Reviews (page 4 of 8)
So fun fact about me is that I’m already a Kasey Musgraves fan. I don’t really consider her country. I consider her pop with a light country twang. I actually own her second album “Star-Crossed” on vinyl and I really like it. High Horse has been a favorite of mine since it came out (and it is still her best song). This album was a really nice listen and I appreciate here voice here as much as I expected. Sweet little album with a sweet vibe. 4
I adore this album
Really nice album, quite enjoyed listening to it
This album is an instant classic. Much of it has a sort of dreamlike quality that feels akin to listening to music in a pleasantly altered state (which seems to be how some of the songs were written). Though not every song works in sequence, Kacey Musgraves adeptly wades through various genres which revolving around a country dreampop core where she really shines. The songs are tender, thoughtful, and though they can be a little on the nose, they are endearing enough for that not to be a drawback. The sound at its best is expansive and reminds of the Laurel Canyon sound.
singer songwriter girl from 2018 the album is mostly good until the end 4.5
Much better than I expected. Not too country
Listened to this album a fair bit, I think this is a good album but slightly overrated Fave tracks:Slow burn, Butterflies,Lonely Weekend, High Horse, Golden Hour, Rainbow 4/5
Giving me early Taylor Swift vibes
great to hear the whole album (I played on repeat her earlier album, same trailer diff park - so good)
Solid mellow vibes. Probably my favorite “country” music after T swift
I don't like country, but I also think that's an unfair tag for Kacey. She's really invented a unique mashup of country, pop, and folk that I really like. Slow Burn and Rainbow are two standouts and maybe make for one of the best first/last track combos I can think of. Beautiful voice, smart song writing, simple melodies. I dig it.
I love this album. It slaps every time!
Zoet maar ook niet te zoet. Ik kan dit zeker wel waarderen.
This one defied all expectations set by the opening couple of tracks (much better on second listen), and proved to be a gorgeous album. As it progressed, it opened up into something more melodic, more vibrant, more interesting. Country base, with lots of toppings, adding up to a really solid set of pop songs. Lovely.
Nice change
Listened Before? Y Country music is terrified of this woman. She's deeply intelligent and in-touch. She bares her soul on her records and doesn't do what any Nashville executive tells her to do. The result: pure gold and a giant middle finger. I own this album in two formats, and I listen to it all the time. This is another step in her evolution, and a step further from traditional country sound. This one is a winner. Added to Library? Y Songs added to playlist: Butterflies
En tant que pophead automnal je suis conquis (✿◕‿◕)
I've never been a fan of country outside of the occasional one-off or a few outlaw country albums but I really really like this. The simplicity and clarity of the arrangements, Kacey's almost childlike enunciation and voice seems weirdly authentic and refreshing. Many of the tracks here have more elements than merely country - e.g. vocoder on "Oh, What a World" ?? love it. At the risk of sounding ignorant, I feel like this is like old-school country with modern production, yet avoiding the way-too-common over-produced pitfalls of modern music that make it all so bland and disposable - there's no overlayering or walls of guitars and/or voices; there's just that innocent-sounding clarity to each of these songs that I have no idea why I connect with it ... but maybe I already gave the reasons. 8/10 4 stars.
Not a single bad track. Some a little more forgettable than others, but not a single bad one. Excellent album.
Kacey musgraves - golden hour (2018) Notes - Country with pop & psychedelic elements - I went through a huuuuuge Kacey musgraves phase in 2020 - There’s something about this album…. The production? The mixing? - It’s the little touches of synth, slide guitar, percussion, atmosphere that makes this album stand out - Kacey isn’t doing anything revolutionary but it still feels great - She sings very delicately for the majority of the album which helps to establish an ethereal atmosphere Fav - Happy & sad - something about the chorus on this song gets me every time Least fav - Wonder Woman - i like the concept of the song but i feel like the instrumental doesnt do it justice 4/5, 2 years ago i wouldve said 5/5
Pretty good album. Not original country but she has a pretty voice.
Good. Chill. Was.
I was originally feeling a 3/5 on this album the whole way through, as there were a couple solid songs with mostly average filler, but my favorite track on this album, high horse (sucker for dream-pop here), made me round it up to a 4/5. 7/10
Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Lonely weekend, Love is a wild thing, Wonder woman, High horse
Listened a couple times in 2018/2019. good opportunity to revisit.
I’d listen again. Incredible opening track. I get the buzz.
This was nice. It was country/pop music. It was definitely mainstream but Kacey has a nice voice and the music was a little Faith Hill/Shania Twain/Taylor Swift - y.
+ Slow Burn (4 STARS) - Simple lyrics but good sound + Lonely Weekend (4 STARS) + Butterflies (4 STARS) + Oh, What a World (3 STARS) - too disney + Mother (3 STARS) + Love is a Wild Thing (4 STARS) + Space Cowboy (3 STARS) + Happy & Sad (4 STARS) + Velvet Elvis (4 STARS) + Wonder Woman (4 STARS) + High Horse (4 STARS) - simple lyrics but so dancey + Golden Hour (4 STARS) + Rainbow (5 STARS) OVERALL (4 STARS): Very simple, but sweet and catchy
Country isn't my favorite, but this was pretty relaxing and good vibes.
Ok if you like white girl folk/pop music. I could see myself listening to again.
very catchy! i really loved this album, it made me feel happy. a lot of these reviews are low, so i didn’t really expect to love it, I. WAS. WRONG.
Very pleasant and soothing. Would listen again. Favorite was probably Oh What a World.
I discovered this treat of an album last year, and adore the songs Mother, and Rainbow. Such obvious and simple sentiments, but perfectly married to song. What an artist.
Was good! She has a good voice and the melodies are nice.
I've never listened to Kacey Musgraves before, but I thoroughly enjoyed this album.
Not my favorite Kacey album, but still a good one. So many good songs.
Excellent
This is a terrific album. She's fairly mainstream at this point, but I do like that she breaks with the Team 'Murica country set. Not quite Outlaw Country which is most to my liking, but trending that way and I like it. Great voice. Great lyrics. Just about every song on this one is solid straight through.
