Reviews (page 9 of 14)

First time hearing most of this album. Lots of great stuff on here, some absolutely brilliant, but also a decent amount of stuff that's hard to listen to. I know most will give it 5 stars because of its legendary status, but I can only go as high as 4 stars.

Ein paar sehr gute Lieder, ansonsten OK.

Classic bang-er

A classic album, already reviewed hundreds of times. There isn't much more I can add. Some songs are better than others, but there are enough hits on this album to have made it worth buying back in the day. I love Pink Floyd and one doesn't need to be high or drunk to appreciate their work (contrary to legend). 5 out of 5

Perhaps could do without a couple of the ajoining interlude tracks but on the whole, lots of epic sprawling prog to be had. Don’t think I’ve listened to this in full before.. it’s a journey!

This is the Pink Floyd album I heard the most growing up. I even had it on cassette, so at this point, I’ve heard it so many times that it’s lost some of its excitement for me. That said, I still appreciate how well they crafted the theatrical and emotional weight of this album, drawing from the personal struggles and memories of the character Pink. The music takes you on a real roller coaster ride, moving between quiet, reflective moments and dramatic, intense buildups. And if you haven’t seen The Wall movie, I highly recommend it, because it takes the album’s emotional depth even further, making the story feel even more immersive.

It's a classic for every possible reason, and there are definite points for everything on the album, but is it an album i would choose to listen to again? The whole effect is (deliberately) alienating and morose, so I dont think it'll exactly be a regular listen, but for an album that makes you have feeeEEEeeelings of an almost human nature its definitely up there and deswrving of a high mark.

Well, I didnt expect a rock opera

both the music and story are riveting - never dwelling too long before moving on. it's just a tad too long.

I forgot how many songs on this I knew. Maybe too much, but the big tracks are really good.

Nihilism, numbness, and Beach Boys. Wall’s good.

Just a bit silly isn’t it. There are some great songs here but the whole rock opera thing is lost on me. Maybe with the stage show that this is famous for itd have more meaning. Not their best work

Pink Floyd are one of the best bands of all time so even a weaker album - which by their standards this is - still has an all time great song like Comfortably Numb on it. The Wall is too long and self indulgent but the worst it ever gets, really, is a bit boring. At other times it's as interesting and creatively rich as their best work. The conceptual theme is ambitious and engaging, most of the time, and was certainly influenced a lot of other great work. So, not perfect, but pretty great overall.

83/100 absolutely incredible, love the story, love the music, love the message, the metaphor of all of these events being bricks in his wall is an incredible metaphor, i love the trial it just all wraps up so perfectly but i wish we just had one more song detailing his life after the wall was broken down. pink's wall is gone guys! is that why she wrote just give me a reason? idk, i did some research on this album and a lot of it was based off of roger waters and syd barretts personal experiences which is pretty cool

Great piece of musical art. It's a little long for my tastes but it has my all-time fav PF song, Comfortably Numb. I'm not going to be able to say how incredible this is better than others. Ultimately, DSOTM and WYWH rank higher for me.

Good sound, great story.

felt like repeatedly having my face slammed into a wall, if my face were my ears, and the wall was music.

Listened in the truck via YouTube music. The Wall is a mix of sounds bridging the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Lots of filler tracks but overall cohesive.

26 songs oh my goodness ok wow piano after screams I am LOVING the transitions. are they...telling the story of a life? ok ok yeah i mean long album but good 8/10

Theatrical at the end

There are some fantastic songs here, but it's just too long, with too many disposable tracks. And I get that it's a concept album, and they're required for the narrative, but they could have at least been more memorable, and sung by the better vocalist in Gilmour. I don't care if the idea was Waters, there's too much of him here. In The Flesh (both), Another Brick In the Wall (all parts), Young Lust, Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell are all spectacular, and I will 100% listen to this again, but I'm only giving it a 4 on first listen.

Probably a duck syndrome, but I always felt weird relistining this album, because it doesn't works for me without movie... A lot of great songs, but short throwaways and reprises make the listening less enjoyable for me. Still a lot of great stuff and good concept and surely one of the albums you must hear before you die, but movie is even more essential

Cool, too long

obvioulsy huge album, the wall isnt even the best tune

A monumental album which features complex issues such as depression, bullying and losing a father at a very young age. Very operatic in its scope

Great.. Theatrical, guitars…

When I first joined up with the project, it was specifically because I wanted to listen to more ALBUMS, and not just singles. The Wall is the perfect example of why - it feels cohesive, all around the central theme of the Wall and how trauma and pain causes us to hide. Haunting guitars, mournful lyrics, brilliant work. It's a LITTLE bloated (I took this long to write this for a reason) which keeps it from perfection, but when you're that damn close, who cares?

5!!! Okay am giving a 4 because, although brilliant, it's too long and didn't capture my tiktok brain for the full length (a me problem)

I like this one for the most part, but I can see where people call it pretentious. A lot of the album seems to have an excessive amount of contents, even with the story the way it is. I feel like there was a bit of filler that could’ve been trimmed down a bit. The highs are very high, with the amazing singles in comfortably numb and another brick in the wall, and hey you, But everything that’s in between honestly felt like it was getting to be a slog. But worth it overall, I would give it to four out of five.

com a àlbum conceptual i experiència em sembla súper guai i esque ya saps que mg molt pink floydd son uns genios i aquest album no lhavia escoltat mai pero es FUEGO. cançons majoritariament curtes amb missatges potents i bateries i guitarres cool. la segona part cap al final es una mica bucle meh aixi q li posu un 4

really good! all the themes presented were well executed and talked about, thhe way the overall story of the album was handled was really nice. my only problem with this release is how some songs are WAYY to short and honestly feel like fillers or like they're simply disconnected from anything else. disc 2 doesn't have that problem as roughly as disc 1 does, but thats not to say it's free from it too.

This is always a classic album to listen to. It is a wild story to travel through. It stretches the listener's mind when enjoying the musical antics that is Pink Floyd.

Samme gleder tematikken.

Goodness, feels like I listened to the album equivalent of a classic novel. 5/5 for the artistry, at least. As for personal enjoyment, I don't think I can fully appreciate the experience here unless I revisit this album and pay attention to the whole thing. Not really something to leave running in the background.

Wow haven’t listened all the way through this in ages. Quite a ride.

How can ya have any pudding when ya don't eat yer meat

Probably my favorite album when I was 14. Listening to it now, it has a whole lotta of filler with some great tracks in the mix. "Comfortably Numb" is probably one of the greatest songs ever made. The album also has some great production, which, saying a Pink Floyd album has good production, is like saying the kitchen has a fork.

So, first disc was so good, but then the quality went down as it got to sides 3/4, but theres Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell and the reprise of In The Flesh https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JzwU0JN-qlY

Iconic!! De grössti Teil vode Lieder liedeschafftlich i mis Trommelfell massiert.

As a rock opera, unmatched. An epic, sprawling, haunting masterpiece. Take 60% of the songs as individuals and you're probably not keen. But as a whole, brilliant.

