Reviews (page 13 of 14)

not for me. I can see why he was important to music history but it is just not my cup of tea

This one was more of a miss for me. I didn't think the music itself was all that complex or interesting. A few different guitar chords on each song. I think its mostly the lyrics that are supposed to be so great, but it just kind of droned on and on. I get they are powerful like "Masters of War", but I got bored.

I prefer the simplicity of this in comparison to other Dylan albums I have been subjected to, and it did evoke a particular time as I listened to it. However, Johnny Cash did this sort of thing so much better, and more playfully. My attention drifted by about the 5th song.

I found this very cold listening. For all his lyrical genius, it sounded more like a shopping list being read out by a dude in the subway. Talkin' World War III Blues was a little unsettling to hear once again

Ненавижу губную гармошку. И слушать тембр Боба Дилана больше, чем пару песен подряд - совсем не моё

4/8/2025

Sorry, I just don't enjoy listening to this. I've tried. Quite a few times. I just find it boring.

Not for me.

Oy. That fucking harmonica! I swear. I was halfway through Girl from the North Country, and genuinely falling in love with the song. For once, there was a truly beautiful song from Bob Dylan, that I could actually enjoy. And then that motherfucking harmonica came screaming out of nowhere, for no good reason. And now I just want to cry. Masters of War is great. There’s no question that his songwriting is brilliant. It’s clear why this record landed like a bomb on the youth culture of the time. The influence off this one is ridiculous. Everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Beck has tried to do their version of this album. Down the Highway, A Hard Rain, Don’t Think Twice, Corrina Corrina - all solid. Except for that goddamn harmonica. Like, if this album just didn’t have that painful mini bagpipe screeching through every song, I would genuinely love the fuck out of this album. But as it is, I have to stop, or I’m going to smash something. Seriously, how much do I need to drink, to make this stop hurting my brain? I tried. All the parts without the harmonica were very nice. But I still prefer covers of Bob Dylan songs, just because of that arrestingly painful harmonica. Please kill me. It hurts.

I heard the Songs in the good old days. But there it's where they should stay

Very American. It's ok.

qualche canzone decente (blowing in the wind) ma non sono una fan

As quite a keen urbanist I can't help but feel like most of Bob's issues with roads could have been solved with a decent rail network. The parts of this that were a protest album were pretty good, but it was brought down by the bits that were a love letter to a vision of a country that I think sounds like hell. 2/5. Needs more harmonica.

Honestly Bob, I could have done with a lot more structured wheelin’. I generally enjoy Bob Dylan and can understand why this was a landmark album, but I struggle to enjoy this 62 years later, especially over some of his later material.

I am certainly more of a Bob Dylan fan now, but I’m just not into most of his songs and harmonica playing on this record.

Bob Dylan is undoubtedly one of the greatest songwriters ever, it's just unfortunate that he's the one singing the songs. Some of these weren't too bad, but between Bob Dylan's grating voice and the often ear-piercingly sharp harmonica, it's not always the most pleasant of listens.

Not for me

Think the harmonica is broken. Blowin' In The Wind is alright.

First listen Saved 5/13 Top track: Don't Think Twice, It's All Right

Aburrido para el que no está acostumbrado al género. No me enganchó.

Nothing personal I just hate this man’s’ voice.

life is too short to listen to bob dylan

Viele Songs kannte ich durch Interpretationen anderer Bands. Das war interessant.

I guess it could be worse. It could be a Neil Young album 🤷🏻‍♂️

Freewheelin bob dylan - sera un genio para muchos pero para mi su musica es aburrida y predecible a estas alturas. Entiendo que en su epoca fue groundbreaking pero a mi me la masca. Fuk this dude

Too much fucking harmonica!

Just not my scene

Fucking in love with this album AND i can learn to play it on the guitar anyways. this slaps. the harmonica = a little bit much sometimes. however. a classic. also by the end i was very much ready for there to be no more folksy guitar whiny harmonica in my life. can't not love it though it's bob dylan. hm so i listened a little more and actually i don't love it god he just KEEPS GOING

I tried. I just can't.

I’m just not a Bob Dylan fan but I understand his impact.

Best Songs: N/A Listen Again: Probably not

I am not, nor ever have been a fan and this album did nothing to alter my opinion. He can't sing, just speaks in a monotone drawl. 2* because it didn't hurt my ears and wasn't rap !

Still don't like Bob Dylan. I thought this was worse than Friday's album.

stupid harmonica

La harmónica es un poco triste

Pretty decent

Sin mas, no es Bob muy santo se mi devoción. Tiene que gustarte mucho su música para realmente valorarlo.