One of the best modern country artists out there right now. Her list of artists that inspired her is a list that I loved to read from, John Prine (Rest in Peace!) to Alison Krauss (gotta respect somebody from my hometown who went to high school with my dad) to Jim Croce (my favorite songwriter) and even people like, Cake, Weezer, and ELO (the last of those you can hear on the song "Oh, What A World"). I'm leaving some notable country artists off of there but, the point is she has great taste in music. I also love a country artist that is willing to openly support progressive social movements, helps me not feel guilty about enjoying country music. As for this album "Slow Burn" is a wonderful song that is enjoyable to listen to and to find out she was on acid while writing it makes me like her even more. "Butterflies" was intriguing song with a lot to pick apart and some nice bass fills. The middle of the album is peaceful but mostly forgettable. I also quite enjoy the upbeat yet chill energy of "High Horse", it maybe sits a little late in the album for me but I like the song. "Golden Hour" was calm with an interesting guitar line. "Rainbow" is the perfect peaceful, but powerful way to end an album. All in all I enjoyed this album more than I expected to. I was expecting a 3 going in but by the end I felt it was a 4 for me. The calm energy that tows the line of country and folk is a musical spot that I love, though her voice gets a little twangy at points for my liking.
Not bad, I actually really like country music in small doses. And at least it’s not about trucks
Surprisingly nice, cool vibes
What a great album, I was pleasantly surprised seeing as I’m not a big country fan at all.
Hadn't listened to this album despite being a fan of her first release. Really enjoyed it. 4.5/5
pretty good, but all the songs kinda sound alike
Heel mooi gezongen en heel leuke melodieuze nummers. Heerlijk album als je van rustige popmuziek met een klein country-sfeertje houdt. ****
Not bad - a little saccharine
3.5/5. Pretty good for a newer country album.
I love a number of songs on this album. Rainbow is one of the best album closers, while others like High Horse and Butterflies are beautifully written and performed.
Whilst I do love this album, a critical listen let me realise that I don't love all of it. However, it is defo my top country album.
I was all set to hate on Kacey Musgraves, but here I am... I am the asshole. This was super enjoyable listening to in the still of a pre-dawn morning. I struggle to think of a better time and place to turn this on. Very nice.
This falls into the wait and see category for me. I liked it a lot when it was released, although didn't see much more than traditional country songs recorded in other styles. That may not be fair in that there is a lyrical depth that is uncommon in the genre. All that said, the accolades that were heaped on Golden Hour seemed excessive. Six tears later I am still at very good, but not a classic. Time will tell.
I liked this. A nice blend of country-ish, singer-songwriter and pop styles. I'll download and listen again.
This album was obviously a step up from Pageant Material and I loved how blissful it felt, she managed to weave multiple genres without making it sound clunky. Her writing isn't as poetic as most but still evocative in its simplicity My favourite tracks are: Velvet Elvis, Wonderwoman, Slow Burn, Golden Hour To be honest the middle part of the album are kind of skips for me but she definitely redeems herself near the end The best song on the album is Lonely Weekend hands down Her vocals are very smooth which makes it delightful to listen to Her producers did a very good job, the tracks are seamless and the additional country elements with world instruments make me feel like I'm in a different universe
I was excited and surprised to see Kacey Musgraves pop up on the list. I am familiar with some of her singles, but haven't ever done an album listen. It did not blow me away like I had hoped that it would, but it was good.
Pleasant contemporary country-slash-pop. Blended into the background a bit but was always nice enough when I turned my focus back to it.
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Not for any one particular reason and I don't think it's brilliant in any way. But it's just all-round pretty good and sounds very nice.
first listen the flavour of country music that i enjoy perfectly
Not exactly necessary on a “must hear before you die” list, but definitely a great listen! More folk than country, Kacey recycles timeless melodies and chord progressions over 45 minutes, and every song is a good listen. Her voice and range are simple and accessible to the listener. I enjoyed this album.
Despite it being questionable that this album is a must hear, it is a very solid and enjoyable country pop album. Could do with maybe one or two big hits but overall good
The perfect pop album is a mythical beast and this album goes as close to nailing it as many. The first half is pretty flawless, and her simple but slyly hooky melodies are outstanding. A few more obvious tracks on the B - side let the quality down slightly, (Happy and Sad, Velvet Elvis) and I for one can leave the piano ballad.
04/17/2022 Cute, country-pop. Surprised that I dug it as much as I did. Her voice gets a little irritating after a while. Good production value keeps things right on track.
Similar feel to mainstream country, but I liked the album quite a bit! A surprising 4 for me. Maybe felt a little more personal / folksy than your country pop with the more pronounced twang and accent.
i enjoyed her voice and the soothing tunes! Harkened me back to when I listened to 10,000 Maniacs and Natale Merchant with Kim back in the day.
so lovely
Fantastic artist!! Enjoyed listening to the re-release on Apple now in Spatial and Dolby Atmos. Slow Burn is a great start to this album and probably one of my favorite songs. Oh,What a World also is Avery cool listen. A neat play on words in Space Cowboy. My wife's favorite Kacey song High Horse is a fun upbeat sounding tune. This album finishes off nicely with Rainbow. A Great listen.
Modern pop country at its finest. Comforting and warm but never sleepy. Sticks with you for quite a while.
This one exceeded expectations. It's a little depressing in parts, but I think you are always gonna get that with country music. Her voice is not really my jam, but I can recognize it's beauty. Songs were well written.
I didn’t know much going in but really enjoyed thia
Modern folk tinged pop, 90’s production. Pretty good!
Honestly, I was kind of a fan. Did not expect that.
Not my style of music but it was listenable. I thought the more obvious mix of country and modern pop was interesting because it's uncommon to see both put together
I really liked this album. I love modern, female, country, Americana and this was great. Occasionally a few duff areas but generally very good.
Never heard of her before this, rather enjoyed it.
