to miss the supposed greatness of this group.

Better than the other indie rock sounding albums that I got before. I enjoyed some of the Electronic sections. I give it 2 stars only because it's not Coldplay.

bro this shit was so BORING

Not bad if you're into that style of music. Good production, and allowing space to breathe. It's just not my vibe.

My initial though...ugh Radiohead again. So I took a deep breath, regrouped and said, yay Radiohead, so I could give it a fair shot. Somehow I feel like they have such meaningful lyrics and dumb and repetitive lyrics at the same time. Says and the raindrops for half the song and then I will eat you alive, there will be no more lies for another. Which makes them so hard for me to like or dislike. I like Backdrifts, Going to Sleep, and There, There. But overall I don't get the total love and almost worshipness of them. On kind of a random tangent...I get it the song is complaining about W Bush and invading Iraq and the war on terror. I am not ever going defend W and the Merica dream, but I do find interesting that he bases the whole album on that and people following along like sheep. Yes W was the figurehead and a lot of people followed like sheep, but your country didn't "fall into the lie," they benefited from it, they wanted to do it as well, they knew there were no weapons...yes W was a problem, but it wasn't jus us, so in a way in retrospect this feels a little bit of money grabby and trying to jump on a bandwagon to make an album to just make money at Merica's expense.

Radiohead full albums just never do it for me. It is like a lesser newer King Crimson with a whinny voice. I do think they would be interesting live.

I love sad music but, not like this.

Look, I find elements of Hail To the Thief cool and very unique sonically but god, is it a drag to listen to. It's the same type of feeling I get when everyone is crowded by a film in a museum; it's fun for a few minutes but is pretty boring to sit with for long.

Oh god - I thought I was going to enjoy this one, but was not to be. Made me feel so sleepy and tired. Really nothing to write about - just blah really.

Too experimental

Veerrrry far from their best work

Dramatic. Whiny. Melancholy. Radiohead could be cool, but they aren’t. The production is nice so it’s getting a 2.

Okei, alussa on ihan rockia mukana, parasta Radioheadia tähän asti!

Still sleeping. 2 stars or D.

Man I was bummed listening to this one. After rejecting anything Radiohead in my youth, I’ve used this list to come around on them and enjoyed a few albums already that came up as daily picks. Sadly this is not one of them. This album is way too damn whiny for me. I skipped 3 or 4 tracks because I was getting so annoyed by Thom Yorke’s voice. First flop from Radiohead I’ve gotten.

There were parts of this that I did not hate, dare I say there were moments that I found myself actually enjoying some of the composition on display Then I'm reminded of what I'm listening to when inundated by irritating sappiness and political musings from someone who folded almost immediately after being heckled by an Australian. Less about this annoyed me compared to the lowest lows on Kid A but this was a bit more of a blase album by comparison

I find it extremely ironic for an album's theme to criticise the Iraq War and the regime of Bush Jr while at the same time Thom Yorke will play concerts in an apartheid state and ignore calls from his fellow artists to boycott Israel. A thoroughly same-y, forgettable album. A great sleeping aid. It took me multiple attempts to get through this album and I do not see myself returning to this. Highlights: Punch Up at a Wedding, Myxomatosis

Low and slow, kinda sad

Despite there being over 1000 albums, random fate has decided I need to listen to the entire radiohead catalog before I even get halfway through. As with every other of their albums, I don't get why they're here. This album, like the others, isn't special or notable. It's boring. Dry. Whiny. It would sound better submerged underwater

Jotenkin mitäänsanomaton. Loppua kohden ehkä vähän parani. Aika chill rock mutta tuntui vaisulta???

I just don’t get this album

Ahhh napokon gotovo.

really boring. i enjoyed the electronic songs (backdrifts) more than the rock ones.

2 Stars (5/15)

Too much computer music.

I stopped following Radiohead around the Kid A era because I was not a fan of Thom Yorke, in my opinion, whining over an electronic beat. This album a couple year down the road does nothing to convince me different. There are a couple good songs on here but there are some that to me are not my thing.

2+2=5- 3 sit down, stand up- 3 or 4 sail to the moon- 3 backdrifts- 3 go to sleep- 3 where i end and you begin- 2 or 3 we suck young blood- 2 or 3 the gloaming- 3 shut up

I know Radiohead has done better than this. Probably won’t return to. There, There was good once it started going though

I was very disappointed by this album, I found it boring and felt as though it sounded like background music with little beat to it. Highlights were few and far between with most songs merging into one, however Myxomatosis sounded like an unfinished Muse song and A Wolf At The Door felt like a song in the background of a film. Will not be going back to listen any songs as not to my taste.

Really highlights the limited diversity of this band musically. Not quite as good as OK Computer, but it's sort of hard to tell the difference.

Third Radiohead album so far on this list. I'm yet to be convinced they're not utter shit.

Typical Radiohead - warbling, ghostly, and I know I'm supposed to really like it, but it's just meh....