I have to say I had doubts about the first song, but at the end I loved it, the instrumental chorus in my left ear is soo fun, plus the way he says the name of the song makes it more fun. This is a historical album so I'm not gonna see the meanings, because I have seen this one's and it was wayy too long, school vibes nuh-uh. I don't like that whole song sounds the same, second song has no particular uniqueness, oop nevermind that instrument came in, I love this song too. Has a karaoke vibe also. The guitar in my right ear is very fun indeed. Third song is again karaoke vibed, no weird instrument, which is bad. Quite basic, wouldn't listen to this one again. I do like the lyrics I must say. 4th song speeds up the guitar playing, love that. Nothing else is really different. Just his voice sometimes breaks on purpose. Finally weird instrument is back in 5th song, love love that.(I just don't know it's name I've heard of before obviously). I like this song just because of the "chaos" that instrument creates. 6th song, again amazing construction of the words, but such a boring song still. And 7 minutes. First time I backgrounded the song in this project. Magic instrument has lost itself in the 7th song, one thing that keeps me going is getting boring too. 8th song started like Beatles, yet it's another same-sounding uninteresting songg. It has the magnificent instrument, yet I feel like he could do more with that thing. I feel like he is a songwriter, but not a singer. I like folk but I guess not this type of one. 9th one is a short, and it has an unique sound of bob. This is the only song I find interesting in the way he sings it and it's short?! I said this about temptations too, these guys don't know what's actually good, or it's just me. Back with the lovely instrument in the 10th song, and with the not so good singing, Oxford town had better vocalss. Quite disappointed, but the lyrics are too good to ignore. 11th song has a character I think, it is repetitive but in a good way. Big instrumental break for the magic instrument, he thought of me, what a nice guy. 12th is the first one that starts with that cute instrument. Also it's upbeat?! Could have done this before, but yeah the theme is melancholic. This is what I mean by being different, little "hou hou"s was smth I didn't expect. Last song is also upbeat, what's happening to you Bob. Worst rhymes I've ever seen. Also this is apparently a rewrote song. I low key like the way he says names, which have connection to eachother obviously, which I don't know. To sum up, I'll rate this 2, just because of that weird(in a good way) instrument, otherwise this is a 1, I'd never want to listen to this, maybe nostalgia, but I can't listen to this just because it has a big meaning. I feel bad for rating temptations 1 and this 2, they were fun at least.

No es mi estilo de música pero me a gustado la música 🎼 Relajante

Very good folk singer, this album not for me

I enjoyed this to begin with, it's a good mellow vibe. But I didn't care for the last 4 songs at all

It is what it is

гармошка это пиздец первые две песни совсем невыносимы, дальше местами больно, но привыкаешь Girl from the North Country напомнила Paseenger Down the Highway напоминает какое-то очень сочинительство находу когда человек который не играет на гитаре, взял поиграть Talkin' World War III Blues похож на частушки под гитару

Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?: not really, a bit too lethargic in energy for me Favourite song: didn’t have one

Never been into Dylan, this didn’t help

It wasn't great, some songs were good, mostly just Dylan style rambling punctuated with harmonica

I can acknowledge Dylan is an amazing writer but I don't think I'll ever get on board with him as a singer. His duet with Johnny Cash on 'Girl From the North Country' is made better for not being sung entirely by him. I hated this less than I thought I would, but don't think I'll make an effort to listen to this again.

Meh. Not my cup of tea no matter how talented.

I understand why this album is considered one of the greatest albums ever. I’m sure this would be amazing live and was seen as novel when Bob Dylan released this album. I’m not going to be listening to this album again on my own. Sorry Bob.

Honestly not my thing, which is fine. Definitely not a bad album by any means, but I would probably never revisit it. I think it was definitely an important album for its time, but it's just not something I would ever listen to (which ig is the point of this site). I honestly find Dylan's voice kind of annoying, which is most likely why I prefer his stuff with The Dead, The Band, or the Traveling Wilbury's, where other artists can pick up the slack.

Hippie folk shit

I don’t think i’m a Bob Dylan fan tbh, I like some of the instrumentals on the album and the fact that his voice sounds so raw and not heavily edited or studio recorded. I just don’t think it’s my style of music, very slow and heavy relying on acoustic guitars.

BORING

This is my first taste of Bob Dylan and I don't know if it's the best album to start off with. There was no backbone to the tracks and his vocals aren't the strongest, but the lyrics are written well. This album gives the vibe of a dad who's bought his guitar to sing around the campfire on a camping trip. Stand out tracks: Blowin' in the Wind,

folk isn't my favorite

this album is very slow but i understand the relevance

Hit and miss with some of the songs, blowing in the wind is definitely my favourite, really makes me want to actually play the harmonica - also it does a very good job of transporting me to a different time and place, even if i don’t enjoy all the music… thank god i won’t have to listen to it in its entirety again.

Couldn’t finish it. There’s something about Bob Dylan’s voice that never ceases to annoy me.

Not my type

He was like, "all right, maybe I can make my own voice sound less annoying if I contrast it with this fucking harmonica."

I hate harmonica.

I’m never going to be a Dylan fan I think

Great songwriter can't save horrible vocals. Not my deal.

Bob Dylan is not famous bc of the harmonies and musicality, right? For the lyrics maybe? Anyway, I don’t get the hype.

Nope. Maybe if it wasn't back to back...

- cool storytelling - too countryish for my taste

Didn't get it, not for me

I don't get Bob Dylan, and never will. I don't like his vocals or whiny lyrics, and his music is folk/country, so I just don't get why people think this his music is so legendary... I'd call it annoying.

It will be very interesting. If Mr. Dillon carries over to a next generation or S, the younger generation these days decide to pass him over and consider him boring. Outside of a few songs, I do not find him interested at all, and out that my kids will ever enjoy him.

Honestly don't get it with him. Sounds like a busker.

He may have been a cultural icon for his time... but I'm not of his time.

I do not like that man Bob D, singing way too nasally. Harmonica near burst my ears, The rest of it bored me to tears. There's five more albums to come Blow more wind right out yer bum.

Appreciate the bluesy twang, an album to relax to. I didn't mind it, but very whiny voice with a lot of harmonica. Didn't appreciate the line about "5 & 10 cent women" that inplied sex workers have nothing in their head.