Disc lluminós de country pop, ple de melodies brillants i optimistes, 'Oh What a World', 'Space Cowboy', 'Golden Hour', el toc melancòlic de 'Happy and Sad'. Una bonica descoberta
There weren't any songs I really disliked, they were all good. Relaxing and thoughtful vibe to this album. Favourite songs: slow burn, love is a wild thing
**12/08/2021** Today's Album: "Golden Hour" by Kasey Musgraves - This first song is surprising me. I at first didn't like her lyricism and felt like it was very country, but the song definitely is growing on me as it goes along. Very pretty. Lonely Weekend is solidifying the idea in my mind that this artist sounds like older Taylor Swift. There's definitely something else, though. The lyrics and production apply to Millennial and Gen Z tastes. As much as I'm not inclined to say any of this is extraordinary, I'm having a hard time skipping this song. There's more and more fun instrumentation that's pulling me in and she does have a really nice voice. Butterflies off the bat catches my attention. The instrumental is so cool and the way the bass cuts in when the verse starts is amazing. The chorus is so good and even though it sounds really country, it's not really turning me away. The synth in between the verses is so bubbly and cool. She is making her sound more distinct from other country pop I've heard in this song. I was absolutely not expecting an intro like Oh, What a World. That's pretty cool and I really like the Radiohead-like swells in the background of this song. The positivity of this song is starting to wane on me, but I think the instrumentals being so bright really accompanies the aesthetic. Mother is a slower ballad. Despite it being so short, it's able to pack a decent bit of emotional punch and it doesn't even get very large musically. Love is A Wild Thing is a pretty fun Swift-like song. It has banjo in the back and some fiddle to give it that full country sound, but there are some other things that set it apart slightly like some cool psychedelic sounds and wavy synths. Space Cowboy is a really solid tear jerker in the album. The reverbed and distorted guitar add a perfect sadness to this break up song and the way Space Cowboy is used as, "Ill give you your Space, Cowboy" is really clever. I think I really expected this album to lose me some time in the middle, but it really has stayed diverse enough to make me really get into the base country-pop sound. Happy & sad keeps this sad beat, but has a happy overtone over her feelings about the break-up. She actually is really opening herself up in this album, and this song is about how she feels depressed, but relieved because her relationship has ended. Velvet Elvis is a great upbeat track to pick things up after the last 2 tracks. She puts on this really strong and confident voice over this bumping guitar and bass and it sounds awesome. The chorus is booming with the choir that joins in and the bumping groove keeps chugging along. This is a great song gotta say. It almost sounds like she's found a new person after this breakup and she's feeling on top of the world with them. The psychedelic guitars and then distorted solo guitars sound fucking fantastic. Idk how this isn't a bigger hit bc it's 100% a bop. Wonder Woman pulls things back for a dreamy song about wanting this new relationship with this person that picked her back up after her break-up, but expressing that she's not perfect and can't be like all of the rich girls this guy is usually bringing around. She still wants to try with this person even though they're both not perfect. This song is so fun and dreamy. High Horse is a catchy and biting song about people who are on their high horses and are always buzzkills. The instrumental travels places and I really like all of the production choices. This sounds like if kraungbin wrote a dance track and I love it. Golden Hour starts off with this great lo-fi feel and the chorus just bring the listener into this dreamy floaty cloud land. It reminds me of the Shacks for how slow and psychedelic it is. Great track to bring the album around. This album has had great pacing so far and with the last track, Rainbow being the most popular, I have high expectations for sure. Rainbow is a piano ballad that sounds initially a lot like a Paul McCartney song. It's a beautiful song about realizing how beautiful you are. It's a good sad song to end this album on and it really leaves you with that great "end of a great performance" feeling. I relate it most to something like Bo Burnham's, "Goodbye" at the end of Inside. The reverb effects add to this really pretty atmosphere and the piano really takes center stage because it sounds so good. Great end to a great album that really exceeded my expectations from the beginning. Score: 9/10 extremely pleasant Highlights: Lonely Weekend, Butterflies, Space Cowboy, Velvet Elvis, Wonder Woman, Golden Hour, Rainbow
Ну ладно, не всё кантри скукотень.
Soft pop, nice mood for coding
One of my favourites of recent years.
Touching, and charming. Soothing!
Great voice. Boring and predictable lyrics. Boring music.
easy listening with a country vibe. Many follow this path
além de ser um country mais pop e não me ofender como um puro country, country com vocal feminino é bem mais agradável.
She has a lovely voice, but the music and lyrics feel basic. One note pop just doesn’t do it for me.
This was the record that began my slow transformation into an out and proud country fan, so I will always have that appreciation for it. Upon revisiting, it's a little too pop-heavy for my taste and I had a bit of trouble getting through it. Feels like a boardroom of music executives trying to write Emmylou Harris' "Wrecking Ball." The standout for me is the blend of country and disco on "High Horse," which has been on my playlists since the record came out. There are some other solid hooks throughout as well. Nothing bad here, just too safe and predictable for my liking.
Pleasant middle of the road stuff. Nothing to write home about.
I hate country music, so if I have to listen to country, I'm glad it's Kacey Musgraves because I don't hate her. Her voice is different than other country singers, and I actually like a few of her songs. I knew and liked the song Rainbow. I also liked Golden Hour and Lonely Weekend. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It was pretty poppy.
I think it's an alright album if not for me Will I listen to again: 20%
Not a fan of country but nothing to hate here. She has a good voice and the music is not offensive or super twangy. A lot of the songs do sound the same though.
Mixture of country and songwriter pop. Nice singing voice.
Top quality pop music. Good and often clever songwriting that isn't too larded with Nashville cliches. There's really only a few occasional touches that signal that this is a Nashville Country Music approved-for-country-radio album: an occasional and barely noticeable pedal steel and, more often, banjo, which typically has a very modern wash of reverb over it that makes it seem distant in both space and time (like a nostalgic simulation of silent film). So, I'd much much rather hear this than anything else I can think of on country radio (except Chris Stapleton and...?), but it still feels like a product that is unlikely to be interesting in 30 years. I could almost go four stars on this, because --really-- top notch production and performance, but it's just hitting all the marks and not doing anything really "you gotta hear this" level, so: 3/5.
Very pop, very sweet. Not bad, not interesting either.
Not for me.
A young lady with an exceptionally good voice which pulled on all the emotions. The tracks felt as though she meant what she was singing and so all the meaning was there for me to feel those real emotions even the tracks that were about mundane things. I do hope she wrote the lyrics herself- it felt like she had! Not something I would rush to listen to again but enjoyable in the moment. Best track- ‘wonder woman’ or maybe ‘rainbow’ Worst track- ‘golden hour’ 7.5/10
Way too new to be on this list. Even if it was fantastic (which it’s not, it’s fine).
i think i would like this more if she leaned into the country aspects a little more
Not something I would listen to in rotation, but I’m glad it’s on the list. I like the diversity of having some more modern albums rather than constant 80s British pop.
☀️
Some beautiful lyrics on this one
Note to revisit next time I’m driving down a highway alone at dusk. ✅✅ Space Cowboy ✅✅ Wonder Woman ✅✅ High Horse
Álbum bem legal de ouvir. Pop country bem feito e divertido. QoA Cloudscape.
Of Abercrombie ofzo. In totaal? FAVO: High Horse
No. 210 Although this isn't the type of music I usually listen to, I really liked this artist's sound.
