Reviews (page 10 of 13)

I liked wild horses. I know they’re like super famous but honestly this album wasn’t my fav

Wild horses is a classic. Didn’t love You Gotta Move and Bitch at all

Some great rock here, but everything about this group and this album (ugh that cover art) kind of puts a scowl on my face

Listening session: january 21th, while commuting to intership Listened to before: heard a few songs before Thoughts: I’m not really familiar with the Rolling Stones and while I wouldn’t really put it on myself, this album was nice to play as background music Favourite tracks: Wild Horses & Sister Morphine

pretty good very funky

Confused as to why this album is included in this list. Sounded to me like mick jagger and friends singing about doing drugs but with a more country sound. It feels generous to give this 3 stars, however there are redeemable qualities - a few good tracks (can't you hear me knocking, brown sugar, wild horses), plus an ensemble of differing instruments saves this album from being bad

listened to jan 20 on way to work and while cleaning + washing dishes at night. some groovy songs and some folky songs

I’ll still never really be a Stones guy, the sound of white dudes playing the blues, even as well as they do (or when their competitors the Beatles did it), will never not scan as curious to me. But, for a favourite Stones album, this one comes in the middle of their incredible Beggars-Exile run and depending on the day of the week, any one of those would get my vote.

giving tio rich en el coche a jugar discgolf txas country cows

Quality but not my vibe. 6/10

Pretty good

It's alright

Tracks I've heard before: Brown Sugar Top 3: Bitch Dead Flowers Moonlight Mile Bottom 3: Can't You Hear Me Knocking You Gotta Move I Got The Blues

like any other classic rock album - nothing special - didn't enjoy

I'm not really a Rolling Stone's fan but give them their due. This is a solid and obviously iconic album of there's. It was a good relisten but it did not change my views on the band in any way. Several standout Stone songs on here like Brown Sugar and Can't You Hear Me Knocking along with some deeper stuff like Sister Morphine. This is probably the Stone's at their best.

Is this the best rock band of the 60's? Am I missing some important context or concept? Cuz I was not impressed

just another classic rock album. REALLY nothing special. I want to give it a 3/5 because it was pretty boring overall! I also dont like the cover tbh.

It sure is the Rolling Stones innit

Once again a Stones record largely passes me by. Apart from Brown Sugar, which musically is great but lyrically is not, nothing sticks. Which is ironic, really. Fine, but... meh.

Can't decide between 3 or 4 stars.

Pretty bluesy, rockin' stuff. Overall a good album which I'd listen to again, one of the better Rolling Stones records so far. Wild Horses is the standout for me. A high 3.

Favorite Songs: Brown Sugar, I Got The Blues, Moonlight Mile Least Favorite Song: You Gotta Move First ever Rolling Stones listening experience! Very solid record, but I wasn't really a fan of the country sounding songs.

Meh, expected more from the legends.

Obviusly I knew Brown Sugar. I probably didn't expect the rest of the album to be quite as varied. Lots of Neil Young/Dylan kind of vibes in there, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. As an album, I'm not entirely sure that it holds together quite as well as I might like it to. It's a bit all over the place at times. Not terrible at all, but not something I'm likely to spend that much time with in the future.

dad rock kinda ting nem rossz amúgy

Dont really like rock n roll 5/10

This was interesting. I liked some but not all. You gotta move not being about cows is sad. Thought it was you gotta moo.

Another one I haven’t listened to as a full album but I know most of the songs. Great classics on here. Most of them were remasters on the version I played. Can’t you hear me knocking, Bitch are my favourites

Started off strong but the rest of it was just very generic classic rock. I like classic rock don’t get me wrong, I would listen to this album again but the vocals got more annoying as the album went on. Wild horses is a classic tho

Yesssss ofc another Rolling Stones album back to back…..I still am not convinced I am going to love this album. However, Wild Horses is on it, so at least I have that to look forward to. Brown Sugar - 6.5 Very bluesy and with some honky tonk elements as well as some soulful vibes. Plus a sax? Always appreciated. Almost too sexual of a song but has a solid vibe, I just feel kinda weird listening to it. Sway - 6 So this one is going to be around the pitfalls of the rock n’ roll lifestyle. Yea idk, I don’t love listening to Mick Jagger. He just kind of feels like he’s yelling at me while trying to find a key to sing into. I do like the actual meat of this song though and the writing is solid. Guitar goes crazy. I feel more emotionally invested in what the guitar is conveying in this track. It almost sounds sad while absolutely wailing - kind of how I imagine the guilt and pain must be living the life of this band. Wild Horses - 9.5 Extra half a point for the memories associated with TSITP. This is such a great song, not much more to say tbh. Wild horses couldn’t drag me away. Can’t You Hear Me Knocking - 3 Entirely too long of a song at 7:16. But it was groovy, I just lost attention. You Gotta Move - 5 I hate this twang in Jagger’s voice I’m hearing. Very like church hymn energy. It’s a fine song I guess, I just cannot see myself ever listening to it again. Bitch - 8.5 Like the rock energy I’m hearing in this one. Okayyy so this one is about feeling just out of wack when you’re in love. HORNS??? This is prob my second favorite track after Wild Horses. I Got the Blues - 6.5 Mick Jagger singing a ballad is just not my fav. More horns though which I appreciate. Organ??? Very southern/gospel. I honestly didn’t dislike that one as much as the beginning would have led me to believe. Sister Morphine - 4 Drug ballad. I’m not saying it’s not coming from a very real place, but idk it really just doesn’t land for me. Rock n’ Roll in the 70s and 80s folks!! Don’t do drugs. There is some funky keys in the back here that open up into a pretty cool instrumental section. I think I like the Rolling Stones best when Mick Jagger is not singing hahah. Another song bordering on too long at 5:31. Dead Flowers - 5 Is this Mick? Why on Earth is he singing this way? But I like the “easy listening” kinda country vibe even though it has bananas sad lyrics. A more upbeat song about using drugs. I think this kind of a petty song tbh. Like he’s telling this girl (or maybe he’s talking to the drugs???) that she can still send dead flowers as a “fuck you”, but he is still going to get the last laugh by sending roses to her grave. So maybe leading us to that he’s stronger than his addiction even though is seems like he’s actively going through it? Idk that’s just my take on it. Kind of intriguing song. Moonlight Mile - 7.5 (maybe 8) Last song (kinda finally)!! He has a very...interesting falsetto range. This one is giving a moody musician song. He isn’t fulfilled by the fans and adoration anymore, he’s constantly on drugs, and living on the road. It seems like he’s still finding some satisfaction in the music of it all. Pretty piano in the back. Maybe that’s symbolizing a more “pure” version of his love for music underneath this hardened rock n roll shell. I really fuck with the instrumentals in this one. I think this is the most genuine song I’ve heard from Jagger. I like him exploring a very real emotion to expertly chosen instrumentals. After listening to this, I imagine Jagger still having his dreams (the moon/this "thing" that's being lit up that he is still doing all of this traveling for), but maybe needing a new way to chase them after getting fed up with how it’s been going so far on the road/touring/singing. Overall: 5.5 Okay, this album kind of surprised me. There were def some stinkers on this one for me. I’m not absolutely in love with Mick Jagger as many of my individual reviews would support. I think his voice just doesn’t do it for me. But there were definitely some songs I liked and will be adding for their instrumentals and overall story. Wild Horses is a classic that was already on my playlists, but additionally I will be adding Bitch and Moonlight Mile and maybe even I Got the Blues. My least favs were Sister Morphine, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, and You Gotta Move. I really don’t think I have it in me to listen to another Rolling Stones album for a third day in a row so HOPEFULLY I get a good one tmr.

