Reviews (page 12 of 13)

Sounds a little dated. Some nice nostalgic moments, but I like my rock to be a bit more distorted. After growing up in the 90's this kinda still feels like my parents generation sound.

toight toight toight toight pants (fav songs: brown sugar, sway, wild horses)

is good ⭐⭐⭐

Good solid oldies, but nothing new.

Couple of great songs, a couple of stinkers. This album is more notable for the cover art than the music. A strong opener and closer help it, but 'You Gotta Move' and 'Sister Morphine' are low points.

It's the rolling stones I guess, reasonably enjoyable listen.

I enjoyed this album. Some fun slide guitar parts and memorable tunes, but nothing that makes what to jump up and dance. Good background music at the local drinking hole.

I was never much of a Stones fan, but my friend Jim managed to get me into a few of their albums when I was in my 30's (Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Satanic Majesty's). But for whatever reason, this one just never appealed. Clearly, there's a lot of care in the arrangements and production. And I do like some of the songs (Moonlight Mile, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, I Got the Blues), but none of them would be my top ten Stones' songs. And meanwhile, Wild Horses has never done a thing for me; Sister Morphine... I don't know, songs about addiction mostly bore me; You Gotta Move is like nails on a chalkboard; and I don't even really know what to think about Brown Sugar (though the "You should've heard them just around midnight" part is a damn catchy piece of songwriting). So, I get that people love this. It's just not for me.

I guess I somewhat like this because it’s familiar. There are some good grooves. It’s not really my thing though. Okay, Can’t you hear me knocking is actually super cool. Is it gonna be a theme that I prefer famous bands’ unknown instrumental pieces?? Bitch has some fun instrumentation. Sister Morphine is kinda cool. Dead flowers is a country song? It sounds so different from the rest of the album. I like Moonlight Mile. Not sure I understand it but it’s kinda scratching my brain. This album is such a mixed bag, it’s wild.

This was my first Stones album. It was pretty good but I don’t see the big appeal just yet. I think they need more time with me to sit with me, so I can appreciate them more

Southern vibes, slow, blues-y

acceptable.

I like Brown Sugar as long as I don’t think about the meaning. I also like Wild Horses. The rest kinda smushed into one in my head.

Not my favourite Rolling Stones album. It starts off strong but peters out pretty quickly in my opinion. Additionally not a big fan of the country sound on some of these Saved tracks: Brown Sugar, Wild Horses

Clean and classic Stones. For those researching the era this is a very decent rocker

They’re a singles band aren’t they! Wild Horses is stunning.

Highlights: "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," "Bitch" First time giving the Stones a full listen, but pretty much knew how it was going to go. We can only hear them refracted through the people they influenced, and their contributions are now mostly cliche or worse. The good: The Stones know how to stab. They know how to use space to grab the listener. Their guitarists have a strong connection and know how to fill each other in. The old comparison to the Beatles is kind of absurd, but Stones' lyrics are smarter, with more thrust and coherence. The bad: Their twofold transatlantic minstrel show is especially repugnant on "You Gotta Move" and "Dead Flowers". This is the year after Let It Be and sure enough there's Phil Spector-y bullshit arrangements on a few tracks. It wasn't that far into the Stones' career but it's already kind of an echo chamber for the rock world.

well done, oddly country vibes just not my type of rock but classic anyways fav songs: bitch, i got the blues

Good songs here and there, but as usual with the Stones, they just can't get their combined minds to make a decent album from start to finish.

Good songs here and there, but I never get hook by Rolling stones - not a fan

Half of the album is made of very great and strong songs and the other half is incredibly average and poor. By chance, the nice songs are VERY good.

A very back to basics record. Sometimes you miss the simplicity of what music used to be, and the possibility of what else music could be. Because even if this doesn't necessarily blow minds in 2023, it's a great piece of musical history to go back to. Standout tracks are Brown Sugar (one of my favorite Rolling Stones tracks in general), Wild Horses, and I Got the Blues.

Alright... not bad... not unenjoyable, but they were never my favorite.

Decent album. I have no desire to listen to it again, but then it doesn’t help that I’m not the biggest Stones fan. I just don’t find their music very intelligent. Does not speak to me.

It was fine

It’s a good album. Reminds me of my dad. I do however find the blatant rip off of r and b musicians to be a bit distracting.

It was good but didn't really catch my attention

This listen was a bit sticky, in a bad way

Wild Horses is an all time great song. Not my favorite Stones album otherwise.

It’s cool! I used to record a band that sang like these guys. It’s cool to here their influence.