Bobby D back again with another sure shot! This heat is for all them poet's out there and beatnik chicks that wouldn't give Bobby the time of day until he dropped this heater!

Idk this is so mid for me, 2.

i did like the background guitar and the folksy feel of the music, but i couldn’t really enjoy the album because i just didn’t like his voice. it felt like he was talking instead of singing, and his voice was too scratchy and country sounding for me. also, the harmonica was cool at first but then it just became kind of annoying. i did like the song “a hard rain’s a-gonna fall” though.

The least interesting Dylan album yet

I find this guy very annoying from a music standpoint. If it was him singing and another band in the background I'd be much happier.

BEST SONG: -A Hard Rain's A Gonna-Fall

very different to what im used to- not bad, i liked the harmonica but probably wont listen to it again. not really my thing

Couldn't get the ambulm

I mean, it's fine. Not much of a singer-songwriter guy, so it's at a disadvantage with me. It's odd how his voice isn't so distinct yet. It kinda just sounds normal, which I'm unsure if that's a plus or not. I'm kinda used to his voice now. Anyway, none of the songs really caught my attention. My favourite song would be Girl from the North Country.

I love Dylan, but not this side of him.

Blowin’ In The Wind, Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right, Bob Dylan’s Dream 2.5-3/5

To much harmonica for me.

I want to give this a slightly higher rating for the lyrics, but I just can't because of the delivery. Most of the songs have the same guitar strumming pattern and chords, his voice is rough at best, and that harmonica is quite often ear piercing.

2/5 Best: Masters of War Worst: Down the Highway

Bob Dylan is not my jam.

Uh man, this album is just a drag. It wore me down into the ground. And give the harmonica a fucking rest man! It's not big and it's not clever.

Alright so I'm not a fan of Dylan's music and have listened to a few of his albums prior to this one. This one is not as horrendous as his other nonsense, especially with the megahit of "Blowin' in the Wind" and a couple other songs which I'd consider to be listenable. That said, Bob Dylan is the most overrated musical artist ever and that is not an exaggeration. I saw another review and felt they hit the nail right on the head, "Important? Sure. Historical? Yes. Fun to listen to? No." 4/10.

As usual with Dylan, the song-writing is excellent, but the performance is so riddled with affectation and obnoxious harmonica that the songs fall far short of what they could be. This is why covers of Dylan songs are usually much better than Dylan's recordings.

Every Bob Dylan song sounds the same to me when casually listening.

I know and recognize that he is one of the most influential artists but that harmonica really made me angry. I have no other way to deceive it other than it was overused and a wee obnoxious. I’ve heard worse, I’ve heard better. I wouldn’t really listen to this again but I do understand his impact.

I just don't get Bob Dylan's appeal. I mean, for the time, sure, this would work. However, it loses its luster and I just can't attach to it.

I do like Bob Dylan, but I have to be in a particular mood to listen to him as there's only so much harmonica one can listen to

- I'm sick of this guy - 2.5

Really not my cup of tea but there are some classics on there and it could be worse

He pulls me in with lyricism and a unique singing voice (and he was so young on this album, it’s wild to think this is not an older man), and then he reminds me why I haven’t generally listened to Bob Dylan every time he wails on that god forsaken harmonica. It’s fine some of the time, but other times a delightful acoustic guitar track is slaughtered at the altar of that damnable aerophone.

Nuotiopiiricountrya. Ensimmäinen kappale "Blowin' in the wind" on klassikko, mutta loppulevy jatkaa samaa kaavaa. Kitara, huuliharppu ja tarinankertoja.

Just not a fan of dylan.

2.5/5 Best: Blowin’ in the Wind Worst: Masters of War It would be a lot better if he had a good voice

He can write. He can play. But he can’t sing.

I don’t like Bob Dylan much. Didn’t have much of a reaction to this.

Surprised to see this was from 1963… in my head, I picture this being released much later in the 60s. Not something I would ever deliberately listen to again.

I don’t get all the love for Dylan

Less bad than the last Bob Dylan album (blonde on blonde) but still so boring. Maybe if we just keep the harmonica parts it would be enjoyable.

How is this so highly rated?! IT SUCKS. 2/5.

This was a bit classic, but a bit trying.

Het is geen slechte zanger en sommige liedjes zijn wel leuk. Maar de meeste nummers zijn langdradig, saai en klinken erg kaal. **

Never been my thing - I like a melody too much, or someone who can actually sing

This shit fucking sucks. Every song sounds the exact same. Guitar, Harmonica, and shiity southern singing. 4/10. This shit would only sound good if it was played as background music for like 3 minutes in a movie. Halfway through and I'm already bored as fuck. I've listened to Jazz albums wit no singin that had more variety and fun than this shit. Ight now that I'm done, the album is now a 3/10. I'll never listen to this dogshit again. Those people in the cover were paid to look happy for the album, but were prolly depressed from how ass this album was.

Good, typical Dylan but not something I'm into much

Fan van de songwriting, minder fan van hoe het door Bob wordt afgeleverd.

Although I can appreciate the political and social messages given in the album, it still isn't good. All of the songs sound the same, and the background music is not very interesting. Still too much harmonica

He got stuff to say but he doesn’t shred and shredding is what’s most important to me

Not really my style of music.

decent background music lots of harmonica not really my go to genre

Just pure ass folk music. Blowin in the wind is a classic, but the rest of the album is just forgettable. I did not really listen to the lyrics though. I'm sure there's stuff deeper but musically I just find it boring.

this album gave me anxiety, no thanks Bob xx

Too depressing for me

How many Bob Dylan albums are in this thing?! Masters of War is a great tune, but a lot of this just feels too sappy for me.