Solid stuff

This turned out to be surprisingly entertaining.

Aika perus rollari soundia taas. Ei yhtään tuttua kappaletta. Ei huonoa. Parhaat: Wild Horses, Dead Flowers

when I was 17, my mum approached me and (very politely) asked me if it would be ok if she stopped going to my jazz performances at school. I didn't really care that much; she'd been to dozens of my orchestra and band and choir concerts over the years. she didn't need to prove she cared. but I asked her why jazz specifically, and she said that to her, it always felt like we just played the same song and improvised different solos for like ten minutes on each one. when I hear albums like this, I think about that conversation. I now know how she felt.

A solid rock and roll album. You can hear how they influenced so many. Entertaining throughout.

Yeah just typical Rolling Stones by now, just alright

The penis outline on the album is throwing me off 😭 Brown sugar reminding me of “start me up” by the Rolling Stones (oh, it’s the same band)- bit lazy with the riff guy’s , come on-6/10 Wild horses-9/10 love Can’t you hear me knocking- 7/10 banger but rlly do not have the patience to listen to a 7 min song( this isn’t pink Floyd guys) Wasn’t a big fan of you gotta move tbh ( dad loved it tho 😂😂) Bitch- 9/10 BANGER riff is stunning I got the blues-6.5/10 defo a good song, maybe just not my vibe atm. Sister morphine- 0/10 DEADDDDDD Dead flowers-

Kinda of familiar, but not a fav

Eu já escutei esse. Não acho ele incrível mas também não é péssimo, achei que fosse ser melhor antes de escutar. Mas a música “Dead Flowers” é show de bola, inclusive acho que ela me lembra bastante do filme “My Own Private Idaho”. 6,5/10.

I think I’d only heard Sway once of twice and I really liked the experience of hearing what felt like fresh music from this era of the Stones. Overall a great album. I’d say I still prefer Beggars Banquet but this one is up there. 3.5/5 Stand outs were “Wild Horses” “Sway” “Moonlight Mile”

Wild horses is amazing

good album

Classic

Those jeans would be a bit uncomfortable. Looks like a prize hog, though.

This is my first Stones album on this list. My past exposure to the Stones mostly concerns my mom playing 40 Licks (a greatest hits compilation) often on CD and their songs that are played on rock and oldies radio. This album is iconic somewhat because of the album art, which is polarizing and recognizable. Sticky Fingers has a couple of their great songs and the rest are just okay.

Listened. Enjoyed. A side more interesting/noticeable than B. Great sax. liked wild horses, cant you hear me knocking and dead flower best

Like most of their albums it has too much filler besides the couple of great songs. Favorite song: brown sugar

You could say the lyrics to “Brown Sugar” didn’t age well. But even in 1971, a song about a plantation owner raping his slaves shouldn’t have been made so cheerful. I was happy to find an article where Jagger said they would not have written that song today. But it is so tasteless, it distracts from the overall quality of the remainder of this album.

75/100

Love the blues touch on this one!

have never listened to TRS actively, and i think it's better that way... this album is great to mindlessly drive to while not paying too much attention to it if that makes sense

Favorites from album: brown sugar, wild horses, can’t you hear me knocking, bitch, I got the blues. Overall a solid album but not my favorite. Rating: 6.5/10.

Pretty good the first couple songs on the album are better towards the end it starts to get a bit slow and repetitive, not my favourite album of theirs

I was amazed that wild horses is their original song and that I've spent my life annoyed that what's her name did the cover. I went back to try and find the rendition in my mind that I fist heard the cover back in 2012 or so at Wally's on serious XM Lithium it would play a lot just like that dude and the hallelujah song so often dam. anyways. she did a good job I just didn't know about Bridgers and Julian Dacus and such to really make sense of it. I grew up listening to bright eyes and Pedro and didn't know that women are doing it better! Karly Hartzmen is like quint. status. kRISTEN sTWEART IS a god. goodbye. LOOOKIT. at the end of the day I know they shaped the music industry but retroactively listening to this after all that's out I'm hard pressed to appreciate the "Rolling Stones ran so ya mother could cry" concept. I'm a flake on this album. thanks.

dead flowers was my favorite, a few of the instrumentals reminded me of foreigner

Favorites- Brown Sugar, Sway Least Favorites- You Gotta Move Solid album

Good, but not something I think I will find myself returning to. 3 stars.

Good, now seems very straightforward Rock'n'Roll.

Wild Horses always makes me cry, but The Rolling Stones are much better at singles than albums.

Wild horses is good, the rest sounds kind of mid to me. 3* Still don't think the RS are on par with the Beatles, not even close.

Pretty good.

Not a fan of the this album which was a surprise. I like some stones songs but not too many off this album I enjoyed!