Historically I have struggled to find The Rolling Stones to be worth my time when it comes to listening to one of their records. As a younger person who was influenced by my POP's record collection in the beginning, I appreciated the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and many others from the jump. The Stones were the band from that era I trashed consistently. Over time I've been able to appreciate more of the music and a few of Mick Jagger's best performances. This record has a couple of tracks that I enjoyed; they were: Brown Sugar and Wild Horses. And so I give this record one star for posterity and a star for each song I could dig.

Decent enough. Whatevs

Good old fashioned rock and roll.

It's the Rolling Stones. It's Sticky Fingers. I would love to give it 5 stars but I've never listened to a Stones album and put it on my list of things to listen to over and over again. Great great songs but not a whole album.

- Never listened to this in full before - Similar feeling to most Stones albums I've heard, some really good songs and some that I think are only ok - Fav songs: Wild Horses, Brown Sugar, Sway

Not a big fan of this older style of blues-y rock in general, nothing against this album in particular.

Generally pleasant, something good, something meh, not excited

it's ok

Zoveel goede muziek van de Stones. Maar dit album is echt overschat...

Probably my favourite Stones album. Mainly because Wild Horses is my favourite Stones song. While I'm not the biggest fan this is a band at its peak.

bien pero tranqui. 7 / 10

Never listened to a Rolling Stones Album before. I had to get up to check if it was a Blues singer. I’m from Memphis-home of the Blues, so I know our sound. I found myself in a deep while about how they were inspired by the sound. Connection made. Good listen.

I appreciate what The Rolling Stones has done for music and their influence on others, but this was a middle-of-the-road album for me.

Good stuff!

This album has some hits but it desperately lacks some bangers. It's far from pain to listen to, I would even say it's good. But it reeks out false sentiment in some places and bores in others.

Didn't catch me at all, it's not bad but I honestly expected more...

Some really classic Stones songs.

This sounds like music for sad drunk guys at a biker bar in Alabama.

There were some memorable and endearing parts, notably Wild Horses and Sister Morphine, but it felt bogged down by the rest of the album. Ultimately, I think this album would've benefited from a slight trimming. Still a pretty charming album, just not world-shattering.

Veldig gode på bluse sanger. Litt ensidig og mye av det samme.

Classic Rock n Roll. Not their best album but still good for cruising around town.

Not my favorite of their albums but still a good one.

It was all right but nothing much special on this album IMO

As usual with a stones album, there's some good songs and some bad songs. Not as good as Let It Bleed (but also not as bad).

Yeah, cool. The hard-panned guitars get a bit grating after a while. Couple of decent tunes though. Stand out tracks: Can You Hear Me Knocking, Wild Horses, Bitch.

A few standout tracks: Wild Horses, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, Bitch

Wild Horses best track on the album

Rolling Stone neutral

Perusvarma

Dunno why but I just get put off listening to this one - The best songs are not the singles (although Sway is great, if that counts) - Can't you hear me knocking probably my favourite, superb riff. Moonlight Mile. There's some nice blues and stuff. I much prefer Townes Van Zandt's version of Dead Flowers. It's a good album no question but I've never completely understood why it's vaunted by many as the best Stones album.

Best Song: Wild Horse. even though this song has attained a sort of cliché status, it really holds up. I find the main lyric of "wild horses couldn't drag me away" is really evocative, and Mick Jagger's giant personality is sufficiently under control here. Worst Song: You Gotta Move. Absolute travesty of an blues take. Overall: Having not grown up in the heyday of the Rolling Stones and instead knowing the group as a bunch of (impressive) geriatrics, they sit in a weird spot for me. I don't find their music particularly interesting, but it is very familiar. It's largely that familiarity that succeeds for me here.

first listen good, but didn't hold my attention

good stuff but not my cup of tea.

Better album than Aftermath. Songs are all stronger overall and feel less repetitive. Tapers out the longer the album goes on, but the first half especially is good.

The Stones were a great covers and singles band. Sue me.

This was cooler than expected but it's still just early 70s rock. I'll probably never really understand why these guys are so popular. Still, guess it's better than the Beatles. 3/5.

I love wild horses but give or take the rest

The stones just aren't my cup of tea. Some great moments here to try and convince me otherwise, but meh. I enjoyed reading about the making of this record though.

Really like bits of this - Brown Sugar a classic, and Wild Horses is even better. Then it starts to go a bit downhill. Can't You Hear Me Knocking is overblown and self-indulgent, You Gotta Move carries on in the same vein, but it picks up again after that with Bitch and I Got The Blues. Nice, slow, really bluesy sound carries on a little, then gets more upbeat in style for Dead Flowers and Moonlight Mile is a nice chilled ending. Comfortable 3 for me, probably would've made a 4 without the two tracks that annoyed me in the middle.