That sure is one of the Radiohead albums! I don’t mind anything here but none of it stands out either.

This is what depression sounds like!

Pour vrai ça sonne toute pareil

This album made me sleepy

Not too bad of an album but I thought that it would be slightly better and I also thought that there would more popular songs but these ones were a bit meh.

Because I need to leave a detailed review: (1) This is very boring music. (2) "Backdrift" features a full minute of a drum machine solo for no reason. (3) If this was supposed to somehow be topical, nothing in the 7 decipherable words had anything to do with anything recognizable. (4) Maybe this kind of music is groundbreaking and experimental, but I've heard minor inversions before, and experiments often fail. (5) There's just nothing exciting in any of this.

A couple songs were pretty good. A couple bearable. The rest - trash.

I cannot believe there are (at least!) 4 Radiohead albums on this list. They all sound the same and they're all dreadfully boring. This album was also overly long. I've said it before and I'll say it again - sad music for sad people. Not giving 1 star because it's at least actual music and not just noise, unlike some of the albums in this list

Radiohead

Das Album lässt einen etwas ratlos zurück. Ein paar spannende Rock-Ansätze, viel Gewimmer, experimentelle Elektro-Schnipsel. Nichts, was ich nochmal höen würde. 2/5

Not a huge fan, it was just a constant droning noise in the background

Hmm, wel vet ofzo Maar ben gwn niet zo'n Radiohead fan Wel vette album cover

This is music for depressed college students.

When I was younger, I used to watch Hannah Montana and there was this episode where Lily and Oliver fought over Radiohead and Coldplay. Ever since then, I have wanted to like Radiohead. I cannot. This is so boring. This is like black and white music.

Radiohead just doesn’t do it for me

Enh... I'm just not a big Radiohead fan and this album didn't do anything to change my perception of them.

I did not connect at all with this album. Poor languishing songs with repetitive beat just irritated my nerves.

This seems like a mix of "old" and "newer" Radiohead in terms of the sound. Of course, still socially conscious as ever, but the group attempts to bridge the traditional rock sounds of their "OK Computer" days with the experimental, electronic sounds from "Kid A" and after here. It's fine I guess, if not inconsistent. I've never cared for "Kid A", contrary to how others seem to feel about it, and I've always preferred Radiohead's earlier work & sound. Maybe that opinion will change as I get more Radiohead albums in this list, but I doubt it. On to the next one I guess.

Hail to the Thief, Radiohead (2003) v depressive, supposed to be political? did it have to be so obvious about it? apparently 4 out of 5 group member were simultaneously drumming on the song There, There. curious to watch a live performance of it. that song is also my favourite overall. wasn’t matching my mood of the day, didn’t excite me, and i probably won’t revisit this one. BYE 2/5

I specifically remember listening to this on a Saturday morning in 2003, and the girl living beneath me at the time asked me to turn it down but also said, "it sounds nice." While Radiohead's work has usually been pretty nebulous and rooted in a vague dissatisfaction with (then) modern life, this is a much more pointed attack on Bush and Blair's war on terror. It veers even further away from their rock beginnings and down the experimental path of Kid A and Amnesiac, leaning into Johnny Greenwood's soundtrack work at times. Great to start with, but it soon becomes boring and cloying. About a third of the way into this album is exactly when Radiohead ran out of ideas.

Now I do generally enjoy Radiohead, but this album feels like a load of dull, self-indulgent wankery. This album feels like something a middle class uni student who likes to pretend they have a personality by making 'deep meaningful music' that is actually just not very good, but they think they are the greatest musician to ever get money from daddy's wallet. I don't really like it.

Never been a Radiohead fan, unfortunately it doesn't change with this album

I continue to try and get into/enjoy Radiohead but I just don't like it. Thom Yorke's vocals are difficult and I feel like I need to be in a very specific mood for them. I know there are better Radiohead albums out there as well so this one doesn't score too well for me. 4.5/10 (2.25/5)

I always want to like Radiohead. I just don't. This album is meh for me.

Every Radiohead song sounds the same.

Opening track made me think this would be a heavier album but I was wrong, felt very all over the place. If I plan on having a cry in the future I’ll put this on tho

This is the last album I bought a physical copy of. I bought it on CD in a garage, then played it once while driving, hated it, stuck it in the glove compartment, forgot about it. I love OK Computer and the albums before that. I detested everything that came after, with this album probably being a low point. It feels like it might be good if I listened to it over and over, but I just don't want to make a chore out of something I should enjoy. Maybe I just need to make more of an effort, or maybe this is just an awful album?

I typically like this genre, but the lead singer is so grating to listen to.

The voice just grates at my ears. Radiohead is just mopey to my ears. I'm sure there's some great depth to the actual lyrics but that's not what I listen to so it just doesn't land for me.

It was okay, but not something I enjoyed much. Would not put it in my rotation. Just kind of blah to me.

Hail To the Sleep

Radiohead does not do it for me, and this is a weaker offering of theirs.

