Reviews (page 7 of 8)

kinda boring, I don't like the singer's voice but nice vibe

Why is this even a thing. I didn't hate all of the instrumentals, but could not stand the vocals. The instrumentals were still just a three maximum at rare times. The rhythm of the vocals was kinda cool at times, but not cool enough for me to enjoy listening to it.

Not all that thrilling.

Vocals are inane and absolutely unpleasant. Sadly the band sounds great, excellent guitar tones and playing. Unfortunately can't hide the incredibly drony and unlistenable vocals.

Kind of rough rock/punkish music that I have never heard before. It's alright but probably not really my thing, none of the songs really stood out.

Aika tylsää

I liked this at first but grew tired of it the longer it played.

Not for me

More punk crap.

Didn’t really vibe with these

This was better than I thought it was going to be, but this band really does need a new singer. Put us out of our misery. We also need a ten-point scale to rate these albums. It’s not a 3, but it’s not a 2 either. 2.5 or 5/10.

terrible singer but instrumentals are pretty cool on a couple songs

When I came across this in the morning, I was unfamiliar with the band. Having listened to the album, I now understand why their music had never caught my attention before. It's not that good

didn't even finish, made me uncomfortable, not my style of music, had to skip a lot of songs

Favourite songs: "Another Girl, Another Planet", No Peace For The Wicked Least favourite songs: Breaking Down, It's The Truth, The Immortal Story 2/5

Not very interesting. The singers voice is a little too annoying and unpleasant at times. 2/5 Won’t listen again

the whole of the law- 4 or 5 another girl, another planet- i hate his voice. 5 breaking down- i really really hate his voice stop whispering. 4 city of fun- 4 the beast- 4 creature of doom- 4 its the only truth- 3 or 4 language problem- 3 no peace for the wicked- 3 or 4 the immortal story- 3 no more boring british people are boring

1978. For some reason this time period in music history was amazing. Punk, rock, alternative... it was all changing, molding, becoming everything it is today. Now we have stuff like trip-hop jazz techno fusion and everything and anything musically one can imagine. All thanks to these daring musicians in the 70's willing to push the envelope. The problem with The Only Ones is that they were not the only ones, and they were not reallly groundbreaking or particular in the massive crowd of musicians breaking new ground at the time. Made worse, the lead singer, maybe a wonderful human being (IDK) sounds like he is on drugs most of the time and often the jazzy fusion bits sound like noise. Unfortunately there are so many bands on the essential listening list from this time period that this album winds up pretty far down the list...

I was really thinking this would be an excellent listen based on the instruments. Then he starts singing. It like he went to the Lou Reed school of vocals and got a D in every class.

Nett - aber spricht mich nicht besonders an.

I'm enjoying this quite a bit. The vibe of the music is really good but the singing is the "I don't care" style singing of a lot of punk which usually doesn't get me engaged.

I try not to diss bands I don't connect with. Creating music is an art and takes work and commitment, so I appreciate everything the band does to get their music out there. I didn't connect with this musically. It could be the day, my mood or whatever. A for effort. Don't let my missing the point dissuade you. That said, I did enjoy The Beast.

70's punk isn't my favorite. Appreciate the history and how they transitioned the sound toward my 80's "new music" genre.

I had to stop half way through. It just wasn't doing anything for me.

Funky guys, great power pop, but I didn't find anything interesting or tasty for me.

I was a little bit puzzled by this one. They are very much one hit wonders, with the excellent single Another Girl, Another Planet that I think was re-released in the 2010s. The rest of the songs on the album don’t really live up to that, with vaguely punkish guitars and nasal vocals but nothing that stands out.

The songs are okay, I like the guitars, drums, saxophone. But as soon as the voice appears, it becomes super-annoying.

This brand of proto-punk/pop kinda music is super hit and miss for me from band to band and even track to track, and that was my experience here. The Whole of the Law? Solid. Another Girl, Another Planet? Good. Breaking Down? Full dislike. And so it goes, on and on with tracks raging from 4/5 to 1/5 for me. Overall, the inconsistent experience made the whole less than the sum of the parts for me with slower pieces not working at all with his voice and faster pieces lacking a hard enough edge to get over the top for me. It would be a 2.5 but enough tracks didn't work for me I rounded to below average.