Generic girly-voice guitar/piano teenage lovesongs
A little on the poppy side for me but the simplicity and saccharine sweetness with a touch of clever works
I knew rainbow, which is a great song, so I had high hopes for the rest of the album but it felt pretty unmemorable overall. Rainbow is still great though.
Kacey Musgraves – Golden Hour (2018) This one has its highs and lows. The songwriting didn't quite hit the mark for me because the lyrics felt a bit too cheesy at times, lines like "Grandma cried when I pierced my nose" are just a little too corny. BUT it definitely has some elements I genuinely enjoyed. "Lonely Weekend," "Butterflies," and "Love Is a Wild Thing" were real standouts that worked well. It balances out to a 3/5.
Not really sure why this record is on the list. It’s pretty forgettable. 6/10
Country-pop muy bien grabado, pero inofensivo
Two things struck me about this. First, Kacey is clever. Space Cowboy is a case in point. She can sing and she uses it to good effect, the tone painting she does with “high horse” is another case in point. So, she’s not a dumb girl. But… her persona is so very, very girly. She’s the kind of artist that my Taylor Swift obsessed teenage nephew would favor. She’s the kind of artist that makes me start to fantasize about things like: what if Slim Shady were her “Space Cowboy”? Since I recently rated the Marshall Mathers LP, I couldn’t help but imagine the response to Slim being told he could have his “space, cowboy.” I am sorry, but I think I would find his response more interesting than I found this album. 3 Boolean: yes, I suppose it was good to hear once.
A little cringey at times but moments that are more pure pop are stronger
I was expecting to really dislike this but it isn't bad. It's definitely just country tinged pop music and isn't really remarkable, I think, but it's pleasant listening. Decidedly average.
Liked it.
a nice little album here. enjoyed most of this. the only acceptable type of “stomp clap hey” country pop from this era in retrospect
Strong album even if it’s not my taste in music
It’s ok. I really don’t like the whole Nashville Country Pop schtick, but I like her voice and there was some kinda fun production things that popped up here or there. Didn’t hate listening to it, but have no need to ever listen to it again.
Honestly liked this one a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a pretty decent country album with a nice voice and a small hint of modern production. Not awesome, but pretty good for country.
It's like a lesser known Tailor Swift album but without the poppy songs
Very nice and cohesive. Good songwriting and great vocals. Admittedly I didn't find super compelling, but I'm not always the biggest fan of country music. Although, as a big Taylor Swift fan, this isn't much of a leap from early Taylor Swift (at times they can sound really similar), so maybe with a few more listens I would be more into Golden Hour. I can hear there is substance in this album. Favourite songs on first listen: "Slow Burn", "Happy & Sad", "Velvet Elvis" 3/5
Pleasant enough. The first song is the most memorable by far- cosmic, evocative. Like something Dave Fridmann might have produced.
Almost aggressively pleasant, nice voice and some good country/pop songs
Aight
I really liked the final song, but the rest of the album was kind of generic sounding to me.
This is a pleasant enough album of gentle ballads with lyrics focused on new love, break ups and philosophical reflections on life as a millennial. Very standard approach to the female singer songwriter genre of recent times. Hadn't heard of Kacey Musgraves and suspect she deserves to be better known by people who like this genre. It's inoffensive and not without talent but I've heard too much of this kind of music in recent years and it's not distinctive enough to stand out really.
fav songs: lonely weekend butterflies polished, mellow, repetitive 50/100
3.0
I feel like I need to give this one another listen sometime. It has some interesting stuff going on, but most of it just sounds like typical contemporary country.
Inoffensive, bland and highly forgettable country”ish” music. Nothing fantastic here.
Not bad. It's kind of normal pop music with a country vibe under it
Fint men inget märkvärdigt.
I didn’t know this artist, and when I first listened to the album, it sounded a bit monotonous. But the more I listened, the more I actually enjoyed it. Three stars... :-)
I think this album totally does what it sets out to do. There is nothing inherently bad about it but I really don't see how it is in the conversation of albums you must hear before you die.
Beautiful but boring
Don't care for country. However there was one song that stood out to me and I liked it!
The country to pop shift has been going on for years now, and thus has slowly become the new "normal". I didn't pay too much attention to Kacey Musgraves when she broke through to the mainstream, but I immediately hear the pop appeal on this album. It actually gets more diverse the more time you spend with it, though. Heavy pop influence of course, but some disco/dance-like tracks, and even some indie presence too. No more "small town, country girl" themes here either, although the breakup songs are still a little prevalent. There are some melancholic and more personal notes all throughout though, and Musgraves does well when the subject matter demands a lighter tone. I quite enjoyed my listen for the most part, but leaning more towards a 3 as opposed to a 4.
She's got a lovely voice and this is a very pleasant album to listen to. Too pleasant, really. Halfway through I was ready to put on some Cannibal Corpse or something.
Not really heard a lot of KM but this a really good pop album which is a little different from her C&W heritage. Really nice vocals too.
Haven’t heard this album in a while, but it’s still a really nice chill country album to have on it n the background. Doesn’t do anything wild, but it’s a solid album nonetheless.
Aunque este no sea el tipo de musica que suelo escuchar me gusto mucho el sonido de esta artista. Simple, clean music sin pretextos o complicaciones. The good kind of country music yeehaw(3)/5
She’s got a really soothing and nice voice, and the songs are decent and calming. But they are not really good
I swear this came up before, but maybe not. Not really into the country twang of it but it kinda rode a line between Country and pop/folk not really landing up anywhere. Nice voice, solid instrumentation.
Fine. It’s fine. She’s fine. Whatever.
2.92
I was not expecting to like this at all, but boy was I surprised. Decent songwriting along with some interesting bass playing, often with a nice skeletal acoustic guitar underneath all of the layers of sound. This made for a generally enjoyable listen.
This album really grew on me over a few days. It’s very endearing. The first time I heard it I was really put off my the vocals. Not because they were bad obviously, just not my vibe really and I wasn’t in the right head space for this album. But a few days later I gave it another chance and it really had its movements throughout. The biggest highlights for me being Velvet Elvis, and oh what a world. The song that’s a massive hit song on this album, rainbow, isn’t bad I’m just sort of sick to death of it, not a bad song though. As a whole I think it was a pleasant little album, I just didn’t absolutely love it.
I enjoyed this. It has the vibes of a freshman effort (although it is her 4th studio album.) A touch milquetoast, if even generic sounding but it’s eager and honest so it wasn’t at all a difficult listen.