This album holds a lot of nostalgia for me. I haven’t heard it for probably twenty years, but it was still familiar and felt nice to revisit. However, I think that if I’d have heard it for the first time now, I’m not sure I would love it as much. Sometimes I think what makes a song or album so special is more who you listened to it with than the actual songs themselves. I feel like there were too many filler songs on here. But geez were there some winners. Who doesn’t like Comfortably Numb? Mother is another favorite of mine. But Roger Water’s voice grates on me soooo much when he’s screaming. I hate it. I much prefer David Gilmour’s voice which is lovely and perfect, as I’ve probably expressed in previous Pink Floyd reviews. The Wall is a creative album for sure, but it’s just so dang long and it was kind of sad to listen to it alone. It just didn’t feel right 😕 Also, the live version of this album is better. I wish Spotify had it.

I mean, what else can be said that hasn’t already? One of, if not the biggest rock concept album ever, defining a moment in musical history that created an era defining show. The whole album together is a movie of epic proportions, and puts to perspective the separation felt by isolation

Incredible story portrayed through amazing music. Meaningful lyrics, iconic riffs, and solos. David Gilmour's guitar work on this album is some of his best. You can sense the band slowly falling apart, given that this is essentially a Roger Waters project. Really, really good, but I don't think this is even a top 3 Pink Floyd album.

Very highly produced. Great guitar tones. More a performance piece like theater than an album.

Another great band, known for their great albums too. However, I think this album crosses a little too far into skits territory. It ain't bad at all though, and it's still so relevant IMO.

It's a bit difficult to make an argument for giving this album anything less than 5 stars, unless you're a very dedicated Pink Floyd hater. Or maybe if you were born in this millennium I suppose. At the same time, it feels wrong to give my 5th favourite Floyd album 5 stars. It's a fantastic production and has masterful production and storytelling. Very cinematic and ambitious. But it really demands the listener to be in the right mood to get through the whole thing, and is hard to listen to casually, apart from the big hitters. And if I'm in such a depressed and nihilistic mood, I'd usually rather put on Animals or Wish You Were Here. If I want the concept-heavy, meaning-of-life Pink Floyd, I'd rather Dark Side. If I want something fun and spacey, it's Meddle. I'd also argue that you could probably just listen to In The Flesh?, Another Brick in the Wall 1-3, Hey You, Comfortably Numb, In the Flesh, and Run Like Hell, and still get a pretty complete picture of what the concept is. So I kind of agree with those who say it's bloated and indulgent. But that's also kind of the point! I also have to deduct points for the ironicly poor grammar on Another Brick pt.2, so I'm landing on 4 stars.

one of the best

A classic that’s great to listen to when you’re in certain moods

A dope album full of dope songs with dope lyrics. If you've never listened to it, do yourself a favor and sit with it for a while.

Was ein episches Album.

While personally I prefer Dark Side of the Moon, this is an excellent album with some enduring, timeless hits. It just also has some filler, which keeps it from being a 5 star for me

Not my favourite **Pink Floyd**, actually not even in my Top 5 Floyd albums, but it is responsible for fostering my interest in music with "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" being the first record I ever bought way back in 1979. As for the album I find it difficult to engage with compared to other Floyd. Essentially I'm more a fan of their psychedelic and experimental output, preferring the atmosphere, abstract textures, and exploratory jams of earlier albums. *The Wall* is a hard listen that demands attention, but then **Roger Waters** designed the album to be confrontational, inward-looking, and emotionally raw. It’s not about escape or transcendence like earlier Floyd. As a result it's too rigid and claustrophobic for my liking. I'm left admiring the ambition, but largely cold to the content.

Está guay

p441. 1979. 4 stars. An odyssey of fear and self loathing. Great songs, sharp lyrics and fabulous guitar work. The only double album you need. Point deducted for straying into rock theatre.

It's good, it's a classic but if you don't love rock that much it can get a bit boring because it's so long

Saw Pink Floyd perform this at Wembley. Amazing record!

Not my favourite Pink Floyd album, I feel like it's a bit self-indulgent and drawn out. But even still, it's still very good. It's iconic for a reason.

Idk how to even rate this. The great songs on here are legendary and i think theres enough to have a single album thats a 10/10 But its so long and some of the bad ones are so hard to listen to. It is like a whole opera and all that so i get it but its a lot. Giving it a 4 bc some of these songs are so nostalgic and important to me, and its also just so influential. But not keen to listen to all 4 sides again any time soon

not a fan of pink floyd’s songs but I love their ~albums~

Shocked by how much I enjoyed listening to this. I thought it was pretty cool

A monster achievement of a record but somehow also a step down from the three masterpieces that proceeded it. Too much Roger Waters self-psychoanalysis.

4.5/5. Feels like one of the first concept albums that followed up on its ambition. Roger Waters probably tells himself every night that this album caused the Berlin Wall to fall.

When people ask me “what’s your greatest fear?”, I say “the riot scenes from The Wall.” The abuse of police and military power. Fascists dragging people out of vehicles and battering them with impunity. Now it’s happening outside my door. In America. Because Greedheads and religious rubes elected a psychopathic child rapist president.

Never listened the first time around. Hey! I was 16 and I didn't have money to burn on prog rock dinosaurs. It looked hugely pretentious and they always seemed to be at each other's throats. I just didn't fancy it. That being said, 'Another Brick In The Wall' (part 2 apparently) was a brilliant single at the end/start of the decade. So 45 years later... and what a great album. Apart from the regurtitation of the same melodies over and over - but then I suppose they are attempting to follow a theme. I will definitely give this more listens. I might become a fan.

THE WALL

The first time I heard this album it was New Years Day of 2018 and I was just at the turning point of the rock bottom of my life. Things were difficult every day but I was making progress climbing out of the hole of survival sex work, poverty, on-and-off homelessness, being abusive and being abused, drug and alcohol addiction. I took LSD and spent the entire day lying on the floor next to my cat and listening to every Pink Floyd album in chronological order. When The Wall came on, it was like I had been defibrillated - I felt understood for the first time in years. This album was a direct record of my mind and life at the time. Yes it's self-indulgent, yes it's overly dramatic and borderline narcissistic. And also it was what survival mode felt like. These days I'm in a great place and I find most of the album a bit cringe. All I'm trying to say is that finding this album cringy is a privilege for me. Obviously my rating is based 1001% on emotion. World's best rock opera. Maybe you'll never want to listen to it again, but you should hear this before you die.

Always found this one to be overrated.

J - 4/5 Best Track - "Comfortably Numb" F - 1/5

A very ambitious concept album that I think stands the test of time. A bit of filler here and there, but mostly killer tracks throughout its runtime.

Ok ngl was kinda bummed when this came up. Never really liked Pink Floyd, or more accurate, never felt like it was my vibe… I vaguely knew a few songs, but this was the first time I listened to one of their albums all the way through. Luvvvvvv a concept album. Love a story and something to follow. Read the wiki beforehand to get an idea of what I was listening to, and was definitely intrigued. Not at all what I expected? Even tho I have listened to another brick in the wall pt2 before. I really like the concept of ‘the wall’ and the feelings of isolation and suffering it brings. The want to build a wall up around u is very relatable! I thought it was odd that the song abt him trying to sleep with woman, ending with finding out his wife cheated on him, is followed by a song of him beating her up lol? And the end songs I didn’t love either. I get it was delusion, him thinking he was a facist leader, hosting riots, but it didn’t work for me. Maybe if I was alive during that time it would’ve hit harder but, for me it was meh. I can definitely say it was a great album, and I will be listening to more Pink Floyd. I think it’s better I waited till I was older to listen to them, specifically this album. I don’t think I would’ve appreciated or related as much if I was a teenager. Favorites: Another brick in the wall pt3, hey you, and the trial. Rating: 8/10

Great musical themes and guitar parts. A really good recording with tons of dynamic range.