Wild Horses, Can't You Hear Me Knockin', and Dead Flowers all stand out on this album. I think the hits are definitely iconic. The album challenged its band's genre by some of the borrowed sounds from other genres like country and blues. All-in-all, it's a good listen and worth knowing.

They are a band I can't wrap my head around why they are hugely popular. Sure they have some hits but man when it's not a hit it's rough. I need to sit down and listen to their discography and make my own hits playlist. Maybe I'll gain an appreciation then.

Yeehaw! And howdy? When these rootin’ tootin’ sons of the blues ain’t panning for gold they’re out there takin’ no prisoners. Sticky Fingers is a special sort of disc. It is to American music of the 20th century what Pale Fire is to literature originated in the English language: something from without elevating all that’s within. “Brown Sugar”, “Wild Horses”, “Dead Flowers” – there are more hits in here than in a high noon in the saloon. My own “aha” moment with The Stones might not have meant an opening of the floodgates; but as a document attesting to the strength of the cultural “special relationship” shared by the US and the UK … there can’t be many more as sincere and authentic out there than this.

"Moonlight Mile" was actually a good song, and it kept me from dropping this album to a 2 after the awful country song and unnecessary saxophone solo.

Vibes: 3/5 Instruments: 4/5 Production: 4/5 Emotional Value: 2/5 Storytelling: 2/5 Album Cover: +0 Stand Outs: Can't You Hear Me Knockin', You Gotta Move Overall Rating: 3

Pretty cool!

Ja, hva skal en si? Noen godlåter, men ikke helt etter min smak.

A few cuts are really good. However some are just the opposite.

I like "Wild Horses". The rest of the tracks are good but not quite good enough for me to bump above a 3-star (though it's close). This seems to be a recurring theme for me with Rolling Stones. I like the sound, but the songs are just OK.

Solid, but not exceptional beyond the couple bigger hits. At least it's smart enough to no overstay it's welcome.

There's always 1-3 solid songs (plus 1-2 familiar hits) on the Stones' albums we've had so far - along with what feels like a lot of filler. & the solid songs often feel like they're aping better (Tina Turner back in the day) or lesser known (every blues artist Mick wishes he was) artists. Here, the songs I was pleasantly surprised by were 'Can't You Hear Me Knocking' until it sprawled into a shitty jam session and 'You Gotta Move' (which definitely owes a debt to the uncredited woman singing on the track along with the originally uncredited writed, Fred McDowell). The filler is pretty much everything that's not 'Brown Sugar' or 'Wild Horses.' So another typically Stones album where glimmers of brilliance are subsumed by mediocrity + knowing the brilliance was 60% copied.

Try as I might, I’ve just never fully gotten into the Stones. I like their big hits but most of the lesser known songs haven’t done much for me. I know this is one of their best albums but I just didn’t do it for me. I like the bluesy nature of it, Mick Jagger is a solid vocalist and Keith Richards masterfully plays on this but idk, I’ve always preferred the Beatles to the Stones.

*1971 *Big hits: Brown Sugar and Wild Horses. *Bluesy and southern rock ala CCR. RATING - 7.5/10

Can’t You Hear Me Knocking was a song I had on repeat during my classic rock phase in high school. Absolutely killer song. Solid album overall! I really liked I Got the Blues and Moonlight Mile, those were new songs for me. I think this is the first Rolling Stones album I've listened to all the way through. I always just listened to specific songs, that's it. Solid project! 3 1/2 (if i could do halves on this thing).

The Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers finds the band leaning hard into the bluesy swagger and country-rock textures that Mick Taylor’s arrival helped reignite. There’s a looseness to the performances, a sense that the Stones are sinking deeper into their American influences while still polishing their signature dangerous charm. Though it doesn’t consistently reach the towering heights of their last two albums, the record still delivers enough grit, sleaze, and soul to feel like a crucial chapter in their reinvention. From the instantly recognizable riff that kicks off “Brown Sugar” to the dust-covered longing of “Wild Horses,” Sticky Fingers proves the Stones were still writing future standards with ease. But it’s the darker corners—like the narcotic haze of “Sister Morphine”—that show how far they were willing to push their sound and subject matter. A little uneven, maybe, but undeniably the sound of a great band confidently expanding its empire.

I can’t believe Brown Sugar has been around for over 50 years and it wasn’t until the Stones themselves decided not to play it anymore that it became topical to the general rock audience. It’s not my favourite Stones song but still. I like this album overall. Sway and Can’t you Hear me Knocking are stand out tracks. This could be 5/5 if not for Brown Sugar.

Listen, I get the Rolling Stones in terms of their cultural impact and history. I get why their music speaks to a certain generation, but they just aren't for me. Even some of their best tracks don't move me one way or the other. I appreciate their music but at the end of the day I've determined they just aren't my taste. All that to say Sticky Fingers was okay, just like a lot of their music, for me.

Some excellent songs, but more country than I prefer. I was more of a Doors and Beatles fan. A very important album for rock and roll in any case.

Saxes!

album cover 10/5 haha (makes me think of spinal tap) some good stuff in here, but not my fav rolling stones.

Standouts for me were "Wild Horses" and "Moonlight Mile".

The closing track made this dirty-sounding album go one star higher in rating.

It was a decent album. Not sure why it's held in such high regard, but I wouldn't consider it bad. The only track I recognized was Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

Decent when it cuts straight to the point and lets loose, but it's somewhat dull across appreciable portions and a bit gratuitous on occasion. It felt way longer than 46 minutes. Two stars seems slightly harsh, but I'm not overly convinced it deserves three either.

tbh. Expected better from THE Rolling Stones. Favorite: You gotta move

Wild Horses is my favorite Rolling Stones song. But there's too much filler for my taste.

it was ok, never been a bog stones fan.

no oneeee should have to listen to, all this shit

Overall, fine

Its the Stones so it Rocks and or Rolls

Couple of decent tracks, thought the cover was interesting and couldn't decided if it fit the album.