I found it completely boring and musically just not that interesting

i hesitate to find out how much bob dylan is on this list. i appreciate hearing more of dylan's discography, because i can understand how he's culturally significant ("blowin' in the wind"!!!) and i can see how he grew as an artist. but i didn't enjoy this album. it isn't bad by any stretch; it's just not for me. too folk-y, too bluesy, too harmonica-y. good lyrics! good message. but that's about all.

One thing I noticed about this album is that it is really stripped down and low key compared to most of the Bob Dylan stuff I know, save for the interspersed harmonica moments. I guess I didn't realize that some of his earliest stuff was just him and his guitar. While this was his second album, this was the first where he actually wrote the vast majority of his own lyrics. If anything, this project has shown me firsthand what a great songwriter Dylan is. I am still just not into him as a vocalist, though, and his musical style isn't usually to my liking, either.

Ei parasta antia

Not a big Dylan fan. I found a few on here I liked, but so much is just nonsense folk music.

Ik weet dat veel muzikanten Dylan hoog hebben zitten, maar ik heb het nooit begrepen.

Tja, ik ontkom toch niet aan het gevoel dat ik Dylan dit al vaker heb horen doen. Veel vaker.

I remain impervious to the charms of Mr Zimmerman...

I enjoyed this years ago. Today it sounds a bit old and weak. Not unlike me.

I appreciate what Dylan did for music, still not a huge fan.

Bob Dylan - not for me

I have a few issues with this. Firstly, you have to get past the voice, which must be an acquired taste. Secondly, the lack of melody makes this album hard work to listen to. If there is genius in there somewhere, it's buried so deeply as to be inaccessible. The album sounds quite raw. It presents as if it was recorded quickly and before the songs had been fully worked-up. I assume that is the style Dylan was going for, but to me it just sounds like a collection of demos which need finishing and finessing. Overall, a boring and displeasing listen. 1.5/5.

I think I've made my feelings on Bob Dylan clear by this point. His voice and vocal style will always ruin it for me. The first half of this album is tolerable, but I got to a point in the second half where I just had to turn it off. 2 stars since I made it at least that far.

So boring Roz though I was listening to the album on repeat. Rinse repeat Dylan.

American, 60s, Blues/Folk + Important = Male - Boring, oldish, folk, NFM {0/13}

I feel like I better understand now why people rave about Dylan as a songwriter, but I still cannot get on with him as a vocalist. Not super keen on the harmonica, either.

Bit tedious.

Bob...they all sound the same. Always good, but I'm not a true fan. 2/5 first listen.

I'm not the biggest fan of these "one-man" albums where it's just the singer with his guitar and occasionally a harmonica as I find it a bit boring. Sure it can be relaxing, but these require the specific mood of "near a campfire." Unfortunately, this requirement is rarely met. Favorite track: Blowin' in the Wind

blowin in the wind is a great song and steeped in history hard to believe he was only 22 Girl from the North Country - I am partial to a bit of harmonica as you often don't hear it in popular music Masters of War love that folk guitar - "You ain't worth the blood That runs in your veins" "And I'll stand over your grave 'Til I'm sure that you're dead" that is a pretty direct lyric i was not expecting it Down the Highway - pretty empty blues with one meaningful lyric "She packed it all up in a suitcase Lord, she took it away to Italy, Italy" I find some of this album tedious "I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul But don't think twice, it's all right" "And our choices, they was few so the thought never hit That the one road we traveled would ever shatter or split" is a great lyric Most of the album seems to be essentially a breakup album with a bit of blues, folk and war thrown in It probably says more about me than the album but I wish I could play this on a higher speed, one song has 12 verses a harmonica solo and an outro it is just too much for me 3rd and 2nd last songs are covers and amonst the best "But I ain't got Corrina Life don’t mean a thing" the 2nd last song is much better than most of the rest of the album, much less slow and peppy. the last song is not a cover but borrows heavily "What do we need to make the country grow?” I said, “My friend, John, Brigitte Bardot Anita Ekberg Sophia Loren” Country'll grow" 2 - not for me but doesn't hurt my ears based on the rating

Blowing in the Wind is the highlight of the album. Probably won’t revisit.

Harmonica baby. Good for the soul 5/10

No conecte con el pero no está nada mal. ❤️

Methinks he doth protest too much - although some of the lyrics made me smile. Not for me tho!

J’ai plus aimé l’autre album de Bobby. C’est ok mais bon..Next.

classic bob dylan

Ehh it was fine, but I'm not a huge fan of bob dylan.

Bob Dylan has never been my thing but it’s okay for what it is

Nuja. "Hard Rain..." ist aber ein schönes und stimmiges Lied.

Typ hat mit der Platte damals Amerika überzeugt. Bei mir kriegt er dafür bei nächster Gelegenheit sicher auch wieder ne Chance. Erstmal Woody Guthrie hören jetzt.

Not for me, nuff said.

Felt very improvisational. Not my favorite Dylan record

Like Bob Dylan but don't love this album. Hard Rain, Don't Think Twice are good songs. Never was a fan of Blowing in the Wind.

not exactly my cup of tea but found his storytelling entertaining. that man loves his harmonica

I did give it a listen, it was fine.

meh, wasn't really feelin it.