A little too out there for me. Not their best work

This one is not for me. I found listening to it relegated to background music, I was seldom drawn in and the vocals were irritating at times. There were a few bright spots but otherwise......no.

This music sounds like depression to me.

Just don’t like Radiohead.

Overall... fine. A few tracks I'll come back to, and while there were some pretty neat and interesting ideas here, a lot of it just grew too bland or samey, and most tracks just faded to the background of my attention, despite my efforts to keep them at the forefront. There just wasn't much I could really latch onto unlike the other Radiohead albums I've heard thus far on this list.

Not really for me

eso lightheaded electro rock

Not a real Radiohead album in my opinion. More a collection of thoughts, try-outs, doodles, kinda very Yorke-centred, like b-sides from one of his solo albums. „There, there“ is really great though.

There are two kinds of Radioheads. The cool, rocky "The Bends" Radiohead, with cool riffs and stuff like that, and the lousy, whimpering, cry-baby Radiohead. I think it's clear where I think this one belongs to. 1.6* (round up to two)

Maybe you love this, fine, but I just don't. Please don't make me listen to any more.

I don’t think I would want to sit and listen to this. Too conceptual too actually enjoy .

There are better Radiohead records out there, as this one bored me through most of its runtime. Some interesting grooves and time signatures, but overall a flat record.

Wasn't too impressed with this album.

Way too much Radiohead on this list… 4/50 albums so far have been radio head…

This is a first time listen for me. I've enjoyed other Radiohead albums, but this one didn't connect with me. I barely liked a few songs. I would not have regrets if I did not hear this before I die.

I really like The Bends. This album isn’t as good as the bends. It’s actually shockingly boring, with a few very good moments sprinkled here and there Myxomatosis is a good song.

Please stop making me listen to Radiohead. They aren’t getting better.

Lame. Scott Tenorman can keep all the Radiohead

I think with more caffeine and attention I could grow to like this album. Reading the wiki on it, it seems like a strong concept album. But in actuality I just couldn't get into it. Too slow and droning for my tastes.

I fluctuated between 2 and 4 stars for this album... overall I didn't liked, but I have to admit, there are quite a few bangbangs on here. Sorry Radiohead. I really like some of your songs, but a full album not so much. Songs I liked: "2 + 2 = 5", Where I End and You Begin ... "Myxomatosis" is also okay.

Radiohead for me falls firmly in the camp of bands that I should like but just don't. I have tried on multiple occasions to look deeper into their catalog to find something that I latch onto, to no avail. In my heart I know the songs are technically and musically "good", even some I find enjoyable like this album's opener "2+2=5", but ultimately I don't find this band to be for me. Some elements I will give credit to are Thom Yorke's vocals and some of the synthy/electro-rock elements to be interesting. Overall though, while I recognize their merit and don't disparage anyone to whom this band is important, but I don't think I'll be revisiting Radiohead. 5/10

We get it - Thom is a genius. But I don't fuckin get it. Everything after ok computer is kinda garbage. There, there was a good rip.

A solid radiohead album, but in comparison to their other work this feels less iconic and less memorable. An interesting listen, but not one I'll remember.

Amazing how much a band's sound can change in three years, and not always for the better. While Radiohead has some interesting ambient instrumentation and drum work on this record, the vocals have taken a significant noise dive from their previous works. Whining, repetitive, slurred, uninspiring nonsense for 14 tracks. I wish the rest of the music was interesting or enjoyable enough to make up for the bad singing, but sadly, not quite. Stand out tracks include \"2 + 2 = 5\", \"Sail To The Moon\", \"There, There\" and \"Myxomatosis\".

This album just didn’t click for me. Radiohead is very hit or miss and unfortunately this one was a miss

Not my style

Thom Yorke has some wailing thoughts and some distorted guitars. 2.3/5

Radiohead has some of the best albums ever made. But this one didn’t blow me away like others. Few good songs, but overall not great.. His voice gets annoying and whiny sometimes. Too bad I was expecting something better.

why does this music sound so depressing

Not the worst Radiohead but still shit

Garbage

Tbh a bit non descript, preferred earlier albums

Entirely Forgettable

Meh. Radiohead. Boring, whiny, repetitive. Weird, but not in a good way. It's not the worst thing I've ever heard, but, I'd never choose to listen to this.

Wolf at the door

I enjoyed a couple songs and hated a couple.

Okay….

Just not into this selection. Lots of noise but made no sense.

Radiohead is a band that I have been listening to for nearly 31 years.... ...and yet, none of their albums do anything for me. I respect what their music seems to do for other fans. And I am glad those fans have their outlet. Personally, I only enjoy a handful of their songs, the songs that most Radiohead fans would probably cringe about. HAIL TO THE THIEF is not for me.

Not a big fan of Radiohead really. Couldn't get into their off tempo sound.