Not the first time I’ve listened, but it’s obviously a great album. The production is great and there are some classics here. Not my usual genre of choice and a bit long for my taste.

This is a loooong one! I think they hit the nail on the head choosing the singles from this album. Those are the best songs. Some of the deep cuts are good: The Show Must Go On, Mother, and Goodbye Blue Sky. Great set of albums, but a bit too long for me. I'll still give this a 4.

The singles are fantastic; some of my favorites are included on this album. But this album doesn't reach the same cohesive heights as, say, Dark Side of the Moon, in which every track was magnificent and essential. This album was a little uneven by comparison, but it's still a great concept album that tells its story well. It makes me want to rewatch the film, which I haven't seen in probably 30 years.

Innovative, imaginative and cinematic.

The smug and polished end of Pink Floyd here, yet still with considerable merit. Brick In The Wall and Comfortably Numb are songs good enough not to have been dulled by repeated listening. It's far too long and a bit OTT, but don't let that put you off entirely.

"The Wall" is a brilliant piece of art with great music. I really enjoy tracks like "Another Brick in the Wall". But let’s be honest, the album is just way too long.

Interesting and at times good, but I also tired of the dude vibe loudness sometimes

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It has some clearly very good songs on it, some of which I know. The Trial spoiled it though. Just didn’t enjoy the stuff at the end of side 4. So not a five.

incredible album, incredible legacy, this is one of the greats. i think upon listening to it all the way through, I don't fully understand the whole storyline, but I think that is due to my own listening style (playing a video game while listening). I'll say this is my own shortcoming, and I haven't given this album the proper listen to give it a five, considering it goes so much deeper. Once I read Matt's essay about it, perhaps I will shift but it at the very least gets an easy 4

A great double album. Not guite up to Dark Side of The Moon. "Comfortably Numb" is the obvious highlight, but there are a lot of other great songs on this one.

Initial reaction was negative. But this is much, much better than I recalled. Except for The Trial. That song is terrible.

Classic

a really good album that suffers from the fatal flaw of concept albums - way too much filler. probably would've hit harder if i had some of that weak shit they were growing in the '70s 8.5/10

I know this is a "CLASSIC" album, top 100, but I'm more partial to Dark Side of the Moon. I'm not a huge musical theatre fan, and this seems too much like musical theater. I'm sure I would have loved the live performance concert, but just sitting and listening to the album, I just want to skip through to the good songs. It becomes a bit redundant after a while. Overall, it's a good listen if I'm in the mood, but today I'm just not in the mood to sit through two discs of material from the same artist. The hits are amazing, song writing is great, music is amazing. Just not the day for this one. Maybe this fall.

yeah i mean its great but at this point in my music journey it admittedly impresses me quite less than it used to, and its one of the weakest of the famous pink floyd efforts. but its also like the wall so 4 stars

The last great pink Floyd album. It's great, but a little too self-indulgent ala Roger Waters.

Dad- 6 Mom- 9 Mike- 9 Lori- 10 Michael- 9 Miles- 8 Cole- 9.5 Avg- 8.64

70/100.

- tolles, stimmiges Album, das trotz seiner Länge echt fix durch war - Disc 1 gefiel mir etwas besser, als Disc 2, aber das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau - Another Brick in the Wall kenne ich natürlich, aber sonst habe ich gefühlt noch keine Songs von Pink Floyd gehört, but I like

Rating: 4.5 Notable songs: Albums full of them This albums an absolute classic. I prefer disc 1 to disc 2, but this is peak Pink Floyd. Start the album from song 1 and enjoy the ride!

The myth, the legend! I'd heard of this album so many times prior, and as an album it really lived up to that expectation honestly. That saaaaid... there is not (at least, on initial listen) a lot of songs I would listen to outside of the album's context, which is pretty much the only reason it's not a 5. I don't listen to whole albums too often, so I do like to have that ability! Apologies to the vision, but it was really good to be fair.

The First parte Is an incredible peace of art. The second disappoints expectations, but still bring to the table incredible lyrics, despite the sound, that start to be more "experimental", ruining the flow of the album

Going to need to listen to this again to really get it I think but cool

A huge part of my adolescence, though I don't listen to it anymore. What does that say about its "classic" status?

I like this album a lot, I'll start there. It's great, but flawed in my opinion. Concept albums can work, but in general, I don't love long, drawn out concept albums - because it gives an excuse for an album to be over bloated and self indulgent under the guise of the "narrative" Again, I like this album and still giving it a 4 because there's some great stuff here, but IMO the bloated-ness holds it back from being great like DSOTM and WYWH.

Listened halfway. Interesting concept but just wasn’t really my thing. Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2 was the main highlight.

I don't find the album per se to be overblown and pretentious but I do find people's reactions to this album to be overblown and pretentious. It's like ~fine~ in my humble opinion.

Not the best but still way ahead of its time.

Sure it’s iconic With long bouts of oddities Between knock out hits

like an epic poem

Always liked this album but there is quite a bit of bloat

Arguably the Pink Floyd magnum opus. Deep textural and layered sounds, backboned with an unstoppable psychedelic blues sound. Phenomenal piece of analog music with a heavy use of overdubs and synths. Married beautifully with deep introspection and highly personal and relatable lyrics (relateable to baby boomers, enjoyable to Gen X and beyond). The Wall remains number 3 for me behind Dark Side and Meddle because there is just an apparent loss of what made Pink Floyd, Pink Floyd. A lack of psychedelia, and experimental rock to this crazy shift into political commentary. I don't outright hate this album, but the band consensus used to sit on the fringes of society doing their own thing. And this album really launched them into the the stratosphere. And people constantly reference this albums social impact, and the infighting the ensued after. I mean, just take me back to 1971-1975. Pink was on top of the world.

Better than I expected, thought I didn't care for them as a band that much but to see it as a whole album listening experience I was pleasantly surprised

Theatrical and live versions are better

First half is excellent and then it peters out a bit, should have finished at comfortably numb.

It has a couple of masterpieces and a lot of weird stuff

I wonder if Roger Waters ever considered seeing a therapist?

