The Singles do not represent the album tracks which made the album a little disappointing, but dang she has pipes!
The Who did a rock opera and AquaLung was what happened when a 4 track recorder got turned on and no-one turned it off for 5 days.
Classic. He was just getting warmed up
For techno pop that was a hard listen. It did not have a beat you could dance to and felt disjointed.
Album appropriately named for happy and sad early Rock & Roll ballads
definitely music for the young man
Good version of a protest album
Technical skills demonstrated at the expense of an audience.
Classic 70's. and awesome
Not fully digitized. Erin found it on YouTube. Super combination of Johnny Rotten's anger mixed with the Monkey's melodies, and German beer.
very 70s folk rock. I think the hush puppies on the album cover sum it up well
I guess dating the Rolling Stones was once good for a career. This album sounds like pre-punk European protest music.
Still mad i missed this concert. Loved the album
Robin said it was good. Travel day, missed it.
This is what happens when a Salvador Dali painting makes sound.
the "I really want to be the Berry Manilow of my generation" album that no-one knew they were missing. Why do we need to be so dramatic?
That was way cooler than the name implied.
The Start of Something Big.
Enter Sandman.. I never recovered
Sounds like ambient piano music for bedtime.
Well, Babylon. and on. and on. and on. and on. and on
This is Rock & Roll's response to the beastie boys. And i love it.
Found on YouTube. That sound is soooo chill.
innovators for sure and inspiration for years of sound. Fits with tech/syfy of the time. But i hope this type of techno pop does not return.
far more range than i anticipated. And totally bad ass.
Frantic. "the greatest band you've never heard of"
If you listen closely, there are guitar cords that will reappear on Queen's 1975 album A Night at the Opera. Turns Queen opened for the Sparks in '73.
I think they were still stoned when this was recorded. That was a difficult listen.
This sounds like kids recording their first month with new electric instruments trying to make the worst noise possible.
Like listening to garage band grow-up one track at a time
This is the inspiration for David Lee Roth!? I prefer the original! This album is full of great songs.
Found on YouTube. Unbelievable music.
Freaking awesome. Black Sabath. They were great musicians too.
Feels like the Monkeys got sad and inspired Elliot to share his sadness with all of us.
So dramatic. I am pretty sure this could have been cut in the first edit of the book. They really should not have covered the Boss. Too many covers to be influential.
Such a prolific song writer! album not on spotify, but i found it on youtube
just as described. Made me crave an overpriced cocktail (a double for just $2).
I liked this Punk version of the Pretenders a lot more than the Pop version that came later.
Folksy but did not grab my attention.
The Greatest Cover Band Ever!!!
Further Evidence that not everything should be recorded.
These angry young Irishmen were awesome and now I want a pint. Kirsy MacColl was a great add!
So good in my angry teenage boy phase. That was a long time ago though.
Tainted Love has been and remains one of my favorite songs.
I think we found the inspiration for the Violent Femmes
New Age meets Jazz funk. I forgot how good they were.
There is a fine line between Mr. Fagen solo stuff and his Steely Dan musings.
I would have bet that the Intro was from the Chainsmokers.
I think one era of grunge rock was enough.
Not the Suzanne Vega album I would have choosen.
no i understand why I never heard of eels
Much better than album than the single suggests.
How did this make the list? This is just horrible.
another piece from the experimental period of Rock and Roll.
I forgot how much I missed this!
may have been cool to see live, but not so much as a record.
Southern Rock by the B team
must we hear every album produced by members of the wu-tang clan
The Cover Art is creepy. The song writing was strong. The music, however, was not compelling enough to overcome the creepy feeling.
This should encourage all garage band musicians to believe they too can make a record. This should also convince some that they should not. This band disbanded in 2015 and I am grateful.
Ms. Jackson, and the rest.
The start of something great?
More musically interesting than i anticipated.
Album not on Spotify, but found it on youtube