It's not good, but it's better than any of his other albums.

Trop bavard.

I know I should like Bob Dylan but I just don’t. Can he actually harmonica?

Had songs I love but would probably never went to listen to the whole album

band is alright but his voice is just grating

RIP to my ears when that harmonica played

I keep trying but I can’t stand his voice (or harmonicas)

F Bob Dylan... you keep throwing his crappy voice at me and I keep trying to figure out how to give him minus stars.

Pretty poor, only one good song, definitely not Blowing in the Wind. Pretty shite.

C'est un album 100% lyrics mais j'aime pas la sonorité. J'ai pas été touché du tout :( Je me suis ennuyé du début à la fin

Comment c'était nul, l'harmonica m'a rendu fou

Oh brother.. not more Bob. I suffered through his Live Show album. 😭😭 I can’t get behind this type of folk music and Dylan’s voice just isn’t it.

3/10 - bloody hell this is a drag, so overrated

still do not like his voice or cadence

Hated it a little less than the last Bob Dylan album I heard, but I wouldn't say I'm becoming a fan.

Nah. I tried to listen to the first song, but it's just the anthesis of what I like in music. It's just mediocre poetry sung in a grating voice accompanied by two chords on the guitar. I can understand why Bob Dylan is on this list, but there is no good reason why he should be here 7 times. I am not going to waste an entire working day listening to him, so I won't. I am vetoing Bob Dylan.

Well, my morning started off pretty shit and I have to wait for the train for half an hour. "But" I think hopefully. "At least I have time to listen to the album of today now, hope it'll be something good." It is then that I see that I got a Bob Dylan album for today. It was then that I knew that this would be a pretty long fucking morning...

God, that was a tedious 50 mins. Confirmed all my preconceptions about Dylan.

Tough listen. Extremely folksy and mostly just highlit Dylan’s voice, which is an acquired taste at best. Couldn’t finish. Grating.

sorry, not for me ?/10 Will I add this album to my library? no

I dont hate Bob Dylan but I hate Bob Dylan. I think he is much like Bruce Springsteen, the people who love him are fanatic and to others it barely passes for music

Blessedly only 50 minutes. I can conceptually understand liking one or two of these, but back-to-back they're lethal tedium punctuated with harmonica.

Thoroughly bored while listening. All this album seems to be is this nasaly man twittering and whining over literally the same chord progression for 5 minutes at a time. The premises for this albums seems to be if you took Johnny Cash and him whiney, shit, and boring. And I'm also indifferent to his music at the best of times too. At one point the album was really quiet and I couldnt make out the words so I turned it up then 2 minutes later I got my ears BLASTED by a screeching harmonica at ear-splitting volume droning the same note for 20 seconds. Id honestly rather go listen to the White Stripes album again that this. Big fat 1.

I’ve listened to a lot of Bob Dylan, and it’s been pretty good. This isn’t good though. For some reason his voice is unbelievably annoying on this album but not on the other ones.

Not for me. I will never ever understand.

Lo escuché mientras hacia cosas de la facultad. Demasiada armónica

No me gusto. Canciones muy parecidas. Practicamente solamente es el y la guitarra en todo el disco y eso no me gusto.

not my cup of tea

some guitar, a nasally voice talk/singing a few words and then some harmonica. If you like the sound of that repeated for an hour this album is for you. I appreciate and understand Dylan's influence, but this is not in my wheelhouse at all

I don't think I can sit through seven of these albums

Harmonica torture hell. Except for Masters of War, which I liked. Not enough for a star though

Not a big fan...I find Bob Dylan's voice kind of whiny and annoying.

I just can't enjoy this man's voice. I actually liked most of the instrumentation (sans harmonica), but that's kind of like saying I'm enjoying this bowl of ice cream that happens to have a dog turd plopped on top. I guess I could just eat around it, but.....no. There's plenty of turd-free ice cream out there, so I'll pass on this one.

Bob Dylan sucks

Kuuntelin tämän kun seinäjojella käväsin. Ja olihan se tylsää ja unettavaa. Tämmöisen muzakin kuuntelu autolla ajaessa pitäisi kieltää lain voimalla ettei tapahtuisi rattiin nukahtelua.

Oh no. The day that I have to play Bob Dylan unfortunately arrived. Although I have never played any of his albums in full but if a "best of" didn't convinced me, a album would not do it, right? Yes, right. Nothing good here. "Blowin' in the Wind" is digestible but the rest is, well, Dylan.

Just not a fan…never have been.

Extremely tedious and boring. The spoken-word vocals grated on me - lyrics seemed to matter more than the music - and the all-acoustic background musicianship wasn’t compelling enough to keep my attention, very repetitive with bursts of jarring harmonica. 2 stars for Blowin’ in the Wind and A Hard Rains A-Gunna Fall - maybe you have to be there, or a folk fan, to enjoy the rest.