I think I’ve grown out of this a lot, there are a few songs that still hit but the songwriting sort of feels like miss rachel (like happy and sad). Pageant material and same trailer different park are way better imo. She also just sings like she’s laying down on a couch but not in a good way, like diva try to put a little more edge in your voice. But this is the supermarket music I like ig
Pretty chill. 3.5/5
nice, really nice. country but with a little extra shine to it. "You're my golden hour" ahhhh.
Great voice, pretty good poppy music with a kindness and gentleness of spirit coming through. It's good to spin one like this in the rotation.
Country, wonder why this made it in this list
I have been putting this album off since 2019 when Kasey won album of the year at the Grammys for this and you know what…. It’s catchy!!! I hate all country music I just can’t lie and I still think it’s true with this album being the only exception for now. I find most lyrics from country songs quite ….. corny and juvenile which is quite accurate for this album but still I was bopping along and saved half of the songs to my liked songs so it must be aight in my books. 3.5
Is it Country? Is it Pop? Is it a little corny either way? Yes. There are songs here that I genuinely enjoy ("Slow Burn", "Golden Hour") and there are moments that make me sad the same way all predictable/obvious contemporary country lyrics make me sad. As a kid, I used to play a game in the backseat of my mom's car where I tried to guess the next line of a country song before the singer spit it out and I was right far too often. But there's certainly some experimentation going on here that pulls it outside of the usual country guardrails. It's neat that you can throw anything else at country music - no matter how old the idea may be in the rock/pop/hiphop/etc world and it's treated like a wildly novel new idea. Who knew you could use that metaphoric rear-view mirror to be a visionary? I don't think I'll ever own this record, but I have a few songs on playlists. If I'm going to listen to contemporary country, I'll take this "not like other girls" version over the regular stuff any day.
I like her just fine, but for some reason I can only take one or two songs at a time. Her light, soft, sweet voice is somehow oppressive after just a few minutes.
I enjoyed this album way more than I expected to
Country pop. To me, this was very bland and uninspiring. The album has won many awards though so I clearly don't get the genre.
I’ve heard a lot worse. Pleasant rather than life-changing. But perfectly competent, inoffensive, and interesting enough. Female vocal always helps.
Pleasant country music.
great voice, great production. but stylistically, i found this quite an uninteresting listen. it reminds me a lot of taylor swift. some of the lyrics were a bit cheesy too. but overall, it was alright.
Meh. Not terrible. Just not really my type of thing.
Need to relisten I was eepy on the train
I might have been having a stroke but this was actually pretty damn good for what it is. It worked perfectly as a background music and I really enjoyed the album way more than I initially imagined. The last song however drops the album just in the zone of 3, almost was willing to give it a 4 but I think the energy dropped off for the end.
This album is basically the modern country equivalent of "Friday" by Rebecca Black. Overproduced to all hell. Bland, shallow, pointless lyrics. In fairness, she's a better singer than Rebecca Black, so this deserves slightly more credit, but I still think the comparison stands. It's mostly pretty easy to listen to, but it's also pretty dull. I want to rate it low because I really don't see why it's on this list, but my own system of rating is screwing me over. Going to just call it a low 3 and move on.
I enjoyed this much more than I expected too. She's got a nice voice and it's more like decent pop than country. Nothing stood out but I wasn't bored so Low 3
Pleasant enough country pop. Nothing wrong with it, nice enough but hardly essential
A real pleasant/relaxed listen although there is nothing remarkable on. 2,5
Smooth musique pop, écoute très facile et douce
3.5
A little too much pop in my country music, but it beats the hell out of Keith Urban bullshit.
The worst thing about pop is its insistence on country. The worst thing about country is its insistence on pop.
Really nice album. I wouldn't choose it, but I wouldn't turn it off.
Definitely a lot better than most country albums. Unlike those other ones, Musgraves feels refreshing and brings something new to the table. That being said, it’s still country so it was just okay to me. A fine listen but not much more.
I can’t tell where I fall on this. I remember when it came out and it was “revolutionary” for a major country start. Indicative of the indie influence. There are some places where that shines through. Instruments and song setup are inspired, fun and deep. But there’s still a heck of a lot of surface lyrics that can get dumb. Not a bad album overall but the shortcomings seem to become more apparent to me as time goes on
I'm waffling between 3 and 4 for this, going with 3 only because for me personally I'm just not a country fan so I wouldn't reach for this album often unless I was in a rare mood. There's not a bad song on this album, though, and if I ever move to the countryside and buy some cowboy boots and get really into country and ride a horse then I'll amend my review to a five.
A solid listen, with some catchy songs (Space Cowboy, Slow Burn). But I can’t help escape the feeling with this brand of ‘relatable’ pop that everything feels as if it’s been produced by a focus group, with all the small hints at different genres a little bit of targeted marketing. The pop culture references (‘horses’, ‘John Wayne’, ‘Elvis’, ‘cowboys’), all feel quite cliched ways to say ‘I’m southern!’. Listen to Waxahatchee or MJ Lenderman for some more complex and authentic indie/country crossover
This is a fairly decent country- and indie-influenced pop album rather reminiscent of Taylor Swift. Most songs were a nice enough listen, but none really stood out as exceptional to me. ‘High Horse' was probably the best track, being a bit more melodically interesting than the rest, but even that was just good rather than great. Other relative highlights included ‘Slow Burn’, ‘Love Is a Wild Thing’ and ‘Happy & Sad’. Overall, I thought it was a perfectly okay pop album that never quite took off; reasonably enjoyable in the moment but with little that will stick long in the memory.
Decent lil country piece
more like a 3.5 ... i liked this a lot more than i thought i would! unfortunately some of the songs sound so generic pop and do nothing for me. but there are some real gems in here
No molesta, pero no encandila
Her voice is so smooth and beautiful. Not sure I would listen to this particular album again though
I like country folk!
This feels like an album a Christian college freshman would feel deep listening to. The composition isn’t bad, but the lyrics are aggressively bad at times. Pleasurable enough of a listen but nothing I’ll be coming back to.
Pretty good for a country/pop album.
Certainly not the style of country I grew up with, but her voice is wonderful, with good range, and the music is not trying to overshadow that voice. Solid album.
I like this as much as I will enjoy any country-pop album. This epitomizes a 3 1/2 for me. Gentle, pretty good voice, decent songs that all sound pretty similar
I liked the album but it’s still a country pop album which is not my genre so it would be hard to get something more than 3 stars from me.