Has to be my least favourite Radiohead album (haven't really listened to the debut). It's just a mess of half-ideas, throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. The ballads are all pretty dull, you do get some bangers like 'Where I End...' and 'There There', but most of it is pretty tough to get through, at least compared to how good their other albums are. No idea why this is in the list when you've already got OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows. That's all the essentials anyone needs.

Reminds me quite a lot of Shinjuku Mad, which I quite like. But this doesn't have the same energy and excitement, so comes across a bit flat.

I have never really been a fan of Radiohead, and Hail to the Thief does not change that for me. There are moments where individual songs are perfectly fine, but as a full album it feels overly long and a bit repetitive. The mood rarely shifts enough to fully pull me in, and after a while many of the tracks start to blur together. I can hear the ambition and the political edge running through it, and I respect what they are trying to do. It just does not connect with me emotionally. A lot of it sits in that space of being OK rather than memorable. Favourite track: None that truly stood out Least favourite: The overall sound becomes repetitive over the length of the album Album artwork: Distinctive and bold, certainly more striking than the music for me

Radiohead ist overrated

Doesn’t really say anything to me but yeah okay.

Not my cup of tea

This is the second Radiohead album I have listened to because of this website. I have to say, I still don’t like them. None of the songs stood out to me and most I didn’t want to listen again. I did like: Go to Sleep though. I can’t tell if this was worse than Kid A but regardless I won’t listen again.

Wtf did I listen to 😆

I just don't get how they're so acclaimed

Very weird album...technically proficient but what mood do I have to be in to enjoy this??? I'm not going to be singing along with these songs anytime soon. This is definitely Portland why am I alive music.

Too melancholy for me

Melodic album with some decent songs. 2

Not my favorite Radiohead album by far....

Not my cup of tea.

This album is not really a serve I'm not really liking it. It's not very Lana del Rey which is what I mainly listen too

Experimental

Meh. Too whiny.

Thought I would like it better but didn't much like at all. Mostly slow and depressing to me.

Not my taste. It gave me depressions and i felt uncomfortable while listening to it.

Is Radiohead considered Emo? This felt very emo.

Definitely a Radiohead album. I enjoyed this album well enough but it wasn't my favorite album by them. There were a few songs that stood out to me but jone on the level of OK Computer, The Bends or Kid A. Overall I probably won't be coming back to this album too much but I will still come back to Radiohead.

Overall it felt very one-note. All the songs felt like they were exactly the same, causing this to seem like it went on forever.

yuck. 1.79

Didn't really enjoy this one. I wanted to, but so much of it was rumbly and winding and slow and boring, I just couldn't get into it.

honestly, not really my vibe and i can't really tell when one song ends and another one starts

Eh, not my favourite Radiohead it has to be said.

Never really listened to Radiohead. I know what they sound like and know people really dig em. They just never really clicked for me. I think it has been a combination of not liking some of the vocals and mixed feelings on the instrumentals. There were a couple songs I did enjoy on this album like “2+2=5” and “Sit down stand up”. I really did not like “Backdrifts” at all. Then there were songs like “We Suck Young Blood” that I hated. I feel like the singer to Radiohead jacks it to his own voice. He doesn’t really have the greatest voice, I mean it’s ok, but the way he isolates himself and puts the spotlight on his vocals is pretentious and annoying, especially when it all kind of sounds the same (not just this album but any Radiohead song I have heard). 3/10

Got the full album experience while doing data sorts at work. I am familiary with Radiohead but this was not what I was expecting. Really did not impress me. It just was there. I would probably not listen again.

No singles, whiny and loud. I don't get Radiohead.

Am I missing something here? Either I'm completely out of touch, or Radiohead is one of the most overrated bands ever. Like I'm 725+ albums deep and this is the 5th one of theirs on here. If the first four didn't do it for me, this one won't either. Album was just meh to ok... kind of like the rest of their music. It's all the same... droning on and on unintelligible lyrics with wonky instrumentals. 3/10.

Having been pleasantly surprised by OK Computer, this is more like what I imagined Radiohead would sound like, and it has just left me absolutely cold. Dreary, anaemic tunes, nothing stood out. Instantly forgettable

pff knew I never liked them, this confirmed it

I feel like there's something in supposed to 'get' about this album that I just don't. Unlistenably weird in a few places.

Which of the list's Radioheys is this, Sleepy, Happy, Dopey, Bashful, Berkshire or Dave? There’s always at least one song I like on these albums, There There in this case. The rest is a bric a brac of gourmet elements shotgunned against a white gallery wall beside explanatory text autogenerated by a bored curator, secretly playing artfuck bullshit bingo. I like the soundtrack work of Greenwood’s I’ve heard, and having somehow seen them twice for free I must report that they were fun when I bothered to watch. Plus, from a chat with members of their long-time road crew when I couldn’t be bothered to watch, they sound like nice people. Simon, advance trigger warning: other RH records on this list may push me above 2 - please don’t shun me!

Eerie.

Couldn’t convince myself to like anything from this album. Most songs are all over the place and melodically poor. Some songs have redeeming qualities but the mumbled vocals and odd additions ruin it.