The fourth circle of Bob Dylan's Harmonica Hell has revealed itself to me. I should have expected his return. I rolled Mr. Tamourine Man by the Byrds three or four albums ago, whose title track was composed by the man of the hour. I guess I can brave another hour of his music - I'm well rested after 150 albums of non-Dylans. It takes a lot to navigate the climes of his discography. The terrain is all rough and jagged, and I'm constantly warding off screeching harpies and protecting my virgin ears from those accursed hardemonicas. Here goes. Yeah, it's another Bob Dylan album. The harmonicas were less pronounced on this one, which I appreciate. Other than that, I still struggle to see the appeal of his music. I really, really, really do not understand why he's seen as a premier lyricist and songwriter when his songs are nigh indistinguishable from one another. There's no intricate or catchy vocal melodies across any of his songs and he spends the entire duration of them waffling about random, boring bullshit. I cannot stress how samey his vocals are to me. Every second of every song is delivered in this strained, shitty vocal tone that just drives me up the wall. The instrumentals aren't his worst showing, but they still have that overblown quality that I don't like. Overall, yeah. Not a fan of this one. Despite my wholesale objection to Bob Dylan. I mean, I guess he's earned his stripes... Maybe. The music press is making up friggen loco lies, man. I'm the only dude bad enough to be immune to their propaganda. Anyways, Bob Dylan has a legacy befitting of seven list albums, so I like to think I have this recommendation on good authority. I cosign this inclusion.

Boring. Man with an accoustic guitar and a harmonica philosophizing over the state of the world. Besides his lyrics there isn't anything mildly interesting on this album. The songs all sound the same to me and I find his voice unpleasent. I get why this album was important at that time, still I'd be happy to never hear it again.

BORIIIIIIIING

Werd ich nicht warm mit tbh. 1-2

I hate this man. I hate his voice. Cannot do it, so sorry. Will be an hater until the day I die.

I hate this bitch. If I wanted to listen to someone sing poorly I would get on the mic at karaoke.

A man rambling away and a guitar. And sometimes a little harmonica so you know you're not listening to the same song on loop Extremely boring

So this is number 4 of the 7 Bob Dylan albums on here and you could say I’ve had a love/hate relationship with his music, just without the love lol. This one started positively though. I actually quite liked Blowin' In The Wind. I was thinking maybe this is the album where it clicks and I start to appreciate his music. That positivity died during track 2, the harmonica during the last 15 seconds went right through me. The album fell rapidly downhill from there and in the end this was probably my least favourite of his so far.

not my cup of tea

not my cup of tea. It wouldn't be so bad if it was my type of genre but no.

Didnt enjoy it tbh

Rubbish

Initially I was bored, now I'm offended I don't know what he's yapping about but I'd rather he stopped. I hate his voice. The music isn't at all interesting or challenging so I'm doing my best to tune it out. Unfortunately this damn harmonica makes my ears hurt more than my bloody valentine live (I love mbv). Is this meant to be a comedy sketch? The lyrics sound like he went to a pub found the most drunk person in the room and started writing down their drunken ramblings... Except that would probably be better. It even ended with a fade out but at least it's over 1

I recognize the first song of the album. I feel like the Lumineers would love Bob Dylan. Songs feel like stories. Good start to the album but my enjoyment started to go down after the second song. Harmonica ON. Enunciation OFF. Difficult listen. Not my style. Bob, you’re starting to piss me off… I Shall be Free is the final song of the album. I felt that

Bob Dylan, 4eme album => 1/5

MWEH meh mleh

Yet another boring ass singer/songwriter album. Too many.

YAY my first Bob Dylan album. I was dreading this day. One down, six left to go, someone shoot me pls. Thinking that THIS is Americans' folk music ALMOST makes me feel bad for them. I'm not sure the British are doing any better? I won't make myself listen to that, not after today. Why is it so boring? Folk around (most of) the world is so interesting, such a great way to learn and understand a culture. Now that I think about it, this fits the Americans actually, I mean how much culture can a 250 years old nation have? I'm sure that the folk music the natives have (from which they surely haven't stolen any components just to add their european spin on it, like everything else there) is better than this contemporary stuff. I hate that this 20th century folk became a thing, traditional folk is miles ahead of this shit.

It's Bob Dylan. I understand the hype, but not my music.

In 2002, Freewheelin' was one of the first 50 recordings chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The best part about music is that its subjective to the listener. This listener gave this record a shot for the first time in a long time. I took into consideration just how important Bob Dylan to music and culture not just during his heyday but how much he has inspired generations of musicians. I often admire the songs he has written that have been reworked and performed by other artists so yes, maybe my now more mature 50 year old ears will appreciate his music performed by the man himself. Here are my thoughts upon relistening: This guys voice sucks and this blows.

The last time a Dylan album came up I had a headache and his voice didn’t help that at all. This time I don’t have a headache, but boy am I getting one. I just really find his voice too whiny and whilst I can appreciate he made a massive contribution to culture in the 60’s and is a musical icon - I just don’t like his voice. There was a reason I ended up binging Joan Baez after watching The Complete Unknown and not Dylan. Not sure I can finish this album.

Juste vraiment pas terrible. Le style de Bob Dylan ne fonctionne pas forcément avec toutes les chansons.

Oh man. Not for me, Clive 6 more albums of *this*? Sings like an unholy cross of a donkey and cat is being skinned alive, and then the fucking harmonica kicks in making you feel as if someone simultaneously sodomized the poor donkey/cat with a particularly hot pepper. No amount of great lyrics can save the boring music and awful singing. This is not a fun listening experience. I guess the second half of the album was somewhat better, but still.

Unbelievable! How does this fraud keep coming up?

This was a difficult listen for me. I don't like folk music. Every song sounded the same and the harmonica was so jarring at times. Bob Dylan definitely had his moments, but they are just not for me.

There was false hope at the beginning that maybe Bob Dylan would be better. I was wrong and I still feel like Bob Dylan is sucking out the soul from my body.