This album is lost on me, I don't appreciate it nearly enough. It was my my favourite album theirs in highschool but I quickly realised I know nothing about it, nor do I appreciate what going on nearly enough. So fuck you, same score as throbbing gristle. 8/10

Already knew it really well

it is 18/4/25. i am 15 years old. my junior cert is coming up. i could be studying for them, but instead i am here listening to Pink Floyd's The Wall (1979). here are my thoughts TRACK BY TRACK 1 IN THE FLESH? this song is fantastic. it's a fantastic opener and it's also just a fantastic song. it's everything floyd are great at in a painfully short 3 minutes. it has a (short but effective) buildup to start it off with, a great guitar riff, a very memorable vocal melody and hard ass lyrics to accompany the epic riff pounding into you. if only there was a sequel. 10/10 2 THE THIN ICE. it opens very slow and gentle, and its short runtime makes you think it wont really progress very much further. but it does. i love the section with the piano, but that gets pushed aside by yet another signature epic guitar section. at this point its getting cheesy but it's hard not to smile every time it happens. 9/10 3 ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL PT 1. pretty cool, it obviously seems more important the further you get into the album, which i know because i have already listened to it. as a singular track there isn't much to say, but it plays its role perfectly. it gives the impression it is building to something, which it is. the guitar is very cool (once this word enters my brain, i can't not use it) and the panning of the twangy guitars that comes in every now and then is very cool. overall, very cool. 8/10 4 HAPPIEST DAYS OF OUR LIVES. abusive teachers are troubled? thats crazy. anyway this song is pretty important in the whole theme of the album. musically it is structured as a vehicle for the lyrics, so not much to say about it. i like the climax a lot. 8/10 5 ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL PT 2. yo i know this song!! cool, groovy, classic song. it continues the theme of the previous song, utilising a children's choir to push the point forward a little. i heard somewhere that floyd were suggested by their producer to add a bit of a disco flavour to the song in favour of commercialism, and you can kind of tell. cool guitar solo though. 9/10 6 MOTHER. 🌬️pink looks to his mother for advice and comfort. gilmour cradles waters. i don't know it's a very nice song and the lyrics are just about vague enough to mean something. majestic song. 9/10 7 GOODBYE BLUE SKY. this song was in rick and morty. it somehow manages to be both ominous and majestic. very vague lyrics about something to do with war, but they certainly work. i'm going to run out of things to say about 26 tracks. 9/10 8 EMPTY SPACES. here we have something slightly different. floyd's classic guitar buildup, but this time alongside a darkwave-ish instrumental. it would be a lot better if it wasn't 4 seconds long. 8/10 9 YOUNG LUST. pink freak 😈😈 in this song pink is looking for a dirty woman, but he will admirably settle for a dirty girl. this shows pink's strength and development through this war ridden wall. cool song, cool guitar, epic lyrics. 9/10 10 ONE OF MY TURNS. to get through his cold bleak life, pink submits to culture and commercialism. despite these attempts, his dirty woman runs away. 8/10 11 DON'T LEAVE ME NOW. wow this song is dark. the atmosphere on this thing is unmatched when it comes to floyd's discography. the anxious feeling during the first section, with his wails and the dark organ. and then it comes together. just an incredible song, at this point in the album it rivals in the flesh. and it had to be the song about a wifebeater. 10/10 12 ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL PT 3. the writing on the wall!! yo!!! to be honest i don't know what the point of this installment is. maybe if it were the second part and then the second part came third, as this would build up to it. but no, here we have a slightly heavier version of the first part. it just seems weird to place it here. 7/10 13 GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD. pink seems to be leaving. this is odd as we are roughly halfway through the album. at first glance i thought he was leaving his woman but maybe he is leaving the world? i don't know who he is talking to but maybe pink is trying to kill himself. who knows, but it's an appropriate place to take a break as i have to leave. 7/10 14 HEY YOU. you're losing you're losing your vitamin c! no, wrong song. reading the lyrics i think this song is about oppression, but i'm not sure. i hope this project will help me analyse lyrics a bit better, without genius' help of course. great song though, not all that much to it, just good melodies and a good structure. 9/10 15 IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE? pink wonders if there is anybody out there. then pink gives us some nice strumming of his acoustic guitar. this song really just moves the album forward but the acoustic guitar strumming is so nice it gets an 8/10. 16 NOBODY HOME. beautiful piano ballad (?) that conveys loneliness and dissatisfaction very well. i may be in the minority when i say that i like waters' vocals possibly more than gilmour's. this song contains many of the best lines from this album, so i'll just list some of them: "I got thirteen channels of shit on the TV to choose from," / "Got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains". melodrama and great writing aren't always mutually exclusive. 8/10 17 VERA. usually on an album comprised of mostly two minute long songs (this one's only 1:33) i would complain about the lack of length but this album's got so many memorable ones. this song is just roger waters yearning for the whereabouts of the woman who sang "We Will Meet Again" yet he makes it so compelling. great strings too, they should be at the forefront more often. 8/10 18 BRING THE BOYS BACK HOME. uh yeah war man. those kids man are out on the field yknow fightin and stuff. it's awful. god man i wish my huge fortune was any use dude. anyway here's a dramatic fanfare. 5/10. man this album must be taking a downward turn. 19 COMFORTABLY NUMB. i thought this whole thing would be better were this my first listen of the album but holy shit this song still hits every time. it sounds cheesy but the minor chords the song starts out in sound like dark clouds and the chorus sounds like the clouds opening up into sunshine. it's hard to say if it's their best song but it's definitely up there. 10/10 20 THE SHOW MUST GO ON. i mean maybe if it kept the quality of COMFORTABLY NUMB. but not if it turns into operatic beach boys. 6/10 21 IN THE FLESH. oh woah there's a sequel man i didn't know that let's go man. it definitely gets you back into the groove of the album; i could understand being pulled out as soon as the epic climax drops into a fucking choir, but it's still IN THE FLESH. i prefer the opener, but since it's only a few details in difference and that they're virtually the same song, it's a great song. 9/10 22 RUN LIKE HELL. i feel like i'm in a stadium. i don't view this as the highlight other people seem to, it sounds like the other two installments of ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL that people don't listen to, just a little bit better. nonetheless a song, to say the least. 7/10 23 WAITING FOR THE WORMS. i can't help but like this goofy mess of a song. doo-wop, hard rock, worm... it doesn't know what it wants to be. in all honesty i haven't a fucking clue what he is talking about. following worms and whatnot. 8/10 24 STOP. all of a sudden we're in a show? the first side of the album it was a war and now we're in... a musical? john pink gets it twisted. whatever this song is like 20 seconds long. 25 THE TRIAL. this album went from being a concept album about the injustice of war to a rock musical taking place in a worm court. 6/10 26 OUTSIDE THE WALL. yeah this is the closer to the album. isn't this where my dad already had this album on vinyl so it became the first floyd album i knew well. it's an overblown pretentious rock opera that i listened to in the exact stage of my life where that kind of thing might seem epic. there's some good music in it though. this was possibly the worst entry into this project as i had already heard it and it is a huge double album of 26 tracks that i made myself review one by one. i'm looking forward to seeing what's next though. overall this album is a strong 8. BEST TRACKS: COMFORTABLY NUMB. IN THE FLESH? DON'T LEAVE ME NOW.