Another disappointment. I’d heard Another Girl, Another Planet, which is a great song, and was looking forward to becoming more familiar with this band. Then the first track started… His voice is great for punk, but that only applies to 3 of the songs here, and the rest is just forgettable.

Mid. Nothing special or eye opening.

What is up with the lead singer? Did the band begrudgingly let him sing lead because he owned a van and was the only one who could get them and their gear to their gigs? He sucks and I'm at a loss to think of a lead singer who sings worse than this guy. The album was pretty crappy from the start but it managed to work its way up to an unenthusiastic "OK" despite the singer.

I really like the playing, but I don’t particularly enjoy the singing or writing. It is whiny, which is fine, and repetitive, also fine, but to be both at the same time is obnoxious and one-note when each song feels like that.

The good news is this actually started reasonably decently. The intro of "The Whole of the Law" has this great jazzy trumpet intro (which does not happen again on the rest of the album), and then "Another Girl, Another Planet" (their biggest song by far) is pretty fun. The bad news is it just totally collapses after that, very little redeeming qualities, with two exceptions: "No Peace For The Wicked" was kind of interesting, and "Peter And The Pets" (which was not on the original release) has this quick guitar succession thing that's kind of cool. If you squint really hard the singer sounds just a bit like Lou Reed, but if Lou Reed was British and a bad singer. He has this very mopey British voice, I'm not really into it, "Breaking Down" is a pretty tough listen. Like three times they were jamming with no vocals and I was like "this is ok," then he started singing again and I was like "oh, right". I'm throwing this a 2 because it had a few songs worth listening to, but outside of them I could've been ok missing out on this one. Favorite song: Another Girl, Another Planet Other: The Whole Of The Law, No Peace For The Wicked, Peter And The Pets 1/2/24

Not a favourite.

Pretty obnoxious watered down punk but some of the guitar licks were fun

That wasnt very good

The first track started with some promise but then the singer had to open his mouth. I didn't enjoy most of the tracks because I found his singing to be pretty awful. Highlights: Another Girl, Another Planet City of Fun

Ok album but nothing special

I just couldn't get behind this singer's voice 😕 some of the instrumentals were pretty good

Hmm, never heard of these blokes. (I'm guessing they're Brittish) I was right. The voice sounds a bit like Violent Femmes.

It feels like a band that seems to be in between genres and probably brought about other bands. I think I respect the band, but I don't think I like to listen to it.

Never heard of this band before. Sounds pretty ahead of their time. They were mixing some early punk sounds with what would later become known as alternative rock. I can tell this influenced bands that would come later like Violent Femmes, and even influenced genres such as Britpop. That being said, I wasn't a huge fan of this record. The instrumentation is alright, but the singer's voice threw me off. Nonetheless, I understand why it is on this list.

Generic 2/5

Another girl, Another planet was a clear standout, the rest I wasn't really into.

It sounds good overall but just not for me I guess. The singers voice isn't the best but I usually like that out of tune voice to compliment the technical instruments. Here it just doesn't work that well.

Don't like his voice

Creature of the night...cool wah bass. Bass and guitar play together really well. The beast...awesome guitar solo but not worth sitting through the first 4 minutes Language Problem sounds exactly like every one else at that time. I really wanted to rate this 3 stars due to the awesome guitar and bass parts, but I could not give this a 2nd listen due to buddy's voice. Shame. There's potential there.

It's fine. It just doesn't deserve to be on a list like this. Also would benefit by replacing the lead singer.

Didn't like this singer's voice

This one was tough, I wanted to like it. It started out strong. I actually really enjoyed “Another Girl, Another Planet” and I thought the guitar was very impressive throughout. A few songs in, it began to feel very tedious to listen, I think the lead singers voice began to grate on my ears. However I’m glad I listened to the album.

Bad singing and not stunning enough musicality or lyrics to make up for it.