Opening track has 280mil streams, thought that would be a guarantee I'd like it but it was only ok. Wild Horses is the standout. This is my 2nd Rolling Stones album and I'm starting to think, and I could be talking brown here, but they've released over 20 albums and have written some of the greatest rock songs ever, I just have the feeling they are completely spread out over these albums and there isn't one album that stands out head and shoulders above the rest. They could easily have one of the greatest hits albums ever but I don't really get the hype with this album. 3/5.

Not the biggest Stones guy, but I liked it. Always thought the real zipper on the cover was kind of neat. Must have heard Brown Sugar a thousand times before today, and while I always knew it wasn’t about sprucing up a bowl of oatmeal, I never realized, exactly just what kind of fucking was going down in that song 😧 3.5⭐️

Brown sugar is a cracking way to kick off an album. Even though i’m not a Stones fan it hits all the right spots to be a great song. Before listening to this i would have probably said i liked, or at least didn’t dislike Wild Horses but it feels oddly placed in the running order. It therefore feels like a misstep. Not that the tracks either side are anything to write home about. My god Can’t you hear me knocking goes on. Overall the album is just middling with my main takeaway being i wuite like the guitar work

As a general rule, I think The Rolling Stones are incredibly overrated, and I was today old when I realised THAT’S what “Brown Sugar” is about. However, this album was fine - I’d not listen to it again, I still don’t see what all the fuss is about, but it was fine.

I have never been that fussed about Jagger's voice (something that has culminated this year in me taking the piss out of the way he sings the word strange in the Slow Horses theme, every time we watch an episode - "stwwwwaaaaange"). For the high points, I like Brown Sugar and I'm a fan of brass instruments, and there was much more of that than I expected. For the lows, as far as I'm concerned, jam sessions are only fun for the people playing them, so Can't You Hear Me Knocking and Bitch were absolutely not for me. It was fine. One for the "never gonna choose to listen to it, won't turn it off if it turns up on shuffle" collection. 3/5

Recognize all the hits on this one. Cant you Hear me Knocking is 7 minutes long!? Why? B-side of this album got boring. It's a fine Rolling Stones album, but are any of them completely good?

"Brown Sugar" is gross. "Wild Horses" is incredible. "You Gotta Move" sounds a lot like Beck's "Fourteen Rivers Fourteen Floods" (obviously, they were both taking from the same blues tradition, but I'm probably weird for knowing the Beck song and not the Rolling Stones one). "Dead Flowers" - a song that mentions the mail that I'd never heard before!

If the entire album carried the energy of the first half it would be an easy 4 or 5. The run of the first four songs is just incredible and some of the best music ever written. But it loses a lot of its energy in its second half. It's not bad by any means but just sounds like... anything else the Rolling Stones did in the late '60s and early '70s in its second half. But the first four songs, chef's kiss

Prøvde å like klissete fingre, men flere av låtene var litt tamme for min del. Flere gode og! Overrasket av saksofonen. Ikke fått med meg den før, men den fungerte fint.

JoJo reference. Decent tho but not that exciting for me.

Yet another Rolling Stones album from the generator. Probably my favourite from them so far but I still don't Get them. Maybe one day at 40 I will wake up as a Rolling Stones fan, who knows. But for now I still don't get them 3/5

Remember wild horses back from 2018/19. A friend must've shown me. Rest is okay

Not a fan of the Rolling stones at all. Can't stand Jagger's voice. But there were a few decent songs on this

A significant step up from the other 2 Stones albums we have done but also still not worthy of the hype imo.

It was great. No beatles but solid

Didn’t like this as much as Let It Bleed, but still enjoyable! Wild horses and brown sugar are the highlights, great blues rock all around. 3.5 rounded down

This was solid. Wild Horses only one I really love though. Moonlight Mile’s my favorite of ones I’d never heard. More 3.5 than 3

I’m not a big Rolling Stones fan but this album was enjoyable enough. The production was good and some interesting elements I wasn’t expecting like the horns on several tracks. I get the appeal but it’s not my thing.

Hmm. I thought that "Brown Sugar" might be another one of those cases where people freaked out over music in the 70's and then it's just because the musicians have eyeliner on but that's really something. Mostly I spent this album hoping "Honky Tonk Women" would come on and I listened to it twice afterward, although I also really like "Wild Horses". I did really enjoy the, I think, Rolling Stone or Vanity Fair article I found about the creation of this artwork and how the original covers had real zippers on them!

Bit bluesy for me

This might be my favorite of the Stones albums we've had so far, but it's still a high three rather than a four. It seems to me the Stones aren't really an album band; there's always one or two great songs on each album, but also quite a lot of less outstanding work. Best consumed as a greatest hits package.

A classic rock album by The Stones with some favourite tunes.

Exile in Main Street yesterday, sticky fingers today. What is it with the stones and songs about "brown sugar"? Exile had "sweet black angel" too. Bunch of old weirdos. Still the music is pretty decent. Idk. The stones are fine. Definitely influential but also pretty dated. And not just because of Jagger's wrinkles. Anyway. Brown Sugar is a song everyone knows. Can't you Hear me Knocking is 7 minutes of fire.

Started of really strong with Brown Sugar and Sway (particularly the guitar at the end of the track), but then it kind of fell off for the next bit. I Got The Blues, Dead Flowers(!), and Moonlight Mile were my other favourites, but the other songs were very forgettable. For this album I really liked exactly half of the songs and didn't rock with the other half as much, and for that reason I am going with a middle of the road 3

I never really got into the Stones, except for a few songs, and none of those are on this album...