Slow Burn 4/5 Lonely Weekend 3/5 Butterflies 4/5 Oh, What A World 3/5 Mother 3/5 Love is A Wild Thing 3/5 Space Cowboy 3/5 Happy & Sad 3/5 Velvet Elvis 3/5 Wonder Woman 3/5 High Horse 3/5 Golden Hour 3/5 Rainbow 4/5 Overall Albume 3.23
Enjoyable country candyfloss.
Shes got a lovely voice. Really enjoyed the album
didn’t hate but was shocked this was here??
A folksy easy listen.
255M listens... never heard of her. I feel like I should at least heard about her even if I don't listen to her. never heard anyone mention her even. The music is basic late 10s pop with a country flavour. Space cowboy was kinda cool and i liked the chord progression in Rainbow. but it is not especially interesting
Kacey's first album is one of the best country albums ever made. Kacey’s fourth album, Golden Hour, is also very good, but it isn’t five-star material. I like the more sultry direction, though it feels more like a shift in tone than an improvement. I’m a fan of Kacey’s work, but this one lands at three stars for me. That's not really a knock though. Rolling Stone ranks it at #270 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, which seems reasonable. For context, I’d guess there are fewer than 200 albums I’d personally give four stars or higher, and Golden Hour, despite its strengths, doesn’t quite make that cut.
So... A few songs from this are very fresh sounding pop music. The rest is a lot of "the same thing" you can hear anywhere else at the time. It's ok, it's nothing special. 3/5
Nett
3.1 Ok, I gave this one some serious airtime. First listen, really enjoyed the opening track. Very dream-pop, nice vibes. Then it got a bit country-pop/teenage girl ish, I thought whatever. Then I read it won the fucking album of the year award(?!) at the Grammy's. Admittedly I then went back through it and it seems they frequently give it to some absolute dross, but unlike Kanye or someone I didn't find this album offensive so thought I'd give it another two listens. After three listens then... It's fine. I like the more dream-pop/Beck elements over the country/generic-pop (Madonna, Taylor etc.) elements of the album. It's not a bad album per se, it's just pretty uneventful. Is this really the best album of 2018? If so, then fair enough. Feel like other than the odd new release by a modern band or artist I like I'm completely out of touch, and maybe that's on me. But it doesn't sound particularly exciting, but then again did Britney or anyone back in the day?
5/10
6 - AVERAGE
Pleasantly surprised
She has a nice voice. Sweet but powerful. Definitely a chick album. Has some well written songs on it.
Pretty good pop/country album. Reminded me a bit of early Taylor swift. Lyrically it was lacking a bit still very catchy
Nice breadth in here and sound.
Buen balance entre country y pop
Mellow feminine country. Not bad but not made for me.
Simply produced with an appealingly spaced-out and stoned vibe. The songwriting is not quite strong enough to sustain 13 tracks, but Musgraves' gorgeous, honeyed voice is adequate to keep me engaged when it starts to sound samey-samey or shifts to a less-original upbeat pop style. A sweet and relaxing sidestep away from contemporary Country. Favorite song: Love is a Wild Thing
I found this a very pleasant listen. It made me recall Nancy Griffiths, but a more glossy version, whilst also aligned to Taylor Swift's 'evermore'. Butterflies' is to the more twee side, but her voice is cracking - no attempts to ham-up scales or runs, and just some lovely tone and falsetto. 'Oh, What a World' is the highlight, amongst a few highlights. A superb relaxed vocal, slide guitar, some vocoder - superb. Best not to read the lyrics mind you, as it reads a bit like 'Incredible Thoughts' by Lonely Island. I think this works because it does often overlap with the Laurel Canyon crowd when it comes to strong melodies. The tempo is generally a deliberate folk-pace and it's not smothered in random processed noises. That being said it's awash with a pop gloss, and when the balance goes awry it sounds a little throwaway. A high three nevertheless.
Nice little modern country record
Though there is nothing country about this, but it is decent Sheryl Crow type pop.
country, zum glück mit einflüssen von pop und elektronischer musik - für einmal nicht altbacken, sondern hörbar. schöne stimme.
Netter moderner Country. Aber was ist Unterschied zu Pop?
Actually decent country
It's interesting how her sound shifted through the span of this album. It started out so completely Country/ Singer Songwriter and shifted towards a more Pop sound. She's clearly talented, and I can see why she's popular enough for me to have previously heard of her without being a fan of her genres. I'd say this could be an easily accessible album for anyone who wanted to dabble in Country music but otherwise isn't a fan of contemporary Country.
The first couple of tracks promise a surprisingly listenable Pop country album. Kacey has a wonderful sound and isn't afraid to explore different musical genres. That said, they all somehow sound the same. Slow Burn was really good, Mother was a decently put together tear-jerkier. High Horse got off to a good start, then decided to be humdrum. Rainbow has the beginnings of a sad story, but you can hardly hear any human pain or emotion in Kacey's pretty voice. A very sadly missed opportunity.
Well executed but not anything special
Pop, voice ok.
This was nice but had a bit too much country twang for me.
I hate country so based on my enjoyment I would give it a 1, but there were far worse albums on this list, so it would be too harsh
Good. Personally not something I would intentionally listen to again.
Great voice! I liked the country stuff the most, never been a fan of easy listening.
Good
En ole oikein lämmennyt nyky kantrille, mutta ihan heleältä kuulosti. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Feared the worst when I looked up Kacey Musgraves and saw she did country. That said, this is more of a pop album with the taint of country looming large. Oh What A World was really good, on balance the songs were more good than bad, but some of the lyrics were godawful.
Not holding much hope for this from the description and reviews, but let’s see… I will copy another reviewers pasted lyrics to capture the quality - “Texas is hot, I can be cold, grandma cried when I pierced my nose” 🙄 Very basic and inoffensive. Cringe lyrics and contrived feels and depth. I don’t say this about many albums but this one I really can’t see why it’s here. Plenty of people that do this style and feel much better. Lyrics really are embarrassing. Like year 6 poetry class. I’ll give it my 3* which means it does its genre okay, not my thing and not offensively bad. Done after track 4
Perfectly pleasant, if inconsequential, country pop.
This is a great album - enjoyed and is not my usual sound
I liked this more than I was expecting. The production is great, it sounds very different than what I expect modern country to sound like. But, I didn’t really care for the lyrics at all. I can’t see myself singing along to these songs. High 3.