Boring!

I know I'll be exiled for this, but I didn't like this album. Chaotic, discordant, all over the place, whiny. Some pretty good songs on there, but mostly not really for me.

just not for me

Favourite songs: Where I End and You Begin; A Punch Up at a Wedding;

OK album, I guess. I don't see what all the adulation is about with Radiohead. Musically, this album seems very experimental. The vocals are boring. For me, it's just meh.

Radiohead enjoyers confuse me. It’s gonna be a no from me..

Radiohead are not my thing I'm afraid :(

some more interesting instrumentals on this one but radiohead loves to put just awful songs on their albums

Not a huge Radiohead fan. The music was alright, personally hate Thom's voice.

I cannot abide Radiohead.

Some enjoyable moments. But, not enough.

It's okay I guess. Nothing made me feel particularly like it was the most interesting or useful album that Radiohead have done.

Wasn't a Radiohead fan before listening to this album, and nothing about this album changed my mind.

Oh geez. They are trying really hard to put me to sleep with this album.

Bit average and a too experimental for me

Thom Yorke is the whiniest white boy I've heard since John Lennon. Radiohead be like: beep boop society I be like: beep boop 2/5

Boring and whiney. Having said that I really liked there, there. I never really got on the radiohead train like some of my HS friends who are obsessed. anyway here’s a 2

I've listened to other Radio Head albums and enjoyed them. If I would have listened to this one first I wouldn't have given them another chance

Muzikaal veel saaier, zang is veel zeikeriger... Mijn god... FAVO: Sail to the moon

dad disliked dis.

quite optimistic with the opening few songs, but quickly became a standard radiohead album for me- vocally can be great in places but spends most of the time slow and dreary

Thom Yorke's vocals are decent but this album is the start of the decline for me. We Suck Young Blood is where it gets a bit much vocal fry and I want him to clear his throat with a hot cup of tea with lemon. Side note, "A Punch Up At a Wedding" is a great song name. Interesting Songs 2 + 2 = 5 There, There I Will Myxomatosis Skipped Songs We Suck Young Blood The Gloaming

I've yet to hear a radiohead song which is better than okay.

já ouvi e dei um 2 em 5

Although some parts are quite interesting, I'm not really a fan of this album. Too experimental and noisy.

Genres: Alternative rock, art rock, experimental rock, electronic rock Formed: Abingdon, Oxfordshire in 1985 Run time: 14 songs, 56 min, 35 sec The sixth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead. Spotify: Least popular song: over 8.3M Most popular song: Track 9, “There, There” with over 18.8M plays. The songs are always imaginative and laden with metaphors, whilst they comment on our place in the world. The album has a very “atmospheric” feel to it, but the tone is always a little morrose and feels self-indulgent. They play Radiohead tracks in Swiss clinics, in case anyone is having doubts or second thoughts. They haven’t lost a sale since! It probably deserves more than 2 stars, but I just can’t. Lots of people love them, but not me. Listen Again?: No My Rating: **

Rock. Electrónica. Experimental.

Cały album wycia

third radiohead album as part of this project, and i don't know what they did here. it sure isn't the worst i've heard on this list, but i know that radiohead can do better. hail to the thief has a more experimental vibe than i realized radiohead had. it's super artistic and off the wall, which usually i admire. but this album seems to just be a moody, bleak mess. the droning voice did them no favors here. bummer.

Boring

Not good. And I can't shake the association of Thom Yorke's voice with Herbert's from Family Guy: https://thomyorkesingslikeherbertfromfamilyguy.ytmnd.com/

Big sad boy hours 😩 just wasn’t my cup of tea

didn't mind this one, i really liked Backdrifts, The Bloaming, and There, there

OK Computer was peak for me. This just sounds like a rambling mess with hints of music.

Radiohead is rock for music theory nerds. I think there’s 3-4 more well known and well regarded RH albums so not sure why this made the list. Thom Yorke’s voice is also too whiny.

Patchy - some good songs

Put it on, promptly forgot it was on. Can't say it was incredibly engaging.

This will be the second Radiohead album I’ve reviewed. In Rainbows didn’t really blow me away, so I’m a little apprehensive about today’s album too. Radiohead are a very loved band, and I’ve yet to understand exactly why that is. Songs I already knew: none Favourites: Sail To The Mood It’s starting to feel like there is some kind of in-joke that I’m not part of, where everybody secretly agrees that Radiohead is amazing just to fool people. Honestly, this album was very ok. Nothing less, but nothing more too. There were parts that sounded nice, and parts that sounded annoying. Thom Yorke’s caterwauling can get quite tiresome, and I’m honestly struggling to see where the alleged amazing music is. This album isn’t bad by any means, but it’s far from amazing. I doubt I’ll be listening again, and I don’t feel it’s really impacted me I’m any way, aside from affirming that Radiohead are somewhat overrated.