Mega not my jam; the guitar was sometimes cool but I had to suffer through those vocals 1.5/5

they rly started off on the wrong foot but kinda turned it around. still not my style but not awful

I find the lead singer's voice way too nasally and whiny, which is a shame because otherwise I think I would like this more. But at the same time I really don't think it's doing anything that exciting.... If I was hosting a kinda grunge house party these are the kind of songs I would use as filler in the playlist just because they fit the vibe. But I don't ever see myself seeking them out specifically.

There's not a lot here tbh apart from *that* single. It's... the only one.

Interesting proto-punk jazzy fusion album

Didn't do a lot for me. Pretty variable fayre. Sounds of its time.

Fine, couple good songs even, but I lost interest pretty quickly. Not sure even why tbh, but I'd really rather not revisit this one. 2.5 leaning 2 for me.

Meh…don’t know why I needed to hear this before I die

Pretty chill, good guitar lines. Vocals are not really my style.

Another Girl, Another Planet // 1.5/5

I flat out refuse to believe that this album is notable in any way at all. The jazzy, ska-esque opening to the album was a pretty horrible Trojan horse. The singer sounds like Johnny Rotten on downers--at times it feels like he's directly lampooning him. The instrumentals aren't half bad to be fair. Even accounting for Dimery's UK bias, this is a pretty puzzling inclusion for me.

Certainly aren't the only ones to make this kind of forgettable rock.

Singer can’t sing, and the songs are no fun

Дефолтный рок

Generic rock by numbers again. How the fuck did this get in as something I have to listen to? Not unlistenable, but hugely unmoving.

en mode aigrie tention les albums

One hit and some others. Hate the vocal style.

Acharia facilmente que era algum disco do Strokes ou similar, ou seja, o pop com alguma energia ou punk feliz vem de muito antes.

First song impressions: this singer sounds like my grandmother would sound today trying to sing through constipation. And she's dead. The music is... interesting?? Kinda surprising to be honest. But as ever: singers wreck everything. This could and should have been alright. But isn't. 4/10 2 stars.

Enn ein nýbylgjuplatan. Þetta er... allt í lagi. Vantar eitthvað upp á neistann þarna fyrir mig.

At times, very nice playing; but almost always god-awful singing. 1.5/5

Band is super tight, but the singer is just rough. This band would have been bigger if they would have had someone who didn't sound like David Spade. The further I get into this album the more I wish this guy didn't sing. I am glad it is over.

Rough around the edges punk sound, with lyrics sung in a drawly way that's almost irritating on some tracks (Breaking Down). Album would function well as background noise but not something I want to spend time listening to. Highlight would be Another Girl, Another Planet.

Ehh a pretty weak album. Some songs were good but there wasn't enough to really satisfy me.

Ouf, mes pets sonnent mieux que le chanteur. Au moins ils ont essayé

Good idea, bad execution

They’re trying very hard to do something, but I’m not quite sure what it is.

I think there were one or two songs I liked and that's it. That's a pretty meager score for an album.

A lot of songs on this album sounds like they started out with a good idea, but could only finish it in the most boring way possible.

I did indeed listen to this about a week ago and don't remember a single thing about it so I think that gives a good synopsis of my feelings on it. 3/10

This is only on there because of Another Girl, Another Planet, let's be honest. A fine track but there's only one other song worth listening to on the album, this isn't a must-listen just because of a good song. 2.

I like the single, and the track after it is kind of cool, but it's not much beyond that really. Lead singer's voice isn't great, which works okay in the more punky stuff but suffers when they try to be tuneful. 2/5.

So, would you accept one Test for Australia knowing that you'd take no wickets and score no runs? One Grand Final for Easts playing alongside Arthur knowing you only get to run on with a minute to go? Only having enough time to give Claudia Karvan a party pash before you leave the party? Of course it is a resounding yes to all those things (well..maybe not the one with Claudia..) and its the same with the one hit wonder. For all your artistic angst, passion and desires, if you were told by a time travelling Claudia Karvan that you'd only have one hit would you say yes before you tried to do more than party pash her? I think Nietzsche best summed up this dilemma when he stated "shit yeah"! Poor Pete Perrett. What makes Another Planet so good is completely missing from the rest of this record. My mind turned to Lee Mavers and The La's, another amazing one hit wonder with an absolute cracker of a one hit. It's not all shit, City of Fun swings and his voice works well where in other places it is terrible. The playing is uninspired, pedestrian, forgettable. This sounds a little like a garage band's demos where no one is brave enough to tell the songwriter he can't sing. And so George Saunders fans I really can't recommend this album as good listening while you chase the dragon to your death, though you might want to slip the one hit onto a last songs to hear before you die playlist. 2 for Another Planet.

The Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music named The Only Ones one of the 50 best punk albums of all-time, claiming that the Only Ones were "the closest thing the UK had to Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers, a laconic, shamble of a band who were, at moments, touched by a creative greatness that made you get out of the glare". By sheer coincidence, I just finished watching a documentary on Johnny Thunders literally an hour before this album popped up for me to review. And let me tell you, the Only Ones ain't no Johnny Thunders. I don't hear creative greatness, and there ain't no glare. "Another Girl, Another Planet" is a classic song, but the rest of this album I found forgettable and generally enervating.

Easily forgotten.

Icepick-in-the-ear kind of singing on this album. Instrumentals were pretty good but oof that lead singer kills everything else, and not in a good way. 5/10

Decent at times but not notable

Awful. Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Adam Sandler mash up with an upbeat rhythm guitar & horns. Not a fan but I appreciate what they were trying to do.

Hmm ihan jees! Poppia, aika basic aikansa sellaista punk(ish)-vivahteella, mutta jäi turhan himmailemaan

Another Girl, Another Planet kolahti ensimmäistä kertaa, kiva. Verta hyytävä biisi muuten. Loput levyn sisällöstä on VÄHÄN liian löysää ja epävireistä. Mikä ei sekään haittaisi, jos kappaleet olisivat... parempia.

Uhm, mostly decent musicianship from the guitarist but everything else is pretty basic, though the song composition is ok. But the lyrics are pretty simplistic and the singer's voice grates on me after about 30 seconds.

This is just dreadful. The lyrics are boring. The music is generic. The singer can’t sing for shit. Just bad.

Vervelende stem, 2*

The music is nice but the vocals really ruin in for me.

Nothing special really. Yet another 1001 album that I apparently did not have to listen to before I die

This album started off well, but by the end I was getting a bit tired of the music. I wasn't a fan of the singer's voice. I was going to give it a 3/5 but I reconsidered and think a 2/5 is closer to my thoughts.

Wasn't bad.

A nailed on 2⭐️ from the first note

I can imagine that in 1978, they and their sound probably stood out. They are definitely skilled musicians and I like their energy. I also like that they vary their approach in a few songs. Sometimes they get a little bogged down in the, not sure how to frame it, kind of "drugged up" sound I think? I know it's not easy, at least for me, to tell when a band is getting artistically exploratory or sounds like they're on something or imitating what being on something sounds like, so I admit that faulty filter straight up. All things considered, though, this is a good album. Solid tracks here and I like it.

Band sounds cool but couldn't make it past the vocals.

Idk, let's see I fucking hate the British, only thing those wankers got correct was their sport and their funny ass swears. All I've heard my entire life is "oh, the Brits make great music." "Oh, the English wave was huge". "I can't wait for one direction to run a train on me" "music didn't exist before oasis". I can't stress enough how mad I got listening to "my generation" by the who and then this. This wasn't even that bad, but it's been mid album after mid album and honestly, I'm tired of it (this is definitely my being tired at work talking). My Alzheimer's patients remember our conversations more than I'll remember this album. A very angry and disgruntled 2 stars. Nah maybe I'm being too harsh. I'll relisten to see bc "another girl another planet" is good. The whole of the law is ok too, a little slow for the whole punk vibe tho Yeah 2 stars for the number of songs worth listening to I'd like to put a sidenote putting my generation as a one star album, i needed to mull it over

Yet another indistinguishable album with absolutely nothing special about it. Please lift your game!

It was ok. I wanted to love it but nothing was catchy enough.

Truly not my style. Can see why it'd be popular, tho

Perché?