If there is one thing that this project is proving to me is that Bob Dylan is not that good.

This is just a guy singing by a campfire making up lyrics as he goes. And, like, he's pretty good at it as campfire singers go, but there's a reason why people don't line up to see the one guy at a frat party who brings an acoustic guitar. I don't like Bob Dylan.

I'm aware this is going to be controversial, but I found this really boring and one note for large parts. Lyrically it's excellent, but sonically it failed to capture my imagination.

God I fucking hate Bob Dylan. Unfortunately can never esacpe the harmonica solos. Terrible artist, shit singer, awful lyricist and in general this man drains my will to live.

Harmonica

There are some genres I don’t understand, get, whatever you wanna call it. This is one of them. I guess because it’s not the late 60s protesting against war or whatever, I don’t feel it. Idk, it puts me to sleep.

excruciating

Worst singing voice in history. I’d take Biz Markie over Dylan any day of the work.

I don't care about Bob Dylan. This is another artist where better music would have been created by others had he not filled the space.

not for me

Album sucks. I hate Bob Dylan, especially when he rambles.

Boob Dylan

sorry but i will never like music like this. so boring.

Bob Dylan is white people reggae, there must be a brain fog from the 60s for people to think this shit is good.

I fought for my life during this. This is my second Bob Dylan this week and I think this guy just doesn't work for me. 1/5 stars.

No quiero

Bruh. Not the biggest fan of Bob Dylan and his voice which has been a newer realisation. This will be tough. edit: Could not finish, ahahahaha.

The only reason I gave this a one star is because I can't go any lower. Bob Dylan may be a good songwriter but he can't sing

No matter how hard I try, I just can’t get into it. More than ever, I feel Dylan’s strength has always been much more literary than musical. But musically, it does nothing for me, except maybe give off this vague sense that the guy and his songs were supposed to mean something in the US back then, but even that’s probably just the result of the constant, forced idealization of Dylan. I might feel differently if I had grown up in the US and in the 60s, …but I didn’t.

I went into this album with the intent of giving it a fair shake and it let me down in ways I couldn’t have even imagined. I understand he’s singing about important topics like war and racism in America but his lyricism is that of a child trying to write their first song. While riding on a train goin' west I fell asleep for to take my rest I dreamed a dream that made me sad Concerning myself and the first few friends I had are you joking — are we even being serious? does he just get a pass for free because of how *important* he is as an artist? or how there’s subtle beauty you just need to realize in it? pretentious, terrible, god awful singing voice, and fairly off beat.

"Talkin World War III Blues" is awful. Same with "I Shall Be Free", this song sucks. A couple of good songs here ("Don't think twice, it's alright" and "Blowin in the wind"), but the rest is just a guy with a terrible singing voice bangin out some chords on an acoustic guitar and rambling.

My poor ears ... I'm not a fan.

3/10 not fun to listen to and overall just a bad experience. Only 3 songs that were bearable to listen to. Going last on my list Top 3 Songs 1) Don’t Think Twice, It’s all right 2) Corrina, Corrina 3) Blowin’ in the wind

2/10 ngl A couple ok songs but not my cup of tea Respect what he did for music tho Top three songs: 1) don’t think twice it’s all right 2) masters of war 3) Blowin in the Wind

of a time. we've done better since.

This is the first album I got that I couldn't make it through. I don't mind the acoustic guitar with the singing that much, I just think that kind of music is boring, but I couldn't tolerate the harmonica.

This album came out in 1963, and somehow, the harmonica has STILL not been banned and it’s 2025. When the hilariously incongruous nails-on-chalk-board sound of the harmonica first waded blindly into the opening track I burst out laughing. It’s inconceivable that anyone would subject themselves to this sonic torture. I would understand it if there was some sort of attitude behind the music but it’s just lazy lyrical platitudes and half-hearted instrumentals. Addendum: His attempts at playing the blues are a travesty to the genre. 0.5/5.0: Unlistenable

Okay, I don't get it. There's obviously a lot of emotion and passion in this, but none of it really connects, nothing is just enjoyable as music.I think Bob Dylan's voice is just too much to look past for me, I don't know. The harmonica is also pretty grating. And really. naming two songs after yourself? Really? That's hilarious. I think I do get the appeal, it just doesn't really appeal to me.

I am sure it was legendary back in the day

Great first song. Not a natural Dylan fan. If i was on a long, really long car journey i could see myself listening to this on the night stretch when time has slowed down suitably to listen in. That any use?

I never cared for bob Dylan and I have to say after this I still dont.

I don't want any more Bob Dylan. Please.

i don't get it

The train of brutal ratings continues unabated. Fuckin’ Bob Dylan, man.

He undoubtedly wrote some fantastic songs and many acts covered them but Bob just can't sing and his nasal twang is awful. I've never understood his popularity.

Noioso, confermo che Bob Dylan non fa per me

Can't stand the vocal style not for me, never seen the attraction and knew this one would be a struggle. Didn't change my opinion

No more Bob Dylan please . 5 out of 100

can't stand bob dylan

[2/10] Lord deliver me from this tedious little fellow

There’s so much bad going on in the world today. Being forced to listen to this made it all somehow worse. It is better than the others of his thus far, but a better Bob Dylan album is still a fucking Bob Dylan album.