I often feel awkward rating albums by bands like the Rolling Stones, because while I acknowledge their towering legend and inescapable influence, sometimes I just personally find them a bit underwhelming.

It was an okay rock album.

1st half is great, 2nd half less so. Almost a but not quite

Not the best Rolling Stones album. Sounded very generic bluesy in a lot of places.

I enjoyed

This is the third album recommended from the Rolling Stones. The three songs that I liked the most are all songs that I've heard before many times ("Wild Horses", "Dead Flowers", "Brown Sugar"). But even these tracks don't call to me for a second listen. I like covers of "Wild Horses" more than the original from the Stones. Overall, the album can be summed up as, "Sure, okay". It was an album, but I wouldn't miss it.

Genre: Blues Rock 3/5 For as much praise and adoration that's regularly dumped upon The Rolling Stones, their two albums I've listened to so far throughout this exercise have been rather underwhelming. Not altogether terrible, just disappointing. Let It Bleed was a project buoyed by its big singles, with the rest of the album packed with rock equivalents of doing the chores, formulaic and tedious filler. This, on the other hand, is a more cohesive project, with no one track overshadowing the others, but overall lacks that spunk and swagger that I feel a great Stones record should have. The production value on this is apparent, expensive strings and solid arrangements all around, but this doesn't make it a great album. Brown Sugar and Wild Horses are both "standouts", but neither are high-powered jams, settling instead for a purely straight blues approach, and Wild Horses is about 2-and-a-half minutes too long. Mick Jagger sounds great, but it really does sound as if the rest of the group is going through the motions. Not a bad album, but didn't hit the mark for me. I'm excited to get one of their more psychedelic albums in the future, but for now, this is meh.

I get it, The Stones are considered one of the greatest rock bands in history. Listening to this record though I considered that if I was in the mood for blues rock I'd rather go for Led Zeppelin or White Stripes, or whatever. The one thing that puts me off is that I can't stand Mick Jagger's vocals, at least on this record.

Bluesy and a bit country, classic classic rock.

A good album with a few great tracks

Got a cool rock, funky vibe to it. I think the different vibes and melodies make it accessible for a wide range of audiences

No soy muy fana de los rollings. Me gustaron la mayoría de temas. Brown sugar creo que es mi preferido.

The penultimate good Rolling Stones album. It's good, but not great; an effective mix of blues, rock and rock 'n' roll. Guitar, bass and drums with little else relative to the previous couple of albums.

was good. highlights were wild horses and can’t you hear me knocking. don’t think I’ll listen to this fully anytime soon, but I enjoyed it a fair bit.

It was alright

Rockin

Fattar int

This is a pretty solid album, some songs are really good and I liked how they added more of a soul/blues style. The problem is, I just didn't connect with it that much. Wild Horses is exceptional though.

I really feel like I should be rating this higher, but the enjoyment just isn't there. Can I appreciate this album's importance? Yeah, sure. Do I see the technical skill, creativity, and musical ability that went into it? Of course. Do I actually want to listen to it again? Wild Horses yeah, but probably not the rest.

I don't think The Rolling Stones can quite pull of the range of genres they reach for in this album, but it's still quite good! I'm not the biggest fan of their attempts at slow songs, but I understand those songs' popularity.

Not the biggest Stones fan. I get it, I just don't get it the way the real fans do. That said, I don't mind this album. Favorite track I Got the Blues!

Pretty average for a Stones album. Wild Horses and Dead Flowers are my favourite but strangely I can't stand Brown Sugar.

Another good Stones album, with fewer country-style hits than the last one I listened to. Brown Sugar is a jam but has *terrible* lyrics - glad to hear that the band has stopped playing it.

“Sayonara to a messy 1969.”

Was ok

Vooral dat Can't you hear me knockin' heeft echt een coole groove.

qualche notevole eccezione, in generale mi annoiano

I am the proud owner of this original release on vinyl, including the functioning zipper. As you would expect, the record itself is practically unplayable, but it's a cool piece of history to own. As for the album itself, this is definitely the Rolling Stones' best showing. That being I am not much of a Stones fan, I'm not all that captured by them even at their best.

Meh. Wild horses was good.

Brown Sugar and Bitch are standouts, but overall this was a relatively easy listening experience, good for the background.

Meh. I thought I’d like this, but nope. I must have been thinking about other albums of theirs.

oh hey i know this one

Never been a big fan of Mick Jagger and thus, never gave the Stones a decent chance. Was pleasantly surprised by this album and can see why it's counted as one of their best. Knew more songs than I thought I would. Can't You Hear Me Knocking was my fave.