6.5 Solid album. A couple of weak tracks weigh it down. Highlights: Wild Horses Sister Morphine Moonlight Mile Brown Sugar B

Classic stones , yet a bit monotonous

at least two crushing lows that somehow punch their way to the top of the highly contested Most Racist Rolling Stones Moment (i gotta move somehow being their most insulting half-assed Black Musician Pastiche, and brown sugar being skipped by me after about 20 seconds because ive already spend too much of my life listening to that all-time-terrible shit), but i always find something to complain about even on rolling stones songs that are far less morally objectionable. for a certified stones hater like me, this definitely doesnt have the worst hit rate, in fact, the songs i love outnumber the songs i hate by one. bitch is an all-timer fun and bouncy stones rocker that assures me that im not Always too prudish for this band, moonlight mile is a surprisingly azzycore bombastic closer, and sister morphine is a pitch-dark vivid and powerful track that almost sounds like the velvet underground, featuring probably the only mick jagger vocal i unambiguously love. and while i dont dislike the first half of cant you hear me knocking, the second half's lengthy instrumental break is the clear star of the show, maybe even the whole album...maybe second only to merry clayton's solo spot on gimmie shelter as my favorite rolling stones moment. i suppose the records weakness and strength is that i feel most inclined to talk about it as a collection of songs and not an Album...im not sure it ever fully coalesces into anything more than the sum of its parts. but its parts are varied and surprising...all the way up thru the end, ur always capable of being hit by an actually creative idea. not my fave stones record (like that means anything coming from me anyway lol) but i can mostly see the appeal for ppl who dont want to strangle mick jagger whenever they hear him. and who dont know the lyrics to brown sugar ig.

Should revisit

I would put this on on a sunny afternoon as background music. The quicker-tempo songs are fun to bop along to. I liked the horns on birch and can’t you hear me knocking. The lyrics didn’t really stick out to me, but at the same time I thought it was maybe a good album to sing along to…

Didn’t quite finish this, but there are definitely better songs than I thought.

for me, the rolling stones is the "best" (most critically-acclaimed) band, that still falls firmly into the "mid" category for me. So mid. 6/10

Relisten for me, as I know this album well. Widely considered the pinnacle achievement by the world's greatest rock and roll band, "Sticky Fingers" has a reputation that sort of precedes it, almost as if its universal acclaim goes without saying. But while it is obviously a classic, I would rank it at the bottom of the "perfect Golden Age Stones albums" pile behind the likes of "Exile on Main Street", "Let it Bleed" and "Beggars Banquet." I guess I'm in the minority of hipsters who believe that the band really lost something after the death of Brian Jones, and that this album feels like it's missing a lot of ornate instrumentation and psychedelic ideas that made their late 60s albums so legendary for me. It's still good, and the engine that makes the band the untouchable powerhouse of chemistry that it is is still very much here in the form of Jagger and Richards' songwriting and the Mick Taylor lineup's raunchy, bluesy chemistry. But a lot of the songs here just feel like overblown filler compared to their best work, including "Sway", "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" (listening to the Kinks' "Australia" from Arthur really ruined this song and its jazzy jam coda for me), "Bitch" and "Sister Morphine". I even think "I Got the Blues" is a little bare, and feels like it's missing some of that 60s special sauce in the production and instrumentation. This all being said, there are enough bangers here to make this a great experience: "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses" are just vintage Stones at their best, up there with anything they did in the 60s, and "Dead Flowers" and "Moonlight Mile" are an incredible closing couplet. "You Gotta Move" is also the band at their most authentic, blues-loving selves. But the Stones, while being incredibly innovative in their own right, could also be trend-chasers, and from the Warhol artwork to the bloated, rockist textures that upstage the songwriting, they feel like they're starting to chase their own trend here. Hey, just my opinion. 3/5

It's alright, but I forgot it was on

definitely dad rock. still good though.

slow start, "can't you hear me knocking" gives a little bob d ylan vibes with sick electric guitar and saxophone, "bitch" is also a groovy song, overall not super impressed

It was okay - not my cup of tea but I see why people enjoy it

Grooooovy guitar solos. Can't you hear me knocking is fantastic. Still a bit harder than I am used to and the lyrics aren't that memorable/emphasized. Hard 70s rock man.

Not exactly bad, sometimes really good, and usually its decent but I honestly can't understand The Stones' extreme hype. People seriously think they're better than The Beatles? In what world? It's just some blues music. The guitar work on this on is particularly good

I don’t really get the Stones. This was alright but nothing overly special and that’s always how I feel if I listen to them. Just doesn’t click with me

I can’t exactly explain why - I don’t have a major reason why - I have always had a major aversion to this band. So I approached this thinking it would be a 1 or 2 out of hand. In the end it did not knock my socks off but it didn’t offend either. Still sort of meh. Maybe in the future I’ll come back and find it better. 3/5

1971 Despite being a Stones fan, I've somehow missed hearing this album in full before now. There's some familiarity with a few tracks, that remain classics, and there's also hints of what they were to become, which is less to my liking. The 'authentic' Americana blues and country elements leave me unenthused to make a return. Heard before ❌️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ❌️ Average ★★★☆☆ (5/10)

Ok, classic rock

Dakle, zlatna sredina sveukupno.

I probably like the recording of “You Gotta Move” more than either “Brown Sugar” or “Wild Horses.” But that may say more about my fondness for that traditional spiritual than anything else. The Stones aren’t really my jam; among other things, I just don’t find Mick’s vocals all that appealing or interesting. But I have to respect an album with these three songs. I wish I could give this 3.5 stars.

Big name, generic sound.

No strong feelings about this album. Wild Horses is one of my favorites, though.

Difficult to really know/hear the importance or significance of this album. We all hear about the Rolling Stones as this legendary band, but difficult to hear it here. Music is decent, but really feels like context is missing.

I've odviously heard them before, but never listened to a whole album. I liked the sound, very upbeat, and fun to listen to. I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics, but they didn't relate to me too much. 6/10

That last song was amazing. The rest is fine, but not a bad folk rock entry

I only now noticed how much the guitar part in Brown Sugar before the vocal kicks in resembles Gimme shelter. On brand for the best recyclers of American blues since Led Zeppelin.

Meh: some good songs, some filler, probably made them a lot of money

Nothing special to me

It was okay. It followed the same pattern of most other Stones albums where the hits are at beginning of the album, a tribute to the Blues in the middle, and a long jam type song somewhere in the track list. The band did not really do anything special here.

Listened to it once but the remastered version. Nothing particularly stuck with me but I’ll give it a second listen as it does seem up my alley It’s pretty good driving music that I can give it . Wild horses is the only one that stood out to me on my relisten tho

A fine album, but not one I would listen to repeatedly.

I don’t get The Rolling Stones. The album is okay and there are some fun songs (Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Bitch) but overall, this did not do much for me.