I think the me in my mid to late 20s would have liked this a lot more than the me in my 40s did.

Weinig aan.

Niet echt spectaculair.

If I ever meet Robert Dimery, this is going to be one of the many, many pointless UK shit albums I will smack him around the face with. Just before I cut his nose off with a Stanley knife and pour vinegar on the fresh wound. 2/5.

Dont know how that was associated with punk. That wasnt punk

This post punk - proto new wave album is a nice segueway for the two genres. The guitar intro to Another Girl Another planet is pretty awesome and that song rocks. It’s also the only song where the lead vocalist’s voice doesn’t annoy me. Although they first wrote The Whole of the Law I prefer Yo La Tengo’s cover better. The rest of the album isn’t very memorable unfortunately.

Alright 70s rock. A few good songs here and there but overall not that exciting.

kinda meh

From the Dylan-esque opener that falls flat with offputting vox, through some Byrds-like attempts in the middle, to some mild rock at the end, this one is hard to pin down across the board. While an idea of where the band wants to go is present, it veers a bit too much and lacks just enough direction to land.

Proto-punk that will eventually lead to the Violent Femmes and plenty of Indie rock ala Modest Mouse much later--with plenty of genre influences strung in. Yet, I can't shake the clear 70's sound that lingers. An example of how this list often focuses on early creation points, not who did it best.

Occasionally lush instrumentals with the vocals of a bored crow and the excitement of a lukewarm glass of water.

I think it was okay, this one just kinda washed over me and I don't recall much about it

I do not like the vocals in the intro track. Hope it’s not like this the whole album. Didn’t listen past 3rd song. Very pretty guitar but I couldn’t deal with the vocals

Was hoping for more like Another Girl.

forgettable, but better than a lot of 2s I've rated, so I guess it's a 2.5 for being pleasantly forgettable.

The singing was annoying and the songs were not great. There is no need to listen to this album.

Непримечательный альбом. Местами неплохой инструментал, но не более того. Совершенно не зацепило. 4 из 10.

not a fan of this. Bit too much just like random noise.

Aikamoisen joutava sikäli enää oikein muistan

No ei ollu kummonen

hm, another planet, another girl and

I don't like 'em much

Ne znam jel' do mene, al ovo mi je dosta dosadan album, nisam zadovoljan, čudi me zapravo, ima pokoja okej stvar, al mi je zaboravan.

this one just really couldnt keep my interest, i’m not sure why

It's pretty good, I'm just not super into it

2,5; very specific album, there are some songs that are very promising, but then it's kinda flat and generic, whole album wasn't unpleasant to listen, but I have an impression that I will forget all of it because there wasn't anything special, that could help differentiate the band from the other ones

Liked Another Girl Another Planet, The Beast and City of Fun, but as a whole it felt way longer than 33 minutes (not counting bonus tracks). I wasn't a fan of the vocals and felt the guitar solos were too low in the mix as they were pretty decent. Nothing terrible but not a memorable experience.

Pretty borring album tbh, althought the second song is pretty fun.

I might have enjoyed a song or two on their own, but the whole album really started to get on my nerves today. But I sense that it might have just been bad timing and that there might be the right day for some whiny British pseudo-punk, which sometimes just hits the spot. We'll see.

2nd Listen. Standouts: Breaking Down, It's the Truth, No Peace For The Wicked. From the bonus material: Peter and the Pets 2 of 5. but it has potential

Don’t do drugs, kids.

Boring.

nominally intersting

Not bad, but not great either. Probably wouldn’t turn It off.

Sounds like a demo tape.

How many British bands with monotone lead singers do we have to listen to they all sound the same

The voice sets the ceiling here and we’re on John Malkovich’s 7 1/2 floor. I do like a quite a bit of the music like Lovers Of Today. Frankly if the lyrics disappeared I would like this more as an instrumental album.

Interesting sound

I didn't really like this. It sounds somewhat psych but not good, and more new-agey. The vocals were not enjoyable.

It's fine. Think I've got a bit of 70s guitar album fatigue at the moment though - couldn't really get excited by anything on here except Another Girl, Another Planet, which might earn it a 2.5.