Country music is not very good. I think this album is bad because I'm not a big fan of country music. I don't like the voice of the singer and it doesn't flow with the guitar in the background. I think the lyrics aren't that good and they don't sound good with his voice or the guitar. I would not recommend this because I feel like the people I'm friends with like the same music as me.

my opinion is I don't like it and I would not recommend it because the first reason is that it's sad. second I don't like like the instruments. Third it just kinda weird. The second one I give a two because I just don't like it for many reasons. Third one I don't like, because its out of pitch and I don't like country songs.

I don't care for americana, country or folk, Dylan is especially bad for my ears, especially in his older age, the nasal gratings are too much for me. Like I've said many a time, I'm not a lyrics forward person and this album is all about lyrics. It literally only has acoustic guitar in the background, "harmonica solos" and not much more. I find it incredibly boring, as far as the music goes.

Terrible. This guy can’t sing, can barely play, and the lyrics are confused. I have no idea what the big deal has ever been.

Bob Dylan has to be the most polarizing artist ever. At any given point he is a random mix of genius, frustration, aggravation, annoyance, and contrived bullshit. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan is no exception to this rule. Blowin' in the Wind is a great opening track that sets the expectation high. From there it devolves into classic Bob Dylan fare which only gets worse as you continue to listen to it. It's hard to believe how obnoxious it actually gets in less than an hour. I'm always impressed how an icon of musical history and one of the world's most heralded folk music artists can make me want to punch him in the face so quickly. Bob Dylan is a musical icon for so many reasons. I've heard equal stories of how his shows range from transcendental experiences to absolute horseshit from various sources. For some reason his out of tune rambling is beloved by many fans. For others its a perfect example of how music from generations past is just a bunch of nonsense that doesn't hold up. While I recognize that Dylan has some timeless classics and is certainly a competent song writer, I land further on the side that he's an annoying blowhard who ignored all the advice over the years to shut the fuck up and cut the bullshit. Props to Bob Dylan for keeping it going and somehow carving out his spot in musical history despite the naysayers. I for one will give his stuff a listen when it pops up and quickly file the majority of it in the "what the hell am I missing here?" section. I lament the fact that we are about to see the release of the new Bob Dylan biopic featuring Timothee Chalomet. I expect to be spoonfed 2 hours of horrific bullshit that will surely flood the airwaves with more out of touch Bob Dylan discussions and shitty impressions. Sorry Bob but it's only 1.29 stars from me.

I wasn't overly impressed with this.

When people say they enjoy this I think they are lying. It's dreadful. A painful listen.

я не носитель аглицкого лангуаге - поэтому мне вот эти песни под пару аккордов на акустике с губной гармошкой вообще нихуя не дают. если там и пахнет нобелем - то я его не чую, простите.

I really can't stand this guy...

I'm not listening to Bob Dylan, terrible shit.

Does nothing for me, find the voice grating and depressing.

Ugh....Bob Dylan just can't sing. I get the appeal tho. The fact he was 22 when he made this album is also really cool. I get he was super influential but idk...every cover of a Bob Dylan song is better than his version. The song writing is pretty good but I know it gets better later in his career too (most of this album is covers). Probably more like 1.5 stars Favorite songs: Don't Think Twice, It's Alright and Blowin' in the Wind

God I hate his music

Not as bad as the previous Bob Dylan album I had to endure on this list, but still pretty tedious stuff.

This is probably the worst album I’ve listened to out of the over 300 so far. To beat Notorious B.I.G. is a challenge Old Bob seems to manage quite easily. Certainly one of the most painful albums, I’ve ever had the misfortune to listen to. It’s like a symphony of sharp nails on a row of blackboards, and then combine this with a flock of Magpies to chatter at you for 100 hours non stop. This is the affect this ghastly buskery tramp has on me. I’m trying to give Mr B a fair crack of the whip, but he isn’t compromising with my ears. If I could give this turd a 0 I would.

Flat af. Idk how he ever took off.

This is the 4th!!! Bob Dylan album. Oh boy, it s not good. I get it, he had a big cultural impact, but doesn't mean he was good. As a song writer he is okay, but as a singer... I don't get the obsession with him. I was bored and annoyed. Hopefully this is the last of his albums i have to listen to.

המפוחית שורטת לי את המח הכתיבה טובה, השירה לא אבל בסדר שירים ארוכים מדי, מרגישים כאילו נמשכים לנצח וממש רפטטיביים. אין חשיבה על לחן. כמו אודיובוק

Goated

Guess I’m a bob Dylan hater, doesn’t have as much nonsensical lyrics but I still don’t like his voice

Christ almighty, how many Dylan albums do we have to hear on this list. I guess if you are a Dylan fan you must be thrilled. But I'm also guessing you did way too much acid in the 60's and have since moved on the meth. Between his voice and way too much harmonica, I was over this album around song #2. I attempted a second listen just in case my personal hatred of all this dude's music impacted my first listen, but after coming close to ripping out my eardrums, it was just best to move on. Pretty confident the only time you get excited for a Cindy Lauper album is when you are currently listening to anything Dylan or Neil Young for that matter. NO MORE DYLAN. Negative score

Sorry Bob I just cannot do it

Oh ok its country, Why so much harmonica I thought there was an alarm in the house Boring, I'm sorry Bob I despise guitar strumming now How am I not halfway yet ffs At this point he's slowly blending into the background Why is Bob Dylan How is Bob Dylan Where is Bob Dylan When is Bob Dylan What is Bob Dylan ''Am i dead. Is this my Wake. Am i in hell''

Bob... sigh.

Not a fan of his.
