Thanks remind me why I hate prog rock
I would rather be smacked in the head with a rock than have to listen to this tripe again.
Look, I tried… alright? My heart sank when this popped up, but in the spirit of things I thought I ought to give it a go. I don’t like any of the Supertramp that I’ve heard over the years, but I hadn’t heard this album. So… who knows? I knew. This is bloody awful. So polite and smug and dull and plodding and… polite. Ugh. I even hate the cover. Some poor sods were 14 when this came out and so were at the age where this became ‘their music’ and they can’t separate it from that nostalgic wash of primary cultural value. I pity them. Alan Partridge never mentions liking Supertramp, by my recollection. But you can bet he does. Just not enough to even mention it. The sound of washing the car on a bank holiday Monday. In tiny shorts and a shirt you wear for work. Horrible.
Music for people who don’t really like music.
Not for me and the quality of the production seems inconsistent and rough at times. It took me out of the listening experience.
It isn't a good 70s album. I hadn't heard of this album before, and rightly so, it seems.
The first 3.5 minutes of "Rudy" didn't suck. That's the nicest thing I have to say about this one.
I've known Supertramp peripherally forever and never cared about them at all. I actually can't stand the radio songs. Looks like I don't like the rest either. Ever notice how that Take a look at my girlfriend song has the same intro as Don't Speak by No Doubt?
Not my kind of favorit Music
Yuck!
Thx. No, thx.
usual music preference towards metal, classical, electronic, and rap. 4. Supertramp - Crime of the Century: Not for me. 0/10.
Dreamer is a great track, apart from that I didnt really enjoy the album at all. This is not one I would listen to again.
Proggy pop combined with big dumb 70s rock, so: big synthy riffs and spaceship tones. Having the electric piano at the forefront makes for a kind of showtune feel. Like a copy of the more annoying side of David Bowie. All the maximalist tendencies but little of the creative energy, and done on the cheap. They sound like a filler band on one of those compilations they used to advertise on TV like "ALL THE RADIO HITS OF THE 70s YOU KNOW AND LOVE!!!! (except for the good ones)"
Everything on this album has been done better later sometimes by the same band. Honestly don't understand how this made the list
This album is definitely a crime of the century.
Weird and not in a fun way. These dorks took too much acid.
80s prog rock - had a bit of a pop tilt to it, wasn't a huge fan.
meh
1 Star (2/15)
Like Alexander Supertramp, this album ought to get lost in the Alaskan wilderness for good
Nope.
Crime of the Century is the only name for it
i absolutely loathe the 1970s.
Not a fan
Just no. Id rather not, ty, please god no.
Heard the title song Crime of the Century. Sounds like Queen but angrier, occasionally.
No
Not a fan. Thought the couple of songs I had heard previously were OK but this listen showed me that they are self indulgent rubbish.
As a band who specializes in a more radio format of prog rock, bordering on AOR, this sounded like a merely decent result until I heard the first song, is it me, or did everything sound the same? All the songs were quiet, started off with a keyboard/piano solo, and all built up to a climax which had no actual result whatsoever. I also realized that one of the singers had a falsetto that resembled more of the voice of a British cartoon parrot than anything. Oh well, I guess the solo in Crime of the Century was nice. Highlights: The solo, at least the band was trying Faults: Everything Else
Probably of more than one century, tbf. Bland, lifeless, soul-less.
Slept like a baby
Just not for me.
Piano parts were wonderful, was not impressed with anything else. Breakfast in America was a much more impressive album.
Naff.
Me aburrió muchísimo
That album was so bland for me…nothing stood out and it was a slog to get through
This is not the small area of prog I can tolerate. Hide In Your Shell was alright but otherwise I don't get on with the meandering storytelling.
Yeah this bass track is sick, let’s add the worst fucking singing you’ve heard in your life. There isn’t a song on here that another artist hasn’t made a better version of. Kids Bop: Pink Floyd
Terrible, terrible...
1.75
Nothing that I would want to listen to again. I recognized Dreamer.
Not for me
Extremely boring. Okay 70s music, I'm just not into 70s music at all
1/19/21
Not bad
track list notes 1. school: unique track. had range, funky as hell. love the piano
No me gustó
Some really good turn up the volume style songs. Obviously Kashmir is a classic. A good album overall
