Not a bad album, I'm just very much not a fan of this genre

Enjoyed listening to this and thinking about what people would have been doing and how they would listen when this first came out. Couldn't really get into it musically, but enjoyed playing it through

The vocal performances here are great, the musicians hold it down and the songwriting is what you'd want from good swing tunes: catchy, jittery and upbeat. If this is your genre then I totally get why this is a classic, but this isn't my genre. It's not bad I just wouldn't opt for this type of pop music (and let's be honest, that's what it is) over other types, and I certainly wouldn't put this on if I'm in the mood for jazz. It's good, but it's not for me.

Je sais que Louis Prima est un gros nom dans le swing, mais vraiment pas mon genre. La musique est pas mauvaise, mais plus souvent qu'autrement le chant ne me plait vraiment pas. The Lip est aussi l'une des rares pièces m'aillant autant taper sur les nerfs.
This was a hard listen.
This is weird to rate. On one hand this style hasn’t really aged within pop music and I don’t really see myself coming back to this. However the trumpet is really good and scat singing is always fun and was influential at the time. Never knew who Jump, Jive and Wail was originally by so that was cool. This is somewhere between 2 and 3 and I think I need to lean towards 2 relative to my other reviews

Didn’t mind this. Sounds of it’s time, although not exactly Elvis. Probs has a very distinctive voice, and the songs are quite dramatic. Unlikely to play again, though.

Great for 1956 but not feeling it
While I very much respect what this music represented when it was released, it's not necessarily something that I would be able to listen to on an on-going basis.

I do not care for vocal jazz or swing, so this is simply not to my taste at all (the only things I really liked were the instrumental tracks). I'm sure it's fine if you do like this sort of thing.

Couple of good songs but generally not my genre of music
I am sure that back 60+ years ago this album was cutting edge and wonderful. Is just not my style. Was fun that I recognized some of the songs, though there were covers from other artists.

Felt like watching the first half hour of Goodfellas. Interesting I suppose, but not my cup of tea.

Bored by this kind of music
Wasn't expecting a straight up swing record on the list. Would have begged this as earlier. Several songs I knew, reminding me of my high school days in jazz band.
Not bad music, just not really my thing
I was excited to see a 50s album, then a *little* less excited when I noticed it was jazz, but sure ok, I don't mind some jazz. Then the first song is the original(?) version of what I find to be one of David Lee Roth's most annoying songs/covers. Not Mr. Prima's fault, but a poor start. But then the next couple seem very gimmicky with too much call and response or cheesy dialog. Another half star nominee, I would love to give it a 2.5; let's see which direction that falls in the morning when it's time to assign stars...
This Swing music isn't my thing and it's pretty outdated at this point. But I can appreciate that back in its heyday, this was probably a spectacular album.
Feels like a generic big band album. Not terrible, not outstanding. The Banana Split song is kinda weird...

Hey, this is pretty weird! Sinatra...if he had circus ties instead of mob ties. Whiny trumpet lands like a joke. The recording session musta been the most fun anyone ever had in the history of the world, even if it's not always QUITE that fun for the audience. I was crackin' up when he scatted with throat clearing sounds. Whistle solo was inevitable as death.

Not only is the music outdated and annoying, but it oozes a kind of "novelty / dad humour" quality that was very prevalent in 50s music and that I absolutely detest. This is the mindset that later generated kitsch / Schlager music: music deliberately produced for uncool, old normies and successfully purged from any transgressive elements the aesthetic form (e. g. Rock'n'Roll) might have had.

I you didn''t know, I hate classic Disney and their musical cartoon films. One film in particular which causes me oceans of bile is The Jungle Book. You can see where this is going. You hoo hoo are a c**t, and I don't want to listen to you hoo hoo. That said, he did seem to be the 2nd happiest man on the planet in the 1950's. But that is not enough to win me over.

Have you ever wanted to listen to really bad music? Then this album is for you. In my opinion, I hate this album because of the lyrics and what it's about. Another reason why I don't like this is because I don't like how his voice sounds. I would not recommend this album to someone else because I don't like it so I don't think someone else would also like it.

Never something I would choose to listen to myself, but it is a fun album and im glad I heard it. My favorite song is lip. I think I like the backup female vocals more than Louis’ maybe thats a crazy take but idc.

When I first saw that Louis Prima was the artist I thought this is great! he wrote sing sing sing. This album is trite. I’m glad it was only 42 minutes.