Boring AF.

Afschuwelijke hoes. Matig album: De zang viel tegen, maar de gitaarpartijen waren wel oké. Dus aantal keren dat ik naar dit album zal luisteren: Only Once

Another bad punk album.

Waste of time

It was okay.

The recording sounds off, and the style is not really talking to me. Interesting discovery, but I won't listen again, probably.

Another girl, another planet. Ja ma voor de rest meh

2.5 de muziek is een vibe, maar de stem vind ik vaak wat zagerig.

not my cup of cha

ok nice start. pls have a nice voice. uh. maybe i'll get used to it. well im done, didnt sound bad but quite boring, no stand out tracks.

The instrumentals were fine, but I wasn’t a fan of the vocals.

A deceiving album. On first listen I was very interested to delve in further and explore the vocals and music. On future listens I found myself questioning what it was that interested me so much. The vocals started to actually annoy me the more I listened and the music became bland. 2 Stars!

This flirted with awful to ok. 2*

Was alright

A pretty average album (couple of decent album tracks) with 1 magnificent single on it in "Another Girl, Another Planet" which actually seems pretty out of place on the rest of the album. Basically seems like the person making this list liked that one song so stuck the album on. 2/5 for an average album overall.

Not keen on this. It did not sound very nice going into my ears. It did not sound very nice at all.

Erster Song vielversprechend, Rest durchweg generisch und langweilig, wobei die recht guten gniedeligen Soloparts ziemlich klar den Ursprung meiner Abneigung entlarvten: welch verkackt schnöselig unsympathische Gesangsart/-stimme! spoiled brat gives more than 2.1

I cannot get over this guy's voice. Maybe it's a Danny Brown thing where after you hear it a million times you start to love it, but I'm not going to stick around long enough to find out.

Loved Another Girl, Another Planet. Blink 182 did a cover of it that I loved as a kid. Rest of the album was good, but nothing stood out as great

Niet echt mijn ding, maar was wel luisterbaar

Okay. Mostly.

This would be an easy three-star album for me, except for one thing: the lead singer. I. Just. Can't. With his voice. I know that's a big part of the sound, and it's supposed to be that way, but it immediately grated on me as soon as he started on the first track, and it didn't let up through the end. As such, this very nearly fell into one-star territory, but I'm going to leave it with 2.

is niks

Decent riffs, annoying vocalist

it's okay... im sorry, nothing stuck

The lead singer is tone deaf and listening to The Only Ones was pure pain.

This is clearly not one of the 1001 albums I need to listen to.

What, a bad punk album on this list? Who woulda thunk it? 1.0

Temu Lou Reed. The singers voice is just awful!

When albums like this pop up of random British rock groups that nobody has heard of outside of a few random people in London 40 years ago I try not to roll my eyes and push the pass button. I was hopeful with this one, but the barely intelligible droning of the lead singer ruined any chance of that on this one.

I cant lie, I dont get it. This album sounds generic, its all over the place stylistically, the vocals are annoying too. I understand its "influence" but i just couldnt get into it. 1.5

Glad these are the only ones.

I couldn't get past the first two songs... so terrible.

None of this worked for me but it was certainly unique.

Nope. Couldn't do it. The band? Decent enough. That singer? He cant carry a tune in a five gallon bucket strapped to a skateboard. When you hear other punk and post punk bands that can't sing, like, oh I don't know, The Violent Femmes, they at least have some energy and anger and feeling. This guy sounds like he's singing while hailing a cab. Come on man, at least try! Fuck off with this shite. My rating: 1/5.

Not for me. 1/5

Nah. This was bad.

I really hated this. Every time they let that guy open his mouth I was immediately annoyed.

#377/1001. This is supposed to be a punk / power pop masterpiece, but for me it sounds like your distant friends band at a local pub. A lot of effort here, but it all sounds like boring rock in the end.

Not a fan just boring

how is this essential

unlistenable genuinely

Forgettable as fuuuuuuuck. Wtf is this album doing on here I am so baffed, this was beyond dull

bros voice sounds like #d9e00b fave track: another girl, another planet

Just not that impressive.