Please stop giving classic rock i beg u. good album tho you gotta move docks one star and fatigue docks another

Well mixed with some classics, not sure if listen to it all again though

A couple good songs, but I'm just not a fan... Wild Horses is the best song on here. You Gotta Move made my body tense up.

Nice rock

I knew a few of the songs...overall pretty good.

Normal

Same as last listen;-). Enjoyable enough, just not my bag man. Plus, that album art is nauseating.

My MIL walks in the house and was like “This is MY music”

FT: Brown sugar

Very good

Raffgieriges Manegement vor den Türen ruft „can‘t you hear me knocking“.

Nothing really caught my ears.

This was much more listenable than the previous two albums by Rolling Stones. Good Bluesy stuff.

Not bad, not really impressed or moved any particular way. 5/10, the physical zipper on some of the records are cool

Rolling stones ya know, classic songs on here of course but not my style generally

fun to listen to but once again not something i would listen to regularly

Another album that's fine but just kind of "meh" to me. It didn't strike me as anything particularly special or exciting

wild horses is wonderful. All others are standard stones, which is grand but not my cuppa tea.

A couple of good ones - Wild Horses a classic

Can't you hear me knockin!

It's fine.

honestly didn’t think this was a particularly strong album, but some of the songs were really stand out tracks, most of the songs just took too long to get good. 3.5

Good one

It's alright. You can really hear the appropriation of Black music genres like the blues. More slow songs than I expected.

Aloin kuuntelemaan tätä hieman varautuneesti, koska Rollarien bluesrock-touhu ei ole ikinä oikein iskenyt itseeni. Levyltä kuitenkin löytyi väsyneen rokkiveivaamisen lisäksi muutama todella herkullinen slovari. Varsinkin ennestään tuttu Wild Horses, I Got The Blues ja Moonlight Mile olivat oikein päteviä fiilistelybiisejä.

Like the genre, like the music, not among my favourites More country influence than expected

I enjoyed much more than I thought. I shot off amazing songs. A little slower than ib though too.

noice i think . rolling stones

Good album, sad bop ish if you’re in the mood ya kno. Could also listen high. Just a solid Rolling Stones vibe u kno what it issss

Not their greatest Album but still ok.

Classic.

Some office-chair-swaying from me, but nothing I'd whack out Shazam to, if I heard it come on and I didn't know what it was.

Favourite songs: bitch, wild horses, you gotta move

Decent record. Although I don't think it's a great album, I did enjoy listening to it quite a bit.

Better than Beggars. In particular, the instrumentation and arrangement were much more interesting while still sounding raw. Still middling. There are apparently six Stones albums in the book; I'll have to see what I think of the other four.

Not bad!

quintessential classic rock, didn't realize it had so much other instrumentation (besides guitars)

The most boring, and perhaps overrated, rock album of all time. Not actively bad, just not remotely exciting to listen to.

very underwhelming start{?} love the concept of this website but im excited for what is next, did not finish the album but i can see why people would like it, simply not my vibe. 3/10

They certainly do some great singles, but I'm not finding anything of the same quality buried in the albums

The Rolling Stones are boring.

2 - Some great riffs and vocals, but some cringe/creepy lyrics in Brown Sugar set the tone early as something I don't want to listen to again.

Good enough

it was a bit too country for my taste. frankly, i wanted to rip my ears off while listening to ''you gotta move''. there were solid songs on the album so i'm not gonna hate. classic 70's rock album. it was fine but three stars seem generous.

Not a big fan. Too simple bluesy sound ain't for me

It had very nice highs but some boring lows and his voice is a little annoying.

I'm burned out by the list and it's repeating bands

Every song sounds the same- same guitar tone. The harmonies are whiney and almost sour. But I still like it better than other Rolling Stones albums Ive had to listen to so far.

I just don't think anything will ever get me to like the Rolling Stones. I find Mick Jagger's voice unpleasant to listen to.

A fairly pedestrian effort to be considered a Stones “classic”. It helps to reveal how weak their catalogue is once you get past the hits.

Something about the mix of this felt off? I’m sure headphones that have been through the washing machine several times is not how them stones intended the music to be heard but idk the compression maybe? I liked what was happening but didn’t actually really enjoy listening to it. A collection of songs i’d prefer to hear performed by a drunk choir i think.

I know it’s blasphemy to say anything negative against the Rolling Stones but this album was fine.

Brown sugar was good, good musicians bad singers

I never really liked their honky tonk style

Quite boring and all sounded very samey. Not memorable.

Boring album with no ambition. I'm already put off by some of rolling stones lyrics so I have no desire to pay attention to them here. 2

I know they are legends but it feels so dated

Can’t you hear me knocking est cool.

I was underwhelmed by this one. I can sort of see the appeal, but it just isn't for me.