A classic

As a new listener to Pink Floyd, this album was surprisingly a vibe. I came in with no expectations and felt throughly entertained throughout. I think the highlight for me was “another brick in the wall pt.2” for this album to be made in the late 70s this sounded very relevant in terms of messaging and sound. Great album to put on and just let roll, with a good mix of uptempo and smooth interludes. The 2nd part of listening to the album was accompanied by my restless 3 week old newborn and it quickly calmed his nerves. Transcends generations! 4 out of 5 stars

This is definitely a classic, it has so many good songs and has great atmosphere!

the another brick in the wall music video used to be a recurring nightmare of mine as a child, but - apart from leaving me with scarring memories - i have no trouble understanding why this album is considered one of the classics 4/5

I LOVE PINK FLOYD 4.5

Landmark album. Some great songs on here and the concept is very ambitious overall. However, I feel this album is a bit too grand and over the top at times. There's also quite a lot of songs that feel like filler and don't really add to the overall experience. It's an amazing listen and an amazing journey but it's noticably more flawed than the previous 3 Pink Floyd albums.

already in my library

awesome, not the greatest of all time as some might have you believe, but awesome

Drugi dzień z rzędu Pink Floydzi. Ta płyta jest lepsza, bo jest albumem koncepcyjnym, jednym z pierwszych i najlepszych. Lubię jak coś tworzy spójną, przemyślaną całość. Nadal uważam, że ten zespół lubi przekombinować, przedłużyć, przeintelektualizować swoje utwory, ale ta płyta to mocne 7.5/10

Pretty good

Was expecting a bit more but was still great. Think I preferred side 2.

Classic album, I've heard it many many times. Very chilled out and easy to listen to. I remember listening to this in the basement of my friend's house while we smoked cannabis and talked about dumb stuff. Good times.

Classic Floyd. Great concept but also not short of great songs too.

Overall: 8/10 I have incredibly mixed feelings about this album. I'll start with what I enjoy: lyrically, it's a masterpiece. The story is cohesive while still leaving room for ambiguity. While this is Roger's baby, I consider Richard Wright's work on the keys to be the highlight of the entire album. Now for the negatives. I enjoy Roger's voice in small doses, but he sings on a good majority of this thing. This thing, by the way, is so overbloated and full of itself. That would be fine, but this feels like an album you need to listen to all at once and it's not as easy to set aside almost an hour and a half (!) of your day for one album. Despite my complaints, I truly do think this is a great album. I wish it was shorter and I wish more of the songs worked on their own. There's maybe 6 tracks on this 26 track album that I ever feel like listening to. I honestly would probably give this a lower rating but I do enjoy listening to it on occasion (usually when I have a full day to myself). This is an album that everyone should definitely listen to at least once in their lives and I know I'm in the minority with my complaints. Fav Song: Hey You Least Fav Song: Is There Anybody Out There? (Should this count?)

Fine fine fine

Classic Floyd. Loved this album years ago and still enjoy it today.

This is the album where they gained massive popularity and lost their underground edge. The songs are more ordinary, lacking the tense suspense for which they are renowned. It's OK, but it's far less impressive than TDSOTM etc

Self-indulgent, bloated, grandiose, yet still impressive. Quite an achievement Mr Waters, and still not PF's finest hour (or two with all the extras that have been tagged on over the years). Gerald Scarfe's artwork is cool as well.

Quite a good listen

Not what I was expecting having never heard it, quite the odyssey of an album 4*

It's a classic for a reason. It felt a little long in my opinion, but I also don't know where I'd trim anything off.

The transitions are amazing

One of the greatest albums of all time

Could be a 5* if it wasn't bloated with random sub 2-minute songs that no one listens to

A classic. Great storytelling, amazing music.

- First half is a solid 5, despite the fact that I hate the children singing in "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2." Engrossed and terrified by "Goodbye Blue Sky." - Second half is solid at moments, but goes off the rails. Although I appreciate the anti-fascist commentary, it is a bit too tongue in cheek. And "The Trial" feels ripped out of a musical (and not in a good way). - Enjoyed this more than The Dark Side of the Moon. Sue me.

A very ambitious album. Pretty impressive to get several singles out of a concept album like this. I didn’t totally get the narrative and had to google it but I did keep me interested throughout and had me thinking about it throughout the day. Also liked how they had the same riff popping up in different songs throughout the album to help it all hang together. I don’t think I’ll come back to it very often but 4 stars considering the degree of difficulty

While I'm not that interested in the concept, the album is still great. Probably their weakest of the 70s.

look it's such a long album. I listened to most of it. it's solid

Obviously tons of classics. However some of the journey getting to them I felt dragged on.

8/10 Great

This album has stood the test of time a little too well, if possible... I think I'll need to come back to this one, it hasn't quite clicked with me instantly.

Great album. Puts you in a whole other musical world.

8/10 I liked this way more than I was expecting. The album really worked for me. Preferred the second half to the first, but I suppose it is the payoff for it. Second half was more interesting judicially with more intricacy and orchestration. But the first half had its moments. Not too much silly stuff for a concept album, barring the Trial it was pretty consistently good. Best: Nobody Home

I listened to this before, and it was really out of my circle of music. I think it is a really good album, and in most parts of it, you enjoy it. Maybe the final part of the album is not as solid as the first, but I think it is a good album from Pink Floyd, but not THE BEST ALBUM OF PINKFLOYD. Fav tracks: . Comfortably Numb . Young Lust . Another brick in the wall

I’ve never been a huge fan of Rock Operas. Houmous & Chutney have always said we’d never release one. Len wrote a solo one. It was also called The Wall, released in 1975. It was about the trials and tribulations of being a bricklayer! Even had a track called Uncomfortably Numb - all about a bricklayers hands during a slow, cold winter. Pink Floyd always said it was just a coincidence! 3.6

Like most rock opera albums I think it’s a bit bloated, but overall it is a masterpiece. While I won’t be listening cover to cover on a regular basis, comfortably numb and brick pt2 will forever be in the rotation.

Now I can hear the influence of Pink Floyd all over the place. I had only ever heard the singles from this album before, so I didn’t really get it/them. I liked this much more than the triangle rainbow one, and it would almost definitely be a five if it weren’t for the horrendous singing on a third of the tracks.

A classic.

4.5 stars. Epic rock opera. Standouts are "Another Brick In the Wall, Pt. 2" which has a very anthemic sound and "Comfortably Numb" which is a masterpiece. "The Trial" is super weird.

This is probably sacrilege, but it's a little long...

🌟🌟🌟🌟— (4 out of 5 stars) Quite cinematic; Ordered Quite well, i like how the flow between songs went, however there’s a lot of filler to get through just to get to the more iconic songs (The first disc was really whack imo, second disk leveled out a bit more) The ending is quite nice, sounds like I just got transported into a musical. There’s a story behind this album: But I wasn’t really invested in it cos I wasn’t listening to it hard enough (oopsie) Fav Songs: Hey You, Comfortably Numb, Brick in the Wall (Pt. 1)/Happiest Days/Pt. 2 Least fav: In the Flesh?

love a rock opera

Very interesting. I think it would be 5/5 if it were shorter. I did not enjoy all tracks the same amount but I enjoyed some of them a lot. Concept is fun. Standout Track: Is There Anybody Out There?

More of a musical than an album.

banger

i can see why this is considered a classic it does kind of annoy me how "another brick in the wall" is so commonly misinterpreted as "school bad" when it's about his personal experiences with abusive teachers. on the other hand, I had to google this so perhaps it's a reasonable interpretation. overall enjoyable but there are too many short songs that kind of end up feeling like filler imo favourites: another brick in the wall, young lust, one of my turns, the trial

Pink Floyd does “concept album” better than anyone. Some of their absolute best and most famous tracks like “Another Brick in the Wall,” “Hey You,” “Is There Anybody Out There?”, “Comfortably Numb” and “Run Like Hell” are on this double album. The album is grandiose, utterly transporting and enveloping as is Pink Floyd ‘s way. Still, I haven’t seen the film, and I didn’t feel some tracks stood on their own as masterpieces, especially those that seemed most tied to advancing the narrative. Due to that, I’m giving this a strong 4.5 stars, rounding down to 4.