Gloomy and eerie. I like Radiohead but this is mean.

Second album by Radiohead I've listened to and even though I gave Ok Computer a 4 I still wasn't sure what I thought of the band and whether they were good or not. Ok Computer had some actual good songs that kind of masked my complains with the band and the theme of the album was also very interesting. However this album shows the band in a worse light with the issues I had originally becoming more visible. Mainly I can understand hardly anything that's being sung and most of the songs pretty much have the same droney sound to it and are very forgettable. There will probably be more Radiohead to come so I guess I'll see how this opinion evolves further

I continue to fail to understand Radiohead, even after the 4th or so album. This one, just like the previous one, was just too monotonous and boring, basically consisting of almost an hour of the same electronic ambiance sounds and a singer whose count of long "woooooooaaaaaaahs" must easily be in the triple digits

Not my favourite or maybe just doesn't fit my mood right now🤔

Broody alt rock

2.75/5

Ugh, everything post The Bends is whiny, miserably, boring pap. Most over rated band ever?

What am I missing? Most Radiohead that I hear I just ask myself "Why does this band exist?" This album would be best paired with watching grass grow.

There is so little to like about this album for me. It’s noisy and not nearly musical enough. Radiohead is one of those bands I truly don’t “get”.

I really enjoyed a few songs on this album (2+2=5 and Sail To The Moon) but found the overall effect to be a bit too whiny for me. It took several attempts for me to get through the whole album over a few weeks. 56 minutes felt like 56 hours. There were also some tracks on here that I really truly hated (The Gloaming was dreadful). An honestly painful listening experience at some points, and not at all what I anticipated based on my previous experiences of Radiohead (which has always been limited to their hits). Best tracks: 2+2=5, Sail To The Moon, I Will, A Wolf At The Door Worst tracks: Backdrifts, Go To Sleep, The Gloaming (my ears hurt) 2.5 stars, rounded down lol

It started off mediocre- but then got AWFUL. The songs ended up making me so infuriated it really set off the mood for the day. If this is supposed to be a quirky album it was and not in a good way. BOO. I thought it would be good but it was way too long.

2/5. Wish I could be into this one but it drags on too long without going anywhere. Some good songs but feels quite bloated at times.

I'm going to guess that the entire Radiohead catalogue is on this list if this album is on there. More whiney dribble played over non-original "experimental" music from perhaps the most overrated band in history. Few tracks are tolerable hence the 2 stars.

Very experimental, very depressing. "Sail To the Moon" reminded me a bit of Pink Floyd, but there was nothing about that song (or any others) that were memorable.

Didn't hate this as much as In Rainbows, as there were occasional hints of a tune behind the noodling. Still has that awful whine going on - surely no-one can enjoy the "singing" attempted here? And there are far better examples of drone/electronica/experimental music since the late '60s. Highly over-rated crap as ever!

Bruuuh

Unfortunately, this isn't my Radiohead album. I'm not sure what it is, it's perhaps too experimental, depressing, dystopian. We're used to that from Radiohead to some degree, but this album just doesn't hit the balance right for me.

There isn't much to love here, is there? I have difficulty rating this album, because it does get better towards the end, but the first half is just awful. Ultimately, it gets 2 stars, just because Radiohead (and music in general) has so much better to offer.

Overrated, as with most of Radioheads work.

Thom Yorke's vocal style and the band's general weirdness are absolutely not my jam.

I just don’t really care about this album, honestly

Radiohead did something other than Creep? Oh, no wonder I’ve never heard of it.

Not for me. Have never listened to this, or indeed any other Radiohead album, before. I thought Creep was a great song but that’s about where it ends. Not keen on Yorke’s voice. Instrumentation was often interesting but overall I found the songs to be boring. Didn’t mind Go To Sleep, but I almost did.

horrível

Nope, not to my taste. Very random, sometimes non-musical album.

Not for me, completely dull. Not much of a Radiohead fan as it is but this is the least interesting album of theirs I've heard

muddled.

I don't like Radiohead. 4 or 5/10

Not my favorite Radiohead album. Some of the songs were decent but I found myself skipping quite a few. I'd put this at the bottom of the Radiohead list for sure.

My boys in RH got a lil artsy fartsy. Mostly felt like I was passing a stone!

I did not enjoy that. It didn't hurt my ears or make me want to smash things like Linkin Park did. It was just sort of there, as a vague, winey hum in the background. I don't ever need to hear that again, honestly. But it gets rated higher than LP because it didn't make me wish that a meteor would crash through my house and destroy my Alexa.

Love the band, nothing the album

I really like There, There as a standalone song, the rhythm and the way the guitar punctuates the voice and the beat. I think they were trying something new with this at the time, but for me it hasn’t aged well. And old Thom’s voice just doesn’t do it for me - is too monotonous and whiney for a whole album of listening.