There's some decent songs here, but mostly not so much. I don't get the appeal of the Stones. They're not that good and never have been.

I was never a Stones fan, but it's still good.

Not my cup of tea but instrumentals sound very good. Give me cowboys, indie western, end scenes in movies. I could only listen to this if I ride a fucked up car travelling to a far city or at the end of a party I ended up being sad drunk at.

This is my second Rolling Stones album and l am as bored as when I listened to the first one. It's not horrible, but not good imo. It doesn't have that wow factor that keeps me interested.

First song icky. How is this the same album that banger Wild Horses is on… crazy.

I liked this more than the previous Stones albums I’d listened to, but I would be lying if I said it converted me to a fan, or to even understand the hype. I really don’t know these just don’t seem to land with me like they do with other people. It’s definitely not bad, but it’s just not moving the needle for me in any notable way.

I never realized this until curving out a full album - maybe the Rolling Stones have good songs, but not great albums?

Chiller than I was expecting, but also I think they found their vibe in their popular stuff

Good album. "Wild Horses" is such a great song. I enjoy Susan Boyle's audition version on AGT.

No fue de mi agrado

not so meins

Are the Rolling Stones the most over rated band in history?

Not really a fan. There are a few stand-out songs on here like Brown Sugar & Wild Horses, but other than that, it feels kind of samey and overall uninteresting to me. Not something I hate, but probably wouldn't listen to it again.

I am in the camp of people that believe The Rolling Stones are unbelievably overrated. Here is the catch that separates them from other overrated bands... when they write a good song its AMAZING. This album is a clear cut example of that, 2 flat out great songs, 2 decent songs and the rest sounds like the majority of their catalog, messy and not messy in a good way. I would say half of this record is 4 stars and rest is 2. 3 stars it is. Special shout out to the dick print.

Not a fav Stones record.

I think i preferred it when they were doing Honky Tonk than whatever this is. A middling of the road “classic”. Boring. 2/5

70s blues rock by rich white men continues to be the thing I reliably dislike most on this list. Musically, I actually enjoyed this, though. It's much more about the groove than about macho posturing guitar solos etc. Lyrically, however, it contains some of the most eye-watering misogyny and racism I've heard in this project so far, which is really saying something. 'Brown Sugar'is absolutely not something anyone should have to hear EVER, let alone something everyone needs to hear before they die.

Im so meh on this album, I wouldn't turn this off if someone wanted to play it, but I would never willing choose to listen to this. I can understand it's importance I'm just so utterly uninterested in it. I like some of the blues influences I guess.

First time listen Pretty uninteresting dad rock for me. I can see that it's well produced but it doesn't do much for me. Fav track: Sister Morphine, Moonlight Mile Least fav: Brown Sugar, I Got The Blues

There's a couple good songs in there and the rest is filler, 2/5.

maybe this isn't my genre. felt slow, save for brown sugar- i liked that one. the rest of the songs didn't stand out to me. maybe they might for another person but not me.

will give another listen but rating a 2 for now

Wild Horses

Brown Sugar is an insane opening song, lyrically only. None of these songs are insane musically. I could not tell where one song started and another ended. It was less boring than previous albums, so 2 ⭐️ I guess.

lwk dont knw what to say here its ass at first but aint tht bad the more u think abt it but i js wouldnt listen to this, fairs to the ppl tht like it

Continued proof to me that The Rolling Stones have never made an album that's enjoyable from start to finish. There are a couple of good moments here, sure, but they're just that: moments that exist between some of the most hollow fake swagger I':be ever heard put to tape. "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" has a killer riff, but everything else on here is skippable.

FAVS (top 3): brown sugar, wild horses, i got the blues mençoes honrosas: cant you hear me knocking, bitch, sister morphine ah gente grandes coisas mo nada a ve poderia morrer sem ter ouvido esse sinceramente nota final: 2/5

Mediocre band playing mediocre songs. I just can't get into the stones.

this was whatever. i listened to it while cleaning and honestly kept checking to see if it was over. +1 star for wild horses

Boring upbeat. 2/5

The Rolling Stones haven't won me over yet, and this album isn't changing that. Favorite track(s): "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and "Moonlight Mile" weren't too bad.

23:51 nisam fan moram priznati, ne dopada mi se uopšte, ali mi pogrešno djeluje da dam The Rolling Stones niske ocjene, … iskreno boli me uvo

5/10 - the distinctive rolling stones sound, it's alright

Rawk on

This album starts off with Brown Sugar and I'm not sure it ever really gets any better. But at least it doesn't get worse! And at least if you ignore the lyrics, it sounds cool I guess!