Love the synth on Goodbye Blue Sky and the bass on Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 1.

This was an ambitious project and, in a lot of ways, it realized that ambition. Starts off great with a cohesive narrative and takes you on a ride. But it starts to lose momentum in the second half of the album. But that first half, though... Terrific. 4/5

I don't think I'm alone in the idea that you have to be impaired in some way to enjoy Pink Floyd. This album requires the least amount of impairment. There's good songs on here that everyone has heard multiple times on multiple classic rock radio stations. It's not the genius album everyone thinks it is, especially the diehard Floyd fans. It's good, but not that good.

Hey You, Is There Anybody Out There, Nobody Home, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell

I get why this album gets the praise it does. It is a wee bit bloated but as a front to back experience it’s pretty magnificent

great rock album but is it the great masterpiece that everybody says? not to me

I checked out after in the flesh which is also this albums best song. Great road trip album, bad ADHD chill and listen album.

I guess I've probably never listened to this whole album before (and maybe with good reason). It's a real mixed bag here. There are a bunch of songs on here that I'm familiar with, and they all hold up pretty well (shocker: the popular songs are good). The whole concept album thing doesn't totally work for me, though. This was pretty long, clocking in at 26 songs and 80 minutes, and I was fairly glad when it was done...which is not something I expected going into this. A pared-down version of this would fall somewhere between a 4 and a 5, but then it wouldn't be this album. Hard to rate this one. I didn't dislike all the stuff I'd never heard before, and I can't fault artists for being artsy, so I guess this ultimately gets a 4 as the good outweighs the bad...but barely. 3.5

Standout songs: ABITW part 2 (obvi), i didn't realize part 2 was right after part 1, I assumed it came later in the album. God it's just so long, I can't give it under 4 stars, but I'm not happy about it

Not my favorite Floyd album but still awesome.

Some of my favorite Pink Floyd tracks exist on this album, while not my favorite as an entire work it's still a success. Feels disjointed if you're trying to find some common thread throughout the album the same way some of their earlier more condensed stuff does, but this one loops back on a big number of ideas by the end of it. Really awesome, I had never heard it all in one go before.

A classic that trancends all cultures

Great album with some iconic tunes - love the concept

Another epically long album, but this one holds up. Almost all of these songs are great. Solid record.

Pretty nice. A bit too long for me

Fav: Comfortably Numb Least Fav: Bring The Boys Back Home Honestly I love everything about this except for the transition songs, I get why they exist but they’re pretty bland. Scrap most of them and you get a 5/5 album

Ett av de bästa albumen någonsin.

I hate when I agree that a highly lauded album is brilliant because I love being a contrarian.

Love the bluesy sections. Highlights are Comfortably Numb, In the Flesh, Another Brick in the Wall.

Pretty trippy- an iconic cultural moment but not really for casual listening

Better than the Beatles

'No dark sarcasm in the classroom' - that'll stay with me, as will much else. But. This is a sometimes pretentious, not always profound, album with quite a few unpretentious and profound songs. It was conceived ambitiously, so it ought to be judged that way, and I'm not moved by its conceptual frame. It can be puerile, it can be surface, it lacks intellectual stamina. But it has 'The Thin Ice,' 'Mother,' 'Hey You,' 'Comfortably Numb,' and some others ('Goodbye Blue Sky'), that are permanent and real expressions.

I was familiar with several songs but this might be my first time actually listening to the album start to finish. Also it's my first time reading the backstory, so it's interesting to learn about the band's situation at the time (financial trouble, inner conflict), and it's interesting to understand the concept of The Wall and how it all started (Waters being agitated at his rock star situation, to the point where he spat on fans during a show, and subsequently wanted to isolate himself). The album has nine songs I tagged as great songs, which by itself would be a 5-star album. Of course, it's a double-album so it has 17 other songs that are quite good but not that good. That plus the fact that I have a hard time rewarding artists who bemoan their struggle means that I ultimately settle on a 4-star rating. But it's a pretty strong 4-star album.

This album is definitely an experience. It’s not one I listen to often, it’s been 10+ years since I last listened to it in full. In my opinion the best way to experience this album is at a laser show, but at least listen to it in the car or on headphones. The studio trickery needs stereo sound to get the full effect. I honestly don’t know how to rate this album. It is a classic and it is awesome. However, it is bloated, and there’s a lot of filler songs that, while they somewhat contribute to the album as a whole, are not good songs on their own. I still think it’s a great album that I won’t listen to again for another 10 years, save for some of the hits that stand on their own.

Another classic.

I have heard a lot of Pink Floyd growing up, including all of the hits on this album. I appreciate the work that went into this album and the tough topics it addresses (isolation, nuclear war). But ultimately it didnt really connect with me- I found the transitions between hits to be dissonant and not pleasant on the ear. I understand it's probably the effect they were going for, but it just wasnt particularly fun to listen to. The hits on the album, however, are very strong, and serve to break up the themes of the transitions. Overall- probably around 3.5/5 or 4/5

Pretty great that this averages to 4.08 for a double album.

I may return to this with a five. I might just do it. I’m not sure. It’s grown on me hugely over the past two days. My first meaningful engagement with a PF album and I suppose it came at just the right time. I was far more “up for it” once I’d read the Wikipedia and understood the concept. Musically, I hear the influence this has on some of my favourite albums (Tranquillity Base…) and many, many others besides. Compelling.

This is admittedly the first time I’ve listened to this album, and it is quite a behemoth. This one needs to sit with me for a bit. But it’s easily *at least* 4.5 stars because, despite its length, it’s a really tight album that flows together nicely for a great listening experience.

How does one even begin to tackle 'Roger Waters and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day?' I'll keep it succinct. Pink Floyd was in a weird place; now under the control of Roger but with enough space to contribute enough to be a band (Unlike the Final Cut). Animals (my favourite PF album) had done well, and the tour did too, but also clearly had done a number on everyone. Oh, and they were being embezzled from and owed the tax man a lot of money. So to come out with such a big album as The Wall, and continue to be popular (with an unexpected disco christmas number one) was a surprise. It's also pretty divisive, given its status as a double-length concept album. Me? It's a game of two halves. The first disc is great: everything builds up in the story in a comprehensible way, and the music itself fits. It still feels like Floyd, especially when Dave and Rick get to do their thing. And I like the overall concept of the dangers of getting disaffected with and isolated from the world. The second half though? It's just... weird. Synthy Fragments, one of Dave's best songs, then a few songs that were meant to be satirically anti-fascist but a lot of people didn't get it, topped off with a bit of musical theatre and an ambiguous ending. It's getting the 4 because I still think it just about sticks the landing, but feel free to dock it 1 to 2 stars if it doesn't for you. Tangent: Roger once joked that he'd wanted to end the album (and the live show)after the Wall had gone up, and while that's not borne out by the demos it may have been better if he had.