This weirdly is much better through headphones. One thing I am finding from this generator is that I am a singles girl when it comes to the lStones . Wild Horses is fantastic and the rest just can’t compare. And I’m not a huge fan ofJagger’s voice. 3.5

Interesting bluesy album. The album had up and downs

Willlldddddd horses. 3.6

Two great tunes on this (the two hits). The rest has some great riffs, but fails to excite overall.

Enjoyed this album thoroughly, though it's not my favorite from the Stones. Hoping more Stones albums are in this list. "Moonlight Mile" was a strong stand-out for me, love the structure and build in that song.

It just never clicked with me.

No habia escuchado mucho a los rolling pero oye no estan mal

Rock and country vibes. The musical talent is good but some solos were a little long.

This is one of the Stones' most iconic and best albums. Despite having listened to the band's entire discography, I am not well-versed in its history. And listening to the music, it doesn't inspire many thoughts for the write extensively about. As fas as early-70's rock goes, it's definitely above average. Key tracks: Brown Sugar Sway Wild Horses

Ticks all the usual Stones' boxes: - Hasn't aged well lyrically - Has a few bangers - Has lots of filler 3.0/5.0: Good

I don’t care for this, but the enduring touring machine has really set the mould for how rock and roll became an old man’s game.

It's okay, there's a few good ones on here but tbh doesn't grab me

Middle of the pack not bad wasnt the best one.

‘moonlight mile’ is such a great note to end on it almost tricks me into thinking this album was better than it actually was…it’s not a bad record by any means but it’s not the staggering work of rock genius that people claim it is (i think). honestly it’s possible that i think that mick jagger is a boring tryhard no matter what he does. once you grok that he and bowie and all those other englishmen were still so desperate to copy lou reed like five years too late it just becomes unbearably cringe to witness that effort. i always think of that video of kyle mooney dressed as macklemore…not unless yer gay, man…. fav tracks: moonlight mile; wild horses; sister morphine (but i prefer the marianne faithfull version)

not as unenjoyable as i expected based on my past experiences with RS albums. I still think some of these songs are a bit drawn out; I think one or two songs per album with a long instrumental section adds drama, but too many makes it feel bloated. but the music itself was very pretty and i did enjoy it. Fav tracks: Can't You Hear Me Knocking, I Got The Blues

Y’all know what it is. Famous album, some legendary tracks, a few misses too though

Dated Rock album with nice slide guitar parts and memorable tunes. Good as background music at the local bar

This is my second rolling stones album I slightly prefer let it bleed. Still this is very good really enjoyed every track except one

alright to be fair

You can’t always get what you want. For example, I thought this was the album with that song and I didn’t get it.

Classic

Enjoyable. Some lovely standouts, but some that passed me by.

It was fine. Idk, it was better than I was expecting but it’s not really my taste.

Y que se yo, es un disco de los rolling y no conozco ningún tema... mmmmm Nota: 2.8

Liked Dead Flowers. Wild Horses is of course lovely. Overall not really rocking my world.

Wild Horses is one of the best rock songs ever recorded. A truly beautiful track. It's a shame the rest of this album pales in comparison to that tune. The rest of the album, I can take it or leave it. Nothing else was particularly remarkable. "Bitch" and "Dead Flowers" were decent, but probably forgettable. Less sex appeal/hard rock like the album cover might suggest. Instead, this feels more gentle, introspective, and melancholy. It definitely works with Wild Horses. I understand the appeal of the rolling stones. I like them, just not as much as your average Dad.

this has one of my favourite rolling stones songs on it; sway. i enjoy listening to this album

Av någon märklig anledning har jag aldrig riktigt fastnat för sticky fingers.

Decent sounds but not my cup of tea. Good instrumentals with ok vocal work. Not quite what I expected, having been so limited to any exposure to The Rolling Stones.

Some really really lovely ones truncated with noise I just don’t care much for.

I'm not a huge fan of Mick Jagger's vocals.

The trouble with putting one of the greatest rock songs ever as the opening track is that the rest of the album struggles to live up

Another good Stones album. sitting somewhere between 3 and 4.

3 stars I haven’t found a Stones album that lacks filler. But this is one of the better, more consistent ones. The country western impression gets tiring, but more works than not.

I liked this album. Very memorable riffs and songs. This band is one of the ones that you will not be able to escape if you are interested in rock/pop from the 60s/70s. I don't think that's a bad thing, but a lot of this music has power because it's fused with memories of other things. A song from a movie I love, the romanticism of drugs, the strong "sampling" of African American culture. While I'm not sure if the subject matter holds up some 50 years later, it's definitely a good group of tracks from one of the legends of rock and roll. 3.5/5

come back to with better headphones

3.5 Stars

joa bo mog rolling stones irgendwie net so ober wor jo net so schlecht: des two horses oder wild horses oder so wor sogor gonz cool

It's a Rolling Stones album. The one with "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses."

Pretty nice. High 3/5

Da sind mer die Stei chli schnell ah mir verbiigrollt. Leider biz zwenig ufmerksamkeit chöne geh, schlussendli sind mer aber au ned viel lieder i mine finger chläbbe blibbe. 3 flügendi Tigerauge

3.5, some great songs but definitely could skip some songs on my next listen

Outside of the singles just okay I thought.

some RS classics but not my favourite of theirs. overall a solid album though

A solid ok

Like, men ikke love

Lots of hits.

I'm glad the rolling stones remembered they could play good music! Unfortunately this falls right in line with a lot of other samey-sounding okay rock (or adjacent) albums.

This is certainly a better album than Beggar's Banquet. The sound palette the Stones went for here is imo much better with Mick Jagger's voice, and a few standout songs like Wild Horses really hit well. That being said, his voice really isn't for everyone.

This is like your middling Rolling Stones album imo. They dont do anything terrible, but they dont do anything cool either. The interesting instrumentation from other albums is gone etc. The last few songs are very good.

didn't listen thoroughly but some good catchy songs that got my attention

The most surprising part to me when listening to this is that it made me see why people love The Stones, something about the way this album sounds and how the songs are carried just dispelled a lot of what I thought these guys were (and are, really), like I usually imagined and thought of them as being similar to Aerosmith in terms of obnoxiousness but this album is anything but. Brown Sugar, Can't Hear Me Knocking, Sister Morphine, all of them click with me in a way that I didn't expect, like hey maybe they are a more introspective and interesting band than I thought before and that's... interesting to me really. We'll see how I feel on consequent listens but this one is pretty good!