Honestly, can never get into the rolling stones, but they do a great job of dragging me kicking and screaming to a certain era of music. Banana:fruit as Rolling Stones:Early Rock, n'at.

Was not a big fan of this album, funny, I have heard some of these songs before and didn't know it was by them. I skipped a lot of songs, unfortunately.

Not for me. Too much filler.

niet zo mijn ding

Eh I didn't love it

fine not sold tho

Aside from "wild horses" there's not much to note. The last half of the album almost sounds like they're doing a parody

Not my type of music

idgaf rolling stones

i didnt like it that much tbf, not my style of music, too unhinged

I've only heard Brown Sugar before this and while a pretty good song, it's hard to hear it as "one of the top then greatest records in the history of rock’n’roll ". This at the time when Black Sabbath was putting out "Master of Reality" and had already released "Paranoid". Or Pink Floyd's "Meddle" or The Doors, Janis Joplin, Jethro Tull, Santana, Deep Purple and so on. Led Zeppelin's album with "Stairway to Heaven" came out the same year, for fex sakes! Personally, I've never been much of an fan, for me Rolling Stones has been the vanilla of rock 'n roll, kind of like Elvis brought watered down black music to the masses, I feel Rolling Stones made hard rock but watered down and to suit everyone. The album is quite a bit spread out stylistically, usually that's not a bad thing, but the width of styles on this one is enough to make it feel very inconsistent. Also, too many ballads. Upon listening to the album, I did get quite positively surprised by few tracks. Namely Bitch and Sway.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled...was convincing boomers that The Rolling Stones weren't dog shit.

Too old

Mueeeeeeeeeeeeh

Definitely not my style

I prefer music with more lyrics than instrumental

sounded like sad country, not my cuppa tea

2.5/5 A few good songs but I only rated 3 songs 3/5 so it gets a 2

Is with this album that I think I can confidently say that blues rock is not my thing. I didn't like the previous Rollings Stone's album that I had to hear, that would be 'Beggars Banquet', and I also not crazy about The Doors or Janis Joplin, just to bring some examples of what I saw was considered Blues Rock. And also I'm not a fan of country rock. So anyone reading this should have an idea of where I'm going to. I did not like this album. I find it to be quite bland and uninteresting. The only songs I can say I liked were 'Bitch', because I really liked the energy and the horns in the chorus; and 'Sister Morphine', a very slow and emotional track about the dependency of drugs and their withdrawal. I would also like to say that I liked 'Brown Sugar', as it is also one of the most energetic tracks, but the lyrics are so terrible and aged incredibly bad. People from this time had an unhealthy obsession with teenagers... Now let's continue talking about what I didn't like. 'Wild Horses' is a painful acoustic country ballad, 'You Gotta Move' is a boring blues track, 'I Got the Blues' feels overdramatic, 'Dead Flowers' and 'Moonlight Mile' have a very irritating country twang and the rest is forgettable. It is the worst I've hear from this list? Nope. As much as I didn't like it, it wasn't that draining as other albums.

i'll admit i only listened to half of it sorry but it sounded nice to my ears

A lot of songs about drugs, and rhythms to accompany your own drug usage

Ok this album has some groove but I can’t really get over Mick Jagger’s strange impression of a honky tonk guy with the very British-sounding (cheesy) choruses. Like, why? At the same time, I can see how an album like this would influence future generations of folk rock guys.

Not the biggest fan as I feel they have made better albums such as Some Girls. But still liked the great riffs in this album and its bluesy vibe.

Really liked some of the guitar riffs here, but mostly bounced off this one

I want to love Rolling Stones but they just feel a bit meh

It's sleazy, dirty sounding blues rock music. I don't think it's anything more or anything less. It's decent enough. I just don't think I'll ever be a Stones guy. I much prefer The Beatles, Led Zep, and probably most of the popular bands around at the same time. 'Can't You Hear Me Knocking' is a great song I can't deny that. 'Brown Sugar' though popular, I find pretty bland and nothing special. This is probably sacrilege but Susan Boyle did a version of 'Wild Horses' that I think is infinitely better, and more beautiful and I will die on that hill. I just don't think I'll ever get the hype around the Stones. As much as Jagger is a very eccentric frontman with a distinctive voice, I think they were around at the right time playing the right (pretty bland for my tastes) music.

I like the instrumentation more than I expected but just not a fan of his singing style.

I haven’t listened to much of The Rolling Stones, in fact, this might be the most I have listened to them. The album felt too repetitive for me, though I did enjoy myself most of the time.