Eh, it's 70s power pop. It's good, but fairly forgettable. His voice definitely grates on the nerves after a bit.

Tæt på ulidelig vokal. Det kammer helt over på Language Problems. Virkelig ringe. Dermed: 1.5

I should like these guys but.... nah

What the fuck?

I don’t know how to say this other than the vocals were very grating and I didn’t want to listen to it.

ass poo!!!!!!!!!

yeah im not gonna lie that was dogshit

You stay on this planet, I'm going

1, except for another planet which is great.

Preferred the slower songs but did not particularly enjoy any. Really annoying voices.

I struggled with this and only got half way through before skipping and just listening to a minute of the other tracks. Never heard of the band or the album before and can honestly say I won't be looking them up in the future

Wenn du denkst schlimmer gehts nicht mehr, kommt von irgendwo "The Only Ones" her... Dieses Album hätte ich heute nicht gebraucht. Auch morgen nicht. Eigentlich nie in meinem Leben. Hier holt mich wirklich rein gar nichts ab.

The singer didn't realize he should've called in sick.

Yeah, Nah!

Bro what's wrong with his voice

I like the jazziness. The vocals seems like an acquired taste…wtf are these lyrics? At least the songs are short. Another Girl, Another Planet is much better. Still not really my thing. Feels very 70s. The guitar and saxophone are hot

STOP WITH THIS BRIT GARBAGE!!!

While the musicianship is good, the main singers voice is just a bit too much for me. Like nails on a chalkboard at time

Only a One

English rock/punk band. No hits. Music boring.

Не можах да му издържа на гласа повече от 20 секунди

Nothing happens in the songs. Bland pop rock.

every song sounded the same and they all annoyed me

1. lauu - 1.5 2. planet - 1.5 3. douun - 1 4. City - 1 5. Beast - 1.5 6. Doom - 1 7. Truth - 1 8. Problem - 1 9. Peace - 1 10. Story - 1 11. Lovers - 1.5 12. Peter - 1 13. Wife - 1

This is the two hundred seventh album I’m rating. What is up with all of these weird British albums when they don’t even have basic pop punk albums like A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. Adding to my Playlist - Another Girl, Another Planet, Breaking Down, The Beast, and The Immortal Story. Not Adding to my Playlist - The Whole of the Law, City of Fun, Creature of Doom, It’s the Truth, Language Problem, and No Peace for the Wicked. All in all I liked 4/10 songs. It’s not awful but you could easily replace it with A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.

Only one star

Mmmm… Nah.

Bullshit

1 star I hate ur voice

Very forgettable.....

Oh dear, what a voice that is. Is it the mix, or does that horrible noise really drown out the entire band? And that's a shame, because the band sounds really good. But since the voice is so dominant, I have to say I can't stand the mix.

Mediocre at best

God, shitty singer in a 70s punk band. I have heard enough of these. The music at least was a little better than most punk

No, didn’t ignite anything in my world

I don’t like handing out ones but I just couldn’t stand this one

Probably one of the worst voices.

Kann weg.

Not a huge fan

Could barely get through the album

Not gonna lie, this is pretty bad. Nothing really redeemable about this album. Worse than a high school talent show band.

MIt einem richtigen Sänger hätte es für ** gereicht. Aber so...

One good song really. Didn’t like it at release, don’t like it now

Did not finish. The vocals suck and it's just not very good

Whiny vocals, boring instruments. Not my favorite band and not something I really enjoyed.

Zeurderig zingen = 1 ster

Great music then the voice intruded.

just couldn't hack the vocals needed a parasheetamol after that

Only One Star

Only one star. Obvs.

The only one

Aptly named. They must’ve seen the judges’ score cards. With different vocals and lyrics the music would have a chance.

Singers voice is brutal, had to stop. Band wasnt bad but only made it through half a song. 1

Not impressed. Rating: 4/10

No me es de mi gusto el tipo de vocal que maneja el cantante de la banda, no es para mí solo rescato la canción city of fun

that was one of the worst albums ive heard

bad, singer cannot sing

Didn’t do it for me.

can't stand the vocals.