There are some undeniable bangers on this. But unlike Dark Side of the Moon this overstays its welcome. Way too many songs that feel more masterbatory than essential. Still, I can’t deny that when it’s great it’s fucking great. 4/5

Some real duds mixed in but absolutely classic in the way the Mona Lisa is classic but not my favorite art. Also why did I hear Billy Joel on the back half of ‘One of my Turns’?

quite mixed in my opinion. some of them sound like songs from a musical, which I really don't like. But on the other hand there are some songs which are probably some of their best. Favorite songs: pt2, mother, comfortable numb, in the flesh. Overall around 7/10

Two simultaneous truths: The Wall needs all of its tracks as a concept album, but it's also a bit bloated. There are fantastic hits on here, and yet it's one of Pink Floyd's weaker albums.

Dark Side of The Moon var ju ett mästerverk.

Stark fyra dock.

The marmite album that split the fans. It's become better over the years but as there are so many versions of it now either live or reassured it's hard to find the definitive version

Gran disco... lo he escuchado varias veces.

Funny how this used to be my favourite Pink Floyd album. I still love it of course, but definitely a bit less than a couple years ago. I think it is just little bit bloated, with a few moments going on for longer than they need to while not really going anywhere. But it is undeniably worth it for the epic moments here. This album is still fantastically theatrical and a beautiful concept album.

This album is 45 years old and I have never listened to it. I like it and that surprised me.

I’ve never listened to Pink Floyd very much at all, but I really liked this album. Pretty good.

Well that was long wasn't it! I'm not so familiar with the wall. Enjoyed a lot of this. But some of it dragged on

Very good. 4.

Fantastic album. Listened to the whole thing straight through twice. Perfect length for a double album. The songs kept moving creating a cohesive through line. Loved all the iterations of Another Brick in the Wall. This is the Pink Floyd album. Worth so many more listens.

Enjoyed listening to this the whole way through. A big long and dramatic at the end, but overall very good.

Ahh... just the ear bleach I needed after that Fairport Convention nightmare. Seriously though, the first time I heard this album I was much younger, and I didn't get it. But after seeing the movie and letting the music sit with me a while, I've come to appreciate it more.

Kind of nervous returning to this - haven't listened to it through for around 30 years. But the remaster sounds fantastic, and I'm relieved to find I still love it. Yes, it's overlong and uneven, particularly losing momentum in the second half (picking up a bit again after Confortably Numb), but as a concept album/rock opera it stands up, with soem amazing heights. It'll never be my favourite Pink Floyd, but it was great to spend the weekend listening to it again. So close to five stars that this rating feels cruel.

I've always had a contentious relationship with Pink Floyd. Most of my musical taste came from my dad, who is one of the biggest audiophiles I know. The man could give you the history of everyone from Sinatra to Outkast and listened to them all. Despite this, for some reason, he haaaated Pink Floyd. I never really knew why because he seemed to like a lot of similar bands but outside of Wish You Were Here he would turn the channel every time they came on the radio. I followed his lead for the most part when it came to music. In a way, I used him as a judgment on whether music was "good" or not so for the longest time, I considered Pink Floyd to be overrated. Then around college, I finally listened to DSOTM for the first time, and like every college student was absolutely blown away by it. I tried listening to the rest of the Pink Floyd discography but never really got into it (I was not a good listener then, and still probably not great now but whatever) I'm glad I finally really listened to this album because while I always knew about the story of "The Wall" and the general concept I hadn't actually gotten able to listen to it fully and as someone who truly loves to listen to and hear stories in albums, it was great to here one of the best concept albums in full for the first time. I said a lot without saying much, whatever 8/10

There is a baseline level of enjoyment that I’m going to get out of a Pink Floyd album. This one does all the really cool Pink Floyd things plus a really cool concept album to boot- but for me I couldn’t help but walk away longing for something to really put me over the top and I never quite got there with this one to call it a spectacular album.

8/10. Classics. Comfortably Numb and Another Brick in the Wall both amazing. Album as a whole very good but not super consistent for me.

This was pretty good but like 10 tracks too long. I liked most of the songs though, apart from The Trial which I kinda liked but also kinda hated because it went on for 2 long. Not bad though very creative and interesting listen

its really good but too long

Excelente album, tanto en melodia como concepto.

I’m not a huge fan of these rock opera or concept albums. However, there are some great songs on this album, so I am going with a 4.

So it's a good album and an interesting one too and it sounds good. It just so. freaking. long. Way too long. Too much. Not a fan of that. This is why so many concept albums fall flat. They're too much.

Awesome prog rock

Obviously great

I never listen to it all the way through, but it’s kind of all over the place with some brilliant moments. I might come back to it again as a full album.

I've heard it said before, 'The Wall' is a lot. I really enjoy the music, and I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, but to an outsider this album can be very difficult. Everyone should listen to Comfortably Numb though, that's the best song in Pink Floyd's discography

A great album from one of the bands that I never understood the insane hype about. The music is great, but I’m not a fan of all the other bells and whistles. It is veeeery long.

Some epic songs, but could have done without a few of the bricks. We get it - it's a concept album.

Would definitely be a 5 if the album ended with "Comfortably Numb", but the 4th side is largely forgettable. Even "Run Like Hell", which was the second single from the album, is just okay. Lot's of awesome highlights otherwise, including "In the Flesh?", "Mother", "Young Lust", "Hey You" and the aforementioned "Comfortably Numb". 4.5 stars.

I really appreciated how this album flowed. It was a pretty welcoming listen. I definitely want to hear it again.

There are some really cool songs on here but they are sandwiched in between a bunch of weird pretentious nonsense that I don’t have time for. The good songs are almost enough to make up for this album being firmly in Tommy territory. Which is quite an achievement because Tommy sucks.

Liked more the experience than the movie version.

Me and my mates played this to absolute death when it came out! Listening to it now there are some excellent tracks on there but as a whole the album is rather depressing really!

I kind of don’t know what to make of this album. On the one hand it has Another Brick in the Wall, which is an absolute classic, and I loved the repeated use of the melody throughout the first disc of the album. But the second disc got kind of weird with songs I felt would be out of place in Oliver! the musical, which took me out of the album as a whole. So I’ll split the difference and give 4 stars.

great rock opera

Never disappoints.

Extremely important as a work of art. As a piece of music it is bloated, and would be a much better listening experience without half of the tracks. But the other half contains some really brilliant songwriting, and one of the best songs ever written in Comfortably Numb.

This was a classic album that was good to listen to as a full album and not just the hits. Spotify wouldn't let me listen to Disc 3 so I am focused on 1 and 2. One weird observation The Trial sounds like Jack Skeleton! His lament song had to have been inspired by the Trial. It sounded just like it could fit perfectly into the Nightmare before Christmas! There were the obvious classics that were great (Run Like Hell, Young Lust, Another Brick in the Wall, Mother). I also really liked Goodbye Blue Sky and it was one I never heard before. I also liked some of the middle songs that transitioned between and gave you a better idea of the entire feel of the album. There were a couple that I did not enjoy or were just out there (Empty Space and Vera) but overall it was a great album, and really should be included on lists like this one. Didn't like Empty Spaces, Vera Obvious ones I like Run Like Hell, Young Lust, Another Brick in the Wall, Mother I couldn't listen to the majority of Disc 3

Based on the other "prog rock albums" or even "iconic, classic albums" I've listened to on this list so far, I was expecting to either hate or be absolutely bored by this. I actually thought it was fine - I wasn't totally blown away by it, but I thought it was interesting and had great ideas. It helped that the instruments sounded cohesive, unlike some of the other albums on this list. It's obviously a little bloated and self-indulgent at 26 tracks, and of course I couldn't really understand Pink's story on my first listen. But I'm looking forward to listening to this a few more times, and maybe I'll get it one day.