I think of myself as someone who doesn't really care for The Rolling Stones. I don't actively dislike them, I've just never found them very compelling. After listening closely to this album, I think it's just Mike Jagger that I don't like. When Jagger isn't singing, I really dig the bluesy, country rock. The guitar is great! There's a surprising amount of sax! But Jagger's voice feels tedious to me and I found myself mostly hoping he would just shut up already. The cringy misogyny and unexamined racism doesn't help. So, I feel mixed, many of the songs are catchy, pop sugar but while this listen made me think a little harder about why I feel the way I do about The Rolling Stones, it didn't really change the conclusion. The cover is great though, very appropriate, that's a 4/5.

Confession - I've never liked the Rolling Stones. I don't like Jagger's over affected vocals or their "swagger" affectation. They are by far the lowest of the British invasion bands in my eyes. Anyway - for this album, Sweet Sugar is truly one of the most offensive songs ever written and performed and I'm shocked they never pulled it from circulation with an apology. Seriously, read the lyrics sheet and try to redeem or apologize for it. Can't be done. Sway is meh. But then, Wild Horses followed by Can't You Hear Me Knocking are freakin' amazin', and wrapping up the side with a well done blues cover, although hearing a real delta blues performer rather than some English punters would be better. I'll credit that if this introduced a new audience to explore this genre then perhaps some good came of this work. Moving on to side 2, a bit of neutral tracks of varying styles. Dead Flowers centers around a horrible fake southern drawl by Richards. If you want great American delta blues and country, why are you buying an album from a British hack band? Should be a 1, but for Can't You Hear Me Knockin' lifting it up to the 2 despite itself.

Not as strong as some of their other albums but not bad. Not feeling the lyrics on most of these and not a fan of brown sugar.

Over it

Top track: Brown Sugar / Wild Horses

Not a great album

Twangy sound

Album art is hot but ngl music kinda bored me

Second Stones album in just a few days and I'm sticking to what I said about Beggars Banquet: the Stones feel like a singles band to me, not an album band. So much mediocre, forgettable filler. But Wild Horses is incredible.

very Rolling Stones. i did not dislike it as much as i have other Rolling Stones albums on this list, but that's not saying all that much. 2.5

the hits are the hits and the rest of it is bad cosplay

The Rolling Stones is another band that gives me the same feelings I have about ones like The Grateful Dead. I've always heard about how incredible their whole body of work the Stones is. I have no doubts it was revolutionary at the time of release, I just still have yet to listen to any album by them that gives me more than a momentary pause of "I'll never pick to listen to that song again, but it was pretty decent".

I don't know, doesn't really do it for me. Don't hate it, just found it to be alright. None of my favorite Stones tracks are on it either. All I could think about was eating at Bill Wyman's mediocre restaurant of the same name which I guess is now closed. I should get some BBQ soon. Puilled pork sandwiches are my favorite food tbh.

Let's face it, The Rolling Stones were on a trajectory that would establish them as probably the biggest live act on the planet for the next 50 years as they entered the 70s. The quality of their studio output, meanwhile, has followed a path which is, more or less, conversely proportional to their enduring success. As a general trend, of course. There are a few anomalies along the way, and Exile On Main Street was yet to come - but as the 60s drew to a close, the Stones jettisoned the experimentation and went with a tried-and-tested blues rock formula that has served them well through the rest of their career. Sticky Fingers contains a couple of great tracks, but it's got some fairly turgid filler on there too which stands up purely on the talent of enthusiasm of the band performing it. For many this is "classic" Stones, but for me they were kind of starting to churn them out at this point, it's all just a bit too formulaic.

Found this a bit dull. Stones albums usually have one stand out track but nothing i remember

Not my thing

I really don't like the rolling stones, every song sounds the same to me. Not unlistenable, just really boring. Best songs here are Sway and Moonlight Mile.

Not a stones fan tbh

First time I have really listened to Rolling Stones beyond the more popular singles - this band just doesn't do it for me, mostly because of mick jagger. Even the slower stuff on this album, which I wanted to like (I Got the Blues) seems washed out because of that broke Mick Jagger voice. It's like listening to your Aunt who think's she can sing, but absolutely cant, like that Phoebe chick from the show Friends. I do not get the appeal.

Almost ok.

Was looking forward to this album but it was a major letdown. Found myself wanting to skip a few songs. Very disappointed.

I find Mick Jagger's voice a little grating but the a few numbers (Wild Horses, Sister Morphine and Dead Flowers) stood out for me. Minus one star for the stupid saxophone on Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

I never really liked The Rolling Stones, but it's an ok record I guess.

So so boring.