Going from the downward spiral to this is kinda funny. This was pretty uninteresting and I don’t think it should be on the list, but it’s a fine listen so It gets a 3
A decent album. Maybe would've enjoyed more 4 years ago
Enjoyed this one. She's a great songwriter. Highlights: "Slow Burn" and "Love is a Wild Thing"
Not bad, but too poppy
I could maybe give this a 3.5, but I just think this is "good." She rips off a lot of great stuff (mainly Sufjan Stevens), and I think her music probably accomplishes her goal of mixing indie folk with pop country, but I find her voice rather plain, and the music doesn't explore enough new ideas or do anything else in a fun enough way for me. However, I could see myself listening to her Christmas album and wouldn't be upset if my daughter got into Musgraves' music instead of many other pop artists out there...
bad day for it because this was putting me to sleep at work. decent tunes and pretty voice though
Perfectly pleasant pop ballads with a country flavour. She's got a lovely voice and there's some nice melodies in there. I think there's enough variance in the songs, and enough hooks and whatnot to keep you interested. It works well as a pop package, but I'm really struggling to see how this can be elevated beyond that. There's nothing profound here. The lyrics are genuinely woeful, just so basic and surface-layer. There's nothing wrong with that for what it is, and there's nothing wrong with enjoying this as a favourite album.. but this really shouldn't be up there with the very best albums of all time in my opinion. You need to have something a BIT more.
Pretty good country/pop
Good but I think it’s overrated. It’s a pleasant listen but nothing really stands out. I don’t remember much on the next day. But overall still good, very good production, and good arrangement, and good voice. It’s like the anime demon slayer. Many people love it. It has the best CGI, amazing bgm, huge production, burnt tons of money. But the core storyline is fairly mediocre.
a very pleasant listening experience. i don't think a ton really stood out to me, but i enjoyed having it on during the work day. could see myself maybe throwing this on for a road trip, but otherwise i don't see myself going back to it a ton
I definitely enjoyed the second half of the album more than the first, and that’s because of the different genres blended with country. I think Kacey Musgraves has a great voice and I was reminded of Norah Jones more than a few times. The biggest drawback of this album is the few times there’s predictable rhymes in the lyrics it really stands out and I find it hard to take the next little bit of the song seriously.
Far more interesting than one would think. It's better than most other pop country. Ultimately, not my cup of tea, but I can see why folks like this one.
A fun exploration of blending multiple more contemporary genres with modern country. I’m not the biggest fan of modern country, but this album still had some nice offerings.
Blah. She’s got a good voice but it just doesn’t do much for me. Nothing offensive enough to abandon the listen but nothing that compels me to listen further either. Standard faire pop country.
So this started quite nicely - quite over produced pop country. Lost it's way midway through and basically became pretty straight pop towards the end with High Horse being one of the better songs from the second half. Frankly I found it more memorable and catchy than the Taylor Swift offerings we've had so far but it was otherwise nice but quite average.
This was alright. Felt more pop than country, which is likely a good thing for me. I'm not overly familiar with the genre so it's not surprising that could hear some similarities between this and some of the Taylor swift stuff I've heard, but this was all of the softer, less exciting, nature. A few of the ambient sounded reminded me of soft pop of the 90s, like savage garden or that ilk. I'm not blown away, I won't be seeking out more, but I didn't dislike it.
Surprisingly good. While I might not be a fan of her voice it fits the narrative and melody within the songs.
It was fine, didn't click with me personally
Not bad, not familiar.
Discovered this site today. Country isn't really my thing, so it was a interesting start! The songs are chill and her voice is lovely, it fits a end-of-summer-afternoon kind of mood. "Slow Burn" is a cool song. But that's it, none of the songs reeeeally stood out to me. After the first 3 or 4 songs, they all started to sound kind of the same.
I always appreciate seeing something in this collection released in the past decade (as of 2025), but I'll admit that these selections feel even more arbitrary than earlier albums that presumably have stood the test of time. I enjoyed this album, as well as the nominal foray into country-esque music (a major shortcoming of this collection), but I also don't feel like Musgraves' music is all that distinctive or memorable, and verges on too saccharine on this album. My favorites are probably the opening "Slow burn", the pop-oriented "Butterflies", and the more subdued "Space cowboy". But it was hard to escape the feeling that I was listening to some Hallmark Channel movie soundtrack (despite that Musgraves apparently took LSD for the inspiration for "Slow burn" and "Mother").
Nice
i'm not a huge fan of hers, but have heard a bit of her music through osmosis with people in my life. i think her music can be quite charming, but ends up not being quite my thing. i like her voice, which has a certain sweetness to it, but sometimes her songs fall flat for me. on a scale, i would say this is a light 'good' to me, solid but somewhat uninteresting.
I mean, this is an okay album! Aside from the hits, not much else stands out to me. I struggle to enjoy albums where a majority of the songs are lowkey and emotional. The album is not life-changing by any means, but is a good album to listen to if you like chill country/pop songs about love.
Admitting that he dumbed down his music for a wider appeal, Jay Z famously rapped “Truthfully, I want to rap like Common Sense/But I did 5 Mil/I ain’t been rappin like Commin since” I think Kacey Musgraves is Taylor Swift’s Common. Proof that pop-country doesn’t have to suck if you have a talented songwriter, this album is mostly good. It gets a little cheesy at times (you can have your space……cowboy) but pretty solid for the most part. I think “slow burn” was my favourite.
Nothing to write home about, its a pleasant enough listen but not quite getting what the significance behind it might be
Hmmm!... Not quite country, not quite pop, and the result is rather bland. I imagine this is what an album created and performed by AI might sound like. In fact, I don't have to imagine, because the other day my friend generated a song using AI, and the style was very much like the songs on this album. All very nice, but instantly forgettable. I certainly don't understand the significance of this album that makes it a must-listen, but I'll give it three stars because I would have no problem listening to it again... and forgetting it all over again.
Not for me
lovely voice. elements of pop, folk, electronica all swirled together. very eclectic.
Rating: 5.5/10 It’s got a certain charm to it, a lot of it is pretty pedestrian though.
Gave it a couple listens, didn't mind it but I don't think St.Peter will be allowing her entry to my girl-pop pantheon any time soon.