This is a weird album to include on this list. I love Radiohead but this is in the bottom grouping rating their albums. I remember at the time thinking this was more of a return to straight songs after the Kid A/Amnesiac experimental albums, but listening to it again it seems like an extension of those records. It's hard not to feel like all these tracks are just meandering experiments not really going anywhere. I remember listening to this a bit when it came out and then never really going back to it. Now I remember why.

While I wholeheartedly believe that OK Computer is one of the greatest albums ever written and will certainly give it a 5 when it come up on my list, I do not enjoy much of their work that came after. I do admit the fact that it is largely due to my distaste for electronica, in fact my summary lists it as my worst genre. That being said I do feel there is a reason this album isn't as well known as their other albums like The Bends or Pablo Honey, or even their electronica albums of Kid A or In Rainbows. It feels like a lot less of a complete album as the other, its folly is likely that it was recorded in roughly two weeks. I think it also leans too heavily on the electronics at times, but I am impressed that they were mostly live recordings rather than overdubs. The electronics are overwhelming on some tracks and when they aren't, Thom often uses the whiney voice that I just despise to hear on any album. "We Suck Young Blood" is a good example of this, it is a lovely bass and piano song that is simple and erie with a surprising but wonderful uptempo break in the middle, but the song is just ruined by the whine. Though I did not love the album it did have some favorable parts. The message of course is good I love when people take the opportunity to chastise the failings of George W. Bush, I mean I was a Green Day kid that loved American Idiot. I also enjoy the bass work that drives a lot of the songs. The tracks that incorporate what you might consider more typical rock aspects are also more appealing to me. While I didn't hate the album the listening fatigue set in quick. I do feel as though my hatred of electronica is jading my perspective in giving it a low rating. Towards the end I started to appreciate it more for some of the musicality, but the fatigue made it too hard to give a second chance. Maybe it'll be one I revisit when I finish the list or after I give more of Radiohead's electronica albums a closer listen. It probably deserves better than a 2, but today that is just what it gets.

Still whiney.

While I can appreciate Radiohead's unique sound, largely due to Thom Yorke's creative genius, their music does very little for me. I find Thom's falsetto singing to be very whiny, and this album to be flat and depressing.

Just felt this album was difficult and tedious to listen to

Pieno di generi diversi, tutti tendenzialmente brutti. BAH

not my vibe - too ethereal

First listen. LIke the other Radiohead albums, it takes some time for me to get to know it. 2.5/5 for now...

Incel rock. Radiohead has 2 good albums and this was not one of them

Listening to Radiohead is like going to an elementary school talent show. Some kid gets on stage and starts singing, he's forgetting all the words, mumbling through everything, and he's clearly on the verge of wetting himself, but you can't get up to leave because if you do he'll start crying.

Trash. Second reccomended album and it was a bad choice. Never been a fan of Radiohead. Very slow songs. Very whiney vocals and pitch is unappealing to my ears. 1/5.

Yikes. Radiohead isn't that great and this is by far the worst album.

This sucks

Oscillated violently between strange & ethereal + atonal & noisy.

A true terrible album. There wasn't one enjoyable song on here. I hated it from beginning to end. If I could give it negative stars I would.

Challenging listen. I don't have anything positive to say about this.

The editor of this list is one lazy piece of shit. Absolutely no justification for another Radiohead album to be here .

It is I the Radiohead hater, this album sucks.

Scott Tenorman's parents died for this?

THE most overrated band in rocks history and they ll have all their albums in the list , they must be paying good money to PR

I don’t get these guys at all.

Not sure why this Radiohead album was chosen to be on this list. OK Computer was probably the best album released in the past 30 years. Kid A was almost as good. This was a difficult listen.

Hmmm...I kinda get it but.. not my thing

This long and monotonous album seems like it had two distinct musical styles. The first was metallic and echoey and boring. The second was whiny and boring. I gave each of the musical styles half a point each. Half plus half equals one.

Really not for me

not my thing 1/5

An excruciating assault on the ears.

God I hate radiohead.

Not my thing

Hail to the end of this album. I cannot understand the appeal of listening to whining with a soundtrack.

Never been a Radiohead fan. Well, they had 2 good songs in their whole career. I would categorise the music as softy rock. Unfortunately the vocals are dragging down the music. It’s like an always melancholic whiny voice dominating every song. Music for pussies

These guys sound like The Cure if the Cure was no fun and had no whimsy.

Never got into them.

Not fan of band

fuck em

Whiny bullcrap. Wouldn’t be surprised if this guys kills himself.

I hate RadioHead

"Sit Down. Stand Up" is a claustrophobic mess. Hurts my ears. Otherwise somewhat less offensive, but it's got all that classic Radiohead sound that I'm not a fan of. Don't like Thom Yorke's whiny little voice, there's nearly always a little bit too much going on in the background... "Go to Sleep" is a bit of a nice reprieve as it leaves a little bit more room to breathe. "Myxomatosis" is also kind of OK. They could've cut a couple words out of the title "We Suck Young Blood".

wannabe experimental unentertaining, dull, "There, there" and "A wolf at the door" somewhat better

I don't like Radiohead but I acknowledge their talent but this album doesn't show off their talent and is not interesting

Nope, not what I want from music.