Childhood nostalgia probably plays a part here. There were quite large segments that seemed bloated and unnecessary but when it hits...

Will listen again, there were songs I knew already but the context helped

I have a feeling this is the last Floyd album on here. It’s a doozy too. All the classics are here like Another Brick in the Wall, Comfortably Numb, Hey You, I also have always been a fan of Run Like Hell. Not every song works and it’s fine when the album is as long as this. But it’s still a feat to behold all together.

Starting to get the idea, that Pink Floyd is the real deal. This album, like a few others we've had, is fantastic. So many great tracks (more that I recognize than I would've guessed), and it's got a great connected flow throughout. A bit long if I had to complain, but I really don't have to. I'm not sure how I'd rank it against Wish You Were Here, but it's got some undeniable heat. These guys were the real deal, huh? Favorite tracks: Comfortably Numb, Hey You, Another Brick in the Wall, Thin Ice, Goodbye Blue Sky, One of My Turns, Run Like Hell. Album art: It's a white brick wall with the text in a sort of blood font. Extremely simple, but it sticks with you so easily. 4.5/5

I love Floyd, but it's been a loooooong time since I listened to the wall, I used to find it quite dark and very convoluted. It's still a bit of both, but I enjoyed it much more musically this time around. It's no Animals or DSotM though think you 100% need the visuals too.

Classic album!!

Just for legacy purposes this is an automatic 4/5. However this is probably one of the only 4/5s i will never come back to listen to (besides maybe the jazz ones?) Theres just something about this album, that idk, feels quiet to me? This is the chillest "rock" album I've ever heard. But the musicality is insane and should be recognized. Its great don't get me wrong, but I just would go to so many other albums or bands before thinking of going to this one. Songs of note: Another brick in the wall pt. 2 Goodbye Blue Sky Hey You Is There Anybody Out There? (strictly only bc it sounds like it would be fun to play on guitar) The Trial I'm also gonna use this album to note other albums that need their rating changed/updated. "Peter Gabriel 3" 3 -> 2 "Since I Left You" 4 -> 5

I listened to this year's all and it didn't really click. I have it a good try this time and I think I need to spend some more time with it. There's a lot here and I think I'm only starting to scratch the surface. 4.5/5

There are some absolutely brilliant tracks on The Wall. If you distilled them all onto a single album it’d be 5 stars all the way. But it’s a double album… A bit uneven in places and over long. For all that still exceptional.

There are several rock classics on this one, as well as some neat ideas. If this had been edited down to about 10-12 tracks, then it's probably 5 stars. The filler tracks knock it down to a 4 in my book.

Good album. Nice one to start with

I get that they are telling a story here, but there is to much of it. The songs are mostly good but there is too much down time.

So nice of Pink Floyd to write an album about Mark Wahlburg!

Classic.

Tough call. I remember getting this as a birthday gift when i was in middle school, and being disappointed with it. Now that I’m older I can appreciate the genius. But still there are swaths of it, especially on the second disc, that I don’t enjoy musically. Would give it a 4.5 if I could. There’s no denying I have listened to Dark Side of the Moon over and over again and this one, not… but is it fair to ding it for being over-ambitious and more challenging?

pretty heat

In the Flesh? 4.3 The Thin Ice 4 Another Brick in the Wall, Part 1 3.8 The Happiest Days of Our Lives 3.6 Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2 4.4 Mother 4.2 Goodbye Blue Sky 3.8 Empty Spaces 3.8 Young Lust 4.2 One of My Turns 4 Don't Leave Me Now 4 Another Brick in the Wall, Part 3 3.7 Goodbye Cruel World 3.5 Hey You 4.5 Is There Anybody Out There? 3.7 Nobody Home 3.6 Vera 3.8 Bring the Boys Back Home 3.7 Comfortably Numb 4.7 The Show Must Go On 3.9 In the Flesh 4.1 Run Like Hell 4.2 Waiting for the Worms 4.2 Stop n/a The Trial 3.8 Outside the Wall 3.7 Score: 3.968

i wouldn’t listen to most of this for fun per se but it’s objectively very good

Takes you on a journey. Really puts you in a different environment. I always have to be exclusively listening to them whenever I do.

Clasic Rock

Overall, It's a great experience more than it is a collection of individual great songs. I'd have to say that Wish You Were Here was better able to find the happy medium between valuing the experience (like The Wall) and individual tracks (like DSOTM). Still incredible, but doesn't lend well for casual listening outside of a few huge hits.

Rock classic. Great album front to back, but I prefer pink floyd’s more experimental records. 4.3/5

Some things become so iconic that you assume they are overrated. The Wall is like that. It’s not their best work, but it’s good. Comfortably Numb, Hey You, Another Brick in the wall are fantastic. The concept is simple and clear, but it’s tooooo long 8.6/10

Auditory insanity, it's pretty much impossible to describe this album in any succinct way. Definitely one to listen to a few more times to try and properly absorb the lyrics.

This is a very good album full of soft music that I was able to vibe to.

One of the major albums by famous rock band pink Floyd, considered a masterpiece and a must listen. I quite enjoyed the album and thoroughly liked some of the songs , though I thought it was a bit on the lengthier side for a project that is not a double album.

Great album.

Part of my musical DNA but not as much as The Dark Side of the Moon or Woods You Were Here!

First listen. Been on the list for some time. Pretty good.

It's Pink Floyd's The Wall what else do you need to know. Classic rock opera not going to list all the great songs but her is a few. Stand out tracks: - The thin ice - Another brick in the wall pt 2 - Goodbye blue sky - Young lust - Don't leave me now - Hey you - Comfortably numb - Run like hell - The trial

A little long winded at times, but much of this album is great. Kind of an experience more than just an album. 3.5/5 Probably will listen again

This is probably the only rock opera or rock concept album that I think really sticks to its guns the whole way through. That cuts both ways, as the second LP is a bit more challenging and disjointed, but by design. This album remains challenging and deliberately off putting at times.

oh, yeah i know this one

87% Best: In the Flesh(?), Young Lust, Hey You, Nobody Home, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, Waiting for the Worms, The Trial Must-Hear? Sure

Great album

There's no album that sounds like this one. Each song flows together and connects together creating an entire narrative. The guitar on this is also really good. The issue is some songs individually aren't very strong. It also sounds pretty dated in areas. Really good album but not all of it is for me.

I don’t know enough about music to know why this is allegedly so awesome. But it was very good.

A good album with some classic Pink Floyd songs, Another Brick in the Wall, Is There Anybody Out There and Comfortably Numb are always favorites of mine.

It took me a couple of days to get to this because it's just so long and I knew that as a rock opera/concept album breaking it up into shorter chunks wouldn't be ideal. I've heard it before, so there weren't any surprises. This was my first time listening to it with headphones, which made for a fun new experience. It's long, and it drags in spots, but the overall concept and music are solid. "Comfortably Numb" is obviously the standout.

Amazing

Pink Floyd, baby!