1. Slow Burn - 7 Instrumentally and vocally very strong. Lyrically very forced and random at times. Still a very good and enjoyable track. 2. Lonely Weekend - 6 Instrumentally very good but lyrically extremely repetitive. Very much a good track that felt like it could be a lot more if the title line was just repeated for two minutes. 3. Butterflies - 9 Brilliant country song. Absolutely awesome from the sound to the vocals to the lyrics. Superb track. 4. Oh, What A World - 7 The autotone part is the only thing keeping this song from a ten. It's very good and really inspiring otherwise. 5. Mother - 4 It's a pretty stale slow song. 6. Love Is A Wild Thing - 10 Brilliant track. Excellent lyrics and a brilliant sound make this song absolutely fantastic. Musgraves does have an amazing voice for a track like this too. Simply superb. 7. Space Cowboy - 7 Standard country song. Some really fantastic lyrics on this track. It's good. 8. Happy & Sad - 8 Brilliant country track. I don't usually like an upshift in octave through the bridge, I usually like a guitar solo or a more mellow bridge. This and Space Cowboy both have that upshift and which I don't necessarily enjoy it in Space Cowboy, it works really well here with the lyrics that guide it the whole way. 9. Velvet Elvis - 5 Drums are really good but it feels like the guitar is being suffocated on this track and lyrcially it's no where near the other stuff on the album. 10. Wonder Woman - 6 It's a good track. It's nothing phenomenal but it's well written and enjoyable. 11. High Horse - 6 Not so much a country song as it is a pop song but overall it's not a bad track. 12. Golden Hour - 4 It's okay. It's not really a great track. Feel lyrically very forced. Insturmentally it's good. 13. Rainbow - 10 Brilliant slow song. Really enjoyable love song. Fantastic way to end the album. Average Rating: 6.85 Adjusted to a 5-Point Scale: 3.42 Rounded Down: 3 Stars
Def a vibe. A couple of the songs were extra enjoyable but in general I couldn’t distinguish one from the other. I might throw this on in the background but nothing more
Eh, middle of the road, boring country
#734. The description of this says country, but it surely isn't that. This is pop music in the same category as Natasha Bedingfield or Norah Jones. It's fine as far as easy listening pop music goes, I guess. 3/5: acceptable
Franchement je m'attendais à détester et j'ai trouvé ça cool
Nice
12/10/2025 Surprisingly I had never heard of her. This was okay, can't imagine I would give it another listen. Spotify listeners: 17 million

This is too much in the pop realm for me. I would have prefered a more straight up country record. 3.5 stars
I thought this was a pretty good album. My main beef with it is probably that it leans too far into pop a lot of the time -- there's like a pop sheen that I don't think needs to be there, and somewhat related is I find Kacey's vocal delivery kind of off-putting at times. It's like she's trying to walk the line between country and pop and it comes off kind of weird on some of the songs. Still, there's a number of good, catchy songs on here, including "Slow Burn", "Butterflies", and the highlight for me, "Rainbow". 3.5 stars.
3.5
what a lovely record. such a pleasant listen
This album goes down easy. Couldn't be more appropriately named. But essential? Maybe in the way a perfectly broken in warm blanket is essential on a cool fall night.
Not too bad. Doesn't really sound like the pop country out now
Ah yes, her honeymoon record. This album was a big deal around when I really had my finger on the proverbial pulse, so it’s strange to realize I hadn’t listened to it in full. Seven years late is better than never I suppose. She has a lovely, classic-yet-contemporary country voice and her writing is usually strong. Production is understated but not undercooked. Too bad about the marriage itself I guess, but what it's a good record.
Quite a pleasant surprise. Like a nice summer breeze that cools you off but is also carrying just the slightest whiff of manure or fermenting silage. But just the slightest.
Gentle country
A singer songwriter, nominally country, inoffensive unlike many vocalists in the genre who are primarily annoying, but also nothing really memorable on here either.
Not my vibe, but very nice, if I were to listen to country this is what I would listen to
Was expecting to dislike this, but actually it's quite a pretty album! Will probably give it another spin in the future.
Listening to the first song I expected this to be a straight forward modern country album, not knowing anything about Kacey Musgraves. I was surprised by just how pop-y the following tracks were, though despite a heap of production I still ended up liking most of the tracks. I don't know how often I would come back to this, but I would be curious to try out more of Kacey's albums. 3.4/5
Too pop, not enough (classic) country, but still decent. Nice voice.
Warm and cozy, an optimistic burst of pure high spec pop country production informed by 2 decades of rustic acoustic indie singer songwriters. Tasteful songs cleverly adding new shades while still coloring comfortably within the traditional lines. Distinctive melodic phrasing. Lush arrangements bringing in soaring slides, dabbling in electronic sounds, and leaning heavily into rich orchestration.
Surprised, but just not for me and generally a little boring
Pretty good. Very chillded

short and solid
Mid country pop album. I can see the appeal but not for me.
What’s most impressive about this is that it was released nearly 8 years ago and has since become a bit of a modern country ‘classic’, appearing in this list of course but also on many music publications’ decade-end lists, including that one high-profile Apple music all time list. The music itself isn’t half bad either. I’ve noted before with Willie Nelson that whilst proper bare-bones country or ‘country pop’ isn’t something I seek out to listen, when I do it’s always very lovely. This is no exception, and its increased scope via the pop angle does it many favours. There’s plenty of writers credited here, which you may be surprised at given a lot of the songs’ seemingly juvenile lyrical content. Making up for that though is the songs that have both great lyrics alongside great sounds (Slow Burn, Mother, Happy & Sad) and the standout song whose lyrics you’ve heard a thousand times before, but never in this countrified, blended form of pure homeliness, Love Is a Wild Thing. Golden Hour got all of its critical and listener praise because of both its accessibility and its thought-out musicianship. It’ll convert most anybody to revel in its lush, darn tootin’ sound.
I've heard some of these songs in the background of life at the time, she was very popular. Enjoyed most of these songs, well produced and she has a nice voice. Some creative use of vocoder as well. Wikipedia tells me she's "woke" compared to most contemporary country singers, I appreciate that. I really like the song with the vocoder on the chorus. I'll give this three stars but probably wouldn't go back to this unless I had someone visiting that liked country and I wanted to appease their tastes while not subjecting myself to Morgan Wallen or some other crap
Slow Burn is great and the rest of the record never gets back there.
I enjoyed the change of pace on this album. Although, and not trying to be rude, it felt like a generic late 20teens 2020s country pop album. However some good songs on the album, well put together with great vocals and I personally enjoy the country zeitgeist. But max it can score for me is 3
This was fine but not my favorite. Good voice though