Great, more Radiohead. I hope this is the last of it. 2 + 2 = 5, Go To Sleep, Scatterbrain, and A Wolf At The Door have nice music, but I just don't like the lead singer. The rest of the album is all forgettable. The only good part was A Punch Up At A Wedding, that one had some great piano work. Best song: A Punch Up At A Wedding

Couldn’t do it. Whinest voice there is

I did not enjoy this album. It sounded like it was being recorded underwater and the artist sounded high. Not my vibe at all. It was painful to listen through.

He can't sing. It doesn't matter what the lyrics are because he also can't enunciate. The music could be good if it wasn't a meandering mess. I don't get it, and I'm really ok with that.

If indie did prog rock then this is it, self indulgent with nothing for the mob. I imagine a lot of critics will love it for that but for me it's an album you are supposed to like and you end up clinging to snippets of excellence.

What is it you incels see in this crap?

I have never listened to Radiohead before. Today, I learned I don't like Radiohead.

I don't like Radiohead, and I don't have to. And it's mostly because I don't like Thom Yorke as a singer. Once again, on this album, he's just not singing well, and I don't like it. It makes the music hard for me to listen to. I like plenty of experimental music, but when it comes to Radiohead they just seem to ignore giving the audience anything to hold onto which bears any resemblance to non-experimental music. What do I mean by that? Radiohead are described as being a rock band, at least at some level. But where's the rock? This is so far outside rock, and everything else for that matter, that it's just tough to find a way into understanding it. Any other band that cites Radiohead as an influence often has much more of a rock underpinning, with experimental elements, and the results are much more enjoyable. With Radiohead, their albums regularly feel almost completely forgettable as result. Even when they come close to something more enjoyable as normal music, that's when Thom's singing is even worse. I don't see a point in listening to this again.

Not a radiohead man at all. Don't use my rating to decide if you should listen

Radiohead meet Neil Young and the Who in the I Don't Understand the Hype Room of the 1001 Albums Generator Inn. If there's anything redeeming about this it's that it's about my own personal fixation, the war on terror.

I think I must have once made a list of everything I like about music and Radiohead stole that list and has made it their mission to do the absolute opposite of everything on that list for their entire career just to mess with me. I hate everything about the world that has happened since about the year 2000, but one recent development that I’ve very much enjoyed is that the people who make “Israel is bad” their entire personality and Radiohead have been beefing and it’s always nice when the two most annoying people in the world start feuding. It’s like Laura Loomer v. MTG or Trump v. Elon. Like, yes, fight fight fight! Also can both of you lose? They’re like the Highlander of being obnoxious. There can be only one!

I'll say it again: I don't get Radiohead. Most of their songs are incredibly grating and irritating. I think A Punch Up At A Wedding might have been the one exception on this album, but, I'm not adding it to any playlists.

I always wonder who the target audience is for this type of music. Cause I sure ain't it

Mental illness!!!!!

Not a fan of this album at all. Couldn’t even get through one full song.

Büro, Heidenheim, Deutschland. Übelst grottig turbomies.

Look I promise I’m not that big of a hater but I just don’t understand why anyone enjoys this band. This is the third album by Radiohead I’ve gotten and they’re getting worse I swear. I hated this album, unlike the other albums I got there was not really one redeeming track here, this was nonstop boredom with the occasional earbleeding bit. And Jesus Christ why the hell is Thom Yorke’s voice so goddamn whiny, I really hated this album

Dullest album I've ever heard

This album sucked!!!

Nah. Why does this generator keep recommending Radiohead albums? Is this terrible band really that popular?

I've always found Radiohead to be one of the most overrated bands of all time. This is the first album of the 21 I've heard so far in this project that I continually kept checking to see when it would end. If you like an album full of five minute long songs that all sound like the backing track for a third-party early Playstation 2 game, this is for you.

Second Radiohead album now, and this isn’t helping with my absolute confusion why everyone keeps telling me they are in GOAT contention. As someone else put it, the fans of the band imply a required intellectual depth to appreciate it's supposed complexity, well let's be honest it's not exactly full orchestra is it or intricate narrative. relistening at this moment, the Sleep song is on and that's a general rock combo arrangement, no more or less than most others, which is ok, it is ok but not earth shaking either. Got to admit my own bias here, with all the critic and social hype around this band I'm expecting so much, to be fair too probably much; to be moved, or blown away. And I'm just finding it all a bit tedious, some ok rock arrangement or minimal electronic arrangement with his vocals, that are just, don't want to use the wh.. word because been said by many, but they are. I'm just not getting it at all, don't hate the band after 2 albums Guess not going to be a Radiohead fan either. 1.5 Star

Annoying AF. I wanted to like it but both the music and the voice were annoying. I couldn’t get past it!

to put this crap after The Beatles is insulting and offensive.