Pretty solid album.

The sleazy blues-rock sound is not my bag, but it's hard to deny the draw of these iconic rockers. While Mick's swagger is fun, the real star for me was Keith Richards's guitar solos. Standout track: Sister Morphine

I dunno, the stones are such a tricky band to categorize, cause when they’re great, it’s amazing, and when they’re not.. it’s just.. meh.. and this album had a few greats and a solid amount of meh.

I never really listened to the Rolling Stones. I can put myself in the time and see why it was so popular and liked. While I consider myself a fan of rock, I can't say this really sparked anything in me, I think the album is solid but to me it just sounds like 70s rock. Perhaps I'm not listening with the kind of ear this album deserves.

Meh :( I really loved the more rocky songs like Brown Sugar and Bitch, but as for the slower ones... it was a struggle to get through them which was surprising to me because of how many people love this album. I think my main issue is that I don't like the singer's voice at all

Good album, but the Stones have better

Repeat listen

Kind of a slower album; I think I prefer their more rockin'/lively music. I do love Wild Horses, though, and Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

Nem izgi, van nagyon hosszú változat, vezetni jó

Good background music. No songs that really stuck out as having that Rolling Stones quality.

Enough has been said about this album. RIP Val Kilmer.

You Gotta Move is Adam Sandler-core. How tf are these guys British? Mick Jagger has to be purposely singing like someone from Alabama which i find a bit funny to be honest

A side is so killer and B side is fine. Wild Horses is their best song I think. 3.5

Solid album, but I don't know what's wrong with me that I can't get into it. Greatest album of all time? Seems like a character ac. Like, I can't tell if Dead Flowers is a piss-take, they're high on their ability to plumb americana, or both. Not bad, just weird. The Stones energy is there across the album, even in the slower stuff, but I don't know if that's enough to make me go Wow! Unkind 3.

Quite bluesy, not the best album of the stones

Never been a fan of The Rolling Stones. Paint It Black and Wild Horses are just about the only songs of theirs I can stand. There's no denying this is a classic album, but it's really not for me. 3 stars.

This is unfair to this album to be honest. I was looking forward to the new Jane Remover record and that was in my mind alot of this listen. It's still good though. Honestly better than the last album I had by them. The one with the building on the cover. Yeeee that might not go over well to the aged sorry. It's got a few bangers. But why is can't you hear me knocking like a 6373 minute song? It just falls off the rails and turns into a jam, which is fine but I don't want to hear that jam everything I press play on that one. Solid rockers that feel less bluesy than the last record.

Classic Stones album with a few songs that I really enjoy.

Love Wild Horses so, so much. The rest was kinda.... just alright.

- entspannt und moody, wenn auch mal wieder nichts für mich herausgestochen hat - insgesamt aber eine tolle Platte

I really don’t understand how people like this

Zwei Riesensongs als Eröffnung, dann viel Rolling Stones. Manches besser anderes ok.

This was decent, miles better than their debut Standout tracks are Wild Horses and Can't You Hear Me Knocking

It's the Stones. They're good. This just ain't exactly my favorite album of theirs.

I mean it was alright, after listening to beggars banquet I was expecting to enjoy this a lot more than I actually did, it was just pretty standard bluesy rock with some random country thrown in which they seem to like doing for some reason. Brown sugar was good musically but the lyrics were just weird, wild horses was good, can’t you hear me knocking was a really good long song which had jazz in it which was cool, sister morphine was another highlight both instrumentally and lyrically. Rest of the songs were pretty mid to be honest, other than sway which I re listened to after, it’s also good which boosts my rating a bit. Overall 6/10.

Solid not much I would return too

Bluesy, moody, classic rock

Classic Rock. Not my style

I love the track 'Wild Horses'. I like the raw energy in Mick Jagger's voice, sometimes ugly but usually emotional. Keith Richards' guitar tone is awesome. The cover of this album is gross.

70er Rock der Stones. Immer noch gut hörbar. 3/5

Good Album, nice riffs and some tunes I wouldn't have expected from the stones

7/10 I like the stones. Love them even. But this album was more top hits but less cohesion. Still a hood record but probs middle of the road for me among the stoned records. Favorite song: Brown Sugar

Original notes got deleted. Clearly an important album which spoke to young people a few generations ago. Can't really get behind the Stones hype myself though am trying to acclimate myself to their sound a bit more. This album is defintely more pallateable to my ears than much of their other work. Feels a lot more sonically consistent and has a lot of great instrumental moments, especially when they just let the band do their thing and create an infectious jam. I can't say everything on here has aged well, especially lyrically. A few of the tracks drag a bit, and some of the vocal performances are a bit strange, especially those where he puts on an accent or a particular inflection. The pure rock tracks here have many moments of greatness, while the country inspired tracks don't really feel like they go anywhere interesting. Will not call myself a Stones fan, but had a decent time with this one. Can't deny it deserves to be on here. 3.5/5 Leaning more towards a 3. Fave track. Can't You Hear Me Knocking Least Fave track. You Gotta Move

wow it’s the rolling stones

This is probably one of their better albums. It's got a few really good songs a lot of filler.

Actually a quite good Stones album. The lyrics are sometimes at least cringy and often nothing anybody would write today. The music with Taylor as the new lead guitar shows that the band is at the start of getting much better, resulting in the signature Stones sound that one recognizes even without Jagger's voice.

A classic... but ... Jag har ju aldrig gått igång på Stones, förutom enstaka låtar. Alltså de kan vara brillianta, men det är inte tillräckligt ofta – ett typiskt greatest hits band. Detta är inte en greatest hits-platta! Trea (med lite plus)

I keep expecting to like The Rolling Stones more than I do. Everything in their sound is stuff I like. I even watched a cover band in the park once and had an amazing time. But somehow everything outside of the big hits kind of misses, for me.