Can’t listen to this guys voice.

terrible. dude can't sing. sounds drunk.

This one goes into the special folder (the recycle bin).

A boring Album! I don't like the singer and.

This album was borderline unlistenable. Any song that sounded remotely interesting was ruined by the most jarring, inharmonic, flat vocals I have ever heard. Unless the other members of the band had their voice boxes tragically ripped out in a freak accident, there is no excuse for this guy being the lead singer. I have no choice but to believe that this album is on the 1001 list as a control group.

Did the vocalists parents buy him a spot on the band or something?

Ok. Not overly engaging enough to listen to entirely. 👎

As soon as I saw the album cover I knew I was in for a glorious treat. Yet another bunch of British guys doing what the do best, guitar strum alongs with exciting lyrics, interesting guitar passages and explosive beats. A fascinating, enthralling experience from start till end. I was completely charmed from beginning till finish. A very welcome change from all other British pop-folk-psychedelic albums of 1960-1980 from the conception till climax. They truly made something. They sat down and wrote songs and created some musics. I was on the edge of my sit from the onset till termination. Every new song made me feel feelings and experience emotions. Every emotion made me feel things and every feeling made me emotional. From the inception till conclusion. Significant 20/55 Liked 9/55 Added 2/55 No, no, no this album is piss, dont bother.

Cannot rate this low enough.

Truly painful to listen through. Fuck this singer

Gear: DCA ÆON 2 Noire Mix (2008 Remaster): zischend, unangenehm und trotzdem popig-seicht zum blöd werden Musik: gratuitous sax & senseless vocals Wertung: 🎷(🎷)/5

I felt like the album’s potential is entirely overshadowed by the cringe vocals, I could not get into even one song on the album. Swap out for a different singer and it may have earned a couple more stars. I almost stopped listening before the last song, but I powered through, and the last song did, again, disappoint.

Tell the singer to cheer the fuck up

This isn’t my favorite genre of music, and I found the lead singer’s voice kind of unpleasant.

not my thing at all. kinda whiny. did not like.

Not for me. Keeps dragging on.

not a fan

Meh. Capable players, clean production, but lack of melodies combined with Johnny Rotten vocals doesn’t draw continued interest. Graham Parker and the Rumour without the songwriting ability.

The singing is terrible

Artist is talented music was ok and mostly enjoyable. At some point I just was hoping it would end so I could listen to something more upbeat on the drive to work.

I couldn't stand this guy's singing. The only redeeming song was Another Girl, Another Planet. I gave every song a shot, but ended up skipping to the next one quickly. 1.5/5

otetaampa sitaattia, lainausmerkeittäin: ''KIINNOSTAVIA BIISEJÄ EI VOI YKKÖSTÄ ANTAAA ARGH!!! MUSCIANSHIP!! MIKSI!!!! Loppuu latteasti alkaa latteasti.. heh meikäpoika heittää ykköstä silmään..'' nyt lähtee arvio arvostelusta... PASKAA!!!! ei ole millään tavalla kiinnostavia biisejä...täyttä KURAA alusta loppuun...narrien musiikkia ja sillä selvä... off with his head. onneksi huomenna dark side. the whole of the law

KIINNOSTAVIA BIISEJÄ EI VOI YKKÖSTÄ ANTAAA ARGH!!! MUSCIANSHIP!! MIKSI!!!! Loppuu latteasti alkaa latteasti.. heh meikäpoika heittää ykköstä silmään..

The instrumentals are fine, the lyrics are meh, but the vocals, holy shit are they bad. He sounds like Mick Jagger's much shittier younger brother Dick. Absolute rubbish. Ruins the whole album for ya.

This is just crap. 1/5

Didn't find any joy with this one.

I’m not into this

I could have gone the rest of my life without listening to this and never felt like I was missing anything.

I don’t think I can sufficiently express my dissatisfaction with how dull and pathetic those 41 minutes and 53 seconds felt. Perhaps I’m just going through it at the moment, but this nearly made me call my therapist. I don’t even believe in therapy.

not my thing love