Another Stony Roller, this time the adhesive edition. It’s been a good while since the last Rolling Stones album, and I remembered liking their previous outing. Beggars Banquet had some good tunes and was the point where the band redeemed themselves in my eyes. The sky is the limit from this point forward. Yeah. I mean, it’s the Rolling Stones. I think this album is, admittedly, a bit of a step down from Beggars Banquet – I’ve never been much of a blues rock guy. Most of these songs lose me somewhere along the way and generally blend together, though there are some alright cuts in here. “Brown Sugar” is a good opener. Very characteristically Rolling Stones, fake-yank demeanour and all. “Wild Horses” is a great song, easily my favourite of the album. "Can’t You Hear Me Knocking" is a solid follow-up. I especially like the second half of that song. There’s a very gratifying build up in the country instrumental, and the songwriting isn’t half bad, either. “Bitch” is a solid track. I like the brass sections and building pressure that is placed on the song. As always, I feel like I owe it to myself to see why this album is in here. First album released on their own label. First album of theirs to top both sides of the Atlantic. The zipper on the cover used to work, which is a cool bit of trivia. Wikipedia says this album is a return to form for the band and is regarded as one of their best works. Yeah, this is a very well-received album. I’m down with this inclusion.

It’s a decent enough album, Wild Horses and Can’t You Hear Me Knocking hold the water … BUT … I was today years old when I paid attention to the lyrics to “Brown Sugar” …. HOLY HELL. That’s about as problematic as it gets

Doesn't do anything for me, don't think I'll listen again

I hate the Stones. Fav: -

I think the Rolling Stones are one of those bands that I just don’t really get. They have a few songs I like, to the point of singing along in the car anyway, but there’s nothing on this album that really speaks to me. I can appreciate it for what it is objectively, a bluesy, relatively soulful rock n roll album. It’s not bad, I just don’t enjoy listening to it. It’s hard to rate something like this, do I go based on objective merit or my own personal feelings? Since this is my review I am going to continue to vote based on vibes and my own personal feelings. Not a record I care to hear again. 2*

It was fine. I think there are better stones albums.

I figured the Rolling Stones would be on here eventually. Alas. The best part about the Rolling Stones is 'Ruby Tuesday'. The worst part is everything else. Lots of (blues?) guitar, second only to the Beatles in popularity, some concerning lyrics. This is their ninth album, which doesn't bode well for how many albums might be left of theirs. Lowlight: 'Dead Flowers'

Starts out pretty strong before quickly dissolving into nothingness

I don't like Rolling Stones albums, and I'm not sorry! They have many incredible songs, but they just didn't do albums well. Every one I've listened to has like 2-4 great songs and the rest is either trash or completely mid. I don't get people rating this album so highly. The 40 Licks compilation is enough for me.

I really just don't like Jagger & Co, better than the other rolling stones albums this far at least

Nothing to say

It's a no for me for you dawg. It's Mick's voice.

Not my favorite album. I liked the first song, Brown Sugar, but the rest was pretty mid.

Wild horses is sooooooo good but everything else is just ok. Very underwhelmed.

The top five star review on this album is by some misogynistic Republican Boomer who seems to adore the sort of "white guys do the blues" thing that drives me up the wall... and has several of my favorite albums in his one star collection. Based on the quality of that reviewer's taste alone, I suspect I'll be giving this two, maybe three stars. Three would be a stretch. Cover art: juvenile, tacky. I already know "Brown Sugar" is an atrocity going in - I'd give it one star by itself - so I'll just skip that and see what the rest of this album is like. ... yeah, it's full of that white guy blues crap. Not a single track on here I could actually enjoy. Nothing else as grotesque as "Brown Sugar" and I'm not angry about listening, so it's two stars. I reserve one star reviews for the albums I'm mad about having in my streaming history. Anyway, I'm off to listen to one of the top reviewer's one star albums to clean out my ears. Fever Ray's self-titled album appeals to me today. 🎶

Gammalrock.

Another bit of a miss from the Rolling Stones, for me personally. At least it had some interesting moments like Can't You Hear Me Knocking and Moonlight Mile!

It was OK. 2/5

Not crazy about the stones. Texted Jan today

A really blusey record

Just kind of gross.

With all due respect I hate The Rolling Stones. I won't deny they are great but their music is just pretty unbearable to me. Great Album by the way, I really wish I can get into it, but whatever song people claim to be great, I just happen to hate it, "White Horses" for example, I can't enjoy it, not a single bit, and I don't know why. I only like one Stones album and that's not this one. You can say their songs are masterfully produced but to me it's just weird they occupy so much time to convey such simple motif, like, it's quite unefficient. When you are taking up 5 minutes of my life, I expect some major metamorphosis. "Sister Morphine" is good though, for that song only, I'd like to gently put a 2.5/5 down here.

Its realllllllly old timey - kinda boring Not my vibe