I think there was some good stuff on this album but I just didn’t really notice. All I could pay attention to was the massive bulge on the album cover. It was very distracting.

it’s ok, most of it just doesn’t click with me. although , can’t you hear me knocking is super. 3

Solid classic rock. 7/10

Some classics, and probably exciting in its day, but kind of wallpaper for me. Wouldn’t specifically choose to listen again.

It was ok. Maybe I'm just not a Rolling Stones fan.

I like the music, but find MJ's exaggerated American accent grating. Wild Horses is the highlight track.

explode mick jagger

kind of a sad album, lots of rough topics. good music overall, but not my favorite of their albums

I've never been the biggest Stones fan, but "Wild Horses" might be one of my favorite songs from their discography. This album feels raw, polished and tight. There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said about them for decades. Being familiar with their songs, but not necessarily each album, it's hard to place where this one will compare against their others on the list - so I look forward to hearing more. We listen to this one a lot in our household.

I will admit I’ve never been the biggest fan of the Stones, even though I have a few of their songs liked. This album did show some of their variety with slower songs like Wild Horses and the jazz solo part in Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, which I did enjoy. Jaggers rough raspy voice is fitting for the band but never especially stood out to me either.

Enjoyable. Could probably use a relisten.

It was fine. Some nice bluesy stuff. Lots of typical stones stuff

This is a bit better than the last one I listened to (Exile On Main Street), but it’s still middle of the road for me. I surprisingly knew a few tracks from this album. Doesn’t make me want to try more of their discography. I’ll just wait until I get another one from the generator.

Never was a huge fan of the Stones. This okay and I really like I Got the Blues

Very solid album, with wild horses and brown sugar. Sister morphine is a great tune!

Solid rock album

Good old rock and roll - Good instrumentals like guitar, drums, and saxophone

It was alright, not exactly my cup of tea. Brown Sugar is my favourite from the album. Towards the end of the album I got kinda bored...

Overall solid and enjoyable. Quality Rolling Stones at their best. Now Brown Sugar....its not okay, not right. Yes they stopped playing it, but Richards said, I don't get why they are mad its about slavery and hopefully we will get to play it again someday. So maybe it is and maybe we can bend that he is "trying" to make a political statement, but he never says that and never tries to explain the point they were trying to make. He just wants to play it again because its fun and that is the problem. Yes when this song was written it was a different time, and maybe it was more acceptable, but its not now. Say that, own up to the it, and say for that reason we choose to remove it from our sets, period...the end. I wanna give it a 4, but the response to Brown Sugar makes me take a star away.

The Rolling Stones always leave me feeling unsatisfied. Their bluesy, whiskey soaked music feels like the morning after a night of binge drinking. That’s cool in your teens and twenties, but the older a person gets, the longer the headache lasts. This album has some great songs like Brown Sugar, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, Bitch, and Sister Morphine, and yet still I feel like I’m missing some fuller overall experience.

Наверное круто

Very good album

Probably my least unfavorite Stones album. This was actually nice all the way through.

3 estrelas exclusivamente por wild horses. essa música é bonita d+ não tem base

Other than Wild Horses, none of the songs really grabbed me. Might revisit.

I will never understand why the Stones are so often mentioned in the same sentence as the Beatles. I mean there aren't any objectively *bad* songs on this album. They are all good! And a couple are great. But (to me) there is no real magic here. Just a lot of pleasant rock n roll.

Big hits and dirty south jam sessions all in one album. Honestly I never listened to the album so hits are great but the album falls short 54 years later

One of my all time favorite songs is on this album. Wild Horses. The Stones are great. Bit of blues stealing going on, but nothing to admonish for.

ihan hieveen tylsää musaa. Rollareita.

Hmm...The Rolling Stones. Was sölli säge, ich mag halt the Mick Jagger nöd. Erstundlich bluesigs Album mit villsiitiger Instrumäntalisierig. Vergliche mit The Doors oder Janis Joplin isch s Album eigentli rächt brav. Brown Suger känntmer ja, aber s beschte Stuck für mich isch eidüütig Sister Morphine. Da händ sich Dire Straits glaub ächli inspiriere lah. Fazit: Bin positiv überrascht.

Very standard classic rock, some great hits. Ultimately not very interesting or exciting.

Only knew Brown Sugar and Wild Horses, but enjoyed the other songs. Nothing stood out from those two songs other than I got the blues. Enjoyed the use of sax throughout the album. Probably put it on again, but just for those few songs.

I’d probably give this 3.5 stars if I could—3 might be a bit harsh, but some tracks didn’t quite stand out to me. I can appreciate that this album was likely groundbreaking at the time, but listening to it 50 years later, it doesn’t feel as revolutionary. That said, I really enjoy the rawness compared to modern recordings. You can hear little imperfections—like a voice cracking or a guitar hitting a slightly off note—things that would be completely polished out in today’s production. That being said, a few tracks really stood out to me: - Can’t You Hear Me Knocking - Moonlight Mile - Wild Horses

Stones, yeah, they rarely click with me. Never for a full album. Some good ones here, but enough has been said about the dubious lyrics to Brown Sugar. May be one of their best, but for me they remain a singles band and rather a cultural phenomenon than a musical.

I can hear it's impact and quality; it's just not music for me. Still good though.

Me gustó pero siento que es muy country y algunas canciones me hacen sentir en el sur 6/10

I mean it’s alright like overrated af in my opinion. Jajajajdb la verdad no me gusto tanto Canción favorita: Brown Sugar Calificación: 6.5

Oh man, good album. Wild Horses is a classic, along with Brown Sugar and Can't You Hear Me Knocking. Realized I don't listen to as much Rolling Stones as I thought, so some songs were a pleasant surprise to me, like Dead Flowers. But some songs, while definitely not bad, kinda blended together for me, just didn't stand out nearly as much as some of their counterparts on the album. Definitely good, can't say I dislike any of the songs, but a couple might get skipped depending on the mood, you know?

Dad rock

3.5 solid rock album. Favorite songs song: can’t you hear me knocking and moonlight mile

This one was a rough listen for me. It was either pretty ok and somewhat uninteresting, or in the case of "Brown Sugar," extremely uncomforting. Overall, as far as studio albums go, this was not a good start to the Stones catalog. Probably a 6

Classic rock baby. I’ve heard all these songs a million times before. I wonder where they got this style from?
